DM Bob and Carla Servant Spot = d20=4 Sunday October 1st, 2006 10:32:37 PM On the beach...
The bank which had previously been so very high, tapers down towards the beach. Gecktar and Toros, hugging close to the edge of the beach furthest from the water and closest to the jungle creep closer to the dock. Gecktar is able to make out the figures on the dock as two of Dr. Mauroth's serving men in dark uniforms, a medium sized human wearing camouflage gear, and a large bear-like creature the likes of which he has never seen before. The half-orc serving men share the task of carrying a large chest. Gecktar sees the human direct them to set their burden on the deck of the smaller of two sailing vessels tied to the dock, after which the human and his furry companion board the boat. The servants watch the activity aboard the boat, and when it starts to leave the dock, they move down the dock. Nearing the end of the dock, one of them looks up, and in the general direction of the taurs. (Gecktar and Toros, Hide Check vs DC 4, to remain unseen.)
Gecktar notices there is a path beyond the dock. The taur can only guess where it might go.
In the jungle...
A furious and hurt Brahmah crawls around looking for his gear as Flat-Top and Zeoll try to fill their captain in on how they overcame their adversaries. His gauntlets are gone, as is the helm he had worn upon his head. There is a raw line around his thick neck, where his periapt had been torn away, but he still has his ring. The minotaur's knee presses into the hard metal of his falchion, and he recognizes the comfortable weight of his large mithril shirt on his body. Likely the hunter couldn't manipulate Brahmah's 1100 lb mass, and the taur's prone body had hidden the weapon.
The more he searches, the more items Brahmah finds missing. His iron scroll case and its contents, all of his potions, his money, and his cloak. The taur's anger mounts when he finds his tattoo inks spilled upon the ground, the delicate tools bent and broken. The taur finds his seals where he had affixed them, but the small egg from the fey circle, and the blue WLA badge are missing!

"There was a human archer, and a furry creature Winterglade has never seen before. It was huge and looked like a cross between a werewolf and a bear. It didn't use any weapons, but it could speak, so, for lack of better word, we should assume it was intelligent."
"They left this clearing maybe a quarter of an hour ago. The trail should still be fresh. Rock went with them, but he looked like a prisoner. They ransacked his stuff, too. They went off that way." - the centaur points into the jungle.
[DMs, please correct me if I'm wrong about the passage of time.]
Winterglade moves over Brahmah and patiently taps him with the healing wand time after time while the Captain builds up steam [burned up 13 charges of the wand of CLW, healed up 79 damage total].
Once Brahmah is done laying out plans for the good doctor, Winterglade adds: "We should burn down his mansion first and make him watch."
"The way Winterglade sees things, we need to take care of Rock first. For all we know they might be leading him off to stuff him, mount him, and put him in somebody's saloon as a conversation piece."
"Once that is done, we need to find others and see if they have survived."
"Then we need to check if the Doctor lied when he offered us safe passage tomorrow."
"If he didn't, we need to carefully weigh our priorities. We definitely can't allow the Doctor to continue this practice of his, but we have lost enough time already and who knows what Vargas has managed to achieve in the meantime."
"Either way, we definitely need to settle the matter of this island, either before we leave, or once we return. There is a score to be settled; besides, if we don't, some poor shipwreck survivors might be subjected to the same fate in the future. Winterglade will only ask that we actually check if Mauroth had his hand in anyone's death before Brahmah makes a hat of him. If he didn't, Winterglade says we put him in some prison to rot instead."
Flat-top d20+4=7 Monday October 2nd, 2006 8:13:59 AM
Flat-top listens to Winterglade Tale, "I agree with you Brother Centaur, This Doctor is mad, not just crazy But mad. If he is not delt with alot more poor survivers will be killed! I'll put up a wager that already the rumor of another Centaur has already either killed or put in a privet zoo!"
Flat-top is so mad the he has to punch some thing, he goes over to a palm tree and punches it. Every body watches Flat-top miss the tree.
OOC: I was hoping for a coconut to fall on Flat-top's head!

