"1) Offer for Jeb and Molly to settle here. We'll provide them some land and protection and they provide us some foodstuffs grown. If they decline, we organize an escort to thier farm.
2) Purchase a messenger to send a report of what we have found to the Pitchfork Council. That way, we get our side of the story in, and if we are captured, the Council knows what we were intending.
3) Do a scout of Silas' Roadhouse. We get close and camp and then just a couple people go in. That way, if we are discovered, they don't know our whole strength and there is reinforcements. Also, some of us are better at gathering information and looking unobtrusive than others."
"I'm thinking Snafu should stay at the base camp with Falmar and Yanosh. Serillana can be an entertainer, Thar and Tishe' a mercenary team with Moxy as my familiar. Snafu needs to come in for a drink and then leave to go back to the campsite. That way, if we need immediate reinforcement, Moxy can alert Falmar and Snafu teleports in."

OOC Leon I'll email you. Josh you are done, what you sent me looked fine. Everyone else that has not leveled and purchased gear please do so BEFORE you go any further. I will let you know this much. I created Sharon just like I would create a PC. She is not going to be an easy fight unless she blows some saves early on. That said I want you all in full gear and ready to go before tackling her, even just to talk to her. I believe that Cayzle is helping Edd figure out his character problems. I handed that over to him when I couldn't find any way to be more clear about what I needed done. I don't have an ETA on that so I would not expect him to be part of your plan. Your recon plan sounds promising. Finish your updates, refine it if need be ( I think there will be more teleports available to you) and we will move forward.
In Character Jeb and his kin look puzzled and kind of embarrassed to be asked to stay with you. " I think we ought to head to our own land and set up our farm there. The same day you speak to Jeb, an unexpected group of visitors shows up to pay a social call while they are on the road. Almar Blackhand has stopped by on his patrol of the area. The Mailed Fist is serving out the last month of it's contract with the Valley while the Keep is finished for you. He is riding with only one other bowman. He explains that with these smaller patrols have stopped the disappearances. It seems that their weaker presence but greater frequency has deterred the kidnapper. If asked he will be glad to take a message from you to Dulcet. He knows that the council only meets every so often and if you want anything done when it is not convened you need to go through Dulcet.

Snafu was relieved to hear that the kidnappings had ceased. He was also happy to hear that they'd have a second opportunity and Harlan in just three days.
"Is there any way to get a visual of this roadhouse?" Snafu asked. "I've never been there before but if I gained some familiarity I could teleport us directly there. It would save us some time and allow us to scout out the area."

Tishe' is certain that they will have to walk to Silas' Roadhouse, and that's what she tells her friends. "It will give us an opportunity to learn more about this Cinamon Valley that we are living in and the people too."
Tishe' does want to have an opportunity to use her ley line for a special Witch ritual to help prepare her for the coming fray. If she has the time, she causes her cauldron to grow, and in a magical rite, she slices her skin, causing it to grow scabberous and flakey. She also takes a glass dagger and amputates her nose, throwing it into the cauldron and casting her spells.
In but a day, her nose grows back, but the results are deformed. Her skin continues to peel in ugly flakey scabs. But her Self Sacrifice has its benefits: she is more graceful and hardier through a closer bond to the Sargrass Power.

He reaches into his belt pouch and pulls from it a sheathed dagger. When he pulls the blade from the sheath you see it is some type of ceremonial knife. It appears long, wickedly sharp and to be made from silver. " I took this blade from my clan when I left it. It is used to seal the past. If an old warlord was removed from authority his heart was removed by this blade after his death. I want to use it for a similar but more positive reason. When you find this slaver I assume you will finish them so that you too can be sure the snatchings are over. Use this blade for it's intended purpose. Remove the slaver's heart and burn it, then bury the blade. In that way I can be part of solving this rash of kidnappings, even if it is a small part, in absentia. Snafu's joyous mood evaporated like water in a hot desert when he saw Tishe go to work on her face. While she worked he couldn't help but reach up and touch his own face, just to make sure everything was still there.
He then listened to Almar's tale about removing slavers hearts... This crowd really knows how to spoil a mood Snafu mumbled to Hoot as he considered the offer to take the dagger. Cutting out hearts sounds like dirty work. Not sure I'm the man for the job, Hoot. Yes... yes... Tishe seems like the perfect candidate for the job."

I looked over your character sheet and missed asking you alot before now. These are easy to fix though. First you don't have enough feats. Pathfinder lets you earn a feat every other level, and you are 2 feats behind it looks like. second, what bloodline sorcerer are you? bloodline is where your innate casting ability comes from. i saw no reference to it on your sheet. it will give you a couple more spells and a few feats and abilities. Lasy, just go over your sheet. The math looks fine but in some places you have a +3 ring, others a +4. In one place your headband offers uneven bonuses which can't happen, but the stat math at the top of the sheet looks right. Just proofread it for typos. I'm sorry I missed these things when you converted.

Thar sees Tishe' perform her self-surgery and holds in the contents of his stomach. When she's done, he says without looking at her face, "Hey... um... if you need me to heal any of those scars.... I will... but only if you want me to..."
When they talk about removing a man's heart, he's not the first to volunteer, but does understand why Almar cares so strongly about being involved in stopping the slaver...
When the rest of the group is ready to go, he'll saddle his horse and take point, watching for dangers, scouting, etc...
(OOC - Thar's updates are done...) DM David Natural armor is not part of Touch AC Also add in your gear costs when you can. It makes it easier to total when someone asks you how much wealth you have. Otherwise you are good to go.

Tishe' is still feeling the abilities she has achieved and her closer association with the Sargrass Power. She therefore doesn't notice the looks of consternation her packmates are giving her. "Please dont", she tells Thar, "for if the scars are removed, so is the spells that are locked into place. Besides, what I have wrought will make me blend in better in the dark side of society that we will soon be infiltrating."
The Witch turns to the half-orc, matching determination with determination, and takes the dagger. "I will prefer to bring the slave master back to public justice so all the Valley may see the villain. Yet if that is not possible, I promise that this is the dagger that will cut the heart out of the evil slave ring that is causing the disapperances." If that partial promise is enough, Tishe' will keep the dagger, if not, she hands it back to Almar.
With a map on where to go, Tishe' asks Thar to lead them to a woods a mile or two from Silar's Roadhouse to make camp. From there, the Cinnamon Warders will break into four groups; Yanosh and Falmar keeps the campsite. Thar and Tishe' (and Moxy) arrive together as a mercenary team and grabs a table for dinner and a drink or two. Serallina and Snafu come in together for Serallina look for entertainment opportunities; Snafu to look in and ride on (returning back to the campsite).
From there, perhaps there will be more information..

