(OOC - Rose, please do not read the spoiler for Vauhwyt only. Thank you.)
Vauhwyt Tuesday March 6th, 2007 2:20:22 PM
Vauwhyt is SO glad to be outside on solid ground again!
Mookie pipes up, "Well, at least one of the party will survive this disaster! Two, counting me!"
Not taking time to hush her rude familiar, Vauwhyt acts.
If Vauhwyt is within 140 feet, she will cast Message so that she can talk with the spirit despite the weather and distance. If she is within 140-180 feet, she will take a standard move and then cast the spell.
What she does next will depend on what she hears.
If the spirit is more than 180 feet away, then she will cast expeditious retreat on herself and look for her friends without entering the collapsing building.
[OOC: I have to admit, one of the reasons I had thought about mapping this place was so that in the future, after clearing it out, it might be a refuge for us to visit at need. Just as well that I never finished my map, seeing as it is all falling down anyway! LOL!]
Theodore & Macaw d20+2=19 Tuesday March 6th, 2007 9:17:04 PM

Theodore, Vorelle, Dietrich, Leo, and Oni (with Olyn in tow) make it to the building's entrance and out into the raging storm.
Rose can only move halfway through the hall because she attempts to cast a spell. (made a concentration check for you at 13, need to hit 15. You lose the spell. The exit is still 50' away.)
Berlon (made balance check for you at 8) and Sharif stagger about in the dining hall, unable to move forward. (Exit is still 70' away.)
There is no sign of Arngrim.
Vauhwyt hesitates outside, concern for her friends still inside winning out over continuing on to the ship. She attempts to cast a spell (made a concentration check for you at 7, need to hit 15. You lose the spell.)
The ship is 80' from the building's entrance.
(Make sure you still make those balance checks, even outside. The whole island is shaking! Also, remember concentration checks if you want to cast a spell. Need to hit 15. Finally, the building is starting to collapse. Anyone inside in any rounds from now on need to make a Reflex save 15 for half damage. This round, the full damage is 2, half damage is 1. Rose, and Berlon need to make reflex throws to reduce damage. Anyone going back into the building must also make the save.)
Berlon - Eagles Splendor 4r, Air Walk (Dietrich) 659r d20=2 d20=15 Tuesday March 6th, 2007 10:28:12 PM
Berlon takes a chunk of rock of the noggin for 2 damage (Reflex save 2) but at least he manages to steady himself and run as fast as he can towards the exit. (Balance check 15)
Oni 58/61hp d20-3=0 Wednesday March 7th, 2007 1:17:59 AM
Oni escapes the building with out too much damage. He turns to see Berlon and Rose still in the building. Still hanging on to Olyn, he takes a step closer to enter the building once again.
Fate tosses him a brutal blow as he loses his footing and falls down. Reflex save 3
OOC Sorry B I was gonna come and get ya
Dietrich d20+6=13 Wednesday March 7th, 2007 8:15:25 AM
Seeing that some are still behind, Dietrich runs back, still on the air, but isnīt able to avoid the falling rocks (reflex 13).
Even so, he runs full speed back and helps Berlon move. If needed, heīll grab the gnome, so his friend is on the air too (and doesnīt need the balance checks).
rose Wednesday March 7th, 2007 10:28:23 AM
rose keeps running. Piper talks to the captain "You know as soon as we saw your daughter the whole place began to collapse. Your boat wont collapse until we're home safe will it?"
Vauhwyt d20+7=8 Wednesday March 7th, 2007 4:29:56 PM
Vauhwyt falls down this round! (rolled nat 1 on the balance check) She is very glad that at least she has only clouds and rain overhead, not falling stone!
Theodore & Macaw d20+2=16 Wednesday March 7th, 2007 6:49:14 PM
"Come on, guys!" he hollers back into the collapsing building. He fidgets, wanting to go back in to help them all get out safely, but also knowing he'd just get in the way. "Please, hurry!" (Balance 16)

Berlon puts his head down and chugs towards the entrance, taking a blow from falling debris. (Berlon takes 2 HP damage. Now 30' from entrance. As long as you make your balance check and take a double move, you'll make it out next round.)
Rose continues to move towards the entrance as Piper flies out into the storm. (Balance check is 17.) The little halfling is too agile to be hit by falling objects, twisting this way and that to avoid being hit. (Reflex 15 + evasion means no damage. Now 10' from entrance. Please remember to make these checks yourself.)
Rose Highlight to display spoiler: {You feel from Piper that he can't quite get the captain's attention.}
Oni turns about with the intention of going back in for Berlon and Rose, but his legs go out from under him. The centaur has no choice but to drop Olyn, the half-elf cleric tumbles to the ground.
Dietrich has the same idea as Oni, and heroically rushes back into the collapsing building, past Rose and to help the struggling Berlon. The warrior takes damage as he hustles through the shaking structure. (Dietrich takes 2 HP damage.)
Vauhwyt staggers from the quaking of the island and stumbles to the ground.
Theodore looks back into the building, fear for his friends quickly taking hold of him.
Vorelle can't move further from her current spot, throwing her arms out wide to keep her balance. (Balance check 7)
Leo also staggers about, unable to move further.
Back in the dining hall, Sharif tries to move forward and falls to his knee. He sees a chunk of ceiling coming his way, and manages to move his body to avoid the full damage. (Sharif takes 1 HP damage)
Arngrim is still unaccounted for.
The captain's daughter floats through the entrance, past the struggling heroes, and down the dock towards her fathers ship.
(Remeber balance checks! If you are in the building, (Berlon, Rose, and Dietrich) make a Reflex 15 for half damage (2 HP damage) from falling debris. Otherwise it's 4 damage.)
Vorelle d20+4=13 Wednesday March 7th, 2007 10:36:03 PM
Vorelle regains her balance and starts forward again.

Oni d20+3=18 Thursday March 8th, 2007 3:41:41 AM
Feet flailing he finds ground to stand on.
"Olyn run to the ship!" he shouts above the roar.
Vauhwyt d20+7=10 Thursday March 8th, 2007 9:54:58 AM
Vauhwyt tries to get to her feet (balance check 10) -- and just makes it!
She high-tails it -- literally -- 40 feet toward the ship. She shouts out to the Captain -- "We got your daughterr! Now please help us!"
rose d20+5=16 d20+8=25 Thursday March 8th, 2007 10:14:10 AM
Rose continues running towards the ship as fast as her little legs will take her.
Piper flies directly in front of the captain's ship so he cant see his daughter. "The whole place is falling apart, is the same thing going to happen to your ship?!!!"

