"Flik, find peace within the Eternal Land of Rest." He says.
Firn'gaer casts his Secure Shelter for the group to rest in. He thinks about the Migration and the implications, should they fail. Would the lands spiral out of control and break apart? Does the Migration pose a risk to the Northern Continent as well? Will those in the Court of Law be willing to help them? What resides at the center of the Southern Continent? So many unanswered question.
Firn'gaer doesn't want to think about the scenario Torgon puts forth.
The following day, Firn'gaer will prepare the spells he's used. He again casts Overland Flight and Endure Elements on himself and his remaining Endure spells 2 others.

"You sure that's where this is?" The half-drow girl reserves her look of incredulity not for the dwarven brothers, but for the mountain pass itself, as though the feature of landscape were somehow, with full intent and deliberation, responsible for some from of trickery or deceit. "Weerdo stuff."
"Well, lets get where we need to go. We don't stop this and pretty soon we won't have no safe place to go or stand or nothing."

Rash looks at the mountains with concern and says, "We need to get going! I feel it in my bones that we are needed in Heranmar!" She activates her animated shield, keeping a hand on the straps and then pulls out her sword, planting the tip into the ground. She will then cast an augury spell asking the powers, "Should we prepare for immediate battle for when we teleport to Heranmar?"

Chaos Continent (DMSteveK) DM rolls Sunday April 18th, 2010 9:08:59 PM
The Children of Chaos hesitate as the blurry Grey Divide of Gateway Downs is before them. Rash uses the time to cast an Augury to the Powers: "Should we prepare for immediate battle for when we teleport to Heranmar?"
The answer back... Weal
Rash Sunday April 18th, 2010 10:36:19 PM
Rash holds up her hand stop any teleporting and says, "Wait! I think we are heading into a bad situation. The powers have warned me that we should be prepared for battle when we get back. Firn'gaer, can you cast a clairvoyance on Heranmar? I can scry for a person but I think seeing the location would be better.
Everyone prepare for battle! Cast your longer lasting spells, tighten your armor and ready your weapons. Let see if we can turn the trap on to them."
Just before teleporting, Rash will cast her shield of faith spell and her true seeing spells

"You still got the stupid cube, Durgan?" she calls to the dwarf. "You gotta figure that whoever's attacking Heranmar is after the Bell, the Cube or both. Even if they're not, I think we gotta go in figuring that from the start. Safer that way. Keep a look out for stealers, 'kay?"

He then casts Barkskin, Protection from Energy Acid and Fire on Yorrick as well as Freedom of Movement on Kazak. The druid sets his animated shield active.
"The bell is under the protection of my grove and we should telport directly there. Peerimus keeps his concerns for his friends, two stripes, wanderwood and Aiglin to himself, but his eyes have already taken on a darker and more angry tone. As the COC are preparing for battle, they look around and count thier seven companions.
Seven?
A quick check reveals that Jurgen and Trace are missing! The Chaos Tattoos of the heroes who still have them indicate the paladin and ranger are still alive, but location is hard to determine.
Did they wander off at the Edge? Did they get caught in some of the unstableness of the Southern Continent? No one is quite certain of when, but it is certain they are not here now.

"It happens with those two Rash and they will find thier way home sooner or later. As to Heranmar or the grove they are one in the same in my opinion. If the town is in danger or under atttack I do not want to arrive in the center of it. I want an overview of what is going on and possibly ascertain the daners."
"No, we move to the outskirts and see what is going on. Rash and Firngaer will take us to the Grove. I can scout and with the Mesage spell and Status spell of the tattoo can relay everything that is going on. There are many birds that fly about the winds above Heranamar. Ground eyes would be useful as well Xenia, but remeber those scrolls will take 10 minutes to cast."

"My spells do not last as long as yours, so we need to get a move on."
At the mentioning of the missing party members, Torgon looks around. "Huh. how did that happen? you would think we would have noticed. Perhaps it is the work of the Gods. Either way, if they are not harmed, then there is not much we can do about it now and hopefully it will sort itself out in time. Time is likely of the essence."

Peerimus casts 8 spells and sets his animated shield to floating before the druid is ready for the Teleportation to his grove. A minute has passed since his first spell.
Rash, Torgon, and Xenia all have two spells to prepare.
And Durgan drinks a single potion.
Then, with Rash and Firn'gaer timing thier spells, the entire heroic group of the Children of Chaos Teleport into the center of Peerimus' druid's grove.
.......................
On the return of the CoC to the Druid Grove, the Cube begins to shine a steady amber, even through the stone casing carried by Durgan! The Bell in the Grove pulses unpredictably in multiple colors. As the Bell pulses, the Broken Spiral Tattoos on Peerimus, Firn'gaer, Durgan, and Kazak also pulse and writhe, calling its Children closer. Calling them to the Bell!
And the reason for the call is evident.
The Grove has been a very recent battlefield. Scorch marks that look like lightning are across the ground and burned into a couple of trees. A couple are still smoking, so this hasn't happened much more than a minute or so ago. Peerimus can sense no animals close by, but the splintered form of Wanderwood is stretched out along the ground and off to one side. The Awakened Tree stirs feebly: he's still alive!
And waiting for the group are a group of Inevitables. There is a Korylaunt resplendant in red armor, 2 Maruts hulking around the Chaos Bell, and 2 Zelekants to the flank with thier wings folded close to thier centaur like bodies. Firn'gaer Highlight to display spoiler: { can also see 2 more Korylaunts in the woods behind the COC.}

The Korylaunt from the Star Mages Guild speaks. He idly waving an ivory scroll in one hand which glows in the same steady amber light as the Silver Cube. "Children of Chaos, we meet again. I am the Chamberlain of the Court of Law. You have been brought to trial in abstensia at the Court of Law on all charges relating to your weakening the fabric of Order in the Wold, reference Southern Continent."

Rash will then use the first charge of her quicken rod to cast prayer on her and the enemy (40' burst gets the two Maruts and the Korylaunt and all of the Children and Yorrick.) Everyone gets +1 on attacks rolls, damage rolls, saves and skill checks
Rash says to Xenia, "Good job girl! I would like a hit of that wand too."

Torgon sees Peerimus go offensive, and that surprises him from what he has seen of the normally reserved and thoughtful Druid. "Guess I don't wanna be messing with his trees" he thinks to himself.
"Well, looks like it's time to power up" He thinks to himself. "I haven't heard anyone say kill the Minotaur in at least a week, I'm starting to feel neglected."
Torgon casts Righteous Might ( cast defensively - 34), growing to Huge in size, and moves his chain into both hands, preparing to go to town on the inevitables.
DM Note: Torgon has a 30' reach, and will take AoO's against any bad guy moving through or otherwise allowing AoO's in his threatened area. (Attacks: 48, 48, 44, 47, 41) (damage: 35, 39, 40, 35, 41)
Kazak smiles as Xenia whispers her magical help, and reminds Peerimus that these things may have something the COC wants. However, the dwarf will follow the lead...
Durgan stands with axe and shield ready. He seems to be growling a bit, or it might just be his stomach. "It's yer call druid. Just say the word."
Peerimus's eyes flash and a deep growl rolls from his throat. The great bear and druid leap into action, but are caught short by the Readied responses of the Inevitables!

