---------------------------------------------------------------Desperation Revisited-----------------------------------------------------

(New Scene, Addison is acting ADM. I don't know how to start a new scene with the big header separation thing.)

THE BACKGROUN

Everyone talks amongst themselves.

Dathish tunes himself with nature and focuses on healing.
Zeph talks about tactics.
Garret and Hmark exchange stories about their ranged weapons and are generally jovial.
Axara spends a lot of her time thinking
Rollo is quiet throughout most of the walking as well.
Selemar communes with his bear.
Feyjarl watches as butterflies go by.

Luckily, as the rain begins to trickle down and the dark clouds roll in and the sun sets, the group locates a cave at the foot of a hill. There is a large oak tree that sits on top of the rocky cave entrance. The cave goes into and under the hill about 20meters. The group approaches it hesitantly, as everyone knows what may reside in such a place. Zeph, Kiel, and anyone else with scouting skills explore the cave thoroughly for about 20 minutes before emerging with a big thumb's up and smiles on their faces. The wolf, Mich, and Selemar's bear smell nothing that could indicate danger within the cave.

There are a total of three rooms in the cave. The first is a small antichamber after the rocky entrance. The second is a large main room, with a few dusty blankets- it is apparent that noone has been here for some time. The few footprints that are in there are old and probably belonged to humans, as the cave is far too small for Ettins to reside. The third room looks to be some sort of loot-holding treasure room. It is empty now, but is quite separate from the other two rooms, being a long hallway between them.

The rain is absolutely pouring by the time everyone gets into the cave and a fire is going. It is dusk and the sky is gray. Everything is gray- even the once-green grass seems to be darker. The rain is pouring straight down like someone turned a faucet on full blast.

Axara ONLY Highlight to display spoiler: {Kiel goes straight to the third room and sets up a blanket. once everyone begins to fall asleep and the first watch sits at the entrance of the cave, he looks at you and tilts his head towards the third chamber, almost beckoning. Whether you decide to go or not is up to you. He tells you again he loves you and will do anything to protect you. He almost looks cute in his honesty.}

THE EVENT

During the third watch, around 4 in the morning, it is Kiel and Zeph's watch. Everyone is sound asleep- Selemar is sound in meditation.

But then something is heard outside the cave through the rain.

There is a shout. A scream even. Several of the group wake up to hear clanging of metal being carried from far away from the entrance of the cave. Listen DC 20Highlight to display spoiler: {It is about 60 or so meters outside the entrance of the cave, in the southbound direction}.

A quick look around reveals that only Zeph and Kiel are not present within the cave. It is still pouring outside.

Spellcraft DC 16 to identify spell Highlight to display spoiler: {Kiel's voice is casting Entangle. But it is interrupted in a magical fizzling sound, followed by a scream of pain.}

Something is happening. Something bad.

Axara [AC: 17 HP 30/30] Picture  d20-1=18 ; d20+12=16 ;
Saturday May 2nd, 2009 8:09:27 AM

this takes place before the event
Axara looks at Kiel and smiles. She enters the third room in the cave and see the blanket and the candle and the twinkle in Kiel's eyes and she quickly realizes what it is all about. Before today, she would have probably fell for it. But too much is storming in her mind. She looks at Kiel " Let's talk first"

.........

After a few moments the sleepers are awaken by screams and yell by both Axara and Kiel. This is a big fight between the two of them. Axara storms out, half dressed with her make up all smudged and her hair discheveled. She goes to where her tent is set up in the cave and says drily to Hmark. "Wake me up for our watch" Anyone listened can hear sobbing and her saying to herself how stupid she is and how she will never learn.

After the event
Axara roses at the sounds also she cannot identify the sound (listen 18) but she realizes what is happening. She tells the group "Idiotic Kiel was trying to cast entangle but was interupted by magic and got hurt. I think that jerk is in trouble and need to be rescued." With a complete non-enthusiastic tone she adds "Who is up to the task?"

Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21]  d20+12=29 ;
Saturday May 2nd, 2009 8:42:45 AM

-The day before-

As Zeph explains his ideas on combat tactics, Garret nods and pays close attention. He says, "I like your thinking. I'll tell you, the reason I didn't wander into that battle with those Ettins was because I was thinking they'd step on me and I'd be no good to anyone at all. I'm about as good firing from a distance as I am fighting up close, but I can do a bit more up close. Those stones I sling may not kill something big, but if I hit them with enough, they'll notice. I'll work on getting in close to help out with the flanking next time." He pauses a bit and continues, "Well, next time we're fighting something that's shorter than a tree."

-Early the next morning-

Garret jumps up with a start. Having slept near the cave entrance to enjoy the rain, he quickly points in the direction of the noise. "Quick, they're over this way!" Ignoring the rain, he heads out of the cave in the direction of the screaming. He stays close to the wall of the cave outside to ensure nothing is sneaking up behind him.

Selemar snaps out of the trance. "What? Who's over where?"

If garret and Axara are heading out into a thunderstorm, he grabs his sword and runs after. he knows a bit about lightning, and how it can be used to resolve conflict.

Shun sleeps the sleep of the just.

Rollo[AC:21 HP:42/42]
Sunday May 3rd, 2009 12:20:38 PM

Rollo is awoken by all the commotion and goings-ons. When he gets his bearings his hops to his feet and heads out with the others.

From Axara and Garret's briefing the gnome is relatively up to speed. "To the rescue then." He says shaking off the remainder of his sleep.

Dathish [HP13/43) AC:20 (spells still in effect)  d20+8=23 ;

-As they go into the cave-
Enjoying the smell of the rain and the coolness of the cave Dathish shakes of what rain has collected on him aswell as dose his wolf.
"Its not much but it should do for the night"
When Axera comes rushing out sobbing Dathish goes into her tent trying to commfort the poor women, quite upset at what Kiel has done pushing her emotionally away from the group yet again. When he beleves that she is begining to calm he leaves her to go sleep outside of the cave exite, his wolf curling around him for warmth.

-After the event-
At the very first sounds of combat the large man is awake and ready, his blade at his side and within seconds he is ready carfully Raceing forward ready to be ambushed at any second, untill further facts present themselfs his survival and protection insticts take total control, carfully watching for signs of danger he races towards the sounds of combat Mich at his side, ready to charge any oncomers.

Dathish, Garret, Selemar, and Rollo (I suppose we can assume Hmark as well, correct me later if I'm wrong Mike) decide to run into the oncoming storm to find their lost companion in valiant attempts to discover what is happening.

The wind and rain combined seem to be a hurricane almost. The once knee-high grasses of the hills are now flat- resulting in a muddy mess wherever you step. Visibility is reduced to a mere 20foot for humans and 40foot for low-light and darkvision. As a wise man once said, 'It's raining sideways!' If you try to speak to your companions, you realize quickly that you must scream almost at the top of your lungs for anyone more than 10feet away to hear you over the wailing wind. The wind and rain makes you run with your arm blocking your eyes. Only the lightning striking seems to provide light for a second enough to see anything more than your own hand in front of your face.