Berlon manages to get out, huffing and puffing in exhaustion but otherwise ok. (Balance Check 11 Reflex Save 17 for 4 damage)
Once he is out he will look to see if there is anyone that requires assistance.
Dietrich d20+6=24 Thursday March 8th, 2007 2:42:25 PM
Dietrich keeps floating inside the building, using his unexpected agility to avoid the falling debris (check 24, takes 1 damage.).
Heīll look out for anyone still inside and needing help to get along. If that happens, the warrior will grab the comrade in trouble and carry him out.
If everybody got out, heīll move to the exit too. The warrior realizes that Arngrim is still missing, and feels guilty, but canīt find the courage (crazyness...) to rush back all the way to look after the youth.
OOC: Iīve lost count on Dietrichīs hp. He was almost completely healed, but only almost. And now heīs taken other 3 hp of damage.
Theodore & Macaw d20+2=7 Thursday March 8th, 2007 9:17:29 PM

Vorelle trudges on towards the ship, side by side with the captain's daughter. The girl ghost never even glances at the ranger, staring straight ahead at her father staring straight back at her.
When Piper attempts to block the captain's view, he moves to the side, flickering in and out of sight too fast for the bird to follow.
Oni yells for Olyn to run for the ship and the drenched half-elf obliges, quickly catching up with Vorelle and the ghost.
Vauhwyt follows, yelling at the captain. But the ghost's attention is focused only on his daughter.
Rose makes it out of the building, again avoiding taking any damage, and hurries down the path.
Berlon is right behind her, taking a whack on the head before escaping the building. (Berlon takes 2 HP damage)
Sharif regains his balance and escapes the building, leaning heavily on the outside for a moment. (Sharif takes 2 HP damage)
Dietrich looks around, but sees no one else in danger. Arngrim still has not made an appearance. Deciding it's too dangerous to stick around, the warrior hustles back out. (Dietrich takes 2 HP damage. Unsure about your HP total, but you should be fine)
Theodore is still scrambling to keep his balance, but is relieved to see all of his friends out of the collapsing building.
(Vorelle, Olyn, Vauhwyt, and the daughter ghost are 20' from the ship. You'll be able to reach the ship and board it next round. There is a rope ladder hanging off the side. Rose is 60' from the ship. You can reach and board it in 2 rounds. Everyone else is 80' from the ship. Everyone but Berlon could boar in 2 rounds. Berlon will take 3.
Remember those balance checks. If you go back into the building, take 7 damage for a successful Reflex 15 save or 13 for an unsuccessful save.)
Oni d20+3=6 Thursday March 8th, 2007 11:33:12 PM
Oni screams out in frustration. He knows he could make the distance easily if the ground would stop shaking. It is all he can do to keep his four legs upright at the moment.
Dietrich Friday March 9th, 2007 10:52:00 AM
Dietrich makes sure Theo leaves the falling building, helping the wizard out.
Once outside, the floating warrior helps any friend that canīt keep his balance, starting with Oni.
He also shouts (desperation and anger in his voice):
"Arngrim, where the &%$&Ļ%$ are you?!"

Theodore & Macaw d20+2=6 Sunday March 11th, 2007 6:14:55 PM
"Dang it!" Theodore hollers, still unable to move. He pushes up against the wall.
Swallowing his pride, he looks to Dietrich. "Could you help me to the ship, Dietrich? I'm not sure I can make it there before the whole building comes down."

Vorelle and Leo have trouble keeping their balance. Leo tries to grab hold of the ranger to keep themselves on their feet. (Made balance check at 8)
Dietrich hollers for Arngrim, but gets no answer. He assists Oni, Theodore, Berlon, and Sharif as they struggle to keep their balance. Meanwhile, the south tower topples, taking out a huge piece of the outer wall as it slides into the sea. You hear more crashing and breaking further back in the complex.
Vauhwyt and Olyn reach the ship, Vauhwyt bounding onto the deck, Olyn taking the more conventional method by clambering up the rope ladder.
On board, the pair see the captain's daughter float up onto the ship. The captain and his daughter stand on the storm-rocked ship and watch each other.
Rose keeps chugging along and is now only 20' from the ship. (Rose will be able to board next round as long as she makes her balance check.)
(Oni, Theodore, Dietrich, and Sharif could reach and board the ship in two rounds. Berlon could reach and board in three rounds. Still no sign of Arngrim.)

Vorelle d20+4=6 Sunday March 11th, 2007 11:42:11 PM
It is all Vorelle can do to keep on her feet. She is not able to move closer to the ship this round.

DIetrich Monday March 12th, 2007 8:13:04 AM
Dietrich keeps moving on the air and helping every comrade that canīt hold his balance, making sure they move forward, grabing and carrying them if necessary.
The warrior fears the worst for Arngrim and is quite unsatisfied with the outcome of the adventure so far: two youths lost. He makes a prayer for both of them, hoping that Domi may take care of their souls.
Oni d20+3=11 d20+28=46 Monday March 12th, 2007 12:01:39 PM
Oni finally gets his balance enough to move. As he does so, he glimpses Berlon off to the side. Rushing over to him, he plucks the little man up in his arms and races to the ship. As he nears the shp he attempts to leap aboard, not using the ladder.

rose reaches the ship, but pauses for a second while others climb. she turns and counts the people "We're missing one! Vauhwyt we're missing one of the boys!" She cries as she finally notices that somebody is missing. She starts heading back asking the others where they last saw the missing boy.
Vauhwyt d100=84 d20+2=7 d20+7=23 Monday March 12th, 2007 4:11:37 PM
"Oh wowsy!" Vauhwyt is dismayed at the loss of Arngrim.
She casts Expeditious Retreat on herself (arcane failure is okay). Concentration check is a 7, but I'm hoping that on deck, she is not being shaken.
If the spell works, Vauhwyt leaps back off and heads after Rose.
Rose! I am fast and big! Let me get him! ROSE -- GO TO THE SHIP! NOW!

Leo is able to move forward and pull himself up the rope ladder hanging against the ship. He moves up beside Olyn, huffing and puffing.
Berlon and Theodore move away from the building's entrance and rush down towards the ship. Theodore outdistances the smaller gnome, coming even with the struggling Vorelle. (Theodore and Vorelle can board the ship next round if they make balance checks.)
From behind, Oni comes galloping by to snatch the gnome up into his arms and pass Vorelle and Theodore. (Oni and Berlon can board next round on successful balance checks.)
Only Dietrich and Sharif now remain at the entrance, Dietrich still floating a few inches off the ground, Sharif staggering about, unable to make any forward progress.
Rose stays on the path and hollers for Vauhwyt to find the missing Arngrim. The liontaur shouts back for Rose to board the ship (which she can do next round if she makes her balance check) and attempts to cast a spell, but fails. (Yes, you still need to make concentration checks aboard the ship.)

