Flea tests the floor. Then, with trusty sword in hand, makes to move across the surface...

The Central Chamber (DM JohnP)

The Bloodpack cautiously begin to explore the central chamber that they have reached. All of them can see the chamber stretching out before them, probably several hundred feet across. The walls curve around from the tunnel where they have entered. Three other entrances are visible, as well, at right angles to one another, evenly dividing the perimeter into four equal parts. Strangely, only the top of the entrance on the opposite side of the chamber is visible which suggests that the chamber floor is higher in the centre.

Flea stretches a foot out to find that the floor is solid and will support her weight. Looking downwards, Flea can see the many shallow grooves cut closely together into the floor. The grooves parallel the walls, curving in both directions and making a rippled surface on the floor. The footing is solid, though, and no one is likely to trip.

Trellus looks across but doesn't see much else of note.

Yanosh steps out onto the floor and peers about. The chamber is silent besides the rustlings and exhalations of his companions.

Tishe' casts a spell to examine the chamber for magical emanations. There is nothing magical within the range of the spell.

Olaf determines that the light is coming from the central area of the chamber. He can't tell much more, though, because of how the centre is raised up.

Gilan climbs up onto the ceiling to look around. His vantage point allows him to clearly see all of the chamber, and there is nothing to note. Nothing moving, at least, and he is able to confirm Olaf's suggestion about the source of the light that manages to illuminate this chamber.

Vayine hangs back to keep watch on the group's rear.

After taking the time to look around, the party notices that Olaf, Tishe' and Flea have moved slightly to one side. Gilan is still where he went and everyone who has remained in the tunnel hasn't shifted position. When Olaf concentrates, he realizes that the floor isn't solid ... even though it is stone and seeminly fashioned in place, the entire floor is slowly spinning.

Trellus frowns in confusion as he sees that Olaf, Tishe and Flea have shifted.

"Why would the floor spin?" he wonders aloud. The blond man's eyes suddenly widen with a realization. "More spokes than doors," he mumbles. And then louder - "everyone get inside the chamber. The spinning might close off this hallway."

The cleric follows his own direction, and steps inside.

Tishe' is bemused until the full implications of the spining chamber comes to her. Going to the corridor, she shouts as loud as she can. "LION, COME HERE!!!"

Tishe' hopes her lion will return, otherwise her bag of tricks may well be useless!

Olaf looks at the slowly spinning floor, and marvels briefly at the machinery or magic that must power such a hefty device. "I'm thinkin' we want a closer look at the center," he mentions to Flea as they make their way upwards. He keeps an eye out for any clues as to what purpose the grooves might serve. "Maybe these are like a juicer? Scary thought...," and with that he examines the ceiling, looking for deadly grooves or traps above.

Vayine steps onto the platform making room in the hallway for the lion that Tishe recalled. with a flash of insight the drow decides to add his own thoughts to those of the pack. "from what we've seen of this place so far, I would venture that this is a portal hub. from the way that our portal room is to the other halls we passed and Olafs insight that this place is in his estiamtion a wheel. It seems plausable, the Catacombs are like this in the fact that they contain vast numbers of portals to accomidate their customers, this could be a hub to link any number of portals, they could even lead to other places like other Oddholmes... we don't know what our new homes is, who made it, or what it was made for...this place is very similar in construction to it, so it seems to me that this would link a number of other, for lack of a better word, "Oddholmes" from around the world.

Vayine laspses into silence waiting to see how the others react to his thinking.

"Seems you've been pondering what I've been pondering," says Flea to Olaf as she makes her way to the center of the spinning room.

The rogue tries to discern if there is any visible mechanism (Search/Detect Traps=19). Crouching low on bended knee, she applies an ear (Listen=14) in hopes of hearing gears of some mechanism.

Keeping his spot on the ceiling, Gilan just paces around. He is actually searching here and there for anything of interest, though he has not really been seeing anything earlier. Ears are still tuned to his friends down below and he hears their comments...though if they all get inside he is not going to worry too much. "Now how to get back were we came from?" He is not sure if anyone can hear him, but his musings are outloud none the less.

Grymash feels a grumble in his stomach. He hasnt had a chance to eat some dried meat. Raging always made him hungry. He listens to what the others say, stays quiet and tries not to look stupid.

