DM Kent 2d6=7 ; Sunday September 28th, 2008 7:04:50 PM
The good news is that the pumps and hoses are very easy to figure out as there is a drawing on the hull behind the hoses and that soon the water is moving upward and outward. The bad news is that those below working on pumping; Vorelle, Val, Malgant and eventually Bart, Lorth and Vauhwyt each take 7 points of acid damage as they wade around in the stuff pumpijng it out.
To everyone's relief, the worst of the storm abates after about an hour leaving what seems to be just a normal thunder shower. The wind has died down and the waves are merely choppy. The boat seems to be riding higher as the water is emptied out of its hold.
It is nearly midnight by the time Bart and the others deem the water in the hull to no longer be a threat and is only a few inches in depth.
Two hours later the remaining storm abates and believe it or not the stars come out above. The water is nearly like glass and both moons are near being full.
The party rests, watches and mans the boat in watches and nothing else untoward happens for the rest of the hours of darkness, and soon the sun is rising in the East and the sky looks clear as can be ...
... except for the three columns of black smoke filling the sky; two from your boat and one from ahead of you just over the horizon.
Everywhere else you look there is water, albeit water that seems to have a bit of steam or smoke rising out of it.
Several hours later after everyone has eaten, prayed, studied and taken care of pitted metals and corroded leather and cloth, the mood is lightened a bit when popping up over the horizon is a large island.
Moving toward the island you find the water taking on more of a greeninsh, yellow tinge with a fair amount of vapor rising off of it. The air has the smell and taste of rotting eggs and once again their is an abundance of dead marine life being struck by the boat, though what any of it is is a mystery as the acid seems to be eating the flesh and bones as the party watches.
The Island itself looks to be still forested but with trees and plants very unlike those that would normally inhabit the area and is intersperse with a lots of rocky terrain as well.
There is a small crescent beach straight ahead, but the question is how to get everyone ashore when the boat's dingy is over small and made only of wood.

(Lorth heals the 7 acid damage sleeping overnight)
When they near the shore Lorth dons his armor and weapons. He then concentrates and calls his companion Tobiasz from his rest. He mounts up right on deck then jumps Tobiasz right over the side of the boat. He waits hovering a few inches above the water while his companions make preparations to cross to shore.
Vorelle [HP 84/86] and Champ d20+15=25 ; d20+15=33 ; Monday September 29th, 2008 1:49:30 PM
Vorelle tries to keep Champ out of the pump area, worried about the effects of the acid on him.
Champ, for his part, thinks this pump thing is terribly interesting and does everything he can to get in there.
By the time the water has been pumped out, Vorelle is so exhausted that even being on a boat doesn't bother her enough to keep her from sleeping. Overnight, she heals the acid damage from the bilge, and some of the damage from yesterday's battle.
When the smoke appears, she tries to figure out where it might be coming from. [The other smoke, not our smoke. She knows where our smoke is coming from.] [Survival 25]
When they reach land, Vorelle looks dubiously at the little wooden boat. Even if it could be coaxed to stay together long enough to get them ashore, it will never make the trip back to the ship. She looks around, seeking other solutions. [Spot 33]
Bart ac 30 hp 101/105 Monday September 29th, 2008 2:06:28 PM
Bart uses the wayfinder (artefact, very strong spyglass) to look at the island. He looks if he sees any signs of live other then plants and trees. It looks like we have found the source. I like to circle around the island to see how big it is and if there are any signs of live. I can levitate but i cant fly so see if u can find a way to go ro shore. I dont ant to beach the ship. Maybe we can find a clif where we can anchor
Appolo Monday September 29th, 2008 8:37:36 PM
Appolo looks at the up coming Island and says to Bart"We need to find aplace ot beach this boat. Some nice soft sand to beach it on.That wooden dingy won't last long on the acid."
Val AC 26, HP 109/ 112 Monday September 29th, 2008 9:57:40 PM
"I'm going to look for any tracks." Val says. She takes her bow, notches at arrow, and heads off to take a look at the surrounding area. She moves in a circular pattern looking for any tracks of wildlife or monster.
Light Fortification, AC 26, 82/82hp Malgant Monday September 29th, 2008 10:35:26 PM
Malgant takes the acid burns in stride and heals whatever damage he can before retiring for the night.(between natural healing and the spells I have left, even if I mess up the rolls, we should all be healed) Hearing the debate in the morning after he has had ample time to make his devotions to Domi, he approaches the wheelhouse where the debate goes on and says." I can allow us to all walk ashore on top of the water and thus remain unharmed. I have prayed for this ability twice today so that we may return as well. If this is the Island that Priscella told us about then we need to find a safe and somewhat hidden place for the boat. If it is damaged or lost we will be stranded here. When we are all ready we can proceed to the shore. Until then, Bart, find us a good place to leave the boat and to land."

