Stopover in the Sargrass (DMSteveK) Thursday March 25th, 2010 12:21:06 PM
Rash asks the powers through an augury and gets an answer: Weal
Peerimus calls on the spellcasters to prepare Endure Elements spells for thier travel in the morning.
Further bantering goes on between the dwarfs and gnome.
The ladies of the group also talk about communicating with loved ones far away.
....................
In the morning, Endure Elements spells are cast, Windwalks and two Greater Teleports, and the protected from heat COC heroes are soon flying over the southern edges of the Sargrass Plains. (ooc: check off appropriate spells on posts)
The next land rises from the scorching, grassy Plains into rolling hills of light forest and brush. It is a thin land in this location, as the COC heroes can see the end of the land while still passing over the border between the Sargrass and this new land. At that end, the land abruptly stops.
As the heroes Windwalk closer, they see the hilly terrain ending in a line of cliffs falling down from the hills in a east-west line as far as the heroes can see. Tremendous winds are beginning to buffet the Windwalking heroes, and the feeling is there that it would be DEFINITELY safer on the ground.
The heroes walk lower and lower until they touch land on a hillside near a copse of trees about a hundred feet from the edge of the cliffs that do not seem to have an end. They have made it! They are at THE EDGE!
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Thursday March 25th, 2010 3:41:36 PM
Xenia stands at the edge of the Wold and looks out into the swirling winds. She squats on an outcropping of rock and pulls her cloak in close around her. In her mind, her thoughts are as tumultuous as the winds above. Who was that man they had seen in Momma Rash's scrying? The man sitting against a wall somewhere huddled in a dirty cloak? It could have been Wynn. It could have been him all disguised up. But it was so hard to tell with him sitting there all balled up with his arms holding his knees like that. She'd know for sure if she could've seen the gills along side his neck. But, all that tangled hair (streaked with white!!!) hid his neck from view.
What did that mean? She reaches out of the folds of her cloak and picks a stone up off the ground. Why would Momma Rash's magic show her this guy if he wasn't Wynn? And, if he was Wynn, why would he be looking like that, and where was he? Instead of answers, the scrying only lead to more questions. Wasn't that like life, though? Did the questions ever stop? Isn't that what they're here for? To ask question? So, where was this Flik Guy, to show them how to get the answers?
The slim girl stands and lets the wind catch her cloak, teasing it before billowing it out behind her. Cocking back her arm, she heaves the stone out over the edge of the cliff and into the empty space beyond.

Peerimus AC 24 HP 131/131 and Yorrick AC 37 HP 160/160 Thursday March 25th, 2010 10:56:15 PM
Peerimus resumes for with the rest of the group. The Edge of the Wold. What wonder, what unbridled wonder. For a moment the thought crosses his mind of stepping into the void, but it quickly passes before it truly even forms itself completely. Rash's querey snaps his head around, "I was actually hoping a Discern location would simply suffice in truth."
The druid thinks for a few moments, "I could commune and ask Mother if any are about? I saw no signs of anyone while we were coming down, so I do not think we could simply call out and expect an answer and unfortuantely I did not take any spells that would allow me to speak to the locals." Peerimus pauses again, "Well actually that is not entirely true. Barring any other ideas I will, but i would rather entertain others. Divinations, Augury? Rash Firngaer, your thoughts?"

