Ruins of Rattledam

The Refugees (DM JohnP)
Wednesday May 27th, 2009 10:58:01 PM

The young woman waits for only a moment before some of the Bloodpack turn back towards the ruins of Rattledam. Yanosh moves to assist the young woman but she waves him off, saying that there are others who need healing far more than she. Trellus and Gilan also turn and move towards the despairingly small crowd of people straggling from the collapsing city of Rattledam. Vayine moves along with them, silently preparing to lend his strength to help the residents of Rattledam.

Grymash, though, had already begun preparing to begin bearing the Child to the Manfri and some of the others, particularly Tishe' and Olaf, are waiting to see how the half-orc responds. In fact, Yanosh has turned back to see how the other cleric of Gargul responds. Flea is also wavering back and forth between returning to her home and completing the task set before the Bloodpack by the God of Life and Death.

The young woman walks with them, listening silently as Yanosh and Gilan state their feelings about the Council of Rattledam. She shakes her head, seeming lost in thought.

"The Council ... has been around for a long time. This ... this ... we want to look to someone can lead us. At least, that's what my Ma and Da said."

Trellus is nearing the group of people, scanning to see if he can find his parents and other loved ones. The human cleric is becoming worried when he hears a familiar voice, rising above the general rumble of conversation in a keening wail. Trellus pushes his way through the crowd towards the sound of his mother's voice. When he gets close, he sees his mother kneeling over the body of his father. She has one of his hands clasped in both of hers and is rocking back and forth furiously as she wails in grief. His brother Danner is kneeling behind her, resting a large hand on her back. A couple people that Trellus recognizes as neighbours are also nearby, scraped and bruised and some favouring arms or legs.

Trellus' mother looks up, somehow sensing his approach. Her mouth begins to spread into a smile before breaking, trembling as she sobs quietly. She begins to speak quietly to her son.

"Trellus! You're here! Oh, son ... Your father, he got us out ... got us moving when things ... things started. He dragged ... made me leave your grandmother's things ... never mind ..."

Her voice rises slightly as she continues speaking, a note of pleading entering her voice.

"Son ... can you ... for your father?"

Danner speaks without looking up from their father, once the biggest and strongest man that Trellus knew and who now looks so small laying there in the trampled grass. His brother's voice is quavering, as if Danner is choking back tears.

"He got us out, brother. He worked ... pushed, pulled, whatever. Then, once we were outside, he grabbed his chest and collapsed. We tried ... everything. But ..."

Trellus' brother falls silent, his shoulders gently shaking as Danner covers his face with a hand.

Grymash (ac24 hp59/125, bulls strength)
Wednesday May 27th, 2009 11:33:45 PM

Grymash considers what Yanosh says to him and sees the wisdom in them. He can't turn his back on those who have died and those struggling to keep their lives. Grymash turns and starts to walk toward Rattledam.

Trellus HP 75/93
Thursday May 28th, 2009 9:56:36 AM

The healing spell is on his lips even as his mother is talking. Trellus casts the spell first, unwilling to spend any precious time on even a cursory inspection of his father.
[Cast CLW]

Nothing happens.

The blond man casts the spell again. Which is pointless - the first spell would have been more than enough for a simple potter.

And, of course, nothing happens.

"No."
He falls to his knees between his mother and brother, staring at the broken body. His mouth opens, then closes. His eyes dart over the body, searching vainly for any sign of hope. His shoulders slump. Tears streaming down his face, he chokes out meaningless words in stattaco phrases, unable to complete a sentence.
"I can't......he's not......there's not.......I can't.......I can't.......dad......I can't..."

The cleric looks up at his mother, and her eyes do it. He breaks down, buries his face in his hands, and sobs uncontrollably next to his dead father.

Gilan[HP: 104/108 - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider, barkskin, greater magic fang, mass bull's strength, prayer]
Thursday May 28th, 2009 6:08:25 PM

Gilan stands back and watches in vain, for their was nothing that he could do. There was a compulsion to go to his friend and packmate...but he also feels that he needs to be as alone as possible right now. Glancing around he tries not to show his own tears for these people had been good to him for as long as he can remember living here. He felt that in some small way, he was family to them.

Glancing back the words are on his lips but he cannot speak them, paritally because of the lump in his throat but also because they do not express his feelings good enough. Finally finding his voice he can only ask one question, though to whom he is asking it...even he is not sure. "What can I do?" His voice is quiet when he spoke, pitched just loud enoug for those closest to hear.

Tishe' (AC 21 HP 62/71)(Mage Armor, Endure Elements, Longstrider, Resist Electricity, Barkskin, See Invisible, Fly, Prayer)
Thursday May 28th, 2009 10:47:34 PM

Tishe' sees Grymash will stay to help and needs no further incentive. Rising back into the sky, she flies ahead, and helps where she may, using her cure spells and healing skills. It matters not if it is a citizen or monk right now, only that there are others who need assistance.

She even uses her Druidic ability to spontaneously cast SummonIV to bring in some Unicorns and casts her arcane SummonIV to bring in a Lantern Archon for its Aid spells.

Taking Stock (DM JohnP)
Thursday May 28th, 2009 11:24:40 PM

People continue to straggle from the ruins of Rattledam, singly and in small groups helping one another through the debris. No one speaks too loudly, murmuring to one another quietly as they find places to sit, rest and recover. No one except for the badly injured who often cry out in pain despite their best efforts. And the children, some howling and sobbing in fright and others in loneliness as they cry for parents who aren't there.

All this swirls around Trellus as he kneels with his family, clasping his father's cold and still hand. Gilan is standing close by, as well. Looking around, there is no shortage of people needing healing and other assistance.

When Grymash turns and begins walking towards Rattledam, he feel the Child grow increasingly heavy. After only a couple steps the half-orc is struggling to hold and carry the Child away from the Manfri somewhere out in the Sargrass. He is able to move, though, and the Child never becomes more than a very great burden. Tishe' moves along with the Cleric of Gargul and summons some creatures that can help the people of Rattledam.

The young woman who sought out the Bloodpack has not stayed with Trellus, providing the cleric with some privacy with his family. Gilan and the others see her move through the refugees towards a group of men and women. It's impossible to recognize anyone at this distance but the cut of their clothing suggests that the woman has gone to some members of the Council. As they watch, the young woman gestures in their direction.

Hearing Gilan's question, an old woman immediately replies.

"We need shelter. We need food. We need healing. We need a place to stay. And most of them, they need something to believe in."

"Can you provide it? Or, are you simply flapping in the wind?"

Yanosh AC22- HP41/81 Hide from Undead, Bulls str, Prayer,  d4+1=2 ; d20+4=18 ;
Friday May 29th, 2009 1:02:30 AM

Yanosh walks through the throng of people casting healing spells where needed and handing out healing potions as needed untill his supply is down to just one Cure Moderate wounds potion (Currently has 3 cure light wounds and 1 cure moderate wounds potions). Once his healing has been exhausted Yanosh heals what he can with his skills.