She leaps back to shore (Jump 41) and races 70 feet towards the entrance where Dietrich and Sharif ewmain.
Oni d20+3=5 Tuesday March 13th, 2007 10:38:36 AM
Oni slides to a halt and drops Berlon. It looks like the shaking ground has unbalanced the centaur yet again.
Dietrich Tuesday March 13th, 2007 2:58:28 PM
OOC: why are Dietrich and some others that couldnīt make their checks still at the entrance? Iīve been writing for some 3 rounds that Dietrich uses his abillity of walking on the air to carry away the guys not able to move. He didnīt just stay around watching!
Dietrich grabs Leo and runs on the air as fast as possible towards the ship. Heīll come back soon to help Olyn too. Seeing Vauhwyt coming back, Dietrich doesnīt say anything. Heīs worried too about the missing warrior, but doesnīt like to put the party at risk in a very unprobable attempt to rescue Arngrim from the already desintegrating building. But he wonīt hinder the liontaur. If that is her decision, itīs an honourable one.

Oni stumbles just before the ship, close enough to almost grab the swaying rope ladder. If you could only get your balance back.
Dietrich snatches up Sharif and moves down the path past Vauhwyt. (Dietrich and Sharif will be able to board next round.)

"Sorry Master Berlon, when I grabbed you I thought i could make the ship. I have run much longer distances in the past, and have never had troubles jumping. This island must have something to do with it."
OOC Sorry Berlon, I made my balance check when I picked you up, and had plenty of movement to make the ship. I apologize for taking control of your character.

She shouts, "Boy! Boy! Where are you!"
She dashes 70 feet forward (60 feet into the building). She dodges all the rubbles (reflex save 23 plus evasion = no damage). She looks around and listens for the boy (listen 12, spot 5).
Then if she does not see or hear the boy, she dashes 70 feet back out! If by some miracle she sees or hears him, she will dash over to him, and then do her best to drag him out.
Mookie screams, "Boss! We're gonna die!"
Dietrich Wednesday March 14th, 2007 9:23:50 AM

Vorelle tries to see through the stinging rain, looking for anything that might help those not yet on the ship. She notices plenty of rope, but all of it used as rigging or attached to some larger device. (You can surely cut some rope. It will take one round to hack through with your axe.) The chest the captain gave to your party also sits on deck.
Oni pulls his large girth up and over the side of the ship. Once on sturdy feet, he quickly apologizes to the gnome for picking him up and dropping him moments later.
Calling out to Arngrim, Vauhwyt dashes into the building, with Piper right beside. The raven moves quickly to the back of the hall and circles a now visible Arngrim. The bird calls out for the liontaur to come quickly.
Vauhwyt rushes over to Arngrim and throws one of his arms about her shoulder. She begins pushing, pulling, and sometimes dragging the young man from the building. In those few moments, she sees just how badly Arngrim is. If she can't get him out and healed soon, he's a goner. (You move up another 10' to get Arngrim and back towards the entrance. You are 10' from the entrance.)
Dietrich moves back down the path and waits outside, seeing Vauhwyt dragging the wounded Arngrim with her. She appears to be ten feet from the building's entrance.

Now the ship begins to shake violently. Wood cracks and bursts, masts snap and begin to fall. "But don't ya know I do be a pirate!! My voyage do be endin' here, don't ya know!! And you lubbers do be a'comin' with me to the bottom of this here ocean! Har har!!"

"Th-there!" she cries, pointing "A-another sh-sh-ship!"
She begins looking about for ways to reach the other craft. Trusting neither the chest nor her ability to swim, she decides her best option is to go overland--rocking and shaking notwithstanding. She begins making for shore again.

If she can run, the liontaur will run out with the boy. If not, a double move should still cover 140 feet (maybe less depending on how much the boy weighs).
"We're not dead, yet, Mookie!" she shouts in triumph. "Thanks to Wardd's own luck and the help of Our Lady!"
Then Vauhwyt sees Vorelle coming ashore and wonders what is going on.

Oni flips open the chest and looks desperately for something to use. Unfortunately, he sees only gold and gems. Almost any other time, very useful. At the moment, not so much.
Rose scampers over to slam the chest shut and heaves it over the ship, leaping down beside it.
Vorelle points towards the back of the island and calls out that there is another ship. She, Leo, Berlon, and Theodore quickly unboard and move thirty feet down the path back towards the building where another path hugs the collapsing building around its east wall. (Made balance check for Berlon 19)
Dietrich hurries into the building and puts the other arm of Arngrim about his shoulders. Between the liontaur and armored warrior, they manage to pick up the pace.
The battered youth from Dirt City smiles up at the pair through bloody teeth. "Th-thank you," he manages to croak just before a large piece of ceiling crashes down directly on his head, making a sickening snapping noise. Arngrim goes completely limp in Vauhwyt and Dietrich's arms, his head hanging at an unnatural angle.
The same piece of ceiling that hit Arngrim slides off and strikes a powerful blow to Dietrich's shoulder. (Hits Dietrich for 10 HP damage) And then they're out of the building. Relief, but for just a moment as they see Theodore and Vorelle chugging down the path, back towards them. They see Vorelle pointing behind them, north and east of the building, away from the ship. Looking that way, you see a small path hugs the collapsing building around its east wall.
Back on the ship, Oni stands with Olyn and Sharif. The latter two struggle to keep their feet as the boat tears up around them, quickly sinking into the water. You better get off, and quick!!
(Keep making those balance checks. If you take the trail running along the outside of the monastery, make a Reflex save 15 for 5 HP damage, otherwise take 9 HP damage. You could also try the water, needing a Swim check 20.)

Vorelle looks around at the ship and discovers it is much smaller than the captain's longship was. It has only a single mast and a square sail, that is taken in at the moment. It is 50' long and 15' wide with several oars for rowing a cabin and a few steps leading below. There is no crew.
Oni pulls out a wand of healing. It appears the Arngrim is in the worst shape. He is bloody, bones smashed, and deeply unconcious. If he doesn't get help soon, he's a goner.
Vauhwyt looks out over the scene, able to take a breather for a moment. The captain's ship is still sinking. It will probably take a minute or two to go completely under.
Berlon and Theodore both take heavy damage as a section of wall crumbles down about them. But they come up right on the boat, able to board. (You can board the boat this round without balance or reflex checks.)
Dietrich, Sharif, and Olyn now face the gauntlet. Looking at the path ahead strewn with rubble both natural and man-made, the task looks daunting. Rose surfaces like a tiny dolphin, spurting out onto the deck of the boat gasping for air.
Oni huddles over Arngrim and taps the warrior on his forehead. Arngrim takes a deep shuddering breath, but doesn't move further. He still looks pretty bad.
Theodore and Berlon both make it on to the boat. While Theodore sprawls out on his back, Berlon sets to work on Arngrim. The gnome lays his hands on youth, infusing him with positive energy. Healing magic abounds aboard the small boat as Oni heals Theodore and Berlon takes some of his own pain away.
Dietrich helps Olyn and Sharif into the boat before coming aboard himself. Everyone is now on the boat, which happens to be drifting freely.
Below deck, Vauhwyt looks about and discovers a large sea chart and a couple of empty chests. There is a location on the chart that looks suspiciously like Dirt City. Perhaps you could sail this ship home using this chart. (Make a survival check 15 to guide the ship to the location circled on the chart.)
Dietrich notices nothing abnormal about the boat. It looks like a regular ship. Old, but serviceable.
Back on the shore, the monastery continues to crumble, the whole third floor crashes down. It appears even the island is going into the sea. Across the way, the ghost ship continues to go under, slowly upending as it goes down.
As Theodore suggested, it might be wise to take up the oars and get a bit of distance between the sinking island and yourselves.

