Jass is amazed his hearing has much improved being in the filth and mud. Not only can he hear the pigs, but he can hear the consternation of the others getting attacked by the opponents.

"Hey Syr, how about a new plan? We knock out the opponents, and then it will be easier to get the pigs taking our time?"

The sorcerer gets out his whip and takes a step closer to Brahmah. "OK, Big Boy", he calls to Brahmah but voice carried to ensure the opponents know of the threat, "First one of them dudes who touches one of us gets to be your dinner, eh?"

He takes a snatch at a pig, and though Jass again touches the swine, it easily wriggles from his grasp.

If Syr notices the pig seems somehow immune to subdual damage then the elf uses lethal damage on the last 3 attacks.

The elf then moves onto the sleeping swine, preventing others from collecting it. "Grigory, come grab this one. It shouldn't be fighting too much."

(OOC: Syr was actually at F14 last round. Question, if a character is adjacent to a pig at the start of a turn, does he still need a DC 30 to be able to go after it?)

"Nuthin 'bout that in a rules, Runt!" The big hulking man who stayed out of the pens to balance Larien's absence shouts down at Giovanni. "We're gonna keep our shrivelies!" he adds, and grabs a handful of his crotch to physically define his terminology.

The tall blonde woman who had just run over Eclip looks up and rolls her eyes.

All of the guards in the pens listen for the oinking of the greased invisible pigs. Only two get a good enough fix on the exact location of the pigs.

F1 (the grizzled veteran) takes a 5ft step toward the pig that Jass is interested in, directly under the nose of both the sorcerer and Brahmah the Minotaur. He reaches out and snags a handful of squealing pig and pulls it in.

F4 (The archer with the drooping mustache) comes directly south. He passes the wildly punching Syr and grabs at another pig, but his hand passes through empty air.

With one pig in hand, the rest of the guards in the western pen move to protect the grizzled veteran.

F2, F5 and F6 move in to block access to Jass and Brahmah.

F3 and F7 observe Syr's strategy. F3 ducks his head low and rolls into Syr, knocking pushing him five feet and off of the square into which the elf had been attacking. (Overrun 22, Cannot avoid due to Improved Bull Rush. Pushes Syr into G16.) F7 steps up to Syr and attempts to trip the elf to the ground. (Touch Attack hit AC22. Trip 11.) The guard finds, that though the elfish monk is smaller, he is exceptionally well grounded. This second guard finds himself tripped instead, and thrown to the ground.

Back in the eastern pen, the guards, seeing the Shadow Guardians clustered so far away from their own holding pen, arrange, with subtle looks, to cut the three drow off. They form a loose line through which the Guardians will have to go should they wish to carry any captured pig to their holding pen.

Great Pig round up (DM Glenn)  d20+16=24 ; d4=2 ;

Grigory readies and action asking Syr where the pigs are.

Belkior moves for a pig near Jass, but misses any pig (ooc: only 1 attack or grab with a standard action.)

Spotting a pig Corvis tires to grab it, but misses.

Not spotting a pig, T'Shalla looks at her opponents.

Not enjoying the company of guards, Giovanni, the Halfling tumbles away.

Amazed at the filth, Jass suggest a new plan threatening to take out the guards, as he makes a grab for another pig only to have it slip out of his grasp.

Larien watches over the battle with her detect magic.

Giving the guard a dirty look, Eclip stands up and moves across the pen.

Matching Gilin, Pathos hopes to flush them out. (ooc: I can't tell where you wanted to move to?)

T'Shalla continues to watch the group of guards.

Hearing Jass, Syr spots a pig he moves forward kick it. The single hit knocked the pig out cold, it's still invisible at your feet. (ooc: F14? Sorry you're previous post didn't include a position so I placed you as I interpreted your action, and the pigs moved accordingly. If you know where a pig you don't need to roll the spot or listen check. IE. the unconscious pig isn't going anywhere, so you know where it is. You can try to grab it still have the 50% miss chance there, carry it to your pen without any further grapple or escape checks.)

The veteran F1 grabs the pig from under Jass nose, and the archer moves south missing another pig.

Some guards protect the veteran with the pig, as others try to push and knock Syr down, but are only partly successful.

The guards in the eastern pen from a defensive line.

Corvis looks around (ooc: Sorry the pigs get their turn before you can take another, but you can keep your rolls for next turn just post something to that effect.)

Brahmah pulls his sword and threatens the guards near him.

Giovanni tries to bribe the guards offering a 100gp bounty on each pig they put in his pen! (ooc: The guards would be considered initially hostile the diplomacy check would make them indifferent to Giovanni, It's up to Al if the guards accept the bribe of if the Dwarf uses diplomacy DC21, intimidation DC11 to reduce the Gio's diplomacy total swing the guards back to hostile.)

taking his delayed action, Grigory moves to grab the pig that Sys knocked out, but fail to grab hold of the invisible pig.

The pig tries to escape from the veteran guard's grasp (escape: 24 vs DC33) but fails.

The other pigs run squealing from the guards and party members alike.

Pig #5 is knocked out.
Guard F1 has pig #7

Putting Pigs in the Pen - Pigs need to be physically picked up (grapple DC16) and put the pigs into the holding pins. You can move a grappled pig half your movement as a standard action requiring a DC16 grapple check. DC12 if pig is pinned.)

Grabbing a pig requires a touch attack AC 15 (with 50% miss chance if you have the right square) followed by a grapple DC16. (Note: the grapple touch attack is made at -4 unless you are trained in grappling or a monk.

"Hey, lookit them!" The dull looking guard up on the wall with Dander Stonebiter points a finger at Brahmah. "He's using lethal weapons. If they breaks the rules does we win?" he asks the dwarf.

F1 (The grizzled veteran) backs away from Brahmah with pig in arms. He heads for the holding pen for his team. The guards that surround him move with him in a cordon, protecting him. (F2, F5, and F6 - More on them later.)

The group that surround Syr and the pig that he's knocked out, begin a scramble for the animal. F7 stands from prone and tries to Trip Syr once again to take the elf out of the equation. (Touch AC23, Trip 16) This time, he manages to best the elf, throwing Syr to the mud and filth. Then he moves five feet into the space from which Grigory has just picked up the pig.

The other two guards, not as quick as the halfling, Grigory, now try to take the pig away from the hapless wizard. (F3 Grab/Disarm 22; 50% Miss = 14/Fail, 2nd roll for Blind Fighting = 9/Fail again; F4 Grab/Disarm 18; 50% Miss = 98/Pass!) F4 also makes a good grab and snatches the pig away from the halfling. (F4 Grapple Pig 25) He grapples the pig, holding it securely in his arms and makes his way to the guards' holding pen.

The grizzled veteran's pig tries to escape (escape 17) also falling to wiggle free.

The other pigs run around the pen's fleeing the guards and PCs alike.

Listen of DC zero or Spot 10 give you a general idea of where the pigs are to within 1 square of the Oink sound. Depending on the number of squares around the Oink you can roll a D4, D6, or D10 to chose the right square roll a 1 = success. (re-roll a 10 result on a D10).

Listen DC20 or Spot 30 can pinpoint a pig about its oink sound. So you know which square it's in, but still have the 50% miss chance to hit or grapple the invisible swines. (ooc: Roll 1d100 for invisible cover 1-50 miss, 51-100 hit.)

To grapple an invisible pig you need to: (If the pig is unconscious you skip steps 2 & 4).
1) pinpoint the pig with a spot DC30, Listen DC20, get lucky, be told, or see someone else.
2) make a touch grab vs AC 15
3) Roll >50% for the invisibility miss chance.
4) Make a grapple check DC16 to hold on to the pig.

Trying to mark a pig with mud then Pick a square and make a thrown range attack with -2 per 10ft range increment.

Disarming a Pig from someone else
1) make a disarm attack vs the foes' disarm DC -4 since the pig is not a weapon.
2) Roll >50% for the invisibility miss chance.
3) Make a grapple check DC16 to hold on to the pig, unless it is unconscious.

