As you all enter the inn it is early evening and business is beginning to pick up. You get you gear and beasts situated and settled for the night and you can find no fault what-so-ever with the stables or staff. You would expect this sort of efficiency, organization and order only tobe found in the highest courts and wealthiest of manors, but here it is, at this out in the middle of nowhere inn. You truely are impressed. The inside of the inn meets those same expectations despite the coarse roughness of the orcs out on the porch. As you make your way to the second floor where the common room is, you pass by bathing rooms and barracks of different sizes, even apparently ones appropriately sized for those of Taurian persuasion.
As you enter the common room, Val, Bart and Apollo find themsellves immediately at home and comfortable as the bar is constructed from and still looks like the hull of a ship, bbarnacles and limpets included. And holding up the bar's section of ceiling is what was obviously the ships figurehead; of a rather voluptuous woman. As the group finds a suitable table Bart, Apollo, and Berlon are pretty sure they saw the figurhead wink at each of them as they walked passed.
There are four bartender/servers working currently and as soon as you are seated, a youngish looking man approaches the table.
"Good Evening to you all. Welcome to the Tears of the Woods. Let me move some of these chairs out of the way for those of you who don't need them."
He quickly and efficiently moves several of the chairs out of the way for those Taurs who don't need them and then is promptly back.
"So can I get you something to drink? Perhaps you would like a pint of Horsemastrer's or perhaps a glass of this year's vintage Blackbird wine? Evening meal won't be ready for another thirty of so minutes, but I am sure I could find some bread and cheese and possibly some tart apples if you need something to tide you over."
He pauses to allow you to place your orders.

My normal posting time will be between 6-9 PM EST. If this is not good for anyone please let me know as soon as possible. Also as long as we are not in combat or direct action situations you may continue a conversation with a second post or so, but do not dominate the board. Thanks.
Malgant Tuesday February 5th, 2008 10:30:41 PM
Malgant takes a seat at the table, choosing a heavy chair and also choosing to seat himself with his back to the door. Bralin had taught him how to watch another persons back while seated at a table, and now he would pass on that knowledge. At the servers Question he decides to try the Blackbird wine.
Vorelle Tuesday February 5th, 2008 11:31:13 PM
Vorelle has fond memories of this inn, which remains the fanciest place she has ever slept. She looks around, smiling slightly, and leaving the conversation to those better suited for it.
"W-w-wine, p-p-please," she stammers to the server.
Vauhwyt and Mookie Wednesday February 6th, 2008 7:35:44 AM
Vauhwyt is one of those who sits down but does not require a seat! Sitting on the floor, her posture is something like this or this. [Note that these are good drawings for posture, but not for faces. Vauhwyt has a fully human face, not a cat face. Well, her hair is very much like a mane. And her cat's eyes give her low light vision, and some of her teeth are rather more pointy than a human's, but otherwise her face and ears (the one you can see) looks like yours or mine.]
Her bird hops out onto the table, and when the server comes round, caws, "Got any worms? Grubs, maybe? Berries? Thems are what I like!" His eyes twinkle like the little crown on his head and the twinkling prism that orbits it.
Vauhwyt will try the Blackbird wine. She looks around the room, wondering if there are any priests of Ga'al or trolls here this time. She tells the group that both were drinking here when last we visited, "and I much preferred the troll."
Berlon Wednesday February 6th, 2008 10:37:47 AM
Berlon looks up slightly at the mention of the word "trolls" but otherwise seems off in his own little world. He foregoes any of the offered food or drink, politely declining any while rubbing his beard, deep in thought.
Malgant Wednesday February 6th, 2008 5:06:27 PM
"So, have any of the rest of you gotten a feel for the visions we all seem to have been having? Is the hooded face calling out to us for help, or do you think it searches for us to stop us from helping someone else? Having never met someone with burning eyes I couldn't say for myself.." The minotaur looks at each of the others in turn. They all appear to be seasoned adventurers. This gives him no clues to the answer to his question though. The sender of the vision could either be recruiting heros to help him or gathering the heros capable of helping the side of good together in one neat place to destroy them all at once. "In case it comes down to the sender being against us and this is all an elaborate scheme to get us all where he can dispose of us in one easy maneuver, we might want to know each others capabilities if it comes to a fight. I can go first to break the ice. I am a priest of Domi who has chosen the path of the Protector. I can heal and will should the need arise, but I am also very capable in combat. That is where I will be unless the need for healing arises. The study of scripture was never my best skill, so I will likely fight first and heal second if a noncombat resolution cannot be found to a situation." Glancing over Malgant's gear you can see what he means. Several holy symbols of Domi adorn his person and his armor. The hilt of the greatsword on his back looks well used and the longsword at his side seems to be rather new. The shield shows very few signs of having seen combat either, leading you to suspect that the greatsword is his preferd method of fighting.

DM Kent Wednesday February 6th, 2008 10:35:55 PM
The drinks that have been ordered so far arrives as well as a small bowl of mixed berries which is carefully placed in front of Mookie. Some bread and chees is also brought and placed around the table.
The other clientel is quite varied but there do not appear to be any trolls or Ga'alians around. At least not at the moment. Most of the patrons seem to be fairly darkskinned and attired with a couple of layers of light colored cloth that is wrapped and draped around them. There are a couple of orcs sitting in a corner table and a party of dwarves drinking some sort of very dark and thick libation at a nearby table.
As the server finishes placing down your drinks and snacks he looks around at you to see if you need anything else and then gets ready to leave. He turns and then stops and turns back. "Oh yeah, Are you all going to want rooms for the night?
Val Thursday February 7th, 2008 10:49:02 AM
Val ordered some wine, some strong wine. The last couple weeks had stressed her out quite a bit. After all only a fool would laugh at a curse by a god.
"I need a room with a nice soft bed. Plus a bath later. A very hot bath with scented oil."
Vorelle Thursday February 7th, 2008 11:35:30 AM
Vorelle glances around at the others. "Are w-we st-st-staying?" she asks. The cryptic vision hadn't provided much information.
Responding to Maglant's question, she says, "I c-can t-t-track. And sc-scout. I c-c-can use a b-b-b-bow, or f-f-fight in c-c-close." She squirms uncomfortably for a moment. "I c-c-can't c-c-cast sp-spells," she admits.
Appolo d20+14=24 d20+10=17 Thursday February 7th, 2008 12:54:07 PM
Appolo amswers Malgants question"As I said earlier I'ma pirate.I work silently and close.I steal backstab cut throats.I perfer not to be seen or heard until after I'm done then I leave without a trace." Turning to Vorelle"Yes we're staying for at least a couple of days."Moving toward Valanthe"What's the matter my dear.Things change. So the others went off to pursue other interest.Rigging and Ahira want to havea family.Nez wants to get closer to his god.Ari wants to bea tree. It's ok they are still out family and still care for us.So do not despiar for you still have be .For despite everything we've been through I still love you deeply. It's ok if you don't have the same feelings for me.Just becuase I love some one doesn't mean they have to love me back.I just want you to be happy." Appolo then sees to it that rooms and bathes are prepared for everyone in the group. He walks around the place looking things over.
Vauhwyt remembers that they have very nice Taur-sized baths here too. She tells the server they'll want rooms, preferably adjacent, one for women, one for men. AND a good hot bath -- and the liontaur will pay extra for fresh water.
"In a way, I'll be sad to wash the last dirt of Dirt City away, but on the flip side, it will be nice to use a bath to get clean for a change, rather than just Prestidigitation spells."
Berlon Friday February 8th, 2008 5:46:30 PM
"Yeah, no, seriously Appolo, you really need to leave Vorelle alone," Berlon says without looking up, "I really don't want to have to clean up again after Vauhwyt squishes someone. The cleaning takes *days*..."
"And that's when she's *normal*. She's *obviously* been hit in the head with a coconut and thinks she misses Dirt City. Obviously crazy. So I'd behave or we'll tell you the story of the last pirate that was proud of all the backs he stabbed and throats he cut."
He smiles broadly, then looks confused.
"Wait, what? Who was cursed by a god?"
Malgant Saturday February 9th, 2008 1:30:19 AM
Malgant takes off his gauntlets to beter handle his wine glass. As he does so you notice that each of his fingers has a platinum ring on it. They all are simple bands but stand out against his dark hands rather strikingly. When the server asks about rooms Malgant is sure to put in that he would like a bath with his room. Other than that he sits and listens to the others at the table, trying to get a feel for them and figure out where in their group he will fit in. As time passes and it gets later in the day he awaits the visions, since they always seem to come at night. He wonders if they will be visions this time, or if, now that they have gathered, they will meet the person with the burning eyes in person.

