Scene 2: Ties that Bind

Two Priests [DM Jerry]
Friday September 7th, 2007 3:36:16 PM

As Athalorn says, "So friends. What next?," two priests approach.

"I guess that would be us one says."

One priest is a fixer of Gargul. The size of his scarred hands are enormous. He is a dwarf of large stature.

The other is an Oathbound of Pantheon. He is tall, regal, and seems to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders.

The Oathbound speaks now.

"I am Rhamus. I am an Oathbounder of Pantheon. I am headed to Parnoth's Castle on a request for an Oathbinding Ceremony.

"I hoped that someone here could tell me why Parnoth was needing to summon a Master Oathbinder?"

----------

[Sorry for the missed post yesterday. I'll try to post again over the weekend to catch us up.]

Brother Bertram
Saturday September 8th, 2007 12:10:56 AM

Bertram will greet the fellow follower of Gargul respectfully. "Hail Brother, Well Met. May I ask your business here?"

Athalorn
Saturday September 8th, 2007 2:33:13 AM

Unsure of what an Oathbinder is, and therefore unclear as to why Parnoth should summon one, Athalorn walks over to the pair. "Strangers, you show few manners here. What powers, Rhamus, do you possess that the Dragon might need?"

Ingrge
Saturday September 8th, 2007 3:54:35 PM

Ah one of the Oathbound here at the bequest of Parnoth. What ever the oath green and scaly wants to make, I will bet they do not bode well for the demihumans of the Emerald Kingdom. I suggest that we accompany these gentlemen to Parnoth both to ensure their safety and to see what our illustrious Monarch has to say about things. Plus i suppose it is our duty to inform his highness of the presence of the Ancient."

Milo
Monday September 10th, 2007 12:11:25 AM

Milo snorts at Rhamus' question, "Because the dragon wouldn't know a kept oath if it fell out of the sky, hit 'em in the face, an' started to wiggle... Ingrge is right though... we should probably keep you company on that little trip."

I Bet He Won't Like It [DM Jerry]
Monday September 10th, 2007 12:19:09 AM

"Hmm...I won't refuse, but I'm betting he won't want you all along, nor like that I came to you on the way to him.

"Nothing he could do about it, but call for another oathbinder, but still. He wouldn't like it."

He turns to look at Athalorn, questioningly, but doesn't answer him yet.

"So, what's this tree then?"

The monk snickers at Milo's flogging of Parnoth but says nothing himself, watching the newcomer.

(Sense Motive 29)

Other rolls if needed. (Spot 15, Listen 36)

Athalorn
Monday September 10th, 2007 1:15:55 PM

"This tree, Oathbinder, is an ancient spirit of the Culverwood. More than that I can not say, though Parnoth may be able to tell us more. Now then, as to an Oathbinder's powers..."

Olana
Monday September 10th, 2007 4:01:12 PM

Approaching K'Nara quietly, Olana keeps her voice low.

"Whether Parnoth likes it or not, we need to know what's going on. And if it's all connected to this great tree, then we need to know even more.
Unless the great beast has been napping, he'll know something's afoot, for sure."

Gunther
Monday September 10th, 2007 4:07:22 PM

The warrior watches the verbal exchange between the priests with a detached boredom. Calling to Delilah, he gently strokes her coat. He looks over at K'nara for assurance. "Sooo...ve're going to see Parnoth? Dat should be fun..." he chuckles as he thinks of the overgrown lizard's likely reaction to the Emerald Dragons showing up so soon after their last little run in.

Brother Bertram
Monday September 10th, 2007 7:05:10 PM

Bertram again inquires of anything the fellow Gargul follower can tell him about his mission and failing that, any gossip concerning the priesthood.

Milo
Monday September 10th, 2007 8:07:38 PM

Pleased with himself, and sure'nough ready to pay a visit to the big green meanie, Milo waits silently for the others to decide their next course of action.

Priest Talk [DM Jerry]
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 9:19:00 AM

The Gargul priest says, "I am Cinthalon, Wanderer of Gargul. I am a Soulseeker. I wander helping with souls and sparks of life that become misdirected and cannot achieve birth. I was travelling, following a scent of a problem when this Oathbinder walked up to me. We decided to travel together for awhile. He's a good guy."

The Pantheon priest says, "An Oathbinder binds oaths. Backed by the power of Parnoth's divine magic of justice, when one is oathbound, they have to keep the agreement. There are various levels of Oathbinding. From as simple as a wedding vow, to a treaty between nations. The penalties for breaking a binding can also vary from something as simple as a rash to slow excrutiating death.

"Well anyway, I understand that you don't know anything here that might help me prepare for this. So I'm off. Feel free to do as you will anyway, heroes."

Then he bows and turns to leave.

He whispers, "May Pantheon judge you fairly, good heroes."

Brother Bertram
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 11:53:29 AM

Bertram thanks the priest and then relays the information to anyone that didnt hear it. He cant help but wonder what Parnoth might have planned this time.

Lian
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 12:59:14 PM

"Wait Oathbinder. There are lies surrounding Parnoth. Will this help or am I missing a heap as usual." The elf looks at Knara. "Parnoth has made promises that were not kept and an Oathbinder might come in handy if we can bind Ol' Greeny and even that pudding head, Mop!"

"Nikolai also needs to be found and bound!"

"I don't speak for ANY of the Consortium, but I think your going to be needed soon."

"What allegiances do you hold, so we know where you stand?"

The hand of Domi suddenly stops, takes a step back and tilts his head slightly looking at the ground. He just realized that he overstepped his role and jumped right into Knara's or Ingrge's boots. Stepping on Dragon toes... not good.

Athalorn
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 1:22:28 PM

"I think we will come with you, Oathbinder. We would hear what that creature has planned for the wood now. And perhaps he needs news of the possible fulfillment of the prophecy bringing to him. I would like to see his face when that news reaches his ear."

Ingrge
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 5:27:22 PM

Watching and listening, the elder elf keeps eying the Ancient, waiting for something and not knowing what. As the Priests tells about the oathbinder, Ingrge again nods saying that that was what he had heard their powers were used for.

I say we should head on our way and perhaps we should bring Parnoth the gift of his now homeless faithful servant.

Milo
Tuesday September 11th, 2007 8:33:25 PM

At the oathbinder's speech Milo perks up, his eyebrows shooting up, "Did you say weddings?" The halfling turns to look directly at Olana with hope in his eyes.

