Fire in the Hole (or, Rather, the Round?) - DM Donna d20=20 d20=1 Tuesday May 1st, 2007 1:22:27 AM DM OOC: all spells cast before this post are considered to be in effect; the first person to post casting a healing spell on Brahmah will have that spell effect him. Anyone after that will not lose the spell or charge, but neither will that magic effect Brahmah.
FWOOSH!!!
The moat goes UP in flames! Heat and light flare up in the room that holds Heyoo, Flat-top, Winterglade and Gecktar! The smoky fire is so intense, that Flat-top can't see out (not that it appears that he's looking at anything other than the sword), nor can Winterglade and Gecktar see in.
Heyoo--frightened out of his mind--instinctively bounds into the northeast corner of the room, huddling down with his nose in the corner, his paws over his eyes and keening for his mama!
DM OOC: yes, Winterglade's Invisibility wore off already.
Into the map room come six more Taurs:
The first is a powerfully built minotaur with close cropped white hair. He wears black clothes and his armor is also black although it appears to weep a green gangrenous slime, as do his helm and shield. He is the red oval marked "V" on the diagram.
The next is another minotaur...a dark brown minotaur with iron rings in both ears and his nose; wearing a breastplate, and carrying a shield and a bastard sword. He is "I" on the diagram.
Those two are followed into the room by a wemic--a russett-haired female wearing half-plate armor, bearing a large shield and a mace...and wearing the unholy symbol of Marteus. She is "L" on the diagram.
Next comes the first of a pair of centaur females who appear to be reversed-mirror-images of each other: one is blonde with white flanks and is wearing a black cloak, while the other is raven-haired with black flanks and wearing a white cloak. Their faces and blue eyes are otherwise identical. (Think of them as the "Betty and Veronica" of the centaur race...that is, if you know anything at all about Archie Comics. ;D) The blonde with the black cloak is "J" on the diagram; the raven-maned centaur female with the white cloak is "B" on the diagram.
Following the twin centaurs is a rather scuffy-looking male wemic with shaggy dark blonde hair and snaggled teeth wearing studded leather armor and a dark green (almost black) cloak. He practically slinks into the room. He is "T" on the diagram.
"What, by the armpit of Marteaus, is that noise???" demands the black-and-green-slime-armored minotaur. (DM OOC: made the listen check for the group; result 20.)
"Maybe it's that goody-two-hooves Brahmah..." snickers "T", "...crying for his mommy..."
"Look! Flames beyond that opening!" cries "L", gesturing with her mace at the gap between the doors. (DM OOC: this group is obviously distracted by Heyoo's keening and the flickering flames, because none of them have noticed the tapestry, the mummequin or the Chosen in the niches...yet. Their collective Spot roll was 1.)
There is a diagram showing where in the room these Taurs have moved. Next Post will be Round 1. It seems that the Chosen have the initiative.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) Tuesday May 1st, 2007 5:53:26 AM
Zeoll stays very still and quiet. The enemy are still too far away for him to affect with his magic.
The liontaur thinks to himself, "That's it, little fishies. Come closer. Closer. I have a nice worm for you."
Then Zeoll really looks at Vargas for the first time. In a flash, it all comes back to him ... the first time Zeoll saw Vargas ... moments after a Domi priest was duped into raising Zeoll from the dead ... right after Marteus had reached into Zeoll's head and corrupted him ...
Zeoll stands before the priest that called him back. The old man looks rather worried about something but is quickly ushered out of the room by a couple of Taurs. The only two left in the room is a minotaur wearing black armor and a scruffy-looking liontaur. The minotaur steps forward and extends his hand. "My master said that you would do a service for us ... one in payment for the punishment that The Chosen laid upon you." You instinctively know that he is meaning your death. You have to concur as he smiles at you, they left you in a place that you did not belong.
The young liontaur steps forward and hands the minotaur a small pouch. The minotaur smiles again as he takes it. "My name is Vargas and this is my trusted friend, Thalin." He hands you the bag and nods at your questioning look. "These will allow you to send the updates that I require about The Chosen." When you peer inside you see several little tokens inside, Quall's Feather Token Bird. There are several of them in there, at least a dozen it appears. "Just dictate the information that you send to me to the bird...whispering in it's ear is good enough and then let it go." With a wave to the liontaur beside him, he sends him outside for a few seconds. "Do be careful though ... they must not catch you."
The liontaur reappears with another Taur with him--a female centaur with blonde hair, blue eyes and a glossy white coat. She smiles at you with big attractive eyes and purrs lightly at Zoell. "Oh he is a cute one isn't he." She steps up close to Zoell, still purring. Vargas clears his throat and she jumps back a little and nods her head. Stepping back further yet she starts the gestures for a spell and then words start to pour from her lips in a strange language. To the right in the room opens a new portal that appears to lead into a mountain range. She steps close to Zoell and gives him a quick kiss on the cheek before retreating out of the room.
Vargas shakes his head and then turns to Zoell. "She is a fiesty one...but you should meet her twin sister." He bursts into laughter that seems sort of strange for this Taur. He comes off as being the kind that finds little joy in the Wold or life. "This will lead you to the area that The Chosen are currently at...be careful and remember your duty." He will watch till you step through the portal and it closes behind you.
[OOC: The above text is a highlight from the story of Zeoll's resurrection, when DM Jim brought Zeoll back into the game.]
Zeoll stares again at Vargas. The green pus is new, but no surprise for a follower of the Sick God. Zeoll remembers how he was forced to betray his friends, sending reports to Vargas. The liontaur shudders, remembering. A firm resolve comes over Zeoll, and he is glad that now at last -- after too long by far -- that this moment has arrived.

