Critical failure rings in Braugh's ears. His axe is on the ground next to him, its a move action to pick it up and it provokes Attacks of Opportunity from the 2 Orcs around you now. But drawing a weapon does NOT provoke AOO, so you got a spare there?
Don't worry though, cool stuff happens when you get criticals too.
Then, an orc in the back drops his bow and moves to attempt to flank Braugh. He can't quite get there (only 30move), but you can sense he will be there next time. Both of the Archers start beating on Braugh with their Handaxes. Luckily your armor is thick and your shield is broad. You can feel their anger as the powerful blows knock you about, but do not pierce your defenses (Miss AC 12 and 8) even though your unarmed.
Tahni sees the Dwarven soldier bleeding to death on the ground and runs to his aid. She places a hand on his arm stub and the blood stops flowing. His face relaxes and it seems he may go into a coma, which might be restorative for his recovery (making fort saves to get hp back slowly). Lucky Dwarves are so tough.
The life of a combat medic is cruel though. The raging orc lifts his Falchion high and swings down mightily for his Attack of Opportunity (Shoulda rolled concentration to cast defensively). Luckily, Tahni remembers what training in combat she did learn and steps to the side just as the blade slices deep into the earth (Miss AC 10, lucky there). He looks at you with a devilish grin.
Then the Orc attacks for his turn. He rips the sword out of the ground and slams the blade into Tahni's side (Hit AC 17) for 9 damage. Your blood spills upon the blade and he slides it out of you in the most painful and slow way he can, sensing a kill.
The Orc speaks in broken common, "D'ya know Dwarves are our race's favor'd enemy too? Hatred go both way." His yellow eyes show some mad hatred.
Boomy is a trained grappler that studied several arts in his younger days. It may be his age or maybe Half-Elves just give him the willys. The Bard gives Boomy a hard elbow to the nose, crunching it and making it a bit bloody.
The Bard slips lose, takes a half-step back and draws a Rapier from his belt, brandishing it like a Fencer. He says, "I'm just a pawn in this, I was paid some coin to Enchant some of the patrons. That's it, I swear" Sense Motive DC 11 to reveal some stuff.
Frootloop spreads blood on his face and runs through the crowd like a linebacker, knocking people's beer all over his flesh... which makes him more angry. He grabs his GreatAxe and runs outside to see the battle rage. Before him, Tahni is being struck by a Falshion of a raging orc and Braugh is being slowly flanked and disarmed.
Though its a shame you can't see the map, its pretty. You don't have google docs? I made it public on web.
Then the dwarven guards attack again, their axes and shields clang upon their foes and Falchion/handaxe deflecting. The battle is ferocious indeed.
The Dwarf facing the Raging orc that is not attacking Tahni gives the Orc a slam to the face with his shield, granting a combat advantage. The Dwarv's axe strikes home (Hit AC 18), slicing deep into the green flesh(10damage!), blood spews on the ground and the orc takes a quick knee, the axe is stuck deep in his chest as the dwarf holds it. The green skin is not down though, he spits blood in the Dwarf's eye, temporarily blinding him and then stabs the Falchion (hit AC 27, crit confirmed with 24 for 13 damage) into the dwarf's own sternum. They are in a deadlock, each holding on to the weapon inserted into his enemy. They stair down with grinding bloody teeth.
The other dwarves fair with mixed result. An orc archer takes 6 damage from one well-placed axe as two dwarves decide to gang up on an archer as two archers gang up on Braugh.
One of these two shouts to Braugh, Hold in there, this one shall be dead soon and then our fury will rain together!"
Epic stuff guys.

Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 Wednesday October 27th, 2010 5:57:32 AM OOC: Tahni had moved to L28 (refer previous post), rather than the J28 she seems to be in now. That is, she planned to move to the bottom, diagonal left of the fallen dwarf, and kept about 10ft between her and the nearest orc. Moving to L28 would not have occured an Attack of Opportunity, and if the orc does move to attack Tahni, my understanding is that he would then draw an Attack of Opportunity from Dwarf Soldier 2, so would most likely have left her alone and continued battling with the nearest warrior. Can you please advise before I make my next post? Thanks! Oh, and kudos for the good, lengthy post for the battle :)
DM Addison: Lengthy posts are not better than accurate posts. I guess I missed the L28 part. Well, the Orc is on J30 and your on L28, and the rules state that a Medium creature can stand and fight on the space where another medium creature is unconscious. So, the orc can 5-foot hop on top of the fallen dwarf, attack you, and not incur an AOO from Dwarf Soldier 2.
Unless I'm wrong about standing over dead bodies. And on the plus side, now the Orc is flanked by you and the Dwarven Soldier.

The orcs wicked blade slices deep into Tahni's side, the air expels from her lungs in the form of a painful scream. Though she stands on her feet, the wound may yet prove fatal.
The orc who dealt it still stands over Tahni, his blade would seem no match for her simple dagger. Frootloop appears to have come to her rescue - yet again.
Tahni takes a step backwards, away from the orc, and prays to Alemi for protection. Cast Sanctuary on self. Duration 1 round. Anyone wishing to attack Tahni must succeed on a Will Save vs DC15 first
Assuming that since she is 5ft away, she provokes no Attack of Opportunity while casting, so no concentration check is needed. Also, out of curiosity, what time of day are we at?