Olana  Till slow excruciating death do we part
Wednesday September 12th, 2007 1:17:26 AM

Olana smiles warmly at Milo but then adds with a mischievous wink - "But what about the slow excruciating death part?"

As for the priests, she's always thought clerics were a little wonky. Good friends in some instances, and certainly handy to be standing next to in a fight, but definitely wonky.

"So we're going?" she asks her fellow adventurers.

Lian
Wednesday September 12th, 2007 12:19:24 PM

The monk stands, waiting.

Cinthalon [DM Jerry]
Wednesday September 12th, 2007 4:49:08 PM

"Yes weddings. And I must leave within the hour. So if you're coming, I'll rest here and you can prepare for your journey. I'm told it is about a day's travel from here?

------------

[We'll begin travelling with my next post folks. :)]

Brother Bertram
Wednesday September 12th, 2007 9:04:37 PM

Bertram shrugs and figures on yet another journey. He sighs regretfully at leaving the tower yet again.

Lian
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:17:20 AM

The monk packs ALL his gear. He will even take time to clear the saddle bags.

[Jerry, did you need a list of gear we're taking?]

Athalorn
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:35:38 AM

"Bye all means rest, Oathbinder." The druid calls Grawl to him, the bear having decided to forage amongst the now thick undergrowth of the Culverwood. He then checks he carries essential gear such as his pouches, and makes sure the wreaths of animal communication are working well, are watered and refreshed. He whispers to the bear, wondering how Parnoth would feel about the large Dire beast ambling around the Emerald Kingdom. Of course, Gunther would likely be taking his cats too, so the menagerie would be strengthened.

"Grawl, my friend, we will be making a journey soon, out of the forest. Will you come with us?"

Grawl
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:37:39 AM

With a deep rumble, the bear stretches his massive arms and then sits near the druid. He looks warily around at the other walking creatures with Athalorn, familiar, though not yet comfortable, with their scent, ready to take this 'journey.'

Gunther
Thursday September 13th, 2007 4:54:40 PM

The warrior prepares to head out with the rest of the group. He too checks and waters his wreathes. He grins as he sees Athalorn enjoying the fruits of his labors. Checking on both Thaeri and Delilah, he readies them for the overland journey. He's so glad the group didn't decide to use the teleport rings this time...always makes his stomach lurch.

Olana
Thursday September 13th, 2007 5:16:09 PM

Checking she's got everything, "So, are we using Ingrge's premise for visiting? It sounds believalbe to me."

Ingrge
Thursday September 13th, 2007 6:22:42 PM

Looking at Olana with a look of horror on his face.

"That makes it sound like it isn't the truth and that I might possibly lie. Is that what you think of me Olana? I am so hurt. I can't believe that you think I would even think of lying to the ruler of our country. Why even the idea is preposterous. So should we say that the huge walking ancient tree is also bright purplr with pink leaves?"

Brother Bertram
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:14:53 PM

Bertram makes sure he has everything he will need and prepares for the journey

K'nara and Aeralia take leave [DM Jerry]
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:25:56 PM

A messenger arrives. He says, "I have a private message for K'nara and Aeralia."

When they respond, the messenger repeats, "Its private."

The messenger and the two women go into the castle to talk.

Shortly, K'nara and Aeralia return. K'nara looking confused and Aeralia looking downright bewildered.

K'nara speaks. "Well looks like we've been summoned to the Plateau City to perform an undercover mission for the Free States league. They need two women and we were chosen. I guess this is the downside of what it means when Mordrid says that this is what being a Dragon is all about.

"Well it looks like this time it is about splitting us up for different tasks. I've confirmed it through Sturtavent and Valdor. They need us. And it is undercover, so we have to leave our rings here. I do not know when we'll be back, but we'll try to contact you and let you know we're ok as soon as we can.

"Anyway, we're due there within the hour, so believe it or not, for now, this is goodbye! You'll need to select a new leader. To be honest, I'm flabergasted. I mean I live to serve, but this? Separating me from my life-friends? It is not what I had in mind and I intend to tell that to both Sturtavent AND Valdor."

She falls silent to give the group a chance to respond.

Aeralia nods and her eyes are wet. "I too am very confused by all this. Why me?"

Milo
Thursday September 13th, 2007 8:50:52 PM

Though the departure of K'nara and Aeralia leave Milo somewhat flabergasted, the halfling remains silent throughout the affair. It appears as though he is somewhat speechless.

Athalorn
Friday September 14th, 2007 2:02:44 AM

"A shame that our paths should diverge so early in our friendship. I do not know where our path takes us yet, but I hope they cross again." He smiles at them both. "Farewell."

When they leave, the druid turns to the remaining friends. "So now we have lost Aeralia, K'Nara and Falin. The Dragons are shrinking in number."

Lian
Friday September 14th, 2007 12:42:20 PM

The monk walks up to the two women. He looks at Aeralia and answers her question. "Because your talented and Free States League know that or you wouldn't be chosen." He smiles. "I've told you that before!"

He hugs Knara and turns back to Aeralia. "And if I didn't do this and something happened I'd feel the fool." And he plants a hug and kiss on the young female sorceress. He staggers at his own unusual bravado, then dips to a bow. Looking up at her, "M'lady." He smirks and blushes.

"Yes well, referring to what you said about 'ensuring those two's safety'. Do they look like they need a babysitter? If they're anything like our Bertram, then anyone sneaking up on them will definitely have bitten off more than they can chew.
"Oh, and it looks like you're in charge," she adds with a wink, before walking up to K'Nara and Aeralia and giving them a tight, farewell hug.
"Stay safe, and come back as soon as you can," she tells them both. "I don't know what this is about, but if you need help, scream out for it. We'll be here, and we'll be listening."

On The Trail of The Wild [DM Jerry]
Monday September 17th, 2007 5:09:11 PM

The party comes back prepared to travel. They leave with the two priests and begin to head towards Parnoth Palace.

On the road, they see constant signs of the return of the chaotic nature of the forest. Very quickly, it is going to be less safe to travel for those who are not natives of the area, thus having Forestwalk as a inborn natural feat, born to natives of Culverwood. This feat prevents them from becoming lost to the magics of the forest.

One of the old tricks of Culverwood, being a chaotic neutral forest, is that of misdirection. The sun can appear to move in the sky and thus the sun, moons and stars cannot be used as a guide at night. The awareness of the forest, also knows how to take care of its own by steering prey to its dezidens.