" Fair enough. but your own investigation and the surmising of the coven all point to there being a good bit of magic to the disappearances. don't let the fiend slip away. Dirty justice is better than no justice." If told about the roadhouse he frowns." I have been there, on patrol. The place made my flesh crawl. No one there was incapable of murder. Two patrons were knifed while I was in the room, and that was scarcely long enough to consume a questionable stew. Guard yourselves there, and do not fight unless it is forced upon you. You will have no friends but yourselves while in there." The trip is uneventful. You arrive and are able to conduct your recon the day before the meeting is to happen. The Roadhouse is little more than an oversized barn. Dirt floor, drafty walls, open floor plan below and a loft that may or may not be divided above. The place is filthy. It smells like dirty animals have been in here while wet and left their stink behind. Harlan was well dressed and clean. You doubt this was his choice of meeting place. You look around, but given little description of Sharon, you probably wouldn't know her if she were drinking right next to you. The patrons, dirty and ill kempt like the establishment allow you in and up to the bar. You feel eyes crawl all over you, as if sizing you for a hole already dug out back. The barman is one eyed, human, you think and slightly cleaner than the bar. Slightly meaning his shirt was probably grey when first worn rather than grey with dirt from working the bar. He polishes a glass as you step up and fixes you with that single cold eye. " Wat'd'ya have?" Is all he says in the way of introduction.

Sitting at the camp with stoic Yanosh, Falmar watches among the trees, and listens as Moxy tells him how wonderful the place they are in is. The smells, reminiscent of recently dead things, and the spilled bits of mostly raw meat she spies among the threshes on the floor. Men with sparklies in their ears and faces.... She could just peck them out of there, they don't belong there anyway... This person she's riding moves much more smoothly...than you....and he has better looking ears ! and he gives her better treats..
Falmar thinks back to his training and realizes that he cannot recall if familiars could lie to their companion.... greedy little...
Shaking off Magical Avian appetites Falmar focuses his energy on Sargrass and concentrates upon the woven symbol around his neck. As he prays, the symbol begins to softly glow...and slowly fade. When the glow has faded completely he softly shakes a small scattering of seeds free, which he scatters around the campsite.

She makes sure that she has her sling carefully concealed on her body (Sleight of Hand 24), in an easy to reach place in case that something comes up, her dagger set in her scabbard so that people know that she means business and that she isn't just a little pretty girl.
Serillana jumps up onto one of the stools on the bar and replies to the barman and replies sweetly "I'll have a mug of ale, if that isn't too much trouble."[b] And she drops a couple copper onto the table. As she waits for the order to go through, she takes a quick look around the establishment, looking around for quick exits if the time some for it. (Perception 32)
When the drink comes back, Serillana takes a small sip and starts trying to get the barman to let her perform in here. [b]"I'm just a wandering performer, well versed in dance, acrobatics and some basic troupe skills. I'm just wondering if I can perform in here to get a few copper for my next drink? I'll give you a share of the money that I earn, say 20% with a minimum of a silver if I don't make the money...." Serillana says as sweetly as possible, trying to use her girlish charms to let get where she wants to be.

He gets a table for Tishe', Moxie and him, and orders some of what passes as drinkable ale. He sits in a corner somewhere, growls here and there, trying to look pi$$ed off at everything and nothing, and merely watches and listens to those around him... (Perc = 35, Sense Motive (of those around him, aside from their normal bloodthirsty attitudes) = 20)

Tishe', with Moxy on her shoulder, casts Unseen Servant before going into Silas' Roadhouse. The Witch stares right back at everyone, waiting for her Servant to wipe off a spot at the bar and Thar to arrive with the drinks. Before dinking, she stares suspiciously at the brew and casts Detect Poison before taking a mouthful of the vile stuff.
Broodingly, she absently scratches at her skin, causing some to fall off, and stares at the others in the room around her disfigured nose. "Food!" she tells the barman and waits for whatever is put before her.
Tishe' ignores the food and talks to the barman. "You seen a foppish halfling around? Rich idiot said he had a job here."

OOC For Falmar, this has nothing to do with the Inn and I'll make a regular post after Snafu's post tonight. IC When the glow fades from Falmar's holy symbol he feels a strange tickle at the back of his mindHe has felt it before. Whenever he felt alone or beset by the world around him, such a feeling would creep into the back of his mind. His Paladin training has taught him to ignore battle nerves like that, ignore the fear in them at least. The edge they impart is with him though. He stands, back to the fire and scan the darkness, looking for the source of his trepidation. Perhaps 100 feet away he sees the shadow of what set his senses off. As soon as his eyes rest on the form he feels its eyes lock on his as well. Instant, almost electric communication occurs and he feels a tiny sliver of his soul stripped away, to be replaced by a similar sliver from the creature in the dark. A long moment passes and then with a rush the creature begins hopping and bounding toward Falmar. It stops just short of the Paladin and lowers its head to look the Paladin in the eye. The Bounder wear a strange saddle that looks as if it would keep the paladin securely on its back through even the most vigorous ride. As Falmar reaches out and touches the creature he again feels that electric jolt. He is a part of this mount now, and it is a part of him. He knows that no matter the distance it will hear his call and come to him. It will even die for him if it comes to that. OOC I will send you a write up and a template for your mount Falmar. As I understand it these are rare or not around anymore due to the destruction of the Sargrass plains. Replacing it may be difficult. Congratulations.

