The mission, that's the only thing that the rogue is thinking of.
Back in the compound, Nauthiz'Ull hovers closer to Garrett and sends four arrows towards the largest troll attacking the Protector. He implores Toros and Appolo to come back and help relieve the pressure from Garrett. Fine for him to say since he is flying above the reach of the fey-trolls.
Surrounded by multiple images of the small fey-trolls, Garrett ignores them and swings at the sole remaining large fey-troll. It takes both swings, but he manages to drop the beast and carves off one chunk in the process.
Appolo recognizes that he is too badly hurt to aid his companions in this fight. He advises retreat since Xenia is well on her way back with the Power Thingy.
Finally, Toros manages to escape from the clutches of the fey-troll. He then moves over beside Appolo, ready to heal the rogue once more.
========================================
Gargalus cocks his head as if listening to some voice that only he can hear. Those who are close enough might hear his response. Listen DC 15 -- Highlight to display spoiler: {Excellent! Keep pursuing and mark where the rogue is going. Once you're certain, return here.}
The future god looks down at the remaining four members of the party from the security of his hovering chair. He frowns at them and then speaks.
"You have fought well to have all survived this long. If you wish to live, give up your quest and acknowledge my might! If you do this, I shall return you to your homes and time. Otherwise, I shall unleash all my creatures and dispose of you!"
While Gargalus waits for everyone's response, the fey-trolls continue to attack. The fey-troll (T2) that had grappled Toros cannot keep up with the fleet liontaur, so it turns back to attack Garrett. Since it is trying to grapple the Protector, Garrett gets a chance to attack. Then the fey-creature is on the Protector, but cannot get a firm grip on Garrett. Around Garrett, the horde of images of small fey-trolls continues to shift about. The Protector isn't certain, but another small fey-troll might have joined the mix. And some of those images are now medium-sized, too. But none of the small fey-trolls move to attack. Instead they wait ... for something.

Garrett briefly looks at Gargalus, and is about to respond with"I shall not abandon my quest, nor yield to your abominations Gargalus" when it suddenly hits him.
"How do you know we are not from this time?" "Hold wunjo's, everyone stop for a moment.cease the fighting." "How do you know this Gargalus? And if you know this, you obviously know much more."
Then a thought strikes Garrett, and he lowers his sword. "You know all of it don't you? that is why you did not kill us right away, and that is why you were not so concerned with losing the stone. That is why you just sent your minion to watch Xenia take it to Oshirr house, and not try to stop her. You know that we are acting in your best interests if everything turns out as it should don't you?" Garrett smiles at the future God "But you can't be sure if killing any of us will have a negative effect on what that future is likely to be, and you therefore do not want to if it's not necessary. Very clever wizard, very clever. How did you know?"
Garrett waits for Gargalus' response before saying anything further, thinking to himself, "He knows we are going to make him a God, and he wants us to succeed. He just refuses to look weak in the process. He wants Alemi to use the stone and contact the greater being. He's been ten steps ahead of us the whole time."

Gargalus Speaks (DM JohnP) Friday June 9th, 2006 10:41:58 PM
The future god looks down at the party, weighting their intentions. He had negligently waved his hand before to dismiss the Silence spells and now he signals once more to his pets. The fey-trolls cease attacking, temporarily at least, and look up at their master.
Gargalus looks at Garrett and deigns to answer his questions.
"How long did it take Alemi to realize your origins? He and I are very similar, in many ways. Of course, I did have the advantage of one of my spies relaying the ravings of a man dying in a cavern on the other side of Oshirr House."
When Appolo mentions Eberyon, Gargalus tilts his head back and laughs.
"You pathetic fools! You can't even harm me and you want to destroy Eberyon? That would be ... well, inadvisable even if it weren't impossible. But would you rather do that, instead?"
"If you'd rather fight the Fey-King, I can transport you there. It might be interesting to watch. Really, how much did Alemi tell you? Or weren't you listening? Eberyon is why we're all here. Maab, the Wold, people, animals, the fey ... all of it. Destroying him ... well, not even Alemi and I know exactly how much everything is tied to Eberyon."
"Fight him if you like. But you'll lose. And there's no telling what he'd do with you afterwards. I, at least, would destroy when you ceased to be of use. Eberyon might just put you in a bottle and forget about you for an Age."
"So, how do you respond. Do you want to continue helping increase my little army here? Or, do you wish to acknowledge defeat and I'll return you to your time and place? You could even stay by my side, if you like."
garrett Sunday June 11th, 2006 3:19:04 AM
"That is a question that we will need to discuss amongst ourselves for a few moments if that is alright." Garrett responds to Gargalus.
If Gargalus allows it, Garrett will huddle up with the remaining members of the team. "I don't know about you guys, but I think we are going to get clobbered if we continue this fight. If we beat his minions, he may get annoyed and just wipe us out. At this point I have little doubt that he could do it."
"For the mission, we need to take that stone back to our time. We actually have no grudge with Gargalus, I think we should be bartering with him. We should let Alemi do what he needs to do with that stone, and then take the stone with us back to our time once he is done. I say we take Gargalus up on his offer, and admit his superiority and accept the transport home, as long as we can do those prior two things. If it is necessary, I see little downside at this point to telling Gargalus that should we succeed, he will end up becoming a God. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions?"
Toros Sunday June 11th, 2006 7:38:13 AM
While Garrett expresses his opinion, Toros has only one thought in mind, Xenia... and he tries to contact her, if the spell connection is still available....
"Xenia, Xenia... can you hear me...?"
Appolo Monday June 12th, 2006 4:43:24 AM
Appolo looks at Garret"hell let's just tell him what happens and that we need to bring the stone back to our time with us.I mean it is apity we can't kill him here and now without messing things up in our time.So let's just tell him."
After saying his piece to the others Appolo turns and walks up to Gargulas"Here's the deal.We need your stone in the future. As we said we didn't come here for you or your pets.Nor did we come here specificly to help Alemi.Do you want to hear your future. We can tell you."