Rash stares at Peerimus and then shouts as loud as she can, FLIK!!! . She stops and cocks her head listening and says, "Do you think it worked?"
She turns and looks at the others asking, "Any bright ideas?" She turns back to Peerimus and asks, "Why don't you want to commune with nature. I would think that would be the best thing right now. Summon a thousand birds, butterflies or bees and send them out in all directions and to see if they can find this Flik."
Stopover in the Sargrass (DMSteveK) d100=99 ; Friday March 26th, 2010 10:16:09 AM
The Children of Chaos take time to admire the amazing cliffs of the EDGE. Unlike any other cliff in the Wold, looking out from this view, the heroes can't see anything beyond the edge of the land. There is no bottom, there is no other side, there are no clouds floating in the sky on the other side of the cliffs!
Xenia tossing pebbles over the side has an interesting side effect: the pebbles don't fall. Sometimes the small stones are caught by winds and tossed high into the air to land on the hills behind the heroes. Sometimes the wind takes the pebble straight down and then back into the side of the cliff where it is buried into the cliffface. And one time, the pebble thrown hangs in mid air, buffeted by opposite winds until it pops out right back at Xenia!
Peerimus calls for some magic to call for Flik, and Rash teasingly uses a loud shout to see if it would work.
"No need to shout, good travellers, I'm right here." The voice comes out of nowhere, but spinning around, there is a wrinkled gnome with twinkling eyes laying on the ground and resting his head on a grassy hummock.
Popping up like a cork, the gnome appears to have the full troubadour's regalia about him, complete with lute, and he flourishes a bow. "Flik Tarnblaster Flugelfingers, at your service. You have come to the Edge to learn answers to your questions, eh? Of course you have. That's the only reason people come here!"
"Cliffs echo, right? Right. And the Edge is the biggest cliff in the Wold because it is the edge of the Wold. Yep yep, literally. So everything that has ever, EVER been said has its echo here at The Edge. You just get right to the Edge and belt out your question at the top of your lungs, OK? OK. And if you are lucky, the answer will come back in the wind. Course, if you're not lucky, you may get blown off the cliff and fall forever and ever."
"But you gotta think carefully, cause even if the Edge answers, a person can only get ONE questioned answered in thier lifetime. There's people who spend years living here at the Edge trying to think of the ONE question they can't learn some other way."
Rash Friday March 26th, 2010 11:49:34 AM
Rash literally jumps in fright as the gnome appears at there feet, arms pinwheeling at the edge. She catches her balance and gives a stern and then somewhat sheepish look at the gnome troubadour. "Well I guess I had that coming." She will bow deeply to the gnome and eyes sparkling ask, "Is that what you are doing here? Trying to come up with the perfect question?"
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Friday March 26th, 2010 12:50:12 PM
The dark rogue looks first one way up the line of the Cliffs, then down the other way. "Where did you just come from?" she asks the Flik Guy, with the hint of suspicion in her voice. "You weren't here just a moment ago. I know you weren't."
"You live around here?" Again she scans the bleak and barren rocks at the Edge of the Wold. "You actually *live* around here?" Xenia steps up for a closer look at the gnome. "I mean ... do you mind?" As both prelude and explanation for her question, Xenia reaches forth a gloved hand. "I mean, do you mind if I just sorta touch you? It's, like, you know, kinda sorta hard to believe that you're, like, here, and you're, like, real. If you know what I mean."

Peerimus smiles as Rash gives out a shout. "It's not that I don't want to cast the commune, I have another spell I could use to speak to the plants, but Shapechange it a bit overkill..." Flik's voice causes Rash to jump and the causes Peerimus to start as well.
Peerimus nods and places his hand across his chest, "Well met Tarnblaster Flugelfingers, I am Peerimus, Druid of Hernamar and leader of The Champions of Chaos."
The druid listens and starts going through a list of questions to ask, each of them would need to follow upon the other and they needed to have the complete solution within 9 questions, possibly 7 so Xenia and one of the brothers would not have to use thier question. "We will need to go in succession and plan an appropriate set of questions that build off each other. Things like 'How can we stop the current turmoil of the lands moving on the Southern Continent, how can we use the cube, where is the location given in the first answer and so on."
While Xenia is quite interested in Flik, Peerimus is too distracted on the thought of putting the lands right. In the back of his mind a tiny voice starts singing lightly, 'Dog with a bone, dog with a bone, dog with a bone.'

Firn'gaer stands in awe of the end of the Wold. He, too, is surprised at the sudden appearance of the gnome. After gathering himself, he gives Flik Tarnblaster Flugelfingers a nod in greetings.
"Possible questions would be who is the group that we should be wary of that fears change or where is the location we must go to stop the Migration."
"Time is not on our side in this, but haste should be tempered with the gravity of the situation. I will need to think of this." With that the gnome takes out his pipe and after packing the tobacco sits among the trees and looks out into the nothing beyond the cliffs (of insssthanity).
Rash Sunday March 28th, 2010 10:14:45 PM
Rash understands Xenia's reaction but fears that she might be playing with powers more powerful than she knows. "Xenia stop manhandling Mr. Flik. How would you like it if some stranger just started rubbing their hands all over you? Its rude!"
Rash sits down and fingers her chin also pondering questions.

