Revi AC24/14T/24FF HP 90/90 -- Arashi AC19/11T/17FF HP 46/46
Friday April 30th, 2010 9:51:05 PM

"Wow, you're a festive one, aren't you?" Revi says rhetorically after Trixy is done. Then turning her attention to Edmund as he spouts off, she ends with saying as the mage is leaving for the Catacombs, "Cya later Eddie baby, you take care of yourself you big piece of man-meat." Waving goodbye too, Revi then turns back to Trixy and speaks in druidic, Highlight to display spoiler: {Come sister, I'll show you to the roof where I've planted several trees that your companion can perch in. There may even be a spot where your weasel could burrow."} Looking at Arm, "Care for some fresh air?" then motions for him to follow the pair. Revi leads Trixy and the rest up the double stairs to the roof, smiling at her handiwork when they arrive (map on M.O. woldipedia page).

Trixy 46/46
Friday April 30th, 2010 10:33:00 PM

(Great work on that map Jim!)

Trixy is thouroughly pleased with all she see's of the manor so far. She squeals with excitement when she sees the upstairs .. garden! (Understatement!)

She quickly lets loose both Bandit and Dace, allowing them to find a place to perch and play.

"Is this where Ragnar stays? I find it funny, your wolf friend is a fine specimen, large enough for you to ride if you so wished, and Dace is much the same. Who would have thought a couple of mixed bags like us would wind up together?!"

Trixy wanders through the garden a bit, pointing at this plant and that one, very impressed with Revi's work.

"I think the Order is very fine indeed. I worry about Edmund though. He seemed touchy! I heard you call him a big hunk of man! Is he your man? I have no romantic inclinations towards one like him! He is awe inspiring per the tales Memimma relates, but I don't believe I could possibly be wooed by one who keeps a supply of ogre's in his closet that he polymorphs into pigs for bacon for his morning meal. The smell of the bedroom would be horrible, and I don't eat that much bacon."

Friday April 30th, 2010 10:44:32 PM

ooc: ragnar? you probably mean Arashi :)

"Ah Eddie, Eddy, Edi. No, not my man, I'm not sure, but he may not even swing that way. And as for bacon, I hear tell he's deathly afraid of pigs, maybe because they're considered unclean by some. Me, I loves the bacon, it's the perfect food group." Arashi goes and finds an open spot on the grass being bathed in the sunlight where he can spread out, on his back.

Wynum
Saturday May 1st, 2010 1:06:06 PM

As the duo of druids settles in the roof gardens, an unusual odor in the furthest corner alerts Arashi for an instant. Soon, the lithe and muscular centaur emerges from a bush, with an air of sleepiness. He is not armed but wears his new, forest green, richly embroided cloak which drapes around his whole body. It appears his hair has been recently combed and he shaved the massive sideburns that used to garnish is temples. He introduces himself, with an air of arrogance that obviously has been practiced before a mirror beforehand, yet still unconvincing.

"Oh. Mmm. I was just... in reverie. Much to think about. Welcome here, majestic lady, I am... Wynum Wordwind. Archer for the Mithril Order."

As he stands with his back straight, stiff-necked, with his chin up in a quasi-edmundian arrogant pose, it appears he just didn't notice the small gnome from his eight foot-high vantage point. Closing his eyes ceremoniously, he bows to the eagle, and continues adressing it, as it is conveniently perched at his eye level, oblivious to Trixy's nearby presence, and barely acknowledging Revi.

"Very good. A seer. That Memmima character is full or resources. Surely you know the recent events. An overhead view is just what we need. And you're right, lady eagle, about Ed, he is touchy. So... let's not lose time."

That said, he turns about and trots to the roof's edge and strikes another dramatic pose, gazing upon the city.

{OOC: Whirlwind to Zephyr. Whirlwind to Zephyr. Cancel order. Fall back to Mansion. Over. Refocusing on mission: Firetaur.}

Trixy 46/46
Sunday May 2nd, 2010 2:00:28 AM

Trixy giggles aloud at the well-intended centaur. She casts Ghost Sound, another gnomish racial ability, upon Dace's perch.

"Yes, well, I only hope you are careful not to step on my gnomish companion. It would be a shame to lose her. They are difficult to call for sometimes and I spent a fortune on her barding!"

Dace, having none of this, rolls his eyes and settles down on his branch, then begins to preen himself.

"Wynum, why are you talking to the eagle?" Revi looked a little perplexed, "This here is Trixy," motioning over to the wee lady gnome, "I think she may be joining us. I'm pretty sure she's not a vampire, but I haven't ruled out her being a doppleganger yet." Revi smiles down at the new recruit, then walks over to check her pumpkins, tomatoes and heads of cabbage and lettuce. "Have a care Trixy, please let your companions know not to touch the contents of this vegetable garden I'm growing."

Thar
Sunday May 2nd, 2010 3:22:56 PM

Thar returns back to the room from his prayers, and welcomes everyone. Before entering the conversation, eh subtly casts Detect Evil, as requested by their leader... Assuming he finds no evil....

He's a young elf with a few scars here and there on his face, and is wearing clerical robes. He normally wears elven chain and carries a large bow, but since he's in his home, he's a little less formal. Seeing the new arrival, a female gnome, bouncing around and chattering with the party, he warmly says hello. "I'm Thar ail Baerer and its nice to meet you. I see you've met the rest of our group, and welcome to our manor. I'm glad you're not a vampire, and it appears you're not evil (based upon the spelll he cast earlier)" He looks at her two companions, and offers each some dried trail food, rubbing them behind the ears (or whever they liked to be touched) as a friendly gesture...

Trixy 46/46
Sunday May 2nd, 2010 5:35:17 PM

Dace has no problems with a good scratching in the middle of his forehead. He seems at ease with the Cleric for some reason. Bandit too is friendly and will scamper up the legs of the young elf to perch on his shoulder for a bit, chittering in his ear.

He hops back down and vanishes into the garden, trackable only by the occasional swaying of a plant as he rushes by it.

"Well then! Isn't this nice! I'd never thought there were so many people here willing to accept my friends and I into their fold. As far as the garden goes, I'll do my best. He doesn't listen very well when it comes to food. It's possible through that with all the treats and snacks being thrown at him by everyone he might leave your plants alone."

Trixy smiles.

"It's very good that we aren't vampires. I suppose a Vampire weasel would be nifty, and he can drain blood pretty quick if he gets ahold of something, but I guess it's not the same thing. As interesting as it would be, I must say I dont think I'd like to see a REAL vampire animal out there.. it would't be natural. Peculiar! But not natural.."

She sighs, slightly saddened by the fact she wont ever meet an animal vampire.

"So! When do we get to do something heroic?! I'm ready to do something that'll make my dad grow a beard and speak dwarf!"

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24]
Monday May 3rd, 2010 5:44:43 AM

Arm nods at Revi's suggestion and follows them up to the roof, but thinking that she would be more than capable of taking care of herself, not the least of which against their guest. As the exchange amongst his friends continues, he takes up a casual stance against the doorway, but his powers of observation are anything but casual. Looking to Thar the confirm that Trixy is in fact not evil, he continues his observation of her.

Wynum
Monday May 3rd, 2010 1:57:38 PM

Wynum turns (or rather, bends) to the gnome and considers Revi's explanation, obviously putting his powerful mind to the task and scrutinizing Trixy. After a moment, he explains with a pointed, scholarly finger up in the air.

"Well then, Revi, obviously. Vampires turn into bats, not eagles. Only shapeshifters can turn into eagles. Fortunately we know she's not evil. Hence! She would be a good eagle...shifter... creature. What race are you? Are you a half-elf, like Julian? You're very small, but I can't see your ears."