Hmmm. Looks to me as though Overrun is a Standard Action. Mac's speed is 30, so I don't think you can make it to F2 with an Overrun. I could be wrong, though.

Also, from the chart, looks as though Mac's Overrun is +6 not +22.

OOC: I was under the impression that the ones who came near Syr and Brahmah WEREN'T guards. Also, in Brahmah's estimation, anyone who can use a whip or fists has lethal weapons. If he KNEW they were guards maintaining order, Brahmah would never draw on them. I misinterpreted the meaning of the DMs post.

OoC: Note to Corvis, the blond woman is in the other pen and cannot see you. You can cross over there if you'd like. There's nothing that says you have to stay on your own side.

The guards in the eastern pen all make glances at Giovanni as though waiting for him to make a break through their lines toward his team's holding pen. The short guard with the scarred fists (F9) shakes his head. "I don't hear a pig from over there," he says, confirming the absence that the others detect as well. As believable as the halfling's performance is, the absence of pig sound casts its shadow of doubt.

In the western pen F1 and F4 open the gate of the holding pen and put their pigs in. After, that, interested in what Belkior might be doing, they move across the pen in the direction of the halfling cleric.

F3 and F7 move on Corvis. F3 tries to Disarm the man (Touch Pig AC28; 50% = 54/Pass; Disarm 24) The Shield Guard grabs the leg of the invisible pig and just manages to wrench it from Corvis' grasp. The other guard, the short stout woman (F7), attempts to trip Corvis to the ground so that he can't get the pig back. (Touch AC31; Trip 21) The stout woman kicks Corvis' feet out from under him.

The towering minotaur comes after F2, but the man simply sidesteps the minotaur's Overrun and continues on.

In the eastern pen most of the guards have ignored Giovanni's bluff for the moment, they keep watching him, though, as he moves about. When he moves across the pen, however, to join Pathos, one of the bullet headed brothers cannot resist. "You got a pig, Runt?" he whispers as the halfling passes. "Lessee." The bully reaches out to pull the Giovanni to him. (Touch AC30; Grapple 33) The bullet headed guard grabs the bard and puts him in a headlock. "If I take your pig from you and put it into your pen, can I get the hunred gold?" he asks.

F8, F9 and F10 have no idea where the pigs are. They all step forward 5 feet in unison. Each, however, watches T'Shalla with great interest.

"Is it still there?" F12 calls back. He steps closer to the corner and swings his hands in the air again. (Touch AC22, 50% = 70/Pass, Grapple 20) This time the Guard's hands make contact with an invisible pig and he grabs onto it. "I got one!" he cries out in his excitement.

Back on the western side, F2, F5 and F6 also listen, but can only get a general direction of where the pigs might be. They're in the corner, but where? They are also now faced with a minotaur who's come over from the opposite corner. To defend the pen or go after the pigs? As guards, they decide that it's more important to defend the pen. They all take five foot steps to line themselves up in front of the pen.

OoC: Overrun isn't part of a Charge:

"Charging is a special full-round action that allows you to move up to twice your speed and attack during the action. However, it carries tight restrictions on how you can move."

"You can attempt an overrun as a standard action taken during your move. (In general, you cannot take a standard action during a move; this is an exception.)"

Charge is a Full Round action. Overrun is a Standard Action. Doing both in one round would be too many actions.

But, DM Glenn is adjudicating this. I'll stand by his decision.

I agree with Al here, an overrun and a Charge are two different actions. -Glenn

Pathos calls out to Eclip as he keeps an eye on the guards.

Deciding to put the guards down, Mac tries to overrun one. Making an double move to get there, the guard simply steps out of the way. (ooc: If the guard had stayed, Mac would have been a +6 Str mod + 4 large -4 Wold rule. As it is since the guard avoided, the overrun counts only as his second move action.)

Gio moves to help Pathos.

Looking confused, Brahmah sheaths his weapon while muttering that they all look alike. It dawns on the Minotaur, that everyone in the pig pen who isn't on his team is on the other team. There are no referees!

Syr makes two last ditch attempts to steal the pig back from the guard, but fails.

In the eastern pen one of the guards calls out Gio's bluff.

In the western pen the two guards deposit two pig into their team's holding pen! As two more guards move in on Corvis, one snatching the pig from him and the stout woman knocking him into the mud.

Back in the eastern side one Bully guard steps forward to grapple Giov putting the halfling into a head lock. As three of his fellow guards shift forward. One guard snatches at a pig guessing correctly it was hiding in a corner.

The other guards in the west pen move to defend against the minotaur.

Sensing a pig is in the corner, T'Shalla grabs it and holds on catching a pig.

Frustrated at the guard not standing still, Mac wants to hit him. (ooc: Overrun is a separate attack from charge {a Bull rush can be made as part of a charge}, so Mac can't attack due to being out of actions for the round. Also, charge only allows a single attack)

Giovanni complains to the guard and again tries to bribe him with a 100gp for a pig.

Talking to Brahmah, Jass moves to help Belkior trying out his whip which still has some kinks to work out.

Not as sure this round as last, Belkior makes two attacks at the nearby pig missing the first and touching the pig in the second, before it slips free of his grasp.

Grigory talks with Brahmah, Mac and Syr as he moves to help Belkior.

Eclip makes a grab for a pig, but misses. The drow suggest it would be a great time for one of Giovanni plans.

The pig in F3 hands tries to escape (escape: 18 vs DC31) but is held fast.

The pig held by guard F12 tires to wiggle free (escape: 20 vs DC28) but is stuck.

The pig in T'Shalla's hands tires to slip free (escape: 34 vs DC17) and is too greasy and slippery for the monk to keep hold of. The pig jumps free.

All the free pigs run fleeing from there hunters.

ooc: Okay, I'm confused.

I had Mac overrun after Al's and Glenn's round 3 post. Round 4 the guards don't do anything but side step. Mac attacks for round 5. Round 5 is posted and the guards now go first and trip him and attack him before he gets to attack. Are the guards always getting first action, or just whenever which DM posts? This seems very lop-sided to me. So basically, when are the PC's supposed to post their actions?

Friday January 1st, 2010 2:20:59 PM

(ooc: Confusion. In this contest there are three sides the PCs played by the players, the Guards played by Al, and the Pigs played by Glenn (me). The PCs and Guards get one round of actions each for every post for the Pigs. The timing of the Guards and PCs is based on when the post are made. I do see the problem timing between PCs verses Guards. To keep it the contest manageable, I think it is best to keep to one round of action per DM post for the pigs. This may cause situations where the guards get two action between a PCs actions or a PC may get two actions between the guards actions. Sorry if that makes for makes it lop-sided.)

Reacting with speed and purpose, the guards gang up on Mac. Guard F6 trips the minotaur, as he and Guard F2 strike him with their fist.

Guard F3 put his pig into the guards pen making three they have captured. Two other guards protect him.

Two guards harass Grigory, Belkior and Jass.

In the eastern pen two guards try to protect the one with the pig as it moves towards the guards' goal pen.

Two more guards corner T'Shalla.

Jass whips around with his whip and trips a guard into the mud.

Eclip shifts away from the defender guards before unsuccessfully trying to steal the pig from the guard.

Standing up, Mac strikes a guard with a powerful fist.

Gio moves about and uses his whip against a guard with the pig. Unfortunately he's not lucky enough to hit (ooc: F12's touch ac is 13. Also had to move south in order to get within range.)

Grigory calls for Mac and Syr to catch the guards, but otherwise he doesn't go for the pig.

Spinning around, T'Shalla go to trip the blond while she catches the guards leg she fails to knock her down. Fortunately the monk doesn't fall herself (reflex 33 vs DC18).

Larien watching the battle steps behind Grif for partial cover and silently cast a summon spell. ( Spot check DC25 + 1 per 10ft range to notice she is casting a spell. If seen then SpellCraft DC18 to identify the spell).

Guard F12's pig fails to wiggle free. The other pigs move about trying to get away.

