((A note on Gunther's find, and my bad - I should have put this in my last post - it's an eicosahedron, a twenty sided round object, heavy, dense, metal, maybe 40lbs in weight but only 9" in diameter. Each of the twenty sides are covered in runes.))
Over by the tree, water pools then soaks into the ground surrounding the trunk, and after a few moment, the druid can see tiny green leaves beginning to sprout on some of the charred branches. The tree appears to be breathing almost, gathering strength.
Over by the rest of the group, Lian shakes the man's hand. Just gut instinct - there is no sense of anger at Lian's earlier accusations, no fear. No emotion really, at all. When asked, another citizen says "Er, yeah, I suppose, yes. He told us not to be afraid." The man glances at Krasnaya then says no more.
Krasnaya replies to K'Nara, "Well, I think we'd got to the point where we knew we couldn't anything by ourselves. Maybe the next stage would have been to come and see you." He smiles.
No sign of anything in the skies. Yet.
Magics emanating from the palace indicate some kind of mid-level protections that Ingrge would expect of a place like this.
Gunther's object? It's a mixture of summoning and holding magic. Very strong. Very high level. Strong enough for even Gunther, Milo and Falin to feel a slight tingle from it. It might need further study.
The ex-mop guards appear from around the corner. They're accompanied by the still gruntled chef who seems determined to get some answers. "What's going on?" he bellows, cleaver still in hand. Then he catches sight of the dead dragon. The sight seems to knock some of the wind out of him.
((You know, I'd forgotten about the Challege game issue. I'll mention it again to Jerry.))
Athalorn Thursday January 3rd, 2008 4:50:32 AM
Athalorn watches with delight the strength return to the Ancient Tree. He continues speaking with the spirit when he feels it is ready to do so. "Great Spirit of the Culver, can we aid you in any other way? What is the purpose of you leaving the great forest?"
Lian Thursday January 3rd, 2008 9:33:10 AM
The elf raises a quizical eyebrow. Looking from the citizen back to their 'savior', Lian asks, "So, Krasnaya was it? why is it that this fine..." He points to the citizen, "...person seems almost afraid to speak in your presence? You have SOME sort of hold here, even if you aren't a dragon playing human. You show very little emotion in the fact that we have rid you of a third of your problems. No gratitude. I mean to say, most people who have been dealing with a bad situation for awhile generally give even a small thanks when it is cleared up."
Lian then calls the Mop guards to the group. "Have any of you ever seen this man before? He calls himself Krasnaya."
"Krasnaya... that means Red Star or something, up north doesn't it?"
Falin AC 23 HP 70 Thursday January 3rd, 2008 2:17:35 PM
Falin shakes of the feeling of power from the device off the neck of the dead dragon.
"We need to make ready for the coming attack. I hate to nag, but I am going to head in and look for a good spot to fire from. We should have the guards and the elves begin to evacuate people from around the palace. We may not get all of them out, but we can move some of them."
He looks around for a moment. "Maybe if there is another tall building around here we could catch them in a crossfire."

"I'm afraid you're going to have to edit the figurines on the wedding cake." she tells him. "The bride's late...as in she is now the late Enuril." She turns to the other Emerald Dragons.
"If we have the time, I want anyone who needs it healed up using the wands if possible." K'Nara says. "We also need to track down where Nikolai is...and Parnoth, too, I suppose, but it's Nikolai that I want first." She spies Gunther with the...very odd object in his hands.
"What in the Wold is that, Ingrge..?" K'Nara asks of the elven weapon mage, not knowing exactly what to make of the item. She furrows her brow, wondering if she can draw on Bardic Knowledge to even guess at what it is or its purpose...(OOC: made a Bard Knowledge check with a total of 12 as the result.)

