Selemar [ac 18 hp 23/23] d20+4=9 ; Monday June 1st, 2009 7:31:50 AM
Just follows Rollo, not really having any need to hide. He can't understand what the orcs are saying, but hopes it's something good. He'll try to get a look at Kiel to see if he's breathing
Spot 9
Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21] Monday June 1st, 2009 8:16:19 AM
Garret tenses and looks around the room, waiting to see how the encounter will play out.
Hmark Monday June 1st, 2009 9:29:01 AM [OOC - Addison, I can't read the map]
Hmark winces at the noise and stops moving altogether. The archer forces himself to breathe through his mouth in shallow breath and wait.
Rollo[AC:23 HP:32/42]Shield of Faith, Glibness, comprehend language, and Sanctuary d20+32=43 ; Monday June 1st, 2009 10:48:51 PM "It was a vision that brought me to you, I reside in these hills in self imposed exile,as my frail body would only weaken our people, but the gods find purpose for me as they have sent me to you with a warning. Karsz has betrayed you. You must warn them it screamed. I saw the dead, the dead that would be if you continued, and not dead humans, but orcs. It was your homes. It was the vision that led me to this cave. You must save your families! You must hurry!"

Selemar is kind of convinced by Rollo
ADM Addison HeroesLoot3 d20+7=15 ; Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 1:59:56 AM
(ooc: Try the map now Hmark, it should work. It works for me in both internet explorer and Firefox)
(ooc: wow. Bluffing ftw eh? Cool)
Selemar can plainly see that Kiel is not breathing or moving, but Zeph is breathing slowly.
The three orcs before you stare blankly for a moment.
The first one to speak up is the largest one holding the great-axe, he looks at the purple-robed orc and says very slowly, as if thinking every word through causes him pain, "Yanosh, mabee we shold go home and make sure ev'ryone iz ok?"
The robed orc, apparently named Yanosh, looks at Rollo and his pet animals, and says rather absent-mindedly "Betrayed? But surely our tribe was promised a place in the new order once everything has gone according to plan. Our orders are to stay here and kill the pink-skinned. If we leave, surely our homes would be attacked because that would be interpreted as double-crossing him. But if we stay, our homes are doomed anyways. What should we do?" Yanosh says the last sentance to himself quietly.
Then, the scrawney orc known as Krusak sniffs the air in the direction he heard Hmark step slightly louder than he wanted to. Krusak moves toward Hmark's location and begins to look at the ground. He runs his finger on the floor barely two feet away from Hmark's foot. Then, Krusak's eyes open widely, then go sharp.
Krusak begins to say, "Sire, somethin's amiss here. There's a trail that's not-", but then Yanosh interrupts Krusak, Yanosh says, "Shut up. We have to go now, you go wake up Old Timey." Yanosh says, pointing at the old snoring orc.
Then Yanosh adresses the large orc holding the great-axe "Orag, kill the other human, we have to get going." Lastly, Yanosh looks at Rollo and says, "You will be coming with us, Seer. For when we explain why our post was abandonded, you will be there." Yanosh says, snarling.
With that, Orag, the large orc, begins to walk over towards Zeph brandishing his axe while Krusak begins to walk over to the sleeping orc.
Zeph's left eye opens suddenly and he begins to look around wildly. You see a metal pick come out of his mouth and rest between his teeth, he looks up at the lock keeping his wrist locked to the manacles...
So now things happen in rounds.
Rollo[AC:23 HP:32/42]Shield of Faith, Glibness, comprehend language, and Sanctuary d20+32=40 ; Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 10:49:35 AM "STOP! Did you not hear my warning, or do you think your wisom greater than the gods? We are to leave immediately, your mission will doom us all if you continue. This pink-skin's death may be what dooms us. Leave him shackled and let the gods determine his fate."
(bluff: 40 [this spell really makes me want to play a bard])
Hmark Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 2:36:26 PM
Hmark remains as still as possible, while making a mental note to never play poker against Rollo.
Dathish [HP41/43) AC:18 Longstride d20+2=16 ; Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 4:48:21 PM
