Character Creation. - We are using standard Woldian Pathfinder Character Creation rules as per Woldipedia.
and there is a example Pathfinder Character Sheet you can download too!!
- We are 1st Level. - We are starting at the BEGINNING of Rum; the Fixer Army (backstory) hasn't left New Elennia to build Rum yet. - The game will start in New Elennia. At time of first post, each character must: ...be in any town of New Elennia or Dirt City (PCs don't have to be together) ...have SOME connection with the Woldian League of Adventurers. This can be a relative, mentor, childhood friend, you owe them a favor, they owe you a favor, stowaway... SOME connection. This is the start of the first adventure hook and is required to bring the group together.
Startup Timeline. 13 June. Provide character sheet to me for approval. We will begin posting on the Rum board. 20 June. First Post of the Game!
Rum Player Information.
Rum is going to be a port town on an island to the west of the New Elennian countries. I say "Going to Be" because the city hasn't been settled yet! Most of the countries of New Elennia have cooperated in opening the Western Lands and have planned a trading port town that will be a springboard for adventurers, merchants, and colonization. This is a planned town; every street and building is already on a paper plan even though a single brick has yet to have mortar.
The adventuring group is going to be asked (individually) by the Woldian League of Adventurers (look it up on the Woldipedia) to be the tip of the WLA spear to establish the organization at Rum and to help those who need help. In compensation, the WLA will sponsor each hero into the WLA and waive the initial fee. (The WLA does great things in the Wold, is a good group, and has some fantastic benefits for heroes in the group.)
..............All names in Bold are ones the Players should really remember. Hint, hint, hint.
Hildalgo Conti, heir to the once mighty Shipping Guild came up with the concept: build a planned city from scratch that would return the sea trade to its former glory of the 4th age. Hildalgo petitioned Sturtevant, High Lord Mayor of New Elenna and obtained his support. It was such a good idea that the Free-States League, an alliance of most of the nations of Elenna took over the project and only gave the Shipping Guild a portion of the contract, demanding that it should be an opportunity for many.
Now, planned to the individual zone and street, the project is about to break ground. A small fleet of 10 ships is set to embark from South Harbor before next Godsday. Full of Fixers, Architects, Adventurers, and Construction Workers, it will begin laying ground a couple of months from now when they arrive at the Rum location.
Set on one of the smaller islands near the "Big Island" on the Southern Yrthian Island Chain, the area is mostly unexplored, although the WLA [Woldian League of Adventurers] has said they have done some exploration of the area already. Mutambo, representative to the public of the WLA states, "If there was a problem with the site, we'd know about it already."
The building of the City is being handled by a committee of various governments and firms that has been named The Triangle. Everyone is clamoring to invest in the new city. Plots of land are being auctioned off by The Triangle to help fund the project. Nobles are wanting mansion and castle sites. Temple sites are being promised in exchange for workers, materials... and very large donations. Hundreds of contracts are going out. Creative payment in future city holdings, land, promises, etc.
Already, the city, not even built yet, is the focus of huge amounts of money, skill, and opportunity!
Barratore Steelwind (Dan K) 5d6=17 ; Monday June 13th, 2011 8:14:53 PM
Rum...the name smacked of adventure!Uncle Metascar had really come through. The meeting had gone well and he, Barratore Steelwind was now not only on his way to Rum, but he was actually be sponsored by andwould soon be part of The League itself. Yes things were good as he slid he weapon of choice into its scabbard, hoisted his pack and headed down for the docks that morning. The big reddish brown minotaur made his way eaily enough. Not many folks get in the way of minotaur in the first place, add in his weapon and armor taht he was a good sized male even for minotaurs and well, generally he found not many keeping him company. Life was good
Harvest Moon /Al Monday June 13th, 2011 8:23:28 PM
The figure moves down the streets of Plateau City, ragged and formless, a pile of discarded burlap that, through some inexplicable magic, took it upon itself to rise up and walk. A bladed polearm, impossibly long for the diminutive height of the figure, its blade mottled with rust, balances against what might be a shoulder, held steady by what might be an arm.
Thelonious had said that the League of Adventurers were in this area. Somewhere. The face within the hood frowns. She had not thought this place could be so big. Even though Thelonious had often spoken of the size of cities, she had not fully comprehended the truth behind the words. It is, it appears, one of the many things that one must experience in order to understand them.
"Go to the League, Harvest," he had said after Mother had died. "They will give you the home that you need. It is a home that I cannot give you." Thelonious had taken care of she and Mother. Ever since that day that he had found her scrapping with those four members of the Blood Sands. The contents of her meager forage had lain scattered on the ground where they had been slapped out of her hands. All of the boys had been bigger than her. That had not been nothing unusual in and of itself. Almost everyone was bigger than she. A small thin half-elfish girl of fourteen years, she stood crouched and ready to fight off all four. Her lips were drawn back in a snarl, and a growl ticked in her throat.
