Cloud Prance Mansion

First docked/DM Buzz
Friday February 20th, 2009 12:03:51 AM

Mixed feelings about the black ship run amuck upon the Silver Lady as the night passes. Those that go ashore find the city alive and prosperous as before. An inn is acquired for a few silver each and they have a uneventful night.

The morning dawns and the waiting boats are instructed to wait as the first ships out of port are able to leave, freeing up more piers for the incoming. The group finds their boat very capable of maneuvering into position.

The 10 gold is collected as the first person steps off the boat and the register tells the captain, "You need to place the name of your boat on the port side for identification. I'll give you three days to do it. Welcome to Abderas."

Those that stayed at an inn last night have a decent breakfast and make their way back to the docks to greet the ship.

A group of four elves and Roundish greet the group, as the heros of Blackbird Lake disembark. He greets you warmly and hands each of you a token some of you have seen before. "The mistress is waiting for you. She sent her carriage for to use if you need, or you can send it ahead."

The halfling is now wearing two short swords and leather armor, instead of the apron you saw him in a few days before. He whistles as he looks over the boat, "I hope it has a good galley."

Unless the group decides to do something else, the guards at the gate take your tokens a couple of hours later and Bardamion greets you with a smile, the first you have seen him wear, "Welcome back to Cloud Prance Mansion."

OOC:
It doesn't matter this night, but in the future, please be more specific when you cast spells, especially when they involve others. For instance, I see Aztyr wanting to cast a fly spell in one post. Others want to go. Then Aztyr doesn't go into town. Who is receiving the fly spell and how will the others be carried. Again, not inportant at this time, but please keep it in mind, especially now that you have higher level spells.

In regard to this city, here is a description of what I have submitted to Jerry for his approval. I have not heard back from him yet, so until I do, this is what will be used. All of course alterable by the site owner.

I might be confused about the map then. I thought the Culverwood was pretty Ga'al free in most respects and Blackbird forest just South of there. I thought it would be possible for the city of Abderas to be a sort of republic state with it's own type of council voted in by the populace.

I guess I also need to how long ago from their current year did the current gods ascend from mortality and when did Aisildur begin the heart seeding?
I have divided the city up into five sections and here are the descriptions.

On the Northern side consists of the noble estates. This is where the wealthy live, which there are ,any of, due to the large trade available through this city. These estates are handed down from generation to generation and buying one is not possible without being put on a waiting list. More space is not viable without infringing on the edge of the Black Forest and some of it's wildlife.

The middle is the market place. Here, guards are stationed on every corner of the place as well as patrols on foot and mount. Stealing while in the market is a strict violation of the city code and everyone knows it is a mandatory two year term of indentured servitude. This special program that some take advantage of when they are hungry or cold treats the poor and criminals well and it is in this chain gang that some maintain their health. Different crimes grant harsher service in different areas. The worst punishment would be cleaning and waste disposal for the Alchemy Guild. The least punishment would be a laborer for the city.

The East side of the city is the "bad side of town". Here temples to the gods of testing flourish in many different caste systems. Sometimes castes between the same church vie for a higher position in the hierarchy. Many other types of businesses and services are available here as well as vices. Homes also exist in a condominium fashion. During the day, this place could be dangerous for a person good of heart and at night, down right deadly. The Orphans of Marteus are a known band of beggar/assassins that all lucid beings in this area fear.
The west side is the "good side of town". The temples to the good gods are prevalent here and as is on the evil side, many castes or factions are also distributed through this area, as well as some shops and houses. Defenders of Abderas are a group of elite citizens that take the protection of their wonderful city safe. They understand the evil of the bad part of town, but also realizes that the only people the good side need to fear are, The Orphans of Marteus. As the rest of bad people seek power within their own ranks, to busy to possibly be blind sided by a rival while plotting against the good.
Once all of this has passed you approval, I plan on copy and paste most of it and then edit it later.

Val AC 26, HP 119/ 119  d8=4 ;
Friday February 20th, 2009 9:45:15 AM

Val greets Bardamion and gets into the coach. There isn't anything she needs to do in town and wants to stay out of sight until the ga'al presence has been confirmed. The last thing she wants is to have more Quad's hunting them down. Quads and the Sons of Dread would be a real problem to deal with.

ooc: finally getting around to leveling Val. she gets 4 hp plus her con bonus.

Light Fortification, AC 28, 86/86hp Malgant
Friday February 20th, 2009 12:04:14 PM

Dressed in his full armor and wearing his sword across his back, Malgant greets their welcoming party. He is somewhat stunned to see Roundish at the head of the group, mistakenly believing that such a good cook would not be involved in security maters. color him surprised, and a bit disappointed. " Roundish, if you are here then who will be seeing to dinner? I was rather looking forward to your cooking. The galley here is workable, but the ship was not built for luxury, but for durability. I hope that it is adequate for what you need." Malgant too heads to the coach, and eyeing it warily, accompanies it to Zill's home.

OOC
I am doubting that three taurs could ride in a coach along with the non taurs in the group, unless it is one behemoth of a coach. Malgant will walk alongside if that is the case.

Also, I am new to the whole Ga'alian fight. Yes I know he is diametrically opposed to Domi, and I understand why with the heartseeding and the whole controlling and fear aspects. But I don't understand the tern Quad or some of the other specific lingo you guys were using. Is there a place I can look this up? either on the site or elsewhere?

Aztyr
Friday February 20th, 2009 2:42:58 PM

Aztyr greets Roundish and takes the token.
Seeing the carrige, she looks down at her 4 legs and laughs as she see's Malgant come to the same conclusion.
"Looks like we are hoofing it along side or behind the carrige, as usual. I could cast a couple spells, but knowing our luck we'll need them before the days over."
Aztyr pulls the hood up on her cloak and wait to leave.

Vauhwyt (HP 90) (Detect Scrying) and Mookie (HP 45)
Friday February 20th, 2009 3:17:19 PM

Vauhwyt casts Reduce Person and takes a ride in the carriage. When that gets old (after eight minutes or so), she gets our, returns to normal size, and talks with Mal.

"You seem confused," she tells her friend. "Here, let me fill in your gaps. A Quad is a matched set of four heartseeded warriors who fight as a single unit. You can;t kill one unless you kill them all, I think. But you should ask Bart and Appolo and Val about them -- they know more than me, firsthand."

Greetings again/DM Buzz
Friday February 20th, 2009 8:54:33 PM

"Oh my assistants have your dinner schedule well in hand. The marinade for tonight's dinner is my own. It will be nearly impossible to screw it up.", Roundish nods his head and winks. "Any galley is a good galley, by golly it's been to long since I have been off land."

He tells two of the four elves with him to take bow and stern watch while he and the others hit a bunk. "Have fun and try to stay out of trouble." He waves the group off.

The trip through town is fast and uneventful. Many watch as the group goes by streets and alleys. The carriage is comfortable with good suspension. It and it's taur entourage make their way to the estate.

Bardamion welcomes you all and Beauford takes what cloaks or gear you would like to be rid of while in the house.

The sound of construction can be heard in the back of the estate.

The entry way is grand and the smell of a cozy fire comes from the main room. Bardamion continues to smile. "Mother is in the middle of something right now. She was...." He says with a slight pause, "interrupted last evening and needed to start over." the smile has underlying tones of curiosity that remain unanswered.

Please make yourselves at home. Breakfast was served earlier, but a slight brunch is always welcome when there is time. I have things I need to discuss with you anyway and then in preparations of our agreement, a contract must be read and signed by all participants in our arrangement. I am sure you will have many questions, so let us begin while refreshments are served."

