Always Something More [DM Jerry] Tuesday December 11th, 2007 12:15:49 PM
Fabersham's eyes bore into each young master present.
"Yes, there is always something more. Strategy within strategy. Purposes within purposes. For instance, did you know that the Duke of Gnowsy is the 2nd family in line for the Throne of the Kingdom of New Elenna. Rulership should not have stayed with the High Lord Mayor, but after 10 years have passed to the next family in line. However, the Montdidier family has been overlooked in favor of an obscure rule allowing the High Lord Mayor to establish a Royal Line and become King if he is elected three times. Sturtavent is up for his third election next year. That election will make him king if he wins usurping the rightful claim of the Montdidier family.
"Do you see my point? There is always another level of complexity to any issue. Learn that."
Fabersham stops to let that sink in.
"Now, it is my intention that we immediately head out on a weeklong field trip. We will visit the orchards of the family and meet each foreman. Each has something to teach you. First, however, we will even meet one of the family's competitors and tour her compound. Then I will grade you on your critique of her winery and brewery, which we will present to your mother upon our return.
"You have one hour to pack for the trip. You will need both travel clothes and clothes suitable for dining and formal occasions.
"Meet me just outside the castle at that time and we shall depart."
Then without a further word, he strides purposefully out of the room and up the stairs to his room in the castle.
Picci Tuesday December 11th, 2007 4:44:28 PM
The petite acolyte blinks her dark eyes, having been unaware that the house of Montdidier had such an august standing within the kingdom. Her obsidian gaze slides to where Zita stands, noting that the redhead is definitely beginning to comprehend her newly-revealed position in the Wold.
"Here you go, o Ducal Protector." Picci teases Rosario, handing the young warrior his blade. "Next time you need to park your weapon, I'll be happy to help you. I can even improve it for a short time if the occasion ever arises..." Her smile is a flash of ultra-white against the lightly-tanned complexion of her face.
Julien Tuesday December 11th, 2007 5:08:01 PM
Julien listens carefully to what Master Fabersham has to say. Field trip? That could be interesting, although he hopes he can slip a few hours study in between tramping through doubtless boring fields of trees.
He walks past Zita and gives her a friendly nudge. "Well, aren't you the big cheese," he grins. "Don't worry, you'll be fine. It's Rosario I'm bothered about."
He ducks quickly away from Rosario's reach and strides off in his usual confident manner in order to get ready.
Gigi Tuesday December 11th, 2007 5:22:59 PM
Following the others out Gigi is lost in thought and beginning to play with the scar near his ear when Master Flabersham begins speaking. When he stops, Gigi quietly raises a hand and waits to be recognized. when he is he timidly asks a quick question. "Master Flabersham, umm are these new lessons and field trip in addition to our present duties? I only ask as I would like to figure out what my days are going to be like?"
Bendis Tuesday December 11th, 2007 6:42:26 PM
Bendis nods in awe as Flabersham explains the politics of the situation. He'd never have guessed there was so much going on behind the scenes. It makes him wonder if such machinations were rife back home. Were there secret battles between the clans that no-one ever heard about?
Frankly, Bendis doubts it. It's not the dwarven way. Dwarven political intrigue (as far as he can make out from his own limited exposure to such matters) seems to involve lots of looking terribly stern and unimpressed, followed by either a great deal of drinking, singing and backslapping, or (for those particularly knotty political conundrums), a waraxe to the skull. All this sneakiness and subtlety seems, well, rather human.
Not wishing to offend his new friends and hosts, and feeling really rather exited at the prospect of a field trip (though a little disappointed at the lack of set texts) Bendis keeps his counsel and hurries off to pack.
Zita Tuesday December 11th, 2007 11:07:16 PM
Zita listens as the politics are talked about and she swallows at the implications of what is said. With all the rest of her family missing, that would mean that if anything happened to her mother...she would be in line for more? "Oh god." Shaking her head this is turning out to be more than she had thought and to be honest...it scared her to no end.
Still deep in thoughts of all kinds she nods her head to those that pass her. "Yeah sure." She is not truely listening that well as she too leaves to do the packing that will be needed.
Dear DM Wednesday December 12th, 2007 8:04:15 AM
What No POSTING Report ??
Your Ceil
PS It's now wednesday You Know??
Rosario Wednesday December 12th, 2007 8:25:09 AM
Rosario was not sure he even understood what he was talking about. Rightful sussesion to the Throne of the Kingdom of New Elenna. Usurpership by the High Mayor. The answer seemed simple and he blurts it out, "Then he can't seek election" Rosario tightens his jaw, his blood was going a little bit now. Maybe that is why his family was being targetted and killed. To prevent them from speaking out. Perhaps the High Lord Mayor was not the wondrously noble and rightous man he had seemed. Maybe that is why the man before them, Fabersham left the employ of the Platinum Castle. Maybe they too, the Dragons, heros of the Wold were not.
The last thought set like ash in his mouth and made his mind ache. No he would not allow himself down that path. Not Yet. Rosario turns and looks at his sister. His hand moves as he hears Picci speak to take back the family blade. He barely hears her, but then snaps about to her. His face goes from deep thought and minor confusion to a sly grin. She always did sort of have that affect on him. "Thanks."
He takes a step and wraps a protective arm around Zita's shoulder, "It will be all right Duhgie," a slang term parents call thier little ones and sometimes used by older brothers "We will take it one step at a time." Rosario looks up to the others, and nods to them. "All of us and our first is Mr Fabersham's field trip. Let's get packing."
Rosario will grab an extra set of clothes for the more formal occassion that was mentioned and also his pack this time. He would not be caught unprepared. His blade hangs well at his side, his dagger and sling as well.
Bendis Wednesday December 12th, 2007 11:33:13 AM
When Bendis emerges a short time later he is dressed for travel: Gone is the ink-stained smoking jacket, and in its place he sports a battered old travelling coat so covered in pockets it is hard to find a square inch of the garment that is not serving as some form of storage.
He has a large pack over his shoulder, and seems to be struggling somewhat under the weight of it. He also has a crossbow, which looks somehow out of place.
"It's for shooting dinner for Shaff" he announces cheerfuly to anyone who'll listen. "He's getting on a bit, bless him, and he can use the help catching food." Knowing Bendis you suspect he's likely to do more harm to himself with the weapon than any unwary bird.
A striped brown and white muzzle appears from a bulging pocket, followed directly by the fattest weasel you've ever seen. The overweight familiar glances up at his master, then at the crossbow, lets out a tiny, contemptuous belch, and vanishes once more into the warmth of his pocket.
Fabersham [DM Jerry] Wednesday December 12th, 2007 2:39:15 PM
When Fabersham returns, he takes Gigi's question.