It shouldn't be a problem for anyone born within the forest, but for others? Well, signs for "forest guides" are already going on in each village claiming that they can safely steer them to their destination.

Wild growth of underbrush and flowers are filling up all the meadows. More trees are growing, quickly. And it seems that long standing landmark trees seem to be just a little off from their usual location as you pass.

-----------------

[I need everyone posting again, before tomorrow night so I can start the next thing. I need us all here and ready before it can start friends. You will want everyone posting too. Would someone send out an email reminder to post. We missed alot of Friday posts, huh? ::grin:: Not fussing at all. Just saying be ready cause the actions about to start.]

Brother Bertram
Monday September 17th, 2007 5:25:05 PM

Bertram moves along with the others, glad for his companions that have knowledge of the forest. He looks about constantly for problems but is hesitant to carry his axe in his hand. The sight of that giant ancient tree made him wonder just how the forest might respond to him carry that huge axe through all of these trees.....

Gunther
Monday September 17th, 2007 5:50:25 PM

Absolutely flabbergasted by the loss of the love of his life (K'nara), Gunther follows the group in complete silence...head down...moping. He stays secluded, his dire lion and panther the only ones allowed to engage in any activities. Like a little lost puppy, the bulky cat trainer takes K'nara's solo mission very badly.

OOC: Sorry guys, still trying to get back into the swing of things...motherhood's a bear.

Ingrge
Monday September 17th, 2007 6:52:03 PM

(sorry about no friday post had a lightening strike that just about fried everything at the house. Luckily I have a major surge protector and a good back up sysytem now.)

Ingrge frowns as he looks around at the departing K'nara and Aeralia. And then snaps his head around as Olana makes her comment about him being in charge again and shakes his head, muttering to himself. "Talk about the inmates running the assylum." "Everyone got everything you need? I have a feeling it will be a while before we are back."

"Ok guys and gals let's stick together. I don't want to be trying to hunt you down in this wild mess right now."

"Olana, you and Milo take the lead Gunther you and the cats bring up the rear. I will join you. Betram you want to keep the good brothers company in the middle. Athalorn you take the right flank and Lian you take the left. Try to keep at least two members in your sight at all times."

I understand your a teacher and will need to post later in the day, and thats fine. Schedules will often clash. :))

An unusual feeling floods over the monk as Ingrge directs the troops. He's unsure whether its the mage's lack of tact or whether he simply misses Knara's lack of 'commanding tones'. Ingrge's voice seems less gentle, more demanding. Thats it.

"Try using the 'magic word' now and then old man. 'Please' catches more Dragons than vinegar." He smiles cheerfully.

Noticing Gunther's obvious mood change, Lian approaches. Placing a hand on his large shoulder, "Don't worry brother, she'll be fine and we'll see them both soon. I miss them already too." His expression is gentle but his face is flushed.

"Is it possible to tie ourselves off to each other while passing through the forest so we don't get lost? I was born just within a northern boundary of the forest, but I have no relationship to the forest. A friend of mine some years ago went wandering near the monastery and was lost for weeks. And that was when the forest was more dormant.
Teleportation is nearly impossible within the forest, correct, Ingrge?"

The druid nods at Ingrge's words, trusting the new leader implicitly. He takes the flank, walking through the dense undergrowth without hindrance and at a surprising pace. He barks a command at Grawl, who labours along behind him, making somewhat of a noise as the large bear tramples through the vegetation.

After a while, the druid changes his form, and deciding there was no secrecy to the parties movement, twists and enlarges into the shape of another Dire Bear. He keeps his eyes and ears tuned in to the forest.

The Writhing! [DM Jerry]
Tuesday September 18th, 2007 4:47:14 PM

The party, now about half way there, having travelled about 4 hours approaches what has traditionally been the edge of the Culverwood Forest.

This is marked by two huge trees, that the elves say have been there for as long as any elf can remember, which certainly is a long time.

However, these two trees seem to be writhing as if in pain. Definitely not natural.

Limbs seem to explode, the ends with their leaves going flying. The ground writhes with the trees, with grass, flowers, and weeds, moving around and some even exploding.

Open mouthed the two priests stop and stare.

Milo
Tuesday September 18th, 2007 7:40:23 PM

Knowing absolutely nothing about writhing trees, or what may have caused this, Milo rejoins the lead of the group from the depths of the shadows, where he once stood, "I'm clueless... Anyone else have any ideas?"

Brother Bertram
Tuesday September 18th, 2007 8:43:54 PM

Bertram stops with the others in shock at the strange writhings of the trees and surrounding vegetation. He tries to think of a way stop what is happening but his mind draws a blank. He looks to his Elven companions hopefully.

Ingrge
Tuesday September 18th, 2007 9:09:17 PM

Coming up on the writhing trees, Ingrge stops, a concerned look on his face. As Milo asks his question and Bertram looks for answers from his comrades Ingrge ponders for a second and then states out loud. It is a guess but I expect it has something to do with the Ancient and possibly Parnoth's Artifact that bound monsters into trees. But I do not know."

"Athalorn, can you tell what is wrong here at all? Any way of communicating with the tree?"

Athalorn
Wednesday September 19th, 2007 2:11:10 AM

The druid, in the form of a Dire Bear, quickly walks over to the trees. A deep rumble comes from the beast, and Grawl follows his friend.

The druid could communicate with the trees, if given time to pray for different powers, but for now he just shakes his head. He sits on the ground near the strange trees, eyes closed, watching the pained plants.

ooc: Lesson learned - Must memorise Speak with Plants in future. Sorry folks...

ooc: ...eyes closed, watching the pained plants....

Gunther
Wednesday September 19th, 2007 2:25:03 PM

The warrior takes solace from Lian and Athalorn. He even playfully punches the druid in the arm, though he remains mildly downcast. Arriving with the others at the trees, Gunther runs his fingers through his snow white hair. "Vell dat's new..." he mutters, completely clueless as to what's going on.

The dire lion looks up at the moving trees and begins to playfully stalk toward them, thinking that they look like fun new toys.

Grawl

Well, there was something you didn't see every day. Olana frowns on seeing the trees. What in the Wold was going on? It looked like Culverwood was fighting itself.

While Athalorn tries contact, she has a quick scout around to see what else might have changed in the immediate area.

Geography DC 19

A Legendary Beast! [DM Jerry]
Thursday September 20th, 2007 12:53:32 AM

The tree on the left seems to be reacting more violently, or perhaps its writing is accelarating more rapidly.

