Here is here, now where to?DM Buzz Friday March 19th, 2010 1:02:23 PM
Without ceremony, the characters find themselves in the last place they were thinking of, that was safe. The minor disturbances that occur when Malgant enters in the sand pit of Imod, cause little concern. All those present know, if Imod did not want a creature to appear in his sacred temple, they would not. Appolo is next to appear and his smile leave one to wonder what he is thinking as he makes an announcement that true adventurers have arrived. Highlight to display spoiler: {(I'm glad you enjoyed it! :))} Whysper soon follows in the wake of heros and she looks up to see some very large minotaurs standing around the large round chamber made from great beams of wood and covered with hide. The inside walls are lined with the pageantry which all the elders display. Their colors and device as well as past elders who have succumbed to the wasting disease called age that few mortals can overcome. Vauhwyt remembers that they brought the kraken meat in the barrels back with them when they were done digging out the tunnels, as well, she brought extra meat in the form of small square pieces of cloth. They are now near the docks with that old salty sea captains name on them, waiting for pickup. In the evening is when sparring takes place. It is then, Vauhwyt can test her mettle against those that train solely for unarmed combat, of course, the training grounds for weapons is just outside and there are likely just as many out there willing to spar as well. This island is prepared for war and train for it regularly. Uel finally enters and he is also treated with respect.
The initiates bow, which is the custom and as predicted, Gorenthall is still standing by the door, an ever present warrior, except when relieved from duties and resting. Then, he is likely getting his adrenaline addiction fulfilled by taking on several initiates at once, or any others that enter the pit with him. He wears a plain chain shirt, that glimmers slightly in the right light. On his back he carries a Falchion which he uses with one hand. Malgant remembers, he likes to grab his opponents with his off hand before he pummels them with his head, just to release them and cut them apart on the next round. That is his definition of a good joke. (Gorenthall is an 11th level warrior that has many feats in unarmed combat as well as martial combat, he only uses submission when ordered by superiors, in a real battle.)
Malgant is greeted by the brute in the usual manner, some form of punch or kick before he embraces the Protector. In the language of Minotaur, which is the only language he knows, Highlight to display spoiler: { You just left yesterday, what happened? Did you rescue these new small creatures that came with you.? Did the others die? I hope it was in battle!"}
Clearly, the clergy have not yet come to the temple and are likely at breakfast still as those that brave follow in their foot prints prepare the temple for the daily activities. A lasting memory for Malgant as he too has combed the sand pit for thousands of hours, in contemplation of his daily learning.
Any with Malgant feel welcome by the others and an initiate, the elder initiate, one which is next in line to become a cleric will lead any that are hungry or would like to rest, to the great hall where breakfast is being served.
Back at Gnym, Vorelle and Aztyr appear to see the fisherman and their boats already out at sea as those that take care of the village during the day, go about their business. Some minotaurs are cutting wood for boat repairs and other needs as a food stand appears busy as the small market begins to open. There are still damages from the flooding caused by the latest migration, but in the few days the party has been gone, it is seen to be much better as clearly, these people living on the edge of an unforgiving force of nature have endured many hurricanes as well as other migrations. They are a hardy people. Vorelle finds when she leaves the artifact, her speech is plain and without impediment. Yet, the sun has yet to rise for the next day, has her true desire yet to occur?
The lovely minotaur lady that agreed to keep Champ seems a bit disappointed at Vorelles arrival, but without a grudge, she scratches the dog about the ears and sends him off toward her. Champ bounds across the sands, his tail wagging and his bark deep. He runs up to Vorelle and around her a few times. she can tell he is upset with her for leaving him behind on another grand adventure, but unbeknownst to Vorelle at the time, it was a very wise idea. Champ soon enough lets Vorelle pet him as he can't stay angry at his true mistress forever.
Goodbyes are said after the villagers ask for them to stay awhile, but alas, the three of you have plans elsewhere and those in Gnym welcome the Motley Good back at anytime. "Please tell your other friends hello for us!"
They return to the temple of Imod around twenty minutes after the others. Aztyr casts a spell, that brings them, just barely where they wanted to arrive. Initiates will also welcome them and explain that breakfast is being served if they are interested. they can join the group now.
Off in the woods, deep in a part of the Wold that few are aware of, a druid relaxes by himself, with only the plants and wild animals to keep him company. He wonders at many things, like, why was he meant to go and do the things he has done over the last couple of days. taken completely out of his element, the forces of nature has destined him to see things that others never would have known. he unlocks dark deep knowledge his mentor told him, but those words were passed off as the rambling of an old man, but now, those ramblings are known to be true. How many other druids are aware of this knowledge and will Nebin someday tell his apprentice of the things he saw and the dark powers of those from a different reality? Will that apprentice also take those words with a grain of salt, not really believing such things are possible, until they too discover them as true? What an awkward position to be in, but there is still time for others, greater than a hermit, to save the Wold. Until then, one could just join, the wild kingdom and forget oneself.
In another part of the flat world called The Wold, an Undead slayer saves a community from the ravishing of an evil necromancer. Her disruption of his plans has caused a power surge in the experimental machinery that he was developing. In some ways, it made them both more powerful, but as Valanthe slays the evil corruption on the small area of land she has protected, she is not the same creature she was before. It is as if, the power of the machine has hardened her into a more efficient killing machine. She has a new lust for battle and she hungers to face her opponents in a toe to toe fashion, which is much different then her old self. She gives away all the weapons and armor she no longer wishes to use. She donates them to the small community in a gesture of faith and good will, that they should prosper.
The village elder comes forth and tells her, "Our ancient defender has foretold your coming and your grace. It is placed upon his tomb and has been there for three hundred years, "A warrior princess that represent the elves will save the village of Gar'Gorlin. When this happens, only her may enter this tomb safely and that which is within, will be hers to carry until she no longer have need for them."
The village elder says, "Please, go and collect your much deserved reward and feel free to stay wih us only as long as you desire. we are a small, humble community and we understand the needs of adventures and heros to travel."
She enters the tomb and finds many magnificent things that will help her on her career. She returns to the village without incident and a feast has been prepared in her honor, while she was away at the tomb.

