He ponders the little lore he knows of the Powers of the wold, and their relation to the god, and thinks about the potential for the rival to be working at odds to those who revere the Woldsblood, including Gargul. Flea hops from foot to foot nervously at news that the tokens would be good for only the remainder of the day.

How long have we been here? she wonders.

Without the natural shifting of the woldly sun, the rogue is unsure of how much time has passed. However, the gnome waits for the packmates witnessing the visions to get as much information as they deem necessary for the group to make a wise decision.

As Tishe' and Olaf reveal what the Powers are telling more questions are growing...

Gilan wonders how they can help without knowing what they are looking for. Who are the ones that need to protect this 'Child'?

Trellus along with Grymash hovers at the entrance to the corridor ready to go home. Yanosh too wants to leave and asks Tishe' or Olaf to check who the 'Northern God' is. Flea is mainly worried what would happen if the Tokens are no longer working...
Olaf is worried that asking that could annoy his deity and gives it some thought...

Caught in a reverie for some time, as he pondered the potential meaning of the Northern god, Olaf suddenly cries out in pain, clutching his chest and falling to his knees.

After a moment, he recovers slightly, then says, "An evil northern god, opposed to Gargul...just thinkin' it, and," he pauses. Catches his breath. "Bam. A pain in my chest. My heart. This ain't good."

"Opposed to Gargul?" he asks in confusion. "I didn't think there was anyone directly opposed to Gargul."

The cleric thinks a bit more, and shrugs. "The Diseased One is my bet," he remarks. "Undead is his style."

Flea watches the drama as those with a religious bent seem to be entranced by some other-woldly visions. The rogue isn't too worried though, until Olaf clutches his chest in pain.

"Let's go!" she says, "before our old tokens don't work anymore. Let's go home to Oddholme and the Sargrass."

Gilan listens and then nods his own head as well. He might have made a move to help Olaf, but he does not figure that the man would have appreciated and it seemed that he was not truely hurt. "Flea is right. We need to build back up our power and prepare than." He glances to Trellus and arches an eyebrow in question and wonder. This was getting way too confusing and though they were not the ones that would be in the direct line of fire...they were close enough.

Glancing to the others he steels himself, for he will not lose anyone else. The Bloodpack have truely earned their name in more ways than one and several times they have paid in blood...too precious blood.

Tishe' curtsies again and then waves as if to a well-loved grandmother. "Well, great-great-great-great-gr... the first Grandmother anyways."

She turns with a amazed smile to her friends, too full of her recent experience to realize Olaf had a different outcome. "Ma'ab and Ebyron said that the child is important and is from all of them. Well, all but one. They said that chaos can help us, but I don't know how not being predictable can help."

"But they said again that we are to keep Oddholme and the path safe."

She slumps suddenly. "I think I need to rest." she admits wearily.

Silently Yanosh and Vayine wait near the corridor entrance while their friends interact with their Deities. Not feeling the presence of their deity (Vayine does worship Gargul doesn't he?) doesn't seem to bother them.

Olaf is caught in a reverie until he suddenly cries out in pain, clutching his chest and falling to his knees... telling the others what he has experienced he's the first to find that some deity is opposing Gargul...

Trellus wonders who could be the one to oppose Gargul and guesses it could be the Diseased One... perhaps Marteaus... yes... although he isn't convinced about it.

Witnessing Olaf going down on his knees because of some visions the rogue gets worried and urges everyone, backed by Gilan, to return to Oddholme.

Unlike Olaf, Tishe's' visions weren't painful nor unpleasant. She has found out some more clues about this 'Child' and again the Powers have asked her to keep the path safe...


Slowly all visions in the central portal disappear but still the light shines brightly... almost as if it is awaiting something to happen... good?... or bad?!?

Then the time has come for the Bloodpack to return home.

Following the corridor they originally came from -- marked by Flea when you came in -- the Bloodpack finds the portal that leads them back to Oddholme. The silence in the portal complex is only stirred by the steady pace of the Pack. The Glyphs illuminating their path only leave pitch black darkness behind them...

Still... you can almost feel the tension in the air...

Something will happen...

"Stay shuttlecocked," Trellus unnecessarily warns the pack in a low tone. "There are way too many way too powerful types telling us to keep this place and OddHolme safe. Which means something totally sunbaked is heading our way."

The cleric waits for the pack to get into marching formation - Olaf and Flea out front, Grymash, Gilan, himself, Tishe, Yanosh and Vayine - and does his level best to get everyone moving straight to and thru the portal to OddHolme.

Olaf, still reeling from close contact to the Powers of the Wold, listens at half attention to Trellus's command. Turning to Flea, he says, "Thanks for yer words. Hope you know I always got yer back." He then follows in behind Flea, keeping an eye out for traps, and his heart fixed on solving the puzzle of the unknown God.

Gilan just falls into step with the others, though his senses have turned to the area that they are traveling through. They have a lot to think about but they also do not really have the luxury to think about them right now...better to be safe first.

Then again, they have at least two vampires that got away and he is not sure where they are at. That would be enough to bother anyone...well, maybe not Grymash.

Once back at the OddHolme portal room, Tishe' activates her token and returns to the Bloodpack's lair. "I wonder how long we've been gone?", she wonders idly, "and how Murdock and Aeryon are doing?"

Slowly and cautiously the Bloodpack find the portal that will lead them back to Oddholme...
Inside the Complex, nothing stirs...

Using their tokens one after the other the Bloodpack returns to the familiar surroundings of Oddholme and are quickly welcomes by Aeyron and Murdock who have been anxiously awaiting their return.
Noticing some of you look a bit bruised they patch you up and expect you to tell everything that happend over a nice dinner.

Now's the time to rest and prepare for whatever is coming your way...

Tishe' definitely uses the opportunity to jaunt over to the Catacombs. "It's really good that OddHolme has a opening to the best magic shop in the Wold!", she exclaims.

She uses the rest of her time to have a little enjoyment with her packmates, Murdock, and Aeryon; get her personal place more put together; clean up Oddholme; and build and weave things for her packmates and common areas.

Gilan is glad to be back home and after he sees that everything is safe he venture off to take care of setting up his garden further. He will also check upon the prairie pigs that he brougth in before they left and see how they are doing.

Once he has time to clean up and stuff he has another thought and goes to find Tishe'. "I have a few identify scrolls left that you can use on that stuff we found...if you want?" He will drop off the scroll case they are in with her or return it to his own personal grove if she does not want them.

This night he figures to sleep well and then in the morning, he should check into bringing in more animals that can be used to sustain the place that they are going to start and call home.

Trellus gives the spell component pouch Flea found back to the gnome.
"Can you tell how much each vial is worth?" he asks. "Some spells require a certain value."
The cleric chuckles softly. "I don't wanna leave Domi short," he remarks playfully.

Later, at dinner, he fills in Murdock and Aeyron on everything that happened.
"And so," he concludes, "I think we need to get warped up to receive some company. Both this Chaos champion, and the treadles who we need to keep everything safe from."

He turns to Murdock. "Do you know if its possible to teleport or dimension door or plane walk or picks like that while inside OddHolme? I know we thought no one can come through the outer field that way, but what happens once you're already inside?"

Once back home in Oddholme Yanosh retires to his place and knees before his alter to Gargul. "Lord Gargul, Father of all that breaths, Reaper of those that have fallen, help me to understand what God is threatening the lands of the South. Show me what I am to do. I am but an insigificant one of this Wold. But one who wishes to serve you as best I can." Yanosh once more pleads with Gargul to lend him help in the matter before the 'Pack.

Tishe' thanks Gilan and with the Identify scrolls and her own Wand of Identification, she is ready to find out the magical properties of any piece they haven' t identified by other means.

ooc: Tishe' will cast Detect Magic on all the collected items. Then cast Identify on each item found to be magic.

"If we haven't tried yet, we can try by DIm Dooring tomorrow.", Tishe' says with confidence.

The moment the Pack gets back to Oddholme rest seems to return to them. Although deep down they realize something is about to come down on them. Trellus marvels about a Chaos Champion and doesn't worry too much about the treadles they'll be protecting the Dome and the Portal Complex from...