"First off, young master, my name is Fabersham. I don't believe there is an ounce of flab on me."
He deadpans it for about five seconds, and then smiles.
"If that is the worst that you lot call me, I'll be thrice blessed.
"When we are in the Fort, you will work on your normal duties in the afternoons only. Morning are for class. Evenings are for study."
He counts heads. Everyone here? Hope so, cause we're off!"
He tentatively puts down his walking stick and then sets off at a smart pace.
During the walk, Fabersham does not waste time. He questions them on everything. Math, History, winemaking, glassblowing, business. He also answers any and all questions thoroughly.
"We are going to a competitor's compound. She runs several wineries and a very famous brewery. I used to work for her. What? Her name is Dahlia."
"Now who else has a question for me?"
------------
Surprise Kent. :)
I figured :P~
Picci Wednesday December 12th, 2007 4:39:24 PM
Picci answers the general subject questions readily, although she is completely honest once Fabersham's questions turn to the complexities of blowing glass and making wine:
"I have no head for business and no true interest in the mechanics of making either wine nor the bottles it may come in...however, were you to ask me about cooking with wine--or, better yet, the herbs to cook or heal with...then I could go on for hours!"
The petite young lady has everything she believes she needs for the trip, although she is mulling over acquiring some parchment and ink in order to scribe a few scrolls with some curative spells on them...just in case.
OOC: I forgot to put parchment, pen and ink on the list o' stuff she has--can I do so or is that an Official Trip to the Catacombs?
Betheas Wednesday December 12th, 2007 7:46:18 PM
The young elf fumes with contempt when Fabersham commands the group to go off and grab their things; especially relating to clothes appropriate for nobility. This master assumes that everyone is rich, and has access to such things.
Betheas goes back to his cave home and grabs a travel pack. Only modest necessities are found within. He grabs his glaive and makes off to his next stop, the sergeant at the Plateau Lift. He pleads his case and begs to not be prosecuted for abandoning his post. Hopefully arrangements had been made in advance.
On his way back to the meeting point his imagination runs rampant with thoughts of his future. 'I guess I am to guard the young of the Montdidier family.'
He makes off behind Fabersham as they leave. He knows not one thing that Fabersham speaks of. The elf is woefully under-prepared for the task at hand. He hopes that a question might be asked about the martial arts, but none ever comes. So he remains silent and listens carefully.
Zita Wednesday December 12th, 2007 8:32:35 PM
Zita returns rather fast from her room. Her packing had been rather easy, though she had relented upon herself to take a dress or two...though it pricked her pride.
As the started out she listened intently to what was being said by their new tutor and shook her head. Oh, she knew bits and pieces of some of the things that were being talked about...but the suttleties escaped her. "Guess I will need to buckle down." This chaffed her to no end, but she knew were her obligations lay....famiglia, honor e dovere.
[translate: family, honor and duty]
Gigi Wednesday December 12th, 2007 10:57:40 PM
Gigi blushes to the the tips of his ears and the scar that runs acroos his face literally turns scarlett as he realises that he had called their new tutor by the wrong name.
Trying to make up for that gaff he listens intently and perks up when Dahlia's name is mentioned. Almost blurting out he stammers.
"I kind of met her once. At least I think I did. Well I saw her anyways. Isn't she dark skinned with purple eyes? She came to speak with my Da about bottles. She was thinking about a slightly different shape of bottle. I didn't know she had a vineyard around here."
--edited by Carl to point at Gigi's sheet, not Bendis'!
Julien Thursday December 13th, 2007 1:59:02 AM
Julien has also changed. His traveling clothes are simple, plain, but well cut, in his preferred dark colours. His provisions are packed neatly. He has a dagger at his belt, another stuffed down his boot, spell componants strapped to his belt and his spellbook stuffed in his tunic pocket. After collecting his cloak, he's ready. On the journey he's happy to go back and forth on mathematics and history; winemaking and glassblowing are less interesting but he tries to look like he's paying attention. There's too much to think on - that burning hands spell, a million and one questions about Platinum dragons that he doesn't ask yet - he doesn't want to seem too gauche. There's also the distraction of wondering how the heck Bendis can concentrate on anything with that creature stuffed in his pocket, and then there's the elf. He'll look over occasionally. That was some weapon, and the way Betheas carried it, it looked like he knew how to use it, too.
Bendis Thursday December 13th, 2007 6:52:52 AM
Bendis does his best to answer Fabersham's questions, but in truth he is a fair way out of his depth.
Instead he listens carefully to both Fabersham and the answers of his companions, jotting down a note or two in a notebook every so often with a charcoal pencil. He has been given a fabulous opportunity to learn, and he doesn't intend to waste it.
He struggles a little to keep up with the brisk pace, trotting along with a rolling gait that seems to infuriate poor Shaffbuffum. The portly weasel repeatedly sticks his head out of his pocket and hisses his disaproval.
Picci Thursday December 13th, 2007 8:31:34 AM
Picci takes the time to fill Bendis in on who the Platinum Dragons are to New Elenna:
"Basically, the Platinum Dragons were a group of really hunky heroes who went all over the Wold--and beyond!--to fight evil everywhere. I do believe that this Dahlia person is supposed to be the president of their fan club or something." The petite, jet-tressed girl shrugs. "I used to have a Valdor pin-up parchment poster a few years ago, but once I started concentrating on healing and herbology, I just didn't keep up with all the developments of the group."
Rosario Thursday December 13th, 2007 1:05:41 PM
Rosario is nearly clueless on inemaking, glassblowing and most subjects of study. Sure he knows you make wine from grapes and other fruits. He knows that the fruit and time of year and such affects the flavor and really that is about it. As Fabersham asks about the business and such of both, he answers as he knows. As for questions for him, Rosario really does not have any
GGI [DM Jerry] Friday December 14th, 2007 3:31:58 PM
Our intrepid scholars walk all day and then arrive at Green Gnomish Industries and Dahlia Lightfinger's castle a couple of hours after dark.
The compound is very large with at least six separate buildings besides the castle.
A huge corporate type sign says, "GGI."
A sentry emerges from the shadows and hails them. He quickly comes forward. "Welcome travelers. How may we be of service?"
Fabersham lights up the end of his staff and lets his face be seen.
"Ahh, Welcome Sir. I'm sure the Lady will be overjoyed! This way sires and ladies."
Several other sentries join the group as they wind inward to where the castle stands. Bonfires on the walls and torches in the windows look cheery and warm on this chilly late fall night.
Inside, after turning right past the great hall, is a hearthroom. An imposing and rather surprising woman stands to warmly greet you!
Surprisingly imposing woman is correct, though she stands only two and a half feet tall, there is an air about her of the utmost confidence and competence. To those of you who looked at the tapestries of the Platinum dragons, there is no mistaking that she is one of those depicted in the scenes.