-{ In response to Trixy's last question. }

"Quite so, Trixy. We have heroic inquiries to do. Edmund is currently doing extensive arcane research intro the basis of these arsons. I believe Arm here is our best bet to gather a few rumors, as he is at home in those bars and inns. While I tend to... over-react. AlsoThar, here, as our spiritual adviser, will know how to handle the religious inquiries. Is Zephyr back, surely she can help with that. And I? I will join Edmund at the library. I know he appreciates my company and guidance there. So you see, we are tremendously prepared for this task. I guess the four {encompassing the druids, eagle and wolf} of you can easily probe the druid quarters or search the city."

After that discussion is over, Wynum will leave for the city library, which he visited in the past.

{OOC: I think our DM will want us to be clear on who's rolling what. Remember to roll for aid (10+) rather than skill use unless you're the main skill user. Maybe I'd be best if we each contributed to a single roll at a time?}

Edmund
Monday May 3rd, 2010 3:18:38 PM

((OOC: Florian, you mean that we are to make our normal rolls with modifier, but to specify that we are rolling to aid someone, correct?

According to the PH (65-66) The correct way to 'aid another' is to roll the skill you are aiding (for example, Sense Motive) and add your normal (in this example, Sense Motive) modifier. If you roll or exceed 10 with the result, you have successfully aided your friend. If your sense motive modifier is +6 and you roll a 4, that is a total of 10. You have successfully aided your friend.

A successfully aided friend gets a +2 bonus in addition to his usual bonuses. These bonuses may or may not stack, and it may or may not be possible to obtain help from friends on some tasks--the DM makes these decisions based on the circumstances and what sort of task is being 'aided'.))

Revi sighs, "Okay, so Eddie is doing magic stuff. Arm is going to gather some info about who started the fires, you, Wynum, is going to the library to...read. Okay, so the rest of us, are we going with you Arm and helping you with this matter or what?"

Down time / DM Buzz
Tuesday May 4th, 2010 12:03:45 AM

Ooc: There are some holes in the time line of things. We are going to go over a months worth of time and I may have to darn a few of those story vacancies just to move the game along...

Each character that has wanted to do something specific will have minuses to their aid roll, but, they get an aid roll. We will resolve the issue of the arson's with a single roll. If the single roll is successful. In regard to the one thousand gold pieces that the Lord Mayor gave you, I will roll a percentage to see how much gold you spend before you get the information. The rest you keep, so you will want me to roll low. If the single roll fails, you spent all the gold to no avail. That does not mean you fail though. For every 100 gold pieces donated by a/all characters will add an additional +1 to the total of the single, Gather Information roll I assume you will want Arm to do.

Revi spends some time in the wild and brings back a friend to the manors garden, that has been here since even before her arrival, when the manor was first made. Also during this time, she has meetings with others that that some may not understand. But everyone has their own friends that don't necessarily run in the same circle as other friends. She begins to get along with the new people and has found a person with similar interests, in regard to the gnome druid.
Revi has a -4 to her Aid Another, when helping Arm Gather Information

Edmund is extremely busy during this next month and perhaps even longer, if he is not satisfied with his accomplishments. Still, the man has to eat and he has to drink and there is perhaps a night or two his science allows an incubation period allowing him to relax for a few hours. Highlight to display spoiler: {Please send me a list of things Edmund will do, in order and what time it will take for each job done. I would like it itemized for my ease please. I suggest, if you have more to do, then you can in a month, put it on a separate list so we know in advance what is needed when next the time is available.}
Edmund has a -10 to his Aid Another, when helping Arm Gather Information.

Zephyr isn't the most charismatic person in the Wold, but even she can aid, if by nothing else, quiet intimidation. Over the next month, she finds her niche in the group and is recognized as a member. She has more then proved her self when a thug one night approaches her improperly and is soon seen on his knees, his arm bent in an awkward angle, swearing to learn some manners. Her anger swift, yet her heart merciful.
Zephyr has +0 to her Aid Another, when helping Arm Gather Information

Trixie is delighted to be within such a well known and popular group of people as the Mithril Order. Her small secrets are soon found out and her friends are actually and animal companion and a familiar. Not some menagerie of Prestige class characters. With the group she aids the others in the best way possible and some assume she is a bard, with her often comic relief attitude.
Trixie has a +0 to her Aid Another when helping Arm Gather Information

Thar really isn't thrilled about the following month. Tedious mingling with various types of people. Enclosed in walls and ceilings rarely seeing the night sky or even a copse of trees, but he does help the others and when it is all said and done. it wasn't such a bad time. Some really good food and drink. A great show at the theatre and the Fargunian Grand Orchestra was quite interesting, playing such beautiful music without feeling.
Thar has a +0 to his Aid Another, when helping Arm Gather Information

Wynum wants to visit Wi Kommen, but that is not going to take him out of the way very much. The business is thriving and he is available with a smile. "Greetings and well met my friend. Have you come to buy an old desk or perhaps a weapons cabinet, child proof with a lock?" Then, off to the library for studies. Highlight to display spoiler: { Please tell me what you are looking for. I may have forgotten if you mentioned it before.}
Wynum has a -2 to his Aid Another, when helping Arm Gather Information

Arm is there to support his friends on their mission and is more then capable of having a great time in the process. If he is not careful, a sweet young lady he has been paying attention to lately, might hear of all the other ladies around town throwing themselves at the charismatic and dashing musician. He need not perform in order to use his skill, but him being a hero in a place where he has some reputation allows him just a little bit more chance to know something.
Arm has a +1 from city reputation to his Gather Information check. DC 25 necessary.

If the DM has missed something specific that will take a character some time, I apologize for missing it. Please just write to me or post and I will give a modifier to the Aid Another roll then. Next post, I will go into detail on what happens during that month, depending upon the final dice roll outcome.

{OOC: To clarify, my last post was not meant to tell what everybody was to actually DO but merely do another IC recap of things that everyone might do if out of inspiration or lost in the posts. Others had made other suggestions.
If I understand correctly, Buzz, Arm will do a single GI roll for the next month, assuming everybody is aiding. Everybody will then roll GI, though with a penalty according to the proportion of time spent doing something else. Fine, but can we use a skill other than GI to help out in some way? E.g. Religion for Thar, History for Wynum, Arcana, etc...? That was the meaning of my suggestions above.}

Wynum has a very simple question for Wil Kommen.
"There is something that is not quite clear. Do you remember where that caravan that we helped out came from?"

{Library action forthcoming. But I think I'll pass on the Aid roll anyways, as I will have too many penalties.}

DM Buzz: In regard to other skill rolls. I really do not see how those other skills will help in looking for unknown fugitives from the law. If an explanation of the skill to be used has a decent argument, then I will allow bonuses from another skill to be added to the Aid roll. The explanation would need to be very convincing however. :)

Down time / DM Buzz
Tuesday May 4th, 2010 5:03:48 PM

OOC: For those of you that want to do more, I need to know what you are doing before you roll, if you are rolling.

Keep in mind, if you fail on an Aid Another check, there are no penalties to the main roll.

ooc: a month has passed, or is it going to pass? I'm confused. Okay... so this month downtime happens just after we all get back to the manor, after visiting Lynom and meeting Trixy?

DM Buzz: I will put it like this. A month will pass. I have put down what people have done and want to do, as far as I know, people want to do in that one month period.

If, there is something above I missed that would take extra time then what I have noted, please tell me so I may change your aid another modifier, during this one month period that will pass.

