Kadaz
Sunday February 3rd, 2008 1:00:32 PM

Kadaz also places an order for some simple furniture -- a bed, desk & chair, and wardrobe, all sized for a dwarf. And a matching doggie bed for Birdie. This should be all he needs for now. He isn't in a rush for any of this, when Lynil gets to it is fine.

Kadaz also has a suggestion for the trip. "We have a very rough map with a location marked. I think we should visit a mapmaker to see if we can purchase a better map of the area, showing trails and roads, nearby towns and outposts, swamps, known dangers, and whatever else may affect our travel. This should decrease the chance we get lost or run into dangers we could have avoided. And when we get close maybe hire a local guide?" Kadaz asks around for a good mapmaker and tries to buy a decent map to guide their travels.

(OOC: I too vote for changing our name to The Mithril Order.")

Kirsten
Sunday February 3rd, 2008 9:15:00 PM

(( OOC: The Mithril Order sounds good to me too! ))

Kirsten will prepare as best she can with the others. She nods when she hears Kadaz's suggestion.

"I think hiring a mapmaker is an excellent idea. The last thing we need is to get lost somewhere, and I'm certainly not any sort of... navigator."

Arm
Monday February 4th, 2008 6:05:03 AM

Thinking back to how they nearly got lost when looking for Frost Ginnie, Arm agrees with the rest, "Yes, a 'second opinion' on the map would be best. That way, it will show us topographical information that ours does not. I don't know if hiring a guide is a good idea, though..from past experience, we don't know who we can trust now, and you never know if the 'guide' is a doppelganger. Even though Birdie can sniff them out, they MAY be working for them.".

OOC: Count me in for the Mithril Order :)

Shadow
Monday February 4th, 2008 7:13:47 AM

OOC: I am also on board with Mithril Order. Shadow did say that he would not take the boots and handed over the money to Thar for the ring. (on the 29th post).

IC: "We should probably get another opinion on the map." Shadow says as he gets his gear ready fr another trip away from Plateau City.

Thar ailL Baerer
Monday February 4th, 2008 9:17:16 AM

(OOC = Sounds like it is unanimous for the Mithril Order! Count me in! On the other hand, Julian, I have three kids and don't want us to be any more "fertile" than we already are!)

Thar says "Sounds like the cart and pony is a better idea!" While his friends find a cart and pony, Thar will try to finish his Catacombs transaction and gather a few weeks of rations for the rest of the group. "I can do some hunting while we're out and that can help feed us too. The map's a geat idea also. The more info we have, the better.'"

Once finished with his preparations, he says "I'm ready to go whenever you all are."

(OOC = DM Jim = I am going to upgrade my Periapt of Wisdom to +4 and change my +2 Stud Leath armor to +2 Elv Chain mail. Is that OK?)

Day to leave. (DM Jim)
Monday February 4th, 2008 9:41:30 PM

The Mithtril Order has been about their duties for the past week and finally have things put together. The last thing that you decide to do is get a better map of the surrounding area.

The easiest and quickest way to do this, as some know, is to visit the WLA. They have a wide selection of maps and the like that you know are up to date. It is not a problem as the Chronicler of the WLA is more than happy to have a look at your map and supply you with a copy of the one they have. When he gives it back to you, you find that he has not only made a copy of their map but also added the location that is marked on your map as well. "This will allow you to not have to carry both maps if you don't want to." He seems pleased that he could help but has little time otherwise as you noticed he has a large stack of books that need copying.

Back at the apartments you are getting ready to leave, having given the last of your orders to the carpenter. He assures you that everything will be ready on your arrival back to town.

Your plans are stopped though when you hear a knock at the front door to the apartments that you all share.

[I think that everything should be ok. I have not had a chance to check my email yet though.]

Arm
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 6:02:57 AM

Arm heads to the door to open it, hoping that it is Mira, and that she has come to her senses and has returned. However, halfway there he thinks, "If it IS her, why would she knock?". His mood is a bit foul as he opens the door to see who is disturbing them when they are finally ready to leave.