As the dark skinned woman makes her way from from behind a desk, the first thing you notice about her is her enormous violet eyes. By any standards she is beautiful and yet you can tell right away she doesn't get by on looks alone. The second thing you notice is the platinum and emerald earring that is the lone piece of jewelry adorning her.
Coming around the front of the desk ,she opens her arms invitingly as if she were to embrace you all and greets you. Her voice is warm and soft, with the definite air that is used to command and yet you find yourself warming to her almost immediately.
"Good Evening. Welcome to my humble home and fledgling establishment. My name is Dahlia Lightfingers, formerly of Plateau City. It is my sincere pleasure to welcome heir of the Montpedier family and her friends. Please come in and have a seat. we can have a conversation and then perhaps a meal and tour.
GGI is both very traditional and cutting edge. They produce everything under the popular Green Gnomish Logo. They have both a brewery and several wineries. GGI is very big on magical additions to their wines and beers. One red wine magically clears the head after one hour. Another creates a feeling of relaxation and actually gives you amnesia for the time of inebriation. Battle Bear is becoming very popular with soldiers and adventurers alike. It creates Courage for about 30 minutes to get armies over their pre-battle jitters. GGI and Dahlia are always changing things up. They cycle products in and out of the marketplace to keep them fresh. She doesn't just stick to the bestsellers, but tends to market what she likes as well as what will build the marketplace.
CDM Jerry Friday December 14th, 2007 3:58:08 PM
Greetings Woldians!
I am excited to tell you that BIG, even HUGE changes are coming for The Wold. The Wold is evolving and everyone one of you will be affected. But I'm not going to tell you about it here. I'm just going to whet your appetite:
--A new type of game --Major changes to the website --Greater choice for both DMs and players!
I will begin introducing the new material in the LnB sometime between now and Monday. You will need to start watching that board daily to understand what is going to be happening. This process will be ongoing for a bit, so you really do need to view the Loot 'n Booty board daily starting now.
I'm mass emailing this and also posting it on every game board so everyone sees it.
Enjoy your weekend!
Jerry
Bendis Friday December 14th, 2007 5:02:00 PM
Bendis looks puzzled as Picci fills him in about the Platinum Dragons.
"Do you know, I think I have heard of them, in an odd sort of way. I dreamed I was at a wedding, surrounded by strangers, and do you know I'm sure the people you describe were there. In fact, I think I dreamed that the groom was one of their number. How odd. Excuse me, I must make a note."
The dwarf enters the compound doing his best (and failing) not to look like an awe-struck country bumpkin. Everything is on such a grand scale. Back home this would be a whole dwarven community. Here it's merely a single commercial enterprise. He shakes his head in wonder, and reflects (not for the first time since his forray into human lands) that the dwarves are being left far behind with their relatively static populations and love of tradition. Should trends continue in this way, Bendis can forsee a day (based on current patterns of growth perhaps 50? 60 years away?) where tensions based on competition for resources are likely to grow to a point where conflict between humans and dwarves becomes almost inevitable.
He ponders all this with total detatchment, more as an academic excercise than with any emotional involvement. It is merely the weighing of variables, the prediction of future events based on existing data. Despite his bumbling demeanor, his social awkwardness, his capacity for forgetting to put his trousers on before going for breakfast, Bendis' mind is constantly at work. Perhaps that is why he has such difficulty in dealing with the mundane; his mind is always tied up pondering three impossible problems at once.
Picture added to Bendis' sheet, if anyone wants to see what he looks like :-)
Picci Monday December 17th, 2007 1:44:01 AM
The petite human smiles at the warm welcome given by the female halfling. Even though Picci's own forte lay not in the winemaking aspects of the family business, she nonetheless appreciated the subtleties of the drinks that accented cuisine, be it through accompanying dishes as a drink or actually being used in the cooking process itself.
"Good day." she told Dahlia with a smile, dropping a curtsy of respect. "I am Sorella Piccola...but friends call me 'Picci.' Fabersham has been telling us a little bit about you and your business here...is it terribly dull after all the adventures that the Platinum Dragons had...?"
OOC: Picci is currently wearing the wine-red traveling clothes pictured at the bottom of her character sheet.
Stew and Cocoa [DM Jerry] Monday December 17th, 2007 4:40:03 PM
Dahlia sees quite quickly that the group is tired from the travel and ready for bed after some stew and cocoa.
So she promises them a tour of the brewery the next day and a taste of her latest creation, "Battle Beer" and sends them off to bed.
-------------
[Folks, we'll be posting the rest of this week and then sporatically for Christmas as usual.
Get yourselves over to the LnB if you haven't]
Rosario Monday December 17th, 2007 4:42:22 PM
Rosario nods at Dahlia's introduction and returns a "Roasario Antonino Sylvius, a true honor to meet you." Rosario konws little about politics and royalty and such, but he does know halflings are generally down to earth people and even one as famous as a Platinum Dragon would rather have you simply say hi than get all to bowing and stuff.
At the mention of a tour and meal he smiles pleasantly, food is always a good thing, "Sounds like a fantastic plan, thank you."
OOC: edited the Post Name so that it links to Rosario's CS. The link seems to be saved on my browser for some odd reason. -- Donna
Bendis Monday December 17th, 2007 4:50:30 PM
Bendis goes slightly to pieces when introduced to the famous halfling.
"Oh, um, hello, I'm Bendis. Um, Bendis Billingstone, that is. Thank you, a cup of stew would be lovely. And cocoa. Thank you. Did I say that already?"
He glances over at Picci and Rosario, blushing, wishing he could seem as confident as they sound. He takes off his glasses and studiously cleans them on his hankerchief, hoping Dahlia will talk to someone else.
The dwarf spends a short while updating his diary before retiring for the night. After the long day's journey it takes him almost no time to fall asleep, and his room soon reverberates to the sound of dwarven snoring.
Betheas Monday December 17th, 2007 7:28:13 PM
Betheas bows deeply to Dahlia. She is a Knight of the Realm and should be treated with the respect she deserves.
The elf is famished from the long hike, and takes to the bowl of stew with gusto. The testing of the battle beer would also be a treat, seeing as many of the the youth were not allowed to consume alcohol, no less battle beer.
Gigi Monday December 17th, 2007 9:39:05 PM
Gigi stands to the rear of the group and watches the Halfling for a moment trying to remember what she was like when she visited his father, but doesn't remember much about the visit. Deciding that he better get over it, he takes his turn at introduction and gives a quick bow as he speaks. "Thank you for your hospitality my lady. My name is Giacamo, Montpedier."
When he stands back up and moves to the rear again is when it hits him. She already knew about Zita. How was that possible?