Listen of DC zero or Spot 10 give you a general idea of where the pigs are to within 1 square of the Oink sound.

3) Make a grapple check DC16 to hold on to the pig, unless it is unconscious.

okay, so the players should wait on posting until DMAl posts his turn, right?

Also, not every player is posting, so we're getting screwed there too.

Question: if you can only move a grappled pig half your movement as a standard action requiring a DC16 grapple check (DC12 if pig is pinned), how did F12 make a double move to where he's at?

p.s. how far can you throw a pig, unconscious or otherwise?

(ooc: No, you can post your actions anytime. You can wait for after the guards post if you want, but you don't have to.

It would help if everyone posted, lucky this isn't a lethal combat.

You're right F12 should have been only able to move two half moves 30ft total. To account for the extra movement F12 should miss his next turn.

Pig throwing??? How about standard action to throw a 100lb pig 10ft max.

Jass' whip is a blur, pulling from the fallen F1 to strike F4, but this time, the whip doesn't entangle and trip the big man, so he tries again, sending the dangerous looking opponent into the filthy mud. "Seems I need a little work on my form" he comments to Belkior. before turning his whip casually in his hands. "This is turning into a melee!" The grizzled veteran (F1) shouts out to every one in the two pens. The guards in the eastern pen, that contains the Shadow Guardians all turn their heads.

F1 turns as Jass attacks his fellow guard with a whip. He targets the sorcerer with several punches. (Hit AC34 (crit confirmed 29), AC16, AC5/Nat 1, Damage 10+12+12 = 34hp)

F2 trades punches with Mac, one for one. (Hit AC31, AC20, AC16, Damage 10+11+10 = 31hp)

F3 retaliates against Syr. (Hit AC18/Nat 1, AC32 (crit confirm 32), AC22, Damage 4+5+6 = 15hp)

F4 stands from the mud and filth and punches Jass for attacking him with the whip. (Hit AC34, Damage 4hp - NOTE: This guard does not have Improved Unarmed Attack. Jass would normally get AoO, but can't attack adjacent target with Whip.)

F5 backs up his fellow guard and turns on Syr, raining down punches. (Hit AC26, AC18, AC15, Damage 6hp)

F6 tries to trip Mac again, reducing his effectiveness while he and his fellow guard beat him down. (Touch AC19 ; Trip +8 vs 12) He misjudges the trip and falls prone into the mud.

F7 tries the same tactic on Syr, kicking at the elf's feet. (Touch AC35 ; Trip +12 vs 15.) This guard too, makes a clumsy attempt, and he falls into the mud as well.

The guards in the eastern pen all mobilize to come to the aid of their fellows in the western pen. The only problem being the big minotaur blocking the passage between the two pens.

F9, his fists scarred from hours of practice, comes around the corner and smacks Brahmah in a sentitive spot. (Hit AC34, Damage 5hp; Stunning Fist Fort DC18 or be Stunned for 1 Round)

F10 is the only one who stays behind. He comes down to guard the pen. "I would shove off elsewhere if I were you, Dark Elf," he says, his tone decidedly threatening. (Intimidate 28)

Up on the wall, Dander Stonebiter cackles and capers. Yes, literally. His laugh is high pitched, and he dances from foot to foot. The dwarf is decidedly having the time of his life watching everyone below much about in mud and pig filth.

Ignoring the guards, Belkior grabs the cornered pig and drags it towards the pen.

Assuming an attack, T'Shalla defends herself as she insults the guards.

Brahmah readies to attack a pig.

Getting into using a whip, Jass trips another guard into the mud, as he intimidates the guards. (ooc: Juss just tripped F4 previous round so I think F1 was to be the new target.)

Acting quickly, Eclip again tries and fails to take the pig from the guard.

Creeping towards the sounds of pigs, Pathos tries to set a trap.

Frustrated by the pigs, Syr takes it out on a convenient guard striking him four times with force, but taking care not to break bones.

The guards react to the attacks by attacking the Shields.

Guard F1 stands and critically attack Jass.
Guard F2 punches Mac three times.
Guard 3 hits Syr twice.
Guard 4 stands and punches Jass
Guard 5 attacks Syr hitting with one punch.
Guard 6 tries and fails to trip Mac end face down himself.
Guard 7 tries to trip Syr and takes a dive himself.

The guards in the eastern pen move to aid their fellow guards. But are blocked by Brahmah.
One guard hits Brahmah with Stunning Blow (Stunning Fist, Fort DC18 or be stunned for 1 round) Other guards back him up.

One guard tries Intimidate Eclip in the eastern pen.
(ooc: Guard F12 had moved twice as far as it could carrying the pig last round so to account for the extera movement he had not movement this turn. Except to dropping the pig into the pen.)

Mac steps back and strikes the guard critically followed by two more blows.

Gio tries to trip a guard, but fails to hit with the whip.

The high pitched laugh of the dwarf climbs as the melee escalates. Most of the guards now leave the Shadow Guardians, rushing instead to the western pen, and the aid of their fellows. Not a few cast annoyed looks to the wall where Dander Stonebiter stands.

Suddenly, a bison, glowing with celestial light appears on the south wall. It charges the dwarf, goring him before he can react.

"CHEATING!" the dwarf wails. Distraction or not, none can fail to notice the coincident absence of Larien at the same time as the appearance of a celestial animal. "I TOLD YE THE DARKIES COULDN'T PLAY THIS BY THE RULES!"

At this, the guards in the pens look up and redouble their efforts.

Several figures in the crowd, guards as well, move in. The sound of blades rings out. Dander himself, being unarmed, can do nothing but flee, he runs around the corner of the pens, away from the Celestial Bison. "ELVARAN! Ye seen what they done! Do yer duty and protect a citizen of Floating City from the magic of those evil Dark Elves!"

Few can see, but Guard Captain Elvaran sighs. She points to her men and points them in the direction of the Celestial Bison. They draw blades and advance.

Meanwhile, in the pens ...

"Take him down." F1, the grizzled veteran gives instructions to F4 and leaves the attack on Jass to help with the attack on Mac. He moves in under the longer reach of the minotaur and takes a swing. (Hit Mac AC15, Damage 15hp)

F2, battered from the minotaur's fists, still steps in and trades blows again with Mac. (Hit AC29, AC20, AC17, Damage 11+12+12 = 35hp)

F6 stands from where he landed in his failed attempt to trip Mac, and he steps in for another try. (Touch AC37, Trip 20 vs DC20) This time, he gets the maneuver just right and trips Mac to the ground.

F3, set upon by Syr, shakes of the Stunning blow. (Fort 20 vs DC19) He retaliates with powerful blows of his own. (Hit AC21, AC22, AC14, Damage 10+10 = 20hp)

F5 attempts to grapple with Syr, taking the heat off of his fellow guard. (Touch AC30, Grapple 27, Grapple 25, Grapple 40 (crit confirm Grapple 40) vs DC24, Grapple Damage 4+4+5+6 = 19hp. Syr loses Dex to AC vs everyone except F5)

"Just lay down and you won't take a beating," F4 says to Jass. He steps out of the flanking situation between Jass and Grigory and aims some punches at the sorcerer to drive home his point (Hit AC28, AC18, AC14, Damage 6+4+5 = 15hp)

(Corvis, you need to make a Touch Attack in order to initiate a Grapple. You also provoke an AoO unless you have Improved Grapple.)
Still prone from his failed trip against Syr, F7 takes an AoO against Corvis when the rogue attempts to initiate a grapple. (Hit AC27, Damage 5hp) Caught, though, in the grapple, the stout woman stands and hits Corvis again with her fist. This time, she puts power behind the punch. (Hit AC28 (crit confirm AC18), Damage 16+17 = 33hp) The guard hits a critical spot with a single blow. That's gotta hurt.

In the eastern pen ...

"Out of the way! Out of the way!"