Vauhwyt Sunday February 10th, 2008 11:18:17 AM
Vauhwyt laughs, a little nervously, since she suspects Appolo could beat all Vorelle, Berlon, and Vauhwyt on his own. Maybe with one hand tied behind his back.
Although if Vorelle actually had seemed put out ... but no need to go there.
"Come, friends old and new," she says, "let us drink while we can, before the being that drew us here puts an end to our happy time togetherr." One might think that the high pitch of her voice meant she was nervous, but in fact that's how she always sounds. The slight accent and twitch of her tail are more revealing clues, to those in the know.
Vorelle Sunday February 10th, 2008 9:30:56 PM
Vorelle seems a little startled by Berlon's outburst. She glances at Appollo, who seems busy making eyes at Val. This, as far as she remembers, is a new development, and can only be good news for her.
She glances at Bart. "Sh-sh-shocking?" she asks.

Some discussionis had about individual talents and abilities as you refresh yourselves.
The drinks and snacks are quite good and you server hurries out and then back in a few moments to tell you that you go the last two rooms available; one for the men and one for the ladies. He also tells yu that the evening meal will be ready in about 30 more minutes if you wanted to settle your rooms and bathe.
As you are told this, you can't help but over hear an outburt from a nearby table.
"What do you mean 6 pieces of silver for three glasses of water!!? For that kind of money I should be able to drink 3 gallons of ale or wine!!
The response from the server is something along the lines of: well then I guess that's what you should have oedered then. Now pay up and leave. You can see several bouncer types start to move toward the table.
Malgant d20+7=18 Monday February 11th, 2008 10:48:04 PM

The man whom is arguing prices looks at Vaught as if she has lost her mind.
I don't need your money nor would I take it from the likes of you and I will thank you to mind your own business. As he says this he throws several gold pieces on the table and stalks out.
As you all decide to head for your baths and rooms your server shows up again and for you 7 drinks and food asks for 8 silver peices.
"When you are ready I will take you to your rooms."

Hmm do they use a spinning wheel around here to see what the price is? Yes i like to have a nice warm bath after such long trail
Vauhwyt hears the man say "nor would I take it from the likes of you" -- and she gets a little more than somewhat mad. What is the proper revenge for such an insult, she wonders. Perhaps the third order of vengeance, from the second circle, the one with the hot brands. Or the simple but effective twelfth order of the first circle, the quick vivisection.
But the Avenger recalls the teaching of Jancassis: That revenge must suit the offense, that extremism in vengeance is not justice, but escalation. With that in mind, the liontaur decides that her vengeance must be more like the offense. Not the cut of the knife, but the cut of the sharp word. A witty barb of an insult will deliver justice enough to this miscreant.
Vauhwyt casts about in her mind for the perfect phrase. And through the grace of Our Lady of Perpetual Vengeance, it comes to her.
She says, loudly enough for the villain to hear, "Well, some grouchy puss woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!"
Vengeance delivered, Vauhwyt says a quick prayer of thanks to the Lady for her guidance, and she heads down to the baths.

Vorelle Wednesday February 13th, 2008 8:10:15 PM
When the server announces the tab, Vorelle reaches into her pouch to dig out her share. Her purse is on the light side by adventurer standards, but she has plenty to spend here.
Then she hears Vauhwyt, and Appollo, being their usual impetuous selves. She gives a little sigh and rises unobtrusively to her feet. She's prepared to back up her friends. She just wishes she didn't have to do it quite so often.
Malgant Wednesday February 13th, 2008 9:35:26 PM
Malgant figures that Vauhwyt has handled the insult well, when Appolo jumps to his feet and attacks the man. Malgant's response in instinctual and has been ingrained by his years in the faith. " That, will be more that enough Appolo." Malgant takes the couple of steps needed to bring him even with the altercation." You are not the wronged one here, Vauhwyt is. She chose to treat insult with insult, and not escalate this into a brawl. Hers in the right to Kayleb, and she has generously declined it. There is a huge difference between friendship and attacking an unramed person. I would expect you to be the one making that apology." Turning to look at the man on the floor Malgant checks to see that indeed no weapons have been drawn. When he has made sure of that his voice softens and he continues to the man on the floor. " It is not wise to offer harsh words to a Taur. Even a centaur has enough self respect to respond to them. If you are injured I offer the healing that Domi provides me to defend the oppressed."
Valanthe Wednesday February 13th, 2008 10:44:12 PM
"Malgant I suggest you back off and let Appolo do his thing. He won't listen to you. He doesn't listen to anybody." Val says from her booth. She leans back and takes a drink from her wine bottle and waits for the bouncers to step in.

