Flat-top Monday June 2nd, 2008 6:53:17 AM
Flat-top watches Zeoll Preem himsels (not knowing that Cats love to do all that preeming) "OK1 Zeoll ! You Look Pretty, take my word for it!, now lets go!"
Winterglade Monday June 2nd, 2008 10:09:30 AM
"Enjoy your opportunity to relax while it lasts, Flat-top! Tomorrow we may be thrown into another race against time to gods-know-where."
Brahmah Monday June 2nd, 2008 10:23:47 AM
OOC: I'm back. Can someone write up a two line synapsis of what I missed? Sorry I couldn't post. The WiFi where I was staying (at many different hotels) was sketchy at best.
Brahmah stands back and strokes his bear, just amazed that the Chosen were sent a drow. Its as if he's been stupidified by it for weeks.
DM The long and short is you are now in Jacktars camp waiting for a dinner meeting with him He has given you all time to clean up and relax before dinner
Gecktar Monday June 2nd, 2008 11:48:02 AM
Gecktar seeing Brahmah in full meditation about the fact that Domi send them a drow, gently taps his shoulder "Hey Captain, don't be messed by that. Domi's ways are unscrutable"
"Just take it as it is. I know about your suspicion, but at last there are evil taurs so why not good willed drows ?"
"I'm going to go around the camp and see if any evil is lurking in it. So I will scan them too if it could please you."
Gecktar calls for Domi's clairvoyance and raoms in the camp scanning everyone he can
(OOC cast detect evil)
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Monday June 2nd, 2008 5:42:09 PM
After a good scrub down, Tiba wanders, half-aimlessly, amongst the more forested area of the camp.
Once coming across the archery practice yard, she will watch, and even offer to set up for any who are practicing. Any conversations on archery, or Druidism, is gamely taken up.
Zeoll Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 12:19:56 AM
Zeoll continues to take in the sights.
He thinks about making an elixer in his down time as the group waits for Jacktar.
Winterglade Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 3:25:09 AM
Winterglade, having finally gotten rid of the last of the sewer smell, starts to wander around the camp and soon vanishes from sight. A few moments later he is hidden in a remote corner of the camp stuffing his face with an apple pie fresh from the oven. If found, he shrugs and says between the bites: "Winterglade saw it in the window and was just talking and talking about how it smelled great and how it was just like his mom used to make and the lady just gave half of it to him! Honest!"
Flat-top Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 6:29:04 AM
Flat-top was walking back from a good scroubing, when he comes across Winretglade licking his fingers on one with one hand, holding an empty pie pan in the other and apple pie smearing on his face. One look at his friend face and he knew the whole story.
"Ahh! Yes! My Friend, Just half a pie And holding a empty pie pan, That is all dirty with apple pie juce??" Laughinr all the way back to the rest of the Group.
Brahmah Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 1:42:53 PM
Brahmah checks to see if his ring of sustenence is on tight and then prepares to take some antitoxin if the meal seems questionable. "So, what do you all think about this place? Seems okay or any bad feelings?" The ranger seems to be feeling out the situation.
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 5:00:00 PM
Pausing, seeing the bull-head unsure, Tiba takes pity on him, momentarily.
"I am not sure if they mean well, but then, I only ate the unhurt fruit, as a caution. If you are unsure as well, then I consider myself in good comapny, and can only suggest that you do the same as I."
Gecktar Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 5:08:18 PM
Gecktar answers to Brahmah "I've not yet finished my turn" he mutters, "But for the moment, all seems quiet and ok."
Gecktar continues to scan the entire camp.
DM Kristel Tuesday June 3rd, 2008 9:10:18 PM Posting will resume tomorrow - sorry everyone
Winterglade Wednesday June 4th, 2008 3:38:32 AM
Brahmah: "So, what do you all think about this place? Seems okay or any bad feelings?" "They go a bit heavy on the cinnamon side" - says Winterglade and burps.
"Goodbarrel checked the meal we got for poison. It's safe to eat it, Captain - if anything is still left over, that is."
Flat-top Wednesday June 4th, 2008 8:01:11 AM
When Flat-top hears Goodbarrel telling Brahmah About the food. He takes a long look at his Centaur Friend,
Then replies to all, "CINNAMON! cinnamom gives me red spots!" But will finish the food anyway.
Gecktar Wednesday June 4th, 2008 2:24:00 PM "I'm a big fan of cinnamon with apples. Where did you find this Glade ?"
Winterglade Wednesday June 4th, 2008 3:14:35 PM
"Poor thing was sitting all alone on a window frame. Let's go take a look, maybe it has friends who would like to join it."
Brahmah Wednesday June 4th, 2008 4:34:20 PM
He seems to calm slightly and digs in.
Zeoll Wednesday June 4th, 2008 8:22:39 PM
Zeoll takes the moment of calm to work on his item crafting. He has several eleixers of sneaking ready to be made.
Theorex Wednesday June 4th, 2008 9:39:29 PM
I also am making things.
Hmm :) what Item now.
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Wednesday June 4th, 2008 10:47:41 PM
Taking a stick from the ground, Tiba throws it, playing with Assap. As the kids join in, she less and less is involved, until Assap is bringing the stick to a couple of the kids, while she watches, smiling.
Winterglade Thursday June 5th, 2008 3:41:41 AM
Winterglade takes out his sewing kit. "Back to work, Goodbarrel guesses."
Flat-top Thursday June 5th, 2008 2:34:46 PM
Flat-top follow Goodbarrel, licking his gooie finger. Makig slurping noise. "Slurpp - Sluropp!"
Brahmah Thursday June 5th, 2008 2:35:10 PM
Brahmah works out and heightens his skills.
Zeoll Thursday June 5th, 2008 3:10:34 PM
Zeoll also has a wand of speak with animals to work on. He invites Theorex to talk about item crafting and to compare notes. Maybe Zeoll can help him come up with ideas.
"What kinds of magic items most interrest you?" he asks.
Gecktar Thursday June 5th, 2008 4:36:23 PM
discreetly Gecktar moves to the window Glade designated. Seeing no more apple pie, he comes back a bit disapointed
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Thursday June 5th, 2008 8:17:18 PM
While her puppy plays with the local kids, Tiba hears Zeoll's melodic voice, as he offers conversation to Theorex.
Wandering over to where they sit, she nods her hellos, not wanting to interrupt. Instead, she curiously eyes the lion-man, and inspects him for any markings.
Theorex Thursday June 5th, 2008 9:06:27 PM
I would like to work on defensive items to protect me and offensive items to give to our friends here.
Exploring Thursday June 5th, 2008 9:20:18 PM Theorex thanks the smith and offers to help him some more. He enjoys the work and winks at the smith when Flat-top comes in and he also tells the smith he is able to help repair magical items.
Flat-top is also enjoying the work saying that it has been a while since he was able to do smithing. He also asks if there is any items he can help with.
The smith chuckles and thanks both of them for their work. Out behind the main forger there are 4 smaller ones with and working at them is a minotaur, a centaur, an elf and a human working at them. There are also two smaller forges near the main one which are the ones that Flat-top and Theorex. "I forgot to introduce myself it has been so busy here with few stops. My name is Jonas and if you can help out with the magic items and any other items that need repairing I can get to work on my new orders. Follow me" He leads you to a small storage shed and opens the door to show you various bits of magical armour and weapons.
Winterglade enjoying the soak decides to explore more of his singing skills and he entertains those who are in the springs with quite an interesting song.
Gecktar is also enjoying the springs and he does his best to clear himself of the awful stench. He says ""It's likely a small army here. I'm thinking they would one day or another try to get back into the town and this could lead to many threat for the civilian... "I just hope they will give us some time to try to help them and find another way to take back the lead of the city."
Those who are in the springs are not sure if they are enjoying Glade's voice but they burst out in laughter as he finishes the last verse. One of them asks how they got so stinky and another one tells them they almost left because of the stench.
Tiba wanders the camp looking for the fletcher. She finds her inside the main walls of the stockade near the centre of the yard. She spends a few moments watching her and her companions work. There are 4 in total with the female human seeming to be in charge. Tiba shows her bow to the woman to show her handiwork and she compliments the fletcher's work.
"That is some fine work there" the fletcher tells Tiba"Please feel welcome to hep us in any way you can, all help is appreciated" With that she moves over and makes room for Tiba on the bench she is sitting on.
Zeoll smiles back at the filly that smiled at him and he seeks her out to talk with her. Finding her just outside the main doors she says "Hi" shyly to him and introduces herself as Lyla. She offers Zeoll a tour of the camp.
Lyla and Zeoll head through the camp together and she answers any questions he asks the best she is able to. You can see that what at first appears to be everyone simply going about their business is actually everyone working in sync together with no tasks left undone and there seems to be a general camaraderie amongst everyone. You hear that the camp is so well protected and hidden that they have never been attacked or found out and it appears that it was set up at least a year ago with more people trickling in almost every day. The valley that you are in has always been a hidden one and there is a centaur druid who is friends with Jacktar who led them to this place. No one seem to know the name of the druid or even to have seen him. There are always a few patrols roaming around outside the valley, some are sent to harass the current guard in the city, some are out looking for bandits and others are in search of followers and refugees and any supplies they cannot get in the valley.
Brahmah takes some time to take everything in and he seems to be still amazed over the fact that Domi sent them a drow.
Gecktar taps Brahmah on the shoulder and reminds him that Domi's ways are inscrutable and says that if there are evil Taurs then why not good-willed Drow. He then roams the camp scanning for evil and is unable to detect anything evil.
Winterglade also decides to wander the camp then he suddenly disappears. There is some shouting going on about a missing pie and Flat-top comes upon him and decides to help eat the missing pie. The cook finds them and Glade simply says "Winterglade saw it in the window and was just talking and talking about how it smelled great and how it was just like his mom used to make and the lady just gave half of it to him! Honest!" the cook glares at them and snatches back the empty pie plate then stalks off back to the kitchen.
Brahmah checks his ring of sustenance and gets some anti-toxin ready just in case. With some reassurance from the others he decides the food is safe and digs in. As he meets up with his companions he asks what they think and feel about this place. Gecktar tells him he is not done scanning but so far so good. Winterglade burping after eating his pie says the food is good but they use too much cinnamon.
Gecktar asks where the pie came from and Glade happily leads him to the window only to find no pies but an angry cook watching them.
Flat-top Friday June 6th, 2008 8:21:37 AM
Flat-top stand there Listening to Winterglade's Story, Then chimes in, "That's true, She did give us the pie. Like like she said, Glade had half the pie and I also Had Half of the Pie! Honest we only had half of the pie!!??"
Flat-top watch the party (to see if they belive the Half trouth."
OOC: if you look very closy, you might see that Flat-top Nose just grew a little,
Winterglade Friday June 6th, 2008 11:14:44 AM
"Do you have any ideas how we could overthrow the bandits in charge without starting a civil war? This is what Jacktar is going to ask us anyway. It seems that he is getting ready to take back the city the hard way."
Brahmah Friday June 6th, 2008 11:48:54 AM
He eats and talks about general stuff, weather, local game, sightings of any odd beings in the area.... so forth.

