Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Friday December 18th, 2009 10:02:25 AM
Arm stands idly by, kicking at the ground and waiting for the current situation to be sorted out so they can decide what to do from here.
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6, AC15. Delay Poison} Friday December 18th, 2009 12:20:28 PM
After summing up the situation to Ed, Wynum expresses his worries: "Mmmm. We're pretty sure we found the caravan, but no sign of the pendant. Did you gather some information on this subject back in the city? Did the caravan people say something? Oh well... all this killing. I'm not even sure what we did. what do you think? These druids, they're always quite cryptic."
{Sorry guys Internet blackout, patchy updates for a few days}
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Friday December 18th, 2009 2:02:47 PM
ooc: pendant? I have no recollection of a pendant...
Thar AC 25/26, 61/70 hps, Mag Circle vs. Evil Friday December 18th, 2009 3:45:28 PM OOC - Jim W, we never did check out the tunnels past the chasm itself, since we climbed down it before moving forward. Are you implicitly telling us that there's nothing there? We never did find a lair and there was hardly any loot at all from this adventure... Anyway, just trying to clarify things...
Edmund Friday December 18th, 2009 8:47:07 PM
Edmund is idly tapping his foot when the party arrives, and he looks them over caustically as they approach.
"Keeping a fellow waiting!" he exclaims, before they explain what has transpired in the interim.
"Wil has been runited with his men," Edmund explains in turn. "Who are now in the care of the Temple of Domi and its acolytes. As for the shipment, I let Wil know that it was probably a lost cause. From what I've seen, it has been divvied up and is probably scattered all over the forest, this cave, and maybe even the entire Wold. If we find the magistrate's seal ((I am referring to the crest/pendant/shield thing)) it will be a miracle worthy of being remembered in one of Arm's songs."
"That--" Edmund quickly interjects, "Is to say that it is extremely unlikely! A bit like finding a needle in a haystack."
Turning to Revi, Edmund glances over her for a moment and idly toys with the idea of casting Grease on her--but then he thinks better (or worse) of it, and replies, honestly, that, "I've no such spell memorised at the moment, I'm afraid."
"What now?" he says. "Does anyone have a plan?"
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] Friday December 18th, 2009 9:19:55 PM
Ruby dropped the pack on the shelf that they are standing on and then points to it. I have not looked inside to see what is in there for sure, but what you are looking for might be in there. Digging in her pocket she pulled out a key on a leather thong and held it out. "This was on the one with Chloe, though I am not sure what it goes too." Glancing to Eddie she just shrugs her shoulders at them being late.
[Sorry guys. Just going off what I was told and that was that we searched out everything and collected all the stuff that was to be collected....I think. Of course we need to see what all is in the pack of course since Thar only glanced in it. Otherwise I am not sure what Robert has planned for further rewards or what.]
Temp DM JimW & DM Robert Friday December 18th, 2009 9:35:11 PM
Master Shadesh glances to Revi and then pulls her to the side. His council was for her alone and he did not want to others sticking their noses into it. Plus she seemed like a rather private person. "We all do what we must do, sister. Their deaths were of their own choosing and they decided to follow along with Chloe and the others." Shaking his head he laid his hand upon her shoulder and gazed into her eyes. "Not all those that follow the path of the druid are exactly the same and we each revere life in our own way. You chose to go after the unicorns when you could have went down the path that you though Chloe could have taken." Smiling he shrugs his shoulders again. "As for the armor, there is little that I can do for you. I know of no dragons that are already dead and not in need of their hide. As for Steelgrass, that can only be gotten in the Southern Continent and from the Manfri that live there."
Guiding her back to the rest of the group he spoke one last time and then smiled. "My council is to follow your heart, sister. If you feel that following the path of the druid is your calling than you need to do that. You don't need to follow that path to revere nature." He will allow her to think on that and he is right, the choice should be hers but all druids are different.
DM Robert: I've updated some info here from the druid.
There are seven beerbugs and the ettercap named Sofal remaining hogtied in the area. Shadaz asks that you spare their lives, and, as he requested previously, asks that he be given charge of 'his boys.' "We will learn to live together peaceably again. I think that this has already been a hard lesson for them. I will keep them about me with the strictest of requirements to prove their worthiness to me again."
Glancing to the rest of the group Master Shadesh nods his head once. "I thank you for the assistance and know that you did only what you had to do. There is a law to nature that all must understand, even though it is a hard one....Survival."
He stands by his boys, waiting to hear the fate of the beerbugs and ettercap.

It's that time again... There is 2025 xp for each of you. [edit] that should be 6025 xp for each of you [/edit]
It is also time to hand out Hero Points. Email me with your favourite bit of roleplay - whether it was an excellent combat move, great idea, good joke, or interaction between two or more characters.
Let me know which parts of this module you enjoyed.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Saturday December 19th, 2009 5:15:00 AM
Revi thanks Master Shadesh for his words of wisdom and has no problem with letting the beerbugs and Sofal leave with him--Edmund on the other hand, she just gives a sneer to in passing.
"Lets rest here for a while, I'll put up the fortifications in the hallway again so no one can come that way without alerting us, then let's go through all these stuff to see if the seal, or whatever it was, is in this pile of booty."
Thar AC 25/26, 61/70 hps, Mag Circle vs. Evil Saturday December 19th, 2009 10:05:07 AM
Thar agrees with Revi's wise suggestion and says, "Yes, I'll help you set up a barricade so we can look through this stuff in peace."
To Master Shadesh, he also nods and replies "Yes, I think we should give them to your care. Let me look over them quickly to make sure everyone is fit to travel and I'll do any healing that is required."
(I'll do Heal checks if needed, but it is just to make sure any wounds are covered, broken bones splinted, etc)
He'll do what he can also to help ID any items...
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6, AC15. Delay Poison} Saturday December 19th, 2009 3:01:49 PM
Thoughtful, but still ill at ease with the druid, Wynum confers to the others.
"Maybe... we should ask Master Shadesh about the pendant. I mean, he could question the beerbugs and other creatures. They might have noticed it - we might suppose it is memorable. Worth trying."
{OOC: DM, Are we correct in thinking that we explored all apparent exits in the chasm?}
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] d20+9=26 ; Sunday December 20th, 2009 3:02:05 AM
Ruby handed over the key if anyone was interested in it so that they could look at it. She was not going to be much help with the loot so she went to help with the barricade. When that was finished she found a clean space to settle down for awhile and just relax. She also wanted to work out some stuff in her mind about what had happened over the past day or so.
To help with that, she pulled out the long pieces of hair that she had gotten from the unicorns and started the process of weaving them into a bracelet. The progess was slightly slow, but she was use to it taking time for most good things to come together...which made her think of Thar. "We have not even known each other that long." Still in her heart she knew that they belonged together and she did like to see him happy.

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Monday December 21st, 2009 10:12:02 AM
Arm nods at Wynum and approaches Shadesh. He then describes the pendant to him as best he can remember, and asks him if he has seen anything like it.
Edmund Monday December 21st, 2009 5:38:28 PM
Edmund rocks back and forth on his heels whilst everyone discusses the situation and tries to work out what to do.
"Where there's a key," he opines, "there's a lock! Surely we must be able to find what it goes to around here somewhere. Do you know where they were staying? If they were living nearby, it seems reasonable that the lockbox would be there."
DM Robert Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 4:20:40 AM
OOC: I've been confused as to why you couldn't see what was so obvious to me. I'd missed a comma in my list of loot. Here it is corrected.
Mettik's Possessions: Boots, backpack, bracers, ring, rod, wand, another wand, 5 potions, strongbox, key on chain.
It is morning, and reflected sunlight fills the front half of the entry chamber. The beerbugs can be heard moaning and complaining from the barracks, their groans echoing down the cavernway.
Shadesh nods as he listens to Wynum and describe the pendant, which was described to them by Councilman Lynom four days ago. It is a lovely medallion that has a bas-relief of a roaring dragon on it. Shadesh nods and smiles and says, "Is it about this big?" joining the forefinger and thumbs of both hands to form a circle, "Never heard of it before. I hope you can find it." He chuckles to himself a little as he heads off to the Barracks to his 'boys,' "I'll talk them before we head off."
Revi and Thar walk with Shadesh into the Barracks and continue to the spider's lair. Here they begin to re-fortify the entrance to the Chasm.
Ruby holds the key, the strongbox, a black iron rectangular box 1' long, 5" deep and 4" tall, is on the floor next to the back pack from which it came. Julian gingerly attempts to open the strong box, (Wynum and Edmund stand by, perhaps hoping that he doesn't blow up, perhaps not) but it is locked, and there is no explosion. There is a clear seam where the lid raises, and a key hole. The lock and hinges are concealed within. There are no adornments or embellishments.
Cast Detect Magic to Highlight to display spoiler: { the box itself has no auras at all, there is clearly an aura inside the box -- moderate transmutation.}
You can hear Shadez loudly remonstrating his 'boys' in the barracks. He is speaking Goblin to them, it sounds rather aggressive: Speak Gobling? Then Highlight to display spoiler: {"You stupid little mortal imps, you spawn of toads and dwarves," some of the nuances of Goblin are difficult to translate since language is very cultural. He is not being particularly harsh on his 'boys' in terms of how you might address them in Goblin. "If you ever think to do anything like that again," and here he launches into a tirade of details involving removing digits, feet, kneecaps of their family in front of the 'boys' on their birthday. Then he starts to get nasty.}