OOC: Yeah, Thar..I'D say you're fertile enough...ONE child was all the fertility I could handle..lol! :D

Kadaz
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 6:16:22 AM

Kadaz is near finished with packing when he hears the knock on the door and watches Arm head for it. "What now?" he asks, not wanting to be delayed once everything is ready to to. He moves to a nearby window and looks out at the street.

Shadow
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 8:59:24 AM

Shadow has everything ready to travel and is just waiting for the group to decide exactly when they are going to leave.

He waits to see who is at the door, as Arm goes to get it.

(OOC: I can understand, I have 3 boys.)

Thar
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 10:18:31 AM

Returning from the Catacombs, Thar readies his new gear and practices movements with his armor.

When he hears the door knock, he wanders into the entry toom to hear whom it could be.

Julian
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 4:08:41 PM

Julian hears the door knock and quickly slips through the house to be near the front door to see who it is... He hopes it is the delivery of his carriage.

Edmund
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 4:29:52 PM

Edmund sticks his head out of the window of his room, frowning irritably down at whomever has decided to interrupt his studies.

If it looks to be important, he will make his way downstairs to deal with the situation.

Kirsten
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 8:50:54 PM

The paladin, having been double checking to make sure her gear is ready, looks up when she hears the knock at the door.

She will make her way to the door, standing off to the side somewhat as she tries to see who it might be.

Trouble on the Preserve. (DM Jim)
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 10:39:43 PM

As several of the group meet at the door and Arm opens it. You are brought face to face with Constable Rabbitsfoot and he has an elf with him. The elf is dressed in forest green, with what might be a mithril shirt under a normal tunic. Strapped to his side is a longsword and dagger that you figure from his stance, he can use. The elf has a haggard and difficult look upon his face as he glances to Arm, while shaking his head. "I thought you told me you had help for me Constable...these are nothing more than youngsters." You get the idea from his statement that he evidently does not live inside of Plateau City.

With a sigh Rabbitsfoot shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders while looking to those that answered the door. "They are more than good enough and from what you have told me....they know the villian that is your problem." He glances back to Arm and nods his head, that smile creeping back across his face. "I am glad that I caught you before you left...there is something that you might want to know about first." The elf crosses his arms across his chest and grunts as if he does not believe a word of it, but there is a tinge of desperation in his eyes as well. "I trust Gormley and thus your Rabbitsfoot...but can we hurry this along, I so hate the city." His nose wrinkles up as if he smells something bad in the air and his arms uncross so that he can rub at his nose with his right hand. "This place reeks."

Rabbitsfoot turns his attention from the elf that he has been frowning at and shakes his head. It is one of those, what can you do looks that appears on his face as he speaks. "Could we come in for a couple of minutes at least?" You notice that a small carriage is fast approaching as well, being driven by an older man. It has a pair of small horses attached to it. From the looks it should hold at least four people in the back with two being able to ride....or it could hold a lot of gear in the back, though you could put some gear on the top. You also notice that three fully outfitted horses are also coming along behind the cart too. They are tied off to the back of the cart and seem agreeable at the least.

Podo  d20+8=25
Tuesday February 5th, 2008 11:24:20 PM

Podo stands behind everyone being new here understands that those at the door are referring to the new group he just met and joined and not specifically to him.

Looking past those at the door (Spot DC:25), Podo sees what looks like a small carriage approaching the apartment. Thinking to himself,I wonder what Julian purchased this time...

[OOC: I apologize for lack of last post. I Strained my hand/wrist of my dominant hand, so typing is difficult at best.]