All Aboard! [DM SteveK] Saturday March 24th, 2007 12:27:27 AM
OOC: Hi everybody! Let's hear it for Sheggar. Yeomans work!
The team of Vorelle, Oni, Vauhwyt, Theodore, and Dietrich begin rowing at the oars and are able to move the boat further away from the sinking island. Although Olyn, Leo, Arngrim and Sharif begin to get into position to row as well, they have to wait thier turn, for there are only three oars per side on this boat.
Rose watches for any sign of others on the island, but is unable to see anyone.
Pulling hard and as coordinated as they can, the companions and the rescued young men look on as the island and long boat crumble and are pulled beneath the frothing waves. As the sun nears the horizon, geysers spray salty mist across the boat, and the heaving seas rock the wooden vessel dangerously as sweat stains backs that are straining against the oars.
Yet slowly, finally, the waters become relatively calm. The heroes can look across the water and see no trace of the mysterious island. The mystery seems solved and complete. It is time to go home. ..........................
Now that the immediate danger seems to be over, the group is able to take a better look at the boat they find themselves on. Fifty feet long and only fifteen feet wide, the boat has a blunt bow with firebox for cooking and a tiller aft for steering. The center of the boat is dominated by a low cabin with half-stairs going into the cargo hold. A single mast with a furled squarish sail surmounts the cabin. There are ropes from the gunwhales to the top of the mast, but no ropeladder or crowsnest. Aft of the cabin are three sets of oarlocks with sweeps for rowing, but appears that you must row standing up... there are no seats. There does seem to be a canvas awning that can be raised or lowered on the rear fifteen feet of the boat for shade for the steersman. Belowdeck is an open bay cargo area with the aforementioned large sea chest and two flat-topped chests. The bow, aft, and floor are blunt with few angles that indicates a shallow draft ship. The 'cabin' seen from the deck is actually a way to provide a little more headspace below. Where the 'cabin' is, the cieling is at the hieght of 8 feet. Elsewhere belowdeck, the cieling is 5 feet high.
Berlon currently has the chart. From his estimate, it will be about a two week sail to Dirt City.
While all this is knowledge easily seen by a quick look around, other thoughts may come to the heroes. Like food and water for a two week trip...
Rose Saturday March 24th, 2007 1:34:34 AM
Rose goes below deck to change into dry clothes, since she's just over 3' tall she'll choose a place where the ceiling is to low for the others for her sleeping area. She'll lay down her mattress, pillows, sheets, blankets, ect until she has a nice looking bed.
She will then go up to the top and start cooking dinner as she's really hungry. She'll make up a good size batch of bread as she isnt sure how much food the others have. After the bread is made everyone will get some with honey, unfortunatly there wont be enough dried fruit and jerky to last everyone for two weeks. "Olyn, Berlon could one of you conjure up a enough water for dinner?" Rose asks as she takes some of the water she has in her waterskins and makes tea.
ooc: rose has 10lb flour; 5lb oatmeal; over a pound of tea, 8 cups each honey and olive oil; 2lb each chocolate covered almonds, peanut brittle, sugar, and hard candy; 3lb each dried apples, jerky, dried beef sausage, crackers. Unfortunatly I havent updated the food list for the journey to the island so I'm not sure how much is left.
DM Post: Unless Rose has an oven in her pack, she's going to have to settle for flatcakes or cobbler instead of bread :) The firebox topside enables open air frying, fire roasting, or dutch oven cooking (provided you have a dutch oven). Good post for domestic activity!
rose Saturday March 24th, 2007 11:55:00 AM
rose has 2 iron pots that I've always thought were dutch ovens. If they arent she'll use prestidation on someones stuff that's metal and temp control and improvise an oven.
Theodore & Macaw Sunday March 25th, 2007 9:53:14 PM
Theodore is super glad to get off that cursed island, and even more so that everyone who went to the island made it off safely.
A few days of honest labor sounds good to Theodore. He spends the days rowing when able, letting others take the oar when he's too tired or the blisters on his hands are too much. Maybe he'll add some muscle to his skinny frame.
At night, he studies his spellbook and sleeps where he can. When Oni or any of the three Dirt City boys are free, he strikes up a conversation with them.
Vorelle Monday March 26th, 2007 9:09:16 AM
Miserable away from land, Vorelle spends a lot of time and energy rowing. The rest of the time she tries to stay out of everyone's way. She doesn't have much food with her, but what she has she contributes to the general supply. She knows that as long as the clerics can keep them supplied with drinking water, they will survive the voyage. They may get hungry, but they'll survive.
Berlon Monday March 26th, 2007 9:06:17 PM
Once he has a moment to study the chart and recognize how long it will take to get home, Berlon starts to formulate a plan.
First, he will help with any healing that still needs to be done. He will take extra care to make sure those from outside the group are fully healed and tended to.
Second, he will adjust his spells for the remainder of the trip, making sure he has a Create Food and Water spell each day. Each morning he will cast it to make sure everyone has plenty of food and water. If the group starts to run out of food, he will start to memorize a second CF&W spell.
Adrift in the Sea, or, What Happened to the Plot? [SteveK] Monday March 26th, 2007 9:33:11 PM Rose takes the opportunity to make dinner and generally chef around. Taking out a couple of pots that stack in different ways, she is able to contrapt an oven-like set up and soon has bread on the rise for an evening repast. Already having her bedding laid out, the halfling is ready for the night.
Theodore is looking forward to some good hard labor and talking with Oni and the Dirt City boys to learn more about his companions.
Vorelle is also willing to do her share of rowing, and wonders about food on the open sea.
Berlon assures everyone that he will be able to supply any and all food and water for the trip, and reaffirms his confidence in sailing by the sun.