Korylaunt #1 from its hiding place behind the COC casts Enervation at Rash. The beam strikes the cleric and burdens her with 2 Negative Levels!
Korylaunt #2 from its hiding place behind the COC casts Enervation at Firn'gaer. The beam strikes the wizard and burdens him with 1 Negative Level! In an instant, many of the supporting spells of the COC are stripped away, and two heroes are under magical assault, but it is not enough to stop the attacks of the Children of Chaos..
...End READIED Actions...
Peerimus casts Fire Seed and hurls an acorn at the Chamberlain which explodes into a fiery blast of multicolored light as Peerimus' Tattoo writhes about his hand.
The great bear, nearly untouched by the Inevitables' magic, barrels into the Korylaunt Chamberlain, and Yorrick strikes with a claw... missing!
Peerimus moves up, activating his Boots of Speed and changes form to a Horned Devil, screaming his anger.
Firn'gaer coldly tells the Inevitables that they overstep their authority, and sends a Grasping Hand at Marut#2, which grabs and Grapples the Inevitable!
Rash moves over with sword and shield ready, seeing the motives of the Inevitables. She casts a blade barrier in a ring around the two Maruts hoping to slow them down and cut them off. In order to contain the Maruts without striking Yorrick with a ring of whirling blades, Rash finds it necessary to place the Maruts in the blades themselves, half in/ half out of the Blade Barrier. Marut#1 skips out unscathed but into the path of Peerimus. Peerimus gets an AOO Marut#2 gets the full strike of the blades but seems semi-protected.
Further, she Quickens a spell of Prayer divinely helping out the COC.
Torgon sees Peerimus go offensive, and that surprises him, but not enough to stop his actions! The minotaur casts Righteous Might, and moves his chain into both hands, preparing to go to town on the inevitables.

The Chamberlain sneers in obvious delight as the COC attack. "Are authority is for all Laws, unchanging forever!", it calls in its soulless voice. "In your time of wild abandonment of the Law, you have rung the Chaos Bell, an artifact of unimaginable destruction and entropy; bonded with said Bell; utilized Chaos Magic throughout the Gateway Downs and in the environs of Hook City, Dre Moria, Ice Vien, Floating City, Koshe Marr, Sargrass, and Turak Nor; destroyed Circles of Law that were intended to maintain Gateway Downs and Dre Moria contact in the event of a Great Migration; weakened the forces of order through the destruction of the Star Mages Guild and the Ga'alian Gambit; again rung the Chaos Bell initiating the Great Migration and weakening the magical forces of preservation over the entire Southern Continent; and slain the Champions of Law and stolen the Law Cube."
The Chamberlain doesn't even bother to draw his sword, but lashes out in a series of slaps against the great bear, Yorrick. Two touches strike and leave red welts of pain. ( Touch Attack: 31hit, 22hit, 11miss = 33 Damage v Yorrick, 33 Temp healing to Chamberlain)
Marut#1 concentrates, and sends a magical blast of wounds against the COC, Quickened Inflicting Light Wounds against Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, Firn'gaer, and Durgan. 21 Damage; Will DC19 for half (10) . He then concentrates to bring another spell, but can't pull it off while in melee! (failed Concentration check!)
Marut #2 tries to break the Grasping Hand's hold, but fails miserably, and suffers another round in Rash's Blade Barrier. The Grasping Hand is being shredded as well, but it looks like the Marut won't be doing anything until it gets away from Firn'gaer's magic.
Zele#1 moves around to get a clear line of sight and strikes Firn'gaer with a Quickened Dimensional Anchor. "You cannot leave, you cannot win. Your punishment is about to begin." It intones in a voice as cold as steel. The centaur automaton follows up with a spell directed at Yorrick, Hold Monster Will DC 17 or can't move.
Zele#2 mirrors the other Zele's actions, sending a Quickened Dimensional Anchor into Torgon, and another Hold Monster at Yorrick. Will DC 17 or can't move.
Kory#1 steps into the grove and sends another Enveneration ray at Firn'gaer, sucking more life from the gnome. 3 Negative Levels He speaks, "The Cube of Law is returned and the Chaos Bell is confiscated to be destroyed."
Kory#2 steps a little closer and a third Enervation ray strikes Firn'gaer! 4 Negative Levels , and continues the conversation. "By your acts and words, you are found guilty. Children of Chaos, the punishment is immediate death."
On those words, the Chaos Bell peals in anger, a beam of light striking out at the Chamberlain that is blocked by a beam of amber light from the Silver Cube near Durgan. Searing light and a cacophony of sound erupt as the two artifacts attack each other.

We're going to roll with things and not backtrack here.
OoC: Made the Save. But, I think you need to be able to see a target to affect them with cure or inflict spells. I don't think that they are Catch Everything burst effects. Could you either confirm or refute this, Steve?
BTW, many thanks for the hard work that you put into this battle. This one looks extremely difficult to keep track of.
SteveK you are right, can't target an inflict spell on someone you can't see. But I also missed Firn'gaer's Grasping Hand. Marut#2 rolled a natural 1 and so the spell was never cast!

This must be what it's like to be in the middle of a full out siege battle. So much terrible sound and fire. The rogue's first instinct is to flee. Stripped of her magic - most of it - she floats gently to the surface of the Wold. Grounded.
She could run. The Mecha don't seem to have noticed her yet. The Chaos Tattoo is gone. These Mecha are serious. It's in their voices. Their voices sound of death. The rogue watches as poor Fernie is wizened to a husk of his former self. If she doesn't stick around, if they don't all work together, they're all dead.
The dark muscles of the rogue's smooth cheek tighten as she clenches her teeth. It would make so much sense to run. But she doesn't. Reaching out again, Xenia triggers the wand, restoring the chaotic alignment to Kazak's sword.
"Go get'em," she whispers before moving on to hid in Minotaur Torgie's shadow. Yeah. Sure. Running makes sense. But sometimes doing what makes sense is different from doing what is right. And sometimes, you just gotta do what's right.

