Olaf puts away his pebble, concealing it within his haversack. Breathing a sigh a relief, he quickly pulls out an extra shirt, wiping down his face and wound, trying to keep himself free of the bloodflies. "That was too close," he mutters, mostly to himself.
Thinking of Gilan, and hoping to see the shifter alive again, Olaf moves to the large body, and severs from it a small chunk of flesh, which he wraps in his headband, then stows. "I'm thinkin' we can't be carrying Gilan, but we gotta have a link with t' spirit. No disrespect meant."
He then moves forward, keeping near Gry.

Flea AC 21+1, 67 HP--Blinking, Hasted, +4 Dodge vs Giants Thursday August 6th, 2009 9:51:07 PM
Flea hears Trellus call out, and after making sure that the coast is clear, she threads her way through the tall grass and back towards the 'pack. The rogue sends out a 'heart touch' via the stone embedded in her chest.
"Coming!" she announces as she starts to pick up the pace. "I'm coming with the child!"
Making Tracks (DM JohnP) Thursday August 6th, 2009 11:14:29 PM
Trellus decides that the Bloodpack should be resuming their trek towards Oddholme, guarding the refugees and taking the Child to where Gargul had intended for it to go. The human cleric descends from the air and calls the others to prepare to move out. If they judged things correctly, the Bloodpack should reach Oddholme later this day.
Olaf returns to the others and makes his way to where Gilan lies upon the grass. Fortunately, his body hasn't yet been attacked by the flies and insects so Olaf is able to begin preparing to move his companion. While he is doing this, some of the refugees come up to assist and it's not long before the druid's body can be placed upon one of the grass boats for the trek to Oddholme.
Flea bounds out of the grass, bearing the Child towards where Grymash is panting and heaving with the exertion of unleashing his rage upon the opponents. Despite his disappointment, the half-orc managed to down one of the two heavily armored opponents. While she waits, the four children approach and wait with her for the Child's Bearer to resume the burden.
Finally, after these acts, the Bloodpack and the refugees are ready to trek through the Sargrass. The trip is now more somber than it was before, following the death of Gilan while protecting the Child. What anticipation the 'Pack had for reaching their home is now muted. Besides the work of getting all of the refugees settled, they now have to petition the God of Life and Death on Gilan's behalf. No one quite knows how Gargul will respond to their petition.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Finally, an hour or so before sunset, the Bloodpack pass through the mysterious magical barrier that shields Oddholme from both mundane and magical observation. As the refugees pass through the barrier, each pauses for a moment before being pushed aside by the people following. Each of them seems to take a moment to absorb what will become their new home.
As they approach, the Bloodpack notice someone outside of Oddholme waving to them. Once they are close enough, Murdock and Ayreon can be identifed. Both of the caretakers of Oddholme are waving even while they are peering at the crowd of people following the Bloodpack.

Tishe' is tired. Very tired. And so numbly goes about the business of consolidating the refugees and moving out to OddHolme. Interested in who these adversaries were, Tishe' collects the one warriors sword (once the Grease is gone) and then moves out.
Even with Murdock and Aeryon waving as they approach Rattledam, the brown-haired woman has little energy to wave back. Her mind is occupied with the mystery of the Adversaries. Her heart is breaking with the death of Gilan. And her body is worn out from battle and walking under the harsh Sargrass sun.

Arrival at Oddholme (DM JohnP) Friday August 7th, 2009 11:07:57 PM
The Bloodpack stagger up to the entrance of Oddholme, the refugees straggling behind them. Murdock and Ayreon watch them with interested expressions on their faces.
"Looks like you have some news," Ayreon asks as the first of the Bloodpack come close.
"Where did they come from?," Murdock asks as he gestures towards the refugees. "Does it have anything to do with the quakes and the rest of it?"
Both of the former members of the Bloodpack wait impatiently for responses. Clearly, they seem to be a little bit lonely or starved for conversation with different people.
"We have some news of our own. Shortly after the worst of the quaking, we found someone out in the grass. Name of Falmar, says he from Hook City. He's just getting back on his feet but you'll probably see him inside."
Ayreon looks around with growing concern. "Hey! Where's Gilan? I don't see him."

Tishe' gives a quick hug to Aeryon and Murdock. She responds to the questions in short sentences. "Yes, we helped start the Great Migration." "These are refugees from Rattledam." "We had earthqakes too."
And then Aeryon asks about Gilan. Tishe' can't make her mouth move, but the tears that well up in her eyes is loud and clear.

Gilan's spirit slowly moves forward to wrap his arms around Tishe' and though he is not sure if she will hear him...most likely not, he whispers into her ear. "Do not worry my flower...it will all be alright." In some ways he hopes that she can hear him, but in others he hopes not...it would be hard to explain his words to her if she questioned them. Funny what things come to the front only after you are beyond acting upon them. With a heavy heart, Olaf walks behind the other members of the 'pack, shouldering the burden of Gilan's lifeless body with the refugees. The somber expression on his face conveys conflicting emotions of pain, fear, and vengeance.
"News, aye," he says in response to the queries of Ayreon and Murdock, "though Trellus be tellin' a better tale n' I can. Seems like some bad'uns are comin' fer the Child. We beat 'em back, but...with loss." He shudders in remembrance of a domed city, falling. "We're not the only ones hurtin'--many o' ta folk o' yer old home be lookin' fer a place to rest. We sorta promised them a place here. Hope that ain't too much o' a burden..." he drifts off awkwardly, apparently realizing he may have overstepped his limited bounds.
Home... (DM StevenVdB) Monday August 10th, 2009 6:16:19 AM
Ayreon gasps as he sees the tears forming in Tishe's eyes. What unworldly powers must the Pack have faced to destroy the Shapeshifter!?
"I can see my brother too has abandoned the Bloodpack. Did he tell you where he was going?"
Ayreon does not wait for an answer for he knows the answer won't be good... sad for the loss of his brother and the death of Gilan the warrior turns around and enters Oddholme.
As Olaf speaks of news and the reason for the refugees to being here Murdock nods.
"All are welcome here!" he says "Welcome to Oddholme. May this dome protect you and your family."
"Come..." Murdock says as he too turns around expecting the Bloodpack and the refugees to follow. Once inside the refugees scatter off into the vast structure looking for a new place to live...
-----------------------------------------------
The Bloodpack however follow into the great dining hall. Gilan's body is carefully laid in the middle of the large table.
"What happened?" Ayreon asks his eyes fixed on his fallen friend.
Slowly the story is told... pain and suffering can be felt through every word that echo's in the vast dining hall as the Pack relives every moment from when they received the Child from the hands of Lord Gargul until the moment where merely four unknown opponents brought the Bloodpack to the brink of destruction... The Pack has successfully brought the Child home but the price has been high...
"Will you face Lord Gargul again to bring Gilan back?" Murdock asks eyeballing every one from the Bloodpack one by one...
Before anyone can answer though, they are interrupted by someone entering from the far side of the room. Falmar stands and hesitates wondering if he is to intrude on the Bloodpack as they mourn their comrade.

Trellus Monday August 10th, 2009 10:46:23 AM
Unable to reflect on the battle - and its results -Trellus has busied himself with tending to the refugees and guiding the group back to OddHolme. Once there, he informs Murdock and Aeyreon in a flat monotone that Rattledam was destroyed by the earthquakes, that the Bloodpack has been expelled from the remains of Rattledam with a death sentence should anyone return, and that these survivors had elected to rebuild at OddHolme.
The blond man nods at Grymash, and the large egg shaped object. "He carries the Child, which we took from Rattledam and now brought here at Gargul's bidding." Trellus stops, swallows convulsively, and tries to look for his next words. He can't find them. "We lost Gilan defending It" is all he can manage.
"Will you face Lord Gargul again to bring Gilan back?" Murdock asks. "Yes", the cleric answers immediately.
The new dude, Falmar, enters. Trellus glances over at him. The cleric wears silver elven chain under a blood red surcoat inlaid with intricate runes in silver thread. The blood red cover on his shield bears an upright silver hammer. The blond human merely nods at Falmar, before returning to gaze at Gilan's body. He's not in much of a welcoming mood at the moment.

Falmar Monday August 10th, 2009 1:47:39 PM
Falmar, nods back at the young Brother with the bright eyes and grim expression. The pain seems out of place, a cloud of darkness that is reflected on everyone in the room. " Pardon my intrusion in this dark hour, but your tale caught my ear. I have been traveling the Grass Wastes hoping to learn of my Mother's family. The trader I was traveling with and his boat were destroyed when we were attacked by a giant Frog thing. I lost track of the days I wandered in the grass, delirious, until I was found and brought to Oddholme." - Falmar looks around at this ragged and bloody group, knowing sometimes silence was more helpful than words. He thinks how regretful this gloom of loss overshadows the good done for the people of the destroyed city, and whatever the Child is. The hard work and effort that these people have displayed should shine forth as a beacon, but for the darkness of loss. Murdock and Aeyreon thought they could help me, but it seems I may be able to help them.

Dressed in the grey robes of a priest of Gargul the Dwarf walks to a far coener of the room. With a uick movement his shield crashes to the floor. Taking his helmet off he drops it as well. Slowly Yanosh removes his armor revealing just how badly he has been wounded. His burn scarred bald head is nothing compared to the mass of cuts that cover his stout body. With a grunt he slumps to the floor. "Ye know I can not ask fer Gil back. 'Tis 'ginst me calling." Silently he closes his eyes. Blood marks his passage through the room and out to the grasslands.

"Oh! 'nosh!" cries Flea at the sight of the badly wounded dwarf. Dashing across the room, Flea takes out her wand and taps the cleric of Gargul several times. (CMW=12, 17, 15, 15 bringing Yanosh to 79). Placing a small hand on the shoulder of the slumping dwarf, Flea peers into his eyes, "in a little while you should feel better."
Flea leaves the fighter for Gargul to his own thoughts as she makes her way over beside Trellus to look over the new comer.
Grass Wastes! she thinks in shock, he called the Sargrass Plains Grass Wastes!! The rogue thinks better than to say what is on her mind to this foreigner, as she remembers that she too once arrived, much like he has... a stranger in a strange land. Literally, right off the boat!
"Furtif Aeanora Flibbertigibbet," announces the rogue, her hands on her slim hips, "but my friends call me Flea." Then, tilting her head to one side, she asks, "you wouldn't happen to know how to fetch folks back from the Shadowlands now would you?" Looking at the angular half-elf, Flea doubts, however, that the fellow is a healer type like Trellus or one with the god of Life and Death, like Gry or Yanosh.
Standing before the newcomer is a female gnome a little taller than 3 ft. Strange, pale blue eyes peer out from a lightly tanned face with a sprinkle of freckles across her nose. Despite a short pointed cap of faded crimson, the rogue's reddish-blonde hair has been bleached almost to the consistancy of straw by the strong plains grass. The broad face with a gap toothed smile makes one think of a child, but light wrinkle lines around the eyes, and an athletically feminine physique reveal an adult gnome of some 40 years.