As Falmar places his hand upon his new companion he feels their bond grow. They are truly Weft and Web, one and the same, inseparable. He slowly runs his hand along the curiously constructed saddle. Woven of primarily steelgrass, tendrils of other varieties compliment the weave and allow for flexibility that steelgrass would not permit alone. Could this be Manfri work? Falmar quietly repeats the mantra 'Talki Fresal, Dondit Liki', The Land my Life, as he eases himself into the saddle. Absorbed in his own world for the time being, Falmar fails to remember that he's here with a mission. He gently nudges forward and is immediately assaulted with a neck snapping upward bound. Reeling from the initial shock, the pair manage to rapidly circle the camp while dodging around trees and avoiding most of the low hanging branches...most... As they come to a stop, a pink fleshy tongue darts forth and snags a small black bird from a branch, and faster than thought a bony crunching sound echos ominously throughout the camp.... This could be a problem...have to set up forbidden things to eat....black birds, owls, toads...no he's a pot now....dwarves, halflings,...

Snafu followed Tishe's plan with one exception; he studied the area carefully in case he needed to teleport back hastily.
If things go bad for my friends in there, the calvary will be arriving in six to twelve seconds Snafu thought to himself as he rode back to camp as quickly as he could.

In the Camp Falmar's new found companion does the frog equivalent of panting after his run about camp. It waits patiently for something as Falmar dismounts, feeling sore in places a horse never made him sore before. Clearly riding a bounder will require some getting used to.
In the Roadhouse Thar's demeanor and Tishe's looks and attitude keep the cutthroats in the bar from thinking they can get anything for free from the newcomers to the bar. They have counted the cost for ambushing the new arrivals and found the tally to be too high. Snafu is able to study the bar ( good enough for 'seen once' unless you plan on an hour or longer stay). He departs the bar with a ridiculously overpriced bottle of rotgut for his 'campmates'. Tishe's survey of the food and drink brought to them with magic is inconclusive. There does not seem to be poison in it aside from the poison content of normal alcohol, and the meat is apparently not poisoned, nor is it tasty or healthy looking. It will pass for food...somewhere, probably where there are starving kobolds. To Tishe's question Silas looks her square in the nose and answers," What if I have? Would I tell you? Certainly not." He taps the socket of his missing eye." Silas don't see nothin'. Silas don't hear nothin' and most dear to all my patrons, Silas don't tell nothin'. You benefit from that same as the rest o' them if the law comes callin'. Seen that Hob from the Fist in here a couple times. He puts on airs about being the law but ain't nothin he can do, even with his whole Fist against the lot of us. So he turned up his Hob nose and walked out. That's the law for you. No guts an' no spine. No taste for enforcement when they don't have the advantage. That makes this place fall under Silas' law." The bawdy tavern tales and whispered deals all stop abruptly when Serillana enters the Roadhouse. Greedy eyes follow her to the bar, doing the same rough math done when Tishe and Thar entered. From the shifting stools and small hand movements toward weapons it is clear her tally came out differently. The barman's single eye widens when she whispers her terms in his ear. He doubts this lot will pay for entertainment, but since the crowd is roughly 95% male they might pay handsomely. Either way the barman makes some coin. He clears his scratchy voice and introduces her as tonight's dancing entertainment. As soon as that happens, tensed muscles and half-drawn weapons slide back into their sheathes. Apparently what Silas says, goes in his bar.

The witch keeps quiet and observes the room, seeing if she can get any information by NOT asking questions. She also watches the crowd who are leering at Serallina to try and guage thier possible actions. Tishe' gives herself a rueful mental 'tsk'; while the witch blends in well to the miscreants around here, she is hardly the most observant of individuals...

She reaches into her pocket and reveals a silver and flips it onto the table, winks at the Silas "I need some time to get ready. I'll be back in a few minutes."
Serillana finds a nice little dark corner, as she is kinda afraid of what the bathrooms will bring if the bar is in this state. Once she is confident that no-one can see her (Hide in Plain Sight 47) her to get out of her armor and into her black entertainer's outfit.
When Serillana appears again, she's dressed up in simple yet figure hugging clothes that were made for entertaining and acrobatic stunts. Simple black leather pants with a black corset top having a decent décolletage. Black and flowy long sleeves that don't cover her shoulders and her black boots with some heel round off the costume. She also has a simple black belt which has a black scabbard with a dagger in it and a black bullet pouch with 10 bullets in it. The only thing that isn't black is the secondary belt, a silvery leather 'buckle' wrapped around Serillana's waist, tied up with a black thin rope. All up, the costume is reminiscent of what a rogue would wear if she were to have a night off and wanted to enjoy herself.
When she is all ready, she makes her way silently and hidden towards Tishe's and Thar's table, dropping her bag at their feet. "The show must go on, with me not thinking about where my bag is." Serillana thinks and starts off the night with a display off with a display of dance (Perform Dance - 26), building up to some acrobatic skills filled with tumbling and cartwheels between the tables (Acrobatics - 32).
As she dances around the tables, she tries to listen into conversations trying to pick up information about the men in the room, especially if is about slaves and Sharon (Perception 29).

Moxy lets out a loud Kaugh! and hops off Tishe's shoulder. She peers around at the room and begins to poke at the meal Tishe' has left untouched. Picking at and swallowing whole the least tasty looking nuggets of detritus. She washes it down by dipping half of her head into the nearest unglazed tankard, which may or may not have belonged to Thar. As Moxy looks around the bar, her brown eyes grow wide, and her nape puffs out to proudly display the pointed feathers surrounding her nape, sure to intimidate any common crows or lesser birds who happened to look upon her.

Thar's eyes widen a bit when Serillana puts on her black outfit. He tips her well when she comes to his table, but tries not to stare too much. He looks away, quickly resuming his mean expression, drinking his ale and watching the crowd, trying to hear what people are saying and doing...
When Moxy comes near his drink, he nods at her, clearly indicating that she can drink it at her own risk...