Vauhwyt (AC23, HP: 85 of 85) and Mookie (AC18, HP42) d20+2=17 ; Tuesday September 30th, 2008 11:17:47 AM
Vauhwyt is happy that her acid resistance spell saves her from the damage that the others suffer.
"Thanks Malgant! I like that solution best of all! How long will your spell last? Maybe we should circle the island as well?"
"Should we fly over too? Maybe take a look at where that smoke is coming from?"
Mookie caws nervously. "Yeah, and who gets to fly over the dragon like a tasty snack?"
Vauhwyt stops. "Good point, Mookie. Maybe flying over is not too wise. But what about a scouting trip? Anyone else want to come with me to scout around?"
As the vessel gets closer to shore, and then as the party water walks to land, Vauhwyt tries to see if anyone is guarding the island, ready maybe to look for intruders. Spot: 17
DM Kent Tuesday September 30th, 2008 8:44:05 PM
Judging from the size of the Island that can be seen, you are fairly sure that it would take at least three days to go around it in any type of quasi thorough search. The small cove is probably the safest anchorage to be found in any kind of short time frame. Bart is pretty sure it will be safe anchored just inside the reef break. Vauhwyt sees evidence of life, both plant and animal but sees nothing specific animal wise.
Vorelle's surmises that the yellowish smoke is probably coming from a volcanic vent or even possibly a volcano somewhere o the island.
With the judicious use of Malgant's spell the party is soon on shore and Val quickly heads out doing her thing. Almost immediately she comes across what appear to be quite a number of lizard prints. Except that they are quite large for simple lizards.
Light Fortification, AC 26, 82/82hp Malgant Tuesday September 30th, 2008 10:30:28 PM
" Um, Those are big prints, really big. Vorelle, How big would that lizard be?" Malgant begins to really think that Priscilla was right. If she saw a Draconic figure just before she was blocked in her scrying then these tracks could be that figure. Aztyr had made a case for the frogmen being sent in response to the use of Bart's scrying instrument. If there was someone powerful enough to block Priscilla's scrying maybe Azyter was on to something.

