Shrugging off the worst of the damage from the spell, Gilan is more than happy to employ his own forms to put them into a better position. He one problem so far is that Grymash has been having problems hitting these creatures and he is not sure how well he is going to do.
Gilan slips slightly to the side and sets himself up for a flanking position with Olaf. His form ripples and changes as he uses his powers to shift into one of his alternate forms. When the tranformation is over, there is a very large eight headed creature in his place that roars out a challenge to the undead thing.

The undead doesn't even notice as the magic energy strikes.
The battle between the hippogriffs, the manfri and the unseen spellcaster is continuing out of sight in the grass.
Trellus heals Grymash once more.
Olaf attempts to trip Opponent 1 but the undead is firmly grappled by Gilan. DM Note -- No rules on this but a character firmly grappled by a hydra won't be tripped.
Falmar almost strikes the grappled Opponent 1 once but cannot do more than that.
Grymash hits Opponent #2 once. Even though the skeletal body of the undead is nearly beaten to fragments, it is still holding together somehow.
Gilan tries to savage the grapped Opponent 1. The head still gripping the undead pulls it in closer and pins it. The subsequent heads try to bite and destroy the creature. Despite all the damage caused, which should be enough to destroy the creature, it is still able to keep struggling. DM Note -- I resolved this doing the following: - first Grapple check to Pin the opponent. - subsequent Grapple checks for causing unarmed damage to opponent. I ignored the attack rolls since they weren't needed.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Opponent 1 almost breaks free from Gilan's pin. Grapple check = 31 vs. DC 32
Opponent 2 steps five feet and keeps swinging its longsword at Grymash. Two swings bite deeply into the half-orc. Longsword 1 -- hits AC 46 (threat), confirmed AC 39, 33 damage Longsword 2 -- miss AC 25 Longsword 3 -- hits AC 35 (threat), confirmed AC 32, 36 damage
Opponent 3 finally notices that someone beside it has been casting spells to keep Grymash up and in the fight. After cocking it's head, it strikes at Trellus. Listen = 25 Touch 1 -- hits TOUCH AC 25, >50% so hits, 9 damage and 1 CON damage, Will DC 20 for half damage and no CON damage Touch 2 -- hits TOUCH AC 21, >50% so hits, 9 damage and 1 CON damage, Will DC 20 for half damage and no CON damage Touch 3 -- hits TOUCH AC 27, <50% so miss NOTE -- Touch attack is a supernatural effect and not subject to Spell Resistance

Tishe' is completely frustrated in her magical abilities to protect her packmates. A little nudge from Wart causes her to look at her familiar and get her temper under control. "You are right, Wart. If I can't support in one way, I can support in another."
Standing still in the air, she takes a breath and begins a complicated casting to bring into the battle more assistance...
And hidden in the Grasses the battle with the mage, hippogryphs, and Manfri continue.

No DM post tonight. Just got finished all the housework and errands and don't have it in me tonight.
Survival (DM JohnP) Friday October 9th, 2009 10:14:07 PM Tishe begins casting a spell while her hippogriffs circle over the battle between the mage and the manfri.
Trellus uses a wand to heal Grymash again.
Yanosh cannot hit the pinned Opponent 1.
Falmar moves about and tries to hit Opponent 2. His strike is not enough to get past the combination of armor and protective magic used by the undead.
Otto moves about and tries to trip Opponent 2. His swing hits but he is unable
Gilan bites and tears at the pinned Opponent 1. His multiple heads rip the undead creature apart but there is still something animating the tattered remnants.
Grymash slashes at Opponent 2, hitting well with his second attack.
As soon as Grymash's blow lands, the undead crumples. Gilan suddenly finds that he is holding empty armor and bones as the force animating the undead is suddenly released. The third undead drops to the turf as well, the remains of its flesh pooling upon the grass until a gentle wind picks it up and blows it away. Tishe' learns through her link to the summoned creatures that the battle out in the grass is over.

Tishe' is happy that Grymash has been saved from his own impetuousness, and happier still that the mage in the Grass is also gone. Still, she completes her spell and brings into this plane a Hound Archon to help protect the Grasses for a minute or so.
The mystic relays what her Hippogryphs have told her before they return to the Lands of Rest. "But there is still so much we don't know", she calls to the Bloodpack. "Why? Where did they come from? Why did they all disappear so suddenly? What other forces may be aligning against the Child?"
It is the last one that makes her look around and check up on the twisted trees to see if there are other attackers for the Child.