Suddenly, the tree splits open down the trunk and with a loud ripping sound, two parts of the tree fall in opposite directions.

Exiting the tree is what looks like a million dragon heads. Quickly, you realize that you're dealing with a multi-headed hydra. With the heads writhing, it is difficult to count the heads.

It is sparkling silver in color with the head scales having a bright sheen to them. The body is leaner than normal and the leg muscles powerful. As it moves, it seems much more dextrous than any hydra you've seen before. Several gems, and other metallic things, are embedded in its hide, similar to a dragon.

[Spot Check of DC25 to count the heads without taking an action to do it.]

[Spot Check of DC30 to determine details of what the gems and metallic things might be.]

The creature speaks.

"My name is Kortincrush! Prepare to meet Gargul! Your death means my freedom!"

It wheels on the party and its heads prepare to attack.

---------
The party gets first initiative folks. Go for it. You are all within 30' of the monster, yet none are within 5' so single melee attacks unless a non standard action haste is possible. ;)

AC is 32 for the body of the Hydra.

Now, I need anyone with knowledge of magical beasts to make a DC20 knowledge check please. Or anything else apprpriate. Those who make the roll are reminded that the only way to kill a Hydra's heads is to do a sunder attack WITH a slashing weapon. A success on this knowledge check also reveals the reminder that two new heads will grow quickly to replace the sundered head if it is not sealed by fire or acid.

Attacks to seal a head are a Touch attack.

In the Wold, we have special rules for sunder attacks so that you can resolve the attack all on your own without all the opposed rolls etc. that will slow us down.

Please review these rules if you want to attack a head. They are located in the Constabulary Castle under Special Attacks.

The Take 10 opposed check for the Hydra is +27.

The Touch attack is AC9.

-------

There is no way I have time to do a map tonight. Sorry. So we'll wing it without one. I will be lenient with movement, etc. I will try to be fair with attacks etc. but know that a Hydra can attack anywhere with any head. Especially a legendary one like this one who can talk and....do cool stuff.

Send questions by email please if possible.

--------

I need a character sheet for Bertram and Growl please ASAP. I'm trying hard to balance things and need that information. :)

--------

Let's enjoy the combat friends. Fun, not frustration. ;)

Clicking the heels on his boots of speed to activate them, Milo also activates his ring of blinking and charges in, taking a whack at the creature's vitals (body).

OOC: Spot check DC 32; Hit AC 32 for 33 hit points sneak attack plus 11 if the creature is evil for a total of 44 points of damage. Rolled 59% against 20% miss chance to confirm hit while blinking.

Thursday September 20th, 2007 8:47:48 AM

(Jerry ~ In the case of the hydra, will people with the Dodge feat have to choose a head to dodge or can they choose the entire beast?)

(Spot 30)

The monk clicks his boots, casts a spell, then rummages for a scroll.

Standard Action: Casts Bear's Endurance.
Move Action: Retrieves scroll from pocket. (Bills Pants of Plenty)
Free Action: Activating Boots of Speed.
Dodge hydra.

Athalorn (Dire Bear Form, AC 17, HP 132/132)
Thursday September 20th, 2007 12:20:05 PM

The large bear form of Athalorn roars twice, short and deep is his voice. He gestures with his huge claws, and brings forth a power that strengthens his allies. At the second roar, Grawl staggers forwards towards the strange foe, unlike any he has seen.

Athalorn then moves towards the Hydra, a fierce expression on his bestial face.

Standard Action: Cast Mass Bull's Strength on all the Dragons.
Move Action: Move to engage the creature

Athalorn  d20+23=34
Thursday September 20th, 2007 12:25:39 PM

Thursday September 20th, 2007 12:34:49 PM

The bear roars in reply to Athalorn's command, and feels the druid's magic course through his massive body. He rushes to the Hydra, seeing the druid's friends attacking and taking the cue. The bear swipes at the Hydra's body with a claw, slashing into flesh.

Move Action: Engage Hydra
Standard Action: Attack vs Hydra, Damage 17

---------------------

ooc Query - what size is the Hydra and can Grawl use Improved Grab against it? If so i rolled 44 for grapple roll, but I think Improved Grab only works against smaller creatures?

Ingrge: AC 28: HP 102/102 SR 18% Arcane sight, See invisibility  d20+15=34 d20+15=19 d20+23=38 d20+15=34

Staff in hand, and not totally surprised at what happend as he had just explained it as a possibility to the others Ingrge takes a moment to look the beast over Spot 34, spot 19 to get a quick head count and to see what the shiny things are. While he gets a good look at the heads he is too busy counting heads to see anything definite about the sparky stuff. Wracking his brain for information on Hydras Knowledge Arcana DC 38 Ingrge remembers about the heads and the multiplication of said heads and passes that info on. "Hey guys, if possible unless you can cut off and sear a head at the same time, go for body attacks, or the heads will multiply two for one."

That said Ingrge points his staff at the beast and sends a spell through it at the Hydra. Flesh to Stone - Fortitude DC 28, or be turned to stone; SR 34 negates attack.

After releasing the spell Ingrge backs up 20 feet.

Bertram is stunned as the creature crawls forth, awed as he tries to count the number of heads. Quickly he realizes counting the writhing heads is beyond him and says the words of power to Domi, calling up on him for his aid.

(ooc Flame Strike-Aimed to land at the back of the huge creature avoiding the other Talons facing the creature from the front. Half of this damage is fire the other half is divine and thus no save.)

What kind of a name is Kortincrush? mutters Olana as she regards the tree splitting critter.

She wastes no time in unloading some arrows into it's hide.

Hits AC 27, 14, 27 for 4, 3 and 8

She'll attempt to keep some distance but stay in in arrow range. No doubt it wouldn't be too pleased at being fired at.

I'll wait on ya Gunther. If I have to go to bed, I'll post early in the morning.

I plan on posting for Friday on Saturday as Fri is local D&D game night.

Next week, I plan on posting between 3:30 and 5:00PM from school before I leave after the kids are gone. That way I'm being consistent and not killing my bedtime. ;)

I will erase all these OOC posts as I post for each round. Easier to post the OOC stuff here than by email. Catches more people too.

Leaving this post until Monday so all can see. ;)

Finally! Enough of all this thinking stuff...time to kill!