Snafu reigns in abruptly as he sees a Large Frog with a mouthful of sharp pointed teeth sitting in the camp next to Falmar and the catatonic Yanosh. The frog seems to be watching every move Falmar makes with an expectant look on its face, as if waiting for Falmar to do something special, or say something special. Once Snafu feels it is not a threat, he continues, more carefully, into the camp.
In the Roadhouse all conversation stops and several jaws go slack as Serillana begins her routine. The dancing had them captivated. The tumbling and cartwheels set them cheering. From the back, a badly tuned piano begins a jaunty tune to which the room full of cut throats begin making up their own lyrics. Between the cheers, the singing and the conversations, some whispered, others not you learn of several different ambush spots for caravans on the roads leading into the Valley,at least one moonshine still off in the hills, various contracts for things to be stolen and folks to be 'taught a lesson'. No one even mentions the name Sharon. If this night is typical you can not understand how none of the patrons have met her, heard of her or seen her. Since it is the time of month she would be coming here to meet Harlan it seems impossible no one knows of her....unless..... Perhaps the halfling just meets her here and then follows her to an out of the way place. That would account for no one seeing or knowing of her, especially after Harlan's description. but how does she notify him? what is their signal. Maybe the journal has more clues.
Serillana's cup/hat/pouch on the bar is filled with coins. Many of the patrons are kinda grabby after her performance ( add 15 silver before you settle with Silas)( mainly due to their unwashed state and the afore mentioned lack of females in the establishment) but Serillana is a quick little rogue and manages to settle up with Silas and evade the grabby patrons. Many of the patrons will remember this day for years as the best dancing they have ever seen. Several may even break a hip trying to replicate it.
Where will the group stay the night?

I guess I had to expect this though..." Serillana asys as she meanders through the crowd, picking up her bag left at the table. In passing, Serillana says to Thar and Tishe', stressing certain words hoping that her message gets across "It like that no-one in this establishment has seen or heard anything about dancing in their life before, huh?"
Walking up to the bar, she looks at the cache of coins, and Serillana motions to Silas and does some quick calculations in her head. "So, here's an extra 3 silver to bring the total to 4 silver. It's a little bit more than the 20% that I offered, but I'm sure you wouldn't mind that, would you? Thanks for letting me dance around a bit." She then pockets the rest of the coin, jumps up on the bar and give Silas a kiss on the cheek. She then exits the bar casually, and once outside moves in the shadows, so none of the creepy guys can follow her to the campsite.

Snafu waited impatiently for an update as he pondered the frog. "I sure hope he doesn't eat owl.
After getting updated Snafu considered their plans for the evening. "I guess we'll set up camp here? Certainly safer here than anywhere near that watering hole. Do you know if the others are planning on coming back?"

Tishe' is a little startled at the enthusiastic response to Serallina's dancing, but the witch has to admit that girl is fine. She shouts out her own lyrics designed to go against the weave of the others, creating a fun cacophony of sound: "Hold me closer Tiny Dancer, forget my headache come a new day...."
When Serallina is done, Tishe' stands and has Moxy get on her shoulder. Nodding to Thar to leave, they goe with many other patrons now that the entertainment is done. She heads back to camp.
At camp, Tishe' stands stock still and then shouts her warning to Falmar; "Watch out, there is a Bounder behind you!" Standing erect, she tries to keep the Bounder from attacking her unaware packmate with a Hypnotism spell.
Once the hullaballoo dies down and Tishe' is calmer, she will tell the others about what they learned, and then start reading that Journal for more clues!

He follows Tishe's motion, and follows her to camp, watching all around them on the way, ensuring that they're not being followed. Once they arrive back at the camp, he assists her in reading through the book, discerning a way to find this Sharon person since the plan at the bar didn't work out...

The bounder DOES stare at Tishe. Then it makes a single leap to place itself between the broken nosed woman and his Paladin. Once Falmar explains the situation though, the Bounder is not threatening to the Witch. The Bounder still watches Falmar. He definitely is waiting for SOMETHING from the Paladin.
Rereading the journal, now with a specific type of entry in mind yields results. After about an hour of reading and rereading you find what looks like a description of Harlan's last buyer and his last purchase.
" I met with Roscoe today to sell him this months slaves. That man is too stupid for his own good. He spent half the night drinking and telling stories about how he was going to strike it rich by getting the 'perfect' slave girl for some southern noble. Doesn't this boob realize that sometimes, even paladins are not complete morons and can follow a story back to the drunk that told it? I need to cut my ties with him before he gets us both caught. Lucky for me there seems to be a new buyer out by the border of the Dreadlands and Cinnamon Valley. I think I'll meet Roscoe and add him to my stock this month and see if I can meet this new seller. Her name is supposed to be Sharon. I think there is a roadhouse or some such out near the border. It is run by thieves so there should be little danger of the authorities catching us there.I will contact her."
The next entry seems to be after he has met with her. " What a strange woman this Sharon was! First she came into the roadhouse as if she owned the place. None of the patrons so much as looked at her more than once, and that look was to gauge how to get out of her way. She walks like she is superior to any of the people in the place, and from looking at her I would say she probably is. She found me easily... I am not sure how exactly. I asked her later, when we were out behind the place finishing our deal. Her response? 'I smelled the slaves on you.' Hmpf, I had bathed and was wearing my best traveling clothes. Smelled them indeed. Either way she does not want to linger in the roadhouse. Frankly that is alright by me. The place is a cesspool. I felt diseased just going in there. That didn't seem to be the reason though. I got the feeling that she hated everyone in there. The feeling rolled off of her in waves. Sheer loathing. It felt like she suppressed it long enough to deal with me, but even I was not immune to her disdain. One weird human I tell you. But she pays good and her gold spends just like any other. She set a schedule for meetings and I just need to make the deliveries. Best of all she is miles ahead of Roscoe in the brains department. I have no worries about her getting me caught. Or of Roscoe either, now that he is someones new slave."
It seems she walks in and meets her buyer and then they leave the place for somewhere private. Now all that needs to be done is fool her into accepting you as Harlan.

Falmar runs a hand along the huge jaw of the bounder, who obligingly opens his maw and lolls his tongue out into the dirt and grass of the camp. Suddenly Moxy launches herself from Tishe's shoulder and flies directly toward the wide open expanse of teeth... Falmar reaches forward in a moment of un-Paladin-like fear... as she lands with her feet straddling the lower teeth, and deftly picks out a mostly chewed morsel of some earlier meal. Moxy's feathers rustle as the meaty-moist breath of the bounder blows past her.