Smiling gently, she enjoys the moment of peace, as she never seem to have it all that often...
Winterglade Tuesday June 10th, 2008 4:12:13 AM
"Hmm, hmm, we need a battle plan for that rhubab pie." Winterglade goes into a nearby shed and comes back with two planks of wood and charcoal. He scribbles <Will sing for cake> on the first one and hands it to Zeoll. Then he writes <Will NOT sing for cake> and hands it to Gecktar.
"There, we are all set. Let's go."

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It is very much appreciated and the warmth is reciprocated.
"Buzz" is a nickname my mother gave me when I was three years old. My fathers name is Felton Eugene White Sr. and I have the exact name making me Jr. He already had all the nicknames that would come with it, from his own family and friends so to avoid confusion, I was nicknamed after a trouble making little Huck Finn type character in the comic strip named Buzz Sawyer, thus my name. :) Tiba, your the first to ask while I've been in the Wold.
I'm looking forward to helping Jon and Kristle in their game. Right now I am writing the next module and I will be visiting the archives to get a feel for your past. I hope you enjoy what is in store for your future, I can give you a hint, it's not for the weak of heart, Muahahahahahaha.
Be "seeing" you all soon.

Winterglade, done with the cake hunt, has taken it upon himself to decorate the camp with charcoal grafitti. Right now he is stealthily working on a wall of one of the cottages. A simple [profession: cartoonist check: 12] drawing shows a centaur, a minotaur, and a linotaur beating the stuffing out of an orc with large clubs. Below it it says: "There is no way to unity. Unity IS the way".
Brahmah Friday June 13th, 2008 10:37:05 AM

Pre dinner meeting / DM Buzz Saturday June 14th, 2008 5:02:57 PM
The group goes about their business the rest of the afternoon. Some chose to be productive to the community, other somewhat mischievous but harmless in most respects, adding more work to another of the community.
As the encampment is in sync, so is everyone's dinner plans. A community eating area is being arranged as wild game begins to be cut and spitted. Fruits and vegetables from the surrounding area is also furnished. There must be other areas the party have not seen. No orchards have been seen that would produce such fruit.
One of Jacktaurs' men comes around the camp and gathers the party up for a pre dinner meeting. He appears young and carries a holster of spears around his waist, within easy reach. He seems almost nervous when addressing the members, but seems determined to fulfill his mission.
They are taken into the barracks area which is quite large and down some stairs into what appear to be officers quarters and a planning area.
Jacktaur is there in full military armor along with a Centaur that has a long dark mane of hair running down the center of his back to his tail. His face is one of many battles but he is still a handsome creature.
The two are left alone with the group, the younger centaur closing a wide wooden door behind them.
The room is carved from rock and has a smooth finish. It is approximately 30 feet wide and twenty feet deep from the door. The roof about 13 feet high.
There is a large table in the center of the room able to fit a dozen warriors of large size. The seats are low to the floor and padded, for the comfort of a guest with any number of legs. Jacktaur waves his hands to offer you all a seat. He too pulls out a padded seat to rest upon. The other remains standing however behind the leader of the camp.
He introduces his friend over his shoulder with a gesture, "This is Larmane, the druid that helped us secure this area and one of my closest advisors. He too will listen to what you have to say."
He folds his hands in front of himself in a serious manner leaning against the table. "Larmane and I decided we had the time before dinner to speak of your visit. So, here we are?"
He holds his hands palms up waiting for a reply from his most recent guests, as if he does not know their reason, he intends to find out why they come to visit.
Zeoll d20+22=42 ; d20+12=15 ; Saturday June 14th, 2008 8:53:20 PM
Zeoll stands and answers Jacktar.
"Good sirr, thank you forr yourr welcome." Zeoll introduces everybody if names have not yet been offered.
"We came to Centaurr Isle on perrsonal errrand, seeking worrd of a villain who has set up a base in the Shipwrreck Shoals."
"But as soon as we arrrived, we werre attacked by a pack of undead, and we soon came to underrstand that Forrt Stag has been usurrped by an evil Captain of the Guarrd."
"We could not attend to ourr own mission while centaurrs sufferred underr the heel of a new tyrrant. And we did not want this Captain's influence to sprread. So we set aside ourr errrand to seek you out, in the hope that by joining forrces, we could depose the usurrperr and rrestorre Forrt Stag to prroperr leaderrship."
"Speaking perrsonally, I am happy to see a drruid herre with you. The Drruids of Domi have always advised the rrulerrs of Forrt Stag, and tended the giant Whistal Trrees that shelterr the community. I am a drruid myself, and I had hoped to meet ourr old frriend Hollyhocks, a drruid of grreat diplomatic skill frrom Forrt Stag who we had known yearrs ago, beforre ourr exile."
"But please forrgive my long-windedness. My mouth rruns on in such good company. In shorrt, if I may speak forr my company, we arre at yourr serrvice. Let us discuss how we can worrk forr frreedom frrom the evil that now rrules herre."
Diplomacy: 42 is a nat 20! Woo Hoo!
Sense Motive: 15. Not as impressive.
"And now let me invite my companions to add to my worrds." Zeoll looks at his friends, expecting each to say at least a few words.
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Sunday June 15th, 2008 2:41:30 AM
Blinking, not aware that there was another Druid in the group until now, Tiba keeps her mouth shut, watching and listening to what happens.
Winterglade Sunday June 15th, 2008 3:38:43 AM
"Uhm" - Winterglade is a bit hesitant to speak, not wishing to spoil the good impression Zeoll just made. "It might be relevant to add that we left the Captain of the Guard under impression that we are working for him. Also, if at all possible, we would like to solve the problem in such a way that there is as little bloodshed as possible."
"It would be very helpful if you could describe the situation in town, that is who is allied with the Captain of the Guard and who is merely scared into submission and would support a change."
Brahmah Sunday June 15th, 2008 11:30:01 AM
"Does this evil Captain have a name and how long has he had his own command? Or did he just enter into service and start giving orders? What is his story?
And as my friend here suggests..." pointing to Glade. "... has he a handful of faithful servants in his service that do his bidding?"

