Grymash stops for a moment to listen (Listen 16) and look to see if anyone is near him (Spot 4). Instead of racing off, he kneels down and employs the glamour magik of his steelgrass armor. Changing its shape to the his black priestly robes of Gargul. Hoping the darker color would help him blend in the shadows of the deep grass. (Hide check 21)

Flea bites her lip to avoid showing any pain and presses on with her attack. Her first two swings are hurried and miss, but her last...well her last swing with the shortsword strikes home [Hit AC=28 for 4+7+17=28 hp]. She then dodges any retaliation directed her way.

Tishe' ignores the pain and concentrates to complete her spell. A tiger appears next to Adversary #2 and begins attacking. Tishe' attempts to cast another spell but her concentration is broken. The theurge retreats into what she hopes is the concealment of the long grass.

The tiger claws at Adversary #2 and almost hits the agile opponent. Most importantly, the tiger is not able to embrace and grapple the opponent.
DM Note -- Tiger's reach is only 5 ft, so I moved it closer

The hippogriff wheels in flight and attempts to attack the flying Adversary #3 again.

Trellus casts a more powerful spell at the flying Adversary #3 in hopes of removing some of the protective and other magic aiding this opponent. Trellus isn't certain exactly what other spell he removed but he does have the satisfaction of seeing Adversary #3 begin falling from the sky. Almost immediately, however, the opponent slows and begins dropping gradually to the ground.

Yanosh casts a spell and then closes with Adversary #2. The chain whips out since the opponent is not grappled. This time, the chain hits Yanosh squarely and slices him deeply.
AoO #1 -- hits AC 37 (threat), confirmed AC 23, 31 damage

Olaf tumbles towards the two large opponents, twisting and weaving and not allowing them to attack. His sickle reaches out towards Adversary #1 and wraps around the man's large ankle. When Olaf tries to trip him, it is like pulling on a column of stone set in the ground. A column of stone that can be slowly toppled to the ground, resulting in the man lying on the ground at Olaf's feet. Olaf would, if he could, continue attacking but has already moved to get here.

Gilan steps closer and then bites at Adversary #2. The remorhaz' teeth clamp around the opponent's body and hold tight.
DM Note -- Reach for a remorhaz is only 10 ft, so I moved closer

Out in the grass, Grymash crouches down and attempts to hide himself. He cannot hear or see anyone pursuing him, especially since that flying opponent seems to have fallen from the sky.

Flea stands over the fallen Adverasry #1 and swings her shortsword. It almost hits but she can't damage the opponent.

Adversary #1 stands up, allowing Flea and Olaf a chance to attack him. Once on his feet, the man concentrates and casts a spell. The opponent reaches over and touches Adversary #4.

Adversary #2 squirms and squeezes out of Gilan's mouth. The man then bounds backwards away from the remorhaz and closes with Trellus.

Adversary #3 moves closer to Trellus before beginning to cast a spell. A Cone of Cold sweeps over Trellus, Tishe' Yanosh, Gilan and the summoned tiger.

Adversary #4 stops retching after Adversary #1 touched him. He moves through the Stinking Cloud, allowing Olaf to attack. Adversary #4 emerges from the other side and hits Gilan with his large longsword but barely scratches the remorhaz.

"Come on ya big lug...let's get you down!" Olaf grumbles as the caster on the ground in front of him stands up, his sickle coming around again to hit the creature, but missing.

He then curses as the spell gets off, with nothing he can do against it. And off balance, he watches helplessly as Adv 4 moves through the cloud and out.

Hoping to improve their chances against this tough nut, he weaves his way around the dense Adv 1 to I17, then readies himself for Adv1's attack.

Gilan feels the ice flick across his body, but his super-heated skin wards off most of it and he grins at the swordsman. His head lowers and he brings it forcefully up as his body bolts forward to connect with greater force. If he is lucky, this should hopefully buy them a little time with at least this opponent.

ooc: DMJohn, I think that Escape Artist from a Grapple is a full round action? If not, Ad#2 left Gilan and Tiger's threatened area and should get a AAO?

ooc2: OK, grasping at straws here since I think we're gonna get pummelled here....

As Adversary#2 jumps away from the rehmoraz, the Tiger takes a swipe but misses.

And then the cone of cold washes over Tishe' whose concentration on Ad#3 slows her reflexes just a hair too much. She falls into the Grasses unconscious. The Tiger manages to whirl away from the worst of the blast.

The Celestial Hippogryph executes a wingover and lands next to Adversary#3 with another attempted claw attack.

And the Tiger bounds after Adversary#3, his intended target. A launched attack with claws, teeth, and a raking claw attack fail to wound the well armored man at all!

Flea identifies the assailant she and Olaf are trying to defeat as being quite important back-up to its peers. She pokes at it as it tries to rise...but is unsuccessful. She flails away with her short sword, but she learns that only the most accurate of strikes is going to succeed. (Fail with 31, 19, 20).