Julien Monday December 17th, 2007 9:57:02 PM
"Julien Delacour of Plateau City, pleased to meet you," he says to Dahlia after giving her a formal bow. He's impressed, not only with the place itself, but the way the wines are more like potions. Now that was the kind of brewing he could get behind. He never did understand why people drank for the sake of getting drunk. It clouded the mind, or at least his mind anyway (going off what alcohol he and his sisters had managed to sneak behind the back of their mother).
After dinner he spends a good amount of time going through the machinations of the Spectral Hand spell. He can get the thing to appear and float, but aaghh........ just getting it to go in the direction he wanted.... and then there was the spell attachment. No good just sending the thing off on it's own. practice, practice, practice again, with that stew rolling in his belly. Not much sleep for this one, tonight.
Zita Monday December 17th, 2007 10:37:08 PM
Zita stepped forward and cut a nice neat curtsy to Dahlia, her head bowed enough for respect but not taking her eyes off the other woman. "I am Zita Montdidier and it is an honor to meet you too Lady Dahlia...my mother has talked highly of you often." As she straightens she does not let the fact that Dahlia knows about her register. For some reason it has come to her mind that lots of people probably know about her and her unique position.
As she had let the others introduce themselves she had taken the time to look around a little more. She appraises the set up that she sees around this immediate area and is not a bit surprised. "I thank you for the hospitality you offer to me and my family." All those present are like family to her and there is no use to hide it. She cuts another curtsy and gives a smile to the this woman that she has a feeling that she is going to like very much.
As she takes a seat and eats the stew that is presented to them she relaxes. "If it would not be too much trouble...what made you decide to get into the wine business?" She knows enough from what she has heard and from seeing Dahlia, she is sure that they are true...to know that she is a formidable woman. She takes her time to enjoy the meal as she listens to anything and everything that Dahlia has to say. Unfortunately, this woman will most likely one day be her rival in the wine business and it would do well to learn as much as possible about her...no matter how much she liked her.
Dahlia [DM Jerry] Tuesday December 18th, 2007 2:54:18 PM
Dahlia's eyes sparkle as Zita asks her question.
"For me, interestingly enough, it was the research. I'm always asking, what if we add some of that or try a mixture of this fruit and this method of aging.
"I was hooked when I read a book by Fladdius Longbottle, a Gnome who lived in the 3rd age. He was experimenting with minor 0-level magic and various sorts of beer. I decided to try adding some magical effects to the natural tendencies of different wines to see what the results would be.
"I'll show you the lab in the morning. But I must be boring you by now."
She yawns.
"Or boring myself. Either way, time to turn in. Night all. See you in the morning."
------------- [apologies to Kent for playing Dahlia. I'm sure I'm getting it all wrong.
We're kinda in a roleplaying mode now. Not that some important stuff is not going to happen or be significant. But nothing you'll miss if you go out of town from this point on.
Consider us "in Xmas mode" starting now. Post when you have access to a computer.
Jamie will take over and Scene 3 will begin on Thurs, Jan. 3rd.]
Picci d20+6=7 Tuesday December 18th, 2007 7:22:01 PM
Picci makes it a point to give Bendis' shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
"You're doing just fine." she assures her friend. "Just try to remember that she puts her boots on one at a time, just like you do."
The stew is excellent (as is the cocoa) and Picci eagerly asks after possibly conversing with the cook as she can't readily identify the ingredients in the hearty fare. (OOC: her Cooking skill check was a natural 1! Ow!)
When the young people are dismissed to their quarters, Picci joins Zita and walks with the redhead for a bit.
"So..." says the petite acolyte conversationally, "...how does it feel to be the official heir to the House of Montdidier..?"
Zita Tuesday December 18th, 2007 9:08:23 PM
She listens to Dahlia with more than a little interest and nods her head. "It makes sense and I can see the interest in unique mixtures." With even greater interest, though she fights to hide it...she is anxious to see the brewery. Though the talks come to an end way too soon for her taste she stands at her hosts bidding and nods her head. "Then till the morn then." She will allow herself to be led to beds with the others.
Zita snorts as she is asked about being next in line for not one major role but possibly two. "Well...to be honest, I am scared and a little worried." Glancing to Picci she gives another smile and shrugs her shoulders. "Still I knew it was possible, even if I did not want to admit it and I have my family to help me out if I get into trouble." She reaches over and gives the other woman's arm a gentle squeeze and that same smile returns to her face.
She glances around and sighs, though there is a sense of anticipation in it as well. "I think that this is part of the reason for our new tutor. That is also the reason for the visits to the other vineyards. As well as my mother's acceptance of you lot as my friends." Her tone is serious and you can tell that she is taking this more serious than she may at times let on. "I fear that I will make many mistakes...I just hope that I do not disappoint any of my family." She will make for bed, though she does feel like talking a little more.
Rosario Tuesday December 18th, 2007 10:12:19 PM
Rosario stands politely and listens. Overhearing Picci with Bendis, he simply can't resist, "Just like everyone, save that her boots cost more than we will likely ever earn and have more magical power then the entire Montdidier estate." Rosario moves with Zita and Picci, in his mind he will even more now be her big brother and protector. Poor girl is never going to date The stray thought is in and out as the smile flicks across his face. It would be all in good fun. It's what big brothers do.
To her last comments Rosario waits until they arrive at her room. "Remeber Duhgie, you will never be a disappointment to me." He gives her a big brother hug , "Sleep well." and moves to his own room.
Inside he lights a lamp, finds a book and a drink for a little wind down time and then goes to bed.
Gigi Tuesday December 18th, 2007 10:20:31 PM
(OOC Jerry you are doing fine with Dahlia. She is playful, smart and tricky when needed but is almost always straightforward)
Gigi finds himself relaxing with the dining and conversation as the evening wears on and even finds himself dozing on and off a bit as it gets later. He can't wait til the morning tour hen he wants to ask about the bottles she is using and if because of the magic if she has had to do any modifying. Watching Zita, he had always been impressed with her confidence but now, it almost seemed to oozed out of her as she traded banter with htis very powerful woman.
Julien Wednesday December 19th, 2007 1:12:13 AM
The later it gets, the more Julien is oblivious to anything other than his spell book. It's possibly more than a borderline obsession, but such single-mindedness has always come naturally. The biggest danger from Julien right now will be if he falls asleep in the midst of study without blowing out his candles and accidentally sets fire to the place.
Picci Wednesday December 19th, 2007 1:39:22 AM
Picci rolls her dark eyes and delivers a mock-punch to Rosario's shoulder.
"Oh, you!" she says with toss of her head and adds with a grin and a twinkle in her eyes: "You missed your calling, Rosario--you should have been a bard with your sense of humor!"