Tuesday May 4th, 2010 9:15:49 PM

Besides helping with the info gathering, Revi will spend the next month teaching Arashi some new tricks, 1 per week as per Handle Animal.

BTW, when Revi walking around town, she uses her hat of disguise (which looks like a hair tie) to adopt a more feminine look--dress, etc., but she's still fully armed and armored under the disguise.

She will also visit Mem's once a week for tea and see how the old bat is doing--she will bring Mems a present each visit, sweet cakes, rare teas and whatnot, about 100gp worth each time to show her appreciation for what she did for Revi.

Once that month Revi will visit the nearby forest where they met Wilhelm the Unicorn, and see if she can find him and see how he's doing since the loss of his mate--she will use Summon Natures Ally to help find him and his pack if he's not readily available. (Revi's intention is to take Wilhelm as an animal cohort when she gains a level and takes Leadership as her 9th level feat--yes, she is a virgin).

I think thats all I can think of.

Edmund  d20+5=7 ;
Tuesday May 4th, 2010 11:02:07 PM

Edmund spends the entire month doing a lot of work. He...

...studies at the library
...purchases a bunch of spells and a new spellbook to put them in
...and then protects each floor of the manor with a permanent Alarm spell.

Each floor of the manor has its own password. Edmund spends quite a bit of time coming up with passwords that are easy to remember but difficult to guess. Then, he takes the time to make certain each member of the Order knows the password--and he swears them to secrecy. They are not even to share the passwords with each other. He spends a lot of time with each person and makes positively certain they have the passwords memorised.

"If you forget the password," he says. "Come to me and only me. Do not ask anyone else in the Order. If a member of the Order asks you for the password and says they have forgotten it, you will know something is suspicious. So, send them to me. I will cast spells on them to make certain they are not a shapeshifting fiend!"

Edmund explains that the ground floor and the roof have audible alarms that cause a bell to ring. The second floor and the basement have mental alarms that Edmund alone can hear--but which he can hear across distance, and which make no alarm in the manor itself if someone trips them. The manor is thus reasonably protected whether there are members of the Order there or not.

((OOC: Edmund is going to be INCREDIBLY strict about these passwords, and he will spend as much time as it takes to make certain each individual member of the Order understands how important this is--and from an OOC perspective it is no joke, either. The alarm spells cost Edmund 2,000xp. He doesn't want them ruined.))

Edmund would love to help Arm, but with all the hassle, he finds himself absolutely unable to provide any assistance whatsoever. The only information Edmund gathers is from the library, relating to his spells. (Gather Information -3)

((OOC: Character sheet updated. A new link is in the header above!))

Trixy 46/46
Wednesday May 5th, 2010 1:25:11 AM

Trixy spends a lot of time looking over Edmunds shoulder as he works. As long as he can stand her, she talks about magic and familars and whatnot, though it would become very clear in time that not only has she foregone focus on arcane magic to be able to advance her druidic spell casting as well, but she isn't quite as experiences as Edmund is in the first place.

"What about Dace, can I teach Dace the password? He says things like "Squak" and "Screech" and clicks his beak sometimes."

"What about Bandit, can I teach bandit? I'd hate for him to chitter and set off a spell of yours that you worked so hard on."

"What if I summon something, should I tell that thing too?"

"What happens if YOU forget, then I forget, and Dace AND Bandit BOTH forgot? Then what happens?"

"What happens if YOU forget, and I forget, but Dace or Bandit MIGHT have remembered but maybe you're going to tell me I can't teach them?"

"Maybe you should teach Dace and Bandit your passwords too, so that if you forget, they dont, and they cant talk to anyone but us and only if I cast a spell!"

Trixy looks slightly panicked, so she casts a spell. Soon after, she is conversing with Bandit, who was riding in her robes.

She puts her hands on her hips and glances up at Edmund.

"I agree Bandit. Lets tell him so. Master Edmund, you shouldn't be so forgetful."

She "harumphs". then stomps off to find Revi so they can both chitter about how irresponsible Edmund was being.

"Oh I know Bandit. He may really be him, and mega powerful if he is him and not an apprentice him like Memimma thinks, but he sure didn't think this through very much!"

Her pink pigtails bob out of view as she turns a corner, calling out for Revi.

Trixy 46/46
Wednesday May 5th, 2010 1:29:41 AM

( An OOC note, Trixy is more than willing to craft items for the group. She experienced there, to a degree. She's two levels behind the party, and two caster levels further. So her arcane and divine caster levels are only 5. That makes armor, weapons, wonderous, potions, scrolls, etc.

It's her way of trying to pitch in, since she's underleveled and in a prestige that allows for flavor but lacks for power. She only asks that you supply the gold required. She will up the xp if it's necessary. As I understand it, i it isnt in the DMG I can make it without Xp. This may be wrong. This will have to happen after the next xp awards are given out, since leveling to 9 to catch the majority of the group who arent 10 is most important, and I dont have an Xp total thats concrete to start with.)

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24]  d20+13=27 ;

Arm does very little in the way of preparations...he simply enjoys the rare occasion of extended downtime. His dates with Marie are quite enjoyable, and he is very careful not to spread a reputation as a 'ladies man' for fear of making Marie jealous. During their visits to the theater and various drinking establishments, he is able to gather some information that may be of use to them (gather info=27).

Wynum
Wednesday May 5th, 2010 9:00:49 PM

Days go by and Wynum is barely seen. He appears very busy and secluded. He mumbles things uncomprehensible. Well, uncomprehensibler, really. Most of the day and part of the night, he works in his room which has been transformed into a workshop, much to the chagrin of his neighbours. Everyone wonders what is going on, until he proudly appears, weary but satisfied.
And very disappointed that nobody notices his three weeks worth of work.
"What? The arrows!" he exclaims, producing a bunch of cool-looking arrows, but still, pointy sticks "These arrows, aren't they exquisite! Each made with harfang feathers, twined with braids of pure silk, and the straightest of all brial saplings! Infused with the magic of... hey, I'm not finished! What!"

This takes him the last three weeks. For the first week, he relaxes in the foreigner quarter and possibly visits the elf ambassador (reminder email sent to DM). Also he chats with the newcomers.

"Hey Trixy. You said you can enchant items, too? But I wonder, can scribe magical tatoos? We had druids with those in the Isles."

"Oh, Zephyr. See those arrows? No no, this is interesting. Just wait a minute. This is an idea Julian gave me, with the curved sword of his, in honor of your god. I built these arrows in case we meet with those Taur again, but they won't kill them. Plus they'll do right with shapeshifters too. They're made with foiled crystals and bristlevine, it just get in their skins. I call them... 'Domi-nator' arrows. You get it? Eh? Nifty? Hmm?"

{Crafting masterwork arrows components x25. Craft points: 1500sp. DC20, Taking 10 at +16= 520sp per weeks = 3 weeks to craft. Yeah, don't ask. Those harfang feathers are hard to work with.
Enchanting five +1 merciful monstrous-humanoid-bane arrows (+3 equivalent): 900gp and 92xp total. One day.}

{I indeed have no great idea for the role of History, and I dropped the leftover plot threads, so forget about the library. Let's say I just went there to bug Edmund.}

Clearing things up / DM Buzz  d100=80 ;
Thursday May 6th, 2010 12:23:54 AM

The group takes the time they need to do their thing and still have fun too.

However, it took Arm most of the month and when he finds the information he has been looking for, it seems to come as a curious conclusion. The information was found in a restaurant. While enjoying a meal, it is overheard at a near by table, that a minotaur and gnome had come to a tailor for new garments. Apparently, they were devotees of Caeroldra and they had some business to attend to before they left town again. Apparently, they were just trouble makers, bragging about starting problems and then leaving behind a wake of chaos and blame for others to deal with. They may well still be in town, but from the way it sounded, they don't wait around very long before they move on.

