This time the claws find their target on the taur's torso, however Toros feels no pain, thanking to his insubstantial form. Still, he has no chance but try to get rid of these trolls and moves along with the wind further to the South.

Apoll fires three arrows at the nearest fey-troll (T4), hitting all three times. However, only one of the arrows penetrates the fey-troll's tough hide.
Garrett heals himself, making a heroic effort to avoid attacks from Gargalus and the fey-trolls.
Nauthiz'Ull fires at fey-troll T4 but must have been badly shaken by the pervious attacks. He only hits once, scorching the creature slightly. Then the fey-trolls attack the ranger, ripping the ranger to shreds and leaving him a bloody ruin on the ground. DM Note - Nauthiz'Ull took 28 points of damage last round, leaving him with 29 hps. T2 - claw hits AC 25, 11 damage T3 - claw hits AC 22, 10 damage T4 - claw hits AC 23, 9 damage
And Toros keeps floating with the wind.

This quick thought races through Nauth's mind as he watches the fey rip and bite and slice through him again and again, yet this time he feels no pain.
Then he blinks...
His body is washed over with the absolute greatest feeling; a slight cool that starts in his core and works outwards, leaving his fingertips and toes still warm. A cool like the 'summer' mornings of the Vein when he woke early to stretch and track the outside of the village.
He opens his eyes and can see his breath, a comforting sight indeed but beyond that his eyes have yet to adjust tot he glimmering light.
Shifting his weight he hears the sound of crunching snow and icepack which tells him he is home.
A faint smile is growing as he allows his eyes to adjust to the light.

Toros drops to the ground, trying to fold himself into the shadows that are here. He manages to hide, somewhat, but he is as silent as a falling leaf. Hide = 17, Move Silent = 35 (nat 20)
Garrett was stabilized by whatever wand Gargalus used. Nauthiz'Ull is still bleeding out.

The fey-trolls that were attacking Appolo chase after him.
The fey-trolls surrounding the fallen Toros try to locate the hiding liontaur. The first makes a great SNIFF and then claws at Toros. T1 - Spot = 7 (nat 1), vs. Hide of 17; Move action to pinpoint using Scent; Claw misses AC 11
The second manages to see where the liontaur is and unleashes a furious assault. Well, it manages to hit even though it doesn't do much damage. T6 - Spot = 19 vs. Hide of 17; Claw #1 - hits AC 20, 8 damage; Claw #2 hits AC 26, 7 damage; Rend = 11 damage; Bite hits AC 18, 5 damage

Sorry, last round I have meant to move with total defense, thus only T6's Claw #2 hits (AC 26, 7 damage), doesn't it? (Toros AC was 24 with total defense last round, and no rendering damage applies unless both of the claw attacks are successful) Besides, Toros would use his luck points for a better hide check, as he is large in size now.
AC roll is 11. So this turn the total AC is 26. Also +4 to AC for Mobility.

The animated item heals the wounds of Toros (13 hp),while Wardd continues to back him, which give him a chance to escape from the attack of Trolls. In total defense the taur double-moves, trying to leave some space between the trolls and himself, and reach to the compound entrance and then go out of the walls. Everything begins to focus in; the light hurts his eyes no more and the scene is the same, ice covered walls, snow on the ground and High Woldian glyphs dancing about on the ice's surface.
There is a faint voice beconing him to come closer to the object imbedded into the wall. Something flashes across the surface next to it...a woman's face perhaps. The image, although fleeting as it was, fills the seasoned ranger with a sense of love, home, warmth and closure; maybe his time has come?
He reaches out to touch the object, a dagger, but his hand wafts through it; it is not substantial. he tries again, panic rising and whispers a name through a choked throat..
"Frigga..."

But the fey-trolls now block the entrance so he has to climb the wall. T1 AoO - misses AC 21 T6 AoO - AC 24, 9 damage if that hits T7 AoO - AC 27, 12 damage if that hits DM Note - If you wanted total defense, you should have indicated that. - Please review your character sheet since the copy I have has your armor modifier as only +9 (+6 dex, +3 wis, +1 natural, -1 size) and Dodge only takes that to +10 vs. one opponent. - Finally, that character sheet shows the intelligent item as a periapt. - I rolled a '1' for climb, but felt that Toros should be able to make it over the wall.
Appolo runs for the wall.
Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull are both stabilized.