The raven-maned girl bids all good night and changes into her plain gown to sleep in. Before turning in, however, she follows her intuition and knocks softly on the door of Zita.
"You seemed to need an ear to bend, my friend." the acolyte says when the redhead opens the door. "I came to let you know that, although they lack points, my ears are quite flexible when the occasion demands."
Bendis d20+7=8 Wednesday December 19th, 2007 10:16:19 AM
"Fladdius Longbottle. No, I don't think I've heard of him" says Bendis scratching his chin (Knowledge: Arcana 8: Nat 1! Good start, Bendis!). "It sounds fascinating though."
Bendis smiles gratefully at Picci. "You're right of course" he mumbles. "It's just... oh, I don't know. My tongue just seems to tie itself into knots sometimes."
Bendis drops off to sleep more enthused than ever about his upcoming lessons. He hadn't realised they'd be studying applied magical brewing. He's toyed with making potion s in the past, but the results have been universally disastrous (it had taken weeks for his beard to turn back from that horrid shade of green). To see it in action should be fascinating...
Farce Wednesday December 19th, 2007 12:45:17 PM
As the group gets to the quarters, they find Farce already asleep, having skipped the supper. His feet are swollen and he's wrapped them in liniment that stinks to high heaven.
He snores lightly holding his pillow as if it was a person.
Stabbing Pain [DM Jerry] Wednesday December 19th, 2007 12:49:24 PM
As Picci and Zita are talking, Zita suddenly feels a stabbing pain in her head. It seems to shoot from her head through her nerves to the earring and back again.
It passes, but lingers, a full blown headache replacing it.
Zita Wednesday December 19th, 2007 9:34:53 PM
Zita answers the knock at her door and smiles when she finds Picci there. "Please come in." Once inside she nods her head as she could really use someone to talk to. Settling into a chair, having gotten into more suitable clothes for sleep, she turns a mug of cocoa that she brought with her in her hands.
Glancing up she pours out a few of her troubles. "I am just not sure if I am truely ready for the responsibility. I mean, I know that I have nothing to worry about yet...but it is just the possibilities that weight heavy." She takes a sip of her cocoa and sighs as she snuggles into the chair. Her facade of bearing and grace is allowed to slip away as he feels that she can be herself. Glancing to Picci with a serious face, something that does not happen often she shakes her head. "What I will be needing is someone to talk to, bounce ideas around with and keep me on a true path." She takes another drink from the mug and closes her eyes.
Not daring to look at the young female she is talking to as she cannot bear to think of what she might be thinking...she continues. "I think that you might be....." Her eyes flash open and then are squeezed shut as a sudden flash of pain slams into her head. The mug she had been holding in her left hand drops as she grabs for her temples with both hands.
As the true pain subsides, she is left with a nasty headache...and a gnawing fear. Her eyes come open and there is a mixture of fear and pain there...but no words are spoken.
Gigi Wednesday December 19th, 2007 9:44:21 PM
Gigi heads off to the room and bed he is shown with no second questions asked and drops into a dead sleep almost immediately.
Bendis Thursday December 20th, 2007 7:49:20 AM
As Bendis sleeps he dreams.
His dreams are claustrophobic and dark. He is lost, wandering down endless twisting tunnels carved from the rock. Deeper and deeper he goes, the tunnel walls pressing in ever closer. He begins to panic; something is following him, down here in the dark! He tries to run, but it's as if he's moving through treacle. The nameless horror at his back is drawing nearer, its hot breath on his neck.
Now his feet are splashing through water. He looks down; no, not water, he realises; ink! The tunnel is filling with black ink! It swirls up around his legs, rising fast. It seems to be gushing out of his pocket. He reaches in and pulls out an inkwell. He stoppers it and the inky tide recedes. His father's voice rings out behind him:
"What are your hands stained with, boy?"
He gazes down at his ink-stained hands and turns to answer, but his father is not there. Instead it's Granny Billingstone, fixing him with a beady eye.
"Well?" she demands, speaking with Abuelita's voice.
"It-it's ink, granny. I use it for my magic spells..."
"Magic?" she snaps, waving her cane at him. "Magic? Magic's for elves, boy! Real dwarves smite!"
"That's what I've been telling him" nods Bendis' father, Boomis.
"Me too" chimes in his sister Bragna, scowling.
"Smite! Smite! Smite!" chant Bagnor, Bokob, Brundel and Brenna, his other siblings. They surround him, looming high over the cowering Bendis.
"Smite! Smite! Smite!" roar the assembled ranks of 27 generations of Billingstones, banging their axes on their shields and towering over the panicking dwarf.
Bendis tries to defend himself with a spell, but he drops his spell components on the floor, and all the words are coming out wrong. The army of dwarves press in, smothering him...
He wakes to find he has fallen out of bed, tangled tightly in a sheet with his pillow over his face.
Picci d20+6=21 Thursday December 20th, 2007 10:30:31 AM
The petite acolyte listens carefully to what Zita is saying, her face reflecting empathy for the unique position that the redhead finds herself in now. Picci is a bit surprised and rather pleased when she anticipates Zita's statement about needing a confidant--but anything that either the young noble or Picci herself may have continued to say is cut off by the sudden stab of pain that obviously overwhelms Zita.
"Are you all right?" the jet-tressed girl asks anxiously, her dark eyebrows knitting with concern. She takes the time to quickly check over her childhood friend and adopted sister. (OOC: utilizing a Heal skill check, the result of which is 21.)
Immediately Picci reaches out and grasps the teenaged lady's shoulder in one hand and lays the palm of the other one on Zita's forehead, murmuring words that, although they are largely incomprehensible to Zita, nonetheless seem to comfort her. (OOC: Picci is invoking the orison CureMinorWound, which should--unless the headache is a prelude to something really nasty--at least make the pain manageable, if not banish it entirely.)
Momentary Relief [DM Jerry] Thursday December 20th, 2007 3:31:56 PM
Zita receives momentary relief from the pain in her head, but then it returns. It is obviously now more than just a normal headache.
The shooting pain through the nerves of her face strikes again--head to ear--a very unusual place to be feeling a shooting of pain through the nerves.
Fabersham comes out of the room where the party is staying (nice flowing dark red curtains separating boys side from girls) It seems to weaken her a bit. Makes her dizzy. But by no means does it incapacitate her.
"Girls let's get inside please. It is time for....Master Zita, are you ok maam?"
Zita Friday December 21st, 2007 12:08:05 AM
Feeling the cool healing pouring into her head she gives a wane smile. The pain and headache is passing with the application of Picci's healing arts. "Thank you." She has reached out with her left hand to squeeze the hand of her lifelong friend.
Then the pain hit again and she cannot help but squeeze her friends hand harder. She does not hear Master Fabersham come out or even say anything to her. Her stomache is roiling as she still feels the shootings of pain coursing through her head. It leaves her dizzy, pained, sick and the most bothersome fearful.
