Although the attempt of talking with the enemy would probably have led to nothing, it was still worthwile... Maybe they could have got some information. It´s too late anyhow, so Dietrich lets his arrow fly: hits ac 18 (uses 1 heropoint to reroll), damage 6 (magical) The warrior lets the bow down and fastdraws the greatsword. He shouts to the comrades: "Now is the time to use your magic!!!"

Vauhwyt yells at Oni, "Hey! It's not polite to attack when others are still talking!"
Mookie reaches into his bag of tricks and pulls out a fuzzy ball. He hurls it at the figure right next to Oni. It expands into a Wolverine, which then attacks the figure. One claw may have hit: it scratches AC17 for 5 hp damage.
Meanwhile, Vauhwyt has been casting a Reduce Person spell on herself. Arcane spell failure is no problem, this time. Vauhwyt shrinks to medium size, getting quicker, if weaker, in the process. But she has trained for quickness, and the net plus is a sweet +2 AC.
It also makes her tumble attempt more likely to work. After casting her spell, the mini-liontaur tumbles around the illithid so that she is on the other side of it from the wolverine and Oni. She ends her turn on the far side of it, hopefully. [Tumble Check is a 29.] She will attack next round, hopefully with a flanking bonus.

Rose is shocked when Oni attacks, but quickly responds by tapping herself with a wand.
Piper follows her brothers lead and tosses a ball out of her bag. And just like her brother the ball turns into a wolverine which attacks as well.

Theodore is flabbergasted by Oni's sudden charge.
Not again! he thinkgs to himself.
The wizard is now quite used to rash actions by his friends. He surprise is only momentary before he jumps to action stepping just inside the door and to the side to allow others forward.
He flips the cuffs of his tunic sleeves back and points his hands towards the illithid. Focusing his concentration fully on the mind flayer, Theodore prepares to counter any magical assault the stinker might call up.
(Ready a dispel magic as a counter spell. Dispel magic check is 21.)

Oni reaches the mind flayer first, his axe taking a nice chunk out of his left shoulder. (Crit misses. Hit mind flayer for 17 damage)
Dietrich rushes forward with his weapon, shoving the table the illithid's left out of the way. Beaker's and tubes of liquids crash to the floor and shatter as the big man takes a swing at the mind flayer. The illithid seems to have more protection than just his flimsy robes because the mighty blade is deflected just before biting into flesh.
Vauwhyt orders Mookie to toss another ball of fuzz at the enemy. A wolverine appears in the little space between Dietrich and Oni and slashes at the illithid but misses.
The liontaur quickly reduces in size and tumbles towards the battle. (Next round you can get behind the illithid, flanking with Oni and still attack)
Rose has Piper throw a fuzzball as well. This one also turns into a wolverine which quickly climbs upon the other table and snaps at the extended arm of the mind flayer, bringing back a bit of skin. (Hits mind flayer for 3 damage)
Berlon quickly loads his crossbow and keeps his aim steady enough to place a bolt just under the ribs of the illithid. (Hits mind flayer for 9 damage)
Theodore readies a counterspell.
Vorelle and Olyn stay at the door and prepare themselves for combat. The three from Dirt City muscle past the pair and draw their weapons, hungry for combat.
The mind flayer's tentacles shoot out and the air shimmers as if on fire. Those in it's path feel as if their brain might explode in their heads. (Oni, Theodore, Vorelle, Olyn, and three Dirt City boys make a Will save DC 18 with Charisma instead of Wisdom as your modifier. If you fail, you are stunned for 8 rounds. Mind flayer used mind blast)

Vauhwyt takes one last step closer to the Mind Flayer and flanks it.
She lashes out with her spiked gauntlet, her armor spikes, and two paws, hitting ACs 29, 18, 9, and 12. Both paws clearly miss. Her spiked gauntlet hits for 13, including sneak attack damage. Her armor spikes, if a strike vs DC18 is a hit, do 16 damage.
The Wolverine snaps at the monster. It hits ACs 19 (for 5) and AC18 (for 6).
Mookie takes out a scroll of Cure Light Wounds and readies the reading of it, triggered if Vauhwyt is hit. Mookie's Use Magic Device check: an 11 would not do it.