Flat-top (AC 21/ Hp 92; -1level/cursed) Tuesday May 1st, 2007 7:15:13 AM
Flat-top look around for who ever whispered to him, but no one is there?? Looking back at the Black Sword, he feel a kinship with the Sword.
"I'll proteck you, I'll never let any thing happen to you, Ever!" He puts the sword in his belt, then start to plana way out. "Hmmm! I wonder??" he ask himself.
Winterglade [AC22 HP61(61) Protective Ward, Prot. from Energy(fire):84] Tuesday May 1st, 2007 8:05:26 AM
Winterglade hears the voice of Vargas, but can't see the enemy yet. He glances at the wand of healing in his hand and wishes he had at least some of his spells left... Then the moat behind him catches fire and the centaur curses inaudibly.
What a Full Moon's Feast!
Cayzle OOC Tuesday May 1st, 2007 9:39:04 AM
We DO have Toros's illusion going, right? The one that makes an illusionary wall and hides Brahmah, Mosushi, Toros, and Zeoll from view. Toros said on April 18 that he had scrolls to use for that purpose.
TOROS, if you have not cast that illusion yet, then CAST IT NOW! CAST IT NOW!
Donna, Zeoll would have given this instruction to Toros a few rounds ago. Zeoll would never stand there is plain sight for Vargas to see with no concealment at all.
Brahmah (Helm of Languages) [AC 22+4, HPS 115/105(123), Immune to Fireball 70 mins, Pro from Acid, Shield, Bear's Endurance] Heyoo (AC 16, hps 44/45) Tuesday May 1st, 2007 11:41:28 AM
The minotaur WILLS the Chosen to hold their place. Thinking hard, Hold, HOLD!
He suddenly feels the immense fear in his friend. He send Heyoo a strong mental image of a cool breeze filled meadow, a river running through it.

Toros Tuesday May 1st, 2007 1:07:19 PM
As agreed, Toros casts the illusion, concealing Zeoll and others from výew.
(sorry for the confusion, the time for the illusion spell has come earlier than I have thought)
Mosushi (ac14, hp 32) Tuesday May 1st, 2007 9:06:25 PM
Moshushi is baffled by the sounds and light from the other room, but can't really see what's going on there. Since he can see the others, he'll try to maintain the plan as long as possible.
Flapping away with magehand, and readying that fireball.
Round 1 - DM Donna d20=12 d20=1 5d6(2+2+3+2+3)=12 Wednesday May 2nd, 2007 2:02:49 AM DM OOC: Zeoll, re-read your "recollection" of the previous encounter with Vargas & company, since I've had to re-adjust the "memory" to fit the descriptions of the present group accompanying Vargas.
"Did you hear something...?" Vargas tilts his head as he tries to orient on whatever it was he heard.
"I hear some big baby crying." I the brown minotaur says. As they speak the group advances further into the room.
"That's odd--" L the female wemic says, "--I could have sworn that I'd seen some flames or something in front of us before..."
DM OOC: Heyoo's keening is still being detected by the group's Listen skill, but the illusionary wall means they can't see past the illusion.
"Omigawds..." J the blonde centaur eyes the Webs still standing, "...I, like, am sooooo NOT into spiders!"
"What's that flapping over there???" B the brunette centaur screams, whirling to face the tapestry and pointing the wand in her hand at it. Immediately the tapestry is zapped by a lightning bolt, making it smolder and catch on fire a bit. (OOC: 12hpd from lightning.)
"Way to go, Bilia!" the liontaur T cracks, rolling his eyes.
The entire group advances even further into the room.
Winterglade [AC22 HP61(61) Protective Ward, Prot. from Energy(fire):84] Wednesday May 2nd, 2007 4:55:38 AM
Winterglade stands by, all tense. He wonders if the group will be able to recover the body of Flat-top later on.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) d20+3=14 Wednesday May 2nd, 2007 6:02:59 AM
Zeoll prays hard that Mosushi and Toros will remember their roles. The moment that there is any kind of distraction ... from the Mage Hand making the mummy or the curtain move, or from some sound created by Toros's magic, Zeoll will cast his first Charm Person ... on the fighting minotaur, marked I.
Will save vs Charm Person: DC20.
After casting the spell ... was there any sound to cover Zeoll's casting? If not, then he will have been heard. A lightning bolt will probably be coming his way any second. So if there has been no covering noise, Zeoll creeps creeps creeps as quietly as he can out of the niche and toward the door, squeezing between the real wall and the illusionary wall. (The map shows a gap, and Zeoll will use that.)
If this is necessary, because of the lack of covering noise, then Zeoll's untrained move silent check is a 14.

Flat-top look at the wall of fire, "Hmmm! If I'm going to protect you, You must help me Jump the Wall of Fire!!" With this said, Flat top starts to run in a broad circle, picking up speed to jump the moat.
"Hold It! What are you trying to do?" the voice tells him, "Kill us both?? Fool! wait untill the Flames die down!!"
Flat-top stops and tell himself, "I think I'll wait untill the Flames die down."
Toros (AC 23, hp 69/70) + Shield and Shield of Faith, Bless Wednesday May 2nd, 2007 8:57:16 AM

Brahmah (Helm of Languages) [AC 22+4, HPS 115/105(123), Immune to Fireball 70 mins, Pro from Acid, Shield, Bear's Endurance] Heyoo (AC 16, hps 44/45) Wednesday May 2nd, 2007 12:52:37 PM
Brahmah knows nothing of what is going on in the room other than feeling a since of fear and flames from Heyoo.
The Captain didn't much care for the comment made by Vargas about being a cry baby, but we would soon see who would be crying... we would soon see.
He again gives a feeling of calm to Heyoo and hopes he senses the urgency in Brahmah to remain quiet as there were BAD people about. Be quiet. Be quiet. He thinks, also able to hear the bear and knowing that the minions of Marteaus could also.