Olaf looks searchingly at Trellus, and Yanosh, then nods. "I'll be wit ya, Trellus. Gilan's on the business o' ta Wold, an' we best be doin' wha' we can ta make it so. I'm thinkin' Gargul'll hav' a say 'n it, seein' as the whole child n' ta like be part o' his idea." A twinkle lights the pale blue eyes of the scraggly, dirty blonde man with the thin, grizzled beard. "Always did wanna see the underbelly o' the Wold 'nother time, 'sides."
Seeing the newcomer, Olaf steps forward, his bent metal shield and ragged furs belying a deep confidence. "Nice ta' meet ya, Falmar," he says, spitting to the side and stamping his foot twice. "Olafr ta unlucky, some hale me. Figure ya don't know what mess yer steppin' into, but don'cha worry--Trellus'll get it figured out, I'm thinkin'." Sidling up to the gaunt elf, he adds in a casual voice, "Care fer a game o' cards?"
Gilan[HP: -29/141 - AC: 31][wildshape: ][] Tuesday August 11th, 2009 1:50:47 AM
Gilan's spirit had continued to follow the rest of the group into the dome that they called home. As he floated around he had to growl and then shook his head. "They better not let anyone take over my area while I am gone...or I will haunt them for the rest of their lives and beyond." He doubts that any of them would allow it, but still it was his private sanctuary and he wanted to keep it that way.
Following them the rest of the way inside, he stops to look over the newest arrival and when he offers help...Gilan snorts. Not because he does not think he can do it, but because the man has no idea what he is getting into. Listening intently to the group discuss him he nods his head and then watches Yanosh move off. He had no problems with the man's decision and respected him for it.

Welcome Falmar... (DM StevenVdB) Tuesday August 11th, 2009 10:35:03 AM
Ayreon and Murdock quietly listen to the stories told by our brave warriors. Now and then they shake their head or a light sigh can be heard. Other than that there are but Trellus's monotone words as he explains what happened.
Then Falmar walks in. Trellus glances at him and merely nods... Gazing over at Gilan's mutilated body the Cleric isn't at all in a welcoming mood...
Falmar senses the somber thoughts that seem to reflect on everyone in this room. Explaining how he ended up here the Half-Elf looks around at the ragged bloody group... while he seemed to have come here for help perhaps he will do better helping out the Pack... that is... IF he is accepted!
Overcome with pain and unwilling to petition for Gilan's return Yanosh throws down his gear and slumps out of the dining hall leaving a trail of dwarf blood on the floor... luckily Flea jumps up at the sight of the badly injured dwarf and takes out her wand healing Yanosh of most of his wounds.
Flea is shocked though as this new guy speaks of the Sargrass as Grass Wastes... however she did not think of the Plains so well when she first joined the Pack... back then it wasn't even called the Bloodpack yet... things have changed much since then. Not alone did they all swear the oath to protect the Sargrass they have lived many adventures and have grown accustomed to life on the Sargrass Plains... remembering all this she decides not to speak a harsh word with Falmar and give him the benefit of the doubt for now and introduces herself...
Olaf immediately steps forward to meet the Half-Elf wondering if he actually knows what mess he is sticking his nose into... being part of the Bloodpack isn't at all that pretty... they are called BLOODpack for something and they have all brought honor to that name. All have bled and all have shed the same reddish priceless liquid...
And then there's the matter of Gilan... his corpse laid on the table and encircled by his friends. Worried that some of the newcomers might find a liking in his private sanctuary he decides to haunt them all should they invade his property.
To Murdock's question Trellus rapidly answers yes and he is followed by Olaf almost immediately. Yanosh is known to refuse to try and change the course of life and death... but what about the others?
"Where would be the best place to prey Lord Gargul for this favor?" Murdock questions Trellus hoping the Cleric has an idea...
Gilan[HP: -29/141 - AC: 31][wildshape: ][] Tuesday August 11th, 2009 9:15:21 PM
Settling upon the table near his own body he shakes his head and looks around the area. He can still hear the sound of Woldsblood as it flows and the pull is still there as well. Hope Gargul is not mad that I have not traveled to him yet. Sighing he was not really ready to travel to the Lands of Rest, though if that was to be his fate...he guesses that he will go. It would be hard as he still felt a physical attachment to this realm and he wondered if everyone that died felt the same way. This was his first time being dead and to be honest, he had not known what to expect.

Flea AC 21+1, 50/67 HP Tuesday August 11th, 2009 10:27:03 PM
"Well?" says Flea expectantly, waiting for the newcomer to respond.
"Well?" she says, raising her arms up and flapping them about as she turns to Trellus,
"Well?" she continues, positioning herself in front of Gry,
"Well?, the rogue gestures towards the mortal remains of the druid, Gilan. "What are we going to do for him?" she asks, continuing, "are we gonna' just let him go or are we gonna get his spirit back into his body?"
Flea remembers that when the party lost a member in combat in the past, it always seemed like one of Gargul's minions seemed to find the 'pack in order to show the way to the lord of life and death...sort of like an escort to the Shadowlands. The rogue wasn't so sure that was the way things were going to happen this time. The grey-eyed one didn't seem to be too happy with the pack most times, though he had entrusted the egg-child to the group, and the party had kept this child safe...so far. They still had to get the child to the manfri, though. But, it wasn't going to happen without Gilan. Flea was sure of that. No matter how many newcomers were sent to join the Bloodpack.
Remembering the underground chamber so close to the Woldsblood Flea suggests, "lets go down in the tunnels under Oddholme, where the Woldsblood runs close. Lets bring Gilan, and the child."
Flea casts an eye at the half-elf, "this isn't for the faint hearted. You sure you want to join Bloodpack?"
Falmar Tuesday August 11th, 2009 11:30:52 PM
Falmar sees the frustration in the small one's concern.
" If you wish, I would be be honored to help carry your friend to this underground chamber. Regrettably I do not possess any skills that could bring him back." " That path is closed to me now......"
The god of life and death ! This seems to be a challenge to be met ! I know I can meet this challenge ! This Child, an egg ? what will it become ? Can it hear us ? Will it be feathered ? Scaled ? Something else ?
Falmar says in draconic Highlight to display spoiler: { Moxy come to me }
Falmar reaches in his pocket and pulls out a small piece of meat and holds it to his shoulder. From the doorway a raven flies in and lands upon Falmar's shoulder and starts to consume his meal. Messily wiping his beak on Falmar's robe. He reaches up and scratches the bird's neck as it bends it's head for the attention.
Famar is currently dressed in a dark grey robe, and is not carrying anything, he has a silver symbol of crossed swords hanging from his neck. He has reddish shoulder length straight hair and a sparse full beard. Slightly almond shaped eyes and slightly pointed ears. He's obviouly spent a lot of time in the sun as his shin is dark and weathered.
Trellus Wednesday August 12th, 2009 8:31:24 AM
Trellus sighs as Flea's impulsive desire to do something breaks through his reverie. "OK, OK, warp down," he replies tiredly.
Rubbing the back of his neck, the blond man stares at Gilan. "Rattledam was right on top of the Woldsblood," he answers the gnome. "I don't think we are. We might need to go to the Catacombs and just buy the scroll...I'm pretty sure I could weave the pick...or The Chamber. That might work."
Trellus' words trail off, and then he looks over at Grymash. "Gry, will the Child help us with Gilan? " he asks. "Where does it want to go now?"
The Departure of Gilan... (DM StevenVdB) Wednesday August 12th, 2009 12:04:16 PM Gilan can feel the pull of the Woldsblood... who knows how Gargul will think of him refusing to come to His realm...
Flea gets frustrated by the Pack's indecisiveness!
She recalls that ever when a Bloodpack member came to the brink of death a servant of Gargul found his way to them... so far however no one has shown himself... Perhaps Flea's right... Even though there is no large pool of Woldsblood beneath Oddholme, the Powers were strongly present in that central portal chamber. Maybe Gargul himself or a servant of his will listen there?!
Falmar offers to help carrying Gilan's remains to this underground chamber Flea speaks of. It's hard for the Half-Elf to hide his curiosity! Meeting the God of Life and Death sure sounds interesting! And what about this Egg? This Child? Has he ever heard of Manfri?!? There's so much for Falmar to learn... he sure came to the right place to find out about everything... With the Pack it usually doesn't take long to get in trouble...
Trellus regains his wits and knows he might have to buy a Scroll in the catacombs... something like Raise Dead or Resurrection... this usually opens up a gate to wherever Gargul is receiving petitioners...
---------------------------------
A pulsating beat calls for Gilan... like a heartbeat...
Slowly his spirit floats away from the table... away from his mortal remains... The Druid can no longer resist to the Call...
He has earned his place...
Flea senses a light breeze as Gilan passes the Gnome and words seem to come to her ...
"Do not worry my flower...
Yanosh and Grymash can sense the presence of their God... they can feel His presence strongest exactly where Flea has felt the breeze going...
Slowly tiny red tendrils spout from the floor... they reach up to something...
Gilan can not resist floating towards these little crawling fingers and soon they begin to twirl around his ankles... more tendrils appear and slowly Gilan's legs are entangled up to his knees!! Terrifying but none the less Gilan feels entirely at peace... he senses this is good... his spirit is embraced and will be guided towards the Lands of Rest... Yes this feels right...
The rest of the Bloodpack can see the tendrils grappling up to something that is not there... slowly is seems as if they are following the structure of a human being...
By the time they all realize what is unfolding in front of their eyes Gilan is completely entangled... in front of the Pack a bloody red figure with the same posture as Gilan stands and smiles...
Then a voice calls out only to Gilan...
"COME... WHY ARE YOU WAITING... YOUR PLACE IS HERE IN MY REALM NOW...

Olaf growls, muttering in a low tone, "He ain't yers yet." Louder, he calls to his 'packmates, "Come on--we ain't just gonna let Gilan go!?" With that, he surges forward, seeking to grasp onto the floating body, to hold it to this mortal realm.
Grymash Wednesday August 12th, 2009 8:00:14 PM
Grymash kneels with the Child in his arms next to the body of Gilian. He mutters to the Child with a soft-spoken tone ... "Listen and be at peace to the voice of the Father. May he bring peace to us all." He then bows his head in prayer. A prayer asking that Gargul's will be done, and petitioning the soul of Gilian be allowed to postpone his trip into the Lands of Rest since he gave his life in defense of the Child.

Gilan watches for a few more seconds and then he is pulled from his spot. Though he is not surprised he bows his head. He turns ever so slowly his head still bowed and nods. "I am sorry Lord Gargul...I have taken too long. I had only meant to see the child to safety before my crossing." Looking back to his friends and pack he smiles. It is time for him to leave, though he can tell that some wish him to stay. If it is Lord Gargul's will than he will be allowed to come back...but for now, he has waited too long for the crossing.

Falmar watches in amazement at the sight before him. He takes a step back at the sight of the blood formed spirit of their friend. He reaches up and grasps the symbol at his neck and begins a silent prayer....
The will of a god and the needs of his chosen.... should their efforts not both benefit each other ? Yet....this is something that cannot be fought....this struggle must be left to faith......Hopefully their Faith is unwavering...
Trellus Thursday August 13th, 2009 8:47:14 AM
Seeing the form of his best friend, Trellus raises his hand both in greeting and farewell. Tears flow down his face as the figure smiles.
Flea and Olaf race to fight Gargul for Gilan's spirit. Trellus chokes back a sob. "Dudes," he pleads softly. "You can't.....that's not how it works...don't."
When its over, Trellus will gather up some of the gold from the last few fights and head to the Catacombs.

Eyes open and the cleric sees what is happening. Rising he moves to Flea. Taking her in his arms the Dwarf craddles her softly, almost lovingly. "Be at ease Flea. The Father is here and he claims Gilian now. None can stand against his call." He holds her tight, yet comforting. "I wish it was me who lays there on that table. Once again I have failed my 'Pack and my God." Tears slide down his rugged ashen colored face.