Falmar watches as his new friend tries and tries to get a good look at the loud thing cleaning it's mouth. He slowly runs his hand through his hair and looks around at the rest of the group. " He belongs to me...and.... I belong to him....he is a great Gift, a sign that Sargrass is not lost, a symbol of Faith, an aid in what is to come, and a reminder of what has passed. We're working on an understanding of what is and isn't food....There should be no problems."
(ooc. FYI Baccke (Bounder): This animal looks like an insane cross between a frog and a bulldog. It is about the size of a large horse. It has a huge mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and always seems to be grinning. name coming soon..)

Serillana when she first sees the Bounder does a quick double take, and says "That wasn't there before, was it? And it better figure out quick that I'm not a tiny, yet would be delicious, snack for it to enjoy! I had enough or people wanting to do things to me..."
Serillana then slumps down near the fire going through her usual after performance routine, starting with some basic stretches and then to massaging her feet. In amongst this Serillana says "So we have to go ahead with pretending to be Harlan and a bunch of ragtag bunch of slaves. And, gee, this girl Sharon seems really up herself...."

Tishe' sits back with a sigh, and passes around Harlan's Slave Logbook to let everyone get a chance at coming up with thier own conclusions. "I'm not so sure we'll be able to pass ourselves off as Harlan", she says. "Look at the lines about superior, smell, hates everything. Almost like this Sharon is an animal. Or a werewolf, maybe a vampire. We are close to the lands of the Dread after all."
She shakes her head. "If she is so good and can smell slaves, Sharon will be able to spot a hoax Harlan easy. And would probably be able to see through any slave disguises as well. We would be quickly killed or truly enslaved if we tried our earlier plan."
She sits around for a few minutes in thought, and then turns to her packmates. "So, I see three possibilities... 1) Try to impersonate Harlan and slaves anyways. Come up with a method to disguise smell and alignment 'goodness' 2) Impersonat slavers that killed Harlan and want to take over his route. Easier because not have to be Harlan, but more suspicious, and still have the problem of not smelling like slavers. 3) Wait at Silas' Roadhouse until Sharon goes in and then ambush her. The other patrons are scared of her and so wouldn't interfere. This could also shut down Silas' because it's no longer safe from the law. The drawback is that there would only be one shot and if we fail, the trail is lost.

Through the night, Tishe' slowly warms to the Bounder. "There were free Bounders in the Sargrass that were not under the control of the Baron-slavers", she states. "And it is nice to see a reminder of home. Since she is a gift of faith between you and Sargrass, maybe you should call her 'Faith' ". She pauses and looks at the Bounder again. "Maybe she wants you to get in the saddle?"

Thar's never seen a bounder before but hopes that its friendly and doesn't see him as the next meal. He tries to use his handle animal ability to befriend it and make it feel more comfortable around this group of strangers... (Handle Animal = 11)

The Bounder seems at first distressed to have something in it's mouth that it feels a connection to mentally. It's first instinct is to chomp and make it go away. However, after a moment while Moxy begins to get the stuck in food clear of the Bounder's mouth a look of sublime relief crosses its face. When Moxy has finished her meal and gone to sit on Falmar's shoulder the Bounder sits by, croaking contentedly. It still seems to be waiting for Falmar to come up with the name by which it will be known to its new allies. Tishe and then Thar both decide after reading and rereading the text that outright impersonation of Harlan would probably end badly. Most likely this Sharon knows that Harlan cleaned up his loose ends before he joined up with her. Perhaps she will not miss the halfling, so long as the slaves keep coming. Facing a foe with senses as Keen as Sharon's seem to be, the group decides to make up a good cover story for their presence in Harlan's stead.

There just doesn't seem to be a solution that doesn't anger Sharon in some way or put some of us in danger. Question now is which way will anger Sharon the least."

As the conversation took on a more serious tone, Snafu listened carefully and then added his two copper pieces- "Sharon will likely have a nose for sniffing out deception. Whoever has contact with her will need to be an excellent actor. Those of us without this gift should not have contact with her until we move to strike."
"Unfortunately, bluffery is not my strong suit" Snafu added . "However, I do have a gift for escape, and I do not need to speak, move or use components when casting most of my spells. I might make a good prisoner, but we must find a way so that she can not question me."
"If only I were deaf or mute" Snafu muttered aloud.

"No. No pretend slaves. We don't have all the slaver equipment nor the smell to pull it off." Tishe' is adamant about not putting anyone in a position to get eaten. "We come in as cutthroats who offed Harlan (we have his clothing as proof), and want in on the action. We are under the assumption that he was buying slaves from Sharon and not the other way around. Even if the meeting ends with her going away and not following up, I am not worried."
"Remember, once I meet this Sharon and get to know her, I should be able to track her location through my Scrying spells. And we can find out if she is the boss or middleman in this slaving ring."
"So, who is the best at lying to make our story believable? Certainly not me!" Tishe' looks at Serallina, who is the best at Bluffing. "How would you like to look like a human slaver?"

Serillana sighs. "It's not one of my strongest suits, but yeah, I should be able to do some stuff. Story is that we procured all of Harlans stuff, noted that he brings slaves to you and that we should be able to buy some of her if it is possible. Is the group going to pretend that they are a bunch of bodyguards for an underground operation of some sort? Maybe a lady of the night 'dance' parlor, needing these slaves to provide 'entertainment', or just 'provide' for our guests. Maybe thats how we got Harlan's stuff? And I can be the manager.
"I'll fill in the story to make it a little more believable using white lies, but that isn't a problem. Even some stories about mine and Taldera's escapades might find their way through. Is that a fair enough story?"

The heroes toss around ideas about how to approach Sharon. A plan begins to form, one that the group is at least sure will not make her happy. Repeated looks through Harlan's journal and ledger show that he always brought her some kind of slaves even if it was only one or two. He has no accounts of her attitude when he showed up empty handed since that was never the case. The Bounder, now known as Dondit appears relieved that Falmar has given it a name. Contented it no longer sits expectantly watching the paladin but now turns away from the firelight and watches the night. As the group discusses how to implement their plan the Bounder begins croaking. It is soft at first, then it is loud enough to make out that it is croaking it's name over and over. If anyone goes to check the Bounder appears to be soundly asleep as it croaks.