He had come barreling through, bald bullet head tucked in, impossibly broad across the chest, and scattering them in all directions. They were armed, three had cudgels, the fourth a dagger. He faced them unarmed. Even so, they, with their proud weapons, all of them, had turned and fled that day. "I am Thelonious Johnson," he had said, and helped her pick up the few scraps of food that she had managed to scavenge.
He had cared for them, she and Mother. The mad feeble elf and the daughter that she had somehow miraculously managed to raise. He had cared for them both for a year. He had trained young Boo Moon to fight as well. To fight and to think and to survive. He had also given her a second name, Harvest.
Then Mother had died. After so many years, her body had given out, just as her mind had long before. Thelonious had sent her to Plateau City, and today she had arrived.
A sigh escapes the lips of Harvest Moon. Reminiscence had brought on melancholy. She moves off the street and into the shadow of a nearby building. She leans her polearm up against the wall. From her pouch she draws a thick, dry and gnarled root and then squats at the base of the wall. She gazes down from within the depths of the robe's hood, turning the object in her hands. Yes. Its shape is very like the one he carried. Thelonious had a wooden symbol in the shape of a fist - the fist of Domi. He carried it with him always, and this root that she had dug from the ground appears very much like it in shape. Her small rough hands peek from the cuffs of the over-sized sleeves of her robes, two inquisitive mice exploring her own symbol of Domi.
Find the Woldian League of Adventurers, he had said. With a sigh, Harvest Moon places the root back into her pouch. She stands and once again takes up the polearm. They must be here in this city somewhere. Thelonious had said that they were. She had come all this way from the war ravaged Contested Kingdoms. She would not allow the maze of this city to daunt her now.
"Iron Shot " Tom | HP 11/11 | AC 18/13/14 | CMD 18 Character Sheet (Troy) Tuesday June 14th, 2011 1:12:13 PM
He steps his way through South Harbor's docks easily, the chill from the ocean only barely felt. "Not good.", he thinks as he eyes the night workers, looking for his contact. "feels like a good place for a mugging.".
His instincts soon prove right, as he hears the sound of a dagger being unsheathed. "Put down the sword, and pass over your coin.". The thief's voice is the sound of gravel crunched underfoot.
Tom sighs to himself. "A..llright mister, I don't want no trouble.", he says with his best trembling voice. As he makes a show of lowering the sword to the ground, he thinks "Stupid cutpurses, always thinking the swords the threat.". His buckler hides the real danger, a simple sling, which his experienced fingers load without a moments hesitation.
With a sudden step away, "Iron Shot" Tom Conroy lives up to his name. Two stones whirl from the sling in rapid succession, both striking the cutpurse square in the temple. He laughs as the figure collapses to the ground. "Never bring a dagger to a range fight son." he whispers to the now unconscious rogue.
He continues on his way, confident that he will not be harassed by the local pick pockets any more tonight.
"Now where'd my contact get too?"
OOC: So Barratore doesnt speak common... should be interesting :) I have two free languages, want me to pick up Tauric, or would you prefer not to be able to communicate at the start?
Harvest Moon /Al Wednesday June 15th, 2011 10:07:20 AM
"Oy! Stop that! What do you think you're doin' there?"
Harvest Moon freezes, turning cat-wide eyes in the direction of the voice and peering out from within her hood. Her hand is poised within the small hole that she had excavated in the garbage pile, halted in the act of extracting the partially eaten heel of a bread loaf.
"Be off with you. Go on!" The large florid human in his stained apron shoos her away with the backs of his hands. From his place on the raised stoop of the door, he looks impossibly tall, and Harvest Moon scrambles back from this angry giant, leveling the rusted blade of the polearm in his direction. The man reacts with an alarm equal to that which Harvest Moon had exhibited only a moment ago.
"Here, here now. There's no call for that." He retreats into the doorway, exposing only the top of his head. "Go on. Away with you or I'll be calling the guard."
Harvest Moon relaxes her stance. The blade of the polearm lowers to the ground. "This belongs to you?" she asks, indicating the mound of garbage, pointing with the butt of the polearm. "If this belongs to you, then I am sorry." From her pouch she removes an old dry turnip, half of a carrot, and a few discarded skins from an onion. Each, she places back upon the mound of garbage. "I am sorry," she says again as she backs away from the man.
From a distance away, she turns, gazing aback at the mound, and the building that it is built up against. The man is no longer visible, having retreated back inside. Harvest Moon sighs. Perhaps there would be another such place here within the city. She would go hungry again tonight if one is not found. With a sigh, she continues up the street, eyes peering into the hidden places where food or other useful things might have been discarded. In the pouch at her belt the gold, silver and copper coins shift and slide against each other, forgotten, out of mind, and unused.
Brom / RichP Wednesday June 15th, 2011 11:17:11 AM
Brom waits patently as his Uncle Ben is off doing whatever it is he is doing. Before he left his only words to Brom was "Wait here, boy, and stay out of trouble."
The large man, six and a half feet in height, looks around trying to spot trouble coming his way. He really doesn't want more trouble, but it always seems to find him.