Julian
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 1:05:03 AM

Julian leaps into the air with a little, "Yaaaa!" and heads for the door, "Podo, come look, I've bought us a ride. It'll be good for Kadaz, too, and anyone else... well - I'll drive I s'pose, and with someone to look-out with me, all the feed'll take up a bit of space so perhaps only two in there...
To the elf in a deeper voice, "I'm sure that this person here," waving vaguely into the room," knows how to help you. I need to tend my animals." Julian then attempts to calm walk out, half skipping with delight, a trail of small animals following him.
A shock of sunlight glares of his armour as he calls again in glee, "Yaaa!"

Shadow
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 7:16:37 AM

Shadow tries to not let his feelings show about towards the rude elf. He does smile at Rabbitsfoot as he enters and will wait patiently for them to tell the group what is going on. He does notice the carriage and thinks, 'this might nt be too bad'.

Thar
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 9:29:20 AM

Ashamed that a fellow elf would act so rudely to his companions, Thar tries to reign in his anger. Calmly walking to the visitor, Thar introduces himself and asks the stranger's name. "My name is Thar ail Baerer and I am our group's resident healer and ranger. It is nice to meet another elf in the city and I understand your frustration with being inside. I too miss the outdoors and can't wait to leave the confines of Plateau City."

"What is your name? It sounds like we are on the same mission and we should share our intel about what we are working towards."

"Lastly, I understand your feelings towards non-elves, but I must ask you to respect my friends and control your manners. If we are going to work together, then we must come to some sort of agreement. You don't have to like them, but I ask you again to respect them. Otherwise, things will be much more difficult. After all, isn't the mission more important than our personal feelings towards non-elves?"

With that said, he waits for Rabbitsfoot or the elf to share more information.

Arm
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 11:17:53 AM

More than a little insensed at the rude elf's behavior, Arm sniffs HIM as he enters, wondering if it is HE that the foul smell is emanating from, and does nothing to hide the fact.

Once inside, he agrees with his friend, "Aye, there is no doubt that I would risk my life for any member of the order, so you'd best curb your tongue or you shall be shipped out the door MUCH faster than you entered.".

Kirsten
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 6:26:20 PM

The paladin frowns somewhat at the strange elf's rudeness, though she tries her best to give him a break, knowing that being in the city would probably be rather unpleasant for him.

Kirsten watches somewhat as Thar and Arm speak with the stranger.

Edmund
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 6:55:53 PM

Edmund enters the room just in time to hear the thorough rubbish being spouted by the newly-arrived Elf. With long, decisive strides, he makes his way over to the door, eyes narrowed and fixed on the latest arrivals.

"I see you have brought a spot of unpleasantness into our foyer, constables," Edmund remarks, never once taking his eyes off of the new face. "Rudeness and contempt? These are what you have been taught to greet others with? I see the standards of behaviour among the country people have found new depths to plumb."

Edmund frowns sternly as he continues, "The city may not have the perfumed air with which you are familiar, but what it lacks in scent it makes up for in hospitality. Or it did, ere your arrival. I'm suddenly less keen on being hospitable, myself, though I cannot speak for my good friends here."

"Perhaps," Edmund eyes the constables carefully, "You may wish to advise your friend to govern his tongue. We have paid dearly in defending the elves of this city, and little deserve the cheek of a country bumpkin."

Kadaz
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 6:57:41 PM

The dwarf is immediately suspicious of this strange elf. Not because he's rude, that's way too common, even occasionally among his friends. What really irritats Kadaz is that the elf insults Plateau City!

"Reek? Plateau City reek? Who are you to talk? I've been out there, away from the city, where the animal waste is allowed to pile up, rotten fruit dangles from the vine, and dangerous animals hide behind every evil tree, waiting to pounce on the unaware. I prefer civilization." Kadaz sniffs, turns, then privately winks at Rabbitsfoot. Let's see if this elf can take it as well as dish it out.

Kadaz looks past the carriage to see if his mule and cart is following.