I'll usually give a player a day or two to post before skipping their turn.
DM post will come shortly now that Braugh is in. Man, really, what's up with your rolls? I have some cool ideas as for what it would look like to kill an enemy by smiting their evil souls as well as their body.
Also, feel free to give me descriptions of how you fight for flavor. Feints, kicks, spits, throwing dirt, headbutts, relentless assault at one area of the enemy so they lower defenses on another. These details will be read, add flavor, and can result in bonuses to your damage or to-hit. Casters can do the same with their spells.
Or can result in hero points... but those are reserved for heroic decisions. Speaking of which, the definition of heroic changes from character to character. And don't forget, martyrdom isn't always heroic... but sometimes is.

(Oh, BTW, Frootloop: your handerchief is magically in your pocket. Keep it for a dire situation.;)
And its mid-day. Summer, a bit hot with a cool breeze from the east.
Frootloop rushes the Orc that sliced his blade into Tahni. The mad Barbarian swings wide and his axe bites earth. The orc is surprised, now being surrounded by three dwarves.
Your next attack is met with a strong parry that sends sparks flying through the air as the blades clash together.
When you speak to the Orc, it seems he does not understand the language. Knowledge Nature or Dungeoneering DC 14: Highlight to display spoiler: {Most orcs are only taught Orcish, Goblin, and Common if they have the intelligence to even learn three languages.}
But he speaks back in Common, " Where do these short bearded ones keep coming from? It's like they just spring up out of the ground or something."
The other Orcs laugh at the joke.
Then, the Orc attacks Frootloop in an equally mad fury, slicing at his hands on the haft of his axe, delivering a swift kick to Frootloop's stomach and then when Frootloop grabs his midsection, the orc plunges his sword into your backside. You see it protrude through your chest below you. (Hit AC 17 for 10 damage. Down to 2 man! Better finish this)
The Dwarven soldier flanking the orc with Frootloop and Tahni swings at the orc, only to hit thin air (hit AC 6, nat 1)
Boomy is tied up with his own problems at the bar.
Your sense motive and intuition of being a wise old man tells you that his young half-elf is definately lying. He knows more than he is telling you.
The Bard replies back, "I know nothing and your a smelly old man that should already be in the dirt!" he shouts as he tries to Feint (bluff dc 22, but your previous sense motive beat it. =)
As you approach he swipes his rapier at you in defense, but you just lean back and step forward every time he swipes like the matrix and you grab his wrist and begin grappling. He struggles against your grip, but you got his shirt and wrist.
When grappling you can do damage as a monk btw, and he will have to do a CMB attack and try to beat your CMD before he can do a damn thing. Sometimes making movement and actions difficult for your enemy is the best option.
Tahni, after some decision, hops back and claps her hands together, creating a golden forcefield around her. The orc rolls 7 on will save and thus cannot attack.
He swings his sword, only to be deflected by the golden hue.
Braugh whips out a spare Warhammer and starts swinging it at the Orc he is attempting to smite. (Shouldnt your attack be 1BAB+3Str+3cha from smiting = 7?) Smiting in Pathfinder lasts until one of you is dead or the battle ends. And you get +3cha bonus to AC vs the orc your smiting too.
Unfortunately, the orcs are very good at defending themselves and deflect each of your attacks.
Then the two orcs attack you Braugh again. Beating on your shield and armor. One hits AC 21 for 3 damage, slicing into your calf sending pain jolts up your spine.
The Dwarven guards fair well this round. The two that were ganging up on a lone Orc Archer manage to slice him juuuuuust enough so that the green man hits the ground at 0 hp.
The Dwarven Guard and Berzerker Orc are locked in a deathgrip. They rip their own blade out of the other and swing at the same time. The Dwarf is quicker though and his axe buries itself into the skull of the raging Orc, making the blade in his hand jolt and go limp.
The Dwarf is on his knees as his foe falls. He is down 13 hp and is barely able to keep himself together. Yet, he grabs his axe and lifts it from the carcas, and begins marching towards the Raging Orc that is slowly killing the party, he speaks and his red beard shakes with anger, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"

Frootloop slings his GreatAxe around his head in several deadly arcs. You break through the orc's defenses and slice into his bare chest. The orc soaks in the damage and grinns at Frootloop.
Then, the Orc counter-attacks. Kicking at Frootloop and countering his rage with his own. THe Orc's falchion strikes true, piercing yet again into the sternum of the dwarf. Hit AC 21 for 9 damage. Frootloop's at -7 HP and unconcsious.
But, even as the orc's blade stabs Frootloop, the Dwarven Guard behind the Orc takes advantage of the distraction and slices the Orc's leg in twain (hit AC21 for 6 damage). It collapses on the ground, bleeding out.
Tahni casts Protection from Evil on herself. WHich confuses me, you are already in the protective bubble of Sanctuary and the only orc around you failed his will save. Woulda done better to cast Prot from Evil on Frootloop. Or lose the spell in exchange for Cure Light WOunds.
Braugh after fighting these two Orc Archers for 3 rounds, finally hits some flesh with his warhammer. THe white light blinks as he smites evil and smacks the Orc's skull, cracking jawbone. The orc still stands and counter attack with his brother next to him. They hit AC 23 and 16, one hits for 6 damage.
The other two dwarves attack the Orc that Braugh softened up and take its head off with their axes.
The last Orc Archer stands there after attacking Braugh and watching his brother get decapitated.
He tries to run away but the Dwarven guards tackle him.

Five Orcs are bleeding out on the ground. One dwarf on the ground with no arm, but stable. One dwarf bleeding heavily and three more in relatively good shape.