The Departure of Gilan... (DM StevenVdB) d20=6 ; d20=7 ; Thursday August 13th, 2009 11:19:13 AM Gilan understands and accepts that his time has come... smiling at his friends he knows that should Lord Gargul be lenient he might return when properly called for... for now he has waited too long...
Grymash softly speaks to the Child. Then he bows and prays for Gargul's will to be done... and with it he petitions the soul of Gilan to be allowed to stay... after all he gave his life in defense of the Child!
Unwilling to see Gilan depart GilanOlaf surges forward to grasp the floating body... so does Flea! She throws herself at the red-wrapped figure!!
Falmar watches in amazement at the sight before him... he steps back at the sight of the blood and grasps for his holy symbol around his neck...
How can it be two hardened warriors from the Bloodpack seem to have forgotten the awesome power the Woldsblood holds!!! Even being close to Woldsblood poses a great threat to all, touching it would be devastating to the least!! Never before did either of them actually touch the true essence of Power!!!
Olaf and Flea both make a Will Save DC20 (standard DC15 increased by 5 for the amount of blood they are exposed to!!)
Upon failure to resist the awesome power of Woldsblood the person's soul is pulled partly from its body. This dazes the person for 1d20 minutes and inflicts 1d20 wisdom damage (make these rolls yourself if you have failed the Will Save).
Upon success the person is hurled back by an unseen force.
Yanosh rushes to Flea and takes the Gnome in his hands...
Trellus urges everyone to remain calm... this is not the way it works... he's convinced he can get a Scroll in the Catacombs that will bring Gilan back... But maybe it won't come to this...
---------------------------------------
A split second after Flea and Olaf tried to grab hold of Gilan the Woldsblood entwining Gilan shudders.. the Druid senses a Power beyond imagination is taking control over his soul and then a voice is heard through Gilan's mouth...
"STOP!!!
Why then are you fighting this brave soul's departure? Has he not deserved his place among the great Warriors of the Lands of Rest?! Has he not deserved his peace? He has served our Lord well and He has opened His arms to him...
You" he points at Grymash"You Pray for your Lord... you served him well... yet petition for this Souls return... Why?"
"And what makes you two worthy of touching the Woldsblood... who can be foolish enough to try to grab hold of it... and more... why?!"
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Thursday August 13th, 2009 11:29:41 AM
Weeping quietly in a corner, the woman wearing greens and tans looks like a guildswoman of modest means. She is short for a human, her shoulder-length wavy brown hair is in a tail pulled away from her rather plain face and the light brown skin does nothing to craft a striking appearance. Not the kind of face or body to give anything more than a passing glance. Her equipment, however, is that of an adventurer: a staff, crossbow, and small horned toad peek around and from beneath the green cloak. Perhaps it is the red sash, the red ring on her left ring finger, or the image of Gargul's Eye on the back of her right hand. Or perhaps it is those brown eyes, how they seem to dance with warmth and carefully bridled enthusiasm, straining to get out and see the Wold. Yes, this one is more than what she seems.
The actions of her companions go unnoticed, and the Woldsblood and Voice coming from Gilan only makes her turn away and shiver as if frightened.

Trellus inwardly winces as Olaf and Flea are introduced to Woldsblood, and seemingly wake Lord Gargul, or maybe a minion, in the process.
Well, its a technique, he silently allows.
The man approaches and takes a knee before the figure. "Forgive us Lord. We did not know this was Woldsblood. We mourn for our lost comrade, and we feel his work, your work, is unfinished. Can he not do more good for you here, guarding this child?"

Olaf bowls over backwards, mentally repelled by the Woldsblood. He shakes his head to clear it, bemused at his second inadvertent encounter with the fel liquid. The Departure of Gilan... (DM StevenVdB) Sunday August 16th, 2009 3:34:39 AM
Tishe' quietly weeps in a corner not watching what is unfolding in the dining hall... the voice only makes her shiver as if frightened...
Flea is knocked on her keister and is dazed for 11 minutes... Flea can not act normally and can't make any actions during this period... What is further unfolding will have to be explained afterwards to her...
Olaf too is repelled yet his powerful will keeps him on his feet... never the less a second encounter with the Woldsblood is probably not wise...
Listening to this obviously powerful blood covered soul Falmar wonders who is truly speaking... "our Lord"... so probably not Gargul himself is speaking through Gilan?! ... never the less he doesn't sound too nice at the moment...
Trellus winces as Olaf and Flea throw themselves upon the Woldsblood... kneeling before the figure he speaks...
Grymash continues praying in silence holding the Child close...
Yanosh bows before the presence of his God
-----------------------------------
"Why do you mourn!? He did well! You should be proud!! "
Then Trellus reminds Him of the work that remains unfinished... perhaps Gilan can do more good for Gargul here... guarding the Child...
"There will always be others to complete His work... there will always be others that will come to Him in the Lands of Rest... "
As Yanosh stands ready to be taken to the Shadowlands the bloody figure frowns...
"Lord Gargul has not called for you... yet..."
Then the bloody one sees Falmar making a step towards the doorway...
"You fear Lord Gargul?!?"
"Let's hear what our departing one has to say... Speak brave Gilan..." The face of the Blood covered soul switches back to that of Gilan staring at his friends...
Grymash Sunday August 16th, 2009 4:22:08 PM "I do not mourn that it was Gilan's time. I am in fact proud that he has earned his place in the Lands of Rest and I praise you in your infinite wisdom. However, my pack suffers a loss with your gain of such a soul. I ask only for your help in protecting the Child. Gilan is a fierce warrior and will serve you well in helping protect the Child. I only ask that you allow him to continue his work. Nothing more, Master."
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Monday August 17th, 2009 8:29:08 AM
The words of the Gray Lord blow through Tishe' like a fresh morning breeze. Why is she crying? By his nature and the nature of the Wold, Gilan has lived and died as he should. The most fitting memorial would be to act in the druidic brotherdhood they both share. And besides, crying is so girlish!
Renewed purpose dries Tishe's tears, and, resolute, she stands to face the Lord of Life and Death and the soul of Gilan. A finger traces the Eye Tattoo that Gargul placed on her hand at thier last meeting. "Yes. I am proud to have run in this pack who has treasured both life and death."
The brown eyes glisten as Tishe' holds herself as tall as her short human frame allows.

And so, he waits.

Falmar stops, squares his shoulders, cocks his head , and awaits Gilan's response.

Yanosh looks at the Woldsblood covered Gil. "We are mere mortals. We greive the lose of a friend but are proud of him and what he has done. Your will be done Lord Gargul."
Gilan Monday August 17th, 2009 7:39:49 PM
Gilan tilts his head to the side as control is given back to him and he thinks it over slowly. Finally he shakes his head. "Noone will take my place or offer to give their lives for mine. We made that mistake once before when we stood before Lord Gargul." He graces each with a smile and though he would like to, their are no tears.
This gives him further time to think over his next words and try not to offend the god as he did last time. "I died doing what the Lord Gargul asked of all of us. My time here maybe at an end and if I am to cross over, I do it willingly. If Lord Gargul on the other hand decides that I still have work to do here for him...than I would willingly come back to help further." He had learned that despite what he or anyone else wants, he would bow to the wishes of Lord Gargul.
Gargul's Bargain (DM JohnP) Monday August 17th, 2009 11:13:49 PM
The God of Death and Life listens as his clerics speak for the deceased shifter, then again as Gilan himself speaks. Some others speak, as well, but most of rest of the 'Pack are silent before Gargul. After waht could be either an instant or an eternity, Gargul responds.
"'Tis true that you fell doing my bidding. This task is important, but my involvement is not central to the task given to you by Another. I did it merely to spite Ga'al who would seize control of my domain."
"Rightly, none of your companions have offered to take your place. The request to return to the Living Wold is not light. Nor should it be taken lightly."
Gargul motions and the Woldsblood pools between himself and Gilan. The magical substance shifts and moves, seeming like a portal to a distant place one moment and in the next moment, becoming a path to beside the only God who is both of the Wold and Testing. Gargul now directly addresses Gilan.
"So, you offer to perform a task for me, do you? Would you accept that task blindly? Would your companions agree to aid you? Or do you wish to bargain?"
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Tuesday August 18th, 2009 8:58:16 AM
Tishe' keeps her composure, but is sure that these last words are another test of the Gray Lord. "What have we learned in the Life that you offer if we accept any task blindly?", she asks rhetorically. "The weave of the tapestry is obscured from the Noble Races, and do not know where our thread fits in to the warp and weft around us. We can only act as best we can as long as we can in this LIfe, before recieveing our reward in the Lands on the other side of the Woldsblood."
Then Tishe' does the bravest thing she has ever done in her life, looking fully upon the Being that is around Gilan. "Great Gray Lord, I have learned that it is noble to stand with your pack. If Gilan takes your offer, I will help him to complete his task. I would, however, humbly ask that you reveal that task to us before Gilan decides."

Trellus Tuesday August 18th, 2009 9:26:02 AM
Trellus' mouth sets as he hears the words of Gargul's servant. another test ....well, we're used to that by now....
"I will aid Gilan", he replies firmly.
Falmar Tuesday August 18th, 2009 11:04:56 AM
Falmar steps forward, glances around the room, seeing the great will pulling all of these companions together for a seemingly worth cause.....
"Lord Gargul, IF Gilan accepts the task set before him, and the rest of the pack would have me, I will agree to aid Gilan in his task..
Falmar silently hopes he's done the right thing...if not , well it wouldn't be the first time....
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Tuesday August 18th, 2009 1:58:22 PM
It seems only now that the short, brown haired female human notices Falmar. Her quick appraisal takes in the weathered appearance, the raven on the half-elfs shoulder, and the symbol of Domi on his chest.
Tishe' nods in acceptance. Trellus is a cleric of Domi, she thinks, I'm sure he'll know this strangers mettle.
Gilan Tuesday August 18th, 2009 10:16:21 PM
Gilan shakes his head after Gargul has spoken and he has taken a little time to think it over. "I would perform a task for you and in your name, but I cannot do so blindly as that would put my pack in danger if they should choose to aid me. If would rather have the chance at success in whatever task it is that you would ask of me and return to you knowing that I have either done my best or succeeded. I would not want to return to you with the knowledge that my haste and stupidity caused others to die." Everyone has a set time and place to die, but that process can be accelerated if you make stupid choices and he does not want to make them anymore.
"I cannot speak for the rest of my pack as to their want to help out in a task...it is a choice that they must make on their own." Smiling he shakes his head and then gives a slight smile. "As for a bargain...I have nothing to bargain with Lord Gargul."
Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Tuesday August 18th, 2009 10:32:54 PM
Olaf nods at the words of his companions, seemingly at peace with their choices to commit the pack to do Gargul's bidding. Keeping his gaze averted from the might of the God before them, he adds, "I be aidin' ya Gilan, if ya be wantin' ta do yer task. I'd do it fer a friend n' companion, nought for else, I'm thinkin'."
He stamps his feet on the ground, nervously, but adds nothing more.
Gargul's Offer (DM JohnP) Tuesday August 18th, 2009 11:15:14 PM
The God of Death and Life listens and weighs the responses proffered by Gilan and his companions. The only one who didn't speak are Flea and Grymash, who has seemingly spoken his mind and has nothing else to say. It seems that even a God of the Wold can be forgetful - Gargul looks towards Flea and snaps his fingers. The gnome finds sensation returning to her body and her tongue loosens in her mouth.
"My tasks, since I have several rather than one, shall not be onerous or objectionable. Although they do carry a risk of returning once more to my Domain."
"First, complete the duty that I set before you. The Child sheltered for much time within the Woldsblood that flows from my realm to this land and I would see the Child come of age. And stymie the efforts of Ga'al, too, who south to control me and usurp my realm."
"Second, you will hunt down the servants of Ga'al here in the south. In fact, you might receive some satisfaction from that."
Gargul smiles, but not a friendly gentle smile such as expected from Alemi or the forthright, open smile of Domi. The smile on the face of the God of Death and Life promises slow, deliberate retribution for the clerics and servants of the God that sought to control and displace Gargul.
"Third, you shall seek out and combat those here in the South who practice the arts of necromancy. You have already met some of these."
Gargul now looks around at the Bloodpack before speaking. His gaze passes quickly over each person but the God's attention is focused intensely on everyone. Certainly, now does not seem to be the time to be flippant or to shave the truth.
"The last is not a task. I want you to cast off the mark of another, lesser being. Instead, you shall wear my mark. You shall not miss the tokens given to some of you by the dragon and all of you may come to value my mark."
Gargul waits, perhaps impatiently, for a response from each and everyone of the Bloodpack.
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Wednesday August 19th, 2009 8:23:08 AM
As the Lord of Life and Death makes not one task, but several, Tishe' nods to herself that she had wisdome enough to ask. And then the wavy brown hair is nodding again in time to the lists, in full hearted agreement to the tasks. That is, until Gargul gets to the last matter.
Throw off the mark of a lesser being?, wonders the mystic in fear. I would never reject Mother and Father Wold! But that thought doesn't sound quite right to her. But then it hits her as she brings a hand up to adjust her tunic and touches... "the Dragon's Tears", she says aloud.
So much of my identity, of me has been since the Dragon's Tear came to us, thinks Tishe', and it has prooved a lifesaver time and again. And bound to still yet another being, one that inspires reverence and not a little fear instead of the safety I want to find? Can I do it?
Fears and worries fly across the young woman's face before finally settling on a decision. "Yes, I can give up the Dragon's Tear for Gilan, and accept the Gray Lord's mark a second time. The Tear as a tool is but a tool, and the Tear as a gift will always be in my memory."