" Malgant waits for Appolo to respond. He was not this firm with Arminas when he first met the Swords of Light, and forever regreted it whenever there were prisoners in tow. On his oath as a Protector of Domi he swore he would not stand by and let that happen again. Once everyone has departed for their rooms, Malgant turns and regards Berlon. Some cross words are played back and forth amidst the assembled group of heroes and each are led to their respective roooms and baths. Due to several generous party members and a mysterious donor the cost of full baths is covered and soon everyone is feeling refreshed, clean and more relaxed. After a brief rest, a gong sounds from below signaling the time for the evening meal.
As you all get downstairs and seated, at a table directly under the voluptuous figurehead, several family style platters are brought to the table with two types of meat, an assortment of fish and an abundance of vegetables and greenery. There are also several different types of bread ready to be cut and several pitchers containing ale and wine available. interestingly enough none of the pitchers contains water.
As soon as you have each filled a trencher with food and a glass with the beverage of choice a very strange thing occurs. Those of you who have been here before know that Livia, the ship's figurehead, is both intelligent and annimated and has a tendency to chat. This time however things are a bit different.
The normally sultry and kind of sailorish voice comes out in a very raspy, strained and pleading, dark voice unlike anything heard from Livia, but you are all familiar with this particuar voice.
Are you the ones? Are you finally near? Long indeed the sword sleeps. I wait and evil grows ever stronger. Are you the Ones?
The room goes stone quiet and then it is almost as if a volcanoe erupts as the yelling, shouting and speculation around you begins.
Just as suddenyl everything goes quiet again as you realize that eveyone is looking at Livia who is staring directly at your table. This time in her own soft voice she queries you.
Are you the ones? Are you the Ones?
At that moment you realize that you have the eyes and attention of everyone in the Inn.

Having had the vision disturbing his rest for at least a week now Malgant is quite ready to find out what it is that they have been gathered to do. He shoots a glance around the table, making sure that each of the others is prepared in whatever way they wish. This done he speaks in an even voice two distinct words. " We are."
Aztyr's arrival Saturday February 16th, 2008 10:34:47 PM
Aztyr had spent the most of the last week still a ship, and even there she kept getting the vision. Her mentor had said that occasinally visions were granted, but one should never expect one, and here she was only a few months into her journey and she recieved one. For the 4 days still on board the ship she was sailing on, she spent the time doing what a shaman does, contemplating and trying to remember the signs she was given. The boat docked and she rushed off following the signs. Her rushing almost got her in trouble, but she managed to avoid it, not sure how, but she did and was out of the city finally. That's when she started to really move, she had a feeling she was behind and her gut said to run, so she did. It was good to run after so long on board a ship, there was barely enough room to stretch, let alone move about very much. She spotted the Inn from her vision ahead and slowed down, she wasn't paying much attention to the other customers, so she missed the group gathered at first and went to the bar to pay for a bath. Which she decided was first priority. She'd gotten back upstairs and ordered a drink and dinner when the gong sounded. She was again just a table away from the rest, because she didn't really see that part of the vision, just the land marks and heard the voice.... When the Figurehead spoke in that voice, and asked the same words as the vision, She dropped her hands to her swords and then turned and answered at just about the same time as Malagant did. "Yes"
Val Sunday February 17th, 2008 8:39:41 AM
Val stabbed a piece of fish with her knife. With obvious practice she takes the morsel into her mouth without cutting herself. Val kept eating. She didn't glance at the patrons staring slack jawed at their table.
"Malgant you don't know that. You can assume that but you don't know for sure. Yes we all arrived at the same time under strange circumstances. But that doesn't explain why she said yes and we don't know her." Val said and pointed her knife at Aztyr

DM Kent (interim continuation Post) Sunday February 17th, 2008 2:44:35 PM
As several of the group and at least on stranger call out "Aye" to the query, Livia's voice changes again and begins to chant in a sing-song lilt.
When the water's on fire and death's at the door, look for the heroes called by bones and sword.
From Valley, and Dirt and Heart they roam. By the number of three shall they truly be known.
Three women, six men and three of them Taurs, the wold shall tremble at Gargul's three's roar.
The call for good is never quite gone and always is present when evil is strong.
A call to the wood, will aid in their cause and rest will be welcome for feet and for paws.
Quenched by the fire and etched by water Black is the problem and becomes the squatter.
Through darknesss and fire and water they pass. For storms shall sink those with much lighter mass.
The fiery skull will keep its faith and the sword once lost shall be put to the lathe.
Will heroes prevail it's still to be seen. Failure is likely for those of weak mien.
Val Monday February 18th, 2008 12:52:00 AM
Val takes a drink of wine, or tries to but the bottle is empty. She set it down on the table and sat in silence for a moment. "Well some of that is too accurrate to be coincidental and I'm guessing we all feel the same way."
Val curses with a skilled tongue that fits one who has lived at sea. "I wasn't sure what to do next but cryptic prophecies was not on the list. I'm not sure what is exactly going on but I'm guessing its some great evil looking for a challenge. If thats the case then this evil should have left us alone. I for one am in no mood for this after the last couple weeks I've had."
Vorelle Monday February 18th, 2008 3:07:46 AM
Vorelle clearly remembers the figurehead; communicating with it without having to speak stands out in her memory as one of the most wonderful and unusual experiences she's ever had.
But now...she shivers a little as the prophecy echoes in her mind. It sounds as if the stakes are very high. Are they up to the challenge?
Are we the ones? she thinks toward the figurehead. And did you call us? Or was it someone else?
"See? This would be a *perfect* chance to say something along the lines of 'See, Young Theo? *This* is why you don't talk to strange, half-naked, animated wooden women!' but noooo..."
"Oh dear," Berlon continues, "I've made myself sad..."
OOC: Sent the google docs link to Kent but I still can't get it to link up.
Aztyr Monday February 18th, 2008 12:51:53 PM
Aztyr takes a few moments thinking over the song, when she's done she looks over the large table with the other group. Doing the adding, the numbers come up right, only if she includes herself along with them. "I guess, that I am destined to join you, that seems to make the munbers match up. It also seems to go along with the visions I've had starting about a week ago. Oh, how rude of me, My name is Aztyr, I'm a Trainee Shaman." (pronounced like the flower)
Bart Monday February 18th, 2008 1:34:03 PM
Why is it that you speak in riddles, cant u be clear? I dont like riddles to much confusion, too much unsaid. Tell us what has to be done, finding a sword in the mouth of an vulcanis island that ruins the water of the lake? Is that what you mean?
Appolo Monday February 18th, 2008 6:09:35 PM
Appolo looks over at the figurehead"Stop with the stupid riddles.Just tell us where to go and who to kill. That's what it always comes down to killing."He drinks down some horsemasters breww and continues to eat.
Vauhwyt Monday February 18th, 2008 7:05:11 PM
"Um, what is it talking about, Boss," caws Vauhwyt's familiar raven.
"Got me, Mookie, but it sounds like adventurre!" says his master.
Vauhwyt listens to Appolo and Bart. "Come on, you guys," she says. "You sound like grizzled old men! This is exciting! It is a quest! It is the reason we are herre! This is our mission. I for one am happy to have a purpose in my life again."
She turns to the figurehead and bows. "Tell us more, noble oracle," she says. "We are pleased to serve a cause that is just and right!"
Mookie caws, "I just hope there's some treasure!"

