Aztyr is torn over the need of the refugees and the possibility of marauding giants. She looks to the others to make the decisions.

After the awards, Malgant chats with the halfing monk about things feeling him out about Ga'alian tax and the refugees. The monk is of the opinion "Alsildur is well within it rights's to impose the hart seed tax upon it's citizens. The hart-seed is Alsildur way of bringing law and order within it's boarders. The unseeded ones not inclined towards order are more likely to cause disorder and therefor more costly to the kingdom it's only logical that they pay a grater tax for their greater burden to Alsildur. The refuges logically the chaff of society that do not value order and are too poor to pay for their increase burden upon Alasdair's society."

Making plans for the refuges, Malgant sorts the group by alignment. Three of the thirty have a dark aura about them and are dismissed. Nineteen of the remaining have good aura. There are about 5 family groups. Only two families groups are all good. Only one of the two are willing to return to Blackbird lake and Alsildur and they were fisherman.

Making her own check, Aztyr doesn't detect any magical disguises, there a half dozen magic auras about the group, but they are all faint indicating minor items of magic most likely potions or such.

Vauhwyt shows off her Float plans. Appolo wonders about the wisdom of bring refugees to their secret headquarters. The liontaur explains her grand plan to help socialize the harpies. Dul believes that as long as they respect the boundary of the forest that there would be no problem, but with such a large group they are bound to a few who break the rules.

It's probably a good thing that Valanthe isn't near the halfling monk when he shares his view on heartseeds. Because such a thing would certainly test her tempered rage if not bring out the old self that rushed into battle without thought of the consequences. So it's a good thing that she's near the refugees, assisting with the preperations to travel. As far as she is concerned the giants can wait. Once the people are relocated they can look into those giants.

ooc: after looking at my sheet I never added the gold from selling the lich loot. I want to say it was 11k ?

Malgant does not push the issue with the monk. It appears that he is as set in his belief in the law as Malgant is in his conviction of goodness. The monk sees the situation of the Law while Malgant and his friends see it from the perspective of good and evil.

After interviewing the refugees Malgant speaks to Vauhwyt via sending spell." Found good refugee family who are fishermen. Shall we transport them to you or do you want to come here?" Vauhwyt can respond immediately with up to 25 words.

Aztyr decides that the minor magic detected is nothing to worry over. She looks around and decides that it's time to act....
"Ok, I'll take the three trips to our relay point, where we have people set up to move you further along to get you away from here. I can only take four of you at one time. And theres nothing to be worried about, remember I did win the over all Arcane Championship here at the fair.
Mal, when you converse with Vau... Well, with out friend I can grab her on the return trip from dropping off one of the groups."


Aztyr looks for a group of four (not the fisherman's family), she has each of the hold onto her harness and says not to let go, until the disorientation ends.
She calls up the power to teleport and unleashes it, disappearing from here one second, arriving just outside the inn at Acid City. She leads the four into the inn, introducing them as passenagers for relocation, she smiles at the owner, nods and as soon as they understand that they are to follow the inn owner's instructions, she casts her second teleport, reappearing about two minutes after she left.
"Step right up, the trip leaves in a few moments."

Valanthe doesn't like the purely lawful outlook of the halfling monk.

Still concerned about the zookeeper, Vorelle waits while Malgant sorts the refugees.

Not pressing the issue, Malgant recognizes the monks' view of law over good and evil. Later he contacts Vauhwyt about the refugees.

When ready, Aztyr starts to teleport the refugees beginning with the fisher family to Acid City. The adults are understandably nervous about the powerful magic, but the kids find being teleported exciting.

Aztyr having returned with the first batch of refugees, takes the next four to Acid City, repeating the process with the introductions at the inn. (been maybe 5 minutes time since last group arrived)
Having talked to Malgant while back, she decides to make a stop at Vauhwyt's on the return trip.
"Hey Vauhwyt, up for a little trip? that way you can discuss what you want with the fisherman and his family. Either way, I need to be on my way in a couple moments."
Either way, with or without Vauhwyt, Aztyr teleports in about a minute, ending up once again at the fair having returned from delivering the second set of four refugees.
"The last group for tonight is leaving shortly, are the next four ready?"

Sure! Vauhwyt will take a trip with Aztyr. That way she can get a fix on the place, and talk with the family.

She tells them that they are free to go to Dirt City or wherever they wish. But we would like to invite them to be the first family in a secret village that will be the headquarters of our group.

[OOC: A group so secret that it doesn't even have a name!]

She mentions that people who opt into the village will earn our true friendship, including favors and safety and free lodging and some necessities and some luxuries and more. "We take good care of our friends," she says.

She adds that they have to agree to keep the place secret and that if they wander off, the terrain nearby is extremely dangerous.

Then she tells then that there are five child-harpies on the site that I am raising to be good people. So anyone who wants to join in has to be open minded, not cruel or a bad example.

She explains that the residence is under construction, and if they come now, they will have to sleep on the ground for a week. After that, it will be ready.

Anyone want to talk with Vauhwyt before she teleports home?

