The Sliver Lady is Docked

Open portal/DM Buzz
Wednesday March 11th, 2009 1:04:11 AM

Aztyr believes she can get the whole group "there", but where is that location? Has Aztyr been to Minotaur Island? Does she intend on teleporting to her own island and taking a much shorter boat ride over?

Malgant asks Zill if they are heading right to the island? "I have not been to the taur islands, so I wouldn't be able to define in my head a specific location to send us to."

Bart says under no circumstance will harm come to the Protector while he is around.

Appolo misunderstands the ways of the minotaur people and is educated by Malgant as all picture the tattooed sailor behind a plow in the fields.

Lorth looks dashing and is prepared for the journey.

Val to is ready to depart and prepared for battle.

Vauhwyt has a restless night as her past continues to haunt her. Perhaps it is time for some of her own revenge?

Vorelle and Champ stand ready as well, to proceed on their endeavors.

As the group stands ready, it is still unclear what will be done as Beauford brings Zill her traveling hat. "Standard operating procedure I presume mistress?" the Oathbound turned butler asks.
"Yes. Please take care of the manor while we are away and have Roundish dry dock The Silver Lady and return to the estate." She hugs her butler who stands as a statue for further orders.

"Now then," says Zill as she pushes the button and a portal like one you have seen before appears before you. On the other side a bright blue room with one exit. "Lets have Aztyr take us to where she knows to go and we can grab a boat from there."

Bardamion is the first to step through as do his sisters and the group before Zill joins you all.

Now, the next part of the journey is up to the liontaur.

What we had discussed I thought, was Malgant recalling to the Temple of the Bountiful Vine with whomever was going to need to see it for teleporting( like Aztyr and Zill) and then have Aztyr teleport Zill back to the party to bring the party along. Before the dragons had decided to join us the plan Aztyr and I had been under had been I recall her and 2 others to the temple and she pops back and forth with the rest of the party once she has had time to study the location. If Zill can use her Tuecri teleporter then just bring her along on the recall with Aztyr and have Aztyr return her to the party and have Zill bring them all with the Tuecri teleoprter. Boom we are all on the Minotaur Island at the temple, no boat, no walking. 8)

Aztyr tries to stop Zill, before she used the device. So that they can discuss the plans Malgant and her had discussed privately.
Hopefully, Zill can set it to the Temple Malgant first worshiped at, after having seen it. Otherwise it could be a very long trip to the Taur islands, and avoiding a ship is perfectly fine with Aztyr...

"You have been exiled my friend, do you really think it wise to just pop in to the temple? Some may consider that rude or even disrespectful to the elders? I wouldn't make this ordeal tougher on yourself then you need to, but the plan is also sound enough to work. Once I have seen the location, I can use my device again to bring everyone through."

Aztyr
Wednesday March 11th, 2009 2:55:01 PM

"It's Malgant's call. But I can become more like you Zill for the initial trip through, so Malgant can take 3 of us. Then I bring you back to the front of your estate's gate, leaving the third with Malgant so there is someone with him to speak to the elders or others there if they won't recognize him or even speak with him.
That way they can let it be known that the rest of us will soon return, and our large groups arrival will not be a shock to them."

" I see it in two lights. Recalling to the temple shows that I am still favored enough with Domi to be granted the prayer that allows me to do it. As Bardamion has said, much of the good side of my tale is that Domi has not found fault with me and continues to allow me his prayers so that I can do his work. Doing so also saves me the shame of crossing the island shrouded and ignored. On the unfavorable side the temples guards might night be terribly happy about an exile teleporting into their temple and asking that their case be heard. I believe that if I do not threaten anyone and simply state that I have returned to have my case reviewed, and that those who would speak on my behalf will soon follow me to this spot I should be fine. Unless alot has changed in the Temple of the Bountiful Vine I very much doubt it will come to blows." Malgant pauses, choosing his words. " I think more conflict would be avoided by going directly to the temple. The possibility of tempers growing short over an extended walk through the isle may lead to more confrontation than walking avoids. Minotaur are a headstrong bunch you know, not easily changed by the views of outsiders. The common people of the Hand of Imod would much rather have their minds changed by the Priests of the Heart. I will go and prepare those in the Temple for your arrival. I think it best though to follow your plan of leaving from the temple here in the city, to throw off those that study your movements. We can all go there now, and when we arrive I can tell you the whole story of what you are all about to get yourselves into, so that you know all of the details. Once you are all prepared then I will recall to the Temple bringing Aztyr, Lady Zill and Val with me. Once you have both studied the place where we arrive Zatyr can return Lady Zill here to bring the others along. How does that sound?"