Taking a closer look at Gunther's object Knowledge arcana DC 36 - Ingrge peers closely at it looks at Gunther and quickly asks.
"Gunther, is this what was around the dragon's neck? And you touched it? And brought it near us? Are you crazy? Do you know what you have done?"
<< dramatic pause>>
Probably nothing at this point, at least you probably won't die anyway.
Without waiting for any answers he turns back to the others.
"K'nara I don't know for certain, but I would be willing t guess that this is Parnoth's second artifact that controls his hidden beasts and was what she used to set those ones on us earlier."
Feeling Gunther's eyes about to pop out of his head and thinking about causing greivious bodily harm to him, Ingrge turns back towards the big man.
Gunther, Don't do what you are thinking about doing. I am sorry, I shouldn't have done that, but it was just too hard to resist and you looked sooo serious.
Gunther Friday January 4th, 2008 12:05:32 AM
The warrior starts and beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead as he stammers. "I....you...it...die?!!" Looking on the verge of cardiac arrest, it takes the warrior a couple of seconds to register that Ingrge is only playing with him.
His face breaking out once more into a full ear to ear grin, the cat trainer burst into laughter. "Hahahah...dat vas a goot von! And to tink, Milo said you had no sense of humor!!" Feeling much better he looks over at K'nara. "Vell...do ve vat for dem to attack or do ve go on a dragon hunt?"

In front of the palace, the branches on the ancient tree come alive, stretching and sprouting leaves. The ground immediately beneath it seems to rumble slightly, as roots push downward into the earth. It takes a slow breath, carbon dioxide in, oxygen out. "I am here to witness," it says through the rustle of newly grown leaves. "Witness justice, and the freeing of Culverwood."
Milo approaches Falin. "If we look inside the palace, there might be some clues as to where the dragons are. I can try and disable any magical traps that await us." One of the elves from the group of bowmen approaches. "What do you want us to do?"
The palace is the tallest building in town. Sat on top of a small hill, it's also the highest.
As Ingrge looks over the artifact, his experience and knowledge lead him to believe that he is indeed correct about the thing - that it IS one of the talismens. K'Nara might remember the other one when it was in the Tines hands. This one is different in shape.
Mop's guards are noncommital about Krasnaya. "We havent seen this gentleman about town, but I don't know if you've noticed - Mop was very high maintenance. We didn't have time to notice anything." They gather around Bertram, waiting orders.
"Doesn't this mean anything to you?" Krasnaya points out his WLA lapel pin to Lian. "It's a guarantee of trust." The man appears to be getting a little tetchy. The other citizen stood alongside his catches Lian's eye. He says nothing, but he firmly glances away. Twice.
So! What is the next step? Two dragons on the loose! And right now, none of them in plain sight!
Athalorn Friday January 4th, 2008 2:51:30 AM
Still speaking with the Ancient Tree while the Dragons discuss their next step, Athalorn waits for the rumble to cease before continuing. "You wish to see the death of Parnoth? Is this what the prophecy foretells? That we should kill him?"
Lian Friday January 4th, 2008 5:15:21 AM Krasnaya "Doesn't this mean anything to you?" Krasnaya points out his WLA lapel pin to Lian. In response to Krasnaya's inquiry, "Nope, nothing. I heard of a WLA member in the Taur Isles who lost their badge due to theft and near murder. Badges change hands. Signs of authority mean little to me. Respect and trust must be earned. Not simply expected."

Once Ingrge has his little joke with Gunther, K'Nara blinks in disbelief.
"Ingrge," she says in a controlled voice, "I swear to the gods that I will slice your ears off myself if you're kidding me...this is Parnoth's version of that other artifact?" When the weapon mage nods, the leader of the Emerald Dragons suddenly has a grin that stretches from ear to ear. Gunther loves THIS grin, because it's clearly not a very nice one...no, this grin bodes very eeeevil things with it.
Evil being relative, of course.
"Ingrge, secure that...that...Runic Hedron, willya?" K'Nara says, pulling a name for the artifact out of the blue. "We do NOT want it to fall back into the wrong claws." K'Nara's eyes flicker to the redhead claiming to be a WLA rep.
"You're WLA?" she asks. "Fine. We need to find Nikolai the Red. And Parnoth the Green. In that order, preferably. Can you help with that?"