"Dondit", Tishe' muses smiling, "a good name, and a good remembrance." She pats Falmar fondly on the arm as her nose appears to slide to the left side of her face. "Sargrass would be pleased."
Come the morning, Tishe' would like the group to move closer to Silas' Roadhouse and watch the road in. When they spot Sharon, or someone who could be Sharon, Tishe' will Polymorph Serallina into a Human man for the disguise (+20 Disguise check)
Bringing Harlan's clothes in a bag, the group can then ride into the courtyard all together, looking like trouble themselves. "A show of force never hurts", Tishe' comments, and waits for Serallina to take the lead.

Like, what is to stop Sharon from questioning any of us? Serillana might be a good dancer... he means bluffer, but how many of us will be able to convince her should she question us?"
"My cards are on the table" Snafu added... this time in first person. "I am willing to be the slave if it helps the cause. Maybe Serillana doesn't like the taste of half elf?"
"I am a bad liar, but I can sniff out a motive like a dog sniffs out sizzling bacon on a Sunday morning. If I sense anything's amiss with ol'Chompy Chomp I'll be out of there faster than you can say Half-elf and potatoes.

Then solely focusing of Snafu she says "Me?! Eat a Half-elf? I'm sure I wouldn't enjoy it... I won't even get through an arm!" Serillana laughs then gets on with the preparations.

Serril AKA Serillana looks like any ordinary man, with the same qualities that Serillana would have as a halfling. Serril's black hair is slicked and tied back in a medium length ponytail, facial hair trimmed into a nice goatee. Physically, he is slightly taller than the average human male and is perfectly fit, just like a dancer. He is still dressed in the same way that Serillana would be, but more masculine. Off white tunic broken up with a black belt, black pants held up with a leather belt and black boots, with padded armour underneath the majority of his body. A nice looking dagger scabbard hangs off the belt of his pants, albeit it is smaller than a usual dagger.
He looks as though he has traveled a fair bit, his normally slight tanned skin looks darker through the amount of time in the sun and the dirt that has accumulated from just walking around.

Weapons don't transform with you when polymorphed, right? So at the moment I have small weapons. DM, will you allow me to fashion a Sling for this occasion (and with slings having no cost, technically can just find suitable materials from anything... And it takes no time to create.) Can someone lend me a dagger or something, so that I can defend myself in close combat if the time comes for it?
Is the plan going to go something like this?
- Serillana goes to her and tells her that she wants some slaves for his business, getting information about these meetings from the diary of a halfling named Harlan, acquiring it through our business, showing her the clothing and diary as proof.
- Are we trying use the number of "lackeys" to put pressure on Sharon? If so, two should flank me to the right and left, two should be behind me, somewhat in a W configuration.
-If not, Have two with with me to put a little pressure on her, with two hanging around watching out for anything bad that might happen.

Charmed is a good plan for Falmar otherwise I think he'd be pretty obvious, and his usual lack of fear would keep him from shaking too much.. Falmar will not speak unless spoken to and will smile at Serilana often. I'd like to have Dondit stay near camp and moxy keep to the trees nearby to alert us of anything coming toward us we should know about (1/2 mile radius about). We need some type of escape plan or this could just be her leading us to slaughter. Falmar can now teleport out fairly quickly if he needs to, but only himself.

OOC Yes you can fashion a sling since you have the craft ability and the sling is a simple weapon made from readily available cloth and you are very proficient in its use. Polymorph is Vague and I want you all to be at your best for this encounter so I'll say the polymorph transforms your gear to medium size as well. Falmar, Cayzle and I are working to make Dondit's stats official so be prepared for a few of his stats to change. I don't think it will be a major difference. Cayzle is also been in contact with Yanosh so you might have your dwarf back sometime soon. They are going over his character to make up a fast and dirty sheet so that he can join you.
IC Once the apponited day arrives Serril and his four guards make their way down to the roadhouse and wait for Sharon in the dooryard.( again I fail at maps so this will be done by description. You will receive the benefit of the doubt on any actions that require precise planning due to my lack of map) The morning passes and there is no traffic to be seen either entering or leaving the roadhouse. Around noon those who are on the perimiter are able to see some movement in the tall grass around the edges of the clearing the roadhouse is set in. The creatures making the moves are quadruped and staying low enough to not be obviously seen, but you are hardened adventurers and were looking for just this sort of thing. You make out five forms slinking around in the grass. They do nothing hostile, but thoroughly scope out the dooryard. After about ten minutes of scrutiny, one of them breaks off and heads up the road away from the roadhouse. You are able to make out that it is some kind of wolf, fairly large as wolves go. The other forms hold their ground. You remember reading that Sharon was often acompanied by wolves and manage to keep your cool. five minutes after the lone wolf ran away, you see it return at the heel of a woman. She walks down the middle of the road as if she owns it and is headed right for the dooryard. She has clearly seen the three figures in the yard and very likely knows about those on the perimeter. You have about one minute before she reaches the dooryard. If there are any final preparations to be made let me know what they are. Tomorrow she will be standing before you. The roadhouse is situated so that there is roughly 100 feet of open space in all directions around the building. In this open area the grass grows long, about thigh high to a human.Outside this space are scrub bushes and trees, which screen further vision. The road to the bar is visible to about a half mile away where it crests a hill and then slopes down behind the hill. The woman is on the road and has just come over the hill.