Well if it is a dragon i expect that it will be green, but maybe its something else like lizzardmen . Any idea what i could be Vorelle, a big lizzard, a small dragon or lizzard man?
DM Kent Thursday October 2nd, 2008 6:56:36 AM
As Vorelle carefully looks over the prints, she is retty sure that there are four separate sets of them and that no two were here at the same time. AIn addition, judging by the size and span of the prints she judges whatever made them to have a body size roughly equivalent to the size of Tobiaz. It is also very clear that whatever made the prints has been in and out of the water quite a bit.
It is also very obvious that whatever is making the prints in not trying to hide them as they all seem to come from and head back to the same place, though being sure about that is impossible unless the tracks are followed.
The island's feel however is very different from what you might expect. Along with the very acrid sulphury odor and tang in the air, the air is extremely heavy with moisture. You expect that any longterm exposure to this moisture is likely to cause skin irritations and eventually corrode leather and metals.
The plant life is, while not odd, different. There is far more variety that you would have expected and it is almost like a rainforest in diversity and feel. Brightly collored flowers are present everywhere, though if smelled are not very pleasant. Every now and you catch a flash of movement and turn to see orangish red squirrles leap from tree to tree or billiously yellow colored birds flit from place to place. Mookine even manages to find and bring to Vauhwyt's attention a very very brightly colored purple and yellow newt slipping toeward a small stream nearby.
Even with all this life, there are areas that are very much different, and one of those is close just to the west of your beach landing. The area is very much desert like, except for the moist air, full of rocks and dead trees and the such. All the rocks seem to be somehow pitted or melted, and every thing seems to be coated in a slightly yellow tinge, with occasional patches of bright red dust. The prints also come out here but they are nowhere near as numerous as near the beach and going into the jungle.
Lorth AC 23 HP 111/111 Thursday October 2nd, 2008 11:25:16 AM
Lorth keeps quiet, he doesn't like this island one bit. He is sure to try and stay alert and close by his companions.

[OOC: Do the creatures seem to walk upright, or move on four (or more) legs? Also, does Vorelle see any drag marks or anything else that might indicate a tail?]

==========
Livia at the Tears Tavern:
Are you the ones? Are you finally near? Long indeed the sword sleeps. I wait and evil grows ever stronger. Are you the Ones? ... Are you the ones? Are you the Ones?
When the water's on fire and death's at the door, look for the heroes called by bones and sword. ...
Quenched by the fire and etched by water Black is the problem and becomes the squatter.
Through darknesss and fire and water they pass. For storms shall sink those with much lighter mass.
The fiery skull will keep its faith and the sword once lost shall be put to the lathe.
Priscilla the Good Witch:
Your next step is in Acid. And then I saw a large expanse of bubbling water with three large rocky islands somewhere in it. So I expect you will be needing to find those Islands or at least one of them. My guess is that they are one of Blackbird Lake's Islands, though why the water is bubbling I am not sure. As to your foes on the island they are large and apparently black. I am guessing here, as this is where I was "interrupted," but perhaps there is a family of dragons that you need to deal with.
Bard at the Watering Hole tavern in the village of Abderus:
About three years ago at the full moon a stranger arrived in Acid. Even the Ga'alian priests showed obeisance to her and let her pass without even the smallest bit of interuption of her path, or her activities. She stood nearly 7ft tall Tall, long limbed and curvaceous, and appeared imposingly clad in black leather, her black hair tightly braided and hanging down her back. Her expression was always solemn, her eyes cold seemed to look into and through you. There was a sharp snap in the air that was followed by a sudden, painful sting on the flesh, if you approached within 20 feet of her without her request, whiched announced the presence of the invisible whip she always carries. She spent three days in Acid and then walked out on to Blackbird Lake and vanished. Since that time the water has been turning to acid and the fates have been unkind to those who try travel or try to ply their trade upon the lake.
Magic Items from the Froggy Charnal House outside Acid:
A wand - moderate conjuration An 8 foot long mallet/hammer - strong evocation A quiver of arrows - strong evocation A bag full of silvery coins, slightly larger than silver pieces - not magic A peculiar nearly circular concave black disc - the aura nearly blinds Aztyr and she can get no fix on it.
==========
Thinking that inspiration strikes where knowlege ends, Vauhwyt reveals all this to the party and then tries a few things.
She casts Detect Victim (no component) to see if she is inspired to go in any particular direction.
She asks for the magic items. She says to Mookie, "Your majesty, may I please borrow your crown?" She puts on her familiar's Circlet of Persuasion.
"It's a poor man's Identify," she says, "but better to know what this stuf does and how we can use it now, rather that later."
She uses Use Magic Device to try to activate each item and to see what they do.
A wand - UMD 19. An 8 foot long mallet/hammer - UMD 34 A concave black disc - UMD17 is a natural 1! Possible backfire? Oh noo!