The advancing evil-doers don't hear a darn thing! DM OOC: oh, good gracious--it's ANOTHER freakin' "1". The dice seem to hate the DM this time around. Zeoll casts his spell without being heard (most likely because Heyoo's keening--which has, indeed, slacked off a bit by now, thanks to Brahmah's attempts at comforting the rather young bear--still has the conscious attention of Vargas and his group.)
Minotaur I blinks and shakes his head--and completely blows his Will Save with a mere 7 as a result. Zeoll can consider him Charmed.
Vargas finally notices the "casting" mummequin (OOC: got a 17 for his Spot)--the sight of the bizzarre thing seemingly weaving a spell unnerves the minotaur, and he strikes at the thing twice, doing enough damage so that it is hacked to pieces by the evil warrior's blade!
His sudden attack on the mummequin that nobody had noticed up to now prompts J the blonde centaur to let out a scream and then admonish:
"Vargas, just chill, okay? We keep finding stuff that just, like, creeps me out!"
Bilia, the now-named brunette centaur begins to approach the smoldering tapestry.
L continues to squint at the wall that she still can't believe didn't have a gap in it or, at least, a torch or something to explain her momentary glimpse of flames on the wall opposite the entryway to the room.
T ambles over to the west wall of the room.
"There's gotta be a secret door or something around here..." he says, "...no way royalty would have a base of operations with no back door to sneak out if the rabble got roused..." He begins to Search the wall.
Flat-top (AC 21/HP 92; -1 level / Cursed) Thursday May 3rd, 2007 6:42:12 AM
Flat-top holds the Black Sword to his chest, speaking to it as if it was a freind, "Don't worry I'll take good care of you. We'll leave this moat as soon as the flames dies down to a flicker!"
Then a though come to mind, "Hmm where do you want to go after we get out of here?"
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) Thursday May 3rd, 2007 7:16:45 AM

Toros (AC 23, hp 69/70) + Shield and Shield of Faith, Bless Thursday May 3rd, 2007 12:00:41 PM

The minion searching the walls makes Brahmah nervous, but still, he holds. (Ready to go on a sign from Zeoll)
If the 'searching T' discovers one of the niches full of Chosen, the jig is up. Brahmah will have to alter the plan. :) The Chosen are vulnerable in a niche with no room to move about. But we'll see.

Flat-top sences a sence of duty coming from the sword. So He ask the sword, "Where do you want to go? When we get on the other side of this moat?"
Flat-top paces back anf forth, looking for some thing? But he does not know What it is yet.
"Hey! I have an idea! I'll throw the mummyfide body into the fire! Maybe She'll put the fire out??"
All the time, he's holding on to the Black Sword>

Round 3 - DM Donna d20+5=13 d20=7 d20=1 d20=13 Sunday May 6th, 2007 7:34:02 PM
Flat-top still finds a friend in the sword, which continues to assure the centaur that the two of them will make an unbeatable team.
The rogue liontaur inspecting the west wall stiffens for a moment, then continues searching for the hidden door he spoke of. DM OOC: bingo! Zeoll has now Charmed two of the group, since T's Will save is only 13.
Vargas tilts his head, intently Listening for something, but Heyoo's keening--in spite of being greatly quieted--seems to be distracting him. He hears only the unseen bear and not Zeoll's casting of his spell.
Minotaur I pokes through the remains of the mummequin, looking puzzled.
"Was this supposed to die so easy?" he asks Vargas, who shrugs in answer. The blonde centaur female J comes up behind them.
"Ewwww." she says, wrinkling her nose.
The wemic cleric L approaches the Webs left behind by Mosushi's wand, her own head tilting as she makes an observation:
"These webs aren't dusty." she points out.
"So?" the blonde centaur asks.
"So...they had to have been spun recently..." the cleric replies. "But...where is the spider if this web is a recent one..?"
The brunette centaur B is poking at the tapestry, unable to find what made it move.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) d20+21=33 Sunday May 6th, 2007 11:46:44 PM
Zeoll hopes that Domi will forgive a little prayer of thanks to Wardd, god of luck, for surely he is helping the Chosen as well!
Zeoll casts his Suggestion spell on Vargas. The Will save for that is DC21. Then he steps out and moves 40 feet into the room toward the exit. He is careful to swerve around any foes so that he does not provoke AoOs.
As he moves, he speaks in his trained bard's voice:
Mighty Varrgas, it is I, Zeoll, yourr spy among the dupes of Domi! I have a message frrom ourr Lorrd Marrteaus! You must wait a moment herre with yourr casterrs! The Queen will brring the sworrd to you. You will become the grreatest Taurr in the Wold!
Then Zeoll speaks to his newly charmed friends. He points to them and calls out:
You and you! Come herre to me now! Stand by my side! By the command of Marrteaus, you must come with me on a special mission! We thrree will go forrth to prreparre the way forr Lorrd Varrgas the Grreat!
Zeoll's Bluff check to sound believable: 33.
PS to DM: The Suggestion spell says that "A very reasonable suggestion causes the save to be made with a penalty (such as -1 or -2)." I'm hoping that that might be the case here.
Zeoll prays that his friends will stay hidden until he is out of the room with the two charmees.