OOC: I had mentioned Total Defense, however you are right that when you read what I had written, the total defense seems to be tied to a condition, which has not worked well. And the AC is true. And thanks for the Climb check. with total defense only T7 hits, 12 hp damage.
While his periapt heals him for one last time (14 hp) Toros just tries to hide and get rid of his opponents. (AC check: 35 (18 d20 + 9 AC +1 dodge + 6 total defense, double movement), hide 35 with luck points, 24 move silently) The taur will lead to the Sout-East to reach where they have left the forest with Garrett.

Run Away! Run Away! (DM JohnP) Wednesday July 26th, 2006 10:58:38 PM Toros and Appolo both manage to scale the wall and escape the compound and the opponents that took the lives of their companions. Now the problem is to collect their wits and head back to Oshirr House. Hopefully the lives of Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull bought Xenia the time needed to elude any pursuers.
And pursuit there certainly is. When Gargalus sees them heading across the grass to the trees, he shouts to his fey-trolls. The pack of created creatures spews from the compound and begins hunting the two escapees. Seeing this, Appolo and Toros have no choice but to run. They've seen what happens when someone tries to stand and fight a pack of these things. Turning tail, they start running towards Oshirr House.

Ahead of them, Xenia suddenly hears the hooting calls of trolls on the hunt. She thinks that she knows what this means ... her companions have escaped. But there's nothing for her to do but to run. And keep running until she reaches Oshirr House.

Back inside the compound, Nauthiz'Ull and Garrett are only dimly aware of their surroundings. Each of them is picked up and carried into the lair of the future evil god. Who knows what unspeakable horrors their unconcious bodies might be subjected to.

A sudden panic hits the ranger as he begins whipping about looks to and fro for his fellow metal clad Protector of Domi. Why isn't he here? Did he make it out okay?
Running Through The Woods (DM JohnP) Thursday July 27th, 2006 11:11:15 PM Appolo quickly realizes that it's useless to try hiding from the fey-trolls. The things can smell his path and unless he can keep far enough ahead of them, he will have no chance to try to throw them from his trail. But this is where his conditioning comes in ... it's time to run.
Toros quickly joins up with the rogue and the two run down the trail. Maybe, just maybe, they'll encounter a patrol from Oshirr House and elude their pursuers.

Ahead of them on the trail, Xenia keeps running. It seems like forever but Thora and Dreana start to look more relaxed. The fire-haired rogue now realizes that they are only minutes, certainly less than half an hour, from Oshirr House.

Back to Oshirr House (DM JohnP) Sunday July 30th, 2006 10:16:22 PM Xenia crosses the final yards of ground to the gates of Oshirr House. When the students guarding the gates see her, Thora and Dreana they open the gates wide. Xenia can see the questions in their eyes. Somehow, the group's mission to Gargalus' lair wasn't much of a secret to the people here. But maybe their target was. Xenia doesn't know and can't tell.
She looks around at the students, wondering what she is supposed to do with the Feystone now. What course should she take? How should she proceed?
She isn't very far into the compound when there is a great tumult of cries from the guards. Looking back outside, she can see the crumpled bodies of two of her companions. From here, it looks like Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull. But it's difficult to tell with all of the blood and gore that covers their bodies.
She turns and goes back to her fallen companions. As she approaches quietly, she sees that a note has been pinned somehow to the cloak on Garrett's back. When she looks closer, she realizes that both of them still cling to life.

Toros and Appolo both keep running. The brief stop to heal allowed the pursuing fey-trolls to close the gap. Somehow, the pair think that they will not shake their pursuers until they reach Oshirr House.