The rogue hears Trellus call...FLEE! .. and grunts out... " BUSY!" None the less, the rogue takes a step to one side, and looks over her shoulder for the cleric.

Olaf tumbles around the enlarged human Adversary #1 and readies himself to attack.

Trellus withstands some of the cold and steps back. He concentrates and casts a spell targeting the two nearest adversaries. Only one is affected, though, but the chain-wielding Adversary #2 turns and prepares to run.

Yanosh falls to the ground, overcome by the cold magic.

Gilan squarely hits the enlarged Adversary #4. The remorhaz' mouth cannot quite hold the enlarged opponent tight.

Tishe' orders her summoned creatures to continue attacking. The celestial hippogriff dives and attacks Adversary #3 but cannot hit. The tiger manages to avoid some of the cold and bounds after Adversary #2. It also cannot hit. Tishe' is also overcome by the cold magic and falls to the ground.
DM Note -- Using Escape Artist to escape from grapple is only a Standard Action, not full round. Sent tiger after #2 since I think that was the last opponent it was after.

Flea keeps trying to attack Adversary #1 but cannot get past the opponents defenses.
DM Reward - 100 XP for putting some levity into the situation ...

Grymash is deep into the grass and thinks that he capably hidden himself and the Child.

Adversary #1 steps back slightly and continues to jab its trident at Flea. As soon as it does, Olaf attacks and tries to trip the opponent but this time the opponent is too solidly planted. Flea blinks out to avoid the first two jabs of the trident but the third catches the gnome.
Attack 1 -- hits AC 26, <50% (miss)
Attack 2 -- hits AC 30, <50% (miss)
Attack 3 -- hits AC 26, >50%, 16 damage


Adversary #2 begins running away from Trellus. The tiger attacks as the opponent runs away but cannot hit. Adversary #2 is moving extremely quickly, easily three or four times faster than Trellus and twice the speed of the tiger. The opponent dashes off into the long grass and is lost to sight somewhere to the south.

Adversary #3 calls out, "Going up! Bartok is running away and I'll need to follow!" The opponent then casts a Fly spell, concentrating to avoid any attacks from the hippogriff. Adversary #3 then moves up into the air, allowing the hippogriff to attack. The summoned creature cannot hit, though.

Adversary #4 squares off with the remorhaz. The longsword swings repeatedly, but only hits Gilan twice. The last strike, though, is enough to seriously injure Gilan.

Trellus is more than happy to see the wizard take off after this Bartok dude. He wheels around and circles in behind Yanosh. Reaching the dwarf, the cleric casts a spell, healing him of some of his wounds.

In a cold dream, Tishe' imagines that she is warm and cozy among friends in a faraway Giggling Ghost Inn...

The Hippogryph continues to target its last foe, striking at Adversary#3 as he rises from the ground, and then following in the air for another swipe.

The Tiger blinks for having its prey escape so quickly, then focuses on the next closest enemy, Adversary #4. With a leap and a pounce, four sets of claws and one set of teeth seek to bear down on the longswordsman.

The impact staggers Gilan and he feels his life slowly slipping away in the number of wounds that he is taking. Still his haze fogged mind will not let him retreat and even if he did, he would need to change to aid himself with healing. Taking his chances his head snaps forward at the man that had just cut into him. His loss of blood and haze that this has put him into makes his attempt far off it's mark.

Flea recognizes that her sword just isn't going to cut it with her enemy, and decides desperate measures are necessary. She bites back the pain from her wounds as she sheaths her sword and then speaks ancient words of magic. Waving her arms about she points to the space directely in front of her enemy. The smell of pork fat (success with 39% vs Blink) emanates from the spot she signifies. (Grease spell - Reflex save vs 12 or fall) PHB p. 237

Trellus moves to beside the fallen Yanosh. The human cleric casts a spell and crouches down to heal the fallen dwarf.

Tishe' has a vision of a distant place that she has visited before in her dreams. While the theurge is fading in and out of consciousness, the summoned creatures continue to attack. The hippogriff hits Adversary #3 when that opponent flies upward but does no damage. It then follows the opponent into the air and attacks again. The tiger bounds over to attack Adversary #4 and the opponent swings her longsword at it. The blade slices into the great cat and nearly sends it back to where it came from. The tiger attacks but cannot hit the very protected opponent.
AoO hits AC 34, 25 damage

Yanosh stands up even through Adversary #4 could attack him. The opponent cannot attack again, though. Triggering the magic of his tattoo gets Yanosh ready for the fight once more.

Olaf slides around the large Adversary #1 and tries to trip the opponent once more. The large opponent topples to the ground and Olaf's sickle slices through an opening in the man's armor. A last attack misses the prone opponent.

Gilan attacks Adversary #4 again but does not hit.

Flea steps back and casts a spell at the space under the prone body of Adversary #1. A shimmering coating of oil or fat forms on the crushed blades and stems of grass.

Adversary #1 attempts to stand up, allowing Olaf to keep attacking. The opponent is able to get on his feet but cannot move from the greasy area. Adversary #1 jabs his trident at Olaf but misses.