Looking toward the kind looking human butler, "Beauford, please prepare the dining room."
In an emotionless voice. "Right away sir."

Light Fortification, AC 28, 86/86hp Malgant
Friday February 20th, 2009 11:36:35 PM

" Interrupted..." Malgant would blush if his hide were not too dark for you to tell. " Oh my, I'm so sorry. I didn't know." He falls silent for a time, looking like the cat that ate the canary. Once they are seated and Bardamion is ready for questions Malgant does have a few of his own.
" Domi has granted me the ability to recall myself to a place I consider a sanctuary. I was wondering whether or not I would be able to call say the shrine to Domi that is on the grounds such a sanctuary, or if the place was warded against such comings and goings. I rather suspected it is which is why I ask where I could use such a prayer to return to that is secure. Also I am thrilled that you will be making up contracts so that we all know where we stand and what is expected of us. On that note do you happen to have a book of the laws of this city, so that I may familiarize myself with them so I do not unknowingly step on any toes? Finally what is the standing of the church of Ga'al in this city. Some of our number have angered the church and would be targets of their clergy and followers. We need to know what precautions to take."

Sunday February 22nd, 2009 9:00:29 AM

"Greetings, Bardamion. It's so nice to see you again, and to be welcomed back to Cloud Prance Mansion. Although this trip, I expect I'll explore a bit of the city, if we have the time." Aztyr says as they are greeted.
She looks at Malgant and almost smirks when it's mentioned that Bardamion's mother was interupted last evening, but she know's better than to do anything outloud...
She accepts the invatation to the sitting room, and will gladly eat a brunch, the food on board the ship was survivable, but that was about it.

Vorelle
Sunday February 22nd, 2009 11:20:17 PM

Vorelle says little on the journey to the estate. She frowns a little at the prospect of having to read and sign a contract. Education in Dirt City isn't exactly first-rate, and Vorelle didn't get to spend much time in school. She can read, but not well.

"V-V-Vauhwyt," she whispers at some opportune time. "If th-there's a c-c-contract, c-can you r-read it and t-t-tell me what it s-says?"

"Thanks Bart. I'm always hesitant to use magical arrows. It puts more pressure on me so I don't miss. Though if were going to be dealing with Quads again I have a feeling I'll need them. I was really hoping our days of tangling with Quad's were long over."

Light Fortification, AC 26, 86/86hp Malgant
Monday February 23rd, 2009 7:24:40 PM

Malgant chuckles a little at Appolo's comment about a contract, and at some of the others misgivings. He explains his mirth, so as not to offend his friends.
" The contract is as much for them as it is for us Appolo. They need to know that in some places the people that they are about to employ are wanted. They need to set specific parameters for us to operate under. They need to know that if we find one of the things they are having us look for and it is in the possession of a goodly being that we are not going to stick a knife in that person's back and get the item because that was part of a vague set of directions. This contract gives both us and them a reference point to draw upon if something goes horribly wrong. Besides, you can't possibly believe that a follower of Pantheon and a follower of Domi, both Lawful Dragons, would do something this important without a legal, and binding, contract. You guys have spoken in the past of taking the trials to become Dragon Ranked Heroes yourselves. Don't tell me that you want to be the heroes that heroes call when the chips are down but are afraid of having your methods and the results of your actions subject to scrutiny and compared to a set of operating guidelines. Besides, I gather that they are not hiring us to do their wetwork, something that based upon what I had to do just to send Lady Zill a message yesterday they are far more capable of accomplishing than we are. They want to employ us for some special skills we possess. They have seen that we can think our way around a problem and attack it from a different, and better angle. They have seen that we show enough restraint to think before we start a fight. They have also seen that when we start a fight, we intend to be the ones standing when the smoke from Aztyr's fireballs clears. They want the package deal. Your ruthlessness, my morals, Lorth's ethics, Aztyr's magic. They want everything that each of us is capable of bringing to this assignment, not just a death squad. There are plenty of people in town that they can hire to kill for money. They want us because we can usually find a better way. But don't be afraid of the contract. Coming from Baramion and Lady Zill I expect it might favor them just a bit, everyone I have ever seen tries to favor themselves in a contract, it is how nature works. But it will be fair and allow us the latitude to get what they ask to have done, done. Besides from what I remember of our previous talk about this job Lady Zill has other partners, other of her children involved in this that will require our assurance that we will not go off like a fireball in a crowded market. They have not met us and may not know what to expect. And she has a vested interest in keeping them safe, just as she wishes to keep the others in her employ safe. Security like this is not cheap, nor is it easy, yet she provides it for all of her staff."

Vauhwyt reassures Vorelle. "I'm on it, no worries!" she whispers.

She adds, more generally, "I'm not so keen on a contract. I'm already bound to the WLA and two Gods of Testing. Isn't that enough?"

Mookie caws, "Enough!? Why I told you --"

Vauhwyt cuts him off and stuffs him in his pouch. "That was a rhetorical question," she says.

Light Fortification, AC 26, 86/86hp Malgant
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 8:05:04 PM

Malgant looks to Bardamion " I am sorry, I hope I didn't overstep myself and put words into your mouth. That is how I see the contract. There are things we can't know about each other without a long association, a contract helps iron any differences we could run into out is all..."

Arduous hours/DM Buzz
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 9:00:17 PM

It was the shock on Malgants face that Bardamion was waiting for. His smile fades back to the usual expression you found with him in the past, however his words and actions convey that he has warmed to you all. Malgant also encourages his companions to not fear what may lie within their own words. No one will be forced to sign.
"There is a large book of Abderas in the library. It is filled on the basic city and it's structure, government as well as laws." The group is pointed toward the direction of the library by the first child of Zill. Anyone taking a full week (4 hours/day for 7 days) to read this book will have a +10 to Knowledge: Local on the city.

Lorth is pleased to be back in the mighty residence and expresses the fact, staying mainly out of the picture, while Aztyr greets the transformed dragon with fondness. Bardamion replies to her query, "I personally do not know what mother's time frame would be for you to begin, but finding the devices are of the utmost importance and every minute sometimes count.

Bart too is glad to be back, and tells of the ease in their accomplishment. "Sure, there is a local painter that does that down by the docks." Bardamion says as he smiles wide again with the eagerness of Applo "The contract is for your own benefit as well as our own. It will be in this manner that we insure we can have no disagreements later."

On their way to the dining room, Malgant asks a question. "Normally not a chance my friend. I can tomorrow take you to the main temple to Domi or one of the caste temples if you have a choice, to recall yourself there." says the tall smiling elf. Bardamions expression turns to one of concern. "In order for us to fully shield the estate, we had to also give up some privileges of magic. Interesting enough, mothers item of translocation is the only item we are aware of that penetrates our magical barriers. Which also leads us to wonder, how mother was interrupted last evening. What happened should have been impossible, therefore we missed something in the wording of our miracles and we must again discover what that loop hole would be. That is a different thing entirely though."
He continues, "If there is a god, there is a temple to them in this city. Most of them harmonize to their own benefits and the gods of the Wold and of Testing are on different parts of town. The populations of one side avoid the other as they shun their opposed beliefs, but it's not unheard of for either to travel into each for business. If the priests of Ga'al believe you are their enemies, I think I like you more and more."