Berlon allows himself a slight smile as he is finally able to hit something with his admittedly weak aim. He isn't so happy when he sees the flayer's attack.

Olyn, Sharif, Arngrim, and Leo collapse to the ground beneath the mind flayer's mental attacks. Berlon moves to stand before his fallen friends with a grim look upon his face.
Theodore staggers to his knees but rises back up with fire in his eyes.
The mind flayer lashes out at the raging Oni, connecting with two tentacles. (Hits Oni for 8 damage) The illithid attempts to grapple the centaur, but Oni jerks his head from side to side and rips free of his grip.
Full into his rage, Oni rears up and comes down with his hooves. The mind flayer throws his arm over his face and manages to avoid the centaur's cutting feet. (Not flanking at the moment) The angry Oni has more success with his axe, taking another chunk from the illithid's midsection, shearing his robes.
The mind flayer spits out a gob of thick green blood as Dietrich steps up to finish the job with a powerful blow to his spine. The force of the strike throws the bloody illithid forward against Oni's chest, where he slides slowly to the ground and is still. Green blood spills from his many wounds out across the floor, mixing with various fluids from the shattered beakers.

Vorelle was not stunned by the illithid's attack, but you wouldn't know it to watch her. The fight is over before she gathers enough of her wits to aim her bow.
She looks at the shattered remains of the illithid and the room. "I-I'm n-n-not sure that was a g-g-g-good idea," she says softly.

Oni barely winces at the attack. The feeling of his own blood only seems to fill his rage. As the snake headed creature slides off hisa body to the floor, Oni's eyes still flame. With the blood filled eyes he raises again on hind legs, coming down with both front hooves on the beast at his feet. His axe swings from above with terrible force, looking to cleave the body in two.

Although Dietrich is satisfied with his last blow, he couldn´t agree more with Vorelle.
He tries to calm the centaur down, touching his shoulder and saying: "Calm down Oni, the ¨%#$¨%$ is dead. We have to search the body for clues and there wont´t be any if you smash it under your hooves."
The warrior also takes a quick look around. spot 18, listen 20
Before the party decides what to do now, the area has to be secured and the fallen friends have to be healed.

Berlon goes through a series of emotions very quickly. First, he seems a bit surprised that the creature goes down so quickly, but then cringes a bit as he sees the equipment getting smashed. "Try not to break anything else!" he yells.
He then seems concerned about healing. He attends to Oni's wounds, healing them with a deep red glow. (CLW heals 10 hp, rerolled 1, replacing Summon I)
He then sees Vauhwyt's own spell happen...

Oni continues his attack against the fallen mind flayer, stomping and chopping, stomping and chopping the creature into bloody bits. It's quite apparent the illithid can't be brought back by conventional means. It will take some mighty magical powers to reverse his situation.
Dietrich steps up to the centaur and claps a friendly hand to his shoulder, urging Oni to calm down and take stock of the situation.
Berlon steps up quickly and heals Oni of all his wounds, leaving only dried blood behind.
Theodore checks out his fallen friends, determing that they're all alive, just unable to move for the moment. A more able hand will be needed to determine more than that.
A quick look about the room shows no other immediate threats. All of the beakers and vials that were on the two tables are shattered from the battle and leaking on the table or the floor.

