Wil or won't...(ADM Jay B) Thursday April 9th, 2009 5:19:29 PM
Some may stay behind to watch the Manor, while others seemingly want to avoid it all together.
For those who wish to go to the Trade Quarter, to find this Wil fellow, your journey is quick and uneventful.
You approach the site which you suspect is Wil Kommen's Import/Export Emporium and outside there is hussle and bussle which is focused around wagons, carts and runners. There is a half orc and a young assistant near one wagon. They are holding clipboards and counting product. The half-orc is not ugly by normal standards, in fact, he is laughing and getting on well with others. What do you do?
You few that wish to see the Constable make it to the Constabulary quickly and unmolested. What do you wish to do?
Ruby Thursday April 9th, 2009 8:42:54 PM
Ruby keeps a low profile as the make their way to see the Constable. Once there she continues to keep to the back of the group, watching and listening. Under her cloak her hands stay near her weapons and she keeps an eye out for signs of trouble.
When she has a free moment she glances around and then shakes her head. "Constable...would you by chance have a map of the surrounding area that I could have?" It might just come in handy and if nothing else it gives her something to occupy her time with.
Edmund d20+14=30 ; Thursday April 9th, 2009 10:35:02 PM
Edmund looks to the others and nods. Then, affecting his most genial smile, the half-elf wizard strides over to the young half-orc and launches into a torrent of typically Edmundian prose.
"What ho, my good man! We've come to find the most esteemed Wil Kommen, proprietor of this most magnificent of establishments. And, unless my eye deceives me, I suspect you are the sagacious and handsome fellow himself!
Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Archmage Edmund, of the noble Windbourne Hills Greenleaf family, currently representing the Mithril Order and serving in capacity as their de facto administrator and advisor-in-chief, which is to say pro tempore director and charge d'affairs.
At present, the Mithril Order is here at the express wish of the right honourable councilman Lynom, who has employed you in the past for matters of shipping, transport, and delivery. The councilman has requested us to look into the loss of some personal items which were entrusted with your company for transport by caravan. Apparently, the items never arrived at the destination. Surely the right honourable gentleman has spoken with you about it--and we now come to request any information you can provide which might assist us in our recovery operation.
Namely, we should like very much a map of the route your caravan took, and an interview with those who were charged with the handling of the parcels and packages thereof. In addition, any further information you can provide us about any other similar disappearances or events which you may not have given much credence too--any isolated incidents or odd happenings. I assure you, even the smallest detail may have bearing upon this present investigation.
The particular item we are looking for is the right honourable gentleman's family heirloom--a medallion with a blazon of a dragon upon it. Doubtless it was mixed in with many other articles in the same shipment--we'd like to know what else was included as well. A complete list, if possible! Be assured that the councilman will be most pleased for the return of this medallion, and will likely do much to assist the good men who are responsible for its safe return. Perhaps something along the lines of an exemption from tariff duties--I can see that being quite lucrative, oh yes.
Well, that's the posish, my fine fellow. We are most anxious to have the cooperation of such a one as yourself. Can we count upon your assistance? We would be most grateful!"

Julian (Small size) ...updating CS... Friday April 10th, 2009 4:59:17 AM
Julian rolls his eyes when Edmund begins speaking. "Shouldda gone to see the good halfling captain." When Eddy labels himself Archmage Julian's mind wanders, trying to think up new titles for himself. Quickly bored with the idea of thinking he inspects Wil's personal gear and shop a good looking over. Spot Julian stays back and out of the way as much as possible, though he wants to be seen as part of the group and listen to the conversa.... he doesn't really want to listen to all the talk. He wants to be nearby for some action.
Arm Friday April 10th, 2009 6:00:52 AM
After receiving the appropriate hand signal from Rabbitsfoot, Arm relates the story to him of their visit by Lynom. In mid-sentence he stops as he hears the bell tolling. Not knowing what to make of it, he stands rigid in place.
Julian (Small size) ...updating CS... d20+3=10 ; Friday April 10th, 2009 6:21:37 AM
whoops, forgot to roll Spot 10, needn't have bothered...
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Friday April 10th, 2009 9:19:34 AM
Shadow at first is glad they brought Edmund to do the talking and it seems to be going well but that is very short lived. As Edmund starts into the specifics Shadow slaps him on the back (not too hard, but hopefully hard enough to cause him to stop talking). "What my comrade means to say is could we meet with you in private to discuss this matter." Shadow gives a warning look to the mage hopefully getting across the message this is not the best place to discuss this matter.
