DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Sunday August 15th, 2010 7:47:40 PM
Welcome to Sunrise Song! Before we start the game officially, I'd like all players to post a quick introduction of themselves and their characters so your friendly neighborhood DM's can get an overview of our adventuring party. So please make an intro post and be sure to include the following information:
Player Name Character Name Character Class(es)/Level(s) Character XP Total Character Wealth Total A Link to your Character sheet (in your name is fine, but otherwise here)
Knowing all of this off the bat will be really helpful. Thank you!
Thar ail Baerer (Ken M) Monday August 16th, 2010 10:49:27 AM
Thar is a young elven cleric ranger. He's a friendly fellow, though impatient at times with useless banter or bureaucracy. He's usually seen in his elven chain armor or clerical vestments, depending on the situation. He enjoys hunting and usually has bits of twigs or grass stuck here and there on his armor or robes. He wears a large wooden cross on his chest and is distinctly monotheistic in his religious view.
His heart was recently broken by Ruby, a fellow PC he was engaged to. He had recently begun courting a young maiden wizard from the guild but due to the change in games, who knows where this will lead...?
He usually performs two key functions for the group. He's an expert scout and tracker, and when not in combat, likes to take point with other stealthy types. When in combat, he moves to the 2nd row and either spends his time healing others, casting spells (his favorites are summoning) or shooting arrows.
He has 51520 xp, and is a 7 cleric/3 ranger. Note that in his previous game, the group lost its healer and he was asked to take several levels in cleric rather than splitting them up between classes. Note that he was absolved of any xp penalties because it was requested for the parties sake.
OOC - Re: treasure, I'll have to get back with you on this. He held several "party" items that were purchased with group funds, such as a CMW wand, several potions, etc. I can dispose of these if needed but don't want them counted against his total wealth otherwise. If they are, then I'll remove them and give an actual wealth value sans these items.
Give me a total for Thar without the party items, and a list of the party items, please. -Cheers, DM Dai

Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Monday August 16th, 2010 10:06:46 PM
Floating... a spirit in the Woldsblood... .......... ooc: Stephen Knotts (aka SteveK) plays Tishe' Character Class(es)/Level(s): 12th level PC, 7 Witch / 5 Spellweaver Character XP Total: 75,101 xp Character Wealth Total: 108,270 gp A Link to your Character sheet (in Name)
Tishe' is currently dead, having a run in with a couple of treants while a NPC under Jerry's DMing at the conclusion of Bloodpack. Would like to return to the group as Taldera (I believe) brought her body through the portal.
Also, Tishe' is my first character in the Wold, arriving at 5th level in January 2004. If anyone wants to make the calculations, that is about 1 level per year since inception (vs Woldian guidance of 2 levels per year). I'm willing to do character surgury to conform to party requirements, but I would really prefer not to reduce levels. ..............
At first glance, the woman wearing greens and tans looks like a guildswoman of modest means. The short woman keeps her shoulder-length wavy brown hair in a tail pulled away from her rather plain face and the light brown skin does nothing to craft a striking appearance. Not the kind of face or body to give anything more than a passing glance.
Yet something causes a second look. Perhaps it is the bits and ends of items peeking from beneath the green cloak. Perhaps it is the red sash, the red ring on her left ring finger, or the image of Gargul's Eye on the back of her right hand. Or perhaps it is those brown eyes, how they seem to dance with warmth and carefully bridled enthusiasm, straining to get out and see the Wold...
Tishe' is a barely contained ball of energy that is focused on learning. No wonder or mystery is too insignificant for her attention, and often her concentration can be redirected by giving her a new piece of information. Her questions can drive people to distraction, and she sometimes forgets that others aren't as interested in learning for learning's sake as she is.
Focused as she is on knowledge, she is less aware of personalities and intrigue around her. The result is she treats everyone in the same cordial, but distracted manner, sort of like an absent-minded professor. That is not to say she doesn't care about other people. Tishe' has a very strong protective instinct (don't call it motherly!). Between her upbringing and training, she has little tolerance for bullies.
Tishe' had always been overshadowed by more beautiful and 'womanly-talented' sisters, so it is not surprising she doesn't think much of natural beauty nor traditional roles for women.
Yanosh AC 23 HP 105/105 Endure Elements Tuesday August 17th, 2010 4:05:03 PM
Yanosh draws his war axe and sits cross legged on the 'floor'. His Shield rests leaning against him on one side with the top of his helmet showing just above the shiels. Quietly he prays to Gargul.