Nodding acknowledgment of Ingrge's statement, Gunther rushes forward and engages the nearest head. He grins as his savage swing slices deeply into the creature's neck. (Sunder AC38 for 19 +3fire...Touch AC31 if needed to sear). He calls out to the dire lion to attack.

Sniffing the newly arrived creature with interest, the cat happily pounces and charges the beast.

Round 1: Emerald Dragon Results [DM Jerry]  d20+15=27
Friday September 21st, 2007 10:03:19 AM

Milo begins the attack by hitting the body of the Hydra solidly. One of Kortincrush's heads sarcastically says, "Ow! That really hurt. Hoohahahaaa!"

The other heads jump in laughing and shrieking rude comments and making faces.

Lian casts preparatory spells.

Athalorn in bear form boldly buffing the party again and then moves in to close with Kortincrush announcing to the group that the beast has 14 heads.

Kortincrush confuses things with various heads jabbering.

"No, more than that."
"No, there's 15"
"I thought there was only 8"
"That was before."
"Oh."

Athalorn also announced that it takes a sunder with a slashing weapon to kill a head.

"I thought we couldn't be killed."
"Yeah, what it said."

Then Grawl attacks also slicing into the body of the beast.

"Ow again! What? Two bears?"
"Yeah, one's a Druid. He's the animal's pet!"
"Oh!"

Ingrge confirms the information from Athalorn and adds to that some more information: the shiny things are actual gems, a couple of rings, and what might be a necklace, possible embedded magic items. He also yells that very quickly after a head dies, it will grow two heads in its place if the head is not sealed with fire or acid.

Then Ingrge brings out the big guns, casting Flesh to Stone! Kortincrush begins to harden. Creaking sounds are heard as bones solidify. Kortincrush tries to throw it off! He struggles, screams.

"Fight it!"
"I can't!"
"Don't give in!"
"I can't breathe!"
"Farewell cruel Wold!"

[Fortitude save of 27]

It turns to stone and all the jabbering stops.

Combat is over.

Milo
Friday September 21st, 2007 10:22:18 AM

Milo turns from where he now stands in the shadow the the stoned beast, "Wow Ingrge... you really know how to spoil a good fight." The halfling steps out of the shadow, and it is quite clear from the smile on his face that he is kidding only. He wipes the sweat of his brow in relief and rejoins his friends.

Anticipation [DM Jerry]
Friday September 21st, 2007 10:45:02 AM

The second tree continues to vibrate and shake. The ground still writhes!

It looks like it will burst soon.

I wonder, dear reader, what monster will be inside this one!

[ok done now. post away.]

Athalorn
Friday September 21st, 2007 11:44:27 AM

The druid, still in bear form and about to attack the beast, drops his combat stance, turning to look at Ingrge with what might be considered a grin, if a huge and scary bear can indeed grin.
He is certainly grateful the elf is an ally.

When the other tree begins writhing, Athalorn growls again, gesturing to the skies through the overgrown treetops. The sky broils with cloud above the group.

Full Round Action: Cast Call Lightning Storm

Lian  d20+8=25
Friday September 21st, 2007 2:53:42 PM

The monk looks at the mage. Disgusted, he walks up to the beast and casts another spell.

He casts Stone Shape (affecting 15 cu feet of stone), at the base of the great beasts stony neck stock, creating such a thin portion, that the heads will fall off from the weight of the stone. (If knowledge arcana 25 tells me this will not work, Lian will use the spell to open a hole in its skin just where his innards are. We don't want the beast to awaken later and exact revenge.)
"Least you could have done is waited six seconds for us to get a good thud in! Gunther was so looking forward to beating heads!" He smiles, watching the stone beast intently.

Ingrge
Friday September 21st, 2007 9:54:32 PM

Momentarily stunned that his spell worked so well, Ingrge looks around.

"Umm Wow? I was only trying to slow it down for a bit so we could get organized. Ah well don't expect my next spell to work so well."

It is that point that he hears and sees the next tree begin to gyrate. "Ware folks, we've got another live one."

Ingrge steps back again waiting to see what appears before he casts.

Hexortal's Initiative Round 1 [DM Jerry]  10d10(1+9+7+1+1+7+1+5+6+9)=47
Monday September 24th, 2007 9:02:42 AM

The stoned Hydra is warped beyond recognition as Lian sculpts it into his favorite nightmare. If that beast ever recovers from its personal stoned nightmare, it has another waiting for it.

Athalorn casts for some time: about 6 seconds, calling on the skies for a sign of power! The skies do indeed darken and seem ready for his commands.

As if answering the call of thunder, the tree explodes more violently than the first tree sending wood shards in all directions sticking in armor, flesh, etc. for 47hpd. [10d10(1+9+7+1+1+7+1+5+6+9)=47]

[Reflex Save DC26 for half.]

Where the tree was is now a large thick bodied reptile with 8 quickly moving legs. Rows of spines jut out from some amazingly crafted armor. Its eyes glow with an eerie, pale green incandescence. Whereas most basilisks seem sluggish, this one is faster than a raptor!

It immediately focuses a gaze at Ingrge! "You defeated the stupid hydra easily. You will not fare so well against me! I am Hexortal! Assassin for the Lord Nosopes, Pit Fiend ruler of Morbedzehiel, Castle of Torture in the Estates of Unrest!

[Ingrge, save vs. active Gaze attack Fort DC22 or be turned to stone yourself!]

[Jerry: Ahh the irony! Yes it was planned already, my friends. Can you now see how hard I laughed when Ingrge stoned the hydra?]

The creature then moves 40' back placing him 60' from the party.

"Bring it on heroes! Let's see who gets stoned this time!"

----------

Ok, here are the stats:

AC is 33.
If you move within 40' of the monster, you must make a Fort Save DC21 or be turned to stone, unless you take precautions.

If you Avert your eyes, by STATING in your post that you are avoiding looking at his eyes (looking at body, watching shadow, tracking it in a reflective surface, etc.) then you get a 50% chance not to have to make the saving throw if you move into his 40' range. You may roll that when you post if you decide to close within range.

If you use an action to put on a blindfold, close your eyes, or turn your back to it, then you do not have to make a save at all. However,
Hexortal will then gain TOTAL CONCEALMENT against you. [See MMp.309 if you want to see the Gaze (SU) description.]

Concealment is in the PHBp.152. You can't attack him, but may attack the square you think he is in. This equates to a 50% miss chance, which you may roll in your post if it applies. You can't execute an Attack of Opportunith against an opponent with total concealment.