Rum Pre-Module Adventures (DMSteveK) Wednesday June 15th, 2011 12:20:23 PM Plateau City
Harvest Moon continues to look for a meal and the Woldian League of Adventurers, so far without much success. Still, you didn't even get the little you could in the Contested Kingdoms by giving up, and so she continues wandering the streets. Through alleyways and backstreets she wanders, finding that food is harder to get here in a big city. It seems like even the smallest crumb is someone elses. All the taverns she has seen have a "slop bucket" on the back porch, but it is not to throw away leftover food. No, the bucket is jealously guarded by the cook or cook's helpers, part of thier meager pay. Ashes are thriftily collected for the soapmakers, cloth scraps for the rag-and-bonemen who in turn sell the refuse to paper and glue makers, and nearly everything else burned in ovens for just that little extra fuel.
The ragged monk at one tavern is able to rest her back against the outside of a chimney to collect some warmth. The Assistant Cook seems nice enough and provides Harvest Moon with a bacon rind, a burnt loaf, and a paring of cheese that is still good despite the mold all over. She also gives Harvest Moon a small wooden bowl. "There's a dear", says the middle aged portly woman, "can't go beggin without a beggin bowl. And best you get your tithe to the Beggar's Guild afore you are caught. Rest up now next to the chimbley, you'll need your strength."
Brom the Giant cools his heels while Uncle Ben goes into a prosperous-looking building. About him is the bustle of a busy city, merchants hawking thier wares, street children playing a game with some sort of fist-sized bean-filled cloth sack. There are many signs over doors in this area of the city, words that mean nothing to Brom alongside pictures that explain things so much better: a lit candle on a sign for a candlemaker, a cake of soap on a sign for a soapmaker. Not sure what the sign of arms twisted in strange positions are for, though...
South Harbor
The tale of Barratore and Iron Tom...
Barratore (and Iron Tom in another part of the city) finds his way blocked a wee bit more than he expects; there are a LOT of people in town, and all varieties too. Seems that the town is chock full of the regular townsfolk and fishing fleet (which the minotaur overhears there is a storm brewing on the water and the fishermen are gonna wait it out til it blows over). Not only that, but large two- and three-masted sailing ships are docked getting ready for the first fleet to Rum. Sailors and adventurers, soldiers and clerics, builders and miners... they are all in town waiting for the fleet to be ready to sail. And then there are the teamsters, waggons full of many sorts of boxes, bales, and barrels slowly pushing through the crowds and blocking the streets. Stevedoers are loading and unloading ships and warehouses. Merchants are hiring extra protection for warehouse, dock, and ship. And then there are suttlers and snakeoilmen, washerwomen and hookers of all prices and races, and other professions that prey on large groups of people. ..
In short, a stranger, even a large minotaur or well-armed human, doesn't even get noticed or blinked at twice. And there is NO WAY a stranger is going to be able to wander about town without directions and be able to find anything except by the special blessings of Wardd.
Harvest Moon /Al Wednesday June 15th, 2011 4:28:05 PM
"You are very kind." Harvest Moon clutches the bowl in her hands. It is small. It is attractive in it's utilitarian way. And it is a gift from a stranger.
She pulls back the hood from her face, revealing large eyes with a tilt, high cheekbones, and taller ears that come to a point, all characteristic of elfish blood. More striking is her hair. Fine and mouse-brown, it is shaved upon all sides to a fingertip's length. At the front, though, Harvest Moon's hair grows long. A crest of her fine hair arcs over her forehead hanging down nearly over one eye.
"Thank you for the bowl. I like it very much." She holds the simple carved wooden utensil in her hands as though it is precious beyond words. At the bottom of the bowl the one who carved it had incised a line to more greatly emphasize the foot. It is a small thing, but it speaks of the care that the bowl's creator took in its creation. It is a small thing, but Harvest is keenly moved. Then she looks up with hope in her eyes.
"Excuse me," she asks the well-fleshed human woman, "I am hoping that you can help me once more. I am searching for the Woldian League of Adventurers. Do you, perhaps, know where they can be found?"

