Serillana gives the thumbs up symbol to the rest of the party, using simple signs to convey what she means.

Taking small steps and her precious time that she has, she starts to move off towards the cage hugging the rough edges of the cavern. Better to be unseen for the moment she thinks as she moves of cautiously towards the other side of the cavern, taking the longest possible route to avoid detection.

I'm so sorry guys, RL did indeed bite me on the ass last week. We had a tree fall at my house and it took them several days to restore internet and phone service, and we were packing up and moving office at work last week so I couldn't get online there either. In between all that was one of the busiest weeks I've had recently. I should be back to five times a week posting starting today (the monday post).

We are about to enter combat rounds; anybody who does not post on a given day will be skipped, and you might die if everybody's not pulling their weight!


Battle Map, Rd 1

After surveying the situation, our adventurers decide to try and maintain stealth for the time being; it appears to have worked so far; none of the enemies have reacted to your presence yet. although one of the prisoners appears to be looking at you.

The prisoner doesn't warn the others, so as to avoid commotion putting the enemies on alert.

"New Plan", Tishe' says to the gathered heroes after counting noses and only coming up with five. "I'm going to hit them with a confusion spell right now, and will follow up with a wall of fire to separate the humanoids from the prisoners."

"Falmar, Thar, and Snafu; you counter any attacks by the bullies."

"Serelina, go rescue the prisoners and bring them back here. We're going to have to stop the enemy before chancing the underwater passage. I bet they can all swim better than we can."

Tishe' waits until the others have sorted out the new plan, and then concentrates on her spell. Calming her mind, she weaves elements of stillness and silence together so she makes no sound or gesture to give themselves away. And then she wills thier minds to become confused!

The confusion spell takes the enemies gathered around the fire unaware. Several of them shake it off and turn to react to their attackers.

Lizardfolk Fighter 1 flees from Tishe'.
Lizardfolk Fighter 2 begins to run toward Tishe' to attack.

Tishe' is pleased to see some of the foe running in circles, but she knew not all would be wound in thier own threads. Holding aloft her Staff of Fire, she pretends she is a wizard and calls forth a Wall of Fire, cutting off the prisoners from the lizardfolk and fish-abominations! Further, only the side of the wall towards the prisoners is cool, the other side sends waves of heat toward the lizard and fish slavers.

Now that the fun's beginning, Thar summons Sal, a really angry fiendish shark into the water between him and the aboleth # 3... "That'll keep you busy" Thar says to the Aboleth, ordering the shark to viciously attack the enemy...

So it takes a round to cast, but he appears at the end of my round and acts immediately...

The invisible Snafu positioned himself to gain line of sight on the charging fighter (#2), while remaining close enough to Tishe to potentially catch the fighter unaware as he ran past. Once in position, Snafu began casting...

"RAPIDITĄ!" he called... and suddenly his allies felt faster.

-move forward just off to the side on the path the fighter is charging. Will try to get an AOO as he runs past.

Sitting high on a dark ledge in an even darker cavern, Moxy silently surveys her surroundings, noting that the water in the pool has begun to churn and move...She turns her head to the side and watches each ripple in eager anticipation of something emerging from the pool. Friend , Foe, food....something is moving about in the water...She knows that something is happening on the other side, and that something is important. Her master seems to feel it is...so she feels it may be too. Though they seldom agree on what is and isn't important, snacks, scratches, and and shiny things ranking at the top for her list, she knows that his survival is also fairly important...since he tends to have the snacks, provides the scratches, and takes her to places that have shiny things. She is also getting hungry, sitting alone in this dark dark cave....

After my whole post disappeared because I was flipping between 6 windows trying to reconstruct a fight I didn't start 2 weeks ago I am going to ask you guys to back up to where you surface in the cavern. I will redescribe The cavern and creatures to you and we can start over. I am unable to edit Dai's map, and have no mapping program myself so I will use description and ask you to describe your attacks and spells and how you want them to work. I will then apply them as if I were casting them myself giving you as much advantage as I can. Some of what was described to you previously was not the way the encounter was written, so please bear with me as I start it over for you.
Yes, Yanosh please continue posting. If you are going to be gone for long try and get in touch with someone to play your character. I realize you didn't have internet from what you say which could make that rough, do what you can in the future .