Flea begins to examine the loot the Bloodpack has gathered. Aided by a few identify spells of Gilan if needed. Trellus hands back the vials to Flea asking her to make an appraise of all of them. Before rushing of to the Catacombs Tishe' first helps with the identifying of the loot.

At dinner Trellus tells everything that went down in the Portal Complex to Ayreon and Murdock. Both caretakers of Oddholme are impressed! Ayreon gives his brother a pat on the back asking him to be slightly more cautious when he encounters venomous creatures! After all... Ayreon nearly lost his brother and he grew to like Oddholme too much to go out killing all that took his brother away!

Before going to bed Grymash wonders who would be daring or foolish enough to defy Gargul himself! The Lord of Life and Death! Yanosh too seeks guidance from his God and pray's... he pray's for answers... guidance... strength... but all he hears and feels is... void... emptiness... Where is his beloved God?!?

That night everyone goes to sleep safe and sound... Only Grymash and Yanosh (and I believe Vayine also worships Gargul now doesn't he?) have strange nightmares... they feel lost... trapped... as if something has been taken away from them or as if they lost control of something... Gargul... Woldsblood... Heart... Chaos...

.....

The next morning all is peaceful. Gilan goes out to see how his animals are doing. They haven't been away for too long though so his prairie pigs haven't changed that much yet. Still they are in good condition. Ayreon and Murdock follow his instructions well and they have taken care of his animals while he was gone.

All is peaceful indeed... only Grymash and Yanosh (and possibly Vayine) still feel a loss.

Flea shares the information she gleans from her examination of the loot with her companions, including what she can learn from the goodies in the pouch. (OOC: No e-mail as of 6:50 Timmins time, but will assume it will come sooner or later.)

Not being the religious type, Flea overly concerned about the gods. None the less, picking up on the disquiet of the folks who favour Gargul, she seeks out Trellys.

"Um," she starts, "um, all's well with Domi,eh?" she queries. "You're not picking up on any worries?"

Outside Gilan finds the prairie pigs in high spirits and well taken care off. Despite the fact that they appear to be giant slugs, he spends time with them...talking to each of them in turn and checking them over. With a laugh he scratches one on the head as it bumps him in the side.

Glancing around he sighs as he has been having trouble with getting trees to grow in the ground here, not that he had expected it to be easy. The only ones that seem to be working out are the tree tokens that he had planted, but that was probably because they were magical anyways. "Mother lend me strength to get through this and find a way to grow my own grove." With a shake of his head and a last scratch of each of the prairie pigs heads he steps back outside.

His morning prayers had already been done, which was actually his morning song to the rising sun. It was a tribute to both Mother and Father and something that he had been doing for a long time now.

[Just a side-note: I am James, not my brother. Sorry if that disappoints anyone. :)]

Grymash spends the night training with his double ax. When he tires of it, he switches to daggers and so on. His mind is too uneasy for sleep. His prayers seem to be falling on deaf ears. Like hollow whispers into the night. The pounding of his beating heart and the steely death he skillfully wields about the air is the only comfort he feels. Pausing to catch his breath, he teases his skin with the razor sharp edge of his blades. A small prick, a drop of blood. His mind consumed in chaos stands on the precipice ... should he ... should he dare .... prove his god, Lord Gargul, is there!!

Yanosh goes to Trellus. "Trellus I believe our problem is bigger then we think." Looking him in the eyes the Dwarf Cleric turns serious. "I can not feel the presence of Gargul and havent since this all began. It has me worried as there is something apposed to him. But what could have negated him from the Wold? Or has he left us down here in the Sargrass alone?"

Tishe' has no reservations about the Powers that revealed information to her: she knows they were Ma'ab and Ebyron! "I've met more Powers than I ever knew were in the Wold", she tells Olaf, "and it has only deepened my belief that they are an intrical part of the tapestry being woven."

The plain-faced woman knows that rest is just as important as preparation, and so tries to give herself down-time in order to get ready for her dieties' stresses. Weaving drapes, blankets, and other homey things makes her at ease and remembering her childhood with her family. (Takes 10 on weaving: 17)

It takes several moments for Trellus to correctly process what Yanosh is telling him.
"No Gargul?" he mouths, somewhat stunned.

Flea asks about Domi, the the cleric shrugs. "Feels the same as always," he answers.

The blond man rubs the back of his neck.
"In fact, I'll see if I can ask him."

The next morning, Trellus wakes and does just that.

Don't forget your littlest servant, she thinks, wondering what the results of Trellus' commune with the god will yield.

Most of the Pack wonder why the powers have been communicating with them and what could possibly be wrong with Gargul. Olaf wrecks his brain but ultimately gives up and takes care of the defenses of his new home/

Flea examines the stuff more closely (I meant I sent John and email not you ;-) ) and gives her friends an estimate value of a few items.

Necklace -- estimate value 20800 Gp
Ring -- estimate value 11200 Gp
Rod -- estimate value 19000 Gp
Shield -- estimate value 9100 Gp

There's no final estimation yet on the Cloak nor potions.

During her searches she questions Trellus on how Domi reacts on all this. After all, he wasn't present... was he?...

Gilan tends to his animals and garden and prays for ways to make trees grow out here...

Grymash hopes to find his beloved God in training and pain. Never before has his God abandoned him! Perhaps now's the time to see if he's really listening?!

Yanosh too is getting worried that is God is no longer listening. And who could be the one that is opposing him?!?

Tishe' reassures Olaf that there's nothing wrong with his visions. She's certain she saw Queen Maab and Eberyon and she's convinced Olaf did indeed see Chelsiun.

Vayine too can feel the loss of his God but since he's fairly new in the worshipping business he didn't think it would matter.

Trellus feels the time has come to commune with his God.

Not sure how much time they are going to have at home and how restful it is going to be, Gilan goes into what will be his grove and to his prepared circle. He had turned the ground into permanent stone after he had drawn the circle needed to allow him to pass into the fey realm.

As he looks to the circle he smiles and then laying all the stuff that he does not need to the side, he moves forward with his brewing gear. His wooden athame is in his hand and with expert movements, honed from practice, he goes about setting the circle and then returns to the middle.

Letting himself settle into a nice comfortable position he lays out his stuff before him that will be needed in the creation of a few potions and then waits. The magic flares and he finds himself seated in a lush forest in the middle of the fey realm, actually it is a small pocket in the fey realm as you can still see the wavering images of the grove that he lives in in the background. So he begins his work for this day to create the first of his two potions.

[StephenK, there are 16 identify scrolls in the case if you want to use any of them. Just let me know how many of them you want to use as Gilan cannot use them himself. :)]

Pulling the dagger away from his neck, Grymash remembers the first rule of Gargul ... "Do not tempt Gargul!" He hangs his head in shame for considering to take his own life. To ride the river of blood to see his Master.

Grymash removes what pieces of armor he still wears and walks over to the hearth. Taking hand fulls of cool ash from last nights fire, he begins to rub it across his head, chest and arms. Covering as much of himself as he can. "Gry nothin' but ash. Lord Gargul, please, da servant need make like new again!"

Vayine waits for Trellus to receive his answers, but the impending attack on Oddholme gives the drow plenty to think about. Defending Oddholme is something he knows how to do. Choke points, weak points, defensive structures, that is what where the drows thoughts wander now.

While Trellus still has the strength he continues to commune with Domi...

Does the Bloodpack have the means to help Gargul? -- YES

Does a God of Testing wish to stop the Child aborning? - NO

Is the Child to be born in Oddholme? NO

Is an attack coming on Oddholme within the next week? NO

After this séance Trellus once again has a few vague answers and perhaps even more riddles? There appears to be no connection!?!

Uncertain how much time the Bloodpack will have for him to tend to his garden, Gilan enjoyes the time he gets. Peace and quite is most refreshing... it comforts the Shifter that besides a roaring remorhaz there's still a peaceful person inside...
He even has some time to brew a few potions (at least to start them)

Frustrated by his God's absence Grymash remembers the first rules of Gargul not to tempt him. Again he prays profoundly to his deity...

Vayine remains calm but already prepares plans for an imminent attack on Oddholme. This is why he was trained for!

Yanosh remains in a state of contemplation... what has happened with Gargul?!? How can mere mortals help a God?


Another days passes slowly but that night Trellus, exhausted from the communing, has feverish dreams...