Anything more from here will have to be pursued in a different manner, but the group has two hundred gold remaining from the one thousand, to so with what you will.

I want to wait to see what is done from here. I am looking up some information for some of you other questions. We will get this all answered this week.

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24]

Arm relates the overheard information to the rest, perplexing as it is..."What would cause them to do that on a whim? It's not like this city doesn't already have it's share of troublemakers....".

Thar
Thursday May 6th, 2010 10:28:00 AM

During this extended time, Thar also spends time with various churches, gathering information from fellow priests re: the Order's investigation and healing parishioners who are sick or injured. If he finds anything interesting or any clues that lead them closer to the truth, he'll pass it on to the rest of the group...

He tries to spend time too with Trixy and Zephyr, getting to know them better and better, hoping to learn more about their lives, etc.

OOC: Jim, I never added the 1,000gp from the mayor to my inventory. So, I'm not sure I understand what you mean about removing it from my inventory. Could you explain a bit more, perhaps in an e-mail?

The original 1,976.19gp per person loot we received (reward from Lynom) also included the 1000gp from the mayor split equally among the group. DM Buzz is keeping that 1000gp from the mayor as seperate funds, so everyone needs to subtract 142.86gp from that 1976.19gp loot. Jim/Revi

Lounging around in a recliner and taking in some sun in the garden above, Revi is scantily clad and eyes Arashi amusedly as he plays a game of hide and seek with something she can't quite make out. Sipping her Mojito, she looks about at her handiwork of tending the garden, made a little easier by having a fellow druid about. The sound of the fountains and the gentle breeze help drown out the noises of the city. Gently her hand drops to the ground and sweetly caresses the cold steel of her weapon like a lover, as it lays next to her.

((OOC: Okay, I understand now. Edmund has not had any of that gold added to his character sheet. I assumed it was in a collective 'pool', the total remainder of which was to be divvied up only at the end. I did not know it had been 'dispersed' already. Sorry about that.

So, based on what you've said, I assume this means that I should add 1,833.33g to Edmund's sheet--that is, 1976.19g - 142.86g. Yes? If not, let me know and I'll reverse the change.

DM Buzz, I sent you a couple e-mails and I'm still waiting to hear back from you. Just a heads-up in case you missed them.))

* * *

Edmund shrugs his shoulders when he hears the report that Arm and the others have received.

"Travelling anarchists, trouble-makers, vagrants--nothing too surprising there," he remarks blandly. "They go from town to town, causing problems in one place, and then moving on to another. It's not unusual. They are probably disturbed individuals, or anarchists. A very chaotic, evil series of actions, one concludes. But, hardly something worth ascribing significant pith to."

Edmund pauses, before continuing, "Perhaps it is time to go to the Mayor with what we've found? This is probably just the sort of thing he'd like to hear: a one-off, which he can attest to travelling riff-raff, and for which an obvious solution presents itself in the form of more constables, greater policing of the streets, and so on. It should make for a stirring series of election promises, even if it isn't going to be much use."

"Nevertheless," the wizard concludes, "we are not the town constabulary, and neither should we be saddled with their duties. This is clearly within their prevue and capabilities. We have more important tasks than the tracking of vagrants across the Wold--such as the making of supper, and the eating thereof. Who's hungry? A pork pie seems just the ticket, to me!"

(Aww. I was looking forward to a witty Edmund-esque retort to Trixy's questions about the Alarm spells.)

Trixy spends most of her day with Bandit in Revi's Garden. It's a beautiful place, and one she enjoys. It's the perfect place for her to relax and crack open a spellbook of all things. If she sees more than a glimpse of Edmund, she will ask him a couple of questions.

"So.... Master Edmund. I don't mean to be forward, but I'm curious if you can give me some advice on my spell books and what your recommendations are for my role in our group. I'm far behind you in arcane power, sure, but I have plantsy stuff I can cast as well! I have a couple of tactics I use, myself and Dace, mostly me shrinking down and fighting from his back in the air. Are they any other spells you can think of us needing in the near future? I never specialized. I enjoy knowing as much magic as I can really.

If you'd like, maybe later we can trade some magic? I don't need much in the way of spells in my books. I have yet to leave town on my own adventures, so I'm plenty prepared. I've had time to learn every spell the Star Mage Guild has to offer, as long as it isn't outside my realm of understanding.

Outside of that, there's some spells I havent quite mastered yet, but if we worked together to put them in a wand or on someones armor or something, it could help the group out a lot. I just want to mesh our abilities as best as possible."

A long days month / DM Buzz
Friday May 7th, 2010 2:22:59 AM

A month goes by and people have a good time here and there.

When Wynum asks about a merchants business. He gets a side long glance back and forth around his store, then goes and walks to the back of his store where his work shop is located. He sits at his desk, then grabs a piece of parchment and a pen. Without looking at the centaur, his written wrods are blocked by the small shelf at the front of the large, ornate table with a high backed and elegant captains chair. His hands and body, out of view behind a slight counter, he talks while he writes. "Hero's tend to have enemies. Here we are, I am answering questions that are really none of my business. Then, the next thing you know, I have people coming and asking about you." he shakes his head as he scribbles and continues, "It can be a mighty dangerous business answering questions which are none of my concern," scribble scribble. "So.." he takes the parchment and folds it up nice and tight "I think I would be safe, if I did not tell you anything at all." he takes the note and slides it into the cabinet he was talking about and locks it. "Now, can I interest you in a secure closet for when children come to visit? Only a hundred gold for this very secure item. Feel free to take this up to Jenny and she will give you a receipt."
Subtract 100 gold pieces if you want to know what is on the paper. At least you get a nice wooden cabinet for free.
When crafting arrows, do those need to be large arrows and if so, are you adjusting the price accordingly please?

Revi spends some time with Memmina and she is informed of her new science project which she will be starting rather soon. "If I am unavailable for awhile, don't be concerned dear. I have a few projects to tend to." She says with a warm smile before taking a sip of tea, "Besides, you should be visiting with people closer to your own age. How are you ever going to fall in love..." She holds up her hand when Revi begins to protest, "Now, stop that and listen. It will occur when you least expect it and usually from someone you least expect as well." She sets her cup of tea down and seems to reminisce, "Why, there have been a couple of occasions I received a visitor of whom I least expect it. All I am saying is, if it happens, don't be to stubborn to take a closer look. You might never get another chance."

Wilhelm the Unicorn is not around that can be seen, but that does not mean he will not be back. Even though he is a magical creature, he does have natural urges.

Edmund is very busy and he does have a few problems with his protections. A firm rule should be, animal companions, since they can't talk, remain with the master wandering through the house. He may find that others much more chaotic then the archmage might come home drunk one night and completely forget about such powerful and expensive incantations. DM rules, familiar's with their magical attachment to their masters are void if that master is within the house.

Trixy spends some time with the groups "leader" and annoys him a bit, but it seems to go unnoticed. Her prancing antics accentuated by her bright hair and distinct pig tails. She offers her assistance in making magic or any other chore the group has for her.

Arm can hardly believe such maliciousness could come from such a random couple of people. No deep conspiracy between Stutevant or Caal. No deep seeded hate from Lynom toward the Lord mayor. Indeed, just some trouble makers trying to stir up some problems. he makes it public that his affections are for one lady and one lady only. Marie swoons at the thought and is forever giddy, constantly giggling nervously while with such powerful people that are Arm's friends and aquaintances.