Flat-top Monday June 16th, 2008 6:56:28 AM
Flat-top is very nervious, He paces behind Brahmah But finally whispers the Captain Brahmah "Do I have to sit down? I just don't like the looks of that Center!" He waits for His Captain's answer.
If it comes to a fight from this Center. He'll will fight with his +1 Morning Strar (from his Belt, Not the one around his neck)
Brahmah Monday June 16th, 2008 10:12:15 AM
Brahmah looks at Flat-top with the look that means he agrees with the centaur. "Zeoll is talking and doing his thing right now. Just be ready." He rests his own hand on his hilt.

Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Monday June 16th, 2008 4:05:46 PM
Watching the goings-on she looks to Theorex, and whispers to him.
"Do you want to add your 2 coppers in? I'm ok with the big kitty talking for me..." Eyeing Zeoll specutively.
Zeoll Monday June 16th, 2008 4:34:13 PM
Zeoll smiles and wonders what Jacktar will make of the Chosen.
Gecktar Monday June 16th, 2008 6:31:09 PM
Gecktar adds with a smile "Oh, and by the way, the captain would like to see us returning your head. That, you'll understand, will not be very convenient, now that we have been introdcuced."
"This make us more than respectful of the work you're doing here, and seeing this camp we just fear that more taurs will be suffering in Fort Stag if a direct conflict would happen."
As sticky as sweet buns/ DM Buzz Monday June 16th, 2008 7:21:27 PM Zeoll uses diplomacy lost on most politicians to bring a friendly environment to a very dangerous situation.
Tiba respectfully remains silent to allow others their chance to speak. She asks Theorex if he is interested in saying his peace.
Winterglade informs Jacktaur that they are in service to the evil Captain of Fort Stag
Brahmah asks if the Captain they are in league with has a name to address him by.
Flat-Top whispers to her own man in charge her dislike for the standing centaur named larmane and fingers her weapon, waiting.
Gecktaur informs Jacktaur that his head has a bounty, but a peaceful resolution would be a wise choice.
From a DM standpoint, this is a bit confusing, but it may be that your allegiance was made many years ago and in your opinion it still stands today. Jacktaur would not know this and please correct me if I am incorrect with this assessment.
Larmane stands perfectly still behind Jacktaur eyeing those that are handling their weapons. He in no way appears nervous or concerned about it however.
Jacktaur on the other hand has a wide array of facial expressions as each speak in turn. To Zeoll he relates, "Hollyhocks has not been seen in months. The last word that was heard from him was when Larmane here received an urgent message that his assistance was necessary, but by the time he arrived, half the warriors of Fort Stag was either outlaws or imprisoned. There are rumors Hollyhocks is also a prisoner in the dungeons of Fort Stag, but rumors are seldom accurate, even if they drift on the wind of truth.
When Winterglade speaks, Jacktaur does not look pleased, "You swore an oath to serve him, and you all do not know his name? You did this with the knowledge that he wishes total control over the centaur island?"
With a tainted tone of disdain he continues, "Those that are not his minions are either here, imprisoned or dead as you should be aware. Those here escaped in the night when we were all taken by surprise in our sleep by a large group of well armed and armored minotaurs. Minotaurs!" He does not seem to care that there is one in your party, but that the audacity of the situation has him on edge. "When I refused they drew arms and it was then, I knew there was something amiss. Thank Domi I had no wife or children in my hearth, but others are not so lucky. They are now held along with others that would not swear their fealty to him."
When Gecktaur mentions the captain wanting to return his head he laughs, "That's harder then it sounds let me assure you. At this very moment, there is only one way out of this room and with a word this room would be full of seasoned warriors to make sure my head remains where it is."
His face grows serious and his demeanor as cold as an assassins, "So I will leave the question up to you, are you my prisoners or my guests?"
Theorex Monday June 16th, 2008 9:56:50 PM
Breaking the silence Theorex rises flips back his dyed white hair and says "Well it seems I am left in the dark here. I do not believe that we are after you our most gracious host. I believe that they are saying that they fooled the captain to be able to bring you information that would over throw his evilness. Though I am totally in the dark in such matters. Perchance one could be more clear. ...
What say you Tiba and my new friends."
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Monday June 16th, 2008 9:57:26 PM
Snorting, Tiba, at this point, steps forward, seemingly to cut off any other remarks.
"Let it be known that while I have not known these other a long time, they seem to be of a similar nature to yours. Both brave and brash. Bold of action, and bold of tongue."
Looking at Zeoll, shenods her head, respectfully. "I have the feeling that, even though I am not as glib-tongued as the big kitty here, I can put to rest what's going on." Looking at Jacktar(sp?) she holds her hands out and away from her sides, slightly, showing no weapons in her hands. "We fight forDomi, above all others. And it seems that Domi has brought us to you. Do you think that a God would do anything lightly? I don't."
Looking at the nervous taurs on her side of the room, she continues. "I thank you for rescuing me and the last of my group. If it were not for you, both two-legs," she motions to the surface drow, "and I would be spider food right now. However, I cannot condone what's being abridged here."
Looking back at Jacktar, she steps forward, inbetween the two groups, not touching a hand to anything other than her own skin.
"I will be the first thing you hit, either of you, if you attack."
Zeoll Monday June 16th, 2008 10:33:36 PM
Zeoll speaks to clear the air and make everything simple again.
"Now, now, my frriends. No need to get hasty. I swearr on my honorr and on my serrvice to Domi that I have sworrn no oath to the evil Captain Blackmaine, the usurrperr, norr have any of my frriends."
"I myself met Blackmaine alone, in orrderr to obtain access to a gnome who had inforrmation on a perrsonal matterr. He released the gnome to my custody in exchange for a large sum of cash and a favorr. He told me to find and kill a murrderrerr named Jacktarr. I slyly did not agrree orr disagrree, and I sworre no oath, but I did let the evil tyrrant think I agrreed."
Zeoll muses pensively. "In my youth, I neverr spoke a false or discourraging word, in accorrdance with the ancient trraditions of Tomi. But since then Domi himself has died and come back to life, and so have I. And I now smile frrom time to time as I put deception and rruse, and even outrright lies, to serrve Domi's cause. Such is the case herre."
"We should not be yourr prrisonerrs, good Jacktar, but your allies. And you should not be so surre that you have no secrret allies in Forrt Stag. The Harrborr Masterr you know to be yourr frriend, and he knows of otherrs as well."
"We need to trrust each otherr and decide on a strrategy."
Winterglade Tuesday June 17th, 2008 7:25:37 AM
The centaur repeats what he just said, punctuating every word with a tap on the table: "We. Left. Him. Under. Impression. That. We. Are. Working. For. Him."
"If he thinks we'll bring him anybody's head just because he tells us to and with no other proof then he has decieved himself. Just as you have deceived yourself a second ago, it appears, when you read from Goodbarrel's words what was not in them."
"Now, back to business at hand - can you estimate how many warriors loyal to this Blackmane are there in the town?"
"Unless, of course, you are not done yet with shaking of weapons and angry shouting?"
[For your information - Winterglade refers to himself as Goodbarrel while on the Centaur's Island. He's not really supposed to return to his homeland just yet and is a bit afraid he'll run into somebody from his tribe.]
Brahmah Tuesday June 17th, 2008 10:57:26 AM
"Ah, yes, that Blackmaine you mentioned Zeoll." He cottons on.
He looks at Jacktaur and scowls, "As for being prisoners or guests, I would think a GOOD and gracious host wouldn't threaten Domi's Chosen with such a decision and must think him or herself lucky enough to escape the Chosen once they got going." He sets a stare at the taur that may well be considered rude. Then he says, "However, on the faith and Honor that governs minotaurs and the rest of Domi's children, I dare say we are friends... until such time as the arrangement *clears his throat* changes." The minotaur's hand remains defiantly on his hilt.
He adds as an afterthought, "The Chosen do Domi's will, not some random taurs bidding. Domi has, for one reason or another, guided us here." He looks somewhat amused now. "Only he knows why."