Plateau City The portly woman beams an encouraging smile to Harvest Moon. "I won't ask your business, but if you need heroic help there is not many who would be better at it than the League. You give me until a mark before sundown and I'll be able to take you there myself."
Just then, a shout comes from the kitchen and the woman has to hurry in to continue her own duties. "Mark to sunset!", she calls over her shoulder.
Leapold Thursday June 16th, 2011 6:53:54 PM
Leapold arrives at the designated spot at the designated time. His "Escorts" in the City guard make sure of that. They hand him back his gear and leave with a warning about what will happen if he doesn't make this journey as agreed.
He stands around looking for who his is supposed to speak to next, for this adventure out to the western lands. He is still not to keen on the trip, but it beats jail. He reminds himself he should thank old man Marcus for stepping in on his behalf, even though he can't quite shake the feeling the old missionary had something to do with him getting caught in the first place.

Back against the warm brick of the chimbly Harvest Moon ponders what to do with the time. Raising her head, she sniffs at the air. She watches the direction in which the wispy clouds travel against the blue of the sky. Within her there grows a certainty, even in this strange city amidst all of this newness, that she could, should she wish to, find her way back to this place.
But what if the woman should return and find her gone? Would she wait? Would she think that she, Harvest Moon, did not wish to go to the Woldian League of Adventurers after all, and had left, saying nothing? Would the opportunity then be gone forever?
No. She would stay.
Harvest slides down the rough stone surface of the chimbly. Crouched at its base, she examines the gifted bowl. With a hand, possibly as dirty as the inside of the bowl itself, she wipes it clean and then brings her pack around to retreive her water skin. From the waterskin she pours a few mouthfuls into the bottom of the bowl. Then she brings the edge of the bowl to her lips and she drinks. The water is good. It is even moreso for having come from her new bowl. It would be a very good bowl. And useful.

Plateau City
Harvest Moon looks up and can tell that here in the city there are some things the same as from her home. It is Spring, the time of renewal, of new things. The beaten bowl and the warm chimbley are unlooked for gifts, and all the more generous for that. The ragged girl whiles away the hours until the woman steps out of the kitchen again at an hour until sundown. She wears a shawl and cloth hat and carries a bag, the smells within confirming that it is her family's dinner that she carries home. "This way", says the kindly face. And they are off.
Harvest and the woman walk through the working-class streets until the woman turns off to an alley. "My home is this way, third on the left, green door. Once you are done with the League, you are well come to my home and my family for the night. The good Alemi blesses those who show kindnesses to the poor." The woman points further down the main street through the gathering dusk. "The League has a stone building another block on with a red door, thier distinctive W.L.A sign is prominent. Go there and find your satisfaction." And with that the woman parts.
Leopold has been escorted through a red door in an imposing stone building. He recognized the placard hanging by an iron shank above the door as the W.L.A. Left in shackles in the foyer, he is met by a small, garishly dressed halfling. "I think we can dispense with the shackles", he says, and a quick wave and magic word later, the offending iron falls to the floor. All by themselves, the shackles get up and drift over to another door. The door opens and the shackles are gone with its closing. For a minute, the halfling looks with penetrating eyes at the young thief without speaking. "So. Think you can think of someone else other than yourself?" Leopold has the distinct feeling this halfling, brimming with magical power, will know any lie.
Saldeyre Village Crag stomps along the dirt track the locals call a highway. The Woldian League of Adventurers "office" was a corner table in the only tavern with one grizzled human missing a leg nursing a jack of flat beer. "Ain't much agoin on round here", he spits, "Gennerally, I sends mah messages to Plateau City. They gots themselves there awl the records an stuff." Very unhelpful, but the old man did tell Crag directions to the Plateau City WLA headquarters and what it looks like. And the cleric can't help but wonder if the old man wasn't as derelict as he seemed...