Yanosh AC 23 HP 105/105 Endure Elements Tuesday August 17th, 2010 4:20:48 PM
Yanosh Ironfist (Edd Ferguson) Fighter/Cleric level 12 Xp 66,000 Money on hand Silver: 35 Gold: 29,185 Copper:72 (dont know the total worth of all his gear)
Yanosh is a gruff Dwarven Fighter/Cleric who is very slow to except others fully yet is a staunch warrior and friend when he does. Starting out in the Ice Vein Yanosh found himself tossed from the frozen plains to the heat scorched lands of the Sargrass Plains. Thinking that he has finally found a home he finds himself once more watching everyone he knows and come to trust die and left with a group of new friends. Now lost in the Darkness he ponders what will happen to him and what is left of the BloodPack. Covered in severe burn scars his face and head are near bare of any hair. All that is left of his once proud dwarven heritage is a long grey beard and mustache. Once a flaming red the hair is now grey after seeing and pledging his life and service to his deity Gargul. Accepting what he is Yanosh strives to be the best Eye of Gargul that he can be.
Serillana Tuesday August 17th, 2010 5:18:18 PM
Joshua Borja Serillana Swiftshot Halfling Rogue 7 / Sharpshooter 4 / Shadowdancer 1 66,000 / 78,000 Character Wealth Total: 88,000 In Hand 65 gp 5 cp
Serillana is a little halfling with a that has a little vanity streak in her. She lives to dance, and she loves to look her best even after a lengthy battle. Dressed in her black padded armor with her long dark brown hair tied into a tight ponytail, she looks scary and as though she is on a mission. However, in her dancing gear or usual bright yellows and oranges she dances her little heart out on stage with a big smile on her face and performs with the bard Taldera, usually providing the music for her to dance to. However, wearing her armor or her performer's clothes, she always keeps a sling and a dagger on her for protection, hidden away from view.
---------
I'm Josh, and this is my second time playing in the wold, with my first being a sharpshooter named Caelnin. Just a lowly university student trying to get his degree in design (visual comm.)
I was Assisstant DM for the last game, I'm not sure how that status turns over into this game....
DM David Welcome to Sunrise Song Tuesday August 17th, 2010 7:09:14 PM
Hello, My name is David Feest and I will be your other DM. While Dai and I finish up the Module that will be the first of this series I would like to get some information other than the numbers crunch Dai asked you for 8).
What I would like to know is your posting habits, what your characters have experienced recently that has shaped them to where they are today and what you want from myself and Dai. I know that's a big post, and I'll answer some of it for myself at least so that no one else has to go first.
I work from 6am to 3 pm EST weekdays for the Home Depot. I work for the district and travel between 4 stores. I help keep the sets in the stores straight and all of the product on the shelves. This means I get home around 4 to 5 pm every day. I would like to get my post in before 7pm unless something unforeseen comes up. I will post something every day. I have suffered in campaigns that " didn't move along" and want to spare any of you from that. I check in on the games I am involved in several times a night, looking for posts I can respond to. That's as a player. I shouldn't be posting more than 1 or 2 times a day as a DM and any secondary posts I make will be to answer questions you pose so that you don't need to wait a WHOLE DAY to get a response to something simple like 'does the bad guy have a scar on his right cheek' . What we need to keep a steady pace going is steady posts from you guys as well, that's why I am interested in your posting times and habits.
The reason I want to know how you guys have been affected by your recent past is so I can get some handle on how you react to things. If you guys love roleplaying and we only give you combat encounters, both you and us ( the DM's) will get frustrated. Knowing how you play and what you want to get done will help us all 'play nice' together.
Don't hold back on what you want from us. Obviously the 'ring of wishes on every kobold' plan won't happen but if we know what you want as far as pace, setting and play style we can decide better how to make the Wold YOUR Wold.
Take some time, give this some thought and toss out a few good solid things for us to work with. I promise that taking the time to do that now can save alot of heartache later.
Also as asked about above we will need an ADM. Did you guys like Josh doing it in the past? Does Josh still want to be the ADM? We combined 2 games so I don't know the answer to how we select a new ADM. But, I can and will find out. Talk it over, get in this descriptive post and we can get rolling. Thanks guys David.
Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Tuesday August 17th, 2010 9:32:23 PM
I everyone! I'm Stephen Knotts, a 19 year veteran US Army officer, husband, and father of three young daughters. Because I like to maximize my time with my family (in compensation for the times I'm not there), I try to post during around lunch time (central Illinois), or whenever I've a spare minute. This makes me a little erratic, but I will nearly always post inbetween the DM posts. No guarantee I can look more than once a day. ...............
The original Bloodpack (none left, even Tishe' is a later comer) was a youth gang in the hidden Sargrass town of Rattledam. The leaders of Rattledam used promising youth groups (called Packs) to go on adventures to protect the town. Tishe' joined shortly after thier first adventurees.
The Bloodpack became protectors of all the good and innocent beings in the Sargrass and had many adventures making friends and alliances with many (to the deep concern of the secretive Rattledam leadership). Eventually, the Bloodpack and the leaders of Rattledam had a falling out and the Bloodpack was exiled, making a new home in an abandoned dome-covered town they named OddHolme.
OddHolme's most unusual feature was a mysterious Portal system that the Bloodpack to this day knew only a little. The heroes explored the portal system and the lands about, bringing orphaned and refugees to OddHolme to make a new home.
Most recently, OddHolme was attacked by slavers. In the ensuing raids and counterraids, OddHolme was attacked by a massive force when the Bloodpack was out. Rushing back to defend thier home and the peaceful people under thier care, the Bloodpack witnessed the final destruction of the entire Sargrass Plains (Powers and Woldsblood ripping the land apart). Left with no other option, they led thier people to the little understood Portal and went through, hoping for a new chance. ...........
I left out a lot of detail, but hoping to catch the most important aspects of the intent of the Bloodpack, past and present.
DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Tuesday August 17th, 2010 9:44:26 PM It's my understanding that Tishe' died in combat just before the others dragged her body through the portal, is that right?
Jeff_L (Snafu... formerly Mojo) Tuesday August 17th, 2010 11:10:54 PM
Player Name: Jeff L
Character Name: Snafu Ravenshoe (I was Mojo in the Bloodpack game, but talked with Jerry about putting a new character with the start of the new game).
Character Class(es)/Level(s): 12 Character XP Total: Starting 12th Character Wealth Total: 88,000 A Link to your Character sheet (in your name is fine, but otherwise here): I will upload on google documents once sheet is approved. I can email it to you dai, but I need your email address.
The character will be an arcane trickster... spellcasting and sneaking. Hopefully a handy fellow to have around.
As for me, I work in Marketing and am a father of two. I generally post at night over a cup of tea once the kids are in bed.
DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Wednesday August 18th, 2010 2:42:21 AM
For anybody who has any questions, my email address is simply dai (at) qblix (dot) com. Please send me your character sheet, Jeff. Thanks!
DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Wednesday August 18th, 2010 5:35:22 AM Ken, you'll probably need to update Thar's sheet for this game. Please set his XP to 60,000, and your net worth to a minimum of 80,000gp. You'll be starting at level 11, but not too far behind everybody else. This is also an opportunity to retcon out of the level imbalance if you want, pending Jerry's approval on any retroactive surgery.
Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Wednesday August 18th, 2010 3:36:28 PM
Yes, Tishe' was killed only a couple of posts before the others took her body through the Portal.
Tishe' is a PC, but I was on Walkabout from 1 July and so she was utilized by Jerry as an NPC to 'les encouraguer autres'
You could do a whole Gargul thing or just have the Portal breathe life back into the Witch/Spellweaver. A real deux ex machina.
Thar ail Baerer (Ken M) Wednesday August 18th, 2010 4:22:46 PM
OK, I'll take care of the changes to Thar...
1. 60,000 puts me at 11th level, so he'll be 8 Cleric/3 Ranger (added a cleric level) 2. Updated spells and skill points, BAB, etc. 3. Updated items to 80K gp, got rid of several old group items
Waiting on a ruling from the Rules board before deciding on one final item... Otherwise ready to go...
I personally like about 70/30 combat/role playing. In the Mithril Order, we had an ongoing foe (dopplegangers) and had several episodes that carried on that theme. I enjoy this, as it puts some continuity into the adventure. However, one problem many of us had was that several of the plot lines were left open and we never resolved several issues.
I can post 1-2/day, usually in the am or afternoon.
I also enjoy a fast paced game and can't stand ones that dragggggggg on. Yes, story lines are important but let's keep things moving...
Also, we've only averaged <1 level per year of growth, and that's very frustrating for me. I'd like to get back to the 2/year or so...