Sorry I missed posting on Monday. I've had friends around for two days, and I forgot that I needed to do it before 3 pm local time.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 4:35:48 AM
Revi builds the barricade once more out of the pallets as she had done before, then placed cups and other noise makers on the structure, again, as she had done before. When satisfied that nothing could come through this area without notifying the rest in the barracks, she headed back to the group.
After rejoining the Order, she'll ask Eddie if he can lay down some spells to raise an alarm if someone comes through the front way.
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 6:43:00 AM
When Revi has completed her tasks, Arm asks her for the strongbox and key. He casts Detect Magic on it, and seeing that there is no obvious mechanical trap on the box itself, while at the same time wishing that Shadow was still with them, he chuckles at Shadesh's dressing down of 'the boys' as he inserts the key (if able) and turns it (also if able).
OOC: Thanks for the clarification on the items, Robert....I'm glad I wasn't the ONLY one who missed the whole thing...lol

Thar AC 25/26, 61/70 hps, Mag Circle vs. Evil Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 9:35:49 AM
Thar continues to refortify the entrance, though he does wonder where this amulet could be found. If they're lucky, it might be in that strongbox...
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6, AC15. Delay Poison} Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 11:22:03 AM
Breathing down Arm's neck (or skull as the case may be), Wynum peers down on the strongbox, eager with anticipation, while commenting uncontrollably: "Oh, the box, so clever, yes, maybe, but why in the box? Not around the neck? Is it locked? It is locked. Is it heavy? is it? Does it rattle? No! Oh no, don't shake it..."
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 9:50:27 PM
Ruby shook her head at the actions of Wynum and grinned. Glancing to the bracelet that she was working on she was happy with the way it was turning out. She looked at the others to see what they were doing and if her help would be needed.
She did glance up as Arm started to open the strongbox that he held and grimace. It was not like he would blow everyone up, at least not on purpose.
Edmund Tuesday December 22nd, 2009 11:11:03 PM
Edmund does his best to stay far, far away from the strongbox as it is opened, just in case it is trapped.
"Really, doesn't anyone have the ability to detect whether it is trapped?" he asks from a relatively safe distance.
DM Robert Wednesday December 23rd, 2009 5:32:56 AM
OOC Have a very Merry Christmas. May it be happy and peaceful and safe. DM Justin shall be joining us shortly. He is planning to keep us entertained between Christmas and New Years. You are all invited to post if you can.
Revi and Thar complete the barricade to the chasm, a much faster job since it was only partially deconstructed previously. They return to the others where Revi asks Eddi if he can cast Alarm to further warn against intruders from the Chasm.
Arm, bravely or foolishly, takes the key that Ruby has proffered and inserts it into the strongbox. Heeding Wynum's warnings he is very careful about it. Turning his head away from the box and grimacing against the immanent explosion, Arm turns the key and...
Nothing happens. He opens the box carefully and doesn't die a horrible death. Instead, he can see the amulet you have been after on a cheap silver chain-- a bas-relief of a roaring dragon -- or a poorly executed lion -- it is hard to tell. With your Detect Magic you can tell that it radiates Moderate Transmutation. There is also 18 diamonds the size of a child's marbles, and a small golden vial with a ruby stopper.
Despite Ruby's and Thar's good work Julian is keen to leave. He whines, "Don't we have some wagons on the road, waiting for us as transport home. I know Wil's other men ran off but we don't need them. I want to go back to a real bed. It's not yet lunch, we can be back for dinner, right?"
Master of the Forest, the druid Shadesh produces several coils of rope from a pack hidden behind his cloak, and hands it to Toothy. The beerbug loops a single figure-eight knot around 3 feet from one end as he walks to the opening of the cave. On the right-hand side he feeds the short end through an iron loop that has been hammered into the wall and ties it through forming a double figure-eight knot. The other beerbugs promptly, and with great military efficiency descend the rope one straight after the other. Shadesh bids you farewell, "and should you ever come this way again I should be more than happy to meet with you, and I'll try to ensure that the greeting is a happy one." He unceremoniously turns and steps off the edge and floats down at a safe pace into the warm morning sunshine.
It is a lovely warm morning, around 10 at latest. Birds are chirping in the forest just beyond the landing. A few small white clouds float past lazily.
OOC you have searched everything in these caves, there's nothing left to do in terms of the initial aims you left Plateau City with - Find Wil's men, and Councilman Lynom's heirloom.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Wednesday December 23rd, 2009 5:52:32 AM

Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6, AC15. Delay Poison} d20+4=22 ; Wednesday December 23rd, 2009 10:31:47 AM
"There it is!" the centaur exclaims, probably frightening a couple bats in the cave, "the heirloom, the trinket! Glorious! Sparkly!" Seeing that his enthusiasm is only mildly shared, he continues in a more subdued manner. "I wonder what it does? I'm sure it would change me into a Wemic. Or a Dragon. A dragontaur, that's for sure. Can we try it? Did he say something about trying it?" Laying its hand on it if possible, he toys with the prize.
Appraise check here, trying to gauge whether it is worth of being a magic item: 22
{OOC: Now, seriously. Wynum doesn't know Nystul, but there's something fishy here with the cheap pendant and Lynom's admonestations as to not identifiying the item. He said nothing about the rest, so we should double-check that vial. What other reasons he could have for putting us in this Dire Goose chase?}
Thar AC 25/26, 61/70 hps, Mag Circle vs. Evil Wednesday December 23rd, 2009 2:02:00 PM
Thar shows a humorous grin at Julian's whining, and says in a friendly tone, "Yes, we'll try to get you a hot meal if we have time my friend."
He watches Wynum check out the pendant and other items, and says, "Friends, I think it's about time we started heading home. We've done all we can, have completed our mission and I for one agree with Julian and Revi that a warm bed and meal would be good. I've also got some training to do with a longbow... Also, we need to go to the Catacombs and trade some of our items in, and distribute the cash amongst each member..."
He also gives his goodbyes to Shadesh and his companions.
He looks over at his beloved Ruby and adds with a smile and raised eyebrow, "I've also got some personal business to attend to back at our home..."
Once everyone is ready to go, he'll lead the way and scout ahead,
(OOC = 1. He's going to change some of his feats and move to a specialty with his longbow vs. short swords, to give us some more ranged ability vs future foes... I'll make these changes once we get back home. 2. In the past, Thar went with Shadow to the Catacombs and traded in our items and then split the money up among each member. If you all are OK with that, and since Thar is the unofficial treasurer, I'll have him do that once we reach Plateau City. .... )

Edmund is relieved that no-one has managed to blow themselves up... this time.
"Well, let's go home!" he says. "I can teleport us there directly! You'll all need to hold hands with me in a circle, and then we'll be in Mithril Manor before you can say 'Spliced into bits!'"
If everyone agrees, Edmund will use his remaining cast of Teleport for the day for this purpose.
((OOC: Thar as Treasurer always works for me. Also, Edmund is L.10 now, so I will be updating his char. sheet over the holidays. I may not be able to post often, but I'll do my best!))

"Ah, that's handy, thanks Eddie!" Revi was tired, real tired. She needed a bath, a hot one, food and sleep, not necessarily in that order. Revi latched onto Edmund's arm, pulled it in close and rested her head on his shoulder, her other arm was outstretched in case anyone else wanted to hold her hand.
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] Wednesday December 23rd, 2009 8:48:15 PM
Standing slowly with a bracelet fully braided out of unicorn mane in her hand she seemed rather happy. She also waved goodbye to Shadesh and wished him well. She could not help but blush when Thar commented about having personal business at home, especially with him looking at her. Slipping the bracelet into the pocket of her pants, she moved to the others.
Taking Revi's hand and then holding out her own, she could not help but yawn which occupied her free hand for a few seconds. "Yes, lets get home for rest and food. Maybe a hot bath as well to get rid of the junk."

OOC = Hey guys. I'm trying to decide on a feat for Thar and need some advice...
I'm getting rid of his old 2 weapon fighting and changing it with something else.... 1. He already has point blank shot, precise shot and rapid shot. a. An option I was considering is improved critical, so that may be OK... b. I don't have enough BAB for the improved precise shot, and many shot won't help me yet. 2. On the other hand, I don't have any feats to boost my cleric abilities (I'm a 7 cleric/3 ranger) and was considering: a. Spell Penetration to help me get through enemies' spell resistance? b Blind Fight to help fight invisible foes c. Maybe I could take a craft wondrous item or craft weapons/armor feat?
Any advice you could provide would be great.
Thanks Ken

With goodbyes made the group begins their travels home. The traveling is easy and uneventful which most are probably happy about. Some hours into your travels home though something does happen to break the walk.
In the distance you can make out and not hard even to notice, a large mastiff looking dog running in your direction. The dog looks quite large even for a normal breed but even stranger is on it's back is a dwarf with a red beard that looks to be colore half heartedly white and he wears a bright red suit. When he gets close enough to you all he pulls the reigns of the large dog, "Stop Fribit...whoa I say."
As the dog comes to a stop the dwarf pulls a pipe from his mouth and pops it against his black boot and sighs, "How did I get stuck with this....I tell ye, me and the boss is going to have words we are.....messing up me nice red beard with this muck and making me ride this over grown pup every where,,,an I tell ye not a snow flake in sight...live on a mountain covered in it and here I be without a flake to me name.." The dwarf now looks to you before popping the pipe back in his mouth and taking a long puff from it and speaks, "Now there...who ye be? Name please." THe dwarf pulls out a large book and flips through it as he waits.
If anyone asks who he is the dwarf gets a seriously shocked and hurt look on his face before puffing out his chest, "Wold wide tinkers magic delivery fleet foot service specialist number 4,452....well, more known as a season holiday service really but now now, name please."
(OOC: Greetings everyone and Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope I can keep things lively for awhile. I been told your between modules now so I will be giving you some down time and some fun things to do between them.)