Move silently:16 If Only I were Mich, I'm not nearly as stealthy as I should be Slowly moveing invisibly Dathish will move towards where Zeph lies in his cage, should things turn ugly he wants to be able to save his companion. As Rollo continues to bluff his way past the guards he silently chuckles to himself. The little cleric has the touch to him, had he not known better he would have beleived the little man compleatly, I hope he never trys to lie to me, thinks the warrior.
Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21] Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 10:08:31 PM
Garret watches carefully to see if the orc with the axe continues.
Prepared action: if the orc attempts to kill Zeph, Garret will attack.
Selemar [ac 18 hp 23/23] Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 10:55:17 PM
selemar growls (something new for him) at the orc with the axe. he'll ready an action. if he moves to attack Zeph, he'll bite the orc (also a new experience)
Dathish [HP41/43) AC:18 Longstride Tuesday June 2nd, 2009 11:34:51 PM
I'll ready an action to grab the shaman should the orc with the axe goes for Zeph, maybe they could use a hostage.
Selemar [ac 18 hp 23/23] Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 3:10:03 AM
the bear whuffles a bit, unsure what to do. he hasn't taken orders from a wolf before
ADM Addison HeroesLoot3 d20+11=31 ; d20+8=19 ; Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 4:10:51 AM
Yanosh, the shaman Orc, looks around confused and seems to think about what he should do, as the large orc with the axe, Orag, waits for orders. Yanosh nods his head in agreement with Rollo and Orag lowers his axe just as Zeph begins to lift his moth-wire to the lock and lifts his legs to kick at Orag in defense.
Apparently, Krusak, the scrawney orc, is getting fed up with it all as he wakes up Old Timey, the sleeping old orc.
Krusak looks over to Yanosh, "Look, somethin's not right. I smell somethin'." he says. Then, with a start and a snort, the old orc, known as Old Timey, wakes up... sorta.
Old Timey sits up, with his eyes still closed and says, half asleep, half-awake, "Why are there... one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight... nine... ten? Footsteps in the room? Not including myself or the captured ones?" (20 on listen check! LOL)
After Old Timey says that, Yanosh's eyes grow big and he quickly casts a spell, DC 15 spellcraft Highlight to display spoiler: { He casts detect magic}
Yanosh's voice is piercing with a scream of rage as he quickly views the auras of faint illusion about the room as well as the magic from the hat that Rollo wears. He can see vaugly where the invisible ones are, but the others cannot. "Tricksters!" he screams violently, "Invisible, lying, pink-skinned, tricksters!!!!" Yanosh screams.
After that, Orag lifts his axe up high, half-way leaning it towards Zeph and halfway trying to use it for defense as the large orc is spooked by what Yanosh said.
Krusak, the scrawney orc, draws his dual short swords in a flash and looks about, sniffing at the air.
Old Timey, stands up, opens his eyes, and blinks lazily. He grabs his staff that was at his side and looks at it, as if wondering whether he should utilize it or not.
None of the orcs, exept Yanosh can tell where you are. You get an amazing surprise round. Use it as you wish. If you ready actions, then its a good idea to roll for them just incase what you readied it for happens... sorta like in this case.
(ooc: Adam Majka, could you please modify the map to have the rogue orc next to the old man, Dathish next to the shaman, Garret close to the berzerker orc, and the berzerker next to Zeph... if I interpreted everyone's words correctly. It would be clearer to just say squares... unless you cannot see the map, if so tell me.... Lastly, I think Kathy will make the next post as I am going to be driving to the airport tomorrow night at this time to fly to Seattle- Good job all.=)
Hmark(AC 18, hp 30/30) d20+15=35 ; Wednesday June 3rd, 2009 3:31:13 PM Jig's up
Without another thought, Hmark turns and fires an arrow at the berzerker, Orag. The missile slams into the shaft of the orc's axe, knocking it from his hands.
Hmark appears out of the nothingness, smirking at the orc. "Lose something?" he asks.