Vauhwyt will cast Reduce Self to make herself easier to Teleport, but not until just before the spell is cast. The duration -- 8 minutes -- should be fine, but she won't risk enlarging at the wrong moment.

Other than that, she simply watches and waits, with a hand on Mookie, who is in his pouch. her other hand drifts to her amulet, carved in the liontaur tradition by one of the very few other female liontaurs she has ever known.

Ready when you are/DM Buzz
Thursday March 12th, 2009 2:23:23 AM

Teucri devices are the only magic, until recently, that could penetrate the magical wards of the estate. It would be virtually impossible to enter or leave the estate without the device Zill uses to open portals.

So the group steps into the solid blue room of recall, in the Grand Temple of Pantheon. Once inside, you can see it is of oval design. The outline of a face can be seen above the door, but it's features are a white light which illuminates the room.

The group gathers around for further discussions on the matter of transportation and Malgant makes it known that he can take only one with him if using his Word of Recall, that is, if he can even call the temple to Imod a sanctuary.

Zill believes she would be the best choice to go with him. "Once there, I can use this device once more this week and bring all the others through from here to there, without anyone else needing to reduce their size or Teleport. This is not however my quest and I will allow you all the privilege of determining how we are to get there."

Bardamion objects to his mother going, "We do not know how they will perceive your entry mother. What if they attack first and ask questions later? It will not do our friend any good if we are to defend ourselves from their aggressions."

His sisters nod their head in agreement as she responds, "Still, it would save them days if not weeks if they can solve this dilemma and continue on with their mission, instead of taking a boat from near Blackbird Lake. I also do not believe that a non-worshiper of Domi, or Imod as the case may be, would be able to magically transport themselves into a official sanctuary. I am not aware of any divine temple that doesn't have wards or protections from their aggressors and although there is no longer open war between the taur islands, there is still bitterness, suspicion and skirmishes amongst their peoples. This too has been considered by their elders and precautions have been made, I am sure."

The three siblings remain silent and emotionless, as Zill looks up at Malgant waiting.

Vauhwyt remains a little confused.

"Why are we in such a rrush? This seems more problematic than helpful. Why don't we just take passage on one of the many merchant vessels that ply the waves between Dirt City, Aisildurr, and the Taur Isles. We'll need to commission such a vessel anyway when we set off for Death Island."

The liontaur is not eager to blip into a minotaur war-god's sanctuary, especially since Malgant is evidently an exile from the place.

"We're saving ... what? a week or two of sailing? and risking combat with hostile minotaurrs? And we don't even want to go to Minotaur Isle?"

"Okay, look, I'm calling for a vote! All in favor of sailing to Liontaur Isle, say 'AYE'!"