Obviously Edmund lied about teleporting to get Revi's hopes up, she would have to spike his tea later on--she just couldn't decide between rat dung or horse urine. Stepping forward, "Greetings Master dwarf, my name is Revi. Do I need to sit on your lap?" Revi was of course still covered in dried blood and ichor, but gave the dwarf a playful smile and wink when she asked.

((OOC: I suppose Teleport isn't on the cards after all.))
Surprised that everyone doesn't seem unanimously in favour of the Teleport spell, so recently having proved its success twice, Edmund does his best to avoid grumbling about walking, and goes along with the party, doing his best to clean gunk off of his clothes from Revi's latest bout of madness.
After they run into the oddly-dressed dwarf, Edmund makes a grand, sweeping bow, and introduces himself as, "Edmund Eustace Greenleaf II, of the Windbourne Hills Greenleafs, Archmage of the Mithril Order, and Wizard-at-Large, at your service."
Introductions thus dispensed with, Edmund peers at the dwarf. "Delivery, you say? Who could possibly be sending anything to us--and how would they know we were out here?"

Ruby was still fuming from the fact that the drovers had left the horses hitched to the wagons. The poor animals did not even have a chance if some predator had come along to eat them. She had every intention of having a talk with Wil about this and it was not going to be pretty.
Seated in a wagon, driving, she looked to the strange sight and then shook her head. Glancing to the others she frowned and then spoke up. "Ruby." She did not say anymore and the name was the alias that she used but whoever had sent a package for them should already know that.
Halfling Julian AC 18, hp 52/72 Friday December 25th, 2009 5:28:30 AM
"Eddy, the Teleport sounds great, but we have wagons to get - from Wil Komen and mine. Let's go get them and travel back on the Safe Road. Julian and his badger are glad to be travelling back on the wagons - it was so very much worth the cost to enjoy the comfort.
To the Dwarf he says, in his turn, "Julian Roscoe Holle Pipewood Trufflefinder, of the Crescent Valley, G'sire. You won't find much snow here, unfortunately, but Plateau City isn't far, and you can get most anything else you want there. You could travel with us if you like."
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Friday December 25th, 2009 9:34:00 AM
Arm hands the diamonds and the vial to Thar, telling him, "You may as well cash these in as well. Considering the lengths and personal risk we've gone through on this mission stacked up against the relatively small stipend we are getting, it should even things out some more. After all, our "employer" didn't say anything about diamonds, did he?".
Later, as they meet the odd-looking dwarf, Arm chuckles to himself as he is reminded of Kadaz. He introduces himself with a slight bow, "Armathen Ebano at your service, sir.".
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Friday December 25th, 2009 10:52:55 AM

To the dwarf, he says, "Hello friend. I'm Thar ail Baerer and its nice to meet you." He nods at the beautiful mastiff and gives it a treat too.