No DM Post Today Saturday June 6th, 2009 12:54:40 AM
Hi all. DM Kathy here. :)
Addison is traveling to Alaska and has no access to the Internet. He asked me to do the DM post in his stead.
Unfortunately, I don't have statistics for any of his orcs. So, rather than muck up the battle, I'm going to refrain from posting.
I apologize for leaving you all hanging, but I hope you can have a good weekend. :)

(ooc: Hey guys. I'm moved into my dorm in the University of Southeast Alaska and i've been to my first class. It was a wild ride. Look me up on Facebook if you wanna see photos of my trip.)
Hmark executes a brilliant shot aimed at Orag's axe. The axe flies out of the berzerker's hands and sticks several inches into the wall, right next to Zeph's head. Zeph promptly brings his mouth with the wire in it up to the lock and begins to work on the mechanism.
Orag then gets bit by Mich as the large orc moves to pull his axe out of the wall (which is his standard action, that's your reward for getting nat 20 Hmark); with a mighty tug, he gets the axe free and it is in his hands again. The Orc then seems to be hyperventaliting... or something... as his pupils get smaller and his muscles get bigger before your verry eyes. Mich fails to trip the large lumbering oaf.
Dathish moves to grab Yanosh, the Shaman orc and does so successfully. The Shaman struggles agains Dathish but cannot get free. "Get him off me!" Yanosh screams, looking at the other orcs. When Dathish puts the dagger to Yanosh's throat, the orc seems to think about it, but then snarls and spits in Dathish's face as he successfully casts a small spell. Spellcraft DC 16 Highlight to display spoiler: { He casts Inflict Light Wounds on Dathish}. As Dathish wrestles with Yanosh, Yanosh's hands glow red as he speaks a few words, then Yanosh grabs Dathish by the throat, leaving a red handprint. (Damage=6 from the spell Dash, he succeeded on his concentration check to cast a spell while grappling.)
Rollo, still keeping with the ruse, casts an amazing spell that knocks a good bit of know-how out of Yanosh's head. You can almost see his brain physically shrink as a result.
Then the other two orcs spring into action. First, Old Timey, decides to drop his staff on the ground and casually walks up to the grappling Dathish and Yanosh (he moves to square H-8). Old Timey grabs Dathish by the shoulder and gives a mighty heave. Apparently, the old orc is extremely experienced at wrestling, as this tug it extremely hard to escape (Dathish beat a DC22 grapple check or be pulled from Yanosh to square I-9) Old Timey, says with glazed eyes, "Let's take this fight to our feet boys" with a tired voice.
Then, the wirey Orc, Krusak, moves past Orag (to square K-10, where Dathish was before he moved to Yanosh) while drawing his dual short-swords, and takes a stab at the now-visible Hmark who steps out of the way JUST in time.

(ooc: Updated the Map, let me know if I missed something) (ooc 2: Just a reminder that your wisdom must be at least 10+spell level to cast divine spells, hopefully that is what this orc uses.) (ooc 3: I'm assuming Sanctuary is gone) (Ocd 1,2,3,4, <bang bang!> 1,2,3,4)
Rollo retains the ruse, taking a step back (5 foot step to H11) to emphasize his point."The gods strip you of your gifts, and attempt to hold your warriors at bay." (Casting hold Person on the Orag<The Beserker>).Give up now, throw down your arms, and you still maybe saved."
(Orag must make a will save DC: 15, or be held)
Selemar [ac 18 hp 23/23] d20+7=23 ; d6=5 ; d20+2=11 ; Wednesday June 10th, 2009 5:51:16 AM
Krusak seems delicious. Selemar tests his theory of orcish deliciousness by biting him for 5. Shun follows and tries to bite, but misses. Maybe he didn't really try. He may have tasted orcs before.
Hmark(AC 18, hp 30/30) d20+11=14 d20+11=24 d8+3=6 Wednesday June 10th, 2009 4:38:34 PM
"I don't think there listening anymore," Hmark singsongs as he attempts to stay out of the way of two slashing swords. The archer tries to back away. and finds his path blocked by some small invisible person.
Which leaves Hmark the option of trying to shoot a guy without getting stuck, or dropping Red and using his flail. The fact that he even considers the second option is a testament to his predicament.
He doesn't consider very long, though.
Swords or not, Hmark is an archer, and he loads and fires point blank into Krusak's face - twice. But, those swords really got the lad worried, and his aim shows it.
[Attacking with bow. Atk 1 - ac 14 (assume i missed) Atk 2 hits ac 24 for 6 hp damage]