Oni sees all around him in a continual rush of blood. He feels the warming touch, recognizing it as magical healing. Somewhere in his mind he recognized it, but could not react to it. The enemy down, he needed more. More more more.
Shaking with the fury of countless generations of warriors, he turns and races out of the room, looking for something to unleash the rage on. Something, anything. Each door he passes he unleashes the axe, causing each to splinter.
It had been along, very long time since he had lost control to the blood. A voice, somewhere calls his name. Soothing, suttle, calming. The tensing, and pulsing of his muscles begin to slow. Thought, real thought begins to return.
Dropping his axe to the floor, heplaces his hands on his forlegs, and shakes. As if poison leaving his body, he trembles. All four legs are shaking. Druidic mantras roam and meander in his mind, creating a calming effect. As soon as he regained strength, he would need the outdoors, the trees to comfort him.
OOC I never played a barbarian before. so if you havent noticed, Oni is a barbarian/druid. I think I might go more Barb than druid. Dont know. I think the party needs another fighter type.

Dietrich is surprised and worried about Oni´s blood-rush and hopes the centaur could listen to Vauhwyt. Assessing the situation, the warrior is pretty sure the guy they´ve just hacked into pieces had precious information. How are we going to get them now?
The knight watches Oni´s continued rage in horror, as it reminds him of his own killer instincts, held down only by discipline and control aquired over years of Battle.
"You can´t let yourself go like that! This behaviour is not fit for warriors, it suits more a wild orc or a wolf! What if we just killed the only way out of this ¨%#¨%$ place and the %$#¨%$ ghost-ship?!"
OOC: I like the barbarian enphasis. The party realy needs a little more muscle. Although druidic magic is very interesting too.

The gnome keeps a safe distance as he waits for the barbarian's rage to calm before healing him. Once that is done, he wipes his brow and turns to Vauhwyt.
"What *are* you going on about?" He gestures towards the corpse. "We're not talking about a human or an elf or even a half-orc or anything else that is capable of free will. Those..." he waves at the corpse as he hesitates, "those THINGS are evil of the highest order. They ritually practice the eating of brains."
"But," he says turning towards those fallen by the illithid's attack, "Dietrich *is* right about shooting first and asking questions later. We do that far too much."
"Although," he adds as he tries to assess the best solution to the mind blast attack, "not in this case. It matters not if it is an illithid or a goblin or a demon god. Pure evil must be destroyed."

Oni's rage continues even after the mind flayer's death. The centaur charges out of the workroom, through the hall, and back into the library where he chops up the empty bookshelves. Rose follows after the crazy centaur and finally sees Oni regain his senses after he has decimated the library, standing on top of what was once a desk.
Vauhwyt and Dietrich berate Oni for his hasty actions, disappointed that they weren't able to wring the illithid for information. Berlon retorts that mind flayers are evil creatures, and as such, should be killed on sight.
Vorelle snoops about the workroom throughout the chaos, her professionalism allowing her to ignore the unnecessary distractions. Due to the battle, it's tough for her to determine specific tracks. She does manage to salvage a few flasks and vials still intact containing strange liquids. (Three, to be exact)

The centaur stands on his last victim, the desk. As the rage leaves his body, the fatigue sets in. Almost paralyzing, almost. He moves off the desk, to sturdier ground. He spots Rose and stares it her a bit.
The emotions that run through him are mixed as usual. Since he had been trained in the druidic nature of life, his respect for such had grown. The battle rage of his ancestry still held a strand of his soul. As he stared at he halfing emotions and feelings meandered through his consciousness. Enough,
Standing straight, he addresses the halfing. "My name is Oni se Garath of the Centaur isles. With pride I have defended my families name on this day. As so go forth my story." He inclines his head to the halfing, then exists the room. Standing in the hallway alone he concentrates on the pride of his ancestors.

Vorelle sets the three containers on the one still standing, but slightly askew, worktable. Berlon hustles over to inspect them. He spends a few minutes inspecting the liquids before setting them back down.
He turns about to inform the rest of the party that two of the vials contain acid, the other alchemist's fire.
At this time, those who were unconcious come around. They're still a bit groggy, but seem to know their surroundings and can stand without assistance.
Vauhwyt takes on the disgusting job of sifting through the bones and body fluids of the mind flayer's corpse. Other than his now shredded robes, he didn't appear to have anything of value on him.
Disappointed, she steps to a window and peers out. Her eyes are instantly drawn to the captain as he stands on his ship amidst rising waves. The captain looks directly at the liontaur, eerily able to find her eyes through the sheets of rain and gloom between the two of them.
Oni moves slowly back into the hall to wait on everyone to congregate. He breathes deeply and meditates on his heritage.