Round 4 - DM Donna d20+10=11 d20+8=18 Monday May 7th, 2007 2:07:11 AM
Zeoll seems to appear out of thin air, spinning a yarn about how he has managed to fool the Chosen of Domi...and how Vargas is about to be presented with the Black Blade that he has worked all this time to get.
It all seems very reasonable to the blackguard--very reasonable, indeed! DM OOC: I could almost accuse Zeoll's player of messing with the die roller on the site--Vargas has rolled a dire 1 on his Will Save.
"She is?" Vargas says, grinning with delight. "Well, well, well--this is almost as good as beating the crap out of that goody two-hooves, Brahmah!" He follows Zeoll's movement through to the middle of the room, facing the wemic.
Minotaur I and Wemic T both follow the directions of their very Charming friend, Zeoll; they flank the bard now. They face north.
"Let's go on that mission!" the minotaur agrees eagerly. "Perhaps you'll get to backstab somebody, Thalin." He directs this bit to the wemic rogue.
"Perhaps I will, Ivanius." the wemic says with a nod and a not-very-nice show of fangs. "Perhaps I will."
Of the others in the room, only L the female wemic cleric frowns thoughtfully.
"I'm not so sure about this..." she hedges, her grip on her light mace tightening. The cleric is facing the webs that have her mind still working on the puzzle of why they are here and dust-free.
"Oh, come on!" J the blonde centaur rolls her eyes. "It's what we've been planning for all this time--and, besides, Zeoll is, like, soooo cute!" She simpers at the bard as she turns to face him.
"Is there any male you don't find 'cute,' Jilia?" Bilia (the brunette centaur) asks in a rather acid voice as she, too, turns and faces Zeoll.
Winterglade [AC22 HP61(61) Protective Ward, Prot. from Energy(fire):84] Monday May 7th, 2007 4:46:02 AM
Winterglade glances at Gecktar and bites his lip. His tail wags twice.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) Monday May 7th, 2007 5:40:46 AM
Zeoll salutes Vargas. We go, my lorrd, to make things rready! When I see you next, you will be among the grreatest of all the Taurr!
Then Zeoll says to the two flanking him, Come, my frriends! We have a job to do!
Then Zeoll sets off running at 120 feet a round -- a minotaur's running pace. He leads T and I out of the room and out of the pyramid.

Readying an action. When he can't hear Zeoll anymore, and it seems a reasonable amount of time has gone by, he'll fireball near the center of the room. The map isn' to scale, but I think that would catch every foe, but miss those of us in hiding. He'd aim further if it seems too close to him.
OOC: I just left law for the glamorous world of inner city teaching, so my schedule is hectic. Trying to keep up with the game, as i have my priorities, but if I start missing, I might be looking for a sub for a few weeks. If interested, e-mail hofeizaiAThotmailDOTcom

Brahmah understands the move made by Zeoll. The ranger will, if he has a straight charge to Vargas (hopefully the Web is gone and preferrably persons have moved), attack the instant Zeoll is not heard. He will also know how far Zeoll is away when his alarm spells sound.
If charging Vargas means mowing down 'L' or taking an AoO from same, he'll happily take the hit.
Remember friends, Brahmah is to move on Vargas or the group first, THEN Fireball.

Pardon the DM (again) - DM Donna Tuesday May 8th, 2007 1:03:59 AM
I have to go look up a few things--first, to see what Flat-top's chances for Jumping a twenty-foot wide chasm full of flames whose far edge he technically can't even see because of the flames that are burning from gallons and gallons of oil in the moat. Second, to see when those Webs in the room will disappear on their own.
(said in an Arnold Schwartzeneggar voice): I'll be back..!

Winterglade licks his lips, scratches his head, and sends Gecktar a little smile. He doesn't know what will happen in the next minute either. Once the battle commences the Chosen will have to improvise.

Zeoll leads Ivanius (I) and Thalis (T) out of the room. (Zeoll, this puts you at the top of the stairs that leads to the next level up.
Right after the three of them leave, the Webs in the room suddenly disappear.
"That does it!" female wemic L snarls. "Something just isn't right about all of this!" She begins to cast a spell. Those who make a Spellcraft check versus DC17, Highlight to display spoiler: { The cleric is casting Detect Good.}
As if the Chosen's day couldn't get any worse, suddenly there is a VERY loud "ka-KLUNK" noise as Flat-top leaps the fiery moat, landing quite heavily (and loudly!) in front of the partially-open doors that Winterglade and Gecktar are behind.
Everyone in both rooms can hear the loud voices of Flat-top and...the Sword?...speak:
"Thank you Pal! We Made It!"
"Your Welcome! Stupid! You were safe on the island, at least until the flames went out! Now let's get going!"
DM OOC: due to the heat of the fire and the smoke and the very hard landing, Flat-top suffers a total of 9hp damage.
"They're lined up along the wall!!!" warns L the wemic female, clearly pointing to Toros..."There!" ...then to the area that holds Winterglade, Flat-top, and Gecktar..."There!"...and separately to where Mosushi and Brahmah are..."There and there!"
"Who wants their Chosen extra-crispy???" demands blonde centaur J, pointing her wand at the area where Winterglade, Flat-top, and Gecktar are and firing off a Fireball. Flat-top must roll a Reflex save vs DC15 to suffer only half the damage of the massive 8hpd fireball. Gecktar and Winterglade must roll a Reflex save vs DC11 to get half the damage of the 4hpd that manages to reach them.
DM OOC: All right, people--which one of you is messing with the die roller again??? Sheesh!
The brunette centaur B aims her wand in the space between Mosushi and Brahmah and lets fly another Lightning Bolt...both Brahmah and Mosushi get to make a Reflex save vs DC11 to suffer either 3hpd or 5hpd of Lightning damage.
DM OOC: I mean it--stop fooling around with the die roller! This is embarrassing!!!
Vargas is looking angry and stares intently at the wall, his lips moving as he concentrates on disbelieving the illusion of the wall...and completely makes his Will save at 28.
With an angry roar, Vargas lifts his longsword and charges Toros, striking AC31 for 16hpd.
Surprising enough, neither Thalis nor Ivanius seem to hear the lightning crackling, the fireball exploding nor even Vargas's bellow of rage.

