The Doctor's Isle Revisited
Home Again

Homecoming (Sub DM Cayzle)
Thursday September 20th, 2007 8:27:26 PM

As directed by Captain Brahmah, the Eye of Gargul directs the ship's captain to set sail for Bridge Island.

The weather is perfect and it seems like no time before the ship sails into the harbor.

For newcomers (Kael, Mosushi?), the sight is charming and even familiar, even though you have never been here: a tidy, well organized little harbour dotted with maybe half a dozen small fishing boats and a cluster of buildings that rings the bay, and climbs up the side of a carefully terraced hillside. Hearthold Keep itself is at the top of the steep ridge. The view is deep verdant green, and nearly one third the keep is swathed in decorative vines.

Dunin, the human harbour master, welcomes you home at the dock.

[OOC: What I meant is that we will have the next five days or so of posts on Bridge Island, with no real threats to deal with. Please post your characters' actions. Train, gather info, pray, craft items, visit the Catacombs, maintain your gear, interact with Vern and with the residents of the village and the staff of the Keep.

For example, Brahmah mentioned the Woldian League of Adventurers. They have no presence in the Taur Isles, and that's a problem for the minotaur, since he needs training to gain his WLA benefits. Maybe Brahmah might send word or letters or magical message to the WLA to invite them to set up a branch in the Taur Isles, maybe even on Bridge Isle.

If you need other ideas on what to do, I suggest the venerable D&D standby -- go hang out in a tavern! Things always happen there!

The purpose of this interlude is to represent that adventurers are not on the go EVERY day of the year. Everybody needs some downtime. Otherwise you get the phenomena of 18-year-old epic level characters!]

Kael
Thursday September 20th, 2007 10:11:08 PM

[ooc: I understand the need for downtime, I'm just wondering if this is a break due to story needs, or due to technical issues.]

Winterglade
Friday September 21st, 2007 5:23:50 AM

Winterglade listens as Brahmah tells the story. "Yeah, he mercifully skipped the part about Winterglade leaving him unconscious on the mercy of that pair."

[Kael:] "And what is your plan for taking this doctor out?"

"The Doctor has a large mansion, a small palace really. Even if he evades us burning it down should remove his, what's the word? Power base? One can hardly imagine him sticking around when all he can return to are ashes. By the way, let's keep our motives clean, yes? No this talk of revenge, of avenging honor. He is a threat to lives of innocents and that is reason enough to deal with him, period."

[How many days did we spend on the ship?]

Flat-top
Friday September 21st, 2007 8:35:18 AM

Flat-top waves at the children on the dock, Yell at them "WE ARE BACK! JUST LIKE WE PROMESED!".

The children seeing the the Chosen are back, start to yell "They are Back! They are Back!" Some of the children run toward the boat, others run into towm.

Flat-top is the first to hit the dock, The children want to help them with their equipment, they follow them all the way to the Keep. "Thank you all for helping me,children! I'll be back after I unpack in my room and then We'll have some fun."

He opens the frount door, he'enters into the big Hall, to the right is where the servants housed, the blacksmith and the guards are housed. In the big hall is the Altar where the Heart of Domi was, here he says a small prayer "Domi, the children are safe, as you wanted."

To the left are the doors to the bedchambers of the Chosem and the dinningroom. he enters the hall of ten door, he heads for, the third one on the right, once in there he put his gear down (any where) and flops down on his bed of soft hay dropping of to sleep. . .

Brahmah
Friday September 21st, 2007 10:07:33 AM

Seeing Dunin, the taur is instantly swept into thoughts of this harbor master and his knowledge of ships and cargo.
He grasps the master's arm in greeting and then proceeds to tell an... abridged version of the Chosen's adventure with the hunters and the ship.
He details the days they were on the island with the doctor and then tells of the hunters.
"What ship captains do you know that would transport an owlbear?!" He avoids certain sensitive details to avoid strange questions.
He will ask Dunin what he might know of a band of assassins or hired 'skilled' thugs or hunters hiring out ships, no questions asked, transporting to the outer islands.
This questioning takes the better part of the first day back.

On the second and third days he tries to find communication, preferably magical, to send a message to the WLA and even if possible, to get word of the children.

Day four, exercise and relaxation.

Day five, get responses from his inquiries of the WLA and children or possibly Catacombs.

Brahmah
Friday September 21st, 2007 10:11:21 AM

oh yes, one last thing...

...when sending word to the WLA, he mentions, yet a second time, about his missing and stolen badge. He still needs a replacement.

Zeoll
Friday September 21st, 2007 6:27:30 PM

The liontaur delights in being back home. He spends a day just catching up with old and new friends. He wanders the village telling the children how much they have grown. He sees Flat-top playing, and he smiles. It makes him think about the Unitaur children. He wonders if it would be safe to bring them home now.

He settles in to his room at the keep, and joins Flat-top at prayers. He makes sure to introduce the newer members of the Chosen to the staff, and to see that they too get rooms of their own.

