Check-in with the Boss

Ingrge: AC 32, HP: 116/116, SR 18, Arcane Sight, See Invisibility
Sunday February 22nd, 2009 10:32:12 PM

At some point in time Ingrge approached K'naraHighlight to display spoiler: { Umm if Agram is going to join us we probably should get him a ring don't you think?}

The ten day break was a needed breather for our heroes as it seems they have been on the run, since well, as long as they can remember. Vanime Elemmiire has charmed nearly everyone in the crew particularly the grump taciturn dwarf-like father, Ingrge, who nearly tears up when Lian presents the stuffed gnome doll to her.

But like all good things this time of rest comes to an end, though perhaps not in a way that any would have foreseen.

It is just after breakfast when your heads start a buzzing and almost immediately you hear Lord Sturtevant's voice ring clearly.

"Good Morning Dragons. I hope things are well with you. Ingrge, I hear congratulations are in order. We haven't talked in a bit and was wondering if you felt like taking a little jaunt over here to have dinner with me tonight. Nothing formal, just dinner and talk. maybe you could pop over this morning and do a bit of shopping and sight seeing as well. Shall we say dinner at 8 bells? I look forward to us talkikng."

K'Nara
Monday February 23rd, 2009 1:23:03 AM

Regardless of how Argam may respond to the blade singer's inquiry, the morning that the Emeralds sit down to breakfast, K'Nara presents to the Fixer a familiar-looking ring. Argam immediately notices that it is identical to the ones that the others in the Emerald Dragons group wear.

"This, my friend," K'Nara tells the dwarf, "...is a Ring of Communication. You have only to think of whom within the Dragon Consortium you want to speak with and then anything you say out loud will be heard by that person...er...as long as he or she has their own ring on, that is. Everyone in the Emerald Dragons has one, and it's come in VERY handy so that we can be more effective tactically while we are in battle. As long as you're seeing fit to give us a trial, you might as well try out our whiz-bang magic stuff, too." There is a telltale glint of humor within her hazel eyes.

Lian
Monday February 23rd, 2009 12:19:56 PM

"Oh, he gets one too! How exciting... do we get to take another Trial now? Who dies this time?"

Argam
Monday February 23rd, 2009 5:09:17 PM

"Yes, I can do any rechargable magic item, but some cost more woldsblood than others. Staves take 10 drops per point. That takes awhile. I might be able to do a point or two a day to keep it up."

Then the others start bombarding him with information. Argam once again is floored.

"Is th-this how you normally get new people? They drop in on ya and you just saddle them up and take them wit ya?

"Me give you a trial? I..."

Then, K'nara pulls out the ring.

He is speechless.

K'Nara
Monday February 23rd, 2009 10:17:16 PM

K'Nara glances at Lian so that he gets the point--the point of her elbow delivering a quick and vicious jab into his ribs.

"Ix-nay on the ies-day...we don't want to arescay off-ay the eric-clay..." she hisses at him between ultra-white teeth clenched in a friendly smile that she beams Argam's way, still holding out the ring to the dwarf.

"So...what say you, Fixer..? Willing to give the Emerald Dragons a chance..?"

Argam
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 12:19:21 PM

"Me? Give you?"

He pauses. Looks down.

"No milady. I cannot give you a chance.

He pauses.

"It should be the reverse of that. You must give me a chance--if you will.

Lian
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 4:04:53 PM

"Ix-nay on the whos-it?"

"So, when we give you a chance, where do you want to be buried?"

Ingrge: AC 32, HP: 116/116, SR 18, Arcane Sight, See Invisibility
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 9:10:47 PM

Ingrge shakes his head at all the grim nonsense and looks at Argam. Don't pay much mind to them when they are like this. They are not used to being rested and not under fire.

In all honesty though it is a mutual trial, you may or may not like working with us and or the other way around. So it will be a feeling out period. The ring will make coordinating our efforts a little easier.