F11, one of the bullet headed brothers, having lined himself up with the opening between pens, now takes a run at Brahmah in an attempt to push the hulking minotaur out of the way. (Bull Rush 20 vs DC20) He only succeeds in moving Brahmah, however, five feet.)

F12, the other bullet headed brother, comes up from having deposited his pig in the holding pen, and lines up for a Bull Rush too.

F8, the tall blonde woman who had grappled Giovanni, gives a hesitant look back at the possibility of pigs. "A hundred gold?" she asks the halfling. "How do I know you'll pay up?"

As Brahmah heroically shakes off his Stunning blow, F9 turns to trip the minotaur. (Touch AC30, Trip 16 vs DC19) The guard misses his footing, and, is himself tripped Prone.

F10 takes a five foot step back toward the opening of the pen, and readies to trip anyone to the ground who tries to open the door to the holding pen.

> ooc: F6 cannot stand from prone (move action) and also take a 5ft step to trip Mac.

Standing from Prone is not actually a Move Action. It is a Move Equivalent Action. Drawing a weapon is similar. Taking an item from storage is, as well. All of these can be combined with a 5ft step.

Also, to the player running Mac, could you please specify to where Mac moves? He is now sandwiched between F2 and F1. There is no 5ft step that would take him away from both.

Tuesday January 5th, 2010 11:50:41 AM

ooc: Under Trip it states that, "A tripped character is prone. Standing up is a move action."

Mac moves to M/N 16/17

(ooc: Standing up does cost a move action, but it doesn't include any movement from your starting square. Therefore the 5ft step is still an option. It's based on how far you move during your round.
5 foot step - "You can move 5 feet in any round when you don't perform any other kind of movement. ... and you can't take a 5-foot step in the same round when you move any distance." There are a few more limitations too. DM Glenn.)

(ooc: corrections from previous round Brahmah did snag a pig as it ran past.)

Calling for help from Corvis, Syr punches the Guard {F3} four times using a Stunning fist before shifting back.

Taking several good hits, Jass tries to fake out the guard with a moustache as he shifts, draws and swats him with a Sap. (ooc: Using Bluff to Feint requires a standard action or a move action w/improved Feint. You hit the guard anyway without it.)

T'Shalla moves to backup Eclip.

Out of nowhere a Celestial Bison appears and charges Dander Stonebiter hitting the Dwarf. As the Binson attacks Larien cast magic and disappears. Her Griffon starts to walk about.

Corvis moves to grapple the guard F7 trying to to keep him out of the picture. (ooc: I adjusted and use the second roll as your grapple touch attack roll hit ac 19 vs ac8 )

Struggling with the pig, Belkior moves it closer to the pen.

Getting shoved by the guards from the east pen, Brahmah talks to them friendly like as he holds his invisible pig. (ooc: see note at bottem of your post)

The pigs still alluding Pathos he moves up closer.

Grigory holds his ground ready to stop the guards from going after Belkior.

Eclip shifts back and scooping up some mud nails a pig with it and making it easier to see.

The dwarf's enjoyment of the battle is interrupted by the charging Bison as it gores him. The dwarf runs squealing about Cheating calling on Captain Elvara to protect him.

Captain Elvaran sighs as she dispatches guards towards the Bison.

The Grizzled Veteran goes to attack the minotaur Mac hitting him once, giving Mac a AoO on him. Guard F2 steps up and hits Mac three times. Guard F6 stands and steps forward trying to trip Mac again this time it works.

Guard F3 shakes off the stunning blow and attacks Syr with his own blows. Guard F5 attempts to grapple with Syr and gets a hold of the monk.

Guard F4 calls for Jass to give up as he pummels Grigory with three blows.

Guard F7 Grappled by Corvis stands up and hits Corvis with her unarmed punches hitting him in a sensitive spot. (ooc: Wold house rules use a -4 to hit in place of AoO with grapples.)

In the Eastern pen the guards are still trying to get past Brahmah. One guard bull rushes moving the minotaur five feet. Another guard lines up. As guard F9 tries to trip the minotaur only to be tripped himself.

One guard questions Giovanni about his bribe wondering is he promise is good.

Guard F10 protects the one pig in the guards pen.

Mac attacks the guard F2 knocking him out then pounds on F1 twice.

Telling the guard he keeps his word, Gio grabs for a pig and getting lucky grapples it. (ooc: no pig at U16. Nearest one is AC18) The pig makred by mud sequels in protest.

Pig #10 tries to escape (escape:33), the wiggley greased pig slips right out of Gio's hands.

Pig #4 tires to wiggle free (escape: 26 vs DC17) the greased pig manages to free itself from Belkior too.

Pig #1 tries to free itself from Brahmah (escape 30 vs DC32) but fails.

The free pigs try to evade their hunters.

Listen of DC zero or Spot 10 give you a general idea of where the pigs are to within 1 square of the Oink sound.

OoC: Sorry, you'll have to trust the rolls as I've recorded them. I was logged out somehow, have way through my post. Only a fraction of the rolls I made were saved in the rolls window. -- Al

"SLANDER!" The dwarf screams in an uncharacteristically high voice. "I was doing nothing, and they attack both me and me character. I told you, didn't I? Dark Elves can't follow rules. They are incapable. Why do you think Matron Mothers rule with fear. That's why Darkies have no law."

"Invisible dark elf doesn't even have the stomach to face me," he laughs in the general direction from which Larien's voice had come, but the laugh holds no glee, serving only as a weak attempt to mock.

The guardsmen - both those officially sanction and those not - retreat before they even get started. There is the collective sound of the sheathing of weapons.

In the Western Pen:

F1 steps in five feet to attack the Prone Mac with wild and powerful swings. (Hit AC11, AC20, AC4; Damage 17+16 = 33hp) Mac is close, now, to unconsciousness.

F6 now slides in along the wall to take the minotaur down for the rest of the game. (Mac gets AoO vs F6 as he moves in.) Flanking across from F1, the guard delivers a power backed punch that just barely connects with the prone minotaur. (Hit AC10, Damage 15hp) Just barely, however, is enough.

"Suit yourself." F4 shrugs and ignores Grigory, returning instead to pound on Jass. (Hit AC31, AC17, AC19, Damage 5+4+4 = 13hp)

Syr has his problems too. F5 wrestles in the mud with Syr. (Grapple to Break Pin 24 vs DC24; Grapple for Damage 23, 30; Damage 4hp) The guard manages to break Syr's pin, but he is clearly no batch for Syr's monk's training.

F3, however, leaves the holding pen behind and comes to his the aid of his fellow guard. Coming around behind Syr, he delivers a powerful punch to Syr while the monk has his hands too full to defend himself. (Hit AC10) The guard, however, slips in the mud and his punch goes awry.

F7, the stout woman grappled by Corvis, still does not even bother to try and escape. She continues to drive powerful punches into the rogue. (Attack AC19, AC11, AC2; Damage 15hp) Only one punch drives through, but she hits hard.

In the Eastern Pen:

The tall blond woman finally comes to a decision. (F8) Rather than running to the aid of her fellows in the Western Pen, she heads across the Eastern Pen in the direction of the corner in which the bulk of the Shadow Guardian's are clustered. "One hundred gold for each pig into your pen, right? Gimme one of those pigs."

F9, stands up out of the muck and gets out of the way of the two bullet headed brothers working on pushing Brahmah out of the way.

F10 remains by the holding pen, guarding the single pig inside.

F11 continues pushing against Brahmah. (Bull Rush 23 vs DC19) The guard pushes Brahmah another five feet to the west. The path is almost clear.

F12 Joins his brother. (Bull Rush 26 vs DC19) F12 gets a running start and manages to shove Brahmah a full 10 feet. The way is now open!

ooc: not sure why Glenn said Mac was prone, but I clearly posted that he got up and moved back 5ft, which has been ruled as allowable. That would make his AC greater than 10 and therefore F6's attack would have failed to connect and Mac would still be conscious, though barely.

Mac was wavering on the brink of consciousness, it was inevitable. The foes placed against them were highly skilled in the arts of unarmed combat. If only he could have used his axe...