Adversary #1 begins cursing, blaspheming the names of all the Gods of the Wold before calling upon Ga'al for strength. "After Bartok and Ra'al! The half-orc has hidden the prize somewhere south of here!"

Adversary #2 is somewhere in the grass. Grymash can distantly hear the unarmored opponent running to the south, probably past the train of refugees by now.

Adversary #3 flies southwards in an effort to keep the fleeing opponent #2 in sight. He is soon lost to sight. The hippogriff gets a chance to attack as the flying opponent moves away. Tishe' notes that the opponent is moving probably half again as fast as a Fly spell should grant, but still slightly slower than the hippogriff.

Adversary #4 continues attacking Gilan. The first two swings are not even close but the third hits a vital spot on the shifter. Gilan slumps to the ground and shifts back to his human form.

The Bloodpack have just seen one of their friends and long-time companions cut down before them. It can only be hoped that they still have some favor with Gargul ... or, perhaps, his curse.

The large remorhaz gushes a gout of crimson blood from the large gash that is ripped through his body with the last sword stroke. As he topples over, his body rippled and becomes the man once again. His lifes blood is quickly soaking the ground and before long...there is nothing left to pour out.

"Sure you'll be okay?" Flea calls to Olaf, as she turns to engage the next adversary. Unable to see past the enemy (#4) the rogue non-the less notices the bulk of Gilan-creature is no longer looming behind it. Without moving from her spot a wand is pulled from her sash and discharged as she phases in and out (38% success, UMD=34 (nat. 20!) 14 dmg) an explosion of magical energy flies from the recently re-charged wand, heading unerringly at #4.

"Where's Gilan? shouts the gnome, a touch of panic in her voice.

Gilan slumps to the ground.

Yanosh steps closer and attacks Adversary #4. Neither attack comes close to the full-plate wearing and magically protected opponent.

Olaf attacks Adversary #1 when the enlarged human tries to stand, damaging the opponent. His next attack knocks the enlarged opponent down again, allowing Olaf to take a quick attack. This misses, as does a follow-up attack. But the man is on the ground and vulnerable to any sneak attacks from Olaf or Flea.

Tishe' feels her life slowly ebb away. While she lies on the grass, the hippogriff attacks the flying Adversary #3 and then pursues the man as he flies away. The tiger goes back to where it came from.

Flea removes a wand from her cloak and manages to activate it. The beads of magical force unerringly fly towards Adversary #4 and then fizzle into nothing. Some spell or device is protecting the opponent from magical attacks.

Grymash feels a troubling ripple through the Dragon Tear and returns to the field.

Trellus moves slightly and casts a healing spell that returns Tishe' to the waking world.

Adversary #1 is prone in a greasy patch of grass. The enlarged opponent manages to get to his feet, allowing Olaf a chance to attack. The enlarged man then moves slowly away and Olaf gets another chance to attack.

Olaf -- Two (2) AoO vs. AC 34 (if you can take two). If you try to trip, work it out and the opponent will end up back in the Grease spot.[/i]

Adversary #2 stops running. When he notices Adversary #3 in the air, he heads towards the flying opponent.

Adversary #3 is able to reach Adversary #2 this round. Grymash can hear them, calling to one another.

Adversary #4 moves away from Yanosh, allowing the dwarf a chance to attack. It's not really clear what the enlarged woman is trying to achieve or where she wants to go.

Gilan floats for a little while over his own body and sighs. For some reason he is not satisfied with the way things had turned out, but there is little he can do to help out his pack. With a last glance around he assumes a floating position, about six feet off the ground and cross-legged, so that he can watch the last of the battle. Let the rest of them survive this and the child be given to the Manfri for protection. If at least that request is given he will gladly accept the call to return to the Woldsblood and to Gargul.

He could feel the streams of Woldsblood that are located under the ground of the Plains as well as those that flowed in this inbetween realm. The seductive call to move to one and then let it sweep him away was almost too much to resist...but he had to know first. He had to see his pack get to safety, then he would freely go.

"Not so fast!" Olaf shouts as the giant in front of him stands up and attempts to sidle away. Saving his reaction for possible movement, he's rewarded when his opponent moves through the grease--but then curses when his sickle misses the foot, passing harmlessly through the grass nearby.

Trying to make good on his promise to Flea, he skirts the grease and reengages Adv 1. He lays his sickle around a wrist this time, hoping to get some traction. Again, Olaf is stymied, drawing neither blood nor balance.

Tishe' sits up and looks at Trellus with eyes that are seeing something else. "Another green gnomish, please", she tells him before her eyes focus on the here-and-now. "Oh!"

Not bothering to get up, TIshe' weaves her hands and voice into a spell that targets Adversary#4's magical support.

The Hippogryph continues to worry at Adversary#3, but cant get an opportunity to wound the well-protected flyer.