Ladies and Gents. I think we should be on the move. Sturdevant basically implied that he wanted us seen in Plateau city most of the day before he meets with us this evening, so I suggest we get the move on. Pack your necessary travel and fighting gear and be in the front courtyard in 15 minutes. K'nara you have the ring yes? Gunther, cat or no cat?

DM POST:::::

The fifteen minutes goes by quickly and Ingrge is the first ready to go and in the courtyard. Soon after the others show up and K'nara passes around the ring and finally the ring makes it back to her and they are soon in Plateau City where the red head pictured them being.

K'Nara
Tuesday February 24th, 2009 10:25:19 PM

K'Nara's hazel eyes roll at Lian's words, and sparkle at Ingrge's.

"Yes, Kalaraes," she agrees humorously, referring to the elder elf as "Grandfather". Then, once again, she turns to Argam. "Really, though--take the ring. Ingrge is definitely correct when he points out that it's much easier for us to coordinate our efforts if we each of us have one." The chestnut-maned warrior offers the ring to Argam once more, hoping that this time, the dwarf will accept it.

Once the matter is settled, K'Nara produces another ring, which she promptly puts on her finger.

"Yup, got the magic travellin' ring right here, Ingrge, sir!" she quips to the weapon mage. "Thinking of Sturtevent's place right now...I'll stuff my backpack and meet everyone in the courtyard!"

Lian
Wednesday February 25th, 2009 1:37:33 PM

"AH, no one can joke anymore!" He looks at Argam. "Really, they used to be alot more fun than this." He smirks. "Well, Knara did anyway... Ingrge has always been a stick in the mud."

Gunther,  d20+19=20 ;
Wednesday February 25th, 2009 6:19:59 PM

The warrior laughs at the playful banter. When asked about his cat, Gunther smiles. "Vell, I should probably vork vith Delilah in de cities. Sure...lets take her along. I can vork on her training, and if ve have to go den she'll be vith us."

As soon as they arrive in the city, Gunther activates his tattoo of Charm Animal, wanting to make double sure his dire lioness doesn't get too frisky and start munching on any of the local populace! (Handle Animal check if needed in a natural one...LOL!!)

Wednesday February 25th, 2009 10:12:41 PM

As the Emeralds suddenly appear at the front gate of Sturtevant palace, They surprise the squad of guards stationed there and Delilah, never one to like teleporting takes a partially palyful swat at one of them, knocking him flat on his back. Before they know it the Emeralds are facing an armed squad of Sturtevant's personal guards which have nearly surrounded them.

Gunther,
Wednesday February 25th, 2009 10:49:04 PM

Chuckling, the warrior puts a hand on Delilah's flank, while extending the other to the guard she knocked down. "Sorry friend. My kitty's just a little playful. She didn't mean to hurt you." Almost as an afterthought, Gunther adds "I'm Gunther of the Emerald Dragons. We were invited to have dinner with Meister Sturtevant."

As Gunther waits for the tensions to die down, and for K'nara to smooth things over like she's always able to do, Gunther "speaks" to Delilah through the wreathes of blue flowers on his and her heads. Any humanoids listening in hear the warrior purr and hiss at the big cat, but the enchanted flowers translate Gunther's words flawlessly. "Come Delilah, we don't want to upset these friends...besides, the metal wrappings they are in taste awful!"

K'Nara
Wednesday February 25th, 2009 11:53:08 PM

"Whoa, there, now..." K'Nara puts her hands up, clearly showing no weapons in them, "...sorry, sorry, sorry...surely you are all experienced enough to realize that the animals will sometimes act on instinct..? Delilah here was only playing a bit--her strength is such that, had she actually been attacking, she'd've killed the guard rather than knock him over. Please overlook her exuberance...and let the Lord High Mayor know that the Emerald Dragons have arrived."

Argam
Thursday February 26th, 2009 10:13:43 AM

Argam, still in a bit of shock as to how fast this group moves and works, simply tries to look like he belongs and that he knows what he's doing.

But as soon as he arrives, he's at home. He steps forward. "Cooney, there... "

He nearly said, "They're with me."

"Cooney, Come now! You can't help but know these heroes?."