The hours is starting to get late and Gilan is putting the final touches on his potion brewing. The natural herbs that he prepared are in his small cauldron and as he continues to soak in the peace of the wild lands, he starts his spell.

His hand glows faintly over the cauldron as he pours the needed spell into the bubbling liquid. With the completion of the spell, the fire underneath the cauldron goes out and the liquid inside glows brightly for a few seconds...to slowly condense down to just enough to fill the two vials that he has at his side. Sweating and shaking from the exertion that it takes in this realm, he pours the liquid into the two vials.

As he slowly stands he looks out at the wavering forest and wilds with a smile. He would so love to go to explore the land that Mother and Father calls home, but the would lead to his own death and he knows it. The fae allow him this pocket realm to do his work because the have taken an interest in him...but he also knows that he must be leery about that as well. One of these days, a fae might just ask for a boon from him for the use of this small pocket of the fae realm.

Pulling out the wooden athame he goes through the delicate gestures and words that will break the magic that binds him in this place. As the fae realm slowly slips away, he feels the loss greatly and slumps into himself. Gathering up his gear he takes the time to clean it, but only after taking the time to brush away the thin layer of special herbs and dirt that lays in the carved circle in the stone that makes up his workshop. "What are you doing now my brother?" There is still that hole that his animal brother use to fill inside his heart and not for the first or last time, he thinks of Ciaran.

His sleep this night was filled with dreams of the fae realm, of danger and maybe a warning from his Mother and Father...though the last is lost upon waking. Though well rested, he still feels drained but his daily exercises wait for him and he must make his prayers to Mother and Father. With this in mind he paces easily through the dome and to the outside to watch the rising sun and his song begins.

Flea enjoys figuring out what the treasure is all about, but the rogue doesn't enjoy the stress she picks up from the clerical types.

The rogue knows from experience that when Gargul isn't happy, nobody's happy. And what's up with the others? When she see's Trellus in the morning, the cleric isn't looking so good.

Prior day -

After completing the Commune spell, Trellus isn't feeling very comfortable. Almost immediately, he moves to add some newfound power to the protective spell he had cast around the Portal.

[Dismiss Glyph of Warding. Cast Greater Glyph of Warding as a 60 sq ft area around centered on the middle of the Portal. Any individual of evil alignment entering that area is subject to the spell - Blast Glyph, 12d6 damage, Fort save DC 22 halves (I don't have my book on me, so I'll double check the stats tonight)]

He then moves to inform the pack what he's learned.

"Domi says Gargul is in trouble," he reports grimly. "One Eye can't reach his priests, but I don't know exactly why. He also says we have the means to help, but I don't what that means is...sunbaked yes/no questions....<sigh>...I also found out that neither Gargul nor Domi, nor any of the Gods of Testing oppose the Child aborning. Which leaves one of the other Noble Gods, and of that list I'd eliminate Alemi right off. Which leaves...I dunno...Pantheon maybe?"

The blond cleric shakes his head, and moves on.

"Anyway, Domi says there will be no attack on OddHolme for at least a week. So I guess we got some time to get ready."

The next morning, however, Trellus stumbles out of his quarters wet with sweat and very tired looking.

"Whatever is coming is gonna hit the Portal Wheel tonight," he reports. "Everyone warp up for a nasty fight. We gotta go back there in a few hours."

With that, the blond man returns to his room to study spells.

"EEP!!" Tishe' is startled at Trellus' drastic appearance, pronouncement, and return to his inner rooms. She glances over at Flea and shares a look of helpless resignation. "Well, at least I haven't begun my meditations with Mother and my spellbooks today", she says with cheerful rationalization.

With that, she moves outside Oddholme to better get her feet into the sand and among the 'Grasses to meditate on her spells.

Once done, she goes back to thinking of some more permenant alarms and defenses of the Portal room.

Confused by Trellus's statement, Olaf nonetheless prepares for an upcoming battle, testing the still-makeshift alarms he's been working on, and then, going close to the portal, he meditates to Celsiun for guidance and spells. Perhaps this close Celsiun can answer his call in deeper way than the near-silence of the plains.

Gilan spends the day in solitude, brewing his potions and tendind to his garden. The quiet time however also makes his thoughts linger to his lost companion... Ciaran... Gilan can only hope he now played in the Gardens of Maab and Eberyon. (ooc : out of curiosity - when did Ciaran die?)

Flea knows when things are wrong. She does not like the fact that the spellcasters are soo on edge and most certainly not when Trellus too is puzzled by this all.

Even though Trellus managed to stay quite calm earlier and installed a few safeties around the Oddholme Portal he's not this calm anymore the next morning!
Soaking wet he emerges from his room with quite clear answers to all...

"Whatever is coming is gonna hit the Portal Wheel tonight," he reports. "Everyone warp up for a nasty fight. We gotta go back there in a few hours."

And with that everything that is to be said is said... whatever is coming is coming tonight!

Yanosh wonders if Gargul will still be around for him to cast his spells. With the apparent absense of the God will his spells work?!?

When hearing Trellus, Tishe' at first panicks. Luckily her wits return quickly and the spellcaster goes out into the plains to prepare her spells.

Olaf too is confused at Trellus's words but never the less prepares for this imminent battle... whatever it is and from wherever it will come... Olaf will be ready and with Chelsiun at his side he feels confident.

Vayine spends some time with his brother going over the best tactics to defend Oddholme.

Gry quietly awaits his orders. If he can help his God he will most certainly do so... when he's needed he will be ready!

ooc : what preparations are you making? When will you enter the Portal Complex? How long do you dare to wait? Any purchases that have been/are being made in the Cats are assumed to have been delivered - I know I know I'm far too lenient...

Gilan was up early the next morning like usual, but this time he is stopped by the appearance of Trellus before he goes about his morning prayers. As he listens he feels a thrill run through his body, but he clamps down on it real fast. There were others that needed to be taken care of, Father and Mother would not be happy if he let his pack down.

With that thought in mind, he slips outside and as he faces the direction of the rising sun, he begins his song to nature. As he does this he sends out his thoughts to the spells that he would be needed and let his parents fill their song into his head. As he is heading back he stops near Tishe' but waits for her to finish her own prayers. "You could join me some morning if you want. It would be nice to have company singing to Father and Mother in the morning." There is a pained look upon his face and you can only guess why, Ciaran use to sing with him every morning and he was no longer there.

With some time still to himself he slipped into the portal room and looked around taking a few brief notes in his own head. With a smile he started about his own work. Taking out a pair of large pieced of rope, each twenty feet long, that he lays out on the floor. The first he places near the entrance to the portal itself, leaving it wide so that it will catch as many as possible. The next he moves closer to the entrance, though he leaves enough room for people to slip around it if needed. With both in place he casts what might be to some a weird spell, but it would have a nice effect if it was triggered and if anyone came through the portal...they would have little chance of spoting it first.

Not wanting his pack to be caught in the trap, he makes it a point to find each and let them know what he has done. They can still get to the portal and go through if they want without triggering the trap, that was something that he had wanted to make sure of.

Flea makes sure all her weapons and other gear are in tip top shape and neatly ranged where she can access them: swords and hammer hanging from her belt, wands tucked behind the distinctive crimson sash wrapped 'round her waist. Rings on fingers, potions in pouches, other geat stowed within easy reach in pockets, pouches, and HHHaversack.

Nervously she fingers the strange totem collected off the naga and the yuan-ti abomination, and the rogue decides to seek out Tishe', approaching the woman when she seems finished with her meditation.

"You figure we should whip up a couple of personal totems like we did last time in order to get back and forth through the portal?" Flea grinds a freshly polished toe of a magical boot into the Oddholme dust. "I wouldn't want to get stuck in some other place, and not able to get back to the Sargrass, you know?"

If Tishe' thinks it worth the time and effort, Flea will collect a small personal momento from each of the Bloodpack and using other bits and bobs, including grass from the plains, and small pebbles from Oddholme (that she'll ask Yanosh to pierce a hole through) to fashion personal totems using weaving techniques she's picked up from Tishe'.

Trellus spends an hour in his quarters before emerging. Physically, he looks a lot better. The hour he spends each day praying always seems to refresh the young man.