Game # 7 The Chosen of Domi For the week of Sept 25, 2006
Brahmah Monday October 2nd, 2006 11:11:18 AM
"I say we shove the burning embers of his mansion into his most dark and private regions."
Even with his anger and the pressing fact that things are working against him, he's happy that his falchion is still with him. The thing that hurts is that he earned everything they took and they will likely just sell it for gold. His WLA badge must be reported as stolen if they don't get it back (AND HE BETTER NOT HAVE TO PAY AGAIN TO REGAIN HIS PLACE!!!).
His commissions are safe, they can be paid ONLY to him. His kukri and falchion are in tact.
"Stupid archer didn't take my arrows or bow! What an idiot!" He kind of snickers. "At least I'll be traveling lighter. I knew if I surrendered, they would simply take everything anyway. Figures. I hope he chokes on a potion."
He looks at his arrows and bow and smirks. "At least I can use the bow but it won't be as effective. Does anyone have oil and rags? We'll make an oily, fiery end of his house. Any bows between you?"
"Where's Rock?"
"Did someone say docks? Where? Lets move."
Brahmah additional d20+13=21 Monday October 2nd, 2006 11:15:57 AM
The minotaur tracks the archer. (Survival 21)
(Is Rock's player gone?)
Gecktar d20-4=6 Monday October 2nd, 2006 3:50:20 PM
Gecktar hides as much as he can but the distance seems sufficient to keep them unseen.
Looking at the path coming to the dock he thinks that this could lead to the mansion of the doctor. He then takes the direction of the path staying out of range of the keep senses of the hunters.
Toros d20=14 Monday October 2nd, 2006 5:00:03 PM
The whole scene seems more familiar for Toros and he easily blends with the shadows (14 + modifiers). No wonders he would give wonders to see what was inside the chest. Instinctively he looks for any sign of where other Chosen could be, as he is not sure, if it would be good to follow the path and go to the mansion.
OOC: Sorry for my late return after the trip. Last week has been all rush and I have got a bit sick as a result. But now I am feeling better and in the meantime the game has been going great! Thanks for/to all!
Zeoll (AC16, HP22 of 36) Monday October 2nd, 2006 6:51:24 PM
Zeoll agrees wholeheartedly with Brahmah. "This Doctorr does not belong in the Taurr Isles. Forr one thing, he is evil. Forr anotherr, he is not a Taurr. I wish nothing morre than to rremove him frrom this place, prreferrably on the point of my sworrd."
"But we have to be smarrt. We werre foolish to fall into his powerr. Now we must act with intelligence."
"I think we should go down to that dock and boarrd that boat. We can make a magical suggestion to the captain that he let us on boarrd and that he leave rright away."
"Then we can confrront the ones that attacked Brrahmah and Winterrglade. They will give us back the things they took, and they will tell us what happened to RRock. We will sail out of sight of this island. We will make surre it is marrked on ourr map so we can come back herre."
"Then we can eitherr go on to finish ourr quest, and laterr rreturrn to this place and ourr unfinished business with the doctorr. Orr we can take contrrol of the ship, sail arround to the otherr side, come ashorre, and surrprrise the Doctorr."
"What do you all think, my frriends?"
DM Bob and Carla Monday October 2nd, 2006 9:50:31 PM
It takes Brahmah a while to collect what gear the hunter left behind. Whether the fellow was in a hurry, or did not appreciate the taur sized equipment will remain a mystery. Regardless, the minotaur is glad to find his weapons intact, and regales his companions with a colorful description of his plans for his enemies.
Winterglade elaborates on what he witnessed while hiding in the jungle, and points out the direction taken by Rock and his captors. The centaur gives his wand of healing a serious workout, while expressing his concern over the fate of the unfortunate minotaur wizard. Winterglade is torn between seeking revenge against Dr. Mauroth, and escaping the island to continue his mission for Domi.
Zeoll is similarly conflicted. His anger against their cruel host is palpable, yet the wemic is conscious of the party's quest. He suggests a few options, including an escape from the island, with a plan to return stronger and with a plan to take the doctor by surprise.
Flat-Top seeks an outlet for his anger, and nearly gets sore knuckles for his trouble.
Healed, and with equipment securely stowed, the Captain of the Chosen of Domi leads his party in the direction pointed out by Winterglade. The minotaur finds only the tracks of the heavy, cloven hoofed minotaur. The bearhound, and the hunter have left no trace of their passage.
Having vented their anger, Flat-Top, Zeoll, Winterglade, and Brahmah feel the cumulative effects of a very long and very hard day. Those who have expended additional force with the application of their magics, realize how vulnerable they now are. With perhaps 2 hours of daylight remaining, they trek along the jungle path.
Elsewhere on the island...
Gecktar and Toros remain hidden from view, and watch as the uniform clad half-orcs disappear down the path. Toros speculates about what must be in the chest set on the smaller boat, as the distance between the boat and the dock widens. A square sail is soon up, glowing orangey-red in the setting sun, and the boat, its passengers, and the chest are soon but a small dot on the Lotophagi Ocean.
The taurs realize there isn't much daylight remaining, as they turn inland and follow the trail taken by the doctor's servants.
(Spot and Listen Checks by all of the Chosen, please!)

DM Bob and Carla Wednesday October 4th, 2006 6:09:29 PM (OOC: Only Gecktar and Toros, (and Paw'kah)have seen the dock with the boats. Only those who looked at the map in Dr. Mauroth's study would know where it is located on the island.-DM Carla)
Winterglade, Zeoll and Flat-Top follow Brahmah as he tracks the route taken by the captive minotaur Rock. His eyes on the trail, and his mind pre-occupied with speculation on the whereabouts of the captive, he pays no heed to his surroundings. An image of a blood red sun setting on the horizon, the dark green canopy of trees below, flashes across his mind's eye, and the taur knows his avian companion is not only alive, but not too far away.
Making no attempts to avoid detection, the taurs continue to talk strategy. Rounding a bend in the jungle, the party comes to a kind of clearing, where the path is transected by another. The three taurs behind Brahmah see movement in the forest to their right, as if someone or something is coming along the path. Zeoll and Flat-Top hear voices. Flat-Top can make out snatches of words Highlight to display spoiler: {"...must concentrate on finding...the other Chosen..". and a second voice"... hope we can also find the others..."}
Elsewhere...
Gecktar leads the way, with a cautious Toros close behind. The minotaur does not pay attention to his surroundings, as he turns to look over his shoulder and speak with his companion, or looks up through the tree-tops in an effort to keep the golden eagle in view. Toros, on the other hand sees that they are approaching a clearing of sorts, and a path emerging from the left. The wemic sees movement in the forest, but can not make out the forms. He hears voices too, but can not make out what is being said.
Winterglade d8+1=9 d8+1=8 Thursday October 5th, 2006 4:53:02 AM
"Winterglade haven't heard anything about Gecktar or Toros."
The centaur is lost in thoughts, but some words being said around him do register.
"Vengeance? Is that what we are after now? Winterglade hopes not. Vengeance is a straight and short road right into the tender embrace of the Ones that Test."
Then he notices Zeoll is wounded and heals him twice with the wand [17 healing]. "Better spend two charges now than regret it in the night."