The next week or so sees Zeoll making a new magic item: A ring of Invisibility.

On Bridge Island (Sub DM Cayzle)
Friday September 21st, 2007 6:29:58 PM

Winterglade adds a moral note to the anger the Chosen feel toward the kidnapper doctor.

Flat-top feels the burden of the quest slip off him, and he is quick to find kids for play and the chapel for prayer. The children of the village love him, and he has a fine time. One or two of the parents keep an eye on the rough-housing, but soon they realize that Flat-top is as gentle as a lamb with the little ones. One village mom invites Flat-top to come over for dinner one night. "I make a great apple cobbler," she tells Flat-top.

Brahmah asks the harbor master, Dunin, about ships that might carry cargo the Doctor prefers. He says that the centaur and minotaur ship captains are full of honor and would not carry such cargo. But the liontaurs would do it for the right price, and so would certain shady human captains, especially those sailing out of Osto.

Brahmah thinks about contacting the WLA, and what it would take. He wishes he had a magic means of communication. Maybe if he asked one of his spellcaster friends? One of them might have an idea. Or a clerk at the Catacombs, it occurs to the ranger, would be able to suggest a magical means of sending a message.

[OOC: Brahmah, I'll need more detail on how you will use magic to reach the WLA ... and to whom you send your message, how, and where? Who were the officers who inducted Brahmah? And where were they based?]

Zeoll enjoys being home, and works on craftign a magic item.

The other Chosen relax quietly, glad to be home.

================

[OOC: Kael, I guess this is both for story and for mechanical necessity. The Chosen have just completed a quest that has taken years. Literally. We started this Black Sword story arc in October 2004. And been on the go the whole time. After all that, the players and the characters deserve a vacation. At the same time, we are lining up a new DM(s) to take over for Donna ... maybe for weeks, months, or permanently. This makes a good break for them to use to learn and enter the game.

Winterglade, you asked about days spent on the boat. Maybe it was a few days, maybe a week. I was vague on purpose. This is a vacation, people! Take the time you need in character to do what you want. Time is not a limiting factor. Feel free to make things or pick up a hobby or play with colts and cubs or relax in wahtever way your hearts desire. After three years on the go, you earned it!]

Winterglade
Saturday September 22nd, 2007 5:39:42 AM

The centaur steps off the deck and turns his back to the sea. "And good riddance!" Not being one of the old members of the group he still feels a little strange on this small island. He wanders a bit around the keep, poking about, and finally settles in a small garden surrounded by an old wall - one of the few places on the island where one can't see the sea. For the next few days he is rarely seen, quietly going about his business.

Moshushi
Saturday September 22nd, 2007 12:22:49 PM

OOC:Moshushi has been here briefly, i believe.

Mosh spends a few days off exploring the island more. He's not the city loving sort, so some time spent camping makes him more relaxed. He'll be back every few days, working on scribing a few scrolls (comprehend languages, invisibility, silenced sleep, dispel magic). After a week or so, he'll probably move in with the rest.

He's not antisocial, so he's fine with others joining him, and is interested in meeting other taurs who live here full time. If anyone else needs his assistance, it's gladly offered (particularly if Kael brews up too much ale and needs it disposed of)

Brahmah
Saturday September 22nd, 2007 6:53:15 PM

[Brahmah was initiated as journeyman into the WLA in Plateau City by Commander Gaylon Arafel, in South Harbor I believe. (040306)]

"Is there an WLA outpost in Osto?" He asks Dunin.
Highlight to display spoiler: {(Cayzle ~ As part of his duties as WLA member, his oath was to eliminate evil and protect the innocent. Brahmah will certainly tell the commander of Flat-top's actions in the destruction of the sword.)}

(OOC: Yes, Kael, it has been a LOOooNG quest.)

Flat-top
Sunday September 23rd, 2007 8:08:50 AM

OOC: Remember, Brahmah, Flat-top is a member in Good Standing in WLA, too!

Flat-top buy's a few rubber balls and a few dolls for the childern in the hospital, to cheer them up, but exeit fast when he learns thar the children have either the Hooping Cough or the Black Measel.

Flat-top tell the children that the'll get a centaur ride as soon as they get out of the hospital, "WoooH! That was closed!"

Flaltop is off to visit the Quary, "Just nosy." he tell the workers. Then he off the the keep for dinner, He is bringing back four PIES (two apple, one blueberry and One mimce meat.)

"Look what I have here PIES, and one for Heyou.!" He tell all. But all thgether He had a very good Day.

Winterglade
Sunday September 23rd, 2007 9:00:40 AM

Winterglade has been absent all day but somehow managed to show up just in time to grab a large wedge of a pie.

"Winterglade has been busying himself with some needlework. Good thing there is a Catacombs outpost here, he will be using it soon."

"So, are we going to have a plan on dealing with the Doctor? Just sailing up to his island and blundering along until he decides to face us on his own terms doesn't work very well. We know from personal experience."

