Fixers are Sent For (DM Cayzle) Tuesday March 17th, 2009 1:22:38 AM
The party makes it clear that Fixers will be needed. The acting Underlord nods, and sends word to the Overlord.
"While we wait," Jonas says, "Tell me what you have accomplished."
What will you tell him?
While waiting for the Fixers to arrive, you have time to further peruse the notes and books the Gaalians left behind. The paladin's touch does not cure the disease. It seems likely that only Heal spells will work, or maybe other similar and more esoteric magics, like Wish. Witches have some cleansing spells that might do the trick.
As for one who is actually undead? The only choice is to destroy the undead, cast Heal on the corpse, and then Raise Dead. If all that is done immediately, if might be possible that you would not even have to bargain with Great Gargul. But if the undead has been destroyed for a time, then you would.
In about three hours, the Fixers will arrive. Any other action before then?
Wynn/ Sub Buzz Tuesday March 17th, 2009 11:11:00 AM
Wynn is unsure if Jonas should know about the books they found with the knowledge. He waits for some clue from the others on if this knowledge should be shared or not.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Tuesday March 17th, 2009 11:20:31 AM
Impossible to divert his attention, Brahmah asks a very logical question. "Well, what if the undead you slay, heal, then raise doesn't want to return, knowing they have been part of horrors unbecoming their living character? They might be remorseful and some might actually need to atone, like a paladin or some such. Then, say, can you rightfully convict them of a murder they committed while they themselves were dead themselves? Seems mighty irresponsible."
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Tuesday March 17th, 2009 9:57:03 PM
The halfling cleric considers how to answer Jonas' question. There is the simple, direct approach and a more subtle approach and the question, Belkior thinks, is how to respond. Unfortunately, there is neither time nor place for him to relax and pray to Alemi for additional spells. If there was, he could pray for some healing spells that are nearly sure to remove the infection spread by these created undead.
Belkior closes the book that he has been reading and moves away from the table. Hopefully, Harley has taken the opportunity to retain the magical book. In fact, it might be interesting for the Shields to try to hold on to all of these books for later use. But now the Paragon must speak to Jonas.
"Simply put, we came down here and defeated the undead. You see the bodies of these poor unfortunates all around this chamber and probably on the path here, as well. We also drove off the clerics that initiated this problem."
"Please tell me ... do you know if any Undercrat has had dealings with the clerics of Ga'al?"
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Tuesday March 17th, 2009 10:44:53 PM

Florin Jadenth AC:28/30 vs Undead HP:104/134 (2points of it subdual) Tuesday March 17th, 2009 11:16:45 PM
Florin pats Wynn's shoulder after trying to heal him, "Sorry it didn't help but it was worth a try." Florin was hopeing to releive some of Wynn's worries considering his loss of Xenia.
Florin glances towards Brahmah and smiles abit at his comment, "Actually Brahmah if I'm any proof of the matter, I don't believe any paladin would of been infected, maybe killed but not infected. I have been injured by those creatures and of yet have noticed no ill sign of it. However I do agree with your comment and was the same thing I said to my friends too, with the things these people have done, it is quite possible that they would not want to be brought back. For instance, who among us would really want to be brought back to find you might of killed your friends, family and such."
Florin glances to Belkior and smiles saddly to him, "I'm sorry if it seems I'm being abit disreguarding of life and such, just to me seems more humane to allow them to rest in peace in the end. We should save the ones who can be saved though, the ones not completely turned and go from there."
Florin will approach whichever member has found the Woldsblood vials and speaks in a whisper to him, "If you do not mind I would like to pocket one of those vials to give to the Temple of Domi once we return."
Florin is also curious of something so speaks to Jonas, "I'm curious about this mind erase too and have a small question. With the machinery aside of course, if we wanted to ask say the temple about the Woldsblood or it's workings and such. Will we remember it? Or even info from anything we might of read down here as long as it doesn't concern the machinery and such as that? For instance I would like to keep the knowledge of these undead just incase we would run into them again one day."
Syr Ac 35/34 HP 142 Wednesday March 18th, 2009 1:14:53 AM
Syr looks at Jonas and pauses before replying, "I think you have a bigger problem to worry about. Belkior is on the right path. How did these clerics of Ga'al gain access to here? We had to consent to a wipe and have seen your impressive security measures around this place. The secrets here, must be guarded carefully. Have you determined who on the inside was assisting them? and for that matter how that person got around the magic compelling service?"
Wynn/ Sub Buzz Wednesday March 18th, 2009 1:01:47 PM
Wynn is grateful to the paladin for his attempt, but the memory of Xenia, like a knife, is driven deeper into his soul at the mention of her name.
The many nights under the stars they spent together returns to his mind. The taste of her lips on his. Her sighs of comfort as she nuzzles herself against his neck.
Shaking his head, he brings himself back to the present with an attempt to take in the conversation in order to contribute as he can.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Wednesday March 18th, 2009 1:23:24 PM
"I didn't realize it had already been said." He looks confused, briefly. "Well, its good to know a paladin can't be infected."
Answers From A Seer, and Fixers Arrive (DM Cayzle) Wednesday March 18th, 2009 5:16:35 PM
Jonas rolls his eyes. "Is this all you have to tell me? What I can see play as day here tells me more. Feh."
He turns to an underling. "Shelik, see if you can talk to them. I want a look at that!" he points to the pool of Woldsblood, then walks off toward it.
The small, weasily, nervous man looks at you. "I -- I -- I am a seer. A diviner. I was the one who knew you had succeeded, the very moment you had defeated the invaders. The invaders here, I mean."
He addresses what you have said one by one, keeping track by counting on his fingers as he talks to you:
To Brahmah: "In the Floating City and in New Elenna, crimes committed by one who has been raised from the dead tend to be handled by the Justicars of Pantheon, in the Ecclesiastic Courts. But in general, only the monied or favored are raised, and for them, an atonement spell is usually not a considerable expense."
To Belkior: "The Undercrat, gods rest his soul, never consorted with the minions of Ga'al! No, such as that never were welcome in the Undercity. Why do you ask?"
To Florin: "Those of us who have labored for many years in the Undercity perforce lose almost all that we have experienced when our service is over and we return to the City Above. You, however, will not lose so much. You will forget any machine you have seen. You will forget the layout of this place, and the details of its appointments. You will remember your mission, and your enemies, and your battle, mostly. But anything that would relate to the workings of the Undercity you must lose."
To Syr: "It is good that you ask how the enemy arrived. But it was not through treachery, if so you might think. The enemy created this eruption of Woldsblood, here in the hart of the Undercity, and its spray and flow ruined many of us in our first trial. We were forced back, and we vacated this part of the Undercity."
Then there is a flurry of sudden activity. The control room is draped off, so that someone standing at the center would be unable to see the machinery. Then a group of five people in robes, cowls, and blindfolds are brought in by an escort of Undercrats. You see that one of the five is your old friend Theo! The five are led to the Woldsblood pool, and you are ushered there too. More black drapes are brought in, so that when at last the new arrivals are unblindfolded, all they can see is the Woldsblood pool.
The Undercrats are nervous, and the seer reveals in a whisper to you that in the interest of expediency, these worthy clerics and the Overlord's representative have been brought here to seal the crater and close the pool of Woldsblood, returning this place to its former state. Most of all, these have not agreed to forget their memories, but so be it. That's why they are not allowed to see anything other than the place they have to fix.

The slender mage wears a ridiculous brimmed hat on which a raven rests. The bird stirs and peers about before closing his lids again.
After a few moments, Theodore notices his friends standing nearby. "Oh, hello, guys. I hope that you're all well!" He grins foolishly. "Everything all right?"