Still, the group presses on, determined to not let their friends succumb to some unknown horror. You can no longer hear the clanging of metal or screams of pain. Seconds seem like minutes and minutes seem like hours- often as it is when you are worried about one you care for.

Everyone Spot DC 24 Highlight to display spoiler: { You can see several patches of dry woven-grass squares on the ground with several wires coming out of them, spanning several feet in all directions. You can tell this is unnatural and probably dangerous although you do not know what it is exactly.} If someone who succeeds on the spot check shouts "watch out" or anything to that effect, you get a +2 to this check.

If you failed the Spot check above, then roll Reflex save DC 20 vs trap:
Failure of Reflex save Highlight to display spoiler: { You step on an extra-crunchy patch of grass and look down to see several wires snap in all directions around your foot. As the wires snap, several 1foot poles pop up all around you. Strung between these poles is a thick mesh of what looks to be spider-web. Your feet are instantly entangled in it and you trip and fall to the muddy ground-getting further entangled in the sticky web-substance... and quite filthy too. }

DC 20Strength check or DC22Escape artist check to break free and exit the area, with only losing a minute or so tops. Your companions can help you by either spending a minute trying to cut you free, or they can try burning the webbing- which seems unlikely in this weather.

Success of Reflex save Highlight to display spoiler: {You step on the extra-crunchy patch of grass and look down to see several wires snap in all directions around your foot. Your quick reflexes allow you to get your bearings quick enough to jump several feet and roll away from the oncoming trap. You stand up and look back to see several 1foot poles pop up with a web-substance strung between them- possibly with several of your companions stuck in the webbing. }

Someone is clearly a very good trap-smith.

Anyone who is not caught in the trap must make the decision to either go ahead and chase after the sound (which you can estimate was probably 100 or so feet ahead of you), or you can stop to help your friends. It is unknown what dangers lie ahead, but urgency is apparent, so chose carefully.

(OOC: Also, I assume that before your rest last night that any left over healing spells were cast, but you should say so and roll to specify how much damage was healed.)

Hmark  d20+4=14 ; d20+8=24 ;
Monday May 4th, 2009 8:38:01 AM

Hmark follows his companions out into the storm, pulling his hood up over his head in a futile attempt to keep his face clear of the rain. The archer has taken maybe three steps before the cowl is blown back off his face and the stinging water has drenched him from head to foot. Squinting into the gale and straining to hear the direction of the combat, Hmark presses on.

[Spot 14, Reflex 24]

Suddenly, the nimble archer leaps to his left, leaving in his wake several 1foot poles, with a web-substance strung between them, which have sprung up exactly where his was so recently standing.

"Trap!" he bellows at the top of his lungs. The archer clambers to his feet and looks around, regathering his bearings - not to mention regaining control of his bodily functions.

After a couple deep breaths, and with Red at the ready, he continues (a tad more cautiously) toward the sound. He passes as close to the already sprung trap as he can, waving at his companions to follow him.

Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21]  d20+7=17 ; d20+10=19 ; d20+6=14 ;
Monday May 4th, 2009 8:59:33 AM

Garret heads directly towards the sound he heard, ignoring the rain. Wearing little, the rain stings a bit as it pelts his bare chest. He squints his eyes and steps forcefully into the rain. He is moving along, trying to get a bead on whatever it is that is going on when Hmark yells out. Garret turns to look and see what Hmark is yelling about when his foot goes "crunch" on a section of ground. Poles pop up and Garret falls the short distance to the ground, both his feet firmly entangled in the web that seem to be working fine despite the heavy rain and wind. Garret rolls and wiggles in the mud, but he cannot get his feet free from the complex trap.

Note: Axara did not let Dathish into her tent as she needed to spend time alone.

Axara stands at the entrance of the cave as the rain comes pouring down. She sees the 4 remaining heroes rush after the sound while Feygarl is really sound asleep.

She yells "Are we abandoning camp?" but no one answers her. So without a source of light nor low or darkvision she follows the others. "This is unterly madness. What am I doing?"

She cannot see anything (spot 1d20 - 1 = 13) and get caught in the trap (Reflex 1d02 + 2 = 19). 'Just freaking great"
The dirty ugly web sticks to her robe and the hair rain falling all over her face and air is making a mess out of her. She tries to free herself (1d20+1=9) but fails miserably.

Stuck, Drenched and miserable she thinks to herself "I should have Kiel what he wanted even if he started to treat like a cow being brought to a bull to be sailled. If only I had simply to bit my lips and look at the ceiling while he acted like an animal, I would not be in this mess. But NOOOOOOOOO.... I need tender, and caresses and attention and someone caring about HOW I feel ,,,,,

she keep rethinking her life, stuck on the web in the pouring rain, unable to follow her companions.

ADM Addison HeroesLoot3

As the storm whips on, Rollo, Axara, and Garret are all on the ground, in the mud, and caught in the webbing. (feel free to roll Escape Artist and Strength checks to break free, or wait for Dathish's help. I think we will put Selemar with the entangled group)

Hmark decides to go ahead of the group, although rather cautiously.
Dathish, on the other hand, decides to help his companions. He pulls and tugs at Rollo's shoulders, but it takes him a while to get the armored gnome free- but eventually, one massive pull gets it done- two more to go, is there enough time? Dathish also ponders if the storm could perhaps be magically-influenced, but the look of the clouds reveal that it was most likely a natural storm that accompanies a select few hot summer days.

Remarkably, no one arrives to assault the trapped heroes. You cannot help but think that perhaps the goal was to either slow you down... or separate you.

Hmark and Mich run ahead about 100feet from where the trap was sprung. Zeph and Kiel are nowhere to be found. But a quick look around reveals what must have happened in the area. Hmark can plainly see signs of a battle that must have taken place. Although the rain is quickly washing it away, there is blood on the grass with several muddy footprints.

Mich sniffs the blood in the area and begins to emit a low, angry growl.

There is something else on the ground, that catches the light when lightning strikes. It is Kiel's two-bladed sword. The hilt and the magical end are in good quality, but the masterwork blade is chipped, with several pieces missing from the once-keen blade. There is also blood on both ends of the sword, but it is quickly being washed away.

Anyone who arrives soon, Survival DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: {Some of the footprints and blood are clearly human... and something else. You gasp as you realize... Orcs!}

If the area is searched thoroughly (I figure you would take 20 anyways), then you find that there is a clear path in the grass. It looks like a mixture of footprints and... someone dragging something?

The path leads far into the distance, which is beyond your view. Wherever your companions are, they are probably not there on their own free will.