Malgant greets Vauhwyt. Once she has spoken to her new potential residents he explains what the group is up to." We are in need of your skills. We need the fear of Gargul put into the zookeeper to get him to tell us who the buyer was that he is so afraid of. We put him in jeopardy buy saving the unicorn, we should at least get the whole story about who needed it and why. If we can and choose to, fix that we will. Then we have a line on some giants moving into the nearby area. The circumstances seem shady so we will talk to them and get their story."

Vauhwyt ask for 7 days before sending refugees to the new Keep.

Aztyr transports the next batch of refugees and stops by to pick up Vauhwyt on the way back, giving the liontaur a glance at the parting fair. Aztyr has one more group to take for the day, while her spells last. (ooc: Sorry for miss reading your previous post.)

Vauhwyt talks to the fisher family about settling at the group's headquarters. The head of the family sees that it is a golden opportunity, but also the risks so he discusses it with the whole family. After a private discussion they agree they by helping you they indirectly help others through you and they have a home too.

Malgant want's Vauhwyt to talk to the zookeeper, then tells her about the possible giants.

The tent's and booths of the fair are being disassembled and packed, most of the fair goers are already starting the journey to their homes or next fair location. Ellen's uncle lets you know that his people will be setting out for home early the next day.

My vote for the name is Heroes Keep. Mostly we refer to ourselves as the heroes of Blackbird Lake, since we ended the blight on the lake I think that is warranted.

"I think we need to be careful. The zookeeper was acting strange. I got the impression that we made him nervous. We should prepare for the possability that the zookeeper told the buyer that we stole it. We could be targeted by whoever tried to buy the unicorn. We need to be ready for an ambush." Valanthe says to whoever happens to be in uncle's tent.

Aztyr takes a deep breath as she returns from her third round trip in under twenty minutes. She starts to shake her head as if to clear away the cobwebs and stops almost as soon as she started.
"Wow, won't do that until my core stops spinning in all three axis'. I think there's a bit of an after effect from casting that much that fast. At least it's not life or death right this instance.
So, Vauhwyt, what's the verdict? That family gonna work out? If so, will need to get a boat for them too... that row boat you carry around probably won't be much use for real fishing. I may have grown up out in the barrens back home, but I did spend two months on board a ship and saw what most fishermen used in coastal waters."

She trys to decide how to get a decent fishing boat as well as thier iron boat to the new location. She just shakes her head slowly as she realizes they are both going to have to be sailed there, magic was just not going to work on stuff that large.

" That is actually my idea of an ideal outcome Val. It gets us some face time with a bad guy that needs to no longer exist and keeps the zookeeper from becoming dead. Win-Win in my book." Malgant smiles as he says this, knowing Val has been itching for a fight for days. Having her burn off steam here meant she could be calm around the giants until what the real problem was could be sorted out.

" We know he had a unicorn held against its wishes for a buyer he was sure would be angry if he didn't get it when he was supposed to. Beyond that we know nothing. What we want to know is why he would hold the unicorn. Was it greed for a pay out or was he threatened? We want to know who the buyer was and why he wanted the unicorn. If it turns out the zookeeper had no choice or was threatened we can protect him. If it was simple greed we just want to know the buyer so that we can find a solution to him taking more unicorns, and the zookeeper can reap his rewards for dealing in sentient creatures against their will. Basically slavery."

Vauhwyt worries a little about the fledglings under Mookie's care. But Appolo is there too, so how bad could she get? ... now she is worried more! (LOL! Just teasing, Appolo!)

But she does tell her friends that she is glad to go see the zookeeper and pry some info out of him. Can she borrow the hat of disguise?

She casts Alter Self to make her look like a pale tall human male -- and the Hat to make her look cadaverous, pallid, slightly decaying, and clad in a musty-looking robe.

She casts a message cantrip to let her talk with her friends from a distance. She sends someone (any volunteer) to keep an eye out and let her know when the zookeeper is alone. She casts heroism on herself, too, and False Life.

When she gets the word, she uses her Grim ability to enter the Realm of Shadows. She casts expeditious retreat and quickly gets over to the zookeepers' tent. Still ethereal, she takes a few rounds to look for anything incriminating, or personal or relevant.

Then she will materialize and interrogate him.

Malgant is wants to send the family with Vauhwyt to the unfinished Heroes Keep.

Her head spinning a little from the frequent teleports, Aztyr's travile service is closed for the day. Also wondering about the family, the liontaur suggest they get a boat for the family too.

Giving a warning, Valanthe suggest caution around the zookeeper and to watch for ambushes. Malgant figures a fight would be a good thing. Vauhwyt ask for more information about the zookeeper, and Malgant shares what little they do know.

Making a plan, Vauhwyt disguises herself to look much like a grim reaper if only she had a scythe.

