Jet Stormway (AC: 22/21/no dex, HP: 53/48 ; Bantom AC:19 HP: 51/51)
Wednesday September 15th, 2010 1:06:05 PM

"We don't want you to "give" us another scroll of Raise Dead, but we should likely buy one or two more with our loot."

What does she mean, don't do anything rash? Know it all wizards get on my nerves. I likely have more wisdom and common sense then she does! Jet thinks outside of the message spell, not really knowing, or caring, if he is heard by the others?"

Jet disagrees with Zeph, "The Ahote are safe. If I felt they were not, I would agree they need to be more properly equipped, but at this time, we need the supplies and resouces more then they. We already saved their people by using our own resources to bring them back a leader. Now, it is time for them to fend for themselves. I will suggest we do not come back here until our conflicts are over, to insure we are not leading our enemies to our friends."

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:26 HP:33/33]
Wednesday September 15th, 2010 3:48:43 PM

"Indeed, Jet, we should avoid here, knowing what may be following us. Let us head out towards the mines at first light, and hopefully Katarina will get back with us before we get too close. We'll keep our heads down, just in case, as we get closer. It would be good if we could get back in through the back entrance, but do remember that flaming trap they had set up for us."

Keela
Wednesday September 15th, 2010 4:55:07 PM

"I agree that we should not return to the Ahote," Keela says. "But I think it might be prudent for us to set up a base camp. Somewhere not too far from the mine, but hidden as best we can from the lizard-folk. It would be nice to have someplace to fall back to, if we needed it."

Alexi (AC: 19/11, HP:58/58) Lobo (AC: 19, HP:37/37)
Wednesday September 15th, 2010 11:03:46 PM

Alexi suggests giving the large daggers with the Ahote, since they are non-magical and probably won't bring much in coin. The other 'gear' can be left too, since they all go with the lizard mounts, but we need to keep the rope.

The rest will bring a fair amount of coin. Alexi believes that ALL the rings should be identified. "It won't cost all that much and worth it to know for sure what each one does. I think we should give one ring to Muata. He's the chief, y'know."

OOC: I think there's 6 of us and 10 rings. If one goes to Muata in honor of Dasan, and one goes to the new shaman in honor of Istaqa, that still leaves two extra to sell or keep. I'd say sell.

IC: "Perhaps we should leave before first light. We don't want to be seen coming out of the valley. I want to be well away from the valley when the sun crests."

Alexi spends the rest of the time getting the horses ready, making sure the saddles, bridles, and such are in good shape.

Before he hits the sack, he pays a visit to Mui'ama and wishes her well with the lizards. He gives her a kiss on the cheek and says, "we will be going back to our town to fight the lizardmen again. May I have a lock of your hair for good luck?"

Zeph AC22 HP 42/42
Thursday September 16th, 2010 2:30:19 AM

Zeph agrees that identifying them all seems good. He already has a ring of Protection+1, so if that's what it is, then i'll take mine in cash.

Zeph pats Jet on the shoulder and says, "Outvoted mate. These guys need the stuff more than we do. They may be facing Lizardfolk in the near future as well ya know. Were still gunna sell the Bastard Swords, Lances and leftover rings, so don't worry, you can have some of my share."

"Also, Alexi may be right, we should leave as early as possible, just let me get a bit of sleep, I may have to do some trap-finding in the morning." Zeph says as he sets his bed and takes a few last looks at a spell, hoping to memorize it in his sleep.

He is still wearing his black with white letter "Jesus saves, everyone else takes 5d6 points of damage." t-shirt beneath his mithril chain.

(OOC: I think I will start making a Pathfinder version of Zeph pretty soon. I'm thinking Rogue4/Illusionist1/Avengerx... and could I swap him to a Half-Elf since they are actually a playable race in Pathfinder? Actually... nevermind, think I'll stay human... actually, I'm at an indecision.)

DM Cayzle - Sorry
Thursday September 16th, 2010 7:47:56 AM

Real life got real busy. Very sorry. DM Post later today.

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:26 HP:33/33]
Thursday September 16th, 2010 11:42:19 AM

Garret nods in agreement with Alexi and Zeph's ideas of what to do with the gear. "Indeed, the Ahote may be better served by some of these items, especially if they are attacked again."

Jet Stormway (AC: 22/21/no dex, HP: 53/48 ; Bantom AC:19 HP: 51/51)
Thursday September 16th, 2010 3:16:32 PM

Jet looks down as Zeph again, pats him on the shoulder and growls, unconcerned at being out voted or not, and in a low rumbling voice asks, "Why do you insist on touching me? If you are doing it to annoy me, I will warn you, I'm not a nice person when in that mood."

