Lang watches Wynn all of a sudden break the window he was spying through. He then hears Wynn yell for Lang to get help as he jumps throught he window.

Umm this is not good. They were supposed to stay out of sight. Lang knows it is too far back to the cave for help and he isn't going to leave Wynn alone to have all the fun.

Lang cures himself once with the Cure wand (6 pts). Lang then grabs his shortswords and rushes over to the window that Wynn entered and dives in after his friend (jump 21). He lands inside the building and springs to his feet (balance 22), scanning the room for Wynn and the half-orcs (spot 16/18).

OOC OK Folks, we have a bit of a timeline issue here. Xenia by taking her time to open the chest and then counting the coins has taken quite a bit of time from the group who stayed in the cavern. That is everyone but Wynn and Lang.

Wynn and Lang went and scouted the Longhouse. Being sneaky and taking their time to be quiet and hide along the way, they also took a long time. I am going to say that 23 minutes have passed since the battle. Yes I am being kind to Lang.

Back in character:

Xenia runs out of the cave just knowing that something bad is about to happen. Her female intuition is just screaming at her. Still it screamed just a little to late as she hears a huge explosion come from the Longhouse which is quite a distance away. She does see light coming from that direction.

Wynn rushes into the room and does a quick scan around the room. He hears a muffled yelp coming from the corner and sees two large burlap bags wiggling around.

He glances at the flaming oil and knows he is just to late. Both barrels are burning and before his eyes, they explode spraying flaming oil in every direction. Wynn is hit by the stuff and takes 16 points of damage from oil. His clothes are on fire and he will take 2d6 points of damage every round until he extinquishes himself.

Lang hears the commotion as he finishes his cure and rushes towards the window. Lang can see the fires are quickly spreading do to the fuel and the Longhouse is doomed unless they can find a way to extinguish the flames quickly.
Then he hears the woman's screams coming from inside the wooden house.

Thursday April 26th, 2007 10:40:52 PM

"Wynn get out of there. Save yourself now."

Lang looks on the burning building, helpless to stop the spreading fire. He then hears the women screaming.

"I will get the women Wynn. Get out of the building."

Lang hops through the window and lands on the floor.

Belkior
Thursday April 26th, 2007 10:50:47 PM

The halfling cleric tries to keep up with Xenia when the rogue heads towards the cave entrance. But there's no way that Belkior can do so, so he looks to Angus.

"Something must have happened to Wynn and Lang while they were scouting. Any way to get down there quickly?"

Wynn [AC=24; HP=40/64]  d6=2 d6=3
Thursday April 26th, 2007 11:05:14 PM

The bard sheathes his sword and races through the flames towards the burlap sacks. "C'mon Lang, help me get them out of here, before it's too late!" The flames lick at his cloak and hair, but he cannot stop to douse the flames, not when the captives are in so perilous a situation.

If Wynn can reach the burlap sacks he will call out to those inside, "Be still, we are here to rescue you!"

Angus
Thursday April 26th, 2007 11:05:28 PM

Angus will rush to Belkior's side when he calls him and he watches the after effects of the fireball. "I think I boys were not stealthy enough."

Angus will grab Belkior's shoulder and dimension door 760 feet (253 yards) closer to the log cabin (down the path). "Ready or not, here we go."

ooc: Not sure the distance to the log cabin? Angus will dimension door with Belkior 2 more times if needed to get to, or just closer to the structure.

The light! Don't go into the light, Xenia ...

Huh? Whazzat?

The rogue shakes off the invading pop cultural reference from another place and time, and she runs. Over the tops of the trees, she runs in the direction of the Orcies' log place.

Wonder what chance the Orcies have of coming up this way? Probs slim to none. Still, the girl rogue keeps the green eyes peeled as she runs over the magic road of air.

Apparently Bin's fears have come to pass and there is indeed problems. He looks to the immaciated dwarves to see what expression are on their face. He gives them a chance to decide their own fate.

"You guys can sit up here and I will stay to protect you. Your weaker then normal and have been through a lot. Or, you can grab whatever improvised weapon you can find and follow me down the road to help the captives and kill some evil? What say ye?"

Bin's face remains emotionless whatever they decide. He will not leave them alone after what they have been through, and it is obvious the other members are more powerful then he.

We are now in combat rounds...we aren't in combat per say but need to keep everyone's actions equal while people are taking damage

Lang pulls himself into the room from the window, toppling to the floor. He calls out to Wynn to save himself and he will save the women but the Bard ignores him.

Wynn, ignores the flames licking his skin and hair as he makes his way towards the burlap bags, he calls down for them to be still as he tries to help them. Wynn takes another 7 points of fire damage. ooc He will keep taking 2d6 until he is extinguished. If Wynn has any combustible magic items like cloaks, hats, etc they are in peril.

Angus grabs Belkior and dimension doors about halfway there.

Xenia starts sprinting down the path, running through the cleared area heading towards the trees and she knows that this is going to take to long. She wonders if this could be a plan or an ambush from the orcs down below.

Bin questions the dwarves and they eagerly grab up their hammers and start heading for the door

Syr seems stunned by the explosion of activity around him and sits watching as everyone runs around.

One of the bundles stops wiggling at the sound of Wynn's voice and then starts to squeal an intelligable noise at him. The flames are catching everywhere. Bedding flares up and the heat and smoke are quickly getting intense.

The others can see a glow coming from the longhouse.

Sunday April 29th, 2007 7:03:25 PM

The bard pulls a dagger from his arm sheath and quickly slices through the burlap sac, freeing whomever or whatever is trapped inside. With his free hand he snatches his hat from his head and stuffs it inside his shirt, keeping it from the flames that lick at him.

Mindful of the perilious situation they are in, he looks about for another way out of the longhouse.

OOC We are in combat round for the judgement of actions. You only get 1 move and 1 standard action per round

The others all in their way are trying to get to the burning longhouse to help their comrades. Angus activates his dimension door once again carrying Belkior with him.

Syr comes alive and starts sprinting down the path. He quickly outdistances Bin and the dwarves as he kicks it into another gear. The dwarves and Bin still do their best to get there.

Xenia literally runs through the air, desperately trying to aid the man she loves but can she make it in time.

Lang rushes over to help, braving the flames, but realizes that he isn't moving. His muscles won't repond to his brains commands. He sees that his last movement has him standing in a puddle of burning oil but still he doesn't feel any pain. The thickening smoke isn't burning his throat. It is as if someone has stopped time.

All of the others try to get there but realize they can see into the longhouse as if they are there themselves. They know they are not, Angus and Belkior are actually in the tunnel of the dimesnsion door. An interesting experience in its own right.

They also see someone else in the room, with them. An incredibly handsome man also watches the action. He seems to be studying Wynn intently as if he was watching a play.

Only Wynn can move...Wynn pulls his dagger and screams in pain as the flames burn his flesh. Wynn takes another 9 points of damage. Wynn needs both hands to cut the burlap and cannot save his hat this round. If he wants, he can save try to save it next round, but that will hamper his rescue attempts.

His quick surgical cuts reveal the face of a terrified pregnant woman. He hands are tied behind her back and she screams at the sight of Wynn's burning hair and body as he tries to cut her free.

"Go, now, find your way out, look for a window but be quick" he rasps.

Wynn stumbles towards the second burlap sac and prepares to slice it open as well. The heat is overbearing, and the superheated air burns at his lungs, but he cannot leave an innocent to die. He reaches deep within himself and shuts out the pain, at least for the moment. So intense is his concentration, he does not notice Lang's inaction.