Trellus listens carefully to the list of tasks.
"I agree to shelter the Child, although we don't know where that shelter is yet," he points out.
"I agree to hunt down the servants of Ga'al here in the southern continent." and weave extremely unpleasant picks on them when I do, he adds to himself.
"I agree shall seek out and combat those here in the southern continent who practice the arts of necromancy"
The last one has the blond cleric's full attention. "I will agree to cast off this token given me by the dragon," he replies carefully, tapping his chest. "But I cannot forswear my Lord, Domi."
Falmar Wednesday August 19th, 2009 6:25:43 PM
Falmar thinks to himself for some time and answers Gargul.
" The enemy of my enemy is my friend. If by protecting the Child I can cause Ga'al to loose power in the South. This Domi will smile upon...This I accept. even without Ga'al's influence, this Child is obviously important and would need a protector....until it can protect itself.... with claws ? Talons, teeth ? horns ?...has the egg changed color ?..... right.....Gargul...
"Hunting the servants of Ga'al..and destroying necromancers? ....those who worship he who opposes Domi? ,Those who would subvert life and death to their own ends ? ... These I will also do." [i] I would do these things anyway... these abominations that feed upon the weak... Maybe I shouldn't have left all my stuff in the other room.....
" I do not wear the mark of a lesser being " Falmar touches the swords at his heck and smiles a wide shiny grin... [b]" but I will accept your mark, if it will help to bring positive change to the South and the people I have seen around me.
Falmar awaits his Fate along with everyone else in the room......
Grymash Wednesday August 19th, 2009 7:33:12 PM "As you wish, my Lord. For you I live and die, my Lord Gargul." Grymash continues to kneel before his god.
Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Wednesday August 19th, 2009 8:17:15 PM
Still keeping himself turned somewhat away from the imposing presence of the God of Death, Olaf nods vaguely as Gargul makes his demands known. "Aye, aye, and aye. I'll be seein' this child ta safety, ne'er you worry. Same with those that stood in our way 'fore--and I'm figurin' those be the none-to-bright servants of Ga'al or somesuch. Necromancy ain't my way either, though the cold of the Ice Vein sometimes does seem a fine place fer those types ta lurk."
However, at the lord of death's final pronouncement, Olaf shirks back. He shakes his head slightly, then, looking inward, sighs. "Wearin' yer mark. Aye. I'll do it." With that he spits to the side, his bargain complete.
Gilan Wednesday August 19th, 2009 8:29:38 PM
Gilan continues to listen to Gargul as he tells what it is that he would request of them. The others speak first and that is something he wanted for his pack would have the most to lose. As most of them agree to do what it is that Lord Gargul asks, Gilan nods his head.
"I too agree to all the tasks that you have set before us. Ga'al has already made an enemy of me anyways with the attack upon my pack. Necromancers deal with the dead and the exhistance of undead is an abomination to nature as well as to you." He also falters as the idea of casting off the blessing of a lesser being is made and his mouth goes dry. Would Gargul consider Mother and Father to be lesser beings? He does not think so, so it would have to be the tear that those oldest wear and he did mention dragon.
"I will give up the tear that I now wear if that is your wish. Wearing your mark will add weight to my dislike of those things that give offense to nature as well." His spirit form bows to Lord Gargul out of respect and maybe just a hint of fear...but mostly out of respect. Gargul had asked nothing that he would not have agreed to in the beginning. In fact, if it had not been for his pack having to agree as well...he would have agreed to these conditions without actually hearing them.
Gargul's Acceptance (DM JohnP) Wednesday August 19th, 2009 11:22:28 PM "So be it. Two of your fellows have not yet spoken and they should so soon. However, my attention is needed elsewhere."
Gargul glances around at the Bloodpack before making a sweeping gesture that encompasses all of them, even Yanosh and Flea. When the motion is complete, the older members of the Bloodpack feel a brief ... tug is the best description ... on their chests where the Dragon's Tears resided. This immediately followed by an intense cold sensation that numbs the flesh of every member of the Bloodpack.
Gargul then turns towards Gilan, staring down at the shifter before speaking.
"Go back. Back to your companions. Back to your struggles. Try not to return here since I may not have tasks suitable for you and yours when that time comes."
With that, Gargul reaches down and shoves Gilan violently towards his companions. Somehow, during the stumbling recovery from the God's push, Gilan gains substance and vitality until a living, breathing man catches his balance beside the rest of the Bloodpack. During the brief instant while their attention was on Gilan, both Gargul and the streams and eddies of Woldsblood disappeared back to the God's domain.
When the 'Pack take a moment, the others immediately notice something different about Gilan. Where the shifter's hair was once unremarkable, Gilan now has a tapering white streak running back from the front of his scalp to nearly the nape of his neck. The streak is just slightly to one side of centre, just enough to be noticeable but not so much as to be laughable. When Gilan notices their attention, he reaches up but his fingers can detect no difference from when he last did this.
Does anyone wish to examine their chests where the Dragon's Tear once rested?
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Thursday August 20th, 2009 9:34:11 AM "So Be It." says the Gray Lord, and Tishe' feels the tug and coldness infusing her chest.
Tishe' has never understood other peoples reasons for modesty, and as this curious puzzle of what has happened is easily solved, the mystic's curiosity gets the better of her. Ripping her tunic completely over her head, she now stares in facination at the skin between her breasts.

Trellus d20+11=29 ; Thursday August 20th, 2009 11:03:35 AM
Trellus shivers involuntarily as the cold sensation raises his skin. His hand strays to his chest, tapping the metal of his armor, but for the moment, he's got a more pressing concern.
The cleric quickly crosses to catch and steady Gilan. "Gil?" he asks, holdling and inspecting his friend. "You shady?" [Heal check 29]
Trellus gives Tishe a quick glance. She's pulled this 'look at these' stunt so many times he's pretty much immune to it, but he's quite curious about what Gargul has done to them now.

Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Thursday August 20th, 2009 6:22:56 PM
An uncontrollable shiver runs through Olaf's body. The deep, penetrating cold of the Vein pales in comparison to the feeling of Gargul's touch, however light. But then, it passes, and only memories of the chill remain.
Taking stock, he looks up, and sees Gilan, returned to life, the stresses apparent in the changes to the shifter. Then, Olaf's pale face turns beet red at Tishe's sudden disrobing. He quickly looks at the ground. Seeing the others checking their chests, Olaf puzzles about it, but waits for now.
Gilan Thursday August 20th, 2009 9:03:09 PM
Gilan allows Trellus to steady him and he gives an easy smile. "For a guy that just returned from the dead and gotten a blessing from Gargul....shady." His hand comes up to run through his hair that has fallen loose from the binding that usually keeps it bound. He cannot figure out why his packmates stared at him for a few minutes, so he frowns. "What...I got something on my face?" The transition back to the living did not actually allow him to feel the touch of Gargul as the gem was replaced.
Glancing around he turns beet red when he notices Tishe' remove her shirt and has to turn his head. Unfortunately, he has gotten a little crush on her for awhile but has never had the guts to tell her so...well that was till he was dead.
The Marks of Gargul (DM JohnP) Thursday August 20th, 2009 11:13:29 PM
When Tishe' and the others examine themselves, they discover two things. The older members of the Bloodpack find that the Dragon's Tear has been removed, as they suspected, and they can find it inside their clothing. What was once embedded into their flesh now seems to be a pin or brooch, so that they can still show their gratitude or allegiance.
More importantly, everyone finds a hard and smooth patch in the skin over their sternums, just below their clavicles. Placed there, the marks left by Gargul could be easily covered by a high-necked garment or, just as easily, revealed by loose fitting upper clothing. Grymash and Yanosh immediately recognize the marks as being the High Woldian glyph used by Gargul - the gray lidless eye. When someone ventures to touch it, they confirm that the mark is hard, smooth and definitely not normal skin and flesh. The raised portion is a darker gray while the centre is paler and, maybe, catching and reflecting the light.
No one can quite identify what materials were used to craft the marks - Yanosh thinks that it looks like opal, a semi-precious stone. Someone else suggest pearl. Gilan thinks that the dark, raised portions might be like the metal enchanted by Fixers using Woldsblood.
Everyone spends some time examining it. And studiously ignoring Tishe' ... at least some of the men, anyway. Evern after they rearrange their clothing, they find that their hands stray to the mark from time to time. Not only is the crafting of the mark a mystery, so are the functions. Perhaps they will learn the effects quickly or they might never learn all the secrets of the marks.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The marks are all well and good. For that matter, so is the resurrection and return of Gilan. There are the tasks put to them by Gargul to accomplish - complete the delivery of the Child; fight the Ga'alians; and, fight the unnamed other group or groups - and no one knows exactly how patient the God of Death and Life is likely to be. And there's the mundane work of settling the refugees from Rattledam.
In fact, that intrudes pretty quickly when Murdock and Ayreon seek them out as they return from the chamber where they performed the ritual that contacted Gargul.
"The refugees need some direction. We've tried our best but some seem to still be waiting for the ones who lead them from Rattledam."
"Hopefuly we'll have enough food but someone will need to start organizing foraging parties and figuring out how to grow or get more food."
"And they need to be told where to go, and not go, within Oddholme. The lot of them won't fill more than a fraction of this place and we don't want them scattered all over."
"Oh ... did we tell you? There's a link to the Catacombs now. Or, maybe there always was. We found while you were out fetching these folks back. It might have been there all along and we just didn't see it. The old, back areas of the dome are spooky that way."
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Friday August 21st, 2009 8:58:59 AM
As facinating as the hard bead of Gargul's Eye is, there is something even more pressing to Tishe': the voice of the returned Gilan. She runs over and gives him a big hug. "Welcome back brother and packmate", she tells him, acknowledging thier kinship as druids and Bloodpack. It takes a moment or two for the unworldly Tishe' to wonder why Gilan and several other packmates are blushing before she notices she hasn't put her tunic back on because of all the excitement.
Far from embarrassed, Tishe' gives Gilan a vexed look and reclothes herself. "We've travelled all over the Wold without a tent between any of us, healed intestines and bones, and have even travelled to the Lands of Rest, and you are uncomfortable with the form the Mother gave me? Seriously? Seriously???"
In a huff, Tishe' takes the opportunity Murdock and Ayreon present by turning her mind to a different kind of problem. "We'll need to make lists of what skills everyone has to determine who should do what sort of work. They will also need to be given temporary quarters to put down thier burdens. I'll do both of those things while someone else decides what to do with the information."
...............
Tishe' moves off to the central forum in the center of Oddholme and does just that. She brings the people together in the forum and then takes a census of family groups, names, and skills. She then asks for families to volunteer for the identified orphans. Finally, she asks Murdock and/or Aryeon to place the families together in sleeping areas, reserving two large rooms for remaining male singles and female singles.