As the Fireball explodes around Winterglade the Protective Ward on him kicks in shielding him from most of the damage [Ref save 30]. The Protection from Energy absorbs whatever heat managed to penetrate his aura.
Winterglade is surprised to see Flat-top emerge from the inferno alive. The centaur is acting very strange and Winterglade starts to suspect that the sword has taken over his mind.
No matter; the battle is joined and there is a lot to do. Winterglade pushes through the crack in the door and positions himself directly South of Gecktar, on the other side of the door, but still behind the illusionary wall [move action]. Then he gets ready to launch his only remaining useful spell [ready action: cast Enlarge on Brahmah as soon as he leaves his niche].

Stepping out of the niche, Brahmah moves to meet Vargas. He makes his way to right near the front of the doors, then charges at Vargas. (Maybe the enlarge will take place before the attack?!?!?) "Vargas, its ME you want you idiot. Can't tell one taur from another. That measly little taur won't satisfy. It ends here Little Man. It won't be so easy this time!"

Toros`s illusions are gone and the wemic has to face the reality with the imminent danger. Benefiting the distraction from Brahmah, the wemic casts his handy silence scroll. Toros hides into the shadows, moving close to the first spellcaster who seems to cast a spell.

"HEY! ROAD APPLES! See what I got..." Flat-top crows at the top of his lungs, holding the Black Sword up over his head. "...I have Him! and I'm Keeping Him and you cannot stop ME!"
Winterglade moves into position and manages to cast his Enlarge spell on the charging Brahmah. DM OOC: Brahmah, remember to post "Enlarge" as one of your spell effects in your post name now.
Brahmah, now Enlarged, strikes true (Vargas' AC is 24), but the ranger could swear that the blackguard's skin is as stone!
Zeoll speeds another 120'feet away, urging Thalis and Ivanius to follow. However, even as he does so, both of the evil taurs stop and turn towards the sounds of battle that they now hear. DM OOC: both of them made Listen checks, Thalis at 28 and Ivanius at 24.
Gecktar gets in a mighty thwack on the black-armored minotaur.
Mosushi's Fireball explodes to engulf the brunette centaur and the wemic cleric. The brunette takes the brunt of the damage (her Reflex save was only 6), while the nimble wemic manages to dodge most of the flames (her Reflex save was 20.)
Toros hears nothing, ending up next to the blonde centaur with that Fireball wand in her hand. They are encased in his Silence spell. DM OOC: don't forget to post the spell effect in Toros's post name.
Flat-top's exuberant yelling can still be heard by everyone else, though:
"Come My Friends, We will conquer the Wold! I AM INVINCIBLE, NOTHING CAN STOP ME!! HA! HA! HA!" laughs Flat-top. "We Can Make Us All Kings!"

"You've become a bloated cow." Vargas turns his attention towards the towering Brahmah and strikes out at the other minotaur. The first strike seems to be especially vicious (it's a Smite Good attack!)--it hits AC34 and does 20hpd. The second blow aimed at Brahmah hits AC27 and does 17hpd.
The blonde centaur J takes a 5-foot-step back and appears to wave a careless hand (the one without the wand) in Brahmah's direction. Immediately a coruscating ray of energy strikes the ranger! Everyone with Spellcraft skill, Highlight to display spoiler: {roll versus DC11 to recognize a Ray of Enfeeblement.}
Brahmah Highlight to display spoiler: { Jilia the centaur's Ranged Touch Attack hits AC23...you have just lost 10 points of Strength. Looks like I have my die roller back! Mwuhahahaha!}
Wemic L fixes Mosushi with a smile that is...not nice. She removes a pouch from her belt and casts a spell on it. Mosushi may make a Spellcraft check versus DC12. If you succeed, then Highlight to display spoiler: { Mosushi recognizes that L is casting Silence on the large pouch.}
The brunette centaur B is NOT happy. She points her wand at Mosushi as well, unleashing another Lightning Bolt at him! Mosushi must make a Reflex save to halve the 14hp of electrical damage tossed his way.
Thalis and Ivanius finally recognize the sounds of battle and reverse their course of action, running back towards the map room.
"Come, friend Zeoll!" Thalis urges. "It sounds like the Veiled Queen doesn't wish to give Vargas the sword!" Neither of the evil taurs actually wait for Zeoll to accompany them, however--they run back to the map room.