Xenia overcomes her instincts and stays, proving by heroic action that she is part of the Children of Chaos. Reaching out again, Xenia triggers her wand, restoring the chaotic alignment to Kazak's sword, then hiding in Torgon's shadow.
Kazak spins towards Kory#2 and launches himself at the Inevitable, striking twice!
Durgan retrieves a potion from his haversack and drinks it, calling on the Kory#1 to pick on someone his own size. (Retrieve from Handy Haversack is a move action; drinking is a standard action. Durgan can't move anymore this round.) The Inflict Light Wounds strikes true and bleeds the dwarf for full damage.
OOC: When the dispels were cast, Peerimus was not a Horned Demon and so did not have an SR 28. Oops on the Inflict spell; DM just rolled and got a 35; passing SR; half damage.
Peerimus uses an opportunity to strike at the Marut, but misses.
Yorrick is affected by the Inflict Light Wounds, but overcomes both attempted Hold Monster spells (DM rolled 15 fail, 24, 23 success), and continues after Korylaut but comes up with nothing. The Inflict Light Wounds strikes true and bleeds the bear for full damage.
Peerimus goes after the Marut with claws and fangs, striking four times. Every hit of claw or fang sparks and lights, searing the Marut like a chaotic aligned weapon! The Horned Demon is now covered in Broken Spiral Tattoos, hundreds of them all over the scaly body!
Rash calls out orders for the COC, but it looks like most of them are fighting their own battles. She moves to Firn'gaer and casts a restoration spell that eliminates all negative levels on the wizard. Finally, she casts a Quickened Divine Favor to get ready for battle.
Torgon swings his chain and connects with Kory#2 three times. Without a Chaos Tattoo of his own, the minotaur's damage is less than it would otherwise be, but he still slams the Korylaunt hard enough to rip it to pieces!
.............
The Chamberlain slaps again at the great brown bear. "You are guilty of crimes against reality!", calls the Chamberlain, "your punishment is death." Two slaps hit Yorrick, causing more life to drain from the bear and into the Chamberlain. (Yorrick loses 39 Damage; Chamberlain gains 39 Temp) Its body begins to put itself back together.
Marut#1 finds it is in an unfavorable situation by fighting fist to claw with the Shapechanged Druid. He tries to strike with a fist, and, missing, moves to the edge of the grove to get some breathing room. Peerimus gets an AOO Little automatons seem to flow out of the Inevitable, repairing damage, fixing leaks.
Marut #2 finally gets out of Firn'gaer's Grasping Hand by Dim Dooring away and out of the Blade Barrier. The Grasping Hand succumbs to the Blade Barrier and dissipates. The Marut then targets Rash, Firn'gaer, Durgan, Torgon, and Yorrick with a Quickened Inflict Mass Light Wounds causing each hero 18 Damage (Will DC 19 for 9) Wires and gears pull broken metal together, helping to repair the Inevitable.
Zele#1 sees the greatest threat to the group is a buffed Torgon and casts Targeted Dispel Magic against the minotaur, stripping but one spell from the warrior. Fly: (DC 15) 15 : Spell gone! Kory#1 looks at Durgan and hits him with a Quickened Suggestion. "You look tired. You should lay down on the ground for a while. (Will DC 17 or comply). It then hits Firn'gaer with another Enervation ray, setting 3 Negative Levels on the wizard.
The Chaos Bell has green sparks, red whorls, and the scent of jasmine flowers arcing around the Druid's Grove. Lightning arcs at the Inevitables which is blocked by measured shots of amber light from the Cube of Law. The CoC momentarily all become Blurs, but it is quickly countered by the Cube of Law.
The Cube of Law blasts away the last of the stone that used to hold it, and continues to shoot amber beams of coherent light at the Chaos Bell.

Torgon saves vs. the inflict spell, taking 9 damage. He then feels three more spells stripped away by the dispel magics of the Zele's. He growls menacingly at them, and plans on using his ring of counterspells with dispel magic in it to stop the next such effect directed his way.
"Thank you Xenia. That should help." says Torgon as Xenia aligns his weapon to the Chaotic.
He would love to teach the Zele a lesson, but the nearby Marut is already injured, and a more appealing target. He takes a 5' step toward M1, and directs all his swings at the injured Marut, power attacking by 4. (if for some reason he can't, he will aim everything at Z2)

Peerimus slashes at the retreating Marut [Hit AC 34 dmg 21]
With another deafening roar, Peerimus and Yorrick shift 5' to the south and claws fangs and the great tail of Peerimus's current form all tear into the Korylaut in an attempt to take down the Chamberlain. Yorrick Hits AC 44/42/29/27 Dmg 24 plus Fire 3/17 plus Fire 6 Grapple 47
Peerimus strikes AC 44/28/46/34/41 Dmg 18/miss/17/17/17
Peerimus's mind reaches out to the Cleric"Rash Yorrick needs you!"
The blinding rage begins to subside and the druids head clears. The Chamberlain needed to be lain low. Rash was taking charge of the combat and he could see Torgon wading in. What to do about the dispelling magic. What could be done. The inevitables would try to wear them down, keep pressing and pressing until they would finally succumb. Peerimus catches a glimpse of Wanderwood and part of his mind reaches out to his friend. "Rest easy and see to your wounds."

Xenia reaches up and casts Align Weapon on Torgon's chain, then moves off next to Durgan.
Torgon growls menacingly at the Inevitables, thanks Xenia, and tears into the Marut, striking only twice, but setting large chaos-sized dents in its body!
Peerimus slashes at the retreating Marut, damaging it more with multi-colored flashes of light. Then, with another deafening roar, Peerimus and Yorrick shift 5' to the south, enabling both the Devil and the Bear to rip into the Chamberlain!
Yorrick strikes twice without any fireworks, and his claws do not seem to find any hold... they slide right off the Chamberlain.
Peerimus hits three times with a strobing effect which further wounds the Inevitable. With all the attacks striking the Chamberlain, it still only looks like only the magical vitality of the Chamberlain was affected.
Wanderwood stirs feebly, as if in the middle of a fevered dream.
Kazak heads to help his brother and Firn'gaer .....charging at K1 and taunting the pile of junk.
Durgan runs by Firn'gaer and hits the kolyarut as well. (ooc: no charge as there is no open straight line to K1). The dwarf strikes, and his Tattoo flares chaotically, denying the Kolyarut any protection.
Rash is caught between bolstering the Children or wading into the fray. She elects to help cure, which indicates that even someone as rash as Rash can hold back her instincts! Yorrick is cured for 42 (Ooc: moved Rash slightly different in response to Yorrick's move.)
Firn'gaer asks Lhari to set up a Wall of Force to block K1 and Z1 from the group, which the staff does quickly. The fast thinking wizard then pulls and reads a scroll, setting in an anti-magic field around his person, and then moving next to the Cube of Law! The brilliant idea works out less well in practice, for Xenia and Durgan are now magic-less along with Firn'gaer and Lhari. Further, the Cube of Law appears unaffected: it is obviously a powerful artifact!
.............
The Chamberlain seems to read Peerimus' mind. "The tree attempted to stop us from taking the Chaos Bell, and has paid for its interference. As long as it stays there, there is no reason to further attack it. It was good that the tree was your only servant rash enough to stand against us." The Chamberlain slaps Yorrick three more times, inflicting massive wounds at each touch before disappearing from in front of the bear and devil! SpellCraft DC 18 Highlight to display spoiler: {Quickened Invisibility} Yorrick takes 52 damage For those who have See Invisible or the like (not Xenia or Firn'gaer as they are in the Antimagic Field) Highlight to display spoiler: {Chamberlain moved through the Blade Barrier with minor damage to N,18)}
Marut#1 stands its ground, concentrates, and successfully casts a Quickened Inflict Light Wounds on Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, and Torgon[/i]. 16 Damage to Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, and Kazak; DC 19 Will for 8. He then concentrates again, and the earth begins to rumble, shaking and cracking. Great fissures open up in the ground, threatening to swallow up the heroes!
Firn'gaer, Xenia, and Durgan are unaffected. Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, Torgon, Kazak, K1 and Z1; DC15 Reflex or fall prone. Yorrick and Rash; DC 20 Reflex or fall into a Fissure which opens beneath their feet/paws.
Marut #2 moves up a little and sends another Quickened Inflict Light Wounds at Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, the now-visible Xenia, Durgan, Firn'gaer, and Kazak. The anti-magic field protects Firn'gaer, Durgan, and Xenia from any affects, but the others feel the bite of the spell! 22 Damage to Peerimus, Yorrick, Rash, and Kazak; DC 19 Will for 11. Further, the Marut focus' on Peerimus for a Targeted Greater Dispel Magic, attempting to strip him of some protections, but it fails to affect even one spell on the druid!