Gecktar Tuesday June 17th, 2008 6:13:36 PM
Gecktar "Oh ! Your martial attitude and your cautiousness put a veil on what you should see.
I've seen almost even number of centaurs serving marteus as minotaurs. Not to talk of Wemics. This is just what he wants us to see.One against the others. Don't let the situation fools you. See that with your eye of leader. I'm sure that you will see that the enemy does not only fight with weapons. Deceiption and lies are certainly even more potent tools.
Our experience with this kind of enemy should be precious to you. You're not going to win this fight with weapons Jacktar, and the life of so many taurs be they centaurs minotaurs or wemics are in the balance.
Don't be too proud of you camp and you allies, as this is just a question of time before they find us. And you heard well. I've said us because your cause is our cause."
Theorex d20=5 ; Tuesday June 17th, 2008 8:33:31 PM
Wiping his brow and shrugging his sholders Theorex "Well I am glad that is settled. I for one would not want to offend such a well meaning person as our kind and gracious host.: " Sitting down he gestures for the rest to sit or at least move closer to the floor to show an end of hostilities.
What is the solution?/ DM Buzz Tuesday June 17th, 2008 8:36:14 PM Theorex explains that the group is here not for a bounty but to give Jacktaur information he may find useful.
Tiba contends that they are on a mission from god, Domi to be exact and climbs upon the table that rests on the floor between the two groups to interject herself between any attempt at hostilities.
Zeoll on his honor condemns any thoughts of service to the evil captain Blackmaine. Further, he declairs that Jacktaur has allies he is unaware of and may assist in the removal of such evil.
Winterglade believes this mighty warrior deceived himself with the words and actions of the group, he further wishes to insult the mighty Jacktaur with sarcasm
Brahmah further instigates the host with banter of their superiority as he defiantly holds onto his weapon. Unsure why Domi would send them to this outlaw. Yet he attempts to suggest they are friends.
Gecktar believes that many types of races may work for Blackmaine and the parties resources may be of value to the outcast Captain of the Guard.
Larmane remains emotionless as he reaches up and places his right hand on the shoulder of Jacktaur. Jacktaur scowls as they all respond, then easily rests his hands on the table with a smile of unknown nature upon his face. "Why do you even need me if your so positive he needs to be removed? I am aware of his evilness and the thought of others wanting his removal fills me with happiness. Why has not the "Chosen of Domi" themselves thwarted this villains plans and restored order so that those here could return home to the living we once knew?"
Sense Motive DC20 Highlight to display spoiler: { It is obvious that Jacktaur is waiting for something from the group, perhaps he is worried that the evil influence of Blackmaine has permeated them? Is he waiting for them to prove their loyalty to the people through actions instead of words? Perhaps he is concerned that the group wants to draw those here into an area where they are prone?}
Zeoll d20+12=30 ; Tuesday June 17th, 2008 10:36:29 PM
[OOC: Zeoll Sense Motive (at +12) is a 30.]
Zeoll pauses to look at Jacktar, then says, "We will do ourr best to get rrid of this Blackmaine, and Domi willing, we will. But we need someone to neutrralize his orrganization, and step in to fill the powerr void we will crreate by rremoving him. In shorrt, we need you to take overr afterr we go, because we cannot rrule Forrt Stag."
"Come, we must discuss what we will do. I suggest that the Chosen rreturrn to Forrt Stag and get close enough to this Captain to do him some harrm. We can capturre orr kill him, and that will be that."
Winterglade d20+5=7 ; Wednesday June 18th, 2008 4:48:11 AM
[Sense Motive 7] Winterglade winces when Zeoll says <we kill him> with such an ease.
Responding to Jacktar, he says: "<The Chosen of Domi> have done nothing yet because they know better than to force an armed confrontation without fully understanding first what the consequences will be. For example, we don't want to strike down Blackmane only to find the next day that his lieutenants have executed some of your relatives in revenge for his death. This entire problem needs to be taken care of in one day, not fought out piecemeal over several weeks, or innocent people might die. This is why we came here first before we plunged headlong into a fight. We need you to provide us with information so that we may make the best plan we can. We'll probably need you to help us carry that plan out - the seven of us can't take on a small army just by ourselves. Optimal outcome - Blackmane and his cronies in a dungeon and nobody's been killed."
"We also thought it would be proper to inform you that nowadays Blackmane is looking for assassins to end your life. You are welcome."
Brahmah Wednesday June 18th, 2008 11:53:29 AM
"There was no way we could have known this Blackmaine was causing issues. Its kind of hard when we've been off the islands pursuing Domi's plan elsewhere. Domi obviously thought you were getting in over your head or that Blackmaine was too much." He looks at Jacktar with pitty now, not anger. "The Chosen can only be in one place at a time. Action is not always the answer..." He looks at Zeoll and back at Jacktaur. "... I've learned while being part of the Chosen, that some of the greatest and most powerful weapons are not made of steel. That also goes for the power of intimidation, blackmail and fear. Those are powers of evildoers. It is entirely possible that his minions are under some evil arcane magic, or their families are being held or who knows. This is why we are talking now. If you expect us to go and risk ourselves or even this town and it inhabitants by just rushing off and killing this Blackmane, you don't know a thing about the Chosen of Domi. Unification is our goal, not to further chaos and hate."
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Wednesday June 18th, 2008 12:53:05 PM
Finally seeing that the 'discussion' was not going to come to arms, she goes back to the Chosen's side of the room, content to stay in the background. However, just in case...

Gecktar Wednesday June 18th, 2008 4:36:07 PM
Gecktar has nothing to add to what have been said. He nods at the words of his friends.
Guests it is./ DM Buzz Wednesday June 18th, 2008 7:01:42 PM Zeoll reasons there will need to be authority fast established once Blackmane is removed, but with resolve feels it must be done.
Winterglade relates that what hostages have been taken are in danger and should be looked into before real battle breaks out. Also, he feels that gratitude is in order for informing Jacktaur that people have been paid to take his life.
Brahmah does not make excuses for not knowing of the islands predicament but his reasons are valid. Now that they are here they can help, but perhaps there is something more to the evil of Blackmane. Something that influences his minions.
Tiba steps down from the table and stands against the door of the back wall, near Flat-Top
Gecktar is in agreement with his comrades and quietly approves with nods of his massive head.
Larmane speaks for the first time in the meeting. He addresses the room, though his words are for the outlaw captain. "With my own faith, I believe their words are to be true, as were the other divinations.
Jacktaur smiles a genuine gesture for the first time. "I agree with all you have reasoned and if you are willing to take on this Blackmane then you are my guests."
Jacktaur relaxes and seems quite present in the moment.
"There are only two ways to approach this matter" Says the acknowledged captain of Fort Stag, "unless you have come up with a different plan you may share when I'm finished."
If I could address Blackmaine and challenge him to a Kayleb, then the populace would not or could not choose a side but of the victors. I do not know the power of this individual, I have never seen him either, but perhaps if I could win the Kayleb, there would be no bloodshed but our own."
He then shrugs his shoulders and takes a deep breath, "If I lose, then the island is stuck with a tyrant, which is the worst possible scenario."
"The other option is to find out where he is and take him on as a group to battle it out. Some bad sentiments will come of it with the population but with time it will improve."
"If only we could find out how powerful he is or perhaps better what weaknesses, he has that we can exploit?"
Winterglade Thursday June 19th, 2008 3:44:18 AM
The centaur scratches his head. "So it seems the first order of business will be to collect more information, yes? Exactly how powerful is that Blackmane and, more importantly, if he has any supporting spellslingers. A signle mage, even not very powerful, can swing the tide of almost any battle if he chooses his spells intelligently."
"Another option would be to charm this Blackmane or maybe replace him with a double... Zeoll, does the name Blackmane ring a bell? Have you ever heard about him? Or is it a new nickname some villain took up when he came here?"
Brahmah Thursday June 19th, 2008 9:05:13 AM
Brahmah perks up at the mention of the Kayleb. "Kayleb, really? I haven't been in a Kayleb for about five years." He remembers his bloody battle with the high cleric some time ago. "I could stand as judge at the Kayleb. I have knowledge of them. I have fought several myself. Or I could proxy for you should you be killed prior to the Kayleb. If Blackmane takes the challenge and there is time for him to plan before the Kayleb, you could be assassinated but it could be made to look like an accident. He might, even now, be planning to usurp power just in that very way..." Brahmah, with his graying black hair and wrinkles around the eyes, looks like a school age taur when talking about Kaylebs. "You could challenge him to a Kayleb, but we know he is a treacherous taur and has no honor, he will likely do himself a dishonor in the Kayleb just to kill you. My father was killed like that, turned his back to give the centaur a breather and was stabbed in the back for his compassion. The centaur pirate walked away." There is not sadness, but distain on the minotaurs face.
Zeoll d20+20=26 ; Thursday June 19th, 2008 11:45:27 AM
Zeoll listens and adds, "Keep in mind that the Kayleb is a minotaurr trradition orriginally, and is new to centaurrs, who do not always underrstand -- or who put a centaurr twist on the way they interrprret -- the codes and old forrms of the trrial by combat."
"May I suggest another idea? We have been away from the Taurr Isles for a long time, and many do not know who we arre. I think that will change soon, but forr now, anonymity will serrve us."
"That means that if we brring Jacktar's head to Blackmaine, we will almost cerrtainly get to see him in an audience. Of course, we would use magic and disguise to create a false head. Then we could get Blackmane alone, for example, like this." Zeoll says to Jacktar, "Prretend you are Blackmane."
Zeoll changes his manner, becoming more obsequious and sly, more like someone Blackmane would trust, and less heroic. Bluff check 26 to pull this off.
The liontaur speak, "We are glad to brring you the head of the crriminal, Jacktarr. But Captain, I must tell you that beforre we killed him, Jacktarr said something that I think you would find verry interresting. Something you need to hearr. But I think this secrret is one forr yourr earrs only. Please, let us speak in prrivate."
Zeoll casts a Suggestion spell, Will DC21, with this as a suggestion.
Fail or save, Zeoll bows and ends the charade.
In his normal voice, he says, "Once we have him alone, we can try charming or attacking him, or making another suggestion. We have a good chance to capture him."
He turns to Theorex and Tiba. "You two, my frriends, may have powerrs we do not know. Ideas?"
Gecktar Thursday June 19th, 2008 5:26:12 PM "As usual, Zeoll, your plan seems quite good. But we should not rely entirely on your capability to charm other. We should first investigate to find his weaknesses and his talents as Goodbarrel said."
I could give a hand on this by asking some questions in divination, and you should be able to collect more information with your oratory talent Zeoll."
"Next we will see how go approach him."
Zeoll d20+11=13 ; Thursday June 19th, 2008 7:11:09 PM
"Yes, Gecktarr, you arre wise as always."
Zeoll smiles.
"Let me sleep on ourr plan and on ourr tarrget, and maybe some new trruth will come to me in my drreams."