Flik Tarnblaster Flugelfingers (DMSteveK) Monday March 29th, 2010 12:05:12 PM
Flik seems amused by the reactions of the COC, and lets Xenia poke at him. The rogue's finger passes right through Flik! Firn'gaer can see that Flik is not an illusion, he's here right enough, and looks solid enough. Skill DC 20 Religion Highlight to display spoiler: { subtle hints indicate Flik is a ghost }.
The gnome bard, though, doesn't seem to notice any consternation on the part of the heroes. Sense Motive DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: { In fact, while Flik seems very sensitive to the motivations and body language of the COC, he doesn't seem to notice anything that is about him being incorporal.}. "See? See? I'm completely here, no problems, none." He gives a sly look to Kazak. Oh, you are a smart one. Yes, there is a major bard's college near the Edge, the only permenant settlement this close to the cliffs. Wrapped in lots of non-detection enchantments and abjurations, you know. For me, well, I'm still trying to decide what answer I want. After that, I'll have to think of the right question, and after that... well, there's still a lot to do, a lot to do."
"But in the meantime, I can help you out. I know the best place on the Cliffs to actually ask questions; where you can get the best answers and least likely to get blown over the Edge."
"Wah!" If the dark girl had not been unnerved by the sudden appearance of the Gnome Flik Guy, she most certainly is when her hand passes through him. "I knew it! Lookit this," she says as though it is not plain for all to see. "I knew it."
Then the rogue stills, going very quiet, eying the Gnome Flik Guy with a subtle wariness. "Um ... yeah. Well, I think it would be real nice of you to show us some of these spots. But ... it might be better for us to have Fernie or Momma Rash make us our own place to stay out here rather than bothering your bard college friends. My boyfriend, he's a bard, and he's not always up for guests when he's deep into writing stuff, if you know what I mean."
Not to mention the fact that your bard college friends might all be ghost too.
"As to the Migration-Anti-Migration thing problem we're trying to stop now, whyn't we start with that song poem thing that we saw in that dream?"
"Children of Chaos, hear our plea The signs are there for those who see Tower of Light with anger will leave Noble Race hammer and bow will cleave Gates be many, gates be none Before the Great Migration is done Yet beware the side that seeks not change For..."
Xenia recites it from memory to bring the ideas to the fore once again. "I mean, we were saying that we already knew most of this already. Right? The Tower. The Hammer and Bows. What we don't know about is the side that seeks not change. Maybe we don't know the gates thing either."
"So, why not start by asking how the Song Poemy ends. Then ask what the Song Poemy means by the Sid that Seeks not Change. We can move on from there, then to ask how we can stop all these Migration After Effecting things despite these Sides and their Seeking not Changes."

Flik Tarnblaster Flugelfingers (DMSteveK) Tuesday March 30th, 2010 8:05:52 AM "Oh, I'll show you the spot right enough, right enough. You look to be fine upstanding champions of the Wold, and I'm sure you'll use any information you get for the betterment of others."
Flik waits patiently for the group to get thier questions organized, eyeing them with insightful eyes. As before with Xenia's comment, the wily gnome seems to not even hear Peerimus' question about the bard's 'state' and being 'not exactly here'.
Peerimus' thoughts on the questions, however, garners a response. "Those two seem to be really good questions. I wish I thought of brining along friends so we could all ask questions together. Would have made my stay here on the Edge a little shorter, for sure, for sure."
Flik does immediately jump on Kazak's inquiries. After a considering look at the sky, the gnome bard answers. "Nah, I don't think they are up to entertaining people, what with the non-detection spells and all that. Why, I've even forgot how to get there myself! For me, I've been looking for the best place and the best question for 27 years, 3 months, and 2 days, give or take a week." He gives the dwarf brother a wink.
"But I'll take you to the place to ask your questions if you want." Flik leads the COC a little to the east and then right to the edge of the Edge. Here, they can see two massive rocks leaning against each other and a little ways out over the cliff. Flik crawls between the two rocks until you can just see his toes, and then comes out again. "Yep, still here. The other side of the rocks is concave, you understand? Wriggle through there, and it acts like a big megaphone, enhancing the force of your question, and augmenting the echoing answer. The rocks help you not getting tossed about by the wind, too!"

When they get back to Hook City, they'd have to tell Sieur Weaver that his mentor is now a ghost, and tied to the Edge of the Wold, ever trying to think of his question. Forever and forever.
"Um ... alright." The girl rogue takes a clear and distinct step backwards. "So ... who's gonna use their question first?" she asks.