He shakes his head and walks away to prepare for the morrow. "I think our best bet for a home base would be somewhere in the caves below the mines. At least they can not get to us in numbers that way, if we are discovered, as well, we can block passages with debris, unlike the open plains where they can fly those...those...things anywhere they desire."

DM Cayzle - Planning and moving out
Thursday September 16th, 2010 7:00:57 PM

Zeph offers guidance on IDing the magic items. He proposes some recon, with the idea that after the scrying, one option is to retake the mine and set a trap for the city forces when they come.

Jet thinks the Ahote are safe, but they will better stay that way if the heroes do not lead the enemy back to them.

Garret suggests a sneaky return through the back door. But he is wary of traps.

Keela suggests setting up a base camp near to Bryn Baraz.

Alexi has ideas for the loot as well. Moreover, he suggests giving a ring each to Muata and Mui'ama. He asks Mui'ama for a lock of hair. She blushes deeply, but cuts a long lock for him. "You have been good to us," she says, "remember me, and my people, by this gift." Looking down, she asks for a lock of Alexi's hair in return.

It seems the group will leave the large daggers, armor, beasts, and tackle with the Ahote. Also two rings? The party will claim the coins, bastard swords, lances, and leftover rings.

You all set out long before dawn, so as to be as stealthy as possible. In about two or three days you can get to the mine, maybe longer if you go slow, wander, and cover your route. Plans for travel? For watches? For the approach?

DM Cayzle - Two renegades
Thursday September 16th, 2010 7:08:01 PM

Leaving two dead kothrul at the top of the cliff they scaled to escape, two mining slaves -- now former mining slaves -- sneak away. They carry with them precious little beyond the loot they quickly scavenged from the kothrul, some leather armor, a couple weapons. They head into the dry grassy hills surrounding the mine, knowing that very soon an alarm will be raised, and a hunt begun.

[OOC: Welcome to Kristel and Jon. This post is for their new characters. You two can feel free to start posting. We'll finish up PC sheet details in e-mail. Note that the two groups remain unaware of each other, so put on your role-playing blindfolds, boys and girls, and no peeking. Do feel free to offer an OOC hello to our new players, of course.]

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:26 HP:33/33]
Thursday September 16th, 2010 7:35:30 PM

"Let's head out in the morning. I'm not sure we need to completely hide our tracks, but I think we should stay near to cover, in case the floating island shows up. I'm thinking we can't afford to take on the whole army at once."

"It will be easier, I think, if we keep the same watch each night: I'll take first watch with Zeph. Sjurd, Hmark, and Charek can take that midnight watch, hopefully not seeing a thing. Then Jet, Keela and Alexi can take that last watch."

"Let's be off!"

Charek
Thursday September 16th, 2010 10:01:40 PM

The Doughty dwarf gets a bit to drink accepts whatever loot comes his way and tries to relax knowing now that they are soon headed back to the mine.

(OOC: Welcome back Kristal and John)

Alexi (AC: 19/11, HP:58/58) Lobo (AC: 19, HP:37/37)
Thursday September 16th, 2010 10:56:20 PM

OOC: Kristal and John welcome to the Uncharted Heroes. This adventure is as fun as you make it. I've been having a blast!. :}

DM: i don't know what the Ahote are going to do with large magical plate armor. they can't wear them, nor can they resize them, or utilize the metal without destroying the magic. I was thinking we were going to sell them. We can ustilize the proceeds to buy studded or chain armor for all the warriors with that loot and have some left over.

I thought we were going to leave only the large daggers and miscelaneuse gear, or the lances if they can use them. Is that what you guys were thinking too?

IC: Alexi blushes even deeper than Mui'ama at her request. With a shaky hand he severs a good long lock of hair. With a leather strip he ties the lock into a bundle and does the same with hers.

"May Catori, the Spirit Mother, protect you. We shall return..." Alexi starts to get choked up and lets his thougths trail off. He tucks her lock inside his shirt and with one last glance at Mui'ama, heads to his camp.

Well before sunrise Alexi makes sure the horses are ready. Even though everyone is a rider, he still does his duty to make sure the saddles are on properly and the cinches tight.

"When we leave, it would probably be best to head outward, away from our main direction for a while. Does anyone have any magic that can hide our trail?"

Alexi agrees with the Watch order. While marching, he takes up a spot in the center so he can be available to either flank or front or rear.

OOC: one of you guys was using Lupin, do you want to pick up your own mount from the Ahote horses or continue using Lupin? Otherwise Alexi will leave Lupin with the Ahote.

IC: "You know, I really don't look forward to bringing our horses back through the underground river. Wish there was another way in."

Keela
Friday September 17th, 2010 1:55:51 AM

Keela makes her preparations and sets out with the others. She rides toward the rear of the goup, as befits a squishy wizard, and frets about how they are going to get into the mine.