[It will take Winterglade 26 days to finish all his crafting projects (6 cloaks, 2 vestments), but I would like to handle Catacombs visit now if possible to be ready before next module starts. Would that be acceptable?]

Flat-top
Monday September 24th, 2007 7:48:01 AM

Flat-top is off to check the sea coast, just to see if there's damages was done by the High Cleric's army. But in just a few places, "I wish they would be more careful with their Hooves and Paws!" Flat-top tell himself.

As the centaur checks the coast line, the children come along and splashes the centaur, Flat-top splashes back.
After a good soaking, Flat-top buy ice cream for the children.

Now back at the dinner table, Flat-top put in his two copper pices as to how to enter the Evil Doctor. "Why not enter the back way into his library?? You know the back of the house?"

Flat-top will listen and he eats his fresh bake apple pie.

Gecktar
Monday September 24th, 2007 11:02:02 AM

Gecktar is happy to get back home. He is glad to have time to attend the Hearthold Keep.

His first thougths are for Ginal that stayed at the temple. He goes to meet her and learn what happened during their trip.

He will stay some time in prayer and meditation to revere Domi.

Next day will be scheluded almost the same. He wakes up very early in the morning (he only needs two hours of sleep).

He takes some time in the temple praying Domi and attending the chapel, cleaning all what needs to be, preparing everything for the office.

The second time in his typical day is the breakfast with all his friends. This is a time of pure pleasure talking about what every other do and want to do. Well in one word chatting.

Next he will work on his the vestment he intend to craft. Taking some time to have a meal in the middle of the work of each day.

Then comes free time until the end of the day. He will work on the Keep to attend it, taking time to have a walk with Glade, following Flat-Top at the hospital to help cure those suffering disease or wounds. He will offer all those needing it his services for crafting items if they need it.

Next come the diner. Another moment of relaxation with all Chosen present and of course the staff of the Keep.

Then comes the time for meditation and art. If Zeoll or Toros offer performance he will never miss one of them, also listening for those telling tales or poetics.

A last passage to the temple will end his day before resting a couple hours.

Kael
Monday September 24th, 2007 12:41:02 PM

Kael disembarks from the ship, his new friends seem to have business in town, so he decides to hit the tavern and see if he can sell some brew.

The ranger goes about his business.

Time Passes at Home. (Sub DM Cayzle)
Monday September 24th, 2007 3:35:12 PM

[OOC: Each Chosen gains 1,000 xp for the small advenrture just past. See my e-mail message.]

Winterglade searches for a private place on the island. He discovers what the old-hands among the Chosen already know. The island is a raised plateau that juts sharply from the sea, but a ribbon of land and beach encircles the plateau. The rising plateau makes a cliff -- the cliff atop which the Hearthold Keep is built. The only way onto the cliff, short of a steep climb or flying, is through the Keep.

Winterglade, and anyone else who enters the Keep, walks from the dock through the town, then up a steep slope to the Keep gates. If you then go out the back door of the Keep, past the Holy Grotto, you will find the park-like grounds, large pond, and orchards that make up the back yard. The back yard is surrounded by a hedge, and beyond the hedge, the jungle atop the plateau is lush and well-stocked with game, including some miniature versions of larger game animals found otherwise only on the continent.

[OOC: I really have to bring it up to date, since the current staff is almost entirely turned over, but please feel free to view Bridge Isle and Hearthold Keep on my Web site.]

Maybe Winterglade finds the gazebo or some other place in the back yard to suit his liking. Or maybe deeper in the jungle he finds his small wild garden and a fragment of a stone wall. Either way, he is glad to be on dry land, and busy -- he spends a lot of time making magic garments.

Zeoll is busy too. He puts the keep forge to good use, and crafts a magic ring of invisibility.

Mosushi explores the inner jungle atop the plateau, and well as the coastal flats and beaches that ring the island. Maybe he enjoys the peaceful surf washing the mangrove stands on the north side of the island. Or watches the fishers who go out daily in their little one-taur boats. He finds time to craft some scrolls as well ... and he takes his time finding a room to his liking in the Keep itself.

Brahmah and Flat-top think about how to contact the WLA. They think about the officers who swore them in -- in far away New Elenna. They wonder about other bases.

Brahmah thinks there might be a WLA outpost in Fargunia, and there is certainly one in Osto. The harbormaster says that a Fargunian merchant comes through once a month or so. But few merchants will sail around the Cursed Swamp to Osto; more often, traffic from the Taur Isles to Osto would go overland from Fargunia.

Brahmah would like to make a report to the WLA officers he knows, but how to reach them? Letters are slow and subject to intrusion. Maybe there is a magic solution?

Flat-top spends his time with the village children. He makes toys for them, He visits artisans, and shares with the kids. It is easy to spend days like this! But the safety-minded Flat-top also inspects the island's defenses, and makes some good suggestions. Flat-top, Please Highlight to display spoiler: {The chldren tell you a story of fairy ghosts that haunt the bay at sunset.}

Gecktar meets old friends and spends some time in prayer. He finds that the chapel to Domi is calming and peaceful. He spends time on a magic vestment.