The Cleric summons 2 Celestial Dogs and tells them "Hunt we need as much food as you can carry."

The burned Cleric speaks softly and kindly to the children who are lost and offers to help them and care for them. Once again the heart of the Dwarf can not stand to see the young and helpless suffer.

In an uncharacteristic move Yanosh speaks aloud to the gathered crowd, "Friends from Rattledam! We can lead you to safety and a new life. But you must trust and believe in the Bloodpack once more. Gone is the way of the Council. We offer you a place to live and a place to call home and raise your children. The way will not be easy. But staying here at what is left of your home will not be easy either. Both leave you with uncertain futures. To follow us is to leave the Council and Rattledam behind. Rattledam is dead. The Sargrass offered us a new home and now we offer that Home to you. Gather your supplies, water, weapons, shelters and carts or buggies. What ever you can carry, push or pull. I do not promise you an easy way but at the end I promise you a new Home. Talki Fresal, dondit liki, 'The Land, my Life'. You are a part of the land and we will help you in any way we can. We leave with the morning sun." quietly and under his breath Yanosh prays, "Gargul watch over us. For I know not what I have just done."

(OoC on the morning of the next day I will list the new spells Yanosh has.)

Tishe' (AC 21 HP 62/71)(Mage Armor, Endure Elements, Longstrider, Resist Electricity, Barkskin, See Invisible, Fly, Prayer)
Friday May 29th, 2009 1:07:38 PM

More quietly, Tishe' will reinforce Yanosh's pronouncement. While caring for the people, patching wounds, and providing some comfort, she will talk of OddHolme, an empty dome that is only yearning for people to make it grow once more. "There will have to weave a new way to rule and work together, for I think we are full of dominating Councils", she says, "but I'm sure that we can live together weaving peace."

Inside, she begins to worry about HOW they will govern. The original idea was to have a few at a time take up residence which would enable the Bloodpack to ensure thier values would be dominant. With an entire migration, OddHolme may soon become as strange to the Bloodpack as Rattledam used to be...

Gilan[HP: 104/108 - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider, barkskin, greater magic fang, mass bull's strength, prayer]  d20+23=29 ;

Gilan keeps his mouth shut as the last of the questions are asked and he does not want to volunteer anything at this time, than what he is able. Moving to the ten smallest children that are in need of food he smiles as he goes to one knee before them. "Each of you eat one of these and you will have no need of food for the rest of the day." He passes out one goodberry to each of the ten children that he has picked and sighs...it was not enough. "I will go and see what else I can gather that is edible." He slowly gets back up from his kneeling position, taking the time to rough the hair of one of the boys that he gave a berry to.

With that thought in mind he moved to the more wild parts of the Sargrass to see what he could dig up, maybe literally. When he has found enough to feed at least a good number of people, he will return and then go back out again.

Flea AC 21, 67 HP
Friday May 29th, 2009 11:12:17 PM

Having worked hard to compel her friends to abandon Rattledam in favour of escorting the 'child' to the Manfri, Flea is rung out. She has little to offer these people. As Trellus grieves the loss of his father, Flea stands a quiet witness.

Snuffling a little, she wipes a grubby hand under her nose, and blinks back tears that threaten to mark her cheeks.

It is all getting to be too much for the small gnome.

"Domi, please help him," she prays, " 'an us too."

Sunday May 31st, 2009 9:03:37 PM

Olaf maintains a reserved expression watching the survivors. "ain't lucky' he mutters to himself.

He keeps close to Gry, eyes alert for an unexpected threat. Glancing to the distance, his eyes narrow at the council that has failed so many.

Gathering (DM JohnP)
Sunday May 31st, 2009 11:12:44 PM

Yanosh pronounces the intent of the Bloodpack to settle as many of the survivors of Rattledam in a new place, far from here. Tishe' speaks to this choice, as well. Around them, the survivors begin discussing the possibility of moving, of leaving all that they know behind and striking out into the unknown following a group of adventurers. The Bloodpack's reputation is just enough to persuade some to consider it. The debate continues, some arguing for leaving Rattledam while others want to remain with the familiar. Some, too, seem to be simply too stunned or disturbed by the earthquake to do more than simply remain living. Some, though cluster around Yanosh and Tishe' and begin asking questions.

"How far do we have to go?"

"Will the journey be safe?"

"Is there room for all of us?"

"Can you keep us safe on the way?"

"How will we live? What will we do?"

"Will we be safe?"

"How will we get there?"

Meanwhile, Gilan and others are trying to help with feeding the survivors. People cluster about to share what the shifter is able to collect from the Sargrass. Together with the others are doing, the Bloodpack soon attracts a sizable group of people clustered around them.

They are preparing for evening when they see that the group of Council members is heading towards them and the survivors that have sought their protection.

Flea AC 21, 67 HP  d20+7=22 ; d20-1=12 ;
Monday June 1st, 2009 1:15:06 AM

Flea blinks in confusion, and scratches her head, unsure what to think as she ponders this new delima.

The Bloodpack has been charged with delivering the 'child' to the Manfri, but now there were all these dispossessed Rattledam folk--and half of them seem to think the 'pack might actually lead them to somewhere safe.

Don't they know trouble just seems to find us? she thinks. But then, there's safety in numbers, right?

Figuring Trellus and Gillan would be glad not to have to divide their loyalty between the quest and helping the people, and seeing Yanosh and Grymash turn towards the refugees, Flea decides to see how she might help.

******

Come evening, the rogue makes a tour of the make-shift camp, in an attempt to enlist volunteers to take the watches. Seeing the council types approach, she moves to intercept them, with those of the 'pack who also spot them, before they enter the camp.

"Halt!" she shouts, adding, "Furtif of the Bloodpack servant of Domi, and chosen soldier of the god of Life and Death asks you your business!" (Diplomacy=22) It is hard, but the gnome manages to mask her disdain for the surviving council members as she tries to figure what's up with them. (Sense Motive=12)

Trellus HP 75/93
Monday June 1st, 2009 8:56:15 AM

Trellus finally raises his head. Numbed, he looks around at the devastation. There are voices, many voices, and its only after several minutes have passed before his brain translates the sounds of more familiar ones into actual sentences.

At that comprehension, his face drops even more. The blond man wills himself to his feet, and stumbles over to Yanosh, running a hand across his mother's shoulders as he passes her. Reaching the dwarf, he bends down so that his mouth is next to his ear and whispers fiercely.
"You've just started a battle with the Council, and promised to escort an entire city to Oddholme. What's gonna happen to Gry and the Child during the month it takes us to get them there and set them up?"