"Here. Thanks for letting us carry it."
Then Belkior reaches up to embrace the mage and whispers to him. "Can you Identify this?"
After greeting Theodore, Belkior turns to watch the Undercrats and the others brought in to deal with the pool of Woldsblood.
"Any idea how long this will take? I'd like to be here, just in case you know, since the Ga'alians escaped through that thing. If there's time, I'd like to pray to Alemi in case my healing abilities are needed again."

I mean, if someone would say jump in would it kill them, drive them mad, or what?" Florin has heard stories of Woldsblood growingup but considering those were childhood stories to more make him go to sleep, he wonders how much of what he knows is true, "Maybe I should ask Theo sometime."

As Jonas stalks towards the pool, the elf's eyes narrow keeping a close eye on the man. Muttering to Florin next to him, "A tiger can't change his spots" before grinning briefly. The elf can't resist the urge to tweak the Undercrat, "Hey Jonas, you do realize that we don't report to you, right?"
His brow furrows in doubt, at Shelik's remark, "So then they can create a pool anywhere? That doesn't sound right, does it Wynn? What's to stop them from doing it again?"
It's in the 'Blood (DM Cayzle) Friday March 20th, 2009 11:43:43 AM
Theo greets his friends.
Belkior gives him the magical book, and, at a glance, Theo can detect an aura of Strong Evocation.
Florin wonders about this magical substance, Woldsblood. What is it? How dangerous is it?
Wynn shares what he knows about Woldsblood -- OOC: Everyone, please read that link.
Certainly, Woldsblood pulls at your soul -- something Mac and Syr experienced firsthand. If you dived into this pool? Somehow the Ga'alians managed it, but odds are your soul could get pulled right out of your body.
Syr greets Theo and tweaks Jonas. The acting overlord laughs. "I won't waste witty words on you, since you will not remember them anyway."
Syr wonders if a pool like this could erupt anywhere. The undercrat seer, Shelik, comes over, bringing the leader of the priests. Theo may introduce him as Father Bransis, an elderly but sturdy Fixer, one of the strongest, just teleported in from Plateau City.
The priest says that he has a theory, but he will not say what it is, seeing as he has not agreed to the memory erasure, and he does not want to say too much. But he thinks the vulnerability to this kind of attack was local, and that there is little danger that Woldsblood eruptions will happen in other places.
"I have not seen any other attacks like this coming," says the seer. "And I've asked."
"But more to the point," Father Bransis continues, "We have a big work ahead of us, and we will need to tune our skills to their highest pitch. Can you help us?"
OOC: He is saying that he and the others have some tough Concentration checks to make, and anything you all can do to boost their skills would be much appreciated.

"The others can speak for themselves. As near as we can tell, powerful healing magic should work. Unfortunately, I have nearly expended all of the magical energy granted by Alemi and I can do nothing more today."

It would be a great help to test out our theory."
Florin thinks and smiles abit, he knows that this must be quite a strain if any of the fixers have the spell too considering the powers they just used, "I'm a servant of Domi but he and Alemi have a good standing. I can offer a small donation for now in return. I know thats not much but I have little else to offer for now other then my thanks and the ability to help if something would come up in the future that I could aid you with."
Healing the Disease (DM Cayzle) Tuesday March 24th, 2009 4:21:22 PM
After the Fixers are done, they meet near the party. Jonas is very eager to hear about a cure.
Wynn and Belkior say that the greater healing magics seem to cure the disease.
Brahmah says that the Fixers are the ones who can deal with this. Florin too asks them if they can use the healing magic that might remove the disease.
Belkior says that he can try tomorrow.
Syr clearly would prefer not to deal with Jonas at all.
At Florin's request, the head Fixer -- Father Bransis -- says that he can cast a Heal spell, though the others of his fellowship are not advanced enough yet to do so.
He walks over to Jonas, but before he casts the spell, he says, "Wait! what is this?"
For the dark lines on Jonas's skin, the signs that the roots of the undead heartseed have been spreading through his body, are fading. In fact, as the party watches, they fade away entirely.
Jonas calls for the seer, "Shelik! Shelik, what do you see?"
Shelik looks at Jonas, and then throws some divination sticks to the ground. He inspects the pattern of their fall. "The danger rooted in the blood is gone!" he announces.
In fact, it becomes clear that with the healing of the crater, the disease has been eliminated too.
Wynn [AC=26; HP=68/75] Tuesday March 24th, 2009 5:49:56 PM
Wynn is relieved by the disappearance of the disease in Jonas and presumably himself, but he finds littel to be joyful about. Xenia has disappeared and all he can think is that she was sucked into the Woldsblood and the Shadowlands. His last visit there did not go well and they had left comrades behind. The last broken message had only revealed to him that she lived. The bard also voiced his concerns about where the Gaalians clerics had vanished to. "Where did they go? Are they like the witches that have found some refuge in Gargul's realm?

Belkior quietly speaks to Wynn while conducting the examination, pitching his voice so that hopefully only the bard can hear.
"Wynn ... we all worry about her. And you, too."
"I can only guess at how you feel about Xenia but I'm not so blind that I can't tell that you love her deeply. Maybe, just like these Ga'alians, she is somewhere else. If you want to search for her, count me in if you'll have me. I'll be there beside you no matter what we might face."

Wynn asks where the Ga'alian clerics went. Shelik answers him: "The omens say they have flown South for the Winter. What that means, I don't know."
Belkior confirms that the disease is gone from those who were infected.
Jonas grins widely at that. "Best work you guys have done ever! Now we just have to erase the memory of how much you have helped me, more's the pity."
Syr offers the priests the books. Jonas scowls, but does not interfere.
When Theo says he hopes the party will fill him in, an undercrat looks at Jonas and steps forward. "I m sorry. No. You all are not allowed to share your story with this wizard until after the memory proceduce. In fact, I must now ask the wizard to return to the Overlord to report, and the rest of you to travel with me now to the Temple of Flower for the procedure."
"That's right," gloats Jonas. "No telling of secrets. When we meet again, you won't remember me telling you all just how you were putty in my hands, doing my bidding like lackeys, and serving my purposes perfectly. Pity, that." And he laughs.
Brahmah asks what is next -- do any of you have any last words for the Fixers or Jonas? Will you g along with the undercrat for erasure of your memories -- except Theo. Will Theo return to the Overlord to complete his report?