(ooc: Pardon the late DM post. I'll post late tomorrow to give everyone time to post.)

Grigory steps back from the guard to help Belkior with his pig.

The invisible Larien refutes Dander clams point out he isn't participating in the challenge. The bison vanishes as she dismisses it.

Mac's AoO hits the guard F1 as he attacked.

Going after a pig to knock out, T'Shalla hits it doing little damage.

Swinging blindly Pathos moves up to attack a pig. The fist misses, but the second fist luckily connects with it knocking it out. (Pig is in square AD17)

Syr turn to grapple the guard grappling him.

Getting hit by the grappled guard, Corvis attacks back hitting three times.

Still holding on to the pig, Belkior drops it into the hero's goal pen and tries to knock it out.

Talking the the guard, Jass declines his offer to give up and hits the guard

Eclip moves to help Pathos and Gio with the pigs, the druid strikes the marked pig knocking it out.

The dwarf screams of Slander and lawless dark elves.

Guard F1 and F6 pound on the prone Mac knocking him out.. (ooc: Sorry Mac didn't post that he stood. If he did he he did would have give the guard an AoO and he wouldn't have gotten a full round of attacks in last round.)

Guard F4 shrugs as he pounds on Jass three times.

Guard F5 wrestling with Syr breaks the pin and inflects a little damage. Guard F3 comes to another aid as he gangs up on Syr, but misses.

Grappled by Corvis, Guard F7 continues to punch hitting once.

In the other pen the blond woman guard F8 decides take Gio offer and help.

Guard F9 stands up and out of the way as Guards F11 and F12 pushes Brahmah out of the way.

Mac gets his AoO in before he slumps into unconsciousness.

Gio grabs the knocked out pig and makes for his teams goal pen as fast as he can. (ooc: can't run, but since the pig is out you get full normal movement after spending a move action to pick it up. You can move and drop it in next round.)

Pig #1 tries to escape from Brahmah (escape 20) but fails. The greased pig is held tight in the iron grip of the Minotaur.

Trying to mark a pig with mud then Pick a square and make a thrown range attack with -2 per 10ft range increment.

Disarming a Pig from someone else

Larien shrugs at the Dwarf's shrill reply, but no one can see it since she's invisible. There's no use arguing with a bigot, and Larien gives it up as a lost cause. She has probably made matters worse by showing this Dwarf just how small a man he is.

The wizardess thinks for a moment about why she's so angry at this particular racist. She's met more than her fair share over the years -- drow are often viewed with suspicion, and sometimes even hatred, across much of the Wold. And her disdain for bullies and loud-mouths has been honed for many years, so Dander annoys her on multiple levels. And yes, the contest is demeaning and stupid. But even all that combined shouldn't have made her lose her cool.

Only then, after stripping away the excuses does she find the real reason within herself. She thinks again of the wretched souls -- the beggars, the injured, the sick -- who reached out to her, who are living on the Trash level in misery while so-called heroes wrangle pigs on the whim of this stupid dwarf. If you can call their existence living. What kind of place is the Float that such horror is tolerated on such a scale? And what kind of people are we to play games when we should be doing something to help them? Tears come unbidden, rolling down her cheeks, and the wizardess moves slowly back toward Grif as she begins to consider what the Shadow Guardians can do here to make a real difference.

"Pig Dung! Pig Dung! Pig Dung!" Dander Stonebiter takes up the chant, punctuating it with another laugh. Though the guards down in the pens continue to fight on, some spare glances of annoyance up at the dwarf on the wall.

In the Western Pen:

"I've got the other minotaur. Help the others with the elf." F1, now that Mac is down, pursues Brahmah, attempting to steal his pig. (Disarm 39 vs DC28; 50% Miss = 77/Pass; Grapple Pig 31) The guard lifts the pig neatly from Brahmah's grasp.

The guards around Syr continue to try and hold the elf down. F5 looks close to unconsciousness, but he wrestles with the elfish monk none the less, pinning Syr and throwing the elf into a complicated hold. (Grapple AC26/Pin, AC24, AC17; Grapple Damage 6+5 = 11hp)

F3 adjusts the power of his blows, and attempts to beat Syr down before the elf can pummel F5 into unconsciousness. (Attack AC14, AC9, AC15; Damage 9hp) Even with Syr pinned by his fellow guard, though, F3 can only land one blow.

From across the pen, F6, F11 and F12 rush through the filth and mud to help take down Syr and Corvis.

F4 shakes his head. "You seem like a good sort," he says to Jass. "Nothing personal," the guard adds, and continues to beat down the sorcerer. (Hit AC22, AC14, AC15; Damage 5+5+6 = 16hp)

F7 also adjusts the power for her attacks in favor of accuracy as she drives home short powerful rabbit punches into Corvis' gut. (Hit AC31, AC9/Nat1, AC5; Damage 11hp) The first punch hits hard, but the others fail to connect well.

Back in the Eastern Pen:

F8, the tall blond woman gives Eclip a look of incredulity. "Why should I?" she protests, and then steps toward the space into which Pathos had just been attacking. "Why should I, when this one is right here for the taking?" (50% Miss 66/Pass to pick up Unconscious P12 in Square AD17)

F10 watches the blond woman as she prepares to play for the other team. His face is a mix of different flavors of hesitation, but he remains by the pen guarding the single pig inside.

Corvis can't help but think that Eclip's dragon hide armor is in serious peril but this whole mess doesn't seem to be going well. It feels more like they were asked to come here just so the dwarf could laugh and enjoy seeing the drow and such get beat up then some contest.

Continuing to grapple with the pig, Belkior puts the pig to sleep and then makes sure is has plenty of mud on it.

Looking at the pig in his hand, Brahmah decides to move for the shields pen. (grapple check: 41 & 26).

Ignoring the grapple, Syr punches and knees the man four times.

Standing outside the contest, Larien ponders the racist Dwarf.

Spotting the remaining pig, Eclip misses it with his punches, but points it out to the helping guard and Pathos.

Dander Stonebiter is laughing and singing about pig Dung.

The veteran guard F1 pursues Brahman and his pig, but can't quite catch him in time to make the steal.
The injured guard struggles to put Syr in a pinning hold and damaging hims as he does.
Guard F3 tries to hit the pinned Syr, but only lands one fist.

Guard F6, F11 and F12 move in around Syr and Corvis.

Guard F4 without malice beats upon the sorcerer knocking him out

Guard 7 punches Corvis once, and misses twice.

The tall Woman guard #8 rejects Eclips request and picks up the unconscious pig #12, Guard 10 just watches from his defensive point.

Jass mumbles something as he goes down.

Gio deposits the unconscious pig in to the Guardians pen.

Pathos sing a tune, steps up and strikes the pig once knocking it out too.

Grigory giving up on looking for pigs, moves to help Syr and Corvis

Frowning at the free for all, Corvis releases the guard and steps back asking how the dwarf got these brawlers here?

Larien finishes moving back toward Grif (she started last round), bringing her to O3. She whispers reassuringly to the griffon so he knows she's there, albeit invisible.

The wizardess continues to ponder the plight of those on the Trash level. She begins to make a mental list of the various temples and religious orders she's seen on the Float, so that she can politely inquire what each is doing (if anything) to aid those who are sick, diseased or hungry. Mage help would be good too. Perhaps there is even a coordinated effort already in place that can be aided. Magical healing, food and water purification and trash destruction (careful incineration via fire-based spells might be easiest) will all be required. Diplomacy not being her strong suit, she realizes she'll probably need Gio's help too. In addition, she'll have to ask the Crimson Shields what political consequences there would be for trying to "clean up" the Trash Level -- Larien recalls hearing that a so-called After Midnight Ulterior Court dispenses "justice" on the Trash Level, and wonders if they also have a vested interest in keeping the downtrodden down. Perhaps Captain Elvaran could be convinced to provide some reliable guard protection for "aid workers" when they're on the Trash level, if needed.