Leo, Arngrim, and Sharif head down below to get some comfort of the confining spaces after thier harrowing adventure. They lay thier bedding close to Rose's and relax until dinner. Olyn uses the last of his magics to spontaneously heal anyone who still requires it, and then also goes below to speak in hushed tones to Arngrim.
Of course, the sun is setting now, the stars are coming out, and the ocean breezes are making it decidedly cooler tonight. Dinner is a little ways off, and there is still the large chest, two small chests, and the uncertain weather of the ocean to contend with for the two week trip to Dirt City.
Plus there doesn't seem to be a way to open the sail except by climbing a rope or the mast...
Oni Monday March 26th, 2007 11:13:30 PM
Oni decides to keep his larg frame above deck. The feel of the breeze feels good on his skin anyway. He talks with his new companions when they offer conversation. Mainly he works on rowing the boat. The sail would be nice, but he never really understood how they worked.
Vorelle Monday March 26th, 2007 11:31:29 PM
Vorelle keeps to her oar. She is not interested in the pirate's chest--doubtless it will disappear before long, much as the boat itself had. She is curious about the other chests, but more interested in spending as little time as possible at sea.
Vauhwyt and Mookie Tuesday March 27th, 2007 6:37:39 AM
[OOC: Sorry for missing a post. Baby has been sick. "No I wasn't," says Mookie. "You're not MY baby," says Cayzle.]
Vauhwyt puts her underdeveloped rowing muscles to work, pulling with the rest of her team.
Mookie perches at the front of the boat and caws out, "One-two! One-two! Lift that oar! Put some back into it!"
Vauhwyt is happy to let the loot go unlooked at until shore.
Rose Tuesday March 27th, 2007 12:49:07 PM "Why dont we put the anchor down for the night? Then in the morning I'll memorize some feather fall spells and climb up to let down the sail." Rose says as it gets dark. She makes sure her continual flame hair ribbon is in place so she can see what she is doing and then carefully ties a few extra ones around where they will provide enough light.
After eating Rose will go below decks and take a look at all the books she took.
ooc: I want a book list.
OOC back:[DM SteveK] I'm sure you do. Would serve you right if one of the books was a mindflayers version of pornography! :)
Berlon Tuesday March 27th, 2007 1:59:19 PM
"You know," Berlon says to no one in particular, "if someone were to climb or even fly up there..." He smiles broadly at Mookie. "We could probably go a lot faster. Maybe someone could even use spells to help with the wind. We should definitely have a Control Weather spell at the ready."
"And we probably shouldn't fool around with those chests while at sea. We wouldn't want anything exploding at an inopportune time. Did anyone ever open that first chest?"
OOC: I seem to recall one of the chests being opened already. Is that the case? If so, Berlon will use his 2x Identify per day (Domain spell and Pearl of Power) to id anything in the already dealt with chest.
Dietrich d20+9=22 Tuesday March 27th, 2007 2:23:58 PM
After a whole day rowing, Dietrich is dead tired and he needs some healing too (ooc I guess heīs lost some 40hp overall) He too is very glad that everything went smooth. Adding to the general organisation of the hometrip, the warrior suggests the rowing to be alternated and to have a night watch.
He also hears Roseīs and Berlonīs comment. Dietrich puts away the heavy gear and decides to climb up the mast, being far more agile than he appears to be. He binds himself to some rope and starts climbing up (climb check 22 + possible bonus for using rope)
Theodore & Macaw d20+4=12 Tuesday March 27th, 2007 6:42:37 PM
As Theodore continues to alternate between the task of rowing and sitting idly, Macaw soars along with the boat, enjoying the beautiful weather and scouting ahead. (Macaw spot 12)
In his spare time, Theodore decides to finally use his amulet received from the temple of Wardd. He focuses on attuning the amulet to his crossbow. (Amulet of Wardd received under Kup's DMacy. Any weapon attuned to the amulet of Wardd must make a 1d4 roll on every round used. 4 = +2 enchanted weapon, 3 = +1 enchanted weapon, 2 = normal weapon, 1 = -1 enchanted weapon.)
Theodore also uses the downtime to have a little fun. He thinks it particularly amusing when he makes himself invisible before his next turn at the oars. The trick might have worked had he not been giggling the whole time he was rowing unseen.
Row, Row, Row Your Boat [SteveK] Tuesday March 27th, 2007 9:35:56 PM Dietrich sensibly suggests a rowing schedule and a night watch schedule to keep the friends from exhausting themselves unduly. This is given a sage nod from the now-often quiet Olyn, and enthusiastic volunteerism from Leo, Arngrim, and Sharif. The Dirt City young men are only too happy to be able to help out for a change.
When Dietrich sucessfully climbs the rope to the mast and unfurls the sail while in full darkness (nice skill roll, there) it seems that Wardd is truly with the group. The sail doesn't seem to make the flat-bottomed boat move faster, but at least you don't have to row all day.
No one seems interested in opening the strange chests, but Berlon is right, the pirate's chest has already been opened. All you have to do is gather in the loot. Same is true with Rose's book haul, and she spends the better part of a day perusing the bindings to see what is worth reading. (OOC: Both Pirate Chest and Rose's Books will be in a separate post)
In fact, for the first eight days, the slap of gentle waves on the side and on the oars, the occasional luff in the sails, and the magically prepared food by the clerics is all the excitement available.
Then off the port bow, a fish jumps from the water. Brilliant rainbow sides, the foot long swimmer has enormous pectoral fins. At the top of its leap, the fins snap out to the sides, and it glides in the air until disappearing into a wave. With similar splushes of sound, more and more jump from the water until they are skipping all around the boat.
(Please post a night watch and rowing order)
Oni d20+12=13 d20+12=27 d20+14=24 Tuesday March 27th, 2007 11:24:56 PM
After the 8 days of travel his wounds have healed. He could have used his wand, but time heals all wounds, so they say. Oni is the largest of the group, and so he stays above deck to wupervise the rowing. He fills in whenever possible, for those whose muscles are not quite attuned to the labor.
At night time, although not always on watch, Oni is quick to rise when needed. The food the clerics provide is good and hearty. When asked he volunteers for the early morning watch, knowing most people sleep bettr during those hours.