After that, Dietrich accompanies Vorelle to the next door. He stays ready with the bow to cover her.

Vorelle makes another cursory search of the room before moving to the eastern door with Dietrich by her side.
Vauhwyt has a little trouble opening the window, but finally pushes it open into the stinging rain. At first, she can't see anything through the weather. A flash of lightning illuminates the scene for her and she indeed sees more windows about ten feet up the stone wall. Judging the weathered rock for hand and footholds, and taking into consideration the heavy rain sheeting down the sides, a climb up the side would be very treacherous. Taking a quick peek down, you see you are about fifteen feet up from the jagged rocks of the island. (Climb check 30)
Berlon snoops about the shattered vials and liquids but can't ascertain what the illithid might have been experimenting with. The chemicals have mixed and tainted each other.
Olyn and the three Dirt City boys appear to be fine now. They collect their fallen weapons and move into the workroom after Vorelle and Dietrich, ready to continue on.

Seeing Vauhwyt´s intention, Dietrich says:

The warrior waits for Rose to check the door for traps etc. and for Vorelle to use her skills too. He beckons Vauhwyt and Berlon to stay near with their long-range weapons.

Rose and Vorelle examine the eastern door. They both hear sounds of the storm beyond the door. It appears the door opens to the outside. Vauhwyt steps up and pushes the door open as everyone else prepares their weapons.
As expected, you are now blasted by the wind and rain coming through the portal. You see a stone bridge extends straight east for about twenty feet to a stout wooden door in a small circular tower. The bridge is about five feet wide.
You also recall that the spiral staircase you all had taken to the second floor continued upwards.

Oni is visibly happier than he has been for quite some time. It is all quite apparent he will no longer be on the front lines.
"Ah yes, you all go before the wild one, yes yes. Berlon, Theodore would you need help with those crossbows?" He almost can not get out the last words, laughing uncontrollably.

Dietrich listens to Berlon. "Friends, the suggestion of me flying around is only for the case we don´t find another way up. Otherwise, I prefer to continue our search the way we´re doing it now. However, should I really need to do it, I certainly agree with Berlon about the featherfall thing..."
When Rose already starts checking the door beneath the bridge, Dietrich calls her back. "Let´s check the stairs first and make sure there´s nothing left in this building. Then we move to the next one."
As to Oni´s remarks, Dietrich doesn´t say anything, but secretly agrees behind the steel helmet. Better let the centaur in a second line of combat, where he doesn´t get out of control and can intervene if necessary.

Vorelle susses the bridge's security out. It has sturdy stone railings and is five feet wide, enough room for slips and slides without going over the edge. While the wind is strong, it doesn't feel powerful enough to lift someone off their feet.
Rose starts to move forward but Dietrich steps forward to stop her. He suggests the party retreat to the staircase and see what's further up. Berlon and Theodore agree.
So, what's the consensus? Go out on the bridge, back to the staircase...split up and check both? Hmmm...

Rose closes the door and the party troops back to the spiral staircase. Marching up the stairs single file, Rose comes to another wooden door. Judging by the hinges, it opens away from her. There is no lock on the door.

Rose checks the door for traps. Discovering none, she turns the knob and pushes in.
The door opens out into the storm and a similar scene. Another stone bridge runs south and into the main building. Another wooden door stands opposite of your door. The bridge is about twenty feet long and five feet wide with three foot railings on either side. It appears safe to cross.
The spiral staircase continues up.

As she stands there getting completely soaked, peering at the door and frame, listening for danger, and so forth, others huddle comfortably inside, watching her.
She hurries back and shakes off the bulk of the rain before informing them of her failure to detect any danger on or beyond the door.