The combat quite suddenly ends, and Trellus looks around blankly for a moment. "They musta all been linked together somehow," he guesses. "Like multiple overlapping Shield Other spells, so that Gry's dude had the total life force of all four. And once Gry busted through, they all died, er, re-died, whatever."
Speaking of Gry, the cleric notes his friend is a mess. "Help me healing Gry," he calls out. "And lets get back to the Child, fast."

All eight heads hiss in unison and anger as the opponent falls apart. Gilan glances around to see if there are any more enemies around that he can deal with. Not bothering to change back to his human form, he continues to hiss in anger though it might also be a bit of a celebration as well.
Glancing around one last time he moves back to take his place near the outskirts of the ceremony that was still going on. All eight heads looking in different directions for more signs of trouble as that seemed rather easy to him. Though Gry might beg to differ on that one, though he does like the bloodletting but there was no blood this time around.
All eight heads grinning, he could not help but joke...though his speaking was punctuated by hisses. "How can we be the Bloodpack without any blood." Each head then falls into a bit of laughter as well, though how funny his joke was he is not sure.

Tishe' completes her spellcasting and summons a good outsider to scout around. Neither the theurge or her summoned creature notice any immediate threats to the completion of the ritual.
Falmar retrieves his bow and then heads out towards where the manfri had been fighting another one of the Ga'alians. The trek through the Grass is difficult since he is still unaccustomed to moving through the Sargrass. When he reaches the clearing, Falmar sees signs of magical battle but only a pile of bones and items marks where the undead mage fell. Falmar's initial glance doesn't reveal any signs of the manfri being here.
Yanosh has other things in mind. The dwarf retrieves his crossbow and heads back towards the clearing where Flea has remained. While he is doing that, Trellus is healing Grymash while the half-orc is doing the same.
There are two piles of bones mixed with armor and items to mark where the undead opponents have fallen, and Gilan is still coiled about the third pile.

Tishe' and Falmar pick through the piles of remains, finding bits of armor and other items. He is greatly interested in what is going to happen and as such, is glad that they did not miss it.

The Ritual Continues (DM JohnP) Thursday October 15th, 2009 10:28:25 PM DM Apology - I really did make a post last night. Somehow, the Wold ate both my DM post here and my player post in the Crimson Shields. Oh, well.
The Bloodpack gather up the armor and items left by their opponents and begin moving back towards the centre of the clearing where the Child was left. As they approach, they can't tell whether the manfri has continued without pause or resumed the ritual seamlessly. Certainly, the older manfri leading the ritual seems to be continuing with the same chant and motions as when they moved out to defend the Child and ritual.
As she gets closer, though, Tishe' notices many small insects and flies moving across the barren soil of the clearing towards the Child. Slowly, trying not to disturb these sometimes hazardous creatures, Tishe' can identify examples of each of the various hoppers, locusts, bloodflies and other minor vermin that find shelter and life within the Sargrass. The crawling mass of vermin gets thicker as the creatures approach the Child. Standing back at a safe distance from the Child, it seems that the vermin crawl up and over the Child over and amongst the grass strewn across it. There seems to be less grass, now, if the 'Pack look closely.

Nearing Completion (DM JohnP) Sunday October 18th, 2009 10:43:38 PM
The chanting continues from the manfri clustered around the Child in the centre of the clearing. After the arrival of all of the insects, the chanting slows slightly and keeps on this way for a considerable time. The sun has visibly moved in the sky before Tishe' and Gilan can tell that the heap of grasses is definitely smaller than when they left to defend the ritual. From a distance, they can't tell much but after an hour or more they can defintiely tell that the grasses are nearly gone. And, more significantly, the Child has grown in size. It is now no longer so small that Yanosh, or even Grymash, could comfortably carry it.
The chanting seems to be slowing when the pair of nature-inclined heroes notices a small bird flying overhead. It is an odd time for one of the blind swallows to be flying but they are convinced that this is what they have seen.
After the bird circles the clearing once, it dips downward and flies directly towards the Child. It briefly hovers over the Child and then lands, settling gently onto the top surface of the Child.

"What kind of new Wold are we going to be living in?" she wonders aloud.
Tishe' recasts a Mage Armor to give herself a little protection.

"We might wanna move over there," he finishes. And then follows his own advice.