He flips through the book more, "Darn not a one of ye in here....ohh wait maybe under Mithril Order." He flips hurriedly to another part of the book and nods, "Yep yep here ye be. I knew it I did."
The dwarf hops down in a thump and glances to Revi a moment, "An if I was only a few hundred years younger and a wife and girl friend less I tell ye lass." The dwarf flips open a saddle bag and begins digging in it..after a few moments he grumbles and he actually sticks his whole head in the saddle bag and then shortly he wiggles till up to his shoulder is in it....you hear small echos as he talks more, "Ahh come on, where are ye."
After a moment he comes back out and holds a few 2inch by 2inch square presents which he tosses on to each person, "Here ye be and happy present day." With this he steps up on his giant mastiff again and smiles, "Now off to Rattledam and then Ice Vein and so on."
When each person finally opens their gift you find a nice little suprise inside.
First each finds a small cake like roll that is filled with a type of cherry jelly. (Hopefully Revi is't too mucky :) .)
Arm finds a well made leather pouch inside his present. It's about twice the size of a normal belt pouch with a silver inlay of playing children on it and a small note saying, "Heard you like helping children."
Thar finds inside his a small silver bear figurine. It is standing up and looks to be growling in defense of itself. A note inside for him also, "I have heard you love animal and to protect them."
Wynnum finds in his a amulet with a design of a mythical sea serpent shown on it and a note. "I been told you love mythical things."
Ruby opens hers to find a silver hair clip. thats designed to look like grapevines and leaves. A note iswith it also, "Everyone woman loves jewelry and I been told the grapevine and leave design will hold special meaning towards you."
Julian finds inside his present a box of playing cards. This might not seem like much till he sees the maker name on them as "Selithe". Each card inside in specially designed with images of CV. Inside is a note also, "No toy master here but me Julian. Happy present day and remember me darling."
Edmund opens his gift to find a very nice pure silver tea set. A note is with his gift also, "I have heard that you are a man of comfort and relaxation. Enjoy some tea on me in your travels."
Revi opens her gift to find a silver ring with a phoenix inscribbed in it. A note also is with hers, "What to get a woman like you is hard. They say barbarian's need little in life but a strong arm and a good weapon. Everyone woman needs some jewelry though and from your past you have risen from those ashes and become the woman you are now. This gift represents that and Happy Gift day."
Now that all gifts are opened and the dwarf has began his deliveries once more it is time to hit the road with the wagons once more. Luckily you will be getting back home soon enough it looks like.
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Saturday December 26th, 2009 1:32:38 PM
Thar looks at his gift and smiles at the thoughtful present. "Thanks and Merry Christmas" he calls out to the dwarf, hoping he can hear him as he moves away...
He looks at the bear and admires it for a while. He turns to see what Ruby received and when he sees that it is a hair clip, he says, "I bet that would look beautiful in your hair, and I didn't think you could get any prettier, but I was wrong." He follows this up with a kiss and then steps back to avoid embarrassing her any more than he has already.
Once each party member enjoys their gift, Thar looks through their loot from the adventure and makes sure each item is ID'd. If anything is still left, he asks Arm and/or Edmund to help ID it...
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] Saturday December 26th, 2009 2:41:13 PM
Ruby opens the box and pulls out the hair clip, holding it lightly in her hands as she glances to the dwarf that gave it to her. She was not able to say anything with her throat closed off partiall, so she nodded instead. Looking back down to the clip she feels the beginnings of tears forming in her eyes and she turns her back to the rest of the group.
Her home was destroyed and the vineyards along with it. She loved the present that she had just received despite the memories, as it allowed her to hold onto them. Her old life had been lost and she was not sure if she would ever get it back or if she wanted it back.
When Thar spoke up she quickly wiped away the tears and glanced to him with a smile. "Thank you, mela en' coiamin." As he kisses her she melts into his arms, wanting the safety that he represents to her right now. Then he pulls away and she just smiles as she feels no embarrassment.
Edmund Saturday December 26th, 2009 3:05:13 PM
Edmund raises an eyebrow at talk of some organisation or group that knows the movements of the Mithril Order--and, indeed, many others as well! But, worry is set aside upon receipt of jelly rolls and a truly impressive tea set.
Nevertheless, Edmund remains suspicious of the jelly roll, and carefully examines it. "Could be poisoned!" he says, but then adds, "but why give us the other gifts if we're meant to die anyway?" Unable to figure it out, he eats the jelly roll and manages to avoid dying immediately--this time, at least.
Climbing back onto the wagon with his tea set, he spends much of the remainder of the trip examining and re-examining every aspect of his new, silver tea set.
Halfling Julian AC 18, hp 52/72 Saturday December 26th, 2009 5:06:01 PM
Julian is very glad to see the cake, and he quickly devours it. With his mouth still savouring the last bite he says to the bard, "You want your cake? I just thought that you didn't like this sort of thing... If you don't say anything I'll take that as Yes, you can have it Julian."
Sitting back he handles the smaller box softly, a deck of cards. He gave a set as a gift to Selithe once - she was a keen and very skilled gambler, and somehow deeper than just a good friend. He sits back and tries to hide from the world, retrieving a something from his pack. It is a small wooden box, unadorned and made with leather hinges and hasp. He opens it slowly and carefully places the new deck of cards in there before removing a hard wooden cylinder. He turns this round in his hands and his eyes begin to glisten. Setting this back in the box he retrieves a well made silver drinking flask inscribed with a picture of a halfling lounging with a pint in his hand. It was a gift from Selithe before the halfling comrades dispersed from the Crescent Valley. He cradles this like an infant for half a minute, then with the tankard in his lap he opens the deck of cards. Julian swallows hard as he slowly thumbs through cards. Taking in the images of the Crescent Valley he sniffs regularly. Around two-thirds of the way through the cards he closes his eyes and clearly wishes the earth would swallow him whole.
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6, AC15. Delay Poison} Saturday December 26th, 2009 11:09:47 PM
The roll is already in the Centaur's large mouth before Ed mentions poison. He just stops for an instant: "Mgh' allright. 'elay poisonn possion."
Still trying to figure out the red-haired dogtaur, right after the talking horned horses, he barely register the odd gift but soon comes to his sense.
"Well... a serpent. I take it as a sign. Reminds me of a dragon, and deceit. Maybe I am the only one not getting it but... What with the dragon pendant? Before we come back to town, shouldn't we think about this? Why were we sent into this perilous quest for a worthless trinket, by a city counselor? Was it a test? A ploy? A diversion to keep us out?"
{OOC: DM, what about Wynum's Appraise check on the pendant? Also, Ed, how could you teleport the 7 of us anyways? Did you plan on using the Reduce Person wand?}
Edmund Sunday December 27th, 2009 2:01:51 AM
((OOC: Reduce Person worked before, seemed reasonable to use it again, yes.))
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Monday December 28th, 2009 9:43:03 AM
Deftly catching the present thrown to him, Arm smiles and thanks the little dwarf, "Thank you sir, and a happy holidays to you as well, with wishes for safe travels.".
His smile broadens as he beholds the new belt pouch. Realizing how hungry he is, he pops the roll into his mouth and chews contentedly, but not without a sidelong glance at Julian as if to say, "Sorry, one per customer.". Once everyone has opened and admired their new gifts, he says "Well, we'd best be off for home...the quicker we get there the sooner we can relax and get something to eat.".
OOC: Sorry Thar, no identify spell here...unless we have a scroll I can read from. :)
Justin Webber (Co-DM) Homeward bound and suprise on the way Monday December 28th, 2009 10:19:42 PM
(OOC: Getting info here so please bear with me here. First are you wanting to ID all the magical items beforeh eading to the CC? Also what exactly is Wynnum, what exactly are you trying to find out about the pendant for sure? I believe it was suppose to be some family heirloom which means it probably looks quite normal or maybe is?)
The gifts are opened and the jelly rolls ate, even Edmund eats his after commenting it could possibly be poisoned. However so far Edmund still feels no effect of poison or the such.
Julian on the other hand breaks down into tears over the gift given him also.
The group finally though begins moving with a Edmund very intent on his brand new silver tea set...as the group moves along closer to the city and time passes with him staring at the tea set it doesn't move...doesn't move...doesn't move...wait he thinks it might of moved but then again it could be his mind playing tricks on him from all the staring.
Finally not long at you finally reach tge city which actually seems like it is in quite a bustle. You see some children running around passing out sheets of paper and people talking. One kid runs towards you and waves you all down, "Hey wait wait...Some nice lady has asked all of us kids to help pass out something so here if you take one." You can about guess that the kid's aren't just doing this paper passing for nothing actually. The paper handed over to you is brightly printed letters that a highly skilled gambler is in the city and that all are welcome to come visit her place.
The picture on the paper should get Julian's attention more as it looks like a halfling with platinumn colored hair.
Now that your home though you have things to do though, talk to Wil, see about the paper being passed out, etc.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Tuesday December 29th, 2009 4:17:40 AM
Revi really enjoyed the jelly roll, but probably not as much as Jules did. She wished she had said something smart or witty to the gift-bearer, other than "Thank you", but words were not her forte, actions were.
Looking at the paper, Revi handed it back, "No thanks, not much into gambling, I only bet on sure things," smiling and patting the new quiver on her back.
"Let's get back to Wil, split the treasure and whatnot, then I guess we'll part ways." Looking at the rest, "Well, I was only hired on to help you guys with this task and no more, so I guess I'm done. That is, unless you wouldn't mind me sticking around and ya know, becoming part of your Order. I wouldn't mind, got no plans which way or the other."
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Tuesday December 29th, 2009 11:04:09 AM
Arm takes one of the papers, and ponders if he should participate...it's been quite some time since he gambled, but he does have interest in it.
Looking abashed at Revi, he says, "Of course you're welcome to stay on, my dear. We are definitely in need of a fighter of your caliber, and we have more than enough room at Mithril Manor for you.".
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Tuesday December 29th, 2009 1:49:34 PM
(OOC = Yes, I was waiting until we ID'd everything before having Thar go to the CC to sell what we don't want... That would save us some money in ID'ng costs...)
With a shocked expression, Thar looks at Revi and says, "I'm hurt that you would expect anything else but an invitation to our order. As my friend here said, you are welcome to join us and I would be honored to continue fighting by your side."
Thar looks at Ed and says, "Hey Edmund, do you have the ability to ID any of the other loot we've gathered? I hate to spend the 100 gp/item to get them ID'd... Otherwise, I'll take our stuff to the CC and then we can split up the proceeds..."
Edmund Tuesday December 29th, 2009 2:08:36 PM
((OOC: The Identify spell itself requires reagents of 100gp in value, so it will cost that amount regardless of who casts it. Also, still dealing with lots of holiday stuff here so my character sheet is not done yet. It's hard enough even finding the time to post! Hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable holiday.))
Edmund shakes his head. "It will be no cheaper for me to identify them, as I would have to buy a bunch of pearls at 100gp each, per item," he says. "And we'd have to wait until tomorrow as well, as I haven't memorised it for today. Sorry!"
The wizard is happy to be home and proceeds to get a great deal of use out of his tea set--in addition to a lot of studying.
Halfling Julian AC 18, hp 52/72 Tuesday December 29th, 2009 3:58:48 PM
Julian stares at the picture on the paper and wonders if it really is Selithe, or is it just his memory playing tricks on him. "I think I'll go to this."
He still mopes about, very introspective.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Tuesday December 29th, 2009 6:45:34 PM
"Thanks guys!" Revi says in reply to Arm's and Thar's responses and smacks each soundly on the shoulder, really hard.
Ruby [HP: 72/74 - AC: 25(26dodge)(cover)][] Tuesday December 29th, 2009 7:06:52 PM
Ruby looks down from her spot driving the wagon and then takes the flier from the kid. As she looks it over she shakes her head, not sure if she is that interested in the fun offered. Glancing to Thar, she figures if he decides to go that she will too. First though she wants a hot bath and food, maybe a massage as well.
Glancing to Revi she shakes her head. "It will be nice to not be as outnumbered by the guys." She missed the friendship she had been forming with Kristen and she had left suddenly. Not that she expected she would maybe become that good of friends with Revi. For some reason she feels that she is too different from the young barbarian.
"Home of to Wil's place first? I would really like to get this wagon back to him though." She did not want to keep it with them if she could get rid of it. At least then they would not be responsible for it.
Justin Webber (Co-DM) Homeward bound and suprise on the way Tuesday December 29th, 2009 7:52:54 PM
The group looks over the paper and some looks to be interested in the flyer and others not so much. Taking things in order though the group first heads to see Wil.
When you reach the emporium you are shortly met by Wil who was taking some of buisness before meeting up with you. He smiles when he sees you and offers you a place to sit and relax as he speaks, "Well, you all have returned so I'm taking it everything went well?" Wil sits and listens to everything, taking in the info on how everything went, "I'm glad to hear you were able to get back with the wagons ok and even more so to see you returned with the gamily heirloom I wanted."
Wil listens more to anything that is said and will offer comments and such dependingly. However Wil will also be offering to take the group to the place mentioned in the flyers, mentioning that he had heard the place serves drinks and food as a special opening advertisement to bring in people.
(OOC:Not trying to rush thing. I will put brakes on you all going out till the coversation with Wil is handled fully. No worries.)
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Wednesday December 30th, 2009 9:41:43 AM
Arm says to Thar, "Let me know what happens inside." as he stands by the door and waits for the rest to finish their business with Wil, having no intention of dealing with an orc at the present....half or otherwise. Rubbing his tender shoulder where Revi walloped it, he briefly wonders if he made the right decision by inviting her to join the Order, but the thought passes quickly as he decides to someday purchase some padding for his shoulders.
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Wednesday December 30th, 2009 10:18:26 AM
To Arm, he replies with a smile, "No problem. I'll give you an update once we're done."
Thar looks at the flier, but the idea of going to a gambling establishment makes him very uncomfortable. He frowns and says to his colleagues, "If you all want to go and gamble at that place, go ahead, but it's not for me. I'll go to the Cats and check things out in the meantime. I can meet you later at our home."
To make sure he understands the flier correctly, he asks Wil some more information about it. "Is it primarily for gambling or is it merely a tavern?"
To Ruby, he says, "Would you like to go with me to the Catacombs meanwhile?"
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6} Wednesday December 30th, 2009 12:48:40 PM
{Justin, Wynum is a centaur, and what he was trying to do is appraise the craftmanship of the pendant. It had been described both as "a family heirloom" and as having a rather cheaply made engraving. So I wanted to know whether it was of good quality. I rolled around 20 if I recall correctly. Btw I think the pendant itself was to be given to councilman Lynom, not to Wil, so we'd hang to it for now.}
Wynum seems to have an interest in the leaflet but prentends not to. "I'll go with you Julian, while the other care about the items. I'm not against some distraction. Also I think I will need time to craft me some arrows. By the way, you need to show me your falchion."
Finally seeing that Julian is quite lost in his thoughts, however, he shuts up.
Edmund Wednesday December 30th, 2009 2:36:15 PM
Edmund spends much of his time studying, and in the process finally discovers how to make some of his defences at Mithril Manor permanent. Before he does this, however, he will need to speak with the other members.
Penning them each a note in a rather elaborate and spidery script, he asks them each to write down one particular suggestion they have for increased security. "I can't promise that I can do everything," his note reads, "but I'll do my best to take all suggestions into account!"
As for games of chance with money at stake, Edmund frowns sternly at the mere suggestion he participate. "Gambling," he declares firmly, "is a tax on the mathematically inept. I prefer to keep my money where it is safest: in my pocket--and to trust it with those who will use it best: me."
Edmund Wednesday December 30th, 2009 3:05:30 PM
((OOC: Header updated to link to new character sheet.))
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Wednesday December 30th, 2009 5:33:23 PM
"Well, if the rest of you want to go to this gambling house, I guess I'll tag along--but I'll need a dress." Revi stood there looking at the others, "I'm not going in my armor, come on guys! Geez." Revi waited impatiently for the talks to be over, she seriously needed a bath.
Ruby Wednesday December 30th, 2009 8:00:03 PM
Smiling, Ruby nods her head and slips off the wagon. "Sure, I would love to go to the Catacombs with you." Slipping her arm through Thar's she is more than ready to go where ever it is that he wants to go. As for the gambling, she does not really mind though she is hoping that the food will be good there.
"I don't mind going to the Catacombs like this, but a both and change of clothes are most definitely in order before we go anywhere else." Glancing to Edmund she smiles and shakes her head. "My dear Edmund, there are other reasons to go to a place than to gamble."
DM Robert - Appraise Check Thursday December 31st, 2009 1:07:25 AM
Wynum has a good look at the pendant. It has a bas-relief dragon on one side, though the artwork is above the skills of the average centaur (or human), it has flaws. The alloy mixture is slightly pale for a decorative brass item, and there are some very small cracks in the pendent near one edge, where perhaps it was dropped onto a hard surface. The back of the pendant shows some bubbles from a poor casting method of the original disc.
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Thursday December 31st, 2009 10:33:46 AM
Arm resolves that he shall go to the gambling event, but will only take 100gp with him....that way he will not bankrupt himself on such doings. First and foremost, he will take a bath and grab something more substantial than a jelly roll to eat.
While he waits for the talks to finish up, he surveys his surroundings...observing but not appearing to do so.
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6} Thursday December 31st, 2009 11:55:17 AM
Halfway to the parlor, Wynum changes his mind, as the day takes its toll on its meager strength and he goes back to the manor to have a rest, and a talk with Edmund, and anybody who happens to be there.
"The more I think of it, the less I like this situation. I think we should break our word and identify this item. In fact, you should do it, Edmund, so that we do not reveal things to other people. Could someone detect that we did identify it? I wouldn't want the order to be accused of stealing the real heirloom. We've been had in the past, and I do not trust this councilman that much. As for the defenses, obviously detecting creatures in disguise who enter through our door, would be great!"
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Thursday December 31st, 2009 12:45:26 PM
Thar says with an embarassed grin, "Oh yes, of course we must change and I apologize for overlooking that. I'm so used to going everywhere with bits of treebark, leaves and grass on my clothes that I forget the importance of a good bath and change of clothes. Thanks for reminding me."
He walks with Ruby, Wynum and whomever else wants to go back to the manor. To Wynum, he says, "I think it's OK to identify the item, especially because it seems that something may be fishy here... We can have it ID'd at the Cats if that makes you feel better..."
Once at the manor, he walks Ruby to her room, gives her a passionate kiss and then says with a longing expression, "I'll see you in a bit, once I've bathed and changed. If you need anything, please let me know."
Edmund Thursday December 31st, 2009 2:45:30 PM
Edmund becomes rather irritated with the other members of the order as they continue to fool with the crest.
"I'm fairly certain he wasn't having us on," Edmund says. "Moreover, he specifically requested that we do not pry into the nature of the crest. By all appearances, it is perfectly ordinary in every way. It is not particularly well-made, nor even in excellent condition, and radiates no strong magic of any sort. Leave it be. I'm not in the habit of lying to those who employ us--especially when they've given us no reason to distrust them."
((OOC: I think you may be reading too much into the word 'flaws' and the description of the item. I'm fairly certain that DM Robert is simply pointing out that it is of fairly average quality--not that it is suspicious or somehow not what it should be.))
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Thursday December 31st, 2009 5:36:14 PM
Since the group was resolved to go to the gambling house, Revi stopped at a dressmakers and picked out a very nice dress. "Yes, I'm dirty. Don't tell me I'm not welcome here. I have money and a big friggin sword so which would you like, the 100gp for the dress or my sword in your gut? Thought so."
Revi makes it back to the Manor, picks out a room and takes a long hot bath. When she is done she comes to the main room, hair swept back and wearing an elegant form-fitting black dinner dress replete with sequins forming the night's contellations. "Could someone button me up?" Turning around the backless dress was cut so low that the top of her posterior showed.
Edmund 2nd post Thursday December 31st, 2009 5:47:12 PM
When Revi descends in a dress and asks for someone to button her dress, Edmund glances up at the interruption, tearing himself from his studies in his spellbook. When he sees the barbarian, he purses his lips, his ears turning bright red.
"I say!" he says, and with that he grabs his spellbook and stomps up to his room, muttering something along the lines of, "simply unbelieveable," and, "well, I never!"
DM Robert - Appraise Check Thursday December 31st, 2009 6:02:57 PM
OOC - just a reminder, I had previously said that the pendant radiates Moderate Transmutation...
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Thursday December 31st, 2009 6:14:48 PM
"Did Edmund just say, 'I'll be in my bunk'?"
Edmund 2nd post Thursday December 31st, 2009 7:16:46 PM
((Robert: Where does Moderate figure in the list of magical strengths? It's the lower end of the middle, yes? Such as would be typical for a L.3ish spell?)) Yes, that is a correct example
Ruby Thursday December 31st, 2009 8:04:53 PM
Ruby was more than happy to finally get home and when the entered the manor, she sighed in relief. They had made it through a mission and gotten back alive from it. Glancing to Thar as he walked her to her room she smiled.
Stalled at the doorway after the kiss, she finally came back to reality long enough to step back inside. Watching him as he walked away, his words only barely registering...she nodded. She could think of more than a few things that he could have done for her but she did not ask.
Fifteen minutes later, she slipped down the stairs in a plain light blue dress. "Wow, you are looking good Revi." Smiling she patiently waited for Thar to come down, fidgeting slightly as she waited and playing with the bracelet on her wrist.
Halfling Julian Thursday December 31st, 2009 10:03:08 PM
Julian also gets dressed up for the gambling. He comes out dressed in a three piece suit - the waistcoat of which is elaborately embroidered with a Dire Badger fighting off 5 kobolds in a forest.
OOC I need some of the booty if we are to go gambling....
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Thursday December 31st, 2009 10:18:59 PM
Since no one had offered yet, and Jules was looking quite handsome in his suit, Revi went over to Jules, knelt down and turned her back to him, "Jules, be a dear and button the back of my neck thingy on my dress?" Jules had a full shot of Revi's back, all the way down her spine and beyond.
Halfling Julian Thursday December 31st, 2009 10:52:03 PM
Julian buttons Revi's dress. He is a little misty eyed as he thinks of the gambling, wondering if it is Selithe. She knew he was moving on to Plateau City, has she come here hoping to find him?
Halfling Julian Friday January 1st, 2010 4:40:00 AM
OOC: sorry Wynum, I missed this bit
Julian is more than happy to show the centaur his falchion. "Its called EagerTooth, after a wyvern we halflings met and befriended. At that time I learned the value of not killing everything that moved. See the runes here, that is what gives it the non-lethal damage trick. I kinda like it, but I might see if I could add Frost or Fire to it as well."
DM Robert - washing up Friday January 1st, 2010 5:52:26 AM Wynum has a good look at the pendant. OOC - just a reminder, I had previously said that the pendant radiates Moderate Transmutation... Thinking about this brings Wynum to raise a very pertinent question, "The more I think of it, the less I like this situation. I think we should break our word and identify this item. In fact, you should do it, Edmund, so that we do not reveal things to other people. Could someone detect that we did identify it? I wouldn't want the order to be accused of stealing the real heirloom. We've been had in the past, and I do not trust this councilman that much." Thar agrees that it should be Identified, and offers to take it to the Catacombs for that purpose. Edmund disagrees, and reminds the others that the Mithril Order was requested to not investigate the nature of the heirloom. He doesn't want to break the trust of his employers.
OOC I think this is very important.