Toros Monday June 12th, 2006 9:57:56 PM
No response from Xenia....
Toros returns to Gargulus, confirming Appolo's words: "We need that fey stone, we cannot return it to you...." Then the wemic seems to realize something finally, which has been all evident actually... "In fact, you do not seem to worry to much about the loss of your precious stone, which does not make sense... Why is this fey stone so unimportant for you???"
Nauthiz'Ull Monday June 12th, 2006 11:34:59 PM
This situation does not bode will on any level with the ranger. This does not feel right.
"Master Gargalus, obviously we are inferior to you. And if we are inferior to you then we are going to be inferior to Ebryon as well. You win."
A defeated arm lowers his bow momentarily then it raises and shoulders the bow. A slight slump rolls his shoulders down a few inches.
"We need to return to Oshirr House. I am asking to leave unharmed, but if I do not get your permission than I will leave on my own accord when my group is ready."
Nauth looks amongst the remainder of his group nodding to any whose eyes he may catch...possibly looking for reassurance.
Toros-addendum Monday June 12th, 2006 11:59:34 PM
Toros looks at his friends, who have come such a long way until this time with him, together bearing all kinds of troubles and life-threatening dangers...
"OK, lets accept the offer of our future God then... But, what about Xenia...?"
The Arch-Villain Sighs (DM JohnP) Tuesday June 13th, 2006 8:57:08 AM
Gargalus sighs as he looks down at the party.
"Make up your minds, why don't you?," he shouts down.
"I gave you three choices. You can keep fighting my wonderful little creatures here and, if you defeat them, take yourself back to Alemi and Domi. If you lose, I promise that I won't let them eat you."
"Second, you can simply quit and acknowledge my superiority. You give up this ridiculous quest for Alemi and I'll send you back to your time and place."
"Third, you can elect to join me."
Gargalus swoops and hovers his chair around, looking at the party from all sides. Meanwhile, the fey-trolls continue to heal so that now there seem to be eight or more large ones. It's difficult to tell with the multiple images cast by several of them.
Gargalus points towards Garrett and Toros. "You! The heavily armored one and the cat-monster. You can't seem to decide and all you want to do is chitchat. I don't have time for polite discussion. I need an answer - fight, quit or join me."
Then he turns his attention towards Appolo. "You. You also remind me why I shouldn't have cancelled the Silence spells with your incessant chatter. But it sounds like you want to tell me your version of future events. Does that mean that you wish to join me?"
Then he turns to Nauthiz'Ull. "You at least seem capable of making a decision. But simply walking away wasn't an option. Do you want to fight instead?"
Xenia Tuesday June 13th, 2006 10:40:59 AM ...
Garrett Tuesday June 13th, 2006 11:22:49 AM
Garrett speaks quietly to the others as he pulls out a potion and drinks it(flying). "I think we're hosed here guys. We either go down fighting, or make a run for it. Eitehr way we do it now. Most of my combat spells are gone, so I will not last very long against all those super trolls. I can turn fey on them and hope it drops a couple, I'm voting we make a run for it. I don't like any of Gargalus' options."
Appolo Tuesday June 13th, 2006 11:41:56 AM
Appolo walks toward Gargalus"Ok we acknowledge your superiority>I'l tell you about the future,if you allow us to take the stone into the future with us once Alemi does what he needs to do with it.Now do you wish to know the future."
Toros Tuesday June 13th, 2006 9:17:45 PM
"You are a wise God, Gargalus, and we are sure you will understand that we cannot leave this time without our rogue friend. And we need that fey stone, which should not be so important for you. Let us leave here in peace and return to our friend acknowledging your superiority, even if not your minions. There is no meaning in continuing this fight, and we do not want to interfere neither your nor Domi or Alemi's businesses. Let us go and we can ensure we will do our best not to face you again unless you want so."
Toros: OOC Tuesday June 13th, 2006 9:20:11 PM