The Creatures Appear (DM JohnP) Tuesday October 20th, 2009 10:21:05 PM
It is as Trellus suspected.
Soon after the blind swallow landed upon the Child, the older manfri gestured and the bird settled down upon the surface. Even though Tishe' and the others watched intently even as they backed away, they couldn't quite tell when the creature wasn't there any longer. Certainly, one moment it was and then it wasn't. Everyone was certain, however, that a pattern of dark lines formed upon the surface of the Child and slowly moved about. At time the pattern seemed to resemble wings but gradually shifted to represent something else. Feathers? Grass? Sunset over the Sargrass? None could really tell.
The afternoon wore on as the ritual continued. Finally, the snout of a bounder pushed through the tall grasses that still surrounded the clearing. After pausing briefly, the creature trotted across the barren ground towards the Child. This time, the 'Pack can easily tell what happens. The bounder approached slowly right up to the Child and then ... it was gone. This time, it was clearly evident that the Child had increased in size.
This was repeated twice more as afternoon passed towards evening. A rapke stalked from the grass and rushed the Child, seeming to flow directly into it. Later, a ranthom plodded forth and crossed the clearing until it stood nearly over the Child. This time, the creature seemed to thin as if its substance was being absorbed by the Child until it had faded into nothingness. The Child was not at least as tall as Grymash, perhaps even taller.
In the early gloom of evening, just after sunset but before the twin moons could illuminate the clearing, the final creature came as the 'Pack had expected. A gret moth sailed silently overhead and coasted down to settle over the Child. The sudden absence of light revealed that the Child had begun to glow with a dim green light. Finally, the light gradually grew in intensity until it was evident that the Sarg Moth was no longer present.
Then, for the first time since the ritual began, the manfri call to the Bloodpack. The voice of the older manfri calls through the silence of the night.
"Come close! Come and bear Witness!"

Gilan, still in hydra form, watched in rapt attention as the creatures appeared and then disappeared in to the child. There was both fascination and fear in his eyes as he watched all of this with all eight heads. Life was giving up theirs so that the child could be born.
With the call, he slowly moved forward to watch and bear witness to the birth of a new power. Unfortuantely, he also was wondering just what was going to happen and was it truely for the better.

The parade of animals facinates Tishe'. Here is the First Circle, shown to all present the cycle of the Sargrass and now imbued into the Child about to be born.
The night comes and passes, and with that, the last of the spells Tishe' has cast. She hasn't rested or studied, but with the events happening now, she doesn't want to!

The Manfri (DM JohnP) Wednesday October 21st, 2009 10:18:04 PM
As the Bloodpack approach the Child, which is now taller than Grymash and glowing with a faint green light, they see the older manfri who has been leading the ritual. The leader of the manfri has stopped chanting, leaving that for the followers who have been continuing the cadence since the ritual started in the morning. The manfri are clearly tired but the end of the ritual must be close.
"You bore Child. You protected Child. Now witness birth."
The older manfri stands between the 'Pack and the Child, silhouetted against the faint glow coming from the burden given to the 'Pack by Gargul. The manfri gestures towards the 'Pack, beckoning them closer.
"Blood drawn in, like creatures. You safe. You, all you, not of Sargrass. Manfri of Sargrass, like those before."
"We thank. Long time coming, long time ahead. Keep faith."
The manfri steps back closer to the Child before turning to speak one final time.
"Now, goodbye."
"Please, embrace Sargrass."
With that, the older manfri steps once more until his back contacts the surface of the Child. The 'Pack is now close enough to see a beatific smile spread across the manfri's face for a moment before he vanishes.
Trellus Thursday October 22nd, 2009 8:34:14 AM
Trellus' mouth drops open in complete surprise. It had never occurred to him that the manfri might also be part of this ritual. "Oh, Light!" he hisses, and then quickly glances to the where the other manfri were standing, to assure himself that the whole race didn't just sacrifice themselves for the Child.
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Thursday October 22nd, 2009 1:29:05 PM
Tishe' makes her feelings known the most eloquent way she knows how.
"wow."
Nothing else in her mind comes close to what she witnesses. But the Manfri words come through her. "We are not of the Sargrass, we Noble Races, and so it is safe to touch the Child. Come on, everyone, get shuttlecocked!"
And Tishe' strides forward to hug the Child Sargrass.

With no threats looming anytime soon, Gilan had shifted back to his human form a few hours ago. He watched as the older manfri sacrificed himself for the birthing of the child. The words spoken by the manfri before he disappears into the child shakes him a little and despite the little guys words he is not quick to move forward.
His heart skips a few beats as Tishe' moves forward and hugs the child. He does not draw another breathe till he notes that she is ok and unharmed. Once he is able to move again, he too will move forward to lay his hand upon the child for he feels kind of silly hugging it. Still he closes his eyes in silent communion with the child.

