Before we continue,
- Appolo, please make a Jump check to reach Gargalus and his flying chair. Otherwise, he'll drop you where you stand.
- Nauthiz'Ull (Drew) reports having computer problems. I can sub for him since it's pretty simple (shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot) unless someone else wants to sub.

Consider that 3 rounds have passed for purposes of spell durations.

Full DM post will come tomorrow night.

Toros becomes speechless, when he sees his friends attack the future God. Quickly getting rid of the first shock, nevertheless the liontaur rushes behind Appolo with his healing wand on hand, hiding in the shadows of the rogue.

Rather than wait for Gargalus to signal his monsters to attack, the party charges towards the future god where he hovers over the compound. The chair is approximately 10 feet over the ground.

Appolo tries leaping onto the flying throne that Gargalus rides. He cannot get high enough but might be able to grasp something on the base of the throne and then climb up.
Climb DC 20 to maintain a handhold or fall 10 ft. to the ground (1d6 damage unless Tumble)

Garrett is more direct. He charges while he is still enlarged, swinging as he evades the fey-trolls. He manages to hit Gargalus but the wizard's protective magics turn the blade just enough to prevent significant damage.

A spell flares as soon as Gargalus is injured, and Garrett must resist a spell.
Will DC 26 or be paralyzed

Toros and Nauthiz'Ull stand by while all this happens.

Appolo feels his body lock into position as the spell from Garaglus takes control. He loses his grip and falls to the ground. He continues to struggle against the magic holding him.

The hidden Toros was nearly hit by the falling rogue's body. He stays in the shadows, wondering whether it is safe to reveal himself.

Garrett flies upwards, exposing his back to the fey-trolls around him. None can pierce his magical protections though. When he reaches Gargalus, he swings his sword but cannot penetrate the magical protections surrounding the future god.

Down below, Nauthiz'Ull swallows hard and fires his bow at his Master. Two of his arrows strike home, drawing the attention of Gargalus.

The future god then casts a spell and a glowing outline of a hand appears near Nauthiz'Ull. It moves to grab the flying ranger. Nauthiz'Ull feels it around him and then it mvoes to grip him. Once it has him, it begins to squeeze the life out of the ranger.

The trolls have lost one of their opponents and their master has dealt with the annoying archer who burned them so badly before. Their master has also held another opponent. So there's only the sneaking fraidy-cat to find.

The fey-trolls cast about, sniffing for the scent of a liontaur.

Fey-troll T8 gives a mighty snort and pinpoints Toros' location. It swings a claw at the hidden liontaur.

Seeing this attack, the other fey-trolls cluster around Appolo's fallen body and the hidden liontaur.

Toros heals the fallen rogue one last time - 12 hp and then tries to get rid of the fey-trolls and their copies, trying to surround himself. The agile liontaur tumbles, and hides in the shadows as away as possible from the feytrolls, however recognizing he is not as fast as a couple of seconds ago. (tumble, 28 (with luck points), hide, 25, move silently, 34, expedious retreat has expired, AC, 44)

ed. DM JohnP - Could you describe the path and final destination for Toros? And make multiple Tumble rolls accordingly.

As his Righteous might expires, Garrett briefly looks back at Nauthiz'Ull, amazed that his wunjo has sided with him instead of Gargalus. "Thank you Wunjo...." Garrett's gratitude is cut short as he sees his longtime friend caught in a nasty spell. Realizing that he has little chance of dispelling it, Garrett decides the only way is to kill Gargalus as fast as possible.

Garrett flies up to Gargalus and swings at him, using the granted power of the strength domain to increase his strength by 6 for this round.

The ranger is stunned that his arrows hit mark. Knowing not if this was truly the right thing to do or not he is quickly reassured by his wunjo's voicing of appreciation. Nauth, however, can do nothing to show the cleric of Domi that he would continue to do more if possible. Struggling quietly against the spell, visions of Ull'Heimdall and Frigg'Isa begin flooding into the ranger's mind. The soft smell of smoke and Is'blossom begins to drift, seemingly, through his nostrils; that smell draws him close as if lying next to Friga, nose buried in her hair.