The Crimson Shields struggle against the invisible bonds that have frozen them to their positions but watch in fascination, wonder and horror as Wynn struggles against his pain, the fire and now the thickening smoke. They can see his skin blistering as the flames eat at his flesh. They wonder at the impassive man watching the scene and have to wonder if he is really there. The heat, flame and smoke doesn't seem to have any effect on him. All wonder if they are in an illusion, time has stopped or this is divine intervention but no one really has any answers.

The first pregnant girl leaps to her feet and struggles towards a window coughing from the smoke and wincing at the flames and heat. She makes it to the window and starts to open the shutters.

Wynn is focused upon his prize ignoring the flames and the smoke as both tear apart his body. Wynn stumbles the few steps to the next sack and gets a good hold ready to slice it next round without imperiling the wiggling victim within.

Once he is fairly certain that he can avoid the person encased inside, he slips his dagger through the coarse cloth and draws it upwards. The burlap gives way to the sharp blade, and falls away from the captive.

The bard tries to direct the orc's prisoner to the nearest window, but cannot voice his intent. His vocal chords have been seared by the intense heat, and smoke fills his lungs. Wynn frees the pregnant woman who moves towards the window as the other captive opens the shutters. Wynn can only gasp in pain as the flames still eat at his body and the smoke sears his lungs. 6 more points of damage.

As he looks around, he then notices the handsome stranger smiling at him. The man waves his hand and everything changes. All of the Crimson Shields find themselves in front of the burning Longhouse. Wynn is in the center, with the others including the dwarves and the 2 women around 15' away in a half circle.

The handsome man is standing by Wynn who collapses to his knees in pain, coughing, trying to draw air into his seared lungs. The man reaches forth and says, You have done well my son and have attracted my attention. Your bravery is rare in this Wold and something to be cherished. Most would have let the strangers die, afraid for their own lives but you disregarded the danger to you, the pain, everything to save them. For this you get my blessing and your reward.

He lays his hands on the Wynn's head and Wynn feels a shock of energy jolt through him. He has felt healing before but nothing like this.

When Wynn rises he is wholely cured. All of his hair is back and even his clothes are repaired. He looks and feels wonderful. He feels stronger than ever and totally on top of the Wold.

The handsome stranger looks to the others and says, You are lucky to have this man as your friend and companion. He is a true hero, but I think he is lucky to have you as well. Hold on to each other. Remember what you mean to each other. A time of testing is coming and it could mean the end of all of you if you aren't strong enough. If you don't pull together, you are surely doomed and the whole Wold might shake at your fall.

With these cryptic words, the man glows brightly and then disappears. Everyone is released from the stasis that holds them and they all recoil from the heat they can suddenly feel coming off the burning building.

OOC Wynn, you now have double your normal hitpoints. Each main number is increased by 2. IE stength +2, dex +2 etc. Consitution doesn't net you any more hitpoints, but does help skills and saves. The bard rises to his feet and offers a hand of friendship to the stranger who has healed him. "Your words are too kind friend, for I know that each of these brave souls would have done the same if the opportunity was presented. I am Wynn Brightsong, originally of the Cinnamon Valley and now a member of The Crimson Sheilds of Hope, and these are my friends" Wynn waves his free arm across a broad arc, indicating his fellow adventurers.

When Xenia rushes to his arms he holds her tight and lets her emotions wash over him. He is glad to have someone to hold, for truth be known, he thought he might perish and that his last glimpse would not be of Xenia but of his own charred flesh and blistered skin.

"Xenia, this is...I'm sorry, I don't know your name, but this is Xenia who I cherish more than any."

DM George

Both women seem to slump when they are asked for their stories. One appears to be around 5-6 months pregnant and the other is a little less. The more pregnant woman says, "My name is Katrin and I was sold by my family to my husband around a year ago. My husband Orgiz was a sergent in this merry band but when on patrol a few days ago, the group was attacked and my husband was killed. None of the other men wanted me, so they tied me up and left me behind. I don't know what I am going to do now.
Why did they leave me? Where am I going to go. How will I raise my baby?" With these heart wrenching questions Katrin slumps to the ground and starts to cry. The other nameless woman slumps with her and wraps her in a hug and starts to cry with her.

The fire burns on as the group looks down at the crying ladies. Wynn dispite the sad story still feels just great. Both Belkior and Bin believe they were visited by a divine presence but the form is a mystery. The god like person didn't take on any normal forms usually taken by the gods in avatar form.

What is the plan now? The treasure is back up at the caves, you have 2 pregnant woman and 3 dwarves to look after now but the problem of the orphanage being extorted seems to be solved.

Angus stretches and does not relish having to walk back up the hill as he is running dangerously low on dimension door spells.

"Ladies can you make it up the hill? We will rest for the night and see what the new day can bring us all."

"We might have a sticky situation here," Xenia whispers into Wynn's ear before detatching herself and going to kneel beside the two pregnant human women.

"Hi, I'm Xenia. We'll take care of you. Like Syr says, we got places for you to go. They're places you can, you know, build a life. We got a plantation full of kids. When yours are born, they'll have lots of brothers and sisters there. Or, we got a place in Floating City. Lots of room but no one to take care of it. We're not there all the time and it would be nice to have someone to look after the place while we were gone. If you don't mind cleaning and stuff."

"But ... we gotta know some things, yeah? I mean, you say that your, um, your husband was with those orcies and such, right? I mean, you do know they was shaking down the local farmers and stuff for cash and crops don'tcha? That's not something we can put up with. 'Specially as some of those farmers are our friends."

"So I gotta ask you, do you know anything about who your little band was answering to? Anyone in Plateau City?"

(Sense Motive 4, Diplomacy 20)

Xenia glances up at the burning cabin. Even at this distance the heat is fairly intense.

"I think if anyone's still in there, Bin, they're beyond anything we can do."

Bin sits down a way's from the others and puts his head in his hands. Although he is relieved they, the party, listened to him in the cave and it is because of that these women are alive, the fact that there could be others inside and him without a means to help almost makes him sick. he patienly waits to hear from the women they were all that were left behind.

Wynn is indeed a courageous person, if he ever wants to become a Protector, Bin would be happy to sponsor him.

Friday May 4th, 2007 10:23:29 PM

The halfling cleric kneels to tend to the two women who were rescued from the burning longhouse. Katrin's story tugs at Belkior's heartstrings, and it's exactly the kind of thing that he was never good at. Broken bones, battle wounds, and the like are easy for him but emotional or mental issues always bedevil him.

Still, Belkior does look up when Katrin mentions the men departing.

"Excuse me, do you happen to know where the men and the other women went?"

Q&A (Co-DM Nellie)
Saturday May 5th, 2007 10:38:15 PM

Katrin's sobs slowly fade as she listens to Xenia and the others. "New....life. Apartment..." she blinks back her tears in disbelief. "I can take care of things. Me and Biztha we're real good at cleaning and stuff..." Katrin's head shakes sadly as Xenia asks about the racketeering. Picking herself up, she moves a little way away from Biztha. "Like I said before...I was sold to Orgiz. Now he was a good man and all, never beat me...not like the other men used to beat Biztha. She was really popular with the rest of the guys until they found out she got pregnant...that was about a month ago...they've been beating her pretty regular since then..." Katrin looks up at Xenia with sincere eyes. "They never told us nothing, and we weren't stupid enough to ask. As long as they feed ya and don't beat ya too much, life isn't too bad." When Belkior asks about the other men and women, Katrin just shrugs. "I don't know...they locked us up and left us here. Thank the gods you got here or we'd be dead!"