[OOC to Gecktar: I'm sorry, but who is "Ginal"? Sorry I don't remember.]

Kael visits the village tavern and soon becomes friends with the innkeeper, Like others of his fellow Chosen, Kael spends some times making magic items, although magic drinks are a better way to describe his brewing. Kael, Please Highlight to display spoiler: {The master of the tavern tells you that he heard a rumor of magical voices singing at sunset in the bay last night.}

[OOC to Kael: You can use the xp your PC started with, and the 1,000 xp you just got, for item creation.]

Moshushi
Monday September 24th, 2007 5:17:20 PM

More adventures should involve time spent on the beach

Winterglade
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 5:23:30 AM

Winterglade finally notices Brahmah's plight. "You want to contact WLA, no? Winterglade can help you with that tomorrow. Fortunately he accompanied you to your initiation ceremony and remembers this fellow, Commander Gaylon, quite well."

Next day the centaur prepares to use Sending twice. "Come now. Winterglade will relay your message. Only 25 words, though, so choose them wisely. We will have a response from him immediately if he chooses to give it, and then we'll see if we need to repeat the ritual. After that, if anything else needs clarifying, they can contact you with the magic of their own." [Sending transmits up to 25 words to the chosen person immediately if he is on the same plane. The receiver can immediately respond with up to 25 words.]

Flat-top
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 9:09:52 AM

Flat-top wakes and clean his room before going to breakfast, At the table he tell his comanions, "I was talking to the Little one in the village, they tell me about the Fairies Ghost haunting in Bay area at sunset? the children are not lying, they are afraid. So Who will like to a company me to see a ghost faries at son set?"

(Is Ginal the Cleric/Teacher who educate the Children in the village?? She teaches in the Great hall where the altar is?)

DM Cayzle -

He waits for an answer, "If your too busy I'll go alone? I'm going to check the bay out in day light, then I'll go tonight and nozy around!"

Zeoll
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 11:00:07 AM

Zeoll is glad to be done with his ring of invisibility, and shows it off to his friends. He volunteers to go with Flat-top tonight, but he will stay invisible as a safety reserve.

But tomorrow he will be going on a retreat. He has some meditation to do, and he hopes to find enlightenment in a solitary pilgrimage.

Kael
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 12:24:09 PM

Kael is intrigued by these voices and when the day is through he decides that head over to the bay and see if the voices return.

Brahmah
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 2:04:09 PM

"Glade, yes, please?! Just say, Journeyman Brahmah of Chosen, reporting. Badge stolen months back. Need replacement. Badge with elven assassin or hunter. Possible infultrator. More to follow.... sir."

"Would it be possible to send a reply if he has questions Glade? Can the spell be prepared many times today?"

Gecktar
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 5:06:23 PM

Today, Gecktar makes a turn around the keep and sees that some efforts can be made to strngthen the structure. He memorizes as much stone shape spell he can and looks in the harbor for one that he could call an architect.

His goal is to pay the architect to tell him where structre is to be strengthen, where they should work to attend and to repair.
He notes everything the architect will say for further use and instructions to the staff of the keep.

OOC : Ginal is the priestess in charge of the temple. She was introduced last time we come back to the keep. I don't even know if she is a taur or human :(
I will be looking for more info

Moshushi
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 6:25:32 PM

"Ghost Faeries? I'm not too busy for that." Plans to head to the bay

Toros - Tunc
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 9:30:21 PM

Dear All,
sorry that I have not been able to post
since last week I am moving where I stay
it will take a while to settle down,
meanwhile have fun @ Chosen's home!

The Ghostly Fairies (Sub DM Cayzle)
Tuesday September 25th, 2007 10:48:15 PM

Clarifications: Yes, Ginal is the priestess of the Keep. And Dunin, the Harbor Master, is a female.

Brahmah and Winterglade work together to get a message to the WLA. Brahmah wants to report his news. However, to gain your WLA skill ranks, you have to train at a WLA facility -- so how are Flat-top and Brahmah going to get trained?

But there IS an answer to Brahmah's and Glade's Sending: "Report to a WLA outpost for badge replacement. Note HQ is in Isumbre in Zarthmoor. Please send description, name, sketch of thief if possible."

Flat-top and Kael are interested in reports of strange voices, and they check it out. Zeoll and Mosushi go too.

Gecktar looks over the Keep and its defenses. He finds that it is reasonably well defended by Captain Borus and his lieutenants, Trinl and Upthel. Certainly, Stone Shape spells used to smooth walls will make it harder to climb them. But to get a true architect of fortifications, Gecktar will have to go to another island -- Minotaur Isle would surely have such experts on it, Gecktar is sure. Would one come here? Who knows!

Four Taurs go to the bay, and come the sunset, a swan flies down and lands in the water. It speaks! "Hail Heroes! If you would hark to the tale of Lord Ebryon's Reformation, then return at dawn for the Truth!" The magical bird flies away.