[Survival 14]

Hmark scans the area for about 15 seconds before he turns and sprints back to the rest of group. The archer stops at Garret and struggles to yank the gnome free of the trap as he yells out a quick report.

"Looks like a bunch of somebodies grabbed up Kiel and Zeph and drug 'em off!" he calls out over the storm. The lad waves out into the storm. "Kiel's sword is over there. Whatever he was fighting is pretty hard."

Once he's helped free the group, Hmark leads them back to his discovery so they can check the area out for themselves.

Axara [AC: 17 HP 30/30] Picture  d20+4=15 ;

Rollo gleans no real information from the scene other than the obvious. Once everyone has assembled he will head forward with the others following the drag marks, being cautious not to stumble into anymore traps.

"Allright lets free the others and then go look for Zeph and Kiel"
Running next to Axera he looks a second at the pitiful picture before him, warmly reaching out he helps houst the dretched and depressed sorceress out of the sticky trap. After He will either go to help Selmar or if the elf is out start running with the others to the sence of the battle.
Once at the battle the Barbian will take a few seconds trying to imagine what happend,
Why did they fight so far from the cave without alerting us? He thinks To get so far they must have either chased or been chased, why not yell for help before chargeing after attackers?

Looking around he casts a quick spell to highten his abiltys to track in the wild*. after scanning the are he bends down over the same pool of blood that Mich sniffed earler, grasping at it for a second he will bring it to his nose and sniff, looking up he will speak to his companions"Orcs, I'm not shure how many, looks like the nabbed Zeph and Kiel, though from the looks of things either They didn't kill any orcs or they carried there dead away.".(any way we could know if takeing there dead is commen for orcs) Knowing the danger now he will ready himself, to face whatever is necessary to get back there companions from these attackers.
"Lets hunt some orc!"

Axara [AC: 17 HP 30/30] Picture

As Dathish frees Axara, the sorceress nods at the barbarian-druid. The hood of her robe has not protected her from the rain and the water is ruining her hair. Her make-up as run (was it the rain or tears) and she is not wearing her choker or her cutoff gloves. She is and look like a mess.

She says to no one in particular "Why would the assaillants take out our sentries and not slaughter us while we are asleep? Make no sense at all."

(OOC: You got enough rest to replenish your spells from the day before. Also, always feel free to roll any spot, search, or listen checks, or anything else you want, just to see what information you can gather at any time)

The group takes several minutes to free themselves from the intricate trap. It takes a good bit of pulling and cutting to get it done, but it happens eventually.

Dathish wonders, very wisely, why Zeph and Kiel would not have alerted the group to any intruders and why they were so far from the cave. They've got some esplanin' to do.
Axara also wonders why the sleeping group was not attacked with the sentries occupied- another good question to ask when whoever caused this is found.

It is general knowledge that Orcs usually bury their dead- so dragging back their fallen companions wouldn't be too far a stretch. But it does beg the question of 'how much of a rush were they in if they took the time to drag away their fallen.' Of course, it could just be that no Orcs were slain by Zeph and Kiel- unlikely if the Orcs were run-of-the-mill fodder... they must be good at what they do.

Eventually, everyone is freed and gets a good look at the clues. It is still raining sideways and several of the group are feeling very chilly right about now. People are in favor of hunting down the culprits as soon as possible, rather than either waiting for the storm to pass or resting a bit more. This may be a wise decision as Zeph and Kiel are obviously in a very sticky situation...

The footprints, blood, and matted grass make a decent trail as to where they went. It is only difficult to follow because of the rain. (But I assume you would take 20 on any rolls to follow it) DC 20Survival Highlight to display spoiler: {You can discern that there are at least four sets of footprints that are clearly too big to be Zeph's or Kiel's.}

You all start following the trail, cautiously (Spot checks if you would like), and going is slow but steady. Several times you slip on mud and almost eat flattened grass when walking down a hillside, but everyone tries their best to keep pace. After walking for almost an hour and a half, the ones in front see something. Visibility is still low, but those with keener vision can clearly see a rocky opening in a hill similar to the one you camped in last night.

The sun is rising slowly and the grayness is returning to the countryside. The wind slows down a bit, but the rain still falls in full force. You stand with a rocky cave opening before you. You cannot see inside the cave though, but the matted grass clearly leads in through this opening...

When Dathish mentions orcs, Garret replied, "What? I don't think orcs build those traps. Those were complicated traps like maybe something human-made. Let's go!"

As they start following the trail, Garret tries hard to see the trail and provide more clues. However, he cannot see or hear anything but the storm.

He follows the tracks to the cave, and nods at Rollo's unfamiliar advice. The archer looks over at Axara, and hesitates. His eyes flick back toward the cave.

The group of heroes ponders what should be done to start the rescue of Zeph and Kiel.

Hmark asks if going invisible and sneaking in would be a good idea.
Rollo cautions the group to be careful. Going invisible doesn't stop you from setting of traps.
Dathish is rather eager to save the two lost companions and ponders why someone with such skill at trapmaking is taunting the group. He also states that Axara's magic should be reserved for any escape attempts after the two are recovered. Mich is constantly emitting a low growl, signifying he smells something he doesn't like. (OOC: I know it takes an hour to prepare your magic for the day, but I kinda wanted everyone to have their spells prepared from the rest before. SO lets just say you took that hour before you went to sleep... trust me, your gonna need the spells. I probably just coulda let everyone stay in the cave to rest up for a day- but you guys might have tried to press on.)
Axara is willing to go along with any plan- but nothing is finalized until everyone agrees.

Garret ponders the trap-making abilities of orcs and looks around the outside of the cave. He notices something (random spot rolls are helpful=). Garret can plainly see a small path in the ground that has been worn down by people walking on it over and over again. The path goes from the entrance of the cave and curves all the way around to the backside of the cave beyond your vision. Curious.

And the rain is still pouring and minutes are passing, the sun is slowly rising.

Hmark glances at Dash. "Not gonna do 'em much good if we waltz into another trap and join 'em in the stewpot," he responds. "But, I agree making just most of us invisible ain't gonna do much good."

The archer turns to Garret. "Feel like sneakin?" And then to the others. "How 'bout we cast it on one scout - if Garret don't want to, I'll do it. Give the scout 60 seconds to get inside and then everyone else follow? So we move in quick like Dash wants, but at least got some warning."

As Hmark talks to Garret, Garret says, "That sounds like a good id... Hold it, wait. Look over there." He points to the ground near the side of the cave entrance. "And look!" He points where the trail goes around the side of the entrance and to the rear of the cave. "Clearly a large number of people have gone this way over time. Perhaps this is the appropriate way to enter the cave -- or maybe even a back way that's not as trapped as the main entrance. I think we should take a look."