You surface in a cavern lit only by a few torches and a small cooking fire roughly 100 feet to the north of you. Where you emerge the cavern is about 15 feet wide and the water extends 25 feet into the cavern, getting shallower until it becomes dry rock. Where the water ends the cavern becomes 50 feet wide and about 20 feet high, floor to ceiling. It remains 50 feet wide until it reaches what looks like a solid back wall.
Along that back wall sit the workers you were sent after, huddled around the fire. They are worn, bedraggled and cold looking, each shackled to a ball that would surely drown them even on the short swim into this cavern. Next to them sit/crouch 2 ugly looking fishlike creatures( Aboleth 1 and 2). 20 feet closer to you are another 2 of these creatures(aboleth 3 and 4). Standing 10 feet from the water's edge are 4 lizardfolk, three armed with shields and spears and 1 holding a staff. Magic shimmers around them and they are obviously awaiting your emergence. Somehow they know you are here.

The staff wielder raises his hands and casts a lightning bolt directly into the water in front of you, electrifying the water( treated as a fireball for area)28 damage, Reflex save DC 16 for half damage . While the sorcerer completes his spell the cleric summons up some company among you. At the end of the round a single Fiendish crocodile appears and attacks Falamar, posibly sensing the Paladins goodness. The creature smites with this attack. Hit AC 18 damage 13. The fighters hold their ground, waiting to see what develops.

ooc: Got it, we're just coming out of the water.

Tishe' barely gets to suck in a sweet lungful of air when the water sizzles around her. Somehow, she manages to avoid some of the effect, but her skin still prickles.

"They know we are here!" shouts Tishe', all pretense of stealth gone. "Out of the water and spread out!"

Tishe' launches herself onto the cavern stones (move action) and throws an incantation to confuse the enemy. She looks but can't identify the fish-things, nor thier capabilities. "The sorcerer looks like it has some amphibian creatures helping it!"

Serillana jumps out of the water, easily twisitng and turning to avoid the the big bolt of thunder that came the party's way (Reflex 34 + evasion). [i]"Oh no.... Being ambushed is not very fun... But we have to try and get those builders out

Now that she can breath, Serillana takes everything in quickly and the first point of call is to get rid of the sorcerer. But first to get out out the water. Paddling to the edge of the west side of the pool of water, she gets out then starts to dance a partnerless waltz twisting and turning into the shadows of the cavern.

Snafu reacted instantly to the lightening bolt, jumping up and straight out of the water just long enough to avoid its effect (save; evasion).

"RAPIDITĄ!" Snafu called out as soon as he hit the water, and a white light spread from him to his companions (OOC: haste).

Snafu then moved forward in an effort to escape the water but stay out of the enemies reach.

Armor-less and shield-less Falmar emerges from the water, and immediately feels the teeth-jarring shock of electricity travel through his body (14 Damage) only to be struck upon what would be his shield arm by Teeth in the water. (current AC 15, 18 Damage).

Falmar turns and strikes at the leathery eating machine with his Scimitar. (1 - critical fail) As Falmar swings his Scimitar it makes the slightest contact with the water, causing the blade to skip, as a rock in a pond, over the maw of his toothy foe.

Need more practice fighting in water....at least in the planes you don't have to worry about these things....

Breaching the waters surface Yanosh looks around confussed just in time to realize the on coming attack. Moving swiftly Yanosh manages to avoid part of the damage. Seeing the attack on Falmar Yanosh swims to help his Packmate. Reaching Falmar Yanosh grabs the creature around its throat from behind.

Everyone, please adjust your ACs. I know some of you stripped off armor and I need to know your real AC right now, not what it was in your normal header. This round I rolled both crit and non crit damage for the attacks.