Into the Chamber (DM JohnP)

Trellus jumps into the central chamber just as Tishe' calls her summoned creature back to the group. The lion trots down the hallway and eventually arrives. The floor of the chamber has rotated slightly further, carrying the members of the Bloodpack with it. Gilan is overhead on the stationary ceiling and slowly watches his companions move away from him. Those people, like Vayine, who had stayed within the tunnel have also not moved.

When Olaf looks upwards, he sees no sign of the ceiling moving or doing anything else. For that matter, Gilan is finding the ceiling to be quite solid.

Grymash and Yanosh merely try to keep out of the others path.

Vayine presents one possible purpose for the complex although there is no way to test at the present time. The only way to tell, for certain, is to venture out to the end of another radial arm and see if a portal exists there.

Flea is the one who ventures towards the centre of the room. As the gnome walsk across the floor, she stops and tries to listen for any mechanism that would be moving the floor. Unfortunately (or not), she hears nothing. The rise in the floor is barely perceptible but it is certainly there. After she has crossed several hundred feet of the grooved floor, Flea can look back at her companions as they stand near the tunnel entrance. She can also see the other tunnels and the only way to tell between them is the presence of the Bloodpack at one of them.

When she nears the centre, Flea can see that there is a depression in the floor. As she edges closer, she can see that the depression is possibly 40 to 50 feet across and, at least, as deep as Grymash is tall. The sides of the depression slope downwards to the floor in a smooth curve, as if a hemisphere had been carved from the floor. The surface of this depression seems to be glowing slightly, less than what Flea would expect considering that it was illuminating the entire chamber.

Flea and Olaf mentioning a "juicer" does nothing to diminish Trellus' growing anxiety. The cleric takes a step to remain near the doorway. He inspects the walls of the room, trying to determine if they are moving, or if it is just the floor.

In response to Gilan, he waves a hand toward the entranceway on the pack's left.
"We came in and circled around to the right. So if that door doesn't move, we ougtta be able to go through it, and come out near our Portal."

The brown-haired spellcaster keeps her movements slow, so as not to lose concentration of her Read Magic spell.

Tishe' is thankful to see her lion comes in without any frayed threads, and stuffs it back into her Bag of Tricks. She looks around, trying to make more sense out of what she is seeing. (Spot: 23, Know Arcana: 20, Spellcraft: 27)

"The floor is moving, but not the walls or the cieling", she confirms, beginning her analysis by stateing the obvious. "So the left-wise motion of the pattern must have some meaning."

Tishe', full of curiosity, follows Flea slowly, and continues scanning with her Detect Magic spell even up to the lip of the depression. (Concentration: 22)

A muffled croak is heard from the satchel on her shoulder as Wart looks on with large, amphibious eyes.

"Whoa!" shouts Flea, as she lowers herself to one knee, "look at this!" The rogue looks over the rim and into the bowl-like depression. Careful not to step down, lest she loose her footing, she reaches a hand over the side to stroke the surface of the glowing crater. (Search/Detect Traps=27)

Looking up at the druid, she whispers, "Tishe'? What do you make of this?"

Yanosh walks over to where Flea is and looks over the edge to see what she is looking at. "Curious isnt it Flea." he states flatly. The talk of traps and and everthing has the Dwarven Cleric worried. Stroking his grey goatee Yanosh studies the "bowl" in the floor.

Trellus looks around and considers how the Bloodpack had moved in the tunnel complex while he studies the walls and floor of the chamber. It is only the floor that is moving while the walls, ceiling and doors remain fixed.

Vayine keeps watch for opponents or other threats to the party.

Tishe' looks about, as well, and concludes that the floor would make one complete rotation per day. The only reason that the movement was noticeable was the wide dimensions of the chamber. When the theurge moves up to the centre of the chamber, she determines that the bowl-like depression noted by Flea is magical. Examination indicates a strong magical aura of nearly all schools.

Flea stands beside Tishe' and tries to figure out what they have found.

Olaf marks the tunnel that the Bloodpack entered the chamber from before moving to the central depression.

Yanosh also moves up to study the depression. Whoever, or whatever, crafted the depression was an extremely skilled stone-crafter or spellcaster.

Olaf only - Highlight to display spoiler: {Contrary to what Flea has reported, the bowl is not empty. There is a swirling mass of ... well, it's not possible to say. Spirits, maybe, or some other kind of insubstantial creature. Or, maybe, more than that. The swirling colours are nearly hypnotic to the votary cleric and Olaf feels a sense of communion that he hasn't since he left the Ice Vein.