Let´s check the last floor of this building first. Vorelle and Vauhwyt go first, scouting. Rose just after them, checking. Then goes Oni and Berlon, for fighting power, magic support and undead destruction. Theo and Olyn follow. I and the Dirt City boys will watch this door here till you call us up."

Vauhwyt steps up with Vorelle to go scouting. She does her best to blend in with the shadows and to be quiet: Hide 21, Move 19.

Oni, unaware of Vorelle's distaste for physical contact, teases the ranger by swatting her with his tail. Vorelle immediately flattens against the wall and begins stammering and stuttering.
Further up, Rose and Vauhwyt have a pleasant back and forth before the Halfling shrugs by her to take the lead.
The stairs end just a little further up on a five foot by five foot flat with a ladder leading directly up to a trapdoor ten feet up. You can hear the storm just beyond the trapdoor. It would seem that it opens up to the outside.

The warrior stays behind with the youths, guarding the rear and waiting for the reports.

She is happy to lift Rose up. If the trap door is near a wall, then the liontaur plants her rear paws firmly on the floor, braces her forepaws high up on the wall, and lifts Rose with her hands even higher.
Then again, Vauhwyt mentions, Rose could check the ladder for traps, and if it is sound, climb it to the trap door!

rose will check the ladder as well as the door for traps. She does ask Vauhwyt for the lift because the ladder's rungs are to far apart for her. (I'm assuming the ladder is made for medium creatures)

Rose looks the ladder over for traps or unstability. She determines it's okay after a few shakes. Though the ladder is made for medium sized creatures, she shouldn't have any problems climbing it.
The halfling scurries quickly up the rungs and twists the latch that secures the door. As if getting soaked from running across the bridge wasn't enough, the deluge coming down through the now open hatch is almost enough to take her off the ladder. She manages to poke her head through the opening before ducking back in and slamming the hatch closed to keep from getting even wetter, if at all possible.
She climbs back down and reports to the group. It appears to be a circular tower top about twenty feet in diameter. Probably used to look for arriving ships.

Dietrich encourages the group back to third floor bridge. Looking back to see that everyone is ready. The powerful warrior draws his blade and marches across the bridge, an imposing figure. He takes a stance and kicks the door to splinters.
Inside, there's a small empty room, about 10' by 15'. A hallway leads south to a door. There's another door southeast from where you stand.
(OOC - Other than the two most recent unopened doors on the third floor, there is the door on the second floor east of the mindflayer's workroom, across the bridge. Also, the courtyard on the first floor led further east.)

Those standing on the bridge quickly get soaked, but stand strong with weapons ready. More is at stake here than the loss of comfort.
Rose scurries past the hulking warrior and into the small chamber. She checks both doors for danger and discovers none. She determines the way is safe and that both doors are unlocked.
Outside, the thunder peals and the lightning flashes. The rain falls harder. And...did the building just tremble?

"Not at the moment," Theodore replies to Berlon after moving in and shaking off most of the water. "That would be a pretty neat spell, though. I'll have to look into it."
The wizard moves to the side and dries his crossbow with his cloak before hitching it to his belt. Too close quarters for shooting. He brings forth his trusty staff and watches while doors are opened.