The spirit of Gilan serenely studies the battle ground even while it feels the tug of the streams of Woldsblood beneath the Sargrass.

Olaf attempts to trip Adversary #1 when the opponent moved away but could not down the enlarged opponent. Once Adversary #1 has moved, Olaf tumbles to put himself between Flea and the opponent. Another attempt at tripping the man fails, however.

Tishe' pulls herself together and casts a spell at Adversary #4, hoping to remove some of the magical spells protecting the man. She manages to remove some spells but can't really tell exactly what, just yet. Meanwhile, the hippogriff continues to harry the flying Adversary #3.

Trellus does the same, targeting Adversary #1. There isn't the satisfaction of seeing the opponent immediately shrink in size, but Trellus is certain that his spell did something.

Flea activates her wand once more, with exactly the same disappointing results. The magical beads of force head unerringly towards Adversary #1 before fizzling out.

Grymash casts Silence onto one of his daggers and then moves along the grassline quietly going north away from the combatants and closer to his pack. He also employs freedom of movement, granted to him by his travel domain, so not to impede his movement or disturb the grass. (can move a max of 80ft)

Yanosh charges Adversary #4 and the opponent hits the dwarf as he closes. Yanosh slices into the opponent and this time his axe does full damage. Whatever magic that the opponent had used to reduce the damage from attacks no longer exists. As well, Adversary #4 didn't hit quite as hard as he had before.

Grymash casts a spell and then moves silently towards his companions and the two adversaries.

Adversary #1 yells to his companion, "Deal with these ones! I'm going to help Bartok and Ra'al find the Heart!" Before leaving, Adversary #1 jabs at Olaf with his trident and misses. The opponent then turns, allowing Olaf to attack as he moves away.

Adversary #3 casts a spell before rising into the air. Adversary #2 flies up, as well, and begins flying slowly over the grass. Presumably, they are searching for the Child.

Adversary #4 moves 5 feet so that she can threaten both Tishe' and Trellus with his enlarged longsword. Then she swings at Yanosh, trying to remove that threat. Her first two attacks slice into the dwarf, nearly draining life from him.

Attack 2 -- hits AC 33, 21 damage to Yanosh


Adversary #4 then turns on Trellus but the human cleric is too well protected. In addition to being weaker and less protected, this opponent isn't moving as quickly as he had been.

Oh for something to do besides just float here and be forced to watch a fight that he has no way of helping with. Growling, he taps his fingers upon his thighs and just shakes his head. He had been stupid to hold his ground and not think about healing when he knew he was in trouble.

Gilan wishes to do something other than linger over the battleground.

Yanosh slumps to the ground.

Grymash utilizes the magic of his seal and tries to send healing energy to Yanosh. The dwarf feels a surge of positive energy bring him back from the brink of meeting his God.

Trellus concentrates and casts a spell. With the protective magic, the human cleric steps closer to the enlarged Adversary #4.

Olaf tries to trip Adversary #1 as the enlarged man moves south towards the other adversaries and where Grymash has hidden the Child. Then, he casts a spell and pursues the enlarged human.

Flea moves to the side of Yanosh and uses a wand to further heal the dwarf.

Tishe' manages to just catch Adversary #4 within the bounds of a spell. The opponent struggles within the sphere but cannot escape. Meanwhile, the hippogriff finally hits the flying magic user but doesn't do quite as much damage as expected.

Adversary #1 ignores the pursuing Olaf and continues moving south to aid in the search for the Child. The enlarged man nearly reaches them this turn, aided by some kind of magic that increases his movement.

Adversary #2 and #3 fly away from the hippogriff, allowing it to attack once more. They circle over the grass briefly before Adversary #2 suddenly shouts, "Found it! Look! Over there, nearly hidden by the grass!". When Grymash looks, he believes that the pair has spotted the hidden egg.

Adversary #4 would have delivered a massive stroke to Trellus but, instead, is trapped inside a sphere of force.

Letting out a breath of relief, Tishe' warns Trellus, "the treadle may have magics to negate my sphere. Let's take advantage while she's out of the fight!"

Stepping out and away from Adversary #4 (move to X,18) Tishe' notices that the other enemy think they have found something. "Time to make them waste some more time.", she says to no one in particular, and another spell comes from the mystic. "Mother Wold, thank you for your gifts."

In the Sargrass (centered on P,45) a storm of icy water blocks sight and land movement around the Adversaries.

The hippogryph tries valiantly, but can't lay a claw on Adversary#3.

(OoC I dont believe that the healing from Gry works on Yanosh. Yanosh does not have the Dragons tear in his chest like others of the Bloodpack have. So I will take the healing from Flea and not from Gry.)

Standing slowly Yanosh shakes his head. Drawing on his healing from Gargul Yanosh feels his wounds mending. His knuckles pop as he grips his Axe firmly. Looking at badguy#4 Yanosh sees that she is taken care of at the momnet and strides forward looking for another. 'Protect the child rings in his mind.' Singleminded the enraged Dwarf stalks his next advisary. (who ever is closest.)