Zele#1 easily avoids the Earthquake and takes its opportunity to charge a less defended Durgan. Wings unfurl and its hands become two spiked chains as the centaur-like Inevitable charges across the sky to plow into the Dwarf. Without the magic of his armor, shield, or ring, Durgan is more vulnerable, and two morningstars strike the dwarf! In Antimagic Field, Durgan AC26: Attack 26, 28; Dam 28, 29
Zele#2 turns its hands into 2 spiked chains and takes a step forward, slashing at Torgon but not able to get through the minotaurs tough armor!
Kory#1 keeps on its feet, and lightly moves around the earthquake zone to place Zele 1 between himself and the dwarf brothers. Before he moves, he attempts to cast a quickened spell without exposing itself, but the spell fizzles. Once away from the dwarves, Kory#1 sends a beam of Enervation at Peerimus, striking the druid, but not getting through the devil's spell resistance. (AC 20, SR 18 fail)
(ooc: I'm tracking Peerimus' touch AC at 16 [--1 size, +7 Dex], and actual AC 49 (Devil: 35 + 4 for animated shield, +4 for ring, +6 Barkskin. All other magical protections are not Wildshaped with Peerimus' current form per Wold Wildshape rules. So what are you tracking that I'm missing?)
The Chaos Bell blurs and distorts like a Salvador Dali painting, and the best kaffe Xenia has ever smelled scents the entire grove. A gate opens, and hungry Balors begin to walk through, but a beam of amber light closes the gate too quickly for any lasting effect. More amber beams of coherent light fly at the Children of Chaos and the Chaos Bell, all of which end harmlessly in multi-colored sparklers.

Xenia (AC33/, HP99/99) Monday April 26th, 2010 5:36:10 PM
OoC: Where is the Wall of Force that Lhari just cast? Is it that curved green line? If so, should it not block, for example, Marut #2 from casting Inflict Light Wounds upon Yorrick, Rash, the now-visible Xenia, Durgan, Firn'gaer, and Kazak? The write up of Wall of Force says that spells cannot pass through the wall in either direction, although dimension door, teleport, and similar effects can bypass the barrier.
SteveK: I forgot to put it on the map, but the Wall of Force is on the 10/11 line from A all the way to Wanderwood and 10 feet tall. The Marut is over 10 feet tall and so can cast spells over the Wall. The Zele flew over the wall to attack Durgan.

...the Bell and Cube must be touched at the same time by two opposing aligned heroes ...
The words ring in the dark girl's head. And the Court of Law. That's who we got here. The Court of Law. The Bell and the Cube. All here. All now.
Exposed. That's the feeling. Visible, stripped of her magic, and under the giant chains of the Flying Horse Mecha. Xenia dives into a cartwheel and springs from her hands into a tight ball from which she launches into an arching dive. Once outside of Firn'gaer's 'weerdo null magic field' the rogue dives quickly into shadow, triggers her wand and touches Momma Rash's sword.
"Durgan. It's you and me," Xenia calls. "We touch at the same time. Like the Whispering Winds said. You got the cube. I'll take the bell. Same time, got it? I'll say when." And the rogue casts a look over her shoulder at the two walls between her and the Chaos Bell - one wall of force, the other of blades. She'd have to get over both to get there.

I was tracking my Monks belt giving an addition +9 deflection AC and did the inflict spells both get pass the SR 28?
The spells fly about Peerimus and Yorrick. The bear manages to shake one off, but takes the full brunt of the second. [Will 20/11 Dmg 8/22] Peerimus is easily able to dismiss most of the pain from the spells [Will 36/35 Dmg 88/11 assuming SR 28 was penetrated]
Yorrick was more of a liability unfortunately and with the Maruts able to Dispel at Will, enhancing Yorricks considerable strength would only take him from the battle as well.
The ground rocks beneath his feet, though it causes him no difficulties. [Reflex 29] Yorrick avoids the fissure [Reflex 32] and with the command from Peerimus to pull himself to saftey, Yorrick complains but obeys. The great bear withdraws to the west 100' moving slightly south to not cross directly over the Cube.
Peerimus moves northwest [I/15] and attacks Z1. [PA 2 Hit AC 43/37/32/31 Dmg 20/20/20/16] If the brothers took down Z1, Peerimus moves straight north to engage K1 and strikes just once [AC 43 Dmg 20]
Telepathically the driud reaches out to Torgon, "After you strike step to the north, don't let yourself be pulled to far away"

The ground shakes, but it does little to affect the balance of the huge Minotaur. Hearing Peerimus' warning, Torgon takes a 5' step to the North East, toward the bell, making sure to stay away from the anti magic Zone. As he takes his step, he calls out "The Chamberlain has cast greater invisibility". The CoC probably for the most part are already aware, but it couldn't hurt. What's gonna hurt is when it starts beating the tar out of people that can't see it. "Someone needs to see invisible so that we have an idea where he is." Torgon yells out as well.
Torgon swings everything at Z2, hoping to cause the metal beast some damage. (power att 5)

