Trellus Tuesday January 16th, 2007 10:00:53 AM
Trellus' response to Flea is a nod and a weary sigh. "We're sure gonna try," he tells her.
That evening, the cleric puts on the Pendant of Order.
In the morning, Rayla delivers the most welcome news the blond man has heard in a long time. "Totally shady!" he cries happily, helping himself to some of the offered food. He thanks Rayla for her help, and the other villagers for the breakfast, and starts packing.
"Dudes," he says with a grin. "Let's weave."
Trellus heads for this boat, eager to get on before something ELSE happens.

Murdock Tuesday January 16th, 2007 4:03:01 PM
As the day closes, everyone seems to be excited about the possibility of returning to Rattledam, except Murdock. The drow has found people he is has grown familiar with and finds now that he actually cares for. He does not want to part ways with his new friends when he at last arrives back in Rattledam.
That next morning, as the breakfast plates are brought in, Murdock is openly growchy and agitated, having spent most of the night brooding about his impending seperation from the bloodpack.
Will they want me to continue with them..... the question hangs over his head, like an axe, ready to fall.
Gilan and Ciaran Tuesday January 16th, 2007 11:06:04 PM
Gilan seems rather aggitated this morning, though it is not obvious why. As he sets off to the side to do his morning prayers to Mother Wold you get the impression that he maybe a little worried about thier return home. He eats only sparingly of the food brought in and does not converse much, though he does glare at Jake when he gets close.
Ciaran is aware of his brother's actions but cannot understand them. He can sense the change in everyone else that seems to be a feeling of relief and happiness over something...only two seem to be unhappy or maybe a little worried.
The voyage over grass. (DM Jim) Wednesday January 17th, 2007 12:14:45 AM
With a last bit of fanfare from the villagers of IronHome, the Bloodpack board the ship that is going to take them home.
A female Captain meets you at the gangplank and takes in each of you with a nod of her head. "I have heard of the Bloodpack before...just never got the chance to meet you." Her free hand, that is not holding a line, sweeps the ship with a widening smile. "My ship is at your service and we happen to be going to Rattledam next anyways." With the arrival and boarding of the last memeber of the pack she sets the ship on the right coarse by a wave to her second.
As she strolls easily across the deck of the slightly rocking ship she indicates a door that leads down into the lower parts of the ship. "I have a large room, usually for cargo...but open for your use while you are onboard my ship." With that she moves to the front rail and leans slightly on it to watch the sea of grass before her.
Jake Wednesday January 17th, 2007 4:46:22 AM
Jake easily crosses the gangplank, eyeing the grass underneath somewhat interestedly. The handsome warrior turns, and waves to the villagers, happily cheering at a few of the kids and prettier girls. Until they get out of view of the city, he leans on the railing looking at the strange town they have just left, wondering what will become of it. A disconcerting thought arises, that they are, technically, the Enemy. Even those little kids will someday grow up and be forced into the Baron's armies... It's a troubling thought, and the usually lighthearted half-elf easily diverts himself from it by wandering the ship. Something about being on a grassboat... Jake always had a dream about that, wandering the plains, being maybe a pirate or a raider. A romantic version of that sort of life, anyways, with only fun Baron-bashing, and pretty women begging him to steal them away from their homes... Anyways as he balances about on the balls of his feet, the lecherous rogue can't help but take a gander about the ship for anybody interesting. Particularly of the feminine variety. The Captain herself might be worth a look or two, though that sort of confidence in a woman can be resistant to the suave maneuvers of Rattledam's most notorious womanizer. (Well, the most current one anyways...Jake HAD to have had a mentor when he was a kid.)
Murdock Wednesday January 17th, 2007 10:47:06 AM
Murdock crosses the gang blank and with a smile and a nod of thanks to the captain. His mood is still sour, but he is making an effort to stop brooding.
If Murdock gets a chance, he brings up the subject that evening with the members of the Bloodpack while they are settling down in the large cargo hold, "I am greatly pleased to be travelling back to Rattledam, but I wouldn't mind traveling with you for awhile after we get back to Rattledam."
Trellus Wednesday January 17th, 2007 1:15:02 PM
Trellus happily bounds aboard the ship. They have made friends here, surely that will help the cause against the Barons in the future.
Plus, they're going home! Totally shady!
Except for Murdock and Gilan. The erstwhile pack leader leans on the rail of the ship, idly fiddling with the pendant around his neck, and ponders why. Gilan especially. When he spots the druid, Trellus ambles over.