"I am a tattoo artist, of some skill. I can make sure that everyone has a back-up spell on them that is useful, if they so desire.." she says thoughfully. "I follow Domi through the trees, but am lowly in that effort. However..." she pauses dramatically, "If there is an animal or outworlder that needs to be tagged with an arrow, until it moves no more, I am your Mare." There seems to be a fire behind her eyes as she considers tagging both beings mentioned.
Zeoll Thursday June 19th, 2008 11:11:27 PM
Zeoll asks Theorex, "Can you make a carrved ball of wood or a pumpkin look like Jacktarr's head?"
We have guests./ DM Buzz Friday June 20th, 2008 12:07:11 AM Winterglade begins to think of what Blackmane may have for experience and what might be working for him that can cast spells. Maybe the "ole switcheroo" is possible and replace him without the populace even being aware of it.
Brahmah grows more excited at past thoughts of Kaylebs he has partook in. They are not however for the dishonest and one can not count on a fair test of strength if one of the contestants have no honor. He does think of counter measures available if Jacktaur loses or does not live to fight one.
Zeoll reminds the group that not all Kaylebs follow the same rules, but he also understands, that every culture with warriors have a tradition of one on one contests to come to solutions. Another idea would be to use to their advantage, the fact that people may not remember or recognize who they are. Another "switcheroo" could occur, in the guise of a disguised facsimile of Jacktaur's large head. He can not recall through song, the deeds of Blackmane.
Theorex offers the assistance of his skills to assist in any battle to come.
Tiba offers her skills in tattoo's and also adds with humility that her skills with the divine are much more limited then her ability to shoot anything that moves.
Gecktar acknowledges Zeolls' ability to sway the crowds, but suggests, it's reliability is only so powerful. Perhaps through other divinations, they can determine more of the one who has earned the attention of the Chosen.

Many ideas come to the minds of the Chosen as Jacktaur has described the situation as he knows it. He rises quickly and throws his arms up in the air. "We will talk more of it tonight, for now, it would be good that those here see us celebrating life and freedom tonight. We all need to be inspired and I hear there are a few here that have a fire performance in store for this evening." He shrugs his shoulders in a none committal fashion, "I wouldn't call them bards, but they have been practicing a long while."
He shouts at the tops of his lungs, "Rancor!"
Immediately, a centaur enters of some age. He wears chain armor on both his human and horse torso. With his right hand he opens the door. Instead of a left arm, he seems to have a prosthetic appendage of a body shield he places in front of himself, as if to rush the room on command. Behind him several more holding halberds at the ready.
Jacktaur with a wide smile and exuberant nature proclaims, "We have guests!"
Rancor smiles and openly, is relieved as he yells to those behind him, "Get the captain and his guests some refreshments." He bows his head toward Jacktaur. "I will have the men stand down."
"Yes, do that." Jacktaur replies, then he seats himself.
Larmane sits down as well for the first time, next to Jacktaur "I brought a lovely wine from my own stock for special occasions. I believe I will have that sent for as well."
Rancor replies, "It will be done". He then closes the door to leave the group and their hosts alone once again.
"So, enough fretting about what is, for now, tell me of your heroics and your travels." Jacktar states as if what you say has his complete attention.
Winterglade Friday June 20th, 2008 4:08:13 AM
Zeoll: "Can you make a carrved ball of wood or a pumpkin look like Jacktarr's head?"
"Smack a potato and some straw on it and you have a twin lookalike" - mutters Winterglade, who could never resist a good opening when he saw one, but he has the good sense to make that audible only to those nearest to him and not their hosts.
When Jacktar asks for stories of their past exploits the centaur immediately melds into background and glances with pleading at the rest of the Chosen: <I am not here, don't mind me, don't mention my name>.
Brahmah Friday June 20th, 2008 11:18:23 AM
TIBA "I am a tattoo artist, of some skill. I can make sure that everyone has a back-up spell on them that is useful, if they so desire.."
Brahmah "You do tattooing as well? Great, we can learn from each other. Do you do divine magic tattoos? I invented some." He smiles. "I've made a killing on comissions too in the Catacombs." He says proudly.
THEOREX "Lets see I can create magic items for you or fight in a spell duel as a second for you."
Brahmah "Perhaps your unfamiliar with Kaylebs Theorex. They are usually fought on equal ground. This means, if one does not have a magic sword, and the other does, the one with the magic usually has to give it up for that particular Kayleb. If one has magic, they are banned from using it in battle, however that doesn't stop them all the time. Sometimes Kaylebs get quite messy when things aren't equal or controlled."
JACKTAUR "So, enough fretting about what is, for now, tell me of your heroics and your travels." Jacktar states as if what you say has his complete attention.
Brahmah "Heroes? We are Chosen by Domi and do what is required. I can't call that heroic." He says seriously. "Would a cleric be a hero for healing the sick or giving Domi's words? Its their job. This is ours. However, we DO travel, too much actually."
Zeoll d20+8=24 ; Friday June 20th, 2008 11:45:48 AM
[Know History check is a 24! Woo hoo!] Zeoll explains what he knows about Kaylebs to anyone who asks.
Zeoll is glad to be welcome at last here. He grins at Jacktar and his friends in anticipation of some entertainment. "A barrd is always eagerr to hearr something new," he says.
He listens to the words of his comrades in arms.
He does think that Brahmah is too modest, and tells a few stories about how the Chosen recovered the famous Black Sword of Gargul and beat the evil follower of Marteus, Vargas, to bring it back.