Rash's Question (DMSteveK) Wednesday March 31st, 2010 10:30:05 AM
Rash dares the rocks first, and getting on hands and knees, the mature woman crawls in the space. Zephyrs of wind like the breath of a great beast go by her until her hands come to a natural holding spot and her head sticks out from behind the rocks.
Wind buffets her head, slapping it back and forth, her eyes and cheeks stinging with the wind and the slap, slap, slap of her hair flying wildly about. Through the tears, Rash can see that Flik's description was accurate. Above and below is a smooth, widening cone 20 feet long, emptying out over the Edge.
The wind slams into her again, in fits and starts, and with each supercharged zephyr, Rash can hear whispers... "Jala eloped with a half-orc and ...", "...sneak in to kill...", "... love you...", "Parnoth, let the earth swallow you, but by Domi, may it keep you!" ...
Concentrating, the cleric shouts out her question, and immediately the winds die down. A zephyr of a breeze arrives, and the voice of an elderly centaur says... ".... stasis in neutral Law would arrange."
And the winds return.
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Wednesday March 31st, 2010 3:15:39 PM
Ummmm ...
"Yet beware the side that seeks not change For stasis in neutral Law would arrange,"
Xenia recites the couplet in its complete form. "Law? Whazzat mean, Law?" A puzzled expression troubles the rogue's dark face. "Like, the guard in Hook City, you mean? That little halfling guy? I don't get it."
And then a flash of epiphany creeps upon the rogue, an expanding sense of realization that draws her mouth into an 'oh' of surpise. "You ... you mean, like Law, right? I mean, like, Law law. Like you're the Chaos Guys, right? And so there's Law Guys out there somewhere too. Like you got Chaos Powers and Chaos Tattoos, and they got Law Powers and Law Tattoos."
"AND THE CUBE! Oh my stars! I get it now! The Cube Thingie. It's a Law Thingie, right? That's why it don't like us. Stars in the Sky! That's it!"
"You got the ideas of Chaos and Law running around like they're guys fighting each other. I mean, like they're gods or sump'in. No wonder you got whack stuff like mountains flying around and such. That is so messed. Who's stupid idea was that?"
"Wait! ... For stasis in neutral Law would arrange ... Stasis. Balance. Doesn't that mean the Law Guys want to put things back into balance? Isn't that what we want to do too? Bring things back to, like, neutral? So, doesn't that mean we should try and figure a way to try and work with these Law Guys?"

Kazak's Question (DMSteveK) Thursday April 1st, 2010 8:14:59 AM
As with Rash, Kazak crawls into place, and the winds surround him in the bowl of stone. A old woman faintly says "Congratulations, its a ...", a hissing voice proclaims "Ga'al is now the Master of Life and Death!", a whiny boy screams "...want a LOLLIPOP!" that echoes in the stone cone.
Kazak shouts his question, and the winds still, followed by an emotionless yet powerful voice. "...we stop the Great Migration?" and a second equal voice replies "Now that Chaos reigns, the only way to stop the effects is to bring them both to the Valley of Ahl."
And the Winds return, Kazak withdraws and tells the others of what he has learned.
(ooc: The others can't hear the echoes, only the hero asking the question. To make posting easier, I'm assuming that the hero tells the other COC when they hear the echo.)
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Thursday April 1st, 2010 11:37:25 AM
"Valley of Ahl?"
What a dumb name.
"I guess the next question would probs be best to find out how we can get to this Valley of Ahl, huh? I don't think that's going to be as easy as it sounds. I mean, think of the questions. We could ask where the Valley of Ahl is, and the answer could be sump'in like, 'In the Wold'. How useless would that be? Or, we could ask how we get to the Valley of Ahl, and one answer could be, 'You walk."
Xenia frowns.