Tishe casts confusion, sowing discord among the Lizardfolk
Serillana gets to dry land and hides, movig to the (left?) to skirt the pack of lizardfolk. ( I think you had it right the first time. The water is an alcove 15' wide that lets into a room 50' wide and 100' deep

Yanosh reaches out and grabs the Crocodile. The beast snaps at the cleric, barely missing Yanosh ( AoO misses) He manages to grapple the Gator, next round he can pin it.

The Lizardfolk react to the invaders. One fighter tries to flee only to be stopped by the cleric with a word and a prayer. The sorcerer spots the troublemaker in the invaders group and shoots her with an arcane barrage. The second fighter, confused but still responsive charges Tishe for her spellcasting and deals her a telling blow with it's spear. Serillana escapes the water and hides, thinking to flank or get to the prisoners. On the ball, the cleric spots her and and calls an alarm.

Note. the wold rules on grapple have disappeared with the pathfinder conversion. Target to beat for grapple success is the take 10 number of the defender. For the Crocodile that is 16. For Yanosh I calculated it as 27 based on your roll.

"Shoot, not good. Spotted and can't see straight enough to strike them..." Serillana thinks as she hears the call and sees the blur. "I don't think it is the right time to hide...

Serillana pulls out her sling and 3 normal bullets and fires them in quick succession at the sorcerer, thinking that he would be the one that could dish the majority of the damage. With a triple pirouette with unnatural speed, Serillana looses her three bullets at where she thinks the sorcerer is, each hitting with a solid thud.

Each time she spins, she spots using the enemy closest to her, making sure that he doesn't come after her next.

One of Tishe's best spells affects only 2 of the 4 lizardfolk, and THIER reaction is the worst possible result! Charged by an angry lizard warrior, the witch's barkskin barely saves her from a terrible wound, and the follow up magic missles aren't any party either. Bleeding and battered, Tishe' takes a step backwards to collect her equalibrium before trying a second assault.

Sticking her hand in her Pants o Plenty, the witch pulls out a small bag. From the bag, she pulls a small ball of fuzz that she tosses on the ground in front of the spear-wielding lizardman. The ball of fuzz instantly grows to become a Warhorse that attacks the hapless lizardman.

The warhorse rears and smashes two heavy hooves at the lizardman before trying to bite it with sharp teeth.

No we are in 3.5 for this combat. After this fight we are into Pathfinder, because that's the way the NPC's are made 8). Serillana I am sorry, you were not spotted, Critical success does not matte for skills like I thought it did. Although it works out since you'd have snuck into the other rogue. Also, not reading when I should have, I shouldn't have hit Falamar with the Croc, unless you are willing to buy that it did indeed smell the good on him, since he was invisible. I will make that up to you, sorry for the goof ups.
IC
Serillana begins a whirling dance flicking sling bullets at the spell caster. Her aim is true three times and she realizes that all she needs to do seems to be to squint a little as she fires to be able to hit his blurry form. As she spins she keeps her eyes open for trouble and sees it sneaking up on the group in the form of two very sneaky lizardfolk. One is 20' from her at the end of the round, sneaking along the wall she is hugging. The other is coming up behind Thar on the other side of the alcove.Neither one seems to notice they have been spotted.
Tishe Narrowly avoids being impaled on the warriors spear. Stepping away from the lizardman she throws down a ball of fur from her bag of tricks that promptly becomes a warhorse, blocking the fighter from reaching her and savaging it with its hooves.
Yanosh pins the croc the Croc, smashing it twice with his magically hasted fist.Hit AC 28 and 17 for 1 and 3 ( I don't have a sheet link and don't know your strength mod) I'll roll your extra attacks this round but start taking care of it. Read Grappling in the 3.5 PHB pg 156 for info on grapples.
Snafu decides he doesn't have enough critters on his side and calls for help. At the end of the round 2 Lantern Archons answer his call( what did you want them to do? Summoned creatures may act on the round they arrive as I read it)
Thar casts Holy Smite on the group of Lizarcfolk, This spell lands and the Lizardfolk must try and resist it. The light goes out of ALL of their eyes as the holy power temporarily blinds them.( nice shot)
Falamar casts lightning bolt at the Sorcerer, only to see the spell wink out of existence 10' from the lizardman.