Winterglade
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 4:15:02 AM

"Winterglade can use this power up to three times per day. But now that they requested an essay and a drawing from you, it might be better to visit the Catacombs and spend 300 gold to get a Feather Token: Bird."

"Actually, you could get two and send one over together with your message. Maybe this way they can send your badge back." [this would be stretching the capabilities of the Feather Token a bit - normally it can carry only a written message, so it would work only if the DM allows it. Also, maybe the DM would allow this small purchase to be made without going through the Catacombs.]

"Or you could inquire if somebody isn't available to teleport in with your badge. It's your choice. Winterglade will help with more Sendings if you need them."

The centaur, intrigued by the description of the swan, is happy to be at the beach at dawn.

Flat-top
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 8:24:55 AM

Flat-top Is taken back at a speaking Swan?? He turns to his Mates, "Did you see that Speaking Swan? I think that swan wanted to talk to us Chosen? I'll be back here at Dawn! If I'm not eating breackfast, knock on my door."

"I think this is very importent. I wonder if this has anything to do with the Doctor on that island?" Flat-top is talking mostly to himself.

At dawm Flat-top is there eating an apple, Waiting.

Kael
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 11:31:54 AM

"I think this doctor is a bit of an obsession among the chosen." Kael puff casually on his pipe. "Unless his name was Lord Ebryon I don't see how you could associate the two?"

Kael gets up from his seat, "I guess we shall return at dawn. Best we get some rest before then."

Brahmah
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 2:27:37 PM

(OOC: As he has not yet leveled, Brahmah can not get skill point in WLA stuff.)

Brahmah notes what he remembers..."Behind the bearhound, for just a moment, there appears to be a medium sized humanoid, bow in hand, two arrows held in the other. Dressed in shades of green and brown, his exact position is difficult to pinpoint as he blends in so nearly perfectly with the surrounding vegetation."

Thats all the details he can remember as a mere 30 seconds later he was walking into the Gargul's waiting arms and was yanked back. His gear strewn all over the place, $10k plus worth of gear gone, but all three Chosen survived.

Brahmah asks Winterglade if he can remember anything of importance about the hunters.

Brahmah
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 2:29:18 PM

Oh yes, and the bearhound was VERY intelligent.

Gecktar
Wednesday September 26th, 2007 6:21:08 PM

Gecktar really wishes to getto the minotaur's Isle to get an architect back to study the Keep.
But tomorrow will be another day. He is intrigued by the report of other Chosen that have seen a talking swan.

Who could be this Lord Ebryon. If something is to learn at dawn Gecktar will be present.

At Dawn (Sub DM Cayzle)
Thursday September 27th, 2007 12:44:05 AM

Those of the Chosen who end up at the shore at dawn enjoy a rare treat indeed. As the sun rises, you hear a chorus of fey voices singing. You cannot see the singers, but the sound is complex, light, beautiful. It makes you think of rivers and wind and rain.

In the dawn light, the swan returns, but this time the swan has a rider ... a small man dressed in green. The swan cries out, "Hail! Hail, mortals, the Pixie Lord!"

The little man hops off the swan and walks on the water to meet you. "Hee hee," he laughs, "No need for formalities! I'm just a friend of the King is all. We won't stand on titles."

You see that a circle of butterflies flutter around his head.

"I won't dwell on your title, and you won't dwell on mine, eh? Enough to know that you are Mortal Heroes. The kind that asked the Fey King to Reform. Well, he has! He has indeed!"

The small man mutters, then, more softly, "At least it seems like he has. He asked me to tell you all that he is reformed and good and kind to mortals and all that. Let me see him in a couple centuries and then we'll know if THAT's true!"

"So consider yourselves told! That's why I'm here! That's the message! Be nice to the Fey King, because he's a friend to you!"

Now, I got other mortals to visit! So darn many of you! You breed like mice! What else?"

The swan honks.

"OH yeah, the story, the Story. Fine get it over with! Here you go!"

He takes a deep breath and tells you a story. You can read it here.

[OOC: Also note the following additions to the Wold:

Immortal Powers
Votary Clerics who honor them (scroll to middle)
New House Rules (Scroll to bottom!)

Send your questions to cayzle@cayzle.com or go to the Rules Board]

"Well!" the Pixie Lord exclaims. "That's that! Just to set the record straight! Any questions?"

Winterglade
Thursday September 27th, 2007 4:49:19 AM

[Small man:] "But he [Jericho] also made heavy dwarves, stinking humans, foul orcs, and worse [...] Then the biggest insult - elevating mere mortals to gods! The Jericho's pets - Alemi and the others - had no right to be put so high!"

Winterglade glances at Gecktar. Then he glances at Gecktar again. Finally he sighs. Such bitterness... It is bad when mortals act like gods, but when gods start act like mortals it is much, much worse.