Garret starts towards the trail, carefully looking for traps. He wants to peek around the side along the trail as far as he can without losing sight of his companions. If everyone follows, he will continue along to see where the trail leads.

Garret decides to follow the path less taken (but still taken a good bit, apparently) and goes around the backside of the cave. He follows the path that ends going into a flat wall on the far side of the hill. The wall is stony and the path goes right into it and ends. Garret puts his ear up to the wall and hears clearly that it is hollow and there is a space on the other side. Perhaps its more of a door... of sorts... than a wall.

The rest of the group discusses tactics on how to go about entering the cave. (Really, you guys can post as many times as you want when you are talking to each other. One post per day is strictly for combat alone.)

Rollo changes his appearance via the hat of disguise to look like a short orc in platemail. (But if you are going to pretend to be an orc, you should roll disguise- although the hat gives you a huge bonus, there is still a chance of failure. Orc mannerisms and speech patterns must also be mimicked)
Dathish's senses don't tell him much information at the moment, but he does a good job taking lead of the situation and offers some tactical advice.
Hmark comes up with the idea of a scout to go in first. Caution is good afterall.
Axara waits for a plan. Is she eager to see if Kiel is ok?

Everyone is gathered outside the rocky stone-and-brick side entrance.
Garret Listens to the wall and hears a few echoes coming from the other side. He searches for some sort of keyhole or lever to open the "door". There is none. But fortunately the rocky makeshift door was put together hastily. All anyone need do is take the bricks out and put them aside. The process takes only a minute or so, and the opening is large enough for humans to fit through.

Rollo cleverly disguises himself as an orc and walks in, with Garret closely behind, hidden in the shadows and moving quite quietly.

Dathish, Axara[/b, and [b]Selemar] decide to wait outside in the rain for now.

When Rollo and Garret walk in, they see before them a long hallway. No one is in sight, but it is quite dark, and visibility is LOW. The only way you can keep from tripping over rubble of broken stones is to keep your hand on the side of the cave wall and walk slowly... unless you decide to light a torch (Or have darkvision).

The two shorter members of the party walk forward about 20feet with no trouble. If you think it appropriate to tell your companions outside it is safe to join you in the long, cramped, dark, hallway, then do so.

But eventually, as you walk the long, narrow hall for about 5minutes... you come to a large, large room. It must be about 50feet in both directions and it is lit by a few torches on the sides- but still, visibility is low.

There is noone in sight, and nothing but normal 'cave' sounds can be heard...

He pops out and says, "There's a very dark hallway here, and it leads up to large room. There's a few torches there, but its still quite dark. Use your hand on the wall to keep track of where you're going until you get to the torches. We haven't seen or heard anything inside so far. Come on in!"

He turns and moves back into the hallway, again touching the wall to guide himself back inside until he is back with Rollo.

The group decides to vnture through the long, dark, cramped hallway. THey eventually find the big room that is dimly lit by a few torches. There is one torch about 50foot away from your current position in either direction- and since they are on the wall, that makes the room about 100feet long- by esimations. Water drips down on the sides of the cave- it's a very leaky place.

You stand in the doorway between the two rooms and look around for cautions sake. It's a good thing too.

Garret (and his nat 20 roll on listen) can plainly hear some ticking coming from the ceiling area. Further inspection of the area reveals a glimmer of light- a reflection from the torches- off of something on the cealing. Is it metal up there? A blade actually!

Selemar's Keen eyes notice suspicious holes in the wall on both sides- with an intricate patchwork of raised and lowered brick pieces on the floor of the cave. Further inspection of this floor reveals that there is only a few stones that do not have dust on them... stones leading in a path- a very roundabout path.

Rollo boldly follows Axara's words and takes a step on the non-dusty raised brick. Nothing clicks or goes off. There is no explosion. But Rollo spot check DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: { You see a thin wire going across the stone where your foot is. It seems to be a trip-wire of sorts and it stretches across the floor in and you cannot see where it is connected to.}

If you fail the spot check then you step on a trip wire and do DC 18Reflex save vs traps.
If you fail Highlight to display spoiler: {A large blade drops from the ceiling where you are and lands clear on your shoulders dealing 16 points of damage. The blade then clashes to the floor behind you.}
If you succeed Highlight to display spoiler: {A large blade drops from the ceiling where you are and you quickly take a jumping-step backwards. Blade crashes to a tile that has dust on it and several arrows shoot from the holes in the wall.}

Whether you succeed or not on either roll, there seems to be more than just one trap in this room. After you notice the trip-wire (one way or another), you look for more of them, and if you shine a light (which you haven't said you did yet) then you can see a variable spider-web of wires all along the floor. Similar to the one you saw (or stepped on).

This seems to be a riddle of sorts.

Garret's keen ears also hear a click and a tick in the wall area after Rollo steps on the floor. He looks over to see the holes in the wall.

How many traps are there? Are they separate or connected? How do you get around both trip-wires and step on the right stones?

Plenty of questions. This seems to be a battle of wits between you and your enemies.

ADM Addison HeroesLoot3
Thursday May 14th, 2009 12:50:43 AM

The group discusses what should be done next in the rescuing of the lost party members.

Axara and Garret feel that the back entrance is simply the wrong way, and that perhaps the front entrance would yield better results.
Rollo and Dathish however, feel that the back entrance is the best way to enter the cave, being as the traps would surely be fewer the back way in.
Hmark feels that plan A, as in going invisible and walking into the front entrance is a good idea.
Dathish also has the idea to set off the traps from afar. Of course, the question for this tactic is simply, 'do the traps reset after they trigger?' Well, the guillatine- like-blade that descended from the ceiling is not connected to its place of origin in any way, and lies on the ground at your feet. There are still many more blades stuck to the ceiling though.
Selemar, with little knowledge of traps, simpl asks what everone else thinks.

(OOC: yeah, Rollo, I know you said you were following the others. But noone else went, so I did my best with what was written. Also, everyone, don't be afraid to post more than once when discussing what actions to take, but for anything to happen, actions must be stated. There are several solutions to this problem to reach your goal- and you have all the tools you need. I won't be dropping any more hints. Get creative.=))

So, the information you have is this: There is a front entrance in front of which the path of the flattened grass from someone being dragged ends. There is a smaller path to a back entrance with a quickly put together wall and dark hallway. There is dust on some tiles and no dust on others in a large room. There are trip wires over the tiles on the floor, about knee high. A blade fell from the ceiling when Rollo stepped into the room and hit a trip wire.

So, after some deliberation, the group decides that using one of Selemar's spheres of fire is the best way to get past the trapped room. Selemar casts Flaming Sphere and rolls the ball across the floor to burn as many trip wires as he can. The wires light up quickly and snap with several popping sounds. With each popping sound, there is a click from the ceiling and a guillotine-like-blade drops from the ceiling and crashes to the tile floor. With each blade that drops onto the floor, a set of arrows shoot from the holes on the walls and they zip right past the blade. There is an ominous click from the holes in the wall after the arrows fire. The spell lasts long enough to cross the large majority of the room. There are at least two-dozen blade that fall in all. Is it safe now?