He places his hand on the guard's shoulder in greeting.

"How's the gate? Still anchored in the stone properly?"

Lian
Thursday February 26th, 2009 5:03:54 PM

Lian disappears to his room. Everburning candles still glowing. He meditates for the remainder of the visit home.

DM POST

Tensions die quickly as Argam steps forward, appologies are proffered and the Emeralds are finally recognized. The weapons are put away but the guards do not move away from the gate nor to they usher you in.

The guard Agram greeted is obviously the one in charge and as he sees that the others are back to their posts and doing their jobs he comes back to the front of the Emeralds.

Cooney looks you all over, nods to Agram acknowledging him and raises an eyebrow, as if to ask him what he is doing with this crowd, and then and turns toward K'nara to address her.

"Madam, We are under explicit orders not to interupt the Lord Mayor until evening which, if I am not mistaken and according to my orders, is when you are expected for dinner. As it is just barely 10 bells in the morning, I can not nor am I willing to disturb the Lord Mayor for anything less than a full out assault on the third Plateau, and even then I might hesitate. Might I suggest you enjoy the town for the day, do some shopping and perhaps catch some of the late afternoon games at the Golden Arena in Gladiators Park."

K'Nara
Thursday February 26th, 2009 10:57:23 PM

(OOC: sigh. I can't have my character GO shopping until I know how much money she has.)

"Perhaps I should try to see about getting one of those...what are they called..?...pocket watch thingies..." K'Nara muses, pretty sure that she'd been hurried along to get the Emerald Dragons to Lord Mayor Sturtevant's and now here she was being told to wait.

Gunther,

Monday March 2nd, 2009 3:29:54 PM

K'nara, Sturtevant told us to come to Plateau City this morning, spend the day in the city and then have dinner with him. I say we go to the dragon Quater and Wander through Adventurer's square. Perhaps see the Circus quarter and Merchant quater and end the afternoon and early evening at Gladiator park as suggested. I guess the question is do we stay together or go our separate ways and meet up later.

K'Nara
Monday March 2nd, 2009 11:14:29 PM

"Just my faulty memory, Ingrge," the chestnut-maned human told the weapon mage, "But now that you put it that way, some sightseeing would be rather nice. How about it, everyone? We could tour the city a bit--as Ingrge has suggested--or do you all want to wander on your own..?"

Gunther, Charm Animal  d20+19=32 ;
Tuesday March 3rd, 2009 1:24:30 AM

Gunther grins at K'nara. "Trust me...I can tell de difference!" Taking up the bladesinger's hand, he smiles a dopey smile. "I vill go ver you lead, my lady." He calls to the dire lion by his side in growls and grunts only understood by the feline. "Let's get you some dinner. I bet they have some lovely cows you could snack on. Hey, and if you want, maybe you could teach the gladiators a thing or two!" (Handle Animal=32)

Argam
Tuesday March 3rd, 2009 3:47:07 AM

"Ahh, so to interpret it then, we come, spend our money in his city, then do his bidding tonight. It all comes clear. He needs us to be his local stimulus package.

"Oh, private dwarven joke. Sorry."

He waits to see where the group will go now.

K'Nara
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 12:49:35 AM

Since both the Lord High Mayor and Ingrge have made the excellent suggestion, K'Nara grins and nods.

"Well, then--it's off to the Circus..!" the human blade singer says, adding with a chuckle: "...Off to the Circus Quarter, that is! Let's go!" She immediately sets off for one of the most famous (or is that infamous?) sections of the city, with at least Gunther in tow.

Lian

"Well, that sounds like a plan."

Argam
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 4:49:29 PM

Argam follows along.

"Lots of trouble to be had anywhere in PCity. But the circus? I remember the time the clowns gave out poison candy to all the kids, randy candy to all the women, and impotence candy to all the men."

"I hate candy." He says this as if he'd just decided this was so.

"But then those clowns had their necks lengthened in a very satisfactory way."

DM POST

As the group finaly organizes, they decide to stay as a group and head off for a bit of time in the Circus Quarter.