Bert's spell flows through the group, knitting cuts, staunching blood, paling bruises.
As for the nearby ancient tree, it takes to whispering. Its voices are now many, and are hidden amongst the leaves. "Parnoth's will should be the same as ours." "But it isn't." "But it should be." "It must be." "He won't listen." "He must!" "Or he will perish." "The forest rules, here." "The forest rules, or he dies." "Or he bends." "He won't bend." "Then he dies." "Tell him."
The tree gives out a sigh that resonates in the ground beneath everyone's feet. And for a moment, it feels as though that sigh is answered and amplified by the distant line of trees to the north.
The Dragons appear to have a significant find on their hands. It's implications are obvious to those who have lived under Parnoth's awful threat, should any harm come to him.
As for Krasnaya, no one seems to be able to ruffle his 'cool'. He does appear to hold a superior attitude, which could mean anything. "If you're looking for dragons," he says evenly. "I'm guessing that Parnoth is in his lair, up the hill there."
No sounds coming from the palace, as yet.
K'Nara (AC33; 141/143hp; Prt. from Fire) Monday January 7th, 2008 3:53:37 PM
"Parnoth in his lair. Thanks." K'Nara snorts, turning from the WLA rep and looking to the personnel that just escaped from the palace. "Before we...present ourselves to Parnoth to break the bad news about his bride to him, is there anyone here who's seen Nikolai, knows where that red dragon is, or--at least--tell us what he's looking like these days..?" K'Nara can only recall how the drake looked in dragon form and has no idea how Nikolai looks in humanoid form.
Athalorn Monday January 7th, 2008 4:24:55 PM
"Many thanks, Great Spirit. We will speak with the Dragon and speak the message." Athalorn turns to his gathered companions, and relays the conversation he has just had with the tree. "To Parnoth now? Or shall we search for the Red, Nikolai, whose head we must also take?"

DM Jan Tuesday January 8th, 2008 8:17:24 PM A thick tail covered in green scales sweeps over a pile of gold coins, causing them to scatter and shift like a wave amongst the treasure pile. Even here, tiny twists of growth, roots pushing down through the rock, hang from the ceiling as the might of Culverwood keeps pushing, pushing, pushing. It was a conspiracy, of course. They were all together - the adventurers, the red dragons, the forest, even Mop had deserted him. Did not one of them understand? Not one? Of course they didn't. Massive talons splay out and then curl into a solid, heavy fist. Time to play. Coins formerly embedded in scales clatter noisily onto the pile and displaced air conjurs a breeze through the cavern. In place of a dragon, a well dressed man is now stood - middle aged, broad-chested and tall, with glittering green eyes and a full head of sandy red hair. Pale features bear signs of a brewing inner storm. A slight twist of the fingers, and he is gone.
"It was just a guess," Krasnaya says to Ingrge. No one seems to know the wearabouts of Nikoli, or what he looks like. If suspicions are correct, the dragon has been clever about it; if they're incorrect, a potential ally is being given one heck of an attitude.
Milo's practiced eye senses a trap just inside the palace entrance way. But before he can do anything about it, there is a sound - a deafening bellow of outrage from within. There is someone inside who doesn't seemed too pleased. It is loud enough for everyone else to hear.
"Er, what now?" he asks the others.

There is a moment, as Bert and the guards approach Krasnaya, when there is a distinct possibility of things going sour right outside the palace door. The man's eyes narrow. His nostrils flare. That moment is averted as K'Nara tells Bert to hold off. The man's eyes linger on Bert's axe for a moment, then shift toward Ingrge. He nods. "I'll do that," he tells the scarred elven wizard, his voice even and unruffled, and he backs off. The other citizens are eager to follow him, the bellow coming from the interior of the palace having put paid to any previous bravado on their part.
With Kras and the local folk retreating, in front of the palace are K'Nara, Gunther, Falin, Bert and Ingrge, the ex-mop guards, the palace chef and his assistant, and the elven archers. And a dead red dragon. Athalorn has a good view from up top, can can see them approach the entrance.
Just inside, Milo approaches an inner archway. He signals back to Lian, and Lian's detect magic reveals a border of runes going right up the side and across the archway - some kind of incendiary magic.
However - the magic appears to wink off abruptly, as if blown out like a candle. There are footsteps, and from around a corner in the interior, a tall, impressively built man appears. Parnoth's current human face appears quite thunderous. And an odd thing - he is carrying a charred human skull in each hand.
He looks at Milo. He looks at Lian. He looks at Olana. He looks beyond at the others approaching. He then hurls one of the skulls forward. The object flies past Olana, Lian and Milo like a rocket, and lands on the steps, right at K'Nara's feet.
"Who did that?" Parnoth bellows angrily. "Who??"
The palace chef drops his cleaver. He and his assistant share a glance. "So that's why the town elders didn't want breakfast," says the chef in a small voice.