Blinded, the Lizardfolk fighter in front of the horse becomes enraged and attacks the horse twice, missing both times due to his blindness.
The second fighter, the one that got about 20' away last round before the Protection from evil halted his flight, would flee again this round were it not for the protection. Turning, he rushes toward Thar to engage him in Melee, at least, that was his plan before he was struck blind. Not knowing which way is which, he stands still, rubbing vainly at his eyes.
The Cleric, blinded as well, curses in Aquan as he hears the stones impacting the Sorcerer. Standing his ground he throws a counter to the Holy Smite of his opponents and Unholy Blights the area before him ( He drops it at the edge of the water, dead center to the alcove. It will touch all of the PCs. 26 damage, DC 17 Will save for half damage, those not saving are sickened for 2 rounds, the Archons will take 29 damage and can save for half, which should kill them although they will gain the circle's bonus, as will Thar, Serillana, Tishe, Falamar and Snafu. Sorry Yanosh I think you are the only one that hasn't moved far enough toward land to be in the circle.
The sorcerer, unable to target without seeing and unwilling to lightningbolt his friends holds his action, waiting for his vision to clear.

Tishe' breathes a sigh of relief before the cleric's spell attacks her. She pushes that darkness away with her mind, but is completely drained by the effort, and stands tottering on her legs. (Will Save 28, 13 damage, Disabled)

Numbly, the plain-faced woman thinks about continuing the fight, and uses her arcane knowledge to heal herself of some of her wounds. (Standard Action: Cure Moderate Wounds 19 hit points)

The warhorse, not being good, is only partially lashed by the Unholy Blight and continues to pound the lizard-warrior before him, but misses horribly. AC 8, 7, 5

"Who cut the ogre cheese?" Snafu said jokingly, as he managed to keep the contents of his stomach in its rightful place. Unfortunately, his Archons were not so lucky (OOC- save 21; Acrhons unsucessful- 12 and 13).

Pausing for a moment to study the effect of the disappearing lightning bolt (Knowledge Arcana- 29; Spellcracft- 27), Snafu then started chanting...

Thar feels the effect of the blight (Will = 25) but stubbornly resists most of it (13 dmg)

Thar sees that he's the target of a very angry and blind fighter, and he's in no mood to tangle with it. "Thanks Snafu" he yells out, then casts Summon Monster 4 to bring in some help. He'll cast the spell so the creature appears right in front of him (his location after his move action).

He'll back up and move towards the wall to change locations and hopefully get some cover ... Then Larry will appear between him and the fighter (or whoever else decides to attack him)

Falmar is shaken by the Dark miasma suddenly around him, but his mind is filled with the scent of heat scorched grasses blowing patterns as a flowing sea and he recovers quickly.

Falmar moves directly to the Sorcerer in his hasted state and strikes quickly with two strikes. (Mods shoudl have been +22 with scimitar +haste 17 is my base) easily judging the sorcerer's location he punishes the cold blooded fiend ( 25 Damage )

Feeling the unholy blight The Cleric of Gargul glares at the evil cleric. Seeing Tishe in danger of falling and the rest of his Pack in need the cleric releases the croc and casts mass cure light wounds. Yanosh hopes that he is close enough for the spell to reach Tishe'. Drawing his Holy War Axe in a flash the Warrior/Priest turns back to finish the croc.