Wynum Friday April 10th, 2009 10:47:48 AM
Looking at the employees going to and fro, Wynum wonders at the prospect of a career in trade. Thus, he misses a good part of Edmund's Efficient Explanation, and comes to at the end.
"Posish? - he asks Julian- Isn't that rude? Or something?"
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Friday April 10th, 2009 11:18:23 AM
Thar shares Julian's expression, but is glad that it is Ed speaking and not himself. Thar has no problem speaking in his morning mass, but when it comes to diplomacy, he's no star.
His mind starts to wander a little, but then he finds himself losing track of what Ed is saying in the long, superfulous diatribe to Wil. In spite of the length, he is impressed at Ed's ability to make a simple request to a proprietor seem like a flourish before a king.
He appreciates Shadow's wisdom of doing it somewhere private and he keeps an eye on those in the store, making sure that no one is giving inordinate attention...
Wil or won't...(ADM Jay B) Friday April 10th, 2009 2:42:40 PM
OOC: Feel free to keep role playing. I won't be replying to posts until later. :) I'm enjoying this.
Edmund Friday April 10th, 2009 5:53:13 PM
Edmund finishes his lengthy exposition and then turns around to look at Shadow.
"Something on my back?" he asks quietly, before quickly facing front to await Wil's response.
Wil or won't...(ADM Jay B) Saturday April 11th, 2009 5:08:15 AM
Wil looks up at the group as they approach. When Edmund is about half done with his introduction, Wil hands the clip board to the assistant, folds his arms and steps toward the group. "Wowwy, daisy!" He hoots. "Haven't heard so much sugar in years. Buttery smooth you lot." He takes in the group. "Lets see. Savvy. Diplomatic. To the point. Concerned about image. Local style and inflection. You are likely The Order." He looks suddenly sheepish. "I was told you might be by."
"Come on. Lets sit in my office."
He takes you into a large warehouse, upstairs and into an office which overlooks the shipping floor. He closes the doors and seats himself behind a large oak desk. His smile is sincere and nearly constant. He is a genuine man, that is clear.
"I can provide all you ask me for and a bit more, less the medallion however. Not to mention my partner, the caravan and cargo!" He pauses. "Would you like a dram?" He holds up a bottle of amber liquid and pours himself a bit and sips it. "Anyway."
He sips once more, then dives in. "So, about two weeks ago Councilman Lynom contracted out to my company so that Ben Venu- my assistant and caravan master--would pick up the heirloom from Tumblevoid and bring it to the City. We have rings that are permanently enchanted with Message spells on them so that they are able to maintain contact with each other during caravan runs. However, I haven't heard from Ben in almost two weeks. The last time we had communicated, he indicated that the caravan (which had secured the heirloom days earlier) would be leaving the environs of the Monster Preserve in the morning. Since that message, I've heard nothing and my own Messages have gone unanswered."
He begins shuffling papers on his desk and draws out a map and some other minor info. "This is a list of goods, besides the medallion, for the return trip back to the City. I haven't sent out any other shipments that route since I lost contact. This map has routes clearly marked and they are usually very free of issue, though the rare raid will happen. But even then, the caravan usually returns in some manner.
See here?" He points to the top of the stationary. "Wil Kommen's Import/Export Emporium mark of ownership. My mark. That will be on all the crates, boxes, paperwork and wagons. Ben should be wearing his uniform. And the rings have that signet too." (The mark is basically his company name, W.K.I.E.E., in a circle.... simple)
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Saturday April 11th, 2009 10:09:34 AM
Thar follows Wil up the stairs into the room and listens to his explanation of the events. He politely declines the drink and asks, "Could you tell us more about the escort? How well were they armed and how many were there? Also, do you have a finder's fee for recovery of your other goods besides the medallion? Have you had any intel on recent raids or groups that may be preying on caravans?"
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Saturday April 11th, 2009 10:14:55 AM
(Jay, what's your email address? I have a catacombs transaction to send to you...)
Wynum d20-2=3 ; Saturday April 11th, 2009 1:57:46 PM
Wynum tries to get a feeling for the reaction of Wil's employees towards them. He tries to ascertain whether they feel at ease with "mercenaries" mingling in their business, to feel if it seems normal to them to have external help for a recovery operation.
As Ed and Thar are discussing, he approaches Shadow as some time when they cannot be overheard.