Dietrich gives the all clear and waves everyone else into the tiny room. The warrior moves down the hallway and pushes the door in to reveal a large room that you would guess is directly above the workroom you slew the mindflayer in. It's also of the same shape, but slightly bigger being 25' x 25'. Three windows look south out of the room. Two more windows to both the east and west. In the middle of the room, another spiral staircase goes up, this one very tiny (Vauhwyt and Oni will not be able to go up by conventional means). About the room, several sculptures and statuettes of a bent and blackened humanoid figure adorn the area. They appear to be effigies of Marteaus.
Rose moves to the other door, the one in the southeast of the room, and pushes inward.
The room...well, it doesn't much matter what the room looks like. It doesn't matter because of the ghostly figure standing smack dab in the middle of the room. Her back is to the halfling, but the figure turns about slowly to reveal the translucent shape of a pre-adolescent girl. Rather than the traditional dress that a girl her age would wear, she instead adorned in loose trousers and a plain tunic, clothing that a sailor might wear. Her shoulder length hair is braided tightly against her back.
"My father sent you," the ghost says, rather calmly for being stuck in such a place for hundreds of years. "Please, take me to him."
She glides towards Rose just as a huge piece of the ceiling falls in right where she had been. The floor trembles, much more violently than before. (Everyone make a balance check 10. If you fail by 4 or less, you can't move for one round. Fail by 5 or more, you fall to the ground.)
Back in the statue room, Dietrich looks around as the building begins to tremble. His attention is snapped back to the statues. He notices that the faces on each one of them have turned their hideous features towards you. A terrible hissing noise issues from them before they explode in pieces spraying across the room. The spiral stairs you were looking at just a moment before begin to bend and creak under the weight of the collapsing ceiling.
(OOC - Ladies and gentlemen! We will continue to play in rounds now. There will be a balance check 10 every round to stay on your feet. If you fail by 4 or less, you stay on your feet, but cannot move for that round. If you fail by 5 or more, you fall. Also, if you attempt to do anything that requires concentration, such as casting a spell, make a concentration check 20. Good luck!)

Vauhwyt keeps her balance easily. She hears Dietrich's order to run, and although she hears Rose, she obeys Dietrich.
"Come with me," she shouts to the girl ghost. She dashes out and down, trying to get out of the collapsing building as fast as she can.
OOC: Remember that if you have five ranks in Tumble you get a +2 synergy bonus on Balance checks.
OOC: Vauhwyt can;t run, since a run action is only in a straight line. But she does move at 40, so she gets 80 feet closer to the door with a double move. She wishes she could cast an Expeditious Retreat, but with the shaking, there's no way.

Oni, Vorelle, and Theodore stagger under the sudden surges and quakes, just keeping their balance.
Rose isn't as lucky, falling to her hands and knees while calling out to the ghost to stay where she is.
Dietrich roars for everyone to get out as he sprints back into the smaller room and waits for the others to get their balance and move out, deciding to bring up the rear.
Vauhwyt and Berlon dash back into the rain and over the bridge with Vauhwyt urging the ghost to follow. Vauhwyt, being the bigger of the pair, quickly reaches the bottom of the spiral stairs, ending in the study to find books falling from the shelves and tables dancing across the floor. Berlon gets about halfway down the staircase.
The ghost of the little girl appears to appreciate Vauhwyt's advice more than Rose's. The girl floats towards, through, and past the halfling giving Rose an icy chill before moving on and out into the rain.
The building continues to move violently throughout all the chaos. The glass in the windows shatter and the storm comes through, rain blowing straight in. Lightning flares and thunder crashes. The sky outside is nearly black, the clouds blocking out any light.
(Remember those balance checks.)

Vorelle can pick up Rose and carry her, if she has to, and she could probably manage to drag Theo out of here with a little effort. If Vauhwyt can't find her footing, though, Vorelle can't help her.

Um, Vauhwyt had no problem with balance. She is headed out at speed. Leaving her friends behind, it now occurs to her, and she feels a twinge of guilt. But she has to get the girl ghost out and discharge her oath before she can go back in for her friends.
This round: Balance 25 means that Vauhwyt continues to head for the exit at top speed, so long as the spirit follows her.
"Come on, girl ghost! This way! We'll get you to your fatherr!"

Rose manages to stand to her feet and starts heading outside. I wish I had feather fall spell I could just jump off the bridge she thinks as she moves. Piper flies over head, when she gets to the bridge she remains outside and away from the falling building.