(ooc: yeah, the shaman does use Wisdom, Rollo. And you knocked him down a good bit, which is why he is now using only level 1 spells. Good plan. Also, since Dathish did not post with his opposed grapple check, I'm gonna go ahead and rule that the monk guy pulled him off the Shaman, sorry Dathish, but I hate grappling mechanics and everything is easier if people are standing. =)
Hmark fires his traditional two arrows at Krusak, the first of which is deflected by a quick flick of a short-sword, but the second shot bites into his thigh and breaks off. Krusak grunts.
Selemar takes a chunk of buttocks off of Krusak, while Shun simply catches chainmail in his jaws. It tastes oddly more salty than you would have thought.
Rollo casts Hold Person, just in time, as Orag was starting to make a bee-line for Hmark. Orag stops in his tracks, his mouth hanging open, and his eyes darting around in confusion.
Krusak, fighting both a wolf in disguise, a bear, and Hmark begins to slash wildly at the young archer. The first of his twin blades connects with Hmark's left arm, shaving off a portion of skin (8 damage for Hmark). The second blade is harmlessly deflected by the shining mithril mail. "Orag, get over here now and flank this guy with me!" he shouts. But Orag is rather... preoccupied.
Then Yanosh, still with less wisdom than an owlbear, taps his staff on the ground and raises his hand. A red light shoots out from his hand and spreads to each of his allies. Spellcraft DC 16 Highlight to display spoiler: {He casts Bless}
Finally, Old Timey decides that it is unfair for so many creatures to be attacking Krusak and he is alone in the fight. He waltzes over to square K-9 (assuming that Selemar is in square I-10) and gives Selemar a stiff kick in the ribs. Several of your wolf-rib bones snap and you can't help but make a whimpering noise. Old Timey then goes, "Mmmmm." as if anticipating a good barbeque later. (11 bludgegon damage to Selamar)
The rattle of Zeph's chain can be heard, but the young man has yet to get the lock open. He hangs there on the wall like a portrait... a sad, struggling portrait.
The orcs show no sign of stopping and only Krusak is looking worried.

Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21] d20+11=14 ; d6+1=3 ; Thursday June 11th, 2009 1:56:16 PM
Garret, remaining invisible, will move around to get behind the shaman. Then he will strike out with his fist, trying to knock the Shaman out.
-----
I THINK Garret can move to G9 to flank the Shaman as a move action. My guess is that normally that would allow an AAO from the Shaman, but since he's invisible, I would think there's no AAO. If an AAO would present itself, Garret will move further away so he's not hit while moving. If he can move without the AAO, he will attack from G9 on this turn as well, attacking to subdue:

Its a hit, as his teeth slip between the chainmail. Shun also claws Old Timey, leaving some nasty scratches on the old orc's chest. Old Timey is not pleased with this, but does not show any signs of worry.
Rollo summons a Celestial Hippogriff that lands right next to the held Orag with a bright flash of light. Orag's eyes seem to bulge and lock on the creature as his large muscles shake helplessly against the holding spell.
Garret moves invisibly next to Yanosh and delivers a subdual punch to the Shaman's rib cage. He grunts slightly, but seems to be ok. It will be a bruise for sure.
Hmark, locked in an epic battle with Krusak, bow versus dual short swords, shoots twice more, the first arrow hitting the wirey orc square in the chest and the second being deflected by chain mail. Krusak grunts and his eyes begin to lose focus- now with bite marks and two arrows in him.
Krusak screams, "Get over here and help me someone! I'm a trapsmith, not a fighter! I'm getting backed into a corner here!" Then the wirey orc takes two swipes at Hmark, the second of which catches the young archer in the leg and leaves a cut. (4hp damage to Hmark). Then Krusak takes a 5-foot hop to square K-11.
Old Timey seems to be determined to have good wolf barbeque as he unleashes a flurry of elbows, fist, and kicks aimed at Selemar. One punch in particular catches the disguised elf on top of his crown. (6more hp damage for Selemar).
Yanosh, completely surprised by Garret, decides that the greatest threat at this point is the small orc with the big mouth. Yanosh takes a 5-foot hop to square 10-H and casts a spell defensively as to not incur an AOO. DC 16 spellcraftHighlight to display spoiler: { He casts Inflict Light Wounds again}. Rollo recast Sanctuary to protect himself. The Celestial Hippogriff lands a hard claw on Orag's still frame. But, the smite does not seem to work. (Sorry, I made him Chaotic Neutral) Orag still stands (Barely, he rolled 22 on the fort save.. that was his strong save)
Garret lands two blows on Yanosh, the first of which stuns the orc in his tracks. Yanosh's muscles twitch in desperation but nothing happens and he cannot move.
Selemar decides that the fight with Old Timey is not going in his favor, and decides to take a step back. Unfortunately, taking more than one step would incur an AOO (which I rolled and it would incapacitate you), but since you just wanted to be away from Old Timey, I will swap your positions with Dathish. So, Selemar takes a 5-foot hop to I-9 and Dathish moves to J-10. Then, to everyone's surprise, Selemar turns into an elf. Shun misses his attack
Dathish takes a 5-foot hop to J-10 and slashes Krusak in the stomach with great force. Krusak's blood splatters on the ground and he drops to his knees, his twin blades dropping beside him. Then the wirey orc falls on his face, blood pooling about him. He is in the negative.
Mich manages to get a claw into Yanosh's stunned, standing body. (Does Mich really do 1d6+4 damage?)
Then Old Timey takes a long look around the room at his two stunned companions and the fallen one... and he sighs. He speaks in Common so that everyone can understand him, "Wait. Time out. Negotations. We have lost." the incredibly old and fit orc pleads. He does not attack and stands there waiting to help his fallen friend who's life blood is quickly pouring over the floor.
At that moment, there is a loud click heard from the wall and Zeph drops from the chains in a tumbling fumbling heap. He pulls a dagger out of his boot as he stands up ready to fight... only to be too late.
Orag: Held for 2 more rounds. 10 hit points damage. (Blessed) Krusak: 37 hit point damage. Incapacitated (Blessed) Old Timey: 7hp damage. (Blessed) Yanosh: Dumber, and 12 subdual damage and 9 real damage. (Blessed)
Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21] Monday June 15th, 2009 8:41:29 AM