Taking Lynoms word, the group first goes to the Constable where a report is taken on the subject. The information is much appreciated and the lead will be followed. As well, Stutevant is very happy with your work, proving no political party was involved and he is now confidant, that the debate may continue and no more foolishness from out side forces will follow. Or, at least he hopes this much.

Thar, ever the philanthropist, not only spends time in various temple, but he finds, there are quite a few people on the street that don't go to churches. His information gathering skills are lacking it seems. No one has yet to learn about the recent arson outcome. On the way around the city, his eyes can see a slight pestilence. There is talk of small bands of undead still coming up from the sewers now and again. Some innocents have been hurt, but thankfully, it seems to be mostly skeletons and zombies at least for now.

Zephyr remains quiet over the last few days of the month. She gets to know the others and allows the others to get to know her. It is very soon that she becomes at home in the residence, where everyone appears to be safe when in a group.

So, the month is gone and it is time for the future to come to pass. The group is aware that in one week, the debate will again take place. The group is encouraged by both parties to stand by in case more trouble makers happen to show up, but no offer of payment is brought forth. It appears that the two competitors have asked all the heros of the city to come and represent the power which is Plateau City.

Is there anything else the group wishes to do? Have you had an adequate down time? Are you ready for some adventure?

Friday May 7th, 2010 3:17:34 AM

Revi ponders what Memimma said to her. She must be under surveillance, Revi thought to herself, remembering the last time she met with her--she explained how plain she was and how she never had any suitors and eventually agreed to marry her third cousin for lack of proposals. Definitely something was up and her sly comments on how she was attending to some project and wouldn't be available oft times, well, that made it all the more suspicious--danger was afoot. Hopefully Mem's was working on that invitation to the Chancer's Club for Revi and that's why she wasn't going to be around. Thinking about it, Revi began to recollect what happened the second time they met a little over a month ago:

Revi strolled down the street wearing naught but her regular clothes--halter top, skirt(can't remember what it's called) and boots. She had stopped wearing her armor a little over a day ago when she began to pray for Arashi's return. Not knowing how he would be received by Memimma, she left him upstairs on the roof to romp about, but made it clear there was to be no digging in the dirt, or the wolf would not get meat that night.

With her frost giant's sword on her back, she eventually made it to the Star Mages Guild unmolested. Once inside she introduced herself and explained that she had an appointment to see Memimma.

The gnome comes along very suddenly to collect Revi from the Admin office, singing to herself all the while.
"Why hello, Reti. I didn't think you were going to come along, though I can believe you came wearing that AND a sword. I do forget that most people don't get up to get six hours work done before breafast. I thought to call it a day soon.
"Well, you have piqued my curiosity. What would a bladeslinger want with a University of Magic? A Wish for more Strength, I imagine. We don't do ressurections or love potions." She is slightly condecsending, but it is in a loving and well-meaning Motherly way.
She walks along at quite an unnatural pace as she leads Revi back to her personal rooms. The passageways twist and turn and seem to go on forever, Revi reckons that she should be well beyond the physical bounds of the University.
Eventually she stops outside a door with her key in hand. She hesitates, looking Revi up and down, not yet inserting the key into lock.
"Is this going to be worthwhile. I mean, I like to help people and all..."

"The name's Revi, it'll make a difference once you hear what I have to say; and yes, most definitely worth your while, unless you're not interested in twenty thousand gold in gems and coin." Revi patted the heavy belt pouch at her hip. "Steelgrass armor is what I'm looking for, and you seem to be the one way I can get it."

Memimma pauses a moment, staring into space. After a moment she says, "Hmmmm, yes. This one." From her sleeve she produces a single black skeleton key and turns to face the door to her rooms.

It is a door made of a single piece of metal, polished to a mirror finish with four thick bands that run across it to support the internal hinges. The centre two portions of the door are covered with key-holes, each identical, arranged randomly, organically. She turns the key in a lock and slips the key back into her sleeve. The door remains closed.

"Okay, Love. You want something of me that you cannot do," her frown lifts a little, "And there's something I want you to do for me that I cannot achieve. It seems we have a business relationship and nothing more. What we are lacking are the details, and hence, the knowledge of whether the other is capable.

"So, Deary. You want Steelgrass. I can only assume you want me to Wish it for you, or teleport you to the Manfri's. I am beginning to think the later would be better. I'm sure that they'd hold a feast in your honour," she pats Revi's significant biceps, "I think they'd love to have you for dinner.

"No, let's be nice Memimma," the old gnome sounds like she is patronising herself, "She wants Wish, most people do.

"You know the cost is 26,530 gp, don't you. But as I said, I think that there's something you can do for me. I would need to pay you a due amount. First, lets see if you are the right sort of person for the job. I'd guess that you are."
Memimma now pushes gently on her door and it casually swings inward 180 degrees. A wave of dry heat hits the two women, hot enough to be painful if one was to stand there too long.

"No spells, no magic. Let's see if you can leap to that island and back. Then I'll know if you are the right sort."
The island is a narrow pinnacle of rock standing 80' above swiftly flowing magma. Its peak is almost flat, it is level with the doorway, and it 15' away. There is nothing over than the small tower of rock for as far as the eye can see.

"Yes, Dear, it includes your boots. Here's," she waves her hand away from the doorway, "your running start." A dead end corridor appears in the wall opposite the door, almost 40' long, with no doors, no windows.

Revi races for it and makes the great leap not so easily. Taking a deep breath, after realizing she almost fell into the pit of lava, Revi shook her head and internally chastised herself. She had been lucky, there was no running start on her return trip and it took everything she had and a bit of luck to make it back unscathed."Alright, so... what can I help you with Mem's?"

"Yes, well done. Brave, or foolhardy: all the same to me. Excellent."
She touches the door lightly and it begins to close slowly, ushering the two women back into the corridor. The space created for the running start has already disappeared.
Memimma removes a single bronze skeleton key from the same sleeve and turns a different lock. Pushing it gently the door opens this time to an oak forest. Immediately in front of Revi is a large working desk crafted from a single piece of marble, flanked on all sides by a total of 13 comfortable-looking chairs in a variety of sizes. The door closes by itself behind the two.
"Come in, let us sit and talk. Tea?"
The wall through which Revi has walked is wattle-and-daub on this side, and the door a simple wooden affair. Memimma reopens it using the simple iron handle and walks into a small cottage, returning almost immediately with a large and steaming kettle. She places it on the desk, and beckons Revi to sit. Two delicate china cups are produced from the top drawer of the desk, cream and sugar from the small cupboard beneath it.
"You want me to use a Wish to create some Steelgrass armour for you. I want to know what the Chancer's are up to. This, then is the basis for our deal.
You see, I'm not the sort of person that they would admit. Too safe, comfortable and conservative. You, on the other hand, seem to be a likely candidate. Reckless, foolhardy, self-confident. Brave you might call it.
"They know something, the Chancer's, something important, perhaps dangerous. I have some suspicions, but I need more clues. I want you to be my eyes and ears in the club.
"How's the tea? It's my favourite blend."