Then, as he stands there staring at the swirling mass of colour, Olaf receives a sending. Much like the sensation when he uses divinatory magic, the votary cleric suddenly receives a message.

"Not now. Not yet. Not you."

Flea stands up and takes a step away from the glowing bowl. Staring at the doors she throws her arms wide, using her holy short sword to point at a random door, "and behind door number 1!" she announces in a large voice, before a giggle.

"1...2...3...4...5..." the rogue makes a point of counting the number of doors, and looks hard to see if there is any kind of symbol or other way to discriminate between them.

"Hey Gil!" Trellus calls up to the lizard on the roof. "These markings on the floor look like any kind of symbol from up there?"

The blond man slowly spins in place, once again taking in the whole room.
"Totally twisted, all right," he responds to Yanosh. "Something this big and this complicated has got to have some purpose. But Domi knows what it might be."

The blond man looks over at the pair investigating the center of the room.
"We'll take a few more minutes, and then we'll hafta move on," he declares. "This place is beginning to look like our Portal. Its gonna take a lot of time and divinations to figure out what it is, and we got too many treadles too close to us to do that right now."

Vayine moves to the doorway that the party entered by (if still visable) and places a clean elegent V on that part of the wall so the party will see where then entered the area from. knowing that he himself could get turned around in this area.

Grymash wonders if things like the symbols on the floor and the power they emit have anything to do with each other. He continues to ponder that these two seemingly different forces are unified when a theory is found that combines them. These two forces then become manifestations of a single theoretical structure. Which leads to the thought of two other fundamental forces -- gravity and strong magical force -- remain as independent, isolated forces. However, arcanists suspect, but do not know for certain, that all the fundamental forces will emerge from one theory. So Gry's GUT tells him (GUT meaning Grand Unified Theory) that united magiks, the weak orison interaction and the strong divine force can be combined into a single theory. Gravity not included. It is possible that his GUT theory will emerge as part of the structure of other string theories. A theory that could lead to a massive headache or the destruction in the fabric of time and space itself.

However, he grunts and brushes the thought from his mind. Such ideas should be left to intellectuals. Not dumb half-orc barbarians.

Flea pauses when she spots the barbarian. Gry's got this funny look on his face. It's sort of like he's in pain. Worried that it might be something the half-orc ate, the rogue makes sure she's not within range, and sufficiently down wind of the cleric-fighter.

"Amazingly complicated weaving going on here", confirms Tishe', "not just the physical carvings on the floor, but arcanely as well. It will take a long time to ffigure this out."

"Oh, but I've got a shady idea", she continues. "If this is the center of this complex, and the long corridor is a circle, then Oddholme's portal must be from one of the outside spokes. And if we are from ONE of the outside spokes, then there are others, probably at least as many as there are doors in here."

Her brown eyes shine with conviction. "And that means the vampires home must be from a different portal! We find thier portal and shut down that threat to our hopefully innocent townspeople!"

"It's perfect!"

After getting to the edge of the bowl, Olaf seems caught in a reverie for a time...then stumbles back, away from the center. Stamping his feet to clear them of a sudden sense of cold, he fiddles at his chest for a missing amulet.

Softly, he intones to the rest of the group "I...I'm thinkin' that there's somethin' not right in the center there. Don't know 'bout the rest o' you, but there's spirits of ta vein, I'm mean the Ice Vein, right there in the bowl. I'm gettin' a sense we best be stayin' away." He spits to the side, and starts to mutter, shaking his head slightly, as if to clear it. "Celsiun...been missin' that cold bastard." A smile quirks on his face, then he bows his head, basking briefly in the remembrance of the Ice Vein of his birth and its harsh, cold beauty.

Flea's eyes go wide as she registers what the others are saying. "So each of these doors is a portal to another place? Places all over the Wold and maybe beyond?" The rogue thinks of all the stories and songs she has only just started to learn. Some were of familiar things, but others seemed woven of foreign magic and downright fantasy. Could they be the stories of other woldly places?

"Where are we really?" she muses aloud. "We used the magic of a portal to leave Oddholme, right? So, it makes sense we're not under our dome. But where are we?" The rogue thinks of all the places of deep magic to which the party has ventured: the manfri rock where the party fought Kall'a'teck, the boneyard on the plains where the great moth hatched out of its cocoon, the little temple near the Chrystal mountains where they had encountered Father Dreem, The Scab where the party meet a dryad, a dragon prince, and Valdor, Ice Vein, and Ironholme. Then a flash, so clear it makes the gnome wince. Flea remembers the golden door and the magic that landed Trellus' on his keyster.
Rattledam.