Dietrich still manages to keep his balance (12).
Seeing Theodore is having problems, while ROse seems to have got on her feet again, the warrior runs and grapples the wizard, carrying him under his right arm.
Dietrich runs straight to the bridge and uses the "airwalk" (cast by Berlon and still active) to get out of harms way, together with Theo.
He´d have liked to take Oni too, but the barbarian centaurs is just too big to be carried away, even for Dietrich.
THe warrior shouts to his friends (noone in particular): "If you can´t make it on your own to get out, run to me and jump on me! I´ll try to hold you and put you on the floor!"

Theodore manages to push away from the wall and keep his balance this time. (Balance 19) He aims for the door, but doesn't get anywhere before he is snatched up by Dietrich.

"Just...be gentle, please," he says meakly from his positiong under the warrior's armpit. He glances down at the ground below. "And don't drop me."

(OOC - The bridge is about 15 feet above the courtyard which is treated as a yielding surface. The first ten feet fallen is 1d6 damage of nonlethal. If you make a Dc 15 Jump or Tumble check, the next 1d6 damage is nonlethalt. Otherwise, you take 1d6 nonlethal damage and 1d6 lethal damage. Yes, you still need to make balance checks on the stairs. The whole building is coming apart. Dietrich doesn't need to make balance checks.)
Vorelle gets her feet under her and moves quickly out the door, across, the bridge, and down the stairs to a stumbling Berlon. As Vorelle tries to steady the gnome, they catch a glimpse of the ghost descending the stairs before them.
Vauhwyt races through the study, down the hall, back into the kitchen, and into the dining hall where the fallen zombies and gargoyles still sprawl.
Oni stumbles and can't move from the violence of the moving structure. Rose and Dietrich race by him, the warrior snatching up the struggling Theodore.
The halfling moves over the bridge and into the staircase. Dietrich, wiry wizard under one arm, dashes out onto the bridge and floats over the side, calling for any left behind to leap onto him.
Sharif and Leo are startled but snap to it when Dietrich starts screaming for everyone to run. The dart across the bridge. They glance at the floating Dietrich but decide against it, continuing onto the staircase.
Unfortunately, Arngrim and Olyn can't handle the shaking and have enough on their hands just standing up straight, don't even think about moving.

Oni finally gets all four feet under him. Turning he glimpse the cleric Olyn. Since the cleric is between himself and the bridge, Oni focuses on grabbing him. Oni sprawls to the bridge cleric in hand and leaps to the ground. Enough of travelling in the rat maze.

Dietrich slowly "walks" towards the ground. He´ll stay at an intermediary height, frome which Theo can climb/jump down without risk, while others running out of the building may jump unto him, if needed.
"Theo, climb down from me, it should be safe now"
Once Theo is down, Dietrich will start walking back, hopefully fast enough to be able to help Arngrim.

Oni takes the initiative and darts forward to grab Olyn. He does something that would be drastic in any normal situation, but at this particular moment, quite probably saved the cleric's life.
The centaur leaps from the bridge past Dietrich and Theodore. He lands on his feet, but Olyn tumbles from his grip to the ground. (Oni, take an additional 5 HP nonlethal damage. Should've rolled 2d6 instead of 1d6.)
Due to the unexpected fall, Olyn can't move other than to regain his feet. (Olyn takes 3 HP nonlethal damage)
Vorelle, Berlon, Rose, Sharif, and Arngrim hustle down the rest of the stairs and through the study into the hall leading to the kitchen.
Dietrich floats a little lower to dump Theodore off before going back up. Theodore keeps his feet, but can't move further from the shaking of the island.
Vauhwyt turns about to look for the ghost. She sees her in the kitchen coming towards her (moving about 40' round). The liontaur moves to the entrance to the building, looking back again to see the ghost still following.
Leo gets back to his feet and runs to the bridge and leaps off to the ground. (Leo takes 8 HP nonlethal damage; jump check 17)

On9i feels the bump as he lands and releases Olyn from his grip. Grabbing the cleric once again, Oni can see he wasnt hurt by the fall. With debris still falling, and the earth shaking, onis makes his way out of the area.