Let us eat, drink and be merry/DM Buzz d20+15=16 ; d20+10=13 ; Saturday June 21st, 2008 7:16:43 PM
Fruits, nuts, raw vegetables and cheeses are served to the group sitting in the council room, along with three bottles of Larmanes' own stock of red wine, two flagons of ale and a pitcher of mead. The wine is dry and fruity with little after taste. A connoisseurs dream. The ale, is strong and thick, made from many hops that reach out, grabs the drinker by the neck, and shakes them. The mead is a young batch that has a hint of cloves and oranges in it's after taste.
The young centaur that summoned you all to Jacktar's presence does the serving as well. He is introduced to you all as Belvin. After he is dismissed Jacktar says with sadness, "He's an aspiring warrior with a large heart, but his strength and health, are not so great." Says Jacktaur. "I have hopes he finds another passion that best suits his skills, but he is determined to live the warriors path. I can not deny him his dream."
Winterglade makes a joke at Jacktaur's expense, but those opposite the table do not seem to hear it.
Brahmah makes small talk with his fellow "Chosen", but chooses to take a path of modesty when they are called hero's. Jacktar immediately replies, "Even a farmer in the field is a hero to someone, if they praise a good god and do right to others. After all, if not for farmers, heros like yourselves would have to stick to trail rations and wild berries, so yes a cleric is a hero for curing the sick and spreading Domi's words." His own words are said with resolve as if he really believes them.
Zeoll feels obligated to relate some tales of the past. Jacktar and Larmane sit in silence, their bodies respond to different parts of the stories in various manners, depending on which part he is at. At times, the look in their eyes give an appearance, as if they are in the story told.
Tiba seems interested in the discussion of tattoo's.
Gecktaur seems pleased that a friendly environment has been established. He reminds Zeoll to tell them the part of the story where they fooled Vargus own party.
About an hour or so passes with various stories of feats. Jacktaur relates his greatest solo battle was when he grounded a manticore, single handedly. It had been preying on their sheep stock. After it landed for a deer he had used as bait, he struck out at it with lance and shield. It was a mighty battle and he shows the group some scars from wounds past, but it is clear to see, he has many other wound scars, much more recent then that old story, that must have occurred some years ago. "It was when it took flight to flee, I pierced it's heart with a thrown spear at over twenty feet above me. That was the last battle I fought alone, without shield men by my side." He seems to let his mind wander.
Larmane remains mostly quiet through the conversations of unity. Once Jacktaur asks him to tell his story about the defeat of an evil druid of Jancassis he was responsible for. The druid visibly blanches at the thought and replies, "I would rather not. Those are not fond memories." He finishes a full glass of wine in a single gulp, then pours himself another.
Belvin returns to let the group know, now that the populace is assembled and awaiting the guests and their hosts to attend, so that Larmane can give the ritual prayer.
Jacktaur and Larmane rise and motion with their hands, for the group to follow Belvin.
Brahmah Sunday June 22nd, 2008 7:10:59 AM
Replying to Jacktar, "Someones life devotion shouldn't be considered heroic. A farmer gets paid. A cleric lives in service of his God. A hero is a hero for doing something beyond the scope of what is normal for them. We are devoted to Domi and often get paid for our trouble in one manner or another and only occassionally do something beyond our means and skill. Personally, I don't think that makes me a hero or at least a boastful one. But of course I don't speak for the rest of Domi's Chosen."

Looking curiously at Bramah, she shrugs, a bit diffidently.
"I never thought it, but I agree with you,One's choice on how one lives should not be heroic in and of its-self. Rather, the action of going beyond one's boundaries are, to my opinion, of a heroic nature."
Winterglade Sunday June 22nd, 2008 5:06:38 PM
Winterglade, trailing behind, keeps muttering in a low tone of voice: "Back on the Great Plain, when a wyvern started to pick on our tribe, we poisoned the bastard and then went all together and clubbed it to death. Old Amberhoof probably could have handled it himself, but he choose not to. That's a Windwalker way: duty to the tribe first, heroics later. Maybe that's why Winterglade has trouble fully grasping the ways of Brawler."
Brahmah Monday June 23rd, 2008 11:30:33 AM

Gecktar Monday June 23rd, 2008 4:23:11 PM
hearing the conversation between Brahmah, Zeoll and Goodbarrel smiles and add "Yes, Glade shouldn't be very smart. Domi's teaching are basic. Not ever easy to follow but their understanding is not so hard".
Gecktar follows Belvin outside to assist to the ritual prayer.

[Brahmah:] "Who is this Winterglade fellow? Was it that loser from your tribe that was exiled?" "One taur's exile is another taur's quest. Besides, nowadays he is constantly being told that he's been chosen, yes?"
[Zeoll:] "The teachings of Domi arre verry easy: 'Be Brrave! Have Courrage! Prrotect the Weak!' [Gecktar:] "Not ever easy to follow but their understanding is not so hard." "You really think everything is so obvious? All right, explain to Goodbarrel this, then: when Brawler fought the Diseased One he allowed himself to be killed in order to save the people at the Arena. But since that time many, many more died because of the Dark One's machinations. Were the Brawler to defeat Marteaus there and then many more lives would have been spared. How then was allowing himself to be defeated protecting the weak?" The centaur glances with curiosity at those walking beside him wondering what their answers might be.

Gecktar Tuesday June 24th, 2008 6:23:40 PM
Gecktar stares at Goodbarrel "Well, I'm a servant of Domi, and as such it would be presumptuous to explain Domi's acts. None of us can even imagine what He has seen before surrendering to Marteus might. The only thing I can say is that He was right, I'm confident with that, and you certainly could not find any explaination to what He has done. Yes Goodbarrel, you're a mortal as myself, and trying to explain decisions made by our patron is just wasting our time. Because you will never see what He could see."
"You should live without explaination but the only lesson you could find here is the courage He had to self-sacrifice himself to a greater cause."
"Goodbarrel, serving Domi isn't a quest to understand Him. You will never, it is vain. It is just a trip in your consciousness to try to understand His dogma, not Him."
"The lesson here is courage. Yes courage of self-sacrifice."
Zeoll Tuesday June 24th, 2008 7:10:26 PM
Zeoll smiles, and offers an opinion. "My guess is that Domi messed up that one. Gods arre not infallible, and I think he chose poorrly that time."

