Trace provides Jurgen a csw wand and then takes some alone time with his slain companion. Shadow looks peaceful and resting, all his massive injuries internal to the soft, black fur. It is a sorrowful parting.
Similarly, Durgan takes care of his departed brother in the stoic ways of the dwarves.
Jurgen stands like a prizefighter on his last legs, but a hit from the CLW wand helps. He then goes about consolidating his companions, Dim Dooring back and forth until they are all together physically at least. Taking the lead from the intellectually-absent Peerimus and the emotionally-absent Trace, Jurgen prays over the departed souls to give peace, and then uses healing to support his living companions. The Protector then suggests to Firn'gaer to look for the dragon's golden hoard. Dearly bought, but the prize could bring thier companions back from the Lands of Rest.
Firn'gaer ensures the others are cared for before looking for the magical emanations of a dragon's hoard. Scanning with his Arcane Sight, he soon pierces the Hallucinary Terrain spell Ohzone had set up near a rocky outcropping. Firn'gaer is certain that this is the place, but is unable to see other evidence to where it may be.
Firn'gaer relays his findings, and the Children have to think about what they know of Blue Dragons. Knowledge check nature or creatures DC15 Highlight to display spoiler: { Blue Dragons can dig fast (ooc: 20' per round) and can collapse thier tunnel behind them.}
Peerimus looks sad but seems content enough with Yorrick back to nearly full health. He nudges Savin and Kazak to see if they will wake up, but no, they are gone. Seeing his other packmates bring in the bodies, Peerimus retrieves Krilanos' battered form and lays him beside Savin, looking for approval from Jurgen. The others can hear the druid make noises and sounds, but his intelligence is so low, he has temporarily lost his ability to speak.
...........................
The dwarves have continued to run and are now out of the Green Valley. A small breeze bends the grasses along the low hills, and without the sounds and sights of battle, it seems to be a very peaceful place.
Looking skyward, a woodquail spirals up from the forest and then on outstretched wings soars towards the Children of Chaos. Landing on a bush near the bodies laid out on the desert, an earthy voice projects from its open beak. "Heroes who ended Krilanos, our thanks. Come to the woods and we will meet you and give rewards and assistance." Spellcraft DC11 Highlight to display spoiler: { Animal Messenger spell }
The quail then flies back towards the woods.

Notes- Kazak falls in battle, but the dragon is slain. Numerous posts to DM. The rules questions were flying during the tough fight!
Durgan AC31 Hp 182/182 Monday September 29th, 2008 6:45:49 PM
"Thanks for the healing Jurgen. Ye done good. Ye held us together." Another tear rolls down Durgan's face. "Me durned stubborn brother. He should know better than to go off flying after a dragon by himself. Of course, if we had caught that beastie in its' cave where it couldn't fly around, I promise the two of us would have made it's life much more interestin'."
"Trace, wait. Let's see what the elves want. Then I will help you. Maybe they can help Peerimus? What's wrong with him anyway?"

Jurgen [AC: 39, HP 4/141] Monday September 29th, 2008 11:19:16 PM
Jurgen nods and gives a weak smile to Peerimus. Unable to determine what Ohzone's Hallucinary Terrain means, he defers to Firn'gaer on the matter. Presumably, the gnome will have the necessary insight to which Jurgen will reply, "Then we'll put our minds to digging." Already Jurgen's mind is ablaze with possible options, but he puts them aside at the sight of the bird.
"Now the elves want to talk?" The paladin shakes his head. "I don't expect the world to bend to our beck and call, but if we could prove ourselves without having to shed blood, I'd appreciate it. At least this gives us an opportunity to convince them to stay away from the dwarves. As for Peerimus... As far as I can tell, the dragon stupified him. I wish I'd been watching more carefully. Maybe I'd know what it was. Or if it was permanent..." He shakes his head, as if denying that idea entirely.
"Durgan, your brother bought us enough to time to finish the dragon. Without him, I am sure I would not be standing here." He takes a moment to consider that thought. "We'll meet with the elves, but I don't want to stay long. I plan on asking them to close their entrance to this valley and I plan on asking for the elves' assistance in curing Peerimus." He walks over to Peerimus and points to Krilanos' body. Then the paladin leans low and lifts Savin into his arms, hoping that the druid will match his movement. "Durgan, could you bring Kazak? I don't want to leave our friends behind. And I'm not entirely sure I trust Krilanos not to come back from the dead of his own accord. We'll burn his body when we get the opportunity..."
With a firm purpose in his mind, Jurgen joins Durgan and begins walking towards the forest.
[OOC: Any chance Jurgen could polymorph into a baby version of the Sargrass Gelendan? That would make digging much easier =D]