He finds Flea and thanks her for appraising the spell components.
"This could come in very handy", he tells her.

Then he gathers up the pack.
"Let's get our tokens created and get over there," he says. "I wanna get there ahead of the treadles this time."

If there are no objections, he casts his standard protective spells on himself, and leads the pack through the Portal.

Tishe' pulls her brown-wavy hair away from her face and takes a lingering look at Gilan, the consideration in her eyes reviewing all they have been through as packmates. Pain and triumphs. The loss of friends, animal companions, innocence. And she... smiles. "Yes. I think that would be a nice affirmation to Mother and Father."

Once inside, Tishe' readily agrees to weave the tokens for everyone. "They last less than a day, so if we're to go through the Portal again, we need to have new ones." (Weaving, taking 10 to make eight tokens.)

LOOT: Tishe' puts her hat out for the Periapt of Wisdom+4. "It will enhance my spells wonderfully", she says.

Going to her rooms, she places about her quarters the small items she recieved in the Giggling Ghost this Yule, and then collects her new Wand of Cure Light Wounds delivered from the Catacombs.

By noon, Tishe' is in the Common arena, idly weaving pieces of Sargrass together and waiting for the others to arrive for thier assault on the Portal system once more. "I took some cure spells and protection spells to secure the pack's threads", she tells Trellus, and lists her spells for everyone to hear.

OOC: did Vayine have time to heal, and pray for spells while preparing for the coming siege?

Vayine spends his time amoung his companions, discussing tactics, attacka nd defense plans and his part in the coming attack. knowing that his sword will be needed more then his bow he sharpens shining enchanted blade and goes over the spells he was granted.

DO any of us have any clue what sort of fiends will be coming for us? we've encountered many of the dead, but we have also encounted changed creatures as well.

Olaf finishes preparing his spells, then begins to fidget in the portal room, still wracking his brain as to who or what they may be up against.

When the time comes to examine the goods, Olaf shies away from the rod--he is struck by the evil of the device. "That's one we should be gettin' rid o'"

After, while still fidgeting, his works his way over to Tishe', and starts to build a small, more permanent device to represent him going through the portal. He works on a small device: a trip wire looped about a small diamond [craft: trapmaking, take 10: 18]

Nodding his head as Tishe' answers him he smiles for once since they have been reunited as a pack again. "To be honest, I could use the company." You get the idea that he would like to say more but that he is also uncertain of his feelings. With the arrival of Flea he feels better as well. He had taken her in when she came to Rattledam and he still felt like she was a little sister to him. She was pack and family at the same time, something that he found he had been yearning for more lately.

Gilan meets up with the others and pulls out the carving that he had made earlier for their first transition through the portal. "Will the old ones still work if we reattune them?" He had made his at least permanent, unless somehow they would be consumed in the use of the portal to get back home...or if not used before the time runs out. "It might be better to make a permanent totem anyways." Doubting that his suggestion was really needed, it would in the longrun save them some time.

Having seen Trellus and heard his warnings, Gilan slips out of the dome like every other morning only this time his praying to the Mother and the Father are to prepare for his next assignment...

As he heads back into the Dome he stops near Tishe' who moved outside Oddholme too to get her feet into the sand and among the Grasses to meditate on her spells. Now he no longer has Ciaran to chant with him, it would be nice to have a companion to meditate with. Tishe' takes a lingering look at Gilan and smiles... they have been though so much as Packmates that it would indeed be a nice affirmation to Mother and Father.

Flea spends most of her time arranging her gear and other stuff. Wondering if it would be worth the time and the effort to weaving a sort of personal totems for each of the Pack Flea waits for Tishe' to finish her meditation. It would require some time though to make these personal totems and there's no certainty this time is available... Never the less, Tishe' agrees to make the 8 tokens for everyone.

After his warnings Trellus spends an hour in his quarters before emerging back again. He looks a lot better and took the time he needed to meditate. Ready now, he asks for the tokens to be prepared for he wants to reach the portal before the others this time...

Yanosh too spends his morning getting ready. Prayer and meditation, stretching and weapon practice... This time he also wields an Axe which seems a new shimmer as if blessed by the Gods themselves.

By noon, Tishe' too is ready and waiting in the common area of Oddholme...

Healed Vayine found plenty of time to pray for his new spells and spends time among his companions discussing tactics knowing it will take more than just steel to get this over with. But... DO they have a clue of what sorts of fiends they will encounter?!?

Olaf too spends time preparing his spells and wrecking his brain as to who or what they may be up against. He knows they can't hold on to the Rod of the Viper and then follows the examples of Gilan and Trellus. The portal in Oddholme now has several protective spells and devices in place... No one will go through now unnoticed!

Greater Glyph of Warding: a 60sq ft area centered around the portal. Any individual of Evil alignment entering that area is subject to the spell -- Blast Glyph, 12d6 damage, Fort save DC22 for half.

2 Snare spells cast upon two 20ft long ropes. One near the entrance of the portal itself, the next one closer to the entrance to the room leaving enough space for his friends to enter safely.

Trip wire looped about a small diamond: craft trapmaking take 10:18

Wondering if they really need to make new tokens for the trip through the portal Flea quickly dismisses Gilan's thoughts claiming they appeared to be one trip tokens.


So the Pack prepares and is about ready to go...

Assembling near the Oddholme Portal they wonder what it is they will find over there... what can mere mortals do to protect deities?!?

Noon...

"They come tonight" still rings in their ears. Tonight should leave them plenty of time to get to the central portal and prepare... no?...

"Let's go in now," Trellus responds to the various questions. "Assuming nothing is waiting to meet us on the other side, we'll weave back to the central chamber and see if Olaf, Tishe, and Gilan can learn any more picks from those weavers."

"After that," Trellus shrugs. "Well, I'm not sure. Sealing our Portal is a good idea, but how to check on all the others?" The blond man shrugs again. "Let's stick with the center, and hope we get some good information."

Trellus leads the group through the portal.

[ooc: the device Olaf was working on was a personal "totem," used to represent himself when going through the portal. The traps and alarms he's been working on in the prior week of IG time and the past day are also tripwires and pressure plates, designed to produce a loud clamor if anything enters the area, and another clamor if anything leaves the first chamber (where the portal is) and heads to any exterior area.]

Olaf grunts in agreement with Trellus, hefts his haversack, and enters the portal after Trellus. He fingers the plain-worked sickle at his side, a slight nervous moisture glistening on his brow.

Gilan shrugs as he gets an answer from Flea and waits to see what the next move would be anyways. He is also not sure which portal they need to be at or protect. "So we wait at the central portal area where we gained the information from the gods." It sounded like the best idea that he had heard so far and then looked to Tishe' to see if she was ready. After all, she was the one that had been working on the new totems.

Nodding his head. "We might just get more information from Mother and Father...though if they are embattled as Gargul is." He simply shrugs his shoulders as he has a feeling that something even larger is happening than they realize. When the group is ready to move out, he follows them to the portal room, but takes the time to point out exactly were he set up his snare traps.

Grymash finally appears from his room of solitude. He's not himself. Grouchier than normal. Speaking only in nods and grunts. He also looks disheveled and unkept. He's unshaven and dirty, still covered in ash. The closer he comes to his pack, they become assaulted by a foul stench of body odor. The smell completely shielding the "blood" smell Grymash used to have. He looks a mess, but appears ready for .. oh, whatever. He doesn't seem to be all that focused.

Flea stands ready near the portal and awaits a 'GO' to return to the Portal Complex.
Tishe' also prefers to go now as it would be excellent for setting up an ambush... only which of the portals should they guard?!? The Oddholme one? The one in the centre?
To tackle this Vayine suggest to put alarms on all portals, block Oddholme's with a wall and await their fiends near the central portal.
But what about the Champions?!? Will they recognize them?

Trellus decides to wait near the central portal. He feels blocking the Oddholme portal is a good idea but how would they be able to check on all the others. Sticking to the centre is probably best. Who knows... the Powers there might reveal something more to them!
Olaf grunts in agreement and stands ready to join the group.
Gilan too agrees with the leader of the Pack and hopes they will learn something more from Mother and Father.
Hearing Trellus's decision Flea grins at Yanosh making a whispered comment.
Then she stands ready to follow Trellus through the portal.