DM Bob and Carla Thursday October 5th, 2006 8:00:39 PM Winterglade worries about the motives of his companions, and performs a little first aid on Zeoll.
Suddenly, warnings are sounded by Zeoll and Flat-Top. Brahmah gets out of the way, preparing his bow as he waits for the enemy, while the druid swings his drum 'round to his front and prepares to drum out a hypnotic tune. Toros Friday October 6th, 2006 1:46:32 PM
Very much happy to see the Chosen back together, Toros talks more than usual...
"Gecktar, look at that, finally something good has started to happen..."
"Flat-Top! Brahmah! Zeoll! Winterglade! Good to see you again! Are you all right?
You mean they have kidnapped Rock...? Lets check the trails, I can help Brahmah..."
"What kind of creatures attacked you? Gecktar and I had to deal with some sea hunters with nets and water spells."
"You mean they have got gear of Brahmah..."
"A bear-like creature and a human sailed out to Lotophagi Ocean with a big chest with them. The dock is not far away from here..."
Brahmah AC 22, hps 92/93 Friday October 6th, 2006 3:49:59 PM
"Yes, they took most of my gear. Nothing but common thugs... but the things that truly bad is that they have Rock! We need to track them.
Is everyone healed? My potions are gone so I can't help today."
Winterglade Saturday October 7th, 2006 6:48:12 AM
Winterglade becomes agitated.
"That's what you have seen? Just the two of them sailing off? Oh dear, this is bad, this is very bad. Last time we have seen them, and it was not too long ago, Rock was with them. Now you say they left the island alone?"
"Let's hope they have set Rock free and went on their merry way. Otherwise we will have to find Rock and bury him."
"Have you seen any other boats at those docks?"
Flat-top Saturday October 7th, 2006 8:39:26 AM
"Wait a minut Brother Centaur! It could be that he had taken Roc as prisoner and left the animal behind. So nobody would follow him?? What do the rest of you think?" ask Flat-top.
Brahmah Saturday October 7th, 2006 10:58:53 AM
"Okay Chosen. Settle down. If Rock has been taken on the boat, there is NO way to get him now.
The Doctor may still be here on the island and he is a threat to the taurs of Taur Island and needs to be removed.
I don't think its a good idea to camp on this island, even with a watch, but we have no choice. I see no other way of getting off anytime soon.
Any ideas?"
Zeoll (AC16, HP36 of 36) Saturday October 7th, 2006 5:40:19 PM

Winterglade Sunday October 8th, 2006 7:26:34 AM
"Flat-Top, Winterglade thinks Toros and Gecktar would have recognized Rock if it was him who boarded the boat."

Flat-top Sunday October 8th, 2006 7:45:56 AM

Brahmah Monday October 9th, 2006 3:55:34 PM
"I suggest a night assault. After healing and recovery. If it takes a few days to heal, so be it."
Brahmah frowns slightly. "I am just remembering the dinner and how I seemed to be the only one cautious enough to avoid getting drugged and captured. I suggested staying away from dinner but was talked out of it. We, as a group, have grown fearful and complacent Zeoll. Zeoll, Flat-top, remember the days when we were afraid of nothing? Oh, I forgot your his successor Zeoll, but Flat-top should remember." He looks a his hooves. "I am growing wary of this pansying about and tippy-toeing around. Its got us nowhere. Just seems like one barrier after another hits us head on.
Balls, wars, black mystery blades, shipwrecks and whacko doctors were NOT on my lists of do's this year. I want to get this taken care of as soon as bloody possible, friends."
His anger is visible, but subsides slowly. "Look. I was mugged, for the SECOND time in my life just a few hours ago. I'm not happy and am not thinking clearly. But.... if we stay low for the next few days, avoiding the doctors cronies, I believe they will soon believe we have escaped or died from injuries. We spy on the manor for a bit. Then, when we are sure they have stopped looking, we pounce."
"I fought the Doctor one on one. He's a tough SOB and frankly its not something I want to do alone again. He has several orc gardeners who fancy themselves fighters that don't fight but confuse easily. There is a window from the garden to the Doc's office. He also has a secret exit in the room; how he escaped me. The doctor not only is a good swordsman, he is a magic user of some power. He cast Darkness when we were fighting. He has great hearing too. His gaurd are well armored.
I think thats all I know about this place."
He thinks for a few minutes. "Perhaps staying in the forest might be bad. I would think they would check the beach often. They plains are a bad idea. Where should we stay?" Asks the ranger. "I think if we set up look outs in the canopy, we should be fine. Though, I think the doctor and his men know our animals. Could we charm some to befriend us? We will need to cover the tracks when we move."
Flat-top Monday October 9th, 2006 6:49:31 PM
"Yes! Captain! I remember the good old day, and I remember the price we had to pay for doing so.
I think with this so called doctor, He need all the resorse we can get. This hunt was supose to be a piece of cake for the hunters. We were going to be trophys. BUT what about the Good doctor, What did he get out of this?? Hmmm! I wonder if his prison cells are empty? More subject to tourture?
Some thing else I remember, I was not quite out when we were brought down to our cells!! I can remember them taking us to the library and open a secret pannel, But I moved and they knock me out. Yes I would like to distroy those cells." Flat-top tell the group!
DM Bob & Carla Monday October 9th, 2006 11:19:10 PM The story so far...
The Chosen of Domi gather together in the gloom and each recounts what they know. Gecktar and Toros tell how their opponents wielded nets and tridents and seemed equally at home in the water as on land. They resembled large two-leggers except they had bluish skin and a crest that ran from their head down to their back. One was killed, and the other disappeared after being sorely wounded. On heading southward, the party witnessed two individuals board a small boat, and sail away. One boat remained docked. The taurs followed two half-orc servants and thus discovered the path through the woods.
Brahmah recounts quite accurately what he remembers of his encounter with Dr. Mauroth. How the doctor seemed equally comfortable with swords and magic. How when sorely wounded he had retreated to some secret hiding place, and thus evaded the captain of the Chosen. Brahmah is pretty sure he can lead the party back to the manor, and find a way to sneak into the house, if that is the plan the party agrees to. Though he is angry at loosing his gear, and concerned about the capture of Rock, he appears more concerned that the party is being lead astray from their original mission.
Flat-Top and Winterglade speculate on Rock's fate, and Zeoll suggests the party hide out somewhere on the island, learn more about the movements of the doctor and his staff, and plan their retaliation strategically.
Those who require sleep, are able to catch a few zz's, while those who find their strength in other sources are able to apply themselves to other tasks. In the morning, the Chosen of Domi find they have recovered from their hurts, thanks in great part to the ministrations of the centaur cleric, Winterglade.
*****************************************
In the morning, the blue colour of the sky glimpsed between the green of the canopy overhead confirms another beautiful day.
Winterglade Tuesday October 10th, 2006 3:57:41 AM
[Couldn't have crafted the cloak this night, I forgot I don't have the spell ready, sorry.]
Right before dawn Winterglade quietly leaves the camp, mentioning that he will return in about an hour. Then he goes for his run, trying to stick to open spaces [standard selection of spells, but Endure Elements over Detect Evil and Comprehend Languages].
When he returns he shares his thoughts.
"Winterglade wouldn't count on us being able to pass unnoticed on this island. He doesn't know what happened to you, but him and Rock have been found in the middle of the jungle by some kind of talking head, a magic messenger sent by Doctor. It would be unwise to assume he couln't send that thing again and have his thugs follow it."
"Winterglade thinks the other boat is meant for us to leave on, as he said yesterday."
"Rock seems to be priority number one for today, but then we will have to ask ourselves if we can really spare a week or so for a campaign against the Doctor. We have lost enough time already and, as much as Winterglade feels humiliated by the defeat at his hands, we need to remember that the game against Vargas is played for a much higher stake."
"Winterglade suggests that for now we continue to follow Rock's trail. We can make plans as we go."
Brahmah Tuesday October 10th, 2006 5:57:26 AM
"Zeoll and Winterglade take first watch, Toros and Gecktar take second, Flat-top and I take third. Two and a half hour shifts. Keep your eyes open and wake me if there are any problems."
"Glade, for all we know, the second boat is yet another trap. We should wait for night and scout the ship."
He clears out any broken equipment (except broken or bent tattoo gear) and sorts the remaining gear, repacking it. The ranger wraps some spare cloth (cloth, moss, anything that may hold oil) around a few of his arrow shafts and prepares his bow for combat.
Having said his peace, the ranger falls fast asleep, happy that the falchion remains with him. He would never sleep again if the falchion was taken. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In the morning, the minotaur prepares his only remaining spells and can no longer prepare second level spells, so the prep moves fast.