(ooc: I agree Bestow Curse drops sanctuary. which is why he recast it. :) )
"So it takes blood for you to come to your senses, and now you want mercy?."
Rollo looks over at Kiel's body, "What mercy did you show him? What mercy would you show us if we were the ones found weak and wanting? You chose this fight. You should have to live with the consequences."
The gnome looks to Zeph and the chains that held him. "Chain yourself to the wall, old one, and then we may talk."
Hmark(AC 18, hp 18/30) Monday June 15th, 2009 1:24:11 PM
"Thanks, Dash", Hmark breathes as the two sworded orc goes down.
Things suddenly slow down. Despite the pain in his leg and arm, the archer keeps his eyes open for more surprises as he awaits the results of Rollo's discussions.
Dathish [HP41/43) AC:18 Longstride Monday June 15th, 2009 9:04:11 PM
"A pleasure my friend" Dathish replys his breathrate droping as the battle ends. He then moves to disarm and bind the held barbian, than waits ready to see what Yanosh and the old orc do. Turning to the bleading orc on the floor he gestures "Your companion is near death, he needs healing: we can provide such services. If you wish it so, but that is an act of friendship, I beleve the time of war has ended. Let us work together, perhaps we can help you if you tell us what is going on."
ADM Addison HeroesLoot3 d8=4 ; Tuesday June 16th, 2009 3:23:25 AM
The group en large decides to give the Orcs a chance to talk, but stand ready in case it is a trick.
Yanosh comes out of Garret's stun and looks at Old Timey with a snarl, and says in Orcish, "What are you doing?" In reply, Old Timey simply lifts his hand to silence Yanosh and moves over to Krusak.
Then Old Timey speaks again in common, "I need no help to heal him. He is but barely gone. I will chain myself as you requested, but first let me do this." with that, Old Timey pulls a small vial of red liquid out of his pouch and moves to administer the potion to Krusak's hanging mouth... if you allow him to.
If allowed to do that, then Old Timey will go and clamp one hand to the chain that once held Zeph. He cannot clamp the other chain without help.
Yanosh does not look pleased one bit, but defers to Old Timey's greater wisdom and experience.
Orag is still held by the spell for one more round, but is now bound with ropes by Dathish.
Old Timey then speaks again, "We have lost the battle. You can kill us and none would be the wiser. I do not ask for mercy and I do not expect it. Your friend- the ranger- that was necessary. He was... unable to be constrained otherwise... he was... defiant. But I do understand the pain of the loss. I understand too well" Old Timey says slowly.
Then he speaks one last time, "I have seen much bloodshed in my day. It is the young who decide the future now." Then he waits for one of you to speak.
You can now notice how incredibly old this orc is. His skin is sagging with numerous liver spots, his white beard is long and scraggly, he has a small ring of white hair around his head and bald on top. How he managed to fight so well is... amazing.

Selemar heals himself for 8 using his wand.
He clearly doesn't want to stop killing orcs, but gets control of his temper, and waits for someone to begin negotiations. he probably wouldn't be civil. The most he could do is call off the bear
Garret Goodbarrel [ AC:21 HP:21/21] Tuesday June 16th, 2009 8:39:31 AM
Garret does not trust Yanosh and stands at the ready, remaining behind Yanosh in case he should get any ideas. He waits for Rollo to attempt to continue the negotiations.
Rollo[AC:23 HP:22/42]Shield of Faith, Glibness, comprehend language, and Sanctuary Tuesday June 16th, 2009 11:15:12 AM
Before anyone is allowed to heal Rollo turns to the shaman, "Take our friend out of that cage. Then take his place. Can some one tie up that one before we let him live, and take their weapons." Rollo indicates the rogue.
Rollo is not impressed by old timey's change of heart and helps the old man clamp his wrist into the shackle after allowing him to stablize his friend.
"Their is a difference between wisdom and cowardice. You are and your friends are cowards, or do you forget that this one was about to drive his ax through our friends head? Oh I forget that was necessary he was so resistant shackled to the wall."
Rollo is still in full orc mode grunting and slouching. "Who sent you to kill these people. Who purchased your cowardly souls?"
Hmark(AC 18, hp 18/30) Tuesday June 16th, 2009 12:03:31 PM
Hmark shifts his stance, so that Yanosh can clearly view the pointy end of the arrow aimed at his head.
The pain in his side flairs up, causing him to wince. "Selemar", the wounded man hisses softly "Spare a shot from your wand?"

