Dusty Passage  d20+4=11 d20+4=15 d20+4=23 d20+4=5 d20+4=16 d20+6=15 2d8(5+8)+4=17
Tuesday March 11th, 2008 10:28:12 PM

As the Chosen continue up the passage Zeoll cautions the group about the noise
Gecktar and the new monk move to the front line WinterGlade and Zeoll are in the middle and
Brahmah will take up the rear position in the group.

As you move up the passage the spiderwebs get thicker in both quantity and in size to almost the size of a human wrist. The passage opens up to a large cavern. You guess the cavern is about 30-40 feet high and your light does not reach the other end but you can still see the sides making it about 50 feet wide The passage slops down into the cavern and it is no longer a cut stone but a rocky dirt ground. The roof is covered in rocky outcropping marking it as a natural cave. The smell of decay still hangs heavy in the air and bits of bones can be seen strewn around the cave. Several large webs can be seen in among the rocks and on the celling as well.

No long after you reach the cave entrance (seconds) Several (5) 5 foot Spiders come charging out from a among the rocks

Both Gecktar and Buhll get swarmed (Take A AOO Gecktar)

Spider 1 2 3 Attack Buhll All miss the bouncing Monk
Spider 4 5 Attack Gecktar Both Miss

Winterglade AC27 Hp77(77)
Wednesday March 12th, 2008 5:36:02 AM

Winterglade puts on his shield [move action]. He expected spiders, but he thought that the worst case scenario was an arachnid the size of a sweetroll, not a small pony! "Ewww!" - his mane stands up from sheer disgust. "I wonder how those who came this way before us managed to bypass them!"

Then he moves behind one of the spiders [move action] in order to give flanking opportunities to others.

Brahmah
Wednesday March 12th, 2008 12:06:16 PM

OOC: Brahmah and Flat-top are members, not everyone else... maybe Gecktar. As long as we level and train for a short time in a city with a WLA branch, we can gain skill points toward a very limited number of skills. I have two things on the CS I need to finish, one is the WLA skills, the other is favored enemy. I will not fill in favored enemy during combat as I was leaning Vermin before the fight. :) Brahmah has a history of Entomophobia, but not a permenant one. Comes and goes.

IC: Brahmah HATES bugs, they are disgusting and large ones are no less foul. He protects the rear until needed.

Itsy Bitsy Spider......  d20+4=13 d20+4=7 d20+4=13 d20+4=24 d20+4=16 d20+4=8 d6=6 d4=4
Wednesday March 12th, 2008 9:56:44 PM

Winterglade puts on his shield expressing his disgust at the large spiders. He moves behind one of them (choose one please ;o)) in order to give someone the chance to flank them.

Brahmah is also not impressed with the spiders or with bugs of any kind and he moves to protect the rear of the party.

Spiders 1, 2, and 3 attack Buhll again all three managing to completely miss again.

Spiders 4 and 5 try to attack Gecktar hoping that they will strike this time. Spider 4 manages to hit him and does 6 dmg (DC12 Fort save or lose 4 strength against the poison, if fail saving throw then another one is needed after one minute to prevent further loss of strength)

Gecktar  d20+14=17 d20+10=24 d20+5=18 2d6(1+3)+7=11 2d6(1+6)+7=14
Thursday March 13th, 2008 4:12:01 AM

OOC: sorry, miss last post and then the AoO.

"Spiders !" just cry Gecktar as he sees the creatures to alrt his fellows.

The aggressive spiders manage to find a breach in his protection and Gecktar immediately feels the warm effect of the poison injected in the wound. But his body seems to fight it well (Save check 17).
He hands his hammer with his two hands and smashes the spider that just bit him (power attack -1 ; hit AC24 for 11 damage and AC18 for 14 damage).

Winterglade AC27 Hp77(77)
Thursday March 13th, 2008 7:52:45 AM

Winterglade continues to maintain a position that would make it easier for others to attacks spiders. He is hesitant to expend spells, as this enemy doesn't seem to be a critical threat [creating flanking option against, say, spider #1. If possible also against #2, as these are probably close]. "Come on, come on, let's finish them off before the really big hairy one comes this way!"