Just when they are all ready to go through the Portal they catch an unpleasant odor that makes their noses wrinkle... Grymash comes trotting though the corridors towards the Portal... He looks a mess!! Unshaven, dirty, covered in ash... hmmm... he doesn't seem to be very focused at the moment but let's hope he will be once they get to the portal and meet who or whatever it is they are to meet...

Then Trellus steps through the portal... followed by the entire Bloodpack.

Only a split second later the Pack arrives in the familiar looking room... the corridor up ahead is dark and uninviting... yet that's the way they will have to go...

Tishe' eagerly waits for her turn to go through the Portal and then once more stands in the chamber of the Circle Between Portals. Her eyes pick up minute changes, but the noise of her voice and her packmates conceals anything from her ears. (Spot: 28, Listen: nat 1) Wart, her desert toad familiar, crawls out of his nest in her satchel and helps in the looking. (Aid Another Spot: 14, Aid Another Listen: 12)

She thinks of the dawn over the Sargrass as she casts a Light spell onto her staff, shadowy illuminating 40 feet away. "Just in case the lights don't work in the corridors", she explains.

And then a few more spells to be prepared, and she is ready to follow the Bloodpack to the central chamber.

Wordlessly, Trellus lays a supporting hand on Grymash's shoulder. The blond man remembers all too well the time Domi died. The big half-orc was a true packmate during those horrible days, and Trellus has every intention to return the kindness.

"We'll fix it," he says softly.

The pack goes through the Portal, and he looks about. Nodding as Tishe casts her light, he adds, "Gil, see if you can fly ahead, just in case someone is looking for our light.

Trellus waits for Gilan, then Flea and Olaf and Gry, before moving himself.

Gilan stops just before slipping through the portal himself to cast a single spell upon himself, augmenting it through his extend rod. Then he is through the portal and out the other side. He had glanced to Grymash and felt for the large man, that he called brother. This disconnection from Gargul must be playing hard upon him and he did not know what to say or do...so he left that to Trellus.

Letting his eyes and ears open to his surroundings now, he slips the shield from his back to sit lightly on his arm. His eyes take in the othes and he swallows hard as things are going to get delicate. He would not lose anyone else, he would make it a point to see to that...though at this time he did not know what he could do about it. Shaking away his dark thoughts he tries to turn his attention to the things that set ahead of them.

Olaf emits a soft chuckle at Flea's quick motions to the front, happy to be back in action and not cooling his heels. Moving forward himself, sickle at the ready, he mentions softly to Flea, "I'm thinkin' this times gonna be rougher." He keeps his eyes and ears tuned [spot 8, listen 18], and also inspects the ground and walls for new devices that may be waiting for them [search 33 (nat 20)].

Once Trellus has gone, Vayine is the first to follow him. Readying his silver blade he stands ready to attack or defend... Commenting to his friends that it is the Gods who are calling them to fight the drow appears eager to get down to business.

Tishe' follows close behind Vayine. Taking in all details of the Portal Chamber it appears as though everything is exactly how they left it. A simple light spell offers some shadowy illumination just in case the lights don't work... While the mage waits for all her companions to arrive she prepares some more spells.

Laying a supporting hand on Grymash Trellus assures the brute and smelly half-orc that the Pack will fix all this. Knowing how Gry supported him when Domi died now he in turn is offering the same support for his friend. They'll help Gargul no matter what!

Nodding to Tishe' the Bloodpack leader then asks Gilan to fly ahead just in case someone is looking for their light.

Once Flea's through the portal as well she manoeuvre in front of the Pack? After all she IS the scout! Peering through the darkness the Gnome spots nothing neither does she hear something beside the noise the Pack makes... she can almost hear the noise resonating through the Portal Complex!

Pleased to see Trellus taking care of Grymash, Gilan keeps his eyes and ears open to his surroundings. The shifter probably did not catch Trellus request to fly ahead of the Pack as he is fixed on not letting anyone die... he's ready to battle and will do whatever it takes to protect his family.

Last but not least Yanosh and Olaf step away from the Portal. Holy Dwarveb War Axe in hand, Yanosh peers into the dark but like Flea he spots nothing. Olaf chuckles as he notices Flea's quick tumbling to get in front of the group.

"This time's gonna be rougher..." Olaf comments as the Pack all look down the dark spoke... knowing the complex is reassuring somehow. They know the way...

Then the Pack begins to move down the corridor...

"No change since we've been here last", reports the inquisitive woman. "If we only had time to really study this place! Ah well, once this pick is over I can get down to some serious weaving on these walls..."

Wart croaks and brings Tishe's mind back on the reason they are here. With a smile for her amphibian friend, the plain-faced woman waits until everyone except Vayine is past her before taking her normal place in line. She tries to keep her eyes and ears open, but the Light from her staff interferes with anything she can see (Spot: 16, Listen: 27)

Gilan snaps out of his funk as it finally sinks in as to what Trellus asked him. With a slight blush he glances to Trellus and nods his head. "Sorry about that...preoccupied." With that his form slips into that of a large bat that takes off down the hallway. He stays near the middle of the hall but near the ceiling so that he can get a good look at everything in front of him.

With his enhanced senses, he can see and hear at least some of the others as they move beneath him.

All of the Bloodpack are on edge... Tishe' spots no immediate changes compared to last time they were here.

Gilan blushes once he realizes he has missed Trellus's request, but then does as asked. Changing into a large bat, the shifter begins to flutter through the spoke. Like before the Glyphs are not illuminating his path.

The rest of the Pack lingers at the spoke entrance but then slowly begins to make its way towards the center. As they go the Glyphs begin to glow.

Like Tishe' said... everything appears to be just like before.

The rogue thinks twice about sending any dancing lights down the dark path-way. Not with the druid down there already. Creeping steadily in front of her comrades, Flea scouts the way squinting into the dark .

Gilan, in bat form, continues to fly ahead of the group to do his part in the scouting job. It is surprising that he had not thought of it before but there is no way to hide a hidden passage or illusioned passage from this form. After all, he did not rely upon his eyes as much as the echolocation that all bats have. He did not stay more than fifteen feet ahead of Flea though as he did not want to get caught too far ahead of the group.

He continued to use all his senses as he moved along though so that he could give the pack a warning if he ran into anything. Though he was getting a little caught up in his animal form to be paying attention to everything.

Trellus keeps an 'eye' on Gilan, checking in on his friend's general condition through the link the Status spell has given them. Like Tishe said, everything seems the same.

"Let's hit the center room then," the blond man instructs. He figures the group will take the same line up as before - Gilan ahead, with Flea and Olaf scouting some distance behind. Gry and Yanosh behind them, followed by himself and Tishe, and Vayine watching their backs.

Once Gilan is ahead of the group Trellus instructs the Pack to move towards the central chamber as that is where the Bloodpack believes everything will go down.

As the group begins to walk through the corridor the Glyphs begin to glow and illuminate their path. Gilan, who is about 15ft in front of Flea, can sense the effect of the lightsource behind for he now is nice black spot for any that are watching at the other end of the tunnel...

Tishe' quietly follows behind mentally preparing what she will be saying to the Powers.
Flea cautions Gilan as he goes and then she herself takes the lead of the group on the ground.
Yanosh follows as quietly as he can while inside he can allready feel the thrill of combat and starts to hum to himself...
Vayine takes comfort in his position as the rear guard of the Bloodpack. Few would actually trust a Drow to watch their backs, but here with the Pack there are no such thoughts.
Grymash too falls into place as they go but finds difficulty to keep the ash out of his eyes...

Slowly and cautiously the Bloodpack advances towards the Central Portal Camber... with the light of the Glyphs illuminating their path...

The first crossing... leaving the corridors to the right and left unattended the Pack goes straight forward to the center. Gilan ahead...

After several minutes Gilan is the first to spot a very bright light at the end of the tunnel! That must be the Portal Chamber... but that light appears to be soo much brighter than before! Why?!

Steadily the Pack moves on and finds they are back in the chamber... the depression in the center glows much brighter than last time they were here... but other than that, there are no clear changes and everything remains silent... The light in the center is soo bright that you can't bear to watch it very long and if you do a purple spot remains on your retina for a few seconds...

All is quiet... all is peaceful...?!?