Dropping to her knees by his side, she extends her blood covered hand across the brow of the mighty dwarf, and utters a prayer to Alemi to save her dying friend. Cast Stabilize . Though she has only known him a short while, tears begin to flow from her eyes, as the stress and andrenaline of her first battle wash over her. As Bruagh's breathing steadies, she takes a moment to catch her breath.
Tahni lifts her head, wipes away some tears with the back of her dirty hand, and speaks to the dwarven group "I will do what I can to heal the wounded, but my gift does not discriminate between good and evil. The orcs - if alive - will receive the same healing as everyone else. I suggest making sure none of them rise again." There is a hardness to her voice that wasn't there before. The Barkeep is not happy when the armless dwarf is plopped on the table. He moans in pain and spills blood all over the floor.
Boomy hog-ties the Half-Elf bard (yeah, escape artist works for me) while he is stunned, keeping him for questioning. He searches the man, finding a Rapier, 2 daggers, a light crossbow with 20bolts, a chain shirt, a vial of green liquid (Alchemy to identify), a Fiddle, and exactly 97gold pieces.
It takes at least 2 minutes to take 20 on an action, and since your Stunning Fist only stuns for one round, you gotta work quickly. 21 is your roll.
Some of the Dwarven Guards that walked in, holding an Orcish prisoner, notice Boomy looting the man and question: "Why do you empty his pockets and disarm him? Do you intend to rob a man after a tavern brawl? Such dishonor."
They look a bit angry. They hold an orc between them, also bound in much the same hog-tie that Boomy got the Bard in.
Then, Tahni unleashes her channel positive energy ability all over the place. Good vibrations hit everyone's wounds and the whole crowd mellows out a bit.
The Bard that Boomy was holding wakes up as he is healed and looks around scared. The stunning effect only lasts 1 round. He tries to get out of the rope, and rolls a nat 1 for a total of 8! See, thats the fun of rolling and not taking 20s. ;)
He sees the Dwarven guards and immediately begins talking. "This guy just assaults me out of no where and starts robbing me! Help, you're teh law around here. Arrest this crazy old Dwarf!" Bluff DC 25. Guards rolled 14 sense motive. Fail. They believe him.
Frootloop receives the healing just in time as he begins to slip into death's door. He can even hear the trumpets of the Chaotic Good gods of the Wold calling him to the afterlife.
But he pops up and immediately asks for beer. Tahni starts handing Frootloop beer and speaks to him before walking over to talk to the de-armed Dwarf.
Perception DC 21(forgot +2 for something on this toon's character sheet) Highlight to display spoiler: {The Halfling woman that tried to kill Frootloop wakes up as well and immediately begins creeping towards a window}
The Leader of the Dwarves feels the healing wave and his chest wound closes up considerably. It is still a deep gash though. He thanks Tahni and says to Braugh, "I am Roger Redforge, captain of the Guard of Riddleport. We are here on a mission to secure the tavern and bridge area. As you know, this bridge is the last working one between the Kingdom of New Elenna and The Scab. Though most in the world would see this bridge destroyed in some vain attempt to keep the evils of the Scab away, those of us that settled RiddlePort knew that the Ellenian peninsula is too small for all the Wold's populace. Besides, the Scab is rich with volcanic activity, and thus minerals for mine and export. Now you see the bridge's worth? This tavern is the only refuge between Riddleforge and the southern civilized areas. Holding the Bridge and the Tavern is vital to our survival."
Then, he places something on the table in front of Braugh. It's a hand-axe. The very same that the Orcish Archers were wielding. As a matter of fact, it has YOUR blood on it.
"Look at it." Roger says. It has geometric pattern with a strong, sturdy ash hilt and the trumpet of the blade is thick and focused to a fine blade. "It's made of Adamantium. Made... by a Dwarf. We recently uncovered a cache of hundreds of weapons such as these. Wielded by Orcs. Where are such weapons coming from and why are these creatures holding so many? We have been investigating for months now and have nothing."

Boomy HP 11/11 AC 17/17/13 d20=1 ; d20+7=15 ; d20=10 ; Monday November 1st, 2010 9:16:59 PM Aye, the bard is skilled at telling half-truths, but there is a room full of wittnesses that this man is part of something larger. He enchanted the patrons and they were only freed of his spell after I hit him. They will tell you that there was magic about, but there is more. After the bard knew he was beat he said "I'm just a pawn in this, I was paid some coin to Enchant some of the patrons. That's it, I swear." The others heard it.
I tied him up so he could be questioned. I wouldn't rob a man, and to say I would do such a thing in front of so many wittnesses insults both my honor and my intelligence. I just didn't want him pulling any more tricks. Certainly you find it a bit odd that a bar fight breaks out as orcs attack.
Knowledge alchemy=1 Perception =15 Diplomacy = 10 (hopefully there is a bonus for each wittness and a circumstance bonus since the bard looks like a captive / prisoner and these are odd circumstances).
Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 d20+4=10 ; d20+5=8 ; Monday November 1st, 2010 11:31:38 PM Perception Check: 10, Diplomacy Check: 8. Ouch. Hopefully there's some gratitude in the room from the healing!
Tahni whistles as the adamantium axe is placed on the table. She longs to obtain some of the raw materials, though now is not the time to make such requests. "Hundreds of adamantium weapons? There must be a rich vein nearby. But to have that many orcs in between is certainly an obstacle" she muses to herself. "If things are as dire as they seem Captain, perhaps some seasoned travellers such as ourselves may be able to assist? We are, after all, able to venture places that an army may not be permitted to."
Though the bard is restrained for now, Tahni still does not trust him. "Captain, though we were outside fighting the battle with you, the events that occured prior have been accurately described by this man. The tavern was indeed under the control of some spell, and this man did aid us. Rather than let a guilty party go, perhaps holding both he and the bard in this room until the matter is resolved would be wise? And if I might suggest, keeping his instrument away from him for the time being? At least, until the situation is clearly understood. On another matter, you didn't happen to see a man fleeing the bar prior to the battle? You see, in addition to the orcs, and the tavern being under some form of mind control, there was also what we believe to be an attempted assassination of the gnome over there." Tahni then nods in the direction of the orcish prisoner "Has he provided any useful information? If there is anything we can do to assist with an interrogation, please let me know."