Aztyr grabs Champs neck scruff and holds onto Vorelle, as they teleport to just in front of the Temple. (rolled spell last post) She lets go of both of them once they appear, "Sorry for the feeling of being squeezed through a key hole, but that's the way the spell works. Travel that way enough and you eventually get used to it. Now, let's go find the rest." Aztyr heads towards the door and greets Malgant and whoever else is with him, she'd beed reaching for the handle when it opened in front of her. "Looks like everyone is here, except Nebin, guess he wanted to go elsewhere. He wasn't at the town, and I don't see him here. Time to head off to the Catacombs?"

Valanthe Friday March 19th, 2010 11:01:27 PM
Before the Tomb:
Valanthe sat in the small room she was given to use. Currently the only thing she wore were the bandages covering her various wounds. It was amazing that skeletons and zombies, while quite fragile, could get through mithril links. When the adrenaline of battle faded the pain from numerous wounds showed Valanthe how hurt she really was. Her mind flashed back to when the hordes first swarmed the village. Bow and arrow had been useless. If not for her warhammer, Gargul's Fist, she would have died. It was a special warhammer with the head crafted into the shape of a fist. With the symbol of Gargul across the knuckles. It was as much insubstantial as substantial. Reaching those undead that could become like the wind. Looking at the items that were once important, Valanthe no longer felt the attatchment she once did. Only the longbow tugged at her heart. Valanthe walked over and carefully picked up the bow as if the slightest motion would cause it to break. It was no longer useful to her except it wasn't her bow. It was Ashira's bow. It was the last thing she had connecting her to the old days. Valanthe unstrung the bow, securing the loose cord around the grip.
Valanthe set the bow down to the elven crafted mithril chain laid out on the bed. Valanthe knows that Ashira would approve of her leaving the bow for one that needed it. It was no longer of use to her and keeping it would be selfish. Still whoever claimed the bow would have to earn it. They would have to string it. The tensil strength was incredible. Only the strongest could string this bow. A true test for one worthy of arm and heart. One day the things she's leaving behind will be used. A rising hero will string the bow and slay evil that threatens good people. Ashira would approve of that.
Valanthe sat back down and grabbed a mirror. She looked at her long golden hair with red highlights. Sunset she called it. It constrasted sharply with her jet black skin. It was a source of vanity for her. In battle it was a liability. Valanthe took some scissors and began cutting off the long locks. She kept cutting until her hair was short but still feminine and sexy. Valanthe was about to dress but instead paused and looked at her body. She was strong before but now she had muscle. Quite a stand out on an elf. Even one with a unique body like hers. Valanthe set down the mirror and caught the pirate tattoo on the inside of her forearm. It was done in white, marking her rank in the pirates of jack. Before she hated the thing but now she was glad she had it. It was a reminder to the past and the times she had. Both good and bad. She set the mirror down with one hand and absently ran her fingers across the screaming elf tattoos on her neck. The mark of the father. His last gift before he was cast out of the wold. There was still magic there and yet she knew she would never use it. Why she didn't know. Maybe it was the fear of loosing the connection to the only man that ever felt like a father to her. Valanthe dressed and gathered the things that were no longer of use to her. She trusted the village would keep the treasures until a hero claimed them in a time of great need.