[OOC Welcome Kristel and Jon]

Zeph AC22 HP 42/42
Friday September 17th, 2010 2:32:43 AM

OOC: Cayzle said that since the Archon can only teleport 50lbs of equipment at a time, and the Armor weighs upwards of 200lbs, we cannot sell it to the catacombs. The lances are large and cannot be used too efficiently by anyone here like the Short Swords (Large Dagger). I'm curious to see what the Rings are though.

Zeph nods in agreement with Garret and Alexi. "Yeah, I don't like the idea of going underground with horses either, but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do..." Zeph says, thinking of a sad monkey giving a thumbs-up.

Charek
Friday September 17th, 2010 8:23:49 AM

Charek looks around at his companions in disbelief.

"Umm guys there is no way the hoirses are going to make that trip. they would have to go and stay underwater for a long period of time. I doubt any of you have that much control over your horses."

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:26 HP:33/33]
Friday September 17th, 2010 1:49:35 PM

Garret nods to Charek, "Oh yes, they certainly won't be going that far underground. But they could come with us up to the point where the water begins. Was that not underground?"

OOC: I think I checked this last time, but I forget now -- what speed are we traveling on horseback? Garret would prefer to run along the ground, but would travel at a speed of 40. If that's slower than the horses, he'll ride.

Charek
Friday September 17th, 2010 4:56:52 PM

Not really the exterior entrance to the under ground tunnel is the oasis. you dive down to get to the passage which is all under water until you come up in the cave. It is how/where we left our ponies with the two Ahote when we first came to join you all.

Alexi (AC: 19/11, HP:58/58) Lobo (AC: 19, HP:37/37)
Friday September 17th, 2010 9:29:39 PM

OOC: true about the large magical armor, with only a 50lb limit per trip, they probably weigh much more than 50lb each. So I guess it's only the rings and b-swords that go.

IC: "If my memory is correct, the underwater passage was a stream that ran [i[out[/i] of the caves and into the oasis lake. It was hard enough to get the horses underwater going downstream. If we enter that way, they would be underwater and going UP stream. But I don't like leaving the horses outside and un-attended either. I don't want them to give away our possition nor get eaten.

"There's got to be a safer place. Perhaps Tarketh's grove is still intact. There is plenty of vegetation there to hide them and for them to have grass to eat. We'll have to scout out the place first."

Alexi reminds Jet of the place above the mine entrance where they found the puma. "Might be a good observation point."

Zeph AC22 HP 42/42
Saturday September 18th, 2010 5:01:44 AM

Here is Zeph's Pathfinder character sheet: Figured he would be level 7 by the time we swap over. Tell me whatcha think? Zeph Pathfinder

DM Cayzle - setting out.
Saturday September 18th, 2010 11:27:57 AM

OOC to All: Really sorry for bad posting this week. I'll try harder next week. Also regarding horses, I assume that the Ahote will give you up to 12 if you need them. Light warhorses, these would be. Also, we will gloss over our losses and hereafter assume that Hmark and Sjurd are staying here ... see below).

OOC to Zeph: You know we have not even revamped the Avenger for PF yet! LOL!

That night, before you set out, Muata comes to wish you good luck. He wants you to know that you will always have a place here. He has a special gift for each of you.

To Zeph, Garret, and Charek, he gives a (nonmagical) ring, carved of wood and ivory strands entwined together. "As the bone of the earth is entwined with the fruit of Mother Wold, so we stand fast entwined in friendship. Thank you for what you have done for us."

To Keela, he offers a fine stone trowel with a warm wood handle. It is most excellent in its design and function. Muata says, "This belonged to Isstaqua, and he used it in his own plantings. [OOC: This is a masterwork trowel, weight 1 lb, that gives +2 on all Profession Farmer and Profession Herbalist checks.]

To Jet, he gives a set of hard leather gloves, reinforced with bands of iron. "These were my father's, which he wore in battle, made for him by Isstaqua. Please wear them well and remember them."

To Alexi, the Ahote chief gives a fine lance. "Now that I carry my father's lance, let me give this to you, which I myself carried. May it serve you as well as it served me."

He says he will keep the armor here for now, and you can claim it when you will. Currently it will just slow you down.

In the night, Bantom, Jet's friend and mount, comes to visit him. "My friend and first master, these people need me. They put on a brave face, but their strength is gone. I hear them talk among themselves, and they could use my strength. Don't think badly of me, but I must stay."

Echoing the talking horse, Sjurd and Hmark have also decided to stay here. The Ahote will need them if they are attacked. And this gives them honorable exits from the game. Garret, you will have to rejigger your watches, please.

In the morning you set out. (Your kindly DM assumes all are mounted, on your own beasts, or on Ahote light warhorses.) Alexi wishes there were a way to cover your trail. But by going slowly and carefully, you can minimize it, you think.