Arm waits outside as the Mithril Order debrief with Wil in his Import/Export Emporium. It is a roomy showplace in the Merchant's Quarter of the City. His place stocks all kinds of handcrafted and kitschy items that are popular with the general public. The shop is full of eye-catching and vibrant displays, with several very charming sales clerks ready to help their customers make purchases. Wil is a little gruff in some ways, and though the orc tusks are only visible when he talks and laughs, he is obviously very gregarious and amicable. "Speaking with the Healers, they say that my main caravaners will be fine. They had been fed upon by spiders, is what they figured and, of course, it matches with what you've told me. "I'm more than glad, I can't really express how grateful I am that you were able to find and rescue my workers -- and so are their families, no doubt. There is really nothing that can express the gratitude of all those who love the people you saved, but here is a little something. Here's something I can give to the Mithril Order." Wil retrieves a small wooden chest from a larger crate. He hands it to Julian, who happens to be closest and says, "Its not a lot, having been down my main caravaneers for nearly two weeks has cost me a lot financially. It's pretty fun though, even here on dry dock. Look, open it." Julian opens it and says, "Err, its empty. Is that the fun bit?" "Cheeky. Now watch -- HAZIPAN," he says firmly at the box, "Strange, I know. But watch." The box closes by itself, then begins to unfold in Julian's hands. "Hey watch out, Jules. Put it down and step back," he warns Julian. The box unfolds and unfolds some more, well beyond the limits of the small box Julian once held. Soon it is a boat 10 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 2 feet in depth, with one pair of oars, an anchor, a mast, and a lateen sail. "There's another word will form it into a small ship, about 24' long. And better yet, it will store -- HAZIPAN," and this time the boat refolds into a box, "it will store things like a normal box and they are there in the boat when you need it. "The other command word, for the larger boat, is, I'll spell it so it doesn't unfold in here, G. E. R. H. A. L. D. Don't forget it. I hope it helps you."
Wil then talks about the flyers and the gambling. "The gambling begins later tonight. It's in a tavern, they do this gambling thing once or twice a year, though it has been two years since the last one. I'm hoping to regain some coin-flow to help the business. And I often meet new customers too, it's great advertising just being there. "I'll meet you here at sundown. I know the hosts and we can walk straight in together, if you like."
Thar declines the offer to go gambling, instead asking Ruby to accompany him to the Catacombs. Wynum says that he will go to the gambling for a distraction, asking Julian if he will go along as well. The Halfling agrees to.
Edmund asks the Mithril Order for suggestions to secure the Mithril Manor. There's a few blank faces at first, but Edmund stares them all down till some ideas flow. OOC: this is important -- I'm not going to let it be glossed over. Wynum suggests that detecting creatures in disguise who enter is something to research, and Edmund records this in his spidery handwriting.
The half-elf mage then remonstrates the very idea of gambling.
Revi reluctantly agrees to go gambling, and perhaps the idea of wearing a nice dress became her main motivation. On the way back to the Manor she threatens a dress maker with a nasty sword gash, then politely pays him for a black, sequins strapless dress. She then takes a long hot bath in the Manor, and descending in a dress requesting a hand leaves Edmund feeling a little... well, he stomps up to his room to continue his studies.
Ruby would walk through fire and flames if that is where Thar was going. But first, she wants a bath and a change of clothes. She suggests to Edmund that there are other reasons to go to a house of gambling. She has a brief moment with Thar before getting ready for the night. Emerging in a pale blue dress she compliments Revi as she nervously fidgets with her unicorn-hair bracelet. The two females are a stunning pair.
Julian dresses up in his suit -- the waistcoat is embroidered with a dire badger fighting some kobolds. He helps Revi with his dress, and despite the obvious temptation his mind is still faraway -- perhaps somewhere wet as his eyes are leaking slightly.
Waiting for the time to pass Julian shows his falchion to Wynum and prattles on about its history. The pantries are opened, kettles are boiled and the dirty crockery piles up in the kitchen. The sky is turning pink and then red as the sun sets. It is time to go meet Wil at his Import/Export Emporium. Who is going? And who is staying to wash the dishes?
Halfling Julian Friday January 1st, 2010 6:33:30 AM
Julian has little interest in the pendant overall. "It is his heirloom, he's offered to pay us for its retrieval. That's all I need to know."
He is, however, quite excited by the box-boat. "Now, that is cool."
Regarding Manor security: "Eddy, how about Explosive Runes put here and there in the Manor? but tell us where they are first."
"Thar, before you go the Catacombs, what can we divvy up of the loot so far? I'd like some coin to take with me. I've not much to spare since the beerbugs were attracted to Revi."
"Revi, have I handed over the 200 gp balance yet? I know I keep forgetting. It would be as 20 pp, if that is acceptable. That leaves me enough for gaming, without losing too much."
He is cheering up as time draws near to leave. "Maybe it really is Selithe. I've been thinking to go find her... We shouldn't have disbanded the way we did. I probably should still be in the Crescent Valley with the halflings."
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Friday January 1st, 2010 11:34:28 AM
Arm returns to the Manor with the rest, and gets his bath and food in turn. He dresses in one of his finer performance costumes, and makes sure to only take the 100gp with him that he set for himself.
Overhearing Julian's comment about security, Arm agrees, "That sounds like a very good idea, but yes we'll need to know where they are.".
Once the group of gamblers are ready, he will head out with them.
Edmund Friday January 1st, 2010 11:38:39 AM
((OOC: Will try to get a post up this evening once more people have posted with their suggestions. Keep in mind that Ed will have to spend 500xp every time he uses Permanance, so he can only do this a few times. Still, I'll try to use the best suggestions together in a way that makes things reasonably secure.
Also we are having our Christmas/New Year party tonight so my post may be late or even delayed until tomorrow. Cheers, and happy new year all.))
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6} Friday January 1st, 2010 3:37:58 PM
Quite used to Ed's grumbling, but at the same disappointed to not get support from the party mage on this topic, Wynum accompanies Thar to the catacombs for now with the heirloom. He asks the personnel for a senior mage and asks for a strong identification spell if s/he seems trustworthy.
{If a wizard can cast Analyze Dweomer that would be great (810gp base price for a lvl 11 mage. I think that spell can reveal a {Nystull's} Magic Aura spell without a Will save, but that's not 100% clear), otherwise a high level Identify (cost = 100+10xCL). Wynum will pay.}
Wynum carefully studies the runes on Julian's sword and tries to ask further questions on their making, but considering the halfling did not create this item, this does not get far. "Harmless fire? That sounds interesting. I wonder how one can do that enchantment."
The Centaur is also surprisingly excited by the boat. "I hope it's big enough! It's been so long since I sailed!" Lower, he adds to Julian "..and who wouldn't see Ed get seasick, eh?"
Lastly, if possible he would get to the gambling parlor, prentending to go there "just to stick with the party" (regardless of how many stay behind for the dishes).