Julien Friday December 21st, 2007 2:27:42 AM
There's a point during the night when Julien realizes that he's led a privileged life. He's never gone hungry, always had decent clothes on his back, always had his own room, and has never, ever had to put up with the stench coming from Farce's feet. How he was supposed to concentrate - what with that, and the girls throwing crockery and talking next door. Bendis falling out of bed is the final straw. He snaps his spell book shut. He lets out a sigh.
Bendis d20+2=17 Friday December 21st, 2007 8:44:22 AM
Bendis struggles out of his sheet and blinks around the room. Julien is still up (and looking a little tetchy for some reason), and master Fabersham's bed is empty. He mumbles embaressed apologies to Julien and is in the process of clambering back into bed when he distinctly hears the words through the curtain (listen 17);
"Master Zita, are you ok maam?"
The concern in their tutor's voice is evident. Wrapping his nightgown around his ample belly Bendis pokes his head through the curtain.
"Is everything all right?"
Picci Friday December 21st, 2007 2:16:31 PM
Becoming increasingly concerned, Picci's face reflects her growing panic as she looks to Fabersham.
"Sir...sir, I think something's dreadfully wrong!" she says in a stressed tone. "Zita had a bit of a headache and I used a minor curative spell, but now it seems to be back with a vengeance..!"
Farce Friday December 21st, 2007 2:16:50 PM
Farce still snoring away is oblivious to everything. Then something in his dream was weird. The pretty girl in his dream was turning into a pig and saying, "Wake up Farce. Something's happening."
Farce's eyes jerk open and his dagger is in his hand instantly.
"I hate that pig."
Fabersham [DM Jerry] Friday December 21st, 2007 2:18:52 PM
Fabersham leads Ziti back into their chambers.
"Boys, lock the door. Something's wrong with Ziti."
He sits her down and looks intently into her face.
"Ok, Ziti, tell me what you're feeling? How did it start?"
----------
Merry Christmas folks! I'll be in town so posting will continue for those of us that are left. ;)
Rosario Friday December 21st, 2007 3:06:34 PM
Rosario sleeps as the others study, or read or toss about or anything else. It had been a long day and he body had been consuming resources that he did not get to replentish as often as he did at home. Lesson learned. Travel require one to pay more attention to food and water consumption and not wait until you felt hungy or thirsty.
At Master Fabersham's voice, Rosario blearily awakens. Nothing is really registering with him in the half dream state he is in. The best the boy can muster is "Huh? Why am I getting up?"
Gigi Friday December 21st, 2007 6:23:24 PM
Gigi snores slightly as things are going on around him, until Fabersham speaks and then he wakes almost instantly battle instincts kicking in. Reaching for his sword Fabersham's words finally sink in and he relaxes a moment and then peers around the corner to see what is going on, the cleric in him now moving to the forefront and taking precidence over the warrior.
hearing Pici stills his hand as he was about to cast a healing spell of his own, his hand stroking the scar near his ear.
"Master Fabersham, is it natural or magical? Do you know? and do you want me to find out?"
Zita Friday December 21st, 2007 8:01:30 PM
Most uncharacteristic for the bold young redhead, she allows herself to be led into the inner chamber. As she takes a seat, her head continues to pound and she winces. "I was just starting to talk to Picci and then there was this sudden pain in my temples. It shot right around to my ears." There is still pain in her eyes from what must be threatening to split her head. "We were doing nothing different than some nights that we talk...having a mug of cocoa and...well, just talking." She slowly shuts her eyes and rubs her temples as she tries to stave off the pain...that and keep her stomache in check.
Bendis d20+7=11 d20+7=21 Saturday December 22nd, 2007 8:57:07 AM
At Fabersham's words Bendis nods and trots over to the door, locking it firmly. Then the dwarf hurries over, conecerned for his friend. Gigi's comment gets him thinking; could this be some form of magical attack? Surely it can't be a normal headache if Picci's healing spell failed to shift it (Knowledge: Arcana 11, Spellcraft 21).
He takes Zita's hand and squeezes it reassuringly.
"Don't worry, Zita. We'll keep you safe." He turns to Fabersham. "Um, sir, if the pain gets too much I could try a sleep spell. It would only last a minute or so, but it might at least give Zita some temporary relief from this headache."

Something Official [DM Jerry] Tuesday December 25th, 2007 12:41:48 PM
"Gigi, I could detect for magic as well. Why don't you proceed. Check to see if her headache is magical. See if something other than her earring is glowing."
"Zita, why don't you take the earring off and see if that helps? It will let Gigi do a better detect as well, right Gigi?"
Fabersham seems very content to let the party use their abilities. He gives Gigi an approving look with her idea to test for magic.
In fact, he seems to be coming off very father-like at the moment. Very different than when you first met him back at Fort Silence.
Rosario Tuesday December 25th, 2007 1:45:10 PM
Rosario simply observes from his bed. he certainly does not like the way this is starting, but if thier is anyone who can do less in this situation, Rosario does not know who that could be.
Picci Tuesday December 25th, 2007 9:14:19 PM
Picci looks on, worried about the glowing earring that Master Fabersham had mentioned, and wondering how it was that she hadn't noticed anything glowing herself.
Reading Minds [DM Jerry] Wednesday December 26th, 2007 11:07:25 AM
Reading Picci's mind, he says, "No, it's not glowing. But it will seem to to Gigi when she casts the spell. It makes all magic in the area light up for her."
He smiles patting Picci on the shoulder and then returning to look nervously at Zita. He motions for her to ahead and remove the earring.
Picci Wednesday December 26th, 2007 2:41:04 PM
Picci is relieved at Master Fabersham's words, but simultaneously puzzled that the famous-in-his-own-right sidekick to the Platinum Dragons keeps referring to Gigi as a girl, since Gigi is short for "Giacamo Giampiero" and is very clearly a human male.
Oh, well...at least he isn't calling Zita "Ziti" anymore.
OOC: all of the above is posted with tongue VERY firmly in cheek.
--------
Jerry: Sorry bout that!
Julien Wednesday December 26th, 2007 8:51:56 PM
"Sounds like Zita is ill," Julien informs Rosario while at the same time giving the knife-weilding Farce a wide berth. He gathers with the others and observes. Funny how Master Fabersham wanted the door locked. Maybe that madman Farce had the right idea, although who could be threatening them in such a place is beyond comprehension. Who would dare?
While the others gather around Zita, he attempts to attract Rosario's attention and then motions to the door. If they kept their eye on that, then they were covered. Maybe.