Snafu makes an attempt at hiding, which prompts one of the wolves on the perimeter to move closer to him and do a very uncharacteristic thing for a wolf. It points at him like a hunting dog would do. Sharon does not break stride as she approaches. She simply whispers something to the wolf at her side and it utters a series of short barks. At this the wolf near Snafu relaxes, but continues to watch the half-elf from a safe fifteen foot distance. Thar attempts to get a better look at the wolves and determine what type they are. To his eye they appear to be good sized versions of Dire Wolves. He casts his Magic circle and waits to see what happens next. As Sharon draws closer she begins casting spells on herself. They all appear to be self enhancement spells ( Barkskin, Bear's Endurance, Cat's Grace, Longstrider and three different versions of Resist Energy) Now that she is closer you can see her better and get a good idea of what she is wearing. She is not anyone's beauty queen. She has obviously been in a few fights and it shows on her face. Her nose is a bit crooked and there is a minor scar on one of her cheeks. Her red hair is worn long and does not seem to be bound in any way. It flies around her head like a halo. Her clothes appear to be comfortable and fairly rich, yet she does not seem to take very good care of them, they are a bit dingey and as you get a better look, so is her hair. She wears an oversized silk shirt and what appear to be well worn leather leggings. Her feet are clad in well made boots. She wears a brooch around her neck and leather bracers around her wrists. several rings adorn her hands and a cloak is draped over her shoulder. Two curved knives hang from her belt. Otherwise she carries nothing. No food, no backpack of satchel. Nothing in which to carry the gold you expect she would be paying Harlan for a delivery of slaves. Will save 11 Sharon closes to within 50' of the group and stops. In her mind Tishe is able to hear her thoughts." I hate this filthy roadhouse. I think Harlan picked it at random at first and insisted on continuing to meet me here because of my obvious displeasure. These fools are still standing here scoping me out like prey. What the hell are they thinking? Best to prepare for the worst. Two filthy humans and a half breed. Marvelous. Harlan best be ready to deal. If these idiots get in my way I will be most displeased when I meet that little slaver." Out loud you all hear, " Ok, I see you in the dooryard as if you were not being obvious enough. We are waiting for that smug little halfling that ran off without his payment to me, his timetabled rendezvous with her has been written in detail in this little diary. I thought that I should get into that action, I need some of his stock to be able to serve some more of my customers. Some of them are very picky with their tastes. At the very least, he has to pay me back, plus interest." Serril gives Sharon a little smirk as he closes the diary with a small thud.

"Ack!!!! I thought that was just a pattern on the fabric..." Serillana thinks trying to not let the surprise show on Serril's face. With Serillana trying to focus on her lies and how to spin the best web of deceit, her vision starts to tunnel towards having only her and Sharon in the same world, with Tishe's voice cutting through getting more information about her.
Serril then smiles, keeping his voice low and dark trying to not slip into a higher pitched voice that Serillana would normally do. "Yes, he wanted to try something different." Serill then looks down then back up. "And a little bigger, but that's of no importance to you. Well, okay, you caught me. Yes, we set up a nice rock-fall-and-hoist-up-into-the-air trap and he fell for it, he had a nice little concussion, but the little bugger got away. Using a spell no doubt... Of course we took his clothing and travelling items for payment before he woke up, and they we know exactly what he can do and didn't want to risk it. That's reason why we have his personal items with us. I almost felt sorry for that little bugger. You have to be careful with who you tell things, you know.

In fact, she was pretty nice after we got over the misunderstanding. Though, that doesn't change the fact that she is still a very, very scary woman. So, we keep track of them, I guess? And check if we can slowly take things out separately and swiftly? We were outnumbered back there...."

The wolf endures Snafu's stare with a bored expression on its face. At one point it even yawns. Under Snafu's critical eye there is no sign that the wold is other than an indigenous Dire Wolf. It's fur has grasses and burrs from the surrounding wild areas in it and it appears to be healthy . He detects no sorcery or any other magical effects on the wolf. Sharon turns away from Serill and starts to walk away. Tishe hears her thoughts." It is not too late in the day for me to capture at least one specimen for Skalipy. At least he will have some fresh stock to work with. I had been counting on the stupid halfling to do my hunting for me since the Fist and that band of nosy adventurers started making it more difficult by spreading out and covering more ground. I can still avoid them, maybe even pick off one of the Fist's reduced patrols. Marteus knows they haven't a chance of beating me even if they put up a fight. Maybe Skalipy would like to try his hand with the hobgoblin leader.... that is a race he hasn't worked on yet. It could be the perfect specimen. I wonder how hard he will be to find..." At this point Sharon has reached the edge of Tishe's spell and her thoughts are once more her own.

Snafu gauged the distance between himself and the nearest wolf. 30 feet or less? he wondered. (OOC- Snafu wants to be within 30' of a wolf... he'll move if necessary).
Estimating that he was indeed within range of the wolf, he subtly began manipulating his hand beneath the folds of his cloak. His concentration was focused on the fur of the nearby wolf. Delicately he willed a single piece of hair to be plucked from the coat of the wolf. And when the hair was indeed plucked, Snafu let it fall to the ground.
Figure that out, smart guy Snafu thought as he thought about how the hair might be used later on.

She tells her packmates of the name Skalipy and expiriments, and how Sharon is going to find more test subjects for Skalipy. "She knows about us, too, and that we are making it harder for her to kidnap people. And she needs people soon."
Detect Thoughts (duration by concentration) 1st Round: Presence or absence of thoughts. 2nd Round: Number of thinking minds and the Intelligence score of each. If highest INT is 26, Tishe' is stunned 1 round and the spell ends. 3rd Round: Will DC 19 or can read surface thoughts of any mind in the area.

Snafu manages to drop a single wolf hair into the grass. Once Sharon is over the hill, Moxy is deployed to 'keep an eye on her. The familiar finds no humanoids in the area over the hill. All that the bird is able to spot are wolves moving through the grasses, headed toward the Cinnamon Valley and the many farms spread throughout the area. If asked to count the bird finds somewhere between 5 and 7 wolves. They are not running together and it loses some and finds others so a firm count is not possible. All of the wolves surrounding you are gone.

Tishe' curses for several minutes, a pidgin of Sargrass and Hook City colloquialisms mixed in with Pantheon, Sargrass, Gargul, Domi, Maab, and Ebyron's names with one or two to Alemi and Celsiun just in case. "Curse me for a slow minded Prarie Pig", she finally ends. "Sharon is a druid and perhaps a werewolf, Lost Child, or some other connection to wolves. She has been having her wolves snatching people and leaving only prints behind! And in animal form, we will never catch up to her!"
"It is night, I can send a message to Almar Blackhand, to call his sleeping spirit and warn him. I fear that other than that we can't do anything other than wait for her to take some more people and to Scry on her until we find the location of this experimenting lunatic."
She looks at her packmates, hoping they have a better plan than letting this murdering kidnapper loose for a couple of days and not warning any innocents about it!