"Augh! Stop you little furball, you'll ruin my dress!" Revi runs about trying to avoid the wand, but Jules manages to touch her--however it does the halfling little good as she fights off the effects of the wand. "Fine then, if I'm too big a woman for you, I'll just go stag as they say. Hmpf!" Revi turns her nose up at the little halfling, hikes up her dress and says, "Lets get this over, who's leading the way!" It is apparent Revi forgot to buy nice shoes as she is still wearing her magical striding boots.

Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Sunday January 3rd, 2010 7:31:05 PM
Thar shrugs at Julian's comment about the heirloom and says, "What does everyone think here? Yes, we were supposed to get an heirloom , but there is nothing wrong with ensuring that we have the CORRECT one. Also, we need to make sure we're not being duped by our employer to do something wrong... I'm of the opinion that we should really get it inspected..."
In re: to defending the manor, Thar thinks about it for a moment and says, "Well, Shadow did set up some traps and protections in our basement to keep any unfriendlies from coming in that way. I helped him and that area is secure. However, we don't have much in the way of defenses for our front door or windows, except what Edmund put up... I don't have much in my spell list that can help, but my ranger abilities should allow me to help at least set up some bells and noise makers at the windows and doors."
When he sees Revi's voluptuous form he blushes, and says to Julian, "Enjoy your night my friend. You are a lucky man, though not as lucky as me."
Thar, Wynum and Ruby all go to the CC's ( I'll start posting there Robert, if that's OK. Otherwise, I'll wait if it was going to interfere with the other events that are occurring. Just let me know. )
(OOC = Everyone - Since we have several new members, I thought I'd clarify what we have done in the past re: treasure. We usually take the loot, and find the total value of everything. We divide it by the number of people, and then people can choose what they want out of it. Each item you take counts against your share. If you want more items than your share, you throw in some gp to make up for it. If you want cash, we sell the unwanted goodies and distribute it that way. The key is to get the item you want before we cash them in, since you take the 10 percent hit for a restocking fee at the CC's.)

"Indeed, as Thar mentions, if you think we should not identify this item at all, speak up... we're going to the catacombs today. And... but.. by the gods!"
Noticing the massive halfling barbarian and the not much less massive barbaress, Wynum gasps.
"What big... look they're so large.. no I mean, what huge feet you have Julian! And I didn't know you had fur on them, too!"
{Re: Treasure: there's nothing already IDed that Wynum could use. Also, what happens if we sell non-IDed items, such as rings? Also, thanks to the party treasurer...}
Edmund Monday January 4th, 2010 4:21:18 PM
Edmund frowns a bit at the lack of suggestions to his request.
"Now then," he says sternly. "Do you mean to say that the only thing anyone can come up with are exploding runes? What about some alarums or protection circles? What about scrying portals and magical wards? And if so, then where? Come now, put on your thinking caps because this is very, very important."
Having said his piece, he produces a sheaf of parchment and stands ready to take down the expected ideas and suggestions.