I feel laying this out front doesn't make the combat easier for you in defeating your opponent. It does prevent all the confusion about rules that you wouldn't know about and lets you play in the Woldian way, which is handling all your business in your own post.

Well actually, I did keep a couple of secrets for fun. You'll see if you pop them.

I am done. It is now Emerald Dragon Initiative Round 1.

Lian (AC 35+1vsHex-2 for size, Hps 122, Bear End 5mins, Enlarge)  d20+19=37
Monday September 24th, 2007 12:42:25 PM

Deactivating boots.

Dodge on Hexortal.

"Should have saved the spell? Have another one of those Ingrge?"

The monk looks right at the beast and moves up 20 feet. (Fort save 37) "I think this beasty is just needing a loving shoulder. A firm hand." The elf smirks then laughs. "He doesn't look so bad. He's kinda cute."

"I'll be sure to slap your mom when I meet her for giving you such long, silly and pompous name. Hexortal?! Sounds like something I coughed up."

He retrieves a scroll from his pocket. Knowing he has speed to cover the distance, Lian casts Enlarge Person. There is no fear in the hand of Domi's voice or eyes.

Athalorn (Dire Bear Form, AC 17, HP 85/132)  d20+5=15
Monday September 24th, 2007 2:11:19 PM

The druid covers his face with a massive arm, to try and avoid the worst of the damage, but is too slow to keep from being cut by sharp staves of splintered wood. Blood dripping from his wounds, the druid gives a roar and begins a low growl, gesturing again with his arms. The dark sky above him crackles with energy, and the druid looks lost in his magic, calling for another ally to help them against this foe.

--------------------------

Reflex save 1d20+5=15 vs DC 26, take damage 47 hp
Full Round Action: Cast Summon Nature's Ally VII, Avoral (lose wind walk for spell)

Active Effects:
Lightning Storm
Bull's Strength

ooc: Jay, remember Lian has Bull's Strength too

Grawl (AC 17 (15 for this round) HP 58/105)  d20+9=24 d20+12=26 d20+19=27
Monday September 24th, 2007 2:25:06 PM

The dire bear tries to duck to avoid most of the damage from the shards of wood, but is caught by the explosion as badly as the druid. Reflex save 1d20+9=24. He gives a guttural roar, and before Athalorn has a chance to stop him, the bear charges the strange creature (if possible).

The bear is unaffected by the petrifying aura of the monster, Fort save 1d20+12=26 and tries to slice its foe with a claw as he approaches. However, Grawl's attack is unable to cut into the creature's thick hide.

----------------

Full Round Action: Charge enemy, attack 1d20+19+2 for charging = 29

Jerry, what size category is the monster?

Olana (HPs 44/68 AC25)  d20+19=31 d20+18=26 d20+13=33 d20+8=10 d8+2=6 d8+2=3 d8+2=10 d20+13=23
Monday September 24th, 2007 4:01:51 PM

Reflex Save DC 31

Olana winces as the other tree explodes and shards of wood come flying through the air. She manages to avoid the worst of it, although some slivers of wood still make their mark.

Shaking it off, she concentrates, staying out of its range and firing more arrows.

Blah. Only 1 hit for 3 HPs this round.

Milo (hp 113/113; AC 29 due to charge); haste  d20+14=28 d20+21=36 d4+4=6 2d6(4+4)=8
Monday September 24th, 2007 7:54:47 PM

Clicking the heels together on his boots of speed, Milo rushes the creature, "The HELL you say!!!" Striking at the basilisk, Milo throws off any attempts to turn him to stone.

OOC: Fort save DC 28; Hit AC 38 due to charge for 14 hit points damage. I'm assuming the creature isn't flat-footed.

Monday September 24th, 2007 8:32:59 PM

Bertram makes sure to avoid stepping to close to the creature and again calls Domi's fire down from the heavens to envelop the monster. He directs the fire towards the creatures rear to avoid hitting in of his fellow Talons.

(OOC FLAMESTRIKE 44hp Half Fire, Half Divine fire-no save on half)

Ingrge: AC 28: 102/102: Arcane sight, see invisibility, SR18  d20+16=31 d20+12=24 d20+15=26 3d6(2+4+5)+13=24
Monday September 24th, 2007 9:52:40 PM

(OOC, Jerry can you give us a size in length and height, as well as a idea of what the terrain under foot is like?)

Ingrge dives and rolls out and away from all the splinters (reflex save 31 + ring of evasion) and it doing so ends up partially behind a tree breaking the line of the beast's sight (Fortitude save 24).

Getting back up Ingrge calls back to the beast. So the best you can do is imitate a spell I just cast? How pathetic. Why don't you try this on for size; all the while quickly casting a spell. Finger of Death - SR26, Fortitude Save or Die. Fort DC 27, saves for 24 points damage

Gunther (SR 13, AC33, HP103/127) Delilah (AC20, HP25/72)  d20+8=27 d20+8=14
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 8:08:40 AM

Gunther growls as a few of the splinters make their way through his armor (Ref.-27). Averting his eyes from the monster, Gunther activates his armor and begins to fly. He manages to make it within striking range of the beast, but can't act this round.

The dire lion on the other hand gets a full face full of tree fragments (Ref.-14). Growling in pain, the big cat hisses malevolantly at the monster but does not make to attack.

Party Results for Round 1 [DM Jerry]  d20+25=44 2d8(2+2)+10=14 2d8(4+6)+10=20 d20+25=42 d20+19=37 d100=94 d20+14=23
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 12:46:43 PM

Lian throws preparatory spells and enlarges himself. Lian takes half damage [you didn't mention if you have evasion so I assume you took half.] [put changed stats under the line in your posts.]

Athalorn takes the damage from the splinters.[you have to actively say you're releasing the lightning, right?][Post basic stats for the Avoral. Make Avoral's moves a separate post please to keep it simple.]

As Grawl closes with Hexortal, the basilisk attacks with an attack of opportunity for greater reach. The AOO hits AC44, nearly a crit threat, for 14hpd.

Hexortal grunts, "Stupid little bear."

Grawl get hit with the full brunt of the splinters too. He charges in and charges; however, he misses. [my last post said he was LARGE in the description. Sorry if I hid it too much in the flavor text. ;)]

Olana takes half damage. She fires arrows. She hits once for 3hps. Her damage seems to be full from her +4 bow.

As Milo rushes forward, Hexortal bites at him as well, with a second Attack of Opportunity. He hits AC42 for 20hpd.