With a booming voice, Frootloop yells out: STOP THAT HALFLING. *pointing to the sneaking wench* She robbed from us, and then attacked me with a dagger envenomed with poison. I could feel it trying to overwhelm me but she underestimated our kind. And now she is trying to sneak off like the scum she is to do whoknowswhat to some other poor soul.
Frootloop slides off the table, and grabbing a chair, positions himself between her and the window she sees as her escape. Chair at the ready to strike.
Wench, you may be able to get by me, but I doubt you could get by them. *motioning with his head towards the dwarven guard*

Bruagh is truly disturbed by the words of the good Captain. "Captain Redforge, might I inspect this weapon?" Bruagh takes the hand-axe, wipes his blood from it, and begins inspecting it. He tries to determine the value (6) but isn't certain. He tries to determine the craftsmanship, comparing it to his own, and checks for any symbol that might reveal its creator.(27) Bruagh is completely oblivious to his surroundings until FrootLoop points out the fleeing halfling (10), at which point Bruagh tries to catch her before she makes it out the window.

DM Addison d20+4=11 ; d6=1 ; Wednesday November 3rd, 2010 3:49:13 AM Boomy and Tahni claim that the bard man was casting a spell to enchant the bar to fight.
One of the dwarven guards with a black beard looks around at some of the patrons and says, "Orc attacks happen often where we come from. Almost daily. Still, its important to get to the bottom of this. Well. Was anyone under a spell?" he speaks, the last sentence addressing the entire room.
There are approximately 25 people in the room, including the dwarven guards and heroes. A few patrons with black eyes and bruises mumble something that sounds like, "Well... I don't really rememeber much of the last hour or so"
"An assassination attempt on a gnome? Wow, some crazy stuff went down in this bar."
You look around and see that the Gnome is vanished... (waiting Jerry's approval to allow Troy to play as a Gnome. Maybe, maybe not. I works with his character concept. Would anyone be against allowing a Gnome to represent?
Also, Boomy, the character sheet is yours to do with what you want if you wanna join the game permanently. I'll give ya editing privliges and you can change class or stay same or whatev. )
But the guards get the idea something is up. The bard persists, "I know nothing.
Braugh looks at the HandAxe and compares it to his own. He is a very good craftsman for his experience (how you got +9 to your Craft Weaponsmith. +2int +3class skill +1rank = 6 eh? Did you get feat Skill focus craft?)
Nonetheless, Braugh sees that the axe is very well made. And the metal is a dark, almost black ironish ore that is sturdy. You pluck it and feel the vibration. The blade is similar to yours when comparing width of blade to trumpet. But the curve of the slicing edge is different. Your is rounded, while theirs is composed of three straight lines, making the axe more like a razor blade with 3 edges instead of an effective place-your-haft-here mechanism that your blade is made for.
Then, you look at the handle and below the leather-bound hilt, there is the bolt that binds the blade to the haft. The bolt has an insignia. It looks like this Duergar Symbol.
Oh snap!
Then FrootLoop sees the Halfing woman and points her out. He stands, grabbing a chair.
Captain Redforge says, "It appears that we need to hire an entire guard unit for this tavern alone. I'm going to stake this place out until we can get some defensive walls up."
Then he stands and grabs his Dwarven Axe and begins walking to the Blond Halfling, "You are under arrest for assisting in the robbery of the RiddlePort treasury Tiffany." He points his axe at her.
She looks completely stunned. She draws her short-sword and rushes at Frootloop, seeing that he is already injured. She stabs and misses, hiting AC 11. MISS! "You couldn't just let me go huh?' she says and spits at you.

I'll adjust my character sheet. So in total is should have been +5. Oops.
"My friends I can say, the orcs aren't getting their blades from any Dwarf. These blades used to spill Dwarven blood have the mark of an enemy as bad as any Orc. These blades are forged by the bloody Duergar.!"
As the halfling woman moves and attacks FrootLoop, Bruagh lunges to cleave the wench in twain but misses much as he had before. For a split second Bruagh contemplates the fact that maybe he should have stayed home and worshiped Domi from his Forge, because at the rate he was going he'd soon be dead.

Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 Wednesday November 3rd, 2010 8:00:48 PM OOC: No objection whatsoever to a gnome. Welcome Troy! Fyi - Bruagh and the guards should still be under the effect of a bless spell for one more round (i think) Also, Bruagh, the +2 to craft for metals/stone for dwarves was in the 3.5 rules and has (unfortunately) been removed from Pathfinder. We still get +2 to Appraise for them though, which is the appropriate skill if you want to ascertain the axe's worth
Tahni had no idea the halfing woman was still here. What's more she - Tiffany - seems well known to the guards.
"Keep an eye on that song weaver!" she calls out to Boomy. Though the older dwarf may be unable to join in on this battle, the last thing needed now was for the dwarven guards to fall under the bards control. Tahni had seen the dwarf fight - he subdued patrons rather than kill them, and seemed to be on the parties side. And he is a dwarf. That was enough for her to trust him for the time being.
Tahni considers her own options. She is yet to gain a more detailed understanding of the divine arts, so is unable to provide Frootloop with any healing or protection. Moving in closer would only prevent the guards from arresting/attacking the halfling, and provoking the halfling could see her turn and strike out at Tahni.
A small smile appears on Tahni's face as an idea comes to her mind. Targetting the area above the halflings head, Tahni calls forth some water. Clean, pure, cold, wet water. Cast Create water above the halflings head. 2 gallons/16pnds of water. Hoping to at least distract the halfling, maybe even improve the odds of her fumbling her weapon