Theodore & Macaw Wednesday March 28th, 2007 11:14:10 AM
Theodore has to sleep through the night to regain his spells, but otherwise will do his share of the work during the day.
He also creates some magical assistance by creating unseen servants to do work about the ship.
Other than the occasional joke, such as creating giant turtle illusions to swim along side them, Theodore seems not to have a problem with the monotonous daily schedule. A wizard's life is boring by default from all the studying required. He's quite used to it.
rose Wednesday March 28th, 2007 12:54:07 PM
rose will take the first or last watch at night so that she can still prepare her spells. If she can Rose will help with the rowing, she will also memorize and cast unseen servant to help with the sails and rowing.
ooc: can rose row, she is 3' tall and you said that rowers have to stand are the oars above her head?
Dietrich Wednesday March 28th, 2007 12:58:51 PM
Dietrich has his wounds healed over time and heartily enjoys the rowing, watching his powerful muscles work. The warrior also enjoys the wind, the sun and rough water, being very conscous that this will soon end in Dirt cityīs dusty sky and tunnels.
Although having a very good time, with Theoīs entertaining, the work, flying fish and good food and beer provided by the clerics, Dietrich doesnīt forget his duties.
The nightwacth should be organised in a way so as not to disturb the sleep of the casters. He organises (should the party aprove) the watch like this: first watch: Rose (has good vision; can still sleep enough after the watch) + Arngrim + Leo
second watch: Vorelle (has no nightvision, but has the skills and "doesnīt" need to sleep) + Dietrich + Sharif
third watch: Vorelle + Oni
fourth watch: Berlon + Vauhwyt (both should have slept enough by now, could start sleeping a little earlier. Berlon has nightvision, both can fight)
Despite Vorelleīs last comment, sheīd be the best fitted for spotting and listening during second and third watch. Of course sheīd sleep more during the day later.
Vauhwyt Wednesday March 28th, 2007 1:05:49 PM
The liontaur agrees with Dietrich and takes a watch with Berlon.
She works hard and hopes to be back soon.
Pirate Chest (interrum post) [SteveK] Wednesday March 28th, 2007 1:40:04 PM
With Berlon's identify spells, the trip back is easy to learn the properties of magic and pass the stuff out.
The pirate's chest is real and sturdy, if a bit ancient looking. Inside are...
arcane scroll of jump & shield, oil of darkness, potion of protection from arrows 10/magic, chime of opening (which Berlon took), 1,250 gold pieces 3 moss agates (30 gp each), 5 freshwater pearls (50 gp each) 2 lapis lazuli (20 gp each).
The three scrolls from the library are...
Divine scroll of bless weapon & hide from animals, Arcane scroll of charm person, nystul's magic aura, & tenser's floating disk, Arcane scroll of scare & summon swarm.
Most of Rose's books are written in a strange script (Read Languages are a must), and none have printing on the binding to identify them. Big, small, fat, skinny, green leather, wood-bound, various ribbons... All make it easy to identify which book is which, but Rose'll have to use magic or wits to read them. And of course, open the books, too.
Vauhwyt Wednesday March 28th, 2007 2:29:23 PM
"I say, sell everything in this chest but the chime (keep that as a party item), and split the proceeds."
Berlon Wednesday March 28th, 2007 3:28:58 PM
"I agree with the selling the chime," Berlon says as he places the chimes back in the chest, "we usually don't have any problem breaking down doors."
"But as far as the potions and scrolls go..." he tries not to drool as he looks over the goodies, especially the oil, "one can never be, TOO prepared, can one?"
Unless some unforseen outcry emerges, Berlon pockets the oil. He'll give all the others first crack at the scrolls, but if there are any that no one wants, including arcane, he'll take them as part of his take.
With that he'll get ready for his shift with Vauhwyt.
Vauhwyt Wednesday March 28th, 2007 3:32:08 PM
"LOL! Berlon totally misunderstood me! I say keep the chime and sell everything else! He says keep everything else and sell the chime!"
Vauhwyt laughs at that.
We're Gonna Need a Bigger Boat [SteveK] Wednesday March 28th, 2007 10:25:41 PM Oni with his keen senses on the lookout is the first to spot the VERY large shape in the water torpedoing after the school of flying fish. After all, to leave the comfort of thier natural environment, they must have been chased by something
To the port side, a black fin breaks the water and flying fish scatter. Ahead, coming from deep under water, another shape rockets into the sky. Two thirds the length of the keelboat you are on, the black and white animal savages a couple flying fish with efficient teeth before crashing back into the ocean with a crack that is heard for miles.
The flying fish are now trying to escape by gliding over the keelboat itself, but this proves only an occasional success. Several land on deck and begin flopping around. The hunters in the water pursue, and then the unforeseen happens.
One of the thirty-five foot fish killers misjudges its dive under the boat by only a few feet, yet it is enough to shake the whole aft end of the boat! Balance DC 12 or be thrown to the deck. Miss by 4 and be thrown overboard. Listen DC15 Highlight to display spoiler: { cracking boards can be heard belowdecks}.
Oni d20+3=16 d20+12=29 d20+12=20 Wednesday March 28th, 2007 10:56:15 PM
Oni corners Theodore when he is doing his illusion magic.
"So master Theodore, is this your specialty? Illusions i mean? I once knew awizard that said each wizard specializes in something different. As for me, i davbble in the magics of nature. I am hoping to share one with the other.
"It is an odd bunch of characters you, I mean we travel with. No short supply of bird friends. I assume many of you hail Dirt City as your home? As for me, it has been along time since i spent any real time in the city. I may need help adjusting."
On and on Oni chats about everyday things. Hoping to become friends with these people, he lowers his normal defensive stance.
When the giant fish appear, Oni feels the old feeling of dread come upon him. Yes it had been these giants that collapsed his boat so many years ago. Captivity....
The slam, crunching of wood, splinters, all bring him out of his revelry. The island must have taught him some on keeping his balasnce, because he does so easily. He finds he rocks with the boat, instead of fighting it.