Nauthiz'Ull Thursday June 15th, 2006 12:36:47 AM
Nauth looks upon his wunjo with a still pained and confussed look. His eyes flicker between Gargalus and Garrett; the lets out a low sigh and flys up next to him.
whispering; "I am with you wunjo, all the way. If you make a run, I will lay down some fire to slow them up a bit. Just let me know."
Nauth looks back upon his future lord. "I tell you what. Today you spare us, as we all know your powers are vastly superior to your. Perhaps even more so than you realize. Letting us go today ensures you that I will devote my life, in our time, to your praise and worship. If you do not let us go, then your name will not spread as a revered one through the frozen lands that I call home."
Gargalus Speaks (DM JohnP) Thursday June 15th, 2006 10:39:07 PM
The future god of death looks down at Appolo from his flying throne.
"Well, it sounds like you wish to join me. But don't even think that we're equals in this. Don't dictate to me and demand that you get to take the Feystone."
"If you wish to avoid the fate of your fellows, stand here close by me. Do not interfere or I shall punish you severely."
Then Gargalus looks over to where garrett, Toros and Nauthiz'ull are clustered. He heaves another big sigh and then speaks to Garrett.
"Let's see, I believe that the choices that I gave you were these. Choice one - fight and die. Choice two - Quit and be returned to your place and time. Choice three - Join me."
"I don't recall offering you the choice of running away with your tails between your legs."
He glances at Toros for a moment.
"Figure of speech, of course. Please don't take it personally."
He swivels the stone chair around until he is directly facing the three defiant ones.
"If you try to run, I will send all of my creatures after you. And I shall act to prevent your flight, if need be."

Garrett turns to Nauth "Sorry wunjo, had to say it."

Battle Resumes (DM JohnP) Tuesday June 20th, 2006 11:08:36 PM
Rather than wait for Gargalus to signal his monsters to attack, the party charges towards the future god where he hovers over the compound. The chair is approximately 10 feet over the ground.
Appolo tries leaping onto the flying throne that Gargalus rides. He cannot get high enough but might be able to grasp something on the base of the throne and then climb up. Climb DC 20 to maintain a handhold or fall 10 ft. to the ground (1d6 damage unless Tumble)
Garrett is more direct. He charges while he is still enlarged, swinging as he evades the fey-trolls. He manages to hit Gargalus but the wizard's protective magics turn the blade just enough to prevent significant damage.
A spell flares as soon as Gargalus is injured, and Garrett must resist a spell. Will DC 26 or be paralyzed
Toros and Nauthiz'Ull stand by while all this happens.

The trolls have lost one of their opponents and their master has dealt with the annoying archer who burned them so badly before. Their master has also held another opponent. So there's only the sneaking fraidy-cat to find.
The fey-trolls cast about, sniffing for the scent of a liontaur.
Fey-troll T8 gives a mighty snort and pinpoints Toros' location. It swings a claw at the hidden liontaur.
Seeing this attack, the other fey-trolls cluster around Appolo's fallen body and the hidden liontaur.

Toros heals the fallen rogue one last time - 12 hp and then tries to get rid of the fey-trolls and their copies, trying to surround himself. The agile liontaur tumbles, and hides in the shadows as away as possible from the feytrolls, however recognizing he is not as fast as a couple of seconds ago. As his Righteous might expires, Garrett briefly looks back at Nauthiz'Ull, amazed that his wunjo has sided with him instead of Gargalus. "Thank you Wunjo...." Garrett's gratitude is cut short as he sees his longtime friend caught in a nasty spell. Realizing that he has little chance of dispelling it, Garrett decides the only way is to kill Gargalus as fast as possible.
Garrett flies up to Gargalus and swings at him, using the granted power of the strength domain to increase his strength by 6 for this round.