Now that she has a broad outline of a plan, Larien tries to think of other related scraps of information that might be useful (see Knowledge rolls below; probably not very helpful).

OOC: the 15 damage was meant for (and taken by) Jass - the DM post said that the fighter pummelled the Sorcerer, not the Wizard. And I've added the +10 instead of +9 (+7 +2 flanking)- reading the wrong column in the Stats sheet. Still, he hits easily enough.

The sorcerer sits in the mud, only propped up by the wall he's leaning against. By the welts on his face, he's going to have a very pretty set of bruises by tomorrow!

Corvis sees, for the first time, what Larien has already recognized, that this challenge of the dwarf's is little more than an exercise in humiliation. And Dander Stonebiter certainly seems to be getting the most of this contest. Even should his side lose, the test has still served to degrade the hated dark elves.

It doesn't seem, however, that the team of guards is likely to lose. Trained in all manner of non-lethal methods in order to keep the peace in Floating City, intervening between citizens rather than marching to war, these guards seem the ideal team to field in this sort of contest. But, what the nasty cackling dwarf might not have taken into account, is how little the guards themselves might dislike swilling around in pig mess themselves. At the moment, they fight on, driven by their own motivations, but few have happy looks on their faces.

In the Western Pen:

F1 catches up to Brahmah. F4, having brought Jass down, also moves on the Minotaur to give aid. (F4 Aid Another 23) F1, before Brahmah has the chance to realize that he's actually directly next to the holding pen, snatches at the minotaur's invisible pig. (Disarm 27, 18, 22 vs DC28) Even with the aid of F4, the grizzled veteran cannot manage to dislodge the pig from Brahmah's grasp.

Four guards gang up on Syr. F5 continues to hurt the pinned elf with his wrestling hold. (Grapple 28, 23, 22; Damage 5hp)

F3 pounds into the grapple with powerful blows, striking while the Pinned elf lacks the ability to weave and dodge. (Hit AC20, AC19, AC10, Damage 11+9 = 19hp) He lands two blows.

F7 piles punches on Syr too. (Hit AC24, AC22, AC15, Damage 10+10+11 = 31hp) He lands all three blows.

F11, fresh from the Shadow Guardian side of this game, also joins in. (Hit AC9, AC4 Damage 12+11 = 23hp) Less skilled than the other guards, this one still hits twice, and he shows that he can hit pretty hard.

Three guards surround Corvis, getting him into a flanking situation. F6 steps in and puts too much power behind his punches. (Hit AC12, AC9, AC15; Damage 12hp) He only hits once.

F9 and F12 from the Eastern Pen, flank Corvis and also attack with power. (F9 Hit AC28, AC12; Damage 10hp) (F12 Hit AC28, AC15; Damage 10+10 = 20hp) With power behind their punches, these guys hit hard.

In the Eastern Pen:

F8, the tall blond woman pounds through the muck to the Shadow Guardian holding pen. She holds the invisible pig in the air. "Last chance Stonebiter," she calls up to the dwarf on the wall. "Give me 150 gold or this pig goes into their pen!"

F10, watching the goings on, abandons the Guards' pen with the single pig in it. He sloshes to the corner where Pathos has been attacking a pig, and this guard grabs what should rightfully belong to Pathos. Eclip  d20+8=26 ;
Friday January 8th, 2010 3:37:31 PM

Cursing himself for being too slow as the small muscular guard snatches the downed pig from beneath his and Pathos' feet, Eclip grumbles at the guard "Why are you slogging around in this pig mud for that dwarf? You, me and everyone else down here is just feed his twisted sense of enjoyment in seeing others others wallow in the filth! Have the pig!

The druid moves to the center of the pen near Giovanni, "Giovanni and Pathos, Help me call this off, you know how to speak to people."

the drow then calls out to everyone "Stop the contest! The armor isn't worth having my friends beaten black and blue much less wallowing in mud! The only one who would benefit from continuing this mockery of a contest would be the bitter dwarf who can't see beyond one's race!" The druid uses his diplomacy (26) as best get everyone's attention in hopes that Giovanni can say something to get everyone to stop fighting!

Corvis takes the blows and frowns now as he hears all thats going on and a small idea springs to mind specially if the tall blonde is a fighter like these ones too, "Hey, she wants 150gps and I'll cover that. You three quit hammering me and give her a hand and you'll get payed too, up to you....beat on me or get some cash instead."

Corvis isn't trying diplomacy but simple offer and hoping maybe greed will over warrant a beating, specially since the guards don't look happy about rambling in a pig pen anyway.

Corvis also calls over to the tall blonde he hand been flirting with earlier, "Here me? 150 and I would really enjoy that date later too.....say the GG or is there another place you would prefer?" Corvis hopes his charm throwing at the woman still holds her interest from earlier.

The halfling cleric trusts that Brahmah can hold off the two opponents without his assistance. Belkior moves out of the pen and towards the corner where another of the pigs is sheltering. Once there, he listens and tries to spot the creature so that he can grab it. He isn't quite successful so he resorts to groping in two adjacent squares. He manages to pinpoint the pig on his first try.

Friday January 8th, 2010 9:59:37 PM

Moving after the pig, T'Shalla misses it again.

Still invisible, Larien moves about while pondering things.

Brahmah holds the pig tight, while looking for the pen.

Hearing a pig, Gilin moves close to T'Shalla and kicks at hit hitting once.

Call to Syr, Grigory attacks the guard F5 connecting twice doing a little damage.

Jass lays propped against the wall.

Guard F1 & F4 catching up with Brahman, fail to steal the pig from the Minotaur.

Four guards F3, F7, F11, F5 gang up on Syr. Guard F5 holds the elf pin as he and the others punch him seven or more times.

Three guards F6, F9, F12 surround Corvis and attack him hitting four times.

The female guard with the pig calls to Stonebiter for a better bid for the pig she holds.

Guard F10 takes advantage of the distractions to go and grab the pig from under pathos and Eclip.

Having had enough, Eclip grumbles to the guard then moves to the pen center to call for a halt to the contest. He calls on Gio and Pathos to help reason with everyone.

Unexpectedly, Gilin adds his voice to Eclip's calling into question the Dwarf's actions.

Heeding Eclip's request, Giovanni weaves words and Images of the shame and senseless of Stonebiter's contest. The Bard along with the help of Eclip and Gilin is quite Diplomatic and Convincing. (Diplomacy 40, changes Hostile to Friendly unless the dwarf can convinces the guards otherwise.)

Taking the guards' blows, Corvis offers cover the 150gp the blond guard is asking and the ones attacking him if they help his side.

Snorting at Corvis's offer, Syr calls for Corvis to keep focused on the bacon as the monk tires to break the guard's hold.

Belkior goes for a pig in the corrnor correctly hearing it and touching it, but the pig slips away (ooc: need touch attack, %miss and a grapple check. Pig slips away with an escape 29 vs DC17)

The pig struggles to get away from Brahmah, but fails again.

The other pigs try to flee if they can.

***** Pigpen Map *****

Listen of DC zero or Spot 10 give you a general idea of where the pigs are to within 1 square of the Oink sound.

"WHORE!" Spittle flies from the dwarf's mouth as he grips the rail and shouts down into the pen at the blond guard. "They're dark elves! How can you think of taking their filthy gold?"

In the Western Pen:

The guards' reaction to Corvis is immediate. As soon as he gives up the fight, they do as well. They watch the rogue, but the beating itself stops. All attention diverts, instead, to Syr and Grigory.

F9 remains behind to watch Corvis. He looks Ready to attack should the rogue's surrender be less than genuine.

F5, takes Syr's punch full in the face. His legs go weak and he slips, unconscious down into the muck.