Milo finishes rushing forward and attacks hitting with his +3 short sword. Milo also seems to hit for full damage.

Brother Bertram casts his Flame Strike [Please list DCs for me. It saves me looking it up please. I could not find your DC on your character sheet. So I can't save vs. the spell yet. Please post that info for me. :) No worries. When you get a bit of time in the next two weeks, I need a character sheet done in Woldian form please. Thanks bud.]

Ingrge, survives the basilisk's attempt at stoning him, and returns the favor with a Finger of Death. His spell resist is beat. Fort save of 37 avoids the spell, but the basilisk takes some damage anyway.

Gunther flies and averts his eyes as he closes with the beast. [I'm rolling the 50% chance that Gunther has to save because he's averting his eyes. (see my last post) since he forgot. Odd is good for him. I rolled even. Gunther has to save. Now I'm rolling his save. I have his save at +14 for Fort. So here goes: [d20+14=23] He saves by 2. Gratz!]

---------

[Remember folks that if you're within 40' you have to do a 50% chance roll to see if you have to save vs. stoning. All in my last post friends. ;) I know, lots of information.]

Ok, Next post is the initiative of Hexortal so hold off the posting until I'm done please.

Hexortal Initiative Round 2 [DM Jerry]  20d8(6+8+8+8+6+6+6+5+6+2+4+8+5+2+6+4+6+7+6+8)=117
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 1:13:12 PM

Hexortal stands firm. It is 6' tall and 17' long. It was somewhat damaged by the last round, but still looks at those beyond his 40' automatic range to see what he should do.

He decides on a group attack. He flashes his eyes at all within 40 feet of him. Red light shines out burning the retinas of all close to him.

[Save Reflex DC27 (yep he has feats here) or take 117 points of heat [fire] damage and be blinded.

[If you save, you take half damage, but the "heat" remains for a round preventing evasion.]

[Averting your eyes gives you a 50% chance to avoid the blindness part of this supernatural ability.]
----------------------

[Remember to declare that you are averting your eyes each round that you choose to do so and then to make your 50% avoidance roll. If you fail, the averting didn't work and you have to save vs. petrification anyway.]

Good luck!

I am now done....finally.....with all posts, so you're free to post.

We now start Party Initiative Round 2.

Grawl (Er... Dead)  d20+9=26
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 1:45:40 PM

The bear roars in frustration, and is about attack again when the creature releases its burning energy. The bear is utterly consumed in the attack, its broken body destroyed. Reflex save vs DC 27 = 26 (on -59 Hit points. I think that's dead)

Athalorn (Dire Bear Form, AC 17, HP 85/132)  5d6(6+1+2+4+6)=19
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 1:47:55 PM

The druid opens his eyes as the growl calling his magic ends. He gestures near the creature, and an Avoral appears ready to do the druid's bidding, searching for the object of his aggression. He gasps in shock as he sees his new companion destroyed, an almighty bellow of anger coming from the druid.

In anger, Athalorn calls down from above, a claw bringing down a bolt of lightning from the swirling clouds, directing it to the spot where the creature stands.

The monk takes two massive swings. (Hits AC 33 and 23, baring hitting once for 21 damage, Blessed Hands breaks evil DR)

The monk is already on his way to death. No worries.

The summoned outsider searches for the target of Athalorn's fury, and finds the creature nearby. Fortitude save vs DC 21 = 22. Turning to ensure his lightning bolt doesn't affect the druid 's allies, he unleashes a bolt of lightning against the creature, energy cracking from his hands. He then moves to engage the beast in melee.

Severely injured, but unrelenting, Milo clicks his heels, steps into a flanking position opposite Gunther, and becomes a whirling dervish of death.

(OOC: Made save (DC 34) for half damage against the heat, and made (DC32) a 2nd save against turning to stone as well. With a full attack, Milo hits twice for 36 and 37 hps damage respectively. Total damage is 73 hps.)

Barely avoiding the beasts glare, Ingrge swears a bit as he feels a bit of the heat from the beast's fiery attack, Ingrge calls out to Bertram and then whips out a scroll (move action and casts the spell, targeting the area directly below the beast.

Olana remains further back, but still in ranged attack range.
"If the thing would stop squirming around," she mutters, firing again with her bow.

Missed all three. Time to think of something else. She looks for a way around the back of the creature.

The warrior manages to duck out of the way of the beam in the nick of time (Dex.=17, Hero pt. to reroll for 26, one more to make it the required 27....please oh pretty please Jerry :)

Grunting as the fire burns his arms and face, Gunther continues to focus on the creature's chunky body (averting eyes...55-success). Not willing to go down without a fight, the cat trainer launches strike after strike, but only manages to get one good solid blow in (Ac35 for 20).

The dire lion, in pain and bleeding massively stands her ground as she begins to lick her wounds. Though her bond with the human prevents her from following her instincts and bolting, she is smart enough to know not to attack the gargantuan monster in front of her. (I believe she is more than 40 feet away from the monster.)

OOC: Not sure if I needed the 50% chance vs. the blindess since I made my save on the Dex. If it's needed, got a 59 with is a success.

Player Results Round 2 [DM Jerry]  d20+12=22 d20=19
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 12:28:22 PM

The mighty Growl stops moving. Burned to a crisp. Tis a sad day indeed mighty reader!

Athalorn calls down lightning on the horrid beast! It crackles and smoke comes out from underneath Hexortal's armor. He screams in pain!

Mighty Lian then strikes at the demon beast and one strikes is true! Hexortal winces yet again.

Even more lightning strikes at the beast from the Avoral. He saves vs. this attack and takes half. There is now a distinct pink color to his armor and face.

Milo, then truly a whirling dervish, dishes out incredible damage to the beast, cutting and slicing so that pieces of armor go flying in all directions. Hexortal is now a wreck of a beast. How does it continue to stand?

Then Ingrge Monsterbane casts reverse gravity. Hexortal's screaming becomes constant as he falls upwards towards the sun. He tries to grab branches as he ascends (d20=19--gave him a natural 20 chance to grab. His feat are not conducive to such an action, but everyone deserves a remote chance) He grabs a branch! But the branch, already damaged in the explosion of the tree, gives way and he flies upward holding onto the branch reaching maximum height.

"No! No! No!" it screams.

Olana's arrows chase it as it falls upwards.

Gunther's strikes hit the air as Hexortal has flown upwards out of his reach. He uses his hero points to save himself.