Jonathan Stout seems to want to play a bard/roguish character for us. If I can talk him into being the Gnome, then he may reshape the guy as he was intentionally meant to be. I think he will round the party out nicely whether he choses to be the Gnome or another Dwarf.

ooc First gnomes, then elves, then whoknowswhat, I thought this was a dwarf game. I normally wouldn't quip about this but if the game is new, and its a game set for dwarves, why can't everyone be a dwarf? Is it because they feel they need to be different? You can be different and yet be the same race. I was just looking forward to playing an all dwarf game.
DM Addison: To answer your inquiries. There will be no elves. The reason Jerry allowed a Gnome was simply because Gnomes are a part of the Scab's culture. Not as much as dwarves, as you will find out, but they are still out there. The reason is not because anyone wanted to be different, but they just wanted to represent another aspect of the Scab.
You will see, the scab is an interesting place.
But again, it's all up to Jonathan Stout. Troy is going to be a Dwarf, so until I hear from Jonathan, its still an all-dwarf game.

I am having a blast, first off... your doing an awesome job Addison, keep up the good work man. Second... I am fine with up to and including one gnome. No more and no other race. Dwarves are typically tolerant of other races but rarely have true friendship with only Dwarves and occasionally Gnomes mostly because it typically takes dwarves 40 to 50 years to have a "true" friendship with someone else. And of course culture... Dwarves befriending elves... only in Middle Earth lol.
DM Addison d20+7=18 ; d20+7=20 ; Friday November 5th, 2010 8:57:07 PM Tahni casts Create Water over Tiffany's head, splashing her face. She curses loudly.

She full withdraws to the Window and jumps out (Acrobatics 18). If you look out the window for her Perception DC 20 Highlight to display spoiler: { She is hiding in the bushes outside the tavern for the time being.}
Boomy's concerns are more focused on the bard that he captured and preventing that person form getting away from interrogation.
Surprisingly, just as Boomy thinks that his hands-on approach wouldn't be appreciated, one Dwarven guard grabs the Half-Elf bard by the hair and slams his face on a splintering wooden table. He screams in pain.
The guard says, "Tahni, Braugh, and the old monk dwarf claim you were in on this deal. Tell the truth and you may keep your ears." the guard says as he presses the blade of his axe to the Bard's ear, pinning it hard against the table and drawing some blood from the cuticle.
He shouts, "Ugh, don't cut my ear off. Then I lose Perception skills and I get a %failure chance on spells!"
The Gnome (who is swapping ownership currently), wonders whether he was the target of a botched assassination attempt or an attempted framing.
Roger RedForge is visibly frustrated at the Halfing woman getting away. He points to two guards and then points outside. They run outside to attempt to find the halfling woman.
Then the Bard speaks up, "Look, all I know was this guy in a dark cloak gave me 100gold to sing a song that befuddles half the bar. I think he wanted a distraction to escape. I don't know who it was, that's it!"

The dwarven guard holding the axe looks at Braugh and nods that this is the truth, the boy knows his laws.
Then he speaks up again, "But you listen here, I know some very powerful people, and if you hurt me, there will be a hell of a lot to pay for. Blood shall be spilt." His words are not very convincing though. One of the Dwarven guards snickers at the boy.
Then the boy looks right at Tahni, "Tell ya what. Here's my deal: I give you the information you want... if you let me go. Whatcha say?"

Tahni considers the boys offer. She hears a warcry, followed by a loud noise - like a club cracking against a coconut - followed by a softer thump . She can only assume that the halfling has been subdued.
She returns her attention to the bard. "Boy, do you realise the crimes you will be charged with? A dozen counts of Illegal Use of Mind Control, probably the same number of Assault via Mind Control, significant property damage, resisting arrest, and worst of all attempted murder. I doubt there is enough information that could completely excuse the gravity of your crimes. That being said, I am not here to act as judge over your crimes, and you are not my prisoner. You are the prisoner of Captain Redforge - and of course, this man with his axe pressed against your head - and right now you do not have many people on your side. So here is my deal - tell me all that you know, speaking truthfully, omitting nothing, and I swear to mighty Alemi that if what you tell me is indeed useful, I will do what I can to ensure that it is taken into account before you are sentenced. As a priest, my words often provide significant weight to either argument. Failing that, you can take your chances with the guards. That is the best you will be offered."