DM Kristel

OOC - Gecktar go ahead and take your AoO I will add it into the next post

Zeoll AC17 HP45 of 46, Heroism  d20+11=24 3d6(4+4+5)+1=14
Thursday March 13th, 2008 10:44:36 AM

Zeoll sees that the party is under attack! Since he is right there in the middle, he maneuvers around so that he and Glade are flanking one. As he moves he draws his greatsword. Then he attacks (spiders lose Dex bonus because he is invisible at the time)!

Zeoll is +2 from the Heroism spell, +2 from flanking, and +2 because he is invisible. His attack, at +11, hits AC24 for 14 hp damage to a spider.

He says to Winterglade, "Thanks, Glade! Try to distract that one, would you?" -- OOC: Marcin, you can use Aid Another, maybe?

Went up the water spout........
Thursday March 13th, 2008 11:33:06 PM

Winterglade continues to hold his defensive position hesitant on expending spells uselessly but he urges his companions to kill these 5 spiders before the really big one heads their way. He is now flanking spiders 1 and 2.

Gecktar manages to fight off the effects of the poison and he attacks spider 4 seeking revenge and is successful, the spider starts to wobble on its feet.

Zeoll moves so that he is flanking spider one opposite of Gecktar. He strikes at spider one hitting it dead on and the spider crumples to the ground only to struggle back up for another round. Zeoll encourages Winterglade to occupy the other spider.

Brahmah fires at Spider 5 and hits is successfully right in the eye. The spider now only seeing out of one eye is barely on its feet.

Spiders 1, 2 and 3 continue to attack Buhll hoping for at least a little success this time and yet again they miss badly.

Spider 4 attacks Winterglade again and misses horribly.

Spider 5 seeing a new target decides to take on Zeoll and manages to strike for 2 dmg (DC12 Fort save or lose 4 strength against the poison, if fail saving throw then another one is needed after one minute to prevent further loss of strength)

You see the Mama spider start moving up onto the ceiling and she seems to be heading your way. Her body alone not including her legs is about 25 ft round.

Winterglade AC27 Hp77(77)
Friday March 14th, 2008 8:14:11 AM

"Finish with the small ones first, yes? Winterglade will try to occupy that big one."

The centaur gulps, looks upward, and then runs toward the big spider, placing himself between it and the party. He hopes to draw its attention to himself, so he zig zags rapidly here and there [move action].

Once he is close to the monster he stands by, trusting in his shield to protect him [ready action: if the spider tries to attack him Winterglade will use his tower shield to give himself total cover from spider. In that case the spider will be able to attack the shield, but not Winterglade].

Friday March 14th, 2008 11:55:01 AM

Zeoll resists the effect of the poison easily (save 23)

Seeing brave Winterglade, Zeoll decides to take a chance on finishing the spider he has already wounded. He attacks with sword and paws, hitting AC21 for 8, AC18 for 4, and AC19 for 2 more -- total 14 more hp damage.

Zeoll takes a moment to grab a mandible, claw, or fang from the creature to add to his Totem Bag. He feels pretty happy with that -- it's been years since he defeated a foe entirely by himself in combat. He knows it is nothing to be that proud of -- Brahmah could have killed one of these things by looking at it funny -- but a big grin is on the liontaur's face anyway.

Winterglade gulps as he tries to occupy Mama spider. He runs this way and that zigging and zagging trying to draw its attention he also gets his shield ready just in case Mama decides to attack him.

Zeoll also manages to fight off the poison and he continues to attack spider 1 and he strikes successfully killing the spider. Once the spider has dropped to the ground Zeoll grabs one of the spiders mandibles to add to his totem bag proud of the fact that he managed to kill it off himself with no help.

Brahmah determined to kill spider 5 strikes at it again and sure enough he is succesful and this spider also drops dead to the ground wavering as it does as if it does not quite want to die yet.