In RL, I'm a Methodist minister in Kansas, father of 3, and husband to a wonderful woman. Hobbies are weightlifting (the only time I get away from the wife and kids), and playing games with the kids.
DM David Welcome to Sunrise Song Wednesday August 18th, 2010 6:33:24 PM
DOPPLEGANGERS? Wow and I thought my group was paranoid. That would be a whole new level of paranoia. Dai and I are still polishing up the module. I outlined it and fleshed some of it out, Dai is fleshing out the skeletal parts I left behind. I think from what I am hearing from those of you posting that we have struck a good balance and will put you guys kinda where you want to be, based on your histories. We will address the dead people problem, we talked about that last night. So far I see five of you posting, who else are we waiting for? Whats the feeling on ADM? Lets get the book keeping done so we can get to the good stuff.
Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Wednesday August 18th, 2010 10:59:04 PM
good stuff, Yay!
Also, while I don't want to reduce xp or levels, I'm more than happy to seriously degrade Tishe's magical items if that would help set game balance.
Keep your stuff. I'd always prefer to upgrade players than downgrade, and your stuff isn't that far ahead of everybody else, especially if you tend to craft a lot.
Falmar AC: 24 (25 with Sword ) HP 57/69 ( Aura of Courage, Haste 3 more rounds) (MOXY :Familiar HP : 34/34 AC 17 (To hit base 11+3) Wednesday August 18th, 2010 11:08:56 PM
Hello, I was unable to post on this board last night...:(
XP 66,001 Total GP loot value was around 75K PAl 4 / Wiz 4 / Bladesinger 4
I'm Leon Long, I'm 34. a father of 2, live in the Mitten State, Am working to funish my CJ Degree, Collect Pinball Machines and clutter. I ususally post later in the evening.
Falmar Travelled to the Sargrass to find the home of his Mother. He got a bit sidetracked and met a god, helped a Power be born, started a fairly ineffective militia , and converted to Sargrass from Domi worship ... He has a Raven who enjoys making fun of him..
What I want out of a DM is mostly consistency and feedback. If I'm doing something wrong or annoying I want to know rather than continue. I know some former Woldians that got fed up with things that went on in their games and left. I don't want that to happen. I'm totally willing to ignore details when there is a new DM. I understand how difficult it can be stepping into established games and character interactions.
I like role playing and combat mixed. not too much of a fan for combat that's there seemingly to fill a pause in game. Seems like the last six months of Bloodpack have been like that really.
That's about it.
DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Thursday August 19th, 2010 1:10:29 AM
That's 6... does anybody know of anybody else who's going to be joining us?
Also Jeff, I still need your character sheet.
Jeff_L (Snafu... formerly Mojo) Thursday August 19th, 2010 1:54:55 AM
Character sheet is sent. Sorry about the delay, but i had a leadership retreat over the last two days, which required me to drink heavily when I got home... (just kidding on the heavily part... 2 drinks is my limit).
Regarding game style, I definately like a fair amount of combat, but with a purpose. And like Falmar, if my behavior bothers someone, I prefer to know.
I tend to enjoy playing characters that occasionally say inappropriate things... probably because I live in a world where I generally have to be as approrpriate as possible, so it's refreshing to play something different from my day-to-day life. Anyhow, only mentioning it so nobody takes it personal.
Serillana Thursday August 19th, 2010 2:22:06 AM
I usually post at around 10-11pm Sydney time, which is six hours from now, and depending on the days that I'm at uni, I can post more than once/day.
My game style is mainly storytelling, but combat is always good. If i put it in a combat to non-combat ratio, it would be about 40% to 60%. I tend to think outside the box in non-combat encounters, so bear with me sometimes if some things don't make total sense when I reply to posts.
Serillana would be a seasoned adventurer, traveling from city to city with her best bard friend Taldera (another character who I haven't heard from from quite some time who was playing in bloodpack, I will try and catch up with him). She has seen a heap of different things in her travels, but tends to ignore anything that doesn't apply to her. Then they made their way to the Sargrass, and where the short stint with Oddholme began for Seri.
I'm still up for being ADM, just need confirmation to keep doing what I was doing (a weekly posting report sent to everyone, upkeep of extraneous things etc.). But yeah, I'll be happy to take it up if no-one has any problems with it.