Okay, folks. I did screw up about Grymash hiding the Child, and he still has it with him. Adversary #2 still rolled a natural 20 on his Spot roll and achieved a result of 41, so Grymash got spotted. It's gonna take some time for the adversaries to reach him, though ...

Everyone notices that Adversary #4 is now returned to her original medium size within the sphere of force.

Tishe' backs away from the closest adversary before casting a spell. A roiling mass of ice and snow forms below the feet of the two flying adversaries, hiding Adversary #1 from sight.

Yanosh stands up and begins moving towards the three other adversaries. Hopefully they are coming towards him, since his short dwarf legs means that it will be some time before he can get there.

Clutching his Silenced pebble, Olaf moves into the edge of the Sleet Storm. He's still visible to his companions, but is affected by the magic.

Letting out a breath of relief, Tishe' warns Trellus, "the treadle may have magics to negate my sphere. Let's take advantage while she's out of the fight!"

Stepping out and away from Adversary #4 (move to X,18) Tishe' notices that the other enemy think they have found something. "Time to make them waste some more time.", she says to no one in particular, and another spell comes from the mystic. "Mother Wold, thank you for your gifts."

In the Sargrass (centered on P,45) a storm of icy water blocks sight and land movement around the Adversaries.

The hippogryph tries valiantly, but can't lay a claw on Adversary#3.

Grymash turns to the Child and begins to speak to it. "I will defend you with my life. However, I will need your help. These treadles wish to take you where you would not like to go. It time you show your power and let them know who you are and that you won't be treated as a "thing" anymore."

Grymash moves out into the open and walks over to Yanosh. "You have fought well, but now I think its my turn to fight. Will you take the Child?" If Yanosh agrees, he will hand over the Child. He will then take out a vial from his pouch, and drink it down in a single gulp. Grymash begins to grow twice his size. Another giant has entered the field of battle, and this one has massive double bladed axe of adamantine. This time it's on the side of Gargul.

Adversary #1 somehow manages to remain on his feet and begins moving through the murk of the Sleet Storm. The opponent is moving towards where Adversary #2 had pointed and stumbles into Olaf. A quick jab with the trident misses, though.

Adversary #2 flies towards Grymash, still staying 30 feet up in the air.

Adversary #3 also flies back but stops partway to cast a Dispel Magic spell. The target is obvious, since the sphere surrounding Adversary #4 disappears.

Tishe' -- AoO from the Hippogriff vs. AC 26

Adversary #4 moves to engage the closest and most obvious threat. Her longsword swings once at Grymash and hits the half-orc.

A silent grimace covers Olaf's face as the trident slices by him, missing. He grunts, but no sound comes out. His sickle slices once, twice. The enemy goes down once more. He slides East 5', keeping himself interposed between the enemy and the rest of the 'pack.

Healing from Trellus and then the Child courses through Tishe' and she feels almost as healthy as when the battle started.

Tishe' moves south to get within the Concealing Grasses, but still be able to see out. She is not concerned with slowing herself down since her druidic powers makes her a friend to all flora.

"Lets see if I can't keep them off balance a little", she says. A small White Spell is murmured by the scion of Hook City, seeking to make the blade of Adversary#4 too slippery to hold onto!

The hippogryph takes a last, ineffectual swipe of his claw before returning to the Lands of Rest.

Last turn, he hadn't consumed the potion (see the DM post ... movement, then move equivalent to remove potion from pouch).

Here's the question - after clicking the boots this round, does Grymash prefer to consume the potion and take advantage of being Enlarged, or make a full-round attack on Adversary #4?

Silently Yanosh takes the Child from Gry. Tucking it in behind his sheild like a "football" he stands just far enough from the Half-Orc to give him room to fight. Knowing Gry will quickly become very large Yanosh stays just with in Grys reach so he can recieve some protection from his brother Cleric.

(OoC Yanosh holds the Child in one hand unless it is too large then he replaces his Axe on his back and holds it with two.)

Olaf steps east to block Adversary #1 from advancing on his companions. His sickle lashes out and trips the large opponent once more.

Trellus casts a spell at the flying Adversary #2 but the opponent nimbly twists out of the way. The human cleric then advances upon Adversary #4 to improve Grymash's chances of hitting.

Grymash allows Yanosh to take the Child from him. Then, clicking the heels of his boots together, Grymash downs the potion and attacks Adversary #4. Only one of the attacks hits, however, but it does damage the woman.

Yanosh accepts the Child and stays close to Grymash for protection.

Adversary #3 moves closer until he is nearly overhead. The opponent then casts another Dispel Magic spell at Grymash. Several of the spells affecting the half-orc are removed, rendering him less potent in combat.

Since Grymash is enlarged, so is his weapon. The weapon damage scale chart in the Players Handbook shows that a Medium-sized weapon that deals 1d8 will deal 2d6 when Large-sized. Grymash was also using Powerattack. When using a weapon with two hands, the damage benefits and doubled.