Trellus doesn't wait for an answer. He rises up and strides to meet the Council members, stepping in front of Flea in the process. Anger mixes with despair on his features, and its pretty obvious the young man is in a lousy emotional state.

The blond man stands and waits for the Council members to arrive.

Yanosh AC22- HP68/81  3d8+7=27 ;
Monday June 1st, 2009 10:34:31 AM

Stunned at what Trellus has said Yanosh walks with him to stand before the attiving council members. War with the council? If that is what they want then so be it. And a month to get the survivors to the new dome. The Dwarf had thought of taking the child to the Manfri while enroute. Although not taking the group close enough to them just while going home to pass with in distance of the Manfri. Yanosh explains what he though of to Trellus the first chance he gets.

That night once things have settled down Yanosh offers his services as a Cleric of Gargul for the needs of Trellus's family and the final resting place for his father.

That night Yanosh casts Cure serious wounds over dispell magic on himself.

Grymash (ac24 hp59/125, bulls strength)
Monday June 1st, 2009 4:58:48 PM

Grymash halts his progression toward the ruins of Rattledam. He begins to step backwards to see if his burden becomes somewhat lessened. All he knows is that his answer must be that the direction back to his friends is the wrong path. Any more steps in their direction and the weight would surely crush him.

As soon as the weight of the child become more bearable, Grymash begins to speak through his crystal and point toward his friends. "I'm sorry my friends, I can not help and I believe I can not stay much longer. The weight of the child becomes increasingly heavy the longer I neglect to deliver it to the Manfri. I'm afraid I must go."

Who else can help him he wonders. Who ...? Then a name materializes in his mind. Touching his crystal again, he sends his message into the skies with all his might and will power he can muster. "Grand Maw, my beloved, Grymash needs you. My burden is great, and I need your strength and swiftness."

Olaf AC 30, HP 55/66 (20% miss chance, 10/adamantium 70/80; prot from evil 3m; nondetection, 5h; stoneskin 78m; barkskin 88m, Bull Strength 8m)
Monday June 1st, 2009 8:02:40 PM

Olaf smiles wanly at the occasionally eloquent Gry, noting, "Well Gry, I got yer back when ya need me. Though I doubt I'd bring help like yer grand...maw would. No real spells er anythin' but a decent set o' eyes to offer."

While they wait for the rest of the pack to rally to Gry's aid, Olaf prepares his pack for an overland journey, taking out thicker leather pants from his haversack to provide a measure of protection from the cutting grasses, and a curious assortment of scarves, which he ties about his head to protect against the sun.

Tishe' (AC 21 HP 62/71)(Mage Armor, Endure Elements, Longstrider, Resist Electricity, Barkskin, See Invisible, Fly, Prayer)
Monday June 1st, 2009 9:43:24 PM

Tishe' also waits with the group for the arrival of the Council. As they wait, she makes her suggestion...

"We could tell them we need to prepare by a retreat into the Sargrass. Give the people food and water here, and then use Trellus' Air Walking to fly to the Manfri. We could complete our first mission in a couple days, and then return to lead the willing to OddHolme." She thinks for a minute and then continues, "and we could help rebuild Rattledam, too. Would give us a good reputation in assisting those in need."

The Council Speaks (DM JohnP)
Monday June 1st, 2009 11:03:22 PM

Despite their wishes to have a quiet evening, that is not what the future holds for the Bloodpack. While Flea and the others tend to material needs, Trellus and the others realize that a more important struggle is looming. As the Council approaches, the Bloodpack trade suggestions and strategies for dealing with both the task requested by Gargul and the survivors of Rattledam. Tishe' is just preparing to share her ideas when Grymash announces his intent to go onwards through the magic provided by the Dragon's Tears.

The group approaching them is a mix of Council members - young, old, and many different races. The Bloodpack doesn't see Galafar among them - probably someone has decide that would simply be too provocative. The group look nervously towards a elven woman who either is quite young to be in a position of power or carries her years well. The woman clears her throat and begins speaking, both to the Bloodpack and to the people gathered around them.

"Hail and well met, Bloodpack!"

"Are all of you here? No, I think not .... the priest of Gargul and one other are missin. Did your companions perish escaping from the Defenders or have they deserted you and the people of Rattledam? Or do they bear something away?"

"All of you, loyal citizens of Rattledam - you know the Bloodpack. Or, you think that you do. Loyal pack, defenders of the helpless, friend to one and all, that is how people describe the Bloodpack is it not?. And, truthfully, the Bloodpack has chafed under the prudent and careful direction of the Council. Don't people also speak of that? They should, for that is the design of the Council."

"A pliant stem of grass twined around a stake has no strength for itself, and cannot stand without the support of the stake. When wind stalks the Sargrass, the pliant grass bends before the wind and provides no shelter or support. But when a gardener trains and plants the seeds for the great stalks that support and shelter the domes, they choose a grass that will thrust and drive against the stake. The grass grows stronger, strong enough once trained to support both themselves and the stake. That is how the Council directs the packs, finding those inclined to push against the tools of the Council and pushing them to train them. Eventually, these become the strength that supports all of Rattledam."

"Except for the Bloodpack. They went beyond our ken and beyond our direction. When they returned, their love for Rattledam had become twisted. No longer the stalk that supports, they had become the twisted stalk that threatens to tear all apart."

"Which you did, didn't you? All of you in the Bloodpack, you tore Rattledam down to the ground."

"Admit it - were you not involved in triggering the Great Migration that has caused so much destruction in Rattledam and on the plains? And that was not sufficient, was it? You tore the Heart from Rattledam, ripping the foundations from beneath our feet. And even now they plot to take it away, to set up some new town in place of Rattledam. Isn't that so?"

"You people, you think that the Bloodpack can protect you, shelter you, take you in? Have they told you what this new place would be like? Anything? Have they told you what will come after they complete what they are set to do?"

"The Council will stay here, here in Rattledam where we and our families have lived for so long. We will try to re-build, to bring some stability back into your lives so that we can continue into the future. You can stay where you were born, where your children were born, where ... unfortunately ... your friends and family died and were buried in the collapse of Rattledam."

"The Bloodpack would have you go into the Sargrass where many of you have never gone. They would take you to some unknown place, with nothing certain about your life or the future."

"They do, though, have an opportunity to set right what they have done. They can return the Heart to the Council. The Council can, with the Heart, set right much that as occurred. And the Council can provide a stable, safe place for you to live and raise your families."

"The choice is yours. And the Bloodpack's, too. The Council starts rebuilding in the morning. You can either join us, or leave with the Bloodpack."

The delegation from the Council turns and deaprts, heading back towards the other cluster of survivors. A buzz of conversation begins among the people clustered around the Bloodpack. Some people even pick up what they managed to carry during their escape and follow behind the Council.