"Alemi!" The dark girl rogue shouts at students who just stand around staring. "Don't just stand there! Get Alemi!"
Xenia stumbles the last few feet to the bodies of Garrett and the Nauth-Whatever-Guy. Struggling out of her haversack is like fighting off a weirdo tentacle squid thing, but finally it's off and she reaches into one of the smaller pouches for potions.
It's in there.
She pops a cap and pours it down the throat of one of the bloody and beaten bodies.
The Power Stone Thing. In the sack. In the big compartment.
Another potion. This one goes down the other throat.
It's in there.
"Now what am I gonna do with it?" the rogue whispers to herself.
Rolls and Actions If we're out of combat rounds, I've got 10 CLW's to burn. 7hp, 8hp, 6hp, 9hp. That should bring them to consciousness. Normally.

In the Gateway (DM JohnP) Monday July 31st, 2006 10:48:25 PM Xenia's ministrations partly revive her two fallen companions. Both Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull start to revive.
One of the students guarding the gate runs off to fetch Alemi, presumably. After several minutes, during which Xenia tends to her companions, the student returns with the commander of Oshirr House.
When Alemi sees the fallen pair, he rushes up and kneels in front of them. He points to the note pinned to Garrett's cloak.
"Do you know anything about this? How did they get here? I presume that you did not carry them, did you?"
One of the students volunteers that the bodies of the pair suddenly appeared at the gate. Alemi nods in understanding.
"Ahh, Gargalus is probably trying to taunt us. Let's see what this says."
The future god reaches out and plucks the note from Garret's cloak. He opens it and reads is silently, frowning as he does so. He folds it carefully before saying anything.
"As I thought. He means to insult all of you and, through you, myself. But that does not matter if you were succcessful? Were you?"
Just then, Toros and Appolo clear the treeline. It's been some time since they last heard the howls of the fey-trolls behind them but running seemed like the best thing to do.

"Um. Yeah. I think." The girl rogue kneels by her two Really-Awfully-And-Grody-Terribly-Beat-Up companions and waves at Appolo and Toros coming out of the trees. "Um ... " She opens the top of her haversack and grips the top of the cloth sack inside gingerly in two gloved fingers. The sack is rent in several places by broken glass. "It's in here."
"Don't touch it," she warns. "It feels sort of weird when you touch it. Like it's pulling stuff out of you."
She lowers the sack to the ground. Then taking one of the lower corners of the sack, she dumps the contents onto the ground.

The dagger. He almost has it in his hand. COntinually swiping at the handle of it as if willing the two to make contact he finally hears...A CLICK! His hand continues to reach for it and click is prduced each time; a ring is the producer.
He actually sees his hand become a milky substance and the leatch bindings of the dagger are felt. Cold; sticky cold.
Then he drinks the warmest liquid he has ever tasted; not the hottest, the warmest. He almost chokes on the liquid. That is when he realizes...both of his hands are trying for the dagger!
The cave races away, as if being ripped away, and there is a transition where the rest of his body begins to feel the same warmth as his throat just experienced.
Then, there are more voices, and a bright light.

Garrett's eyes flutter open and he sees all his companions alive and well, and at Oshirr house to boot. "How did I get here. Who saved us?" Garrett then quickly looks and finds Nauth on the ground next to him, and clasps his shoulder. "I thought we were done for wunjo. What happened?"
Garrett quickly looks to Xenia "Did you get it, did we succeed?"
Handing it Over (DM JohnP) Tuesday August 1st, 2006 10:28:49 PM Xenia tumbles the fey-thingy onto the grass from her pack. Alemi nods when she warns him about the thing. He reaches out, holding his hand just over the stone. He must be measuring it, or reading it somehow. For the future could not be fearful of this little thing, could he?
Then, with a plunging motion, Alemi grips the stone in his hand. His face tightens for a moment and then relaxes. Whatever it is, he seems to have enough willpower to overcome the draining effect.
"I do not know how Gargalus made this thing, but I can sense some of what it does. You have done well for this is the item that will allow me to accomplish my goals. And, then, in your future it can be used for what you seek."
"Take your friends back to the house where you first sheltered. Rest there while I study this thing. While you rest, I will send some people to heal you and provide for your needs."

The oldest student who brought them there asks in a polite and slightly awed voice, "What would you need?"