Bart suggests an invisible arial reconaisance using the wayfinder, while Aztyr is more wary about the continued use of the item.
Vauhwyt points the wand in a general way and tries activationg it but has no success.
Moving along to the 8 foot Mallet/Hammer Vauhwyt tries to heaves it up and just about brings it down on her own head. (Must have a strength of 18 to wield it.)
Moving on to the black disc she holds it in her hands and tries to activate it and absolutely nothing happens.

He concentrates, but the spell's purpose is teasingly just out of reach of his understanding (spellcraft 14). "What spell was that Vauhwyt? It was divine wasn't it? Do you think that the 'woman' that the bard describes is actually Jancassis? If it is then someone may have prayed for this blight as revenge for a wrong that they could not fight themselves. And if that is the case there may be more to this than simply defeating whatever black creatures Priscilla saw in her vision. Either way, standing here will not get us any closer to an answer. If the tracks lead to a common point then I think we should follow them. Vorelle, the tracks are pretty clear, but I would feel better if you would lead us while following them. Vorelle moves into the trees along the trail and is soon followed by the others. (might think about posting a marching order here for a rough, debris strewn, ten foot wide path)
The trail and tracks are easy to follow as if what-ever made them was not fearing that anything or anyone would be following them. Every now and again the trail veers off to one side or the other to join a secon similar path only for them to veer back again to rejoin the original one. It seems very random and disjointed.

There's ALWAYS Room for...Acid Jell-O..?
Thanks to all the sharp eyes and paranoia, Vorelle avoids the puddle. Even though her skills are suited more to the urban environments, she can immediately pick up on the likeliest place that the tracks (and whatever made them) may resume: there is a telltale trickle of water from somewhere nearby. Anyone making their Listen check versus DC15 can try to follow the sound to its source...or try something else. It's up to you.

DM Donna Tuesday October 14th, 2008 2:08:22 AM Very DM-ly OOC: Sorry about missing Vauhwyt's post...it did NOT show on my page when I peeked in on this board--most likely I clicked in just before the liontaur's player sent in the post, and then posted myself after reading the only three posts that I could see. Hmmmph.
I must confess to having no clue as to what this "unknown wand" is supposed to be. How did Vauhwyt get possession of it and when?
I have some quick research to complete on that matter, obviously. Meanwhile...
Just about everybody (except Mookie) is making great observations and can hear a pin drop...well, okay, the area isn't silent, but it is VERY easy for everyone to follow the sounds that clearly indicate some sort of running water--a stream or creek of some kind, most likely.
Mookie, however, doesn't feel too bad about his apparent deafness, as the bird has a new irony to cackle at: Vauhwyt is unable to activate the wand...still.
Bart happens to notice that the acrid-smelling slime stuff merely prevents the party from following the orignally-intended trail...the party can still go around the puddle as long as they are careful about where they place their feet.

Malgant thinks about the puddle and the plant that seems to be making it as he stays close to Vorelle and watches for trouble. It grows near a path and it seems to have places its secretions in the path, much like a snare, like a predator. He bets that the goop is sticky, a trap for whatever uses the path so that it gets caught, and so that a slow moving creature, or plant, can get to it. He files the plant away in his memory for later , so that if he sees it again he looks for the goop too. Meanwhile he has already noted it to the others, and hey are avoiding it so all should be well.

Thanks Donna! I don't really think that what the wand is really matters. I'm just funning around. That said ...

Vorelle is a bit disconcerted by how closely Malgant is hovering. He is clearly ready to protect her from any dangers that might arise.
So much for my reputation as a tough, competent adventurer, she grouses inwardly. But then she remembers the last fights with the frog-things. You couldn't hurt them, couldn't stop them from hurting you. In the last battle, you couldn't even stay on your feet. No wonder Malgant thinks he needs to protect you all the time. You're useless.
Trying not to let that bother her, Vorelle continues to track, and also to stay alert for signs of danger. Her tracking skills are fine, but she is too distracted to keep a proper look-out.