Trellus HP 75/93
Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 9:33:47 AM

Trellus is not really in a mood to bandy about words. He sadly shakes his head at the end of the Council woman's speech. But, he's more than happy to watch them turn away, and says nothing to several minutes afterward. Some of the townsfolk turn to leave as well, and still the cleric waits.

Finally, he looks up to the sky, draws a deep, cleansing breath, and looks around at the crowd with sad eyes.

"You are just as likely to be safe here as you are with us," he tells them. He waits for a beat before continuing, "You are are more likely to be free with us. They are weavers with but one pattern. When the cloth becomes worn and faded, they weave it again. Over and over, unchanging."

Trellus shrugs at their stubbornness.

"The Bloodpack chooses to weave a new pattern, colors new and vibrant. Some will shrink from it, and that is their choice. If it is your choice, then stay. If not, we know of another home, with water and land. It is several days by ship, if any survived the crash. Otherwise, we must hike through the Grass for seven to ten days."
The blond man lets that sink in.

He looks over at his father's body, and takes another breath.

"The Council can do nothing with the Heart. Gargul himself forbids it. The Land has changed, in spite of all they do to prevent it."

The blond man gazes at those who still remain.
"We will return to this spot before noon tomorrow," he tells them. "Those who wish to leave, prepare ships and stores, and we will lead you to a new home."

With a tilt of his head, the cleric indicates to the others its time to leave. He lingers a moment though, anticipating more questions.

Gilan[HP: 104/108 - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider, barkskin, greater magic fang, mass bull's strength, prayer]
Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 9:41:22 PM

Gilan does not meet with the council as there are some hurts that still run very deep, hurts that might have turned his attentions to other thoughts. He buries himself in the needs of the people before him, giving what aid he can to them.

When some turn to follow the Council back to the ruins of Rattledam he just shakes his head and then shrugs. What Trellus tells those that still remain, is the awful truth. Worse yet is the fact that the home that they will be taken to is half finished and will require a lot of work. As he moves to stand near Trellus he nods his head in understanding. "You should also warn them that the work there will be as hard here. Things are not as ready for large groups of people, though this home will take as much work to get back into shape." With that said he turns to leave for he has nothing else to say and he needs to get ready for the trip to the Manfri.

The people surrounding the Bloodpack continue to discuss what they have heard, both from the Council's representative and from Trellus. Some pick up their belongings and move away, but over half of those who first crowded around are still there. They are all, even Trellus' family, subdued. This might be both a consequence of the events of the day and thinking about what they have heard.

Evening is coming and, with it, the night flying insects and other creatures of the Sargrass. Most of the survivors have never been outside Rattledam at night except, perhaps, as a childish dare. The Bloodpack, though, are experienced and they can rapidly settle everyone. There are enough people skilled with basic weaving that crude sleeping mats can be made for everyone.

The night is not particularly restful, with the sounds of frightened children echoing across the grass and others suddenly shouting in their sleep. Obviously, everyone's dreams are haunted by the events of the day. Then, to make matters worse, a tremor ripples through the Sargrass shortly before dawn. All the adults and many of the children leap awake, wondering what this quake will bring.

Grymash and anyone with him ONLY - Highlight to display spoiler: {Grymash finds that the Child decreases in weight as he turns and walks away from the ruins of Rattledam. A little experimentation finds that the Child "wants" to go in a particular direction that seems to be roughly in the same direction as Oddholme.

As night approaches, the Child glows dimly in the failing light. Not enough to attract anything, but the glow from the Child is enough to cast Grymash's features in stark relief. Then, suddenly, the Child flashes briefly to illuminate the immediate area. As this occurs, Grymash and anyone within 30 feet of the Child feels positive energy flowing over them them to relieve some of their injuries.

Grymash and anyone else is healed for 27 hps.

Flea
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 12:38:03 AM

Flea is very agitated after the council members leave. The gnome finds it hard to sleep and stays up late into the night keeping company with the watch.

From time to time, her roaming through the camp takes her over to the area where the Bloodpack have set themselves up, and where the half-orc tends the egg-thing. Intrigued by the dim glowing, she turns to Gry, and asks "you think this thing will be like the thing we protected in the bone yard? 'member? The thing that hatched out the 'moth'?"

Something happens, and Flea backs away startle. "What was that!" she cries, momentarily loosing her self control, her pale eyes open wide in surprise and awe.

Yanosh AC22- HP81/81
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 3:30:07 AM

After the Council has their say Yanosh turns and goes to Gry. "Rest tonight Brother. Tomorrow we will deliver the Child."

During the Night Yanosh rends to as many children and old as he can. Helping any that ask of him. If any wish to stay close to the Dwarf he lets them but he forces none to take his aid. He is a stranger to them and he knows what he looks like. Again he feels like a Monster among the Civilized. But help others he will. When sleep trys to over take him he lays close to Gry and the Child. Unrolling his mat that Tishe' made him when he first entered the Sargrass Yanosh lays down and sleeps.

Trellus HP 75/93
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 10:56:29 AM

Trellus spends a long night with his mother and brother, alternately consoling them and being consoled by them. It is not until very early in the morning that fatigue overtakes him and he collapses for a few hours sleep.

A sleep violently interrupted by the shaking ground. He gets up and looks around to see if any further damage occurred.

Nothing else seems amiss, and so the cleric walks off to a quieter place to receive his spells from Domi. Then he returns to Gilan.

"Gil, I'm gonna grab up Gry, Yanosh, and Tishe and do my Wind Walk pick to get the Child to the manfri. Hopefully, we can just deliver it and come back, and we'll be here in a couple hours.
See if you can scrounge up a couple boats to help transport while we're gone. I'll shoot a Message to you if we get delayed."

Trellus then casts Status on Gilan and Flea.

[OOC - Not sure where everyone is at this point. Plan is to Wind Walk to manfri. Trellus memorized the spell twice, so he should be able to cast it on whoever's here, Wind Walk to Gry and company (using Message spell and Tear to help locate if necessary), cast the spell again with everyone, and whisk over to the manfri (60 miles per hour movement)]

Tishe' (AC 12 HP 71/71)(Mage Armor, Endure Elements, Longstrider, Resist Electricity, Barkskin, See Invisible, Fly, Prayer)
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 7:24:34 PM

Tishe' feels the healing glow of the Child and snuggles closer to Grymash in her sleep. "You are just as cuddly as Macasthai", she says sleepily and goes back to slumber.

Gilan[HP: / - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider]
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 9:25:48 PM

Gilan spends his early moments sleeping and getting the rest that he will need for the following day. He is woken early in the morning by the slight tremor that rocks the area. He is already awake as he had been getting ready for his morning prayers to Mother and Father.

Glancing up to Trellus as he comes near, he listens and nods his head. "I will do my best to have them ready and get at least a couple of boats ready...if I can find them." Tilting his head to the side, he tries to go over his spells and see what he might want to seek out this morning. He had made it a point to stay near Grymash during the night and morning as he was making his strength available for his friend.