The women look to the Shields, uncertain as to what might be in store for them as the sun begins to fade. When asked whether they can make it up the hill, Katrin nods. "I think we can make it...though we probably move pretty slow compared to what you're used to."

"hehe. What? You think Wynn rescued you from the fire so we could leave you behind on the road? C'mon," Xenia holds out a hand each to each of the two women, "be a nice change to take it slow and not be rushing off after something. We're the Crimson Shields. Pertectin' folks is what we do. We got healers too. That's Belkior with the cat legs - yeah, it's only a little weird - and that's Bin over there. With them around your babies are gonna be fine."

babies ... Xenia sighs as the group begins the trek back up to the cave for the night.

To bring babies into a life where not being beaten is all you got to look forward to. For the first time the dark girl tastes the understanding, not just a knowing, but the full understanding of why it might have been that her real mother had abandoned her in the sewers. How much worse must be the life of a Drow slave for her mother to have done that? Again the hatred flares within her, for the dark people of the Underdark who she has never seen.

Then her eyes fall on Wynn. Lucky girl. How is it that she became such a lucky girl? To be found by Marcus and Sliver. To have all of Marcus' intent to exploit her talents turn to fatherly love. And now to meet Wynn. Lucky lucky girl.

Xenia slips an arm around Wynn's waist and leans her head against his shoulder as they stroll along the evening road. Whaddaya do with luck like that? Whaddya do when the Wold sends everything your way? The quiet of the evening is filled with the crunch of their boots on the mountain trail. You share it. That's what you do. With luck like that, you share it.

He then looks toward the married couple, "I'm OK with the love birds being on the same shift, as long as they keep a constant watch, instead of finding alone time while the rest of us sleep."

"Why are we going back tomorrow? The half orcs already have a head start on us, are we gonna just let them go somewhere else and do this to another region? I think we should send the ladies back with the dwarfs, which seem capable enough to take care of themselves when not out numbered by giants and ogre mages." Bin looks less fruistrated then he had thinking there are others inside, but he appears rather miffed by the situation. Later he finds Angus, "I dunno about the women in the house. We seem to draw alot of negative attention. Remember what happened to our last apartment? Anyway, that's my take on the subject something to think about."

Continuing on, "About those orcs, Bin's idea does have some merit, never leave a foe behind you. It might be best to see what Lang can come up with in terms of tracking them before making that decision."

Besides, Belkior did take the special obstetrics classes for halfling priests ... 'small but strong' being the motto of the class.

Belkior hovers near the women as they slowly trudge up the hill. He watches Katrin carefully since he knows that she is reaching the part of her pregnancy when her agility begins to suffer.

Once back at the cave, Belkior will examine each of the women and the dwarves.

The group trudges back up the hill to the giant cavern. The way is well lite as the fire continues to consume the longhouse. Only Bin seems concerned that the orcs are getting away. Maybe the rest know that the orcs are always pawns in such matters and the real leaders have been put down.

The two women seem to calm down after the reassuring words and offers of employment and the possiblity of a home for them and there unborn children. "Will your orphanage take in part orcish children? They will only be a quarter orc?" one asks?

The night passes and dawn finally comes. The group decided to leave the man room and camp in the giants bedroom. Xenia keeps eyeing the giant mirror wonder how she can get that home.

Angus turns to the rest "It has been a hard few days. Lets get some rest and take what we can and go back to the orphanage. Kay will know best if our new charges will work out. If not, we can set up our new lady friends in Plateau City to start a new life. We have some investigating to do in Plateau City."

Angus will go over to the Dwarves "Please travel with us back to the orphanage and then we will escort you to Plateau City. We will only make an overnight visit to the orphanage before getting you home."

In the morning, Angus clears his mind and reorganizes his thought for the day. It feels good to have a full complement of spells once again. Angus is dreading the long walk back, at least the pace will not be blistering with the Dwarves and pregnant women. "Shall we get started back to Kay. Anyone want to range ahead or sweep behind us so that we can avoid any nasty surprises?"

Angus will take time to talk with the dwarves and practice his dwarvish and find out what he can about their dealings in Plateau City.

Bin points to the two women rescued, "Take a good look at them, because technically, their dead if it weren't for us. Are you all going to stand there and tell me you will let these monsters have another chance at burning people alive?" Bin then points to the dwarves, "What about them? The injustice and pain they had to deal with as well? I'm not saying we have to kill them all, if they are willing to surrender, but I think justice is slacking if we just let them get away after all they done."

"What about all this loot as well? Does it not belong to the people in the area? Are we going to take it for ourselves after the people of this area have suffered? Those half orcs still have their share of these people hard earned money, I can guarantee you that."

"I'm sorry guys, I don't mean to break up a friendship as well as a group, but I am going to chase these guys down until I'm dead or they pay the penalty for their evil deeds. "I mean, we gotta find 'em and come to some sort of understanding with whoever they might be working for."

"But you gotta know, Bin, there's a difference between tracking the bad guys down and making sure they don't do bad no more, and running off into the woods in the dark. Lang's a tracker. We'll follow 'em. We'll even be able to fly after them. Tomorrow. Patience will get 'em, Bin."

With a look to Angus Bin smiles again, it has been a few days since anyone has seen him do that, "Do those on second watch get less rest then those on first?"

"Bin we use some of our loot to run the orphanage. That is one way we give back to the community. This is at least the third group of evil doers that we have broken up so that they cannot continue to harm or harrass people. We broke up the Anvil Heart gang in the Floating City, an undead cult where the plantation is and now these guys."

"We'll get these half-orcs. It may not be tomorrow, but it will be soon. Unfortunately, the women and the dwarves are our priority now."

In the morning Lang will study for his 2 spells. He will take point with Syr for the travel back to the plantation.

"Your fervour for justice is well appreciated Bin. The deeds of these villains are heinous indeed, but they are not our first concern. Long we have pursued the idea that the less fortunate deserve our help and attention. Justice may well earn second place in our hearts, but hope is our first cause. Besides, a thin line separates justice from vengeance, and the latter has claimed at least one of our group and led him down darkened paths. He walks with us no more."

Wynn hopes his words do not cause undue irritation to Bin, but the memory of Florin's descent haunts the bard to this day.

When the party is settled and the watches assigned, Wynn takes out his journal and begins to write the account of the giants cave and the freeing of the women. Memories of Angus and Xenia firing off spells and Lang single handedly occupying one of the giants from behind the wall of fire pour from his pen.

The halfling cleric listens to the debate about pursuing the orcs and half-orcs. Belkior hears what his companions say to Bin, and then chimes in himself.

"Like Xenia, Land and Wynn said. We're simply not rushing in tonight. If the orcs are broken and retreating, then our first priority is caring for their victims. If the orcs are falling back to another position, perhaps to their real employer, then rushing in without preparation isn't a good idea."

"It's one of the hardest lessons to learn as a Healer and Paragon - you can't protect and heal others without regard for yourself."

Belkior motions towards the women and dwarfs. "We'll look after them, and then see about the orcs. And we'll do it prepared and careful, not rushing in blindly."

DM George

The night passes without incident as the group tries to calm Bin down from his thoughts of justice. Still he brings up a good point. Some of the treasure they have found must belong to the families and farmers around the orphanage. It is doubtful that all of it came from those sources because of the large size of the treasure but some most likely did.

The group starts to trudge down the hill once again, Xenia taking a long hard last look at the mirror she is leaving behind. She tested it last night and it must weigh 500 pounds. When the group gets to the burnt out longhouse they seem the flames have burned down during the night but it is still smoldering, sending smoke up into the skies.

