Test 1

GiGiHp 23/23, AC 17
Tuesday April 29th, 2008 6:28:45 PM

Nodding his thanks to Picci for the healing, Gigi continues his concentration on the glyph, writings and carvings. Reaching forward he touched the carvings and the glyphs to see if they are somehow mobile, indent, shift, twist lift, turn, push to the side, pull outward.

Cobblestones [DM Jerry]
Tuesday April 29th, 2008 9:04:25 PM

As Betheas slowly progresses down the trail, he easily can tell that they are still technically outside, and not in a cave, for you can look up and see echoes of sunlight far above. The trail is clear and well groomed, despite no sign of tracks or previous usage.

Then, Zita spots something! Ahead, there are suspicious holes in the walls on either side.

Betheas, Bendis and Julian see that the trail changes as well as the entire area ahead is covered with cobblestones!

Gigi finds no mechanism on the glyphs themselves. It is simply an amazing pair of artistic glyphs.

A trail of white cobblestones lead down the middle. The stones get darker the closer to the edge you get.

Betheas
Tuesday April 29th, 2008 11:14:14 PM

As Betheas progresses forward, he states to those behind him, "Cobblestone? That's truly strange. Someone has taken great pains to make this place civil."

Picci  d20=12
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 12:42:38 AM

The jet-tressed girl frowns at the very open area in front of them.

"I don't suppose that those glyphs gave us directions on how to hide in plain sight..?" she asks, eying the holes to see if they give any indication of being something like the "murder holes" in a castle's defenses.

OOC: Picci's attempt at using her Intelligence to puzzle this out results in a check of 12.

Calvierius
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 11:18:41 AM

Calvierius looks around on the ground for tracks. It seems hard to believe that they were the first people to come this way, but that may be so. Tracking would just get harder once they started in on the cobblestones.

----

Track skill, taking 10 on survival means he gets a 15. 17 in the unlikely event there are Orc tracks on the ground.

Also, sorry for the recent silence, I've been sick, just laying in bed for the past 72 hours.

Bendis
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 4:12:52 PM

The dwarf seems to wake up from his reverie when the cobblestones and hidden holes are mentioned.

"Hmm, hide in plain sight, hide in shadows, hide in hidden places... might the dark parts of the cobbled path refer to shadows?"

Zita
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 4:13:41 PM

"Or could the lighter part of the path refer to plain sight? Does anyone want to risk checking out one of those holes?"

Julien
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 6:17:50 PM

(WB, Eric.)

Julien grins at Betheas's comment, then listens to what the others have to say.
"Well, we could test both theories by throwing something out there," he says, rummaging through his stuff. "Tsk... heaviest thing I have is a torch, or maybe one of my boots."

Cleanliness is next to ???? [DM Jerry]
Wednesday April 30th, 2008 7:08:46 PM

Betheas arrives at the edge of the cobblestones. He can now see that the holes in the walls of the crevice do in fact begin where the cobblestones do.

The party is leaving tracks, that's for sure. Looking back down the old trail, are the tracks of the party. The mystery deepens.

Calvierius does not find tracks per se. Instead, he finds scratching signs of something that has meticulously cleaned the place where the dirt trail meets the cobblestones.

Picci's intelligence check does not help her figure things out.

Sword in hand Gigi walks up to near the edge of the white row of stones and using his great sword puts some pressure on the center of the nearest stone. (so assuming somthing is targeting the stone he should be far enough away not to get hit.)

Picci
Thursday May 1st, 2008 3:49:36 AM

The teenaged cleric sighs gustily.

"I'm stumped." Picci admits. "Hopefully someone can think of something."

Cobblestone Chess [DM Jerry]
Thursday May 1st, 2008 7:11:13 PM

Gigi pushes the nearest white stone in front of the group. Nothing sinister happens, to Gigi. Nothing happens with the holes in the walls.

A bird down the path ahead nearer to the waterfall that you can only hear at this point begins a mocking song that repeats mercilessly as mocking bird songs tend to do.

Will the riddle of this path defeat our heroes? Or will they win the day? Brave readers read on!

Only 2 posts? Wow, you guys are worse than me.

Julien
Thursday May 1st, 2008 10:00:59 PM

Julien watches Gigi with interest, and nods his head after his friend's experiment.

"Mmm, not bad. How about some one trying one of the darker ones. I'll do it if one of you will lend me something heavy that'll give me a bit of distance."

Rosario
Thursday May 1st, 2008 10:41:59 PM

"It very well could be." he answers to teh question of connecting the message of hiding with the darker stones and such. Perhaps the message speas of how to move all the way down this passage. First we hide in plain sight y keeping with the white stones only. After we clear that, perhpas we will need to move into the shadows and so on?"

Rosario takes a deep breath and then unless someone grabs him he begins moving down the path making sure to step only on the white stones. Watch over me father his only thought and small prayer.

Gigi nods at Julien's comment and begins to move to do that when Rosario steps out onto the white path.

"Rosario cath this rope quickly and tie it around yourself so we can pull you out if necessary."

Calvierius
Friday May 2nd, 2008 9:48:36 AM

Seeing no tracks and Rosario's brave step forward, Calvierius mutters to himself, "Well, sooner or later, somebody's got to do it." He walks onto the left side of the path with Rosario.