As our heroes make their way down Cutlass Street in front of Strudevant's Castle and down to Guild Square, nothing truly out of the ordinary is noticed, although even the senior guild members seem to be going armed for some reason. As you walk along the Riverside Road to cross over the Guild Bridge to where is dumps you on Centaur Street, things seem calm, relaxed and even peaceful. As the group walks along toward Sealzo's Circus, Ingrge asks Gunther if he is going to check out Kat's Familiars, a well known animal and animal training center that is just up the road a bit.

While there is no actual performance going on at this moment, the hustle and bustle at Sealzo's is impressive. There are several buildings and several tents all of which seem to be filled with people working on or perfecting their particualr acts.

There are knife throwers throwing their varied, sized blades at spinning humanoid targets, several high wire acts, clowns, acrobats, and a number of animal acts including some funny lookling dressed up small dogs, though the person working with them looks a bit frazzled and is very red in the face. Argam seems to remember that the last timne he saw the dog act there were about 15 dogs and not the 8 there are now.

Of all the acts being rehearsed the animal acts seem to be going much less smoothly with several of the big cats acting out, horses shying at mysterious things and the dogs who just seem plain scared.

As Gunther and Delilah make their entrance they definitely garner some attention and very soo there is a very harried looking half-elf heading your way. He is about 5 feet tall long curly red hair and green eyes. He kind of looks like the younger of the two lions he and his assisstant we just working with.

"Ummmm, excuse me., but we can't allow outside animals on to the premises. they tend to make our animals and some of our people nervous. As I am sure you understand, we don't wnat anyone getting hurt because of a natural animal misunderstanding."

(OOC Rremember guys and gals, Ingrge is not going to be actively initiating action.)

K'Nara
Wednesday March 4th, 2009 6:17:52 PM

"Hmmm..." K'Nara hums, turning to Gunther, "...well, that sort of makes sense, I guess. Shall we just forget about touring the circus, then? Kat's Familiars sounds like it might be interesting for you...or we can skip that and go to the Gladiator Quarter. I think I remember an apothecary on the way there."

Lian
Thursday March 5th, 2009 11:52:22 AM

"Now we're only supposed to visit the circus?" Asks the hand of Domi.

Seeing all the acrobatics around him, Lian can't help himself and he begins walking on his hands.

Gunther, Charm Animal  d20+19=29 ;
Thursday March 5th, 2009 11:57:34 AM

Gunther taps his chin thoughtfully as he observes all the weird behavior around him. "Stay here." he purrs to Delilah. (Handle Animal=29). He turns to the half-elf. "De animals are around here are acting strange. Do you mind if I help you out for a little bit? I'll make sure dat my kitty stays out of de vay..." The warrior adds a quesiton almost as an afterthought. "Has anyting strange happened around here lately?"

Argam
Thursday March 5th, 2009 4:55:45 PM

As the group heads off to Kat's Familiars, Argam turns to the group and with a low voice says, "I may be loco, but I'm suspecting something more than just your animals causing nervousness among the circus lot. Circus animals are around strange people and animals all the time, I'd think. Plus, it seems that their animal popultation has grown smaller since the last time I was here.

"Anyone want to check it out further with me?"

He opens his belt pouch and pulls out two vials that looks like nothing is in them. He waves them slightly in an inviting manner and grins broadly.

K'Nara  d20+1=8 ;

Taking her cue from Gunther and from Argam's words, the leader of the Emerald Dragons glances around her with sharper hazel eyes. OOC: voluntary Spot check: 8)

"Well, I recall seeing the Guildmasters looking a bit more...armed...than usual..." she conceded to the dwarf, "...though that may have absolutely nothing to do with whatever my be bothering the circus folk."

Ingrge: AC 32, HP: 116/116, SR 18, Arcane Sight, See Invisibility
Thursday March 5th, 2009 11:14:05 PM

As the group begins to leave Gunther and Argam think about what they saw and bring it up with K'nara just as the they make it to the entry.