Embracing The Child (DM JohnP) Thursday October 22nd, 2009 11:14:48 PM
The other manfri have stopped chanting, standing back from the Child as the Bloodpack approach even closer. Tishe' is the first to stretch out her hand to touch the surface of the Child but Gilan is close behind. Trellus and Falmar are more cautious, waiting to see what happens to their companions.
And, for all outwards appearances, nothing happens.
But, internally, somethign is happening for Tishe' and Gilan.
Tishe' and Gilan only - Highlight to display spoiler: {The surface of the Child is warm to the touch and a faint, pulsing tremor is also felt. The first thing that comes to mind is the warm, liign surface of the dragon. But the Child is clearly not that.
Then a cooling sensation passes over both members of the 'Pack, like a evening breeze after the heat of the afternoon out in the Sargrass. Now they can sense more.
Gilan and Tishe' begin to feel an overwhelming curiosity, a need to get out and explore. A need to see and experience the breadth and splendour of the Sargrass grows within each of them. Even if the sensation is familiar to them, each can tell that this is something from outside themselves. Even more, that curiosity is tempered with restless energy. The best approximation that Gilan can conceive is how he felt as an adolescent, full of energy and ready to just get out and DO rather than sit and study.
Just as quickly as that came, it passes into caution. For both the Child and the pair of 'Pack members touching the Child can sense the coming of others. Of presences greater than the Child. Also coming to witness, to welcome and, perhaps, maybe to challenge. The combination of eagerness, anxiety and even, behind all else, love grows in intensity until Tishe' and Gilan have to break contact.
But just before they do, each of them mentally senses what might be thought from the Child. Or speech for one such as this.
"Mother? Father?"}
While Tishe' and Gilan are communing with the Child, the other members of the 'Pack notice a glow forming over the clearing. The air itself seems to be glowing. The 'Pack look to one another in wonderment and notice that the manfri have prostrated themselves on the soil of the clearing.
Something ... or somethings ... are coming.
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Friday October 23rd, 2009 8:58:18 AM
Tishe' steps back, breaking the .... the amazing contact. The small human looks around, blinking, slightly dazed, and begins to speak.
"She is alive. As curious and chaotic as Ebyron was, but young and hesitant at the same time. And... there are others coming."
Tishe' was never one to learn the effortless grace of her mother and sisters, but with the coming of the other presences, she curtsies as best she remembers. "Mother Wold, Father Wold : your servant is happy to be in your sight."

Gilan [HP: 136/140 - AC: 26] [wildshape: ] [] Friday October 23rd, 2009 1:38:48 PM
The swelling of awareness and wanderlust hit Gilan hard. He realizes that he will have a hard time ever settling down until he was unable to do so in his older age.
The sudden connection with the land and animals is overwhelming, which brings tears to his eyes. As the voice rings lightly in his head and he staggers away from the child, he turns slowly.
Tishe' had already spoken and his gaze turns to regard the area that he is sure that the others will appear in. He drops into a low bow of his own, though his eyes do not leave that area. "Mother Wold and Father Wold....I greet you at a new beginning. May your servant have pleased you both in this endeavor." Figuring he might make an appearance or one of his representatives, he glances around for Gargul as well. Neither Mother or Father would be upset with him paying respects to someone that was so closely tied to them.