"Wunjo, remember, this must have already happened."

Not knowing if his logic is plausible or if his backwoods ideas are nothing more than just that, Nauth holds a look of pure acceptance upon his face; today is the day he will walk with Friga's hand in his and Ull'Heimdall's shoulder against his. There is still the chance, however, that the future God of Balance will swing his pendulum of temperament the other way in the next few minutes.

Appolo fortunately fell face-up when he plunged from the flying throne so he is able to see something of the battle overhead. He is still Held and, judging from the power Gargalus seems to wield, will be for some time.

Toros uses his wand once more and then tries to tumble away from the fey-trolls surrounding him.
Moving from first square - 5 opponents threaten the space, DC = 23 (15 + 4x2)

The liontaur finishes a short distance away, hidden and looking at his opponents.

Garrett swings at Gargalus when he cast his spell, managing to hit the future god. Then he flies higher and attacks again but misses Gargalus.

Nauthiz'Ull struggles futilely against the Crushing Hand but it's immense grip is too strong.

Up in the sky, Gargalus looks down at the fight. He quickly realizes that his pets are having a difficult time locating the monster that talks and acts like a member of a Noble race. He gestures, concentrating as he does so, and a cloud of sparkly dust settles over where he thinks Toros may be hiding. Then he climbs higher again until he is 100 feet in the air.

Please make a Will save vs. DC 23 or become Blind (-2 AC, no DEX adjustment to AC, move at half speed, -4 penalty to Hide and Move Silent.

The fey-trolls chase after the now-visible Toros and try to hit him.

Garrett Sees his friends down on the ground in trouble, and the wizard flying ever higher who is clearly in the drivers seat. He realizes that there is little he can do except continue to go after the wizard, and hope all his spells end when he does. Garrett casts Divine Power to give him a better chance to hit the flying fiend.

Garrett will then move 60' and place himself in front of and slightly above Gargalus.(Should he dispel my flying before he moves, Garrett would like to be in a position to make a grab for him or his chair to keep from falling.)

(This is my second post, it seems I lost the first one before being saved by the system, but hope will not be much difference between the two posts in terms of the rolls... ...well, the result of will save has not changed but tumble rolls have become higher, while AC has become lower compared to the previous ones...)

At least one God, Wardd, does not seem to leave the taur, as Taur manages to dodge all the attacks with his luck and magical abilities. However he is no longer small nor invisible, as his reduce person spell expires and his whole body is covered with some sparky dust. Toros knows this dust, which blinds eyes, from the battle in the castle, however at least for now he seems to see. (d20, 15 + 10(wisdom bonus) + 5(luck point))

The taur is not ready to give up yet and rushes to enter the barrack, hoping to get rid of his followers at least for a while. (move on the line-O and enter the barrack) He will not try to hide anymore but rely on his survivor agility and tumbling ability (tumble checks, 26, 22, 27, 15, 23).

He cannot help but wonder how he and his friend will be saved from this dire situation.

Garrett casts a spell and climbs higher into the sky. He fairly glows with divine magics now as he floats 120' above the ground.

Toroa gets bigger and tries to escape the surrounding fey-trolls.
DM Note - calculated AC as 1 (roll) + 3 (WIS) + 6 (DEX) + 1 (natural armor) - 1 (size) + 2 (deflection from Shield of Faith) + 4 (shield from Shield) + 4 (armor from Mage Armor) = 20, 21 vs. one specific opponent
Total Defense (std. action) = +6
Mobility = +4 vs. AoO

The deflection bonus from Protection from Evil doesn't stack with Shield of Faith, but should have added to the save from Glitterdust.