Tiptoe Through The...hey--those aren't Tulips...!
Malgant is being extra vigilant about stepping into the puddle and everyone else in the party avoids the goopy stuff, too.
Lorth and his lance advance.
Appolo keeps his eyes and ears sharp.
Vorelle experiences a moment of self-doubt.
Aztyr scrapes the rust off her Survival skills--perhaps she should invest in Universal Solvent..?
Vauhwyt seems to recall that the party got hold of a rope that seemed have a magical aura about it as well...and darn that wand, anyhow!
Thanks mostly to Appolo's sharp senses, the sound of trickling water is momentarily overwhelmed by the sound of a mighty splash--as though something REALLY BIG had been plopped into the middle of a pond...and the sound seems to have come from just beyond a stand of thick bushes.

Vauhwyt casts Message, shared with Mookie and connecting seven others. Is that the whole party? I think so.

If you have any nominations for Hero Points or any particularly fine Role-playing, please post the examples on the board.
Announcement: I know I only just started DMing with you, but I'm in the middle of switching over my internet service from DSL to cable, and I may be without access for a bit. At each touch he says a few words in Tauric , casing the same spell of protection on them that he has on himself( resist energy acid for 100 minutes absorbs 20 points of acid damage per hit for the duration). He also places another spell on himself ( protection from evil 10 min, +2 deflection to AC vs evil, +2 saves vs evil). When he is finished he looks around at the others to be sue they are ready. When he is sure they are he steps through the bushes toward the sound of the pool, and the splash.

The air is calm as you all begin to encroach upon the pond and get into position. As you watch you can see the plants closer to the pond have a sickly yellow color. You notice the acidic smell in the air and you can see slight ripples across the surface of the pond as from movement below.
Malgant begins his words of power and the air is charged with magik for a moment. As he finishes his incantation he points towards the pond and you see the water in the middle drop for a second and then there is a small gush of water shooting upwards as the surrounding water falls back into the hole. The water in the pond is churned up and becomes cloudy.
The following all happens at once
Vorelle, Highlight to display spoiler: { You hear something moving through the underbrush behind the group. Maybe about 30 feet back. Not fact, but definitely something there.}
Appolo, Highlight to display spoiler: { You see something on the other side of the pond moving through the underbrush. It is dark colored and low to the ground. Because of the amount of underbrush it is very difficult to make out much more than that.}

From the center of the pond bursts forth a humanoid black creature. Its wings unfurl behind it. As the water clears the air and drops away from the creature you can see it is a small Black Dragon.

And under an open sky, how will she fight it if it flies up? The liontaur is no missile artist.
She could change into a Gargoyle. But that does not help her in attacks at all.
How far away is the monster, anyway? How far out from shore? She decides she needs to be more mobile. She casts Jump this round, then moves up to 40 feet, trying to stay hidden. If we are not round by round, then she will also cast Expeditious Retreat, and then move again. Or she will do that next round.
Move Silent: 27, 31. (Note rolled a d3 by accident) Hide 35, 42.
Vauhwyt tries to stay downwind and out of scent range.
Arcane Fail rolls for these two spells: no problem.

Lorth AC 25 HP 111/111 Monday October 20th, 2008 8:23:18 AM
Since Malgant is trying to talk to the beast Lorth waits a moment to judge it's response. He however uses this moment to call upon Gargul's favor. (cast protection from evil, share with Tobiasz). Immediately following that he covers up with his shield and moves Tobiasz sideways, so he will not be caught in the blast, if the dragon decides to breathe on Malgant.

Vauhwyt hears Lorth casting a spell, and says to Mookie, "What are you napping, old chum?"
Mookie squawks, "Sorry Boss!"
The bird in monkey form grabs wand from Vauhwyt's pack and triggers it, using his shared UMD ranks and his circlet of persuasion.
For one round: UMD check: 25 to cast Pro Evil on Vauhwyt.
For a second round if allowed: 29 to cast Pro Evil on self.