As the group moves forward, Lang does notice a large set of tracks. Horse tracks...lots of horse tracks leading down the mountain and away to the east.

After several hours walk following the tracks (they are going the right way), Lang is able to determine that the horses break off into three seperate groups. The smallest group seems to be heading back towards civilization, while the others two evenly split groups, head north and south.

Angus

Just before turning his watch over to Sry and Lang, Angus comments to Bin "It is best for us spell users to get a continuous rest to recover our spells. At least I need eight solid hours in the rack, preferrably one that hold a deep feather bed and a warm and willing lass." Getting more reflective Angus adds "We will get the orcs and pay them back soon enough. Lets help those we can now and see what we can learn from the pawns."

On the trail, after Lang relates the spliting of the horsed orcs, Angus takes off his big leather travel hat and scratches his head. "It appears that our quarry still have a capable leader. Are the orcs stattering to throw us off the track or are they out to gather strenght or just going to report on their losses and hide out? Lang can you tell how many in each group? These large groups may now have to aggesivly forage now that they have no stronghold so everyone keep a sharp eye out."

The girl rogue pouts. Her full dark lips take on a Very-Dissatisfied sort of shape. But, in the end, she herself sees no way to cart this truly enormous thing back along the forest trails all the way to Floating City. In fact, it's a wonder that those Giant Guys, even with their strength, were able to get it all this lonely way out here.

"Musta taken two of 'em. Or four even," she mutters. "And when it comes down to it ... " She narrows her eyes and plants both hands firmly upon her hips. " ... What those Giants got that makes them want a mirror anyway? If I looked like that, I mean, Eeewwww you know?"

As the party moves out, Xenia leaves Katrin and No Name Girl to the care of Belkior, Bin and Angus. Following Wynn's lead, she takes the opposite flank, shadowing his movements as she slips, near invisible through the woods. (Spot 30, Listen 23, Hide 30 accelerated, Move Silently 17 accelerated)

"Can't really even split up," she adds to Wynn's comment. "Lang's the only one who can follow these tracks. And I'm thinking that if they're on ponies, we aren't gonna catch 'em anyway. But ... if, like Wynn says, we follow this smaller group, which looks like it's going back to the city, we got a chance of catching the leaders. With them in hand, we can even maybe have them draw in the rest of any of their bands, not just these two groups we got here."

Bin wakes up after a fitful sleep. He prays for his spells accordingly and right before all are ready to leave, Bin asks Xenia, "I know we did Detect Magic on the items we found, but I don't remember anyone doing it on that mirror you admire, is that correct?" (ooc: I found nothing in the history saying we had, but I may have missed it.)

Bin casts Detect Magic on the Mirror before they leave, if it had not been done before, just to be certain, then scans the area of the caves throughly, or until the spell expires, once more before leaving.

On the trail back, Bin continues the conversation with Angus, "Does second shift get less then eight hours rest?"

When the trail splits thrice, Bin curses the orc's for being smarter then he had thought. Knowing they are on horseback, while he is on foot does not make it any easier as well. "The only way we can catch them without similar mounts is magic, if someone has the means, perhaps we should split the group. Some taking our guests back to the orphanage, while others using the magic, catching up to the ones going back to civilization?"

His eyes trail off toward the other two groups that have slipped through their grasp, for now. " I have prepared divining spells if someone feels there is a reason or need? For instance, I could use my Divination to ask, if there would be any hostile encounters for the dwarfs and", then nodding to the women, he pays them some respect, which is likely foreign to them, "ladies, if they went to the orphanage by themselves. If the answer is no encounters that would be fatal, like livestock, or a farmer, we would not have to split the group and we could follow the ones heading toward civilization."

OOC Sorry can't hold out on posting but the player posts from yesterday is rather dismal.

The detect magic on the mirror doesn't yield any positive results but Xenia does know that they are leaving a nice treasure behind. A mirror that large would bring a nice price.

As the group marches, (who is carrying the treasure chest or are you leaving it behind?) they throw questions at Lang on the enemy ahead, the ranger is to deep in concentration to bother answering. (Will need a track roll to answer some questions)

The group keeps moving and finally gets back to the original ambush site where the ogre mage was killed with so many of his friends. (ooc need intelligence rolls from everyone please. DC 13)

The bodies have ripened and many scavengers have worked on them so the place isn't very attractive right now.

Both pregnant ladies look at the bodies and turn pale. They seem to be glancing around and the smell drives the nameless one ...whose name you discover through conversation to be Lily to vomit her breakfast into the bushes.

She had thrown up too. That first time, out in the Crying Woods, after they had killed the witches. And she had cried. But now, death was not such a stranger.

"I, um ... " (Don't know what the INT roll is for, but failed with a 4.) "I ... I mean ... " Xenia sighs as she struggles with something within herself.

"Look, I think we need to follow the trail of the leaders, Angus." Her words come out more snappish than she had intended. "I mean, it's important to find out who they're working for, that's the point of this whole thing. Until then everyone we know is in danger!"

Then abruptly, Xenia whirls.

"I'm sorry, Lily. I'm sorry. So sorry. Katrin. Yeah. It's like Lang said. When we fought these guys all the half-orcs ran off. But ... But, I mean ... "

"Back in the woods I shot one down. There were, like, six or seven of them against me, and I didn't shoot to kill, I didn't expect them to kill down so quick. But one of them, he fell. The others ran off. I got down right away and kept him from bleeding out. But we had to follow the ones who were running away. And ... well ... we left him."

"Dunno whether he was your man." Xenia looks to both women. "Or if he wasn't. But he wasn't in no shape to care for himself. And we left him."

Bin (AC: 23/23 HP: 45/45)
Thursday May 10th, 2007 12:05:19 PM

The Protector refuses to feel bad about killing these foes of the innocent. He looks to the women to ask them a question, "Did you actually see your parents take money for you? Did they give your parents an option? Or did they just tell you they bought you and that's the last you know?"

Bin totally agrees with Xenia, Bin wonders why Angus is so determined to stop following the smaller group. "Agreed, just because they are on horse back, does not mean they are traveling so far we can not catch up to them. I could do the Divination to ask if it is possible to catch up to them as we are?"

Thursday May 10th, 2007 10:18:25 PM

Wynn looks down at the ogre mages body in disgust. "Why would anyone go to this trouble?" he asks Angus and Belkior as he points at the headless corpse. "Is there some magical reason to remove a head, or do they just want to ensure their anonymity."

DM George
Thursday May 10th, 2007 11:00:58 PM

The group surveys the damage of the last battle when Xenia confesses to possibly killing one of the ladies husband. Both look at her and start shaking their heads. Lily steps up and grabs her Xenia's hand and holds it to her cheek. "Both of our "men" were killed on a patrol about a week ago. I don't think you were responsible but even if you were, I would understand. The group we were with were evil. We both know that. We were just trying to make the best of a bad situation."

Katrin, looks at Bin and says, "Yes my parents sold me. I have a lot of younger brother and sisters and my parents knew they could feed them with my price. It is horrible I know but when your children are crying with hunger, you do what you have to do. You have forgotten what it is like. You all are so powerful and rich. You have magic and gold to spare. Not everyone is a lucky as you are."

The group heads out towards the orphanage with their charges in tow. Some still debate this course, not liking leaving evil out there but others are satisfied that they have thwarted it enough for now.

You march through the day and night starts to fall. It is obvious that your new friends are exhausted. The women from their pregnancy and the dwarves from their mistreatment and recent malnutrition.

You figure to make the orphanage tomorrow around noon.