Nervously Vorelle asks Vauhwyt for help with the contract and the liontaur replies, her many obligations may limit her. Mookie is quickly quieted, as Bart hands Val some arrows. With the mention of quads, Bardamion loses his kind face but says nothing.

They sit down in the dining room and fruit, cheese and crackers are served with some smoked fish, fresh from the merchant this morning.

Bardamion hands each of you a stack of papers for you to look at. "This is your copy of the contract. The one you will sign will be presented by Xiltachintalical when she is finished making them. It will have a smaller script, but still discernable. I encourage you all to look it over once again to insure that the two are identical.

This contract is just a rough draft of what would normally be a very complicated, wordy document.
1. The number of people that are in agreement with this contract equals 12, with all spoils divided from the proceeds of any adventure launched by Xiltachintalical or her children to be met by those in contract. (Monetary, Magical or Items of worth included.)
2. All magical items found by the group in question will have first choice of normal magical items with Xiltachintalical having second choice prior to being sold to the catacombs.
3. All Teucri artifacts are to be immediately returned to Xiltachintalical as soon as possible. The group in question may not attempt to use them, in any fashion or way, prior to returning them to Xiltachintalical.
4. Any Teucri artifacts that are non-functional will be returned to Xiltachintalical and their monetary value disbursed as a group treasure per contract (divided by 12)
5. This contract is subject to the authorization of an Oathbound follower of Pantheon and will be rigidly adhered to by all who sign, including Xiltachintalical.
6. Said Oathbound will have full authority over Oathbreaker and will met out JUST punishment.
7. With this said, the following person committees to this contract with Honor and Goodwill.

Bardamion goes over the contract, sentence by sentence, so all those present fully understand the context of the contract prior to signing.
Any and all questions that the group may have are broken down into the seven catagorize listed above. This is a long and arduous process, much like buying a modern day home, with all the paperwork that it entails. After all questions are answered and the contract is fully understood Bardamion tells the party "There will be an Oathbound coming over for dinner, as well as you will meet my other two siblings this evening. It will be after dinner that mother will be available for questions, as she is personally creating each contract for you to sign."

With this said, the group can ask any questions they wish, with perhaps three or four hours prior to dinner being served at dusk. The next few hours are your own!

Tuesday February 24th, 2009 10:48:36 PM

Val listened to the contract though for her it wasn't a hard choice. She had the gear she needed. Her armor was the finest elven chain, enchanted for her protection. Her bow held the destructive power of fire and thanks to her new glove she had a place to keep her warhammer. Working for Xiltachintalical would put her in the path of Gargul's enemies. That was her mission. There would be enough gold to live off of and keep her in arrows.

"I think this is our best option. We'll have a chance to really do some good. This puts us right in the path of the Sons of Dread. Gargul demands they be returned to the cycle."

Vorelle
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 11:29:27 PM

Relieved that she actually understands the terms of the contract, Vorelle indicates that she is ready to sign and has no questions.

After the long meeting, she takes some time to romp with Champ on the estate's grounds.

Light Fortification, AC 26, 86/86hp Malgant
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 11:45:40 PM

Malgant wishes to take the few hours remaining between now and dinner to visit the marketplace and aquire suitable clothes for dinner. He is among friends in a safe place and the formal signing of the contract is no place for plate armor. Being a Minotaur he is not sure what clothes he might be able to purchase on such short notice, but would like to give the marketplace a shot.
As he roams the market Malgant thinks about Val's words. The Sons of Dread are indeed outside the cycle, in that they seek to gather power to stave off death. Aside from that they are users of the undead and a threat to the peaceful people of the Wold. Devices such as the ones they seek could have wold changing power, and if used for evil could do as much harm as the blight that the group just lifted.

He tells her," If you don't mind there are a few spell components I could use from the catacombs while you are there. I need a 5000 gp diamond suitable to be used for a raise dead ceremony and I need 500 gp worth of diamond dust seperated into 250 gp pouches suitable for the stoneskin prayer that I now can access. Also be careful. Last time I was there there was a Vampire, a Pit Fiend and an assassin behind the counter. Something about that place just does not sit well with me."

Time to kill/DM Buzz
Thursday February 26th, 2009 5:39:40 PM

Some are ready to jump at the chance to fight along side of such noble creatures as these dragons, but another doesn't seem it fair for them to do the dirty work. Bardamion replies "We are all working. The missions we send you on are all researched by us. Likewise, if others find items in the name of artifact recovery, the value is divided by 12, so sometimes you will receive money without doing anything. That will not be often, but it does happen.

Others notice no true time frame is mentioned. Bardamion smiles "The contract is void when any one of the signers no longer want to be a part of the contract. If someone dies and are allowed the gift of their life returned by Gargul, then they are still bound unless they choose not to be. Likewise, if something else comes up that suits your life goals, that too will cancel the contract. All persons will know of the canceling of the contract and who wanted it to end. You are of course bound to return any treasure or artifacts found before the contract is cancelled. More may also be added to the contract, but that will be done under great scrutiny."

Bardamion goes on to say, "Also, if you break the contract, it is not cancelled. It will be up to the Oathbound to determine if the spirit of the contract is maintained or not, for instance, if you discover an artifact and you commune with your gods to determine that the item is needed to reach your goal, in some way, then there will be no punishment, because the success of all missions are a necessity. That clause is there only to make sure devastating effects brought on by recklessness will not be shared by those not involved with such actions. Remember, these items are extremely powerful and it takes discriminating measures to insure they don't kill you or someone else."

Beauford is summoned and his response to commands swift and efficient as Bardamion sends him along with the group on their trip into the city. "I must wait for my siblings. Their arrival times uncertain, but please enjoy yourselves and Beauford knows the city well. He can take you into the good part of town as well and show you the major temples. Don't concern yourselves with the different caste temples, they are more like clicks in a university, on their own agendas. They all answer to the main temple. The Catacombs is right in the middle of the market place and since it is around lunch time, it should be bustling, so watch for the cutpurse here or there."

Beauford rides up front with the coach driver as he takes you first to the Catacombs, where this is a local stall. He follows the group around happy to carry what items are bought. After an hour ot two, he will direct you all to the main temples of your choice, if that is your wish.

Malgant follows Beauford's directions to the stalls in the marketplace that hold what he is after. Malgant is very pleased with Beauford's obvious knowledge of the marketplace, the man knows just which merchants will have what the Minotaur needs and is able to help Malgant negotiate good prices for all of his purchases. In far less time than he thought possible, Malgant has all of the items he sought, and has spent less than he anticipated. Beauford then leads them to the temples of light in the city. So far Malgant has watched closely as Beauford has led them around town, and he continues to do so now.

The temple of Domi is as Malgant had known it would be. Strongly built to stand in times of trouble. Adorned with the symbols that represent order, strength, protection and goodness. Austere but comfortable. Malgant is at home as soon as he crosses the threshold. He walks through the temple with a reverent step, not rushingtaking the whole place in, searching for the spot that he needs. When he finds it he stops, staring at the part of the room that he will need to imprint in his mind and remember in every detail. He stops in the sand pit, the practice area where initiates are taught how to fight. He takes in each inch of the roomfirst with his eyes, and then with his hands. Feeling the sand as it slips through his fingers. Memorizing the symbols worked into the stones on the walls surrounding the pit. he spends as much time as Beauford allows him there, trusting to the manservant to know when it is time for them to leave so that they might be back in time for the reception. The man does not disappoint. He warns Malgant when it is almost time to go, so that the priest can finish his devotions.