He stairs, waiting for your response. Sorry, diplomacy checks werent high enough to get the results you guys want. And roll a sense motive when you ask questions to see if the answer is a lie or not. One sense motive per conversation works though so if you already rolled it, then just repost it at the bottom.
After Frootloop knocks out the Blonde Halfling, Boomy ties her in much the same knot he tied the Bard.
Frootloop goes back to the bar, grabs his axe, and asks for beer. The barkeep gives willingly flagons of ale to the dwarf to aid in his recovery.
Frootloop may be a beer-powered dwarven killing machine before this adventure is done.
Boomy drags in the bound and unconscious Halfling woman and plops her face-down on the table much like the Bard is.
Captain Roger RedForge looks at Braugh and Tahni, "I give you permission to take his deal or not. If you refuse, then feel free to leave him in our custody here. This is now our post. The truth is, you guys should be following up on this Adamantine Duergar weapon deal if you want to be the most helpful. I ask that you report to my uncle, Rupert Redforge at RiddlePort and tell him what we found here. Cross the bridge and its a 4-day walk directly west across the coastline to reach. We just made the trot, its not so bad. Horses seem to be in short supply right now, so foot is the best mode of transportation that we have at our disposal."
He says, waiting for your response.
Bruagh Stormbringer AC 19/12/17, HP 13/13 Monday November 8th, 2010 7:26:08 PM "I'll not cut a deal with this fellow, he's had his chance. He was informed of my terms, and chose not to accept them. He can face the consequences. I only ask Captain, that you make sure this man sees justice." Bruagh completely ignores the bard now, having decided that he can do nothing more and in the grand scheme of things isn't as important as finding out about the weapons.
"Captain, I'll head your word and will set forth to find the source of these weapons. Tahni, FrootLoop, Boomy, shall we work together to take these Duergar forged weapons out of the hands of our ancestral enemy?
Bruagh awaits response from what he hopes to be his companions before continuing. After hearing their responses he continues speaking to the Captain.
Captain Redforge, I'll go see your uncle and let him know what we found. I do have a request from you. Might I take that Duergar Handaxe in my journey? I firmly believe in using what is close to your enemy to strike against them. I give you my word on the Stormbringer Clan name that after we accomplish our task and confiscate these weapons and end the threat from these orcs, this weapon will be returned to either your or your uncle. If you prefer not to part with such a valuable weapon for a time I understand fully."
Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 d20+4=9 ; d20+8=14 ; Monday November 8th, 2010 8:46:34 PM Sense Motive Check from earlier: 18
"As you wish. I shall pray for you" Tahni responds to the bard with a nod, before turning to Captain Redforge. "Captain, would it be ok with you if the prisoner is secured in one of the rooms away from this halfling? He has had more than a fair chance to be offered leniency. She" Tahni says nodding to the unconscious halfling " may be more willing to listen to reason."
Tahni then faces the bard again "We will be leaving after a night's rest. If you reconsider our offer, please let one of the guards know. You should ask yourself - do you think this girl will remain as tight lipped as you? She is known to the guards - as you no doubt noticed - so what do you think the chances are that she has a criminal past, and would want to do whatever she can to avoid harsh punishment? Whoever speaks first is always the one who gets the deal. Good day, and may Alemi watch out for you"
Once done with the bard, and with the halfling still unconscious (Perception (9) and Heal (14) checks to make sure she isn't faking and isn't dying) Tahni considers the Captains proposal. She responds in dwarven, wary of the orc still in the room. "The weapon is a concern. I agree that something must be done. I propose we stay here the night to recover fully from the day, and head out at dawn. If you have no objections, Captain, would you mind if we took what supplies we could from the fallen orcs? A four day walk through the Scab may not be easy, and we should prepare as best we can - even if it means readying ourselves with their foul gear"
"As for the prisoners. Has the halfling been checked for weapons? As I recall, she was very handy with a knife. It may be best to remove them from her before she wakes. She also took the liberty of removing coins from my friends and I. 15 gold to be precise. If they are still on her person, then perhaps we should gift them upon the barkeep, for both his ongoing cooperation, and for the damage that has already been done to his establishment? As for the orc maggot over there, I have experience with many languages. Should you require a translator for an interogation, I would be happy to assist as best I can."