"Tell me Shadow, I've been trying to find a means to hamper the changers next time we meet them. Their own action gave me an idea, that to use poison to sap their strength and prevent them from jumping out of reach constantly. However it seem the Catacombs don't sell this. Do you think your contacts could provide us with a couple dose of Dragon Bile? This is costly, but probably worth it."
[Sense motive 3. Three. The crucial word being 'Tries'.]
Edmund Saturday April 11th, 2009 5:07:27 PM
Edmund politely declines Wil's offer of a drink, and listens as the half-orc describes the situation.
"Tumblevoid, Monster Preserve," Edmund mumbles to himself before speaking up "It seems we should begin at the road from the Monster Preserve, then, if that's the last known location of the caravan."
Edmund glances over the maps and the list of goods. "This will be most helpful," he declaires. "Now, if we find any of these other things--even if it is not the medallion--we will know that we are on the right track."
Examining the design on the crates, Edmund is initially puzzled. "Ewkie?" he enquires, "Is it some sort of code word?"
Wil or won't...(ADM Jay B) Saturday April 11th, 2009 6:38:30 PM
Wil looks at Edmund. ""Its.... just the abbreviation of the company name. Nothing more." He is speaking the truth and seems confused by the statement about code words.
When Wynum gauges the reaction of the employees, few even look at the group. One or two say hello and go about their business (loading and unloading goods) and all seem unfazed by your even being there at all.
Edmund Sunday April 12th, 2009 12:25:36 AM
For a moment, Edmund looks rather embarassed, but he quickly recovers his composure and smiles broadly.
"Of course it is, my good man!" he says. "That was just a test! Had to make sure you were who you claimed you were. We've had some problems with imposters lately. Dashed difficult business, dontcha know. One has to be cautious. Good to see everything is on the up-and up!"
Glancing across at the employees, Edmund pauses a moment before asking, "Have you noticed if any of your employees have gone missing or begun acting oddly? Asking unsual questions, or appearing to not know things which they should know?"
Edmund shoots the others a meaningful glance, expecting they, too, are wondering if this business is in any way connected to the doppleganger threat.
Julian (Small size) ...updating CS... Sunday April 12th, 2009 1:24:42 AM
"Monster preserve sounds fun. Doplechanging employee don't though. I miss the good old days when baddies wore black and stank like death and openly defied town laws. This problem of a caravan gone missing - I hope it is simple, a few goblins on a raid, or a hungry dragon. You know, just something to kill without having to worry and think and talk talk talk about it."
Wynum Sunday April 12th, 2009 4:54:02 PM
"I agree, Julian, but I suppose that they would use their own guards in that case. Because there are great perils, and cunning strategies to mount, and unfathomable mysteries, they need the Mithril Order."
Wynum doesn't sound terribly convinced of his own affirmation.

As Arm goes to his knee, all of you notice. The employees even stop. The ground is rumbling, ever so slowly, then stops.
OOC: I'll wait until more postings happen before posting a DM.
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Monday April 13th, 2009 1:54:20 PM
Thar watches Arm's uncharacteristic behavior, then feels the ground rumble himself and wonders what is going on. He braces himself against something sturdy and once it ends, he relaxes somewhat. He does, however, look around to see if anyone was injured or needs aid...
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Monday April 13th, 2009 1:57:45 PM
Shadow accepts the offer of a drink, but will hold onto it and make it look like he is taking a drink anytime Wil does. (he will however not actually drink any of the stuff) Waiting for some time for Ed to actually finish up his own questions, Shadow will ask, "Does the message spell on the rings work for anyone or only Ben?"
When he gets a chance Shadow will answer Wynum's questions, "I was going to swing by and ask some questions of my old employer and I will see if they have any means of securing that substance."
OOC: Jay let me know when you want me to post about Shadow going over to the Guild to check on some stuff.
Ruby Monday April 13th, 2009 10:04:26 PM
Ruby continues to wait for somekind of reply from the Constable and to see if the others are going to say anything else to him. She is not sure how much they were going to tell or ask, but she figures they might have other ideas.
With a shrug, she figures that she can stop off at the WLA and see about getting a map from them instead. They would surely have one on hand and might even have a little information about bandits in the area as well. Tapping her finger on her chin she smiles as it might not be a bad idea to seek out that information anyways.