(ooc:Sorry for the delay everyone on my posting. Thanks Robert for clearifying some of the things so hopfully it's not as confusing for people.)
Subset slowly comes after the group gets ready to head to the tavern where the gambling and such will be held out.
When you arrive you find the tavern was decked out....outside there was some minor magic in effect to cause some flashing lights and small bursts of light. When you enter you see people moving about the place but it is only about half packed for the moment. Wil was waiting for you outside even and he leads you in to the place. The place looks pretty busy with various drinking and eating but also there were some tables set up with some dealers and even a roulette wheel.
Shortly after entering Julian feels a slight pinch to his rear and when he spins around sees a halfling woman standing there is a royal blue shirt with ruffled sleeves and low cut front, she wears matching pants and a pair of normal black boots. Her hair is platinum in color and pulled back in a pony tail, "Well well it it isn't the badger. It's been way to long." Selithe smiles brightly to Julian before glancing to Wil, "You reserved the table upstairs I believe. It's waiting for you and drinks are already on there way along with some food."
To any others who look at Selithe you can feel that she would be just as comfortable adventurering as she would inside the tavern, "I'm thinking of buying the place and moving shop here. The dealers are workers of mine and the wheel also." Selithe pokes her pipe which she has began to pack with some tobaccoo towards Julian's friends, "Friends of Julian's and Wil's I take it. Welcome to the place and please enjoy yourself. Ohh and beware of Missy over there, she hasn't lost a game all night." Selithe smiles still as she looks towards everyone.
Revi AC21/13T/21FF HP 81/81 Monday January 4th, 2010 11:02:16 PM
Revi continues to give Jules the cold shoulder, but goes upstairs to their reserved table after introducing herself to their host, "Hello madame Selithe, the place looks great tonight! I'm sure whatever your future holds, it will be a bright and successful one." Revi is not drinking more than 1 drink all night, but she'll eat enough to put a smile on a halfling.
Halfling Julian Tuesday January 5th, 2010 4:28:38 AM
Feeling rather self-conscious about his ears Julian dismisses the Enlarge Person.
"Errr Ed, circles and wards and that stuff - they don't teach that at fighter school. I'd love to see a seven headed dragon appear to eat the intruder, can you do that? Or can we teleport the catburglar to another planet? Or Instant Summons Rabbitsfoot? Can we move the Manor to an alternate somewhere when we are away?"
***************** Julian leaps to Selithe and gives her a big hug. "Oh, I've missed you. And Kendry, Dwight, Podo, Airin, Tobias, and Fickle too. But particularly you. I've been thinking of coming to find you." He releases her from his hug and just smiles. "You came to me instead." "Everyone! This is Selithe. We adventured together around the Crescent Valley. This is Revi, Ruby, Thar, Arm, Wynum and... oh, Eddy is back at the Manor." "You look fabulous, Selithe, by the way. Moving here - most excellent idea. Plateau City is big enough to support your gambling habits. "I'm sure you're busy, but will you sing for us tonight?"
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Tuesday January 5th, 2010 9:43:12 AM
Arm bows slightly to Selithe and says, "Pleasure to meet you, m'lady. So tell me, what types of games of chance do we have running here this evening?".
Thar AC 25/26, 70/70hps Tuesday January 5th, 2010 10:52:47 AM
As Thar, Ruby and Wynum are assisted at the CC, he surreptitiously glances at Ruby's hands. "Hmm... looks like a size 6, or maybe 7 finger," he thinks to himself.
As part of their conversation, he admires the magic rings they've gathered and tries to innocently comment about the different cuts of the various stones. "I like the round cut stones, but you know, the princess cuts are nice too. What do you like best?"
Ruby Tuesday January 5th, 2010 6:03:17 PM
Ruby nods her head to Selithe and smiles as Julian's spirits seem to have picked up a lot. Smiling she moves off to the side to wait and see what they are going to be doing.
Glancing to Thar she glanced to the rings that he is commenting about and purses her lips. She has never been into jewelry that much except for the heirloom that she wears. "I do like the round stones very much. Though I have seen some of those star ones that are very nice as well." She has no idea what brought on the sudden interest in jewelry but she tries to answer as best she can.
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6} Tuesday January 5th, 2010 6:16:40 PM
As can be told by the rattle of hooves on the pavement, Wynum is nervous around the tavern and does not share the enthousiasm about the reunion. Seeing that the owner is an halfing he tries to peek inside, judging whether his bulk would be welcome or an embarassment. Trying to gain some time and insight, he simply comments on the partygoers.
"Well well, it's a good thing us centaurs need little clothing. It would have been hard finding a fancy set of suitable size for this... small place."
Looking around he comments in a low voice to Arm about the muscular Revi while she's turned away. "Well... it seems not only centaur need little clothing. I wonder... tell me, Arm, how elves can find grace in such smallish, skinny haunches and stringy quarters?"
Justin Webber (Co-DM) Homeward bound and suprise on the way Tuesday January 5th, 2010 9:39:33 PM
Wil heads upstairs as everyone speks to Selithe and some head up also. Selithe smiles brightly when Julian hugs her, "I'm flattered and it has been lonely without you. Everyone back home is good I hear. I been traveling some to try and spread my name and my gambling reputation."
Selithe follows you all up to the private table for now and nods as she listens, "It's nice to meet everyone and...uymmm Arm I believe they said your name was? We have black jack, poker, the weheel you noticed and we have a couple dice games along with some betting action going on with the dart board even. The place is quite lively for now but I hope to really pack the place."
Selithe does glance to Wynnum who will find the place is set for small and larger people alike. She smiles and speaks to him, "You'll find that I have dealy with some taurs in my time so I try to keep the place set for both."
Upstairs the table is quickly covered with some food and various drinks and Wil smiles as he speaks to you, "I'm still glad you all are safe and made it back. I hope you all will enjoy the night here and Selithe has a few rooms if any of you need or like to spend the night."
Selithe smiles and pokes Julian, "You are going to spend the night I hope." Selithe smiles to Julian as she leans her head to the side some, "Ohh and how is you reading and writing going? You were learning quite well before we split."
Edmund Tuesday January 5th, 2010 11:54:21 PM
Grumbling as everyone departs, Edmund is soon alone in the manor.
"Would that Shadow were here," he laments. "When it comes to traps and security, there's no substitute for a rogue!"
He returns to his room, where the silver tea set is waiting for him. Armed with a fresh cuppa, he goes over his spell book, examining each spell individually and trying to think of ways they might be used in the manor's defence.
[Though Ruby does not know much about magic itself...fire trap might be good, guards and wards as well. The druid spell snare if we could get it. The spell hallow could be interesting if you are worried about evil.]
Halfling Julian Wednesday January 6th, 2010 6:08:41 AM
Taking a few bites to eat, Julian replies, "Nah, we have a place just down on... I mean, yes. I need somewhere tonight." He grabs a few more nibblies as he talks with Selithe. "You know, I've only read a few magic scrolls, and some texts from the Temple," he says between mouthfuls, "Of Domi, that is. Remember I was going there. Domi has been really helpful to me."
"So, what games are on? I've got to recoup some money," he indicates Revi, "It seems that diamond over there is quite the machine on the battlefield. I lost a bet to her. Revi is amazing with a blade. Maybe I can beat her at cards."
Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24] Wednesday January 6th, 2010 9:40:31 AM

Ruby Wednesday January 6th, 2010 8:19:35 PM
With a nod to Thar she smiles. "Of course I can keep our spot in line while you take care of something." He would not have asked if it was not something important As she watches him go to take care of the important matter she grins with the view. Glancing to those around her she blushed slightly and went back to looking at the assortment of items in the case.
Wynum {48/51hp. Str 6} Wednesday January 6th, 2010 8:42:10 PM
Now that he has checked the headroom, Wynum's worries are replaced with sheer excitement and he heads straight for the bar, ordering a Large Monstrous refreshment, then to the dice table, where he begins tossing bones and gold coins alike with careless abandon.

Revi sips her Pink Lady quietly, acting all demure and stuff, then notices the exchange between Thar and Ruby. Looking at Thar, then Ruby and then Thar again as he leaves, Revi nonchalantly moves next to Ruby and whispers, "I wanna be a bridesmaid, okay? Okay? But I don't want to wear a poofy dress or nothing, maybe something I can wear again." Taking another sip of her drink, "You going to wear white?"
Ruby Thursday January 7th, 2010 3:34:53 PM
Ruby looks up at Revi a little shocked. "Bridesmaid...ahhhh, okay." She is still processing that part and did not catch the comment about wearing white right off. When the 'you' going to wear white part sunk in she glanced in the direction that Thar had gone. Then she glanced back to Revi with a shocked look.
"You don't mean...I mean...." She could not help but stammer a little as she had not expected this or was Revi just teasing her. Watching Revi's face she grinned. "You are just teasing me."