The ranger is stunned that his arrows hit mark. Knowing not if this was truly the right thing to do or not he is quickly reassured by his wunjo's voicing of appreciation. Nauth, however, can do nothing to show the cleric of Domi that he would continue to do more if possible. Struggling quietly against the spell, visions of Ull'Heimdall and Frigg'Isa begin flooding into the ranger's mind. The soft smell of smoke and Is'blossom begins to drift, seemingly, through his nostrils; that smell draws him close as if lying next to Friga, nose buried in her hair.
"Wunjo, remember, this must have already happened."
Not knowing if his logic is plausible or if his backwoods ideas are nothing more than just that, Nauth holds a look of pure acceptance upon his face; today is the day he will walk with Friga's hand in his and Ull'Heimdall's shoulder against his. There is still the chance, however, that the future God of Balance will swing his pendulum of temperament the other way in the next few minutes. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: actions trying to break free.25

Nauthiz'Ull struggles futilely against the Crushing Hand but it's immense grip is too strong.

Up in the sky, Gargalus looks down at the fight. He quickly realizes that his pets are having a difficult time locating the monster that talks and acts like a member of a Noble race. (This is my second post, it seems I lost the first one before being saved by the system, but hope will not be much difference between the two posts in terms of the rolls... ...well, the result of will save has not changed but tumble rolls have become higher, while AC has become lower compared to the previous ones...)
At least one God, Wardd, does not seem to leave the taur, as Taur manages to dodge all the attacks with his luck and magical abilities. However he is no longer small nor invisible, as his reduce person spell expires and his whole body is covered with some sparky dust. Toros knows this dust, which blinds eyes, from the battle in the castle, however at least for now he seems to see. (d20, 15 + 10(wisdom bonus) + 5(luck point))
The taur is not ready to give up yet and rushes to enter the barrack, hoping to get rid of his followers at least for a while. (move on the line-O and enter the barrack) He will not try to hide anymore but rely on his survivor agility and tumbling ability (tumble checks, 26, 22, 27, 15, 23).
He cannot help but wonder how he and his friend will be saved from this dire situation.

Garrett casts a spell and climbs higher into the sky. He fairly glows with divine magics now as he floats 120' above the ground.
Toroa gets bigger and tries to escape the surrounding fey-trolls. DM Note - calculated AC as 1 (roll) + 3 (WIS) + 6 (DEX) + 1 (natural armor) - 1 (size) + 2 (deflection from Shield of Faith) + 4 (shield from Shield) + 4 (armor from Mage Armor) = 20, 21 vs. one specific opponent Total Defense (std. action) = +6 Mobility = +4 vs. AoO
The deflection bonus from Protection from Evil doesn't stack with Shield of Faith, but should have added to the save from Glitterdust.
You can't Fight Defensively unless making an attack or using a Full Round action, and the Total Defense is a better option anyway.
There are many opponents surrounding him and the liontaur manages to elude only one of the attacks. Still, his commitment to defense means that he doesn't get hit by any of the attacks. DM Note - Seven opponents, so Tumble DC is 27. Two additional Tumble checks made. T8 misses AC 19 T2 misses AC 16 T3 misses AC 19 T9 misses AC 18 T7 misses AC 16 T6 misses AC 25
Nauthiz'Ull and Appolo are unable to act.

Up in the air, Gargalus sees that his spell wasn't enough to disable to pesky liontaur. So he moves downwards towards the ground. Xenia tries to quietly close the gap with the two women, all the while wondering what they are discussing.
As she suspected, the taller of the two women is chattering away as the pair hurry along the path.
"So, they're probably pretty much goners. Right, Thora? I mean, Gargalus let loose those special monsters of his and then he came out himself. And the way he was shouting, he really seemed upset about something. So it's probably a good idea for us not to bother waiting and just head back to Alemi to let him know what happened."
"I bet it was interesting. Do you suppose that they could actually damage Gargalus? I mean, he's real sneaky and all. I bet that he had all sorts of protective magics ready to go. Or nasty things waiting to go off once he was attacked. I'd do that if I was as powerful as him. Wouldn't you?"
"So, do you think that the woman, the sneaky one got away? It'd be a good story if she did. How she got away while her companions held off the hordes. I bet I could make a good song from that story. "

Thanks for all the clarification of AC. Is Gargalus evil or neutral? With base speed of 50 (with longstrider) and double move, and without tumbling could Toros go and jump out of door at the other side of the barrack?
ed. JohnP - Gargalus is evil. With double move, Toros could easily make it out of the barracks and only have to worry about one AoO.