Arm Tuesday April 14th, 2009 5:56:31 AM
After the ground stops shaking, Arm makes sure that his companions are ok, then asks Rabbitsfoot, "What in the Wold could have caused that? I've been in the City for several years, and have never felt anything like that, and did anyone else hear the bell tolling?".
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Tuesday April 14th, 2009 9:42:24 AM
OOC: did we miss something with the ground rumbling (there was a very brief post that says something about it but no specifics) - was that done in a private post or email?
Edmund Tuesday April 14th, 2009 3:39:20 PM
OOC: I believe Arm is referring to the e-mail sent out by Maj. Knotts about 'The Woldian Migration' or whatever it is.
I won't be incorporating that e-mail into my posts unless the DM mentions it here on the board first, as I have no idea what sort of local response there would be to it. The DM posts have not reflected any sort of local action (or even any evidence that it took place), so Edmund has nothing to respond to.
Wil or won't.again...(ADM Jay B) Tuesday April 14th, 2009 8:26:04 PM
OOC; Sorry for the confusion, the rumbling was indeed the Migration. Its a flavor thing and makes no difference in the module at present.
Those who went to the Constable find a stoic guard. "Yes? What do you need, he's very busy." Ruby would likely be received better at the WLA.
Meanwhile at Wil's.... "Oh yes, I forgot to mention. Ben is a half elf."
Shadow, send me you guild info off board. Tell me who your with, what your hoping to do and how long you wish to take. (axemaster1010 AT yahoo DOT com) When Shadow receives the drink from Wil, you smell a honey brew... mead. Perhaps rare around here, but not poison.
"Employees acting strangely? Well, no, not really, beyond the concern that bandits might be increasing raids. I hired some temps until Ben returns, but they are good people. KNown them for years. They fill in from time to time."
"Ben and I are the only two in the company that have the communication rings. As far as I know they function for anyone."
Ruby Tuesday April 14th, 2009 11:53:46 PM
Ruby does not bother to say anything else as she seems to have been ignored by the Constable. She makes a mental note to head to the WLA headquarters as soon as they get out of here. To that end she will make it a point to head in that direction as soon as she gets out of the building, though she is more than willing to let others know where she is going.
Arm Wednesday April 15th, 2009 5:57:40 AM
Arm frowns at the Guard and says, "Kindly tell him that members of the Mithril Order are here to see him, and we shall take up very little of his time.". If they are allowed entrance, then he proceeds to tell Rabbitsfoot about the new developments (OOC: see previous post). If not, he blithely turns away from the guard. Noticing that Ruby is anxious to be somewhere else, he will offer to accompany her whever she needs to go.
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Wednesday April 15th, 2009 9:37:15 AM
Shadow sees that everything now is being handled just fine. "Excuse me all, I am going to take my leave and see if I can gather any further information from my contacts. I will meet you all back at the Manor." With that Shadow will leave the shop.

How well were they armed and how many were there? Also, do you have a finder's fee for recovery of your other goods besides the medallion? Have you had any intel on recent raids or groups that may be preying on caravans?"
"It would be helpful if we could borrow a few of your horses for the journey, as that would quicken things. Also, your map with incidents and occurrences of other raids would be helpful..."
Wynum Wednesday April 15th, 2009 1:34:36 PM
"Rightly so, adds the centaur, if the attacks have been on the rise, maybe we could just pretend to be a caravan ourselves and hope to lure in the robbers that way. What is the typical caravan made of? I hope indeed there are horses in there. That would speed the travels quite a bit."

Wil or won't.again...(ADM Jay B) Thursday April 16th, 2009 10:11:03 PM
Wil sits, eating from a tray of crackers and goat cheese and sipping on that tankard of honey mead. "Ben Venu is a half elf, like I said. A former archer, but having lost his eye, he could no longer perform as a ranger and decided to go into business and then joined up with me. As for who was on the caravan, it was Ben and two or three others. (Names and descriptions given) "I'll pay several thousand for Ben's return and the others too. The cargo's return is less important. Of course the medallion is why you were here."
Wil describes how a caravan works, what types of goods he usually has and then offers the use of two of his teams if you would like them. The cargo would have to be loaded and purchased by you. He recommends a bunch of empty crates or filling them with stones.
Arm and Ruby make it to the WLA offices and they are provided with a map. You will find later, once your with the others, that both maps the group now have describe Wil's cargo runs west and the WLA topography maps are similar if not nearly identical) You are asked if you are new to the area by a pimple face desk jockey whether you are new to the area and if you were adventurers.