"I have discovered that they know something," she says seriously,
sipping her tea, "I don't know what it is, but I'm certain that it is
important, significant, vital. Their Inner Circle knows this
something, and I've pieced together tiny pieces that proves they are
acting against something, a secret war it would seem. Now, whether
that is a metaphor, or it is a real war, I don't know. If you can find
out that much you will have done me a great service. I doubt that your
ordinary members really know, I think it much more important than that.
"I'd like to think that the Inner Circle works for the greater good,
but it is difficult to know. I'm certain that (unlike many of their
constituency) they do not act lightly. I ask you to learn what you can
for me because I believe that is very likely to be a real danger,
otherwise the Inner Circle simply wouldn't care. They're like that."
Raising an eyebrow to Revi she continues, "I think you could learn
these things. Many of the members are high-born, and thus well known.
They are all risk-takers, and that is where I see you fitting in. With
the right dress, a little cantrip to fix your hair, some heels and a
touch of mascara many men, many of "those" men won't even notice you
gleaming info from them.
You see, Love, it's not that I don't like you, as you percive it, or
that I disapprove. I was never gifted with those feminine talents that
you have. I married my third cousin because no one else would have me,
and no one else would have him. We are best of friends, but we have no
children, and now you can see why.
"So to our agreement then. I usually charge 28,000 gp, preferably in
gems." Memimma pauses as she pours herself another tea. "But the
Chancer's entrance fee is 10,000 gp, and obviously I am going factor
that. I will pay for your annual fees as well.
"I do appreciate that this is quite a task that I ask of you. If we
call it 13,000 gp for this Wish that leaves you with plenty to buy a
nice dress or two, and some shoes, a handbag and all those little
things that will add to your beauty. Perhaps a Circlet of Charisma to
help you along.
"All I ask is that share all that you learn of the Chancer's with me
on a regular basis."

"I thank you for your compliments, but I think you overestimate my feminine wiles. Nonetheless, I'll agree to your terms. We'll need a way I can keep you informed by not arousing attention to our relationship, this should probably be the last time I come here. Make the arrangements with the Chancers, unless I am to do that (she's paying right?), if you need time to make the armor, no problem, you know where I live. Oh, and here's a picture of what I'd like it to look like--full plate armor of course (same as pic on character sheet)." Revi smiles and stands, "It's been nice doing business with you Mem's, you're a standup lady, and I hope I can be of some service to you in this endeavor."

"Thank you, Deary, I'm sure you'll do fine. We can meet surreptitiously easily enough. Scrying doesn't work within the University, so here is actually a good place to meet. There is no way for anyone outside to know whom you have come to visit. Still, we can pass secret messages if you like, and meet in strange places."

"So," Memimma sighs in resignation. "What info you can get for me will be worth it, so, nothing to it but to do it."
She stands and leans over her desk within this forest, staring at the image that Revi has provided. After a while she says, "Here, I'll craft it straight onto you. It's the best way to get a perfect fit."
With a few words of Arcane Power Revi experiences a little tingling as she feels the 'fabric' of magick growing and changing across her skin.
"There. Ta-da! Beautiful. Just what you need, right. I must admit, it looks good.
Revi looks down at her new armour, to find she is now dressed in a fashionable, body hugging sky blue, knee length, backless silk dress, with silver high heels, and a slender silver belt hanging loosely off her hips.

Umm," Revi begins to start, then says, "Yes, it is beautiful, but what about the armor?"

"Yes, well, it is only a cantrip. It will back to... whatever it was that you were wearing within an hour.
"Give me a moment, Wish takes a bit out of you."
She stands upright, as tall as possible, then turns to face away from Revi. Her next few words don't resonate of arcane magic as Revi is used to hearing. Rather, it sounds more like the divine magic of the druids and clerics, and Revi guesses that it might be the gnomish language she is using.
Memimma takes a deep breath, and pauses for a moment. The words she uses now ring with the arcane, and grass sprouts from Revi's clothing. It grows and extends and wraps around her curves. Then it twists and twines about itself, and tightens and solidifies. Soon enough Revi is wearing her Steelgrass armour.
Memimma hunches over, her hands on her knees. She is breathing in gasps, and without turning back she beckons Revi to leave.

"Thank you Memimma, this means alot to me and I know it took alot out of you. Come by the Mithril Manor anytime for some tea, dinner, whatever, you'll be welcome there." Without addressing it, Revi left the 13,000gp in gems on the table and left.

DM to Revi- Thank you for that recap. No conspiracy or danger involved. In regard to her past, perhaps she had a few one night stands with no potential future? She did say, you find love in the least expected places. At least her and her cousin have each other, creatures of the same species. :)

I would say yes, we need to role play the Chancers encounter and she would have given you a voucher good for the initiation fee.

Thar
Friday May 7th, 2010 11:43:33 AM

Back at the manor, Thar takes a break from his evangelism and itinerant ministry throughout the city. He's a little disturbed by the undead that have been rising from the sewers, and wonders if that is something that the group should pursue. However, it doesn't seem severe enough to draw their full attention. After all, something or someone is starting fires and causing civic disruption and destroying people's livelihoods. And that he will not tolerate...

He reviews what the party knows, and asks, "Well, we've done a lot of digging and haven't found much for our efforts... But if any troubles rise up again, we'll be prepared..."

Once Ed returns, he asks him about the security measures. He does consider two other additions that might be wise to their defense. "Edmund, what do you think about having me consecrate part of our manor to defend against undead creatures, and maybe putting some permanent protection from evil spells throughout the manor? I know that Shadow, when he was with us, talked about setting traps in the basement entrances that led to the sewers. Are you intending on setting up something similar and maybe I could help...?"

Edmund
Friday May 7th, 2010 4:33:27 PM

((OOC: The downtime provided has been sufficient. Thank you.))

Edmund is not very fond of squeaky, little gnomes to begin with. Trixy does little to mollify his impressions. Most of his time with her passes in irritated taciturnity. Revi, who seems to be willfully egging the gnome along, similarly does not increase in Edmund's estimation for her part in the matter.

That said, Edmund is fair and does try to do what is best for the Order. On the topic of showing his spellbook to Trixy, he seems reasonable enough, and offers to let her examine it, as long as this is done carefully in his presence.

Discussions with Thar also give him cause for thought. Ever trying to be rigorous in his defences, he agrees with the cleric on all points.

"Please do. I would trap the blocked-up tunnel myself, but I'm afraid there's little more I can do with magic at this point. Later on, once I have finished some research, I will wall it up with magic as well. For now, alarms are the best I can provide."

Edmund has a great appreciation for bespoke furnishings, and thinks that Wynum's cabinet is a fine addition to the manor. "We do have a study, in a sense," he says. "The common room has plenty of desk space, bookshelves, and that cabinet will do nicely there. It is a fine acquisition. You clearly have a good eye!"

At the end of the month, with Arm and Zephyr Edmund has fewer dealings. The constraints on his time have not afforded him the opportunities to meet with the others very often, and so most of his comments to them are in passing. He does finally meet with Arm when the bard returns to the manor. It is then, with everyone at the Manor, that Edmund realises they need to decide what to do next.

"Well well," he says, striding into the common room. "It seems we need to have a meeting of our own about what to do next. As relaxing as sitting around the manor is, we can't spend all of our time in idleness. If nothing else, training to keep ourselves focused, unless someone has a more proactive plan. Let's get everyone in here and thrash it out, what what? And where's the tea? Ah ha! There it is..."

As Edmund prepares his own cuppa, he waits for any stragglers to come in to the common, so that the Order can work out what avenue of action to pursue next.

"Questions, ideas, suggestions," he says to those already there and just entering. "That's what we need to hear. Questions, ideas, and suggestions. Let's have them!"

Revi pouts and holds out her glass for Eddie.

"So much for decorum," he says with audible annoyance. "As for your oddly-named beverage, I don't even know what that is. So unless you can find someone else to make one, that'll be the last of the Mohicans, or whatever they are called. I'm a wizard, not a bartender!"