Help the Preserve. (DM Jim)
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 10:38:02 PM

Rabbitsfoot shakes his head and groans as the comments start to come. There is nothing to do for it now and he is not going to try and settle this one. The elf on the other hand just sniffs and laughs. "I have been a ranger since the day that I could hold a bow and fire it. The forest is all that I have know for over half my life and I tell you this city smells of sweaty bodies, animals and a number of other foul substances. To me it is the most disgusting thing to have to put up with and I am not sure how any of you do." He holds up a hand to stall any further arguements and shakes his head. "Gormley vouches for the opinion of Rabbitsfoot and I have worked for him before...so he is to be trusted." He seems to take the time to really take stock of the group and nods his head again. "Your city has been a thorn to many over the years and you will never know the depths that us rangers go through to protect it. The wild things of the Monster Preserve are nastier than most anything you can find outside of it and that would be good advice to remember if you wish to help yourselves." Rabbitsfoot clears his throat and gestures into the house. "Let us enter before we draw too much attention."

Both of the visitors step into the apartments and follow along with those present. Though the elf does not seem to be that comfortable, he is also wild looking and not exactly clean. You would guess that if he speaks true, there is a reason for his uncivilized nature...the Monster Preserve is not for the inexperienced or the weak.

With the door safely shut behind the lot of you and a place found to sit, as it seems this may take a couple...you wonder if the help is worth giving. As the Constable sits in a chair the elf decides to stand, though he shifts from foot to foot. "My name is Elithiarian Destinious Phlinstinal Colonel Ranger of the Monster Preserve. It has come to our attention that a large group of monsters have come up missing in the preserve. Some of them have been captured of that we are sure, but others are more likely to have taken up with the beast that is now building an army." He glances to Rabbitsfoot, clearly he is uncomfortable with the thing that he is having to do. "In the past week we have lost twenty five rangers in the Preserve. Their mutilated bodies have been found easily and there have been a number of prints nearby...but we are so understaffed that we cannot mount a full scale operation." You start to feel that some of his earlier outbursts might have been from flustration that they cannot do something about this themselves, along with the fact that so many rangers have died already. Wiping his hand across his face he sighs. "It has been confirmed that the very creature that you fought in the basements of the House on Helms Way is the one that is gathering this army." With the last bit of energy he moves over and falls into an empty chair.

Rabbitsfoot glances to the elf and then to the group. "I figured that you might want some payback for what happened in the catacombs. I also know that you are going to check out the spot on the map and they are not in the same direction. Problem is, I am not sure which is more important and that is why I came to you hoping to catch you before you left." He leans back in the chair and sighs, he has nowhere else to turn either. "I am sure that the army is meant to attack this city but I am not sure how soon or even how large the force is going to be."

Elithiarian clears his throat to get some attention. "We know for sure that he has at least enlisted the aid of four giants, at least twenty goblins, two trolls, ten bugbears and maybe a beholder. With some of the other creatures that have went missing, he could have a slave army as well. This aboleth must be stoped but I only have eight men left and we cannot hope to do it." He sinks back into the chair and closes his eyes, clearly worried.

They say it never rains but it pours. Right about now you are at a crossroads of sorts and your beloved city is being besett by many enemies. You know of the aboleth, dopplegangers and this mystery marked on the map....maybe even the very city council.

Podo
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 10:55:25 PM

"Peace to you Brothers. I'm sure we cane find a solution to this mess that is equitable to all ...with the exception of the evil critters." says Podo to all assembled.

With that Podo walks to one side of the apartment to give room to the assembled.

Julian
Wednesday February 6th, 2008 11:32:34 PM

Julian returns to the apartment to listen, having quickly admired the horses and carriage, and tied them off to keep them safe.

He listens intently from a corner on the floor. The halfling counts to himself out loud, "Four and Twenty, and and then Two and Ten. So twenty something plus another two-hands. And unknown slaves - not quite Ten Mithril Order, and rangers to help (perhaps).
"And then there's an X on the map - I thought Kadaz was joking about that..." He looks about for someone else to figure this one out.