"Ahh!" cries Flea at the sudden brightness of the light after the dark tunnel. Having taken her sword into her hand, she brings up her off-hand and uses it to shade her eyes. Squinting through parted fingers she glances around the bright room to see if there are any besides the Bloodpack.

Giving Trellus a look of trepidation, Tishe' moves towards the bright lights at the center depression. She stops and turns. "You know, there may be more Powers here than Ebyron, Ma'ab, and Celisiun. Could you contact Domi through this conduit?"

Nevertheless, Tishe' doesn't wait for a response from the cleric, but turns, squinting into the bright light.

"Mother Wold, Father Life, the Bloodpack have returned." She thinks to herself that she stated the obvious, but doesn't want to miss anything with these very, very powerful beings. "The way is safe, the way is clear. We will keep it clear for the champions."

The light is extremely bright, so much so that it disorients Gilan for a few seconds and he flies up to the ceiling to get a better look around. He hopes to also find a spot that is a little darker so that he does not have to feel the slight pain of the bright lights.

Once he finds a place to settle he feels that he must do something else, so he sends his thoughts out to the brighter light in the center of the room. He had not thought to do this before and berrates himself for losing the chance to talk to Mother and Father. "Father and Mother...we are here to do our part. Is the time pressing already or do we still have some time?" He is hoping to find out that they still have some time before they need to set thier sights upon defense. It might give them a little more planning time, though they will have to be careful what groundwork they lay.

Gilan is the first to enter the Central Room, the bright light hurting his bat eyes he goes looking for a darker spot. Flea too is amazed at the light wondering what is going one. Startled by the brightness of the central portal the Trellus believes the child aborning to here.
He guesses more powers are concentrated here and advizes his friends to say hello.
Olaf protects his eyes from the brightness and awaits what will happen.

Tishe' and Gilan offer the Bloodpack's service to Mother and Father...

The warrior in him rises as the cleric seems to be indoubt. Yanosh states grimly, "The complex is a wheel. The portal rooms are as spokes to that wheel. If we can set alarms and traps at the base of the spokes then we will gain the needed time to prepare spells. But not all creatures may set off the traps and mundane alarms."

The Dwarf looks around the room thinking how it can be defended. With a thought Yanosh asks Tishe' "The Wheel crosses the way back to OddHolme from here Can you block it on both sides? It will cause what ever to come to us through here. And nothing to get behind us and sneek into our home."

With the sensitivity of his eyes he is glad to find a slightly darker place to perch. He listens with the rest as the voice booms to them and he cannot help but shiver. Without another thought he takes to the air to wing down and land upon the shoulder of Trellus, which makes for a funny sight as bats are not meant to stand. Or maybe it is just the fact that a bat of about a foot in length is purchased upon the cleric's shoulder. "What if those we are to protect come down one of these tunnels to us?" His voice is slightly higher pitch and could still be hard on ears, but his concerns are valid as he is not sure if this is a portal. Were they not to protect those that were to protect the aborning child.

His head is tilted slightly to the side as he looks to Trellus, a somewhat apologetic look upon his rodent face at the state of his voice.

Everyone heard the word to prepare yet hope more details will be given. Trellus voices their thoughts by asking who what where questions... Vayine awaits the answers of the Powers but no answers are given...

Grumbling about the Powers silence and vague orders Trellus decides this Central Portal is the place to protect. Knowing the Pack should hold on to spells untill they are alerted about the presence of the fiends he asks for advice from the sneaky types... how to alert them when something has entered the Portal Complex.

The Warrior in Yanosh rizes and suggest to create traps or alarms at the base of every spoke. This complex is nothing but a giant wheel so it could be feasible - if there is enough time.

Tishe' and Gilan both voice their thoughts and concerns while Olaf installs trip wires near every entrance to the Central Chamber...

Grunting about the bright light Grymash is puzzled at the orders to prepare... who? What? Where? From what?

After the wait where Tishe' tries to maintain an alert calmness over herself and Wart, there comes

And VOICES THEY ARE HERE!!

Standing in the suddenly much smaller illumination of her Light spell, Tishe' stands and looks around. "They are here? Where are they?" And sudden insight. "They must be coming from a secondary Portal, and we need to keep the OddHolme Portal safe. WE ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE!"

Nevertheless, Tishe' keeps a bit of her head and doesn't run off. Instead, she follows Trellus' lead and also starts sending out spells of protection for her packmates.

Daylight blazes from her Staff of Ice, enabling everyone to see 120 feet in all directions.

Cat's Grace is placed on herself.

Stoneskin is placed on Vayine. "May Ma'abs protection keep you safe, sweetie", she tells the black elf.

Gilan gives a bat smile to Trellus and chuckles, though it comes out more as a high pitched shriek and then there was more light. At least this time it is not as bright as before and does not sting his eyes.

As the others start to prepare themselves for combat, Gilan does the same. Leaving Trellus's shoulder he moves around to land on first Olaf's and then Grymash's shoulders in turn. At each one he casts a simple spell on each, toughening their skin and turning it slightly barky. As he settles in at the ceiling he casts on last spell upon himself with some satisfaction.

Darkness, drums, panicked voices from the powers......

"Shady" Trellus growls and he immediately begins to casting several spells on himself and his companions.

Tishe' panicks since they can't see anyone! "WE ARE IN THE WRONG PLACE!!!" she shouts. Not running off yet she follows Trellus's example by casting a few spells.

Smiling to Trellus Gilan bat follows suit and cast a series of other spells on himself and his friends... by now the Pack has received some serious boosts!! Whatever will be attacking this portal will have a warm welcome!

Flea allows the spells to wash over her before activating her ring of Blinking... then she blinks in and out of existence and readies her Holy sward and most preferred wand.

Olaf too is pleased with all protective spells and adds a few of his own...

Yanosh too adds some extra spells to himself and then asks for the Blessing of Gargul for himself and his Pack. As he casts the Bear's Endurance he awaits the magic affecting his vitality and stamina but... he feels nothing... his spell has failed! When asking for the Blessing of his Pack Yanosh feels no effect either... has Gargul really abandoned him?!?

The drums continue for almost 5 minutes... your hearts race faster and faster as the sound comes closer... it comes from every spoke from the Portal Complex...

Then suddenly on the opposite side of the Oddholme Entrance you can see movement!!

The waiting is agonizing and just as he is about to make a little circuit of the room, the enemy arrives. Baring his bat fangs from his spot on the ceiling he tries to gauge his place in this combat. If the enemy is dumb enough to come too far into the room and in some numbers, he knows exactly what he is going to do and how.

With that thought in mind he moves to place himself almost right in front of the way the enemy will be coming in. Now, it is all down to a waiting game again and this time he does not have to be bothered...the adrenaline rush is enough to keep him giddy with anticipation.

Grymash notices something strange about the magical energies he attempted to tap. (percentage roll 70%, fail) His connection with his lord is still too weak. His spell blinks out of existence. It both saddens and angers him. "Whooz be doin' dis?" The disgruntled half-orc takes up his position as directed to him. He is anxious find out who is doing this ... and remove their head!! "FINE ... PLAY DA DRUMS ... LET GARGUL KNOWS YOOZ SOON BE COMIN'!!"

5 minutes waiting is a long time... Trellus somehow feels content the enemy has finally arrived... He orders Gry, Yanosh and Vayine to move up the hallway and block the entrance while he advises Tishe' to summon some extra help.

Tishe' too feels 5 minutes take too long... she casts a simple spell so she can easily communicate with Gilan. Then once the enemy has arrived she nods to Trellus and begins the complex casting to bring forth her celestial assistants...

Olaf grins when Tishe' gives a sigh of relief that they are indeed in the right place. Then he cuts forward preparing to flank those who break through the first line of defense...

Vayine too acknowledges Trellus command and dashes forward (ooc please give me a location of your position -- thanks) and tries to identify what is coming towards them...

Waiting while listening to the rhythmic drums is agonizing for Gilan... and just as he is about to make a scenery tour of the Portal Chamber the enemy arrives... Rather than engaging right away he positions himself almost right in front of the way the enemy will be coming... now it's a waiting game...

Flea sweeps to the opposite side from Olag with a similar idea in her head... whatever comes through the corridor will have a warm welcome! She tries to discern clues that will help her identifying the enemy.