Gunther turns back after telling Delilah to stay and heads back in to chat with the half-elf. Delilah calmly lays down just to the side of the entry where she can keep an eye on Gunther and starts soaking up the sun.

K'nara thinks a moment about what the two told her and holds off departing for a moment as Gunther and Argam head back inside.

The half-elf looks a bit nervous as you come back in though his eyebrow raises in abit of surprise as he watches Gunther command Deliliah and her immediate response.

In response to Gunther's questions, the half elf is reticent but eventually answers.

Well I appreciate the offer but we do not need any help with opur training. We had some sort of large animal attack some of our friends last night. Tis why we are a bit nervous about your cat. Seven of our dogs, several monkeys and one of our small cays were killed last night and the other animal were set afright. They are not right yet. No sign of what they were as attacked or casused the comotion. No sign at all.

Argam  d20+1=14 ; d20+15=29 ;
Friday March 6th, 2009 10:39:39 AM

Argam, seeing the looks in everyone's eyes, decides acting on his own initiative is ok now.

"I'll look to see where they broke in. Can anyone track? Twould be difficult in a city, but even a set of tracks could help identify the beasts that did this."

And with that he takes a circuitous route to the river side of the circus and begins observing the structure for signs of a break in as he walks the perimeter. He also makes a spot check to see if anyone suspicious is hanging about observing things.

K'Nara  d20=6 ;

K'Nara stifles a sigh--Olana could track, but the elf wasn't here, she was with Milo.

"Let's poke around a bit, then, and see what we can see..?" The human blade singer looks around in an effort to find clues. (OOC: voluntary Search check 6 [OMG, she is totally sucking at these rolls!] ) When Lian remarks about the likelihood of Delilah getting stolen, she can't help but snort.

"I doubt that, Lian," K'Nara counters, "Gunther just told her to--" Then a bit of inspiration seems to strike the leader of the Emerald Dragons.

"Told her...hmmmm...say--does anyone here have any spells that allow them to talk to animals..?" K'Nara asks of her group eagerly. "Perhaps simply getting eyewitness accounts can possibly give us a clue as to what happened..."

Argam heads off to the river side to see what he can see in the way of sings of break-in walking the perimeter of the building. No one suspicious is spotted, but then what does a suspicious city person look like these days. He has a little more luck with the the large white-domed building, although that may have been more to chance than anything else. Taking a moment to stretch his back and nec a bit after watching the ground while he walked, he tilts his head backward and catches a glimpse, out of the corner of his eye, of something about a third of the way up the along the curved roof.

Looking around at the fighter, hand and mage left with her, Knara realizes that only she, with her bard training could have had that spell, other than Olanna, and Athalorn of course. The half-elf clears his throat after she speaks and says.

"Well now perhaps I can be of service. Well not me exactly, but one our trainers. Shall I send for him?"

Though hard to tell, Argam is fairly sure that what he sees is a long shank of russet brown hair or fur of about 10 inches in length. as he discovers nothing else during his investigation other than the fact that he misses Gella, he heads back to report to K'nara and the others.

Moments after The 1/2 elf sends off a runner to get someone who can cast a speak with animals spell, a halfling shows up, a bit out of breath and frazzled looking.

"Yes, Boss. You needed me for something?.....

As the 1/2 elf pulls him aside to speak with him you only hear one side of the conversation but it is an interesting half.

"You want me to do what? With that? It looks like it hasn't eaten in a week. I mean really....
.....

Well, yes. I mean, of course I can. I am after all a Troublefinder. And if Bill can talk to a trout and make sense of it thaen well, I can face down being breakfast to an untrained cat."

The halfling seesm to take a deep breath and walks over to stand nearly toe to toe with Gunther.

So I am to understand that the cat is yours, yes? Good you make sure it doesn't eat me and I will ask what you want. Now then what is it you want me to ask? "

When the fellow asks what Gunther wants him to ask Delilah, the warrior roars in laughter. "No, no, no...you misuderstand. Ve need you to talk to de circus animals." Gunther points at the pale blue wreath of flowers on his and Delilah's heads. "I can already talk vith her..." The bulky cat trainer snuggles up with the dire lion (Handle Animal=21). Tuesday March 10th, 2009 1:07:02 PM

Argam heads back to the group. He waits patiently lettting the others know that he's found something.