DM David Welcome to Sunrise Song Thursday August 19th, 2010 4:41:49 AM
Amen Jeff on the appropriate thing. I have to do stuff that makes no sense all day, so I like my games to have order and progression. Oh, and consequences, they usually follow in a progression too.... 8)
Thar ail Baerer (Ken M) Thursday August 19th, 2010 9:29:12 AM
OOC - In the theme of inappropriate vs. appropriate, one thing I really liked about Jesus is that he didn't shy away from saying things that people thought were politically incorrect or inapproprate for the time. He called it like it was and didn't worry about offending others when he spoke the truth... Not trying to preach here but just adding to the inappropriate/appropriate thread...
Yanosh AC 23 HP 105/105 Endure Elements Thursday August 19th, 2010 11:22:35 AM
I post usually in the morning as I work nights for the State of Texas. I like the role play and Character interactions but this is about the combat too. Yanosh is a refugee so to speak from two prior games. He was never an original character in either of them so this will be a first for him (new game new group). I have no real desires for the game direction im just here to have fun and I have always loved the game no matter how its played. My CS is linked through my name and I hope its all right though im not sure if everything got updated in it the last time i did it.
Jeff_L (Snafu... formerly Mojo)
Thursday August 19th, 2010 3:13:04 PM
Amen to that Ken. I work as a Marketing Manager in higher education, and appropriatness and political correctness is a major focus of everything we do. So, it always feels great when I get a chance to shoot from the hip.
This character- Snafu Ravenshoe- will probably help me fill this void. He'll shoot from the hip and be a bit of a prankster... he is an Arcane Trickster afterall!
As far as his role is concerned, I think he'll be a solid utility character for the party. He'll be able to sneak and do pretty good damage when properly buffed. He'll also have access to a lot of spells, though his caster level won't be high enough to be effective with fireballs, death spells and other save spells.
He also should provide for some fun interplay with some of the more serious members of the party.
Serillana Thursday August 19th, 2010 5:22:48 PM
Jeff, we'll either become best of friends or just step on each others toes (for a dance reference) till we figure out what we can actually do that is extremely different. At the moment it seems the main difference is that magic vs. bullets. But anyway, two sneakers won't hurt party composition, it will be more fun as we get to to see what we can get up to.
Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Thursday August 19th, 2010 6:18:39 PM
Tishe' converted to a Witch/Spellweaver very recently and I'm still trying to get an assessment of her abilities and usefulness. The combination has the potential to be rather potent, though I don't know how it will work in combat yet.
- combination of Improved Counterspell Feat and Unravel Witch Feat enables her to prep counterspells as a move action. Therefore, she can cast an offensive spell and stand still to counterspell the same round! - combo of strong Use Magic Device skill and a Staff of Fire enables the Witch to be a damage dealer in combat - Eschew Material and Imp Eschew Materials (from Spellweaver) allows her to cast spells with no components or foci; doesn't matter how expensive.
Tishe' can be a very versitile spellcaster even with the short Witch list.
Just don't ask her to do anything in melee!
DM Dai - Welcome to Sunrise Song! Thursday August 19th, 2010 10:20:28 PM I see Tishe already has Scorching Ray and Ice Storm as combat spells as well.
Jeff_L (Snafu... formerly Mojo) Thursday August 19th, 2010 11:21:56 PM
I think Snafu and Serillana will find a way to compliment each other. Plus, we'll be sneaking buddies!
I'll be relying mostly on melee combat using flanks and touch/ranged touch spells. As a spellcaster, it'll be mostly buffs (especially Tensor's Transformation), touch offensive spells, and summons.
Serillana Friday August 20th, 2010 3:43:04 AM
We will find a way to make it work, especially since Seri is ranged main (and once pathfinder starts, will have some magic up her sleeve as well). But if you need a flanker, Serillana is can move into combat if she can't find some shadow within 30 ft to hide in. There is no doubt about the sneaking buddies, it's what rogues do best.
Tishe' (AC 21 HP DEAD /75) Friday August 20th, 2010 12:36:56 PM
Yes. As a Witch, she has zero arcane damage spells. Her Divine Domain spells can be damage dealing. In addition, as a Spellweaver, she gets to choose one spell from any spell list every two levels! Tishe's specialty spells are Scorching Ray, Dispel Magic, and Ice Storm
Thar ail Baerer (Ken M) Friday August 20th, 2010 2:00:19 PM
Still finalizing Thar's items... I was going to go with some sort of metamagic rod, but I think Setano's vestment is a better pick...
EDIT - Thar's done...
Ready to begin the game whenever you are...
Jeff_L (Snafu... formerly Mojo) Friday August 20th, 2010 9:15:03 PM
I'm ready and raring!