Parnoth gives Olana, Lian and Milo a cold look as he walks past, head tilting occasionally toward those who speak. And he doesn't have anything warmer for those outside, either.
His eyes flip casually toward the roof of the palace, taking in the eagle, and he comes to stand alongside K'nara and Ingrge, looking out past the ancient tree, the fountain and toward the dead dragon. "Hmmm," he says, the other toasted skull still tucked under one arm, his clawed hand tucked close to his torso.
Bert notes that the guards have spread out as instructed, but they're starting to back up warily and are glancing uneasily at one another. The chef and his assistant look about to have a heart attack on the spot. The elves are quickly dashing toward and behind Falin, their eyes a mixture of hatred and horror. Athalorn can see the dire wolf has dashed north and is currently stood sheltered in the shadow of one of the buildings where she can still see what's happening.
The is no fear in this man stood in their midst. Gunther recognises the same attitude he saw in Borden. If there were any uncertainty, any hesitation, any fear, any doubt about what he was, who he was - it was all wiped clean and clear. Of course right now he looks like some tough, son of a tarrasque human, a leige lord with a very expensive arm appendage, firmly in charge of his domain. To anyone who hasn't seen him before, there is no inkling of his true form.
"Nikolai?" he says eventually, his tone almost polite. Under the circumstances, he seems to be taking things awfully well. He sniffs the air and smiles. "That's funny. You know, you asking where he is, and me being able to smell him." His voice hardens and he glares at the Dragon leader. "Right here, I smell his stench. It's right here. Perhaps it should be me asking all the questions, especially with all this mess on my front lawn. You all teaming up on me, K'nara? Hmmm? What did you have in mind? Or is it a surprise?"

"I'm not laughing, Parnoth--I'll be the first to admit I'd love nothing better than to personally slice you into bite-size pieces and give the stray animals of the city their first decent meal in the few hundred years or so that you've...and I use the term very loosely...'ruled' the kingdom...but...I wouldn't want to held responsible for mass poisoning.
"I'd consider myself quite justified--you've tried on two different and very memorable occasions to kill me, and I tend to take that rather personally...but you, at least, kept your murderous attentions to me alone. In that, at least, you were honorable. Nikolai, on the other hand, dared to come to the Saryd Tower--conveniently while most of my family and I were being inducted into the Dragon Consortium. He invaded our home, robbed it of our family's possessions, and--worst of all--murdered treasured members of our family." The seething leader of the group now known as the Emerald Dragons bares her teeth in rage...anger focused not on Parnoth, but on the red dragon of whom she speaks.
"And now you dare to ask me if I would ally myself with that cowardly piece of pandryl pydol??? I'm inclined to run you through for even thinking that! However..." Here the tall human blade singer suddenly smiles (as opposed to baring her teeth), "...I am in need of a favor from you--you see, being merely human, I cannot smell a red dragon, nor tell him when he's in his shapechanged form. Can you please, please, pretty please point him out so that I and my group can send him to join his brothers and sister in the Lands of Rest...assuming that a pandryl pydol such as he actually goes there?"
K'Nara adds a flutter of eyelashes with her request, in spite of the fact that her right hand clenches the hilt of the still-bloodied bastard sword as though she is seriously restraining herself from carrying out her threat of slicing and dicing the great Green Tyrant of the Emerald Kingdom.
OOC: in case it is needed, K'Nara is making a voluntary Diplomacy/Intimidate/Bluff check in an effort to make Parnoth see reason...the result is 20.)