Back at the estate Malgant heads to the bathroom to clean up and dress for the meeting. As he does so he drops off a package in Val's room. Inside is a dress that perfectly matches her hair color and shoes to complement the dress. There is also a small jewelery box with a pair of earrings and a necklace. Made of peridot and gold the necklace matches her eyes. Malgant comes down to the reception in his new dress clothes and prepares to meet the OAthbound that will oversee their contracts.

Seeing the dress, Val decides to really clean herself up. Trims her hair so its neat and even. When your life is constantly in danger worrying about hair doesn't come up that often. She bathes in scented oils. As well as trimming and coloring her nails. Val slips on the dress, dons the jewelery and lastly slides into the heels. Then she waits another fifteen minutes just to make Malgant wonder what's taking so long.

"It hardly seems onerous," she says, "But I do have one question. How the heck are we supposed to know if something we need is a 'Teucri artifact' or not?" Personally, if I find something, I like to fiddle with it. Now, I can restrain myself, but not if I don't know it's Verboten."

Malgant DOES wonder what is keeping Val. He wonders if he got the color wrong, or the size, or any one of a hundred other things that he could have messes up in choosing a dress for her. Then she enters the hall and he loses his breath for a moment. He had always thought her beautiful, especially with her exotic features, but when she was trying, really trying to look good...well then she was lovely. Malgant picks up another glass of wine to hand to her and crosses the room to meet her. Handing it to her he says," I thought something was wrong but obviously you were just making sure everything was right. You look lovely, Val."

Vorelle decides she has enough time to go to the Catacombs and get fancy for tonight's dinner. She rummages in the very bottom of her pack and pulls out a blue silk dress, now sadly crushed. She holds it a moment, thinking of Dietrich and wondering where he is.

She hangs the dress in her room, hoping some of the wrinkles will come out, but doubting that will happen. Even wrinkled, though, the dress is beautiful.

She gathers her gear and heads for the Catacombs. She shuts Champ in a shed or outbuilding if she can; otherwise, she ties him up somewhere on the grounds.

While in the market the group finds the items of their desire, even in the large sizes, where a pull over might not be the best choice, but button ups are in style now anyway. They head toward the main temple of Domi.

Riding or walking through the main gate of the district finds a sense of order. The streets are clean and alleys safe as people bustle through their daily lives. Buildings are well kept and apartments are built throughout this section of the city.

The main temples to Alemi, Domi, Pantheon, Flower and Ffloy are prominent in the West Side of Abderas with the first temple you see being the Grand Temple to Pantheon, where city officials representing the various parts of town hold their meetings and where the people go every year to cast their vote, according to where they live in town. The five representatives pass the laws and over see the protection of the city, by majority vote, those five rule.

The coach and companions make there way around this large structure and estate north toward the main temple to Domi.
The temple of Domi is as Malgant had known it would be. Strongly built to stand in times of trouble. Adorned with the symbols that represent order, strength, protection and goodness. Austere but comfortable. A younger clergy greets you all with a smile as you enter the large doors to the main building. When asked if there is someplace one could perform a recall, they are shown to a specific room that all may use if necessary.
The training pit lies toward the rear part of the estate and is also open to the public as you witness private instructors working with the young and old alike. The hero's get a few looks of appreciation as they are invited to enter.

After some time, Beauford reminds the party that Captain Bart requested information on getting the boat name painted on the Silver Lady "We could accomplish that now if you like?" With plenty of time to spare, the elves guarding your wave rider allows the nervous painter the ten minutes he needed to perform his task and the group is back at the estate.

Tokens are passed and the group finds in the recreation room, Bardamion playing a board game with a cute looking elf, her hair braided into tails and wearing a bright green dress with silver trim, while a very mature appearing human with short curly hair and red dress in yellow trim, taps her fingers watching the game.

"Ah, our guests have returned, allow me to introduce you all." The tall male elf stands and gestures toward his cute sister, "This is my sister Daphenella.". Then turning to the human as they both stand to greet you, "This is Sherentiva." They both greet you with courtesy as they shake first the hands of Aztyr and the others. The female looking elf says, "You must have impressed Bardamions if you passed whatever scrutiny our brother put you through for him to trust you. Please feel welcome, as though you are part of the family. We have to stick together in order to thwart the plots of the Dread itself." As the mature human woman nods in agreement with a smile from ear to ear. "Of course you want to clean up and get ready for dinner, you can join us when you are ready." Champ is taken out back where he can run loose and bury the large bone handed to him by one of the kitchen servants, a human, if Vorelle doesn't mind while she readies her blue dress.

After getting cleaned up, all are dashing for dinner and some even breathless upon their entry into the small party. Lorth remains the quiet one as Val smells as good as she looks. Appolo looks perfectly handsome in his attire andBeauford too joins the party, but not in his usual manner but as the Oathbound here to witness the signing of the contract. "If this makes anyone uncomfortable, I could ask a colleague to join us after dinner?" he will ask, wanting to be sure there are no objections to his witnessing the contract. Bardamion tells the group, "Roundish and Beauford used to do for us what you do. The time came though when they became to well known by our enemies and were ambushed, losing three of their friends. It was then it became to dangerous for them to continue in the same roll they had before, so now, they are our resident staff, advisors and security, while maintaining a low profile."
It isn't long after everyone arrives when Xiltachintalical finally joins you all for the evening. She greets you each with a smile , still preferring her small elven form and gives hugs to those that want one. She takes the Protectors hand and says in front of all, "Thank you for the message. It is because of you that we discovered a crack in our system. It will not go unappreciated."

Drinks and appetizers are served as light conversation is shared. Daphenella is a navigator on the vessel Mornings Glory, a large galley used for trade. Sherentiva is a scribe for the main library in The Float. Through rumor or written words from the past, you learn these two are where most of the information you will be working on, comes from. "Teucri devices come in many shapes and sizes, but it seems the more powerful works are fixed devices. They will always radiate as though they have powerful magic if detected though."

If Bart is willing to produce the Wayfinder, the three siblings take it aside and discuss it amongst themselves while casting arcane magics. When they return, "That is not a Teucri device, but still a very handy item to have."

Xiltachintalical elaborates further on the contract, at the request of Vauhwyt OOC: I didn't do a very good job on this description, so please allow me to change it. "In regard to 'The group in question may not attempt to use them, in any fashion or way, prior to returning them to Xiltachintalical, unless absolutely necessary.' implies that you will not try to use them unless in the performance of a quest. Sometimes it might be necessary to activate one to obtain others, but it must be a responsible action. Consider yourselves in a managerial position." she smiles.

I look forward to defeating the aims of the Dread. Lorth has already tangled with them, and after having been enlightened to their tactics and ways I think that I may have faced one of their number as well in my youth."

Malgant bows his head as Lady Zill takes his hand. " It was not my intention to disturb you. I am sorry that your work was ruined. I will ask for another to contact should the need arise again in the future. I wanted to make sure you were not surprised by our arrival and instead, surprised both of us. If Daphenella and Sherentiva are not so heavily warded I might keep a Sending in my prayers in case we require guidance while we are in the field."

While at the market,Aztyr saw some of the various styles that were predominate in the city. When they returned to the estate, she played with various looks untill she accomplished the look she was after. A cross between the highclass and a rural shamanistic mixture. With her being a light tan, she went for a darker shade of purple, with black and scarlet symbols embroidered on her robe like tunic.
She greeted the entire dragon family, however they wished to be greeted, wether with a handshake or a hug. As the women in the group arrived, she mumbled a couple words and the wrinkles of thier clothing vanished and each wasgifted with a scent. Val recieved a faint vanilla scent. Vorelle recieved a cinnimon scent. Vauhwyt recieved a faint liquorish scent, and Aztyr of course smelled like wildflowers. (used 4 cantrips 1 on each female, Prestidigitation)

Aztyrs clothing is being done with her new hat.