Fenton has more brains then common sense, the big dummy.
"Well, guess I'll just wait and see. I wonder what this surprise is. Probably just a bit of work, better be worth it, drag me all the way down here."
He watches the dock workers loading ships with a curious eye. "Never been to sea" he muses.

Tutorial on creating a Link in the Wold.
Use Link tags to create links to other pages in the Wold. Link tags are formed with the syntax displayed below. For purposes of demonstration the example is not entirely correct. (If it were, you would only be able to see the words "This takes you to Google.") Take the hyphens (-) out of things and it should work.
Remember to enclose your URL in quotation marks.

... Alemi blesses those who show kindnesses to the poor ...
Harvest Moon wraps her arms about the waist of the well-fleshed human woman before she can leave. "Thank you," she murmurs. The polearm, bereft of its steadying influence, loses its upstanding position with increasing velocity and clatters to the cobbles of the street. "Thank you. I am Harvest Moon. Thank you. I will never forget."
The young half-elf scoops the polearm up off the ground and backs in the direction in which the kindly human woman had pointed. One last time she waves before turning to rush off to where the Woldian League of Adventures must necessarily be.
Surely enough, a short ways away there is a stone building with a red door. Above the door is a sign hanging by an iron shank. This must be it. She has found it at last. A nervousness builds within her stomach as she approaches the door. What will she find within? What will these people be like? What will she do if they do not like her and send her away?
Without pause, though, Harvest Moon reaches up for the door handle. Without knock or prior leave, she opens the red door. The light from within catches her against the backdrop of the increasing dark of evening. In the room is another half-elf. Facing him is a halfling who appears very important and formidable despite his size.
"I am Harvest Moon," she says. "I have come to find the Woldian League of Adventurers. I was told by Thelonious Johnson that I might find a home in this place."

OoC: Chris, you need to Publish the google Doc first. To Publish go to the button in the upper right corner of the Doc. It will be labeled Share. Clicking that will drop down a menu, and one of the choices (if no the only choice) will be to "Publlish to the Web". Select that, and you should have a dialog come up with a Document Link. It is that Document Link that you need to give others permission to see your character sheet. It's that link that you use to construct the link here for your posts.

So barratore pivots on his heel and casts his gaze back the direction he had come from and from where everyone else was coming from. For somwhere up there at the beginning point would be someone from The League, or perhaps a League building.

Brom sits patiently. "By the gods, this is boring. What in the Wold is keeping him." He says aloud but to no one in particular. He decides that he has waited long enough for the old man and goes up to the door, opens it, and heads in.
Brom's appearance: Brom is an impressive human specimen standing well over six feet tall. He is large and muscular but not the muscle-bound meat-heads one would associate with someone of Brom's strength. He has light brown hair, which is two or three inches below his ears. He is average looking but a missing front tooth and a slightly crooked nose have damaged his good looks. He wears plain breeches, a wool long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up, which can be seen under his chainshirt. He has plain leather boots, a hooded cloak, and a large sword either carried or hung in a hanger on his back.

Leapold watches his chains remove themselves and walk themselves over through the door. Thats a neat trick he thinks to himself. When the halfling asks him the question he gets more serious.
He says "I certainly intend to try. I've had alot of time recently to think about what old man Marcus has been trying to teach me over the last few years, I see that it wasn't a kind of life that would end well for me. I've never been able to see a way out from where I was, the people I used to work for don't let you just walk away. I would like to make a new start in Rum. Marcus says I have skills that could be useful there, but he said ah..."That I need to let the WLA channel my energies into something constructive."
When the door opens three times and people enter in quick succession he says "Seems like it just got very busy in here."