Gilan Friday August 21st, 2009 8:49:54 PM
Gilan touches the out new mark through his grass armor and shakes his head. This would most definitely take some getting use to. When Tishe' nearly tackles him, blindsided as he was not trying to look too closely at her...he staggers back. "It is good to be back as well Tishe'." He hugs her back, very aware of the firm flesh beneath his hands and the burning redness of his face.
Glancing to the others as she speaks he has to clear his throat, partly so he can speak again and partly so that he can try to settle his own nerves. Luckily the subject is able to be changed with the arrival of Murdock and Ayreon. "Need a little help Tishe'?" Either way he falls into step with her to help but the survivors into nice places, plus he wants to go out and see about gathering some more animals.
"I can slip back out into the grass and see if I can find anymore prairie pigs to bring in and maybe some more birds." Glancing to Tishe' he sighs and then thinks over the layout of the dome for a few seconds. "There was a large open room that should work to starts some fields in and it is far enough from the living area to be useful." Once they pretty much have everyone settled, he fidgets nervously as he tries to work up the courage to speak plainly to Tishe'. Dying had taught him one thing and that is he needs to at least let her know how he feels...even if she just sees him as a brother and packmate.

" Please excuse me, this has all come on a bit sudden.. I need a little time to prepare and then I will go to help with the refugees"since I don't really know anything about this place, I suppose I'll manage to do a great lot of good with this too.... Falmar returns to his room, and changes into his equipment, spending ample time in prayer, and with his [i]book.. After a couple hours pass he arrives to help Tishe with the sorting of the refugees...
Falmar is now dressed in shining mithril Scale Mail, a scimitar at his hip, and shield and bow over his back.

Tishe' (AC 16 HP 55 /71) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Saturday August 22nd, 2009 3:29:43 PM
Tishe's mercurial attention span enables her to smile at Gilan and gladly accept the druid and Falmar's assistance. She chats brightly with the new half elf. "I'm Tishe' of the Bloodpack, my mother was from Rattledam and my father a travelling bard who was orphaned in the Sargrass where he was rescued by the monks. They fell in love and then the monks wiped thier memories and made them leave Rattledam so they settled in Hook City and that's why I and my older sisters were born there. Hook CIty I mean and not Rattledam. After I studied magecraft and worked with a Protector team in Hook CIty for a while, I left to try and find Rattledam and the history of my parents. Then Mac and I found the Bloodpack and I've been with them ever since."
The mystic notices what could be confusion in Falmar's eyes and thinks she needs to explain some more. "Mac is a minotaur friend I met on my travels to Rattledam. He joined the Bloodpack too, but he parted ways with us when we were on the Northern Continent. Our friend Xenia, she's a drow elf in another group called the Children of Chaos, why, she said she knows Mac and that he's made a good home in a place called Floating City with a group called the Crimson Shields. I miss him alot. There are others who used to travel with us too: Sterlin and Anuk were with the Bloodpack when I first arrived. There was Milo the halfling, a drow with a name that begins in U, and then the three drow of Murdock, Aryeon and Aryeon's brother Vayine too. "
"But right now, the Bloodpack has Trellus, our leader and a cleric of Domi, Gilan the druid who just returned to us with Gargul's Blessing, Grymash is the half-orc who is a cleric of Gargul and Yanosh is the dwarf Gargul cleric. Then there is Flea, who is a gnome and a great rogue (really neat), and Olaf the human is another rogue and I think he's a cleric of a Power from Ice Vein. And now you too."
And she continues on...
Falmar Saturday August 22nd, 2009 8:45:30 PM
Falmar, intently listens to Tishe' for quite some time... and many times makes attempts to tell his own story... Falamar is silently impressed by the industriousness of both his companions and the refugees. Everyone seems to be working together to get their situations straightened out. not like mud town...no These people of the south seem to all have great sense of purpose... Once Falmar believes Tishe' has finally wound down, he begins to tell of his tale. I grew up in Mud Town, as a Protector you're probably not very familiar with it....didn't see much protecting there....no offense, just old wounds. My parents ran a weaving shop since my mother was skilled with weaving just about anything. My step-father was killed, my mother died of the Blistering...After her death I wandered for some time and learned of the Teachings of Domi. I returned to Mud Town to do what I could for the people there and helped where I could for a few years. Eventually I was contacted by my Father's people, I left Mudtown for the teachings of the Elves and their Magic and history. I've spent the last six years learning to perfect the dance. I realized one day that I had almost forgotten my mother and her family. I knew she had come from the Grass Wastes , her words, she always spoke of them with a sense of spite... she would never tell me why. Time passed and I had an opportunity to travel here on a personal quest for knowledge. I wasn't here for more than two days and our boat was destroyed by giant toad-things, and my guide killed....not long after Ayreon and Murdock's people found me wandering in the grass...."
"There's more to it, but we have work to do."
Falmar smiles and picks up a large bundle for an old Lady and follows her to her new quarters...
Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Sunday August 23rd, 2009 9:43:25 PM
Olaf ponders briefly the grey eye now embedded in his chest, but seems to dismiss it in his usual gruff manner.
Seeing Tishe and Gilan organizing the food gathering, Olaf volunteers to help as well. "I don't know much about the plains, but I'm thinkin' all that time I spent trappin' fer furs in the Vein mighten come handy 'round here, what with mouths ta feed and coin to bank. Plus, we got a link to the catacombs, good as a full market that. I figure I can maybe make some inquiries 'bout gettin' people back ta work n' fed n' all that, too, leastways with all these hands idle."
Later, the young, dirty blonde man sees Falmar helping in his own way, and nods in approval at his helpful demeanor. He makes a muttered commentary to himself in passing, "gettin' his hands dirty; ain't like any elf I've seen. Good fer him."
Flea Sunday August 23rd, 2009 11:14:25 PM
Though her wits are returned to her, the cold touch of the lord of life and death upon her small person, leaves the rogue breathless.
Of course, the god is able to see into her mind and know that she would do whatever would be required of her to restore Gilan to the pack.
Besides, though the god's tasks surely involve danger, they appear far from onerous or objectionable.
Keeping the Child sheltered until it comes of age shouldn't proove too hard. Not with the help of the Manfri, or hidden away in Oddholme.
Flea definirtely likes the idea of hunting down servants of Ga'al. Yes, there would be much satisfaction in that.
Seek out necromancers had some appeal as well.
Flea pulls her tunic away from her chest and stares at the raised grey scar. The mark of Gargul now imprinted on her chest. The gnome is glad she didn't have to give up her holy short sword. The one inscribed GET TO GNOME DOMI.
More important though, Gilan is back! The rogue can't help comment on the change in the druid's appearance, though. "Whoah! Gil!" she cries out, "pointing to the white streak of hair running though the druid's previously dark locks."
Oddholme Census (DM JohnP) Sunday August 23rd, 2009 11:23:48 PM
The Bloodpack get busy with the organization of the refugees in Oddholme. Tishe' and some of the others go to the central part of the dome where the refugees have gathered and meet with them. As she moves through the people, Tishe' gathers names and trades and other vital information. As the list grows, Tishe' learns that most of the trades necessary for starting a settlement are represented. There are more potters that she would have expected and there isn't a blacksmith, let alone anyone skilled in working arms or armor, but that should not be too much of a problem considering that Oddholme has access to the Catacombs.
As well, while there are some people with experience tending domesticated animals and small gardens, there isn't anyone who had spent enough time in the Sargrass to assist Gilan with foraging or hunting. Perhaps one or more of the youngsters could be taught but that would take time.
After the census has been completed, Falmar introduces himself and Tishe' briefly introduces the rest of the 'Pack. Olaf also plans on helping with getting everyone settled. Most importantly, Ayreon and Murdock get the people settled into empty chambers and suites to their satisfaction.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
The first night in Oddholme isn't silent or particularly restful. The new place and the terrors of the last several days result in unsettled sleep and bad dreams for some of the refugees. And there are others who cannot sleep because of their worries, or unfamiliar sounds, homesickness or whatever reason.
Meanwhile, Grymash and his four young companions are sitting somewhere with the Child. Since the fight out in the Sargrass, the Child has been silent. Of course, Grymash hasn't attempted to ask anything of the Child, either. But the very presence of the Child reminds the Bloodpack that they still have a task to accomplish.
Trellus Monday August 24th, 2009 9:51:47 AM
Trellus gives Gilan a friendly pat on the back. "Well, welcome back dude. And try not to do that again."
The cleric's fingers idly brush against his breastplate, searching for Gargul's mark underneath. A look of concern briefly crosses Trellus' features, as he wonders about the implications...to work.
Trellus strides over to shake Falmar's hand. "Many shadows," he greets the half-elf. "Welcome to the Bloodpack." The blond man listens to Falmar's story, interrupting only with the name "bounders", when the protector mentions "frog like creatures". He makes sure Falmar has quarters, and knows where everyone else's quarters are as well.
Then, he's off to straighten out the refugees. "Dudes," he tells them. "You all are Grass folk. You know what you need - farms, clothes, water, weavings. But the Bloodpack is not a replacement Council. We'll help protect this place, but you're gonna find we won't be here all the time. We left the council, and its ways. You need to find your own leadership, and work with Ayreon and Murdock and start living again." The cleric encourages and helps and guides - but he makes it clear the Bloodpack will not be making all the decisions for the new, growing town.
And then, Trellus hunts down Grymash. "Where does It want to go, now?" he asks, indicating the Child.
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Monday August 24th, 2009 10:08:02 AM
The morning comes after a long day and longer evening before. Tishe' rises from her nest of woven 'Grasses in her sleeping chamber and this day elects to weare an indoor robe of light woven 'Grasses over her more usual Sargrass Pants o Plenty. The mystic takes her spellbook out onto her balcony which overlooks the central meeting area (See Character Sheet) to do her daily study of arcane and divine magics. The sussurus of the people going about breaking fast below is soothing, and Tishe' enjoys the time where she can concentrate and still see (and be seen) by the people of Oddholme.
After breaking her own fast, she comes to the central area herself and provides what spells and skills as she may to the people for the remainder of the morning; cure minor wounds, create water, everburning torch, goodberry, purify food.
When she spies the Bloodpack leaders, she waves them over. "Ma'ab has provided me with a Scrying spell today. Who should we get more information from?"