Mama spider sees Glade running around and pauses to consider its choices.

Spiders 2 and 3 continue their attack on Buhll and again they miss terribly. They seem to be growing more frustrated.

Spider 4 attacks Zeoll again and also misses badly.

The centaur shifts his feet uneasily, his sight never leaving the monstrosity on the ceiling. "Damn it, Winterglade doesn't want to fight THAT! Think there's any chance we can push on and leave it behind?"

He tries to keep the attention of the big spider on him, ready to use his shield to protect himself should it pounce [ready action: use tower shield to give Winterglade full cover if the spider attacks].

Winterglade is not too happy at the prospect of having to fight the really big spider and questions if there is a way they can get by it.

Zeoll steps back from the spider attacking him and casts a spell to summon bats to help them in the fight.

Brahmah ignoring the last 3 of the smaller spiders heads right for the Mama and attacks landing his hits successfully much to her annoyance.

Gecktar makes his attack on Spider 4 and kills it. It splashes its icky blood everywhere as it goes down.

Spiders 2 and 3 again make their attacks on Buhll and again miss terribly.

Mama spider makes her decision and heads towards Wintergladeseeing what she thinks will be an easy target then she notices the attack made by Brahmah and hesitates to see who she is now going to attack. (OOC her reach is 20ft just giving you a heads up She seems to change her mind totally and throws out a web entrapping Buhll in her icky net.

He summons his bat so that it is flanking the mama spider, giving itself and Brahmah a +2 to attack.

Everyone gets +1 to hit and damage!

His Dire Bat attacks, but rolls a natural 1 on the attack!

Winterglade glad that he has not had to yet use his healing skills contemplates what Mama has eaten in order to grow that large.

Zeoll's Bat appears and it flanks the Mama spider giving itself and Brahmah +2 to attack. He also uses his bard skills singing a great song of courage adding +1 to everyone's attack and damage.

Gecktar seeing that Buhll is now trapped by the spiders webbing takes a stab at spider 2 and he is succesful leaving only Spider 3 and Big Mama to contend with.

Brahmah strikes again at Big Mama taking out one of her eyes and severing a leg. She is not impressed now.

Spider 3 attacks Gecktar seeing him as the next easy target. It comes close but misses.

Mama Spider is angry that she is being attacked and she tries to take a bit out of Brahmah but she also misses.

You here a noise coming from Big Mama and she turns her head to one of the corners. Out of that darkened corner and one out of another you see two more spiders emerge, both are larger than the first five but they are smaller than Big Mama. Perhaps these are more of her offspring.

Brahmah continues his assault on Big Mama and again he is successful she now has blood pouring out of everywhere it seems.

Gecktar attacks Spider 3 the last of the smaller spiders and he cleaves its head right off and it drops to the ground dead next to the others.

The bat that Zeoll has summoned attacks Big Mama and that seems to be her undoing and she also drops dead to the ground narrowly missing Gecktar on her fall to the ground.

Zeoll continues his song enhancing everyone's hits and damage by +1.

The two big spiders move in for the attack with Spider 6 setting its sights on Winterglade but Winterglade manages to pull his shield up in time to fend off the attack.

Spider 7 moves in for the attack on Brahmah and misses terrible on the attack.

It is hard moving around all the dead spiders but Spider 6 is near Zeoll and Glade and Spider 7 is near to Brahmah and Gecktar. Brahmah is wondering where his Bear has gotten to and he also manages to strike Spider 7 giving it some major damage in the process.

Gecktar aiding Brahmah also attacks spider 7 his blows managing to finish it off.

Zeoll aims his attack at Spider 6 and misses while his summoned bat also makes an attack at the same spider but he also misses.

Spider 6 is the only one left now and he spots an easy target in the already webbed up Buhll and it decides to try and feed off him to get some strength back and manages to successfully bite him for a total of 12 damage and he is poisoned.

Winterglade looks around - the situation does not look bad. Taking quick stock of the spells he has left he realizes that using any of them now for healing would be inefficient. So he decides to continue passive support. He moves up to the last spider standing and provides flanking opportunities to those attacking him.