Monday March 2nd, 2009 11:03:50 AM

Vorelle took longer than she had intended in town, and has to scramble to get ready for the evening's festivities. She bathes quickly and dons the blue dress, thinking optimistically that the worst of the wrinkles have indeed come out.

She studies her hair in the mirror and sighs. Fine and limp, her hair always defies any efforts to make it do anything besides hang in her face. Usually, Vorelle likes that. It helps her hide. "No hiding tonight," she murmurs, and tries to think of how to contain it.

With a pang, she remembers Rose. The cheerful little halfling never let Vorelle hide, and had a knack for braiding hair. Vorelle cannot replicate Rose's intricate braids, but maybe she can do something similar. She begins to experiment, making tiny braids out of the front part of her hair, the troublesome part that always winds up in her face. The tiny braids seem to be holding, so she makes a few more.

She quickly realizes that she cannot do tiny braids all over her head; she doesn't have the time. She settles for three little braids on each side, right at the front. Then she pulls the braids, along with the bulk of her unbraided hair, back from her face and ties it with a ribbon she acquired today in the market. The result is a little odd-looking, but it should stay in place.

Vorelle steps back to look at her overall reflection and immediately has a panic attack. The blue dress shows much more of her shape than she is used to. Her hair is completely off her face so there is nothing to hide behind. "I can't do this..." she whispers.

I also decided to ask if it would be a problem, rather than just assuming it would be ok."
She knows that useing her charm on a dragon is probably pointless, but she will do he best at trying out her charmability. (useing her chrisma (24) and not really trying other skills with it.)

Monday March 2nd, 2009 8:02:16 PM

Vauhwyt returns with Vorelle, and does not take much more time than that needed to get dressed.

She chooses to not wear her armor, although to leave it behind gives her a moment's pause. But instead she wears her special white embroidered shirt. She considers that she should probably invet in finer garb, in black, in the future.

She wears her magical earring, given to her by the famous Bill Troublefinder, at the very start of her career. It looks like a tiny set of scales, dangling from her right ear, glowing slightly. Her hair is swept back on the right to show off the earring, but on the left side, as usual, her thick mane hides almost that entire side of her head. She wears her WLA pin proudly, and a cantrip makes her presentable and clean.

She wears no sign of her divine vows; the fact that she casts no shadow even in bright light says more than any garb or symbol ever could.

Another cantrip puts every one of Mookie's feathers in place and gives him a healthy shine. "Remember, not a word!" she cautions her familiar.

By the time she is done, she is a little late, and she swings by Vorelle's room to bring her along too. "Come on! You look great!"

She pauses to take in Vorelle's new style. "You look really great! You have such pretty eyes. Now come on!"

At the assembly, she scowls a little at the news that she cannot tinker at random with powerful magic items they find. "Sure, I guess. I'll have to content myself with fooling around with the merely moderately magical."

Vauhwyt is especially happy to engage Sherentiva. The liontaur loves books, though she is fairly poorly read and new to the art of literacy, having learned her letters as an adult, not as a child. Still, she makes up for it in enthusiasm, if the dragon-librarian does not mind her literary callowness.

Appolo attempts to charm the ladies of the house and they smile at his wit with a aire of confidence.
Although some in the group is nervous about the dinner with the powerful family, it turns out to be a delight as the sea bass was deboned and marinated in a light creme sauce, with some fresh vegetables and hot, soft bread. A pot roast is also served and for dessert, fresh peach cobbler with whipped creme. Bardamion answers Aztyr who uses charisma alone to improve a response. "You could do that if you desire, but keep in mind, our enemies watch our every outside move and you may be exposing yourself to that if you teleport outside the gates. Even then, you will have to ask a guard to come get one of us to allow you entrance, without a token." he smiles.

None object to Beauford being the Oathbound witnessing the contract and after dinner, pieces of parchment are brought down for all to see. The words are much smaller but appear to say the same thing. A pen is passed around to all. Without a lot of ceremony, Lady Zill is the first to sign her contract, then Bardamion and his two sisters. They then wait for the group to sign as well and the Oathbound then says, "This contract is now complete and whole in the eyes of Pantheon."

Sherentiva goes into detail on many starter books for the up and coming reader, as well as suggesting many of the books in the current library.

"On to the current mission." Zill starts after dessert is served. "It first came to the attention from Sherentive that there is a legend of an island that was once like the many islands east of the Taur's. One day after the last devastation hit the continent, people were strewn throughout the Wold and one of the islands became barren. Nothing seems to exist but sand, where there was once dense foliage and jungle. Daphenella confirmed such an island exists and it does lay in the middle of many islands full of life. The two pieces of information together is enough to warrant an investigation into this island. What can completely wipe away the life from an entire island, if not a Teucri device?"

A map is laid out on the table showing the Elennian Peninsula and the archipelago that lies further east of them. "Your mission is to find this island. Explore it and attempt to discover what would have cause such a significant response to a Woldian change. Please, ask any questions you have."

The four look toward the group eager to hear their comments on their first mission.

I don't even think my first mentor, the man who bid me to travel the WOLD and learn before returning would have an inkling, although he might, he knew stuff others didn't, even stuff he didn't realise he even knew."
When she was done saying that, she realized it didn't make much sence, but it was the way it was with the old shaman.

Malgant is once again astounded by Roundish's cooking. Even working from the galley of a not so well provisioned ship he manages to get his staff to turn out this feast on only a days notice. When the contracts come around Malgant takes the time to read over the contract, making sure that all of the points that had been discussed are included. He trusts the dragons, that isn't in question, but sometimes a simple wording error can make a huge difference. He watches as Beauford passes judgment in ceremony over the contract. Really less ceremony than Malgant had expected but still it reminds him that he still has some ceremonies that need performing. He looks across the table at Bardamion, knowing that the dragon is also a priest of Domi, Malgant resolves to speak to him after dinner to try and arrange for the ceremonies before they leave on this mission.
He listens as the mission is laid out for the group. When the rhetorical question of what could have done this but a Teucri device is asked Malgant bites back his immediate response of ' A huge and freakishly destructive necromantic ceremony'. He holds that thought in the back of his mind while the others speak of how to find such an island. Even without the second artifact Malgant is pretty sure that between the divinations that he can use and Bart's Wayfinder the island should be fairly easy to find. But that might be the easy part of this mission.
" Do you know if the Son's of Dread have the same information that you do about this place? If so have they drawn the same conclusion, that a Teucri device or some other massively powerful artifact may have caused this? If so they will be headed toward the island as well and will likely get in our way. Knowing about them in advance allows us the option of either avoiding them or sending them to Gargul before they can do so to us. Also, Is the place still barren? If it is, does it destroy living things that set foot on it? This worries me because nature should have at least gained a foothold on the island by now. Windblown seeds, floating logs, aquatic birds and animals all should have brought enough seeds, spores and other life for the island to have started growing again. If on the other hand this island is permanently sterile then will it not harm us when we land?"