Who is the 8th person I am missing?
We are now in rounds
The dragon hovers over the center of the pond letting the water drop off (location of 14J). The wind from its wings causes the water below itself to froth up a bit and causes some waves to begin to form and lap along the edges of the pond.
The sun shines down and casts rainbows through the clearing as it is refracted off the drops of water. If it was any other situation it would be quite striking.
The divine magic charges the air as the ebb and flow converge around Malgant. He grows and challenges the dragon with a question. The dragon looks at him and cocks his head to one side as if trying to figure out what is going on.
Aztyr adds his magical prowess to the, now large, Malgant standing before him. She then goes back into unnoticeable mode among the shrubs.
Val lets loose a volley of arrows towards the hovering beast. Two of the three make their mark on the flesh of the beast Magik number is 19. The dragon throws his head back in pain and lets out a guttural scream to the heavens. The dragon drops a few feet out of shock. You can see the blood begin to run down its body and drip into the water.
BartI don't have the ability to check rules from work. The dragon is in the center of the pond (about 15 feet out from shore). If you can jump that far I will allow the action. If you want to change your action I will allow that as well. Your attack will hit and crit if you can make it to the dragon.
Vorelle turns towards the rear and proceeds to track down the sound she heard. You begin to look and then you see its head. Another black dragon hiding in the reeds at 24P. It does not see you and you fire at it. Again, I can't check rules from work. If a dragon is listed as a magical creature then adjust accordingly. The arrow embeds itself in the scales of the dragon and she lets out a scream.
Appolo the dragon you saw was in the vicinity of 7Q. You move towards Vorelle and see he fire on something located around 24P.
Vauhwyt moves into position questioning what she can do. Mookie is able to get off his castings.
Lorth waits as the question is presented to the dragon, but then sees the dragon scream in pain as two arrows and possibly Bart fly into the creature.
From across the lake you can all hear two other distinct growls and some thrashing through the woods heading for the pond.

( i am in BCD 11-13) Seeing the violence started not by the Dragon, but by his friends, Malgant despairs. They were trying to solve a problem, not depopulate the area. Sometimes those were two different things. Using Aztyr's gift of flight Malgant tries to get near the dragon(close enough to declare it as my interpose target) and tries to reason with his friends. He does not use the message for this, but his own deep and resonating voice. "STOP!! we came for an answer to the blight, not to just kill everything we found on the island. Give the dragon a chance to decide how this goes itself." To the dragon he says," You were thinking of an answer to my question, what was that answer? How do we stop the acid polluting Blackbird Lake?" OOC Declare the dragon as my interpose target. The liontaur casts Blink (no arcane fail) and then moves 65 feet (exp retreat) toward the other side of the pond through the trees, still moving silently and hiding. (That's 30 feet if movement is at half speed in the trees).
POSITION: From the trees northeast of the clearing (where Vauhwyt had been hiding) moving 65 (or 30) feet to the east toward those noises. I'm happy to let the DMs use their judgement for exact placement.