Drops of blood float beside it as Hexortal's wounds continue to bleed.

Hexortal Initiative Round 3 [DM Jerry]
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 12:35:59 PM

Hexortal, knowing he is near death, and that it can't stand up to the fear in its heart to fall from that height, sighs and has but a moment to contemplate its freedom before a decision is made. A writhing of his body is seen from far below, then a rupture. Hexortal explodes sending out horizontally a rain of gore and blood. The reverse gravity keeps the gore high in the air.

----------

Combat is over.

xp is 867 for this battle.

Hero points to Ingrge and everyone that closed with the monster. Any others?

Athalorn
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 12:50:13 PM

Ignoring the falling blood, Athalorn changes back into human form, an angered expression om his face. He ignores his own wounds, and drops to his knees. All that time, all that work with Grawl to train and learn about him, burned away. He holds his head in his hands, and determines to continue on. He will find another companion, but not yet. Glannath had survived for many years, the bear for but a few weeks.

"Hexortal! Assassin for the Lord Nosopes, Pit Fiend ruler of Morbedzehiel, Castle of Torture in the Estates of Unrest! INDEED!" He snickers and winces, as his blistered skin cracks.

"Where's the bear?"

"Vere's the healer?"

He moves to his Delilah and pats her mane.

Gunther speaks with Delilah, "Yes, it hurts. We are both hurt." The dire lion growls and licks its splintered nose, trying to clear off tree fragments. Gunther helps to remove some of the larger deeper splinters.

A touch of a smile crosses Ingrge's lips as the Basalisk flies upward and then takes the coward's death, but that bit of a smile soon disapears as the pain of his burns comes back to the forefront as the adrenalin starts subsiding. Then almost as he were being slowly dipped into a cool refreshing pool, the elder elf begins to feel the cool healing powers of Domi and his Cleric start to sooth the burning fire from his skin Several moments later Ingrge strolls over to the dwarf and lays a hand on his shoulder in thanks.

Nosing Around [DM Jerry]
Thursday September 27th, 2007 7:26:24 AM

There is an evil taint in the remnant of these tree prisons. It could be the spells that kept the beasts in there for so long. It could be the evil of the beasts themselves. But the area around the trees cries out to Athalorn for healing.

As the party heals each other, the land also exults in the goodness of the act Brother Bertram performs. The writhing stops. A feeling of focused goodness seems to penetrate the area. It feels exactly like the night spent under the Ancient of Culverwood. No mind altering effects, just a healing process.

It is instinctive to perceive that this area of the forest is safe from all harm for a time.

The two priests thank the party for their protection and help the injured (Bertram, you can have all but one of your spells back. Let's say you used your 'second highest" healing spell only and the other two priests did the rest with your blessing and oversight.'

"Can we stop and rest here? I know we're close, but I'd like to go to Parnoth refreshed and well. I'd also like some time to clean up," says the Oathbinder of Pantheon.

As the group settles in for the night, two things happen.

First, there is a call on the ring. It is K'nara!

"Hey folks. I'm using Sturtavent's ring. All is well here. We've received our mission, and it is indeed important and something us girls have to do. We'll be fine. The task is not as dangerous as it is....sensitive in nature. So we'll be fine. Keep the faith friends!"

Second, near midnight, and shortly after the rise of the waning first moon, a low rumbling growl is heard. Something is nosing around the body of Growl.

The druid, although only having known Grawl a short time, mourns for his companion that evening. He sits alone, and prays to the Culverwood. He prays for his powers to be replenished (new spell list en route Jerry), and for protection from the strange new events, and in thanks for the new forest growth he has seen recently and for his protection thus far.

As the party notice the rumbling, the druid instantly stands from his rest, clutching his spear tightly in hand. He tries to let his human eyes adjust to the darkness, looking carefully at the area that Grawl was killed. Spot 34 Listen 42

Rising quickly he tries to see what is creating the disturbance.

"You all right?" she asks him quietly, concerned.

The whole monsters and tree business has her puzzled, but the fact that things felt a little strange while all that was going, and now the forest seemed quiet, well - perhaps they'd be forewarned in future.

She takes one of the watches. If she hears the noise, she'll go and investigate.

Musing silently for a moment, "It felt good to jab into that mouthy six-legged lizard though." Milo volunteers for a watch as well, hoping to get one along side Olana. The halfling is particularly alert to danger after the day's events.

Growling Again [DM Jerry]
Friday September 28th, 2007 8:00:10 AM

Those who are awake or awakened go to check out the sounds.

As you approach, there is a surprising sight. A large bear is nosing around the corpse of Growl. It turns and Growls, then returns to sniffing the corpse, intrigued.

Thoughts come to Athalorn.

::looks the same::
::smells the same::
::smaller though::

Then it turns to Athalorn sensing him for the first time.

::Master is that me?::

Athalorn recognizes Growl standing there besides his corpse. The same, but different too. More somehow.

[Trying to push forward friends.....so....]

The rest of the night is spent in mystery and rest. Soon the sun is rising and it is a glorious new day! Spells are refreshed, bodies healed.

The spell of the morning, is broke, however, when Ingrge and Olana's rings activate. Soon after, the other rings activate.

It is Valdor's voice.

"Sorry to bother ya folks. There is a problem though. Something peculiar just happened. Someone just used the "Dragonstone" near Emerald City and, uh,

"...communicated that the Consortium was needed because of a dragon attack. A Red Dragon is attacking a farm house, near the stone. We're just about to teleport to the future for awhile and so, can you guys handle this one?

"A red? Nikolai maybe?"

He turns to Ingrge. "Could be a trap produced by the Culverwood or the Ol' Green Lizard."

"Lets go!"

"I thought the Dragonstone WAS Valdor though. Or he just called that and there really is a stone? I can never remember."

Gunther [SUB JAY B]

"Yes Valdor, we will be there as soon as possible."

"Ok everyone slip the ring on and pass it around. "Athlorn is the bear coming with us? If so see if you can put that ring around his claw and pass it on we have a dragon to deal with."

"Spellcasters, have something ready for when we get there I don't want any hesitating.

Olanna, Bow at the ready and be ready to jump in when able and safe.

Who has the party wands that can be used for buffing. Stoneskin, haste etc. Lets get it done and ready and then I will put the ring on and we will see what we see."

Ingrge starts to concentrate on the dragonstone and the locale around it. Picturing it as he remebers seeing it last. Once the wands have been used he looks around at the others and slips the ring over his finger.