Dispel Magic will ONLY dispel ONE spell per casting. If you do an area dispel, it will only dispel the first successfully dispelled spell, that starting with the highest level spell and working its way down. Once the first spell is dispelled, the Dispel Magic spell ends. You do not dispel multiple magical effects with a single casting. The adversary would need to cast Dispel Magic five (5) times to dispel everything that is on him at the moment.

I quote from the Players Handbook, page 223. On Area Dispels, as written in the Dispel Magic spell description.

"For each creature within the area that is the subject of one or more spells, you make a dispel check against the spell with the highest caster level. If that check fails, you make dispel checks against progressively weaker spells until you dispel ONE spell (which discharges the dispel magic spell so far as that target is concerned) or until you fail all your checks. The creature's magic items are not affected."

SteveK ooc: I don't think the adversary cast an Area dispel, but a Targeted dispel on Grymash. in PHB... "Targeted Dispel: One object, creature, or spell is the target of the dispel magic spell. You make a dispel check (1d20 + your caster level, maximum +10) against the spell or against each ongoing spell currently in effect on the object or creature. The DM has been letting the PC targeted dispels affect EACH ongoing spell effect on our enemies. The adversaries are merely turning the tables on us. Piggies!

Taking a scroll out of her Pants o Plenty, Tishe' reads and directs the energies towards Adversary #3. A second green sphere of impenetrable energy attempts to surround the enemy mage.

The only good thing about these two treadles grabbing Yanosh is they really can't do anything else. Trellus leaves swordless dude for Gry, and steps around to the other one. Reaching the dude, he casts a spell, and slaps the man in the face.

(I think the point is being missed. It doesn't matter if its a targeted dispel or an area dispel or any version of the spell you cast. A Dispel Magic spell only dispels ONE spell with each casting. The Dispel Magic spell ends upon its first successful dispelling of a single spell, starting with the highest level spell to the lowest level, and then no more.

Yes, the spell does say that you make a dispel check with each active spell on the target, however after the first successful dispel check on a spell is made, and that spell effect goes away, the Dispel Magic spell ends and no more spells are dispelled until another dispelling attempt is tried. Simply put ... one Dispel Magic spell only effects one spell, no matter what version you use. To affect more than one spell is far more powerful than any other 3rd level spell. Even a Greater Dispel Magic isn't meant to do that.)

Seeing Gry attack the one pinning him Yanosh maintains his hold on the Child. If the hold is broken then Yanosh smiles slyly and speaks a few words and gestures quickly and disappears from sight.

Yanosh casts his domain spell of Ethereal Jaunt. Once invisible Yanosh flies upwards 10 feet.

Flea tumbles (Tumble=27) past #4 to the left, arriving in front of Yanosh. If he is still visible, she grabs the egg from the dwarven cleric, and then darts back to her left, brushing by Grymash as she heads to the tall grasses. Using all of her skills to avoid the enemy and diving into the deep grasses. (Hide=37, -5 because of moving=32) Position X24.

If Yanosh manages to become invisible and escape with the egg, Flea shouts out "I've got it" and curves her body, her arms wrapped around an imaginary burden. (Bluff=15). She then heads for the tall grasses (as noted above.)

Tishe' removes a scroll from one of the innumerable pockets on her pants and casts a spell from it. She is disappointed when the spell fails to penetrate through whatever protective magic is shielding the flying Adversary #3.

Trellus moves around the combatants, casting a spell as he goes. Once he gets close, he slaps Adversary #2 but the magic fails to penetrate through whatever spell is protecting this opponent.

Grymash swings at Adversary #4 as he grapples Yanosh but his swing goes wide. After clicking his boots again, the half-orc swings repeatedly at the woman as she grapples with Yanosh. He strikes three times, wounding the woman badly and the magic of his sword simply makes matters worse.

Oalf attacks Adversary #1 when the opponent stood up. Two more attacks result in the opponent being tripped once more.

Yanosh is still pinned since Grymash hasn't (quite) managed to finish off that opponent.

Flea moves around the grappling opponents and reaches in to take the Child from Yanosh. Both of the opponents have concentrated on catching and holding Yanosh and haven't reached for the Child, so Yanosh is able to allow Flea to take it. The gnome then heads off and attempts to hide in the long grass.

Adversary #1 stands once more, again allowing Olaf to attack. This time, however, the opponent moves towards the other adversaries who are grappling with Yanosh.

Adversary #2 releases Yanosh and looks around, but is unable to spot where Flea has hidden herself away. "Over there, someplace! I think!". The opponent then kicks and punches at Trellus since the cleric is right there in front of him. Trellus is hit once before the opponent steps back 5 feet.

Attack 2 -- hits AC 28, 15 damage


Adversary #3 begins casting a spell. After a full round, an arrow of acid shoots down towards Grymash.

Moving south to more tall Grasses, the plain-faced woman wipes dirt and sweat off of her face. "I'm going to have to be careful or the insects will..." her mouth stops as her mind races.