After the Tomb:
Valanthe had spent considerable time in the tomb. Paying her respects to the fallen hero. One who had the forsight to plan for this day. After the hordes of undead the tomb felt peaceful. She was told that she could enter the tomb safely but that didn't mean it felt right. Valanthe pushed those feeling down and retrieved the treasures. In the times ahead she would need them. Lives depended on it and she didn't mean her own. A follower of Gargul did not fear passing on from this life. It was an acceptance that brought peace of mind. That didn't mean she sought death. Far from it. So few made it their mission to destroy those that broke the cycle of life that Valanthe needed to stay alive as long as she could.
"Thank you Lord Gargul for these gifts. I shall use them to smite your enemies." Valanthe says into the empty tomb.
She returned to the village, new treasures in hand. Valanthe finds much enjoyment in the feast. More than she thought she would. It felt the proper way to celebrate a big victorious battle. She happily sat at the table, Gargul's Fist sitting on it. Displaying the semi translucent weapon the struck down the hordes of undead. She raises a toast to Lord Gargul for granting her the strength to do what needed to be done.
ooc: description of treasures coming when gear gets finalized. Also since Appolo is probably the only one that would get her displayed name I thought I would explain. She hasn't used her full name of Valanthe since before her death by Ashira in the valley of the mother of the elves. The dark skin of a drow was chosen upon her ressurection to display the anger of her nature as well as a self punishment for turning against her friends. After her ressurection into her pure elf body her name was shortened to Val to signify her new self and the mental and spiritual turmoil she went through. Now she has reached a point in her life where she is at peace with herself. Forgiven herself for past crimes.
Whysper (AC 23 - HP 48+20/48) Saturday March 20th, 2010 5:52:24 AM
Seeing Malgant embrace the minotaur - Gorenthall, she believes his name is - Whysper wonders if this might be Malgant's home village. Best try to avoid helping herself to any pockets while here then.
She joins Apollo for breakfast with the other initiates, feeling comfortable enough that she will return to Uel's side soon. It's still hard to believe that her scars have healed. With a smile on her face, she enjoys her morning meal, content with herself and to watch the local going-ons.
It occurs to her that Uel hasn't said anything to frustrate her lately, and in an out of character way, even tried to comfort her earlier. Is it possible her sorceror friend has had some personal growth? OOC: Noticing the change in Charisma She rejoins the group and awaits Uel's decision as to whether they are ready to journey to the catacombs, still happy to follow his lead.
Vorelle Sunday March 21st, 2010 11:25:11 AM
Vorelle enthusiastically returns Champ's greeting, kneeling to hug him and receive doggy kisses in return. She has missed him, too.
"You wouldn't have liked it there," she tells him, reveling in being able to talk like a normal person. "There was fire, and trees that tried to grab you, and you couldn't really tell where you were going. No place for a good dog like you."
When they return to the Temple, she quickly moves to join the others for a bit of breakfast. Champ re-acquaints himself with them, too, barking joyfully at Mookie a couple of times before settling down by Vorelle's side.