Turning to face her companions, she says in a low voice, "you don't think we're under Rattledam do you?"

The Bloodpack continue their investigation of the chamber, theorizing about how this place may connect to other parts of the Wold. Of course, the only way to learn where the other portals might go is to journey out to the ends of each outer spoke and activate the portal. Tishe' suggests that this might be where the undead came from, or Horvis for that matter. When their memory is triggered by Olaf's declaration, both former residents of Ice Vein remember that they found their way to Oddholme through this portal system. So at least one of the portal goes to another part of the Southern Continent. Flea theorizes that either this entire complex, or maybe a portal, is part of the mystery that lies beneath Rattledam.

Olaf has barely reported what only he has observed and heard. None of the others, not even Yanosh, received the communication from whatever is within the bowl-like depression in the centre of the chamber.

The Bloodpack now have to determine whether they will stay here in the central chamber to continue investigating this mystery, return to Oddholme, or explore the rest of the outer portions of the complex. While they are deciding, Olaf receives another communication.

Olaf quirks his head to the side briefly, then closes his eyes briefly and nods.

Turning to his companions, he says, "I'm getting a feelin' like we have a task here. Somethin' that the natural powers of the Wold, er, at least the Vein, be wantin'. Somethin' important, real important. Ya see, those spirits, in the bowl? They've got a message fer us. 'Guard the portal. Clear the path. Save the wold.' Now I'm rememberin' that we came here to stop a real threat to the Wold. Seems to me that we need to track down Horvis right quick, and figure out how to keep 'im an' 'is cronies from raisin' trouble." He takes a deep breath after his uncharacteristically long speech, then finishes, "so...maybe we should figure some defense o' the portal? And some scoutin' of the evil down here?"

Flea rubs her nose, as she thinks. Thinks as deeply as she possibly can. Then she goes to the edge of the 'bowl' and peeps down. Looks like nothing to her, but a faintly glowing bowl.

Flea steps away from the bowl and starts an examination of the doors. "Which ones look like they've been used recently?" she says aloud as she scouts the doors.

Trellus gives Olaf a long look, clearly trying to decide whether this relative newcomer to the Pack is weaving with all the right threads or not. After a few moments, he nods. After all, he's received enough visions himself, Domi knows.

"Guard the portal. Clear the path. Save the Wold." he repeats. "Light, I hope there ain't an undead ice dude at the end of this one."

Having come to an agreement that the Pack will be sticking around. The blond man starts thinking on what to do next. He doesn't think long.
"Let's focus on 'clear the path'" he directs. "The only sure fact we know is those dudes that jumped us left tracks back there." Trellus points toward the tunnel the Pack entered from.
"Let's go back that way, follow those tracks, find them treadles, and clear us a path."

A Picture of the Complex (DM JohnP)

The Bloodpack try to puzzle out the underground complex that the portal in Oddholme has brought them to. After entering by the portal, the Bloodpack explored a long tunnel that finally joined another tunnel where they fought a battle with some undea. Then, exploring that second tunnel, they realzed that it lead a circular path. When they came across a third tunnel leading inwards, the Bloodpack followed it to the large central chamber where they are now.

That central chamber has four exits, counting the one that they entered from. The floor, but not the walls or ceiling, of the central chamber slowly rotates at what some feel would take a complete day for each rotation. The chamber has a central depression that seems vacant to most but the votary cleric, Olaf, can see coloured lights (or something) inside. Olaf has received a cryptic message from Celsun, the Power that he worships, but he senses that there are other Powers here, as well. He was simply most attuned to the Power from Ice Vein so that is the voice that Olaf heard most clearly.

MAP - Complex

After Olaf communicates the messages from Celsun and the other Powers, the rest of the Bloodpack determine that guarding the portal must mean that they need to track down and deal with the spellcaster and vampires that escaped the last battle. To do so, they need to retrace their steps from the chamber and take up the curious trail left by the large snake and the undead.

Anyone who still wants to do something in the central chamber still has a chance before the Bloodpack try to take the fight to the portal that the spellcaster and undead came from.