Solemness while Alemi is taking on the glowing Power Stone Thing. This is the sort of stuff Gods are made of. For the first time the girl rogue sees it. In the back of her mind, she wonders what it must have been like to fight Gargul.
"Wooooo!!!" That's for when Alemi leaves. "We did it!!! Wedidit! Wedidit! Wedidit!!!" She jumps up and grabs Garrett around the neck.
"Oh! Oh, sorry. Oh stars. You're all covered in blood." Half laughing, she helps her companions to their house. "hehe. We did it, guys!"
All the energy drains out of her, though, when they get inside. Not in a bad way, but in a real satisfied sort of got-things-done sort of way.
"Bath ... " the dark rogue says. "Need bath ... Want bath ... "
The warm water is like floating in luxury.

"You did most of it. All I did was distract him by punching his staff with my face."
Garrett thinks quickly about a bath after he takes off his armor, but by the time it registers he is laying on his back drifting into slumberland.

The bath is relaxing, soothing and oh so warm. Xenia calls several times to get extra hot water brought as she soaks in the tub until all the aches and pains have eased.
Garrett declines her thanks but he rapidly falls asleep after removing his armor. Appolo also doffs his armor and immediately looks for a meal.

The rest of the day passes uneventfully, as does the evening. A good night's sleep leaves each of them feeling much better. Students continue to bring food and other simple requests from the party.
By the afternoon of the following day, everyone is getting a bit antsy. They've been here at least twenty-four hours and there is not news yet. And no one has come to thank them, either. And they're still here.

The dark rogue climbs up to the North Wall where they had fought the Great Battle against the Fey Orcs and the Fey Kobolds. She seats herself in the cradle of one of the stone crenellations and looks out over the field, out toward the distant trees.
The emptiness calls up thoughts of Wynn, his thoughtful face, the sound of his laugh, the feel of his body next to hers just before drifting off to sleep. Xenia feels the hole in her heart. And the rogue wants to go home.
Xenia rises and heads back into the compound, wending her way through the buildings toward the place they met Alemi last time. Outside, she heads to the front door. Then, recalling what Alemi had said previously about Concentration, she stops before knocking. Instead, the dark rogue quietly slips into the shadows and opens the door to enter.
Maybe best to find out if he's doing anything he can be bothered for before barging in and trying to bother him.

Staying in bed only when he is forced to, Nauth insists on stretching, slight exercise and some shooting practice as the time passes. His body heals well, knowing full well the ravages of blade, tooth and element; at least the scaring is less than when wounded by the Bevroren Doden.
Nauth, like the ulf, will scout and and pick the appropriate time to confront Xenia when she is alone.
"I just wanted to say thank you for all that you have done. I was supposed to go into the cave with you and I got sidetracked. I risked your life and I appoligze for that. You did the right thing by fleeing and it turns out that it was the best thing you could have done. I am honored to fight by your side."
Nauth will also find a time where he and his closest wunjo, Garrett, can talk.
"I was close wunjo, really close. I was in the Cave of the Ancients. I was at the wall with Frigga's dagger wunjo. I was there. I am sorry for being an inconveniece for you at Gargalus' compound, you wasted too much of Domi's blessed magic on me; please. if such situation arises again, reserve your powers and see through to the end. You magics are no good if wasted on a dead ranger. It seems as though I have placed hope and faith in a fickle god wunjo and at the hands of my god himself I realized that my wold was crumbling around me; I knew not what to do. His selfishness has destroyed my faith wunjo."

Not having much time to get too antsy, Garrett gets a bath, something to eat, and cleans his equipment for whatever may come.
Garrett thinks to himself that he hopes Gargalus from the future remembers who smacked him upside the head and called him out right before he ascended.

Domi's Visit (DM JohnP) Thursday August 3rd, 2006 10:03:36 PM Xenia returns to the scene of their earlier battle. As sitting and musing about a fishy looking bard from the far future, she goes back to the cottage where they first met Alemi. When she slips inside the rogue finds the cottage empty. Certainly Alemi is not there and it looks like he hasn't been there since she handed over the fey-thingy.
Back in the building where they are staying, Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull wax lyrical about their near-death experiences.
After a time, Xenia returns. The enforced idleness is wearing, especially after all they've been through in the preceding couple of days.
Towards evening, there is a polite knock on the door. When someone looks, Domi is standing there. He asks permission to enter and, when it is granted, he enters and nods to everyone present.
"My master ... he's ... I don't know how to say. Obsessed over his plan, I guess. And now you brought him this thing. He's locked himself away in his laboratory, not speaking to anyone nor taking food."
"What was that thing that you brought back from Gargalus' lair?"