Upon hearing Tish mention others, Falmar begins to retreive his bow....but upon looking at Gilan's expression he changes his mind and slowly takes in the surrounding glow.
Falmar goes down to one knee and holds his symbol of Domi...raises his face to the heavens and begins a song of prayer....
Apology (DM JohnP) Sunday October 25th, 2009 11:15:56 PM
Sorry, folks. Just don't have it in me tonight to do a DM post.
Trellus Monday October 26th, 2009 9:27:15 AM
Whatever is coming, Tish, Gil, and the manfri are not only expecting it, they welcome it. Unlike Falmar, Trellus doesn't bow or kneel...yet. But he does take care to stow his wands and keep his hands out in the open.
The cleric gives a nod to Gry, Yanosh, and Olaf. "I think we want to be very non-threatening for the next several minutes", he notes quietly. "We weaving with something very new, and very powerful, and we really don't want any misunderstandings."
Grymash Monday October 26th, 2009 6:10:49 PM
Grymash just stares on with a dumb-struck expression. He doesn't know how to respond, or act, or even if he should breathe. He feels strange sensations. Things that are completely alien to him. His life has been nothing but an ongoing path of destruction... but now he witnesses the divine spark of creation. Something new ... something 'odd'. Odd is a strange word, he thinks. He just recently learned its meaning. Named their new home after the word. Grymash has been carrying this Child for so long, he isnt used to the fact it's not in his hands. Feels like a part of him is missing. Yet he still feels connected, like a phantom. In other words... odd!
(sorry i havent posted until now.)
A Crowd Gathers (DM JohnP) Monday October 26th, 2009 10:50:36 PM
Tishe' and Gilan tell the other members of the 'Pack about what is about to happen and each prepare in their own way. Tishe' and Gilan both revere Eberyon and Maab and have sensed the approach of those powers. Neither fears what is about to happen and might even anticipate it. Olaf has been silent and may be preparing himself for communication with Celsun.
The rest of the Bloodpack either revere one of the Gods of the Wold or acknowledge their might. The nature of the Powers is different, more personal, than the Gods. And the culmination of this ritual will certainly drive that home to Falmar, Trellus and Grymash.
What everyone experiences is a gradual increase in the glow over the clearing. The lights begin to move, slowly shifting in the air into unknown shapes. Trellus has heard tales about the Northern Continent where similar lights can be seen in the night skies during the coldest months of winter. But that is not what is happening here, in this clearing near the centre of the Sargrass.
This is something more. Something new. Something that probably no one else has witnessed.
Finally, the glow shifts and seems to stretch downwards towards the Child. The light contacts the uppermost point of the Child and flows over the surface, spreading and increasing in intensity.
Tishe' and Gilan - Highlight to display spoiler: {As the glow first begins to intensify, both Tishe' and Gilan can feel the approach of a strong, maternal presence. Tagging along behind, seemingly dragged away from something more immediately interesting, is a chaotic presence. Still, the Child captures it's attention (at least for the moment).
As the lights begin to shift, Tishe' and Gilan catch a glimpse of a mature woman's face beaming downwards. The chaotic presence briefly concentrates and forms the shifting glow into the shape of a male face, the lips forming the word "Child".
The presences ascend, drawing the glow upwards with them. Each is clearly waiting for something.}
Olaf only - Highlight to display spoiler: {The lights shift and, briefly, shape themselves into the form of a distant but recognizable place. Olaf senses a message coming from that presence, "Go. Serve. Protect."}
As the lights get brighter, shapes and forms can be seen within the glow. A mature woman. A tousle-haired man. Shifting landscapes of mountains and forests. Three old women. Other, stranger shapes. All looking downwards at the Child.
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Tuesday October 27th, 2009 1:43:31 PM
Tishe' nods and smiles, like a child herself when the important adults are in the room. She recognizes some of the forms and Powers as the same ones seen at the Portal Room where the Bloodpack battled Ga'als minions with the Children of Chaos.
It gives her a moment to pause and think how that elf-girl is doing. Xenia, that's her name...
She waits expectantly for the culmination of the Child's Birth.

Falmar looks up and watches the reactions of his 'Pack. Some incredibly eager for what is to come...some quiet and introspective....Falmar feel that he should feel some type of fear at this moment, but feels none. Are these other Powers here to take the Child away ? Is the Child a new Power to be unleashed in the Wold ? Or is the Child moving somewhere else. Falmar is a bit disappointed in the thought of the Child leaving...he was begining to look forward to their meeting..
Gilan [HP: 136/140 - AC: 26] [wildshape: ] [] Tuesday October 27th, 2009 4:48:03 PM
Gilan slowly stands from his bowed position and nods his head to Mother and Father in turn. A crooked smile forms on his face as Father fights to form himself into something to speak even that single word. He knows it is not because Father has trouble with that, just that his nature is fluid and he takes to so many forms.
His eyes roam across the area, picking out a number of the other gods in attendance that he knows and a good number that he does not. Finally his eyes are drawn back to the child and he waits to see what will happen next. It is obviously going to be very important and he wonders what the child will do with his first breathe in this world.
His mind strays to all those that have made this possible, including the other group that had helped in this endeavor. Wondering how they would get word to them, he figured they had a right nto know.