Kazak maintains his balance and steps over to Zele1, and strikes the Ineviatble twice, blue and mauve sparks flying all about! (ooc: Kazak gets an AOO vs Kory1 since the Inevitable did not withdraw last round.)
Durgan grunts his approval of his brother's plan, keeps his own balance, steps out of the antimagic filed and unloads on the zelekut, also striking twice. (ooc: Constructs have no critical areas) (ooc: Durgan gets an AOO vs Kory1 since the Inevitable did not withdraw last round.)
Xenia has no trouble with the earthquake. She dives into a cartwheel and springs into a dive out of the Antimagic Field. The rogue dives into shadow, triggers her wand and touches Momma Rash's sword. (ooc: placing Xenia at I,18 to be next to Rash and out of the Anti-magic Field.
Yorrick is becoming a target and liability in the battle, keeping his four paws on the ground but getting pounded by spells. Peerimus sends the bruin away. With a complaint, the bear shambles towards the woods, soon lost amidst the trees.
Peerimus moves slightly and focuses on Zele1, smashing the wounded Inevitable into an unmoving pile of wires and gears!
Rash easily avoids the earthquake and takes minor damage from the inflict spells, though they are starting to add up! She casts quickened spiritual hammer to whack Kory1 hitting once. The cleric then follows up by backing Kory1 into the Wall of Force and getting in a wicked cut with sour lime tasting sparks.
The ground shakes, but it does little to affect the balance of Torgon. The huge minotaur takes a step toward the bell and ensures he stays away from the anti magic Zone. As he takes his step, he calls out and pounds Zele2 with two heavy chains to the torso! (ooc: I really appreciate the AOO rolls, helps immensely in most situations.)
.............
The Chamberlain walks unseen until he appears by striking Torgon with a painful touch. He then winks out of sight once more! Spellcraft DC18 Highlight to display spoiler: {Quickened Invisibility}. Torgon takes 20 damage See InvisibilityHighlight to display spoiler: { Chamberlain is at K,21}
Marut#1 continues to stand and focus on Torgon with Greater Dispel Magic spells. This one is particularly effective and cancels ALL Torgons active spells!
And yet another Quickened Mass Inflict Light Wounds stabs out against Rash, Durgan, and Kazak (Peerimus not affected SR) Rash, Durgan, and Kazak take 20 Damage; Will DC 19 for half
Marut #2 seeking a different way to attack Peerimus, the Inevitable sends a Chain Lightning to strike the Devil, passing his Spell Resistance, and then forking to Rash, Durgan, Kazak, and Torgon. (Marut can't see Xenia) Peerimus takes 58 damage, Rash=24, Durgan=31, Kazak=27, and Torgon=28 ; Reflex DC 20 for half.
And yet another Quickened Mass Inflict Light Wounds stabs out against Rash, Durgan, and Kazak (Peerimus not affected SR) Rash, Durgan, and Kazak take 18 Damage; Will DC 19 for half
Zele#2 takes a step to get Torgon in range and strikes with its 2 spiked chains, but not to hurt, but to bind up Torgon's chain! The first chain is a perfect shot and sends the minotaur's spiked chain out of his hands and on the ground! The second chain misses Torgon.
Kory#1 successfully combat casts Invisibility and moves off unseen.
The Chaos Bell divides and cubes itself into Picasso expressionist, smelling like skunk cabbage, and the air tastes like a too-salty steak. The Cube of Law never varies, amber beams of coherent light flying and failing to find a mark on the Children of Chaos and the Chaos Bell, all of which end harmlessly in multi-colored sparklers.

Xenia (AC33/ HP99/99) Tuesday April 27th, 2010 1:07:14 PM
The dark rogue inches toward the Bell and the whirling barrier of blades that protects it. Maybe it would be best to kill down the Mechas before trying to work the Bell and Cube? 'Specially since there's no surety that Durgan heard her just now. From her magic bag, the rogue takes a scroll that may help with the Mechas what are turning themselves unvisible.
"Ten paces northeast of Torgie!" the rogue cries out. "Two o'clock, Torgie! Two o'clock."
Xenia calls out the position of the most human looking Mecha before calling out to Durgan. "Ready, Durgan? I'm going for the Bell. Touch on my mark." (Also give away the position of Kory#1.)

OOC: I just want to double check with you on the disarm. He and I both have the same size, and two handed weapon, so it should come down to my attack modifier +10 vs. his attack modifier + 1d20 + imp disarm if he has it. Just wanted to double check as Torgon is pretty hard to disarm.
Torgon fails to move quickly enough, taking full damage from the Chain Lightning. To top that off, The Chamberlain just tagged him for a bunch more, and all his spells were shut down, costing him even more. And he is now unarmed as well. All in all, Torgon thinks that was a pretty painful few seconds.
With no spells up, no weapon in hand, a good amount of damage done to him, and only himself between three big bad guys and everyone else, it seems a good time for the Minotaur to withdraw. "Courage is one thing, suicide is another." He thinks to himself. Torgon withdraws to B/C 19/20 to heal up and re-prepare himself for combat, with or without his chain.
SteveK: I was surprised myself, but the Zele rolled really well. 36 +4(imp Dis) +4(Large)= 44 vs Torgon's 10(base)+23(base attack)+4(Imp Dis)+4(Large)= 41 It was one of those desperation moves that occationally works.

Some of the wounds on the Devil Peerimus heal up and then the Lightning blazes in. Peeirmus twists sideways and the most powerful bolts streak pass, but he is not unscathed in the attack. [Reflex 28 Dmg 29]

The Druid's Grove at Heranmar, Round 6 (Hero Actions) (DMSteveK) Wednesday April 28th, 2010 1:48:30 PM There were several DM changes to intended moves because it didn't make tactical sense. This here is an opportunity for Players to change a post if they feel it necessary.
Kazak and Durgan smash Kory1 as it moves away, furthering the damage, but not dropping the construct. ...............................
Xenia inches toward the Bell and the whirling barrier of blades. She reads a scroll and starts calling out locations of the Invisible Korys fighting the COC.
Torgon is buffeted and withdraws to heal up and re-prepare himself for combat, with or without his chain.
Kazak charges at Marut2 but is brought up short against Firn'gaer's Wall of Force.
Durgan says 'durned' a lot. That, and 'blast'. He moves out with Xenia's plan and gets ready to touch the Cube of Law.
Peerimus shifts into an Elder Air elemental, flying by the Marut and giving a ineffectual attack before dropping back into Horned Devil form.
Firn'gaer thinks about moving out of the Antimagic shell, but remembers that Antimagic Fields move with the caster. Instead of moving the field to cover Xenia again, the gnome stays put and keeps his spell. Further, Lhari can't reach beyond the field while in Firn'gaer's hand, and so the intelligent staff doesn't cast either. (ooc: DM adjustment of Firn'gaer's move based on he would know about the Antimagic properties)
(ooc: George: I think I still get an AOO vs Kory1 casting a spell. It would have just made its concentration check and the spell still goes off. Hit ac 31 for 33 points of damage)
(ooc: SteveK nope. The concentration check enables a caster to cast without incurring an AOO. If the concentration check fails, the spell fails, but there would still be no AOO.) Highlight to display spoiler: { Casting on the Defensive: Casting a spell while on the defensive does not provoke an attack of opportunity. It does, however, require a Concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) to pull off. Failure means that you lose the spell.}
Rash casts greater spell immunity making herself immune to mass inflict light wounds, invisiblity, and enervation. Finding Kory1 she sends her spiritual weapon against it, missing. She then moves to just outside the Antimagic field (ooc: small DM move for Player intent) and prepares to make mincemeat out of the construct the following round.
(ooc: I'm allowing Spell Immunity v Invisibility in this fight. I like the out-of-the-box thinking, but not sure you can be immune to a spell that doesn't target you. I'll post on Rules Board.)
The Chamberlain is only seen by Xenia and Rash. It can't see where Xenia is at the moment, but can hear the rogue call out. He unsheathes his sword and strides over to where the rogue's voice is coming from, waiting for an opportunity to attack. Small machines are busy repairing the wounds in the Inevitable.
Marut#1 moves forward and turns its focus of targeted Greater Dispel Magic spells on Rash. Again, the magic is effective, cancelling all but two of Rash's active spells! Small machines are busy repairing the wounds in the Inevitable.