Much later, he returns with Brahmah to the memory of those dreadful moments on in the jungle. "Yes, well. Even though he knows he couldn't have helped if he stayed, Winterglade still feels shame over running away and leaving you behind. Let him see what else he can add... The two referred to us as abominations, conjured by dark magic, so it is possible that we were the first Taurs they have ever seen. This would suggest that they were not from the Taur Isles. Second important thing is they didn't kill me or you, even though they had us in their power, so no matter how ill we may think of them, they are not bloodthirsty murderers. Third, the archer at one moment said something to the bear creature, let me see... Far Rahedan? If we are lucky, Rahedan might be the name of the big one, but maybe it's just something in a strange tongue?" Winterglade channels a bit of his energy and tries to figure out the meaning of these words. [casting Comprehend Languages and then having somebody say these two words aloud (the archer said that to the bear man and then the bear man pinned Winterglade). What does "Far Rahedan" mean?]

"Fourthly... Rock! We forgot all about him! They took him with them as a prisoner. Is he still alive? Why haven't we bothered to check before?" Winterglade tries to contact Rock through Sending. "Rock, it's the Chosen. Where are you? Who captured you? Are you free now?"

Flat-top tell the little Man, "Yeah! What ever Winter glade said! Wait a minute? Rock? I have not heard from him in a long time. That giant is a prisoner? Where?

I'll go and sent him free! He's one friend I would never like to lose, the last time I heard any news from HIM, Rock had Help a bunch of people called the Children of Chaos! now he's a prisoner?"

Flat-top turns his back to the Swan and his pasenger. To ask his fellow team mates, "Can the Dear Doctor wait, so we can help A dear friend who needs help?"

Gecktar
Thursday September 27th, 2007 11:15:43 AM

Gecktar don't even reacts at the words of the pixie about the right of Alemi and others to be Gods. His faith in Domi is so firm that the question is in itself absurd to even suggest that Domi hasn't the right to be a God.

After the tale of the pixie, Gecktar remember rock at the mention of Glade.

"Yes indeed, he was prisonier. And by memory of Chosen this was the first time we let one go without trying to get him back.

But Rock wasn't really sure in his choice of being a Chosen and definitively joining us... This is the reason why I guess we didn't follow him..."

Information overload. The ranger sits down and cradles his head in his hands.
"Whoa."

The story. Rock. Memories. All flood back. The poor minotaur looks like a school boy whose been put in a corner. Minus the dunce cap.

"Wow. In the haste, I forgot Rock. He's been missing for a very long time and is likely dead. He quite possibly was a 'plant' or 'spy' anyway. To come and go so fast?!"

The liontaur sits, stunned at the incredible story.

The Fey Depart (Sub DM Cayzle)
Thursday September 27th, 2007 11:42:40 PM

The Pixie Lord laughs and laughs. "Oh you mortals! I'll never understand you! An immortal noble fey comes by to spread good cheer, and you're all 'Hey, where's that friend of ours we lost a couple months ago!' Bless your crazy hearts!"

"No quesitons, so, by-by!"

The chorus of fey voices swells, and the Pixie Lord floats off on his magic swan.

Winterglade tries to contact the lost Rock, but the spell does not work. Maybe blocked? Maybe worse? There's no telling.

Winterglade
Friday September 28th, 2007 5:18:42 AM

Winterglade watches the magic swan fly away, wondering if not having asked questions is going to one day bite the group in the tail. "Look, Winterglade bets he didn't appear just because he was in a chatty mood. There was a reason why he told you, of all Taurs, these things. It would do you good to keep all that in mind for future reference."

The failure to communicate with Rock sends unpleasant cold needles up Winterglade's spine. "Oh, this is bad. He doesn't want to answer, or he's on another plane of existence, or he's dead. The only excuse Winterglade has for not trying to reach him earlier is that, at the time, he was incapable of using such powers. Still, Rock took with him one of Winterglade's platinium rings. We could scry on that and find either him, his captors, or his grave. Oh, and Flat-top, Winterglade thinks you have some other Rock in mind. Winterglade's talking about the hornhead mage who joined us on the Doctor's island."

[Did Comprehend Languages reveal any information on the meaning of the words "Far Rahedan"?]

Flat-top
Friday September 28th, 2007 9:18:47 AM

I remember him now, he needs help huh! Well then I'm ready to help any want-to-Become a Chosen. I'm game! Let's go help him!" the Doctor will wait for now.

Brahmah
Friday September 28th, 2007 11:04:41 AM

"Yes Flat-top, Rock. He showed up on the island and then disappeared just as fast. I think we were with him for a couple of days.

Maybe he was captured?"

"Can anyone ask a question of Domi? This Far Rahedan thing might be a clue."

"We should head to Osto I think."

Zeoll

Zeoll is still pondering the idea of calling fey to help one out. But then he realizes what the others are talking about.

"Z, my friend, I don't think the doctor is there anymore. Besides, I think the hunter is, at the moment, most important. He has a journeyman badge of the WLA, the magic map and has the means to use both."

"I agree that the doctor is important too, but if we found him, would he give the information to us or would we simply take it? His base could be more heavily fortified now. He knows taurs have means of escape after all."