[Is anybody still poisoned? Has anybody taken ability score damage? I still have Lesser Restoration and Neutralize Poison. I'd say let's finish the last spider first, and then if somebody needs to make another save vs poison I'll borrow him my Cloak of Resistance +3. If you fail I'll use up Lesser Restoration.]

Gecktar issues a challenge to the spider and attacks it again raining down more damage on it

Winterglade looks around and realizes that he really has no useful spells at the moment he continues to cheer on his companions.

Zeoll attacks the big spider again and again hits it succesfully wounding it even more. His bats also add in some damage of their own.

Winterglade is thinking they should hire an artist to paint how valiant he is at flanking the spider.

Brahmah shifts his hooves waiting to make his next attack.

Spider 6 is now really annoyed at being attack and once again changes its attack and tries to take a bite out of Winterglade but of course he misses.

There are no more spiders large spiders coming out but you do see lots of little tiny ones around but they seem to be more interested in trying to make a snack out of Buhll.

Wednesday March 26th, 2008 9:02:42 PM

Winterglade goes and tries to help Buhll telling the others to finish off the spider.

Zeoll strikes again at the spider almost knocking it completely down but it still stands on shaky legs. His bat however manages to strike just enough to kill the spider sending it crashing down to its death.

Brahmah and Gecktar both are ready to attack the spider but hold off as it dies before they get a chance.

Looking around what apparently was the home for all these spiders you see alot of things strung up or lying around all wrapped in webs. They could be human, they could be Taurs, they could be anything. Be careful where you walk there is spider remains all over and webs appear to be everywhere. Some of the wrapped things seem to have things shining through them perhaps objects of metal? There is another door similar to the one opposite of the one that you came by. These doors are too small for any of the larger spiders to have gotten through.

"Does anyone have a torch or a mean to set fire to all those webs.
Web dissolve when exposed to fire so there is now fear to have with fire here."

Cautious about the spiders that could still lurk, Gecktar now tries to free all enchased corpses to later give them a decent sepulchre.

"Let's pull down all the bodies first. There is this off chance that somebody in there could be still alive!"

Winterglade helps to lay down the bodies to their final rest. At the same time he suggests the party gives the area a detailed search [Search - aid another: 15, so +2 to whoever is searching].

[How are we standing poison-wise? Does anybody need an ability score restored?]

Brahmah
Thursday March 27th, 2008 8:31:19 AM

"You know what it looks like? It looks as if the spiders were placed here to guard something. Just off the layout, anyway."

Now What
Thursday March 27th, 2008 11:44:31 PM

The spiders are all dead except for the tiny ones but those are nothing more than a nuisance they for the most part leave you alone except for a few that take to climbing on you. Surveying the room there seems to be some sort of niche on the wall to the South.

Gecktar comments hoping that there are no more living spiders and he suggests a sepulchre for the bodies that the spiders have not eaten. He asks if anyone has a means to set fire to the webs.

Winterglade suggests pulling down all the bodies just in case someone is still alive in those wrappings. None are still alive except for Buhll who is proving difficult to be released from his webbing. Glade starts laying the bodies down to prepare them for their final rest Highlight to display spoiler: {when cutting the bodies down you find various weapons and coins and gems}

Brahmah looking around suggests that perhaps the spiders may have been guarding something.

Winterglade
Friday March 28th, 2008 5:43:23 AM

"That might be right, and whoever put them here was not the same person who installed the door. Who could have thought that there might be something interesting down here?..."

Winterglade, who starts to find a lot of objects in the cocoons, piles everything he finds in the middle of the room and then goes on to assist Gecktar with the dead bodies. "You know, Winterglade doesn't know if they will burn all that well. There is practically no air movement down here and the somke could suffocate us. Maybe we should just carry them to the outside and give them a decent burial. Nobody would want to find his final resting place near a river of crap."