He pulls them aside, because he can't but help thinking that the circus may not be innocent in all this.

"I found hair. Long and stringy."

He takes the group over to where the strand of hair is.

"Can anyone do anything with that? Should we climb up and see what else is up there? Look for any minor structural damage?"

"I'm free," she tells him, "Let's go see what you've found." When the pair get to where the shank of hair/fur happens to be snagged on the building (assuming it's still there), K'Nara's eyebrows elevate.

"Good work, Argam!" she says emphatically. "And...let's see if I can do this without having to climb up there..." The human blade singer mutters an arcane phrase and flicks her hand in the direction of the clue, casting a minor spell that will definitely come in handy if it works. OOC: K'Nara rolled a 72 for her Spell Failure check--that beats her 5% chance to fail, so the spell is successfully cast. OUTSIDE

K'nara heads off with Argam to check out what he found, while the others deeal with the very confused halfling.

K'nara is fairl sure that the hair is withn the range of her spell though it is going to be pretty close. She casts her spell and inches forward a few feet to be as close as possible and in mere moments the tuft of hair is in her hand.

The hair is reddish brown, coarse and kind of greasy and doesn't look like it has been ever cleaned or bathed. in fact when bropugth up close to the nose the hair down right reeks.

INSIDE

Ingrge looks to Lian, Yeah I remember Kendry too, but I was thinking of Bill of Windhorn Hamlett. This guy is nothing like those two. Wow.

The halfing looks confused for a moment as Gunther tells him what he wants as obviously he was under the impression that something else was wanted. Then he hears the whispered comments about Kendry and Bill and turns a bit red in the face.

Yes well I may not be as brave as they are but, I am gopod at what I do.

As for speaking with the animals that were involved in the altercation, there is nothing I can do about that as they are all dead or eaten. As for the others, they couldn't tell me much, other than whatever it was, was big, fast and vicious. Oh and unlike any other animal they had ever encountered, and yet not quite animal-like at all. Like I said it was a mish mash of impressions

K'Nara

"C'mon, Argam," K'Nara says, harrumphing at the mystery hair in her hand, "Let's go show this to the others...I hope somebody in the group can tell who...or what...may have left this here." The leader of the Emerald Dragons trots off towards the place where the rest of the party were.

"Hey, guys...look what Argam found..!" the chestnut-maned blade singer announces as she returns to the area occupied by the Emerald Dragons. She holds out the greasy, noisome hank of hair, once more hoping that somebody can identify it.

"Knara, why are you carrying that clump of hair?"

Gunther thanks the halfling for his time and lets him return to his business. When K'nara returns, Gunther smiles, a small inkling of an idea coming to his tiny mind. "K'nara, could you bring dat hair here?"

The warrior turns to Delilah and begins to scratch her massive neck as he speaks to her through the magically enchanted flowers on his head. "That's a good girl! How about we have some fun and try and track down whoever left this hair." (Handle Animal=nat. 20)

OOC: Kent, basically I'd like to have Delilah try and locate the creature that left the hair by scent.

Argam quaffs a potion (Levitation) and begins to float up slowly holding on to the building as he rises. He searches for more evidence where the hair was and rising on up above that to the top and over, down the other side.

Gunther dismisses the halfling, K'nara returns with her hair, leaving Argam to investigate the dome a bit more closely, while Lian and Ingrge discuss Troublefinders.

inside

Bringing the hair to Delilah's face gets a reaction that Gunther did not expect and only through his quickness is he able to avoid losing his entire arm as Delilah goes into full attack mode raking her claws down Gunther's arm (12 points) and ripping the hairs out of his grasp as he avoids being crushed by her as she attacks.

Ingrge, K'nara and Lian are possibly more stunned than Gunther and stand there for a moment trying to absorb what is going on and looking at Gunther for an explanation.