ADM Addison HeroesLoot3 Wednesday June 17th, 2009 2:40:28 AM
Yanosh seems extremely displeased with Rollo command. He looks at Old Timey with a snarl, and Old Timey just nods. Yanosh moves over to Kiel's cage and opens it up. He grabs the fallen ranger by the collar and throws him aside unceremoniously. As he steps into the cage, he leans up against the back of the bars and grunts quietly to Old Timey in orcish, "We would have fared better by fighting. We might have even still won."
Old Timey replies in another whisper in orcish, "Our goal is not to fight and die. You remember our orders. And the battle was lost- we probably stand a better chance of survival now anyways." he says the last one with a nod towards the Celestial Hippogriff. Yanosh seems to understand what Old Timey is getting at.
When Old Timey administers the small vial of red potion to Krusak, the wirey orc does not wake up, but his wounds heal to the point in which he will survive- given time to rest and recuperate. He is unconscious still.
Then Orag finally manages to shake off the powerful Holding spell. But alas, he is bound with ropes and cannot move- he does not struggle. But he looks at Old Timey and Yanosh for any orders that may fly his way.
Then Old Timey answers Rollo's inquiries in common... he speaks quite well. "Firstly. You can call us cowards, but I think you say that word with little information... little orc who clearly serves a different god than us." he says with another nod towards the Celestial creature.
"You ask us who purchased our souls. The answer is nobody. Our souls are our own and always will be, for we are a free people. Now, if you ask who purchased our services, then I will tell you what I know. We were approached by a powerful wizard some time ago to take a "job". We were told that we are being contracted to help a powerful patron who chose to work through intermediaries - we were never told the name of this person. We immediately thought this was all a lie. Then the wizard showed us a display of his power... if the patron is powerful enough to have a Wizard such as this one as an intermediate, then I could only imagine his own power. We were told that if we refused to assist, then our people would be hunted down and murdered. We were told that nothing on this Peninsula was beyond the reach of this powerful person... or organization... I don't know which yet." At this point, Old Timey takes a long breath and waits a few seconds... then starts again.
" If we did help and were successful, then our people would be greatly rewarded when all the plans come to fruition. Our people, the orcs, although proud, are pawns, and we know our place- we accepted. We were told to gather a team of the tribe's finest and to devise a plan to belay a group of pink-skins traveling through the Whinbourne Hills. We did what we were told. Our tribe's elders, myself included, did not know whether what the Wizard told us was true or not. But we decided to send four of our strongest to save thousands. You may call that cowardice if you like."
Then Old Timey looks at Kiel's limp frame. "He was not killed in the cell. He was killed in the struggle to capture them. We were only supposed to capture the black-haired one. It was unexpected that he would be there as well. Taking his body with us to the cave was so we would have time to see if there were any valuables that could be utilized in the possible upcoming battle with you... we hoped beyond hope that the traps Krusak devised would kill you all." Old TImey looks over at the leather armor adorning Krusak's body when he says 'valuables'. (Sorry, I forgot that Kiel had Studded Leather, not chain shirt.)
Then Old Timey waits to see what happens next. "I think we have succeeded in our mission whether we die here or not." he says with a yellow-toothed grin. Then he is silent.
At this point, Zeph who was occupying himself by regathering all his things that were rummaged through by orc fingers, marches up to Yanosh with a black short-sword drawn in one hand and his warhammer in his other. Rage is in his eyes and he seems to be hell-bent on vengeance. He is mumbling something as he walks. He has sweat mixed with clotted blood coming from his matted hair and streaming down his face.