"This will be my question unless someone objects or knows how it may be worded more clearly." He says.
"Describe a location within the Valley of Ahl, which was named in the answer to Kazak Stonewall's question, so that i may use magic to travel to the described location in the Valley of Ahl."
If no one objects to the question, Firn'gaer speaks his question next.
Durgan Stonewall (AC 34(temp33); HP 239/239) Thursday April 1st, 2010 8:18:38 PM
The questions are coming now, slowly. As Durgan listens to the answers from the Edge, he thinks about all the possible questions he would want answered. But finishing the Migration was too important for him to be greedy and save a question for himself. "I'm gonna ask how ta finish the Migration. Just let me know when yer ready fer me to drop that one." Durgan waits patiently for the others to determine the best time to ask his question.
Rash Thursday April 1st, 2010 11:17:11 PM
Rash nods at Firn'gaer and says, "Good question but we need to also make sure that we are supposed to bring the Chaos Bell as well. Hate to get there and discover we missed something!"
Rash moves over to the ghost Flik's side and settles down next to him. "I want to thank you for you advise my friend. Maybe I can give you some. What are some of the questions you have been pondering asking?
Firn'gaer's Question (DMSteveK) Friday April 2nd, 2010 8:47:53 AM
The gnome wizard is the next to brave the winds. Whispers also move around him, then cease as he shouts his question. An echo from the same powerful and emotionless voices come back, augmented by the cone shape of the stone. "But how do we get them to the center of the Valley? The land within is always changing, and even portals that once were used no longer connect!" To which, the second voice replys, "There is an immutable portal within the Court of Law, but it is useless until we have both artifacts together."
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Friday April 2nd, 2010 10:48:30 AM
More thinking. More wheels continue to turn within the head of the girl rogue as Fernie comes back with the answer to his question.
"Um, so, you think you can get to this Court of Law place just from the name, huh?" she asks. "So, what we need is both Artifacts. Right? That means the Silvery Cube and the Chaos Bell. Silvery Cube we got. Where did we put the Chaos Bell?"
"You know, it just kinda occurred to me. If we're the Children of Chaos, the champions, I mean, of the Chaos Thing. And we are kinda sorta tied into that Chaos Bell. Then you think them Ooglies were the champions of the Law Thing?"
"And, if not ... If there are some other guys out there ... Lords of Law or sump'in ... Well, imagine if you heard the Chaos Bell had been captured by some guys representing the other side," Xenia poses the hypothetical question. "What would be your first reaction be to go and do?"

Rash is saddened by the lack of response from the gnome but she figures that he is stuck in his own reality and wants to stay there.
Rash stands up, brushes herself off and suggests, "Couple of ideas for questions. Will the 'Children of Law' oppose us stopping the migration? What exactly do we have to do to stop the migration? Do we have a timetable to meet before the Wold pulls itself apart?"
Rash suddenly is worried for her family and falls quiet. She should be home hugging her son instead of perched at the literal edge of the Wold shouting questions into the wind.

"We need to find this Court of Law." He says. "Yes, Rash we will need both the Chaos Bell and the Silver Cube. I think the next questions should be who resides over this Court of Law or where is it at. It is possible that the Oligans were part of the Court of Law. If that is true, then it may be safe to assume that the Court of Law is within the Sawgrass Plains. Didn't we hear tales of the Olgians bending the region to their will a long time ago? Maybe we should look in on the Bloodpack and find out if they ever came across the Court of Law."
Pondering Questions (DMSteveK) Saturday April 3rd, 2010 2:42:08 PM
Thinking about the answers (the only COC hero to have done so) and different Planes, Firn'gaer knows that there are Planes that are thematically aligned. Just as there are elemental planes, there is almost certainly a plane that is strongly Lawful. If the Court is anywhere outside the Wold, it is probably on one of those planes.
Flik seems to take a while before being animated again while looking at Rash. "Sorry there, I was thinking about what you were doing and how your phrasing of the questions could make my question better. It's been several years since I've been able to change my question from the conundrum that I'm in. No, don't want to talk about it, it's a secret secret you see."
Three heroes have asked a question, and the answers, while answering some things, have only opened other questions. Perhaps that is why Flik has waited so long to ask his question? As it stands now, it really looks like all the heroes are going to have to ask in a series to get enough information for what the COC has to do next.
Putting it all together, what the COC know right now is.. 1) The entire prophesy is... The poem starts "Children of Chaos, hear our plea The signs are there for those who see Tower of Light with anger will leave Noble Race hammer and bow will cleave Gates be many, gates be none Before the Great Migration is done Yet beware the side that seeks not change For stasis in neutral Law would arrange."
2) That Chaos is riegning the Great Migration, and "the only way to stop the effects is to bring them both to the Valley of Ahl." (The COC are pretty sure 'both' refers to the Chaos Bell and the Cube of Law.)
3) That the only way to get to the Valley of Ahl is through a portal controlled by the Court of Law, and that someones that know about the Court of Law also seek to get both artifacts together.
(ooc: I'll check the board more than once per day in case more questions are asked in response to other questions. We've got 4 COC heroes who haven't posted in 2 weeks; I'll be sending emails for Walkabouts next week.)