Arm
Thursday February 7th, 2008 6:06:24 AM

Arm, still not happy about the ranger's comments, says "Since we have already heard rumors of an army amassing to attack the city, I think the best course is to check out this spot on the map first. If it IS their headquarters, then what better way to quell an army than to cut off its head? Perhaps if we do that, then the others shall disband and be less of a threat and we can then take them out at our leisure.".

Shadow
Thursday February 7th, 2008 7:21:48 AM

Shadow is a bit worried as the exchange picks up pace and not very positive tone coming from both his companions and this elf. He is relieved when it becomes clear that the elf is not really upset about the city but his frustration of losing his companions.

Shadow listens intently, and shakes his head when Arm suggests to check out the X first. "I would agree that we should probably take a look at the X first, but we really will need to push for time here. I worry that we have two things to look at and not sure of either."

Thar
Thursday February 7th, 2008 11:39:36 AM

Thinking about what they were just told, Thar disagrees politely with Arm and says "Well, we know that someone is building up an army and it is possible that these two are related. I'd say we should check out that solid intel and try to find out what exactly occurred. That aboleth seems to be amassing some sort of attack on Plateau City and it sounds like a more immediate threat."

To his fellow ranger, Thar asks "What can you tell us about the location of the attacks, any other evidence or anything about where possibly that aboleth might be stationed?"

Kadaz
Thursday February 7th, 2008 1:59:32 PM

"There's a preserve for monsters? What kind of insane idea is that?" Kadaz ends up asking this question a bit louder than he intended. "Of course we'll go and help you find the monsters you lost. And I'm very sorry about the rangers who have lost their lives. But just think about it: a safe haven for monsters?"

Podo
Thursday February 7th, 2008 9:11:09 PM

Podo listens to everyone in turn, trying to get a feel for what is happening and why the Mithril Order is involved.

Not exactly sure as what to say or do, Podo will try to offer some comfort to the guests.

Approaching the elf, Podo asks, "Excuse me, Brother , As a Healer of Alemi I see that you are in discomfort. Is there anything might might be able to do for you to help you?"

If the Visitor Elf answers in the affirmative, Podo will lay hands on him and perform the lesser lift gift to help easy his pain. If this is not enough, Podo offers Health enriched candy to the elf.

Edmund
Thursday February 7th, 2008 10:40:55 PM

Edmund has never heard of something like a monster preserve, and thinks it is the stupidest idea since the unflushable toilet. Nevertheless, he keeps his opinions to himself for once, restricting himself to raised eyebrows.

It is difficult to avoid laughing at Kadaz's comment, but with some difficulty Edmund keeps a straight face and even manages to nod seriously.

"I suppose if help is requested, help should be offered," he says tactfully.

Rock, Hard Place....Big Trouble. (DM Jim)
Thursday February 7th, 2008 10:48:27 PM

Elithiarian leans forward in his chair as he listens to the questions. As he begins to mull over all the information that he has in his head, he reaches up and pinches the bridge of his nose between thumb and forefinger. "The preserve is set up to house those monsters that have decided to live in peace. Though this is not all of them that decide to live there. It is also a place of endangered species that are almost extinct. In fact we have a small family of pixies living there, whose clan was all but killed off by faeries." Waving that off as not the most useful information he falls into what he feels is more useful. "There is a cave system on the preserve that has many underground tunnels connected to it. We are not sure how far they reach and they are all flooded with water, so we cannot really check them...plus I am undermaned rifht now as well." He once again leans back in the chair and settles in for a longer stay than he would have expected, though now that he thinks about it...he did need to give them all the information.