Garret sees and hears noone else approaching. The group is very alone.
Selemar heals Hmark a bit.
Zeph is a bit surprised that Rollo would allow such a thing, but he does not care for anger has filled his heart. Zeph rushes Old Timey's helpless form with his Warhammer and swings it aimed at the old orc's legs. There is a loud crack and Yanosh screams in pain. Then Zeph plunges the short sword into Old TImey's side, that is met with another scream. "What gives you the right to capture me, ME. I want you so SUFFER." Zeph screams at him, pure bloodthirsty rage in his voice.
At this moment Yanosh comes bolting out of the cage and tries to punch Zeph (the cage never had a lock on it) being that he is disarmed and possibly out of spells. Zeph easily sidesteps the foolish maneuver and smashes Yanosh over the head with his Warhammer (He provoked an AOO from Zeph by attacking unarmed). Yanosh hits the ground unconscious (total of 30hp damage put him down- some of that was subdual so he is not bleeding to death.)
Then, Orag flexes all his muscles and burst from the bindings (got a natural 20) and likewise rushes Zeph. Orag punches Zeph in the face really really really hard (10 damage). Zeph seems stunned, but is still standing.. though he is wobbling quite a bit.

Caught a little off-guard, the rest of the group nevertheless back Zeph's move. Rollo's eagle, with Garrett's help, finishes off Orag. Within an astonishingly short time, it becomes clear that none of these orcs will ever kidnap anyone again.

After the 'battle', Zeph will look to Kiel and say, "We should bury him. Would you say a few words, Rollo? Or perhaps Selemar?"
I wasn't strong enough to defend him... I couldn't persuade him to not engage those orcs. There was so much hatred. I need to find a way to become more powerful. I cannot let something like this happen again. I'm sorry Kiel. Zeph thinks to himself.
On the journey, Zeph is a bit... quieter. He will spend his time reading and counting the value of the items obtained from the Orcs... he doesn't know if he wants to count Kiel's items or not.
When the group arrives at the camp spot, Zeph will approach Dathish, "I apologize for my actions. I was... angered..." he will say, the last part slowly

It is a quiet and thoughtful group that buries their former companion and makes camp. Zeph's actions seem harsh and perhaps even wicked to some of the group. However, Zeph obviously bears the brunt of Kiel's loss, so perhaps this isn't a sign of things to come.
As if to mock your somber mood, the evening is warm and pleasant, with pink and orange light lingering in the sky even as the first stars begin to emerge.
Your night is undisturbed, and you awaken to singing birds and every indication of another sunny day to come.
ZephHeroesLoot3 Tuesday June 23rd, 2009 2:06:06 AM Revenge... Justice... two sides of the same coin. What's the difference if the end result is the same? What would he have done? Left Old Timey there to rot? That's also a death sentence, why not just do it for him and save him the trouble of starving to death? Perhaps... perhaps not. I don't know... I don't care... I just can't let it happen again. Dathish is right that control is necessary... Not allow me to become a wild-fire? Would he kill me if I do actions that are against his moral judgment? Well, he could try to kill me- wouldn't be the first person. HIS moral judgment? What makes it so much better than my own? I won't bend myself to someone else's will. I will do what I think is right. Perhaps my sense of justice is just... different... doesn't make it wrong or any worse than anyone else's. But... then again... control... control is key. I need to find a way... need to find a way to become stronger." Zeph thinks, his mind cut into two opposing factions. If anyone would look at his face while traveling, his brow will be furrowed in deep, conflicting thinking.
Eventually Zeph will come out of his trance and look around. "Well. Wyverns right? How much do you think we have been put behind in our search... and why do you think the orc said he was supposed to delay us? What's the point of delaying and not stopping? Zeph asks.
Then Zeph will look at the ground and frown. Wish we had a tracker... Zeph thinks and returns to his brooding.

The morning beckons. Hmark polishes up Red again and rises. Its a new day, time to make the best of it. He claps Zeph on the shoulder. "No use trying to think like an orc," he counsels. "Let's just go find us this wyvern."
Later, he pulls Dathish aside. "I know you're ticked about yesterday," he soothes. "But we've already had a lot of grief over the 'I won't let you do such and such' comments. Lot o' problems with that phrase back in the day." The archer holds his hands up, palms outward and shrugs a bit. "I ain't trying to rile ya.