Then her hands dart out in quick passes while her mouth gives a fervent prayer to Ebyron, Father Wold: "may your vengeance and the insects of the land come to these who have slain your servant Gilan!"

And a cube of water comes crashing down to drench Adversary#2 on the Sargrass Plains...

Trellus activates his boots and flies up into the air. As he passes by Adversary #2, the opponent punches Trellus and injures him.

Tishe' moves and casts a spell. A deluge of water suddenly appears beneath Trellus' feet and crashes down to soak Adversary #2.

Grymash attacks Adversary #4 but only hits once. The woman still stands, although she is badly injured.

Flea quaffs a potion to hide even better in the depths of the grass.

Olaf misses Adversary #1 as the opponent moves north. Olaf follows, tumbling to avoid being hit. Another attempt at tripping the opponent fails.

Yanosh ... waits.

Adversary #1 shrinks back down to a normal size for a human opponent. The man moves twenty feet north and then begins the motions for casting a spell, but cannot due to the Silence spell on the pebble carried by Olaf.

Anger rises in him as Flea take the Child and retreats to safety. Speaking a few words a sparkeling War Hammer of force appears. Yanosh sends it flying in to attack badguy #4. Missing wide of its mark the spell winks out as if never cast. Growling at his failur to harm the one yanosh closes in Axe at the ready.

Yanosh closes in on badguy #4 Shield up and Axe ready for an attack.

Tishe' is a little dissappointed that insects have not boiled out of the Sargrass to consume Adversary#2, but her attention on the wet one is shortlived, as a Glitterdust strikes at her!

Easily shrugging off the blinding mica storm, Tishe' moves out of the flurry, a glittering woman impossible to hide.

"A good notion", she calls to the hovering mage, "but only good enough for those with less discipline!"

And with that, Tishe' sends her own Glitterdust spell to wrap around Adversary#1 and Adversary#4!

The dude with the feet smacks Trellus as he rises into the air, but again, thanks to the protective spell, the cleric doesn't feel anything [Stoneskin].

Ignoring the fight below, Trellus closes in on the wizard.
"Domi give me strength," he intones, invoking the power of his god. Upon reaching the treadle, the blond man uses the opportunity to fufill his fervent wish to smash something.

Totally dedicated to the task at hand, the invisible gnome craddles Gargul's precious egg-child and moves as carefully through the tall grasses (Hide=59, Move Silently=18)as her magics and her skills allow.

Talki Fresal, Dondit Liki....Talki Fresal, Dondit Liki... she silently prays the words of her vow to the Sargrass as a mantra, hoping to force out the horror of what has happened and what may very well be happening the the Bloodpack as they try to fulfill their promise to the god of Life and Death.

Yanosh casts a spell that fails to affect Adversary #4. The dwarf wants to close with that opponent but his companions have warned him about the hazards of water in the Sargrass. He cannot quite engage Adversary #4.

Tishe' is not blinded by the spell cast by Adversary #3. In return, she moves and casts the same spell at two of her opponents. The glittering mica dust settles over the clothing and weapons of both opponents but she cannot tell whether any other effect has occurred.

Olaf pursues Adversary #1, tumbling to avoid any attacks. Once he closes, the sickle flashes out and trips the heavily armored opponent. An attack as the man falls to the ground cannot penetrate the man's armor and spells.

Trellus calls upon the strength granted by Domi as he moves to close with Adversary #3. His attack hits the mage but barely manages to damage the opponent. If Trellus had to guess, the mage has similar protective magic.

Flea carries the Child farther from the battle between her companions and those who have tried to sieze the Child.

Grymash charges towards Adversary #4 and delivers a mighty blow that completely severs the woman's head from her neck.

One opponent down and three to go.

As the Bloodpack fight, the damp grass where Tishe' had cast her spell begins to wriggle. The first insect launches itself into the air with a gentle hum. Then, as more and more bloodflies erupt from the grass, the hum increases in volume and intensity until it is difficult to think. Other insects are flying in from the surrounding Sargrass, bumping blindly into the 'Pack and their opponents as they seek the moisture created by Tishe' spell. Most cluster on the ground but some begin crawling over Adversary #2.

Adversary #1 realizes that he cannot cast a spell so long as Olaf is close by. He stands, allowing the dwarf another attack. Once he is on his feet, the trident jabs towards Olaf and hits the dwarf.
Attack -- hits AC 30, 10 damage

Adversary #2 manages to ignore the insects crawling all over his body and moves towards Grymash and his fallen companion. The final few feet of movement involve rolling and tumbling along the ground, either to avoid Grymash's axe or to try to remove the insects clinging to his body. Instead of attacking, however, the opponent scoops up the fallen Adversary #4.

Adversary #3 concentrates and doesn't allow Trellus to attack him. Trellus immediately recognizes the spell cast at him ... yet another Dispel Magic. Considering where he is, Trellus could be in for a world of hurt .... Especially since the mage seems to be targeting his boots. After affecting Trellus, the mage flies until he is just above and behind his two companions.