Gry is the first to detect the strange things that happen with the spells he casts. Only this time he does not fail (ooc : 50% chance of failure so everything above 50 is success no? Never know which way is success :-) If this is wrong that the three spells cast earlier by Gry and Yanosh all succeeded!)
Scowling at those who block his link with Gargul he readies himself!

Yanosh is numbed at the sight of the enemy and the trouble of casting spells...

While the Bloodpack prepares the horde of enemies steadily continue their pace. Not trying to hide nor take actions against the Pack they just simply head for the Portal Chamber... Flea hears no speech but she can hear filthy squishy noises as the hoard approaches...

Gry and Vayine stand side by side as they watch the army approaching... They can at least spot 10 enemies approaching but by the sound of their feet it seems as though there are a lot more...

The shrunken and disfigured humanoid carcasses move at the sound of drums. The details of its shape are blurred beneath a coating of filth and grave dirt...

Tishe' finishes her casting and places 5 Wolves directly in front of the first rank of undead. (appearing BA,34 to BB,35) "Attack!" she calls to her summoned friends, "Take each of them down!" And the wolves charge.

Driving her hand into her Sargrass Pants 'o Plenty Tishe' then comes up with her Bag of Tricks (move action). Throwing the little fuzzy ball in the fray (also at BB 35), the magic rapidly grows into a Brown Bear (d%: 22) that also focues on a single enemy to destroy.

"Let's see how they react to the bounty of Ma'ab!", Tishe' declares, her brown eyes flashing.

The wolves leap on the front four of the front undead (at BJ,35, BJ,37, BI,38, BI,37, BI,36), two certain to connect and pull thier quarry to the stones below.

Gilan continues to hold his position above the entrance the undead will take to come in. He is not sure what the others are planning to do, but some will not be much good if the undead do not get into the room...at least a little ways.

He watches as the wolves and bear charge forward but soon looses them as they pass beyond an area that he can see from. As he continues to wait he allows the others to take their own toll upon the enemy.

Yanosh shakes his head in frustration as he rushes forward to help his friends. War axe ready he taunts those that approach.

His thoughts confirmed Trellus asks Tishe' to send her summoned creatures into the Undead horde so they can learn how twisted they are.

Vayine stands next to the Half-Orc readying himself and Gry to give those fools a taste of Blade and Axe...

Tishe' finishes her casting and 5 wolves come into existence. The mage immediately sends them all into battle!! Additionally she throws a little fuzzy ball into the fray... a Brown Bear with a craving for undead.

Olaf looks in sho²k at the violence Tishe' exhibits... he shrugs and awaits the creatures spawning into the Portal Chamber.

Flea continues to blink in and out of existence and positions herself so she can see something of the battle without being seen... even without hiding the undead would not spot her! There are plenty of Wolves to deal with first!

Gilan holds his position above the entrance... listening to the battle that takes place inside the tunnel... he would prefer the battle was elsewhere...

All wolves dash forward attacking the Undead.

Wolf 1 aims for #3 but must take an AoO from #1!! He yelps in agonizing pain as the creatures slams a fist into the Wolf! (hits AC18 -- Damage 13). Luckily the Wolf manages to bite #3 but his bite was less successful than expected... The creature makes a good effort but is still tripped (trip check 25vs26 - failed)

Wolf 2 rushes headlong in to the front ranks and with all his packmates behind him he is pushed into #4 exposing him to an AoO from #2... luckily #2 fails his attack (hits AC13).

Wolf 3 throws himself upon #1 but fails to connect.

Wolf 4 too snaps at #1 and succeeds in biting the undead freak! Again less damage is delivered and this time the Wolf fails to trip the creature (trip check 18vs17)... Wolf 4 makes a Reflex save DC18 or be prone (also fails on a roll of 1, 2 or 3).

Wolf 5 aims for #2 but fails to connect...

Then the Brown Bear comes in roaring madly and he as well lashes out at #1. One Claw and his bite miss gruesomely but he still manages to connect with his second Claw! Somewhat less damage but still a decent blow. Additionally the Brown Bear tries to pull the undead closer for a deadly embrace but impressively the creature manages to break the Bear's grapple! (grapple check 21vs19)

The Undead Horde roars as one as the Wolves begin their attack. Never the less, the Wolves don't seem to be able to stop their mindless assault for the Portal Chamber...
Blocked by the Wolves the Undead begin bashing their way through...

#1 slams his fist into the Brown Bear who apparently holds the toughest punch but fails to slam through the thick hide of the bear (hits AC15)

#2 mindlessly strikes the wolf 5 right in front of him nearly smiting the animal with one single blow... (hits AC16 -- damage 14)

#3 tries to get up (move action and enabling Wolf 1) to make an AoO... once he's up he slams into Wolf 1 on his turn (hits AC21 -- damage 14)... already badly hit when he launched himself into the undead army the summoned Wolf fades out of existence and returns to the peaceful lands he came from...

#4 hits the Wolf 2 in front of him (hits AC27 -- damage 11)

#5 steps forward and in front of #3 where Wolf 1 stood moments ago. He lunges himself into the Brown Bear (hit AC18 -- damage 13)

#6 moves closer and smashes into Wolf 2 (hits AC29 -- damage 12) sending the wolf back where he came from!!

#7 also moves closes until he faces Wolf 4... roaring madly he slams into the poor animal bashing on the it's head loosening at least a few fangs... (hits AC24 -- damage 14)

Undead #8, #9 and #10 are simply continuing their march and seem to hold the line...

Those of you who are peering down the corridor suddenly see something large following the sickening undead creatures...

"Treadles aren't as hurt as they should be," he notes. "You dudes are gonna want holy or magical weapons, if you got 'em."

A quick word, and the cleric rises into the air, and flies over Grymash to the tunnel entrance.
"Hold fast, I'm gonna try the power of Domi on this bunch," he tells the others.

ooc: The wolf should be safe from a return trip attack, unless this is a special attack of the undead. "Trip (Ex): A wolf that hits with a bite attack can attempt to trip the opponent (+1 check modifier) as a free action without making a touch attack or provoking an attack of opportunity. If the attempt fails, the opponent cannot react to trip the wolf."

Wolf #4 falls prone.

Tishe' winces in sympathy for her animal friends, finding solace in the fact that they are not really dead from the battle...

"They are faster than normal zombies also", she notes, "usually those undead are too slow to react fast in battle. And they are extremely well organized..."

The wolves continue the assault, taking small steps to concentrate on the wounded one in the herd of undead, seeking to bring it down, slashing with sharp teeth.

Flea repositions in order to get a better view, then targets the enemy with her wand. She pauses momentarily at Trellus' command, but assumes a little magic wouldn't hurt! She is careful with her aim, not wanting to hurt the animal allies brought about by Tishe's magic. Though she manages to activate the wand (UMD=32) the magic that causes her to faze in and out of her environment results in the charge ending up somewhere entirely other than the the chamber of horrors inhabited by the undead army! Grymash attempts another spell while he waits for the onslaught. Shouting his words of magik in a furious tone, Grymash calls forth the image of his masters weapon ... "SOUL CLEAVER!"

(percentage roll 35, which may or may not work. I believe you roll under the number. Because if it was a 75% chance, it would be easier to roll under 75, not the other way.)

If the mighty war axe of Gargul appears, it will take up a position behind the large figure in the back (11) and attack. (HitAC 20, for a lousy 2 points of damage. I didn't say it was the ACTUAL soul cleaver!!)

Yanosh prays to his absent God to make his next spell work yet he seems to be abandoned yet again... He can only wait for the army to breach the defences and hums with the drum beats.

Trellus watches how the wolves and bear are succeeding their assault on the undead front horde... he realizes they'll need more than just steel to get it done... Activating his boots of Flying he rises into the air and tries to see how many more are coming down the tunnel... Trellus can at least spot 3 more Hulking Corpses than are walking single file... they are too large to see if anything else is coming... Line of sight up to the first Hulking Corpse is free.

Tishe' winces in sympathy for her animal friends as she sees these creatures are a lot faster than zombies and much better organized... there's probably a master mind behind all this... Her Wolves continue to attack as is the bear. (not tripped indeed) Tishe' herself takes her Rod of extend and prepares another complicated spell.