Shadow is still missing.
(Did I miss anyone?)
Ruby Thursday April 16th, 2009 10:33:58 PM
Ruby shakes her head as she takes the map from the young kid. "Been here awhile but I find that things change every so often." With that she moves her cloak to the side so that he can see her Journeyman WLA pin, just in case he needed to know. Glancing to Arm she taps the map in her free hand and nods her head. "Guess we had better catch back up with the others and see what we have.
Glancing one last time to the young kid she dips her head and smiles. "I guess in some ways you would call us adventurers...though I have been out of practice for awhile." She says no more as she leaves the building and heads back with Arm. She will make general chit-chat with him as they walk back, though she does slow a couple of times to get a bag of doughnuts from a street vendor. Being polite and nice she offers some to Arm if he is interested.
Arm Friday April 17th, 2009 6:00:04 AM
Arm groans inwardly at the kid's inquisitiveness, but is grateful that Ruby has taken care of it. He accepts a doughnut with thanks from her on the way back. Between mouthfuls, he says, "I hope the rest have fared well, as it won't be pretty should I have to confront the orc (he literally spits as he says the word) personally. I'm beginning to regret accepting this job, but let us return to the manor and await the others.".
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Friday April 17th, 2009 9:55:39 AM
Thar thanks Wil for his information and gracious offer of using his teams. Smiling, he says, "I thank you sir and appreciate your help. We'll do the best we can to locate your people and goods, and especially the medallion."
He takes the map and hands it to whomever wants it, and waits to see whatever final comments Edmund or the others wish to make...
He looks around the room and continues watching the people coming and going into the store, ensuring that no one is paying them any undue attention...
Edmund Friday April 17th, 2009 12:28:44 PM
Edmund is all for loading up crates filled with stones.
"Ah, so we'll be playing the part of caravaners ourselves, hey hey? Sounds exciting, and they'll be well surprised when they find out that the helpless caravaners fight back!"
Edmund takes the map from Thar and pops it into his scroll case for the moment.
"Now!" Edmund declares, "What about lunch?"
Julian (Small size) ...updating CS... Friday April 17th, 2009 6:22:59 PM
"I know empty crates will bounce around and look quite fake, but stones will be a real drag for the horses. How about barrels of water? If we need to chase them we can release the water quickly enough, and if it takes days and days and days we can use the water. And if there is a fire... " Julian pauses a moment, then a large grin crosses his face, he looks at Edmund certain that this will convince hime, "If you want a bath..."

Wynum Friday April 17th, 2009 9:43:16 PM
"Yes, water, great idea. Or, hay, maybe, what about hay? No. Not good. Fireball."
Wynum inquires about whether these caravans usually have escorts and whether those have uniforms. He also pays for cargo expenses (please quote the price).
"Maybe I should get a blinker to look like Ben, too."
Ruby Friday April 17th, 2009 10:14:06 PM
Ruby smiles and nods her head. "I figure they did as well as we did. Most likely better to tell you the truth." As he takes a doughnut or two she laughs. "I was getting a little hungry and I really don't need to eat a whole bag of doughnuts myself." Her smile widening she laughs some more. "I might just get fat." Her step is slightly lighter as she jokes and you might get the feeling that this is something that she has not done for a long time.
Glancing over she shakes her head as she has her own reservations about this little mission, but she wants to make herself useful. "I have nothing against orcs or half-orcs...but this job smelled funny to me from the begining." With a last shrug she puts that thought out of her head and continues on her way to the house she now calls home. Glancing back to Arm she gives a shy smile and then clears her throat. "If you don't want to talk about it I will understand, but..." Glancing back to the street pavement she tries to find the words she wants and then sighs. "What is your trouble with orcs?" She does not expect him to answer if he does not want to, but there is only a tinge of concern in her voice.
Once back to the house she will make her way to the dining room and spread the map out on the table, She goes over the route that she knows the caravan to take and taps a couple of good spots for an ambush to be sprung upon a caravan. "If these caravans would just stagger their deliveries." She shakes her head and figures that is a lost cause...though she wonders if she should bring it up to someone.

"Hay? Well I suppose some would be good as well. "Uniforms are a good idea, but I don't think a blinker will make the difference."
"Yeah, it must be time for lunch."