Rosario Wednesday December 26th, 2007 9:47:01 PM
Rosario grunts agreement to Julien and casts a side long look towards Farce and then to the door then back again and once more. Rosario gets out of the bed and frees his sword from the scabbard, which he leaves still around the bedpost and moves to stand with his back to the wall sharing the door on the same side as the door latch. Th point of his weapon rings quietly as he sets the tip to the floor and places a hand on each of the quillions.
Bendis Thursday December 27th, 2007 4:47:29 AM
The dwarf glances around the room. His companions seem to be readying themselves for a fight. Could this headache be the prelude to some sort of assault? But why?
Deciding it is better to be safe than sorry Bendis gives Zita's hand one last squeeze and and says "I'll be back in a moment, Zita, I'm just going to fetch my spell components.
Then he trots back to his bedside table, collects his glasses, spellbook and his spell component pouch, and then trots back out to the others. He glances nervously about, as if expecting an attack at any moment.
He mutters to Rosario, quietly enough that he does not alarm Zita, "I-if there is an attack, hold a moment before getting into a fight. I've been practicing a Charming spell that may prevent anyone getting hurt. Um, if it works properly. The last time I cast it it sort of worked backwards, and I ended up hugging random passers-by on the streets of Plateau City for an hour. Almost got arrested. Think I've ironed out the kinks now though. Um, hopefully."
He opens his spell book, flips through a couple of pages until he finds the spell he wants, adjusts his glasses, then waits and watches.
(OOC: Readied Action: Cast Charm Person should a potential enemy appear, DC 15)
Shaff (familiar of Bendis) Thursday December 27th, 2007 8:27:07 AM
Shaffbaffum, woken from idyllic dreams of stealing eggs, stalks haughtily into the room (which is hard to pull off when you can barely walk without your belly hitting the floor) and demands to know just what exactly all this blasted fuss is about, who is responsible for waking him up, and why they haven't been been cut into bite-sized chunks and fed to the eagles yet.
Or, if you're a human rather than a weasel, he enters, sits, and squeaks a bit.
Gigi Thursday December 27th, 2007 2:25:58 PM
Gigi nods and looks very serious for a moment as he digs inside his robe and removes his holy symbol. Walking forward, he lays it against Zita and begins a short chant focusing his thoughts on detecting any magical activity around his friend. Detect magic
Farce Thursday December 27th, 2007 9:02:48 PM
Farce, now awake, shrugs and relaxes sheathing his knife.
"Sorry was dreaming somethin."
He watches, but is confused about what exactly the problem with Ziti is about.
------ Gotta remember to post for my character too.
Magical Mystery Tour [DM Jerry] Thursday December 27th, 2007 9:05:43 PM
Gigi detects magic that seems to be running from the earring up over the skull and to Ziti's forehead. Very strange indeed.
The casting of the spell causes a sharp pain in Ziti's ear and forehead. Who know she had nerves in her lower ear? Even stranger.
Betheas Friday December 28th, 2007 4:33:57 PM
Beatheas is wide eyed and unsure of what to make of the situation at first. When he understands that the party may be in danger, he leaves his bunk and grabs his pole arm, which is resting against the wall.
Weapon firmly in hand, he takes a stance in the middle of the room; the door just beyond the reach of the tip of his glaive. Should someone enter the room, the reach of his glaive should ensure that Betheas gets the upper hand / or at least the initial hand.
Betheas gives a nod to Rosario. So this is the guy he was going to be working with? Well, they were both doing what they should be doing.
What was wrong with Ziti? : )
Bendis Saturday December 29th, 2007 5:46:13 AM
Seeing Betheas prepare his weapon, Bendis gulps. Are they really in such danger? He goes over the lines of the spell in his head, making sure he has got everything correct this time.
CDM Jerry: OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Saturday December 29th, 2007 12:02:27 PM
Greetings Woldians,
I hope you've been keeping up with the changes we've been discussing on the LnB. If not, you have a novel to read amongst all the posts.
Basically, we're doing the following things:
--purging all 2nd characters from everyone except DMs...that's their reward for being a DM. --We're adding a new type game: Challenge Games. It is a 2 year campaign game. We're calling our normal games Career Games.
Anyway, because of the Challenge Games, which will begin ASAP for their first 2 year run, as well as the pruning of the 2nd characters, we'll be holding a vote starting
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 2ND
...and ENDING on
MONDAY, JANUARY 7TH
We'll be voting on one thing only:
Do you want to play in a Challenge Game or a Career Game?
If you choose Career Game, I"ll want a second piece of information. I will need to know if you want to remain in your current game or move to another.
That's it.
Voting is NOT accepted until January 2nd and all votes will be emailed to me here at gericko@gmail.com. I will not accept votes that are made on the LnB, though you may post your vote there if you want.
If you don't vote, then the ACDMs and I will be PLACING you into a Challenge game by default as that is the "new thing" and we're kinda pushing it as a new option.
Let me repeat that and reword it:
If you don't vote you lose your right to choose your game and WILL be placed. Yeah I know that is hard, but we're moving forward and don't want to have votes trickling in weeks later.
This email is just to get your attention in case you haven't been following the information overload on the LnB.
If you have a question about all this or are now totally confused, reply to me only or post on the LnB where you'll get 100s of people telling you what is going on. :)
Or you can IM me on AIM. My handle is Gericko.
Enjoy your day and don't freak out!
CDM Jerry
Julien d20+1=15 Saturday December 29th, 2007 2:02:50 PM
There's a moment when Julien thinks they're going to look mightily silly if nothing pans out, but seeing as no one was going to get any sleep with all this commotion anyway, it was a bit of a moot point.
He stays quietly by the door, listening. If anyone did manage to burst in they'd be pummeled, impaled and fried. Not a bad night's work.
Listen DC 15
Picci Saturday December 29th, 2007 8:57:41 PM
"If the earring is magical..." Picci offers by way of an opinion, "...and Zita wasn't aware it was supposed to be...wouldn't it be best to remove the earring, then..?"
Warning! [DM Jerry] Sunday December 30th, 2007 1:51:00 PM
Fabersham says, "Yes, I'll do it since she's in a bit of shock."
Fabersham reaches forward. As he approaches the ear lobe and the earring, he finds that he can't touch the ring. There is some sort of protective area around the earring. He tries again and gets a small shock.
"Ow"
Then Ziti gets a voice in her head ...
...and all pain stops.
"I am being attacked. Please defend yourself."
Farce Sunday December 30th, 2007 1:54:22 PM
Farce looks puzzled at the protection away from the ring.
"Ziti, can you hear us? Try to take the ring off.
"This is not good. But why would grandmother give her a cursed ring? Only cursed rings can't be taken off, right?"