Marut #2 successfully defensively casts Dim Door and disappears, only to reappear on the other side of the clearing. Small machines are busy repairing the wounds in the Inevitable.
Zele#2 charges the seemingly defenseless Torgon, flailing at the minotaur with two Spiked Chains! One misses, but the second scores hard, fuelled by the Spirited Charge of the Inevitable! Torgon takes 30 damage +1 electrical damage
Kory#1 fires an Enervation Ray at Rash, striking the cleric but having no effect! The Kory is now visible, and begins moving around to get to the other Inevitables.
The Chaos Bell grows transluceant, the smell of a high end brothel fills the air. The Cube of Law never varies, amber beams of coherent light flying and failing to find a mark on the Children of Chaos and the Chaos Bell, all of which end harmlessly in multi-colored sparklers.

The rogue jumps from shadow to shadow, diving through Momma Rash's barrier of whirling translucent blades. No longer liked to the other Chaos Guys by the magic of the Tattoos, the Xenia fails to pick up Peerimus' injunction against activating the artifacts of Chaos and Law.
"NOW, DURGAN!" she calls out as she reaches out a gloved hand to touch the Chaos Bell.

[Spontaneous casting Heighten Sunbeam to SNA IX] He would need to aquire a Rod of Quickening when this was over, perhaps go back to sea for a week or two and look for the Tritons. His mind comes back to the spell casting and the likely responces from his opponents. They were buying time, trying to wear down the Champions of Chaos. There is just too much going on for her to notice, however, and the lithe rogue smacks her hand on the Chaos Bell. The Bell sputters like a crazy gnomish device, and a thousand needles seem to pierce Xenia's hand. It is only for a moment, too fast to do anything other than register the shock, and the Chaos Tattoo again stands prominently on the drow girl. Nothing else happens, however.
Peerimus is happy he is behind the Wall of Force, and uses the covering wall to safely summon aid through a spontaneously cast Summon Nature Ally IX spell!
Rash wished her Ring of Counterspells worked more than once (Rash was struck twice in the first round of battle from a Greater Dispel Magic and did not lose spells.), and frets as her spells wash away like petals in a river. Prayer, Divine Favor, Align Weapon, Haste are Dispelled. The cleric slides over to Kory1 and strikes. The Kory1 is leaking oil and grinding gears, but it is still moving!
Kazak dashes across the Grove, manuvering behind Zele2 to sandwich it between himself and Torgon. Amazingly enough, his route avoids both Korys and the Marut so only Zele2 takes a swing at him with a spiked chain, missing!
Durgan reaches out a gauntlet covered hand and touches the Cube when Xenia touches the Bell. The Cube of Law reacts violently to Durgan's Chaos Tattoo and with a whistling shriek, the Tattoo is stripped from the dwarf. No other actions seem to happen, however, to the Lawful Good dwarf, and so he turns to face off with Zele1.
Torgon pulls his longsword and swings at Zele2 who is now flanked by Kazak, but misses, and calls for the healers.
Firn'gaer dismisses the antimagic shell, allowing Lhari to send a chain lightning at the Inevitables! Zele2 is seriously hurt, but the Maruts are able to avoid most of the blast.
The Chamberlain moves to Rash and strikes the cleric once with but a touch... a Vampiric Touch which drains life from Rash and bolsters the Inevitable. "You get weaker but we become stronger", the Chamberlain tells Rash in an implacable voice, "be resigned to the verdict and be still!" (Touch attack AC 29 Rash loses 20 hit points

(AC 34, 38 Kazak Dam: 23 + 10 Electricity + Fort DC31 or Blind for 6 rounds)
Zele#2 changes targets and flings its spiked chains against Kazak, missing with both. Bits of broken gears and sparks from wires fly, but like the slow movement of a glacier, the machines goal will inevitably be fulfilled. (AC 22, 20)
Kory#1 stands its ground with the Chamberlain's arrival and touches Rash three times with its Vampiric Touch. (Touch AC 27, 28, 25; Dam: 14, 15, 17 [b]Rash takes 46 damage
Both Bell and Cube given and taken a Tattoo, and the battle between the two artifacts intensifies. Sounds, smells, flashes, zephyrous touches assault everything in the grove, but the artifacts are too evenly matched and are not able to overcome each other to actually affect the titanic struggle.
The mayhem continues.

Jammblies! So that's how that works? Those are the first thoughts through the rogue's head after recovering from the shocking feelings that accompany the return of her tattoo. This'll be a problem for Durgan. But now, at least, they know how to go 'bout fixing it.
Xenia eyes the Cube, wishing that there were something she could do to shut it down. The Bell would fix them mechas real quick then.
But the Cube is too far into the thick of the melee right now for her to try anything against it. She'd have to try something else to help. She calls on her magic boots to lend wings to her feet and draws a scroll in preparation to spring into action.

OOC: As Rash and Torgon were struck with multiple Dispel Magic and Greater Dispel Magic spells on the first Readied action of the Inevitables, both heroes Ring of Counterspells are used. "...should that spell ever be cast upon the wearer, the spell is immediately countered, as a counterspell action, requiring no action (or even knowledge) on the wearer's part." "Upon the wearer" equals within the area of effect, just like a Fireball could be countered. Further, if the spell is countered, "...as if a counterspell action...", then the entire spell was countered. Therefore, DM ruling for this battle is the following effects on the PCs are in effect.
.................
The Chaos Bell sends little balls of sparklie lightning that smells like different cities that the COC have been in all about the Grove. Amber beams strike most of the balls, but one or two land on each hero, imbuing them with magical protections!
Rash I saddened by the loss of many of her protective spells (Haste, Divine Favor, Align Weapon, and Prayer are gone) casts a quickened cure serious on herself, then whirls to the offensive only striking once, and removing some of the Kory's temporary vitality.
Kazak calls to the Maruts, " bout time you guys joined da party ...", and smashes Marut #2 three times, sparks flying off the Stone Sword.
Peerimus completes his spell, bringing an Elder Air elemental to the fray directly above the cleric. It decends and strikes Kory1 once.
Peerimus then takes flight to the east and upwards and calling a burning pillar of flames to strike both Korylants without hitting Rash. Kory1 is able to dodge some of the blast, but the Chamberlain took the full brunt. Both are still standing and targeting Rash with their red glowing eyes!
Xenia is surprised by the actions of Cube and Bell. She calls on her magic boots to lend wings to her feet and draws a scroll in preparation to spring into action. (ooc: Post says no move, and G8. DM assuming Xenia intends no move and stays at N,17)
Torgon pounds Zele2, creating two more damaged spots, but not enough to turn it into a pile of junk, then moves slightly to get into a more advantageous position.
Firn'gaer casts his own Empowered Acid Chain Lightning arcing across the Inevitables, bathing them in acid. Only Marut 1 and Zele 2 are effected, but both bear the full brunt of the spell, and Zele 2 falls into a pile of used parts!
.............
The Chamberlain ignores the Elemental and concentrates on Rash. "The summoned creatures are but obstacles and of no account when the prize is before us. Die and fulfill your destiny!" The soulless voice echoes with only one purpose, the death of all the Children of Chaos! (Touch attack AC 26, 18, 17 Rash loses 47 hit points). Gears seem to repair themselves.
Marut#1 moves a step to pin Kazak between the two Maruts. The move must have confused the dwarf, for both massive fists pound Kazak! (AC 48 Crit! 47; 47 Dam 22+10 elec, Crit23+11 elec , 20+7 sonic) Kazak loses 93 damage + Fort Dc 31 or Blind 5 rounds+ Fort DC 31 or Deafened 4 rounds