Appolo remained quite and relaxed as he healed.Mostly sleeping.Wuite at home.It would seem that the youngman is quite used to strange places and people.
When Domi arrives and asks his question Appolo steps forward."Well it is a very powerful magical artifact created by the Fey King ona whim from what I hear and he gave it to gargulus.It is called the fey stone and is endowed with the fey Kings power.It changed normal creatures into monsters more powerful then the would otherwise be and under the control of Gargulas.One reason you won't be seeing anymore of his creatures is becuase we have the stone,but I don't think Gargulas is to upset about that,outside of the fact he doesn't like getting robbed.He has something else in the works now."

"So, so, so ... if he's not talking and he's not eating ... I think that's a good thing! It means he's concentrating real hard trying to get to the Creator of the Wold!"
"Right?" She turns to her companions and the rest of them. "That's right. Right?"

Domi looks back and forth between the party as they answer his questions. He looks as if he is about to speak but then a student on the south wall shouts out,
"Attackers! Coming from the trees! Lots of them!"
Everyone, Domi included, sprints to the top of the wall. The party can groups of the fey-creatures filing out of the trees. Lots of them, at least as many as attacked during their first night here.
Domi turns to the party, a worried look on his face.
"We don't have many defenders! I have to get Alemi, can you guard this wall?"

"HUH!?!" Xenia snatches at the straps of her haversack a the same time she turns to the sound. "Fram," she curses, "we're in it again."
The dark rogue quickly graps a few potions out of her haversack. She downs two right away. One for speed and a second for some wall crawling. Slipping into her haversack, she palms a third potion to for armor, something she'll not drink till just before heading into the fray.
She puffs out a breath, blowing a strand of hair away from her face.
"Lets go," is all she says as she begins sprinting for the wall.

The party runs to the closest wall, the one to the south. Domi waves at them, shouting something about having to look after Alemi.
The south wall is similar to the wall that the party defended before except for the large gate in the centre. That will make things more difficult especially since they can see many of the fey-trolls leaving the treeline and forming up in preparation for assaulting the walls. It will be a couple rounds before the fey-trolls reach the walls, however, so the party has time to make some preparations.

OOC: Hello all!! Nice to be back from one-week trip to the Wold.
After the encounter with Gargalus, Toros does not appear around for a while. Although he is happy to see everyone alive with the feystone, he cannot justify how all things have developed, especially his uselessness to help Garrett and Nauth to escape from the Future God's temple and compound.
He will run near and ask Domi, "My magic and weapons have been almost useless agains these fey-trolls. However one of your students have a fireball wand, as I remember from the previous encounter. If there is one still available, I could use one such wand that would really do damage on these creatures...!?"

Cloaked in the shadows of the crenellated parapet, Xenia surveys the field on which the forces of Gargulus are approaching. Her voice alone comes from the darkness.
"Hey, guys. You see that?" She points even though there would be few who would see her. "The flying thing in the sky. Sorta reddish. Dunno if that's far away or not. But if I can see it from here ... Well, just wondering how big it is."
With a tindertwig, the rogue lights a torch, and with that torch, she lights others. Some she throws over the wall and to the ground below.
"If you need a fire weapon, there are torches down below," the rogue says from the darkness. "They may not be much. But when a troll's down, you might be able to put them out for good with a good focused hit. (Coup de Gras.) Me and 'Ppolo might be able to keep them down with that."

The party stands on the wall, looking out at the approaching fey-trolls. Appolo is laying in the catapults, trying to arrange to throw flaming balls of pitch at the things.
Xenia makes similar preparations, throwing lit torches over the side that might ignite oil thrown on the creatures.
Toros wants to ask Domi for something but the primal monk has run off to Alemi's laboratory and study. There are no other students on this stretch of wall although they can be seen preparing defenses on the other walls.
Garrett can't see what Xenia pointed out. He casts a spell to improve his mobility during the coming fight.
Nauthiz'Ull simply stands, waiting.
Xenia points out the flying object to Appolo and now everyone can see it. Whatever it is, it's definitely getting closer. But keen eyes might see more ...