As soon as the sun is up and he has sung his morning prayers to his patrons, he goes to try and find out about boats. His first thought is to see if anyone that is willing to go with them has access to boats, before he starts to go further away to those not wanting to go.

Olaf AC 30, HP 66/66 (20% miss chance)
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 10:58:45 PM

After a restless night, with mental images of Celsiun's wrath plaguing him, Olaf jumps at the shaking earth. He quickly digs a small hole once the quake subsides, and puts a small, plain dagger within, turning it twice, then returns it to his pack, while nervously looking to the sky.

Once morning comes in full, Olaf nods to Trellus's wisdom, noting, "Glad ta have you back, Trellus." He looks to Gilan, seeking to help as he can now that Gry is en route to deliver the child.

Morning (DM JohnP)
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 11:09:19 PM

After the unwelcome surprise that woke everyone, the Bloodpack prepare to meet the day. Of course, not everyone had a restful night. Flea stayed up, helping keep watch with some of the survivors. Yanosh was awake, too, tending to the injured.

Trellus and Gilan complete their morning devotions and plan the day. The human cleric is planning to carry the Child to the Manfri with Grymash, Yanosh and Tishe' and leave the others to begin moving the survivors to Oddholme.

Gilan realizes that he would need to search the area of the ruins where the ships were docked. It's very likely that any ships that were out on the grass have survived, but any that were docked are probably trapped under debris if they have even survived without being broken. Flea seems like the obvious choice to help search and, combined with the strength that Gilan can lend, retrieve those ships that are still functional. Of course, someone should stay with the survivors.

Meanwhile, right after Trellus has completed his prayers, Trellus' brother Danner approaches him. Danner has a troubled look on his face and clears his throat twice before speaking.

"Brother, are you getting ready to leave? Can you not perform the service for our father? Even out here, away from our customary place? Surely you can do that for our mother, can't you?"

Flea AC 21, 67 HP
Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 11:35:32 PM

Should I stay of should I go?

Maybe is was the lack of sleep? The gnome feels as if she is pulled in a million directions. She is anxious to deliver the intermittantly glowing egg-child to the Manfri, but then there is the pressing need of the Rattledam exiles. Then Trellus' brother wants the Bloodpack leader to bless the trip of his dead father's soul to the shadow lands.

Light!

What are they to do?

Flea speaks to her pack, "no disrespect meant, but maybe Olaf, me, Gilan, an' a few of the villagers who know something 'bout the boats can go fetch enough to transport folks to Oddholme, while Trellus, Gry, an' Yanosh do a service for those making their way to Gargul...seeing as there are so many...and things are so tangled...they might need some directions...to help them see the pattern." Flea pauses before continuing, "if we all head out in the boats together, we might not stand out like a slub in the cloth. We can set the folks on a course for Oddholme, and when we get closer to the manfri place, we can weave our own pattern."

The plains are a confusing place on the best of days, but Flea tries to remember if they were told where they were supposed to meet the manfri, or where the best place is that they might meet them. So often, it seemed, Manfri folk just popped up out of nowhere.

Yanosh
Thursday June 4th, 2009 7:48:38 AM

Waking with the early morning quake Yanosh cleans up his place in camp then conducts his morning dedications to Gargul. Prays for his spells the Dwarven Cleric readies for the day.

Hearing Fleas statement Yanosh agrees that they have a duty to see those that have crossed over on their way to Gargul. "It is the least we can do for them. It will also solidify our place as trusted leaders of the new Community."

Trellus gazes at Danner, stricken.
"Yes, of course," he answers guiltily. "I will perform the ceremony. After, I must complete my errand, but it won't take long. I'll be back before the day is out."

The cleric rises. "But, even that can wait a while longer. Let's go."

Trellus joins his brother in clearing a spot, and begins digging. As is the Rattledam custom, his father will be returned to the Land which has provided for him all these years.

Tishe' (AC 12 HP 71/71) (Mage Armor, Endure Elements)
Thursday June 4th, 2009 6:19:59 PM

Tishe' wakes in the morning and performs her devotions with spellbook and Mother Wold before breaking her fast with some breadgrass and prariepig sausage.

The Mystic keeps her focus (for a wonder) and stays with Grymash, keeping her eyes open for any dangers against the Child.

To keep her protected, she casts Mage Armor and Endure Elements on herself.

Grymash (ac24 hp97/125)
Thursday June 4th, 2009 7:14:51 PM

Grymash's expression is of awe with the Child's ability to be a font of positive energy. Truly this must be something of great good. "What luck ... the Child wants to go in the direction of Oddholme. What a blessing it is!!

Grymash awaits to see when everyone else is ready and will start off in that direction.

Olaf AC 30, HP 66/66 (20% miss chance)
Thursday June 4th, 2009 7:45:45 PM

Olaf completes his morning devotions, thankful to have what spell's Celsiun would provide. The power is, however, distant this far from Oddholme, and with a gloomy countenance, he begins his day.

With Flea's well reasoned words, Olaf indicates his assent. "I'm with you, Flea. Don't know much about ships, but I'm handy with tools and gettin' people ta go where they got to git to."

Gilan[HP: / - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider]
Thursday June 4th, 2009 7:45:48 PM

Gilan finds with the help of Flea and maybe some of the other members of the pack, he is able to locate enough still functionable boats for them. Of course he does not take all the boats but just what they will need, leaving behind for the remaining people of Rattledam. As he watches what was once his home with thoughtful eyes he tries to figure out if those remaining will be ok, but finds that a daunting chore.

He makes himself available to anyone that has need of him, though most of his time will be spent getting things ready and supplying food. That also brings another problem in that they will need food for a few extra days as well.

Moving to stand with the rest he glances to Tishe' and then motions her over. "I had a thought that maybe with the use of air elementals we might be able to speed our travels along. Thoughts?" If between the two of them, they think the idea is sound than it might just help them out even more.

Funeral and Ultimatum (DM JohnP)
Thursday June 4th, 2009 11:19:39 PM

Trellus goes with his brother to inter their father's remains. Danner works silently beside Trellus as they tear grasses out by the roots and scrape away at the soil. Nearby, their mother prepares the body of their father, arranging his clothes and preparing to wrap the winding cloth. Another woman, maybe a daughter of a neighbour, helps their mother. Yanosh stands nearby, ready to intone the prayers of Gargul if requested by anyone.

Flea and Gilan goe to find some boats to help move the people to Oddholme. It's difficult walking since the grass is covered in small and large pieces of the dome that once housed and supported Rattledam. The other survivors look up at them, perhaps in curiosity or maybe even some fear. As they pass close to the other groups, both Gilan and Flea can overhear some scraps of conversation.

"... a miracle ..."

"... Maisy said it healed all of them ...."

"... Really? You sure? But, they won't say anything ..."