" If not Minotaur Isle where do you hope to find an old Minotaur poet? If we do have to go to minotaur isle to find him I will be like an albatross around your neck. Although you could claim I am just following you like a lost puppy. In their pity and desire to not have my dishonor touch them personally most minotaurs would probably believe you. I will relate to you what happened. I will make this factual, if I knowingly add my opinion to the story I will note it as such."
" I was admitted to the Heart of Imod, the Minotaur priesthood of Domi at the age of ten, when I and two other minotaurs met the qualifications and passed the tests of entry that year. The names of the other two were Shielda Morningstar and Lothar Blackhoof. All three of us took to the teachings of Imod quite easily. I excelled at his martial teachings, Lothar at his scriptures and prayers and Shielda at both. At the age of fourteen, just before the ceremony that would accept each of us into the Heart of Imod fully and show that we were considered adults by Minotaur society, strange things began to happen around the Temple of the Bountiful Vine and the farms that surrounded it. Animals left outside were found dead in their pens, and there were strange skeletal footprints all around these dead animals. The tracks were easy to follow and they led back to an ancient battle site where five minotaur heroes had stood against overwhelming odds to protect the island from an undead horde. I had led a visitor to the site less than a week before at the request of the Headmasters of the Temple. Those same Headmasters decided that something must be wrong up there and had myself, Lothar and Shielda accompany a score of militia to the site to find out what was wrong. Since I had been there before, and had worked with the militia before I was placed in charge of the group. We arrived and found that the 'scholar' that I had escorted a week ago was raising a horde of undead for Domi only knows what kind of mischief. He had just succeeded in animating the corpses of the five heroes as ghouls when we arrived. There were several options hat we could have pursued, such as going back and warning the Temple and gathering more to fight the undead, but the scholar had animated all of the bodies he could summon and was about to commence whatever deed he had summoned them for. I felt that to wait for help would mean that he could reign terror on he countryside while help arrived, and I was not about to let that happen. Though heavily outnumbered we attacked. We three clerics managed to destroy some of the ghouls and many of the skeletons and the militia were doing well against what was left when the largest of the hero's corpses began to cut a bloody swath through our numbers. All of us clerics were out of prayers and we fought on with only our skill and weapons against the remaining Undead. All of the militia were either killed or paralyzed, Shielda was trying to stop the largest ghoul and I was dealing with the last remains of the skeletons and one of the other ghouls. Lothar I think was trying to pull any of the living militia to safety since he was no match for the undead in melee combat. When it was over, Shielda had been paralyzed and I ended up finishing off the largest ghoul and whatever remained of the skeletons. The scholar slipped away in the confusion."
"Two days later, Lothar brought charges against me, claiming that I was mad with the power that had been trusted to me to lead the group and that I had ordered the attack for my own personal glory without any regard for the others that fought alongside me. The two elders out of three that were present decided that he was right after I chose not to deny his claims, and exiled me. Against Lothar's claims I could have done very few things. It was true that I had ordered the attack. It was also true that I viewed our chances of survival as slim. I looked a the fight in this way. The clerics and militia that stood with me had chosen to protect the community by placing ourselves in harms way so that innocent people did not have to face things like the undead in front of us. Did I hold the militia cheaply? No, I had known most of them all of my life. I had been schooled next to them, I had played with many of them the games of childhood. They were probably the most dear people I had known in my life up to that point. Domi teaches bravery and protection and I sought to protect the young and the old and those who could not fight back against what we faced. I could have challenged Lothar to Kayleb, and let blows decide who was right. That option was my right in minotaur society. But that would only prove that I could beat up a scholarly boy who was obviously weaker than I was. That is why I am in exile. I was charged by the Elders to prove that I valued the lives of others above my own. Now I would need to provide that proof through your words of my deeds. Without that it would still be my word against Lothar's. I gave up my fa,ily name when I was exiled so that the shame of exile would not stain them too. Take a moment and I will be ready to go. Aztyr you mentioned that you can make yourself smaller? When you do I will be able to transport you , Lady Zill, Val and myself to the Temple. As far as them being hostile to our appearance I will tell you this. Offer them no reason to strike you and no blows should be struck. For my part I will let no harm befall you."

Aztyr concentraits for a few moments, and she suddenly shifts and changes into a robed and hooded female about the same size as Val or Zill. Upon looking under her hood she could probable pass as a relitive of Zill's. "I hope you don't mind, but your immage is rather prominent in my mind right now. Once we teleport back, I'll return to my normal self for the walk through the portal you open."
She tries to keep the hood up, because she doesn't want problems....

Lorth, the paladin of the group stands and waits for the others to determine their next course of action, offering no assistance.

Vauhwyt not understanding the dilemma asks for a vote on what would be done.

Bart offers his opinion on the matter and the lack of secrecy the group can maintain while traveling abroad.

Malgant goes into great detail of why he feels he must do this and thinks highly still of his races honor, that they will not attack first.

Aztyr changes herself into a similar form as the matron Zill but does not vote.

Appolo does not think highly of the elders of the island and race of the Protector, then makes a pass at his transformed comrade. He too does not vote.

Vorelle does not blame a race but an individual. Again, she too does not vote.

Bardamion, Sherentiva and Daphenella believe they should travel to minotaur island by boat. Where they depart from is of no concern. They mention they can disguise the entire group with spells if necessary.

Xiltachintalical looks toward Malgant and says, "It is this champions choice in my eyes. When his spirit has been satisfied, it is then that I will know his heart will be in his future quests."

Four votes to not go directly to Minotaur Island.

Two votes to use Malgants Word of recall to go straight to the temple.

Vorelle hesitates. Travel by boat is not exactly her favorite. But is entrusting her fate to a wizard, who promises to make her vanish and re-appear someplace else, really any better?

"B-B-Bart has a g-good point," she says at last. "T-t-teleport is f-faster." Hesitantly, she adds: "D-d-does it h-hurt?"