"All good questions Firngaer and Rash. "Torgon is correct. While time is not on our side we cannot afford to waste this opportunity. Can our own resources of divinational magic answer or shead light on any of those? I would think a Divination would to such things as Will the 'Children of Law' oppose us stopping the migration? What exactly do we have to do to stop the migration? Do we have a timetable to meet before the Wold pulls itself apart." Peerimus looks to Rash Torgon and Firngaer, "My magic will not help us in these matters, nor my knolwedge of the natural wold. These things are in your realms of expertise."
"We know that we must take the Bell and Cube to the center of the Valley of Ahl and that the portal to this place is kept by the Court of Law who is also seeking to take possession of the Bell and Cube." Peerimus has a seat on the grass. "It seems to me the Court of Law is a group, possibly a full guild like organization. Do we think we have the magical ability to find this portal and travel to it, or must we use a question to discover precisely where this Portal is? Another possibility we should consider is that the portal is portable and is being carried by this Court of Law. Personally I do not think so and I think it very likely the Court of Law is very much a group like ourselves."
"The answers seem terribly vague and of course that is why one might spend a lifetime trying to think of the right answer before asking the question. What if we asked what it is we should ask? What is the question we should ask that will give us the answer to stop the migration?" The druid's brow raisies slightly as he ponders the possibility.
"We have some information, but are missing the lines to connect the dots."

"Ah, that is a very good question, yes very good", replies little Flik the ghost gnome bard (though he doesn't seem to know he is a ghost). "And if I brought friends along, that is very close to the type of question I would think to ask. But", and here Flik makes a dramatic, bardic pause, "don't you already know how to stop the Great Migration? You said it yourself. I don't understand what these things are with all my knowledge, but it appears you do."
Flik lays back down in the grasses and closes his eyes. "It seems to me like the next question you should ask is: 'What is the next question we should ask that will give us the next question we should ask' ".
The gnome bard pretends to fall into a light sleep.

"I have no divinations prepared at present, perhaps Rash can help there. But it would be good to verify the nature of The Court of Law, Person, place or thing. Since they are yes and no responses generally, it might work as well to also ask if those that also seek to bring both artifacts together would aid or oppose us. Another question for a divination could be to simply determine if the court of law is on this plane."
"I have two divination spells on scroll if Rash has none memorized. A commune would probably be best because of the number of questions that can be asked."
"I think that we are going to end up having to use one of our questions to the edge of the Wold to learn how to get to the court, but we should exhaust our other avenues first."
Firn'gaer Arcane Sight, Detect Magic, Endure Elements, Overland Flight, See Invisibility, Read Magic, SR18 Tuesday April 6th, 2010 11:00:21 AM
"Perhaps we may find some of the answers at home. The inevitable that has been standing in Heranmar for some time is a construct of law. It may have been sent by the Court of Law. It may have been waiting for this moment and us. A Divination or Commune may give us some answers about its part in this."
"I already know the answer to that one." The girl rogue seats herself on the grass next to the Ghost Gnome. "The answer to the question 'What is the next question we should ask that will give us the next question we should ask?' is 'What is the next question we should ask that will give us the next question we should ask?'," she says.
The dark girl frowns, and rolls to her hands and knees. Crawling into the stone gap she shouts out into the wind. "We're the Children of Chaos, and we want to save the lives of lots of folks that are getting stomped and over-migrated. We want to teleport to the Court of Law and fix this Great Migration. So here's my question: What's the best description of the Court of Law that will get us to the Court of Law using the Greater Teleportation spell?"
She'd find Wynn on her own. She'd find her own way home to Floating City. Right now, they'd have to end this thing if they were ever going to get anywhere - if they weren't going to end up like Flik the Ghost Gnome, stuck on the Edge forever.

As with the others, Xenia crawls in, feeling wind and hearing echoes of conversations that make no sense until she asks her question.
A benevolent voice speaks, "So as you can see, Xenia, there is no way to get you to the Court of Law using the Greater Teleportation spell, for the Court of Law is on another Plane. "I gotta remember to have that conversation with whoever it is gonna help us in the future ... " A puzzled look comes over her face. " ... so that I can hear it here today."