"I am not sure about the attack...as far as where or when he plans to attack the city. I just know from a few good sources that he is building an army and serves a higher master. There have also been a few goblins that have been raiding our stations for supplies and we have been able to get information from them as well. It seems that this aboleth is part of something bigger, but he has been offered Plateau City as his oyster in return for his services. By attacking and taking this city, he will further this Master's plans." He shrugs as there is little else that they know about the situation and he is not sure how sensitive the time is. "All we know is that this attack is planned and will happen. I can also provide a pair of rangers to lead you to this cave complex or you could go it alone...but the preserve is very dangerous and the forest itself does not like visitors." He glances to Podo as he moves over and asks his own questions but waves him off. "My discomfort is not something that can be cured that easily...it is an ailment of the heart." You get the idea he is speaking of his men. He must have been close to them.

Rabbitsfoot takes this time to speak up. "You have two different objectives and a hard decision. I am sure that I can keep a watch on the city and Elithiarian here would most likely be able to warn us of an attack." A worried expression marrs his usually cheerful face though. "My problem is getting the council to listen to reason. I doubt if they will listen to anyone about this." He glances over as Elithiarian speaks once again and there is determination in his voice. "I have to try and get the council to listen to me. If they do not mobilize at least a little for what is to come...the city may well fall." He glances to the Mithril Order and turns a little red as he coughs. "I mean no disrespect...but war is coming and I fear that no matter your choice...this city will be under siege soon." He does not seem to like to have to say it and you also get the idea that he has plans to do something about it...but he does not speak of that.

Rabbitsfoot and Elithiarian both stand almost as one, but stop when they realize you might have other questions. Both seem to be in a little bit of a hurry and you can understand why with what you have been told. Still it might be wise to be as informed as possible.

[I will approve all the CC purchases that have been made and emailed to me so far. I know that I forgot to mention the cart, so please take it for a fact that it showed up the same time as the carriage and extra horses. Sorry.]

Arm
Friday February 8th, 2008 6:04:05 AM

Arm's brows knit deeply as he ponders the subject, "Well, considering the strength of what we've seen thusfar, it is HIGHLY inadvisable to split up and tackle both problems. If there are no other questions, could the two of you please step outside for a moment so we can decide what to do?".

Once they are gone, Arm says to his friends, "I can see two problems with going to this 'monster preserve': First, we are now one magic user short (his throat seems to catch as he finishes that), and secondly, we have a problems exploring underwater in the past and who knows how far these caves reach? If we venture off to the spot on the map, yes we are still down a magic user, but we won't have the watery depths to contend with. My vote is to explore the map, but I shall concede to whatever the majority decides.".

Kadaz
Friday February 8th, 2008 7:13:15 AM

"It's better to meet this army of monsters far away from Plateau City instead of just outside the city's walls. But it certainly sounds like we may need a way to travel underwater safely. Any suggestions? Ed?" Kadaz looks over at the group's magic user for useful suggestions.

Shadow
Friday February 8th, 2008 7:15:12 AM

"Is there such a thing that will allow us to breathe underwater? I am not sure which would be wiser to do first, but I do know that we cannot split up. That has proven disasterous in the past, and if the aboleth has any more of the dopplegangers with him that could prove a very big problem. I know how Arm feels, but what about everyone else, the X marks the spot or the caves?" Shadow looks around at his companions to see what they decide.

Thar
Friday February 8th, 2008 9:18:46 AM

Thinking about their two difficult options, Thar adds, "You guys have a great point about traveling underwater. If the elf can "loan" us something to use underwater that lasts for a while (necklaces or other related goodies) and not a potion, then I'd say we check out the preserve. We can promise to give the items back after the adventure."

"On the other hand, if he can't loan us something, then I vote for the X spot on the map."

Kirsten
Friday February 8th, 2008 12:12:31 PM

She listens to all that is happening, and what her companions and the elf have to say.

Kirsten nods somewhat as she listens.

"I would like to help him, and go to the preserve, but I know that my swimming skills are not exactly fantastic. However, if there was a way we could move or breathe underwater for an extended period of time..."

She looks to Edmund, wondering what sort of spells he might be able to come up with.

"Either way, it seems like we have little time to decide our course."