The Birth (DM JohnP) Tuesday October 27th, 2009 10:32:19 PM
The time has come.
Everything has lead up to this point. The battles, the struggles and the burdens have all contributed to this moment. And the witnesses have come, both mortal and beyond. All here for the completion of the ritual.
It's nearly imperceptible at the start. A fine web of lines spread over the surface of the Child. Tishe' and the others can't tell if this is mere emulation of one of the plants of the Sargrass or something more. The lines spread and thicken, though, to eventually knot together in form raised seams. The glow fades over these seams, the light running and pooling across the Child.
Then, a hair-thin line of light can be seen in the centre of one of the seams. What does this mean?
But more is to come. The seams spread wider, allowing the Bloodpack to see the roiling mass inside the Child. No form is discernible, simply a shape of flowing green, brown and pink which flows and pushes against what is now shown to have simply been a shell. Even as the sides of the shell move farther apart, the 'Pack can see the mass re-forming itself, extending at one point and narrowing at another. Finally, just before the shells fall to the barren earth of the clearing, a naked humanoid has taken shape.
But an immense humanoid, crouching or kneeling to remain within the shell of the Child. Something nags at the Bloodpack until they realize that the humanoid is proportioned like a human or elven child even though it is surely at least 10 feet in height. The humanoid stands, then, wrapped in the remnants of the material inside the shell. As it stands, hands reach out and push the shell sections aside until the Child can stand to it's full 12 foot height.
It is clearly growing accustomed to this shape, moving and flexing as it turns to survey all within sight. After examining the Bloodpack, the Child stops and looks up at the glow overhead. It pauses, seeming to collect itself. Then it speaks, in a melodious but asexual tenor voice that could belong to an adolescent but which has such power as to shake the soil beneath the feet of the Bloodpack.
"I am Sargrass."
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Wednesday October 28th, 2009 9:38:52 AM
Tishe' can only look on in awe at the birth of Sargrass. The being held within a crysalis for uncounted years, protected by a well of Woldsblood and the monks of Rattledam. Before that, was Sargrass living in the time before time, the time of the Cradle and Ebyron? She doesn't know. But Tishe' has pieced together that somehow the crysalis was stolen by the Northern god Ga'al and twisted to his dominating ends before the Bloodpack and Children of Chaos were able to help break that hold. Rescued by the Bloodpack, the recent history has been only days ago: across the Plains, protected and brought here where the Manfri called all the parts of the Sargrass together to form from the crysalis... Sargrass.
Was she speaking? Was all this going through her head? Tishe' can't tell herself.

Trellus Wednesday October 28th, 2009 10:43:14 AM
Gry's "what's that?" goes unanswered, mostly because the cleric has no idea himself.
Trellus watches with growing awe as the Child's shell gives a way and the new, what? god, I suppose emerges.
Two sentences juxtapose themselves in his mind. The manfri's last words - "Please, embrace Sargrass." - and this beings' first words - "I am Sargrass."
"Light," the man breathes, too overpowered by the moment to think of any other words.
But, the manfri said what he said. Tishe isn't moving, and after a quick glance at Gilan and Grymash, Trellus swallows, takes a breath, and approaches Sargrass, hoping manfri dude didn't mean his words literally. Cause I'd look totally bright trying to hug this guy
The blond man stops before the new power.
"Welcome Sargrass. We are the Bloodpack."
Grymash Wednesday October 28th, 2009 10:32:49 PM
Hearing the words of Sargrass, Grymash lifts his head and stands to his feet. Unsure what to do next, he does the only thing that has been taught to him concerning manners. "Hello, I be Grymash Mountainback. I be da one who carried you all dis way."

Gilan [HP: 136/140 - AC: 26] [wildshape: ] [] Thursday October 29th, 2009 1:15:31 AM
Gilan watches in awe as the child is finally born and though the child's first words bring a smile to his face, he does not laugh. It seems appropriate since he has absorbed a number of things from the Sargrass into him to be born, or at least he guesses it is a he.
Glancing to Trellus as he steps forward, he nods his head and moves to take his place near his packmate. "I am Gilan....Gilan DeKasparl." The last bit of his name comes out strange as he has not used his last name for so long. To everyone he has always been Gilan of the Bloodpack and he prefered it that way.

Standing he steps forward next to Gry. "I am Yanosh Ironfist. I helped protect you as Grymash carried you here. Talki Fresal, dondit liki." Yanosh kneels before the new God. Again he swears his felity to the Sargrass but now it is to Sargrass