Something you guys might find useful when making you pathfinder sheets is to copy/past things like feats and abilities from the SRD right into the box on your character sheet. This takes up a bit more space, but it puts the feat/ability right on your sheet so that you don't need to go look it up. Something else, The Toughness feat is kinda misunderstood. The net effect of both of these ways of writing it up are the same, unless you are level 1-3 or end up losing levels through undead or enervation. How it SHOULD be written up is you get 3 hit points at 1st level, nothing at 2nd, nothing at 3rd and 1 hp per level after 3rd. The way I see alot of people write it up is 1 hp per level...which is the same net effect but not really correct.

Tishe On shaky legs manages to cast a healing spell and save herself from passing out.

Serillana Calls tho Thar alerting him to his stalker. She then hides in plain sight and turns to hunt the Lizardman hunting her.

Snafu casts Vampric Touch and swings at the warrior attacking the Warhorse. Unfortunately the blur spell save the warrior from the glowing touch. The spell remains active for another attempt next round. Remember 1-20% is a miss, 21%-100% is a hit.

Thar Summons Larry the lion, who upon being summoned first looks at the fighter 20' away, then turns and POUNCES on the hidden rogue Serillana warned Thar about. Crit AC 27 confirmed for 17 points of damage, the bite hits AC 20 for 8 points of damage and it establishes a hold on the rogue, raking it for 3 more damage. 28 damage total.

Falamar charges the sorcerer and swings once, cutting past the illusion blurring the sorcerer's form. The blade sinks deep and the sorcerer slumps to the ground. Hearing the paladin coming the cleric, standing next to the sorcerer, blindly lashes out at Falamar striking him once ( AoO hits AC 19 and confirms hit past the blindness effect for 8 damage.

Yanosh releases the Croc and seeing his friends in trouble takes a step away from the croc and closer to his friends and heals them all Mass CLW for 11 healing to all party members ( you should all be in range)

Fighter 1 continues to attack the warhorse( attack nearest target), with his sight restored he is far more effective. both attacks hit the horse causing 24 damage. It then steps toward Tishe, blood in it's eyes.

Fighter 2 would have pounced on the cleric since it was a little closer than Falamar, but thanks to the Protection from Evil spell he charges Falamar instead. Hit AC 31 for 10 damage.

The cleric casts defensively and reaching down, heals the sorcerer for 18 healing.

The sorcerer, standing back up, backs away from Falamar, putting the cleric between them. ( Falamar gets an AoO on the sorcerer as it stands up)

Rogue 1 near Serillana blinks in surprise as his target disappears.

Rogue 2 locked in combat with the Lion strikes back. He hits once but the lion's DR deflects the attack.

The Croc swims after and attacks Yanosh with its tail. AC 19 misses.

Tishe' sighs in relief as her and Yanosh's magics bring some vitality back into her muscles. The lizardfolk before her has slain her animal from her Bag of Tricks, but that was only a delaying tactic anyways. Besides, the lizardfolk looks quite hurt...

The witch stands her ground, defensively casting a spell learned from her Spellweaver studies, and striking at the lizardfolk with three fiery rays. One slides by the blur effect, but two strike the wounded lizardman in the chest!

If the lizardman is still standing, Tishe' backpedals to get some mutual defense with Thar and Snafu.

Snafu reaches out and touches the fighter menacing Tishe. The lizardman is enveloped in a cloak of vampiric energy and loses some vitality to Snafu. Fighter 2 loses 14 hp.

Tishe fires three fiery beams at her attacker, hitting twice and scorching the lizardman's hide. Fighter 2 takes 23 more damage.

Falamar launches a series of attacks at the cleric, hitting once and slicing the cleric open, he does not look amused Cleric 1 takes 14 damage.

In a burst of movement from the shadows, Serillana launches three surprise attacks on the rogue hunting her. With a startled look on its face the lizardman slumps to the ground.

Threading his way through the melee Thar comes up behind Falamar and eases the pain of his wounds, healing 21 hp of damage. Larry the lion continues to munch on the second rogue causing 18 more damage and ending the rogue's life.

Yanosh swings twice at the fiendish croc, connecting and sending it back to he nether plane it was called from. The Croc is dead and disappears.