Trace begins his digging for a place for Shadow.
Peerimus continues to be with Yorrick.
Firn'gaer continues to scan and look around, but without skills in reading traces or stonework, he is stumped on where in the Hallucinary Terrain is Ohzone's nest.
Jurgen and Durgan want to see what the elves want. Since the Valley looks pretty peaceful now, the heroes determine it should be OK to walk (or Dim Door) to the woods by themselves. On arrival at the outer border of the woods, they see no signs of the elves, but a brown, rough-skinned woman leans against an ash tree. "Thank you, heroes," she says in the same earthy voice as the message bird, "you have freed the Green Valley from Krilanos and Ohzone and have saved my trees. I will help you any way that I may in gratitude of the trees."

Trace lays Shadow's body to rest and covers her with armor still on. Trace feels lost like part of him is dead and has few words for the parting, "Good bye, return to the wold and be reborn. I will miss you."
Trace then gets to his feet and follows the others to the dim door remaining quite.
Durgan AC31 Hp 182/182 Tuesday September 30th, 2008 7:15:00 PM
"Your trees? How did we free trees? Anyway, ye are welcome, though we paid a heavy price fer that freedom."
"Will ye help us convince the elves not ta fight the dwarves? I think we have made some progress with the dwarves, and I think now is a good time to press the issue with them. I'm not sure if there is much else you can help us with. We have dead ta bury, and maybe a visit to Gargul to see if our fallen friends and me stubborn brudder want ta come back. Mebbe ye could help with Peerimus though? The dragon hit him with a spell, and I ain't too good with spells. Can you heal him?"
Jurgen [HP 128/141] Wednesday October 1st, 2008 1:13:42 PM
Jurgen's face lights up at the sight of the woman. Sometimes being wrong worked itself out. He guesses, likely incorrectly, that the woman is simply a druid and this is her grove. "He's been moved to an animal-like intellect, if that helps at all. As for other assistance, I'm not sure if there is anything else for us to ask for. We're going to bury those of us who won't be returning to the Wold, digging up the dragon's hoard, and using that to pay for the resurrection of our friends." It wasn't that Jurgen trusted the woman, but he didn't see any harm in the truth.
Savin feels heavy in the paladin's arms, but he is reluctant to set the monk down.

"I have found where the dragon's treasure lies, but my knowledge of the earth is very limited. I could not locate the entrance to the lair. It is currently covered by an illusion, but dispelling the covering illusion should be quite possible."
"If you are the druid of this forest, then perhaps would reincarnation be within your abilities?" He says plainly to the woman. "We do not know whether our fallen companion would choose another form, but I know the results of such a spell, and our own druid is also familiar. Unfortunately, as you have been informed or saw during our fight with the dragon, he was effected by the spell Touch of Idiocy. We are without divine magic at this time which would cure him of this."
In Yonder Green Valley[DM SteveK] Wednesday October 1st, 2008 6:28:02 PM
The rough-skinned woman laughs and it sounds like the gentle rustling of summer leaves. "No druid am I, young heroes", she says, "but the Dryad who cares for this wood. And I will help all of you as much as I may."
"The elves, alas, have been frightened so by the appearance of the dragon, and have destroyed the gateway from thier land to this Valley. There will be no more journeying from Dre Moria to my woods. Similarly, you may be able to destroy the dwarves entrance and once again bring my Valley and the trees peace."
"For your fallen companions, I can do nothing save ensure thier spent husks are properly used to feed the trees." She looks up to scan the CoC faces. "It does not look like you are interested in that solution, so you must find one who can call upon the Powers for thier return."
"You may wait for your druid friend, for the dragon's magics are temporary and should be gone within a few hours."
"For the dragon hoard, I know exactly where it is and can take you there, for it is buried in an underground oasis. Though Ohzone has been careful to hide the entrance with tons of sand and rock, the oasis that just happens to have a young ash tree." She smiles triumphantly. "I would be happy to take you there for you to put his evil hoard to good use. He has plauged this Valley for years with his human ally, and the woods and this Valley are well rid of him."
She cocks her head and listens to the sussurus of the trees. "Perhaps there is a solution faster than your druid regaining his senses", she says. "There is a cleric of the Powers that was captured by Krilanos by being turned to stone. If you release her, she may be able to open a portal to the Lands of Rest and you can implore the Powers to return your friends."