Kory#1 bores in to finish off Rash, slapping out with Vampiric Touches, but only lands a single touch! (Touch AC 27, 12miss, 9miss; Dam: 21 [b]Rash takes 21 damage
Both Bell and Cube renew their attacks around the Grove, lights, beams, smells, sounds. A great cacophony rises up above the trees in the titanic struggle. Flashes of movement are seen just outside the Grove, a moving shadow, a hovering eye, a nameless watchfulness. With fallen on each side, this battle is going down to the last one standing in the mayhem!

Rash collapses under the onslaught and falls unconcious at -4 hps. She gets close to stabalizing on her own but doesn't.
Down! They're both down! She's got the scroll in her hand, but which one to save? In the end it comes down to who is closest. In this case, it's Peerimus who's closest to Momma Rash, and so Xenia jets back through the barrier of whirling death blades, curving her body to avoid the razor sharp fields of force.
Twist. Turn. Avoid. She slips past the big Mechas that surround Kazak. And with a quick read from the scroll, the rogue slams her hand down on the dwarf's armor.
Only after the glowy healing magic surrounds the dwarf does she remember that this is the scroll what Durgan bought. He'd probs want it used on his brother better anyway.

He takes a --2 penalty to Armor Class, loses his Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), moves at half speed, and takes a --4 penalty on Search checks and on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Spot checks) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) to the blinded character. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.
Deafened: A deafened character cannot hear. She takes a --4 penalty on initiative checks, automatically fails Listen checks, and has a 20% chance of spell failure when casting spells with verbal components. Characters who remain deafened for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

Time to kill down another one of these Mechas. While they're standing they won't stop. Springing back from Kazak, Xenia bounds from one place to the next. With one last jump out of the danger zone, the rogue triggers the wand in her hand again and reaches out to tag Durgan's axe.
"Beat him down, Durgan!" she cries from the concealment of Durgan's shadows. "Kill the Mecha down!"

"Fram," the rogue swears. "He got away." Her dark cheek dimples in a moue of irritation as she stares up at the place from which the Mecha had disappeared.
"We go into Heranmar and find the guy who I heard in the Echo Rock, Torgie," Xenia answers the question as she surveys the carnage. Peerimus' beautiful grove is a mess. His tree friend is hurt pretty bad. The metal parts of the broken Mechas litter the ground. A mess. Yup. It's a mess. At least the Chaos Guys look pretty free from death.
"We got the Bell and we got the Cube. That's a step in the right direction. Now we find the guy who said he was gonna help us get to the Court of Law when we first saw him in Heranmar. Or ... see him in Heranmar. Or, sump'in."
"You can come in now." Without warning, the rogue cups her hands around her mouth and calls out to the things that have been watching at the outer edge of the glade. "All the killing down's done with. I'm surprised anyone with sense would come even this close with all the fighting going on." Only after these words does she actually look to see what might be watching. "I figure if you didn't jump into the fight, that you're not looking to get into one."
Then, Xenia promptly turns away, leaving the indistinct figures to be dealt with by the other Chaos Guys. Instead, she quickly sifts through the remains of the Mechas, in search of salvageable stuff.

Bell and Cube (DMSteveK) Thursday May 6th, 2010 4:51:10 PM
The Chamberlain is gone and the other Inevitables are junk, but the Cube of Law and the Chaos Bell are still here. As the Chamberlain disappears, the Cube falls silent, no more amber beams, no more glowing. No more force of law affecting the Gateway Downs....
And the Chaos Bell revels. From deep inside of the Children, they feel a pressure building around the grove until the great bell tolls. There is no answering sound or light from the Silver Cube, and the results are devastating. Like a pebble dropped in a pool, the ground ripples outwards from the Chaos Bell in all directions, causing walls to buckle, trees to fall, and buildings to collapse. But only some. The wave seems completely random as to the effects on Heranmar and expanding ever outward to all the Gateway Downs. Trees and animals turn different colors, blink in and out, sections of earth pull up and fly away!
The moment of complete Chaos ends with the effects remaining. Wanderwood is completely healed, but the bark over his wounds is now a bright pink!
But the foreboding of the CoC remains. Without the stabilizing effect of Law against Chaos, what changes and entropy will will occur. The only thing the COC are certain of is that the effects will increase. And it is coming soon.

Xenia and Kazak call to the hidden watchers to make themselves known.
Xenia, Kazak, Durgan, and Torgon look to set up some healing and comb the wreckage for valuables.
Rash and Peerimus are on pins and needles about the escape of the Chamberlain. Rash calls out instructions, and Peerimus sends his Elemental friend to Heranmar while the druid himself going straight up to seek the Inevitable himself. But the Chamberlain is nowhere to be found: well and truely escaped.
....................
The Elemental reports back soon enough; there is no attack or action happening at Heranmar other than the random effects from the Chaos Bell. One section of the east wall fell down, three roofs changed different colors, and several citizens are highly aggitated since they are now a different gender. But no attack and no Inevitable.
....................
Wanderwood is amused that he now has pink stripes on his brown bark. "I will be fine, Father", he tells Peerimus. "I defended the Grove as you asked, but they were too powerful. Two-Stripes and her family fled and were not pursued, and Redwing was also spared. The soul-machines did not do anything other than arrive and wait."
..................
Of the watchers, the Children get the impression that some have departed. At Xenia's call, the black-clad man hops off the tree branch and mockingly bows. "My associates tell me here is where I will find the Champions of Chaos, and bid me give you a package; this Bag of Holding." He tosses the bag to the ground in front of Xenia, and laughing, disappears into shadows. Inside, Xenia can find white diamonds, blood red rubies, jade emeralds, blue sapphires, amber topaz, aqua tourmalines, the blackest onyx, two exquisitely carved Tecuri ivories, and a single flashing purple alexanderite: all worth 105,000 gold!
As soon as the Shadowdancer is gone, a puff of brimestone and a flare of heat appear at the southern end of the grove. The giant six-limbed woman with the body of a snake writhes and casts hate filled eyes at the Children. "A Gift, mortals, for thy service this day, and thy trials to come!" She is gone, but where she was lays an Iron Flask
No sooner has the Marilith disappeared, but another watcher approaches through the trees; it is the Daughter of the Crones! Those COC who have stayed in Heranmar before recognize this unassuming cleric. The Daughter is on the Heranmar Council and resides among the Standing Stones to the south of the town. Seldom does she speak, but when she does, it is often with the wisdom born from her complete submission to her chosen Powers. "Law has fled, and ever greater changes are upon us. Bidden by the Crones, the protectors of the Gateway Downs are to be given a gift. Use it well." The Daughter lays in the grass a deck of large playing cards. "It is a Deck of Many Things to assist you through your quest."
The piles of junk are useless except for scrap, but valuable hardened metal scrap. The COC can sell the stuff for 5,000gp
The only other thing in the grove is the 2 Korylaunt longswords, each a +2 weapon. ..................