Winterglade heals Brahmah for 15hp.
Both Ivanius and Thalis pause and turn around.
"A test?" Thalis echoes, frowning.
"You know how Marteaus is about tests..." Ivanius reminds the roguish wemic. They both sigh begin to trudge back to meet Zeoll at the foot of the stairs.
DM OOC: both Thalis and Ivanius failed their rolls against Zeoll's Charm, with only 21 and 11 respectively.
Flat-top comes up behind Winterglade, the naked Black Blade in his hands and a decidedly crazed look in his eye...Winterglade is going to have to make a Spot check versus DC15 in order to see that he may have a problem with the piebald centaur, as healing up Brahmah is taking most of his concentration at the moment. If Glade fails, he won't realize that Flat-top is behind him with evil intentions...not without help.
Vargas is literally staggered by Gecktar's mighty blow, but manages not to pass out from the pain of such critical damage! DM OOC: Vargas made his save against losing consciousness with a roll of 28.
Brahmah snorts out gasping breaths, wondering why, by all the Magical Mazes, he's suddenly as weak as a calf...and whiffing blows at his enemy, too..?
Toros moves past Jilia, the blonde centaur, moving to stand close enough to the brunette centaur and the female wemic to engulf them in the range of his Silence spell.
Even though the wemic cleric manages to dodge the wand-fired spell, Mosushi's aim seems to be improving, because he manages to Web the brunette centaur named Bilia. However, because Toros was maneuvering right into the area, Toros must also roll a Reflex save versus DC15 or be entangled in the Web that gets the brunette spellcaster.
Vargas, having suffered massive damage at the hands (and hammer) of Toros, immediately shifts the focus of his attacks from big Brahmah to Gecktar, using another of his Smite Good attacks with his first blow and then just plain regular whacking with his second. The results: the first blow was a confirmed Crit Hit, (struck AC38 and AC28), doing 52hpd in a single blow! The second blow misses Gecktar, but Gecktar must now roll a Fortitude save against the massive damage or fall unconscious (DC 18.)
Jilia the blonde centaur points her wand at Flat-top, the wielder of the Black Blade that Vargas wants sooooooo badly, and fires off a Fireball! Both Flat-top and Winterglade must roll Reflex saves versus DC11 in order to get only half of the damage from the resulting 17hp fire damage that erupts. (Brahmah must make a Reflex save, too, with the same DC...if he fails, the fire does 9hpd, if he makes it, then only 5hpd--but then, Brahmah has that Fire Immunity spell effect going on...)
The female wemic L moves foward five feet and then lobs the pouch at Mosushi, hitting AC16! However, the bag bursts open and a gooey substance covers Mosushi--it's a tanglefoot bag, only a bit smaller than the average...obviously not meant to stick a person in place. However, Mosushi now finds that he cannot hear, thanks to the Silence cast on the pouch before the cleric tossed it. He is also suffering from reduced effects from a Tanglefoot Bag: he has -1 on his attack now and suffers -2 to his Dexterity.
Ivanius and Thalis follow Zeoll from the battle scene, convinced (thanks to the bard's quick thinking and silver tongue) that everything in the map room is just a test that the rest of their party must undergo.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) Friday May 11th, 2007 6:43:55 AM

While very wounded he handles his hammer and strikes back Varguas. He has done his duty...
Attack with power attack -4 (divine power +8, strength +3, enhanced strength +3, warhammer +1, weapon focus +1, flanking +2, power attack -4, bless +1, size -1) hit AC30 damage 22, hit AC24 damage 16
Toros(AC 23, hp 53/70), Shield of Faith (1 rounds), Bless - Silence d20=9 d20=15 d8=1 d20=5 d20=20 Friday May 11th, 2007 11:05:21 PM
Toros swiftly gets rid of the web (reflex 20 > 15), connects a swift fist on "B" (hit AC 23, damage 6), and then hides into the shadows and silence one more time (hide 19, move silently 34 + silence). The wemic positions himself to keep L and B, but not any wemic, in silence. (Silent Spell, oh well...)
Toros-correction Friday May 11th, 2007 11:11:55 PM
the wording "but not any wemic" should have been "but not any chosen".
Brahmah Saturday May 12th, 2007 1:33:02 PM
POINTS OFF VARGAS' STONESKIN, 26, BY BRAHMAH. I'm sure more has come off Vargas' Stoneskin than what Brahmah has done. :)
Mosushi (ac15, hp 22/32) silenced d20=13 d20=2 Sunday May 13th, 2007 7:52:16 PM
Mosh will assume the problem with Flat Top resolves itself, as he doesn't hear anything disturbing. Stupid silence spell.
So they want a battle of tanglefoot bags, eh? very unwise. He'll heave one at Blondie, hitting a touch attack of 18.
The description makes it seem Moshushi isn't stuck to the floor. is that correct? Can he tell what her wand is made of? Spot is 8, if he needs one(he may have some goop in his eyes)
He'd yell something insulting, except it would be wasted, as no one can hear him.
Round 9 - DM Donna d10=5 d10=8 d20+8=24 d8+4=6 d4=4 d20+2=20 Monday May 14th, 2007 5:13:07 AM
Zeoll, Ivanius and Thalis continue to move back up through the ziggurat. "What mission is it that Marteaus requires us to carry out?" Thalis asks.
Winterglade manages to heal Gecktar of 9hp.
Flat-top continues his attempts on Winterglade's life--striking the centaur from behind for 5hpd and 8hpd on each respective attack (plus whatever Flat-top's bonuses would be for melee with a bastard sword.)
Between the attacks by Brahmah (weakened though he is) and Gecktar, Vargas slumps to the ground with a bloody snort, eyes rolling into the back of his head.
Toros strikes a defenseless female, which hurts a LOT.
Mosushi gets a bright idea and gets out his tanglefoot bag, and heaves it towards the blonde centaur, who is at least 35 or so feet away. The tanglefoot bag arcs up and out...landing at the periphery of his area of Silence, since regular-sized tanglefoot bags can only travel up to ten feet away. There is now a sticky, gooey mess on the floor about ten feet away from Mosushi.
The blonde centaur female, seeing Vargas go down, frowns and moves over to behind the trapped brunette centaur.
The female wemic turns and, lifting her mace high, smacks it soundly upon Toros's head, as though she can see exactly where he is, striking AC24 for 6hpd. Toros must roll a Fort save vs DC16 or be effected by Contagion: Blinding Sickness. If he fails, he loses 4 STR points and must make two more Fort saves vs. DC16 or become permanently blind.
The brunette centaur attempts to pull free of the Web...and makes it!
Winterglade [AC22 HP48(61) Prot. from Energy(fire):74] 2d8(8+5)+3=16 Monday May 14th, 2007 5:42:40 AM
Winterglade continues healing Gecktar [CMW from wand heals Gecktar for 16 points]. He's never felt so useless in his whole life. The big fight came and caught him without his magic.
Flat-top is not helping his mood, either. The only good news is that Vargas seems to have been slain - either that or is cleverly playing possum.
Flat-top(ac21/hp92;-1 level;Cursed) d20+14=19 d20+9=21 2d8(5+6)+6=17 Monday May 14th, 2007 7:32:37 AM
Flat-top will listen and attack Winterglade again, "Yes Master"
Again he swing the Black Sword Hitting AC 19 & AC 21 - Damages First Attack Miss & Damages Second Attack with Black Sword 17 hp.
OOC: Gee! Guys Make Flat-top drop the Black Sword, then He'll snap out of the curse!! He does not want to kill his own People (Better known as Taurs!)