Angus
Thursday May 10th, 2007 11:49:38 PM

Angus looks at Xenia and Bin "It is a hard choice we have to make. We have responsibilities to five new souls. How will they take the next fireball that heads our way. We have to get the innocents to safety. I still want to track the trail of the supposed leaders to the city. How well will Lang be able to track once we get to the Plateau City. We can pick up the trail after dropping off the ladies. Our new Dwarven friends need our secort back to the City."

Angus sighs before continuing "Remember we have to check on Kay and see if there is any work on Buckle. This is a big puzzle and we need all of the pieces. Once we drop of the dwarves in the city we can use our City skills to see what we can find out about a group of orcs and half orcs that entered the city. They may not keep a low profile. Also, maybe they will let down their guard as they feel safe from pursuit. Again it is a hard choice. "

Angus rubs his neck "Do you want to split the group? Xenia, Bin and Lang to follow the trail to the city and see what they can see, all while the rest of us drop off the women and get information on Buckle. We can meet in the city in two days time. What does everyone say to this plan? I would rather keep the group together and go to the orphanage and then the city."

Angus waits for responses.

Bin
Thursday May 10th, 2007 11:51:29 PM

ooc: I'm sorry, but I am rather frustrated by the fact there was no further discussion, nor did Bin have the option to cast his Divination in regard to us following the others toward civilization or if the coast was clear for the rescued to proceed on their own.

Bin is your character. You are playing him the way you feel you should and that is fine. I have noticed that in this enviroment, not everyone reads everyone's elses posts carefully or forget what they said during the day. If you want to cast your augury, go for it. You don't need anyones permission. DM George

Belkior
Friday May 11th, 2007 7:21:42 AM

The halfling cleric tends to the women and dwarfs once the party has stopped for the night. Belkior has some empathy for how they may be feeling.

After he has completed ministering to the injured, Belkior will move over to where Bin has been working on his equipment.

"Bin, we all know how you feel about pursuing the evildoers. Once we get the dwarfs and the women to a safe place, we can pursue them. Or, if you wish, you can cast your Divination spell and ask for guidance from Domi. But be prepared for an answer that you don't anticipate."

When Angus suggests splitting the group, Belkior shakes his head. The halfling cleric never likes letting any member of the group to get beyond reach of his healing and protective spells.

Xenia
Friday May 11th, 2007 11:28:55 AM

"tanks ... " Subdued still, guilt weighing within her like bilge ballast in the hold of ship, Xenia figets. Then she throws her arms about both women. "Thanks!"

"ooooh ... "

She hugs them both strong, with a passion born of relief.

"Girls gotta stick together, huh? We'll make sure you're cared for. That's what we do."

+++++++++++++++++

"Well yeah, Angus. I mean, either me and Lang or Lang and Wynn. Lang for tracking through the woods and me or Wynn for trying to follow where they go if they go into Plateau City. I mean, the longer you let a trail sit the harder it would get to follow, doncha think?"

Leastwise that's what she had said back at the Big Ogre Battle Clearing. But things being what they are, time slips by, nothing gets decided, and pretty soon they're past the point where the trails are and they'd have to go all the way back to pick it up. And maybe they should. But ...

"Hey, Bin," Xenia says across the campfire. "if you can still do your Divinity Nation thing, whyn'tcha ask Domi if he can tell us where that smaller group went, huh?"You figure to make the orphanage tomorrow around noon.

Wynn
Friday May 11th, 2007 9:36:46 PM

Wynn remains conflicted. Clearly the two women need their assistance to get back to safety, and later to reknit their lives back together. At the same time, the bard realizes that if they are to put an end to the extortion, they will have to find out who in the city is behind it...and then there is the matter of the severed head.

"Bin, just what does this divination of yours tell us? Can you find out who removed the ogre mages head? Will you know the whereabouts of those who conspire in Plateau City? Perhaps you should give this a try."

The night passes without incident and the sun rises on a grey day. Clouds are rolling in and it looks like it might rain. The group continues on its way, and makes good time to the orphanage arriving right around lunch time.

As they travel down the path, they can see the children doing chores, working in the fields and romping around the house. Kay comes out on the porch and holds her hand to her eyes shading them from the sun. She calls something into the house and Buckle walks out and puts his arm around her waist and waits for the group to get closer.

When the children see the Crimson Shields, they in mass abandon their duties and rush forward surrounding the shield members and the new friends. Angus is swarmed with kids holding up their hands looking for the treats he always brings.

Kay and Buckle come to the rescue and shoo the children away. Kay looks on with an anxious face awaiting their news.

Bin if you want to cast your divinitation, I will make an amendment post giving you an answer.

OOC..I am traveling next week and believe I will have internet access, but if I don't Nellie please fill the breech. If I do, I might be posting at some strange times so please try and get your posts in early.

Experience points awarded for the last module! Everyone gets 9000 xps. This might seem a little heavy but it looks like a while since you have gotten some so making up for lost time. Angus  d4=4
Saturday May 12th, 2007 9:56:18 AM

Angus is very glad the group came to the general realization that it is best not to split up and to go to the orphanage first.

Angus is glad to see both Kay and Buckle. After a quick hug with Kay, Angus asks Buckle "So where have you been hiding? I thought you were missing?" Angus turns to Kay "We may have found you some help. Two wayward souls that need a new start on life." Angus points to the two ladies with his eyes.

"I do not think that you or your neighbors will be experiencing any troubles any time soon, but we have further mystries to investigate as some of our quarry escaped, but not the leaders. I will let Wynn tell the tale as he is so good at it. We will only be staying overnight as we have have to get our new dwarven friends back to their families in Plateau City."

Angus wills spend an hour with the kids and then off to contemplate new spells.

Bin would have offered to take the rescued back by himself while the others pursued, but he wasn't able to get it out in time.

The new day looks like Bin feels, although seeing smiling children does warm his heart a tad.

(OOC) Out of town right now, so I won't be able to look at Bin's character shhet until I get home Monday night. Hopefully, I can post in the morning.

As far as people not reading others posts, it's a shame, but I understand. I try very hard to utilize others info in my posts, but even I miss things.

No big deal.

Xenia
Sunday May 13th, 2007 11:26:10 AM

"Kay!" Xenia throws her skinny arms around the human woman. "Hey, Buckle." The girl rogue flashes a special sort of grin at the couple who got together in and amid the planty horror that had engulfed Floating City during the rise of the Feye King. "We brought some folks to see the place."

"This is Katrin and this is Lily. We rescued them from the band that was hitting the folks 'round here for Protection. As you can see, they're sorta in a family way." She looks Kay in the eyes with that They've-Got-Their-Own-Story-To-Tell sort of look that girls share with girls. "And this is Kay and Buckle. They run this plantation here with the kids from the orphanage out of Floating City."

"Think you could use a couple more hands around here, Kay? I mean to help with chores? And ... with the kids?"

"Final say is up to Kay. Um, and Buckle too," Xenia says to the two former Prisoner-Brides. "And you're still welcome to come work housekeeping at our place in Floating City. But, you gotta know. Syr and Angus are right. Sometimes folks work up a grudge against us, and it's not always safe to be, like, right in our house, if you know what I mean. But it's up to you. We got this place, out here. Country living. Or we got a place in Floating City. Merchant Level. City life."

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Rhro-rhro rhro-rhro rhro! Who's coming inta my cave? I'm gonna throw a rock at you. Yah!"

"Flame you! Take that!"

"I'm gonna put up a Stone Wall to block 'em out!"