" ... the council says stay and rebuild. That seems safe ...."

"... Shhhh! That's some of them ..."

Eventually, though, they pick their way into where the boats were once docked. It seems that they aren't the only ones with this idea but a glance at the other scavengers here indicates that these people are simply looking for food and tools, not transport. It doesn't take long to find three small boats, one or two person affairs, that are still servicabe. There's a large boat, a grass-barge really, large enough to take twenty or more people comfortably but it is partly covered by debris. Nothing so large that one of Gilan's larger forms cannot move it. However, there are other people nearby and no one knows how they will respond to the sudden appearance of a large monster.

Patience is rewarded, and the others move off to look elsewhere. Gilan is able to assume a larger, stronger shape and move the debris. As soon as he does, the grass-barge bobs into the air and hangs there, ready to haul a load across the Sargrass.

Meanwhile, Tishe', Olaf and Grymash are waiting for things to happen. Olaf is nearbyThey don't have to wait long since people have been slowly coming to where the Bloodpack have decided to camp since the morning earthquake. A small boy was the first to sit down on a scarp of sleeping mat about 10 feet from Grymash and the Child. Then another child comes close, sitting down to silently watch the Child. When Gilan and Flea return with the grass boats, there are three children sitting nearby and a larger group of adolescents, adults and even the elderly standing behind them. One of the older children standing and watching the Child catches the eye of Tishe' since there is something achingly familiar about her. Finally, the child who first arrived stands up and cautiously approaches the large half-orc who is cradling the Child.

"Sir? Sir? Can I touch it, sir?"

Grymash (ac24 hp97/125)

Friday June 5th, 2009 3:21:57 PM

Tishe' sees Grymash will wait for the funeral details and so the mystic is free to look around the growing circle of people. She spots the child eyeing her, and Tishe' then walks over to sit nearby.

While there she spins two stories telling of the rescue of the Child from the evil Ga'al and the good power of Gargul's mandate for where this egg should finally go. She tries to use the story to explain why things have happened and that the Bloodpack was caught up in the events just as much as every other person was.

The second story is more about her life, how Mara Weaver left Rattledam with a wandering bard and settled down in Hook City and eventually having three beautiful daughters and one Tishe', the youngest. And that while she doesn't have the skills born to her sisters, she has others that enable her and the Bloodpack to protect those who only want to have a good life.

Trellus HP 75/93
Friday June 5th, 2009 9:36:50 PM

Trellus works silently, digging a deep hole. Danner works with him, bringing up the soil and piling it next to the hole. Both have seen this done many times, for the Grass is a dangerous place. Yet, neither has ever been the actual digger. Despite the increasing depth of the hole, and the increasing heaviness of his limbs, Trellus finds he does not wish to stop. Stopping means the end. If he doesn 't stop digging, his father won't end.

Eventually, his mother speaks - A sad, soft, and yet firm voice.
"Boys. That's enough."
Trellus shoulders droop. He stops digging, sighs deeply, and climbs out of the hole. Once clear he moves to pick up his vestment, previously discarded during the heat of his labor, and drapes it over himself. Then, he pulls out a minature silver hammer, lit up like a torch, and holds it out over the wrapped body.

"Heron, potter of Rattledam, husband of Melony, father of Trumaine, Trinian, Trovis..."
He pauses, memories of his three dead brothers flooding into the forefront of his consciousness. With a breath, he will himself on.... "Trellus, Danner, and Jenny....has stepped forever out of the burning sun."

Setting down the holy symbol, Trellus assists Danner in lowering the body into the hole. He climbs out. His mother approaches solemnly. She picks up a handful of dirt, and tosses it into the hole. "May Pantheon guide you to the Lands of Rest," she intones. She removes her ring, and tosses it in as well.

Danner steps up, also throwing in a handful of dirt. "May Alemi guide you to the Lands of Rest," he states. He turns, and takes up an intricately decorated urn, and throws it into the hole.

Trellus also throws in a handful of dirt. "May Domi protect your spirit, and strengthen your journey, and guide you to the Lands of Rest. He holds his closed hand out over the pit, and then opens it. The silver hammer he has carried for years slips from hi fingers and drops into the hole, the torchlike flame emenating from it brightens the gloom.

The three then step back away from the hole. Far enough to allow any others who wish to approach.

Gilan[HP: / - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider]
Friday June 5th, 2009 10:15:33 PM

Gilan had returned in time for the funeral service for Trellus's father. As he stands nearby, his eyes are cast to the heavens and his voice is intoning a prayer of his own to both Mother and Father. His own tone is even, though he keeps his voice low so that only those closest to him will hear.

As his friend and packmate steps forward, he waits respectfully for his own turn and moves forward with sure steps. Nearing the grave he is already holding a handful of dirt that he gently tosses into the grave. "May Mother and Father watch over you as you travel to the Lands of Rest." Reaching up he pulls off the light silver necklace that hangs around his neck with the pair of silver wasps on it. It catches the light as he holds it out and then drops it into the grave. "Watch over him my beauties." As he slowly turns to walk away, his voice is so low that it would be hard to tell what he says...but his lips definitely move. "Like a father." He lays a hand on the shoulder of both Trellus and Danner as he passes, squeezing lightly on each. Tears remain unshed in his eyes as he glances to the woman that has been like a mother to him and he nods his head...unable to trust his voice.

First thing is to go back among the druidwood boats and see if he can find a piece of wood that will make a nice staff, with a little work. He moves off at last and finds a quiet place to contemplate what is to come, most likley seated upon the edge of the large barge that they were able to rescue. Part of him wants to change once again but what he has in mind will be best done tonight with the moon high in the sky.

With a final sigh he will pull out his carving tools and start to work on the piece of wood that he is most likely able to find. His first acts will be to just round and smooth as he lets the wood tell him things about itself and the overall shape that it will finally take in his hands.

Ultimatum (DM JohnP)
Friday June 5th, 2009 11:48:23 PM

The Bloodpack wait while Trellus completes the burial of his father. Trellus digs for a long time, giving the others much time to think and contemplate what will occur. Tishe' uses the time to approach and introduce herself to the girl. The girl seems interested in the stories, particularly the one about Tishe' background. The girl holds a hand to her mouth, looking at Tishe' as if she were evaluating the theurge.

"My gran was a Weaver. You don't suppose, do you ...?"

Grymash has found himself in the centre of a circle of children and others. The people whisper quietly to one another, particularly after the boy asks to touch the Child. Once Grymash gives his assent, the boy stares at the Child for what could be a minute or more before stretching out his hand. One finger gingerly touches the surface of the egg and the boy holds it there for some time. Slowly, a grin spreads across the boy's face and he bgins to laugh as he removes his finger from the surface of the Child.

"Ha! Ha! Ha! It's funny!"

"Sorry ... but it made me laugh!"