Flee takes a peek down the tunnel and sees the Wolves engaged with some horrifying undead creatures... Figuring a small spell couldn't hurt whatever it is Trellus is preparing she tries to send a few Magic Missiles into the undead yet she fails miserably...

Gialn works on another thought and tries to remember what type of stone the tunnels were made of... natural or man worked... too bad for him this tunnel complex must have been created by some race eons ago... whether they were human or something else he can't tell because of the apparent age of this complex. There's little he can do but wait...

Vayine taunts the enemy some more and hopes to cast a blessing on all his friends. This time his spell works!! (miss chance 50% - above 50 works -- rolled 73 -- everyone's blessed)

Grymash too tries to cast another spell but again he fails (ooc could be wrong but I started using every roll below 50 was a failure so for the remainder of this battle I will do it this way -- spiritual weapon failed)

The Brown Bear roars madly and hopes to end at least #5's undead live... One of his claws tear away rotted flesh leaving a gaping hole behind... feeling his claw connecting he succeeds to pull the Undead closer for a deadly embrace (Grapple 16vs23 -- fail -- grappled). One he has pulled the undead closer he bites down tasting the sickening rotted flesh of the beast...

The Undead feel bothered by the pesky wolves in front of them and continue to bash their way through to reach the Portal.

#1 engages Wolf 3 and destroys the Wolf (hits AC21 -- damage 10).

#2 knocks down Wolf 5 with another terrible blow (hits AC23 -- damage 15)

#7 bashes on Wolf 4 's head (hits AC30 NAT 20 -- damage 12)

Having cleared the path the Undead creatures return to their quest and steadily march on to the Portal Chamber... They have not even increased their pace... it's still maddening accurate to the sound of the drums...

The hulking corpses follow the ranks as well...

#11 comes close to the Brow bear and since he just happens to be close he decides engage the poor bear in his deadly embrace... Instead of bashing upon the animal he in turn bites down on the furry skin of the bear!! (hits AC13) But he is impressed by the bear's tough hide and fails to bite through...

Hovering in the air at the front of the tunnel, Trellus regards the approaching horde.
"Here we go," he mumbles to himself.

"BEGONE!" roars the blond man, willing the power of his god to destroy the sickening creatures before him.

The wolves dissapate without even a howl before the inevitable undead horde.

The Brown Bear continues its grapple and stands its ground, giving automatic damage to the undead in its arms. (Grapple: 24, 23, 36 Dam 14, 12, 14)

Tishe' is concentrating too much to really notice her wolves are gone until she completes her spell. The air shimmers around her, and three Celestial Bombadier Beetles arrive to stand around the Mystic. She speaks with them in Celestial, certain that her words will be understood. "Each of you guard one of the other entrances to this chamber and attack anything that tries to enter."

The three Celestial Giant Bombadier Beetles separate and one each goes to the north, west, and south corridors to guard the approaches.

Looking over at Trellus, she calls out, "We'll have warning if there are other columns of undead coming in behind us!"

And then she looks at the horde of oncoming undead and sees an opportunity. Running forward (40 foot move with Longstrider to BB,34) she arrives at a place where she can see all the undead (and her bear) and none of her packmates. Tishe' wields her Staff of Frost and points it down the corridor, filing it with a Cone of Cold!

Olaf mutters, mostly to himself, "Cold isn't a bane to the undead...more like skaldi's old types." Pulling out his recurved shortbow, he turns to Trellus, an idea in mind. "Trellus--I'm thinkin' we need ta put a stop to those drums. Anyone got a message spell handy or the like? I'm thinkin' time to scout 'em out and take 'em down. Preferably someone who can fly. I've got invisibility and nondetection for whoever can go. Happy to do it myself--just can't fly." He takes aim, in the meantime, at creature 2 (who remains unobstructed) and fires an arrow at the undead minion [hit AC 30, 3 points of damage].

Flea's slightly pointed ears pick up the voice of Olaf as he speaks to the cleric of Domi. (Listen=26) The rogue hustles behind her packmates, (move to AZ 40) and stands beside Olaf. "I've got something! "It's in the HHHaversack!" At the top lies a vial for her companion. "Spider Climb" she volunteers. "Take it, and get invisible with you other magic. You should be able to climb above their heads along the corridor and let us know what you see." Flea eyes the approaching monsters, her sword and wand in hand, "be careful!" she cautions her friend.

Gilan takes to wing and drops to just even with the entrance to the tunnel, His high pitched echoes giving him a picture perfect view of all that is before him. He tries to judge how much distance there is between the ceiling and the hulking form that he can make out behind the other undead.

Without much more to do at this time and hanging upside down now, where he is at. He starts a new spell that will hamper the enemy at least a little...though it will not slow undead much. He calls into being a great expanse of spikes that run the width of the tunnel and as far back as possible, though he places the beginning of it just after the area that the bear is in.

Watching the Undead horde approaching Trellus has risen in the air revealing all the symbols of Domi laced into his Holy Vestment.
Trellus then retreats behind Gry assuming the Half-Orc will enjoy slashing the rest of the Undead...

Having moved next to Vayine, Yanosh grips his Holy War Axe and readies an attack... first one to come will be dealt with swiftly...

Tishe' hasn't noticed the Wolves being slain as she was concentrating on another powerful spell. Once completed 3 celestial Bombardier Beetles arrive... She commands them all in Celestial speech to guard the other entrances to the Portal Chamber...
Each of the Beetles flies to one of the entrances checking for more undead to come...

Then Tishe' spots a window of opportunity and runs forward... she can see all the Undead and her Bear (in that case I assume you went to BB35 -- but indeed it's difficult to see the numbers with a bigger sized map)... a icy blue cone of Cold spouts forth from her Staff of Frost filling the corridor!!

Olaf mutters to himself that cone isn't a bane to undead... he voices a thought to Trellus that they would best seek out a way to stop the drums... perhaps someone should scout ahead -- even invisible -- to put an end to it...
While waiting for Trellus's thoughts he fires a bolt into #2 just before he flees but the Undead doesn't even notice this.

Flea however doesn't linger and runs up to Olaf offering a Spider Climb spell... this will enable to Olaf to climb the ceiling of the corridors and tell the others what other things are up ahead...

Gilan levels with the entrance of the corridors and tries to see how much space there is between the Undead and the ceiling. The corridors are 20ft high so that should be sufficient to safely fly over them -- assuming you would fly very close to the ceiling...
Gilan sees more undead coming... something strange...
While he has nothing else to do at the moment he casts a spell that may not stop the Undead but it will never the less slow their entrance to the Chamber.

Grymash seems enthralled by the drumbeat and the steady pace of the Undead... Too bad though for he would make a welcome addition to the Pack at the moment!!

Vayine too waits patiently for the Undead to come closer... Well he got what he waited for!! Here they come!!

As soon as the Undead see the signs of Domi they roar in anger!! Never the less, three of them flee in terror!! They run and tumble over and under the ones that come behind them... abandoning the lines... whoever is behind all this won't be lenient on these poor poor undead...

But before these turned Undead manage to get out of harms way Tishe' sends her Cone of Cold after them and the other Undead...

Even Tishe's bear is able to avoid half of the damage (I do believe the bear lost his Dex to AC while grappling but that would mean he still has 22 reflex save what is plenty)

With the turned Undead gone, the rest continues their mindless assault on the Portal Chamber...

#3 walks straight up to Tishe' slamming into the mage. (hits AC27 -- damage 12 HP)

#7 aims for Grymash and bashes on the brute Half-Orc (hits AC18) but fails to connect.

#6 finds Vayine makes an interesting target and lands his blow on the Drow's head (hits AC25) but even the Drow's head is harder than expected!

#10 walks up to Yanosh first to receive the Clerics Holy Axe... It hits but again less damage is given then it normally would against evil creatures like these... He hopes Yanosh is an easier pick and tries to break through (hits AC19) but is stopped by the stout dwarf...

All the other Undead continue their march on the Portal Chamber...

The hulking #11 and #12 feel the pesky Brown Bear has troubled them enough and both of them bite the Bear (Hit AC26 -- damage 20 and Hit AC28 -- damage 22) and destroy the animal...

Free from the Bear #5 rejoins the ranks.