Theo is brought to the Overlord's court. He is seated with a scribe who will transcribe the wizard's report.
The rest are taken to the Temple of Flower. There they are shown to low couches, where they are encouraged to rest. Several priests wearing grey flower masks tend to any wounds that are still unhealed. Your gear is cleaned, your heads annointed, and you are given simple but delicious water and wine, fruits and small cakes.
Then, one by one, you are set to sleep, and your memories are erased.
However, all of your experiences are not gone when you awake. You do not recall the machinery or layout of the Undercity at all. You do not recall the traps or the strange devices. You do not recall the rooms or passages.
You do recall fighting the enemy clerics and undead (but not the animated machinery). You recall the Woldsblood pool and the defeat of the enemy. You recall what you learned about the disease and its cure.
You still recall the undercrats, including Jonas. But some details of the conversations are fuzzy.
Florin's sister is among those at the Temple who greet you, and she says that she has sent word to Ivy.
When you are all done, you are invited to appear before the overlord (including Theo). When you arrive, you are prepared by attendants who groom you, trimming hair and nails, even going so far as to offering newer and more stylish clothing. When you finally meet the Overlord, you find her eager to hear all you can tell.
Do you tell her anything in particular? What do you tell her?
She informs you that with the Underlord dead, there will soon be new elections. She hopes to be re-elected. She asks if you will help "campaign' for her, working with bards and appearing as heroes at rallies.
She then says that she has rewards for each of you. She has the following gifts from which you can each pick one.
+3 halberd
+1 holy long sword
+3 ring of protection
A NG Intelligent Hat of Disguise that can cast Major Image once per day and Glibness once per day. (If you pick this, the Hat has to approve you and you cannot sell it.)
Cloak of Arachnida
Belt of Dwarvenkind
+3 Ring of Protection
Ring of Wizardry Level 1
+2 Dex Ioun Stone and +2 Con Ioun Stone
A Luckstone
A small chest with 1,600 pp (everyone may take one of these for his reward in place of a magic item)
To expedite things, she also gives you a wand of Identify with 26 charges in it. You use six of the charges to discover the following:
Magic Book (strong evocation) Tome of Wisdom +5 six vials of Woldsblood Two suits magic plate armor, +1, sized for medium people Two magic large shields +1 Wand of inflict serious wounds, 30 charges left
==========
OOC: Thanks everybody. This concludes the module. Please note the following:
1. You may visit the Catacombs. 2. Everyone is up a level. I'll give exact xp next week. 3. Would you like some down time to attend to life details, research things, make things, train, etc etc? Not more than a real life week? Shorter? 4. PLEASE send me nominations for hero points and RP awards. Thanks!
Cayzle, is the Hat a a FATE item? Or Legacy item? Jay B~
Cayzle: It is an Intelligent item, and I think the CC cannot buy or sell those. That makes it a Fate Item. Note that a Legacy Item is tied to a particular PC as a reward for DMing or ADMing, and it gains in power with character level. This is not a Legacy Item.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Friday March 27th, 2009 11:11:38 AM
"I'm not sure how this group handles treasure distribution. However, I will say, I'm in need of a better ring and have a +1 ring I can toss on the pile. I could also use a belt. And anything that can improve combat and armor... although, to be honest, I have a +5 armor. I only have a +2 cloak too. That said, I will wait for my turn. I realize I'm new and need to earn a place and say within the group." He smiles kindly and waits.
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Friday March 27th, 2009 7:53:20 PM
"...and I'll wait until last, for much the same reasons. Can someone tell me if I'm guessing right here - if you want the belt or cloak, you might still have coins left if you took a small chest to the Catacombs for one instead. That aside, the weapons are nice, but I'm not interested in them. I already have a +2 ring, so they and the other ring don't interest me so much either. So I'm still tossing up between the Iouns, the Luckstone, or a small chest of my own. I'll see what's left..."
And aloud to Horace he adds, "And we have to report in."
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Friday March 27th, 2009 10:12:18 PM
The halfling cleric looks up in surprise when the results of the magical identification are announced. Some of the items sound promising, but the book is what really captures Belkior's attention. With a glance across at Syr, the Paragon speaks up.
"Of course, I would deeply appreciate a chance to study that book. But if someone else wishes it, we can discuss."
"The rings of protection are interesting, too, but I could make similar if I had sufficient time. How about we discuss this as we get out things together?"
OOC - Let's take this to e-mail to speed things along. I will send the e-mail, hoping that I have current e-mail addresses for everyone.
Speaking of which, can people include their name and e-mail address on the Google Docs version of the character sheet?
Cayzle - what is the current membership of the Shields with the departures? Is Harley still in?
Syr Ac 35/34 HP 142 Saturday March 28th, 2009 3:13:47 AM
He looks at Wynn's sad eyes and puts a comforting shoulder around him, "Why don't you take the Hat and the Identify Wand? The hat looks like something you could hold on to for Xenia and ..." His voice drops to a whisper, "I don't know if Theo is gonna flake out on us again so we can't entrust him with the wand." With a final pat,
"You heard the lady fellas, Theo I see a ring there with your name all over it." As the others mill around examining the items he comments, "Of course we wouldn't mind helping you. You've kept a study hand on the Float's tiller during it's most trying times. Besides, it never hurts to make new friends. Wynn there has the best voice you've ever heard. You should commission him to create a song for the campaign."
His ears twitch when he hears Mac speak, "'Report in?' You didn't tell us you two were married? Do we get to meet the lucky ladies?"
Sighing looks down thoughts drifting to building, "I've been away too long, a little downtime to take care of the business would be perfect."
Loot aside, what about the Overlord? (DM Cayzle) Saturday March 28th, 2009 8:48:12 AM
Although the attractions of treasure are great, especially for those who have seen little enough reward lately, nonetheless there are other duties to attend to.
What do you report to the Overlord about what happened!?
And what do you say to her request that you help her re-election effort in the coming vote?
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Saturday March 28th, 2009 1:58:17 PM
Brahmah is not obligated to this 'overlord' for any vote.
He waits until loot is decided, but hopes for a fair share, though his role in the fight seemed less than adequate.
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Saturday March 28th, 2009 7:32:48 PM
Mac smiles at Syr*. "I can't speak for Horace on the matter, but I'm not married - no. I mentioned when you found us - thanks again by the way - that we were sent here by The League to see what was going on here, and to confirm if their concerns were warranted. We may have helped deal with the problem for the moment, but I think a broader problem remains unresolved. Where did the priests go? makes for an interesting closing question in our report."
Mac shifts weight from hoof to hoof. "That said, once the report is made, my time is pretty much my own again. It has been an honor fighting alongside the Crimson Shields, and if you have use for my skills it would continue to be an honor. That means finding a WLA office, or Horace here reading one or both of his scrolls. In the latter case whoever goes may not be returning quickly. Do you have a WLA office in your city?" It should be clear to some that 'the Float' hasn't registered with Mac as the name of a place.
* Smile is an awfully big assumption, what with the teeth and everything else, but on this occasion the assumption is correct
Florin Jadenth AC:28/30 vs Undead HP:104/134 (2points of it subdual) Sunday March 29th, 2009 4:00:29 PM
Florin listens to what is said and then will go about telling the Overlord some about the undead and such if thats what she is wishing to know about, also of the woldsblood used to create the undead and the disease. He will mention that a watch for Ga'al servants she be watched for also since he still isn't sure if this is the full end of it, moreless doing the better safe then sorry thing.
Florin glances to the others after giveing the report and speaks up, "Once we are done here and such I hope we might beable to meet up for a drink at the GG or such. I for one could use one with all that has happened." Florin glances to Brahmah since he has seen the taur in the GG a couple times and spoken to him before, "A big guy like you wouldn't mind atleast one drink would ya?" Florin smiles abit, "However before that I should report in with Ivy and see how she is and how Jella is doing also." Florin thinks and looks to the Overlord, "I would be glad to help you out also,"
Florin thinks and glances to Syr, "Speaking of Jella I better get her some type of present to return home with,"
(OOC:Florin would prefer atleast alittle down time for rp and such purposes. Also gives alittle bit for character sheet reworking and buying/selling, etc.)
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Sunday March 29th, 2009 5:19:25 PM
"Wait, the WLA. I have to go report too. And to the church too. Almost forgot."
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Sunday March 29th, 2009 10:54:45 PM
The halfling cleric shuffles his feet when the Overlord mentions making some appearances on her behalf. Belkior has never been one for being front and centre and standing on a stage, even with his friends and companions beside him, is more than he would contemplate. However, if enough of his companions choose to do so, he will be there with them.
Brahmah is curious about the hat, but it seems too interesting for him.
The Grateful Overlord (DM Cayzle) Monday March 30th, 2009 5:28:54 PM
Mac wonders where the clerics went. But on reflection, he recalls that they accompanied you back to the upper levels of the Floating City and then went to the Temple of Alemi.
[OOC: Sorry, forgot to mention that. Thanks for keeping me honest.]
Brahmah and Mac declare their intent to report to the WLA.
Florin volunteers to stand up for the Overlord, and Alicia smiles and is obviously glad. Belkior is a little shy in front of crowds, it seems -- maybe that's one reason the halflng serves his god as an adventurer rather than as a temple priest. But he say that he will help out to a lesser degree.
Alicia thanks Florin for his report, but urges him to first reunite with his family. After that, she would welcome his help in the election.
That's four of seven. What say Theo, Syr, and Wynn? Alicia especially singles out the bard. "You, good sir, a most talented bard by all accounts, would be invaluable in communicating for me to the people as we go to an election. Will you not lend your talents to my cause? But only, I hope, if you think me to be the best candidate."
By the way, it is easy for Mac to discover that this is the famed Floating City, and that there is certainly a WLA outpost here.
[OOC: By the way, as you role play the meeting with the Overlord, PLEASE also be updating your PC sheet, visiting the Catacombs, e-mailing about loot division, and e-mailing or posting about your activities during R&R.]
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Tuesday March 31st, 2009 6:54:28 AM
OOC: Mac was refering to the Ga'alian priests disappearance into the woldblood crater, but that was also good to know. :) Still OOC, we haven't heard from Horace in a while. Is he still with us? Finally, I can't update Mac's CS or consider visiting the Catacombs until the treasure distribution is dealt with. End OOC.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Tuesday March 31st, 2009 9:19:16 AM
OOC: I'm with Mac, can't visit the Cat without knowing if Brahmah gets anything or not. :)
Cayzle: So then get e-mailing, you guys, and make decisions! :-)
Florin Jadenth Tuesday March 31st, 2009 7:58:38 PM
(OOC:Sent my email about what my char will pick from the Overlord's gifts, giveing a either or post even. Just kind of waiting to see what the split on the sold items will be now and such. Also can't update experience till I get a exp number. I can do the other but CS won't be complete till then none the less.)
Once the group breaks up from the meeting with the Overlord, Florin heads home, only makeing a quick stop off to see about buying a something for Jella and some flowers to take to Ivy. Once this is done he heads the rest of the way home and greets his family. Giveing the gifts and spending time with them.
Later that day he heads to the temple of Domi to deliver the single vial of Woldsblood that he kept and gives it to one of the higher clerics there, explaining alittle of what he and the other Shields went through to get it and explaining he wished to deliver it to them for research, etc incase such a incident happens again. He also speaks to one of the temple scrubes to place in the archives the info he had learned about the undead variation of the heart seed of Ga'al since it may be of importance in the future.