Falmar AC: 25 (26 with Sword ) HP 59/59 (Endure Elements, Aura of Courage, ), Thursday October 29th, 2009 5:19:11 PM
Falmar looks upon The Sargrass and sees something he did not anticipate...
Falmar thinks of his Mother at her Loom... the tales of the Sargass that would terrify him as a child...He always asked for the scary ones....he liked those best...thinking back he didn't even remember any tales of the harsh beauty and variety of life that inhabited the Sargrass. She died so young... so many things he could have, should have asked..., Where did she grow up ?, what friends did she have ? Why did she leave her home ?...it just never seemed important....so many things don't until it's too late...
Falmar stands and steps forward to stand with his 'Packmates.
Welcome Sargrass, I am Falmar PleniLune, my Mother was of the Sargrass...I am at your service...
Sargrass Speaks (DM JohnP) Thursday October 29th, 2009 11:09:01 PM
The newly born Sargrass listens as each of the Bloodpack speak, introducing themselves and sometimes pledging their service. Reading the face of Sargrass is easy, as if he (or she?) hasn't learned or bothered to mask their emotions. Wonderment and pleasure are evident along with something else.
"I remember you. You carried me," says Sargrass to Grymash.
"You kept me, too," to Yanosh.
"And the rest of you protected me."
Whatever else Sargrass was going to say is interrupted by the lights overhead suddenly growing brighter and moving faster. Sargrass coks his head as if listening to something unheard by the Bloodpack. After a moment, the lights gradually fade away until the clear night sky is overhead, the stars shining undimmed and the sound of a gentle breeze stirring the grass beyond the clearing.
"They tell me to learn. And to grow."
"I think that I should go alone. But I will return."
Sargrass gestures to the manfri and also to the children who accompanied the Child to this place, beckoning them closer. Sargrass speaks to the children first.
"Would you stay here? Keep this for me?," Sargrass barely finishes before the children are nodding in agreement.
Then, to the manfri, Sargrass asks another question. "Would you walk with me?" The natives of the Sargrass do not answer verbally but simply stand from where they have been laying and begin preparing to depart. Sargrass turns back towards the Bloodpack.
"You. All you. I cannot thank you. Yet. Maybe when I grow and learn."
"They said that I need something more. More than these can give. Would any of you place me before others? I can help you, if you wish?"
Trellus Friday October 30th, 2009 8:51:54 AM
Trellus blanches at Sargrass' request. Not wanting the first words from the 'Pack to be 'no', he says nothing, looks at the ground rather uncomfortably, and waits for his packmates' replies.
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Friday October 30th, 2009 10:15:08 AM
Tishe's brown eyes are wide open and taking in this once in a multi-lifetime event. Even her curiosity is getting all the satisfaction it needs! When Sargrass speaks, she inclines her head, at the acknowledgement; that the children will stay here to start a holy place; that the Manfri will wander the land with the Land; that... huh?
Tishe' smiles and holds up her hand to show the Mark of Gargul. She reaches between her breasts and pulls out a small worked amulet that shows the sign of Pantheon. She looks at the two areas where departed lights had been the presenses of Ma'ab and Ebyron. And she speaks.
" I freely renew my oath to the Sargrass; Talki Fresal, dondit liki; the land, my life. I will continue to protect your land and your rightful people. Yet I have other committments and requirements that I cannot lay aside and still be who I am."
Tishe' looks at the others. She highly doubts that Trellus, Grymash, or Gilan would accept that offer for her same reasons. Yanosh and Falmar seem equally content with the Gray God. It is Olaf and Flea she is most curious about. Would they accept the offer of Sargrass?
Yanosh Friday October 30th, 2009 1:27:44 PM
stunded by the request Yanosh realizes that he may have just pledged himself to Sargrass already. What would Gargul say or do? Could he serve them both? No can serve them both. He has a commitment to the Grey One. Shaking his head the Dwarf states, "I cannot serve you. I am one of Garguls." Silently he steps back near the quiet Flea.
Gilan [HP: 136/140 - AC: 26] [wildshape: ] [] Friday October 30th, 2009 9:35:23 PM
Gilan shakes his head and sighs. "I would enjoy the chance to serve you. But I cannot set aside Mother and Father that easily." His hand reaches up to touch the mark that lays under his clothing. "I also have a commitment to Gargul that I must fullfil as well." Cocking his head to the side he grins.
"Still, I will pay you services in my morning prayers at the same time as the others." Cutting a slight bow, he glances back up and the grin has not left his face. "I hope that you will not be offended by the offer."