------

Up on the rooooooof.........

checking thingsout further, Argam discovers several things.

First he finds where whatever entered the building as he looks down through a hole in the roof, where he actually sees the activity below happening. A bit surprising that neither he nor any of the other Emeralds noticed it from the inside.

Second there are bloody hand prints along the edges as if someone were climbing out or hanging on the edge of the opening.

And finally but possible more oddly about ten feet from the edge of the roof he finds what can only be a very large bloody paw print.

K'Nara's hand flashes out and snatches up Lucia, the blade singer readying to keep Gunther safe from his suddenly-insane lion.

"Gunther!" barks the warrior woman. "What's gotten into her???"

As a reaction to the attack, without thinking, Lian attempts a stun on her, without causing actual damage. (AC 41, for 12 SUBDUAL DAMAGE!!, Fort save DC 26 or be stunned for a round)

He looks apologetically at Gunther.

"Hey down there? What's goin on?" Argam shouts through the hole.

He watches prepared to float down if needed. He waits patiently for things to develop below before adding his information to the mix.

He is careful not to mess with the prints and blood.

He glances down to see who is watching him.

He examines the hole a bit closer. "I wonder what broke through this and how they did it?

The warrior puts his hands up toward K'nara and Lian, gesturing for them to back away. He even blocks LIan's way. "No...don't...she's scared, dat's all. Someting about dat hair.." She didn't hurt me. Hands up, Gunther makes his way slowly toward the dire lioness. (Handle Animal=27). "Easy girl...easy..." Slowly making his way toward her, Gunther speaks slowly and calmly. "Vat's wrong girl...vat's got you so upset?"

As he works with the big cat, Gunther mutters under his breath. "What in the world would make a kitty act like dat?! Dis is not goot...not goot."

Delilah doesn't want to be calmed down, but once moved away from the hair she begins to settle some.

From above you hear Argam's voice and call but when you look up you see nothing there, and yet....

Ingrge also looking up scratches his chin for a moment and then sighs, hey guys I think that Argam has found how your intruders entered. There is a big hole in the roof that has been very skillfully been hidden by magic.

Lian

INGRGE

Ingrge looks at lian and nods, Lian you want to collect the hair then and keep it from being touched by too many more things or people and I will scry with it later. Right now I think Argam has found something he wants one of us to check out. So why don't I just head on up and see what's up, so to speak. That said he activates his boots and is soon up there chatting with their new dwarf cleric.

Lian collects the nasty hairs, while Gunther continues to bleed and calm Delilah. The circus folk all seem to have disappeared about the time Deliliah went volcanic, though one or two poke out their heads as Argam and Ingrge talk about the hole in the roof.

Ingrge makes it to the hidden hole to see what Argam has found and using some parchment from his pocket takes a print of the two sticky blood prints. Commenting that these might aid in the scrying as well. While Argam is showing him what he found Ingrge turns to the dwarf. "Nice job finding this, but what do you make of the prints, where is the missing roof material and where did the blood come from?

Now that the lioness is a bit more calm, Gunther tries once more to talk to her through his wreaths. "Delilah, what's got you so upset?" The warrior looks genuinely worried about the big cat, seeing as she has never reacted in such a strange manner before.

K'Nara
Wednesday March 18th, 2009 11:45:41 PM

K'Nara feels next to useless--she can't talk to animals and she didn't know a magically-hidden hole in the roof from a hank of hair. She waits to see if Gunther's communication with Delilah can yield some answers.

Argam  d20+15=33 ; d20+15=29 ;

Argam shrugs. "Dunno. A better question is can I resist the mighty urge to fix this hole for awhile since it is evidence."

Then he gives his trademark "toothy grin" for just a second.

"My guess is that it fell down there and someone in the circus picked it up hiding the evidence. We find that and we might find who in the circus is making an inside job look like an outside attack for no reason.

"Seems like a mighty difficult entrance point too. Why would someone want to bring themselves and an attack beast up here to enter the circus? Why not through the gate or some back door?"