With this done he finally heads to the GG to meet back up with his friends and also he has asked Ivy and Jella to come since he wanted to treat them to a meal. Not to mention Jella would probably be happy to meet Syr again.
Florin will spend the following days training and working on various things.
He does speak to Brahmah since he is curious about some things to, "I was wondering Brahmah, you can make the tattoos named after yourself can't you? Can you place them on another person too?" Florin has been thinking over this for awhile and has been thinking of getting a bull's strength or such but thought he would speak to Brahmah.
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Tuesday March 31st, 2009 9:56:11 PM
The halfling cleric bids farewell to his companions and treks off to the Temple of Alemi. Belkior needs to report to the Patriarch and then rest and recover. Not to mention checking to see if there are any persons in the Temple infirmaries that he can assist.
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Tuesday March 31st, 2009 10:13:57 PM OOC - Rewards Selection
Florin - Ring of Protection +3 Wynn - ? Syr - ? Mac - Luckstone Theodore - declined Brahmah - Ring of Protection +3 (?) Belkior - Ioun Stones (if anything, depends on downtime available)
Loot Wynn - vote to sell and split (everything) Syr - give Tome to Belkior or Harley, sell and split rest Belkior - give Tome to Belkior or Harley, sell and split rest Theo - declined (I think) Mac - ? Florin - ? Brahmah - ?
Free at Last (DM Cayzle) Wednesday April 1st, 2009 12:38:08 AM
The Overlord looks at the quiet bard in the group, and says that she is sorry he will not commit. "For your silver tongue would be of great service in swaying hearts. Well, maybe another time."
You are dismissed, and then you are free to pursue some down time.
Florin and Ivy are very happy to reunite.
Several report to the WLA or to a temple. Does anyone keep a vial of Woldsblood? Speak now or I'll assume not.
If anyone wants to look into the matter of the Ga'alian priests who dived into the Woldsblood, just let me know. Divination? Scrying? Legend Lore? How?
Syr Ac 35/34 HP 142 Wednesday April 1st, 2009 2:56:08 AM
Syr bids good bye to the Overload, "Let us know when you need us on the campaign trail?" (OOC: he did commit to assisting during previous post). Syr tucks a small chest under an arm and bows once to the Overload before leaving.
On the way out he comments to the others, "I have to see how Shield Construction is doing. Let me check with Dotta and I'll meet you guys back at the house." He stops suddenly and looks at Brahmah and Mac, "I apologize, you are more than welcome to stay around with us longer if the WLA permits it. Most of us have a room at the house,. Florin, we have a new place since the last one came crashing down around our ears. Wynn, can you lead them back?"
Turning to the new recruits he offers a hand, "We are pretty informal here but I think I speak for all of us when I state that you are more than welcome to join us. Cap, I'll be the first to say we could use your experience and leadership in the group. Mac, we haven't know you as long but I'm sure we can find a place for a person that likes to charge blindly into a room and has a tendency to faint when he sees a little blood." He smiles at the big minotaur and puts his hands up to protect himself from an imagined blow.
"Somehow, I think we have a way of finding trouble that might be of interest to you guys and maybe the WLA." Getting wide eyed and looking innocent, "I really don't know what causes it." With an infectious grin, he turns his back to Belkior and makes a subtle pointing motion at the halfling accompanied by a knowing nod and a wink of his eye.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Wednesday April 1st, 2009 3:35:16 PM
"Yes Florin I can do that for you. I can't cast Bull's Strength, but I can cast Bear's Endurance and others. As I understand it though, I can have someone cast the spell as long as I tattoo it. I need the materials though, ink and such."
"As for loot, I will take an equal value or the ring. However, if no one likes the hat, I'll take it instead. And someone else can take the ring."
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste d20+6=7 ; d20+6=19 ; Wednesday April 1st, 2009 11:02:02 PM
The halfling cleric rises before dawn to ready himself for his daily devotions to Alemi. The quiet, practised ritual of prayer and silent contemplation have never failed to ready Belkior for what will come during the day. Even when he is adventuring with his companions rather than the routine of the infirmaries of the Temple.
After rising, Belkior silently moves to the refrectory of the Temple to break his fast. Once he has gathered the fruits, grain cereal and breads that he normally eats in the morning, the Paragon will seek out some familiar faces. Not the Healers, Paragons and other practitioners who normally work in the infirmaries but the Fixers. Belkior scans the room but can't seem to find any of them, so he sits by himself.
Haveing failed in his attempt to spot them at breakfast, Belkior now seeks out the Fixers by going to that portion of the Temple and asking for whoever is in charge. If that person is familiar, Belkior will be encouraged but that is not absolutely necessary. Trying his best to recall what he saw, Belkior relates how the Ga'alian priests escaped through the pool of Woldsblood in the hope that the Fixers can provide some clues that he can share with his companions.
Once that discussion is complete, the Paragon will go to the infirmaries and use his skills and magic to treat those that have come to the Temple for healing.
At the conclusion of the day, though, Belkior will return to his cell and prepare to cast divinatory magics so that he can receive some insight from Alemi.
Florin Jadenth Wednesday April 1st, 2009 11:06:37 PM
Florin listens to what Brahmah says and nods before speaking to him, "I can cast bull's strength myself if that will help. I need to look into the ink and such then."
(Cayzle: How much would the ink and such cost for this? Is it something I have to go into the CC for considering Florin and Brahmah can team up to do the tattoo. Also, since my character is casting the spell to help Brahmah out would or could Florin take some of the exp penalty for makeing it, meaning if there is one.)
Florin will pray for the bull's strength spell for the next day to help Brahmah out with the tattoo and will work on this with Brahmah. Beyond that he spends his time doing things with Ivy and Jella, training and spending time at the temple. Being one of few paladin's of Domi in the Float he figures he has a obligation to aid in any training of paladins that may be done.
South, and still further South (DM Cayzle) Thursday April 2nd, 2009 8:11:20 AM
A Final Bit With The Overlord: She thanks you all, and tells Syr that she will be in touch about help in campaigning. OOC: By the way, friends, please *DO* come to a decision about who picked what magic items. Some folks seem to have been ignoring the e-mail messages.
At The Factory: Seems that sales of shields, weapons, and armor are up all over the city, given the rumors of an undead army about to invade from the Undercity.
At The Temple of Alemi: Belkior finds that the head fixer and several others returned to Plateau City already, likely with a Word of Recall. But one of the fixers calls the Float home, probably the highest level fixer in the Float, and he is happy to talk with Belkior. "I don't *know* where those priests of evil went, but I can say that we felt the depth of that pool, and it was deep indeed. So far as I could sense, it went South. To the Southern Continent, my guess is."
Regarding a Tattoo: Florin and Brahmah talk about tattoos. It seems that the two of them could indeed collaborate on such a thing. OOC: To get the ingredients you need, go to the Catacombs and buy the materials for a Brahmah's Tattoo there; the cost is half the cost of buying the Tattoo (and the Catacombs will forward 10% of that back to Brahmah as a royalty). Note that the Tattoo will let you activate it twice a day with the effect of a Bull's Strength as cast by a third level cleric, that is, for a duration of three minutes each time. Just this DM's opinion -- there might be some other second level spell that is more useful, considering you could buy a +4 belt of giant strength instead.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Thursday April 2nd, 2009 8:17:10 PM
Always willing to talk about tattoos, Brahmah discusses it with Florin.
Brahmah will take time however to see the commander of the WLA and explain the situation with the Woldsblood and weird clerics, as he understands it, to them.
Wynn Thursday April 2nd, 2009 9:49:55 PM
The bard spends the next several days roaming about the city in a deep funk. He cannot bear to stay at the apartments they had purchased as everything about the place reminded him of Xenia. Each day he checked the scroll of answers for news of Xenia. Was she still alive?, Was she in danger?, Where was she? Did she still love him? Each day he tried a different question hoping for an answer. Each night he tried to open his mind and reach out telepathically for that link that had so recently joined them together, hoping for even sporadic thoughts that would lead himto her.
[OOC Wynn will take a chest of platinum coins and otherwise will go with whatever the majority wishes re. the tome.]
Florin Jadenth Thursday April 2nd, 2009 10:04:32 PM
Florin has been thinking over the tattoo issue and is still wondering about things considering magic items and such and has another idea for a tattoo instead, "Hey Brahmah, do you have access to the longstrinder spell? Maybe something that could increase my movement would be a good idea." Florin just unsure rather he wants to save up for boots of haste but that is also a option too.
Florin plans to take one of the rings of protection+3 but otherwise is waiting on other treasure.
(I don't mind if we sale the other treasure beyond that which might be useful to others and split it.)
A Little R&R (DM Cayzle) Friday April 3rd, 2009 8:44:11 PM
Wynn consults the magic scroll for an answer about his lost Xenia ... and receives an answer -- maybe one that soothes his wounded heart. [OOC: Sorry, I want to consult with Co-DM Al before revealing the result of the scroll's answer.]
Brahmah and Florin consider the option of a Longstrider Tattoo. If may occur to the pair that a tattoo of Longstrider (1st level tattoo) lasts one hour, thrice a day, while a tattoo of Extended Longstrider (2nd level tattoo) lasts six hours, twice a day.
The party finds time to relax for a while. Life takes on a peaceful lull, and there is a chance to train, read, engage in business or leisure. So far, the party seems to be simply enjoying a little down time, with no big projects to devour a vacation, aside from Florin's Tattoo.
[OOC: Do please let's come to a resolution about loot and any big actions soon please. I'll send out RP and XP e-mail this week-end.]
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Saturday April 4th, 2009 12:07:26 PM
(OOC: Cayzle, I thought we decided that metas can't work with tattoos? If we wanted, I suppose we could adjust it in the Pedia)
Brahmah looks at the hat, then at the ring. "Hey all, I think if no one else wants it, I'll take the silly little hat. There's just something about it. My second choice would of course be either gold or the ring. Whichever."
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Saturday April 4th, 2009 9:28:42 PM
Mac reports in to the WLA (with Brahmah if that works in with his time), and spends a couple of days there training. When not engaged in the physical rigors he is patiently tutored over books (Skill points spent on Literacy - had to happen eventually). Afterwards, he meets back up with the Shields either at the house or one of the temples (Domi's first, then others).
He is interested in Brahmah's tattoos, and would like to see how they are 'applied' before giving the idea any further consideration.
When next with the Shields as a group he asks, "I'm not sure how long we are staying put, and I've not had much experience in politics, but would anyone be interested in commissioning me to make a weapon for them?"
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Sunday April 5th, 2009 11:02:27 PM
The halfling cleric thinks about what he has heard before seeking out the Fixer with further questions. Belkior hasn't bothered asking his companions, but locating these Ga'alians may be important. And the Fixers would know, if anyone did, how to locate someone who can use Woldsblood that way. Of course, if that fails, the Shields can always resort to divination magic.
Meanwhile, Belkior would like to be crafting his wands. All told, it will be several weeks until he can complete the work.
Theodore & Macaw Monday April 6th, 2009 8:20:35 PM
Theodore again waves away any offered prizes. "I abstained from the mission so I can't very well take any rewards from your hard work."
Noticing the two new member of the group, Theodore introduces himself to Mac and Brahmah. "Hello. I am Theodore, a practicing wizard that the Shields saved some months back. Before that, I called Dirt City my home. Where are you both from?"
He also notes the absence of Xenia and the resulting depression that Wynn is suffering from. When he has an opportunity to approach his friend alone, he places a hand on his shoulder and whispers, "Where's Xenia, Wynn? Is everything all right?"
Theodore offers his support of Alicia. She has been good to him while he served under her.