Arm Monday April 20th, 2009 6:00:44 AM
Arm's light mood diminishes somewhat as he is asked about his hatred of orcs, but he nonetheless begins to tell Ruby the entire story of why he hates them so, starting with the murder of his parents and his egress into seclusion in the woods to hide from them at such a young age. His eyes begin to burn with fury as he recalls these unpleasant memories, but they soften a bit as he gazes upon Ruby, "Sorry, my dear..one would think the feelings would fade after a time, but mine unfortunately hasn't.".
Once back at the manor, he helps her with the perusal of the map, but he is of little help to her. He DOES, however, memorize most of the key features on it.

"A standard shipment would run about 100gp. Product would run you more. I suggest empty crates. Anyway, the money covers rental wagon and team. You'll have to drive your own, I'm short handed, remember." He smiles and leaves. "Good luck."

Her own face darkens as she has sudden memories flash through her own head and shudders. She has not had to talk about her past to anyone yet and she is still hoping to avoid that at all costs. Bits and pieces are safe for them to know...safe for her if they know as well...but not all.
Her work with the map is quick and she points out a few places to Arm that she figures might be good places for an ambush. "This is a good place with the amount of cover for protection and this one with the rise on both sides that would allow for an attack from height." She is not sure what the others have found out yet or what her own thoughts on the map will mean to anyone.
Wil or won't.again...(ADM Jay B) Tuesday April 21st, 2009 10:58:00 AM
So, in merely a few hours, the group discovers more information about the mission at Wil's, goes to the Catacombs, visits the Constable (with no luck) and the WLA. They have two maps, both nearly identical. A wagon for a cargo run to investigate the route. And some group members grow closer, telling personal stories. NO dops or shifters have made themselves known.
Perhaps Shadow discovered useful information as well?
All gather at the Manor for final preparation. Dinner arrives with alarming speed. What is discussed at dinner? Will you leave in the morning? Wait a day? Gather more information? Research more on the routes or people involved?
Please include spell lists, active effects and any other very USEFUL info a DM might ask for.
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Tuesday April 21st, 2009 11:00:48 AM
Shadow will drop his disguise in the alley right before the manor and then approach the manor as himself. He will enter and give the appropriate hand signals if any one is present. He will head upstairs and await the return of the rest of the 'Order'.
Once the group has come together again, "Well, unfortunately my contacts have no information about the bandits that work outside the city."
He will talk to Wynum when there is a chance, "My associates will not even procure those types of substances for me unless I was the only one using them. They do not want to take responsibility for the mishandling of such toxic substances. They did suggest some enchantments like 'Bane' that will do the same thing."
Edmund Tuesday April 21st, 2009 12:31:13 PM
Edmund prefers to wait until the following morning at least.
"I am not certain I can think of any other places to get information. Therefore, there really is no reason to hang about. And, if the poor fellow is still alive, every day endangers him further. We should rescue him and the cargo directly. The councilman and his silly trinket are really secondary to the life of Wil's employee."
That said, Edmund will get himself something for supper.

Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Tuesday April 21st, 2009 2:13:45 PM
Thar returns to the Manor and reports what he's learned to the group. "Ed's got a great point about the urgency of saving the fellows from the caravan. If we find the caravan, I think we'll find the councilman's 'trinket.' I'd say we should leave in the morning after a good night's rest. Of course we should set some traps and guards around the manor both before we leave, as well as tonight."
He considers what spells to memorize and responds to Shadow, "Would you recommend that I memorize Bane, if it is useful to our mission? I usually focus on bless, but can do bane if needed."
To the group, he asks, "Are there any other spells you recommend I try to memorize? I was going to do my standard (see below) spells, but will make a few changes based upon potential invisible or hidden enemies we may face."
Spell List 0 lev = Det Magic (2x), Det Poison, Guidance, Read Magic 1 lev = Bane, Bless, Comprehend Languages, Shield of Faith, Magic Weapon, Divine Favor 2 lev = Aid, Bull's Strength, Delay Poison, Restoration (Lessor), Sum Monster 2, Spiritual Weapon 3 lev = Dispel Magic, Invisibility Purge, Magic Circle vs. Evil, Sum Monster 3
Arm Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 5:59:59 AM
Arm notices Ruby's change in facial expression, and inquires if he has disturbed her in any way with his story, then apologizes. Back at the manor, he agrees with her assessment of the map, "Yes, they DO look like possible ambush locations. It's a good thing we have this map, as it will allow us to plan accordingly and possibly suprise any welcoming parties..well done!".