(OoC sorry for the lack of posts last week. Was a busy and tired week. real life butted in and i failed to get on. Sorry again all. And yes Yanosh would of course accept anything from him God with out question. So he takes the mark as well.)
Once seeing Gilian returned to the 'Pack and accepting the Mark of the Grey One Yanosh turn and leaves the room silently. A waft of blood is the only reminder that he had left.
Once in his own chambers Yanosh draws his knife and throws it across the room. Kicking over his bunk the usually tidey Dwarf wrecks his personal chambers. Once his anger is sated he sits among the rubble of hi room and prays for guidence from Gargul. "What must I do to keep from getting those around me killed? First my friends from the Ice Vien and now here. Once again my home is being destroyed around me. I will serve you in all you ask of me. All I ask is a Home that I can stay at."
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Monday August 24th, 2009 2:32:56 PM
Gilan looks to Flea and once again runs his hand through his hair, a frown playing across his face. "What...feels the same to me." Unless someone actually shows him or later he thinks to look, he will most likely not even notice the change in his hair. Still it will make very little difference to him as he is not vain about his looks.
Smiling to Trellus he shrugs his shoulders. "I am glad that Lord Gargul gave me the chance to come back and help." He watches their leader move away to deal with the refugees and most likely think over the past happenings. They still have a number of duties left to perform, the greatest being the protection and safe guidance of the child.
The rest of his day is filled with picking out a number of brighter younglings and older kids to help him in dealing with the prairie pigs and blind swallows that he will be bringing in. It is a slow and tedious job, but they are all quick and eager to learn, teaching them how to deal with them without having to resort to violence. Most of this is accomplished through the use of misdirection with food or something else to distract the creatures in turn. He decides to put off bringing in more animals till the morning and he has had the chance to rest from his ordeals.
Like every morning he is up early, outside and singing his morning prayers to Mother and Father...though he adds a more somber bit to the end of it in honor of Lord Gargul as well. As he sings this end bit of his new morning prayers, his hand touches the mark upon his chest and he smiles. Before going back inside the dome, he takes a seat with quill, ink and parchment to pen a quick note.
When he returns back inside the dome he calls upon the help of a small eagle, tying the message to his leg, he sends him off to find Tishe'. This is further aided with the use of another spell that he casts as well, though it might have been a misuse of his powers this early in the morning. "You can find her my friend." The eagle takes off to find Tishe' and once he does he comes down to land near her, the message attached to his leg so obvious as he hops near her.

After my experience with death the other day, I came to a realization. No matter the outcome, I must tell you something that I have been afraid to say before this. Over the time that I have spent with you, I have fallen in love with you. Though nothing may come of it, I wanted you to know as it bothered me greatly to not be able to tell you this at least once. Please forgive me for not telling you this in person, but I wanted to gather in some animals before we have to leave again.

Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Monday August 24th, 2009 7:23:54 PM
Olaf continues to organize the trappers and hunters of the refugees, trying to get them to set lines and scout the environs of Oddholme, for those with experience in the outside world. As he develops some trust with the eclectic group, he also discretely suggests they keep an eye out for intelligent, potentially dangerous foes as well as the usual game.
Come the morning, he makes his way deep within Oddholme, to the portal. There, he makes his devotions to Celsiun, hoping the Power of the Vein may hear him through the magic that connects the vein to this place.
Flea d20+14=19 d20+9=20 d20+11=30 Monday August 24th, 2009 7:45:38 PM
Before Gilan departs the chamber, Flea brings out something wrapped in a soft cloth. Unwrapping the item, she reveals a highly polished steel mirror. "Suits you," is all she says when the druid hands the mirror back.
Folks disperse throughout the domed town, seeking their quarters. Flea finds her own snug appartment, really only a small, room, surprisingly on the top floor of the building, under a low roof. After an inventory of her goods, a quick tidying of her room, and a rest, she heads off to find a refugee skilled in womanly grooming arts. The rogue gets a few inches trimmed off her frizzy strawberry red hair so it just brushes her jaw, and the bangs are shortened to a spikey fringe high on her brow. She forks out a few coin for a massage, and a bath, if a common bath house has been set up by any entreprenerial types.
*****
Later, the bored, and not too wise gnome ponders the delima of Grymash, Gargul's egg-child, and the child accolytes. The rogue decides the dwarf, Yanosh, might have some answers for her. Seeking out his chambers, she snoops a bit (Move Silently=19, Spot=20, Listen=30), looking into open doorways, and listening in on conversations, until she reaches the dwarve's rooms. She knocks on the door, and invites him out. "Let our noses lead us to where we might find some victuals!" With luck the two might source some food (and even better, some drink) and discuss the dilema of what to do next with the egg entrusted to the Bloodpack.
"If Gargul wants us to raise it up, how you figure we're to get it hatched out?" she asks the dwarven cleric, "and why do you figure he wants the Manfri to have it?" "You figure its a boy or a girl?" she continues, adding "when you pray to Gargul, does he answer you? Does he visit you in your dreams? Can you conjure him up, somehow, whenever you want?"
Flea's hand wanders unconsciously to her breast, and she rubs at her tunic, in the place where the new scar marks her as one of the grey-one's own.
Falmar d20+3=13 ; Monday August 24th, 2009 11:03:58 PM
Falmar arises early, spends time in prayer and contemplation and sends Moxy aloft to seek out a quiet deserted courtyard. He spends about an hour dancing, rolling and jumping about to his own tune, oblivious to the world about him, swinging his arms to the rhythms in his head. Later he returns to see that the refugees are settled and everyone is getting along as best they can. The rest of the Pack' seems to be doing their own thing today, so Falmar spends some time exploring Oddholme, and is surprised by the kind welcome he receives... This place seems to have been built on a far greater scale than it is used for....what happened to all the people here As night approaches he seeks out somewhere to relax and enjoy himself for a time....Hoping to find some answers to his questions ( Gather information 13 )
Oddholme & The Child (DM JohnP) Monday August 24th, 2009 11:23:05 PM
The Bloodpack immerse themselves in the day-to-day routine of the refugees in Oddholme. Of course, as Trellus makes clear, the Bloodpack aren't the rulers of Oddholme but merely it's ... well, that's not really clear. They certainly aren't anything like the Council, nor would they consider themselves merely unimpressive lackeys to be ordered. First Among Equals might be one phrase to describe them, or perhaps the Ones Able to Help. It all depends on how someone feels about the need for authority and order in society.
No matter, really. This soon after their arrival in Oddholme, the refugees are merely getting themselves settled. Certainly none of them seem to be seeking leadership even though some of them are trying to assist as many people as possible. Trellus is pleased to see that his brother and family are among those trying to lend a hand to those refugees who arrived with less than others.
Gilan has no problem attracting some of the younger refugees to assist him. In some cases, the parents or guardians seem almost eager to get the adolscents or older children out from underfoot and into the Sargrass. Gilan's biggest problem is the long-held and ingrained nervousness that these town-dwellers feel when outside the protective walls of the dome. Still, after a couple hours of work, the youngsters are coming along as herders and drovers.
Flea is a little disappointed that she can't find any bath-house operated by a refugee. Still, her inquiries do prompt some interest. While it's no commercial affair, and definitely luxurious, by the end of the day some of the older folks have managed to set up some bathing facilities. The search for prepared food comes for naught, though, since there is still only enough to go around and not enough people to prompt such a venture.
Falmar takes the time to investigate and gets a general impression of Oddholme. The place is large, easily as big as some of the other grassdomes that he heard about in the Sargrass including this Rattledam place that everyone mentions. The refugees occupy merely a fraction of the total space, clustered on one side of the central area where water is most readily available. Before he goes too far, he is cautioned about the possible dangers of exploring even though Murdock and Ayreon have never noticed any creatures wandering in from outside. The mention of what has entered through the Portal, though, is enough to give Falmar pause.
The matter of the future is a question on everyone's minds. Trellus searches for Grymash to determine if the half-orc has received any message from the Child. While he is doing this, Trellus realizes that he has a vague sense of where the half-orc is sheltering with the Child. Later, when he discusses this with some of the others, the Bloodpack realize that each of them had the same vague sense that told them the general direction of each other, even Gilan when he was out in the Sargrass outside the dome. Perhaps this is something that merits more investigation?
Tishe' mentions use of divinatory magics to learn more of their mission. Yanosh seeks an answer in prayer before Flea finds him and encourages him to track down Grymash.
Olaf takes the time to go into the empty parts of Oddholme where the portal is located. When he gets there, the cleric of Celsun makes a mental note that some kind of magical or mundane watch over the portal would be a good idea now that there are many more people in Oddholme. He manages a faint connection to Celsun and the only impression that he receives is "impatience".
When found, Grymash and the four children have nothing specific to add, certainly no specific direction or destination. The half-orc merely relates that the Child has provided fleeting images of being out in the Sargrass accompanied by an emotive sense of "wanting" or "belonging".
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Falmar's mind is on the past. Does any member of the Bloodpack have any answer to his question about the origins and history of Oddholme?
Yanosh Tuesday August 25th, 2009 5:30:29 AM
Hearing a knock at his door Yanosh jerks the door open. Seeing who is there he quickly composes himself and smiles at the Gnome. Running a hand through his usually well kept and braided goatee, "What is it my Dear?" he asks. "We need not go far to look for food I can provide that myself." Glancing back over his shoulder at the mess his place is in he leads Flea away so she can not see.
Quickly casting the spell Yanosh provides sandwiches filled with meats and cheeses. Handing one to Flea they walk to find Gry.
"I do not know how the Child will 'hatch'. But I am sure we will know when it is time. I believe the Manfri are to raise the child."
"I guess its a 50/50 chance for a Boy," he chuckles.
"Gargul answers prayers in his own time and his own way. Sometimes it is with great awe like today. Others it is more subtle. One must be willing to lisren and hear when he speaks to them."
Walking and talking with the Gnome always relaxes the Dwarf. As they talk he steals glances at her. Slowly he begins to smile.
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Tuesday August 25th, 2009 11:37:17 AM
Completing her morning rituals, Tishe' is happy to see the eagle land on her balcony. Such a non-native Sargrass animal that is inside the Oddholme dome could only be from Gilan, and this thought is confirmed as she takes the note and reads and...
Tishe' still has a stunned expression on her face when Falmar bumps into her as she aimlessly wanders about the corridors. The half-elfs questionss enable the mystic's mind to begin working and the small human tells the little she knows about Oddholme to the new member of the Bloodpack.
"The Bloodpack were on the trail of some strange creatures who were marauding in the Sargrass a year or more ago. We tracked them down to this abandoned grassdome, where a monstrous abomination was weaving webs and controlling the animals through its poison. We cleansed the place and decided to make it our hideaway. This was during a time when the Council at Rattledam wasn't too pleased with us, and we were thinking of breaking our allegiance with the monks. Grymash was the one who named it Oddholme."
"When Rattledam was destroyed in the recent Great Migration of the Southern Continent, the Bloodpack gathered those refugees who wanted something different than staying under the restrictive rule of the monks and the Council, and we brought them here only yesterday."
"We have had three sets of visitors to Oddholme since the Bloodpack has claimed it. The first are the Manfri, little people of the Sargrass. The second were the Children of Chaos, a powerful heroic group that was on a quest (they make their headquarters somewhere beyond Hook City) And the third visitor was Horvis, an evil druid of great power. All three of these groups were interested in the Oddholme Portal."
When she gets to talking of the Portal, Tishe' brings Falmar to the Portal Room, waving warmly at Olaf.
"This stone slab is a teleportaion device. It seems that it is connected to an underground chamber where it is possible to access many more lands and realms, and we have only explored a few of them. Who built this Portal, or even Oddholme are all mysteries."
Olaf AC 30, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Tuesday August 25th, 2009 6:15:55 PM
While pondering the Power of the vein's impatience, Olaf realizes that Oddholme needs more than scouts of the outside world--it needs some protection from the portal in the center. Finishing his devotions, he starts examining the room with a more critical eye. His old trapper sensibilities suggest a few modifications here...a more substantial revision of the floor over there..."Hmm. Might work," he mutters to himself.
Seeing Tishe' and Falmar, Olaf nods, "This portal's how Yanosh n' I met with the 'pack, some time ago. Leads to some sort o' nasty down below, but so far we been lucky 'nuff. Hmm. Gonna have to find Trellus, now." With that, he heads upstairs.
Once back in the main levels, he looks for Trellus. Finding the taller blond man in discussion with Gry, he pauses for a moment. Still, his concern is serious enough, so he butts in, "Sorry ta interrupt. I'm thinkin' we need to do somethin' ta secure the portal area. I can get some more serious defenses going in a few weeks, but fer now, I'm hopin' you n' Tishe' n' whomever can put some magical defenses down there. Wouldn't wanna get surprised by them nasties from below."
Grymash Tuesday August 25th, 2009 6:48:09 PM
Grymash finally comes out of his funk and breaks his silence. The mark on his chest he sees as a great blessing of Gargul .... however, he can't get the image out of his mind that the mark looked far better on Tishe than it did on him! He shakes his head vigorously to clear his mind. He looks at the Child and asks, "What now? Lets rest for a short while before we continue."
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Tuesday August 25th, 2009 7:26:24 PM
Gilan stands outside Oddholme once again and looks around at what he can see for a few minutes before settling into a seated position upon the ground. He knows that if anyone needs him they will find him, so he goes about casting another of his spells and then uses that information to go out and hunt down a few more....cattle.
It should be little problem for him to get them back and then into the pen area near the older animals, so that they new can get use to things...though prairie pigs are usually docile. Hopefully by the time that he is done they will have a nice little growing population of prairie pigs and blind sparrows for the home. Though to make it really work, they will have to rely upon a good breeding program and be cautious.