Nauthiz'Ull and Toros simply cower in fear, expecting the worst.

Nauth has been pondering what has been going on and what happened back at Gargalus' compound. How could his god betray him like that? How could his god have been so fickle in his mortality? Why was he worshipping this bastard? There was much to think about, so much so that he did not realize what had been happening, until the horns sounded.
Moving as quick as his disconnected body would allow, Nauth races to the wall along with Garrett and the others. He picks a vial from one of the pouches at his side and drains the contents.
"It is a dragon! Time to leap down off the wall will come after drenching it in fire. For now, Xenia holds off on her protective magic, helping Garrett and Appolo ready the trebuchets and stuff.
When the real stuff starts, she gulps her potion and dives into shadow. She'll have to figure some way to keep them troll guys from smelling her. A roll in some orc or troll blood should do it. But first you gotta spill some.

Appolo's words help Toros start to regain his composure, and he looks around to find out a good escape route, if things go wrong. (JohnP, could you please give some information regarding such search of an escape route, thanks...) However, in the deep of his hearth the taur wishes to stay to the end - fighting with his friends, instead of run away as last time. Recognition of this deep honorable feeling encourages Toros more and more, helping him to find what he looks for in order to live on honorably not in the Gods but in his own self.
Finally, the Taur is ready for the final fight... at least mentally, even if not yet physically.

The red dragon looms closer, and the keen-eyed see the figure atop the dragon motion towards the party. Whoever it is riding the dragon has evidently recognized the party and wants to pay a visit. Somehow the figure on the dragon can communicate with the fey-creatures since they stop their advance on the south wall where the characters are.
All the while, Nauthiz'Ull wracks his brain about dragons. His survival skills tell him that it's going to be difficult, nearly impossible to prevail against an experienced dragon and the fey-creatures. Of course, Appolo knew the same thing.
Hmm ... what does Nauth remember from fireside tales. Red ... breathe fire and like hitting things with their claws and munching on rangers. Or rogues, clerics and just about any adventurer, for that matter, as long as they're slightly charred and still wriggling.
Xenia and Toros both figure that discretion is the way to go. Looking over his shoulder, Toros sees all sorts of barracks and buildings inside the compound where he could hide. And there's all sorts of lovely nooks and crannies where he might try to hide in the shadows.
From all appearances, the rider has directed the dragon to land outside the walls without attacking. Could he or she be seeking to parley with the party?
Of course, the party are free to attack it as it lands if they choose.
DM JohnP - You're getting one round of ranged attacks, if you choose. Or you can dive into melee, if you like. Map will go up tomorrow night and party will keep attacking first.

Final Showdown (DM JohnP) Monday August 14th, 2006 10:40:25 PM Xenia is crouched behind a ballista, aligning the huge weapon on the red dragon that crouches outside the walls. Her companions make similar preparations, including Garrett cranking on the catapult. Nauthiz'Ull stands near his companion but doesn't assist with preparing the siege weapon.
Appolo figures that Alemi and Domi will be needed to deal with the combined menace of the dragon and the rider, who he clearly recognizes as Gargalus. He asks that someone go to fetch the future gods and Toros runs to do so.

The dragon's rider slides from the back of the great creature then turns to rest a hand on the beast's neck. Those who are top of the wall clearly see that Gargalus seems to control this great beast.
"So, you made it back here. I owe all of you a debt of gratitude since Alemi would never have taken and used this thing himself if I had offered it. But, if it was stolen by the likes of you, he would use it. And so my plan comes to fruition."