Flat-top Tuesday October 10th, 2006 9:15:42 AM
Flat-top takes the third watch with the Captain, as the night wear on, He tell the Captain about what had happen to him.
In the morning he sees Winterglade going for his run, Flat-top still being on duty Yells at his center Brother, "Winterglade! Be Careful! Be Very Carefull!"
When Winterglade comes back, Flat-top will listen to what He (Winterglade) has to say, "Alright everybody! this is what I have to say, I would love to kill the doctor and burn down this place! BUT we have another duty to do first! And that is the Duty to Domi! He wanted us to go back home, there is alot of taurs and people that are being Hurt by our Hight Elders.
Right now They, up there in the Mansion feel safe and think we are dead! So let's take the boat Now! and sail off to find Roc, then go back Home and finish Domi wishes." That was all Flat-top had to say.
Gecktar Tuesday October 10th, 2006 2:38:24 PM
Gecktar takes his watch turn asociated with Toros. While they stay alert he discusses with his friend about what to do next. They talk with a low voice so as to don't disturb the sleep of the other.
"We will eat well tomorow. I have a spell that will alow us to have a good meal. Maybe not flavorful but sufficient to have our head clear."
"... Do you think we have a chance to catch back Rock ? I fear they will deliver him to Vargas and that he will use him..."
Zeoll Tuesday October 10th, 2006 4:32:10 PM
Well, the party consensus is to rest, so Zeoll takes his assigned watch.
In the morning, Zeoll is willing to seek out the ship and return to the quest of the Black Sword. But he feels sure that this is not the last the party has seen of the good doctor or his island!
Druid spells prepped: standard array but swap charm animal for entangle and speak with animals for obscuring mist; and fog cloud instead of tree.
DM Bob & Carla Tuesday October 10th, 2006 11:12:56 PM
Speculation continues as to the fate of Rock. What is pretty certain is that he has been captured, and in all likelihood brought to the doctor. What is not known is if he still lives as a prisoner in the mansion, or if he has suffered an ignoble death and now decorates Dr. Mauroth's study. Flat-Top suggests that he may have left the island with the departing hunter and bearhound, however Gecktar and Toros are pretty certain they did not see the taur board the boat, and though the chest that accompanied the hunter was large, it didn't seem large enough to carry a hidden minotaur.
Winterglade retraces the party's steps on the trail as he runs towards the site of the ambush and back, after a warning from Flat-Top. Gecktar busies himself with provisioning for the group, who break their long fast. Brahmah prepares for the day and suggests the party scout the docked ship. Zeoll agrees with the majority who despite their understandable worry for their missing companion, decide in favor of checking out the dock.
(OOC: No response to e-mail sent to Rock's player this past week, alas. We will continue with 6 Chosen of Domi. Rock's fate can be learned at a later date.-DM Carla)