Gecktar (AC22 (-2 charge), HP22/66, magic vestment, divine power, shield of faith, bless) d20+10=13 Monday May 14th, 2007 10:51:24 AM
Gecktar grins when the blackguard fall on the ground. But he instantly realizes that their tactical position is more than dangerous. Once more he grips firmly his hammer and charges 'J' trying to do as much damage as he can.
Zeoll (AC 17, HP 43) d20+21=29 d20+21=22 d20+21=31 d20+7=17 d20+7=11 Monday May 14th, 2007 11:52:10 AM
Zeoll explains the mission as he leads his two new friends out.
"The Black Sworrd hates spell casterrs, and it is likely that none of the casterrs we left in that rroom will surrvive -- at least not the centaurrs. But the Sworrd will want frresh meat! MORRE frresh meat! So we betterr have some!"
Bluff check to make this sound believable: 29. They must roll a higher Sense Motive check to see through the lie.
"Ivanius, you arre a massive brrute, so you get the first job. You can eitherr BE the meat, orr FETCH the meat!" Zeoll laughs an evil laugh. "Therre's a dead giant lizarrd back the way the Dupes of Domi came. You prrobably saw it. Go hack off as much meat as you can carry, and then brring it back! Strrap it to yourr body! Tie it on with ropes! You betterr be staggerring when you get back, for all ourr lives! And run!"
"Thalis, you follow me to the top of the pyrramid!"
"I'm going to sing the hymn of opening and rreveal the Treasurre Chamberr of the Wemic Queen. Then you can climb down silently and starrt brringing out the rriches."
At the top, Zeoll says, "But I warrn you, frriend Thalis, therre's a magic trrap that will heat all the steel you arre wearring -- so hot it will melt! Even the magic! So if you want to avoid death by molten irron, you betterr take off yourr irron gearr firrst."
Bluff check on this whopper: A natural 1! Zeoll uses ANOTHER hero point to reroll: a 31.
The two CAN resist if these are things that they "wouldn't ordinarily do." They get to make Chr checks vs Zeoll's Chr checks. Zeoll's two Chr checks, if needed: 17 and 11. But I hope they won't be needed.

Brahmah (Helm of Languages) [AC(24) 22+4 shield spell -2 size, HPS 90/105(123), Immune to Fireball 70 mins, Pro from Acid, Shield, Bear's Endurance, Enlarged] Heyoo (AC 16, hps 44/45) d20+7=17 Monday May 14th, 2007 12:19:34 PM
Thrilled beyond words that his nemisis is down and out, all good sense leaving him, the combat unseen and unheard, the minotaur reaches into his pack, retrieves the manicles he bought years ago (still shiny new) and clamps on the large chains behind the Blackguard's back, making sure to break a shoulder, wrist or elbow in the process, any bone will do. (Str check 17) He doesn't care if he's dead or unconscious, the ranger is beyond himself. He removes anything of signifance off him (spell pouch, weapons, scrolls, wands, etc.)
On character sheet: -Masterwork Manacles [taur sized, amazing lock, 20ft chain w/locking link](8lbs)
He then stands, turning, to Flat-top, prepared for anything. He stands sentinel over Vargas, making sure no one can rejuvenate the Blackguard. "My friend, that sword is why this mighty taur lays defeated." He points to Vargas. "Evil or not, he was ONCE good and strong. It was Marteus and the mission for that evil sword that caused all this trouble. You have been my friend for years now, a Brother, a comrade. Do NOT make me kill you."
He hopes that by talking, trying to appeal to Flat-top's heart, that he will avoid hurting one of his own. "Winterglade and Gecktar are insignificant. If you want to rule the world with that sword, you will have to go through me friend.
Glade, Gecktar, move away from the sword. You will never be able to wield it. Make yourselves useful and help Toros! The sword is MINE!" He looks into Flat-top's eyes.