Deep discussion over dinner/DM Buzz Tuesday June 24th, 2008 10:11:58 PM Brahmah reasons that someone's job does not make them a hero.
Tiba seems to agree
Larmane responds. "Have you taken into account the battle with nature that farmers must endure is sometimes both death defying and above the call of what some call duty. Preventing a drought through carrying buckets of water miles a day. Covering prize plants for hours in the bitter cold to prevent a loss through frost. An ear of corn or a shiny breast plate? It's all the same."
Winterglade relates a tale against a Wyvern. Then brings up an entirely different conversation.
Brahmah jests with Winterglade at his expense, then feels somewhat, but not much, bad about it.
Zeoll reasons the ways of Domi are easy to comprehend.
Gecktar twists the blade that Brahmah planted.
Theorex realizes he will need at least a week here to complete his sword and that may or may not be completed before any plan later conceived comes to fruition.
Winterglade defends himself valiantly with words that the others tend to agree with. Which is that even Domi once made a mistake.
Gecktar defends Domi's decisions as sound, even if they are inconceivable to mortals.
Tiba seems to think of what else could have occurred in the future.
The group walks up the stairs in deep discussions on the decisions of gods. It is a short walk to the outside once again and the smells of cooking snaps your olfactory senses to attention. As you walk outside, it is Larmane that has a say on what was spoken as he defends Tiba's theory. "All I can imagine, is that Domi saw something that looked much more grim for all races, if he was to win. Perhaps it is Marteus that slays an up and coming immortal we are unaware of in some dark contest. If instead it would the other which were to rise to power, could it have been worse?" He steps outside with you all, "I will continue to believe that when faith is put into Domi and I continue to wield his divine power, he is always right in his decisions."
The group is escorted by Belvin to the high table that would hold sixteen while facing the populace. It is made of solid stone that has no seems, sitting firmly in the ground. The single leg is a long column running the length of the table in support The seats appear to be lichen covered benches of stone as well. Soft and comfortable, Jacktar is placed at the center of the table, with Larmane on his right. The captain of the chosen, Brahmah, is seated just to the left of Jacktar. The others are directed to pick a seat of their choice along the table. No others sit there this evening.
Looking out into the audience, you can tell, the area near the large, beautiful pool of water is now a dinner festival. Clearly, there is more then a hundred different people here that are noncombatants. With perhaps just as many with weapons near. The older boys pull on long braided ropes in tests of strength. Small four legged children run around, in various child hood games, burning off what energy they can before it is time to sleep. The matron that had a pie depart earlier seems to be in charge of running the activities, as her various orders are heard by the other cooks. "That spit is ready, begin cutting it up for the lords." She points to the table where you are seated. At another location she directs those with both cooked and raw vegetable dishes to present them and serve the high table as well. Soon, the long empty table is full of various foods of fine design. Edible even, is the garnish.
Jacktar and Larmane stand. They wait for the group to follow before Larmane begins the evening prayer.
Jacktar raises his arms up as he faces the crowd indicating the guests, with his head high he begins a speech, "These are our allies. It is with them that you will have a restoration of what you used to call home. Together, us all, will be free from oppression and tyranny. "I give them the opportunity to add to the prayer when Larmane is finished."
Larmane nods and he bows his head, as Jacktar does also. "Domi, father of grace, force and defiance of the unjust. Please bless this bounty in the name of Alemi, whom we know you adore. Allow us to succeed in the face of defeat, live while facing death and love those willing to repent from hate. This prayer is in your name, he who has brought us prosperity in a time of famine. It is through a famine of will and hope, we struggle in your name. Thank you."
Everyone keeps their heads down as whoever wants to add to it may. When those that do are finished, Larmane once again bows his head and proclaims again, "Thank you."
The party then digs into the cornucopia of that which is available. Many fruit drinks are served as well as water, but you don't see any alcohol available. "We eat first before we have performances and story time for the nights activities." Jacktar explains as he begins to eat what seems to please him.
The other families have various picnic like locations scattered around on the ground, with blankets and plates. They too receive a bounty of food and no one goes hungry that evening.
Winterglade Wednesday June 25th, 2008 6:05:20 AM
While on the way to the table the centaur comments on what has been said. "Yes, Goodbarrel would agree with Zeoll. To a taur's eye it looks like the Brawler made a mistake that day. He is a god, but that doesn't mean he is infallible. After all, aren't we all his self-proclaimed greatest failed experiment?"
"You certainly can live out your life never questioning his decisions, claiming he knows better, but this claim could be used to justify blind obedience to any god, including the Evils of the Wold. Think. Question. There are things Goodbarrel wouldn't do even if Brawler himself manifested before him and commanded him to. Would you kill a child if Brawler told you to?"
"Then again, there are times when there is just not enough time for explanation and you have to take a leap of faith. Or you wouldn't be able to fully comprehend the explanation even if it was given. But that was Goodbarrel's whole point - it is complicated to try to follow a god, even if his dogma seems to be crystal clear."
As the party reaches the table the centaur takes an unassuming place at it. When the time for prayer comes he stands up and continues after Larmane: "May he who is the shield of the weak and the blade of justice make our resolve adamant and our judgement clear. May we pursue justice without hate and victory without cruelty. In righting the wrongs that plague this land may we never add to the evils already haunting the Wold. May we see repentment before punishment and coming to reason before bloodshed. If at all possible, may no life have to be taken."
Winterglade stands down and is silent, lost in thought.
Brahmah Wednesday June 25th, 2008 10:44:49 AM
Brahmah looks shocked at the formality. Uncomfortable, but unwilling to insult the hosts, he stands and bows his head, but is unwilling to close his eyes. Trust comes hard for the ranger. Gecktar while on the way, gently taps on the shoulder of of Galde "This kind of discussion could lead us far in the night. I'm almost sure that even if we have different point of view, our way of thinking is not that far. Religion is before all a personal development. Sure I've said that I will not question Domi's acts. Who I am to do it. With what little tight consciousness would I judge him. This is not to say that I will not question mine... Those I can judge them in all my consciousness."
"Last, and if you realizes, twenty years after Domi told you to kill a child that this child is responsible of thousands of death. Will you have you conscience for you ?"
"Really, if Domi asks someone to kill a child, I just hope it would not be me... I really don't know what I will do".
"Oh ! Domi ! Why have you said that. Do you want me to have nightmares !"
...
Later after Glade discourse "Good sermon, Glade" he mutters "Nothing to add at all, my friend."
Fire in the house/DM Buzz d20+6=7 ; Thursday June 26th, 2008 6:59:40 PM Winterglade gives a wonderful prayer addition to Larmane's. He returns to his seat in deep thought.
Brahmah seems surprised at the formality of the arrangement. He can see the eefficiency of how things are handled in Jacktaur's camp. He does not seem to want public interaction.
Theorex comments on Winterglades words from before the group prayer. He then thinks of ways to expedite his weapon making, using feats he may know. He realizes, there is a proper procedure one must go through and many things can spoil his attempt if he isn't careful.
DM Buzz: I have no problem with your using this, but I will need you to roll play out the steps one needs to take to do so. Drawing the opening for example, where will it occur. From then on, we need to go through what item you want to make in order to determine how long you will remain in the "Cradle"
Tiba wonders at why there is so much production into dinner.
Gecktar continues the pre-dinner conversation, on if one would kill an innocent at Domi's will. Larmane gets a side ways look from even Jacktaur as he replies, "If I knew the words came from Domi himself, without question? I would dash the infants head against the wall or rocks, as I am told." His tone uncharacteristically cold, even for one that has not said much in the short time you have known him.
Gecktaur congratulates Winterglade on well said words for the prayer.
After everyone is finished eating, the matron of the event begins to portion out the rest of the food to families of the community. You can see Rancor the old centaur that was to charge the group if proclaimed prisoners, is with his wife and child. His shield no longer on his nub of an arm. His chain mail somewhere else. His visage as a stout warrior is now replaced by a loving father and husband. They take their portion as well. Belvin collects food for several people and puts it away until tomorrow. Larmane explains the procedure. "Every day's worth of meals is prepared the evening before at dinner for all. Then each family takes what they need for the morrow until dinner time. Little to no community waste this way. So please, take what you like from the table for tomorrow as well." He indicates the group can fill their bags with tomorrow's rations.
Jacktaur says, "I notice your surprise at the productivity of this community, but I can assure you, it is for the best. We all can have this place bugged out within two hours of some event that may bring enemies at our door. In fact, I almost gave the word when I heard you had arrived looking for me."
The children remain for stories on the Taur islands and their history. Some in the group can note inaccuracies now again, but it is more for artistic license then a misleading of essential truths.
The fire performers fail miserably at their attempt this evening. One is seriously burned as well a a child that caused the catastrophe when he decided to run in between the thrown batons with flaming tips. He knocks the baton into the small vat of oil the group uses for ignition of their, props causing a large splash. Larmane rushes onto the scene immediately to administer aid to the wounded as a small fire brigade tends to any uncontrolled flames that was caused.
Jacktaur remains seated but clearly uneasy at the events. "I wish people would keep their foals on a tether, I swear!" He calms down when he sees the child learned through pain what fire can do, as any wounds are quickly healed by magic.
The children are lead off to their beds and some adults stick around the area, singing songs of hope and stories of their past. Fires die down and it is then that the flagons and pitchers are brought out for those who remain. No one seems to be near enough to the large table to hear what might be said.
Larmane returns with a smile on his shaking head as Jacktaur begins, "So, how should we do this?"
Brahmah Thursday June 26th, 2008 7:34:29 PM Fires. If thats all that happens, we'll all be lucky. Thinks the minotaur and he douses a small patch of flame with the pint of ale he was holding.

Reaching out to Bramah, she stays his harm as he extends it to pour out the ale.
"You know, as well as I, that oil fires spread very quickly with any liquid. Let those who have the powder to put out an oil fire do it." Shrugging she takes a sip of her own wine, and relaxes slightly. "If it was a wood fire, even, the alcohol would encourage the flame, even if but for a brief moment. However, if it was a wood fire, I'd be able to Quench it, using a spell at my disposal."
Theorex Thursday June 26th, 2008 10:46:40 PM
Theorex turns to his host during the party and asks" My most gracious host and comrade... I was wondering if you might assist me in assisting my companions here. I have need of a special wooden stylus made of the wood of the Ishgara Tree. This will enable me to make items faster for our group and make us more apt to do perform better in helping you get those evil people out of their positions. Could I borrow one or buy one from you?"
Winterglade Friday June 27th, 2008 5:20:33 AM
Winterglade's ears perk up when he hears the remark of the druid. Sounds like they haven't told us everything yet. Or maybe they are finally ready to start making detailed plans?
He softly clears his throat. "If the meaning of your question is <how shall we dispose of Blackmane> then we are ready to make plans. Or, if you mean you have something else to say... you have our attention."
Brahmah Friday June 27th, 2008 7:46:39 AM
The ranger shrugs. "I thought, being as how the oil was soaked into the carpet and the sugars in the ale retard oils from spreading, I figured it would be safe. We used ale to put out small lamp fires on the ship I was on some years ago... however, we didn't have any carpets and it was wood and rope we had to put out. Maybe I am wrong. As for the alcohol content in the ale, its not high enough to encourage anything except a hangover." He smiles. "Now your wine or those spirits would indeed spread the fire."
Gecktar Friday June 27th, 2008 6:22:25 PM
Gecktar savours the diner and is happy seeing the children as a swarm around the table.
[Larmane] : "So, how should we do this?"
"You mean about the captain of the guard ? Well first thing would be to collect more information. This can be done with Domi's help if hHe is nt too cryptic. And Zeoll has some skill with communicating with others, so maybe should we go back to town try to get some clues."
Theorex Friday June 27th, 2008 10:30:46 PM
Listening to his friends he nods and waits for a reply from his gracious host.