DM Kent Monday February 18th, 2008 7:40:52 PM
If the room was silent before, now it is deathly. So much so that each and every word each of you speaks seems to ring through the inn. A liontaur approaches your table announcing that she too has been plagued by visions and dreams. It does seem as if she does fill the bill as a third individual of taurian and female persuasion. Though as you look around at each other there does seem to be something off. While there are pretty obviously two who call Gargul their master their does not appear to be a third in you group and there seems to be one male missing as well as you number only eight at the moment.
That aside there are questions and grumbles about prophecies and straight talk and adventure and yes even treasure, and everyone seems to be looking to Livia for answers.
Meanwhile the figurehead looks like she might were she severely hungover and looks a bit cross to boot as she looks around the room.
After a moment her head turns and she her eyes bore straight into Vorelle's, and then she speaks.
"Why are you asking me? I certainly am not calling people here. What do I care if you are the ones? I am stuck in this bar never again to sail the wide open sea with the wind blowing through my hair and the salty spray pinking up my cheeks. Though woe is to me even if I could sail again now I would likely be burned beyond recognition."
"As for answers, I am not very good with riddles and prophecy just gives me a major headache, though I suppose if you want answers, you should do like that riddle said make a "call on the woods." This sounds just like Prisilla's kind of thing."
Lorth Tuesday February 19th, 2008 7:58:22 AM
The door to the inn opens quickly with a slight squeak, walking purposely into the common room is a man dressed in full plate, long sword across his back, a large highly detailed painted eye of Gargul adorns his shield. He pauses in the doorway his eyes noting the inns patrons quickly. They light up with familiarity when he sees the large minotaur in the room. Moving towards Malgant, he removes his helmet and extends his hand. "It is good to see you friend Malgant.", he says sincerely, "I've been on the road for some time since the rest of our friends went their separate ways. A familiar face is always a welcome sight." He then pauses expecting a reply.
(OOC: Lorth has Brown hair and eyes. He wears gray traveler's clothes, and a fitted vest, over which is his, highly polished, full plate armor. The eye of Gargul adorns his large steel shield. Slung across his back is a large backpack and longsword.
Lorth walks with purpose, his stature tall and driven, as if something is leading him to some unknown destination.)
Val Tuesday February 19th, 2008 9:41:39 AM
Except for the eyes of Gargul Val doesn't pay any attention to the second stranger to approach their table. Val was hoping to sit back and just enjoy being alive but the shorter lived races seemed excited by thought of a new adventure. If she had to put up with this enthusiasm all her life it would drive her crazy. Val was still young for an elf and had several centuries of life ahead of her.
Val turns to the figurehead, "I'll see if I can find a way to bring the ocean wind and the smell of the sea back to you. I spent the last several years on the sea. I could tell you of my tales."
ooc: Val is an apparent dark elf. But she has two different colored eyes and short red gold hair. She wears elven shair armor and there is a misty, transparent warhammer on the table before her.