Tuesday March 3rd, 2009 7:30:55 PM

Appolo eats and listens to everyone carefully and watches. He is quite relaxed and happy."Vorelle you need to eat some more.Try the roast. It's excellent with the wine."When the discussion turns to the missionAppolo speaks up"Well the mission sounds ok,although looks like Vaughwyt isn't to fond of it.Nor is Aztyr for obvious reasons, but the primary problem is transport. Our vessle isa little small for along voyage crossing the open ocean and it's unarmed. It's fine for Blackbird lake and river butCrossing the open ocean is a whole different matter. Not sure if we could carry enough fuel to make it.Plus it isa little cramped."

Malgant
Tuesday March 3rd, 2009 8:59:51 PM

" Unarmed? The huge crossbows on the deck don't count I guess. Besides, we are packing a sorcerer that more than likely will take ANY attempt to sink her and get her wet very angry. She can throw fireballs which as I have heard makes even seasoned seamen curl up and whimper for their mommy. Aside from that our boat is made of metal. One good broadside collision from us and the other boat not only will be unable to give chase, but will likely sink. As for fuel the isle is supposed to be out past the Taur isles, no? We can restock there and keep coming back to the Taur isles if we need to refuel." Malgant ticks off the reasons why this is a fine job for them, stifling a smirk at the thought of what Aztyr would do to any ship that even threatened to try and sink them.

Sherentive answers Aztyr, "My source is an old minotaur poet who was also a sailor by trade. He published a book of his travels, in rhyme and this one leaped out to me, because it really didn't rhyme or match his other works. it struck me odd that the passage said this.

Barren back on the great dragon of the ocean
Where other humps flourish, this lies in waste
No tree on which to perch, no leaf upon plant to nibble
Lonely is the dune of the sea where wise men rarely go
Tread upon sand carefully, for something amiss stirs

The human looking dragon continues, "His name is Voshnim the Sturdy and he resides somewhere in the taur islands. Perhaps between him and the mentor of Aztyr, they can help you find this island. Remember, our identities are to remain secret as is your mission, so be careful what you have to say in order to get the information you need!" her eyes cut like diamonds on cold glass as she looks you all over with her last words.

DM Buzz: Please send me an email with any specific information you may have on your mentor, if it's not on your sheet.

The Oathbound Beauford asks Vauhwyt, "Please do not sign if you have reservations. There is no obligation. If you would like to share your trepidations, I would happy to hear them, in public or private."

The ladies Val and Vorelle sign their names the best they can.

Bardamion answers Bart and Malgants questions about the island, "What I have found with divinations and a commune are this is. There is an object involved with the island in question. We do not know if it is a Teucri device or a necromantic power. The object does not have a permanent guardian, that doesn't mean there isn't something there though. Also, we know that the only way to find it is to uncover it. It must be buried at present. Everything else must be determined by you.

Zill consoles Bart "The Black Ship of which you speak has harmed many, in different ways. Those upon it are powerful and many. It may have two or three quads of at least your experience. I strongly suggest if you see them, to get away from them as fast as possible
As for the Black ship, from Jerry said, this might be something that you will encounter later on when you are a Dragon Initiates. I am not a Dragon level DM, so I do not want to make precedence specifics about the Black Ship any further, in order to not force a future campaign or DM to have to adhere to what I say now. Please feel free to ask about the ship. Play your character, but be aware that all your answers will not have a specific response.

Bardamion looks a little shocked at Malgants question, "Domi I hope not! They have powerful resources of their own however. It is possible that they heard about it through rumor, as have Daphenella.

The experienced sailor Appolo believes their current boat inappropriate for the journey, where Malgant disagrees. Daphenella laughs when presented with the description of the vessel. "Is that yours? Amazing! I will have to warn you though, you will not remain inconspicious with that ship." She looks toward her mother, "You should see it! It's a one of a kind boat." The elven sailor wants to know how you come by the ship before she adds, "You guys are pirate bait if you take that out into open water. You may be able to take one or two ships, but four or five? Darn fine boat, a lot of people will want it. Pirate captains may just team up and decide who owns it after it's obtained." She goes back to her dessert.

DM Buzz: Remember, no large weapons, but you could have taken a normal size master work. That was a long time ago though, I would have to go back in the archives to see what your choice was then.

Lorth smiles at Vorelle to show his approval for her outfit. He eats sparingly, but does try the roast as suggested by Apollo. It is excellent.
We listens while Apollo and Malgant talk about the boat and tends to agree with Apollo. He is a sailor after all.

Aztyr signs the contract without a hesitation, she fully trusts this family of dragons and gladly signs on for the quest.

As Apollo mentions about being attacked and the Iron Ship being unarmed, she snickers. "I trust that you forgot about me. I know Malgant didn't, especially after the Slaads down by the shore."

OOC: My mentor is just the Shaman who discovered Aztyr doing simple magics as a youth, and helped to guide her. He was left very vague without much written about him on purpose for the DM or whoever to use if wanted in the future. Since we are headed back towards Taur lands, I decided to mention him.

Appolo replys to the others with smile"Malgant I know about our balista and Aztyr I was thinking about you. Most wrships of anytype have more then one Balista and more then one catapult also the generally have at least 100 sailors. The Sword of the sea which Valanthe Bart and I servd on for many years had 200 hundred sailors two catapults and two balista we also had 3 or four mages. Also as Miss Daphenella says our ship will probably attract alot of attention and with our smoke stack the enemy will see us long before we see them..

Then there is the matter of supplies and quarters, there is only one room on the Silver Lady and I am sure that it will get quite hot on the open sea in the sun all day.I think we needa larger more conventual ship."

Malgant
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 7:53:51 PM

At the mention of the Minotaur poet Malgant feels his heart go cold. The bantering tone he had been using with Appolo disappears and he becomes instantly serious. " You will at least be able to be seen and heard Vauhwyt. I can not say the same." Turning to Sherentive, Malgant continues. " Does the poet live on Minotaur Isle? If he does I will not be able to speak to him, unless my exile is lifted. On the isle I will be like a ghost. Unseen, unheard, basically I will be shunned. I am not sure what this would do to the others as far as how they are treated for associating with me, but I doubt it will help them." Malgant goes quiet for a moment or two and then looks to Bardamion. " I have, affairs, that need to be taken care of, ceremonies that need to be performed before I can revisit my home. I was going to ask you if you would officiate them or at least participate in them because I trust you. Now it seems I will need to have them done before we set off on this mission. You see, I was an initiate when I was cast out. Our ceremony to become actual priests was to be held the next week. I have never actually made my official vows to Domi in a church ceremony. I pray to him each day as I was taught as an initiate and he grants me his blessings each day. Similarly I have never spoken the oaths of the Protector in an official church ceremony, yet each day I find myself more skilled and able to carry out the duties that a Protector is granted by Domi. I would like these ceremonies performed, either in the main temple or in your shrine here on the estate before we leave. In order to be accepted back into the graces of the Minotaurs I would have to appear before the priesthood and be judged as to whether I have carried out the tasks set for me in my exile. I am not sure if I have fulfilled them to the satisfaction of the priesthood or not. I guess we will see."

Malgant
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 8:01:05 PM

In response to Appolo's ideas Malgant replies. " I think you are right, but for a different reason. This job depends on us not being noticed. As Daphnella said we will be the talk of the seas in the metal boat. What should we do though. Do we trade her in for a normal sailing vessel? How many crew would that take? I am not a sailor so I don't know. What I do know is that each crewman that isn't one of us will be one more chance for the Sons of Dread to gain information on us. You or I would not be swayed by the huge amount we were offered for our tokens. A down on their luck sailor might not be so ethical. Is there a boat large enough for us to take on the open sea and yet small enough for us to pilot ourselves?"