Dietrich d20+2=18 d20+4=21 d20+4=10 Thursday March 29th, 2007 10:35:28 AM
1) Concerning the chest: Dietrich votes for the treasure to be divided according to the usual procedure, that is, calculate how much everybody would get if everything were selled. Then people bid for the items, maybe even putting some money or magic to compensate. From his amateur point of view, the things in the chest look very interesting and he would regret to sell them, particularly at a lost to the merchantīs guild.
2) As the whales appear, at first Dietrich is excited with the show. But then one crashes on the boat! "Ļ%#Ļ%$&Ļ%" With luck the warrior manages to keep his balance (check 18) And he too hears the cracking (listen 21). He trys to figure out what the sound means (carpentry 10)
The fighter immediately reaches for some rope and shouts: "Grab anything you can to keep yourselves on the boat! Look out for comrades going over bord!"

Berlon d20=7 d20+4=17 d20=13 Thursday March 29th, 2007 4:16:53 PM
With the sudden commotion, Berlon turns his attention from the charts to the matter at hand, trying to size up the situation. (Spot check 7, listen check 17)
When he does, it's not good. The ship rattles as if coming apart, yet he manages to maintain his footing. (Balance check 13)
He looks around frantically, and sees Rose looking for something to help her swim. He moves over to her.
"Stay close to me," he says calmly. He then casts Air Walk on himself. (Air Walk 70 minutes)

Bailing, bailing Over the Bounding Main [SteveK] d20+3=14 d20+4=23 d20+4=18 d20+4=24 Thursday March 29th, 2007 7:07:02 PM
As the black-and-white sea beast smacks into the boat, everyone manages to keep thier footing, even the Dirt City men. A large head pulls up out of the water near Berlon, and a large intelligent eye looks around. Could it? No, the creature couldn't have grinned at the gnome. But the thumb-length white teeth were impressive. And the head is gone.
The flying fish continue to flee and the two torpedo-like bodies pursue to the port side of the keelboat until lost from view.
Yet many heard the cracking of boards and the alarm is up. Rose is the first one below deck with one of her unseen servants, and she takes a look around the dim interior. There is a small leak of water from the aft section of the boat, but it is rather unusual. The water isn't spurting as if a board has cracked. Instead, it is leaking from between the floor and the aft wall more like a bathing tub was overflowing into a hall.
Very strange...
Theodore & Macaw HP 29/29 AC 12 Thursday March 29th, 2007 8:43:08 PM
Theodore is more than happy to talk to Oni, especially about magic.
"Oh, of course many wizards will pick a special school of magic to call their own." He shrugs. "I haven't really picked any particular school to specialize in, but I am fond of illusions. I think they're fun. And I always prefer not to hurt people if I don't have to."
He suddenly looks very sad. "I killed someone, once..." He trails off.
And then they are inundated with fish. Theodore ducks for cover and hollers, "What's going on?"
DM Shegger XP Awards Friday March 30th, 2007 9:04:43 AM
XP for the most recent module comes out to 3,600 for the 7 active characters (Berlon, Dietrich, Oni, Rose, Theodore, Vauhwyt, and Vorelle.)
Hero Points: 1 to Berlon for turning the tide in the gargoyle and zombie fight by turning 2 zombies. 1 to Dietrich for helping everyone out during the crumbling monastery, risking his own health. 1 to Oni for charging the mindflayer without regard to his own health. 1 to Rose for trying all the doors, risking the chance of traps. 1 to Vauhwyt for grappling the zombie and almost dieing because of it. 1 more to Vauhwyt for going back into the crumbling building to bring out Arngrim, who would have died had she not. 1 to Vorelle for scouting ahead and serving as the front man (woman) during the gargoyle and zombie onslaught.
Congrats!
Dietrich d20+4=13 Friday March 30th, 2007 9:37:49 AM
As the first shock is over, Dietrich too moves below deck to examine the situation. He takes a closer look at the woodwork (carpentry 13), examining if he could fix it and what the strange bathing tub effect might be.
If possible, the warrior uses his knowledge to guide Roseīs work with the unseen servant.
Dietrich shouts from below: "Hey Theo and Berlon, come down here please! Thereīs something strange going on, maybe itīs magic!"
Rose d20+8=15 d20+4=5 d20+4=21 d20+8=16 d20+10=19 d20+13=28 d20+10=19 Friday March 30th, 2007 11:20:20 AM
Rose will quickly cast detect magic to see if the leak is magical and try to determine what is going on.
If she cant help she'll leave the unseen servant under dietrich's control while she gathers stuff.
Berlon - Air Walk Friday March 30th, 2007 2:01:14 PM
Berlon stares slack jawed without saying anything. After staring (and hovering) for a few moments, he hears Dietrich's call and heads down below to see if he can help.
Vauhwyt Friday March 30th, 2007 11:13:03 PM
Vauhwyt pokes her head below deck to see the problem. She quickly uses all her remaining 0 and 1st level spell slots to cast several Prestidigitation spells -- maybe 5 or 6 of them in as many rounds? (I kind of lost track of spells left). She uses the Prestidigitations to bail water out of the boat while Dietrich checks out the carpentry.
She keeps a couple Alter Selfs in reserve.
Oni d20+12=20 Saturday March 31st, 2007 9:50:41 AM
Oni stays above, knowing there is nothing he can do below. He scans the horizon for any land.
Spot 20
Leaking [SteveK] Sunday April 1st, 2007 5:35:19 PM Oni and Berlon stay topside to keep the boat moving on course. The gnome thinks that with the sails, they are still 6 days out of Dirt City.
Vauhwyt helps with some bailing out of the water collecting in the bilge. It doesn't seem very much and looks like it will take a great deal of time for the water to sink the keelboat at it current rate of leakage.
Theodore jumps and in his startled state, is only able to look around and wonder why there is a flying fish flopping around on his lap.
Rose casts a Detect Magic to see what is up, and the entire boat shines as magic! Keeping the cantrip going for a couple of rounds, Rose is able to determine that the boat shows a moderate alteration magic.
Dietrich takes a closer look at the woodwork. He's not an expert, but he can identify that if this wall is part of the hull of the boat, the leak should not look like this. In fact (tap, tap, tap) the whole wall sounds like there is air on the other side, not water.
Rose Sunday April 1st, 2007 8:01:43 PM
Rose bursts out yelling "The entire boat is magic!"
ooc: um, does rose know if the boat is going to change back to what it was any time soon?
Dietrich Monday April 2nd, 2007 10:06:26 AM
Dietrich hears Roseīs exclamation and shares his analysis of the woodwork with the group. Heīs slightly tempted to take away a piece of wood and have a look behind the wall, but fears this might damage the ship and lets everything as it is.
The warrior feels uneasy with all that magic and prefers to focus at the leak. If he comes to the conclusion that thereīs no risk of the boat sinking, heīll move aside to make space for more learned comrades, going upstairs to the oars.
"WHile you analyze that, letīs keep the boat going towards Dirt City."
Vauhwyt and Mookie Monday April 2nd, 2007 10:38:48 AM
Vauhwyt lets her Prestidigitations do their thing. She casts an Alter Self so that she can take on the form of a sea elf. Mookie will be an octopus. The pair jump over the side and go take a look at the "boat" from underneath.
Theodore & Macaw Monday April 2nd, 2007 1:53:34 PM
"Ugh!" Theodore shudders as he flips the fish from his lap. He smacks his hands together in a futile attempt to get the slime from them.
With all the hubub below and Rose's revelation that the whole boat is magical, Theodore's eyes widen as he peers a little harder at the boat.
"Berlon, you wouldn't happen to have a spell to determine what exactly this boat IS, would you?"
Oni Monday April 2nd, 2007 3:06:46 PM
Oni laughs loud at Theodores antics. To the point of hysterics. But if one knew his past, they would realise his fear ofd being capsized again. Maarooned, captured. No, not pretty thoughts.
The ship is ,magic, odd indeed.