Vauhwyt and Mookie Tuesday February 19th, 2008 12:20:36 PM
"Thank you, lady," says Vauhwyt.
When she sees Aztyr, at first Vauhwyt is too surprised to say anything. Then she springs up and holds out her hands to the newcomer. "Wowsy," she says, using a bit of slang that usually only liontaur cubs say, "a sisterr!"
She speaks in common, with a slight accent.
"Welcome! I am Vauhwyt, a sorcerer and warrior."
"Also a trickster and a goof," caws Mookie.
"This is my familiar, Mookie," she says, about her raven.
"Please come join us."
When Lorth enters, the liontaur is glad to see that he greets Malgant as a friend. "And it seems that our company is complete!" She bows and welcomes the paladin. "I too honor Gargul, equally with the Lady of Vengeance. It is an honor. I am Vauhwyt,"
Vauhwyt pronounces her name like "vow-wet." Her voice is high in pitch [OOC: think of Karen from that Will and Grace show.]
Vauhwyt is a wemic in spiked padded armor, wearing a cloak. She has a spiked chain over her shoulder. Her raven familiar has a silver band on his head and an Ioun Stone circling.
Bart Tuesday February 19th, 2008 2:38:25 PM
Val is right if you want we can get u out of this inn and bring u back to sea maybe u can hunt down a black ship with us. Someone one it stole an important artefact from us.
Did you hear about a black ship? Bart asks at his tablepartners
Vauwyt i dont like riddles to unclear to me, it is apollo says just say what has to be done, and now we have to "Call on woods" Do we have to ask someone to bring in some fire wood? Has someone cast a spell speak with plants, comune with nature, call woodland beings, using a tree as a drum? u see unclear to me
Vauhwyt Tuesday February 19th, 2008 3:22:17 PM
"I think the ship-lady has a wonderful idea -- why don't we enter the nearby forest and ask the wise-witch Priscilla? She was always a friend to my old group. She's eccentric, but her heart is definitely in the right place."
Vorelle Tuesday February 19th, 2008 5:18:20 PM
The arrival of yet another stranger has Vorelle staring very hard at the table.
I'm sorry, she thinks at the figurehead. I didn't mean to upset you. She remembers the cheerful, talkative figurehead she'd encountered before. Clearly, the woman (statue? creature?) had undergone some trying experiences since then.
Malgant Tuesday February 19th, 2008 5:37:56 PM
" LORTH! Of all of the Swords of Light I would have expected you to stay and watch over Jarlswolf. If the spirit of adventure has come over you Lorth it appears we have need of a worshiper of Gargul to round out our numbers. For myself I would be very happy to have your sword and lance on our side should we encounter a fight. Pull up a chair and join us. It sounds like we have some things to discuss." As Malgant recognizes his friend entering the Inn and stepping over to the table he stands and heartily shakes Lorth's hand. " Into another of the Wold's living woods eh? Vauhwyt, what can you tell us about the woods of Blackbird Lake? I have traveled through the Culverwood twice now and find it to have been quite beautiful, so long as you stay on it's good side. Keeping fires small and well tended, made from only deadwood so as not to harm the forest itself. Are these woods much different?"
Appolo Tuesday February 19th, 2008 6:11:27 PM
Appolo continues to eat and drink he look over at the new guy.He stops eating and stands"Hello Lorth names Appolo.I'm from Asildur, formly of the Pirates of Jack and Swords of Redemption.Sworn enemy of G'aal.Welcome to our group."Appolo makes introductions for everyone.Pointing out Valanthe Bart Vorrel,Vaught and Mookie,Aztyr.Hoping the others don't mind as he makes sure everyone gets introduced to everyone.Appolo is tall just over 6 and Half feet leather armour of motled colours nothing shiny or showy,He has extremely long braided dark brown hir blue eyes anda deepluxurious bronz tan.
Looking around the table"You know we don't have to do what the visions say.We can go our own way."
Aztyr Tuesday February 19th, 2008 7:35:07 PM
As Vauhwyt welcomes her, Aztyr feels the warmth of her Greeting. "Greetings Sister, have you been away a long time? As in away from the Plains? I myself have been traveling further away as my quest goes, that is until the visions started a week ago." Aztyr moves her food and drink to the bigger table, since it appeared they were all together now. Turning to Appolo, "I have found when you ignore certain types of visions, all you do is bring more trouble onto yourself, than if you listened from the start. Why do you think I almost ran for two days to reach this place. I was worried something more drastic to get my attention would soon start." Aztyr nods to the human that arrived who is obviously a friend of the minotaur Malgant.
Dm Kent Tuesday February 19th, 2008 11:15:45 PM
Introductions are made, as is space at the table. Questions about each other and the Woods are asked as well as someone mentions Priscilla. Food and drink are consumed as the evening progresses, and fewer and fewer strange looks are cast your way as no other strange voices or prophecies are forth coming.
(ooc> ok al make you plands and decisions quickly so we can really kick this into high gear.)
Lorth Wednesday February 20th, 2008 8:01:14 AM
Lorth turns directly to Vauhwyt and bows when she address's him, "The honor is mine, lady." He then offer his hand. When she seems done with him he turns to Appolo and greets him as he stands. He nods greetings to everyone Appolo introduces, offering his hand if anyone seems inclined to take it...
Turning and smiling at Malgant, Lorth says, "Well Jarlswolf seems to be in good hands these days, so I've been doing a bit of wandering and soul searching. That led me here, perhaps it is not a coincidence that you are here also?"
He continues to stand as the various people discuss the situation.
Val Wednesday February 20th, 2008 10:12:23 AM
Val rolls her eyes and sighs. She picks up the empty wine bottle adn turns it over hoping there is something left. Unfortunately there is not. She never would have guessed that she would go from the pirates to the circus. But with two liontaur's and a massive minotaur anywhere they go will attract a ton of attention. Not to forget that people just assume she's a dark elf. Well she is but she's also all the other elves to. Though she can't breathe underwater.
"Well in the morning I'm going to find this Priscilla. It's the only lead we have."
Bart Wednesday February 20th, 2008 2:50:15 PM
Is there anyone whow knows something about this Priscilla woman? I will ask the innkeeper over there and order u another bottle of wine
Vauhwyt and Mookie Wednesday February 20th, 2008 3:23:21 PM
Vauhwyt says, "Sure! We Dirt City folks know a lots!"
"Priscilla is a witch. Her familiar is a vulture named Warrick. She has a house on stilts that can walk, I think. She has a cauldron and all the usual witch stuff. She is friendly and nice, but a little eccentric. She helped us fight Marteus Cultists."
"The Blackbird Forest is strange. I don't know if it is like the Culverwood or not because we never went therre. Blackbird Forest likes blackbirds. Don't travel there unless you have at least one."
"Yeah," caws Mookie, "We're indisposable!"
"Indispensable," says Vauwhyt.
"That too!" caws Mookie.
"Anyway, the forest is sleepy, and when it dreams, it can take you to other times or places or dimensions or such. That's not good, because mostly you never get back. So when you travel in the wood, you have to keep singing or making music the whole time to keep the forest awake. Sometimes when it wakes up, it drops stuff on you. We got attacked by a strange out-of-place monsterr -- what was it Vorelle? -- and found a skeleton from a giant lizard that had a jewelled collar. For example."
"Oh, as I recall, Priscilla's house has lots of wind chimes all over it to keep the forest awake."
Aztyr Wednesday February 20th, 2008 3:26:54 PM
Aztyr shakes the human's hand as it's offered and says "Hi" to him. As Val suggests finding Priscilla, Aztyr nods in agreement, then asks a question of her "I've seen elves in passing before in the couple cities I stopped in. But you look different, and I don't mean just your skin. Can you explain, or is it too personal?"
Appolo Wednesday February 20th, 2008 5:58:40 PM
Appolo pipes in"Then it's settled tommorrow morning we go find this witch. As far as noise goes I don't think we'll havea problem there,as long as Mookie is around."When Aztyr asks her question Appolo just looks at Val.He'll let her field that one.
Malgant Wednesday February 20th, 2008 7:15:30 PM
" Wind chimes were just what I was thinking of too. How else could you continue to make noise while you slept....reliably at least. I mean not everyone snores all the time. Is it far to Priscillia's house Vauhwyt? should we pick up some chimes before we go there tomorrow?" Listening to the others Malgant heas Aztyr ask the question that had been on his mind as well. Val looked mostly like what dark elves had sounded like they looked like, but was not openly hostile or apparently cruel as he had heard they could be. This appearance did not bother Malgant though because he tried to take people for what they were. After all, how often did he enter a town and see mothers draw their children close to keep them away from the 'monster'. This kind of blind acceptance had gotten him in trouble before, but it had also served him well, so he continued to follow it.
Vorelle Wednesday February 20th, 2008 7:43:37 PM
Vorelle squirms uncomfortably when Appollo introduces her, and risks a quick glance at the tall stranger named Lorth. Seeing that he is every bit as handsome as Valdor, Vorelle suddenly becomes veryinterested in the table.
But then Vauhwyt asks her a direct question, and she has to answer--or at least try.
"A sk-sk-sk-sk-sk-sk," she sputters, very conscious of the spectacle she is making. She pauses, takes a deep breath, and tries again. "A sq-sq-sq-sq-squid," she finally manages. Her face flames scarlet, and she squirms some more.
Val Wednesday February 20th, 2008 8:47:48 PM
Val would have taken a drink of wine but she was out. "This...." She says and moves her hand up and down her beautiful body, "Is not the way I was born. To make a long story short because this is neither the time nor the place for such tales, this body is the gift of the mother of elves. The magic of her valley is strange and unpredictable. I died there and woke up as I am now. I am composed of all the elven races. Before I used to have a very bad temper. I always thought that the skin color was a message. Though now that I've gotten it under control I still have the obsidian skin. I don't really mind. It keeps people away that I wouldn't want to talk to anyway. Plus I look a lot sexier now dripping wet than I did before."
Val looks over at Vorelle and leans forward a little. Softly she asks, "Vorelle would you like to accompany me to the bar. We need more drink for all these people."
DM Kent Wednesday February 20th, 2008 11:43:32 PM
Dinner proceeds and info is shared. There is some discussion about picking up some wind chimes of their own during which there is a bit of entertainment, in the way of a couple of average traveling minstrels and then after a few more drinks everyone heads up to their rooms, with the plan of heading into the Woods and seeking Priscilla out. By every reckoning, because her house is mobile and is only found when it wants/needs to be, the search for Priscilla could be from 1-3 days with luck.
The night passes quickly and quietly and in the morning everyone wakes refreshed and ready to go. When everyone meets back sownstairs for to break fast, they realize they are one short as Berlon seesm to be nowhere in the inn. And come to think of it he had not joined you all as you went up to bed either having said he wanted to talk with the musicians for a bit.
Lorth Thursday February 21st, 2008 7:38:02 AM
Lorth is up early, he sits in the common room waiting on his new companions. His armor is arrayed perfectly on the table in front of him and he polishes each piece with determination, before strapping it to his body. He then gives his gear the once over and checks the edge on his sword. After finishing this morning ritual, he attempts to order some breakfast. He eats whatever is offered much more interested in his armor and gear than what is presented for eating.
Bart Thursday February 21st, 2008 10:46:23 AM
Bart enters the breakfast hall just after Lorth. Ho Lorth i saw u where a fighter too. Maybe we can excersise just after breakfast together. I'm an adile fighter i dont use heavy armors although its magical enchanted and very light. Im wearing it now it's almost invisible underneath my clothing. What do you think aboput tjis enchanted forrest and that witch. I wonder what the problem is.
Aztyr Thursday February 21st, 2008 12:26:31 PM
Aztyr, arrives at the table while Lorth is still polishing various pieces, and she watchs him carefully. She thinks it strange to spend so much time at it, but for him it seems almost a ritual, and even she understands the meaning of rituals, at least she'd better after the years of study, or her mentor might just show up and swat her. "lorth, I take it your focus on polishing each piece is like saying a blessing over it for protection? I ask only because I'm trying to learn the ways of others, if it is private, you can refuse to answer, and I will say no more." She orders a large breakfast, not knowing how far they have to travel, plus there are the rest yet to get to the table, so none will probably go to waste. Speaking of others, out of a shoulder bag, a hand/paw of a small furry creature reaches up a few times to the table and snatches at food and vanishes back into the bag, Aztyr seems not to notice it and watches for the others to arrive.
Vauhwyt Thursday February 21st, 2008 1:51:52 PM
Vauhwyt indulges in a very long bath, and then sleeps in a little more than somewhat. Finally, Mookie wakes her with his unlovely voice.
"Boss! Boss! Wake up! The early birds are catching all the worms, and there won't be any left for me!"
She gets to the common room in time to grab some bread and sausage, and then to hit the road. She mentions to the staff that they would like a ferry ride across the river.
She leads the party around the back of the inn to the boat launch on the river's bank.
"Come on you guys! Let's get moving!" says the late-rising liontaur.
Val Thursday February 21st, 2008 3:55:54 PM
Val took a seat at the bar just for the purpose of eating breakfast without armor on the table. She's dressed in elven chain, the fine links looking dull under the light. The ranger has a quiver full of arrows on her back and a ghostly warhammer on her hip. Her breakfast is light consisting of eggs, bacon, and some juice. She looks around for Malgant wondering if she should try to find the large minotaur.
Malgant Thursday February 21st, 2008 5:38:30 PM
Waking early, Malgant carries his gear out of the room in order to put it on without waking the others. He passes Lorth, busy at one of the tables in the common room tediously polishing his armor....again. Malgant sighs and straps on his steely shell and heads outside to the yard to say his morning prayers. Unsheathing his greatsword he passes through the prayer stations , taking his time . As he prays he ponders all of his new companions. They have some differences, but are all, or almost all, willing to head out on this adventure and see what evil it is that has lain dormant for all this time and now stirs, needing heros to put it to rest. The sword rolls through firey arcs as he continues to pray. He goes over the prophecy again in his thoughts as he prays, looking for more insight into its meaning. He finds no solid leads in the prophecy and so keeps the spells he asks to be granted general as well, so that he can be flexible enough to be ready for whatever they find. His prayers complete he goes inside and orders something to eat, awaiting the rest of the group so that they can all set out together.
Appolo Thursday February 21st, 2008 5:48:47 PM
Appolo arrives in the common room in full gear,.He is relaxed and ready. He has a seat and quietly eats,Once he is done eating he looks around for Berlon.Heading over to Lorth"Hello good morning. You haven't seen Berlon the gnome around have you. He's about 3 ft tall or so."
Vauhwyt Thursday February 21st, 2008 6:24:38 PM
"Hey!" In the rush she missed that Berlon was missing. "Where's Berlon? If we were in Dirt City, I'd go look in his shop. But where could he have gone to?"
She will ask the staff to help search.
Vorelle and Champ d20+15=33 Thursday February 21st, 2008 7:08:52 PM
In the evening, Vorelle is grateful for Val's timely intervention. She gladly accompanies the elf to the bar to get more drinks for the group, then makes a quiet escape to her room.
In the morning, she rises early and spends a bit of time walking around the inn, taking in the surroundings, seeing what kind of day it's going to be. Champ assists her by barking at squirrels and digging up random bits of forest loam. [Survival 33]
She returns to the inn and has a bit of breakfast, smiling at Val and Vauhwyt, nodding to Bart and Aztyr, and giving the others a wide berth.
When the group is ready to go, she accompanies them--a slender figure in shapeless clothes, topped with a cloak that seems to blend into the background.
Champ sniffs happily at all of the party members, and barks at Mookie.
Lorth Friday February 22nd, 2008 11:33:17 AM
Lorth greets all his companions as they each make their way to the common room, in their own time.
He glances up quickly when Bart speaks to him. "Bart, I would be honored to practice with you if we have the time. Sadly I know nothing about this enchanted forest as I am not from this area, and I'm really not one to speculate. Rather I'll wait to see what happens when we go there.", Lorth says.
When Aztyr greets him, without looking up, Lorth begins, "You are correct, it is a ritual of sorts. I like to make sure that everything I own is in perfect shape, so that it doesn't fail me when I need it most. Plus it clears my head in the morning for what will follow during the day. I find it, quite calming."
"Apollo, I am sorry, I have not seen any gnomes this morning."
Lorth will spar with Bart if there is time, but it doesn't look like there will be.
(OOC: This is my friday post as I couldn't wait for the DM's post as I am just about to leave for the weekend and won't be able to post till monday. Have a good weekend.)
Vauhwyt Saturday February 23rd, 2008 8:58:04 AM
Seeing as she cannot find the gnome, Vauhwyt shrugs and says she hopes he will catch up later. "He's always been a funny one. That's what I like about him!"
She heads for the river and the inn's ferry.
Dm Kent Saturday February 23rd, 2008 9:40:25 AM
(Sorry all, My dad was back in Duke and I needed to be there.)
The queries about Berlon are over heard by a staff member and soon a very abashed young boy perhaps 10 years old approaches Vauhwyt.
"U-u-u-mmmm, I mean, well, I hope. awww man."
(the poor boy is obviously afraid that he has done something horrible and is about to be punished for it) and so all of a sudden after his stammering start it all comes rushing out at once.
As he finishes he holds out a small piece of parchment that trembles as he holds it.
Vauhwyt and others,
I am sorry to imform you that I willnot be joining you at this time as I have gotten this mysteriously marvelous missive from one of the members of the Platinum Dragons about a piece of equipment they have found and don't know what it is and they have asked for my help with it. So I am off and will rejoin you when I may.
Your friend and companion,
Berlon Daengle
Breakfasts, morning devotions, exercises, studies and sparring is taken care of and enjoyed by all although Lorth realises early on in his session with Bart that he is overmatched and has a few bruises to show for it. Even so Lorth was able to give a pretty good accounting as well.
The message soon comes back that the next ferry is leaving in 10 minutes, so everyone gathers their things and heads over to the ferry landing.
Interestingly enough, to those who have bee here before there is definitely a difference here today. While there are several boats and the ferry boat resting in the water you realise suddenly that all the bosts in dry dock and even those in the water have been fitted with a metal sheathe that covers the part of the hull that comes into contact with the water.
You don't have a whole lot of time to inspect this however as there seesm to be quite a lot of traffic heading across the river and into the forest today as there appear to already be two groups of people already aboard. There also seems to be an awful lot of black feathered birds accompanying them as all but two persons on the ferry have some sort of bird with them; some the likes of you have never before seen. One squawks a greeting to you as you come aboard. He is perched nearby the steering pole.
"Gooud Daiy, Naymes Barney. Awll Awbord"
Malgant Saturday February 23rd, 2008 10:55:58 AM
Quietly, to the group, Malgant mentions " Oh, after that prophecy I don't like the looks of this." Indicating the metal sheathe on the boats. To the captain he strikes a more inquisitive tone. "Good morning sir. We would like to buy passage to the other side please. Just curious, Why do all the boats seem to have this metal plating on their hulls? Has the water been abnormally hot?" All the time he is speaking, the prophecy keeps running through his mind.
When the water's on fire and death's at the door, look for the heroes called by bones and sword.
From Valley, and Dirt and Heart they roam. By the number of three shall they truly be known.