*sha*sha*sha*sha*sha* Without saying nothing, the little stick man cuts with two swords at the big floppy bunny doll.

And so, Xenia plays with little blond Kyria and some of the smaller kids for part of the afternoon. They re-enact the battle of the Giant Cave.

With some differences.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Hey, Bin ... " the rogue asks later. "Can you do that divination thing a lot? I mean, you could be askin' lots and lots and lots of questions. Like, you know, 'What's the Big Boss' name?' 'What's the Big Boss' Address?' 'How big is their operation?'"

"Hey, here's one. Ask Domi if those orcs are gonna be bothering anyone again. Maybe even ask him when and where. That'll tell us right where we have to go and how much time we have, yeah?"

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

OoC: I'd vote one Hero Point to Belkior as well. Taking the AoO to get where he was needed to heal fits the definition: An act of self sacrifice that, in the end, worked.

Lang & Sunshine
Sunday May 13th, 2007 9:47:17 PM

Lang & Sunshine are both glad to be back with the children on the plantation. Sunshine when he sees the children running towards them, looks at Lang with his tail wagging a mile a minute. Lang smiles and tells Sunshine to go to them. Sunshine runs to the kids, licking as many faces as he can.

Lang is also happy that it appears that nobody has pestered the orphanage since they left. Perhaps the kids can have some peace now.

"Yeah Bin see if you can find out if the half-orcs are still around. Then we can track them down and persaude them to stop picking on the defenseless."

Wynn
Monday May 14th, 2007 9:14:13 AM

The bard is subdued, and a little withdrawn as the group arrive at the orphanage. The condition of the two abandoned women reminds him of a vision...or was it a dream?

Back in Floating City, after indicating his choice for the Fey King, he had seen what his life might be like...his children. But when he had looked to Xenia for validation, the thin girl had doubled over holding her middle. For a moment, her lip had trembled, then her green eyes had turned to steel. But she loved him, didn't she?

How would the unfortunate Lily and Katrin react once their babies were born? Their babies conceived in such dubious circumstances? And with orcish blood in their veins?

Wynn decides to check out the little brook fed pond. It had been cool there, and quiet...

Bin
Monday May 14th, 2007 11:07:14 AM

In answer to Xenia's question, "I am not powerful enough to get specific answers to questions, as of yet. I can cast a Divination in regard to how a specific course of action may turn out, however. For instance, if I wanted to walk up and touch a bull, I could cast the spell and ask, Will the bull be aggressive if I walk up to it and pet it. I may get a reply like, Expect it to run unless cornered, or something like that. As for them bothering others, I don't need to cast a spell to tell you they are set in their ways of easy living, so yes, they will, somewhere."

Bin gets out his materials for the spell and casts, "Great Domi, please inform us of our possible outcome if we went back to successfully retrack the foes heading toward civilization?"

ooc: I agree with all nominations for hero points. Sorry, I have to catch a flight soon and won't be in till very late.

Belkior
Monday May 14th, 2007 9:23:23 PM

The halfling cleric watches as the women and the dwarfs are welcomed to the orphanage. And, like he always does, Belkior looks to the health of the people there. Mind you, he's pleasantly surprised by how well the children are doing here in the country. Fresh air, exercise and good food seem to be doing wonders for them. In fact, this might be a good place for the two women. On the other hand, they might prefer the anonymity of the City.

"Katrin ... Lily, like Xenia said, maybe you could stay here. I'm sure that Kay and Buckle could use a hand and, well, it's not too difficult to get into Plateau City. But you're going to have to think about what will be best for both yourselves and your child."

Syr
Monday May 14th, 2007 9:27:38 PM

Diving into the nearest bundle of kids, he begins wrestling and tickling all available bodies. After exhausting himself and several others he moves outside to the porch for a breather.

Looking out at the barn, he sees several loose slats and moves to fix them. Finding the hammer and nails, he spends the remainder of daylight patching and mending the sides of the building. The smile on his face is the only sign showing his contentment with the mindless task.

DM George
Monday May 14th, 2007 10:14:11 PM

The group settles in at the orphanage and seems to enjoy the peace of it. Both Katrin and Lily seem happy with the surroundings but seem nervous at the same time. After a tour of the facility, Lily asks Kay if they accept orcish children at the home. If they do, she will be glad to stay. Katrin chimes in, "I would also like to stay here. This seems like a wonderful place to raise children but I can only stay if my child isn't discriminated against."

Kay looks at both woman and says, "I will treat you and yours the same as all the others and I will try to shield them from the Wold but children can be cruel to different people. There are a lot of children here. You are always welcome as long as you want to stay. We can surely use the help."

Bin casts his spell and finds himself whirled away. He isn't sure if it is his entire body or just his mind or maybe his soul but he is walking in a grey mist but he doesn know that this isn't normal. A voice enters his mind and
Bin feels incredible love and excitment at the same time. He knows that he has never communicated so closely his God before. YOUR PREY IS DISORGANIZED AND RENDERED INEFFECTIVE. CEASE YOUR WORRIES ON THAT FRONT. PREPARE YOURSELF AND YOUR FLOCK FOR A TEST.

Bin finds himself back to where he was but he is exhausted. He feels like he just ran ten miles.

Angus looks at the dwarves "Tomorrow morning, lets see if we can get you back home. I need to stop by the library once we are in Plateau City. We also need to see if can find those that escaped us. We can see who may have run across them. I bet they leave an easy trail to follow."

After Bin's vision, Angus will add "That was interesting. What do you think it means?"

"There, you see." The girl rogue puts an arm each around the two pregnant women, whispering close. "Din I tell you they were good people? I mean, they accepted me right off, and look at what I am." With a finger she touches the dark skin of her cheek to bring emphasis to her drow heritage.

From the corner of her eye, the rogue spots her guy as he wanders down to the Mill Pond. He's got that I'm-Thinking-Deep-Sorta-Something-Thoughts kind of look on his face. It looks a little like the Writing-Stories Face, but it's got this sort of feeling of worry and care about it.

Maybe tonight they could get a room to themselves. She'll wear that nice frilly underwear he bought for her. And maybe she could take his mind off of whatever is making him think those deep deep thoughts.

Wynn
Tuesday May 15th, 2007 10:32:02 AM

Down by the pond, Wynn strips, laying his clothes in a neat pile next to his pack and other gear. The water is cool, like he remembered it, and refreshing against his skin. The half-elf wades out to a deeper section and sinks under the surface. There is a slight moment of discomfort, and then the mutations effected by the druid magic make it possible for him to draw oxygen from the water.

After a while the bard returns to his gear, changing into a clean shirt, and breeches. Finding a shady spot he inventories his gear, as his mind reviews recent events. The orphanage appears to be safe...for now. Lily and Katrin are okay, and seem happy enough. The Crimson Shields seem marked for distinction. The cryptic words of the mysterious stranger echo in his mind, "a time of testing is coming and it could mean the end of all of you if you aren't strong enough."

Satisfied that his gear is in order, the bard takes a moment to jot some notes in his journal. Closing the book with a sigh, he moves to climb the gentle embankment and join the Crimson Shields at the orphange.

"A time of testing is coming..."

What does it mean for the Crimson Shields? What does it mean for him?

Bin
Tuesday May 15th, 2007 1:22:12 PM

The protector feels like a babe, swaddled in linen and is being rocked to sleep during the course of the conversation. Ecstacy etched upon his face as the glory of his deity pours over him like a mighty waterfall on a insignificant little rock.