Once the group reconvenes, he agrees with the rest, "It's best that we get this started as soon as possible. Ruby here has mapped out the likely areas where we could be ambushed, so I suggest that some of us set out on foot before we approach these areas. That way, if anyone IS waiting for us, we can flank them to our advantage.".
Shadow [AC 24/19 HP 47/47] Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 9:28:52 AM
Shadow shakes his head to Thar's question, "Nah, I think we will be alright on this endeavor. It was just a suggestion made to me in regards to battling the shapeshifters."
He will get his gear together and get ready to depart with the others.
Wynum Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 2:02:19 PM
"Well, if we assume we'll encounter our dear shapeshifting friends, then light spells, and means of protection against poison would be needed. Otherwise, well... May I suggest protection against arrows of some sort? Maybe a way to guard ourselves against intrusion during the night? Experience has shown that our vigil is less than perfect."
Wil or won't.again...(ADM Jay B) Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 5:02:13 PM
OOC: Had trouble linking to module, but will return to game tomorrow sometime. Keep up the role playing and see you later. :)
Ruby Wednesday April 22nd, 2009 9:45:29 PM
Giving Arm a smile she shakes her head. "It is nothing you said...just old memories that I would rather not dwell on myself." She is not that convincing of a liar and it is obvious that there is more to it than that.
Glancing to the others as Arm speaks she shakes her head. "There are a number of others that might be good as well...at least for a daring bandit." As she once again pours over the map she listens to the others speak though she has nothing to add of her own. It appears that they are covering all the bases and with past experience, it might just be shapeshifters again.
Arm Thursday April 23rd, 2009 6:00:24 AM
Sensing that she is hiding a deeper pain, Arm lets it go with a small smile, and says "Well, at least I know I'm not alone with my feelings.".
As the others prepare, he thinks about what else he could bring that would be helpful, but decides to leave his lute behind, realizing that he can sing just as well and it would only get in the way.
On the Road Again...(ADM Jay B) Thursday April 23rd, 2009 6:48:20 PM
So you all prepare for traveling, some more thoroughly than others. Any final prep before tomorrow's journey starts would be recommended.
Dinner comes.
(OOC: To give you a rough idea of terrain, think lightly forested with the occasional intersections along the roadway. It is west toward Tumblevoid. Weather has been seasonally 'normal'... damp mornings, cool evenings, clear but cool days)
Wynum Thursday April 23rd, 2009 7:35:22 PM
Wynum is very much ready, so much that sleeping would probably be difficult. Which means a bad night for everyone. He spends part of the night double-checking his gear, of which he has way too much. He also mutters something about poison and shapechangers.
Ruby Thursday April 23rd, 2009 11:16:38 PM
Her smile is enough to thank Arm, or at least she hopes it is, for not pressing the matter. They all have more pressing matters to attend to and she laughs. When it is time to eat she is more than ready to settle down and have a nice meal. It is one of those odd things, her treating it as if this was her last meal.
Hopefully her sleep will not be that disturbed by the workings of others, though it most likely will. She has gotten into the habit of sleeping lightly, waking without too much trouble with the slightest noise.
Julian (Small size) ...updating CS... Thursday April 23rd, 2009 11:53:42 PM
Julian eats a lot for dinner, as usual. He will hang around for quite a while listening to the plans of the others, not contributing much - just listening. Late in the night he will retire to pack and prepare. He will inspect and sharpen and oil all those things that need it.
Arm Friday April 24th, 2009 5:56:38 AM
After the meal, Arm excuses himself to his room, both to meditate to calm himself and also to try and get a decent amount of sleep...who knows when he shall after this?
Thar AC 26/25, 70/70 hps Friday April 24th, 2009 9:08:32 AM
After finishing their dinner and conversatios, Thar works to do his part of securing the mansion for the night, consecrating the various areas and ensuring they are as protected as possible from any evil forces.
He says good night to everyone, especially Ruby, and wishes her a good night with hopefully a peaceful rest.
After his prayers, he drifts off to reverie, hoping to have an interrupted time of relaxation and reflection.
Edmund Friday April 24th, 2009 11:17:04 AM
Before going to bed, Edmund checks with the others one last time.
"Any spells you think I should memorise in particular for tomorrow, or is it up to me? I'm assuming we won't need anything unusual?"
If there are no objections, Edmund will have (another) bath, and turn in for the night.