Plateau City In rapid succession, Leopold is joined in the WLA foyer by Crag Hammerfist, Harvest Moon, and Peza Tefani. Brom gets sick and tired of waiting outside after the fourth person goes into the red door and heads in himself. Standing on a desk, the only piece of furniture in the room, is a garishly-dressed Halfling who seems to already be in a conversation with the thin human standing in front of the desk. Behind the desk is the large grizzled figure of an older man who looks a lot like Brom; his Uncle Ben.
The Halfling concludes his interview with Leopold. "Marcus, eh?" (Behind him on a desk, a quill makes a note on a sheet of paper). "Constructive Energies, eh?" (Another note) "Yes, I think we can help you with that little problem." It has been over 10 minutes that Leopold and the Halfling have been talking, and suddenly the Halfling stabs a finger in the rogue's direction. "You are Geased to escort the WLA group to the City of Rum. Once you are on the docks of the City of Rum, you are released." (Leopold Will DC 22 to not be Geased).
The Halfling then turns to the others. " Seeking adventure and experience? On advice from mentors and relatives? Wanting to learn how to combat evil, in all its deadly forms, and protect the innocent? This is what the League of Woldian Adventurers does. We strive to be politically neutral to better help those innocents live a peaceful life. We gather local knowledge and information to better support those who need our support. We have outposts in almost every reasonably sized settlement. And we need one in the new city of Rum.
The WLA is organizing to have a large visible presence in Rum. Sal Theringer is to be the outpost commander, but it will take up to a year to get all the details complete before the main contingent will arrive. Already there are rumors of claim-jumpers taking land in Rum before the arrival of the Army of FIxers. It is urgent that the WLA have an immediate presence to keep their planned land staying in their hands. Should you want it, that is your job."
Uncle Ben rumbles from the back. "Took you long enough to take the initiative, Brom. Now that you are here, you are in."
The Halfling frowns at Uncle Ben. "His decision, Ben, you know that."
South Harbor
Iron Shot Tom gets tired of waiting in the very crowded harbor area. The fishing scows at pier 5 look less like a 3-master than a pile of floatsam: Fenton didn't know what he was talking about. Still, "Iron Shot" isn't the type of bloke who gives up easily, and keeps looking around the docks for anything that looks like a group of adventurers or a WLA ship. Finally, a harbormaster comes over , shivying Iron Tom and other layabouts off of his docks. "There's work to be done me lads. Hire yourselves on to a ship, a warehouse crew, a drover caravan. Go to the One Mile Inn and sign up with the WLA for all I care, just get off my docks!"
Barratore wades out of the crowded streets of South Harbor and is able to get to the outskirts of town. Up ahead, a door to a building swings open and two young human toughs get tossed out on their ear. A thin, scarred man stands in the doorway dusting his hands off. "No fighting. You were warned." The man turns on his heel and walks back in.
The toughs get themselves up and stagger past Barratore. "Stuck up Woldian League, who does he think he is. Grumble, grumble, grumble...." The sign above the door has a frothy mug and a bunch of purple grapes with some words underneath. (If Barratore can read Highlight to display spoiler: {One Mile Inn}

Crag looks around at the people he may have to entrust his life to, and then takes a second wary look at Leopold. He steps forward "Sounds like my kinda thing. Travel and protecting those that need it. I am in."

Harvest Moon /Al d20+6=19 Monday June 20th, 2011 3:23:01 PM
Who could imagine that such things could happen merely upon stepping into a room? Adventure? Combating Evil? A job? In a new city of Rum. It is difficult to believe that this halfling includes her in a group that might do such things.
Rather than speak and possibly draw attention to herself, Harvest Moon hurries to take a place behind the one that the halfling had geased with escorting the adventurers and evil combaters to the new city, the man he had named Marcus.
Without a word, she stands. Without a move she stands. With luck, the halfling will not see her, and she will simply be able to follow the others without notice. But there are two very possibly insurmountable problems. The first is the form of Marcus. He is very thin. Possibly too thin to hide her. The second is the polearm. It is much taller than he. Its hooked rises up above his head and most surely gives away the presence of someone behind.
But, perhaps if she is very still. Slowly, Harvest Moon leans to one side. From behind the form of Marcus she peers at the halfling. Perhaps, despite all things, he will not notice. There are, after all, many people here. He must be quite busy.

As the ship pulls into dock, he watches as the deck crew scurry around tying the ship up. He quickly helps lower the last sail and secure it. He then slides down a rat line and scurries below deck. He gathers his few belonging and starts saying goodbye to the many friends he made while on board. He will miss this life but with the ship needing repairs, he knows it is a good time to finally look up this fighting organization his Uncle Sorfa keeps pushing him to do.
He walks down the gangplank and confidently strides off with the directions to the WLA in his head. He dodges around the big folk as he makes his way into South Harbor. Many people double take as they look at Gerox. Gerox is a gnome with green hair and peach colored skin. His large violet eyes attract the most attention but it is his confident saunter and air of confidence that helps him from getting trampled.