"Why so sunbaked, dude?" he asks his longtime friend.
Later on, Murdock makes his request. So that's it, Trellus thinks. The blond man grins widely. "As long as you don't mind hanging out with a bunch of outcasts...oh, and getting ordered about by a blond haired human." He winks at Jake. "I do that, sometimes."
Gilan and Ciaran Wednesday January 17th, 2007 11:27:38 PM
Gilan slips onto the ship with just the smallest hint of reluctance. He moves to the back of the ship and finds a nice spot that is fairly open and avoided by the crew.
He digs through his pack and comes out with the stuff that he uses to prepare his potions when away from home. Actually he has a mixture of different herbs on a low fire when Trel approaches him. Looking up he frowns and then stirs the mixture slowly. "I am worried about returning home...we have been gone now for several months or at least it seems that long, maybe longer." Setting the spoon to the side he looks to Trel and gives a half-hearted smile. "I fear what I may find when I return." He reaches over and absently scratches the head of his brother and then shakes his head as well.
Unable to leave the beginnings of a potion unattended he is not present for the problem that Murdock is having, but if approached on the deck he may have a few things to say.
Flea Wednesday January 17th, 2007 11:51:42 PM
The gnome bounds happily up the gang plank. Though not particularly excited about the mode of transportation, she is excited to be going 'home'.
Remembering that they had barely arrived in the city when they had to quit it, the rogue also remembers that the city was dealing with some sort of upheaval or attack...
Flea replaces Trellus, next to Gillan, catching his last words. "You figger our house is okay, Gillan? You figger the little hut is still there?" It suddenly dawns on the gnome that they might not have a place to stay, once they get back. "What'cher figger we should do when we get back? Just settle in or go see the council?" The gnome shivers a little, remembering the pack's last encounter with the haughty monk, Galafar.
Return. (DM Jim) Thursday January 18th, 2007 1:05:31 AM
Speculation runs the gambit through the pack, no matter if they bring it up or not. The boat sails on towards their home with it's small compliment of ten sailors.
Jake finds that his advances get him nowhere with any of the females upon the ship. One replies with a dagger that comes close to neatly cutting off some parts that he would rather have. A more burly female offers to pitch him overboard to see how he fares in the grass without help. The Captain keeps a tight reign upon her four girls and just shakes her head at Jake's attempts.
It has been four days of sailing and you have not seen much in the way of anything upon the grasses. Once you spotted three walkers making their way through the grass upon their stilts. There were also the eerie sounds of rapke hunting something in the dark of the night, twice.
It is the fifth day, with the sun almost reaching the high point in the sky, that you notice the unmistakable dome in the distance. The Captain has a spyglass to her eye when she nods her head to the call from the nest. She cannot suppress a smile as she states a single word. "Rattledam."
An hour later and the dome is much larger and you can make many things out. People are running around on the docks near the grass and the dome seems to be repaired...looking as though nothing had happened. The Captain moves to stand near Trellus. "Happy to be home?" She gives a whistle and four of the crew start to get the cargo ready for offloading.
[For those that do the math in their heads...the Bloodpack as been gone for going on fourteen months now.]
Trellus Thursday January 18th, 2007 9:37:08 AM
Trellus nods in understanding of Gilan's plight, and claps the druid reassuringly on the shoulder. But he knows better than to make promises both of them know he can't make.
"Its not the house," he explains later to Flea - out of earshot of Gilan - "Its the girl."
"As for once we get back, we gotta see the council. They gotta know what's going on out there." He smiles at Flea, guessing the reason for the look on her face. "Don't get twisted about Galafar," he assures her confidently. "He yells a lot, but he's pretty much just the beater keeping order. And we're all beyond getting in pack fights by the Rattledam."
The cleric spots Jake hastily backing away from yet another female crewmembmer. "Well, most of us anyway."
The dome of Rattledam appears, and Trellus' face lights with anticipation. The captain asks if he's happy to be home. "Totally," he responds.
The blond man looks on, and any thoughts of Oglian or Baron or crabs or Dark Fae or Ice Dudes or Galafar or the Council are erased. Trellus isn't thinking of that. He's thinking of Mom and Dad, wrestling with Danner, teasing Jenny, eating homemade piggie stew, and counting down the fountain at Rattledam.