The lizardmen first the ambushers, now have their backs to the wall.

Due to the confusion, Fighter 1 ignores Snafu and instead steps past him to attack Tishe, the caster of this maddening spell. He scores one solid hit with his spear hit AC 29 for 12 damage.

Fighter 2 now wades in and attacks Thar, trying to make him leave the cleric alone . He scores a solid hit as well hit AC 34 for 9 damage.

At a word from the Sorcerer, the cleric launches a series of blows at Falamar, hitting the unarmored man once for 9 damage.

The sorcerer, able to see Serillana for the first time points at her and launches a volley of magic missiles at her for 13 points of damage.

Seeing their bodyguards being beaten, the Abloth slide into action. The two closest to the combat, spread to opposite sides of the 50' room, so as not to be close for AoE spells, the Two in back move over to the side of the prisoners, so as to have a position of power over them in case negotiations need to be made.

Another spear thrust to the side, and Tishe' feels it is time to stop being a target, but she is torn by the movement of the monsters towards the prisoners. And that is what packmates are for!

"Snafu, keep this lizard-guy from cutting my thread while I weave a warm welcome for those fish monsters over there!"

Taking a step backwards, the witch raises her staff and makes the magical device belief she is actually a wizard, setting into place a Wall of Fire that surrounds the cage of prisoners. What is more, the wall is cool inside its circumfrence, but burns hotly out towards any who will approach the wall!

Thar would prefer to keep healing, but for now, he's got a Fighter in his face.

1. Larry sees that Thar could use some help, and since his own rogue is dead, turns and pounces upon Fighter 2, biting at his exposed flank... (can't see map but my plan was to somehow flank the fighter...)

Bite = 24 (nat'l 20... Critical Check = 11... Nope... So does 6 pts of dmg...

Since its bite hit, the lion will (free action, no AoO) try to grapple with the fighter, preventing him from attacking anyone else... He has the ability that if he hits with a bite, he can start a grapple without AoO...

Grapple Check = +3 (BAB)+5 (str)+4 (imp grapple feat)+4 (size) = +16 = 26 Grapple Check vs. Opponents DC...If that wins, he gets to rake the enemy while holding him - Miss AC 16 and 12...

SO... He does 6 pts of dmg AND has his opponent grappled (assuming he hits the DC)

2. Since Thar can't fire on Larry and the fighter without hitting one or the other, he'll take a 5' step back and fire off 3 shots at the sorcerer (Full round action since only took 5' step...)

Falamar destroys the cleric, beating him until he falls prone and unmoving.

Yanosh charges at the nearest of the Aboleth and attacks it with his waraxe ( you wouldn't reach it without charging, and if you charged wouldn't be able to cast. Either way it sounds like you want to be in its face hurting it so I compromised.)his swing lands and hurts the Aboleth Hit AC26 for 11 points. As he charges though the creature attacks while Yanosh moves through its threatened squares. The cleric is hit as he move in to attacks for 9 damage. Slime also coats the Dwarf DC 19 Fort save please.

Tishe places a wall of fire protectively around the captives, making both the Aboleth and the prisoners shriek. One group in pain the other in surprise. Both Aboleth are burned, one worse than the other.

Serillanna moves back to the wall and hides, disappearing from view

Larry the lion dives on the other Lizardman fighter and tackles him doing minor damage with his bite but holding the fighter down. Thar on the other hand steps back and fires three arrows at the sorcerer. The last barely passes through the blur and hits the mage for 11 damage. He staggers, but keeps his feet.

Snafu reaches out and Paralyzes the fighter. Both the fighter and the Sorcerer are not sickened though.