D'oh!
I'll try webbing the two centaurs again. If they're next to each other, it might work.
Still can't hear the conversation, but Mosh is getting curious as to why so few are fighting the baddies.
Toros(AC 23, hp 53/70), Bless, Silence (6 rounds) d20=20 d20=19 d20=19 Monday May 14th, 2007 7:30:54 PM
With a final hope of faith Toros dodges the blinding strike. (with shield of faith, which is expiring from now on, AC has been 25. And rolled a 20 for the Fortitude Save, in case!)
Stepping away from the full attack of his opponent, the wemic moves to keep the three enemy spellcasters in silence. He uses shadows and silence for his own defense. (hide, 33, move silently 34 + silence) (AC+6 full defense) OOC:Rolled really good dies this turn, but the curoisity of how that female wemic sees me could be killing!)
Round 10 - DM Donna d20=3 d20=12 d20+3=23 d20+3=20 5d6(6+1+5+5+4)+3=24 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 3:14:32 AM DM OOC: d'oh! Sorry about the range/range increment mix-up as well as the saving throw confusion--I thought the Contagion spell description said that you had to make one save for every 2hp STR damage taken, but that isn't what the text meant. Sigh. Blame it on me not quite reading the PHB closely enough. Read the following, then:
The blonde centaur finds herself ensnared by gooey green gunk of a tanglefoot bag tossed by Mosushi.
The insanely-obsessed Flat-top swings at Winterglade once more, inflicting 17hpd on his fellow Taur!
Gecktar charges very briskly past the blonde centaur.
Ivanius and Thalis both continue to climb out of the ziggurat. By now the trio is just about to enter the uppermost interior level. Neither of them disagree with Zeoll's instructions. (OOC: Ivanius is hopeless with 3 for his Sense Motive, and Thalis isn't much better with only 12.)
Mosushi's aim with that Web wand is less than stellar: there is a Web in front of the two lady Taurs he could see...but both ladies dodged the Web itself this time. (OOC: One rolled a natural 20 and the other one got a total of 20 as well.)
However, because Toros is still lurking about in that very area, using his Hide In Plain Sight skill, he, too, must roll his Reflex save to avoid getting stuck in the newest Web.
The blonde centaur squints, doing some quick calculations in her head, then nods and fires another Fireball, practically at Toros' feet! Her calculations seem to have paid off, for Toros, and Toros alone, is engulfed in the ensuing 24hp fireball that erupts. Toros has to roll a Reflex save versus DC11 to suffer only half damage from the fire.
Meanwhile, it's clear to see what the centaur spellcaster was trying to do: her well-aimed fireball has disintegrated one Web and the other is on fire, soon to be burnt up!
Wemic L and Centaur B move themselves, with B taking J's right hand and then placing her own right hand on L's left arm. The cleric of Marteaus bares her fangs in Toros's face, then touches her unholy symbol...
...and all three of the females disappear.
The only one left to fight inside the ziggurat is the crazed Flat-top.
Toros (AC 23, hp 41/70), Bless, d20=12 d20=6 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 5:13:06 AM
Toros dodges the web and fire with minimum damage. (reflex saves 23 and 17) As the opponents disappear, he dispells the "silence" with a snap. Concentrating on the illusions, shadows and silence, the wemic has not been aware of his surroundings and now sees a crazed Flat-top with shocked eyes. (I still wonder how that cleric of Marteus could see Toros!?)
Winterglade [AC22 HP31(61) Prot. from Energy(fire):74] 2d8(6+2)+3=11 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 5:29:33 AM
[Did the second attack on me really connect? Flat-top rolled 21, I have AC22?]
Winterglade squints sideways at Brahmah. "You just flank him and whack him unconscious or something. Winterglade can hold on for a while."
Louder: "All right, let's see if you can hit Winterglade when he doesn't have his back turned on you!" The centaur faces Flat-top rising his massive shield to intercept blows from the black sword [using tower shield to gain full cover].
Flat-top (AC21 / Hp 92; -1 level; Curses) d20+14=21 d20+9=21 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 6:52:52 AM
Flat top look to Winterglage with empty eyes, listening to a sword, "Yes! Master!"
The sword tell the center "I NEED BLOOD! I NEED MAGIC BLOOD! NOW KILL HIM!" Yells the Black Swird.
"Yes! Master! is Flat top answer.
He attacks again (hit with Ac 21 / AC 21 - Both attacks Clang on Winterglade Shield) But the vibration of the blows, shakes him.
OOC to Marcin Tuesday May 15th, 2007 6:55:10 AM
You lucky Fellow! Just one more hit point and you would have made that Black Sword HAPPY!
But there's always the next round??
Zeoll d20+21=27 d20+7=16 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 7:23:38 AM
When Zeoll gets to the entrance, he sends the minotaur off to fetch meat, and the wemic he leads to the top of the pyramid. Or actually, near the top, but opposite the side that the minotaur went, so that there is no chance for the minotaur to see what is about to transpire.
Zeoll tells the wemic to take off his iron items while Zeoll gets ready to open the treasure vault. Then Zeoll casts detect magic on the wemic and his gear. He pretends to scan the pyramid, while actually scanning the wemic. (Bluff check 27, Chr check, if needed, 16)
Brahmah (Helm of Languages) [AC(24) 22+4 shield spell -2 size, HPS 90/105(123), Immune to Fireball 70 mins, Pro from Acid, Shield, Bear's Endurance, Enlarged] Heyoo (AC 16, hps 44/45) d20+2=8 d20+5=9 d20+4=22 d20+1=14 d20=14 d20+4=15 d8+2=10 Tuesday May 15th, 2007 9:13:04 AM
With obsession of his own, the minotaur makes very sure that Vargas can not access ANY of his equipment. He checks to see if the taur is alive. (Heal check 8, doh!)
(OOC: What type of weapon does Vargas have? Bludgeoning, slashing? etc.)
Brahmah strikes out at Flat-top. (taking -4 to subdue, hitting AC 22 (no confirm with 15) with his large kukri, for 10 subdual damage! miserable performance!)
"KEEP AN EYE ON VARGAS! MAKE SURE THE OTHERS CAN'T GET TO HIM!!"

Gecktar (AC20, HP22/66, magic vestment, divine power, shield of faith, bless) Tuesday May 15th, 2007 1:25:42 PM
Gecktar looks at the taurs leaving the area. We will meet once more I guess he thinks to himself.
Gecktar hearing the call of his captain turns to Vargas and closes the fallen blackguard trying to keep some distance between him and Flat-Top.
During his move near Vargas he takes off his shield and draw a wand of healing.