Wynn [AC=26; HP=68/75] d20+12=22 Monday April 6th, 2009 8:43:42 PM
The bard continues his pattern of wandering the haunts of the Floating City. He takes in whatever knowledge he can of events in the city and it's hinterlands. He also seeks out other adventuring groups and asks what they know of Gaalian clerics and their recent fascination with Woldsblood.
When approached by Theo he describes the vanishing of Xenia and the brief mental contact he had with her. He explains that he does not know where she is, nor whether she is safe or in peril. The more he talks and remembers, the sadder he becomes.
OOC Gather Information = 22
Mask Day and Elections (DM Cayzle) Monday April 6th, 2009 10:00:13 PM
The party decides to take a month (or two?) off from adventuring.
Belkior hears that a couple fixers and paragons have gone off to the Southern Continent, to bring the news of the Ga'alians, and as a result of divinations that suggested they were needed. No divination has suggested the same of Belkior or his friends.
Belkior takes several weeks to craft wands -- OOC: How many, and of what spells and caster levels?
Florin, Brahmah, and possibly Mac talk about Tattoos, and possibly craft some. -- OOC: Same questions!
Mac also trains at the WLA and learns to read.
Some of the party are new to the Floating City, and may benefit from some exploration.
What is commonly known to those who have lived in the Float for a while, is that with the death of the Underlord, there will now be an election for Overlord and Underlord, and new undercrats will be chosen to replace the ones who fell recently in the plague.
But many do not know or remember the traditions, so the Overlord has hired bards and criers to travel throughout the Float to remind the people of the old ways that guide the City:
The Story Of The Day of Masks
In the Floating City, this is the most important day of the year. For most cultures it is a "fun" day, its meaning lost in the annals of time. In the Big Float and for the People of the Turtle, it is a matter of freedom and captivity, youth and old age. On this day, all citizens wear masks to hide their identity. For if they are one of the twenty chosen, their lives are irrevocably changed. On this day at mid-morning, the Underlord and the twenty Undercrats whose twenty years of service are completed, form a grand procession up through the city levels their way paved with flowers. These flowers are grown for a whole year with loving care by the citizenry in window boxes, due to a lack of land, just for this day. When the procession arrived on the top level, it enters the Temple of Caeroldra where a service is conducted by the Chief Servant known as the Evocation of Youth is held. There the twenty Undercrats are laid upon with hands and are transformed back to become the age of their choice, with or without their previous memories. From there, the procession makes the rounds of the other Big Four Temples and then enters the Arena. There a tournament takes place with both the Underlord and Overlord presiding. This begins with a speech from the Overlord concerning the status of the city and to thanks the Underlord for his service. This is followed by an address from the Underlord where he confirms the security of the realm and thanks the Twenty for their service. The procession of the Overlord then commences, forming on the Arena floor and led by the day's champions. The mood of the day then sobers when twenty trumpets sound announcing the Choosing. The crowd exits hurriedly to find a place along the procession route. The procession heads down through the levels and the difference in the demeanor of the crowd is marked. No one talks. The shuffling feet of the turtles as they proceed bearing the Overlord, can always be heard. Occasionally the droning of various religious groups can be heard as they give thanks for not being chosen. During the descent, the Crown of the Overlord glows green and sends a ghost-like image of itself to float above the crown where it settles on someone's head. And thus are the chosen selected. Eventually the procession disappears down the Underramp and the crowd explodes in celebration at not being chosen for another year. The masks are torn off and the celebrating continues far into the night. Those who are chosen spend twenty years working for the Underlord as an Undercrat. Reputed jobs done by Undercrats include: 1) acting as The Seekers writing the histories of the Wold's past and present via the Time Seeing Stones; 2) acting as the Custodians who monitor the floating of the city; and 3) working as the Preservers who monitor Dragon Bay and other interests that the Teucri left behind.
For most Citizens of the Float, the Day of Masks begins weeks and even months earlier -- this time, it is a bit of a rush. First, all citizens order or commission a mask. Those who order, go to a mask display store and select from the hundreds of masks of tradition, i.e. masks with proven track records of nonselection. You see, the Floating Citizens are very superstitious about their masks. They select their masks by multiple criteria which include: 1) the track record of the mask; 2) how many people have purchased this mask this year, because some thing that there is safety in large numbers and some the opposite; 3) cost; 4) station in life, for some buy masks above, on, or below their station); 5) the year, month and day of someone's birth, possibly theirs; 6) and a multitude of other criteria. Many also spend huge sums of coin to design or commission new masks which could be one of a kind or later become a common design. All of this is done to avoid being chosen as one of The Twenty, or in unusual cases in an effort to be chosen. Second, all citizens either change identities with someone or pretend to. This is usually done with a friend or with someone who has the same occupation so that the cover is believable. Sometime, days or hours before the Choosing, they arrange the switch. Some reveal afterward who they switched with, some do not, some choosing to exchange with the same person every year. It is considered rude to ask someone of their specific plans or strategies for mask day. Even families, kin, and spouses don't talk of their plans. Many use this opportunity of animosity to swap-wives by switching identities or to pull off a crime or slick business deal. Even though specifics are considered anathema, what happened last year and, who's reemerging this is the talk of the town.
Past experience has created law-customs that are followed by everyone. First, no citizen under age 16 can be chosen. Second, once the trumpets sound announcing the choosing, no one may change masks, alter their current mask in any way, put on a mask, or remove one. Third, visitors to the Floating city are eligible as well as citizens. Fourth, those chosen must be alive at the time of their choosing.
Mask Day will be two weeks after your meeting with the Overlord. She will meet with you again about 10 days before then. You must NOW decide on which magic items to accept, and describe what you will do to help the Overlord win re-election. At the minimum, state whether you will do little, some, or a lot.
Florin Jadenth Monday April 6th, 2009 10:16:31 PM
Florin looks listens to the talks of the group atleast when he is with them and when he notices Wynn looking down about Xenia, he can't help but move over to the bard and speaks to him, "It can't be easy for you, I can only imagine what it would be like to loose Ivy or Jella as far as that goes. If we find out anything and are able we'll all be behind you on finding her. Anyway, Xenia is crafty and can take care of herself very well so for now just have faith."
Florin still plans to go into the CC when he has the split on treasure is made and see about the stuff for a Brahmah tattoo with longstringer.
(Florin will look into buying a scroll with longstrider on it, extended if that can actually be used anyway. Also can Brahmah cast the extended longstrider from the scroll or will Florin need to seek someone else out that can do it?)
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Tuesday April 7th, 2009 2:37:32 AM
Brahmah will make the tattoo for Florin. (Cayzle, how many XP do I lose?)
The minotaur is happy to take whatever items they allow him. But he likes the hat and the ring.
(OOC: Buying the tattoo in the Catacombs will give Brahmah a commission. Having him make it costs XP and half the gold value.)
DM Al Tuesday April 7th, 2009 6:03:37 AM
You don't lose XP when crafting a Woldian item, Brahmah. Yeah! ^_^
I didn't remember that little fact about Woldian items Al, thanks. ~JayB
Theodore & Macaw Tuesday April 7th, 2009 4:45:59 PM
Theodore awkwardly pats Wynn on his shoulder. "If there is anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to ask. Until then, I will keep my ears and eyes open for any information about Xenia's whereabouts."
Theodore speaks privately with Alicia, "My Lady, I will speak with my associates in the area concerning your re-election. Are there any programs or incentives that you are thinking of implementing for the magically inclined that you might want me to pass along to them? I'm sure if they knew of your desire to make the City more comfortable to folks of my same passion, they'd be that much more eager to support you."