Winterglade Wednesday October 11th, 2006 4:12:39 AM
"Decision time, Taurs. It seems it is either an assault on the mansion to try to save Rock or taking the ship and sailing off to stop Vargas."
"Winterglade feels we should find Rock, even if it jeopardizes our quest against Vargas. Leaving him here to uncertain fate feels to be against everything the Brawler stands for."
Zeoll (AC16, HP36 of 36) Wednesday October 11th, 2006 6:47:07 AM
Zeoll seems very conflicted. "I too would prreferr to searrch forr Rrock and confrront the doctorr. But some strrange prrompting frrom the pit of my gut tells me that Rrock's fate is out of ourr hands. We should prress on to Varrgas. Maybe Rrock is dead, capturred orr escaped, but ourr mission is elsewherre."
"We must hold ourr angerr and rreturrn herre anotherr day."
Brahmah Wednesday October 11th, 2006 11:26:28 AM
"If Rock was supposed to be in Domi's plan, he would have been around longer than a day and a half. I, on the other hand, had my suspicions about him. He found out alot about us, then, suddenly, we were prisoners. If I see him again, I'll be sure to extract what I can about the Doctor."
He pauses, "The mission is the most important issue right now. If Rock was a Chosen, he will understand if we leave him behind to continue.
And as much as revenge is still on my mind, I think scouting the mansion by night and assaulting it also by night is the best way to go.
However, I too think we should push on to destroy that devil Vargas. That ship is the next stop. If we have to take it by force, so be it. We'll use that pent up energy we've been saving."
Flat-top Wednesday October 11th, 2006 5:42:09 PM
Flat-top has a funny look in his eyes, "You know? We forgot something!! When we met Roc, did he not say that there was another Taur that was wash up on shore too??. I wonder??"
Gecktar Thursday October 12th, 2006 3:18:30 AM
In the morning Gecktar prepares the meal. Praying Domi and thanking him for the life he has chosen for them. After a moment a decent amont of gruel appears and anyone can satisfy his hunger...
"Maybe, we should not let our anger direct our lives. I feel that you're right Captain. Maybe we should let the doctor here and continue our quest to be first to find what Vargas is looking for..."
"Next time you rest at the leagues, maybe you should report what's happening here..."
"Yes, the doctor has to be stopped, but we have a more urging quest."
Winterglade Thursday October 12th, 2006 4:47:44 AM
The centaur listens to what is being said.
Finally he concludes: "Winterglade is bound by his word to follow you until Vargas' scheme is thwarted. He shall accept your decision, of course."
Brahmah Thursday October 12th, 2006 8:38:33 AM
The ranger looks at Flat-top. "Your right! He DID say that. But none of US saw this supposed taur. And I saw no other tracks. Maybe if there is another taur on the island, maybe he was caught as well or maybe he knows how to elude capture."
"I still think that the ship is the best place to go."
Flat-top Thursday October 12th, 2006 12:33:06 PM
"You are right!" tell brahmah, "To the ship it is! then back home."
Brahmah Thursday October 12th, 2006 5:19:08 PM
"Two votes for the ship. Do I hear a few others?" Smiles the minotaur.
Zeoll Thursday October 12th, 2006 8:27:06 PM
"Ship."
DM Bob & Carla Thursday October 12th, 2006 8:35:19 PM (OOC: Received a request for information on where the party is in relation to some of the key landmarks on the island. I have provided some hints in the DM posts, but perhaps they are too obscure. I haven't seen too many dice checks after questions, though! However, to keep things rolling...)
The consensus seems to be in favor of checking out the dock and escaping the island with plans to pay the doctor a return call at a future date. Brahmah tries to orient himself and his party with regards to where they are on the island. He knows that when he left the manor and ran into the woods, the trail went north. Zeoll and Flat-Top report they were in a plains environment, but not the same one the party experienced earlier in their exploration of the island. The wemic and centaur took a southerly path through the jungle until they came upon Winterglade and their leader. Toros and Gecktar report they were on a beach, but not the same beach on which the party had landed after the shipwreck. They, too, headed south where they spotted the dock, at which point they cam inland from the west, going east.
Toros remembers the map from the library. The island was shaped like a fat crescent moon with beaches on the east and western shores, tablelands at the northern and southern ends, and a jungle in the middle, containing the valley in which the doctor's mansion was located. The Chosen deduce that they had gone south along the eastern shore, across the plains at the southern end, and north through the jungle to the manor. The doctor had initiated his hunt at the northern end on the island, and the party had then worked their way south towards the middle.
Toros and Gecktar are pretty sure they could reach the dock in about an hour is the group travels quickly. Brahmah figures he could backtrack to the manor, but it would take about half a day.
Gecktar Friday October 13th, 2006 3:10:37 AM "I'm almost sure that we can reach the dock quickly. But by the way we took a ship, are we able to maneuver it. I know our captain and Flat-Top are sailors but none of the other are. We learned some notions about it during our trips but will it be sufficient ?"
"If no, we have to find a crew able to do it. And this way, we should be careful about what we do when we reach the docks. I mean, assaulting the docks if there are some sailors isn't the best idea we shoud have. Intimidating them should be best, or even convincing them."
Winterglade Friday October 13th, 2006 3:12:54 AM
Winterglade stands a bit away from the group, his arms folded on his chest. He has said what was on his mind. The decision is up to the Chosen now. His thoughts start to wander. The jungle is nothing like the Great Plain, but there is something in the air that smells familiar... Pity the wind doesn't make it below the treetops...
How come it is such elusive things that remind me of my homeland and not the grasses we have been travelling through just two days ago?
Flat-top Friday October 13th, 2006 9:51:31 AM
Flat-top stand there with arms folded across his chest, "If the the ship has more than two mast, then I cannot climb to either releast them or try to fix them. A lointaur can do that! But if the sails top are on rings, those I can handle. I you want i can show you how to handle thing on deck. any takers??"
Toros Friday October 13th, 2006 11:35:46 AM
Toros is quite confident to take the Chosen to dock, although he has some other concerns...
"I also think Rock's mission has been what has had to happen in this island, and whatever this mission has been, it is over now, as the Gods want like that. However, still, we have not seen any dream from Domi recently - so I cannot quite determine what would be the best to do as the next.
As for going to the dock, it would be pretty easy, however I hope we could find the other boat, when we get there."
OOC: Thanks for the great NPCing for Toros, sorry for not being able to post - just too busy recently....

With heavy hearts and worry about Rock's fate, the Chosen of Domi head for the site of the dock. Brahmah leads the way. Following Toros and Gecktar's directions, he has no difficulty navigating the path and leading his companions safely through the jungle. It is still morning when the party reaches the point where the jungle ends and the beach begins. The dock is just a little way ahead, and a boat can be seen moored beside it.