"I suppose that it could be possible that the information is still in his office. But I truly think, with all respect, that he isn't the issue at the moment."

He sighs. "Okay. Seems once again that the Chosen are at a stand still. We are democratic and for Domi first.
We will take a VOTE! We haven't voted for awhile, so lets recap."

He removes his helmet and takes out a quill and parchment. Tears the parchment into enough portions for the equal number of Chosen and scribbles his vote onto the first piece. Folds it and puts it into the helm.
"Now, we all put our decisions into the helm anonomously and count votes. When all our votes are counted, we take that mission, regardless. Captain or not."

"What arre the choices forr the vote?"

Brahmah
Saturday September 29th, 2007 1:56:01 AM

"Our options seem to stand thus..."

1) Return to the island and begin there.

2) Stay at Bridge Isle until something more obvious presents itself.

3) Go to Osto/Fargunia and seek the ship which the hunters might be using. While there look into cargoes which might be getting shipped to the Doctors Island.

4) Research the term Far Rahedan. Then move on from there. See where that takes us.

5) Any other options not considered here.

"Clear?"

Oh yes, if the opportunity comes up, scry or divine for Rock I think. If he was still alive and interested in the Chosen, I think he'd make an effort to contact us."

[Mosushi:] "I'm not sure how wise it is to trust in the theology of birds or the counsel of fae."

"Nowadays every god has his own story it seems. Maybe that is why my tribe has always stood away from major religious movements."

[Brahmah:] "If we find information about the next part of our mission, Glade will send word. Yes?"

"Of course, of course! Assuming he's alive by that time, that is." Winterglade writes up his choice on the scrap of paper and puts it in the helm. [Winterglade's vote: Highlight to display spoiler: {<Go to Doctor's Island>}]

Last Chances (Sub DM Cayzle)
Tuesday October 2nd, 2007 12:16:14 AM

Brahmah thinks the group should go and out about the Doctor and the Hunter by gathering info from those who know them in nearby places. Osto, for example. Gecktar and Flat-top agree with this.

Mosushi thinks the party should go straight to the Doctor's isle. So does Winterglade.

Zeoll does not vote. He goes tot he center of Bridge Isle to meditate.

One last chance to hear from Kael and Toros ...

Also -- last chance to visit the Catacombs, etc.

Toros-Tunc
Tuesday October 2nd, 2007 2:09:27 AM

OOC:

As the Chosen have completed an important adventure, I guess it is a good time for Toros to take a break, before starting the new adventure.

Many thanks for all, it has been a pleasure, and look forward to meeting with you again soon, after a certain walkabout.

IC:

Before the group is ready and leaves, Toros tells his friends that he needs some time before moving on, as he feels. The wemic wishes farewell to the Chosen. He quickly hides some small drops of emotion from careful eyes.

"Good luck my friends, and may Domi's blessing be with you!"

Winterglade

Then Zeoll heads for the Healed Heart at the center of the Keep. He kneels and prays for a long time. Mostly he tries to become attuned to the heart. To the rhythm he feels in it. To the link it has to his god. Finally, Zeoll prays in his native tongue.

Great Tomi, you have been my guide for my whole life. Now I seek your guidance once again. Please lead me to the path of enlightenment. Please inspire in me your holy knowledge of the direction to go.

After a while more, Zeoll leaves the chapel, and heads out through the back door, deeper into the island, onto the central plateau.

Future Plans (Sub DM Cayzle)
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 12:12:13 AM

[OOC: Although the new DMs start on Monday, I will try to give engaging things to do -- or questions to answer -- with each post until then.

If you don't feel engaged, feel free to use your leisure. Talk with NPCs. Create something. Investigate. Advance the plot.]

It seems that a plurality of the group wants to head for nearby ports to find news of the Doctor's sources of supply. What is it that you seek to find? How do you intend to get there? What is your plan for getting it?

Meanwhile, it is farewell to an old friend. The group offers good byes to Toros.

Winterglade
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 5:10:24 AM

The centaur does not look very pleased that the group is planning a detour instead of striking at the Doctor straight away. "Can somebody explain to Winterglade where exatly you plan going and how it will advance our effort to stop that man? Exactly what are we hoping to find in Osto? Besides, Winterglade is sure that our presence there and asking around about Mauroth will come to his ears sooner than we arrive on his island. By letting our intentions be known we give up the element of surprise."

Flat-top
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 9:01:16 AM

Brahmah OOC
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 1:02:38 PM

OOC: Kael, I wasn't implying the lack-lust posting is entirely you. Even seasoned Chosen miss now an then.
As for dependability and being under-manned! Its been a continuous issue with the Chosen, and as you are new, I wouldn't expect you to know this, that is why I'm mentioning it now. :)
We have openings for 9 taurs, 3 each, and as I am sure your able to tell, we're missing two players now. Sure, we've been down to 5 players once that I can remember.
When you came to us, the hole you filled had been empty for nearly a year or more! We are grateful!
As for breaking in newbies, your right, they need it, but as we ARE just sitting in town, now is the PERFECT time to bring in new blood. At the beginning of a new module is good timing. The DM can even write them in!