"Party pooper!" Revi exclaims and heads over to the well stocked bar. "Hmpf," she pouts and mixes herself another drink all the while giving Edmund the evil eye. When she is done, she places the flat of her frostblade, which she is never without, on the edge of the bar and then places her glass on it. Activating the swords power, she chills her drink just right.

Wynum
Friday May 7th, 2010 11:02:06 PM

Wynum passes in front of the common.
"What are you doing there? We have more things to inquire about. Heading to the temple. You sould go to the tailor, that seems to fit you well. Fit you. Get it?"
Chuckling, he prepares to leave (he'd wait for anyone wanting to come along, though)

** At Caeroldra's temple**
Wynum approaches the temple with mixed feelings. A few weeks ago, as he came into the town, he would have been eager to visit it and know more about this goddess he sometimes pray to, and drink for, in the name of his reckless adventurer's drive. But having found his more quiet inner self, he hesitates, in the midst of a personnal dilemma. But his duty settles it and he enters, still thoughtful, glancing around with curiosity, and tries to be ushered to a priest. Midway, he remembers what the Mayor said about discretion, and hesitates. Instead of talking, he will have a look around, searching for people wearing predominantly purple clothing, or Taurs, then he tries to adress a minor priest.

{Totally OOC: Finely-carved figure?? No offence, but at 18 Str 18 Con and 10 Cha that's a fine figure indeed.... as carved by a Games Workshop ork sculptor? Says the half-horse who walks around sans bikini. Poor Edmund. I'm not sure he will give us the passwords for the next batch of protections.}

Marie is sad when Arm takes his leave. She hopes to see him before the big debate! He finds his friends are all but ready to make plans and prepare for what may come.

Thar discovers some grim news about town and is confident, knowing more will make the group better prepared. He offers to further protect the house, using his powerful divine magic.

Wynum pulls the note out of the drawer and unfolds it. The most obvious part of the note is the elegant hand writing. It's words are long and sleek. It is a very simple note with it's wording, Highlight to display spoiler: { Morgan Whitestone, Huxwell } There is now a fine addition to the house and it might become a bit more furnished, depending on how often the group needs information.

Trixie is prepared and ready to adventure with the Mithril Order.

Edmund has a busy and lucrative month. His scholarly juices floweth over and he is sated, at least foe now. He shares with others his arcane knowledge and agrees that more protections equals better protection.

Revi begins drinking and soon finds the proper proportions for all ingredients to make that perfect frosty adult beverage. Perhaps she is getting prepared for the temple to Caeroldra?

Zephyr has not come out of her room for some time. Perhaps she is not feeling well?

The temple to Caeroldra was indeed built by those that loved her and have a passion for stone work. Columns line the perimeter of the exterior, their spacing narrowing gently until they are solid walls with an arched dome roof. The large arch allows an entry into a fragrant room, filled with smoke from the incense braziers that sit around the edges of an adorned futon style mattress covering the dias. Billowy fabrics line the interior walls, cascading down to lie gently on the thickly carpeted floor. Priests and priestesses in ceremonial robes stand around the large futon with many pillows of different shapes, sizes and colors. The dias is twenty feet in diameter and the futon is just as big. Visible upon the large dias are writhing bodies with out clothes. All of this is seen before an effeminate initiate in robes introduces himself. "Greetings and welcome to the House of Passions. I am obedient to your needs. Are you here to bless the wedding party or are their other desires you need fulfilled?"

Drinking from his cup of juice, Thar nods at Arm's suggestion. "Yes, my friend. I'm ready to get moving too... Enough of this sitting around, talking with people, doing investigations... I'm ready to meet some evil and send it to its just reward..."

"Well Revi... I don't drink anymore. Makes me do things... and say things I don't mean. Quite an issue I tell you."

Wynum is lost in thoughts.
<<Hmm. Not many purple robes in here. Not many robes at all. At last somewhere I feel at ease. I wonder if Thar and Ruby's wedding will be like that? I hate formal dress.>>
And is interrupted by the initiate.
"Oh. Yes. I don't know. I'm not sure. Do you... I don't see many Taurs in here. Are they welcome? I thought I'd find friends in here. I've been told..."

After that, well, is it our job to police this city, like Eddie said, they have other people for that. Now if the Mayor wanted to hire us for that purpose, I wouldn't be adverse to that.

Are we all going to the Temple of Passions, or just Wynum?

Theeeeen... it's mere existence will draw badguys to our town like a magnet! They'll have their own super mechanical battle animals.. and we can have super mechanical animal fights! All in the name of justice and good!"

She giggles when Bandit sticks his cold nose in her ear. She scrunches her shoulds up and shakes him off.

"Or we could check on the fire thing. "

Edmund abstains from the drinks and passes on the visit to Caerdola's Temple of Pleasure and Other Such Nonsense. Instead, he seems determined to get a feel for what avenues of investigation everyone wants to pursue.

"Well, if you're going to pip off to the temple, at least tell me what you think we should investigate next!" he exclaims in squeaky irritation. "It does no good at all to sit around here all day wondering what we should be doing next. If you don't tell me, I'll come up with it myself, and it will mostly involve buying up all the pork pies and tea in the city!"

With that, he produces a pencil and a sheet of paper, and prepares to write down the suggestions which the other members of the Order may have.

One more week / DM Buzz
Tuesday May 11th, 2010 12:24:23 AM

The group has a fateful decision. To retire to the easy side of city life and take up careers in various field of expertise or to go out and search for malicious evil to conquer and nefarious plans to thwart. Yet, in their time in the city, they really didn't get much to go on. Could it be, hero's are a dying breed?
Has good finally beaten evil? Will the Mithril Order have to relocate to a city with more strife, to fulfill their dreams of becoming the most powerful group in the Wold? Only they can say.

What is known?

Undead still come out from the sewers. It would be an awfully stinky adventure to enter the cities waste dump and track down what might be causing the corpses of the cities past to come back and haunt the living. One must prepare for the most foul of conditions, girding ones loins in a war against aggressive bacteria, viruses as well as that which can thrive under those conditions.

The group must also consider, an election is coming up that will decide a major event for the entire Wold. Their eight votes may well effect adventurers and villains across all of civilization. IF Caal wins, it will mean a status quo with nothing changing. Some find that good, while others find it stagnant. If Stutevant wins, he will be King of Plateau City and will rules many lands in the surrounding areas. His voice and his voice alone could launch the military might of his entire kingdom, as well, he could draft any and all residents to support his cause. If this man is to be elected, one must be very sure, they apprciate his goals for the city. The debate is in a week and it would behoove those that are concerned for the future of the city, to listen to what these men have to say and when the time comes, cast your very important opinion on a ballot.

Back at the temple to Caeroldra and to answer a centaur's question, "All with a passion and a desire to fulfill ones soul is welcome here. You do seem lost my friend. Would you prefer a male or female guidance counselor?"

The group can still talk about what they want to do. Technically, there is one more week to pass before the debate. I was going to give you this extra time in case someone wanted it. AS far as I am concerned, Wynum can still talk at the temple and we can wrap that up in a day or two, as well, everyone else can say they will wait the week out and we can go right into the next module.

Arm smiles at Thar's enthusiasm for action, glad that he is not the only one who feels the same way. Opening the discussion, he continues "It seems we have two tasks at the forefront to consider. Regarding the undead situation....when I first came to the City, long before many of you here, I took part in a mission sort of like that. It WAS malodorous and distasteful, but we were able to persevere. However grave their threat is, I believe that the upcoming election carries far greater weight, not only for the City but for the Wold as a whole. As mundane as the task may be, I fear that we need to concentrate on what these two have in mind and judge accordingly when the time comes. Though I am quite good at accumulating information, my skills at telling whom is telling the truth is sadly lacking. As always, you all are welcome to voice your own opinions, but my plan is to investigate the two candidates further.".