Vauhwyt (HP90+18 AC28) and Mookie (HP45+18 AC19) Monday March 22nd, 2010 12:51:48 PM
Vauhwyt is glad her feeble brain reminds her of what the deal was with the meat. She is tempted to give some to the sea captain right then and there, but then she pauses. She remembers the fooforah over loot from the lich-warriors, and she figures she should rendez-vous with her friends and put ALL the loot into one big pile for the group to take care of with no hard feelings or questions. Loot includes kraken meat.
So she passes on the challenge of wrestling minotaurs and instead meets up with her friends at the temple. She meets Vorelle and Champ, who barks at Mookie.
Mookie caws, "Arrgh! When will I be free of canine harrassment?!?" But when he thinks no one is looking, he gives Champ a treat from Vauwhyt's saddlebags.
Meanwhile, Vauhwyt listens to Mal's sendings and nods. "Good job," she says when he finishes.
Then she says to everybody present, "Isn't it about time we put all the loot in a pile and divvied it up? We have to kill time somehow before dawn comes -- and with it, our wishes!"

Valanthe Monday March 22nd, 2010 8:31:29 PM Mal? It's good to hear you. You can relax, everything is alright, crisis is over. It will be good to see you.
The only sign of the magical communication was a pause and a smile as Valanthe raised a goblet to her lips. She took a big drink, setting down the empty cup with a think. Valanthe continued her tales of adventures on the high seas with the pirates of jack against the evil corruption of Ga'al.

Various creatures in various places/DM Buzz Tuesday March 23rd, 2010 12:37:19 AM
So, the group now has contact with everyone they wanted. Vorelle and her trusted pet Champ. Whysper knows where Uel is and vice versa. Mookie is where he is supposed to be when Vauhwyt checks on him. Aztyr checks on Jynx and the mercat can smell Kage, the two are well aware of each other, in fact, who knows if they will become friends or if their species can come to an amicable truce? Malgant contacts his lost love Valanthe and he receives a reply, but his words are a blade that hurts Appolo, to see her with another, even if she is a different person.
The group goes about their own business for a short time. Some want to clean up while others want to eat. There are no needs that are not taken care of by the initiates, for the friend of a High Priest to Imod. Yes, Malgant is regarded as a High priest now, though not an Elder.
Bardamion responds to Malgant Highlight to display spoiler: {"I am at an inn enjoying breakfast, please have everyone join me as soon as possible for a debriefing on the situation. The Mangled Centaur on shipwreck avenue."}
Malgant is fully aware of the ruffians that hang out in that area. Mercenaries every one of them. Some could actually be called pirates, yet, not wanted on their home island. Seedy scum, decrepit whores at the end of their careers and of course, they would sell their mother for a box of gold or a barrel of booze. That leaves one to wonder, why Bardamion would choose such an establishment for his rendezvous?

Regardless, things have been quite interesting since we fell in with this group. Perhaps we should tag along with them. We'll have to get back on that lich's trail eventually, but I've never been this far west before, and there is much we could learn."

This place is not exactly a den of thieves, but it is not someplace you would want to find yourself drunk in either. The clientele is mostly mercenaries and pirates. We need to maintain vigilance while we are there and hopefully we will retire to another place to talk business. We should probably go now, before we are sent away tomorrow morning. We also need to discuss who is going to go see Val and return with her. Since she says that the crisis on her end is passed I doubt an armed force needs to go to retrieve her, probably only 1 of our teleporters and a group, minus one that they can carry back. Let us go see Bardamion and we can talk on the way. Lets gather the others."

She chuckles aloud to let Uel know she was only kidding. "Seriously, if you need a couple of coins, I can loan you some. In terms of this group though, based on how we fared against that Lich last time, perhaps we require more numbers on our side. Best we stay with the group for now, and who knows, they may be able to help us out in the future".

Valanthe Tuesday March 23rd, 2010 9:13:06 PM
Valanthe returned to her room after the great feast. With a throbbing head from far too much ale. Not that she couldn't hold her drink but she's never gotten into a celebration like she had tonight. The food, the stories, the ale. It was glorious and Valanthe reveled in every moment. Even though her steps wobbled from the drink, Valanthe still had the frame of mind to remove her new armor and place it upon the stand in her room. The plate was red with white tracings around each individual plate. The plates fit together seamlessly with sharp angle lines cutting a fierce image. As did the accompanying helm. It too was sleek with a nose guard and angled eye slits to give a fierce impression. It truly was remarkable the way it fit her body. It was quite heavy but it didn't hinder her movements too much. Valanthe wanted to test it out in real battle. To see how the armor moved with her when trying to dodge an enemies blow. With her gear stored properly Valanthe thought about giving it a proper cleaning but in the end decided it could wait til morning.