Wynn [AC=26; HP=68/75] Tuesday April 7th, 2009 9:02:26 PM
Wynn agrees to help the Overlord by telling stories of how the Overlord has helped Floating City survive the tremendous turmoil that has been evident since the rise of the Fey King. Wynn will tell these stories in taverns throughout the city.
Belkior (AC 25 (27 vs. evil); HP 89/91) - Magic Circle vs. Evil, Purifying Aura, Haste Tuesday April 7th, 2009 10:23:25 PM

OOC - Two wands: Resist Energy (11th level) and Protection from Energy (10th level)
Mask Day and Elections, II (DM Cayzle) Wednesday April 8th, 2009 2:51:21 AM
Dealing with the Overlord
As far as the gifts go, the Overlord hands out gifts to those who state a preference: Florin - Ring of Protection +3 Wynn - Chest of coins - 1,600 pp Syr - Chest of coins - 1,600 pp Mac - Luckstone Theodore - declined Brahmah - Ring of Protection +3 Belkior - Ioun Stones
Theo declines a gift, but the Overlord reminds him that she has yet to reward him for his time of service to her. [OOC: Also consider that the DM would prefer to avoid having some players who are much richer than others.] She presses a chest of coins on him, suggesting that his good heart can lead him to putting the coins to good use, should he choose not to use them for himself.
The DM reminds the party that they have yet to dispose of the rest of the treasure, so far as he knows.
Time Out for Item Creation
Belkior devotes his time and resources to creating wands of Resist Energy (11th level) and Protection from Energy (10th level)
Brahmah reminds Theo that he can indeed create extended tattoos. An Extended Longstrider Tattoo can be made. The easiest way to do so, if you do not have the Exended Spell feat, is to use a metamagic rod of Extend.
There is indeed a branch of the Star Mage Guild here in the Float -- the wizards' union does a very good side business in teleporting objects and people between the Float and Plateau City, with no error due to the magic circles to which the Star Mages have access.
Moreover, so long as its use is on the grounds of the Guild, a lesser metamagic rod of Extend can be rented for a paltry 250 gp. [The DM notes that you can buy it from the Catacombs for 3,000, use it, then sell it back to the Catacombs for 2,700, for a "rental fee" of 300 gp.]
Florin also watches closely, just in case he is needed.
Campaign Events
Belkior is too busy with items; Brahmah is too busy making tattoos. Florin seems distracted. Only wnn and Theo are willing to help put the Overlord. Right?
Wynn's bardic storytelling is an especially effective component.
Mask Day
The holiday is nearly here! Is there any special way to dress? What kinds of masks do you all choose?
Syr Ac 35/34 HP 142 Wednesday April 8th, 2009 3:24:51 AM
Syr spends the next couple days catching up at Shield Construction. He is the 1st one to rise in the morning and the last to return home. He buries himself in the books and spending time with Dotta. Although to a casual observer, their relationship appears to be more on a professional level than before.
He tells Florin, "You know, we may need some friends in high places one day. I'm going to assist the Overlord getting elected. Besides, it may mean more business for us in the long run with that kind of visibility."
"Speaking of business," he gathers the 'older' Shields together, "Here are your shares from the past 8 weeks. I know we still haven't broken even but it's a slow thing. Right now, we have 2 houses and 1 shop being remodeled. The plague we had to deal with really dried up our contracts for a couple weeks. Now things are back to normal." The elf grins and hands over 160 gps to Florin, Wynn, and Belkior. To the newcomers, "You guys are more than free to buy a share, minimum buy in is 1k."
The next morning, he approaches the Overlord's election headquarters. While there, he schedules several speaking engagements on her behalf (Diplomacy +20 and Leadership may help) up until the election. He also volunteers Shield Construction to rebuild some of the fire damaged parts of the trash level. "I'm sure Tionel won't mind what we do with his share of the business." The crew even place a sign out front of the site supporting the Overlord.. Throwing himself into the task, Syr devotes 10 days in the 2 week period to the campaign.
Florin Jadenth Wednesday April 8th, 2009 5:20:21 PM
(Jay: As soon as the treasure gets fully taken care of I will get Florin to the CC to buy the things needed for the tattoo. Might speed things up if your free to handle the transaction. I seen the latest email on treasure splitting and Florin is still open to the other treasure being sold and the money split among the group. Also I think Jay/Brahmah was leaning more towards the hat then the ring, just a note.)
Florin chuckles when he hears Syr's comments and shakes his head, "I didn't really invest to get rich or anything anyway Syr, with the rebuilding and such that needs to be done I would like to offer my 160 gold up to help with that also if you would be willing to use it for that cause." Florin smiles and pats his elven friend on the shoulder, "Anyway, sometime in my life I would like to train some paladin and undead hunters so maybe when that day comes your company can help me make a place for the training."
Florin smiles as he just let out his dream for the future, to train young people in the ways he had learned and devoted his life too, "Some of the orphans show potential but I would not force my ways onto another, I just hope one day I will have the chance to share what I've learned. I been teaching Jella the way of the sword but I don't think the paladin life is what she wishes and I support her in whatever she may decide....never know, she is pretty good at talking her way out of trouble and such, maybe she'll be like Wynn." Florin frowns abit though, Wynn was popular and ladies liked him so Florin wondered how many young men he'll have to beat off with sticks if that happens, "But hopefully no one will encourage her too." Florin gives Wynn a smile though, hopeing the bard takes his picking on him, Florin trying to lighten the bard's mood due to the loss of Xenia.
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 25, Hps 80/126) Wednesday April 8th, 2009 6:35:57 PM
"The hat is without and owner. I'll give up the ring for the hat. No one seemed interested in it."
Extra to Brahmah (DM Cayzle) Wednesday April 8th, 2009 8:06:17 PM
The hat did not much like it when Brahmah said, "I think if no one else wants it, I'll take the silly little hat." And it refuses Brahmah. Second choice for you, my friend!
Theodore & Macaw Wednesday April 8th, 2009 8:46:02 PM