After speaking the boy returns to the scrap of matting that he had been kneeling upon. This curious must remain unexplored, though, since the funeral of Heron is finally concluded. After a chance for anyone else to speak or participate, Trellus and his brother finish the service. Once everything is completed, it is time to pack and prepare to move those who wish to go to Oddholme. The boats found by Gilan and Flea can accomodate about two-thirds of the people - all of the young children, injured, sick and elderly plus some caregivers - but many adults and older children will need to walk.

While preparations are being completed, the woman from the Council and a group of robed and hooded people are picking their way across the grass. When they get close, the woman hails the Bloodpack.

"Have you re-considered?"

"Will you return the Heart to us so that the Council can restore Rattledam? This is your last opportunity to aid the Council of Rattledam."

"Will you do so?"

Yanosh endure elements
Saturday June 6th, 2009 3:19:15 PM

After saying his grace and spreading some of the dirt over the father of Trellus Yanosh offers a prayer to Gargul for a quick journey to the Lands of Rest. Yanosh then assits in the closing of the grave.

Seeing the Clouncil Members aproach Yanosh hears what they say but does not speak. Simply he slides his Axe from his shoulder and holds it at his side. It is all he has to say to the Council. The Cleric does not want to alarm too many and scare them away but he want it clear to the council that at least he does not trust them at all.

Trellus HP 86/93
Monday June 8th, 2009 8:59:18 AM

Trellus is emotionally spent. The events of the last day have taken so much that the man is unable to muster any sense of anger or indignation.

He gazes at the council woman for several moments, wearily scanning her and the others with an expression of profound sadness.

Finally, he answers, with but a single word.

"No"

Trying not to look menacing, Olaf instead finds an expression of disgust creeping onto his face. He looks away from the council members to the citizens of Rattledam. He says, softly, "Seems ta me like th' council's the one ta be havin' one last chance to aid Rattledam. I dunno the history here...but sure looks like yer city blowin' up be laid pretty direct at yer feet fer a failure. We're t'ones can help the people here, and woulda done more if'n ya hadn't sent an inexperienced pack ta slow us down. But I reckon ya stopped listenin' ta contrary folks a long time ago. Let's go."

Once the staff is as far done as he will get with it today, he goes through the routinue of storing a single spell inside of it. He has never done this before and he pays extra attention to what he is doing, his choice being more limited than once.

As the council member speaks he does not move from his spot seated upon the druidwood boat, but shakes his head. There is no way that Gry was going to turn over the child and he does not trust the council any more than the rest. For too long they have tried to prevent change and unfortunately, change is part of nature.

Banishment (DM JohnP)
Monday June 8th, 2009 11:01:13 PM

Tishe' looks at the girl as the theurge realizes the possibilities. She quickly asks the child about her relatives, hoping agaisnt hope that some of her mother's family still lives. The girl's lip trembles as she replies to the question from Tishe'.

Me gram ... I ... I ... don't think so."

The girl sniffles once or twice before continuing to speak in a shaky voice.

"She was ... you know ... before. But she didn't live near our place ... and we can't ... couldn't find her. Me Ma and Da looked for her ... sent my sister and me to look, too. I thought that she might be with you, here."

"I should be going back to my parents. Did you want to come see them?"

The girl's question falls into the silence when the Council delegation arrives.

+++++++++++++++

The woman from the Council considers the responses from the Bloodpack, from the simple rejection of Trellus' firm response to the rather lengthy words from Olaf. The silent response from Gilan and Yanosh seemed to reinforce the idea that the Bloodpack was in agreement on this issue. She nods, then steps aside as one of the hooded and cowled men steps forward.

The voice that rasps from inside the cowl is hoarse but still, somehow, familiar to the Bloodpack. Hearing the voice stirs old and new memories among them.

"I've wanted to do this for a long time. But it gives me no satisfaction ..."

The man slips the hood and cowl back to reveal himself. Galafar! The long-time nemesis of the Bloodpack stands before them, a grim smile upon his face.

"The Council of Rattledam has considered this case through lengthy deliberation. I have been deputized to deliver their verdict on the matter."

"The group known as the Bloodpack have long had the support and encouragement of the Council. They strayed, though, hewing to different and potentially dangerous ways and beliefs. Still, they were given opportunity to correct their ways."

"They have disobeyed the orders of the Council, repeatedly and deliberately."

"The Bloodpack has opposed the efforts of the Council of Rattledam to preserve a stable, secure way of life for the people of Rattledam."

"They associate with foreigners, strangers not just to Rattledam but the Sargrass itself."

"The Bloodpack was given a last chance to make restoration and repayment for the good of Rattledam. They rejected it, as you have heard."

"I now pronounce the judgement and sentence determined by the Council of Rattledam. By the authority of the Council of Rattledam, the group known as the Bloodpack are, from this moment onward, banished from Rattledam."

"The Bloodpack, both those native to Rattledam and stranger, are not to enter Rattledam upon pain of death. Any protection provided by the Council is withdrawn. Residents of Rattledam are familiar with the judgement of the Council and are expected to conduct themselves accordingly."

"Go now!"

"Depart from here!"

"Do not darken the doors of Rattledam again! You are not to return to Rattledam until the Council sees fit to rescind this order."

"I have delivered the verdict of the Council. And, if I have my way, the verdict will stand for as long as I have any part of the Council deliberations."

Galafar cannot keep the slight sneer from his voice or face when he delivers the final part of his speech. He is still sneering when he lifts the hood and cowl over his head and turns to leave. The other Council representatives move around Galafar as if serving to guard him. The woman takes one final look at the Bloodpack before departing.

Silence reigns for a short period afterward. Then, mirmurs of conversation from the survivors around the Bloodpack gradually build in volume and intensity. Clearly, some or all of these people are now having second thoughts about leaving with the Bloodpack.

Trellus HP 86/93
Tuesday June 9th, 2009 1:22:48 PM

Trellus blinks uncomprehendingly at Galafar for a few minutes.

Slowly, a grin forms across his face. He starts to snicker, tries to stifle it, and fails miserably. Joyous laughter erupts from the blond man. Tears stream from his face as he guffaws. His laughter finally dies down. But the smile remains, and he shakes his head is disbelief.

"Light," he comments gaily, "you dudes are something else."

He turns back to whatever crowd is still there.
"We're gonna be departing from here in thatish direction," he notes playfully as he points toward Oddholme. "Anyone who would like to come is welcome. Anyone who wants to stay is welcome as well."

The blond man turns to his friends.
"OK, dudes. Let's weave."

Olaf can't help but grin at the audacity of Galafar. He spits after the departing council, then turns to follow Trellus's command. "Well then...time to fly."

Grymash (ac24 hp97/125)
Tuesday June 9th, 2009 7:07:13 PM

Grymash can't help but feel a tickle as well when he hears Galafar's words in the distance. He mutters to the Child, "<snicker> The Council is banishing us <snicker>. I guess this means we are no longer welcome <snicker>!" Grymash continues to chuckle for the next couple of minutes. He listens to see if the Child laughs as well.