After listening to the captain Boomy decides to question the bard some more and to see if thr group can keep the Adamantine weapon to aid them in their search, but both Bruagh and Tahni beat him to the question. Seeing that all is taken care of he returns to his drink and thinks about what adventure might wait ahead for them.
ooc: I rolled for diplomacy with the guard and bard, but got beat to the post last night. The other rolls were just to see if the die roller would give me anything other than a 7.
FrootLoopAC16, Touch/Unarmored11, HP21/1 Tuesday November 9th, 2010 11:41:39 AM Let me see. I get to see the countryside, beat up some bad guys, enjoy the company of new friends and drink some good ale. Who could ever refuse an invitation like that. I'm game, Braugh. But, perhaps a little bit of healing thrown my way, otherwise I feel a good strong breeze could knock me unconscious again, and if that happens I doubt I would be very much help if we found ourselves in a scrap.
If, healing is offered, Frootloop readily accepts. Then, after a couple more pictures of the good stuff followed up with some good grub, he will retire to the comfort of a room with a comfortable bed. In the morning, after cleaning his equipment up, then himself, and after a good hearty breakfast, Frootloop dons his armor, puts on his pack and slides the handle of his axe into its backharness. Then does some stretching exercises to prepare himself for the long walk ahead.
Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 Wednesday November 10th, 2010 1:54:03 AM OOC: A successful heal check was made on Nov 1st to provide Frootloop with long term care: "If your Heal check is successful, the patient recovers hit points or ability score points (lost to ability damage) at twice the normal rate". Unfortunately, I think he'll still need quite a bit more!
DM Addison Wednesday November 10th, 2010 4:06:47 AM
For healing hitpoints, the rule i like is that you get your HD+con modifier per day of rest. So Frootloop heals 6hp in one day of resting, Tahni's successful heal check doubles that to 12. So at the start of the next day, Frootloop will have 13HP. Not bad for not spending a spell or a channel energy.
When Tahni tells the Bard that the Halfling woman will probably speak up and get a lighter sentence, he replies, "Well. You assume that I know who she is don't you?" You don't think he was lying, but he refuses to speak to anyone, shutting his trap tight.
The Captain willingly accept's Tahni's volunteering to be the translator. The Orc speaks much quicker than the bard, pretty much as soon as Braugh puts his boot to the GreenSkin's face. The Orc Prisoner claims, "We were told by a little Troglodyte informant where to find the weapons. I remember because he smelled really bad. He mark cache location with criss-cross on a tree. We retrieve weapons and inspired to kill humans in tavern."
That seems to be the jist of it. The rest are inaudible please for his mother.
So then the Group rests
In the morning the Bard has not spoken and the Halfling woman is still unconscious.
The Barkeep gladly accepts the money you donate. Hero Point for Tahni for suggesting it. Good thoughts good vibrations.
Captain Roger Redforge walks out of the tavern into the morning dewy air with you all. The Orc corpses are quite wet. The Captain grunts and rubs his head, "I guess the first duty in battlefield space control is keeping it clear of corpses." He laughs and orders his men to burn the orcs and begin gathering wood for fortifications.
"We shall stay, refortify this place, and question the three prisoners. You shall pass into the city with these papers and find Rupert Redforge as soon as possible. Just follow the coast east for four days and you will get to RiddlePort.
Your assistance was invaluable, both during and after the fight. Braugh Stormbringer, Tahni Wyrmrider, Boomy, Sir Frootloop. You can take what provisions we can offer, enough food for a week per person just about. More if you ration. Hopefully you wont need it though if all goes according to plan. Braugh, you stick that axe directly in a Duergar's eye for me when you seek their destruction with my uncle."
He gives you all a firm handshake and sees you on your way.
. Braugh gets an Adamantine Handaxe for safekeeping. There are 3 more similar handaxes, but Redforge wants to keep those to be sent to informants on the main continent so that their origins can be traced.
On the Orcs you find enough that everyone gets 50gold each. You are also given: 5 Cure Light Wounds Potions
Just incase. ;)
These things fit nicely into your Handy Haversacks that the awesome DM gave to ya.
The first leg of the Journey is crossing the Bridge to get to the Coastline of The Scab. It's approximately 5miles from the Tavern.
FrootLoopAC16, Touch/Unarmored11, HP21/1 Wednesday November 10th, 2010 10:13:47 AM Methinks Braugh, you should take one of the healing draughts as well as me, one to Boomy and the rest to our spiritual leader. Tahni, you can have my split of the gold to go towards the keeping the crazy dwarf alive fund. Said with a smile on Frootloops' face. Boomy, I guess that's your name, unusual, but I like it. Well met my wise friend.
Frootloop adjusts his axe and pack to make the walk more comfortable, puts the healing draught in one of the side pockets, next to his new stabilizing cloth, and then waits for the others. Assuming whatever walking position whoever is the leader (assuming Braugh) decides[/b].

Sidequest:
In the morning, another Dwarf comes out of the Tavern to see you on your way. It is the de-armed one who's life was barely saved by Tahni. His nub is wrapped in cloth that needs to be changed as its bloody. The arm was kept, but without an experienced cleric or druid, it cannot be reattached.
He hands Tahni a necklace and says, "Miss Wyrmrider, I am Guy Baltar and I owe you my life. I was going to propose to a girl back in RiddlePort, but I'm afraid I wouldn't be a good husband if I were dead. Give this necklace to her. Her name is Tina Cloverdale, and she was worried sick when I told her I was going on patrol to this Tavern. Tell her I will be at this post for no more than two weeks, Domi willing. Also... can you judge how she takes the news of my condition? Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be a worthy husband given my crippled condition and I wouldn't blame her if she backed out of marrying me. Just... make sure she's ok ya know?"
And Frooloop, don't forget do update your HP for resting a night.
Boomy, feel free to change your character up if you don't like what I put for him. You can even change class if you wish.
Everyone also gets 200exp. Remember that a hero point gives you 30 times level in exp. So 30 for now.
And here is your SCAB MAP Your going to RiddlePort next
Bruagh Stormbringer AC 19/12/17, HP 13/13 Wednesday November 10th, 2010 3:39:37 PM
Bruagh lets out a hearty laugh, "But of course good Captain, but of course. Good luck to the lot of ya, keep this place safe."
Bruagh accepts one of the potions from FrootLoop. "Your words make sense friend, it'll be good to have you along."
Bruagh overhears the injured dwarf share his story with Tahni after he finishes speaking, he steps in. "Guy Baltar, you are a hero, were it not for your heroic actions and selfless sacrifice last night, many people would have lost their life. Here, take this." Bruagh hands Guy 10 gold pieces. "It's not much in light of your sacrifice, but keep this and use it either to buy your fiance a gift, or save it in case times get hard."
OOC: Ok, I updated my character sheet to the new Pathfinder one we are supposed to be using. One more question. Bruagh's Dwarven Axe, the Heirloom Weapon, while nice, will not ever be able to be Adamantine or even Mithril. No self respecting Dwarf would create a weapon to be his Legacy without it being one of those two metals. As such, may I switch the Heirloom weapon feat out for another and just take it at a later level when I can afford Adamantine, or will I be able to do something else? Also, how did I get volunteered to be the leader lol. If I had to pick a marching order, I'd say Me in front (AC) Followed by Boomy and Tahni, (keep the Caster safe in the middle with the grappler to keep things off of her) and FrootLoop bringing up the rear to prevent something from sneaking up on us. I'm open to suggestions though.
DM Addison: I like your original character sheet better... ANd yeah, you can definitely re-craft your Heirloom weapon later on (and just swap the feat out) when you gather materials and/or money. Hey... you have a chunk of adamantine hanging from your belt right now! But it takes more than one handaxe's worth. This is a good side quest for ya. ;)
Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 d20+6=10 ; Wednesday November 10th, 2010 8:51:13 PM OOC: Thanks DM. I think Tahni only earned 1 Hero Point, not 2. And I'm assuming you were serious when you ruled we lost a hero point for throwing ale on the floor to find a hidden enemy? Also, I was interested in the sword used to strike Bruagh in the tavern. You mentioned that the damage it dealt was partly necrotic. Assuming it does not have an evil aura, are we able to "confiscate"/claim that also? Or at least inspect it more closely?
"I'm glad to see you up and about, friend. I am sorry I could not do more to save your arm, but it warms my heart to see you so well so soon" Tahni responds to Guy with sincerity. " I will glady deliver this necklace and your message to your love, and make sure that word reaches you one way or another on her decision. For now though, you should be resting." Tahni takes the necklace, and tucks it safely in her pack. Appraise check on the necklace: 10. Though after rolling I'm guessing there will be time to Take 20 as we travel. I'm curious as to whether this is a piece of tin, a family heirloom, etc. A clue to its value - both monetary and sentimental - that may come in handy should Tina need some nudging
As they prepare to depart, Tahni takes a moment with the guards to say a prayer to keep them safe, and to gather any mail or messages they wish to convey to their colleagues in Riddleport. Tahni then joins the party as they depart the tavern, venturing forward into the Scab.
"I'll hold on to the "crazy dwarf" fund for now, Frootloop, but remember - that crazy dwarf saved my life twice the past day. The least I can do is see that he lives a bit longer to crack a few more orc skulls" she says with a chuckle.