F3, F6, F7, and F11 all crowd around Syr, pummeling him with their fists. With Syr no longer grappled, some of them ease up on the power for greater accuracy.(F3 Hit AC18, AC11, AC5; All Miss) (F6 Hit AC25; Damage 4hp) (F7 Hit AC23, AC23, AC22; Damage 11+9+9 = 29hp) (F11 Hit AC15, AC20; Damage 6hp)

F12 the second of the bullet headed brothers, steps forward and throws a couple of punches at Grigory. "Move off, Halfling," he adds, as though words might add greater incentive than fists. (Hit AC20, AC12; Damage 5hp)

F1, the grizzled veteran, and clearly the most experienced of the group, throws up his hands. He walks into the middle of the pen and points a finger up at the dwarf. "That's it Stonebiter. No more. The dark elves have a point. EVERYONE STAND DOWN! We don't lift another finger until Stonebiter gets down here into the pen himself." F4, accompanies the veteran, standing beside him in silent solidarity.

In the Eastern Pen:

F8, the blond woman has words of her own. "Wait! Wait, the pig's in the pen. See!" She opens the gate and throws the invisible pig into the Shadow Guardian holding pen. "Now where's my hundred and fifty gold?" She strides through the muck toward the opening to the Western Pen, and the unseen voice that had promised her 150.

F10 looks uncertain. He holds a pig, but is the offer off? A hundred gold is a lot of money. Without a word, he wades through the filth toward the Shadow Guardian holding pen, and the promise of potential reward.

Corvis glances towards the blond woman and then to the other two guards to make sure they don't attack as he speaks to the blond again, "I'll pay up just let us get out of the muck first, fair enough."

Corvis has all intentions of paying up but he doesn't say nothing else as he waits. Corvis is going to happy to get out of the pig pen though he hopes the others will stop fighting also.

Great Pig round up (DM Glenn)  d20+16=22 ;
Tuesday January 12th, 2010 9:25:13 PM

T'Shalla move out listening for a pig.

Listening to her companions try diplomacy, Larien waits.

Not happy with the impact of his fists, Grigory tries fight dirty, but misses.

Syr works to try and break free taking all his effort to break free from the pin, the monk hits the guard once hard. (ooc: looking at the Rd 7 map F3 was in range to hit Syr, so the 20pt will count making a total of 135. )

Jass continues to mumble incoherently.

Looking for the pen, Brahmah sees it next to him and drops the pig in scoring one for the team.

Pulling coins out, Pathos begins scattering them about, calling to the female guard.

Unable to penpoint the pig from the sound, Belkior spots something and goes for the pig missing the first time he grabs it the second time.

Gilin and T'Shalla waits to see what comes of Gio's speech.

Having deposed the pig, Brahmah goes hunting for the next one he sees Belkior has one and lends a hand and grabs a hold of a leg.

Jass mumbles some more.

The dwarf sputters and derides the female guard asking for more gold.

The guards stop beating Corvis, but watch him closely.

Guard F5 goes down with Syr's last punch. Followed short by Syr as four guards pummeled the monk.

The bullet headed guard punches Grigory warning him off.

The Grizzled Veteran calls the guards to a halt as the had enough of Stonebiter calling the dwarf down in to the pen in all the mud and muck. Another guard joins him.
(ooc: hope you are feeling better Al!)

Corvis reasures the blond guard than he'll pay up.

The pig tries to escape from both Belkior an Brahmah (escape 22) it slips out Belkior's hands not not the iron grip of Brahmah.

The remaining pigs try to stay away from any hunters.

***** Pigpen Map *****

Listen of DC zero or Spot 10 give you a general idea of where the pigs are to within 1 square of the Oink sound.

Gilin Underlane (AC15/Touch 11/FF 14 | HP 47/50) (Sheet) and Sonia (AC28, Touch 16, Flat Footed 26)(HP 23/25)
Tuesday January 12th, 2010 10:06:27 PM

That's it! Gilin thought to himself. He has had enough. Well, he'd had enough long before, but kept quiet out of respect for Eclip's wishes. But Gilin wasn't the quiet sort, and the limit of patience had been reached. He quickly said a few words, and gestured over himself, casting a spell of flight. He floated up and over to hover just above the edge of the pen at L19 and loudly addressed the surly dwarf.

"Now see here, Dander Stonebuggerer. My mother was far more fair-skinned than you, and twice as tall, and a hundred times as pretty. My drow father is a right bastard. I hate him, yes I do; not because of the color of his skin or his pointy ears, but because he enslaved and raped my mother. Say what you want about the color of our skin, or anything else. But despite your obviously slanted opinion, these drow are just honest free men and women like any others, and reasonable people. I have come to know them and respect them as comrades, and I can no longer stand idly by while you tar them with the same brush as men like my father. My druid friend came to you wanting nothing more than the opportunity to pay you good gold for honest work. While it may be true that you're the only smith here who can work with Dragon hide, Plateau City is only a bit of a wait in line away through the teleportation circle. I'm sure there's a smith there just as good." he reminded the cocky dwarf.

"You wanted to humiliate us, get us running through the muck and the mud and falling down after squirming, stinking greased pigs we can't even see... well, you've done that. A good laugh, I'm sure. But enough is enough. I'm no fighter. I'm a mage. And yet, to help my friend out, I got down in the muck and tried to help even though I'm totally unsuited to this type of game. I'm not especially strong, or especially nimble. I don't have any physical training at all. But I'm down here, kicking at midair and stubbing my toes on invisible pigs. That's what a 'dark elf' will do for his friends."

He looks around the pens at the poor guardsmen and women who are themselves covered in excrement, dirt, and various other unpleasant liquids mixed in with the aforementioned solids.

"I have never really known a dwarf before you. I've seen them around Hook City, sure... but I never really had a chance to talk with one. But," he added as he nodded to the fighters, "if this is what a dwarf will do for his friends, well, I am gladdened somewhat that I never had cause to deal much with them. However, I, unlike you, can still hold out hope that the next one I meet isn't possessed of your particular abhorrent disposition. You can't judge the whole cloth by the selvedge. Or perhaps in terms more apropos to you: judging all drow to be the same is like judging a fine sword the same as the pile of filings you find on the floor under your workbench; both are steel, but they hardly have the same worth. My friends, these It'Lal drow... they're nothing like my father. They're worthy people. I am quite convinced of their honor, their forthrightness, their trustworthiness, and their prowess. You, sir dwarf, have demonstrated precious little of any of these things."

Larien is taken back a bit when Dander yells a vulgarity at his own (former?) supporter, and downright stunned when the leader of the guards calls a halt to the "contest" and challenges Dander to step into the arena. And no sooner does the shock starts to fade than Gilin floats up out of the "mud" and gives one of the nicest speeches she's ever heard this side of a bard. How quickly the tide has changed!

Moved by the sorcerer's words, Larien dismisses her Greater Invisibility spell and calls out to him. "We're proud to call you a friend and comrade Gilin."

Covered in bits of mud and muck, Eclip smiles with pride at his companions and friends, "My friends, Giovanni is right I would feel shame in wearing dragonhide armor or any armor wrought by Dander Stonebiter. I apologies to my friends and companions for bringing you into this debasing spectacle. Let us withdraw from this field with honor pay the guards what they have earned, and leave the dwarf in charge of the mud, muck and pigs. I will find someone else who can make dragonhide armor worthy of being worn. Everyone guards include if you are willing to drink with a drow, I'll happily buy drinks for all!"

With that Eclip, moves through the pen to the west side where he cast a cure light on Jass (heal 11pt).

If everyone stops fighting then the druid will continue to cast what healing he has to bring those unconscious back to consciousness. Once everyone is back on there feet, Eclip will climb out of the pens using the drow innate magic prestidigitation to clean the pig muck and yuck off of himself any anyone else who wishes.

From Adversity Forged - DMAl
Wednesday January 13th, 2010 2:41:42 PM

The dwarf stands on the wall with a slack jaw look of surprise on his face. Everything had been going so well. How did this come to pass so suddenly? He looks down into the pit at the faces raised up to him. Not only the dark slim elfin faces, or those of the Crimson Shields, but those of the guards as well, the guards who had been his friends - though possibly no longer. Suddenly, it feels very alone up on the wall. Even the crowd of watchers that stand on the fringes have fall silent.