I'm home
Murdock Thursday January 18th, 2007 4:02:54 PM
That evening, Murdock replies to Trellus, "Only when your orders make sense.....human!" with a smile and a wink to let Trellus know that he accepts the condition.
Later that evening, as the night settles more heavily over the ship, Murdock makes his way to the stern of the ship, and looks out over the Sargrass Plains. He see's a low fire with one of the pack leaning over a pot of smelly herbs. "Hello, Gilan, what are you brewing up there? " , the drow says, hoping to start an idle conversation.
Jake Thursday January 18th, 2007 4:43:51 PM
Jake finally gives up on his more outward attempts, as the femmes seem a bit too difficult and intractable. Instead, he passes his times with the grass sailors. Telling stories of the Bloodpack's exploits, gambling at cards (and losing a few gold, he's trying to make friends), learning what he can about sailing. Towards the end of it, he's even picked up a bit of knowledge about sailing. ((plan to reflect this by buying a rank or two of profession: sailor or whatever the appropriate skill is)) Since Trellus said he was shady, Jake also invites Murdock in to play cards. Even if the strange dark elf declines, Jake later finds some excuse to chat with the dark elf about femmes. Either way the conversation, and questions, goes somewhat like this; "So...ya wizards know magic stuff that can pick up girls easy, neh? Can you give me a charm or something to do that? Ah mean, y'know Lana, that sailor gal with the bright red hair...?" ((Jake, trying to recruit a partner in crime))
"Hey, ah remember ya vaguely back in Rattledam. But ya never joined our pack. What was that pack ye were in?" ((Open response; just be creative and describe some of what Murdock did as a kid in Rattledam))
"Hey, can you return this to Tishe and not tell her where you got it? Ah found it in my backpack this morning and realized she musta dropped it or something." ((Probably something like a wand or silly trinket Jake pickpocketed from Tishe))
Jake (illegal 2nd post) Thursday January 18th, 2007 6:22:36 PM
((just read my post and realized... I never even responded to getting to Rattledam :P))
Jake sees the dome off in the distance and cheers, thrusting his hat in the air. "We're home! And things look good as ever!" Jake pounds the nearest packmate on the back happily, then realizes.. "Man ah gotta shine my armor and look all heroic!" The half-elf dashes off to get some polishing stuff.
Gilan and Ciaran Thursday January 18th, 2007 7:57:01 PM
Gilan nods his head in understanding to Trell, though he has his own doubts...maybe it is something else that he cannot put a finger on. He gives Flea a hoping smile. "I suppose that it will be fine...it was off to the far side of the town." His eyes seem to be haunted by other memories as well of the loss of family before...his whole world crumbling around him.
Later that night he finds his attention brought up from his cauldron of herbs and he gives a smile. "Just working up some remedies for the group." He passes over two vials that he already has prepared and lets the drow check them out. "Healing potions made the druid way...though they still require magic...I am hoping to get two more before we arrive home." He spends the night and most of the next few days talking to Murdock, seeing what the man thinks of creating magic of his own.
The rest of the voyage passes uneventfully for Gilan as he goes about his morning routine. When the call is made that they are approaching home he starts to put away his brewing gear, cleaning what needs to be cleaned.
Moving to the rail near Trell he watches the fast approaching docks with mild interest. "Does not seem that much has changed." There does seem to be a little more activity at the docks but little else different, at least not noticeable from here.
[Remember that I will be needing updated CSs for anyone that bought stuff in the Catacombs or added new equipment to their sheets. Thanks. ~ JimW]
Flea Thursday January 18th, 2007 8:49:12 PM
Flea's eyes strain to pick out the details of Rattledam across the sea of grass. She strains to pick out the figures on the docks. "Hey, Jake!" she calls to the gangly fighter, "you figger Tishe's back home? Waiting for us?" Turning to Trellus, she continues, "you figger she's finished her stuff in Hook City and come back?"
The closer the party get to the domed city, the more anxious she grows. "Gillan, you figger they'll be glad to see us? We haven't been gone, too long, eh?" she asks the druid.
Flea remembers how there is an understanding among the people that discussing the outside world is not only discouraged, but forbidden, and, though there is no written law frobidding discussion of the outside wold, those who bring up the subject tend to be asked to leave. Flea isn't sure she wants to be asked to leave, but she isn't sure that the pack shouldn't tell...someone...about all that has befallen them...in the long year and a half since they have been gone.