He had hoped to keep her out of it, of course he had not told her that and she jumped in and asked. "Xenia I'm afraid I do not follow how the answer to that question can be the exact question itself. I am still of the mind that asking what it is we should ask is the correct course."
A few different thoughts and scenes play through his mind as he reworks the information of what they know, what they should know, what they could already find out and thus what they needed know. Flik was essentially correct and his earlier line of thought was along the same lines and so with those two converging thoughts, Peerimus moves to ask his question.
"What question should we ask?" Peerimus lies still, for there was far more than the answer that he was interested in hearing. Thus far all had reported other echoes and the wonder that played about his mind on the fantastic nature of the Wold itself was inspiring. "...that's 3 copper...", "now I lay me down to..."
The winds die as soon as the druid asks his Question, and then Torgon's voice speaks to Peerimus... It echoes from the cliffs, and Peerimus can hear... "What is the next thing the COC need to do to eventually stop the Great Migration?"
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Wednesday April 7th, 2010 12:03:16 PM

"Bah! There's so many possibilities! But I have me an idea." Durgan crawls over to the good question spot. He works his way in, and then let's fly with a question for the Wold to answer. "Ok, here goes."
"What's the most important information we need ta know, that we don't know yet, ta stop the Migration, and set everything right again?"
Durgan strains forward a bit, curious and expectant while waiting for the answer.
When he comes out, he turns it over to Flik with a wave of his hand. "Allright then lad, it is yer own turn." Durgan signals to the others that he wants to wait and hear the gnome's question.
Kazak Stonewall.Ac 36 (Ac 41 w/Barkskin +5)Hp 212/212) Tuesday April 13th, 2010 11:35:13 PM
"Hehe .... well i'm wit on dat bro ..... after all Flik has waited 27 years for this moment ..... it desrves an audience ".... laughs Kazak
ooc" lets get this moving forward please :-)
Durgan and Flik's Questions (DMSteveK) Wednesday April 14th, 2010 12:51:10 PM
Durgan wriggles into the stone megaphone and hears the whispers of speach from all over the Wold. When he asks his question, the barest whisper arrives, and the grizzled warrior is struck with the certainty that this is a whisper of future; something that may happen, but may not...
"...the Bell and Cube must be touched at the same time by two opposing aligned heroes."
After wiggling out, it is Flik's turn. Amazingly, he shouts out and asks the same question that Durgan did! Whispering all around in the air, the winds return to the COC, and each of the heroes can hear Flik's Answer. It is the same future whisper...
"...the Valley of Ahl and the Center of the Southern Continent is the same."
And then the rock cracks and falls into shadow, disappearing like it has never been! Flik is nowhere to be seen, and the COC are left alone on a nondescript part of the EDGE of the Wold.
Durgan Stonewall (AC 34(temp33); HP 239/239) Wednesday April 14th, 2010 5:20:28 PM
"Well aint that sumthin! The gnome used his question to help us. I guess he figgered stopping the Migration was the most important question he could ask."
"Allright. let's get goin then eh?"
Xenia (AC29/, HP99/99) Wednesday April 14th, 2010 6:33:28 PM
"Yeah ... " The girl rogue stands staring at the place where the Question Cone was just moments before. "Yeah. I guess that makes the funny little ghost gnome a hero right to the end, don't it."
She sighs. Why is it that being a hero always seems to mean giving some sort of great sacrifice?
"Lets go. This place is too bleak and way depressing. No wonder no one sets up an inn here."

Peerimus AC 24 HP 131/131 and Yorrick AC 37 HP 160/160 Wednesday April 14th, 2010 9:36:29 PM
Peermius addresses The Group, "Then lets be gone." Peerimus can cast Wind walk twice and cover the group. "We move to the edge of here and the Sawgrass. If Rash and Firngaer, cannot Teleport us all across then we stay there for the bight before moving on."
The Valley of Ahl is the Center, where they first rung the Bell and defeated the northern god. That so muc hdid not bother him, but the opposing alignment did. Just how opposing did it have to be? As this was all about Order and Chaos, Peerimus hoped it would not spill over into a conflict of good and evil