You can't Fight Defensively unless making an attack or using a Full Round action, and the Total Defense is a better option anyway.


There are many opponents surrounding him and the liontaur manages to elude only one of the attacks. Still, his commitment to defense means that he doesn't get hit by any of the attacks.

Up in the air, Gargalus sees that his spell wasn't enough to disable to pesky liontaur. So he moves downwards towards the ground. He turns back and makes a little waving gesture at Garrett before casting a spell. Garrett feels all of the magics stripped away from him in that fleeting instant before he starts sinking towards the ground.

As she suspected, the taller of the two women is chattering away as the pair hurry along the path.

"So, they're probably pretty much goners. Right, Thora? I mean, Gargalus let loose those special monsters of his and then he came out himself. And the way he was shouting, he really seemed upset about something. So it's probably a good idea for us not to bother waiting and just head back to Alemi to let him know what happened."

"I bet it was interesting. Do you suppose that they could actually damage Gargalus? I mean, he's real sneaky and all. I bet that he had all sorts of protective magics ready to go. Or nasty things waiting to go off once he was attacked. I'd do that if I was as powerful as him. Wouldn't you?"

"So, do you think that the woman, the sneaky one got away? It'd be a good story if she did. How she got away while her companions held off the hordes. I bet I could make a good song from that story. "

With base speed of 50 (with longstrider) and double move, and without tumbling could Toros go and jump out of door at the other side of the barrack?

The ranger knows taht there is little that he can do and that he possibly has done too much already. A smile manages itself across his deeply tanned face at teh thought that two of his arrows were able to hit his future god. Then a severe frown devours the smile at the thought of his future god disowning him now. Perhaps he will follow Celsiun instead as he is sure that Gargul will not grant him anything anymore.

"WUNJO! Destroy him if possible! He is too much of a coward to deal with us one-on-one! I will die from this spell while he floats on a chair; it is a precursor to his tendancies when he ascends! LAZY!"

Nauth will strugle again to free himself.

DM Apology - Sorry for the late post. Lightning hit right outside the house last night and fried my cable modem, so no connectivity from home. Here at work, repeated server failures meant no access to saved documents.

The fight continues for those still capable of acting. Appolo and Nauthiz'Ull still are unable to escape or act.

Garrett casts a spell to strengthen himself before he lands and must fight the fey-trolls.

Appolo runs away from the fey-trolls who cannot attack the fleeing liontaur.

Seeing the fey trolls converging on where he is about to land, Garrett realizes that he will not be able to get to Nauth in time if he drops to the ground.

Garrett casts Airwalk upon himself, and prevents himself from sinking any further down. He then moves 20' towards Nauthiz'Ull, staying out of the reach of the fey trolls.

Seeing that noone is with him in the barrack for the moment, Toros uses this time to step 5-ft to the wall in order not to be seen and then get his potion of gaseous form and drink it.

The Taur in the gaseous from will try to rise and pass to the second floor, which should not be so difficult to do, by finding a proper opening in the wooden wall between the two floors.

Looking outwards towards his wunjo a calm begins to settle over his face.

"You must escape Garrett Jax As-Domi! You must help Xenia and the actuall future powers of the Wold!"

He looks around again and after a moments thought a deep, painful realization set it. His eyes grow wild as tears begin to streak from their corners. His mouth forms to say something, then it pauses and then his back arcs back in rage.

"HOW CAN THIS BE??!!!!!!! I spent half my life serving YOU!" Nauth thrusts a pointed finger int he direction of the betraying demigod. "You made me waste half of my life!"

Garrett casts a spell and stops falling to the ground, staying just out of the reach of the fey-trolls. Then he moves south towards Nauthiz'Ull.