Kadaz (2nd post)
Friday February 8th, 2008 1:18:49 PM

Kadaz has a bit of good news. "On my recent trip to buy items I purchased a necklace which allows on person to breath underwater. But it's only for 1 person, so we need more magic, it seems."

Podo
Friday February 8th, 2008 5:23:14 PM

"I'm Game! Where to first?" wonders Podo.

Julian
Friday February 8th, 2008 7:07:45 PM

"I don't know how to solve the underwater problem. I can read scrolls for myself, though I've never learned to use them on others. I've a wand I can use on others, but it's not for water. Perhaps if we had the right wand or two...
"Anyway, I am keen to let blood to stop," he glances at Podo, "I mean, keen to stop evil plans for the greater good."

Kadaz
Saturday February 9th, 2008 10:16:34 AM

Kadaz jingles his money pouch a bit. "If someone wants to purchase some magical way to allow more folks to breath and move underwater, I can contribute 1,000 gp."

Talking it over. (DM Jim)
Sunday February 10th, 2008 12:41:56 AM

The Constable and the Ranger move out to the door and leave the group to think over their next bit of plans. This puts them far enough away that the group does not have to worry about being overheard and they can voice all concerns and thoughts. The group itself will be the only ones that know what is being thought.

[I made this a weak post so that you can continue your talks. That and I missed the Friday one. You can call back in the Constable and Ranger when you need to ask them more questions...well I guess the Ranger is the one that you need to talk to most. :)]

Thar
Sunday February 10th, 2008 3:22:32 PM

Thar will go and quickly ask the Constable and Ranger if they can "loan" the party some necklaces or other items that specifically deal with underwater breathing. He'll volunteer to undergo a geas or fill out some sort of promissary note that they'll return whatever items are borrowed, after the adventure.

Kadaz
Sunday February 10th, 2008 4:16:09 PM

Kadaz adds his opinion. " The big baddie is recruiting, and the map is from his minions. So the X on the map seems a likely place for the missing monsters to have gone. And if they aren't there we can head over to the preserve after that."

Kirsten
Sunday February 10th, 2008 8:56:28 PM

When she hears Kadaz's words, she nods slowly.

"Kadaz makes a good point. There must be some significance of the X on the map, and it seems to me it probably has something to do with what Elithiarian is dealing with. Perhaps we should head there first, and then make our way to the preserve afterward. How far apart are they, exactly?"

"I'm sorry, 'cause it seems wrong about something so serious, but I think an X on the map is meant to be funny. I'd hate to think it was left of purpose to throw us off the trail."

Arm
Monday February 11th, 2008 6:01:50 AM

Arm looks to Julian and says, "I am sorry, but I don't share your opinion. We found that map in other papers after a difficult battle, so I doubt that it was left lying about for us to find. Also, according to those that know the area, the 'X' marks a place that is in the middle of nowhere. What better place to have a headquarters than somewhere no one thinks anything is?".

After a bit more thought, he says to the group, "I think we should mark the location of the preserve on the map as well. That may orient us in the direction we need to follow.".

Shadow

Shadow listens intently as the group discusses which way to start. "I agree with Arm, I thing we should checkk out the 'X' first, and if nothing is there then go to the preserve."

Thar
Monday February 11th, 2008 10:16:27 AM

Listening to the various discussion points and hoping to get some sort of resolution, Thar says "OK, it sounds like we have a majority vote that the 'X' is the better choice. It may not be unanimous, but is a majority view. I recommend we set out ASAP, since we've lost a lot of time in our discussions and need to get the ball rolling on this." (Sorry for the non-Wold metaphor, but it sounded good ;-) )

Edmund

Edmund puts in his two cents.

"As I see it, someone wrote an X on that map--and they certainly had a reason. Either it is something important, which we need to find; or it is something they want us to go to, perhaps a trap, which we need to defuse before someone else wanders into it. Mayhaps they are lying in wait for us; even better, says I. So, there's nothing for it. We should make for the X!"