Will heroes prevail it's still to be seen. Failure is likely for those of weak mien.
Sure looks like the water's on fire, He thinks. Not really looking forward to the Death at the door part. I hope the witch we are going to see is alright.
As they cross Malgant speaks to each member of the group in turn, taking a platinum ring from the totem bag around his neck and giving it to each of them. He repeats the same thing to each in turn. " This ring is not magical. However it allows one of my spells to 'find' you and allow me to shield you from some of the damage you might take from an attack. Since I am not enough of a diviner to know which of you might need to be wearing this ring on any given day, I would like all of you to wear one so that if the need arises I can use that spell on you."
OOC Malgant passes out the components for Shield Other to the members of the group. You may have noticed yesterday in the Inn that his fingers were covered with rings, identaclal to the ones he is handing out.
Vorelle and Champ Sunday February 24th, 2008 3:01:17 PM
Vorelle goes with the others to the ferry. She sighs a little when she sees it. She doesn't like boats. Still the ferry isn't too bad. She steps cautiously aboard, and moves aside to make room for others.
Champ noses about, discovering new smells.
Vorelle takes a ring from Maglant, and slips it onto her ring finger. It promptly slides off. She tries a few other fingers, and finally gets it to stay pretty securely on her index finger. She puts her glove back on and hopes the whole thing stays in place.
Lorth Monday February 25th, 2008 7:41:19 AM
Lorth follows his new companions to the docks. Eying the boats warily, he resigns himself to this new adventure. Boats make him nervous, after all he does wear very heavy armor.
When Malgant offers the ring, Lorth holds up his hand, "I still have the one you gave me some time ago."
Appolo d20+10=27 Monday February 25th, 2008 10:31:18 AM
Appolo reads the note"Well at least he's ok.I glad for that."He then boards the boat.He happily takes the ring from Malgant"Thank you."He says as he slides it on his finger.Hewalks to the front of the ship casually looking out over the lake.