With some trepidation, the Chosen of Domi pause at the edge of the forested area. Most of the taurs notice two individuals standing on the dock, but Brahmah and Toros notice that they are talking to a third two-legger who is standing below them on the deck of the boat.
Toros can tell they are talking, but he can not hear what they are saying. Winterglade can make out snatches of conversation. Highlight to display spoiler: {"How long...'spect us to wait around?...come back later...survivors...anywhere they want to go..."}
Brahmah judges that the distance across the beach to the dock is about 100 ft. and from the end of the dock to the 3 individuals and the boat is another 100 ft. The area offers no cover for those who might try to hide.
Zeoll d20+17=30 Monday October 16th, 2006 11:29:40 PM
[OOC: Does the boat look big enough for all of us?]
Zeoll says to the Chosen and especially to Toros: "Come, my frriends! Let us barrds fascinate the thrree on the dock and apprroach them. I'll fascinate the two on the Dock, and Torros, you fascinate the one on the boat."
"My frriends, rrememberr the rrules of Fascination! Drraw no weapon! Aim no missile! Cast no obvious spell. Do not be aggrressive!"
"Let us barrds go firrst, then follow peacefully and slowly behind. We will stop in short rrange, about 30 feet. You all stop 10 to 20 feet behind us."
"I will talk with those people. Maybe I will use suggestion orr charrm. But I will trry to gatherr info and securre ourr immediate passage."
Zeoll gets out his drum and steps out ten feet -- with Toros beside him! If Toros does not agree, he will not go alone.
Zeoll plays his drum and sings to fascinate the two on the dock. His perform check (the Will Save) is a 30. Those two have to roll a Will Save 30 to avoid the fascinate.
Winterglade Tuesday October 17th, 2006 3:54:06 AM
"Sh! Sh! Aww, not the drum! Winterglade almost made out what they were saying."
"There might be no need to work ourselves up that much for this meeting. If Winterglade understood correctly what they have been talking about then they are waiting for us to take us away from the island."
The centaur leaves the cover of trees and follows behind the bards, his tail weaving left and right to the tune. He does his best to appear harmless.
Toros d20=15 Tuesday October 17th, 2006 5:36:16 AM
"Let the bards try their chance, Glade ... If they are waiting for the Chosen, here we are..." whispers Toros to Winterglade, showing his intention not to disturb his concentration to listen to the talks of the three at the dock; however, the shadowdancer bard moves to follow Zeoll. As soon as they are within range and see the two-legger on the boat deck, his elegant movements turn into a fascinating dance, partnering with the shadows around as well as improvised and inspired by Zeoll's drumming. The more they approach, the better his dance performance with the shadows becomes. This is what he had intended to do at the first time he was together with Gecktar here, thus he is already prepared, while being supported by a trustworthy accompany.

I forgot swimming isn't easy for centaurs and most wemic don't like water. But if we minotaurs swim out and the other distract, we can't catch them unaware."
"Then there is always the other plan. My type of plan... just walk up." That said, he notices that Zeoll is heading out... "Sheesh... are we ever going to agree that this singing thing is a bad idea?" He slings his bow and steps out, hands twitch toward his swords.
"This looks just too convienient. Too easy. Six on three... not good at all."

Having caught a bit of the conversation between the two-leggers, Winterglade suspects the Chosen may be expected by those on the docks. Taking matters into his own hands, Zeoll swings his drum front and center, and begins to tap out a hypnotic rhythm. Toros moves forward, then back, in a fascinating original dance during which he appears to merge and blend with the shadows, only to emerge and reappear. Gecktar follows the bards, Winterglade beside him, his tail swinging back and forth with the rhythm of the music, while Flat-Top and Brahmah form up in the rear, the latter's hands twitching anxiously over his weapons, while the former focuses on the sailors on the dock.
As the parade processes across the sand towards the dock, the sailors look up. One points out the Chosen, while the one that was on board the boat climbs onto the dock and turns towards the procession. The three move down the dock, effectively blocking the way to the boat that is about the same size as the Xebec that first carried the party. The sailors appear quite animated. Flat-Top can make out bits of their conversation Highlight to display spoiler: {...is it time a'ready?...where's that bloke, Stevens?...ya' think they up and killed 'im to?...prob'ly ate 'im fer breakfast, 'ats me guess...}. Though each has a weapon or two on their person, no attempt is made to arm themselves as they watch the Chosen approach.
As the party close the gap*, the trio become mesmerized by the music and the elegant dance of the two wemics.
*(OOC: Fascinate: "must be within 90 ft."-p. 29 PHB. I will allow that the party crossed the beach and are at the start of the dock. The sailors are approximately 70 ft. away. The dock is approximately 20 ft wide. )