Despondently, Tishe' goes back to camp with the others. Once there, she enlarges her cauldron and fills it with water, casting a special Witch Spell Call Spirit. During the strenuous spell, she places the dagger that Almar Blackhand gave her in the water and urges his sleeping spirit to come and hover over the cauldron and speak with her.
Tishe' will warn Blackhand of Sharon and her wolves. How they were too slow to stop her, where her last direction and speed was, and that Sharon has a personal vendetta against Blackhand. "We will try to find the location of this Skalipy treadle. Without him, the kidnappings should stop."
The witch waits for anything Almar wants to say before ending the spell, sending his spirit back to his sleeping body, and feeling the crushing exhaustion of working with living spirits.
Wobbling on her feet, Tishe' smiles at Snafu. "The wolf's hair will be very helpful, sweetie. I'll keep it and start casting Scrying spells to see if we can find Skailpy's lair." Tishe' first tries a Scry Spell to find Sharon and see where she is now.

He listens, slightly disappointed to the story as it is told to him. When the part about a personal vendetta is mentioned he seems shocked." She makes this personal? I have never met a woman like the one you describe. But I have served the Fist for years and she may have been on the losing side of a conflict I was part of. My livery is distinctive and would be easily marked from a distance. I will be on the watch for her, but if she shows her face I will do my best to send her to meet Gargul in person. I will ready my troops once I finish speaking to you. If she is out there I will find her, risk be damned. The first attempt at scrying is resisted by Sharon's strong will. ( I rolled another save before I read the spell, she fails the second one but that won't help you until 24 hours have passed unless someone else can scry. I assume you will try the wolf next, having failed on Sharon.)
Attempting to find the wolf that was plucked by Snafu yields a dizzying view of a pack of roughly half a dozen wolves bounding through the grasses of the Cinnamon Valley. As the minutes go by you watch as the wolves first slow, thenstop, panting to drink from a puddle beside a field. Watching closely you are able to make out the fields that lined the road as you rode into Jarlwolf a few weeks ago. The crops are higher but you recall one farmer had his fence adorned with the colorful skins of poisonous snakes that he had found while tilling. Now the skins are faded but you are quite sure that this fence is the one you remember. The wolves all stalk their way towards the farm house. They reach the dooryard just as the time expires on your spell.

OOC Falmar, the boots allow you to teleport as if you had the spell, so at 9th caster level, allowing you to take 3 willing medium sized creatures or their equivalent with you.
IC Snafu and Falmar both close their eyes and picture the fence Tishe described. They see the snake skins. They remember the rails. They recall the look of the fields and the road....Then you are all there. Falmar and Snafu both feel a bit winded and need to catch their breath. Tishe, Thar and Serallina are able to act. The night is dark around you. Ahead you can see lamplight in the window and around the doorway of the home. Somewhere in the middle, in the darkness you hear several snarls as the wolves sense your presence. The wolves turn on you and come bounding through the darkness and the tall grass at you. One wolf lunges at each of you. Falmar hit AC 26 for 9 miss Tishe hit AC 15 for 7 miss Thar hit AC 11 for 8 miss Serallina Hit AC 29 crit confirmed on ac 24 for 9 21 if crit hits no crit, trip attempt 11 failed Snafu Hit AC 22 for 12 miss Serallina is bitten but the wolf fails to trip her. Snafu sidestepped the wolf's attack, rolled back out of it's reach, and quick cast a spell as he came out of the roll. Instantly, three beams of fire exploded from Snafu's fingertips and struck the wolf nearest him.

Tishe' takes a single step away from the wolf on her and then brings her staff upright, slamming the area directly directly in front of her with a Fireball from her staff.
She then uses a hand to pull out of her magical quiver her broom of flying sitting on it to be ready to move. "Sharon is a werewolf!", she calls, the half-manbeast form a dead givaway!

The wolves come rushing in and the defenders of the Valley react with great speed. Snafu tumbles away from his wolf and instantly incinerates it with three bolts of fire. The wolf's charred corpse lies on the ground, unmoving. Serillana dances around her wolf, getting it into a spot where Thar threatens it. The wolf lashes out at her but misses. She then lashes out with her dagger catching her wolf in a vital spot causing it to bleed from the wound. Thar stands his ground and fires at the wolf, which in turn bites at anyone brash enough to use a bow in melee. The wolf misses, but Thar does not. Two arrows sink deep into its hide and electricity dances across the wolf fur. Yet the beast still lives. Tishe steps away from her wolf and using her staff drops a pea sized glowing ember into the grass behind it. The pea erupts into a fireball that catches her own wolf plus the wolves that Thar, and Serillana have wounded as well as Serillana herself. (Reflex DC 22 Serillana It is a close fight, the fireball would have to catch one of the flankers, Serillana moved the farthest to get position so I envision her behind where the wolves came from and in the blast) None of the wolves are prepared for this blast and only the wolf that attacked Tishe survives when the smoke clears. Falmar slashes the wolf in front of him and deals a wicked blow to the beast and then follows it up with another slash. Dondit sees Falmar attack and strikes a blow of his own against the wolf, killing it. The Bounder munches contentedly on the rather large bite of dire wolf it finds in its mouth.
Tishe's scorched wolf turns and runs into the house ( AoO from Dondit, Falmar and Serillana, Dondit with his tongue) from inside can be heard the growls and then a yelp of pain that sounds canine. The yelp is followed by several screams, one of which can be heard to be an anguished cry of " NO! Father!". Something heavy then hits the wooden floor, followed by something that sounds like a body. You are about 60 feet from the front door. The house is not large, perhaps 15' deep and 30 long with the door on the left front corner. the light of one or more candles or lamps flickers inside and you can see Sharon's shadow return to human form. In one of her hands in her curved knife.

"No matter the depravity that Sharon and her wolves perform tonight, she shall not escape to continue her evil", vows Tishe', and the Witch calls upon Sargrass to erect a Wall of Thorns shaped in a giant U that surrounds the house. The only opening is where her packmates can advance towards the house.
The Witch then sits on her broom, delaying to fly her towards the house until her packmates advance.

OOC: Sorry about the delay. I was in arbitration all day on Friday and it really wiped me out.
IC: Snafu stabs out with his rapier as the wolf turns to flee and his strike is true. (Damage 7; also potentially 12 sneak damage = 19).
Snafu then cast Greater Invisibility on himself and charged for the door. (40' move speed).