" Maybe not, but at least I can give it the choice of how the next few minutes go. Despite my martial calling, violence doesn't solve everything." Inwardly, Malgant hopes he is right to. But he has enough faith to follow his, and Domi's beliefs this far. If he is wrong he hopes that it is he himself that the dragon turns on. The whispers of more dragons waiting in the wings do NOT comfort him.
DM Jamie Wednesday October 22nd, 2008 7:30:00 AM I screwed up the first post so here is a new one :).
2 rounds have passed
If I miss something please let me know.
Tense is the only way to describe the moment. While Malgant clearly towers over this young dragon, you know there are more of them in the forest and don't know the exact location of them all. Moments seem to slowly tick by as everyone stands poised on the edge of a great cliff. Waiting to see who the first will be to buckle under the stress
Malgant the dragon just looks at you and smiles. Through his teeth he whispers, "This is our home. We are the dominant ones here. You are trespassers on our land. What would the benefit be of us moving on?"
Vorelle the dragon you were trained on begins moves into the stream and begins to slowly swim up into the pond..
Lorth, Bart, Val, and Aztyr all watch events unfold.
Apollo is able to move into position, but sees the same thing as Vorelle as the creature slides into the water and moves into the pond.
Vauhwyt as you get to the other side of the pond just in time to see another dragon slide into the water from this side of the pond. It is making no hostile movements, much like a crocodile sliding into the water from the shore.
Okay, here is where I have everyone located on the map. First the dragons. D1 is 14J, D2 is at O9, D3 is at N17, D4 is at C9. I have Malgant at BCD11-13, Aztyr at A15, Vorelle at G19, Bart at F16, Lorth at B17, Vauhwyt at N6, Appolo at F21, and Val at C19

The moments move to a crawl and Malgant makes the call to attack. Malgant's attack is swift and brutal. The dragonD1 is eviscerated quickly and falls back into the lake as chunks. The spray covers you and you are now covered in black dragon goo. The lake begins to turn a sickly green as the creature becomes one with the water.
On the other side of the lake, at almost the same time, Vauhwyt swings and connects with the creature D2 as it makes a line for Malgant. The sound of crunching bone fills the air and then a yelp from the dragon as it submerges in the water. You can no longer see where it is.
Three shots from Vorelle strike dragon 3 as she makes her way into the pond from the stream to the south.
Apollo gets into a better position on drier ground.
Aztyr, turning to his left sees the new dragon emerge into the clearing and lunge at Malgant. Aztyr uses the ancient words to call forth bolts of energy from his fingertips and sends them at Dragon 4. All four strike the creature and he is thrown to the ground. He begins to stand, shaking its head in the process. A growl escapes his lips as he looks right at Aztyr.
Val her former target turned to chum floating in the river turns her attention to dragon 4 as it makes it's attempted attack. Seeing Aztyr knock it to the ground she draws back her bow and with skillful fingers fires 2 shots at Dragon 4. Both strike true and the creature cries out in pain. But he is still not dead.
Bart seizing his opportunity launches himself at Dragon 3 and casts a massive stroke. Your strike is solid and you can tell the creature is hurt, but sometimes when creatures are hurt they are at their fiercest.
LorthOOC: I think you would have seen the target enviscerated prior to your charge. I am going to apply your charge to Dragon 4. And have you stop just inside the tree line at 7C. Let me know if this will not work for youLorth charges Dragon 4. The sight is quite stunning and reminds you of some long forgotten form of chivalry. Of the night on his steed charging the dragon in mortal combat. The lance pierces the black dragon through the side of its head as it tries to stand. There is a sickening breaking sound and then a ripping sound as the head is lifted from the body and is now skewered on the lance.
Dragon 3 launches an attack at Bart. All three attacks miss.
Dragon 2 come straight up out of the water at 10M and attacks Vauhwyt with its breath weapon. 18 points of acid damage, which are shook off by the protections you have cast on yourself.
When the first person hits the creatures in my battles I give the magic number of their AC. The dragons AC is 19

From Square N8, Vauhwyt looks at the open water ahead of her and thinks about taking a five foot step forward into the pond. Then she could use her paws and armor spikes as well. But she fears both sinking and drowning, so she instead again whirls her spiked chain, which has just enough reach to strike the dragon before her at 10M.
Blinking = 20% miss chance: 84 and 65 mean both swings can hit. Her attack is at +14/+9; that rises to +16/+11 due to the blink. Attacks hit AC36 -- possible crit; follow up is a confirmation vs AC22; so the first attack inflicts 12 points plus 16 sneak attack damage = 28 total. Second swing hits AC28 for 7 hp damage plus 13 hp sneak attack damage -- 20 total.
Total damage this round to the dragon at 10M is 48 hp damage.