"Stevens the Doctor's head loser. He's part of the lot who need to die." He whispers.
Prepped Spells: Pass w/out Trace, Speak with Animals
Gecktar Wednesday October 18th, 2006 4:39:43 PM
Gecktar approches the men. "Are you waiting for someone ? Because, if you don't see any objections we are going to leave this place with the ship here"
"Are you the sailors who are maneuvering the boat ?"
DM Bob & Carla Wednesday October 18th, 2006 8:22:54 PM
A carnival-like atmosphere takes over as the Chosen of Domi march up the dock. The taurs form a long, processing line, Zeoll first, with his drum, followed by the graceful Toros, Gecktar, Winterglade, a reluctant Brahmah and an exuberant Flat-Top. The taurs progress three shuffle steps on the beat, followed by a kick that is slightly ahead of the fourth beat, and then repeat the sequence until the tawny bard reaches the crew of the ship, and stops 25 feet in front of them. While Zeoll studies the trio (and finds them rather ordinary if somewhat unkept humans), Gecktar makes enquiries.
While his two buddies gaze at the drumming bard in fascination, the third fellow, volunteers, "we be the men of this 'ere boat. Us, an a few more below decks." The fellow hooks a thumb over his shoulder signifying the ship, "we be waitin' for the ones what made it through the hunt. We be paid by the owner of this 'ere island to take 'em where's they wants to go." The man, much shorter than the taurs goes on tip-toes and cranes his neck to see past the Chosen of Domi, before continuing, "Where's the bloke name 'o Stevens? He be the one wit' the gold to pays us and the letter 'bout who we be es-cor-tin'."
Winterglade Thursday October 19th, 2006 4:26:01 AM
"Mystery solved, then."
"We are your taurs, my good man."
"Winterglade is happy to leave this island, even if it means boarding another ship. The weather was nice but the local quisine left a lot to be desired. Let's have our next holidays somewhere nicer and safer, like a dragon's lair maybe, no?"
"Shall we get onboard?"
Flat-top Thursday October 19th, 2006 5:19:39 AM
Flat-top don't like what he hears, So he will whisper to Brahmah, "I don't like this! Sound like we are being led to be handed over to the Clerics on our Home Land! Captain."
Flat-top heart sinks a little, as he think of their special Children, that they had to leave behind at the orphernage. He might just never see them again.
Zeoll d20+15=32 Thursday October 19th, 2006 6:48:06 AM
Zeoll smiles as he ends his song. He listens to the men and smiles.
"Ah, yes. We herre arre the only ones left frrom the hunt. Stevens said to tell you that we would be the ones to pay you. In fact, he was busy and won't be coming. He said that once we arrived, therre was no rreason to delay. Let me just say a little prrayerr to Domi forr his prrotection on the trrip ... " (this provides cover for spell casting in case it is needed) " ... and now I Suggest that we leave rright away!"
Zeoll's bluff check to prretend to have instructions from Stevens is a 32! Woot!
The Will Save DC against his Suggestion spell is a 19. He uses it on the sailor who seems most in charge, or if that is not obvious, then on the shortest one.
Brahmah d20+11=29 Thursday October 19th, 2006 8:37:51 AM I wish the others would shut up and let Zeoll do the talking. Thinks the leader, who glances at the others as if to say those exact words.
Zeoll is an amazing taur. A taur fitting the duties of leadership.
"This is bad. Again." He whispers to Flat-top.
Brahmah is ready for anything. (Spot 29, 31 if target is human, 33 if centaur)
Gecktar Thursday October 19th, 2006 11:30:13 AM
Gecktar waits for the reaction of the sailor after the inquiries of Zeoll. He knows him sufficiently to know that he is the best talker of the party, and the one having the more power of suggestion.
Brahmah Thursday October 19th, 2006 1:10:33 PM
Grusome images of dismembered sailors spin in the ranger's mind.
Toros Thursday October 19th, 2006 9:47:17 PM
In the boat, Toros lets Zeoll do the fascinating charming and talking, and quickly has a look at inside the boat.
OOC: Well come Dane! I would say please wait a little bit more, I guess at the moment we are hurrying to move on with the game so that our DMS can add your character into the story, and our DMs could be busy, but you should receive some feedback soon. In the meantime hope you enjoy the game, and look forward to role-playing together soon.
DM Bob and Carla d20+5=8 Thursday October 19th, 2006 10:57:37 PM
The party lets Zeoll take the lead in negotiations with the sailor, and the wemic tries to convince the sailors that the Chosen of Domi are the survivors, neigh, the winners of Dr. Mauroth's game. Winterglade corroborates the bard's story, while Gecktar and Toros wait with baited breath. Flat-Top confides his wild speculation to his captain, while Brahmah wonders at how easily the wemic is able to bend the truth.
The shorter of the trio addresses one of his mates, "Slick, wake the cap'n and the rest o' the crew from their siesta! 'Peers our passangers are ready." Slick scampers onto the boat and below decks. Amazingly, the two remaining sailors step aside in order to let the taurs pass, and gain access to the boat.
"Where's you wants to go?" asks the one doing most of the talking, adding, "you have the 100 gold then?"
Standing on the dock, alongside the boat, Brahmah notices a fourth sailor, barefoot, barechested, and in ragged breaches, snoozing in a coil of ropes on the deck.
Winterglade Friday October 20th, 2006 2:47:00 AM
Winterglade steps on deck with what can be described as a textbook definition of mixed feelings.
"Doesn't look any sturdier than the last one, this ship. Knowing our luck two days into the voyage we'll discover some dire barnacles invited themselves along for the ride."
Flat-top d20+6=18 Friday October 20th, 2006 8:20:22 AM
Flat-top read the Captain though, as he (Flat-top) follows Brahmah's direction of his gaze. "Ahh! Yes! I was wondering about them too?"
Brahmah Friday October 20th, 2006 10:17:00 AM
The minotaur is very wary considering the last experience with humans on this island. Is it any wonders why he dislikes them so much.
Shipwrecks, sharks, mad doctor and a scavenger hunt for taurs gear... not a nice island to visit. But they WILL return to finish it off.
As for the gold, Brahmah shrugs at Zeoll and moves onto the boat. Broke and no longer having many possessions he came to the island with, he is comforted by the fact that if he's mugged again on this trip they'll get away with nothing more than the clothes on his back. "At least the Catacomb comissions are non-transferable." He thinks.
Zeoll d20+19=36 d20+15=32 Friday October 20th, 2006 10:36:58 AM
When the captain appears, Zeoll will use his diplomacy and bluffing to get the ship underway.
Diplomacy 36 Bluff 32 woot!
Gecktar Sunday October 22nd, 2006 2:59:52 PM
Gecktar stays near Zeoll as a bodyguard, even if he knows that Zeoll has no need of his skills.
DM Bob and Carla Sunday October 22nd, 2006 11:42:11 PM
The Chosen of Domi board the small vessel one by one. Zeoll continues with his winning ways, and the three sailors are quickly joined by the fourth as they take up the gang plank, and set the boat to rights preparing for departure.
Flat-Top is the first to spot a six-foot tall, forty-something Amazon with long black hair, and a muscular, athletic frame exiting the captain's cabin. Her large white teeth, square jaw, and pale grey eyes hint at orc ancestry. A frilly shirt, open at the neck, is tucked into slim fitting pants, which are in turn tucked into polished knee boots. A long sword nearly scrapes the surface of the deck.
"In Wardd's name..." booms a rich tenor voice, as the captain scans the deck of her ship, and the six taurs standing upon it, "who be you, and what be you up to on the Scorpius?"
Zeoll Monday October 23rd, 2006 12:47:05 AM
Repost (because I want to keep those sweet sweet rolls): When the captain appears, Zeoll will use his diplomacy and bluffing to get the ship underway.
Diplomacy 36 Bluff 32 woot!
Specifically. Zeoll compliments the captain and tells her that the Chosen are the winners, that Stevens told us Chosen to board the ship here, that the Chosen were to give the agreed on payment, and that the ship is to set sail immediately.
Once the ship has left the dock, Zeoll tells the captain that the group has a map and that he would be pleased to show it to her so that she can navigate the best course. He is grateful for her speedy help and would like to offer her an extra gratuity for her efforts.
Gecktar Monday October 23rd, 2006 3:01:26 AM
Gecktar leap on the deck as the other Chosen do the same. When the seemingly captain appears, Gecktar fears a new fight until Zeoll Speaks. He knows the smooth words of the wemic and their power.
Still alert, he knows that the captain is going to ask them for their payment and prepares a purse full of gold pieces that he hand to Zeoll.
He whispers to Zeoll "Here is their toll. I think they are going to ask for it."
Winterglade Monday October 23rd, 2006 6:25:37 AM
The centaur feels uneasy from the very first moment he puts his hooves on board. "Bye bye land."
Urg, in a moment it's gonna be bye bye breakfast.
"Brawler, Brawler, why do you put Winterglade through all those trials?"
"Listen, if you don't mind Winterglade is going to go below decks and try to find a spot to lay down and suffer... Once you have it sorted out with the captain please find Winterglade and let him know how much his share in the fee is, yes? Please excuse Winterglade-"
Brahmah d20+11=12 Monday October 23rd, 2006 9:27:49 AM
The minotaur is more and more nervous the longer the taurs remain here. He continuously looks toward the Doctor's mansion. (urg, nat 1... Spot 12, 14 vs humans, 16 vs centaurs.)
Flat-top d20=7 Monday October 23rd, 2006 10:27:51 AM
"WOW! WEEE! Captain! Look at the Ship Captain! Not bad, looking at all?"
Flat-top Look toward the new and improved Ship's Captain, "At Your Service, My Lady!" then bows to her.
Cha check - 7