(OOC: Sorry Rollo. I misinterpreted your post again. I'm still new at this. =)

Garret suggests that everyone ready their weapons as the group traverses the room.
Selemar loathes the loss of his flaming sphere spell- but perhaps it was a spell well-used.
Rollo looks for an other doors on the other sides of the room while the ball of flame illuminates the place. He sees two actually. One, the non-dusty tiles leads to, and the other, nothing but a sea of dusty tiles between you and it.
Axara stands there with a sour look on her face.
Dathish Awaits anxiously.
Hmark is present.

Anyone who desires to step first finds a non-dusty tile and steps... nothing happens. THe smell of burning rope fills the room with a little smoke.

Axara is pondering what just has happened "how could Kiel, so sweet and caring at first could become so rudeless and animalistic as soon as she dropped half her robe? How could the ranger get in such a frenzy to want to take her agasint her will and against nature?"
She frawns even more as she recalls the situation "sadly this was not the first time so I learned to call magic energy in my hands in such a situation. When he realized that I would not let him treat me like an animal and let be taken in such an awful way and would use magic to stop him, he just went berzerk and said things I would never forget. What happened to him? What kind of beast did I awake in him? What everything he did to be more just a lie? Was he just pretending to court me to ensure I would be docile to his barbaric idea?

She takes out the nightshade and throws it on the ground and step on it.

Why am I risking my like to save him? She starts contemplenting going back to the camp and let him rot where ever he is.

will follow the group

ADM Addison HeroesLoot3  3d6=9 ; d3=3 ;
Tuesday May 19th, 2009 2:00:54 AM

En large the group decides to make the trek across the non-dusty tiles. There are at least 3 one-foot tiles between each non-dusty one, making travel a small hop for some (and a simple stride for Dathish)and a semi-large leap for Rollo in particular. There are also several dozen two-foot-long guillotine-like-blades resting on broken tiles, making the job of traversing the path, staying on the right square, and avoiding sharp objects quite difficult.

The difficulty depends on your movement speed (unless you invent another way to avoid the trap). Move speed of 15'feet DC 18, 20feet DC 16, 30feet DC12, 40feet DC8 Balance or Jump check.(whichever you prefer, but just roll once for the whole room).

If you fail the check Highlight to display spoiler: {As you hop from square to square, you slip on a stone or miss your mark and your foot hits a nearby-square to the one you intended on landing on. There is a quick click sound from the holes in the far wall on your right side. You look over to see some arrows fly at you. So roll DC 15Reflex save vs traps (Garret already succeeded) or take 9 points of damage. If you fail this reflex save and are hit by the arrows, then roll DC 12Fort save or suffer 3points of temporary strength damage. You feel a sting of poison as the arrows hit and your extremities feel rather numb.}

So the group traverses the tiles to the doorway in which they lead. The order is Garret, Hmark, Axara, Dathish, Selemar, Rollo with the pets waiting back at the long hallway door. You count about 20 or so tiles of jumping, leaving you a good 60 or so feet from the old hallway into the room.

You are only about 6 more feet from the new door opening, which seems to lead into another fairly dark hallway. Then, Garret and Dathish spot something.and both them and Hmark hear a crackling coming from the path ahead. In front of you there is a small bit of electrical sparking, or lightning, going in a line hovering 3feet from the tile floor. It emits a dim blue glow, and the crackling electricity forms a trip-wire-like line.

Spellcraft DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: { This is clearly some sort of magical trap. They come in several varieties that can attack either the mind or body. If you roll much higher than 18, I will reveal more information about it.}

Those of you who were present during the retrieval of the Book of the Guided Way are reminded of the library-trap that compelled people to exit the forbidden room.

Garret's keen eyes also spot something else. In the new doorway that you are 6feet (and two tile jumps) in front of there are several lever-looking objects sticking out of the wall of the doorway.

Axara [AC: 17 HP 30/30] Picture  d20+2=21 ; d20+12=32 ;

Axara traverses the room without being getting hit. (Balance: 1d20 + 2 = 21).

She recognizes the spell and know everythign there is to know about it (Spellcraft 1d20 + 12 = 32 natural 20) but does not provide the information to the group.

"Listen, I do not really like this spell. I think we are being quite stupid of going this way through traps. What are we trying to avoid? Combat? We will fight to get Pretty Boy and Animal back. So why don;t we just go through the front door?

She walks back to the entrance of the room.

Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21]  d20+7=21 ;
Tuesday May 19th, 2009 9:08:32 AM

Garret nimbly jumps from one tile to the other, occasionally looking back to see how the others are doing. When he gets close to the end, he stops and leans back towards Hmark and says in a loud whisper, "Look there. And over there." He points out the electrical trap and the space with the levers. "Do you think we can just slip under that electricity, or will that set off the trap?"

He prepares to call back to Axara, but he stops when he sees her head back for the entrance.

"Well, I guess she's not going to help us figure this thing out. I guess I'll head over for these levers if no one else knows about the electrical trap. I still wonder if we can just slip under the line."

With that, Garret heads over to the levers, assuming he can find a non-dusty tile path to them.

When he enters the next hallway he finds a place to sit down and admire the arcing blue bolts. "I've seen one of those before. It'll either mess up your thinker." Rollo points to his head. ", or your doers." Rollo indicates his bicep, which he is having a bit of trouble flexing at the moment.

Hmark dances across the tiles without any issue, but comes to a quick halt when he hears the sound of crackling lightning. He nods when Garret points out the line and the levers.

"Whaddya wanna bet them levers turn off all these traps?," he remarks. "You go out, steal a few bodies, come back home, flip a switch, and 'boom', snug as a bug in a rug."

Axara makes her comments and turns to leave.
"Not sure its gonna make a difference," he answers to her retreating back.

The archer turns back to regard the levers before him. He places a hand on Garret's shoulder to prevent the gnome from trying to crawl under the lightning.

"I got an idea," he says.

The lad sloughs off his backpack and pulls out a rope and grappling hook. Attaching the two, he attempts to toss the hook and snag a lever.
[Keep trying till it catches - Take 10 is a to hit of 22]

Once it snags, Hmark will see if he can yank one of those levers into the (hopefully) off postition.

Axara watches the effort of the group, Rollo being hit, Garrett risking the spell effect to go to the levers and Hmaek trying his best with his grapple hook. May be it is the fatigue and the effect of what has happened, actually did not happen between her and Kiel, but somehow, she softens. May be it is emotional lassitude and overload of her feelings, but she somewhat sees the group in a different light.