Zeoll
Friday March 28th, 2008 7:41:48 AM

[OOC: Sorry, missed a post!]

Zeoll's priorities are first to see about Buhll. Is he okay?

Then to check out all the bodies -- kill the spiders and any eggs, see if any victims are alive but paralyzed.

Then look for info. Any clue about others passing through? Signs of Centaur tracks? Maybe Brahmah can search.

Then loot!

Friday March 28th, 2008 5:11:36 PM

"Oh, you should misunderstand me, I do not meant to burn the corpses, only the webs. You're right, putting all this on fire and we will suffocate or at least bear the odor of burned flesh for days. Not to say the smell of the sewers wha so nice, but it's still better."

"Would you help me to take these corpse outside ?

Tuesday April 1st, 2008 6:18:18 AM

"Winterrglade, I think you have a good point," says Zeoll.

He works to bring down the bodies as gently as he can. He thinks about the families of these people, and he looks sad.

Brahmah
Tuesday April 1st, 2008 12:42:48 PM

"If any have identification on them, their property should be returned to the families." States the ranger.

Paying respects.......
Tuesday April 1st, 2008 11:32:50 PM

Winterglade ponders what could be down here that would cause someone to put up these doors and leave the spiders to guard it.

Zeoll wonders if Buhll is ok he then checks the other bodies to see if anyone else is still alive and kills any of the smaller spiders and also any eggs he comes across.

Brahmah searches for any other odd tracks and he finds that there are some of the two legged variety at least a few days old and others that could be weeks old but mostly just spider tracks. He also suggests that the bodies may hold a key or something important.

Gecktar clarifies that he meant only to burn the webs but not the bodies and he looks for assistance in getting them out of the tunnels. He also feels that those they have found should have a decent burial.

Winterglade offers to help carry the bodies outside.

Brahmah tells Zeoll that he is not so good at finding traps and he wonders where Flat-top has gotten to in this mess.

Glade suggests that the bodies seem well preserved and though they task is not a great one that they should at least be brought out so that perhaps loved ones can find and identify them.

Zeoll agrees with Winterglade's idea and sadly but carefully removes the bodies from where they are hanging.

Brahmah suggest that their belongings, once they are identified, should be returned to their families.

Buhll, having been freed from the webbing, is breathing very lightly and seems to be in some kind of deep sleep.

When cutting those down from the webbing you find a drow and another taur who are both seeming to still be alive. They are both breathing at least anyways.

Searching the bodies there is not much to identify them but what you can find leads you to believe that most if not all came from the village. Bodies are carefully piled together so that once the way out is found they can be retrieved and hopefully the minds of their loved ones can be put to rest knowing what has happened to their kin.

While searching you find that there is various amounts of copper, silver and gold coins, weapons of all kinds and a journal that is waterlogged and you cannot quite make out what it says.

Near the second door you can feel fresh air coming through though it is hard to tell exactly where it is coming from.

OOC -- working on the treasure guys sorry, also hopefully by the end of the week we will have two more players joining us

Wednesday April 2nd, 2008 3:16:43 AM

"Two of them seems quite alive. They should have been poisoned. If I remember well the venom of spider don't kill. It just paralizes so the prey is still alive when they eat them."

Turning to Glade "Do you have any means to stop the effect of the venom ?"

"I don't have such prayer at hand for now... But wait..."

Gecktar burrows in his haversack and retrieve a potion. "Here it is ! Well now we must chose the one that will benefit from it."

Gecktar closes the corpse of the taur still alive and drops the content of the potion in its mouth hoping that this will stop the effect of poison. Putting both of his hand on the poisoned body he prays for an instant. A blue glow emanates from his hands and rapidly fades.

(OOC give the taur neutralize poison potion then spontaneously cast cure moderate wound healing 20hp)

The centaur takes both survivors out of the webbing and carefully examines them to see what afflicts them [Take10 on Heal: 15].

"Probably best to get them out on the fresh air as soon as possible. Both nearly suffocated."

Winterglade applies some healing to the survivors [both are healed of 21 damage].