"Eeep," Trellus squeaks as he softly descends into a wet mass of bloodflies. The Sargass native wastes no time in backing out of the area, and hopes the Stoneskin spell works on bites as well as swords. He swings around Yanosh, and takes note of what the treadles are up to.

"They're gonna 'port out," he growls.

A minute ago, Trellus would've loved that. But now, with Grymash doing what he does best, he'd rather keep these dudes around a bit longer.

He casts a spell at the wizard.

Tishe' hears Trellus' words and, judging by the way the group is coming together, he very well could be right. If so, there is little she can do to stop them. But then again, he could be wrong, so her brown eyes flash as she uses the distraction of her enemies to the Bloodpack's advantage and begins another complicated summoning.

Moving farther from the sounds of combat Flea continues to venture through the deep grass until she is in the thickest part (Hide=58, Move Silently=27) before hunkering down.

It's okay...you'll be alright... she croons in a soft low voice. The words are for the egg, but are as much to comfort her as well.

Hugging the large egg close to the dragonstone embedded close to her heart she wonders if the 'child' can transmit some of its magic through her to her companions. If there's anythin' you can do for Gilan... she whispers as she blinks to keep the tears from spilling.

Trellus steps out of the muck and makes his way north. The human cleric then tries to cast a spell upon Adversary #3 but is unable to affect the opponent.

Tishe' remains where she is and begins casting another spell. Adversary #2 has not escaped the swarm of bloodflies and these insects continue to crawl over his body.

Grymash silently roars and hits Adversary #2 once and manages to drop that opponent.

Flea huddles with the Child deep in the grass and tries to summon aid for Gilan from the mysterious object.

Adversary #3 concentrates and begins casting a spell even though Olaf's spell is still suppressing any sound in the area. After what seems like several seconds, the opponent reaches out and grasps Adversary #1. The group of opponents disappears with a magical flash.

[Spellcraft 24]

Trellus watches the wizard silently cast a spell that gets the treadles out. A brief ray of hope keeps his thoughts on a fight.
"Dimension Door," he states, identifying the spell. "Those treadles are still within 800' of us. And since they windwalked in, they can't know the area well enough to have a planned escape hole. So, they're in a clearing nearby, and may be confused."

As soon as his boots allow it, the cleric shoots up into the air and takes a circular look around, starting just south where the wizard was flying on his Gry hunt.

Seeing the last of the adversaries dissappear, Yanosh slumps to the ground. Looking up he looks the 'Pack over. "Everyone else ok?" Tears start to slip from his eyes as he speaks. his thoughts turn to Gil as he speaks. "Another lost. How many must go before......."

"AUUGGHHH!!" bellows Grymash. "WHERE? YOOZ TREADLES RUN FROM GRY ... COWARDS!" His head spins around wildly, trying to get the slightest hint of where they went. He even sniffs the air for the scent of their blood.

Flea hunkers down in the grass sheilding the egg-child with her body. All the rogue's senses are on high alert, and she does not move an inch as she strains to see through the high grass.

Trellus activates his boots again and rises into the air to reconnoitre. The human cleric looks to the south and spots a pair of people nearly 900 feet to the south, back along the path that the adversaries approached, that could be the two opponents who were still standing. They look to be in a clear spot that they might have noticed from the air.

If he chooses, Trellus could fly that distance in less than a minute. But he would arrive alone, without his companions, and he suspects how that encounter may end. Maybe Grymash could run there almost as quickly, but the others?

Yanosh and Grymash are coming to grips with the end of the combat, both the loss of their companion and the escape of two, or possibly three, of the assailants.

The immediate problem for the Bloodpack is the gathering swarm of bloodflies and other insects that have been attracted by the water created by Tishe' spell. The swarm is still clustered on and over the damp, mucky area but some have followed Trellus into the air where they bounce off his stout boots. It is only a matter of time before insects start looking for other sources of moisture. And at least one of the Bloodpack is covered with sweat and blood.

Flea peers out from her hiding spot and sees that the adversaries are gone and her companions are standing down from the combat. Gradually, the refugees from Rattledam are also returning from whereever they hid during the fight.

Do the Bloodpack intend to resume the fight? Or, turn back towards Oddholme and the task put to them by the God of Life and Death?

Spotting the two treadles, Trellus' mind whirls as he tries to decide what to do.
--treadles, Child, Gilan, bloodflies, refugees, Gry's gonna get tired in a sec....LIGHT!--

The cleric descends, avoiding the congregating bloodflies.
"Let's get out of here," he tells the pack. "We gotta get the Child and the refugees to OddHolme. That's the first thread. We gotta weave it."

Trellus is very obviously not looking at the enormous carcass occupying the middle of the field.

"Flea," he calls out. "We're going. When Gry warps down, he's gonna want the Child, so stick close."

The cleric hustles to get folks moving in a detour around the bugs and bodies, throwing himself into the task.