"This is not a job for these guys. This is the real thing for them. They are actually risking their life to save Pretty Boy and Animal. It is not about getting rid of the Codex, but keeping the group together. These guys are for real, somehow,"

She walks back to the group and for the first time since she joined this rag tag of characters, wants to help them. "it must be the fatigue"

She approaches Hmark. "Sorry guys. Although I do think the front entrance is probably what we needto go through, I will follow your plan. Let me see if I can move these levers using my prestidigitation spell. I doubt it will work but it is the least I can try for you guys."

She covers her head with her hood halway and starts an incantation and focuses on the first lever, to see if she can move it.

What is happening? Why do I care about these guys?"

En large, the group decides that this is the right way to go. Everyone has their own idea of how to get past this last leg of the trapped room, and it proves somewhat productive.

Axara ONLY because of your nat 20 on spellcraft Highlight to display spoiler: { You can clearly see the runes that the electrical wire is coming from. They are a heavy enchantment magic that will clearly mess with a person's mind if it were to be triggered. Perhaps a confusing effect, or a knock-out type thing. It also seems that if it is triggered once, then it will go away for a few minutes to recharge, before coming back. }

Garret has the idea of simply playing limbo with the wire, crossing the path and trying to avoid it. This may be an ok idea. The thin wire of electricity is about 3feet off the ground, so it would be hard for someone to duck, jump over to the tile that the wire is hovering above, and then proceed to jump to the next tile while still ducking. Still, it seems difficult, but it can be done with the right degree of athletics. (Roll some applicable skill checks, do your discretion, and we will see what happens if you decide to give it a go. The DC will be around 18 or 20ish, but maybe it can be done. We'll see what happens.)

Rollo succumbs to the poison from the arrows (why is he getting hit so much today?). Fortunately Dathish somehow prepared for such an event. The numbing sensation does not spread any further, but it is still rather hard to flex.

Hmark, after seeing the levers and switches figures out the simple plan that was boggling the group moments ago. These orcs- or whatever- clearly planned this well in advance. He also has the idea of using a grappling hook to catch one of the levers and give it a pull. He swings his rope like a lasso, but it is very difficult to try to hit the lever that is several feet away while trying to avoid hitting the electrical trip wire and not let the hook hit the tiles while balancing on a single 1foot tile. (So, if you miss there is negative consequences, thus taking 10 wont work. The DC to hit a lever with the rope is 16, the roll is Dexmod+BAB+1d20. If you fail by 4 or less, then the Hook will hit the floor tiles, if you fail by more than 4, it will hit the electrical wire... There are three levers, roll once for each if you wish.)

Axara has a realization about the group as a whole and chooses to try her hand at helping. She focuses Prestidigitation on one of the levers, but it gives only a little shake to the cantrip spell. Axara can't help but think the spell Mage Hand would fair better, but Prestidigitation can do nothing more than dry clothes or change water into wine.

Dathish Keeps a very keen eye and ear out for any signs of danger as he does mighty leaps from tile to tile. Fortunately, the group is alone in the room with nothing but a few doors and torches... and burnt useless wires... and tiles that trigger arrows... and a mysterious electrical trap. An odd thought pops into the barbarian druid's head... Throw Garret?... who said that? But it is just foolishness....

She addresses the group "This electric wire will trigger some nasty mind boglging effect and will reset quite fast. Let me give you the time to go to the levers. Tell my mother that I loved her and tell her that I am sorry for all the heartaches I caused. Tell my dad I never stopped loving him, even after he sold me. Tell Kiel that I never truely loved him. Selemar has the idea of summoning an animal and trying to get it to pull a lever. Seems like a simple enough task- you can get summoned animals to attack opponents and perform other tricks easy enough.

Garret decides to let Hmark have his go with the grappling hook before trying his acrobatics.

Unfortunately, Hmark doesn't have a chance to give it a try before Axara feels that the best way to get past the trap is to use herself to set it off.

Dathish makes a mad dash to stop Axara, but alas, the order of the group had Rollo in the back of the line and Axara in the front with Hmark and Garret. He manages to grab her by the wrist and give a pull, but only gets her black glove in his hand as she slips out of it and jumps into the electrical trap.

When Axara hits the trap, there is a quick buzz of electricity that starts where her legs hit the wire and travels quickly to her head. The electricity makes her neat dark hair stand on end and frizz out. She turns to the group and her eyes seem rather blank (Will DC was 18, sorry). Then, suddenly, her feet begin to do an odd dance on the squares around the safe one she is standing on (it looks like someone playing DDR). She also does a hop-scotch jump on other trapped tiles before returning to her safe one. This results in 6 trapped tiles being stepped on (I rolled 1d6 and got 6). She comes out of the trance to see a bombardment of arrows flying at her from the far wall with the holes in it.

Axara Make a total of 6 Reflex DC 15 saves vs traps. Success means you dodge that arrow and take no damage and do not need further saves, failure means you take the damage for that one. The arrows do damage above in that order if you fail the reflex save: first one does 11, second does 11, third does 7, fourth does 6, fifth does 9, and sixth does 15. For any reflex DC that you fail, make a Fort save DC 12 vs poison. Any fort DC that you fail has the strength temporary damage in the order above: first has 1, second has 2, third has 3, fourth has 3, fifth has 2, sixth has 3. You can come out of this fine with a few successful reflex saves and a few successful forts, or you can be hurt pretty badly... thus is the luck of DnD.

When the trap is triggered, there is a clicking from some runes on the wall and the electrical wire is gone- its power dissipated for a minute or so. Hmark takes this opportunity to dash past her and he flips all three levers. With each flip, there are several gears grinding and clicks from all over the room. Unfortunately, since order of initiative goes with who posted first, Hmark does not hit the switches fast enough to turn off the arrow trap before Axara does her little jig. Hmark turns just in time to see Axara trying to doge arrows.

Rollo and Selemar stand by with their healing spells at the ready.

After Hmark hits the levers, the electrical trap does not come back and anyone trying to step on tiles to test it out finds that even though the tile still gives a bit, there are no arrows that come flying from the wall.

Godspeed Axara, godspeed.

(OOC: Here's the ruling. I took everything into consideration, including your email Dathish. I read everything about five times and here we go. Axara wants her character to live, so she used a Hero point to reroll one of the Reflex saves. Because she gave me permission to roll her Fort saves for her, I took the liberty to roll for this reflex reroll save. Its 17, she succeeded. As a compromise for her survival, I am ruling that if she knew about the Hero Point reroll when she made her post, she would have rerolled the FIRST failed reflex save before making the next 5. So, the first Ref save that she made, which was 14, is replaced with 17. She does not take the 11 damage from it, so total damage is 11+6+15= 32, she's at -2hit points, alive but dying. I also rolled her Fort saves vs DC 12, they were Success, fail, success. SO she failed Fort save number 4, resulting in 3 temp str damage. I considered letting Dathish's attempt to take some of the blow happen, but he rolled a reaction Ref save of 7. If it was like a 14 I would have Dathish take one of the blows. Fair?)