" sounds good .... lets git a marching "
"Flik also was answered ......the Bell and Cube must be touched at the same time by two opposing aligned heroes....... guess dat means we hafta figure out who da opposing side is and work dis out wit dem ..... hopefully dey don't have their minds set on doing dis without us ...."
Rash Wednesday April 14th, 2010 11:31:10 PM
Rash sidles up next to Peerimus and says, "We are going to Heranmar correct? Wasn't sure if you were planning to go to this Valley of Ahl first." Rash snickers and says, "What a weird name for a valley. I wonder if you yell AHL at one end, it echos back?"
Rash feels the windwalk wash over her and starts putting one foot in front of the other. "I really need to start getting more sleep. Can't believe I asked that question.
Torgon AC: 30 HP : 169/169 Thursday April 15th, 2010 7:41:37 AM
"I do think we should go Heranmar first, as that is what we were told we should do. Why does it seem that no matter what we do, they are almost always more questions than answers."
Torgon rubs the spot where his tattoo used to be, and thinks of all the questions he yet had for that. "Guess I won't be needing to ask those" he thinks to himself
Children on the Move (DMSteveK) Thursday April 15th, 2010 8:58:20 AM
Firn'gaer states he still has three Teleportation spells, and of course, the Wilndwalk is still in effect. So a plan for the Children to immediately move out is instituted.
Windwalking from the Edge of the Edge over to the beginnings of the Sargrass, Firn'gaer then teleports half the group to the other side of the Sargrass, teleports back, and teleports a third time with the remainder of the group. Finally, the entire group Windwalks until they are at the border between the Sargrass and the watery unknown Land.
The border between the lands flare with multi-colored light and move unexpectedly, shifting and heaving in no order whatsoever.
The COC pick a place on the land far enough from the instability to not be affected, but close enough to not get the full effect of the Sargrass heat, and prepare to stop for the night. Perhaps in the morning, there will be enough multiple teleportations or other magic to get the COC all the way back to Heranmar.
It's quite a view in a way. Flying up to a high place, the rogue makes herself a little nest in which to sit and work on her new bow. On one side lies the endless plain of grass. (Really tall tall grass!) On the other side is the stark black rock and water of the place no one seems to ever have seen before. The contrast is severe. The plains, warm and almost soft from the perspective of distance, as compared to the hard cold colors of the watery land.
A pile of wood shavings grows as the rogue works. Xenia wonders whether this small white pile of chips and slivers will still be here years from now, to be found by some curious climber or flying creature. Would the detrius of her work be blown away on a stray wind? Or, would the whole of everything be destroyed, this small pile of white and brown, swallowed in the destruction of all?

While everyone is waiting to be teleported .... the dwarven warrior looks for a suitable rock near the EDGE .... finding one he unsheaths the stone sword of Turak Nor ....and uses its magical properties ..(stone shape ) ..... shaping the stone into a 3 'ft tall block of stone ... with a step .....also carving in several inscriptions .....on the front side (away from the edge) "Stone of Inspiration" ..... and on the back side ... " Flik Tarnblaster Flugelfingers ....Bard of Heroes "
Once down Kazak picks up a fist sized stone and pockets it into his haversack .......
" He should be remembered for helping us .....dat stone should be something dat lasts a long time " .... growls Kazak.....
" anytime ya ready folks ...'
with a look back at the EDGE to remember it ..... " take care of ya self Flik .....i'll tell a tale or two bout ya "
Rash Thursday April 15th, 2010 11:22:32 PM
Rash prepares to bed down for the night but then snaps her fingers and goes hunting for a piece of wood that can be turned into a suitable staff. She will carve off the bark and any other limbs and then use her miracle spell to replicate the druid spell spell staff. She will then cast her dispel magic greater into the staff for now. She will then put the whole staff into her haversack for safe keeping. She then does her ritual spell casting before bed.
She smiles up at the others as she settles into her bedroll. "I think tomorrow is going to be an interesting day and a pivotal one as well. I hope Heranmar is still there."
She will go to sleep with a satisfied look on her face and wake the next morning and prayer for her new spells.

Torgon prepares to get some sleep, and wonders what awaits the CoC.
"If mountains and the lands themselves are in such chaos, imagine what could be taking place in the cities. I wonder if the chaos affects the minds of creatures, as well as the lands. Not to always be Mr. glass half full Minotaur, but we could have crowds of crazed people running about, and buildings flying through the air. Hopefully the people in general will be as unaffected as we seem to be. Either way, we could be in for a full day."
Lands on the Move (DMSteveK) Friday April 16th, 2010 10:20:27 AM
Xenia works some more on her bow, Kazak prepares a fitting memorial for Flik, Rash is inspired to create her own Spell Staff, and Torgon worries about the effects of the continued Migration in areas with lots of people.
The COC go to be and in the morning they wake up, but the scenery has changed!
They are still on the Sargrass, but across from them is no longer the water of the unknown land. Mountains loom up, and there is a pass through the mountains several miles to the east that can easily be seen. What is even more wierd, the mountains are fading in and out like the land isn't sure it should be there or not.
Durgan and Kazak can easily recognize the mountains: they are the Gray Divide of Gateway Downs!