Wil enjoys his time and allows the others to do there own thing also.
Selithe speks more to Julian, "Well it is very good to have you around and I plan to be here for awhile if not for a long while." Selithe grins and slips a key in Julian's hand and whispers in his ear, "My room is up the stairs behind the bar. I hope you may come by later." She smiles and winks to Julian before speaking to everyone, "Well gentleman and ladies, I have people to still meet and some games to run myself so please make yourselves at home."
Selithe leaves now and replaces one of the dealers at one of the tables. You can see her very easily shuffle a deck and use a single card to flip the cards and such in a very showy manner. She is evidently a ace at her job so maybe gambling with her wouldn't be the bestest idea.
Wynnum rolls the dice for awhile with his drink. (Please make a couple rolls here. makde a 1d6 two times for me and make say 4 sets. The bets will no go above 5gps as people don't throw large sums of money in on dice)
Arm can find a poker game quickly enough and the dealer is a very nice looking brown haired woman in a showy dress. She giggles when she sees Arm and smiles charmingly to him, "Well well there good looking. To get in on a game it's 5gps and raises of 2gps." (Arm make a Int check plus a d100)
Revi in her glances around the place sees something she might not of been expecting really. There is a very large man, almost 7ft and heavily muscled with bear hide armor standing near the bar. He looks to have a large great club with him. The man's head is almost completely shaved besides the hair pulls back in a pony tail in the back.
Ruby herself also has a man stareing at her though. He is well dresses in royal blue clothes and black hair. He also has a well groomed beard and light green eyes. He seems to be watching Ruby pretty closely.

Ruby shook her head and then took a drink of the juice that she had poured. "If he does. You can be my maid of honor. I mean, I don't have anyone else and I really do hope that we can become friends." She had not intentions of making her friend wear anything too girlie. Nodding her head she blushed slightly at the implications of white. "Yes, white would be appropriate." She knew what white wedding dressed meant and she fit the bill even after all these years.
She seemed to not even notice the guy watching her as she considered Revi's words. At least she did not notice right away and then when she did, she started to worry. Her hand checked to make sure that the dagger on her thigh was in easy reach. Surely they could not have found her so easily and she had been extremely careful.

The group splits alittle and goes about enjoying their time.
Wynnum rolls the dice and finds that he losses the first roll, wins the second, wins the third and losses the forth So he breaks even.
Julian however rolls the dice and comes up a loser each time. Evidently he has alittle luck problem or maybe he is just to happy to see Selithe. Julian lost 20gps.
Arm plays a hand of poker which takes alittle more time but after sometime he come out with a narrow loss to the dealer. The dealer lady smiles charmingly at him though, "Ahh honey you can so close too. Well, we all can't be winners but you never know, maybe better fortune is in your cards then just at this table." She gives Arm a sly wink before shuffling the deck more.
Revi notices only a small clan mark, it looks like some sort of a crow tattoo and the large barbarian man also wears a crow's foot amulet. It isn't a clan she has heard of right off but then again maybe he comes from a area she hasn't been too. The large man has noticed Revi glancing towards him and eyes her alittle. He seems to be interested and sees somethign of a kendrid spirit of sorts.
The well dressed nobleman still eyes Ruby and nudges one of his friend's he is with before making his way over towards Ruby. The man has 12 other companions that are staying back but not to far away.
The noble looking man smiles to Ruby and rubs his well trimmed beard before speaking, "Well well, quite a catch in this shack. Maybe I can buy you a drink miss?" The man smiles and keeps speaking before getting an answer, "I'm Marnus Witherspoon III, surely you would be more then happy to have a drink with me."

Wynum {Str 8} Friday January 8th, 2010 10:15:22 PM
Not quite aware he just got even, Wynum gather his coins with glee: "Don't worry, Julian, I've been told by a priest that losing money is a sign of a rich afterlife! But in the meantime... I've heard your dear friend say something about drinks."
With his "hoard" in hands, he goes for the bar and begins sampling wines.

Back at the manor, Edmund considers putting alarums on all of the doors in the Manor whilst the rest of the order are out--but decides against it after much consideration.

"What ho!" he says cheerily to the cleric. "All the business sorted? Good, good--what's my cut as Supreme Archmage and Lord of the Order, et cetera?"
Ruby Sunday January 10th, 2010 10:05:26 PM
Ruby shakes her head and smiled at him, her eyes flashing just a hint of annoyance. "No, I don't think I would." She does not bother to allow him to holder her attention for very long, hoping he will go away.
When Revi plants her hand on her butt in a smack, she would have glared but she was happy to have the other woman's help. Returning the smack to Revi's behind she grins. "She don't like to share and to be honest....I don't much like you." She could not help it as her temper flared a little, though at least she had been slightly nice. To be honest she had a few choice words for him though some of them would have been in elvish.

Julian continues his gambling and is able to win one of his throws of the dice but still comes up with another 15gp loss. (To keep it simple I'm only doing 4 rolls which is both sets of dice.)
Arm continues his flirting with the poker table woman and this time he comes up as a winner too. The poker table runner gives a playful pout, "Well well, a loss from poor little me. What is a woman to do." She smiles as she recollects the cards and pushes the gps wager towards Arm.
Wynnum goes to the bar and gets a very large mug to drink.
Ruby talks back to the noble who seems interested in her and Revi jumps in which seems to really caught the interest of the barbarian at the bar now. He has one eyebrow raised at the idea that Revi has herself a slave or such.
Marnus looks to Revi and Ruby and shrugs before speaking with a bigger smile on his face, "Well well that is quite alright miss. I would be more then happy to hire her or even take both of you. Say one hundred for the pair or since this one is so lively I'll give up to 50gos for her." Marnus doesn't move away, clearly he isn't going to give up to soon.
Marnus friend's are still standing back but keeping a eye on things.

Wynum {Str 8} Tuesday January 12th, 2010 10:55:54 AM
In his weakened state, and with poison still running through his veins, the alcohol seems to takes its toll on Wynum's temper pretty fast. Noticing the barbarian's gaze, he comments on Revi who's currently drawing some attention.
"Hey, eh eh. Now, now, she's smaller than her sword {which, presumably, she's NOT carrying right now..}, but you know, you know she waves it like that, I tell you {flays his long arms about}. She cut those spiders, like that, shlak! {suggestively slices his hand on the counter, rumbling the glasses around} Like that! Shlak! Big spiders, too. Hey! Here! Another jug! Gray eyes flash as her first strike is aimed at his solar plexus and the next at his nose. Despite the blue dress she wears, she seems more than able to fight in it.
She is still growling in anger and has not even noted Thar coming back into the place. All her attention is situated on the man in front of her.

Arm continues his talks with the dealer who smiles, "The name is Marie. I should be off work in about a hour depending anyway."
Thar makes his way to the tavern where the group is and would enter in time to see Ruby taking a swing at a noble looking man and Revi standing near her.
The noble looking man is taken back alittle by Revi's comments and threat but pops out of it some when he is punched by the fiery Ruby.
The man frowns and motions so his 8 goons come forward to back him up as Marnis speaks again, "Fine then, I'll just take what I want then."
Selithe has started to notice the fight now also and you see her flipping a card alittle angrily in her hand but her anger clearly not directed at all of you but rather the noble.

He decides that he'll see what he can do to help add some help to the fight, and hopes that a few bears might change the complexity of the battle, he casts Monster Summoning IV, and summons 3 big, mean, celestial black bears (Bob, Ben and Bill) right behind the 8 goons... Thar enters the tavern and finds Ruby fighting and summons a group of bears just incase they're needed.
The natural reaction erupts to the sudden appearance of wild looking animals in a tavern full of mostly normal people. They scream and begin running for the various exits. One even noticing the door is so block goes out the window instead in his fear.
Two of the goons are knocked to the ground by the rushing mob trying to escape. The others look taken back alittle at the sudden burst of action.
Thar being near the door needs to make a Relfex DC:26 due to so many people trying to get out at once. If you fail your knocked down and take 12 points of non lethal damage.
Wynnum begins moving some but is quite drunk.
Any leaves the table but before he can the woman reaches out to try and grab his shoulder, "Wait the people are fleeing and you might get hurt....ohhh my gods, look bearts..."
Revi finds her intimidate check along with the bear and the panis and paniced people seem to made the goons and noble back down some for the moment atleast.
Selithe's gambling customer had ran for the hills but left his money behind. She sighs and tosses the gold in a small container and looks to the bears and then the group as she frowns alittle but it still aimed more at the noble and goons, "A dog or dogs would of been better, less scary boys."
Edmind even back at the groups place can hear some of the commotion as people are hollering about wild animals in the city and what she be done.

Standing back up and brushing himself off, he walks to the noble and simply says, "I see you've met my friends here (pointing at the menacing bears). Next time you feel like harassing my lady friends, you may want to think twice. When they said no, they meant it."
With a satisfied grin that his point was made, he looks to make sure Ruby and Revi are safe, and then goes to Selithe and says "I'm sorry for any damage, but I thought that a fight would be worse. Please let me know what I owe you for lost revenue and I'll try to make it whole. I wanted to stop the fight right away and it looks like I did. Edmund, standing near the door of the manor, is surprised when he hears people shouting in the street about bears and madmen. Puzzling over this, he steps out into the street as people go by.
"Bears?" he says to himself. "I've heard of bulls in a china shoppe, but not bears in a tavern. What kind of drinks are they serving there?"
Convinced that it is a stupid trick gone awry combined with an excess of drink, Edmund remonstrates with the people running by. "Be quiet, you drunkards! Bears indeed! Go to your homes and sleep it off without waking up the whole quarter, if you please!"
With that, he swivels on his heel, storms into the Manor, and slams the door shut.
"How is one supposed to get magical studies done with maniacs charging about in the street?" he grumbles irritably to himself. "Now I'll need a cup of tea just to get myself settled again."

Believing out of habit to benefit from a Message spell, he then cunningly mutters under his breath "I get the leader!"
And pounces (if such a thing is possible for a centaur) on the fur-clad barbarian.