Here's the flavor text:

Axara stands on her square that the electrical wire was once hovering above with her dark hair standing on end as a total of 18 poison-tipped arrows fly at her (3 for each tile she danced on). She dodges the first volley with some heroic effort, doing an lean-back matrix move to dodge them (Ref17 hero point usage). Unfortunately, as she pulls herself up after her first dodge, the second volley of arrows catch her in the legs and arms (Ref13, Damage11). She winces in pain, but the poison is fought off by her body (Fort16). She opens her eyes in time to see the third volley and pulls a odd limbo tactic combined with a pirouette to dodge them(Ref 17). Then, she is off-balance and on her toes and the fourth volley swipes her beautiful face, leaving some deep wounds (Ref 14, damage 6). Luckily, Dathish swipes his sword to cut down two of the arrows, and only one leaves its deep scar on her left cheek. This time, her mouth and cheeks go rather numb from the poison that drips green from the wound (Fort 7, str damage 3). After feeling that pain in her face, Axara does not want to feel it again and readies herself for the fifth volley. This one, she dodges with extreme and unnatural dexterity (Ref 23), jumping clear over the arrows like a hurdler. Unfortunately as she jumps over the fifth, she jumps straight into the sixth and final arrows. They all catch her straight in the chest (Ref 14, Damage 15, Fort 24), throwing her to the ground.

After the last hit her in the chest, Axara stumbles a bit, coughs up some blood, and hits the ground hard (-2 hit points friends). Her lips are extremely blue and she is losing blood fast as the pool spreads on the now-disabled tiles and trails in the cracks of the floor.

Luckily, Selemar and Rollo are standing in attendance with their healing ability while the rest of the group watch in utter horror at the sorceress's brash actions.

Garret watches, frozen, as Axara takes the arrows one after another. His mouth opens when she slumps to the ground, but before he can react, Selemar steps up with his magic wand. He shakes his head and mutters under his breath, "crazy witch."

When he sees that Selemar is taking care of her, Garret quickly moves about and assesses the situation. He sees that Hmark has disabled the traps, he moves over to the entranceway and looks around for enemies as the others (presumably) help Axara back to her feet and away from the trapped area. Garret will move a little ways down the hallway, just enough to give the group enough room to move Axara (and everyone else) out of the trapped room. He will attempt to stay hidden from anyone or any thing else in the hallway in the opposite direction.

Hmark's shoulders relax as he notes Selemar and Rollo ministrate to Axara's wounds. She'll be all right.

With that, he turns to keep watch over Garret, who has moved on ahead. His ears are still focused behind him, however, as the archer is somewhat curious how Axara is going to respond to Selemar and Rollo.

(ooc Strategy: I'm gonna go in with Armor of Faith, Glibness, Sanctuary, and comprehend language, not to mention looking and acting like an orc, and see if I can get them talking, perhaps to the point of turning Zeph and Kiel over to me. If not, while I'm talking Axara should turn at least two of you inviso, so you can sneak in behind me and set up for an attack, and potentially free the other two before an attack is necessary. Just to make it clear, Garret is not trying to move ahead, he's just moving into the hallway enough to be out of the trapped room and so that there's room to get everyone else out of the danger area and to tend to Axara as needed. While he's doing so, he's spotting ahead so that nothing appears and surprises the group.

As Rollo and Selemar look over Axara's wounds and heal her, the both notice that one deep laceration in particular will not heal fully without some serious cosmetic magic due to the poison that took affect(perhaps a regeneration spell?). This is the cut on her left cheek. It seems the arrow took out a bit of cheek bone when it bit into her, leaving a small depression in her face along with a scar spanning her cheek to her ear. Although she is still quite beautiful and stunning, the scar is noticable- perhaps a mark that will remind her of her decisions. Her lips are still a bit blue and numb, but the rest of the arrows come out of her torso as the healing spells are being cast, leaving only tiny marks of where the once were.

Dathish watches over the healing and worries about the poison and what is to come. (You can keep your rage for the day since it was kind of a jumble of actions that could sorta but not really be taken at the same time. Besides... you may need it. Secondly, Axara made 2 of the saves and only failed the one that got her 3str damage. I decided not to do the secondary damage for several reasons. Your spell on Rollo is stopping the poison from effecting him for an hour or so, therefore his strength is still at its full 9 for a while... but Axara's is down a bit)

Garret decides to move ahead, with Hmark close behind. There is another hallway after the trapped room, much like the long, dark one you took to reach the room. Again, you must put your hand on the side of the wall.

When you get halfway down the dark, cramped hallway, you begin to hear something echoing from the walls about 15feet ahead of you. There seems to be a bit of a conversation going on and Garret and Hmark are catching the tail end of it.

There is a low, deep, powerful voice that carries down the hall. It is saying "You did well capturing these two. With the boy's blood, we have one more ingredient needed. The next part of your job is to either kill the rest if they decide to try to rescue their companions... or slow them down so we can get to our next objective. Your tribe will be well rewarded when all is said and done. And if you dare double-cross us... your families will suffer."

With that, there is the low mumble of words being uttered followed by a loud POP. Spellcraft DC 19 Highlight to display spoiler: { It is a teleportation spell}

After that, Garret notices two beady yellow eyes in the darkness about 10feet ahead of him, in front of a doorway to the room in which the voices came from. They dark around suspiciously but do not notice him.

Garret quickly and quietly moves back down the hall to report back to the others. "Trouble ahead, but we are close. I just overheard someone telling some others that they had done a good job in capturing our friends. In addition, he said that they were the next to last ingredient for something or other. They are on guard and intend to kill us or at least slow us down until the other guy can finish his plan. And he appears to have captured their families and they fight us only to keep from having their families killed.

"I was unable to see what sort of creatures were ahead, but down the dark hallway there I saw two pairs of eyes, so they appear to be guarding and ready for us, but perhaps unaware of all the noise we have just made. Perhaps sound does not carry here as much as we thought.

"Either way, we must hurry because whoever this is gave them instructions to delay us while he completed his task. I think he then cast some kind of spell, because I thought I heard something that sounded magical after he spoke to them. He also mentioned some sort of boy's blood that was an ingredient to his task, whatever that is.

"As I see it, I think our best bet is to get these creatures, whatever they are, on our side somehow. Since they are fighting because they are afraid of their families being hurt, we may have a chance to convince them that we will help save their families if they will return our friends. Otherwise, we are likely to have quite a battle ahead."

Dathish thinks that its best to rescue the orc's families somehow and questions what could be behind such an organized capture.
Selemar thinks that a quick escape plan is in order.