Val Monday February 25th, 2008 11:54:27 AM
Val takes th ring and slides it onto her finger. She holds her hand up, the platinum band contrasting with her obsidian skin.
"Not the kind of ring I'd expect to get from a man but I'll take it."
Val stands near the edge of the ferry, gazing across to the mystical forest. "I think I should find me one of those birds and avoid shooting any with my bow."
Vauhwyt and Mookie Monday February 25th, 2008 2:52:47 PM
Vauwhyt is sad to hear about Berlon. "I hope we meet him again some time."
At the ferry, she smiles at the folk seeking to cross. She greets Barney and introduces herself and Mookie. She thanks Mal for the ring. "You are very kind."
She introduces herself boldly to the other parties, asking what brings them into the wood, and if they have heard word of Goodwitch Priscilla.
OOC Note to Appolo and others on Geography. We are crossing the river to the Forest. Blackbird Lake is beyond the forest. Check out this map for more info:
We are at the Tears of the Wood inn, crossing the river and heading west into the forest. That map does not label the forest Blackbird Forest -- but it is.
Aztyr Monday February 25th, 2008 3:58:16 PM
Aztyr has no problem getting on a boat again, although this one is obviously only for crossing the river. As Malgant offers her the ring, she hesitates a moment, until he explains what it's for and she gladly takes it, finding that it only fits on her pinky finger. About this time the creature that had been rummaging around in one of her bags, sticks it's head out and climbs up on her shoulder, it looks like a weazle of a type, Vauhwyt would recognize it from back home as a meerkat. It takes its time examining everyone in the group + those just traveling accross the river.
Malgant Monday February 25th, 2008 4:46:02 PM
"Ah, I still have the match to that one Lorth, Very good. Oh, and don't wory about the river. The prophecy spoke of water, and we were told last night about crossing the river to get to the forest. I am prepared if you should decide to take a dip fully armored."
DM Kent Monday February 25th, 2008 11:16:47 PM
The group joins the others crossing the river and prepare to head off on their first step toward some answers.
Only one of the passengers stands out at all and only then becaue he is the only elf you have seen any where near the inn since you have been there. (enter TIM)
Malgant asks the feery operator about the metal hulls to the boats and gets a quick shake of the head and an answer.
Well, we dont wan' take any chances roun here bouts. Theres stories bout half dozen or so boats juss being basically melted down t'nuthin and all the folks in em getting right burnt up after fallin inthe water. Now we ainmt seen any that roun here yet, but... better safe than sorry.
Lorth Tuesday February 26th, 2008 7:18:15 AM
Lorth finds himself a place near the center of the boat on deck. There he stands scanning the approaching river bank as they cross. He will be happy to disembark when the journey is over.
Vauhwyt Tuesday February 26th, 2008 10:09:19 AM
Something about that elf looks familiar ... could it be?
Olyn Tuesday February 26th, 2008 11:34:23 AM
Vauhwyt, Vorelle, fancy meeting you two here.
Vorelle Tuesday February 26th, 2008 1:15:09 PM
"O-Olyn!" Vorelle says with a little smile. "How d-did you f-f-find us?"
Olyn Tuesday February 26th, 2008 2:16:24 PM
Walking up to Vorelle and Vauhwyt. It seems that fate has brought us together again. <spying the others following them or those arriving ahead of them> /motioning to the other adventurer types. Friends of yours?
<side note, V and V> you do notice the dice tattoo's on his forearms are gone without a mark showing they were ever there.
(ooc) forgot to describe who you see: An elf, young, closing on middle aged, weathered, Golden color hair and hazel eyes. Average height for an Elf but on the thin side. Wearing a nice tan colored tunic with a matching vest, high collared. Trousers that match, belt and comfortable looking boots. A quiver with arrows attached to the right side of the belt, a waterskin to the left. Has a pack next to him on the ground, with a longbow in his left hand and a heavy wooden shield with small feathered wings around the circumference leaning on the pack. A pin attached to his right collar, white gold band on his right forefinger, and hanging on a chain around his neck, the symbol denoting the Gods' of the Wold, not just 1 particular god.
Aztyr Tuesday February 26th, 2008 2:52:44 PM
As part of the group greets the Elf as an old friend, Astyr will introduce herself after the question about friends of yours... "Hello, I'm Aztyr. Are you destined to join us?"
Olyn Tuesday February 26th, 2008 3:08:55 PM
Greetings Aztyr. As for destined to join you, that depends, are you searching for a person named Priscilla?
Vauhwyt Tuesday February 26th, 2008 3:30:22 PM
The liontaur grins broadly when she sees who it is. Olyn! she shouts. "It is great to meet you here!"
"Yes, we ARE looking for Priscilla. We have all been called together by some mysterious powerr. Something about fighting evil, so that sounds good to me."
She introduces Olyn to her other friends.
"Appolo and Bart and Val you may remember from when we fought those Marteus cultists on Blackbird Lake. Aztyr, Malgant, and Lorth are new, but so far are well met, I would say."
=====
By the way, when Aztyr shows the meercat, Vauhwyt is as unfamiliar with it as anyone. "Oh," she explains to her sister taur, "I spent most of my cub time on ships with my family, and frankly remember too little about my childhood."
Val Tuesday February 26th, 2008 6:21:04 PM
The dark elf with the short red gold hair was leaning on a railing, gazing out at the water. She raises a hand to say hello but doesn't turn around.
Appolo Tuesday February 26th, 2008 8:26:46 PM
Appolo is up front on the bow looking out over the lake watching things.
When he turns around there is and elf greeting Vorelle and Vauhwyt. He walks over"Hello. So you're going to jion us.Should be fun.Glad to cys you are wll my friend."It is clear Appolo recognizes Olyn,as extends his hand in friendship with smile.
Olyn Tuesday February 26th, 2008 8:51:13 PM
Readily accepts Appolo's hand and gives it a firm reply. Very nice to see you again Appolo. And it does seem that our paths lead to the same destination. <looks around> Where is my old friend Berlon? I assumed he would be here with you all.
DM kent Tuesday February 26th, 2008 9:24:24 PM
The ferry trip across the river is of no consequence and in the 15 minutes or so that it takes to cross, old friends are reunited and new friends are introduced.
As you disembark the landing is very sparse and seems like it is being crowded out by the forest. There is a small shelter and a pen for animals that are waiting for the ferry, but that is about it.
There are several paths leading into the forest and most of those that were crossing with you take the most left hand path as that seems to be the direction of their gathering and hunting is going to starting out and seems to meander along the edge of the forest for a good long while. The right hand path looks similar in that is flits among the edge of the trees and doesnt appear to go too deeply into the forest.
The center and final path looks a bit more ominous, as it leads directly into the forest and the path opening is draped with long beards of grey moss that looks like scraggly beards hanging from the trees.
Vorelle d20+17=28 Tuesday February 26th, 2008 11:29:29 PM
Although it's been a while (and the place has probably moved), Vorelle spends a moment trying to recall/predict the most logical route to Priscilla's strange abode.
[Survival 28]
Val Wednesday February 27th, 2008 6:52:39 AM
"I bet were going down that one." Val says and points to the ominus path.
Lorth Wednesday February 27th, 2008 7:28:29 AM
Lorth greets the newcomers but stays at the center of the boat. After disembarking, he readies himself to go down the center path. "It would probably make the most sense to take the center path since it goes directly into the forest."
Vauhwyt and Mookie d20+4=16 d20+1=10 Wednesday February 27th, 2008 12:59:52 PM
On the boat, Vauhwyt reveals what she knows of the other former Dark Horse Guilders: Berlon was called away on Dragon business. Theo went to Plateau City to be a Star Mage. Rose went missing but I think she is with her family. Oni and Dietrich I don't know. We are scattered.
She is thoughtful and quiet for the rest of the boat ride.
But on shore, showing no signs of trepidation, and in fact revealing (in the lift of her tail, in the spring of her step) a happy eagerness to move forward, Vauhwyt says, "Come on, friends!"
She takes out her masterwork flute. "I got this for a yuletide present years ago!" she says, "but I am no expert. I hope no one minds!"
She plays a merry tune and walks onto the center path. (Untrained Perform check 16)
Mookie pipes up, cawing in a mockery of song:
Hey Blackbird Wood! Oh Wood for Birds! I love it here! Better than turds! Please keep awake! And don't go to sleep! Our time and place here we want to keep!
Untrained Perform check 10 for Mookie.
Malgant d20-1=6 Wednesday February 27th, 2008 5:07:50 PM
Since Olyn seems for the time being at least to be joining their trek into the woods Malgant steps over and introduces himself. He hands Olyn one of the platinum rings, the one that Lorth declined since he still has it out. "Please wear this while you travel with us. It will allow me to shield you from some of the harm from an attack should that become necessary." If Mookie continues the song then the rest of them may as well join in. Malgant is pretty sure that they would not be sneaking up on anything anyway, due to himself and Lorth making a fair amount of noise in their armor.