Plateau City
Crag takes a wary look at Leopold, but is firm. He's in.
Harvest Moon tries to hide behind Leopold whom she thinks of as Marcus, willing to go wherever these others will go.
Brom wonders if any of this group can handle a weapon? But as long as his Uncle Ben has taught him how to fight, he's in.
Leapold is Geased but doesn't feel any different; after all, that's where he is intending to go anyways! "So when do we leave?"
Peza worries about getting Geased, but the halfling shakes his head. "Just a precaution on someone who has the best intentions, but not the best track record", chuckles the Halfling. "I'll not worry about the rest of you, coming with good recommendations and all."
Uncle Ben chuckles like a bag of rocks grinding together. "Not my adventure, boy. Live or die by your own sword and the blood of your shield-brothers." And with that, the grizzled warrior turns on his heel and leaves out a side door.
The halfling stands with arms and legs akimbo. "So, five, eh? I'll bet Sal has been able to get a couple more by the time to get to South Harbor to meet him. So... As probationary Leaguers, I'm giving each of you 3 days rations and travelling chits to stay at WLA hostels from here to South Harbor. Stay together and find Sal Theringer."
"South Harbor is jam-packed with people because of the Fixer Fleet preparing to sail. Therefore, Sal Theringer is collecting his team at a Hostel outside of South Harbor. The hostel is called the One Mile Inn. Go there, find Sal Theringer, and get on his team."
Packs are provided and the group of five young men and women are dismissed.
Having nothing better to do than to follow directions, the group takes three days of good walking before coming up on the One MIle Inn in the early afternoon.
South Harbor ... (Morning)
Lemick arrives on the outskirts of a busy South Harbor. There are many more masts than he remembers in the harbor, many more drovers, animals, and peole.... lots of people. Looking at himself, he tries to look less grimy, dirty, and weapon-toting than he currently is and looks for someone who may know the WLA. It takes a half-dozen tries, but finally the armored human asks a waggoneer. "Yep, I jus delivered a load a hay to the One Mile Inn, and theys a feller from the Woldian League whosa been there fer a spell. Cain't miss the badge belike."
"Iron Shot" makes his way off the docks, and approaches one of the layabouts. "Drink on me if ya take me there." The slovenly wastrel actually thinks it over before considering a free drink worth a mile's walk through the crowded streets, then shrugs. "Come wif me", he slurs and leads Tom uphill. "It's a mile inland, y'ken? The One Mile Inn?" The wastrel laughs himself hoarse by the time "Iron Shot" and he make it to the innyard.
Barratore keeps a watchful eye on the figures tossed out of the establishment. He opens the door and walks in, his horns banging the heavy beamed ceiling and the relative darkness compared to the outside all but blinding him.
Gerox bids the battle scarred sloop called "The Lady" farewell and makes for the gangway and docks. "The Lady"s sailingmaster, a human called Rhoop calls out and jumps rail after the gnome. "Just got word. There's a temporary Woldian League of Adventurers post at the One Mile Inn. The one in town is too crowded for any business. Go see Captain Sal Theringer." With the directions to the WLA in his head, he easily dodges through the crowd and gets to the One Mile Inn just after the suns nooning.
South Harbor ... (Noon/Afternoon)
In the course of half a day, eight young adventurers arrive at the One Mile Inn. It is a sturdy 2-story stucco and thatch building with a large walled and flagstoned enclosure that is on the side. Stables, corrals, and space for tents (several occupied) are further on. All in all, this seems to be a clean and prosperous establishment.
Clean too. A water pump with animal trough and washing trough are in the main yard, the flags canted so any splashed water goes downhill to a midden surrounded by bullrushes and willow trees.
And as the group of 5 from Plateau City, and the four individual travellers come into the relatively crowded Inn, they each inquire after the WLA and one Sal Theringer. By this time, the InnKeep and staff know the Captain, and the young adventurers are sent out to a smaller courtyard in the back.
There sits a lean, weatherbeaten and scarred warrior with longsword and handaxe on either hip. They look worn, well-cared for, and much more accostumed to being in those hands than the paper and quill that are currently on the table with a pitcher of beer and a mug. The man doesn't say much, just raises fingers and makes sure that the travellers get drink and food and a place to sit out of the Springtime sun...
And waits. (Sense Motive Dc 10 Highlight to display spoiler: { The man is studying the new heroes, weighing and assessing}...Sense Motive DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: {The man is waiting to see who's gonna talk first, identify the impatient ones.}
Harvest Moon is agog. A new pack. They have given her a real pack. It has many pockets, and sturdy straps that can be adjusted to different lengths. And the journey from Plateau City to South Harbor provides even more evidence of bounty. Food! Never had she seen so much food available with so little effort. At first she had collected every available scrap left by the others at every meal, but soon found that she had no space to carry it all. And water, enough water to wash with at least once a day. By entering that red door, she had somehow come through to a place of heavenly bounty.
During the journey to South Harbor, Harvest Moon had also come to know the four others who had joined the League of Adventurers along with her. She had come to find, for example, that the half-elf man who she had stood behind was not named Marcus, but Leopold. Marcus was only a missionary that he had known. She was very interested in the dwarf named Crag Hammerfist. Apart from never having seen a dwarf before, he was the only one shorter than she. The woman, Peza, though human, was the only other woman aside from herself. Harvest walked beside her much of the time, though said little, having little that came to her mind to speak about. Brom, Harvest thought, was so very very tall and fierce looking.
Harvest arrives in South Harbor with an almost entirely different outlook than she had upon entering Plateau City. It is quite striking what the company of others - of companions - can do. She wears the hood of her robe down, no longer hiding within its folds.
Now, standing within the beautiful courtyard of this palatial inn, Harvest considers the man who in turn considers herself and the others. Four had seem to join as well, and this man, this Sal Theringer now observes them, weighing their mettle. Not to be found lacking, Harvest grips her polearm more firmly and stands with greater weight and solidity as Thelonious had taught her. (Sense Motive 13)