Peerimus giggles and cocks his head to the right, "Mothers daughter" he tells the bear [Know Nature 22] Yorrick grunts and butts his head into Peerimus. The druid laughs again.
Beard friend, short friend, Panther friend and strong friend all talk and really it is quite intriuging and Peerimus smiles. Jurgen [HP 128/141] Thursday October 2nd, 2008 12:26:12 PM
"Your guidance would be appreciated." He nods to the Dryad. "I don't know if we'll be able to help the cleric, but we'll certainly try." Most of Jurgen's attention is on Peerius and his child-like nature. While it was unnerving, the Dryad's word that it would wear off in a short time was enough to change the paladin's mood.
"Whenever you are ready, Sister of the Earth." Jurgen is unsure of the wording. It sounded vaguely like something Peerimus would say. "I believe we are ready as well. Even if this cleric can bring our friends back, there is a great deal for us to do. The Arch must be destroyed and we must ensure this unsteady truce is held for more than just tonight..."

The earth-brown woman cocks her head and listens. "Come heroes, and follow me." She moves to an Ash Tree and moves right on through it! As the Children of Chaos follow, they are transported to another Ash tree in a shallow underground grotto. Though the obvious entrance is blocked to the outside by tons of sand and rock, it is bright underground from the shafts of quartz that streak down from the back of the cave. And Ohzone's treasure is before them all.
It looks like all potions or scrolls Ohzone may have had have become corrupted or destroyed by the Blue Dragon. It takes hours for the group to sort through it all (ie Peerimus gets back to normal). Besides items wrecked beyond value, bits of bone and other detritus, the inventory contains....

Durgan AC31 Hp 182/182 Thursday October 2nd, 2008 9:36:19 PM
Durgan tries to enjoy sorting and counting the spoils of the dragon's hoard, but finds that without his brother, his heart just isn't enjoying it. "Come on hurry up then", he says while filling the bag of holding. "Let's wrap this up so we can pay a visit to that god that revives people. I still can't believe there's no Moradin worshippers anymore. Especially considering the dwarf settlements."
Firn'gaer - AC19, HP 82/97 Thursday October 2nd, 2008 10:04:42 PM
"That is a nice trick." He says to Peerimus's Thousand Faces. "An ability that rivals the doppleganger race itself to be sure."
"On the topic of the Arch, not to detract from the dragon's hoard, but if we destroy the Arch, we do realize that it will in most likelihood make us enemies to the dwarves. That is to say if we aren't already. There is no doubt some fallout on the Captain of the vessel that brought us here, and not let us forget the dwarven Captain who vouch for our honor. Now I think destroying the Arch would in all likelihood put a permanent end to the war between the races, I just want us to consider an informed decision before that course is followed."
"Also, we should look into this cleric who's been petrified. The cleric the druid mentioned. Her release may endear her to contact Gargul at no cost as a favor for her freedom. I can release her, but it will require me to prepare the spell required, which I will not be able to do until tomorrow."