Listening to Vayine's comment, Olaf grins at the prospect of heading back to the land of his birth. Still, he thinks it an unlikely outcome, stating, "I'm thinkin' we have a bit o' work ta do here first, leastwise so I'm hoping. Mightin' be, as Yanosh said, that there's some connection between these things and someone like Burfell, but I'm hopin' that ain't happened yet. Let's get this place protected first, I say."

With that, he turns towards the central depression, and begins a short homage to Celsiun. Quietly, he intones, "Well now spirits o' the Vein, I figured we never did see eye to eye on most things, seein' as mostly us mortals do all the dyin', but I can say I'm mighty appreciative o' the signals ya been givin' here. I just hope we're on the right path now, and that the threat ain't no bigger than the big one we already got: a crazy druid on the loose, trying to muck up the woldsblood n' all that. Guess I'm hopin' that we can do one better'n that, if you'll allow--hopin' that we can make this a step forward fer the vein n' even cold Celsiun. Just askin' that ya keep guidin' me as ya can, 'sall." He stamps his feet a few times, spits to the side, then turns back to Trellus and the rest of the pack, and prepares to track down the undead.

The Bloodpack prepare to go out and confront the undead and the spellcaster that threatened them before. Trellus is impatient to get going but waits long enough for Olaf to pay homage to Celsun. The votary cleric feels that his Power welcomes the praise but he also senses an echo, as if others had overheard his prayer and were jealous of Celsun.

Vayine, Flea and Yanosh are ready to strike out with the others. Flea, however, pauses when she hears about the Ice Vein.

Tishe' plays a hunch and addresses a question to Ma'ab and Eberyon. The message that she gets is difficult to understand since both Powers respond to her direct entreaty.

After this, the Bloodpack retrace their steps to the outer ring and continue following the trails left by the undead and the snake-thing. They pass by one more tunnel leading outwards before reaching the tunnel where the trail leads. There has been no sign of watchers, traps or anything else to arouse the interest of Flea and the other scouts. Of course, that also means no sign of Horvis but no one is too surprised about that. Like Gilan, the evil shifter probably took the form of a bat or some other flying creature in order to avoid leaving tracks.

The question, now, is how do they proceed to what presumably is the portal that the undead and the snake-thing came from.

Tishe' staggers back from the lip, two voices she has only heard in her favorite dreams speaking directly to her mind. Rather dazed, she follows along with the group until they get to the outer corridor that leads (presumably) to the undead portal.

Then she begins speaking quietly but with great excitement to Gilan. "Ma'ab was in the middle! And Ebyron too! Mother and Father Wold!" She gets a grip and tells the others. "They said the same as Olaf's Ice Vien Powers, that we should get ready and secure the safe way.." she shakes her head to clear her memory. "And that we should be ready for... for the message, the death, the birth, and the change."

And, now that she has delivered her dieties message, the small woman's quick-changing mind turns to battle and she grips her Staff and Bag.

"If they could be a thread more specific on the actual path we're supposed to clear, I'd love to hear it," he sighs.

The cleric nods in response to Yanosh's thoughts. "Bet this is some kind of Portal port," he agrees. "Should be fun checking the other places out....once we have the time."

"But right now, let's go make sure these treadles went back to whereever they came from. Gil, Flea, and Olaf - after you."
Trellus bows and presents an arm down the tunnel.
"Oh, and be careful."

Once the three scouts head in, Trellus follows with Grymash, while nodding at Vayine to continue to watch their backs.

Gilan simply nods his lizard head and slips back into the tunnel, that they had originally entered. He continues to pace slightly ahead of the group but stays on the ceiling. As he moves he tries to keep his senses on the surroundings and watching for any type of ambush.

So far this little exploration has been rather interesting and has gotten rather strange...though for some reason, he believes this to be in a good way.

Into the Spoke (DM JohnP)

The Bloodpack proceed into the spoke, the scouts moving ahead as directed by Trellus while Vayine picks up the rear. Gilan silently pads along overhead, keeping pace with his companions. As they proceed, Tishe' informs the group that it was not simply the Power worshipped by Olaf but Eberyon and Maab, as well, that spoke from the depression in the central chamber.

As before, the glyphs along the sides glow and illuminate the tunnel as Olaf, Yanosh and Flea move forward. Nothing too surprising, now, but it still removes any chance of surprising whoever or whatever is waiting for them.