Aztyr

"Vorelle, I believe the current plan is that Malgant takes Val, Lady Zill and myself directly to the Temple of the Bountiful Vine. Once there, I bring Lady Zill back to the temple here. She then uses the same device to open a portal to the temple on Minotaur Isle, like she did when she first brought us here. You just step through a open door, and you're there.
As to wether Teleporting hurts, It only hurts when a very bad mistake is made, Other wise it just feeling like you're being squeezed a bit and you then appear at your destination and the squeezing ends.
And Appolo, I still prefer my men to have four legs, just because I don't look like I did, my preferences haven't really changed." She then cracks a smile and laughs a bit, her voice is nothing like it normally is...

" It is an excellent idea. Alas it will not work for the poet. I am not familiar with him, in fact I have not even read any of his works. I need that familiarity to contact his mind." Malgant smiles," Just think what would happen if some random priest you had never met started sending you mental messages. Someone I HAVE met though is my old teacher at the Temple. There is no doubt that he is very old, but I think I would have heard from any of the temples we have stopped in if he had been called to Gargul's table. He was not present for my exile because the other Elders came to a majority decision without him. I think that he would be able to receive us at the Temple and there would be no chance of the bloodshed you are all afraid of. Old or not, I cannot even conceive of any of the Temple guards questioning his orders to let us enter."

It appears that Vauhwyt has many reasons not to go directly to minotaur island. She also makes a case that Teleport might not be the best idea. Are there other methods, she asks?

Frying pan or fire? Vorelle questions the others on what a teleport feels like.

Aztyr is corrected by Zill "It will not be necessary to come back here. She says. "Once I am there, if I can have a little privacy and enough space, I can open the portal from there to here and you can all step through. There was really no need to change form, but you do look nice."

Malgant concedes that there are other options. He presumes that Gargul's call to priests are known to all their peers. He is reminded by Daphenella "Not all of the noble races can be called noble my friend Malgant. Even so, your race is one of war and they have been known to be raiders and killers, the same with Liontaurs, Centaurs and every other intelligent race that has existed that we are aware of."

Appolo votes to let the exiled Minotaur do as he wishes, and deal with the matter at hand when it arrives, like riding out a storm, dealing with each wave as needed.

Val forgets that many gods grant their priests spells and who is to say that an imposter for a god of testing wouldn't admit to being a priest to Domi? Only a Protector can perform specific acts however. Perhaps that is a way?

Xiltachintalical waits patiently, like an oak in the forest. Not rushing or attempting to steer the course of the group, although her children are having a hard time of showing such emotions. Being creatures of law, they look at each other as if all of this would have been decided weeks before a journey would have began, yet, they follow their mothers lead the best they can.

Malgant closes his eyes and pictures Elder Gralnir Swordbreaker in his mind, The warbraids worn long and red against his blackened armor. The single eye fixing a student with it's gaze as the student tries to master one technique or another. With this picture in mind he slowly mouths the words he will send through the wind to Gralnir's ears. "Master Swordbreaker, returning to have my exile reviewed. Recalling to Temple recall chamber momentarily. Those who would speak for me following. Prepare for me. Malgant."

Malgant reaches into the folds of his robe and extracts a gauzy hood and green ribbonThe hood slips over his head and the Ribbon he wraps around his horns, signifying that he is an exile. As he does so he comments back to Daphenella about raiders. "Miss Daphenella, learned as you are, you see mistrust in those you do not deal with regularly. That is not a bad thing, it is one way to stay alive and out of trouble. I try to see the best in those I don't know, or that I do know and have not seen for some time. I even felt sorry for Viscious for the loss of her brood, for a little while anyway. Minotaur are not considered a noble race anymore. Once they divided into the three taur races they were stripped of that status, and of the longevity that the Taur once held. All races can spawn barbarians, raiders and killers. All races can also spawn poets, artists and scholars. "

Malgant looks up to Lady Xiltachintalical. " You have been very patient. For that I thank you. You have also been very trusting that no matter what waits in my Temple that you will not be harmed. Again I thank you." He extends one hand to her, "I am ready to go, will you accompany me?" He extends his other hand." Anyone else coming with us? If not you can wait for Lady Zill's portal here."

Once Zill and any two others take his hand to go Malgant will recall to the Temple, hoping that his old Master is prepared for his arrival. (Zill is designated as Malgant's interpose target)