Keela worries how they will get into the mine. Talk swings to the back door ... the pool, its underwater passage, and the caves beyond. Alexi hates to leave the horses behind. Zeph thinks dragging the horses through may be the only way. Charek is doubtful. You all recall that last time, you cast Water Breathing on them.

Alexi sugests Tarketh's grove. And remembers a possible vantage point.

The first day passes uneventfully.

Jet Stormway (AC: 22/21/no dex, HP: 53/48 ; Bantom AC:19 HP: 51/51)
Saturday September 18th, 2010 5:13:08 PM

Wrapping things up

Jet bows gratefully to the new Ahote chief and places the gauntlets in his hands. He can feel the power of his muscles swell as the ancient tribal magic surges through his veins. He stops to consider that this fine young man might need them, but he also remembers the customs of gift giving and would not insult these people. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The blood of our enemies will cover these gifts time and time again."

With Bantom, Jet knew this time would come. Once again, he looses someone close to him. Bantom was a trusted friend before he bacame intelligent and now, he does indeed have the right to do as he feels is needed. That has always been a thing Jet thought fondly of, individuality. "You are not getting away so easy my friend. From what I understand, I paid a pretty penny for you. You in turn will embrace the flanks of these fine steeds the Ahote raise and they will have powerful children from your seed. I think it would be fair if I were to receive the first born from your herd each season, to train properly for war. I will treat them as well as you have been."

Then Jet walks over and unties the barding, "If you do need to go to war for these people, let them put this back on you so you will be protected." Jet, being unarmored at the moment then casts his Enlarge Person spell on himself and says, "One last match for old time sake my friend." Jet then begins a grapple with his old time friend.

In the morning, Jet will have Vaya prepared for his war saddle. He will take one other horse from the Ahote as his supply animal.

The Two Slaves
Sunday September 19th, 2010 8:55:05 PM

The two runaways slaves see the light at the end of the mine shaft and press on toward it. In the back of both their minds is the sinking feeling that the dead jailers that they have left behind will soon be found under the rubage pile they were hidden.
Hopping that the gods are on there side they run faster knowing that the lizards are soon wake and find the mess that they left behind and start chasing them. the outside they both Breathing deeply the air of freedom.
The two Halfling's kiss to each other and with that quick embrace they turn and run without any words. Grabbing each others hand they make a run for the first thing that they can see that might be cover and put there faith in the gods.
Not knowing where they are or what direction help came be found, the two halflings just run in the first direction that offers some cover, as any place right now would better then the mine.

They are going to run as far as they can from the mine in as little time (full running speed not worried about a trail)

OOC Kristel is busy for a few days with hockey registrations so I will be covering her posting

Keela
Sunday September 19th, 2010 10:50:51 PM

Keela drops a solemn curtsey to Muata. "Thank you," she says. "One day I will have a home of my own, and I will use Isstaqua's trowel to plant herbs and vegetables all around it."

She politely declines the offer of a horse, preferring to continue riding Daisy. [OOC to DM: Daisy is a heavy riding horse, if you're keeping track. :) ]

Zeph AC22 HP 42/42
Monday September 20th, 2010 10:11:14 AM

Zeph will gladly accept a horse, and name him Shadow III... since I can't seem to keep track of whether or not I have a horse and this is my third replacement...

Garret Goodbarrel [AC:26 HP:33/33]
Monday September 20th, 2010 1:23:57 PM

When presented with the ring, Garret bows and says, "I am humbled and honored to accept such a gift from your people. I will cherish this gift and fondly remember the Ahote." He places the ring on his finger and admires it for a moment before turning and checking his belongings for the trip.

Garret watches in amazement as Jet enlarges himself and wrestles with his horse. When they are done, Garret just looks at them, not saying a word.

When Sjurd and Hmark mention that they will be staying with the Ahote, Garret says to them, "We have been together long, and I will fondly remember our times traveling far across the Wold together. If it is in the fates, perhaps we shall meet again. Until that time, I wish you good fortunes and peace."

In the morning, as the group sets out, Garret ponders the evening watch. "With our current numbers, I would suggest Jet and Zeph on first watch, Charek and I on midnight, and Keela and Alexi on last watch. If anyone should need more rest any night, I can easily stay awake for two watches. Any objections to that schedule?"

Garret passes most of the day, not saying much. He watches the land and the sky with interest, looking for signs of foul weather. He asks Alexi more about Tarketh's grove, thinking it would be good to have the horses at least somewhat hidden and safe in case the group needs to make a hasty exit once again.

Charek
Monday September 20th, 2010 2:58:49 PM

Bowing low and thanking Muata for the ring, Charek immediately puts it on the finger opposite and yet equal with his Family's signet ring.

As for a beast, he chooses a calm and smaller one that will more easily one of his stature.