Mask Day (DM Cayzle) Thursday April 9th, 2009 1:34:13 AM
Syr checks up on the group's business venture. He says that he will help the Overlord, and lays out a strong plan to do so.
Florin thinks about the future and tries to cheer up his sad friend, Wynn.
Theo, the first of the Crimson Shields to do so, buys a raven mask.
Belkior adds a Staff of Healing to his to-do list.
More in morning. Feel free to add a PC post or response.
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Thursday April 9th, 2009 3:51:13 AM
Mac takes some time out to wander the merchants quarter in search of a mask, though he is not certain he will find something he both likes and fits. Something aquiline maybe...
The tattoo idea is on the back burner, with the opportunity presented with the shop and stuff and being still short of the minimum entry fee and time. Mac seeks use of a portion of a forge for a reasonable fee. Mac heads off to the Catacombs to see what he can get for his less used weapons.
Message for Wynn Brightsong - DM/Al d20+8=20 ; Thursday April 9th, 2009 9:23:57 AM
The Message in a Bottle Tavern lies not far from the residence of the Crimson Shields. Set off of The Hole in The street on Merchant Level, it sports a cozy clubbish atmosphere where business persons and entrepreneurs meet to discuss politics and deals within quiet, relaxed surroundings. "The Message", as it is often simply known, caters to a different crowd than the large, well-lit, and sometimes raucous Giggling Ghost down on Fence Level.
On this day, Wynn Brightsong sits in The Message in conversation with a few local merchants over drams of warm mulled wine. The topic of conversation, to which the bard has skillfully steered the small group, is statesmanship of the Overlord Alicia, specifically, the efficient and compassionate way in which she has helped Floating City survive the turmoil brought on by the rise of the Fey King.
(Wynn Brightsong Will Save 20)
"Wynn?"
"I see him. He's alive! The Shields made it!"
The touch upon the bard's mind is like that which he felt during the battle in the Control Room some weeks ago, the touch and the few words, distant and unclear. As at that time, Wynn Brightsong has not the slimmest shadow of a doubt who it is that now speaks in his mind. It is Xenia. Her thoughts seem to mirror her spoken words, as she appears to be speaking to others that are present at her location.
"Wynn? Can you hear me? I love you. Um. Um. I think I got sucked into that Silvery Pool, and it sent me to this place called Hook City on some sorta Southern Place. 'Member them Chaos Guys? The Children of Chaos, they called themselves? This is where they live."
"I'm trying to find a way to get back to you, but there's some big 'pocolypse happening down here, and I think they need my help."
"What? Wynn? You hear me? Peerimus, the Druid Guy, is doing some ... " The voice breaks as though from the interference of distance. Then, it continues again. " ... scrying thing on you, and he says we can maybe ... each other with the Mind thing we got at the Tower of Boydos."
"Wynn? You there?"
Mask Day, the Election, AND the Great Migration (DM Cayzle) Thursday April 9th, 2009 2:03:36 PM
The Floating City is a-buzz with preparations. Bakers are cooking, Brewers are brewing, and, most of all, mask-makers are crafting! In the middle of all the hustle-bustle, the election is coming up fast! And several of the Crimson Shields are waist -deep in it. Overlord Alicia even finds time to thank Syr personally for all he is doing.
Those helping Alicia soon find that most of the artisans and tradesfolk, as well as the priests of the Gods of the Wold, favor her. Many poor people, and a scattering of nobles, also back her. And due in part to the work of the Crimson Shields, a number of high-profile bards and adventurers are supporting the current Overlord.
As is tradition, whoever wins the race will serve as Overlord for a year, and the runner up serves as Underlord. Every year, the two switch jobs, and so on, alternating. So maybe it makes sense that your old pal Jonas, the current acting Overlord, is also running in the election. And it seems that he has gained the backing of the Temples of Caeroldra and Wardd.
Finally, among the candidates considered to be real contenders, Lord Perimon and Jamie Fairshot are running. Perimon, who you have met, has the support of many nobles, the merchants, and the Temple of Ffloy. Fairshot, a retired captain of the famed archers of the Order of the Lake, and owner of a well-regarded archery shop on the Barracks Level, has the support of the army and of many who think a stronger defense is needed; Fairshot is a pushing a "guy who can best defend you from ghouls and zombies" platform.
But amid these already dizzy-making activities, events are shaking the greater Wold! There are rumors that the legendary continent in the far southern ocean is shattering! The rumors talk about something called the "Great Migration." Many people are afraid that the migration is one of strangers to the lands in the north.
Fairshot has started talking about defending the Float from far-away invaders and refugees.
There is definitely something to this rumor; Belkior confirms that several priests of Alemi have gone south to help out there somehow. And you half-remember something about the Ga'alians you fought in the Undercity -- didn't they flee to the south? Something is up there too!
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 27, Hps 126) Thursday April 9th, 2009 4:39:46 PM
The minotaur is concerned at the rumor of shattering continents, which remind him of home and unfinished tasks.
(OOC: A bit disappointed, Brahmah takes the ring. "I didn't mean silly as negative.")
Florin Jadenth d20+9=27 ; d20+4=13 ; Thursday April 9th, 2009 10:23:55 PM
Florin seeks out a mask that would match Ivy's since she would be joining him and also one for Jella. Infact if both Ivy and Jella wish to go then he plans to go shopping for masks with both of them.
Florin is concerned about the rumors but seeing as how there is little he can do about it for now he waits to see what more will happen. While out shopping and such Florin does try to campaign for the Overlord. Useing the knowledge of what she has done to help out with things and such to help. He hopes this will help the Overlord if even alittle. He also aims some of his talks at the nobles since Florin himself is one and his family, maybe he can score some points for the Overlord with the nobles.
(Diplomacy:27 Knowledge Nobility:13 *If able to aid in talks with nobles*)
(Cayzle: Just checking up, did you send a email about exp out? Checking since I'm worried my email might of are it. Yahoo has been alittle funny of late for me.)
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] Friday April 10th, 2009 3:03:54 AM
OOC mostly: Loot: Mac no strong inclination as to the fate of the Tome. I hope this wasn't the deciding vote. That said, he is learning to read, so if someone would like to lend it to him when they are finished with it, he'd be okay with that.
oh, and Mac was never going to take the Cap. As an item of deception, it stands somewhere in opposition to his personal code.
Syr Ac 35/34 HP 142 Friday April 10th, 2009 10:51:46 AM
Syr smiles as he receives input from the others regarding the division of the items found. He grimaces, recalling the worry he felt over how each person's opinion could have caused conflict. Muttering to himself, "These compromises and decisions bode well for us later."
When talks to the others, "Good deal. It looks like we are all in agreement? Sell all the items and spilt it with an extra share for 'group' purchases. Speaking of group items, do you still have the identify Wand, Theo?" He looks at the sorceror and waits for confirmation.
Turning his attention to the halfling, "And Frogger, ummm, I mean Belkior, (Sorry for the slip). Sometimes my mouth is too far ahead my brain." He glances once at the halfling's legs with a guilty look. "Unless anyone has any objections, why don't you take what you need from the group share to make those two wands?"
As Mask Day quickly approaches, Syr busies himself with the campaign and Construction, "Hey Florin, Did you get your mask yet? I still have my last panther mask and it's proved me lucky so far..."
Brahmah, Captain of the Chosen of Domi (AC 27, Hps 126) Friday April 10th, 2009 2:25:49 PM
"Maybe the hat can ride around with one of us. Maybe it would like to be placed with someone who is good and friendly. I know a wemic who would enjoy this hat." He smiles. "But this ring will suit me."
The Overlord-Elect! (DM Cayzle) Friday April 10th, 2009 5:24:26 PM
In the days approaching the election, many people report having a strange dream. Especially those sensitive to divine powers, or to the spiritual side of the Wold, or even to the arts, are affected. In this dream, a slender figure rings an iron bell, and the sound of that bell shakes a continent to pieces.
But life goes on, and Mask Day is here! Several of the Crimson Shields are solidly behind Overlord Alicia, and when all the votes are tallied, she retains her seat as Overlord. The runner up is the retired archer, Jamie Fairshot, who will now be Underlord for the next year.
Alicia is grateful for your help, and she sends you all a note of thanks. "I want you all to know that the Wold needs heroes such as yourselves, and I will be keeping you all in my thoughts."
==========
[OOC by DM Cayzle: Sorry for the delay on exact experience point awards. Note that all PCs WILL level, and you should be updating your PC sheets. I WILL send personal e-mail messages to each player with an xp award this weekend -- likely not until Sunday nite or Monday morning given the holiday and the family clan descending on my home this weekend. Also note that I do not know what the final disposition of the remaining gold was, especially for the wand, armor, and (most of all) the Tome. Please do come to a conclusion on that. Finally, we will be starting a new module on Monday, with the first scene run by DM Al. Thanks, Al!]