Olyn Wednesday February 27th, 2008 5:25:31 PM
Well met Malgant and thank you for this ring. /slips it on his left forefinger.
Cringes when Mookie and Vauhwyt starts singing and playing the flute. Then Olyn walks up to the right of Vauhwyt, his normal spot while walking in a group, and again, cringes when a wrong note is hit or an offkey word is sung. But for the most part says nothing.
Then turning to Lorth he asks: So, has anyone figured out why we are being called?
Aztyr Wednesday February 27th, 2008 5:37:59 PM
About the time that the singing starts, she begins to wish her ears worked like a real cats does.... as in they could fold back.
Aztyr joins the group and walks near the middle of the group.
Appolo Wednesday February 27th, 2008 6:42:03 PM
Appolo steps on to shorelooking around. When the other start forward ins ong and in no particular order Appolo steps up"Whoe hold on my friends.Let's get organized.Lorth Vauhwyt come back.We need a marching order.Send the scouts first Vorelle,Val you two first. Then Lorth and myself ,Vauhwyt and Aztyr,Malgant and Bart. Finally Olyn you bring up and watch the rear and please we need to be as quiet as possible.Thank you."
Aztyr Wednesday February 27th, 2008 8:40:13 PM
<b>"Ummm... I thought the Idea was to keep the Forest Awake, and not to be quiet.... At least that's what I was led to believe. Am I incorrect?"
Val Wednesday February 27th, 2008 10:04:32 PM
"That's what they said. Though I'll let the forest take me before I sing. Appolo you need to calm down. Were not at war anymore. We have no army to fight. Not yet anyway. Right now were just a group of people out walking through the woods."
Malgant Wednesday February 27th, 2008 11:17:29 PM
Malgant stops, listens to Appolo for a moment, and then looks to the others. " Getting organized isn't a bad idea. However quiet ism't what we need here. Also while I can, and will heal, if I start off in the back, I will likely not even know a fight has started before it ends. so I won't ne staying back, thanks." Nalgant recalls the battle on Wolf Hill where at every turn in the fight he was too late to reach any of his friends or his opponents. He does not want a fight to go like that again. Besides, as a protector the best place for him to be is among the front line fighters. There he can aid them by strengthening their resolve, use his granted powers to make them harder to hit and if the need arises heal them. He does see the man's point at getting them ready for a fight. After all if the woods can drop a Squid on their heads..... what was a squid anyways?