Bruagh Stormbringer AC 19/12/17 -- CMD 16 -- HP 13/13 Wednesday November 10th, 2010 9:31:09 PM OOC: Ok, back to the original character sheet, but updated to make sure everything is completely up to date and ready to rock. I am at a loss for my feat, can't decide on: Skill Focus: Craft. If it applied to both Armor and Weapon I would take it but otherwise, not worth it. Alertness in case I decide to take the Protector PrC. Toughness, I'ma dwarf, enough said. Weapon Focus: Dwarven Axe, my die rolls need all the help they can get. Power Attack, opens up many combat feats. Shield Focus OR Dodge, adds to AC. Opinions, ideas, something I'm not seeing? Please give feedback.
DM Addison: As James Dietz said, only one feat, Craft Magic Arms and Armor, covers crafting weapons and armor. It would make sense to me if a Skill Focus feat did the same. But for your feat, I would suggest you think of three things: 1. Your chosen class of Paladin 2. Your role in the Party: having the highest AC 3. Your character role: Arms crafting.
What I did for my Paladin, Sir Arthur Cromwell, was try to max out the potential damage of Smite Evil. Smite Evil lasts until a battle is over and is only a swift action to declare. You can even have several Smites up at a time. What it does is add +Cha to AC AND to-hit. AND +Paladin level to damage (double Paladin level to Undead, Evil outsiders, and Evil Dragons). So, by looking at this, the best way to max out smite evil is to get as many attacks in one round as possible. Improved Shield bash+two-weapon fighting adds both AC and an extra attack (that is a smite). It wouldn't be worth it to fight with two weapons b/c your dex wouldnt be high enough for the greater TWF etc, so stopping at one is good. Also, ranged attacks work with smiting too. So Rapid Shot+ Multishot is two more smites per round. Boots of haste can add another attack and the Speed enhancement on a weapon could as well.
But these things are for later on in a character's career, as being able to hit is more important now (the -2 from twf hurts a lot)... so I would lean towards Weapon Focus.
Your second role in the party is Armor Class. So, anything that increases that helps. Also Weapon Focus is another 5% chance of hitting, worth it.
Tahni -- AC14/11/13 -- CMD 11 -- HP 11/11 Wednesday November 10th, 2010 10:13:44 PM OOC: Hey Bruagh. My 2c on your feats... I think there was a ruling recently in the rules board the Skill Focus (Craft) only provides a bonus to 1 craft skill. In your case, Armor or Weapons, but not both. Joining the WLA organisation (as found in the Woldipedia) before you reach level 11 will see you get the Toughness feat as a bonus too.
Boomy HP 11/11 AC 17/17/13 Thursday November 11th, 2010 8:46:03 AM
ooc: If you are referring to the conversation I am thinking of, it took place on the Pathfinder discussion board (I was the one asking the question about the former Woldian feat). The response was:
In the Wolds 3.5 incarnation there was a single crafting feat that took the place of every individual crafting feat.
Pathfinder has one feat named create magic arms and armor that allows you to create magic armor, shields, and weapons. I would assume this means that you create both from the saame feat.
One thing to note is that there is no feat for creating mundane items. I am not sure it that would be a regular skill check or an easier version of the craft magic item feat.
As for the skill checks, you can use what ever skill you feels applies. You could use a craft weapons and armor skill check, but if you are using the craft magic items feat I would suggest investing your skill points in Spellcraft because it the rules state you can use that for any of the create magic items feat dc checks and it would use less skill points than investing in seperate craft skills.

ooc: I am very busy this week as my wife is defending her PHD tomorrow. I'll think about changing my CS next week, but most likely I'll keep it as is.
Boomy graciously accepts the potion and thanks the Captain. We look forward to meeting your uncle and are glad we could be of service in dealing with the Duergar. Shaking his hand he leaves saying, May your sword taste the blood of your enemies before we meet again.