Tishe' (AC 12 HP 71/71) (Mage Armor, Endure Elements)
Tuesday June 9th, 2009 7:17:38 PM

Tishe' is sorry for the girl, but bubbling with happiness inside; she is soo close to finding the answers that brought her to the Sargrass in the first place! Unknowing of the byplay happening with the Bloodpack and the Council, she hurries the girl to see her parents. A quick conversation will all it take to determine if these people are related to Mara Weaver in some way...

When/if she meets the adults, stories are necessarily kept short because of the Banishment of the Bloodpack. Entreatingly, Tishe' will encourage the family to come with the Bloodpack to a new dome and they can learn more about one another. "It seems my life was never meant to be at Rattledam", she tells the almost-relatives, "but we can weave a new life together at OddHolme."

Whether they accept or not, Tishe' must rapidly return to the Bloodpack and begin moving away from Rattledam and the Council. She is happy that there isn't any hostile confrontation, but worried about something tickling the edge of her memory. Memory...

"Hey!" she exclaims aloud. "They're banishing us without forcing our memories from us!"

Heading into the Sargrass (DM JohnP)
Tuesday June 9th, 2009 11:29:04 PM

After the Bloodpack laugh and jeer at Galafar's retreating back, everyone springs into action to begin moving towards Oddholme and cimpleting the task given to them from Gargul. The announcement that they are preparing to depart triggers a flurry of activity among the survivors who have camped around the Bloodpack. Some people are simply gathering their meagre belongings and preparing bindle packs. Others quickly dash off towards the other clusters of survivors, perhaps to bid farewell to family, friends and lifelong neighbours or to persuade them to come along. Tishe' heads off in this movement of people and is able to get back without attracting the notice of the Council.

The girl tells Tishe' that her birthname was Miramar but she prefers to be called Mar. Mar quickly leads Tishe' to a group of people - a woman and two younger children with an adolescent boy hanging about - and quickly introduces them to Tishe'. Grana, the mother, listens to the offer from Tishe' and shrugs. A hushed conversation between Mar and her mother results in the woman shaking her head slowly and then shrugging. Tishe' overhears enough to gather that the fate of Mar's grandmother was being discussed. Grana stands and directs the younger children and the adolescent to gather their goods. All of them make their way back in time to put the children and the packs on the grass-barge before they all depart.

When Grymash leads off into the grass, the young boy who had earlier touched the Child trots beside him, occasionally jogging to keep up with the long legs of the half-orc barbarian and cleric of Gargul. Everyone is surprised to see the grass bend down, parting before the Child to ease their passage. If this keeps up, the trip to Oddholme should take no more than half the usual time. And, the delivery of the Child to the unknown place where the Manfri will receive it would go quickly, too, if the Child continues to do this.

Just before they enter the grass, the Bloodpack have a chance to pause and look back. If they do, they see the ruins of Rattledam behind them, pieces of loose debris slowly twisting in the breeze. The clusters of people seem small and lonely even from this relatively short distance. No one can escape the sensation that they are passing away from something important in their past and growth. Some of the survivors must feel the same since quiet weeping can be heard from the group clustered on the grass-barge.

Gilan[HP: / - AC: ][endure elements, longstrider]
Wednesday June 10th, 2009 12:43:28 AM

Gilan does not say anything as the announcement is given and the fact that Galafar just exiled them is actually very funny to him. For some reason though, he does not laugh and instead makes ready to assist those onto the barge as soon as they are ready. His first order of business is to try and get the young and old upon the barge first along with as much of their goods as possible. Making things easier for those going through the grass is one of his first priorities and he makes short work of that.

Once they are ready he attempts to find someone that might know more about sailing this thing than he does. At least he knows enough to keep it moving in the right direction and how to stop it when needed. He will hunt out Flea as soon as he can for he has a job for her if she is willing. "Flea, think you might like to play look-out for the barge?" He does not have to mention that it will also give early warning as well for those on the ground as well. Unless of course enough people are staying behind to get everyone onto the barge and ships they have scavenged.

Yanosh endure elements
Wednesday June 10th, 2009 3:28:20 AM

After hearing the banishment Yanosh roars loudy. A sound not hear from him since he has been in the Sargrass. "BANISHED? AAAHAHAHAHA! YOU FOOL! YOU BANISHED US ONCE ALREADY! AAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!" Yanosh can not believe it. "Hey Boss," he states looking at Tellus, "I thought he did that already."

Once the taturn Dwarf regains his composure he readies to leave and stays close to Gry.

Trellus HP 86/93
Wednesday June 10th, 2009 8:44:17 AM

Trellus smiles back at Yanosh. "Yes, but that time we were only MOSTLY banshed," he replies lightheartedly. "Now, we truly and totally banished."

The man's good humor lasts perhaps thirty seconds, until he looks around at the various refugees and reality takes over again. These people don't find the situation very amusing at all.

With Grymash leading the way, and Gil and the others watching the ships, the cleric feels free enough to make the rounds among the people who have essentially put their lives in the Bloodpack's hands. Putting on his best "Priest of Domi" coutenance, Trellus mingles with as many as he can, offering a kind word, a strong arm, or a healing touch to as many as possible.

And he if happens to find his mother or brother in the crowd, so much the better.

Tishe' (AC 12 HP 71/71) (Mage Armor, Endure Elements)  d20+14=30 ; d20+12=31 ; d20+12=32 ; d20+18=35 ; d20+14=34 ;
Wednesday June 10th, 2009 11:49:03 AM

Tishe' becomes subdued once again, with too many things to puzzle out...

There is the luke-warm reception from Grana, possibly due to the death of Grandma, but the woman is now part of the refugee train to Oddholme.

There is the puzzle of the monks not trying to wipe the Bloodpack's minds of Rattledam. "If the memory power and the reason for the defense was the big pool of Woldsblood, then the monks can't wipe memories anymore and neither do they have reason to do so. But if they stil can... I think we should be aware of attacks from the monks in Sargrass from now on."

There is the leaving of Rattledam itself. Lost from its old glory, the destroyed dome and wandering people look small and forlorn. But there is little she is able to do, being linked with the Bloodpack and the Council's own hostility. A last look of the site, and then Rattledam is lost from her life.

......................

On the march, Tishe' uses her skills to walk among the refugees and teach about protection from the dangers of the Sargrass. Her druid skills are useful since she is not hampered by the Sargrass. Weaving hats and shades, watching out for water-roots, pointing out signs of the flora and fauna; the beneficial and the dangerous.

She also teaches the rudiments of sailing the druidwood crafts, helping the refugees keep busy and find some of the skills necessary to live more with nature in the new OddHolme.