The zookeeper is quite a busy man today, he is driving his crew very hard to get everything packed into the wagons and moving today! The large tent is being disassembled and packed, with the zookeeper overseeing every steep. All the zoo creatures are safely secured in their cages. There is a train of 20 wagons and horses being assembled, and it looks like as soon as the main tent is packed they will be ready to move out. The zookeeper keeps looking around and using a sweat rag to wipe his forehead in nervous gestures. The zookeeper keep on his crew for nearly two hours as you watch, but they finally manage to get it packed. With only a few loose ends to tie up, the zookeeper walks up and down the line of wagons making sure they will all be ready to roll out in the hour. Finally the man takes a break and steps into the back of what looks like his office and sleeping wagon. You didn't see anyone enter with him.

When Vauhwyt still ethereal enter the wagon living quarters and office, she find the man in a kneeling position, pale and shaken as he grovels "I swear lord had the unicorn, but she was stolen away. I will get you another one I just need more time! ....... What NO Please! I beg you you to give me another chance! ....... Yes anything! ........." He appears to be taking to thin air, there is no one other than the zookeeper you can see or hear in the wagon.

As a standard procedure many times mentioned, Vauhwyt ALWAYS has her Detect Scrying up. I did not mention it because I figured it was assumed. Does she detect scrying? Maybe get a fix/image on the scryer?

Meanwhile back at heaquarters Appolo continues to take care of the Harpie chicks.He Goodwin Dul and the Unicorn teach them all they can.Appoolo also has them find a tall tree neear by and has them makea nest in it.He plays hide and seek with them in the forest.Teaches them how set trap,find and remove them. All while waiting for Vauhwyt to return.

Malgant will watch the Zookeeper. He has not visited the zoo in it's stay here at the fair and he takes no precautions about being seen or disguising himself. He is a towering red and black, plate clad minotaur, standing or walking around the area, taking in the breakdown of the fair exhibits. When he sees Vauhwyt's opening he whispers through the message spell that the zookeeper is alone. He also cautions Vauhwyt since she is the only one without status cast on her at the moment.

Aztyr hangs out at the tent where they are staying, one last night. She awaits a call with the message spell, if she is needed. She looks almost relaxed, but there is just a slight twitch to her tail, which gives her away to those who know her best.
She's not sorry she broke the Unicorn out from that zoo, It just felt like the right thing to do then, and still now it felt right, leaving it in that cage for even a minute more than she she, she wouldn't have been able to live with herself.
Well, one way or the other the results would soon be known, either they were going to be in all out combat, or they were going to be camping the rest of the night and she'd be teleporting the rest of the refugees to the inn at Acid City.

(Aztyr's teleported 12, Malgant scared away 4 or 5, Vauhwyt is taking 4 or 5 with her so that should leave 8 or 9 for her to teleport in morning. Correct my math as needed)

The disguised Vauhwyt doesn't detect any Scrying, but then she is still in the ethereal plane which blocks line of effect to the prime material world.

While Vauhwyt is away from from the keep, Appolo continues to teach the Harpie chicks his skills of hidding, seeking, and about traps. The girls really enjoy spending time with uncle Appolo, he has all these exciting games and is no were as strict as there adoptive mother Vauhwyt. Hope manages to trap a squirrel and they play with it until Goodwin makes them let it go.

Helping Vauhwyt, Malgant keeps watch on the Zookeeper, while the minotaur watches the breakdown process.

Aztyr remains at the Uncle's tent, waiting to be called as backup. Yes, 5 of the fisher family and 8 of the others are left.

As Vauhwyt watches from the ethereal, the Zookeeper nods as he listens "Yes, minotaur, liontuar, female warriors, others with refugees. May be disguised ...... Yes, I understand my lord! I'll do as you demand!" After a moment the man stands looking shaken and sweating.

Vauhwyt wonders what she might get from the Detect Scry. Whatever the result, though, she hightails it back to report. She tells all she has seen. "The zookeeper reports to a wizard who can communicate from afar. Whatever his story, I suspect he is working for an evil masterr."

She gets some more supplies, and teleports back with the family. She explains that it will be camping until the house is finished. Arcane fail = 66 = A-OK. TP error = 2 = A-OK.

Malgant listens to Vaujwyt's scouting report and then watches her make ready and leave. " Ok, so he knows us by race, and description, knows we are working with the refugees and basically has us targeted. I think it is an excellent time for you to leave Vauhwyt. Take the fisher refugees to safety. That will make fewer for us to watch out for when things start popping out of the darkness." To the other refugees he tells them," There might be trouble tonight, before we are able to teleport you all away from here to a place to start over. If trouble happens stick together. One of us will direct you where to go while the others deal with the trouble."

Aztyr listens in as Vauhwyt relays what's said. When Vauhwyt comes back to the tent, Aztyr collects her hat of disguise, offering it again to Vorelle. She considers the amout of magic left to her for the day....
She's a bit suprised when Vauhwyt decides to head off with at least part of the fisher family.
She looks over at the rest of her friends and sees the same shock at the teleporting iontaur.

After hearing the party's description as it was relayed, Vorelle readily returns the Hat of Disguise.

"Doesn't sound like it'll do much good now," she says.

She and Champ help with watches that night.