There is lots of things we can make from this and getting back to Hernamar just sounds like the best thing right now. Peerimus's wisdom and more importantly his intellect return. He stops as the spell wears off and blinks for several minutes. With a small chuckle the druid shifts again, this time to his normal face. The experience does not outwardly appear to have left any indelible marks on his phsyche. Arching a brow and cocking his head to one side in Firngaers direction, "It is one that I should explore more to be sure."
Peerimus smiles and introduces himself to the dryad, 'Now that I am more properly me sister.' He also asks the dryad if he might return at a near point in the future to further discuss Father Ebyron, Mother Maab, the cradle and all things fey and nature. [diplomacy 12 nice]
At the dragon's Hoard, Peerimus finds himself without much to say to Durgan. He has only known him a very short while. He does know Kazak would not want to come back as an orc and that fact essentially rules out reincarnation. This cleric however would be a true possibility. Hopefully not a cleric of that northern being Gargul. Peerimus had had quite enough of that nonsense from Quinn. Peerimus agrees with Firngaer, "Yes, Firngaer, that is the best course. We are in no true hurry at this point. Assuming the dryad grants her permission we will stay a few days. You can then reverse the spell that has pertrified the cleric and we can pray the she follows the Southern Powers and not those of the self proclaimed gods of the north." He pauses for a moment and then looks to Fingaer, "No offense intended. I sometimes forget you are originally from the north."
Looking to the others, Trace and Durgan specifically, "He is also correct in that we should examine the Arch and reestablish contact with Hannan and the dwarves and not simply destroy it. The hier of the oldest dwarven stronghold any knows about put his honor at stake for us and what he believed in. We will not repay that trust be simply disappearing. As to the dragon remains, I agree we should harvest what we can, use what we are able. Transporting over 10 tons is far beyond my powers. I cannot vouche for master Firngaers skill in such things. In the end, we will be right here for several days most likely and then hopefully with the dwarves and then home."
As the others go over the hoard, Peerimus will begin the long process of skinning the dragon. [Survival 38]
Firn'gaer - AC19, HP 82/97 Friday October 3rd, 2008 10:48:45 AM
"None taken. It is probably I who should apologize, I do forget that the Gods of the North are not worshiped here."
"Transporting an entire dragon carcass is beyond my skill. I could transport eventually, but it would take weeks of constant travel, and I am unwilling to spend weeks traveling back and forth covered in the rotting flesh of a dragon. I think horns, teeth, hide, claws, and an organ or two is sufficient in my opinion as a wizard. The rest should be burned and consecrated or purified as to allow the land to heal from its corruption."
"I think we should make contact with the dwarves in the morning. Inform them the dragon has been slain and that we shall all return after we have either buried our dead or petitioned the Gods for their return."
"Once before them, I think we should focus our discussion on the dwarves actions being for the community, and even though the rest of us are not dwarves, community is important to us. If we can crack the stubbornness of the dwarves, we might be alright."
[OOC - Unless Peerimus has Flesh to Stone, Firn'gaer will be using Limited Wish to duplicate the spell. So if we get to that point, you can assume that will be Firn'gaer action for the next day.]
Dryad In Yonder Green Valley[DM SteveK] Friday October 3rd, 2008 7:05:44 PM
The Children of Chaos, working with the Dryad figure there is no further immediate danger to the Valley, nor is there any possibilty of the elves and dwarves continuing thier war through this Valley at least. Therefore, they have time that they put to good use.
The remainder of the day is spent sorting loot and skinning the dragon, and in talking to the Dryad. She seems uninterested in speaking about Ebyron or Ma'ab to Peerimus. "Come visit me as you wish, favored of Ebyron, but there are so many other things to do than talk."
The group has pretty much agreed that when they get their own selves sorted out, that the CoC owes Hannan and Captain Ganness of the GrassSwift the courtesy to come back and ensure thier support for the CoC does not pass without notice.
The night passes easily as well.
The next morning, the attempt is made to break the enchantment on the female cleric statue in the Woods. (ooc: post actions to return cleric to living)

Durgan snorts and chokes, then coughs up the piece of food he had been eating. "Peerimus, ye can't be serious! Turn Kazak into a foul-smelling orc? Ye couldn't run fast enough ta save yer neck from that! hehe" Durgan seems to have a lighter mood with all the talk of raising his brother. "Do ye think this cleric knows Moradin? Been awhile since I seen one O' those clerics."
"I think we should offer the dragon carcass to the dwarves. I'm sure they'd be pleased to make some armor out of it, and it would be a good gesture. dwarves may be stubborn, but they are no fools. I think they will talk a bit nicer to us when we go to see them. If not, we'll give them 'yer welcomes' fer savin ye from a war and be on our way."
"Trace, I promised ta help bury yer cat. Would ye like to do that here, or back at Heranmar?"
Firn'gaer Saturday October 4th, 2008 9:07:10 AM
The next morning Firn'gaer prepares the spell. Standing before the statue of the cleric Firn'gaer uses limited wish to cast stone to flesh.
Rash Trinka Saturday October 4th, 2008 2:14:26 PM
Rash stumbles forward as the magic is reversed by Firn'gaer's spell. Her falchion is half drawn and an angry look is on her middle-aged face. She stops short when she sees the gnome in front of her and blurts out. "Who are you? Where is that crazy fool who kept setting the grass on fire?"
Rash takes another look at Firn'gaer and says, "Well I see you finally got here. Your name is Firn'gaer correct?" She looks around and continues, "The guy next to the bear must be Peerimus, but I can't guess on the others. Your the Children of Chaos right? I was sent to find you. To help you and it looks like you have helped me instead. " Rash pauses for a second and brightens, "I am sorry but you don't have a clue who I am. My name is Rash Trinka, a cleric dedicated to serving all the powers of the Wold but especially the ones who hold the most sway here in the Southern Isle. I was sent by the Crones. They seemed to think that you were going to need my aid."
Rash stops with a gasp. She sees the two bodies laid out next to each other and rushes over and kneels down and touches each one. She sighs and says, "They are beyond my aid of healing. I am sorry for your loss."
Rash's description: Rash is a middle age woman of average looks. A little plump around the middle and heavy breasted. She is wearing a beautiful set of mitheral plate mail and has a shield on her arm. She carries a large falchion sword on her back.