Toros shifts over the wall and retrieves a potion from where it is stored. Then he gulps the potion down, transforming into an insubstantial form. Then he waits, looking for a knothole to slip through either upstairs or through the wall.
DM Note - Retrieving potion is Move Equivalent, Drinking it another Move Equivalent.
FYI - AC is now calculated as 10 (no roll, inactivated by Gaseous Form) + 3 (WIS) + 6 (DEX) - 1 (size) + 2 (deflection from Shield of Faith) + 4 (shield from Shield) + 4 (armor from Mage Armor) = 28, 29 vs. one specific opponent


Nauthiz'Ull screams imprecations at Gargalus while he struggles futilely.

It is an interesting feeling to be insubstantially floating on the air, however Toros does not have time to reflect upon it. He watches as the claws pass through his form without giving any harm, and without losing time the taur starts rising to the second floor.

Slipping slowly to a darkened cave the ranger can once again see puffs of his breath. The cool cave is much different than the warm clearing in which he was just at. The cave is coated with ice; iced walls and outcroppings, frozen stalactites and the likes hold it, frozen in time, forever. He waits for a moment, wondering where in Celsiun's realm is Garrett. Obviously Nauth has returned home but a foggy mind will not surface the reason at why he would not be by his wunjo's side.

Drifting about through this cave the ranger with eyes like the ulf notice that he leaves not a footprint. trackless...perfect Nauth nods approvingly as he has heard of ranger's with so much skill that they too can walk without leaving a trail. His mind wanders some more as he wipes a fine powder of snow off of one of the frosted walls. Glyphs and runes appear beneath the snow, they are in the form of High Woldian.

There are numerous reasons that can explain what Nauth feels next but none make any sense. His body feels cold, really cold; a state of being that has not been felt for many years. As if that were not enough, something catches his attention from the corner of his eye. There is a great wall of ice with some form or raised platform or pedestal or something before him, sticking out from that wall is a dagger.

And I will fight them to the death if need be. I am more than a match for these fools, as they have yet to even scratch me. Let my friends go, they can do you no harm now, and are no challenge for your monstrosities. I will let you test your creations out on me, and send them back to the netherworld they came from."

Garrett moves 20' toward Nauthiz'Ull, and if with reach, converts his invisibility purge to a CSW. Healing Nauth for 27hp.

If I was able to reach Nauth and heal him, "Not yet wunjo. You have work to do in this world yet. Besides, where would I be without you?"

If unable to reach Nauth, "Damnit Gargalus, if he dies, then you will have to kill me also, because nothing will stop me from coming after you, save death. And even then, you might find a very nasty spirit looking to pay you back."

Toros squeezed his gaseous body onto the roof of the building. He now has a good view of the entire compound, including where Gargalus stands.

Garrett heals the unresponsive Nauthiz'Ull once more while shouting defiance at Gargalus.

Appolo looks upwards in a mixture of horror and disgust. To end this way, lying helpless in the mud.

Spit flies from Nauth's mouth as his eyes begin to pulse in red, blood-shot anger. His whole world is coming down around him and he cannot even die firing a shot at his foe. His master has betrayed him and has shown that the divine have their own agenda; they care nothing for mortal souls.

Domi will now have my prayers whence I return to my real body Gargalus! Your main counterpoint has just grown that much stronger and you have lost a valuable agent. You know not what I speak of yet but rest assured that you will know it in the future!

Nauth does everything possible to tear his way free of the spell (including burning any hero points as dramatic effect) and if he does come free will begin drawing arrow to bowstring.

"Wunjo, we will reunite soon enough, take that damned selfish demigod out!"

Garrett charges towards Gargalus, allowing the enlarged villain to swing at him. Gargalus swing his staff in both hands and hits the Protector hard.

Again there is a great force squeezing the life out of Nauth like a lemon. Again he finds himself in the cold cave but this time the item in the wall is visible and in great focus; in fact, everything else is out of focus. He walks towards the item, a dagger, and frozen tear drops tink off of the ice floor.