(Once separated from the rest:) "Umm.. I know you guys are good, and all that, but it's my duty to guide and protect Theorex, not yours. He seems to be willing to go along with your plans, and I certainly enjoy the company.." looking wryly at Bramah, "most of the time. But we aren't sworn to your group. How will that effect everyone else's decision-making? We both follow Domi, I can assure you that. And maybe that's His way of having us join you, but it doesn't seem all that defined to me..."
She looks uncertain, at both of them. They both get the feeling that she is unsure of how to approach both of them, but feels comfortable in the group, and wishes to joi, though she is only offering herself, not Theorex.
Brahmah Saturday June 28th, 2008 10:33:43 AM
Looking at Tiba in response to But we aren't sworn to your group. How will that effect everyone else's decision-making? . "I was about to ask you the same!" He winks. "I would expect the same from anyone traveling WITH us, that I would from any Chosen. Back up your comrades, because if one of us goes down, thats one less for the foes to concentrate on... and more for you to worry about. So, expect ME, and I won't ever speak FOR another Chosen, to have everyone's back I can call a friend in arms."

What to do, what to do?/DM Buzz Monday June 30th, 2008 6:58:22 PM Brahmah and Tiba have a discussion on how best to douse flames.
Theorex asks about an essential component he would need in order to use a feat he has. jacktar looks toward Larmane as the druid describes the Ishgara Tree. It's dominance in areas it grows, as well as what it looks like and where it thrives in the Wold, before he says, "My apologies, but I know of no one here that would need the device of which you speak. You may be able to purchase one in town from a local herbalist with some stock. Here, we only carry what we need."
Winterglade seems excited that some talk is about to occur, he wonders though of what, will the discussion begin with?
Gecktar enjoys the evenings meal and the entertainment, although was not what was expected, did not have dull moments either. On the subject of Blackmaine, he offers the need for more knowledge is important. Tiba interjects that she has no loyalty to the group through words or deeds and stresses neither does Theorex. She wonders, where that places them with the group of hero's.
Brahmah states the rules as simple, just watch the back of those you call comrades.
Flat-Top decides to join the group after having some time alone. DM Buzz: Welcome back, again Ceil.
So the group sits with Jacktar and Larmane in a quiet spot at the large table. The lights and fires dim to just a few lamps in the distance as the sounds of the camp also recede.
"I like that idea of you all getting me more information on how powerful he is" says Jacktar, "but what do you think would be the best way to remove him?"
Larmane adds "Yes, we need to make sure that any captives he has are safe. There has been no word of those he holds being in the forts' jail, so they must be hidden somewhere else, that includes Hollyhocks."
Jacktar nods his head in understanding of the situation, then a quizzical look passes over his face, "So, why don't any of you want the position of Captain of Fort Stag, or even mayor for that matter? It would seem your interest in the islands put you all in a position of standing for such office."

Zeoll has been waiting for this very moment. All through dinner he has been distracted, thinking about options. But before he offers any strategies, he tells Jacktar why he does not want a high position or power.
"My frriend, we have deeperr goals. We seek to unite all the Taurr Isles. We fight among ourrselves, and the Wold passes us by. Think about what we could do if we united in brrotherrhood and common purrpose. Being a mayorr or a goverrmorr is a worrthy thing, and we need noble Taurrs to do those jobs everrywherre in the Isles. Taurrs like you. But we have a holy mission to do morre."
Now, let us talk about strrategy."
"If Blackmaine and his crronies arre a rrelatively small bad spot on the apple, then we can cut out the bad parrt and advance Jacktarr in his place. That is a mission of stealth, trickery, and fast combat to kill or capturre the enemy, with Jacktarr rready to take overr."
"If the whole guarrd is corrrupt, then Jacktarr would not be allowed to take overr afterr the untimely demise of Blackmaine. In this case, we must rroot out all the rrotten pieces as well. That will mean a longerr comapaign. Firrst we rrally the people behind us. Then we gatherr ourr strrength. Then we fight the good fight, in a pitched battle for the city.
"Those arre my two main ideas. Any otherrs?"
Winterglade Tuesday July 1st, 2008 7:57:04 AM
Winterglade's face grows longer and longer with every word like "fight" and "kill", and finally, after "pitched battle", settles into an unhappy sulk. "A major battle is never totally predictable. You will have the day if everything goes according to the plan. But if it doesn't... Imagine if somebody starts a fire... Will we be able to save civilians and win the battle at the same time? Will there be anything left over to take responsibility of?... If he has large following it might be smarter to try to replace him with a double and dismantle his army from the outside. Zeoll would be excellent as a replacement. He seems to have a frighteningly good grasp of his way of thinking."
"But Goodbarrel feels that we are getting ahead of ourselves. We should gather information first, then it will be time to make detailed plans. How should we go about making progress with that? If Blackmane finds us simply poking about and asking questions he'll get suspicious at best."
When asked about his reasons for not wanting a political position Winterglade simply replies: "Goodbarrel is not in habit of accepting compromises with his ethical beliefs. This would make him an extremely inefficient ruler."
Flat-top Tuesday July 1st, 2008 10:25:55 AM
Flat-top has a burr under his tail and is running from tree to tree rubbing his butt, He's trying to rub the burr off. "OUCH! OUCHIES!" he yells "i'm trying to get these things off, BUT I can't reach thems". Then he's foo to the next tree.
Brahmah Tuesday July 1st, 2008 10:26:48 AM
The ranger thinks for a few long minutes, looking resolved, then confused, then resolved again, finally landing on something inbetween. "Well, as for gathering info, I'm all for that. However, its not MY area of expertise. Combat is where I'm comfortable. I have said before that being part of the Chosen gave me a broader view of solving conflicts with more than weapons and muscle. Diplomacy, subterfuge and stealth generally tend to gather best results, even if the intrigue of it all give me a pain in my horns." He thinks for a minute more. "If the Chosen can infultrate the city as important members of council, staff and guards, we might be able to gather a broader knowledge of how far in are Blackmane's forces and how much he ACTUALLY controls. We would have to enter in at seperate times, maybe days apart, so it doesn't look as if we are together. We might have been seen together already. Just plainly going around and asking questions might get captives, civilians and even ourselves killed in the attempt. I figure if Blackmane could infuse his people so easily and quickly, we shouldn't have any trouble either. There is one MAJOR issue with us doing this something like this... Chosen are quite well known here." He shrugs. "So I suppose my whole plan is dung from the word go."
"As for being given power in the city, like captain of the guard, that might be really dangerous for the one taking it on. Zeoll is right, we have different goals, Domi's goals. But out of curiousity, why do you ask? Why should we have considered it? Have the people been requesting Chosen to stay at Fort Stag now?"
Tiba (HP=71/71, AC=23) Assap (HP=36, AC=19) Tuesday July 1st, 2008 10:34:08 AM
Concerned as to howlong such a campaing might take, and the dangers involved, Tiba speaks up.
"I like the idea of a quick, precise cut to the core of the problem. A long, drawn out campaign will only polarize people who might be swayed at another time." Thinking further, she asks "Is there a way to guarantee loyalty once we have the Blackmane person dealt with? Like, say, a swearing upon Domi himself, that whoever is doing the swearing, will be loyal to the new regime?"
Taking an apple, and smiling at the humorous antics of Flat-top, she keeps her peace as others chime in.

"Goodbarrel, I agrree with you -- we need morre inforrmation. I'm hoping that Jacktar can tell us all we need to know."
"I like Tiba's point. I like the idea that afterr we take out Blackmaine, by combat, trrickerry, coerrcion, orr capturre, we ask those who arre left to forreswearr all evil ways."
Gecktar Tuesday July 1st, 2008 4:16:41 PM
Gecktar seconds the motion of Goodbarrel "Goodbarrel is right. This is vain to talk about things we do not know. But as Brahmah said, we are well known. But I think we aren't affiliated with any party in the town so this could be fair for us to try to find more about Blackmane"