"Is Nikolai here Greenie?" The monk looks around.
"We simply want to congradualate Nikolai on a coup well done. You've lost your rocker and we think Nikolai would make a better king for the kingdom. Hey, a sane king, though evil, is better than one who has lost his touch. Osto! I mean really, that dung heap? We at least have an idea where he stands, being evil that is. We thought you had your kingdom under control, but you let in this userper without a thought. So step aside and let him show himself as true ruler, Parnoth."
Yes, the monk has stepped over the line he usually avoids entirely, but things need resolving. Diplomacy is not one of Lian's strong points.
Brother Bertram Friday January 11th, 2008 1:36:33 PM
Bertram catches the signs of his men backing away uneasily. He starts to bark at them but realizes they were not here to take on Parnoth and relaxes. He turns back to the leader and whispers quietly, "You have all acted honorably, This is not your fight my friends, Go with Domi all your days. If you ever make your way back to our home know that you are welcome". He turns back fingering his axe. Not pointing it at anyone but ready if need be. He looks at Parnoth's human form with great interest.

(OOC: Sorry about missing last night's post. My father was admitted to the hospital last night and had surgery this morning. He is in recovery now, so....)
Ingrge eyes Parnoth from his position in the back and then turning his back on him quickly casts a spell and almost immediately a 20 foot cube force cage springs up around the Red-headed Krasnaya.
Force cage - no save, no spell resistance.
Gunther Friday January 11th, 2008 11:50:09 PM
Whoa!! That guy knows how to make an entrance!
Gunther stops mid track when he hears Parnoth talking about smelling Nicolai. The Force Cage pops into existence around that Krasnaya fellow and Gunther blinks. He spins on his heels and heads in that direction...now thoroughly confused. One thing was certain, between K'nara and Ingrge, somebody will point me in the right direction.

Olana steps back out of the palace entrance, warily following in the footsteps of Parnoth but trying to keep a safe distance, and hopes Milo is doing the same.
Her head is full of all kinds of emotions as she listens; trying oh-so-very-hard not to laugh at what Lian has said, all the while wondering whether she should bash him on the head to make him shut up. If Parnoth was nuts, then anything could set him off. And he hated elves, anyway.
The close proximity of Nikolai however, brings her more into focus.

DM Jan Monday January 14th, 2008 1:44:01 PM
Parnoth's lofty demeanor appears to suffer a little, as he stands there for a moment, blinking rapidly after the verbal exchange. Then something happens to get everyone's attention. Back along the avenue, approximately 70 ft away from the group, Krasnaya and some of the other citizens have been beating a retreat along the avenue away from the palace. ZING! A glowing force cage appears right in the midst of them, capturing Kras and two of the other citizens.
Parnoth's uncertainty disappears, and a rather awful smile appears on his face. "Invaded your home, did you say? Robbed you of your possessions? In my Kingdom?" He nods assertively, and drops the now forgotten remaining skull on the ground. "For that, and for that alone, I shall allow you to kill him. Oh, yes I will."
Athalorn has the best view. The two captured citizens in the cage are screaming in fright. Not so Krasnaya. A thin worm of green light streaks from one of his fingers, and the front side of the cage crumbles like dead leaves. the tall, read-headed man steps forth, and begins to change.
It's fast. A sharp crack of bones. A snap of huge, blood red wings.

"Hello, my name is K'Nara Illutu..." she says as she narrows her eyes at the revealed drake, "...you might remember me..? I'm the human your brother choked to death on! I'm the human whose family you killed! I'm one of the Emerald Dragons who are about to stomp you into primordial paste, you cowardly little pydol!!!" This is what the monk was waiting for. "As you wish, my king!" The elf leers at Parnoth (though he knows that this will be a short lived partnership) and rushes Kras. "I knew you were that coward Nikolai."
"For Domi! For the Kingdom!" His hands light up with emerald flames.
He debates taking the glue from Knara, but decides against it, holding his hand out for a mere moment to Knara... gluing himself to a angry dragon might be fun, but today is no the time to test the theory. Looking like a flapping gerbil glued to a wagon wheel would be embarrassing.