Then it fades and Bin realizes his plight. He falls to the ground in a hot sweat, legs trembling. Dry heaves snap at his abdomen as he attempts to keep down what little content he is able to ingest in the day. His robes and armor wet with perspiration. After a few minutes of heavy breathing while attempting to stand, he decides to just sit on the ground for awhile, wearing a grin from ear to ear, as if he just beat a cheetah in foot race. "I love my job."

After telling the group what the reply was, he decides that Domi will take care of those scum bags sooner or later himself, although Bin does feel like he let evil slip through his grasp, he decides, If Domi doesn't care if they escape, then why should he.

After his rest and as soon as everyone is refreshed enough, Bin goes into a new topic. "I would like to suggest that we summon a community meeting and find out how much loss the people of this area have endured and return it to them, then we take what is left and go to the Catacombs. When this test arrives, that Domi speaks of, we do not want to fail."

The halfling cleric tends to his companions and the inhabitants of the orphanage farm. Upon hearing the results of Bin's divination, Belkior nods in agreement to the idea of returning what they can to the victims of the bandits.

"Buckle, how well do you know the neighbours? Is there a local meeting place or something like that where we can get people together to discuss this?"

They probably can't do anything about the livestock that went into the bellies of the bandits, but those who lost cash or coin might have some of their losses returned. Then Belkior thinks of something else.

"Actually, Buckle, is there a local leader or government? I mean, they probably already have a list of who lost goods or money to the bandits. Could they be trusted to handle the disbursement of the money?"

OOC - How much downtime is likely to occur between the modules? A halfling who can craft items is wondering.

The day wears on and the group enjoys the company of the kids, Kay and Buckle and their new 5 friends. The ladies are given a tour of the plantation and shown where they can hang their hats.

Buckle pulls Syr aside and says, "I have heard that you have started a construction business. We are starting to get a little cramped here already. This plantation house was meant to lodge a large family but we have 47 kids and now 4 adults. We need more outbuildings, living quarters and maybe a school. Can you help?

Buckle answers Belkior and says, "Actually I am not positive how many families were effected. I was trying to track them myself when you first arrived and form some kind of militia. Most of the farms around here were hit but each one was different. I would think about 1000 gps would cover the losses. I would be glad to distribute it to them if you want. You could do it but they are very shy around armed groups right now...I am sure once they hear about how you solved the problem and are giving the money back, they will sing your names in song."

The night comes on quickly and after a simple but good meal, the orphange seems to settle down. Morning arrives and the day is glorious. Not a cloud in the sky and the children gather for breakfast at dawn.

OOC This module is basically done. I still need to get character sheets for people going up. I figure most everyone has risen in level. I should finish up the next module and get it off to Jerry by the weekend. Hope he gets it back quickly.

Night comes and the dark girl rogue learns a lesson about living in and amongst children: There is no such thing as a private room.

"I been thinking, Kay ... " The next day, Xenia pulls the human woman aside. "You know, if you and Buckle want to go into Plateau City with Angus and the rest of them, some of us could stay here with the kids. Hold down the fort. You could get some shopping done. Get a room at an inn for the night. Maybe, um, like, have some Private Time, if you know what I mean?"

... a test ...

Off and on the rogue ponders the stuff Bin pulled out of his divination, and the question keeps returning ... Why? Why's a god interested in them? And what's the test for? Knowing Domi it's likely gonna be a test about hitting something and putting it down. But why? What's behind it all? What's the point?

Hearing Buckle's request the elf nods enthusiastically, "Of Course! As soon as I get back to Floating City, I will send a work crew right over. I hadn't realized you were up to 47 kids. With so few adults, do we need to start looking at geting you more help on that front?"

Wynn
Wednesday May 16th, 2007 4:17:32 PM

Back at the manor house, Wynn tries to be useful. The half elf is subdued and avoids the children, if that is possible...

After the simple meal, he heads for the stable block and to the loft, where the vampires had been. It would be safe now that the creatures were routed and the place had been purified by Belkior. Instead of writing, the bard reviews his journal, and thinks over all that has happened since he took up the dwarf's quest.

Wynn resolves to continue the work the group has started, and do whatever it takes to deserve the praise and recognition that is being heaped upon the party. The adventuring life suited him, but it was dangerous work, fraught with horrors that hardened the heart. His thoughts move to the half-drow whom he had grown to cherish more than life itself...

If Xenia joins him, he keeps his thoughts to himself...his behavour strangely rough and awkward.

In the morning he misses Xenia's cue, and volunteers to go with Angus, to Plateau City.

Bin
Wednesday May 16th, 2007 4:22:56 PM

This area is Bin's true turf. He remembers fondly his first days as a true priest, ministering to this area for what little experience he can gather. The worst problems he dealt with in those times, were angry bees or a stray bull out of the pin tearing up a garden. Times have changed it seems and for the worse. Perhaps that is why the Protector took it so personel that his flock in this area was abused. He wonders if he could have changed things if he hadn't left. If only he didn't ask for more excitement and challenges, he could have stopped what had occured here. He dwells on the past as well as thinks of the future.

The Protector spends some time in the community over the next couple of days. He used to minister to a little old lady in these parts a while back, he would like to check in with her to see how badly abused she was, compared to others. Perhaps he can get her famous cherry pie recipe from her this trip.

He also sets up a make shift meeting spot so any who would like to hear a sermon will be able to.

Out of his previous funds, Bin donates one thousand gold pieces to the area, judicially, to get livestock back to those that lost them and for repairs that may be needed to properties that couldn't be repaired due to the extortion.

If not preaching, he will recieve the sick or wounded to be helped. If they can not travel, he will go to them.

Lang realizes that crafting a bow to utilize his enhanced strength is outside his crafting skill. He sighs as he knows he will have to spend the money to have a better bow.

"Angus, I am up for a trip to the city. I would like to visit the catacombs and purchase a few items. Does anyone have a tally of our share after deducting the farmers share?"

Belkior

The halfling cleric holds a hand out when Bin offers to pay from his own funds.

"That's a noble gesture, Bin. But let's see what we can recover from the bandits first. And, if that doesn't cover all of it, I'm sure that others can help make the total amount," Belkior continues.

Belkior wakes before the dawn and goes outside to seek a quiet place for his morning devotions. Belkior finds spot to pray to Alemi near the pond, much cleaner and more appealing since Buckle and the children have been working the farm.

After he finishes his devotions, Belkior returns to the farmhouse for breakfast. He doesn't join those going to Plateau City, instead staying to help Buckle with dispersing the funds. He knows that Buckle said that the neighbours might be cautious around armed men but, well, Belkior is easily identifiable as a Paragon of Alemi.

OOC - Character sheet coming, showing the level up. If time, cash and availability permits Belkior will make some items and I'll send a revised character sheet after that.

Kaye throws her arms around Xenia and gives her a huge hug. "Yes, I would love that! We haven't had to much time together recently and I think it is starting to strain things. If you would stay, I could get some special shopping done." She gives Xenia a wink.

Bin starts wandering the country side talking to the farmers and other families in the area, donating his time, money and spirituality to them. They all seem to be very grateful and many ask about Domi and what his teachings are. They occassionally get a visit from different priests from the city but don't have a church of their own to pray at.

While Bin seems to travel on his own, Belkior decides to travel with Buckle to see some of the hardest hit farms and also spreads the wealth and goodwill. Buckle is willing to help out but seems to get called away for a town trip with Kay so Belkior will have to make do with directions after the first day.

When Syr asks Buckle if they need more help, does agree that it is tough to work the farm with just children and the limited help they have. More adult men or couples would be good but lodging will then become even more important.