Falmar AC: 25 (26 with Sword ) HP 59/59 (Endure Elements, Aura of Courage, ), Friday October 30th, 2009 11:07:56 PM
Falmar realizes that he has met two Gods, or Powers in the last couple of weeks...Falmar believes what Sargrass is asking is more than what Gargul asked of him. Work for him, aid him in what way he can, these things he could do, but to give up Domi, to set aside one who he has walked with for so long does not sit well with him. To be a part of this new begining would be a great challenge and an experience few have the opportunity to accept. Loyalty, Honor, one does not change ones God after such a short time.
" Sargrass, I am humbled by your offer. One cannot set aside one who has been with me for so long.... given me courage and the Will to move forward when others fall back.... Domi will know my name.... I cannot set you before all others, but I can honor you in other ways if you wish it of me."
Sargrass Departs (DM JohnP) Sunday November 1st, 2009 11:06:04 PM
Five of the Bloodpack decline the offer from Sargrass, citing prior commitments and allegiances. It remains to be seen whether Grymash might be swayed, or the strangely and long silent Olaf.
It seems that the trepidation that some had in declining the offer from Sargrass was unfounded. Sargrass nods, then focuses his attention briefly on a blade of grass being pushed along the ground by an errant breeze. When Sargrass returns her attention to the Bloodpack, the offer seems forgotten.
"So be it. The offer remains, if you wish, so long as Sargrass remains."
"Sargrass is great with much to learn and do. A gift will come, later."
"Sargrass is within each of you. Sargrass surrounds you. Sargrass knows you. Sargrass may seek you out. Or you seek Sargrass."
"Farewell."
With that puzzling speech, the newly born creature turns and strides away to join the manfri who have been preparing to leave. No one is quite sure what happens as Sargrass departs. Some think that he shrank and darkened, becoming just like one of the Manfri. Others felt that Sargrass grew diffuse, spreading and thinning until Sargrass could not be distinguished from the grass surrounding the clearing. Or, Sargrass might have passed down into the soil.
Regardless, the manfri rapidly depart the clearing to leave the Bloodpack alone there in the dark in the centre of the Sargrass.
Tishe' (AC 12 HP 77 /77) Monday November 2nd, 2009 9:59:47 AM
On the leaving of Sargrass, Tishe' takes a breath, and then uses the time in gathering her thoughts and looking around the clearing. Has anything changed permenantly? A little bit? She wanders in the dead area and over to the great blades of Sargrass waving in the wind. Tishe' wants to find out if the changes in the Sargrass will be gradual or immediate.
Falmar AC: 25 (26 with Sword ) HP 59/59 (Endure Elements, Aura of Courage, ), Monday November 2nd, 2009 12:42:22 PM
Looking at the now mostly empty clearing Falmar begins to wonder where they are, and what they are to do now. He realizes that this has been a very long day, and this looks like as good a place to camp as any. Some rest would do everyone good. How far did we travel with the Manfri ? How long will it take to get back to Oddholme ? Falmar scouts around the old trees hoping to find something to start a small campfire with...
Trellus Monday November 2nd, 2009 1:28:11 PM
Trellus bows his head as Sargrass makes his declaration, although he doesn't really understand what the power is saying.
Sargrass leaves. The manfri and children leave with him. Trellus watches them depart. Silence descends upon the clearing, and still Trellus remains fixed, gazing at the point of Sargrass' departure, pondering.
Tishe and Falmar begin to stir, the latest addition the 'Pack preparing a camp. Trellus breaks free of his reverie, and slowly turns a circle, regarding the clearing.
After another pause in the silence, he speaks.
"Anyone know where we are?"

Gilan glances around as Sargrass takes his leave, though he is at as much of a loss as the others as to the final comments. Still his eyes taken in the surrounding area of the plains and tries to take in the few changes that are visible. He will have to commune with the surrounding land later to see what other changes might have happened that you could not see.
Glancing to Trellus he shrugs. "I could have gotten four back home with me but that is all." Even though it is no solution to their getting back home he is not sure exactly where they are at. "You give me a little time and I can find out how far from home we are."

The Clearing (DM JohnP) Monday November 2nd, 2009 11:06:48 PM
The Bloodpack wonder about their trip back to Oddholme from this place in the centre of the Sargrass. The trip here was aided by the magic of the manfri so Gilan figures that it will take the 'Pack several days, if not more, to return. Gilan and Tishe' are confident enough of their survival ability to determine the best path. If nothing else, it will allow Tishe' time and opportunity to study the Sargrass to determine if any changes will occur as a result of the birth of Sargrass.
But that is for another day. As Falmar commented, it's been a long day and everyone could benefit from a rest. The spellcasters can replenish their spells and everyone can recover from any wounds.
DM Note - Experience e-mails tomorrow.

Falmar AC: 25 (26 with Sword ) HP 59/59 (Endure Elements, Aura of Courage, ), Wednesday November 4th, 2009 4:46:57 PM
Falmar gets some much needed rest and wakes to his morning ritual of Study and Prayer. Casting Endure elements upon himself . He spends some time examining the loot gained from their struggle but feels he doesn't have the time to put into delving their secrets. Eager to get started with their journey he begins to pace along the edge of the clearing watching the horizon and listening to Tishe'
Gilan [HP: 136/140 - AC: 26] [wildshape: ] [endure elements, longstrider] Wednesday November 4th, 2009 9:53:06 PM
Gilan is up bright and early the next morning, his morning prayers being sung with the rising of the new days sun. His usual prayers to Mother and Father are now joined with the name of Gargul and Sargrass as well as he pays tribute to all those that are of greatest import to him. His spells selected for the day he returns to the camp and finds Trellus and Tishe' to discuss thier preparations for the return home. "Tishe' is right. I can get four other besides myself back to Oddholme in short order if there are four that would trust me with their lives." He is of course only joking as his magics are not dangerous to them right now and would be easily used without danger.
He will go onto describe the procedure of laying a tree token here and returning through that tree to the one in his personal grove back in Oddholme. That as long as four others held hands and remained that way that they would come out the other side with no problems.