When they are nearly to the end of the tunnel, the scouts see something different. Stone walls close off the tunnel so that a large creature would have to squeeze through a narrow area in the centre of the tunnel. Medium or small creatures could walk through easily, but would be in a narrow corridor for a short distance. Since the walls continue all the wall to the ceiling, considerable time and effort (or multiple uses of a spell) must have gone into the construction of this barrier.

Flea aknowledges the cleric's offer. "Give it to one of the big 'uns, I think I'll be okay without it."

The rogue ensures her ring remains activated, and then snugs her special leather armour a little closer about her frame.

Flea will attemptsto get around the obstacle, either moving around it, or climbing=8, or following after any openings created by her peers. If folks aren't trying to be too quiet or sneaky, she'll lend the power of her wand to the project (UMD=21, 15 pts dmg). Once on the other side, she does her best to evade detection.

Gilan, from his position on the ceiling, looks straight down to the group and then cocks his head to the side. He waits to see if there are any other ideas about the wall, though he does take the time to study them a little...trying to gauge their thickness and how hard it would be to break them.

Of course, in his current form it would be easy for him to go around them...or over them as the case maybe. Then there was the problem of the others though and if they are willing to climb over each one. He tries to guess how many more he can see ahead of him in the passage and give this information to the group as well.

No one comes up with a coordinated plan for exploring what lays ahead.

Trellus offers some potions to the others who might be interested in sneaking ahead invisibly. No one seems interested, though.

Tishe' suggests that she teleport some people past the barrier once the invisible ones have snuck through. Of course, no one has taken the potions. Form her examination, though, the theurge is convinced that the stone walls are the products of several Wall of Stone spells. Enough to nearly reach across the tunnel, from floor to ceiling.

Gilan looks at the opening ahead of him and realizes that there is no way over, under or around the wall. If he wants to get to the other side, he'll either have to pass down the length of that narrow passage or somehow get through the wall.

Grymash stands around waiting for direction.

Vayine, Olaf and Yanosh are silent. Also waiting for direction.

It's Flea who decides to scout ahead. After activating her ring, the gnome moves close to where the magically created stone wall merges with the natural stone along the sides of the tunnel. Timing it carefully after a couple false starts, the rogue is able to Blink through the stone wall which proves to be less than a foot thick. Hiding in the shadows on the other side, Flea can see what there is to see.

Flea only - Highlight to display spoiler: {The walls have been created roughly 20 or 30 feet from where the tunnel opens into the circular portal room. Like where they entered, there is a pattern inscribed into the centre of the floor and roughly 10 feet around that, making for a room 40 feet in diameter. From where she is hiding, Flea cannot see all of the portal room but what she can see gives her pause.

As expected, there is a large snake-like creature on the far side of the room. Closer to the centre there are two piles of bones, although Flea may not be able to identify what the things are. From the shifting shadows in the portal room, Flea thinks that there is at least one other creature along the sides where she cannot see.

As Flea moves in to make her attempt, Trellus holds up a cautionary hand, holding the rest of the pack in place. The cleric carefully monitors the gnome's condition via the Status spell he has cast on her.

Glancing at Tishe, he remarks. "If we go, we'll use your Dimension Door. Take Gry and Yanosh with you."

The blond man turns back to the narrowed passageway, willing himself to see through the walls and protect the rogue. He can't, of course, and nervously awaits her return.

Tishe' nods and moves over to the dwarf and half-orc, laying a hand on Yanosh' shoulder and Grymash's forearm. The unblinking eye burned into the back of her right hand is clearly visible on Grymash's forearm.

"I'm ready to Dim Door the three of us past the Stone Walls", she tells the two clerics to Gargul. "Get your weapons and spells ready, for as soon as I do, you will be able to see the enemy and have the element of surprise."

ooc: It is Tishe's intent to 'READY' her Dim Door with Yanosh and Grymash "READY" with thier own actions as soon as the spell is complete. That way, we don't lose surprise! :-)

Flea has never been particularly wise, but she isn't stupid. The snake-like creature at the far side of the room is a curiosity, and Flea can't bear to return to her companions and chance it getting away.

The beginner bard decides to try bardic magic on the creature. Keeping an eye on the shadows for the second mystery creature (Spot=15) she moves to within 90 ft. of the snake--but no farther and starts to chant her poem in a firm, clear voice:

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us--don't tell!
They'd banish us, you know.*


Perform=15. If she is lucky, the creature will be fascinated (p. 28 PHB) Will vs 15 to negate.