As he speaks, a sudden change comes over the Compound. In fact, over the entire Valley. As suddenly as the ringing of a bell, everything seems to come to a halt and begins anew. In an instant, the Wold somehow changed. It seems more alive -- the air cleaner and crisper, the light brighter, and the birdsong sweeter.
In the ringing silence, a great cry of pain and loss can be heard from the west. In it's wake, all of the fey-creatures collapse to the ground. It was like their animating force was drawn away.
Toros looks towards Alemi's house and sees a crowd of students clustered around instead of defending the walls. At the centre of the crowd he can see the heads of Alemi and Domi and a third figure.
Outside the wall, Gargalus looks up when he senses the change in the Wold. His superior sneer doesn't fade even though his fey-creatures have all collapsed.
"Flame, my boy, you know what to do. Return to me when you have had enough exercise."
With that, he makes the gestures to teleport away. The red dragon looks across at those who are on the wall, trying to figure whether to start with the main course or have some appetizers first.
NOTES: Tell me where you are on the map or else I will place you someplace.
Ballista -- essentially a Huge crossbow mounted on a post. There is a size penalty for firing this size of weapon: -2 for Large creatures, -4 for Medium and --6 for Small. Loading time is 2 full-round actions for a Medium character, 1 full-round action for Large. Damage is 3d8 (19-20, x2).
Crossbow -- splash siege weapon normally served by a crew. For a single character, 10 turns to wind back, 2 to load, 2 to aim, 1 to fire.
Bright fire screams in the dark rogue's mind. But she fires the Ballista in silence. The *thang* of the enormous crossbow is impossibly loud in the quiet before the storm. From the distance comes a meaty thuk, but the rogue is already gone.
Without a word, she turns and dives off the far corner of the tower, leaping over the battlements and drifting to the ground below.

Toros carefully approaches where Domi and Alemi are located, trying to recognize the third person with them.
While coming closer the taur makes his voice heard, "Domi, Alemi, what is going on?" This is questionto address both the sudden change anyone can feel at Wold and the standpoint (literally and physically) of the future good Gods and their students. All is strange!!
Final Showdown (DM JohnP) Tuesday August 15th, 2006 10:50:34 PM Xenia loosed the ballista bolt at the red dragon called Flame, hitting it just under a leg where the scales are thinnest. The creature screams in pain and prepares to fight as Xenia drops off the side of the tower and lands at the base of the wall.
Appolo fires off another ballista bolt that barely misses the future god and buries itself in the sod. Then Appolo leaps off the tower and lands on the wall's fighting platform.
Toros runs towards Alemi, Domi and the third figure. He doesn't immediately recognize the bearded, muscular male figure who stands head and shoulders over either Domi or Alemi. His cries go unheard over the crowd of students. DM Note - Toros is now off the map, feel free to come back.
Garrett and Nauthiz'Ull stand in awe of the dragon's majesty.

Gargalus completes his spell and teleports away.
Flame mutters something in draconic and then lifts his huge body into the air and flies up and over the wall until he is close to Appolo. The rogue and the others on the wall are amazed at the agility of this great beast and slightly in awe of his might.
Appolo, Garett and Nauthiz'ull, please make Will save DC 24 -- Success means no effect. Failure means Shaken (-2 on attacks, saves, skill checks and ability checks) for 4d6 rounds.
Then the dragon hovers 10 feet over the wall so that Appolo cannot reach it.

Breathing hard, the rogue listens as leather wings flap somewhere over the edge of the tower above. She could stay here. She could run. Instead, she begins climbing back up the tower.
Melding into the shadows, Xenia climbs like a spider back up the wall. As she rises to the lip of the crenellation, there he is, The Dragon. It's flapping and looking down on something below. The rogue creeps forward, drawing her bow, getting ready for a sneaky shot.

The ranger watches in awe as the majestic creature lands in front of the tower walls. His vantage point is high but open for anything. He is not affraid of the creature, he is enraptured by it.
How can I defeat this thing?
Slowly chanting a few words, the ranger casts one of his milktoast spells that will most likely prolong his death this day. A slight shimmer envelopes his body and the typical heat waves ripple from his body.
"Umm, what are we doing? Are we shooting?"

Knowing he does not have much time Toros will try to approach further to the future gods, relying on his tumbling, hiding and silent moving skills, if necessary. (13, 20 and 11, without the bonuses, if you may need) And who is this bearded guy, he looks familiar?!?

I think someone is supposed to be subbing for Garrett and has forgotten to do so. I also don't want to continue until he had posted, since it won't be fair to dragon-toast someone who isn't moving.