Flea Tuesday August 25th, 2009 9:47:52 PM
Between bites of sandwich, Flea listens to Yanosh. Quite a bit of what the dwarf has to say sinks in.
"So," she continues, "I figure we'll have to go out there..." the rogue waves her hands in the general direction of the outside..."since we have to take it to the Manfri." It is as much a statement as a question. "Let's find Gry, Trellus, an' the others and figure out how much time we've got to ensure folks are settled in...an' we're ready to go."
Wiping her hands on the side of her pants, Flea looks imploringly at the cleric and asks "you got another?"
Falmar Tuesday August 25th, 2009 10:33:33 PM
Falmar looks upon the portal, scratches his chin and wonders how large of a thing could pass through the portal.
Turning to Olaf and Flea,
" You said that the Manfri, Children, and Horvus all came here because of the Portal.. Has anything ever come out of the portal ? Anything that didn't originally enter it from here ?" Is there any way to know where you turn up ?
Falmar asks for a moment, and holds out his hand toward the Slab Highlight to display spoiler: {Detect Evil } Lowering his hand he reaches into his pouch and tosses a silver coin upon (within?) the Portal.
Falmar stops, looks behind him and up at an angle and slowly tilts his head as if trying to hear something, he shakes his head..." Yanosh Flea and Grymash are together....Maybe the child......... Falmar scratches his head...looks at Olaf and Tishe' and asks them.
Can you point to where you think Gilan is?.
" Have either of you ever spoken to the Child ?
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Wednesday August 26th, 2009 7:22:53 AM
Tishe' responds to Falmar and Olaf. "That's right! Olaf and Yanosh came to Oddholme by way of the Portal. And Horvis assumedly did too. And the monstrous abomination that first was here."
"As to how large a creature, the Portal doesn't work by stepping through. All you have to do is touch it, have a token of the location (which I can make), and read the spell on the murals in the walls. The only limiting factor of how big would be if it could fit through the tunnels at the other side." She considers for a moment. "Anything Huge size or smaller could come through. And if they can turn gaseous or shrink or have some other magic, why, they could be of nearly any size at all!"
Tishe' suddenly goes silent, her eyes again taking a glazed, stunned look, and her hands fold and unfold a piece of paper...
Yanosh Wednesday August 26th, 2009 11:31:27 AM
Yanosh looks at FLea as she finishes her sandwich, "One must not gorge himself in times of plenty just because he can." Slyly he looks over at Fle," But for you my lovely Flea I do have another." and he prodices another sandwich the same as the first. "Yes we must continue on to the Manfri and soon."
Flea Wednesday August 26th, 2009 7:54:56 PM
Flea is intrigued by what the new-guy asks, and ponders what he might be pondering. Maybe using the portal as a way to get somewhere without having to quest randomly over the Sargrasslands?
Taking the delicious offering from Yanosh, and cognizant of the ages old conflict between dwarves and those with elvish blood, she whispers, to her dwarvish friend, Yanosh Highlight to display spoiler: {"he's not as dumb as he looks!"}
Winking in Falmar's direction, Flea takes a big bite of sandwich and waits to hear what the newcomer has to say next.
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Wednesday August 26th, 2009 9:58:10 PM
Wanting to test out the new mark from Gargul, he settles into the grass in a kneeling position. Reaching his right hand up to touch the mark through his armor, he concentrates on Flea. Much like they had been able to do with the Dragon Gems, he sends out a questing question to her. "Flea?" He is hoping that maybe he will find a new interesting fact about the mark itself. He could easily tell the location of each person with the mark already, something that had almost come to all of them he would figure.

Falmar turns to Tishe' and asks..
" You can make location tokens ? If I wanted to travel to somewhere I have never been, would the portal take me there ?" " Could the portal be used by the refugees in a time of danger? "
Learning (DM JohnP) Wednesday August 26th, 2009 10:55:45 PM OOC - Apologies for missing yesterday's post. My older daughter spent 6 hours in Emergency with what turned out to be a badly sprained finger.
The Bloodpack spend some time rehashing past events and informing Falmar of what has passed before. There's also some amount of socializing and planning for the future.
Gilan is the only one who takes the time to investigate the Mark of Gargul. As he sits in the grass and focuses on the Mark, the vague awareness of his companions sharpens until he knows the precise distance and direction to each of them. As well, he can tell whether any of them are hurt, sleeping or in good health and condition.
He keeps trying though and attempts to send a message to Flea.
Flea - Highlight to display spoiler: {You receive a mental communication from Gilan. It's startling, almost as if he were nearby.}
Flea Wednesday August 26th, 2009 11:21:03 PM
Flea hears her named called, and recognizes the voice as her good friend Gilan.
"What?" she cries out startled. "Where are you, Gil?" The rogue had thought that the druid had gone out to the investigate the grassy environs around Oddholme with some of his new recruits?
The rogue's eyes rove 'round the space, and she whirls in a circle, the greater part of a good sandwich still held in her hand.
"What form are you now?" she questions out loud, "spider, fly, or some other tiny creepy crawly?"
"Anybody seen Gil?"
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Thursday August 27th, 2009 12:12:10 AM
Gilan has to smile as he feels the agitation of Flea though he is not for sure what it is about, but he has a wild guess. Shaking his head, he has to make sure that what he suspects is true so he continues with more of a message to her. "Flea...the Mark of Gargul...use it like the Dragon Tear." If this is actually working the way he thinks it might be, the Mark would be even more powerful than the Tear.
If this happens to work with communication, could it also be used to send health and strength to the others as well? Something else that he would be willing to test as well, though he is not sure how he would know if it worked. Still, he concentrates on lending his own strength to Flea as well and figures that if it works he will feel a weakening in his own muscles.

Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Thursday August 27th, 2009 1:18:52 PM "As I understand it, Tishe' has to gather her thoughts before continuing. She puts the paper away and visibly places it out of her mind, but she is constantly distracted while talking with Falmar.
"The tokens are pretty easy to make, just a crafted object with the symbol, there on the wall, put on the object somewhere. A person can then hold the object and use the Portal. As far as we know, the Portal goes to only the one place, the chambers between portals. Like a verson of Ring Gates."
Tishe' soon excuses herself and goes back to her chambers, petting Wart all the way there. Of its own, her mind wonders where Gilan is, and the Mark of Gargul responds. Tishe' knows the location and general health of the other druid in the Bloodpack. Indecision and conflict run through her, her emotions uncontrolled by any sense of direction.
Yet, finally, TIshe' comes to a conclusion. Whether for good or ill, a conversation must be had.
Tishe' goes in search of Gilan.
There is no stealthy approach or beating around the bush. The short woman with wavy brown hair merely walks up to Gilan with the note in her hand. "Many Shadows, Gilan" she says.
Olaf AC 26, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Thursday August 27th, 2009 6:27:59 PM
Olaf fingers the mark underneath his mail shirt, wondering what strange currents lie within, as the flickering of messages pass through his mind. This is going to nice for scouting he thinks, a bit too loudly. Oops. Sorry about that, he passes on to the rest of 'pack.
Still pondering the security arrangements, he heads back down to the portal to see what may be done. To Falmar, he responds, "Hmm. That's a good 'un--sendin' folk someplace safe when the time's a needin' it. But I don't think the other sides safe. Heck, we haven't even explored half of the complex it connects too, much less understood it. Seems like scoutin' that's gonna be a priority once we get this child delivered."
"Anyone got clues as to where we go next with the Child? Seems like we better act on that right quick. To the Manfri?"
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Thursday August 27th, 2009 9:11:45 PM
Gilan feels the approach of Tishe' before she actually gets to him and he sighs. He had in some ways been looking forward to this and dreading it at the same time. Still he had wanted her to know, even if she did not see him more than as a packmate. Turning his head slightly, he tilts it and looks at her with a slight smile. "I figured you would come to find me after I sent you that message. Just so you know, it was something that I wanted you to know...something I wanted to tell you in case something happens again." He feels no embarrassment, though he is nervous to hear what she has to say.
"I wanted to tell you something in person first, something that I did not want to say in that note. We can always be friends and packmates if nothing else. There will never be hard feelings and things will not be strange between us." Hopefully that would at least put a few things at ease and he could tell that he was telling the truth. Maybe it was his more animal side that could except this, because he was not sure if the human side would have and he was most definitely more animal than before.