Game #7 The Chosen of Domi. For the Week of Oct 16,2006
Flat-top Tuesday October 24th, 2006 7:18:46 AM
Not getting an answer from Brahmah, Flat-top turn to look in Brahmah's face. There Brahmah on his face is a silly gaze. So Flat-top tries to snap The big Minotaur out of it, "Ahh! Come on Captain! The upper part of her body is beautiful! BUT She has only two feet!"
Winterglade Tuesday October 24th, 2006 7:28:51 AM
A voice in Tauric comes from below decks replying to Flat-top's remark. Winterglade has good hearing.
"Nothing a potion of Polymorph couldn't take care of, brother... if you like that shade of complexion, of course... though Winterglade's face is right now, urp, even more green..."
DM Bob & Carla Tuesday October 24th, 2006 7:53:01 AM Zeoll continues with his winning ways, but it is Gecktar's mention of payment that brings a light to the captain's eyes. "100 GP for the lot of you!" The half-orc woman gives Flat-Top a grin, showing big white teeth that give her face a distinctly horse-like look.
"Lets shove off then!" calls the captain, and leaving the ship to the five sailors, she gestures for the taurs to follow her below decks to her cabin, adding, "let have a look at your map."
Winterglade starts to fret anticipating an encounter with his god in his future, while Brahmah looks nervously towards the doctor's mansion. The leader of the Chosen can just make out a group of maybe half a dozen individuals making haste towards the dock. They are very far away though, and unlikely to catch the group, for the small vessel has been released from the dock and a gentle breeze has filled the sails so recently set out by the sailors. The distance between the dock and the boat widens.
Brahmah d20+11=22 d20+4=11 Tuesday October 24th, 2006 10:37:26 AM
Brahmah jabs Zeoll in the ribs and jerks a thumb over his shoulder toward the docks. "Can you do something about them? Make sure their voices can't be heard or something?" The ranger whispers.
He then makes to help with ship duties. The minotaur sailor asks, "Captain, mind if I borrow a spyglass for a mo'. I need to look for my bird companion." He then looks toward the docks after scanning the sky quickly. (Who can he see?)
(Spot 22, Pro. sailor 11)
Zeoll Tuesday October 24th, 2006 2:29:39 PM
The liontaur apologizes to Brahmah in Tauric. "Not much I can do, except maybe distrract the captain as we get underrway."
Zeoll thanks Gecktar for the gold and smiles as it is given over to the captain.
He asks the captain if there is a private place, out of the direct light of day, in which to look at the magic map.
Zeoll asks Brahmah and whoever is carrying the map to come with him and the captain. Probably no other Taur's could fit in the small cabin.
Inside, Zeoll talks with the Captain, showing her the map. He also looks to see if the Doctor's Isle is on the map, and where it is ... in the Shipwreck Shoals, was his guess?
He points out to the Captain where it is the group needs to go.
Toros Tuesday October 24th, 2006 7:32:04 PM
Toros keeps himself busy, thinking the recent events in the island and the new promises or problems that leaving this island would bring. He stands on the deck comfortably, looking at the island disappearing from his view.
It has been all too much with that troubled island and now he is glad it is over, no matter what comes next...
Gecktar Wednesday October 25th, 2006 3:52:17 AM
Gecktar stays near Toros "We nearly fall on this beach... I'm happy we escaped the grip of these creatures, but I fear for Rock... I just hope he doesn't suffer..."
Well, now we must think about our mission as Vargas has gained much time... I hope the captain will be able to lead us where we need.
Flat-top Wednesday October 25th, 2006 8:05:32 AM
Flat-top feels the safty of a rolling deck again, but cannot help speaking to Brahmah, "Captain! leave this Island to it's self for now! Look to see if you can see another ship at see, with Roc on it! We had a rough time here, But when we reach our Ilands! We're in for a fight of our lives! Let's prepare for those enermy, they will not sport with us, they will tourture us before killing us!"
Winterglade d20+1=18 Wednesday October 25th, 2006 8:30:52 AM
A clear (if tired) voice comes from down below, possibly loud enough to drown out the shouts of the men ashore [Perform 18].
"Come cheer up, my lads! 'tis to glory we steer, To add something more to this wonderful year; To honour we call you, not press you like slaves, For who are so free as the sons of the waves?"
"Heart of oak are our ships, heart of oak are our men; We always are ready, steady, Taurs, steady! We'll fight and we'll conquer again and again!"
Brahmah Wednesday October 25th, 2006 12:10:46 PM
He nods as he follows Zeoll, then hearing Winterglade, he grins and winks at him with a impressed nod. (I believe Brahmah had the map)
The minotaur motions to Flat-top to follow to the quarters and stand outside.
"Toros, Gecktar, help on the ship, find out what you can about it." He suggests to the taurs.
[waiting on spyglass results]
Brahmah Wednesday October 25th, 2006 12:15:51 PM
Oh crap! Did the map get stolen! Was it on BRAHMAH!! $#!+!!!! Doh! Brain fart! URG!!! It would have been in the scroll case. If that WAS the case, Brahmah would have pursued the archer thief dude! Ack.
However, if Brahmah had it, I did not have it on my PC sheet.
I'm Sooo sorry if thats the case folks.
Note to self: Brahmah no longer to carry important documentation.