The two Aboleth near Tishe's Wall of fire move away from the prisoners and the flaming wall. One of them calls out in Aquan " retreat to us!"
At this call the lizardman sorcerer turns and runs, closing on Yanosh and the two Aboleth nearest him. He makes a few gestures and points at Yanosh Hold Person DC 16 will save Yanosh.
Then several things happen all at once. A huge fissure splits the room directly behind Yanosh.The fissure is 10 feet wide and appears to be about 25 feet deep. Serillana pplease make a reflex save DC 15. If you make it pick one side or the other to spring to, otherwise you fall in. Yanosh also feels the urge in his mind to submit to the will of the Aboleth 3 DC 17 will saves Yanosh. If failed the effect is the same as Dominate person.
The rest of you hear, in Aquan and Undercommon, " We have several of yours, you have one of ours. Let us ttrade. You give us our pet and we will tell you what you wish to know as well as return your people. Then you will let us go our way. Do you find this acceptable?"

Thar listens to the Aboleth's offer and ponders it for a moment. Looking at his companions, he says, "Our goal here is to rescue the prisoners, not kill off these vermin. I'm all for destroying them but if we have a chance to free them..."

To his friends, he whispers harshly, "Guys, lets search these dead ones quickly why we talk... Grab all you can since we may have to go soon..."

Unless anyone objects, he says to the aboleth, "I'm intrigued by your offer and it seems reasonable. We have a few questions to clarify it however. Who is the pet you refer to that we supposedly have? I just want to make sure we're speaking the same terminology..."

"I think the fish-monsters are the ones weaving on this loom", says Tishe' to her packmates. "The lizardfolk don't normally speak Aquan. They must be slaves to the fish-monsters. They are as much the victims as our people." Her brown eyes smoulder dangerously, hating slavers and bullies on sight, no matter what they look like.

But Thar has a point; they need to rescue thier people first. Tishe' would rather bargain from a position of strength, and so she casts a spell learned on the desert plains of the Sargrass, filling the chasm with thorny brambles!

"On oour honor, we will not attack until we are done speaking. If we come to a bargain, we will honor that bargain." Tishe' waits for her words to sink in.

"Now, we control the destinies of the humans in the cage. We also control the one lizardfolk. What other prisoners are you speaking about?"

Serillana Avoids the chasm and tumbles to the darkness nearest the bad guys. DC18 will save please.

Yanosh's body goes rigid as the Hold Person spell from the sorcerer takes hold. You get another will save this round, DC16 to break the effect. This is a full round action.

Thar open negotiations with the Aboleth and suggests searching the dead while doing so.

Tishe throws a wall of thorn into the chasm and participates in the negotiations.

Snafu snatches the fighters weapon(move) and casts Mirror image on himself (standard)

All of the Aboleth move closer to Yanosh, not quite surrounding him, yet. one stands apart and speaks to you in a watery voice, now in Common. " We control sssseveral..." A throaty, bubbling, chuckle issues from his throat as he raises a tentacle, gesturing back towards the workers. " We hold them for the small one who buys them. It was lucky for us really that we came across them down here where we are stronger than they. We also now hold thissss one..." A tentacle is waved in Yanosh's direction. His body held rigid by our sorcerous pet's magic his mind soon to be held by our own." I made Yanosh's other 2 will saves for last round, so far his mind is his own, but only he knows that since he cannot speak. Yanosh please make 4 more will saves DC 17 vs the Aboleth's Domination. " The pet of which we speak is of course the lizard man. Why are you, and those others in our underground realm? Normally we only find ones like these lizard folk to enslave to our will and sell to the small man. What he really desiressss is surface dwellers like those behind ussss.... Tell us why you are here so that we may ....avoid this type of unpleasantnesssss in the future. Then we will exchange captivessss and go our sssseparate waysss... Be assured this was not personall....just businesssss...."

All of the long 's' sounds come across as a disturbing bubbling sound that gets under you skin almost instantly. You are reminded of a slippery shady business man as you listen to the creature's tale unfold.

The sorcerer moves to the back of the cave and lifts a small box from the floor that none of you had seen due to the darkness until he picked it up. He begins fiddling with the catch.

The fighter stands paralyzed and stinks like a ghast.