The hallway ahead of you is quiet and dark. No more sounds can be heard echoing throughout the stone cave... except maybe a grumble in the far distance down the hall, in the direction the previous voice came from.

Garret replies to Selemar, "No, I think we need to do as Dathish has suggested -- we need to rescue those orcs families, somehow. I'm not sure they're going to let us get close enough to talk to them, but perhaps that's the best idea to start. Does anyone speak their language?

"If we can, perhaps we can talk to them first and find out where their families are. If they will talk, we can at least try to help them. If they will not accept our help and they attack us, we will have no choice but to defend ourselves. I wonder if we should try and grab one or two of them and talk, or if we should openly approach and attempt to talk to them. I think perhaps that last idea should be the best."

The group each make their suggestions as to the best strategy to approach the kid-nappers with.

A plot of "Talker talk with invisible muscle standing at the ready and try to free our captured friends" is hatched.

Only a few things I need to know: 1)Marching order (in general, map will be provided shortly). 2) Who will be invisible and where will you be going/standing, 3) If Rollo will have his hat of disguise changing his appearance or not.

There are always options to fighting- and it seems worth exploring such things... Dathish is right: information is your companion.

Before you is the long, dark hallway leading to a room in which the voices were heard. There is some eyes in the dark before the room standing guard that did not notice Garret with his sneakyness when he walked up and heard the conversation.

With all the traps disarm, your animal companions Shun and Mich join you.

The plan comes together as such: Rollo will walk into the room where the sound came from, disguised as an orc and attempt to make an offer in order to get back Zeph and Kiel while Hmark, Dathish, and Garret hide in various ways and attempt get in good striking position or try to rescue the captured teammates. This effectively gains the opportunity to offer an easier solution (diplomacy) as well as stay within striking advantage if a fight were to break out. The animal companions could accompany Rollo into the discussion. Let us only hope that the individuals within the next room are willing to talk and wont be able to hear our sneaky Heroes.

(ooc: The map should be up soon. Just say when you want to walk in or change the plan accordingly. State your relative position if/when yall decide to make your move. =)

Axara is quite stunned from the ordeal with the last trap and nods slightly when someone mentions "invisible". It seems that she can cast the spell for you guys on whomever, but will not be able to help out beyond that. She will remain in the room before or perhaps the first dark hallway and recover. (ooc: I was told Axara/Alain should be back in a week or so. As a compromise I'm trying to get permission to use her invisibility spell for your plan but make it so she doesn't have to post.)

Axara casts Invisibility on Dathish, Hmark, and Garret for good measure before retreating to the corner of he once-trapped room. She seems quite shaken up by the whole ordeal but should be fine once the color comes back to her lips.

Rollo takes the lead by walking down the hallway towards the next opening. Rollo hears a gasp as he approaches the doorway and sees two beady yellow eyes in the dark before the door opening. Rollo then begins to say his speach, which is very believable. The being before you is an orc- short and skrawney for an orc with a deep forest-green hue to his skin, he is slightly hunched over and his fingers dart back and forth around twin short swords at his belt, unsure of how to react. He is also wearing a very familiar Mithril Chain Shirt... one that looks like something one of your companions once wore. He believes that Rollo is sincere but is very confused (what was your disguise check btw Rollo?). His eyes dart around Rollo frame and he sees the three animal companions and he gasps again. Quite frankly, he doesn't know what to make of a strange unknown orc running to the room he was guarding with three pets in towe.

Finally, after an awkward moment, he speaks in Orcish with a gutteral pirate-esque accent "I don't know what ye speak of, but ye should talk to me leader, aye?" With that, he turns and walks into the room.

In the room, Rollo and everyone else invisible or otherwise hidden follows. The room is large for a cave room- at least 50 or 60feet long by a few less wide.

You quickly spot several things:
Firstly, Zeph has his hands chained to a wall by manacles. He is hanging a foot or so off the floor by his chained wrists. His foot twitches slightly when you enter the room, but seems unconcious. His dark hair seems even darked since it is matted to his head with blood. He is bare-chested with several cuts on his body. You can even see the rawness of his wrists. He is on the far wall, at least 40feet from Rollo position by the entrance.
Secondly, there is a cage next to Zeph that houses the limp form of Kiel. He is on the floor of the cage and not moving. There is a good quantity of blood accompanying him on the floor of the cage.
Next you see someone laying in the corner of the room on a bedspread. It is an orc- an old one. He has a white beard and he is snoring loudly. Next to him lies a quarterstaff and sling.
Then, in the center of the room, is are two orcs that apparently you were brought to see. One is extremely large- even for orcish standards. He is wearing tanned leathers and is brandishing a very large two-handed axe. He has a sloping forehead that is exaggerated by his frown when the disguised Rollo shows up.
The other orc in the center of the room is holding a large two-handed mace in one of his hands. In the other is a crystal of some sort. He is wearing a dark purple robe with a depiction of a Bull's horns on the front of it.
This robed one must be the leader because he speaks up first, "Who is this, Krusak?" he asks the skrawney guard-orc, his tusks bearing with each syllable.

Krusak replies "Just ran in screaming mad about 'time to save them'" Krusak, the skrawny orc replies.

The robed one raises an eyebrow and says, "Who are you and what are you doing here? We are expecting guests soon... those not of our color." he says menacingly, with a strong air of authority.

Then, Hmark who is invisible, notices that Krusak's ears perk up a bit when he steps more loudly than he had hoped. Krusak snarls a bit and his beady eyes dart more and more, but nothing is said about it.

(ooc: Concerning the current crisis: I was given permission by DMKathy to have the group use Axara's ability to turn people invisible, according to everyone's plan. So, I did just that on Thursday night's post. I sent Alain an email before I posted asking him/her to say "no" if he/she didn't want that to happen. There was no reply. The request for us not to use her spells was made today, Friday, after the post. Since players do not have the power to go back in time to change what has already happened and permission was granted prior to the decision and no objections were made until AFTER it already happened, my ruling is that she did cast the invisibility spells on the three group members. She simply won't be where ya'll left her when you return to find her. So there, crisis averted and nothing has changed. Everyone do what actions you wish, particularly Rollo with his conversation... I'm quite intrigued as to what the Heroes will do, honestly. Next post will be on Monday at 12midnight. Have a good weekend all. =)

Garret sees that there is no locking mechanism holding the cage door closed. It hangs open slightly. As he moves forward, he sees Kiel lying on his side in a pool of dark blood. Flies skip across his face and he is not moving to stop them.

Everyone do me a favor and put your skill check rolls that are applying to the post at the bottom on parenthesis so I do not have to scroll up several days to see what the roll was that you did a long time ago. It only takes one roll to apply for an action or conversation, but a conversation or action could take several posts, so just keep the roll in your post with something like "Move Silent check from before=21" or something. Thankies =)