Argam continues around the dome since he's up there to see if there is anything else of interest. He looks for the broken piece of dome roofing as he goes and thinks.

Hair, prints and blood all collected, Agram can't seem to find the missing roof piece anywhere on his inspection of the dome. He puts forth his idea of perhaps and inside job while Ingrge listens and gets ready to descend.

Lian collects and packages the hair while K'nara looks on.

Gunther finally get delilah calmed down but all she seesm to want to do is apologize for hurting Gunther. In fact almost any time Gunther tries to bring up what happened and or the hair Delilah gets all twitchy and anxious.

After about a 30 minute final inspection of the premises, notyhing new is found, the inside job theory is presented to the1/2 elf in order for him to look out for the roof piece and or anyone acting out of the ordinary.

The group is back together and waiting...

K'Nara
Friday March 20th, 2009 12:11:10 AM

"Whatever it is has got to be extremely nasty for a lion to act that way about just a hank of hair," K'Nara says, frowning. "But it's really weird--I can't think of anything that would go through all the trouble of breaking into the circus just to get a snack...there are far easier targets all over the city." The blade singer shakes her head.

"I hate puzzles..." she mutters with a sigh, then turns to the others, "...the circus is a bust, too, it seems...shall we try Gladiator Park..?"

Argam
Friday March 20th, 2009 12:31:57 AM

"Not a puzzle maam. Tis a mystery. And mysteries need to be solved, unless its a Red Herring."

"Hey half-elf. What's your name? Sorry, but I missed the introductions. I'm Argam the Fixer. If we're leaving, I'll come back later to fix your roof. If you can get ahold of some of that material the dome is made of, it will take me less Woldsblood to fix it."

And with that he moves to leave with the group, since that seems to be K'nara's intention.

DM POST

The next few hours pass quickly and quietly as the group wanders and shops waiting for the afternoon games at gladiator park to begin. At midday the group wander in to the Flying Monkey Tavern after having spent a delightful visit in Kat's Familiars, where Gunther had some ammazing conversations aboiut animal training and the such with the owner Kat.

Lunch passes by quickly and uneventfully and it almost seems as though you are truely on an afternoon's pleasure junket.

Lunch over, Our heroes make their way to the arena to watch the warm up matches and then the afternoons fight card. It seems as though the Chancer's Club has come up with a new past time of wagering through planned combats where you are ranked and then win or lose points and standing as you beat or lose to stronger or weaker foes in any number of different combat categories. The group wanders through the different combats and contests, wagering a bit here and a bit there as trhey see fit and while they don't lose any money they don't win much either.

It is coming close to 4 PM and the grand combat is about to begin where two groups of thirty combatants work together to defeat the other group and then fight to find out who the best of the best is.

The two groups are kind of motly looking, one being a mixture of rough looking dwarves and humans and the other being a mix of 1/2 elves and 1/2 orcs.

At exactly 4, there is a loud trumpet blast and the spectator shield goes up, setting up a magical protection for the spectators from physical and magical harm. The referees and medics in place the central flag drops and the combat is begun.

From the outset it looks like the dwarves and the humans are working together more effectively and several of the other side are quickly eliminated and removed from the field. Then for a while things seem to stalemate as no side can seem to get an advantage over the other when suddenly the ground underneath a group of dwarves opens up and drops them into a morass of mud, which almost as immediately solidifies back again effectively trapping them up to their shoulders.

After that it is just mop up at the final elves and orcs pick off the others and then begin on each other. About two hours later the final one on one combat between the last 1/2 elf and the last 1/2 orc is completed and the 1/2 orc is declared victorious. Awards and cash are handed out to the participants, bets are settled and the barricade is once again dropped. The day at the park is over.

Dusk is fast approaching and the dinner hour is only about an hour away. Our heroes are chatting as they walk back toward Sturdevant's when the hear several screams and some loud growls coming from just ahead in a corner of the park.

Argam
Monday March 23rd, 2009 11:30:51 PM

He runs towards the combat stopping as soon as the mobs are in sight to let the tanks move forward while he assesses the situation.