Flea focuses hard on what she is doing. She hopes her voice is loud enough for her friends to hear her and discern her position from the other side of the wall.

Gilan does not like the idea of the group splitting up and as he moves forward he looks to the narrow opening that is there to travel down. What kind of surprises will await the group on that route he does not know and is not sure that he can risk finding out.

He is of course pondering the idea of just going on through as he will not leave the others at the mercy of the enemy. If that means he takes some damage for his troubles, he will do just that. Besides, he has not been told to hold his position yet anyways.

After a brief conference, Trellus suggests that Tishe' take herself and two others into the room. The theurge prepares to do so, selecting Grymash and Yanosh to go with her.

Olaf stands ready beside Trellus. From where he stands, he cannot see any traps in the narrow passageway between the magically created stone walls.

Grymash prepares to be teleported again.

Gilan is also ready to engage the opponents in battle.

Yanosh prepares by casting Hide from Undead upon himself.

Vayine also stands near Trellus.

Flea creeps ahead a bit and begins to sing, hoping to enspell the snake creature that she sees.

As soon as she hears the faint sounds of the bard singing, Tishe' casts her spell and takes the two fighters with her. They arrive in the mouth of the room, beyond the magically created walls. The three get a good view of both the snake creature that they fought earlier and the other thing. Of course, the two fighters are free to act.

Tishe' pops into existance, and surveys the lighted area, (Local Know: 24, Dungeoneering:23) and immediately calls out loudly for the rest of her packmates. "The snake-thing is a Yaun-Ti, and there is a Dark Naga with it!"

"Beware the naga" she tells Yanosh and Grymash, remembering little bits of information from years of study, "not only is it poisoned, but it is a sorceress and can read your thoughts."

Tishe' backs up 10 feet to clear her and her packmates fighting spaces (and to not make too tempting a target) and gets ready to unleash more of her magic.

Tishe' completes her teleportation spell and immediately sees the opponents waiting for her companions. The theurge calls out to her companions even as she is backing up to clear the way for them to act.

Trellus activates his boots and rises towards the ceiling even as he is moving down the narrow passageway.

Yanosh moves quickly towards the naga, planning to wreak havoc upon it.

Olaf moves quickly down the corridor and into the room. As he clears the corridor, a loud noise sounds through the portal chamber. Obviously, he has triggered some kind of alarm but nothing damages the cleric. He tucks himself around the corner of the wall and prepare for action.

Gilan moves forward, squeezing into the narrow corridor and coming close to Trellus before moving onto the wall of the passageway.
DM Request -- Not sure of the movement rate for the lizard. Can you post?

Vayine also moves down the corridor and tries to make the right hand wall. He doesn't quite reach it, however.

Grymash readies himself.

Flea moves closer to the action, hoping to use her song to capture the attention of one of the opponents. Neither seems to be affected, though. Flea does recall what she can of the creatures and may even have a chance to relate what she knows.

The yuan-ti moves up to the pile of bones and reaches down while it is casting a spell. When the spell is complete, the pile of bones begins to stir and separates into a huge creature and two smaller ones. The Bloodpack is now facing a skeletal giant constrictor snake and two regular constrictors. Once the skeletons have risen, the yuan-ti shouts some commands in a hissing, sibilant language. Of course, it's easy to guess what command has been given to the snakes.

The dark naga readies itself, rising to its full height in the air. It seems to concentrate for a moment and then a small ball of fire streaks towards the Bloodpack. The fireballs bursts in front of the opening of the small corridor, catching everyone but Trellus and Flea within the flames.
Fireball -- 29 pts Fire damage; Reflex save vs. DC 17 for half (14 pts)

The skeletal constrictor vies to be the first to capture Yanosh, moving 5 feet forward and then attacking. It almost hits the dwarf, but stands ready to attack again.

Feeling suddenly faster, he transfers his bow to his off-hand [free action], and heads towards the dark naga to support Yanosh [move diagonal to R13 (50'), which stays out of the 3 square reach of the huge creature, then tumbles 1 square to T11 [total move of 65' < 70'], tumble check 18 vs DC 15]. On the way he pulls out his sickle [draw weapon during a move] and upon arrival, lays into the creature, hitting AC 28 for 7+4 cold damage.