"Pah!" The dwarf throws up his hands and turns to walk away. A few short steps, though, and he stops. Folding his thick muscular arms across his broad chest, he stands - just stands - with a deep dark scowl on his face.

"Ye shame me." He turns back, facing the assembled players in his little game of humiliation, a game that seems to have backfired. His face clouds with doubt. "I ... ye don't know." Then he firms, and walks to the edge of the pen. "Ye've shamed me. I've acted wrongly and made meself the fool. I ... I'll make yer armor for ye," he offers Eclip, "if ye'll have me."

Down in the pits, the other guards, back away from the conflict, but not before F10, the small shifty eyed man, drops his pig into the Shadow Guardian holding pen.

"WOO!" The blond woman, whoops to the ceiling. "150 GOLD! Drinks are on me!" The guards collect their fallen. Not all, but many of them offer hands to either Shields or Guardians that are down. Both Shields and Guardians are invited to the Giggling Ghost this evening for drinks on the tab of the blond woman who's name, all find out, is Shevenly. The real money behind the festivities, however, will be coming from Corvis' pocket.

Some of the guards take up Eclip's offer of magic cleaning. Though, Shevenly, for one, declines, stating that no magic can equal a nice hot bath. And now that she has coin in her pocket, she can even afford a room at the Giggling Ghost complete with complementary bath.

Pathos takes a big run up, then slides head first into the muck. He rolls over and makes a 'pigsty angel'

"Well, it's not as if I could get dirtier."

"Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood.
So, follow me, follow
Down to the hollow
And there we shall wallow
In glorious mud!"

(Bard song +1 to everyone present, whatever they are doing!)

Seemingly forgetful, he leaves his coins in the mire, knowing that someone who needs them more than he does, will pick them out later.

Gio thought of an almost perfect line to give Shevenly, because he too needed a bath and wouldn't mind some company. But what would Lady Larien think? Bah! He told himself, you're just a friend... yeah, on the friend ladder and there was no getting off that ladder with Lady Larien, except shot down in flames. Get on Lariens bad side and she was the kind of woman who would rip your heart out, stomp all over it with her high heels, put it in an oven to charbroil it and then serve it to you with a smile--yeah.

As discretely as he could, Gio moved over to Shevenly to congratulate her on her prowess in the pen and then whispered sweet nothings in her ear--Lady Larien be damned!

Syr drops face forward into the muck as the last of the guards' blows land on him. He looks up with a close mouthed smile as the fight is called to a halt. "Good shot." He holds a hand up to the guard next to him to help him up. He stands with a glance over at Captain Elvaran to determine her reaction.

The halfling cleric gently releases the pig that he has just caught, letting it run squealing away to a corner of the pen. After Belkior does that, he looks down at his spoiled clothing and shrugs.

Before doing anything else, Belkior moves to treat Syr, Mac and any other injured or unconcious members of the Shields and Guardians. Once that is complete, he moves into the nearest pen and begins examining and treating the piglet to ensure that it awakes unharmed. He works his way from pen to pen, reviving all of the piglets that he can find. As he works, he mutters quiet soothing words to try to keep the piglets from being too startled.

Finally, after all that is done, Belkior looks around for a hand to help him up and out of the pen. Once he is out, Belkior heads directly to the nearest bath house and hopes that he will be admitted.

Seeing the dwarf admit his shame and offer to make the dragonhide armor, the drow thinks about if for a moment or two before replying, "Stonebiter, If your willing to continue looking past the shape of one ears or the color of there skin, then YES I will accept your offer to make the dragonhide armor!"

After everyone is cleaned, Eclip will talk to the Elven Captain of the Guards, "I hope you will give the guards a chance to redeem themselves and amend their ways before you sack them. After all they are very good in crowd control, and we all make mistakes."

The druid will buy a round or two of drinks at the Giggling Ghost later that day.

Jass AC 20 HP 25/70 (Mage Armor, Fly, Unseen Servant)
Thursday January 14th, 2010 12:22:03 PM

Bruises and welts heal on Jass' face and he looks up at Eclip's blue skin and red-and-green dyed hair. "You are the nicest backbiting traitorous drow I've ever seen", he says with his ususal humor. Jass profers a hand to be helped up, and, with the contest and the prohibition of magic over, he casts a quick spell and Flies out of the pit. He feels a little better as he puts on his various magical devices.

More spells follow until Jass is feeling more himself (Prestidigitation, Mage Armor, Unseen Servant), and follows the combined group to the Giggling Ghost. There he seeks out the moustashioed fighter and presents him with a platter with a cooked steak and a raw one. "You are also a decent sort", Jass says laughingly, and takes the raw steak to hold against his own eye, "though I would prefer not to have to box you or anyone else again!"

All's well that ends well, Jass thinks. The Guardians are friends, the trade agreements are doing well, the guards saw nothing personal in the fight since it was kept clean, and even Stonebiter learned something. He takes a pull of a particularly good ale. "Yes, a grand time!"

Everyone Out of the Pool - DMAl
Thursday January 14th, 2010 9:15:26 PM

The groups collect themselves to the strains of Pathos' song, picking themselves up, pulling themselves together, and cleaning up after the general muck and melee.

Shevenly gives Giovanni a wry look as he whispers sweetly into her hear. Then she shakes her head. "You're a brave little guy," she says, "a girl has to respect that. But I'm sorry, I just don't go for your kind." She leans down to whisper in his ear. "I like girls," she says. A good portion of the other guards who, knowing this already, have been watching with amused interest, all burst into good natured laughter.

Captain Elvaran catches Syr's look from the corner of her eye. She eyes the assortment of guards that had partaken in the contest, her eye assessing them all. Her look is firm. Some of these guards may yet find themselves out of a job, but from all appearances, not all of them.

Later, in the evening, at the Giggling Ghost, the three groups, guards, Shields and Shadow Guardians are served by a pretty dark haired girl, who's appearance is notable for its extreme translucence. Daphne, the ghost after whom the inn is named, ferries plates of food and drink between the tables, four or five at a time, each floating upon the air without visible means of support.

Captain Elvaran also attends, and when the subject of the poverty on Trash Level comes up, she admits that many people cease to think about it anymore, it's been the way it is for so long. There have, though, been active attempts to raise the level out of poverty, money poured into food and renovations. The attempts never seem to make an appreciable difference, as though Trash Level consumes the aid with a bottomless appetite. Current policy in Floating City is to try and raise the general level of well being for all of its citizens in hopes that Trash Level will rise along with the rest.

The next day finds Dander Stonebiter holding the green dragon hide brought by Eclip for the dwarf's examination. "Tis good workmanship," the dwarf says, holding the hide at arms length for a better view. "Well cured. Three days and I'll have a suit of armor for ye. Ye'll like it. I think I have an idea that will make ye proud to wear it."

Getting cleaned up and taking a luxurious bath, Gio later goes to the GG to meet up with the rest and drinks and eats as is befitting a hobbit--which means alot. Loosened up, Gio whips out his lute and plays a rousing tune for the patrons and his friends, old and new alike. "We go where the Council wills us, Jass. Where that is, not sure." Gio thinks about it for a sec, "By the way, you and your friends have been very hospitable, more than to be expected by far. I just wanted to make sure you knew that. Also, it gives us SG's a reason to build a HQ, just in case you guys come to visit, we can host you!"

Smiling at Jass' nicest backbiting drow comment, Ecip can't help but reply "You're multiple selves aren't half bad for a shape shifty wizard type." the drow chuckles.

Grabbing his dragonhide he deliver it Dander Stonebiter and listens to the dwarf as he as he talks about his idea, "Three days will be perfect, I can't wait to see what you have in mind."

Having talked to his fellow adventures, Eclip makes a stop by the Catacombs for more supplies. For an enchanting project or two to pass the time with until the armor is ready.

Some time during the day Eclip ask "Gilin, Larien or Giovanni could I get your help with two enchanting project in casting Disguise self spell and Feather Fall?"