Peerimus steps forward as the woman begins and clasps his hands to each other across his chest and with a slight bow says "I am Peerimus druid of Heranmar and leader of the Children of Chaos. Welcome back." The druid's head tilts slightly to the side as the woman identifies herself as a cleric of the southern Powers and the Crones specifically. Upon mentioning being sent to aid them he nods in agreement. "Yes the fortune of Chaos is needed and your are a perfect vessal to see it carried through. The Crones sent you for help and indeed we are in need of it." Peerimus begins to turn the more elaborate problem and questions in his head regarding the woman, but for now those would be his own.
Peerimus thanks the dryad for accepting his inquiry to return and assures her he will do just that very soon.
With the woman returned the next tasks then fall to Rash Trinka. "We should settle Savin and Kazak before seeing the dwarves. rash Trinka, if you have the ability to speak to the dead, do so before opening the gate to the Shadow realms for thier return." Peerimus will assist with any preparations Rash may ask of them.

I also have it in my powers to bring them back from the dead as well if the Powers will release them. I can open the gateway but you and your friends will have to plead for their lives to be restored. In either case, this will have to wait until tomorrow so I can sleep and meditate and prepare myself for the castings."
Rash then stands and moves over to Jurgen and says, "I see you still bear some wounds from the battle. While I am sure they were honorable, let me ease your pain." Rash cures Jurgen 16 points of damage and then moves over to Firn'gaer and cures him 18 points of damage.

The Limited Wish works without a hitch and the woman called Rash Trinka stumbles forward into the land of movement. Peerimus greets the woman and lays out the situation with her, though from her speech, it is obvious that Rash knows a bit more about the Children of Chaos than the other way around!
Another day one way or the other isn't going to make much difference at this point, and so the CoC and Rash are able to consolidate themselves and the treasure and be able to speak more with the dryad for a day and night until the cleric of the Powers is able to cast her spell.
(ooC; Rash will cast her spell tomorrow, so any preparations in the valley or questions to the dryad should be done now)

Jurgen is almost not surprised that Rash knows of the Children. Years of being manipulated by the Powers made it hard to believe anything was coincidence. "I'm Jurgen." For a moment, he keeps it at that, too caught up in his head. "Oh. Yeah. I'm a paladin of Domi..."
"The dryad made it clear that this is her valley and both the dwarves and elves were interlopers. Krilanos and the dragon too, I suppose. When we take Krilanos back to the dwarves, I think they'll be willing to close off the Arch." He mutters to himself, for the most part. And then Jurgen goes to Krilanos and tries to find the scroll that the man had earlier been reading from, as well as anything else of note on the monk.
Rash Trinka Monday October 6th, 2008 10:44:06 PM
Rash nods her head as the others introduce themselves, looking at them almost like they came out of a story. "I am honored to meet you all. I have been following your exploits for a while now. Your reputation is growing in the lands as one of the more honorable group of adventurers on the Southern Isles. You are brave, good but also deadly to those that pursue evil and chaos.
I too am an experienced adventurer. My last group was known as the Blue Knights but we disbanded a couple of years ago to pursue families and other domestic adventures. My husband was a fellow adventurer from the group. A powerful wizard in his own right but now he is content in studying our children, the farm and the occassional experiment in his lab. I thought I was done with this life, but I was contacted by the Crones and told to seek you out. And now I have this." Rash pulls off a glove to show a tattoo that looks familiar to the group. "Once I saw this materialize on my hand, I knew I had no choice but to seek you out. "