Edmund folds his arms in a satisfied way after declaring this brilliant piece of argumentation.

Kadaz

"Well, it seems we've come to agreement, mostly, on a plan. To the X, it is! And then, to this monster preserve, if necessary. Let's get Elithiarian and Rabbitsfoot back in here."

Kirsten
Monday February 11th, 2008 9:38:37 PM

Kirsten nods at the plan, thinking that it seems to be the best path to take at the moment. She also hopes that this Elithiarian will not be too offended by the decision.

Decision. (DM Jim)

With the decision being made, the group has the two that have been waiting come back into the room.

As both Rabbitsfoot and Elithiarian come back into the room, the both look to the group. It is Elithiarian that speaks as it was his job that was brought to the group attention. "I take it that you have made a decision." He then waits to hear what they have decided.

If the idea about waterbreathing stuff is brought up, Elithiarian nods his head and smiles. "My Rangers and I can supply you with a number of devices that will allow you to breathe underwater for an unlimited amount of time." If he is not asked than he will keep this information to himself....for now.

"Eh, Brother Elithiarian, do you require us to investigate the underwater aspects of the terrain? If so, do ytou have anything that will allow us to breath underwater? "asks Podo point blankedly.

Podo will intently study Brother Elithiarian's expressions, both body and facial for signs of truth and/or deception. (Diplomacy DC: 13, Gather Info DC: 20, Sense Motive DC: 23)

After arrangments have been decided upon, Podo informs the group that he needs time to pray and ready his spells.

Arm
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 6:03:20 AM

Arm looks to Podo and says, "I don't mean to hurry you, but we really need to get going. Time is running out for us, so please let us know as soon as you are finished so we can be off.". While podo takes care of his ministrations, Arm marks another 'X' on the map where Elithiarian points out as the location of the monster preserve. He then checks his armor and sword to make sure everything is in order. If he has time, he approaches Kirsten and says, "I know you haven't been happy with some of my choice of spells in the past. However, we've found that sometimes it is necessary to fight the enemy on their own turf. I can assure you that my intentions are only to aid the group, and are in no way evil.".

Shadow
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 6:20:35 AM

Shadow makes sure he has all of his equipment and will help the others to load up the cart, so that when everyone is ready they can get started. He will try not to show his impatience, but he struggles with hiding his feelings.

Kadaz
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 6:45:17 AM

Kadaz goes out to his cart and makes sure all of the items he has bought are securely tied down and covered. Birdie jumps up on the seat, more than ready to leave on a new trip. He makes sure the mule is fed and watered, and checks the tack. "I need a name for you. What should it be?" he asks the mule, not really expecting an answer.

Thar
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 9:16:45 AM

Thar will reiterate Podo's request for underwater gear by repeating his earlier statement on equipment. "I guarantee that it will be returned to you ASAP once we return. How shall we acquire these items you are lending to us? Should we send someone to your Headquarters or just wait for a courier?"

Once done, he'll head downstairs and help pack the cart and horses. He'll then mount his own horse (assume he's renting one?) and wait for the group to depart.

Edmund
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 5:42:54 PM

Edmund packs up his kit--this only takes a few moments--and is ready to go.

"Lets be off, then," he says. "It's the job soonest started that's soonest ended."

Kirsten
Tuesday February 12th, 2008 5:49:30 PM

When Arm speaks to her, the paladin pauses. Kirsten will take a moment to gaze at the other, before she merely nods.

"I understand, Arm," she smiles slowly. "Just, don't let things get out of hand, hmm?"

That said, Kirsten will make her way outside as it appears they are preparing to leave. Once she ascertains the fact that they really are leaving, she will summon her warhorse, Wolfgang. She will then double check to make sure she has everything she needs prepared.

"Now there's two X's on the map..."

Julian need only grab his pack, barding and saddles for his animals and he is ready to drive off. "I've got space for 1 up front, and two inside the carriage - but that is sharing with feed and pets..."