" Ill come with you Arm. The guards are doing okay with the undead from what I hear. I may have some magic that can help your quest. I'm certainly not as skilled as Edmund.."

She glances his direction.

_Common room__
Before leaving (or coming back ), Wynum just stands there, blinking a few times after Ed's inquiry.

"Well if we're looking for things to do or ongoing troubles to be fixed, there are those arsonists. Ed, you think this is a dead end with no tomorrow. Maybe, but we haven't even probed the leads Arm painstakingly gathered. I suggested twice to visit the tailor. And we haven't probed the inhabitants where the fires happened. Also we still don't know why the magical alarm did not went off when the fire elementals were summonded. What about the mage guild?
"This is the most obvious pending issue in this city right now: people have attacked the mayor's place and burned down houses! If we're going to let the city guard take care of the issue, what is our purpose here? Are we going to assume they are wandering troublemakers with no purpose? Wanderers who just happened to come, don purple robes then attack the head of the city's house for the sake of it? I find that hard to swallow. Anyways, what better do we have to do? Listening to a speech between two candidates?"

{OOC: Consider my visit to Caeroldra done if the consensus is indeed to consider the arson's case closed, and let's move to next week. I will not pursue this lead alone and waste everybody's time if the general feeling is that's nothing to worry about.}

Last night before debate / DM Buzz
Wednesday May 12th, 2010 3:36:30 AM

Some small bickering ensues as garments and garb is mentioned in passing. Perhaps, frosty adult beverages are responsible and then again it could just be a collision of cultures. In any case, the week goes by fast as there are plenty of things to do in Plateau City. The warriors could go down to the local arena and take on some fellow fighters in a contest of strength and daring. others could join a book club or even a magic book club, if one desired to.

Wynum discovers that Caeroldra is not all about sex and drinking. His guidance councilor helps him to find the very few things that motivate the centaur. He leaves hours later and he actually feels more focused. He understands that all of the gods of the Wold, well, except maybe Pantheon, were mortal creatures. They were driven to immortality by the very one thing that compelled them to fight against each other as well as the ancient Woldian gods. He too, can become like Domi, or Alemi or even Marteus, if his ambition and passion are powerful enough. It is easy to see, that this temple is not evil, but actually a magnifying glass. If a creatures focus is good, Caeroldra wishes for you to embrace that with as intense an energy as possible. Likewise however, if a person is evil....

This next post will be an assembly of the Plateau City citizens to listen to the debates. This is your last chance to get something done before something might happen.

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24]
Wednesday May 12th, 2010 8:33:40 AM

Shuddering a bit as he remembered the last time he was involved in a decision for the Wold, one that quite probably strained relations with elves for centuries to come to say nothing of all the death and destruction, Arm says to Revi "Though it's true that we won't be paid for attending the debates, I feel it is something that needs to be done...for the sake of the Wold if nothing else. Thar

Thar reflects upon the various options before them and finally shrugs, saying, "I agree that the election sounds like our most pressing option. The undead problem isn't yet a crisis, and I think that whomever becomes the next leader of the city will have more influence upon its future than a few undead menaces, here and there...."

Moving his mind to the debate, he says, "What type of role should we take at the debate? It sounds like several of us are thinking that we should show up to listen, but not take an active role or side with one party or another. I could care less, at least right now, who is elected, as long as long as they have the city's best interest at heart."

As the week passes, he'll spend some time at his church, visiting anyone who is sick, making new connections.

One thing he will specifically visit a nearby mage's guild and see if they have any information on ways to boost his summoning abilities. He's enjoying the summon monster spells, and wants to find ideas on how to strengthen them...

Edmund is very much interested in the political debate, but firmly opposes taking any sort of visible side.

"It'll be worthwhile to see what they promise," he says. "Afterwards, once we do some background investigations, it will behoove us to check the sewers out as well. The last time I was there, it was filled with some ridiculous cult. Arm, Thar, and I ended up chasing some mad elf necromancess through the lot of it. Quite hair-raising as I recall. Luckily, they had me there to protect them from the vampires . . ."

Catacombs transactions are fine. Please send me copies of the sales receipt. I want everyone ready before we begin, so the rest of this week will be fluff. Role play out and have some fun. Things are going to get dramatic pretty soon.

The group wanders through the city and it appears that Sturtevant has taken on the color blue, in the way of arm bands, openly worn by those that support the current Lord Mayor. Caal has followers as well and on their arms are orange cloth bands supporting a newer, younger idea on the direction of the city.

The market is thriving, for hero's must also eat and fresh foods are a common staple for those with the luxury to afford it. In the market, there are small podiums set up for any number of citizens, able to rant about any topic for 10 minutes and then they must step down. Those that take this opportunity talk mostly about politics, with the occasional buffoon willing to make a donkey out of himself, before another intelligent argument arises.

The main concerns by the populace lie in just a few simple facts.

If Sturtevant becomes King, he could take away the freedoms of the entire kingdom. Now, everyone knows the Lord mayor, including his opponent, and it has never come up in public discussions, but it does seem to strike deep nerves in some.

Secondly, the Lord mayor has no wife, no heir and he not getting any younger. What will happen if he dies and all of this would then be a waste of time and taxes for government transitions.

What about if he has a child? Who can tell what their disposition will be? They could be evil? The people would have no recourse against a tyrant.

As for Caal, he was only in the Sturtevant administration for four years. He is a man in his late twenties, or so he appears and also very confident, which tends to get the younger vote, but if the more mature people of the city do not see some very outstanding leadership over the next few weeks of the election period, he will likely not be able to win either.

Plus, he too is single. If he had a settled life, he might be considered more responsible and stable, but a single young man in a large city wielding authority causes some to wonder what kind of name might come to the most powerful city in the Wold.

Arm[HP 44/44 AC 24]

Arm grimaces at Thar's statement and says to him "Don't forget, my friend....politicians will say anything that they think their constituents want to hear just to get elected....what they choose to do afterward is most often uncertain at best.".

As the debate looms, he simply listens to the idle conversations around him and chooses to wait for the debate before making a decision.

"Well, I have to agree with Edmund in us taking an official stance. If we do anything to overly push one side or another, we could likely be branded bullies or thugs or meddlers, and could end up hurting the side we endorse. I say we can attend their debates and ensure as much security as we can. Keeping one side from harming the other. If we cast some divinations to detect lies while we are there, although we can't prove anything, it might certainly allow us to reach personal decisions as to which politician is better for the city."

Edmund has begun to think back on the previous difficulties with undead in the city. He turns his questions to Arm and Thar.

"Do you think this latest round of undead coming from the sewers could have anything to do with that last situation all those years ago? Lady Ilonia and Count Darkar, and all that, I mean. Is it possible that such business is again rearing its ugly head?"

Edmund ponders the election as well.

"I begin to think that if anarchists and troublemakers are trying to cause fear and terror, then we should make an effort to be there at this political meeting. What better chance would there be for such chaotic forces to attempt to undermine the safety of the city. It is not merely useful to keep an eye on what is going on with the candidates, but also to ensure their safety and the safety of the people of the city. Something tells me that the protection of the people and the two candidates should be our chief concern."

"Silver Weapons," Edmund says with an air of one-who-knows, "Are the best choice against the legions of the undead. I recommend we all do our best to obtain something of that sort--alternately, bludgeons, as you say, are a backup. But silver seems the best solution."