Visitors (DM JohnP) Thursday August 27th, 2009 11:06:35 PM
The Bloodpack begin experimenting with the abilities of the Mark of Gargul discovered by Gilan. Obviously, there will have to be some sort of protocol developed around these Marks, particularly if any of the Bloodpack wish to keep anything private from the others. Gilan attempts some other uses of the Mark but is not successful.
Meanwhile, Tishe' and Olaf continue describing what they learned about the portals to Falmar. The recent addition to the 'Pack decides to seek out Grymash and the Child. The first and most obvious place to start is the chamber that Grymash and Yanosh have converted into a small chapel to Gargul.
After speaking with Falmar, Tishe' seeks out Gilan who is still outside. The pair share a private moment discussing who knows what. Their conversation is interrupted when a group of small figures gently moves from the grass surrounding Oddholme. It seems that the Manfri have come looking for the Bloodpack.
Yanosh Friday August 28th, 2009 10:07:05 AM
The Dwarven cleric rests and prays as he waits for the 'Pack to move out. When he hears that the Manfri are here he knows. Yanosh heads for Gry's place.
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Friday August 28th, 2009 11:47:03 AM
The mystic sits in the 'Grass tailor fashion, easily moving her sage-and-buff tunic and cloak about to settle down beside Gilan. She smiles and acknowledges that Gilan isn't pushing for a change in thier relationship, and that fact calms her as precious little else would have.
"You are a sweetie to say that, Gilan, and I think you are special too, just as special as Mac, Grymash, Flea and the others." She smiles as her eyes fade to memories. "When I first found the Bloodpack, I was still weaving in the shadows of my elder sisters. They were the ones who all the boys wanted, and I thought that my strength was in magic, not relationships." She laughs. "Remember Jake? I was so naive that I thought he was going to show me something professional when he took me in the hold of the Grass ship. I hope he learned something while Webbed to the wall!"
"But I was never who was pursued, and it came as a great shock that not just one, but many males were seeking my company in that way." Tishe' still shakes her head in wonder, but she no longer denies that physical attraction to her is impossible. "I've come to accept that others may see in me something besides a battle companion." This time the pause is longer. "But I can't yet see where I can see anyone else that way. You are a sweetie, and not even the diviners can see the end of a tapestry not yet woven, but I am glad we are able to remain good companions and nothing more... personal."
She stands and offers her hand to the other druid. "Packmates?"
But then Tishe' is interrupted by the arrival of the Manfri. A happy grin hits her face at these small people who are so close akin to the land. Tishe' sits again to get to more of thier level and bows from the waist. "talki freesal, dondit liki.", she says, The Land, My Life
Trellus Friday August 28th, 2009 11:53:22 AM
Olaf mentions protection on the Portal room, and Trellus checks if the glyph he'd put up earlier is still there. "If we get time tomorrow morning, I'll add another layer," he promises.
The blond does take the time to remind everyone that the Portal appears to be a one-way connection to that wheel of portals thing, and so popping off into nothingness is unlikely to happen.
After a couple of experiements with Gargul's mark, Trellus finds it acts exactly like a couple of spells he's used before. "Just like the Status and Message spells," he remarks.
Assuming Gilan uses the new found powers of this token to announce the arrival of the manfri, Trellus goes out to join the druid in meeting them.
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Friday August 28th, 2009 9:27:28 PM
Gilan takes the offered hand of Tishe' and nods his head. "As I said...packmates is enough." He slowly stands himself smiling as he glances to the parting grass and the arrival of the Manfri. There is not hurry for a relationship and to be honest, he is not that ready after the loss of Kaili back in Rattledam. To Tishe' he adds a little of why he was out here in the first place. "I was hunting up more wild prairie pigs and blind swallows for home...I have located some and thought to bring them in." This is interrupted further by the arrival of the Manfri in their area.
His hands form the ritual gesture of greetings to the Manfri as he took speaks the now automatic phrase that has become part of his life. "Talki freesal, dondit liki....my friends." He does not bother to sit as he is not sure how long the Manfri will want to stay and if they need to move back to Oddholme, he wants to be ready as is.
Through use of the Mark, he sends a message to Trellus and Flea first so that they can relay it to the others. "Guys....the Manfri have shown up in the grass." As he lets his mind settle back upon the little people before him he smiles. "Well met again." He looks over the faces of each for some of those that they have met before as he has become better at distinguising their features.

Falmar Friday August 28th, 2009 11:47:57 PM
Falmar heads for Grymash and the Child, starting at their Temple. He enters the temple and looks at Grymash and the Child. " Should we go to meet them ? Or wait for them here ? " "has the child stirred yet ?
Flea Sunday August 30th, 2009 8:49:46 PM
"R-i-g-h-t..." says Flea as understanding dawns. The rogue dooks a finger into the nec of her tunic and speaks 'at' the silvery scar on her chest, anticipating the messae will be conveyed to the druid. She lets Gilan know that those inside Oddholme are going looking for Grymash, expecting he might be inside the little chapel he and Yanosh dedicated to the grey-eyed one.
Flea takes a another bite of the sandwich and follows the group looking for Grymash and the egg-child, trying to finish her second sandwich before they meet anyone of significance.
The Manfri (DM JohnP) Sunday August 30th, 2009 11:09:22 PM
Gilan and Tishe' greet the Manfri while sending mental communications to the other members of the Bloodpack. The Manfri clasp their hands and bow slightly, saying "Talki freesal, dondit liki" as they do. Then, each of the four Manfri crouch just outside of the grass and wait patiently.
Inside Oddholme, Trellus and the others receive the message and prepare to head outside to greet their visitors. Falmar hasn't met the Manfri before so this will be something new for the newest member of the Bloodpack. Falmar goes with Flea and Yanosh to where Grymash has taken the Child but haven't found the half-orc cleric of Gargul yet.
Just after Trellus goes outside to meet his companions and the Manfri, the four turn and watch as an older Manfri emerges from the grass. The older Manfri is familiar and the 'Pack realize that this is the one that they have met before.
The manfri bows and recites, "Talki freesal, dondit liki".
"Ready to go to ritual? Make born the Child?"
Trellus Monday August 31st, 2009 8:46:08 AM
Once again, they're asked if they're ready to do something without any explanation of what it is. The question is so typically manfri that Trellus can't help but chuckle. Grinning widely, he answers, "Oh, absolutely," and shares a quick look with Gilan.
The blond man activates his Mark to contact Grymash and the others. "Gry, the manfri are here. Looks like they know the next pick with the Child. Can you bring it outside? We need the rest of the pack, too."
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Monday August 31st, 2009 11:40:45 AM
Tishe' smiles sadly at the Manfri, remembering her time among them, learning more of the land and first meeting her companion, Stripes, the hi-eena.
At the question of ready?, the mystic uses the simple answer of standing up and walking a few steps towards the Grass. Of course, the brown-eyed woman waits for the rest of the Pack and the Child before continuing!

Grymash Monday August 31st, 2009 7:46:24 PM
Grymash emerges from the chamber where he and the child had occupied. (sorry for the lack of posting. been preoccupied with new classes and responsibilities. will get better.) "We have visitors? The Manfri?!" Turning to the Child in his arms, he asks, "Does this please you, Child? The Manfri have come to claim and care for you." Facing the Manfri, Grymash gives a slight, uncharacteristic bow to their manfrian brethren and says, "Talki freesal, dondit liki".
Olaf AC 26, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Monday August 31st, 2009 7:48:31 PM
Hearing the summons, Olaf leaves his partial plans for better protection of the portal and heads up to the exterior. "'bout time," he notes absently.
Once he nears the exit, he takes a moment to prepare himself for what is to come. Satisfied that he has all of his necessary possessions, he strolls out, his eyes on the lookout for what might come.
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Monday August 31st, 2009 8:12:49 PM
Gilan glances to the Manfri and then to Trellus in turn, shrugging his shoulders. The Bloodpack is always reading for whatever trouble is brought their way, though they might not be totally ready to deal with it. He gives Trellus a wink and then moves closer to the Manfri as he turns to wait for the others. "Are we prepared?" He was not sure how ready he was but he had acquired a few new pieces of magic himself. Four tattoos adorn his arms now, two to each arm, and a circlet sits upon his head as well...though it will be less useful right now.
What he has not revealed is that he has been working on a few new abilities while they have been here. Though all of these have been done in his abode or here in the grass, where he can hurt noone or be disturbed.

The Path Ahead (DM JohnP) Monday August 31st, 2009 11:48:43 PM
The older Manfri waits patiently for the Bloodpack to assemble outside. Once all, or nearly all, of them have arrived the native of the Sargrass speaks.
"Ready soon? Things to do?" Can wait little, but need go soon. Trail long but we make quick."
The manfri pauses to look around at all of them, seeming to appraise their strength. Nodding slightly as if satisfied by what he sees, the old manfri continues to speak.
"Sargrass thank you for carry Child, protect Child. Can you protect? Any try take Child?"
Falmar Tuesday September 1st, 2009 1:41:13 AM
Falmar saw Grymash leaving his Temple and follows him to the clearing where the Manfri are.
Listening to the Manfri talk Falmar valiantly tries to conceal a chuckle... and is enormously amused by the Manfri's speech and how they seem to assume he understands them. and what they want without mentioning it.
Looking around at the rest of the Pack he sees that although many of the pack seem slightly amused by the Manfri, they are taking them seriously. If Gargul woudl put the fate of the child in their hands, their manner must not represent their true character...but then who am I to judge them ?
Falmar nods when the Older Manfri asks if we are ready.... being unsure as to how to speak with the Manfri.
Tishe' (AC 16 HP 77 /77) (Endure Elements, Mage Armor) Tuesday September 1st, 2009 8:52:59 AM
Tishe' is ready to go. She takes her usual place in the center of the Bloodpack for her travels, then goes over to Falmar to make sure he is protected from the terrible heat of the Sargrass sun. First she casts Endure Elements on the elf before speaking to him.
"No one knows for sure who the Manfri are. Me, I think they are actually little Fey of the Sargrass Plains. Whatever the truth may be, the Manfri may be trusted with the best intrests of the land itself. They are linked to the land like a dryad to her tree." Tishe' pauses thinking, and then follows up. "And of all the peoples in the Sargrass, the Manfri are the only group who have NEVER lied or betrayed the Bloodpack."

Trellus Tuesday September 1st, 2009 8:58:52 AM
Trellus takes a moment to pull a rod out of his pack and cast spells upon his armor and shield [Magic Vestment -extended - CL 12].
He looks around and notes that everyone seems present, including the new dude. Leaning over to Falmar he whispers loudly, "Actually, this happens a lot." And grins. "Welcome to the Bloodpack"
The blond man turns back to the manfri elder. "I'm ready,"
Flea Tuesday September 1st, 2009 7:34:10 PM
Flea follows the group as they weave their way out of Oddholme and out into the plains. Having finished the sandwich, she once again wipes her hands on her pants.
On spying the tiny dark-skinned, white haired manfri, a gap-tooth grin splits her face. "Talki fresal, dondit likki," she answers clasping one hand over the other and bringing them up to her chest.
Flea had always secretly figured the manfri for some odd branch of gnomish folk, split off prior to cataclysmic times, etc. and evolving uniquely to suit their environment.
Wonder if its a boy of a girl, she thinks, pondering the hatching of the egg.
Gilan [endure elements, longstrider] Tuesday September 1st, 2009 8:15:40 PM
Gilan moved over to stand near Falmar and smiled. "I was not ignoring you earlier. I would like to welcome you to the Bloodpack as well." He holds out his hand to the newest member, his smile still on his face. Unfortunately, his connection with the wild has reshaped his canines to look more like that of his canine brothers.
Once that was through he slipped back into the grass, but not before getting Trellus's attention. "Scout like normal?" Though it sounds strange that a druid would be doing the scouting for the group, he was not bad at it. It was also not a bad place for him to spend his time and give him time to think as well.

Olaf AC 26, HP 76/76 (20% miss chance) Tuesday September 1st, 2009 8:55:15 PM
Olaf prepares to venture forth, keeping silent amidst his packmates. He wracks his brain about what the child may mean to the Manfri, but comes up with nothing.