Emotions swim through the ranger's heart as he grows steadily closer; emotions that are somewhat foreign to him.

love...home...security...confidence

He tries to call out but two things happen; first, he has no control over what he is saying; second, nothing is audibly produced. Instead he hears a voice so sweet and so loving that his next step finds his knee driving into the flooring with enough force to crack the ice around it. Tears stream faster than before and leave a frozen trail down his cheeks; the tiniest of icecicles begin to form along the corners of his chin.

Appolo watches helplessly. Maybe he will be able to act soon.

Garrett steps forward and swings at Gargalus but misses both times. Even if he did hit, the weapon passes harmlessly through the future deity.

Toros floats further south. And Nauthiz'Ull is simply disabled so that if he chooses to act, he will become disabled.

Gargalus swings once at Garrett, hitting the Protector hard once more. Then he gestures and the hand crushing Nauthiz'Ull moves somewhere else.

Again Nauth finds himself being ripped away from the iced cave...but the dagger was so close. The cave races away from him as he flies backwards out of this surreal episode.

Blinking violently for a second Nauth begins to feel the warmth of Garrett's and Domi's magic wash over him. His eyes take in the scene as fast as the startled ulf. He waits for Garrett's intentions, then acts.

Toros continues to float on the same direction, however being insubstantial and unable to do anything, while Garrett and Nauth suffer has started to become very much unbearable...

Garrett steps ahead and heals the ailing Nauthiz'Ull. He manages to avoid any attacks from Gargalus or the fey-trolls while doing so.

Nauthiz'Ull elects to fire arrows at Gargalus rather than heeding the advice of his wunjo. Only one of his arrows, the most carefully aimed, manages to strike his future deity. Even that arrow doesn't faze Gargalus and it is only the fire damage that affects him. Still, it does draw a menacing glower from Gargalus.
DM Note - It's only 2d10 on a critical, since the multiplier for the bow is X3.

Since Nauthiz'Ull is floating above the reach of the fey-trolls, they cannot attack him.

Toros keeps floating away.

Gargalus snorts at Nauthiz'Ull's feeble attempt at archery.

With that, he gestures and a spell washes over Nauthiz'Ull, stripping away his magics.

Garrett converts his last 5th level spell into a cure critical (concentration check 26)and heals Nauthiz'Ull for 35 hp.

Garrett says to Nauth as he heals him. "There is no time Wunjo. We cannot defeat him, and you know that. Get Appolo and get out of here. I will give you as long as I can. If you don't go now, we all die. I go to Domi, and am proud to do so. Finish the mission and save the Wold."

Floating downward Nauth takes the chance to rip another round of shots off at T4 before landing next to the trollish brute. All four arrows seem to land true; they leave a trail of smoke as the tips ignite in mid flight.

"Wunjo, I am sorry but I cannot leave you. This lord of mine dares turn his back on me wunjo, and he will be dealt with to my fullest degree. Fear not my death either wunjo, we have given this Wold everything we have to offer. I cannot dream a better way to leave and I have twice now seen Friga's dagger in the Cave of the Ancients."

Garrett moves closer to heal Nauthiz'Ull as the ranger floats to the ground. The wounds on the ranger close, leaving him only mildly wounded.
Nauthiz'Ull should have 57 hps after this

Appolo finally breaks free of the spell holding him and he acts immediately. He fires an arrow at Garaglus but watches it sail wide.

Toros floats upwards to escape the fey-trolls but each is able to attack him as he does so. One manages a very good strike but doesn't actually do any damage. Then he drifts slightly with the wind.
T8 - claw misses AC 12
T9 - claw hits AC 29 (threat), not confirmed AC 20, 7 damage (completely absorbed by DR 10/magic ... not considering fey-trolls natural weapons to bypass this DR
Wind is light, from the Northwest.


Nauthiz'Ull ignores the threat of the fey-trolls and fires his bow four times at one of them. He hits with all four shots, inflicting much damage on the fey-troll. In turn, however, the fey-trolls attack the ranger.