A huge red dragon now stands in the middle of the avenue before the palace. Dragon AC 40
Lian is a blur, dashing up to the fully formed Nikoli and giving him a sharp punch in the gut, while Athalorn attempts to bring the dragon down to size in an altogether different manner. The airborne druid's spell rolls off the massive beast's hide, but Ingrge's follow up is successful, and the beast takes the full brunt of the cold spell. Falin's arrows also hammer home.
With an angry scream, blistering hot flame shoots forth from the dragon's maw in a 60 ft cone. It hits all those who have moved forward from their original position, or had to be 60ft or within to hurl their spells - Bert Gunther Athalorn Olana Ingrge Falin The Ancient tree, 7 elves and 6 of the guards, also get it. Lian misses it by virtue of being right up alongside the dragon. However Lian was in the path of Ingrge's Cone of Cold and needs to make the necessary saves and evasive moves to prevent taking the full 78 HPs damage. (Reflex dc 28?)
Parnoth gives a low rumble as the air becomes so abruptly dry it seems to strip a layer of moisture off the skin. he looks at the ancient tree that has now burst into flames once more. "This is what you get when you play with dragons," he tells it. Then he starts walking south.
The water in the fountain is now boiling, and scalding steam is rising from within it.

He'd had his back partially turned as he was striding away. After all, no sense in enduring that red's foul breath any more than he had to. Let them all kill one another. Perfect. Those who didn't die, he'd finish off. He could enlist a new group of adventurers, yes, and hone and fashion them personally to his way of thinking. And let that ancient tree burn, too. A sharp lesson to Culverwood and its fanciful notions that it was the power here. Hah! Here, he held the reins of the power! He was finding strength in this, amidst the fire and the chaos and the battle. Now his mind was perfectly clear, and it was time for a fresh start. Oh, this was indeed a day of reckoning, a day when all doubts would be washed aside. A day when -
A sharp, sudden pain splits his thoughts, and sends them skittering off on another track, his bold aspirations now curled up into a whisper laced with dread. Ah, those elves. Why did he despise them so much? Because he knew, didn't he. He knew all this time, through all these passing centuries, that they would be his undoing. He feels a slight, blossoming sensation in his lower back, something malevolent, turning sour and trying to get a grip. It fails. It fails as he knew it would, and he smiles. He turns, pure instinct giving him the direction of his assailant. Oh, little elf, I shall pin you with a claw, I shall slowly pull off your arms and legs, one by one, then disembowel you and hang you screaming from the palace wall. And I shall do the same to the others, and from there you will all see the forest burn. All of it. I will tolerate no more.
In the midst of the battle against Nikoli, Falin's bow has been aimed elsewhere and the first two arrows hit their mark. Parnoth stops in midstride. He turns. There is a smile on his face, and awful, terrible smile. Still in human form, he takes a step toward the elven bowman.
Then he stops. And abruptly drops to his knees.
A short distance away, the flames coursing through the branches of the ancient tree change colour, becoming green.
Meanwhile!
Poor Athalorn's remains fall lightly to the ground accompanied by a wisp of black smoke. In the midst of death agony, the druid feels himself pulled sharply downward toward the ground, enabling him to see his own tiny corpse drop toward him, before everything turns black.
Lian does his best to keep pummeling Nikoli's hide, while Ingrge hurls another devastating cone of cold at the ice-vulnerable beast. ((Saved for half dam.)) Olana fires, and both Bert and Gunther give it their all, and along with Lian discover the creature has one heck of a tough hide. The only significant threat right now appear to be Ingrge's spells and Falin's arrows.
K'Nara assesses the distances and reckons that in order to be accurate, she needs to be closer. ((Donna, thats a thrown 70' called shot. Use that last round to get your distance, unless K'Nara can throw 70' in any case.))
Distracted by what is happening with Parnoth, Milo sets off in the direction of old greenie, daggers at the ready.
Nikoli brings up a bony arm of a wing and sweeps it rapidly toward Gunther. Hits AC 55 for 15 dam
The dragon then does it's level best to stomp on those harrying it at ground level, namely Lian and Bertram. Hits Lian Ac 54 for 17 Dam Hits Bert AC 59 for 17 Dam
From his position, Gunther can see enormous muscles flexing and bunching across the dragon's back. It's getting ready for take off. So it can gain some advantage, so it can use that breath weapon again.