Serillana feeling that something is trying in invade her head decides (will 28 pass) it might be the best to stay put, hidden and ever watching, hoping that Yanosh will be fine after this ordeal.
You realize that the chasm is not really there. You SHOULD have fallen in it, but scrambled away because you could step where the chasm was. to your sight there is now a wall of thorns between you and Yanosh and the rest of the group.

Tishe' also sets herself ready to counter any actions, and still continues to speak with the Aboleths. Thier seedy dealing makes her feel like she is going to need to take a bath afterwards, but the safety of the common person is more important .... right now.

Standing still a smile slowly crosses the Dwarven Clerics face. The evil look that enters Yanosh's eyes shows that he now has full control of his body. Yanosh waits for an opening and any kind of signal from Tishe and he will turn his Holy War Axe against the fishfolk and turn them all into fish chunks.

(OoC Barely failed one roll for domination all other passed with a large margin. I'll let the DM decide the final results.)

As the continue negotiations, Thar will slowly move to get as many allies as possible within his spells (Magic Circle vs. Evil) 10' radius, to help prevent the domination by aboleths....

Adding to Tishe's comments, he says, "Yes, tell us about this little man. He sounds like the one we're really interested in, and as you said, this is business, not personal. And as she said, give us our friends and the prisoners back and we let you live..."

Serillana remains hidden, looking for an opening to help Yanosh

Falmar yells at the Sorcerer but otherwise does not escalate the encounter

Tishe prepares to counter any further Aboleth magic, and continues to negotiate

Snafu Readies an action to cast enervate. He is sure that they are stalling. He moves up to the chasm with the Wall of Thorns at the bottom and stops. Will save DC 23 please. Note this is not an attack against you.

Yanosh throws off the sorcerer's hold person spell and is immediately assaulted by voices in his head telling him what to do. He fails to defeat them all and one voice holds sway over his mind...for now.

Thar Manages to gather Tishe,Flamar and Snafu under his Protection circle. Where is that Serillana anyway?

" Slavissss, stop fiddling with the box and bring it here You are making the two leggers nervoussss and they are setting up to hurt you." Looking back at the group and addressing them again the Aboleth continues, It is simply a box with potions and a few other items in it. As he is quite battered he just wanted to heal himself. But, sssince we are all playing niccce why don't you heal him Mr. cleric." The Aboleth seems to be looking at Yanosh and to your surprise the Dwarf turns to the lizard man and casts a healing spell on him. Yanosh please remove a 3rd level spell of your choice." Now you wanted the prisoners released.....sssseemsss I can't get to them to loose their chainsss. I'll give your man here the keyssss and he can go over and do it. If you want to drop the wall that'd probably be best for him I think. Your call. Sssoooo, you don't know about the small man?" Another of those watery chuckles." Forgive me, that means that this is all coincidenccce. You would not even have come down here had we not taken the diggers. Alas in hindsight we would have been better off had we not it sssseemsss. We take any and all unwary folk that happen down in our tunnels. The small man comes each month and buys them from ussss. What he does with them after that is unknown to usss. This cave is near the surface, so we meet him here. Oh how he hates getting wet. The small man is due to arrive sssometime tomorrow. If you would like to wait for him here you can be our guest. The fire is already lit and with your leave, and your removal of that pesky thorn wall, we would take our leave. Unlessss there is something elssse?" The creature looks expecantly at you.

Tishe' considers and nods. She knows a mind control spell when she sees one, and realizes that even with the magical walls, her packmates position is not as strong as all that.

"Give the key to the dwarf and have him stand alone, halfway between you and me. I will then lower the wall and allow you and the lizardfolk to leave. What we both do with tomorrow is our own affair."

Tishe' is as good as her word, and will dismiss the Wall of Thorns once Yanosh is away from the tentacles of the Aboleth.

She whispers to her packmates of another plan. "If the fish-monsters try and walk Yanosh into the Wall of Fire, I will have to dismiss the fire wall, but that is your cue to attack and end thier slimey lives."