Brahmah
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 1:14:05 PM

"We would have two things for the Osto route. First, we can deliver a sketch of our assailant hunter and his bearhound to the WLA outpost while I get my new badge. And second, by going there, there are several ships that might carry questionable gear to the island.

By going there and mention we're supplying more security for the doctor or even going there on a hunting trip for an employer, we can possibly get a free ride on the Doctor's bill.
At the very least, we can pay for teleportation from there to avoid further sea travel.
I think the Doctor may be off his island now anyway. Maybe moving to a different island.
Besides, we can't really be clear on which island it truly was.
Also, if the hunter returned to mainland, he likely did it via Osto and sold his plunder there. The map might be there too."

"Any of that unclear now?" He smirks. "What else is there? I understand about the surprise factor, but that isn't whats important, getting information about Mauroth and his supplies is key to clearing out his menace."

Zeoll

Information (Sub DM Cayzle)
Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 10:33:13 PM

As the Chosen discuss what to do, Gecktar suggests getting more information, maybe via divination. Gecktar, what question will you ask?

It does seem to the minotaur that seeking Domi's advice might be useful.

[OOC: Guys, you can DO a lots of things, but you have to actually say that you are doing them! Go ask an NPC for advice, or cast a divination, or use a gather info check, or read a book, or something! Give your poor DM a hook! If all you do is sit around and talk to each other, how can I answer any questions!]

Winterglade
Thursday October 4th, 2007 5:54:08 AM

[Flat-Top:] "Beside He's got our Map!"

"Flat-Top, for all we know it was the hunters who took the map with them, together with Brahmah's gear. They left the island with Rock in tow without coming back to Mauroth's palace."

[Brahmah:] "I think the Doctor may be off his island now anyway. Maybe moving to a different island."

"This is possible, but it's not likely he took that huge palace with him. It looked like his main base of operations. Even if he's somewhere else taking it out would leave him without supplies."

[Mosushi:] "Glade, if we're willing to follow Brahmah into danger, we should probably trust his judgment now."

"Ah, you see, Winterglade doesn't because he can't. He's a centaur, Brahmah is a minotaur. We will never think in the same way. Mainly because <tactical withdrawal> is not in the hornhead language. Winterglade has seen many members of this group expose themselves to mortal danger that could have been avoided if our actions have been more cohesive. By some miracle nobody died because of this, but it is only a matter of time before somebody does."

[Brahmah:] "Glade, what does your idea involve?"

"Hmm, how very wise of you to ask for advice from Winterglade. Flat-top is right in one thing, the man is dangerous. If he is aware that we are coming to get him he will make it impossible for us to capture him. If centaurs were running this raid, we would have had a ship sail by the doctor's island and Waterwalked to the shore at night. There we would scout out the mansion through invisible familiars to figure out if the doctor is home and who else is with him. We would make our move at night, probably trying to subdue him by a Silence, tanglefoot bags, and debiliating poison. The plan would get adjusted according to all new details that we would uncover. At the very least, if we were discovered, we would have burned down the mansion in the morning. This would be a centaur's way of handling this thing - as efficient and fail-safe as possible."

"Still, it is not Winterglade who is in charge here. He will follow you to Osto and for as long as our actions clearly bring us closer to completing our goal."

[Folks, just so that you know, I'm relatively new to this game, too. In my experience after about one full module together you have enough to share with the rest of the group to feel immersed in the story.]

Brahmah
Thursday October 4th, 2007 7:20:08 AM

The ranger cocks his head, confused by the centaur's statement about minotaurs. He's clearly growing irritated by the term 'hornhead', as it is a very NON! Chosen way of thinking.

"Complicated plan. How would we destroy the foundation and dungeons as they are stone? Or get past his orc gardeners that seem to swarm the place? Sentries?"

"Glade, you are wise in many things, however, you fail to see certain things.
Being Chosen is about having faith in and understanding your taur cousins.

If you noticed, we came to a disagreement, voted, votes were counted and it was decided democratically that we would not go to the doctor's island right away.
If you noticed, I, the 'hornhead' did not make the decision, the Chosen as a group did. If it is rash, then we all have a part in it.

Next time there is combat, you can play field general. Tactical retreat is often easier said than done.

If you are intolerant of this 'hornhead's' qualities as leader, then call for the vote to remove me." He isn't being hostile or challenging, he is curious about what is going on. Clearly something has put a burr in Glade's hide.

So in my book He (Brahmah) Will always be the Captain in this group, because He has my troust! And yours! That is why I follow his commands, well most of the time any way" Flat top tell the group as to why he follows the Captain Brahmah.

"Then... Domi knows if we get clues about the passengers. The ship could be located, but what about the passengers ?"

"I could also ask about the hunters, I only see them from a distance and they could be more easily masked to divination."

"Whatdo you think about this question ?"

Gecktar