K'Nara (AC33; 141/143hp; Prt. from Fire) d20+25=42 d20+25=42 d20+25=33 d10+9=13 d10+9=18 d10+9=12 Wednesday January 16th, 2008 8:41:06 PM In order to have made her throw, then, K'Nara would have had to move and then throw, as she needs to be within fifty feet of a target at a minimum.
Thinking quickly, K'Nara sees that she is too far away to simply toss the vial, so she activates her Boots of Speed instead, trying not to let her horror and anger overwhelm her as Athalorn's eagle form is charred before the entire group.
Then she charges Nikolai, her bastard sword flashing briefly as it catches a ray of sun on her approach, the blade singer's scream of defiance and outrage absorbed by the spell of Silence that she carries with her.
OOC: I'm doing this more or less on the fly as I have Real Life issues looming right now--I rolled for K'Nara, her charge hits AC42 and qualifies as a Crit Hit for her sword; the Crit Hit roll also hits AC42, so I rolled a third possible attack roll which hits AC33. The damages are as follows: Charge hit does 13hpd; 1st Crit Hit adds another 18hpd and the 2nd Crit Hit, if it hits Nikolai's AC, would add another 12hpd.

Olana keeps firing, hoping something will hit, but she's ultimately outclassed by the dragon's thick hide.

Teeth chatter as the cone explodes into his body, and Gunther grunts as the wing slams into him. Fly away...fly away and save yourself!! The primal part of his brain viciously protests for self preservation. But the others are counting on him... Grabbing a hold of the dragon, Gunther activates his healing tattoo, healing a little of the damage done to him.
If the dragon is in between Gunther and the cone
Growling in anger, the warrior brings his sword down in rapid succession on the dragon. Only one strike is able to penetrate the creature's thick hide doing minimal damage. (AC42 for 18)

The Emerald Dragons continue their bloody and brutal assault.
Another spell from Ingrge snakes across the creature's hide, while Lian, Olana and Gunther do their utmost to wear him down. K'Nara's firey blade slams hard into the dragon's chest, adding to bitter, cruel and decisive arrow wounds. Scales brittle with ice damage crack and snap, as Nikoli the red dragon rears up, and his enormous wingspan stretches across the avenue, putting nearly everything into shadow. Brother Bertram tries to get a grip as Nikoli takes to the air, but his hands slip, and the beast rises with a terrifying scream that sets everyone's ears ringing.
But it's too late. Blood belches forth from the dragon's ruined chest, and a partially disintegrated wing fails to carry the great dragon any further than the palace. He's already dead as he drops right on top of the building, and the roof, unable to bear the weight, caves in with a splintering crash. The palace walls bend inward, and for a moment it almost looks as though the palace is trying to swallow the great body of the dragon. But in the fog of rising dust and debris, both palace and dragon are in ruin.
In the palace forecourt, the ancient tree still burns - hotter and hotter - the flames are a brilliant emerald green. About 25 feet to the south of it, Parnoth is still on his knees.
He appears to be struggling, and the two arrows in his back appear to have split and grown vine-like tendrils that are stretching and embedding themselves into the ground. Having gained purchase, they seem hell bent on pulling him backward toward the earth.
Parnoth, still in human form, falls back, and his hand and gold claw spread frantically across the ground as he tries to regain his balance. "Help me!" he barks.
Back out on the avenue, the huge dire wolf pads softly away from her refuge and comes to sit quietly alongside Athalorn's corpse.