Torgon stares in amazement at the pile of gems from the bag of holding. "Wow, that's a lot of gems. Thanks to Rash's healing, I am ready to go when you all are. We have a valley to find, and a migration to halt."
Torgon looks himself over for a second. "Nothing... uh.. changed colors on me anywhere did it?" he asks.
Xenia (AC33/ HP99/99) Friday May 7th, 2010 4:19:29 PM
"Sparklies." The rogue can't suppress the smile that spreads across her face. And yet, its so strange ... the way they came by these things. Odd unknown folks just giving them up 'cause these Chaos Guys beat down on some Mechas. The vague reasoning in which they are somehow opposed to the Law-side that the Mechas represented feels unsatisfying. What specifically did these guys have to lose that they would feel obliged to pay up a reward, even when they didn't need to? You don't pay a reward when the sun comes up, even though its a good thing. What more could these guys want, that they would be willing to give up these costly goods? 'Xcept for the Crone Girl, of course. But a deck of cards? How weerdo is that?
Xenia turns the Iron Bottle over in her hands while she muses upon the motives behind these mysterious allies. For a brief moment she contemplates opening the bottle, but common sense is stronger in the girl than curiosity. It would be best to have Firn'gaer examine it first. There is little doubt in the dark girl's mind that she could make the bottle perform in the manner that it is supposed to. But, the little gnome (who was at one time a human) may be able to actually tell what's in the bottle without opening it first.
"C'mon, lets go into town. Xenia gathers up the things. Swords and gems and cards, and the bottle. All of this she throws into the Holding Bag that the first shadow guy threw out. "I think we need to trade some of this stuff in for more useful things a'for we make for this Ahl place."
From the piles of broken metal that were once the living Mechas, Xenia pulls a rod that looks like it used to be a shin bone once connected to a thigh bone. Gripping it at one end, she gives the makeshift mace an experimental swing. The she sticks it into her haversack and heads off in the direction of Heranmar.

Afterwards ...... " yeah i think you got dat right .... back to town ......and find where ever dat valley of Ahl is "
Peerimus assures Wanderwood that he is proud of the great tree and that he knows Wanderwood did indeed do his best and that is all any of us can ever do or be expected to do. "It is good to hear that Redwing and the family of Two-Stripes are safe." Again the nagging plans to long laid dormant, A treant should be here, others as well. The Temple of Mittiri would need to be visisted again immediately settling this.
Peerimus stops up short, there was an awful lot of others suddenly showing a very high interest. There was a story or so he thought of a Marilith, working in the catacombs. Hopefully the creature that just provided a reward was indeed from there. The thought sparks another, "When we arrive in Heranmar we we should see if the Catacombs have reopened or if they are still blocked."
The Shadow dancer to Peerimus smacked of Father's sence of appearance but his manner does not, "Your associates? I am Peerimus and we are of the Champions of Chaos. I would like to know a little more of your associates. Pass along our thanks as well." Not likely to get an answer, else he would have said in the first place, but occassionally those who travel in secret can't help but letting someone know, letting another learn of how far they have come by the company they keep and so the egos sometimes need the smallest prodding.
When the Daughter of the Crones steps into his hallow, Peerimus dips his head and clasps his hands together, elbows straight out and speaks, "Councellor." He holds it but a moment and steps towards her. "Our thanks. Our journey to the Edge revealed our Wold is very much in danger from the pure Chaos released in the Great Migration and the Chaos Bell itself. Unlike with the Destroyer, there apparently was no counter to the Migration itself. We have learned that we must get to the Valley of Ahl. The same Valley where we stood against the norther god Ga'al so very recently. The Edge also answered that it was in Heranmar that we would find our transit and if memory serves that would be you daughter of the Crones. Once we clean up here, I believe we need to move with the utmost haste to the Valley. Can you assist us in that.

Rash d8=4 ; Sunday May 9th, 2010 9:29:43 PM
ooc Rash is now 18th level. Rolled 4 hps for new level.
Rash will go over to the bell and lay her hands on it wondering if it will restore her tattoo. She will then say, "I would like a nights rest to check on our friends in the town, do some shopping and prepare for our journey tomorrow. Is this acceptable to everyone?" To Peerimus, "So how are we going to find this Valley? Do I need to pray for more windwalks? What is the plan?
After that is discussed, she announces that she will buy dinner but wants to get cleaned up first. She invites everyone over to her normal inn at 7 for food, drinks and a conversation on their next steps.
Rash will head to town and go to her usual inn. She will get her room after checking in with the innkeeper to see how things faired there. She warns him about dinner and the guests she has coming and to be prepared for some hungry dwarves. She will ask for a steaming bath and when it arrives, sink into it with a sigh. She will then scrub the dried blood (mostly her own!) off and contemplate the next day and its needs.
She will then towel off and head down stairs to wait for her guests. That night she will cast her miracle spell into her new spell staff and cast her normal spells cast at night before bed. (new spell list to follow)

Hello all
I've played with some of you before. I still need to get full DM privileges for this board it seems, so while we're waiting on that, I'll introduce myself.
I've been playing on the Wold since sometime in early 2005, meaning slightly more than five years. My principal character is Belkior Orvisson, a halfling cleric / Healer / Paragon / Hierophant in the Crimson Shields. I've been DM'ing for a significant part of my time in the Wold, starting with Plateau City and lately with the Bloodpack.
In the Real World, I'm a 47-year old father of two girls who keep me pretty busy. I live in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada where I'm an occupational hygienist and environmental specialist for a mining company.
I'm not sure how to describe my DM'ing style. I tend to be a stickler for the intent or spirit of the rules. I try to have a balance between combat and other aspects of the game.
Obviously, I've been tasked with taking all of you from here to Dragon Status. It's merely a question of how we're going to get there.
I'm asking the following questions of each of you: - what does your character want to accomplish besides the immediate quest? - what do you (the player) want to accomplish? - what style of play do you prefer? - anything else?
Oh, and by the way, figure out what you wish to do with the loot especially that Deck.

Hmmm ... for some reason I didn't see the buttons for "New Module" and "New Scene" when I posted before. The buttons are there now, however.