The attacks from Bart on dragon 3 are swift and deadly. As are those from Vauhwyt and Lorth on dragon 2. The last 2 dragons die. Both of them float off into the pond.
The rest of you save your arrows and spells as they are no longer needed at the moment.
You can hear each other breathing hard from the exertion. You can hear the drip... drip... drip... of blood from your weapons. The area smells of death and the pond has turned a sickly dark green from the entrails now mingling with its acidic waters.
As time passes you are confident the water will run the contaminants through the stream out to the sea.
Everything is now still and quite. Now what do you do?

If she can, she'll snare a corpse and keep it from floating away. Vauhwyt takes a tooth from a dragon, too.
"Can anyone track these back to their lairr?" she asks nervously. "That was too easy."
Vauhwyt will go a-swimmin' with a water breathe spell, if Mookie gets one too.
"It better let us breathe Dragon Blood too," caws Mookie. "This puddle runs red with it!"

"If these were just babies, I do believe momma is gonna be mightly pissed at us. And from what I've heard older dragons are alot tougher than these were." Aztyr also goes to one of the dead young and gathers a tooth, sticking it into her totem bag...
DM Buzz Monday October 27th, 2008 10:45:59 PM
The group takes a look at the nasty, foul smelling and corrupted water that is even now filling with the contents of the entrails and veins from these young creatures.
The pond is of good size and after the battle, the bottom churned making it unclear, mixing with the life blood of evil.
The chances of these babies growing in ability, terrorizing, murdering, robbing, near or far, extinguished.
Although a Water breathing spell will allow one to breath water, it is from the other disgusting items that one must inhale that will provoke a Fortitude DC 10 check to overcome the gore and blood that fills the pond, as the dead continue to empty their bodily fluids from the large wounds made by the defenders.
Those that fail get sick and must wait 1 minute/point failed, before again attempting to enter the pond of nasty water and breath it's contents.
Those that are able to stomach the floating carnage and digestive waste on top can get below that layer of the water where a word like 'fresher' can be used very loosely. Visibility without some form of magic or device does not allow one to see more then a couple of feet away.
The bottom of the pond has a very soft bed of muck that swirls around the feet of those walking upon it, making it more difficult to see.
If not attempting to swim, those in heavy armor sink in the mud past their ankles.

Aztyr looks at the sludge spreading through the water and makes an executive decision. "Malgant, I ain't gonna try to breath in that water, it just looks nasty. Also, you might want to try flying underwater, you might be able to not stir up the muck from the bottom. And unless there's a tunnel or cave down there, I expect whatever's next to come at us from up here anyways." Aztyr then keeps a look out around them..... Becoming more interested in something other than the skys.

Vauhwyt dives in the pool, counting on her own resistances to see her through. "I've survived worse than that, thanks be to the lady of spiders," she says.
Fort Save 13 (natural 2! But that's good enough!).
Once down there (this is WITH the water breathing spell for Vauwyt and Mookie), she casts a Light spell and looks around.
Trained Swim check is a 21 unmodified for a light load of 141 lbs before reduction. Reduce decreases all weights by 1/8th.

Malgant looks at Lorth as he prepares to recon the pond. Gargul will allow you to cure me should I get moe than mildly nauseated in there, correct Lorth? If this is where we found such Young dragons I will not risk that there are more eggs below to make this victory pointless. However I can make the water a bit easier to see through, at least I hope I can." Malgant purifies the pool with the two prayers he has for today. The pool is far to vast to be completely cleaned, or even more than marginally affected, but it allows the pool a moment to settle and should take the worst of the gore out of the water. He then uses the fly spell still active on himself to glide into the water so as bnot to chun it up. Keeping his greatsword, blessed by his own hand and Domi's grace with a continual fire, drawn he helps Vauhwyt explore the pool, looking for eggs and openings to underwater caves.( fort save 28 spot 14)