Vorelle
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 11:06:08 PM

Vorelle listens as her friends discuss the ship, impressed by their wisdom. "A-also," she says timidly, "the S-Silver L-L-Lady needs s-s-somebody sh-shoveling f-fuel. All the t-t-time. If we g-g-got into a f-fight, s-somebody would have to b-be b-b-below."

The Silver Lady remains docked/DM Buzz
Thursday March 5th, 2009 1:01:40 AM

So the consensus comes down to the fact that The Silver lady is not entirely appropriate. Sherentiva makes the suggestion. "It seems to our enemies that you are likely here. Let us make a show of it in someway and then we could send you to a different port, some where you all could purchase passage or your own vessel."

Daphenella remarks, "You could buy several ships for the gold you would get for The Silver Lady, if you sold it. You could just keep in dock while you are on your mission."

Beauford is satisfied that the contracts are all signed and binding. He collects them and seals them all in a velum envelope. Pulling out a blue candle and stamp, he drips the wax onto the flap and stamps it once bearing Pantheon's High Woldian Symbol.

Bardamion appears puzzled by Malgant's request but composes himself. "Oh, absolutely. We might have to have the priest at the temples perform any rites there are. I'm not a Protector myself. As for you being exiled, it seems to me your faith insures you don't have to care what any mortal thinks of you, so long as you stay in the graces of your belief and wield the power of a god. In my opinion, they should be proud of what you have accomplished and happy you are home. That is my biased opinion though. The past to me is the past and like any battle, it should not be avoided."

As things are discussed Aztyr remains silent for a while.
"There is no way we should sell the Silver Lady, we could never replace her later, no one could ever replace her. I'm sure we could arrange storage here in the city, and that Lady Zill would help keep track of her for us, at least I hope she will.
I think we should arrange passage from here to the Taur Islands, and travel as passangers. That's how I traveled here from there. Once there we hire a ship and travel privately to where we need to go. With three Taurs in our group, it won't look strange if we head there from here. One of us has almost never been there, one has personal business and the third is just going home to visit relitives. We have a built in cover story to be traveling there.
And Malgant, I would be honored if I could attend the ceremony. I too follow Domi, but I've also never been to a honest temple. I've only worshiped alone, or a small make shift shrine. Of course if you was privacy, I fully understand, and will honor your wishes."

Val i agree with you is there way we could make it in a small statue or something like that then and the enlarge it back when we need it. Instead we need to buy a new fast ship, hire a crew and get equiped. Hiring one is no option due to secrecy of our mission.

Are we sure the Silver Lady will not suit our needs?

Malgant
Thursday March 5th, 2009 8:11:09 PM

Malgant looks at Bardamion as the priest states the simple truth of the matter of his faith and slowly a smile spreads across the Minotaur's face." This is the reason I trust you. You can state the obvious that hangs right before me and make it clearer, as you did with Viscious's brood. Domi has stood by me while I was exiled and has granted me his trust by answering my daily prayers. Plus I know that I have at least taken steps toward fulfilling the Elder's decree that I value the lives of others more than I value my own. In just the few words you have spoken I can see what to do and now only need to execute it. In the morning, with the new prayer that I have learned that allows me to recall myself to a sanctuary of Domi, I will return home and stand before the Elders and plead my case. If they lift my exile it will solve any problem that I would cause to finding out more about the island from the poet. If they do not lift my exile then I am in no worse of a position for it. They did not grant me the power that I wield in Domi's name, He did."

Malgant reflects for a moment and then continues. " Lorth, Aztyr, You said you would like to accompany me and see he ceremony. I would be glad for the company and the friendly eyes at my back as I plead my case. Aztyr you are also able to teleport are you not? You would be able to return here and retrieve the others so that we could leave quietly and not be followed by the Sons who watch your estate. We could then book passage or buy a ship from the Taur islands and start that much closer to our goal. How does that sound?"

" I will leave tomorrow morning after I have said my morning prayers in the Temple in the city. If you wish to come I can take three medium sized people with me when I go. Finally I will be able to end this exile and have a place to call home again. Thank you Bardamion for your clear sight and honest words."

We will all go/DM Buzz
Thursday March 5th, 2009 11:55:04 PM

The group stirs the pot of thoughts and emotions as they speak of leaving their cherished boat behind and find a new way to the Taur islands.

As always, Lorth remains quiet, willing to speak up when he disagrees with a group decision. So far, that hasn't happened yet.

It is the belief by Val that The Silver Lady will help them accomplish the goal of some day tracking down the dreaded Black Ship.

Dry docking the metal ship until needed is Aztyr's idea as she also provides an alibi for them all.

Bart asks if there is some way to take it with them. Bardamion answers his question to him, "I can't be positive, but from the sounds of their queries, I would say yes."

Still uncertain The Silver Lady can't accomplish their goals, Vauhwyt also does not want to put mercenaries in danger. Daphenella responds, "That's what mercenaries do. They sell their lives and their swords for money. Who else would you want to put into harms way?" Almost incredulous, she continues, "I can't fathom a mercenary crew going back on their word for the fear that their name would have a black mark upon it. And you well know, your name is the largest asset a creature has."

Appolo seems eager to leave and find some adventure.

Champ and his safety is always on the mind of Vorelle

Thankful for some wise opinions, Malgant asks others who would like to go with him via magic in the morning. Xiltachintalical asserts her soft feminine voice, "We will all go! I want to look upon the individual that believes you are not willing to help others with your own safety set aside. I will have a few words for them."

Never have you heard her speak in such a manner of resolution. Her children lower their heads for a moment and go silent as she smiles at all at the table. "Now, who is up for a game of Scrimmage before bed, I am after all, the undefeated champion of the house. Now that we have guests, perhaps my luck has worn out?"

The mood lightens again and Daphenella claps her hands softly at the idea. Beauford begins to clear the table when he is told by Bardamion, "You are off for the night old friend. Leave that for Duncan to take care of." The middle aged Oathbound smiles, "Of course. I'm afraid I have developed some habits that are hard to break."

Scrimmage is the board game you saw Bardamion and Daphenella play earlier, much like Stratego where the contestants make three D20 rolls and add their intelligence modifier to each roll. The highest sum wins the game. Each game takes 30 minutes to an hour to complete. If you want to play, pick the competitor of your choice and make your rolls. It doesn't have to be one of the resident dragons. No one would mind if you played amongst yourselves. Don't forget to make your rolls if you challenge someone.

" You would speak to them on my behalf, without even knowing the reason for my exile? I...I would be in your debt. Thank you." When the game is mentioned Malgant watches a few rounds and then plays whomever will take him on in a game. Clearly he did not understand all of the nuances of the strategy. Or, more likely he is too distracted by his upcoming trial to concentrate fully on the game. When the evening begins to wind down Malgant retires to his room to sleep. After a few hours he is sure that sleep will not come for him that night and he rises to instead prepare for the next morning. He travels through the house o the shrine of Domi that Bardamion maintains in the house and spends the next few hours in meditation. He orders the story in his mind as he knows he will need to recount it before the Elders at the trial.