Perhaps Vayine's body absorbed the damaging magics, or maybe the rogue was just lucky. (Reflex=24, Evasion feat) Whatever the reason, Flea avoids injury from the fireball.

Trellus barely pauses after seeing the fireball engulf his companions. Deciding to return the favour, the cleric flies in closer and casts a spell upon the yuan-ti and the huge skeletal snake. He is satisfied to see the snake take the full force of the spell but the yuan-ti avoids any damage from the spell.
DM Note -- I rolled caster level check vs. spell resistance

Tishe casts a spell to improve her companions' ability in combat after avoiding any damage from that fireball.

Yanosh moves around the skeletons and towards the naga. With the extra speed provided by Tishe' spell, the dwarf is able to reach the naga and attack. Yanosh has the satisfaction of seeing his axe sink into the flesh of the naga.

Gilan begins casting a spell to summon a creature to assist his companions.

Olaf escapes the fireball and makes his way to beside the naga. His axe slices into the body of the evil creature.

Grymash is singed and that triggers his rage. Screaming something in orcish, the half-orc charges at the skeletal giant constrictor. The undead creature attacks once as Grymash closes with it but misses.

Vayine steps to the wall, wondering what to do after being burned so badly.

Flea charges the the naga but her own magics prevent her from hitting it.

Flea sees the sudden shift of the Naga, but her own familiarity with illusions prevents the creature from escaping her blade. Hasted and blinking, the rogue steps forward, bobbing and weaving and repeatedy stabbing and slashing with her tiny blade. The naga has little hope of escaping all of her strikes.

Gilan completes his spell and calls an elemental from the rock of the floor. The elemental follows the shifter's commands but cannot attack the yuan-ti. In fact, it can't even get close to the snake-creature.

Trellus was going to cast a healing spell over an area in front of him, affecting three of his companions. Unfortunately, he only has the spell granted to him by his Protection domain and he is unable to convert that into a curing spell. He still descends to the ground.
DM Note -- Domain spells cannot be used for Spontaneous Casting of Cure spell. Spell isn't expended but movement did occur.

Tishe' recognizes the spell cast by the naga and acts to remove it. The theurge casts a spell, willing it to succeed and strip the protective magic from the naga. As soon as she casts, the naga seems to 'snap' back to where it was standing before.

Grymash calms down and swings with calculated deliberation at the skeletal giant constrictor snake. His second swing destroys the huge undead even though the orc axe isn't doing full damage. The remaining swings are directed at the smaller skeletal snake and do not do enough damage to destroy it.

Vayine moves to attack the nearest undead. His sword slams into the skeletal constrictor snake, damaging it severely. Unfortunately, because the drow moved before attacking, he only managed to swing once.

Flea moves slightly and stabs the naga with her sword. The wound drops the naga to the floor.

Olaf waited for Flea to move before acting. Since Flea dropped the naga, Olaf doesn't move.

Yanosh easily withstands whatever the yuan-ti tried to do. The dwarf slashes at the skeletal snake beside him, dropping it with two swings.

The yuan-ti completes the motions of a spell and suddenly doubles in size, looming high over the Bloodpack. Then it slithers away from most of the Bloodpack, shrugging a shield into place as it does.

The remaining undead attacks and misses Grymash.

Grinning, Tishe' is elated to see the naga go down, and she turns her attention on the advancing Yaun-Ti (Spellcraft 21, 15). Recognizing at least the one spell that caused the enlargement, she warns her companions; "It's a clerical caster with Righteous Might!"

"Looks like you like magical enhancements, too", she tells the abomination, and her Pearl of Power glows as its magics allow the theruge to recall a spell.

Then, another targeted Dispel Magic leaves Tishe's hands, and her voice directs it to strip all magical enhancements from the yuan-ti. (Dispel Magic: 17, 15, 27) (ooc: rolled three times in case of three spells)

Gilan finishes the second of a set of summoning spells and then moves slightly to be behind the yaun-ti. Without a second thought he will drop down behind it, his form rippling and shifting as he does. What will land by the yaun-ti is a 10000 pound large angry worm. He lets out a roar as both he and his large earth elementals converge on the no large foe.

Trellus pauses for a moment before figuring out why he couldn't cast his healing spell.
"Hmm", he comments to himself.

Looking up, the cleric discovers that his packmates have removed the need for immediate healing by removing most of the treadles. Seeing who's left, the blond man decides to clean up Tishe's leftovers. He follows up her dispel with one of his own.