Falin, hair singed from the fire attack, is oblivious to all that is going on around him. Only that Parnoth is now struggling against some unknown force. Perhaps the forest itself has had enough of the menace he was. Falin approaches and knocks an arrow, "Parnoth", says Falin calmly, "If I ever thought you could change I might help you, but you have hurt and destroyed too much. I have no choice but to help you along on this new chapter of your life." He fires into the man known as Parnoth, his eyes devoid of any feeling.

K'Nara (AC33; 141/143hp; Prt. from Fire) d100=23 Thursday January 17th, 2008 1:12:52 PM
Unaware of Parnoth's plight, K'Nara stands, panting as she eyes the corpse of the red dragon that had taken so much from her family--from the group of people now known as the Emerald Dragons--and then she spits in the general direction of the drake's corpse. The brilliant emerald flames that are consuming the great animated tree catch her eye next: another death to add to Nikolai's overfull tally--unless...
K'Nara kneels, putting the bespelled bottle of Sovereign Glue on the ground and then stands, walking quickly out of the range of the spell (towards the ruined palace) as she uses her newly-freed hand to poke into the top of her magic haversack. When she removes her hand from it, there is a beaten-up old brass lamp in it, which she proceeds to rub using her right forearm--K'Nara can't use her right hand, as it still has Lucia within it, streaked with the blood of the Hands of Love cleric as well as the gore from Nikolai.
OOC: I assume we are still in combat rounds as Falin is finishing off Parnoth (ouchies!)--if this is the case, then K'Nara may only get as far as moving and getting out the lamp. The rubbing of the lamp and the subsequent summoning of the efreet within may take additional time...however, K'Nara got a 23 to see if she gets an insane efreet or 3 wishes--meaning it's just a "run-of-the-mill" efreet this time.
Lian (AC 34+1, Hps 77/94, End Ele,Pro Fire) d20+19=31 4d6(1+1+3+4)+3=12 Thursday January 17th, 2008 1:17:13 PM
Deactivates boots.
"I have to agree with our friend Falin." Says the monk, who is approaching Parnoth. "I believe it was the Tines who gave you the first chance, the Plats who gave the second and took you claw as warning... now, it'll be the Emeralds, the true Greens of this Kingdom, who take the life a true tyrant. I am sorry it have come to this."
The elven hand of Domi comes to a stop in front of Parnoth. What's about to happen is nothing less than Lian would expect of Parnoth... brutality, and humiliation. Is this right? Not knowing what actually transpired. No, he wouldn't hesitate to destroy us. Thinks the elf. "Your old Parnoth. Beaten. Have Courage." He smiles then clobbers Parnoth in the head. (AC 31, for 12 damage)
Then more arrows thud into him. The monk flinchs at the sound.
Brother Bertram AC38 HP 116 Thursday January 17th, 2008 6:22:43 PM
Bertram approaches not sure if Parnoth can even hear him anymore. "Parnoth even the most evil can be saved if they believe". Bertram lays his head on the blooded head of Parnoth and prays to Domi for the green dragon's soul such as it was.
Olana Thursday January 17th, 2008 7:33:53 PM
Olana ducks as the dragon crashes into the palace. But by the looks of things, it isn't over yey and she approaches the Parnoth situation warily, bow still ready.
"What's going on?" she asks, a worried frown on her face.
Ingrge AC 28: HP102/102: Protection 97/120: Arcane sight, See invisibility: SR 20 Thursday January 17th, 2008 9:26:54 PM
Seeing the Parnoth situation is in someone's hands, Ingrge calls over to Bertram.
"Brother Bertram, I don't suppose you would happen to have a ressurection spell handy for our fallen comrade?"
"K'nara you want I should go inside and see if he's really dead?"
Gunther (AC34 vs. Nickolia (Dodge), HP32/118 or 99/118) Pro. from Fire 0/120, Fly) Thursday January 17th, 2008 11:03:52 PM
The warrior blinks as the red drops to the ground dead. And just when things were getting fun... With a little huff he floats down to take a look at the red when he hears Ingrge's comment. In all the commotion he hadn't caught sight of Athalorn, let alone been made aware of his fate. His face crumbling like a worn statue, Gunther runs over to his fallen comrade, his eyes filling with tears.