Berlon - Air Walk Monday April 2nd, 2007 8:33:56 PM
Berlon frowns at Theo's question. "I could certainly attempt a Divination tomorrow, certainly, although given the circumstances, I'm not sure how well that would work out."
"Frankly, young Theo," he adds, "I'm more concerned with the seaworthiness of the vessel. Let's see if Vauhwyt turns up anything and then go from there."
Vorelle Monday April 2nd, 2007 11:00:09 PM
Vorelle is willing to help bail if necessary, but it seems Vauhwyt has that covered. She returns to her oar.
Drip Drop, Drippity Drop [SteveK] Monday April 2nd, 2007 11:19:01 PM Rose's startled exclamation tells everyone the magical nature of the keelboat. She is able to maintain her concentration to determine that the magic is a moderate alteration, but has no idea how long the magic will last.
Dietrich is very confident that the boat will not sink anytime soon. He judges that even without any bailing at all, it would take a day or so for the boat to sink. So the warrior goes topside and helps with the oars.
Vauhwyt takes the form of a sea elf, and she and her pet octopus hop over the side. Easily swimming and keeping up with the boat, the sea elf is able to look at the rear of the boat. The aft is flat, the bottom of the boat is nearly flat, and their is one board slightly cracked on the lower starboard wall.
Theodore quickly divests himself of a flying fish (which flops back into the water with welcome relief), and repeatedly wipes his hands on his robes. Going downstairs, he looks around at the boat but can determine nothing special without any special looking (ooc: skill rolls?)
Oni gets some welcome relief from his fear of boats, but maintains his steady hand on the tiller, keeping the keelboat in the wind and towards Dirt City.
Berlon keeps his Air Walk, and Vorelle keeps to her oar. Agrim, Leo, and Sharif along with Olyn are all downstairs helping to occasionally bail and keep the bedding from getting wet.
And the boat continues sailing to Dirt City.
Vorelle d20+12=13 d20+12=31 Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 12:59:31 AM
After a stint of rowing, Vorelle takes the night watch as Dietrich suggested. He human eyes can see little in the faint light, so she just hopes she can hear anything that approaches.
[Spot 13, Listen 31]
Oni Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 9:19:26 AM
Oni struggles internally. Land, hat is all he wants.
"Theo come back up here and tell me your story. In fact to pass the time, why dont all of you tell me a little something about who you are."
Vauhwyt Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 11:18:24 AM
The sea-elf-liontaur surfaces and tells her friends what is going on. She suggests that a mending spell would be a good thing, or maybe someone has an idea for improvising a patch?
Dietrich d20+4=6 Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 12:16:53 PM
After Vauhwytīs revelation, Dietrich looks again at the damaged part of the boat. IF he can, heīll try to fix it by conventional means (carpentry 6...), although he already did this with Roseīs unseen servants.
If not, the knight suggests to have regular bailing duties distributed among the party members, so as to keep the boat running.
Finally, Dietrich suggests to keep lights out during the night, to protect the ship and the nightwatch from been seen.
Homeward Bound [SteveK] Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 7:06:14 PM
There is no fear of sinking, and so the boat and heroes move through the water with thoughts of home. A quick mending spell on the outside of the ship takes care of the slow leak, and there are no further incidents all the way to the harbor mouth of Dirt City.
(The only thing that perplexes Dietrich is the description of the leak by Vauhwyt. The liontaur said the broken board was on the starboard side of the boat, but the interior leak is clearly from the aft end...)
The sun is rising in the heavens when a green line is spotted on the horizon. By early afternoon, it is confirmed that the map and Berlon have unerringly brought the keelboat and passengers directly to the harbor entrance of Dirt City!
Making the turn around the waterbreak, the harbor is before you. The prominent bulk of the Prince's Castle still looms above the landward side of Dirt City, and six tall towers mark the strongholds of the Houses.
The keelboat is gliding up to an empty pier spot, and the harbor is moving in moderate activity. Guaging the sun, there are several hours to go before darkness.
Rose Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 7:12:28 PM
Since the boat wont sink anytime soon Rose will put back anything that she has taken, the next day she'll prepare a mend spell and try it.
Theodore & Macaw d20+16=25 d20+14=22 Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 8:16:27 PM
Theodore casts his own spell to glean what he can about the boat's properties. (Cast detect magic. Spellcraft 25, Arcane Knowledge 22)
Seeing the city come into view, Theodore is ecstatic. "I never thought I'd be so glad to see home." He smiles widely.
Berlon Tuesday April 3rd, 2007 9:31:07 PM
Berlon watches as Theo casts his magics, looking to see if there's anything he can do to help. Once that is done, he starts work on getting the ship properly docked, and suggests everyone do a last search to make sure nothing gets left behind.
Vorelle Wednesday April 4th, 2007 1:01:08 AM
Vorelle steps off the ship and onto the dock. "Ch-Ch-Champ?" she calls tentatively, without much hope. Surely the dog is long gone. Vorelle only hopes he is still alive. Somewhere.
Oni Wednesday April 4th, 2007 5:43:01 AM
Finally land ho., How his race ever got used to, or even loved the oceans is beyond Oni's comprehension. ack to his 'home'. Well the others could call this home, but it was surely not his. The word vagabond comes to mind, and he smiles.
After docking, and everything is unloaded, oni takes inventory of the items. This was a pirate city, so he was
"Well, since all of you know where we need to go with theser chestsand whatnot, I can cast a spell boosting my strength. We can load it all on my back, and go to where we need to. It is good to see your smiling faces.
Vorelle is distracted. He hears the word 'champ uttered from her lips. Ah yes, he had forgotten about the dog, so much had happened. "Vorelle i will help you find Champ. He will be around, I am sure of it."
Vauhwyt Wednesday April 4th, 2007 9:37:36 AM
Although she is glad to see Vorelle and Oni working to find the urban ranger's dog, Vauhwyt is reluctant to leave the boat.
"There's a mystery herre! A magic mystery! What if the boat disappears when we all step off? What if someone steals it?"
"Look, it is magic, right? Theo or Berlon, maybe one of you could cast Identify? Maybe it is a folding boat?"
"But the weirdest thing is that it was damaged on one side, but leaking on the otherr! Maybe that means there is an outer hull and an inner hull? If so, maybe there is a space between them. What if we look for secret spaces or doors?"
Vauhwyt takes 20 to search the inside of the boat from top to bottom, inside and out.
"A proper Bilge Rat, you are, Boss!" says Mookie.
"And you're my loyal and faithful friend!" says Vauhwyt to her familiar.
[OOC: Don't feel bad if you miss the Divine Right references, to an obscure board game from the '80s put out by TSR.]
Dietrich d20+4=24 Wednesday April 4th, 2007 3:30:31 PM
Dietrich rejoices as they meet land again. But before he leaves the boat, he agrees with Vauhwyt and helps in the search too, now that they donīt risk sinking in the middle of the sea... Dietrich takes 20 on search too, plus his carpentry knowledge.
Other then that, the knight takes a suspicious look around the pier (spot 24, nat 20), to see if anyone is spying on the party.
"I agree that we should go sell the booty, but Iīd like to secure the boat too, itīs part of the booty. And we should keep a contact to our young friends here; Dirt City wonīt have changed very much since we left and we may need every friend we can get. Also, we should take a look at our secret places and see if theyīre still secret and safe. After that, we could go together in search of Champ. Moving around alone or in small groups is not a good idea."