Vorelle, Berlon, Rose, Sharif continue down the hall and into the kitchen where they see Theodore, Dietrich, Oni (with Olyn in tow), and Leo coming out of the door in front of them. There's no time for pleasantries as the group moves quickly into the dining hall.
Oni outdistances them by several paces while Rose and Berlon fall behind by a bit.
Back in the hallway towards the kitchen, Arngrim, has to steady himself against the wall, his heart racing as great cracks begin to form in the walls.
Everyone in the dining hall see the ghost of the little girl floating towards the building's entrance where Vauhwyt stands before darting into the storm outside.
Vauhwyt Highlight to display spoiler: {As soon as you break into the storm outside, a illuminating fork of lightning shows you that the ship is right where you left it, but tossing quite dangerously. The captain leans over the edge, shouting something at you that can't be made out over the drumming of the thunder and the rain. Looking back for a moment, you see the highest parts of the building are beginning to crumble. Whole parts of the lookout tower break off and crash into the main structure or the island below. If your friends don't get out in the next few moments, they will be little red streaks on the floor before sinking into the ocean.}

Not taking time to hush her rude familiar, Vauwhyt acts.
If Vauhwyt is within 140 feet, she will cast Message so that she can talk with the spirit despite the weather and distance. If she is within 140-180 feet, she will take a standard move and then cast the spell.
What she does next will depend on what she hears.
If the spirit is more than 180 feet away, then she will cast expeditious retreat on herself and look for her friends without entering the collapsing building.
[OOC: I have to admit, one of the reasons I had thought about mapping this place was so that in the future, after clearing it out, it might be a refuge for us to visit at need. Just as well that I never finished my map, seeing as it is all falling down anyway! LOL!]

Theodore, Vorelle, Dietrich, Leo, and Oni (with Olyn in tow) make it to the building's entrance and out into the raging storm.
Rose can only move halfway through the hall because she attempts to cast a spell. (made a concentration check for you at 13, need to hit 15. You lose the spell. The exit is still 50' away.)
Berlon (made balance check for you at 8) and Sharif stagger about in the dining hall, unable to move forward. (Exit is still 70' away.)
There is no sign of Arngrim.
Vauhwyt hesitates outside, concern for her friends still inside winning out over continuing on to the ship. She attempts to cast a spell (made a concentration check for you at 7, need to hit 15. You lose the spell.)
The ship is 80' from the building's entrance.
(Make sure you still make those balance checks, even outside. The whole island is shaking! Also, remember concentration checks if you want to cast a spell. Need to hit 15. Finally, the building is starting to collapse. Anyone inside in any rounds from now on need to make a Reflex save 15 for half damage. This round, the full damage is 2, half damage is 1. Rose, and Berlon need to make reflex throws to reduce damage. Anyone going back into the building must also make the save.)

Seeing that some are still behind, Dietrich runs back, still on the air, but isn´t able to avoid the falling rocks (reflex 13).
Even so, he runs full speed back and helps Berlon move. If needed, he´ll grab the gnome, so his friend is on the air too (and doesn´t need the balance checks).

Rose continues to move towards the entrance as Piper flies out into the storm. (Balance check is 17.) The little halfling is too agile to be hit by falling objects, twisting this way and that to avoid being hit. (Reflex 15 + evasion means no damage. Now 10' from entrance. Please remember to make these checks yourself.)

Back in the dining hall, Sharif tries to move forward and falls to his knee. He sees a chunk of ceiling coming his way, and manages to move his body to avoid the full damage. (Sharif takes 1 HP damage)
Arngrim is still unaccounted for.
The captain's daughter floats through the entrance, past the struggling heroes, and down the dock towards her fathers ship.
(Remeber balance checks! If you are in the building, (Berlon, Rose, and Dietrich) make a Reflex 15 for half damage (2 HP damage) from falling debris. Otherwise it's 4 damage.)