When the games finally end for the night, she heads out to the back lawn and one of the tents that had been set up.
She has a little fun with some of her simplist spells. She uses a couple of dancing lights spells and sets them to make a chain of lights and to be chasing themselves around the top edge of the tent. she uses another of her prestidigitation spells to produse a lingering scent of the plains of her home, inside her tent. His prayers complete and the order of events refreshed in their feeling of horror and loss in his mind Malgant opens his haversack and removes his gear. In a very Lorthlike fashion he sets himself to cleaning each piece of armor and as each is finished he sets it aside. The enchantment that reinforces the armor also fights rust and corrosion on it, to a degree. Whatever damage has befallen the armor in the past few weeks is cleansed away. When all of it is cleaned Malgant then takes out some holy water and blessed oil and once again goes over each piece of his armor. This time he utters prayers of strength and protection over each piece as he blesses them. In his deep voice prayers to Domi said in old tauric reverberate from the walls of the shrine. Taught by Gralnir Swordbreaker over ten years ago, the prayers come back to Malgant as if it were only yesterday that he had learned them. Once the armor has been tended to Malgant's sword is treated to the same ritual of cleaning and then blessing. The wargear of a priest must always be kept ready. To that end it must always know that it has been cared for by the priest that will use it. In order to better protect the priest the wargear must know the priest's touch. The wargear must feel the trust that is placed in it to serve and feeling that trust becomes one with the priest. That was what Headmaster Gralnir had always taught them. And did the Headmaster's wargear not shatter the weapons of nonbelievers that struck him? Indeed it did, and according to him this was due to the care he placed in making sure that his wargear was always readied by his own hand.
His preparations made, Malgant now feels that he will be able to take some little bit of sleep before morning. He leaves the shrine and goes back to his bed on silent hooves and manages to get a little sleep before the dawn.

Tuesday March 10th, 2009 3:16:26 AM

The Protector with emotion is in the debt of Zill and after a game or two, prepares for the next day in ritual. Malgant will have a an emotional week ahead of him. His dreams when his mind slips into that realm seize upon his subconscious doubts. Even so, resolve fills the minotaur to face his past.

Bart admits his prowess with weapon is much greater then wit, but enjoys the game none the less.

Being the first out back since their arrival, Aztyr sees four large rooms being added along the west wall of the estate. Each room is fifteen feet high and the doors are six feet wide and eight feet tall. The future guest rooms for the taur guests.

The night passes uneventfully for Vorelle and Champ indeed looks forward to his morning routine with his best friend.

Daphenella distracts the party and pulls Vauhwyt aside to admire a painting. Highlight to display spoiler: { With concerned tones, she is asked, "I would ask if you are well, but clearly the answer is known. Please share with me your thoughts? }

The tattooed sailor and now enemy of the Dread shows his respect to the matron and sleeps well until awake. The nights dreams of wine and women past, brings a smile to his face when leaving his bed.

Xiltachintalical tells everyone, "The time has come when we must all support each other in our endeavors. The enemy is forever at the gates of good. We must struggle against the Sons of Dread, Ga'alians, The Orphans of Marteus as well as all those that forsake the common good for their own ends. Although there will be times when we can not be there for your group, when we can be, behind you we will stand." her calm wisdom is shattered by a dish breaking in the kitchen, breaking the thoughts of the moment.

The day comes and all are fed well before they prepare for their journey. Zill comes down with what appears to be a crystal ball in her hand. The four dragons have their bags packed. Bardamion dresses in brown traveling garb and high hard leather boots. Bracers adorn his arms and rings are worn on the fingers. He carries a rod at his side and two wands tucked into small leather sheathes on his belt. Sherentiva walks with a pure ivory quarter staff with a blue diamond resting at the head in a mithril setting. Magical runes adorn the surface. Her robes match the staff as she wears a blue dress and white slippers. Her flared sleeves reveal signs of bracers also. Daphenella wears two short swords, one on each hip and carries a quiver of 8 javelins. Wearing leather armor, she looks like quite the sailor as her hair is braided back and out of the face and her eyes eager for the sea. Xiltachintalical comes down in a green dress with blue and silver trim on the sleeves, neck and waist. No signs of weapons or wands apparent, but her jewelry is very expensive looking.

"Now then," the matron begins when everyone is together and ready. "Let us go to the Recall room at the Grand Temple to Pantheon and from there we can teleport out to one of the major cities I know of where we can catch a boat to your homeland." She pulls out the small familiar device made of metal with the gem tip and the small button like object on the device. Then looks to everyone, "Are we ready?"

That is if Malgant is willing to use his home temple as a recall location. Of course moving to the temple here in this city will also help, Your protections about the estate will block my return to here. And I've seen Vauhwyt become a human sized preson, so that will help as well."
Aztyr casually tosses out the suggestion, with her new found spells, ready to be cast.

Designed to be worn over armor the robes would be shapeless and, if it were possible to imagine, loose on the Minotaur's huge frame. Malgant had been prepared to go directly to the Temple this morning, but Lady Zill has other travel plans it seems.
" I had been prepared to travel directly to the Temple this morning, but your arrangements will allow me time to prepare you for what is to come. Will we be arriving on the Isle of Minotaurs directly Lady Zill or will there still be travel time before we arrive there? Light Fortification, AC 26, 86/86hp Malgant
Tuesday March 10th, 2009 7:57:49 PM

Malgant is touched by Bart's words, and by the sentiment behind Appolo's, but something is amiss in Appolo's statement. Malgant tries to make him see it the way Malgant sees it.
" I do have something to prove is the whole fact of the matter Appolo. I was exiled by a law abiding council because if I were what they said I was, a power hungry, self advancing priest that holds the lives of others cheaply then I would have been a threat to the stability of the entire temple, possibly to the entire belief system of my people. Exiling me wasn't exactly cowardly, but it was done out of fear. If you don't believe me ask Bart. Domi does not work through fear. Domi promotes the feeling of courage to bring those who are not strong on their own to strength by their numbers, teamwork and faith. The type of strength that you would promote, at the edge of a blade is not what Domi stands for. In fact it is very near to Ga'alian logic. I admire that you think enough of me to take my side and be willing to shed yours or another's blood for me. But that isn't what I would ask. The priests that will preside over this trial are all quite wise, but even wisdom can be blinded by fear and misunderstanding. I never refuted the charges against me because the facts that were given were true. I did order the attack on the undead. I did know that most of those I stood with would die, perhaps even myself. But, the reason I ordered it was to protect the people that would be hurt by the undead if we did nothing but waited for reinforcements. The reason that the Elders were told that I did it was for my own personal glory and that was the only thing that my accuser had wrong. But how could I have proved that? Envision this if you will. You come upon an evildoer with an object of great power. He tries to use it to destroy a city but instead you stab him and take the item, foiling his plot. The city watch arrests you on a charge of attempted murder and theft when the evildoer goes to them and complains. How do you prove you are the good guy to the watch, none of whom were there? You have the item, last seen in the evildoer's possession, and he says he did not give it to you. Therefore you must have stolen it. What other conclusion can they come to? It is your word against his. If you choose to settle it with a duel all that you really prove is that you are a better swordsman, not that the charges against you are false. So, they exiled me stating that if I could prove that I valued the lives of others above my own that I could return. Now it is time to present evidence that I do value others and earn my honor back in their eyes. I ask you, in fact I beg you not to threaten my people. What they do is for the good of our belief system. If they decide that I should remain exiled, that I have not brought enough proof, then I am strong enough to live with their decision."

Vorelle
Tuesday March 10th, 2009 11:40:01 PM

When Vorelle joins the others, her blue dress is packed away, and she is wearing the familiar, shapeless cloak that seems to blend into the surroundings.

Under her hood, however, her hair remains in intricate little braids.

She grips Champ securely by the collar and makes ready to depart with the others.