Gigi d20+2=21 Sunday December 30th, 2007 4:17:24 PM
Hmmm, The earring is definitely magic but there seems to be some sort of magic flowing from the ring over her head and into it through her forehead. Spell craft roll DC 21
As he watches for a moment his hand again begins to stroke the scar running to his ear and then he begins to think/talk outloud.
"I wonder if the earring isn't some sort of communication piece between her and her Grandmother. And perhaps there is something happening to her and Zita is sensing it?"
Bendis Sunday December 30th, 2007 6:05:30 PM
Bendis tugs nervously at his beard as Gigi speaks.
"You- you mean her Grandmother may be under attack? That the Montdidiers are being targetted? If that were true, Zita is in danger! We should move her, keep her as far from the door and windows as possible. If someone breaks in here it will be Zita they're looking for. We need to protect her, keep her hidden. Behind the curtain perhaps?"
His sense of forboding is growing steadily, his hands trembling at the thought of imminent attack. Regardless, without even being truly concious of it, Bendis positions himself between Zita and the door.
He looks around the room, searching for somewhere secure.
Zita Sunday December 30th, 2007 10:27:49 PM
Zita has been totally silent for the past few moments. Most of it has been concentrating on not getting sick and she had not really been hearing anyone else.
Then there is the sudden arrival of a voice in her head and she gently reaches up to touch the earring. "Grandma...is that you?" She is not even sure if it works both ways or even if this is her Grandma speaking to her.
She shakes her head as she suddenly finds herself able to focus on the others in the room. "I think Grandma is under attack...she says to watch out." She comes to her feet and starts for she finds that she does not have any weapons upon herself. "Trouble is coming." For some reason she believes the voice in her head.
[Sorry about no posting. Been rather busy lately.]
Rosario Sunday December 30th, 2007 11:09:56 PM
Rosario remains right where he is. Bendis was getting worked up enough for the both of them. Then Zita says just about the one thing he does not want to hear. "Nonna?" he more mouths than speaks. Rosario bolts for his bed and more specifically the armor laid across the foot of it. Hopefully there would be enough time to get the Chain shirt on and fastened. He begins to strap it up as fast as he can. (Donning hastily 5 rounds)
Julien Monday December 31st, 2007 1:01:58 AM
After a desperate and not altogether successful attempt to keep a smirk off his face at Bendis's hiding behind the curtain remark, he realises that something else he said might very well be a wise move.
"It actually might be a good idea if we were somewhere we were not expected to be. Even if its just in a different room."
Picci Monday December 31st, 2007 5:22:23 PM
The petite acolyte's obsidian eyes widen, then she immediately reaches out towards Zita, murmuring an invocation that Gigi finds familiar, as it is a divine orison. Zita feels Picci's small hand warm upon her forearm. (OOC: Picci's just cast Guidance on Zita.)
"The gods of the Wold will protect you if you need it or guide your hand should that be preferred." Picci tells her, then retrieves both her shield and her mace in preparation for something that might arrive all-too-soon.
Zita Monday December 31st, 2007 7:32:49 PM
Without little more though she heads for her own bed and pulls back the curtain. Laying out on her bed is all her weapons and armor. She does not glance to the others as she quickly changes into her armor, her belt with rapier soon joining. "I do not plan to let you all fight for me...but you can fight alongside me." She glances to each person in turn and then gives a smile. "As such...I will fight alongside all of you as well." They are family and she is duty bound to protect them as much as they are to protect her. She groans, with a smile upon her face, as she realizes this has been something that her mother has told her on many occassions.
As she comes back over to stand with the others she looks to the room in general. She starts to make note of windows, doors and their positions. Large dressers and other things that could be turned into a quick blockade are also running through her mind. "Farce...your lessons are starting to rub off on me." She knows that this is something that Farce is always telling her...look for defenses that will buy you time and give you the advantage.
OOC by Donna: Jim, I just peeked at your sheet for Zita--you're probably going to want to revisit the height for her because you have her at only four feet six inches, and yet have described her as a tall girl. At 4'6" she'd be shorter than Picci and way under the normal height a fifteen-year-old human female would be.
Picci Tuesday January 1st, 2008 5:45:49 PM
The raven-maned girl thinks for a moment, and then also hastily digs out her studded leather armor in order to put it on. Hopefully, however, she won't need it.
Bendis Tuesday January 1st, 2008 6:16:40 PM
With the others getting ready for battle, the dwarf has a sudden thought. He flips through his spell book, finds what he is looking for, and then fishes out a short twist of copper wire from his component pouch.
With a couple of coughs, ums and inaudible mumblings, Bendis casts his spell, and though he looks a little nervous the words of power he speaks are clear and forceful. Then he points his finger at each person in the room, and whispers;
"I hope we don't need this, but- well, better safe than sorry. If we get split up for any reason, or if (Alemi forbid) Zita is captured, any of you can whisper to me, and if I'm within a hundred feet I'll hear you. Um, if you want a message passed to anyone else, whisper it to me and I can pass your message on to whoever you want. Like I say, hopefully we won't need it, but, well, you know..."
Though you can see Bendis is merely whispering the words, you hear him speaking as clearly as if he were right by your side, talking normally.
(OOC: Casting Message. Then, assuming he has enough time, he will ready his Charm Person spell again.)
Listen Child [DM Jerry] Tuesday January 1st, 2008 6:48:09 PM
The ring is silent and Fabersham removes his hand from the area, having failed.
Again, he says, "Listen child. Ziti, take off the ring. It may be dangerous. Take it off now."
------------
Zita Tuesday January 1st, 2008 9:25:33 PM
Zita shrugs but reaches up to take off the earring, though she is not sure about it. Looking to the others she just shrugs and will drop it on the table, if it comes off.

Bendis Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 6:20:22 AM
Bendis flips back to his Charm Person spell and stands ready to cast should someone forcibly enter the room.
He glances anxiously from face to face, marvelling at how these young folks are taking things so well. No panic, no nerves, just steely resolve, decisive action and a determination to protect their friend. Bendis wishes he shared their sense of self-assurance.
(OOC: Charm Person readied against any potential foe that appears).
Rosario Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 11:56:17 AM
Rosario either continues to fasten his Chain shirt or if finfished with that, returns to stand at the wall of the door. To Zita he nods his agreement to Fabersham's statement. He chest moves in and out quickly, despite his innedr attempts to calm himself. Practice was practice, but this could become very real very quickly and his adrenaline was in overdrive.
Picci Wednesday January 2nd, 2008 12:01:15 PM
Picci bites her lip as she slips into her studded leather armor--she doesn't like the idea that Nonna is somewhere out there being attacked. She is not any too fond of the idea that Zita may be next.
As soon as her armor is in place, she affixes her shield to her arm and scoops up her mace...
'Gosh...I hope I don't actually have to use this...' the petite female thinks, eying the weapon as she goes to Zita's side.