He spends the night of the election at the Giggling Ghost toasting Alicia's election and even has a single drink to celebrate Jonas' failed bid for power.
Mac [AC:25 HP:117/119] d20+20=24 ; d20+20=38 ; Sunday April 12th, 2009 11:55:14 PM
During the election campaign Mac is purchasing materials from the Catacombs to make a large longsword. He hopes finish the weapon in 2 to 3 weeks. Does the WLA have a forge in their outpost, and if not is anyone willing to help him negotiate with a local smith? And, how much will it cost? In the latter case he is looking for a smith that isn't already overly busy or staffed. I'll make the checks when I know I have a site. He also (when Syr returns) makes good on his WLA subscriptions, and kicks another 1,000gp in for a share of the two houses and the shop (as mention by Syr: Wednesday April 8th).
Mac knuckles down to the forging of the large longsword (adding +10 to the DC, making it 25). Result is a 24 - he's a tad rusty on the anvil. Without a second thought he focusses on getting it right the second week under the same conditions. Result is 38, meaning 38*25sp = 95gp work done. The Large Longsword is worth 30gp book price, so it takes 1/3 of a week, plus the first week - time enough to observe the election. Once the original purchase is processed and approved Mac will have a sword to sell.
Mac's eagle mask seems to have done the job of not getting him selected. When the festivities are over he stows it away neatly in a wrap in his pack.