Wynn, Angus, Lang and Syr all decide to make the journey to the Plateau City while Xenia basically stays behind with Katrin and Lily.
The three dwarves also make the journey.

As always, Angus is glad for travel companions on the trip to Plateau City. ANgus goes to drop off the dwarves and bids them a less eventful life, given their recent experiences with the giants. "Be well. If after you meet up with your kin you want to go to dinner later in the week, I am available. I am always looking for new eating establishments to try and to practice my dwarvish."

Angus will also attempt to catch up with any of the Plateau City gang, especially Mira. Angus will check all the local haunts that the group showed the Crimson Shields.

Angus will also go to the library to do some research on a few spells.

"Bye!" Xenia waves from the porch after having given Wynn a parting kiss. Not even out of sight and she's missing him already. Or are those pangs of regret at missing out on the trip to Plateau City? A *SHOPPING* trip, no less!!!

"Bye ... " The dark-skinned girl sighs as the others walk off into the distance.

"Well. I guess that means we're in charge here, huh? We all got chores to do, right? Don't think you can be getting out of those just because it's Auntie Xenia here now instead of Kaye."

"Might be Bin and Belkie will be coming back for lunch. Maybe not. Be that or not," Xenia says, gathering Katrin and Lily together, "lets see what they got in the kitchen and put together some sort of plan for noon time and evening meals."

For mid-morning break, the rogue pulls her hair back into the ponytail she hasn't worn for several weeks and hauls a bucket out to the kids. Full of water mixed with a little sugar and some squeezed fruit juices, the heavy bucket sloshes some, spilling a bit to the ground here and there. (Balance 13)

"You guys know what orcs are?" she asks the collective kidlings as they gather around for break and treat. "Orcs and half-orcs?"

"Yup. They're strong. And they're mean. Yup, that's right, Damon, they can be Evil too. But not always. Orcs can be good too. Especially the half-orcs. And it's 'cause they're strong and they're really good fighters, that it's good to have them as friends. Yup. I bet they could be good friends too."

Sitting in the shade during the morning break, Xenia talks to the children of orcs and half-orcs.

Bin

The Catacombs are definitely on his list of things to do. The money he spent on his trip a small tithe as it were to his God. When people speak of a church he informs them, "To Domi, a cathedral or a barn is just shelter from the wind and cold. Praise him in small groups or in large, on a hillside or a forest and that is a church to Domi."

Bin travels for a few days, maybe a week, roaming the country side as he needs. He heads back to the orphanage after that to see who is left and he makes plans to head to the city to meet up with his friends and drink a few pints.

Syr
Thursday May 17th, 2007 7:42:58 PM

Syr joins the others on the trip. Once at City, he takes a moment to duck into the Catacombs. After taking care of that business, he heads immediately to the teleporter.

Moving quickly in Floating City, he speeds down quickly to the wharf for a stop by Shield Construction. With a quick peck of hello for Dotta, he gives terse instructions for the modifications to the farm. Next he gives the books a quick glance before dashing off to rejoin the others.

Belkior

The halfling cleric tends to the orphans, the the women and the people nearby. After doing that, he makes the rounds using the directions provided by Buckle. Hopefully everything goes well.

Several days pass as individual members of the Crimson Shields pursue their various agendas. Both Bin and Belkior feel they have accomplished a lot of good in he community and their good works are very much appreciated as both the gold and their God's word is spread.

Xenia preaches to the orphans to be toleratant of all races and spends a great amount of time in the kitchen cleaning dishes. Kay and Buckle both come back the next day with happy grins on their faces looking refreshed and recharged.

Syr speeds through the Plateau City to the teleport gate and on to the Floating City after payinng his 5 gps toll. He arranges for crews to head to the Plateau City and on to the farm but realizes that he will have to bump some paying customers to do this. Still the books look good so far.

Angus hits the library and does he work getting rid of his Angus Laughter?.

The whole group meets in the Plateau City after a week and discusses what is to come next.

Realizing that he has to move a few customers, the elf takes the time to personally visit them and explain the delay. Playing on their heart strings he emphasizes the plight of the orphans and their cramped living conditions.

Once back with the others, he stands nervously and reports, "Guys, Shield Construction is doing well. Not as well as when I spend time there but good nonetheless. Everyone's share from the last three weeks is 20, 20, and 48 gps. I know it's not much but at least we are still in the red. Since I have alot more invested in it than you guys, I was going to donate my profits to the kids on the farm to add another bunkhouse."

Wynn  d20+13=32
Friday May 18th, 2007 12:35:28 AM

Wynn explores the delights of Plateau City during his visit. He takes a plain room in the same inn as his companions, but makes his own way through the city. A trip to a reputable bath house for a proper trim and a professional shave is first on the agenda. Next his clothes are sent off for cleaning and repair. What is beyond repair is replaced.

The bard explores the shops and markets during the day, and various taverns at night. Most of the time, he sits by himself, soaking in the lore from the story tellers and bards performing in the various establishments. Sometimes he is accompanied by one or more of the Crimson Shields. One night he manages tickets for a performance at the Mask Theatre in the Rogue Quarter.

Always, his ears are alert to news and information (Gather Information=32) which he shares with his companions, back at the inn.

Bin

Once Bin returns to town, he will report in with the local area church to inform them of the latest occurance.

He enjoys the cith before heading back to his new city which he now calls home.

Xenia  d20+7=18
Friday May 18th, 2007 11:38:30 AM

Morning of the fourth day. Xenia stands on the porch again. This time, she herself is dressed and kitted for travel.

"Bye. Be good. I'll miss you too." The rogue steps backwards, waving to the throng of well wishers as she departs. The walk into Plateau City is full of melancholy thoughts of parting. And time, the walk is filled with plenty of time.

Now, how to find the rest of the guys? That is the question. Maybe they shown up at Sampson. That's where the Plateau City guys hang out. Even if the Shields aren't there, she can catch up with Mira and maybe do some shopping or sight seeing. (Gather Info 18 to find the Shields) Wandering the streets in the early evening, Xenia stops at a little shop and buys a cucumber samwich. In the plaza, beneath the spires of the Cathedral of Light, she eats her light meal while watching the sun go down.

"That's fine with me, Syr." From beside Wynn, Xenia answers in a voice distracted by thought. "I think they could use more rooms out there. For teachers. The bigger kids. And stuff ... "

"You know, I been thinking 'bout what Bin said about a Test coming. I mean, if that comes from a god that's gotta be pretty serious. Right? I mean, shouldn't we, like, try to find out more about it? 'Specially as we're in Plateau City now. We got the big temples here. We can maybe, you know, like, find a priest guy who could maybe tell us more about it, or talk to Domi or Alemi more direct, or sump'in like that."

"Whaddya think?"

Belkior
Friday May 18th, 2007 10:32:20 PM

When Syr returns with the construction crews, the halfling cleric joins the elf in donating his earnings to Buckle and Kay. Belkior has no immediate need for the cash, and this will probably bring a greater long term return to Floating City and the Wold.

The walk back to Plateau City is uneventful. So much so, that Belkior wonders how such a tranquil countryside exists only a teleportal away from the wilds surrounding Floating City.

After they pass through the gates and meet up with the others, Belkior will hear Xenia's question about seeking divine guidance. He'll nod in agreement.

"It's an idea, Xenia. I can see if an elder at the Cathedral of Light is willing or able to do such a thing. Anyone want to go with me?"

After some shopping, Belkior will go to the Cathedral of Light and request an audience with an elder priest of Alemi.

OOC - Is someone going to have to go back through the posts for the loot list, or can George or Nellie provide it?