Still Gerox never refuses a free meal. He ambles over and stretches to grab a pitcher of ale. He pours himself one and then hands out more to the others as they come to the table, introducing himself quietly to them all.
He is tempted to put himself forward but something holds him back. He knows that the bigger folk don't like a gnome taking charge. Offends them more often than not. He holds back until he can figure out this group and their motivations and thinking.

The quiet is broken by a human girl named Peza and a human boy named Leapold. They are deferential, offering thier names and asking for information.
The older man's mouth turns up in a small smile. "Quiet, respectful, looking for the situation. All good plans when you don't know what is going on." He pauses to make sure that he has everyone's attention. "I'm Sal Theringer, Captain of the Woldian League of Adventurers Rum Outpost. It is my job to organize a WLA expedition to the new planned city of Rum and establish this outpost. I've been asking WLA contacts to find some young, eager people with some good grounding in a range of skills and possessing moral fiber to consider being a team for the new outpost. "After that, I guess what you expect of us is a good place as any to start.". He rubs his chin, seeing if there's anything else to ask.
Such a feeling of pride had swelled within Harvest Moon's breast when Leapold had named her along with the others. They would go to Rum together. Once in Rum they would ... have adventures? A frown comes to the half-elven girl as she sits now near Peza eating soft warm bread with sharp orange cheese. What would they do? What does it mean to be politically neutral? To gather local knowledge is easy enough to understand. But it does not sound very adventurous. What does a team of Woldian League of Adventurers do?

The WLA has a ship ,the "SeaSprite", that will take the initial outpost crew to Rum. It consists of builders, traininers, organizers, and the ship's crew. And I need 'troubleshooters'."
And, as both humans plus Harvest Moon are interested in 'expectations', Captain Theringer lays out a plan. "I'm well known here, and will be in Rum, and I have to stay at the outpost to coordinate everything the WLA is wanting to do. I will not be able to get out and see and hear what is going on. I will not be able to drop everything in a city-level meeting to rescue a farm from orcs or ferret out a blackmarket. The WLA is meant to protect the innocents, often with sword and spell. But I, the head of the WLA, won't be able to do that. I need to have eyes and ears where I am not, an arm where it is needed. And THAT is what I want you to do."

Barratore nods, he decides he likes this human. there was a certain annoyance to his voice and mannerism when speaking of how he would not be able to take care of orcs and other seedy wrong doers. Metascar had told him of the Leagues Honor and first impressions meant much to teh young minotaur. He had his passage and passport into the League, he would become one of Metascars legends he would wield his weapons and honor in combat and make his clan proud to speak his name. Barratore Snorts loudly and states in a deep barratone "I am in."
Never overly detailed conscious, but he would listen to what the others asked and spoke of. There was little more he could do to ready himself regardless of the outcome of the questions, but he would listen.

Food provided! A place to sleep! And no need to fight for either! Ten ships! One hundred feet long! The stunning parade of fantastical details swims and swirls in the mind of Harvest Moon. How can such things be real? How can they be happening to herself? Boo Moon?
"Did you hear, Peza? We will be riding on an very very large boat!"
The rest, troubleshooters, sword and spell, all of this is as meaningless as the wind in a storm. This is adventure. They are things that cannot truly be known until one comes upon them. One can only live one's life, and meet all things as they come. If one passes through, and still remains alive, then one will gain some understanding.
"Yes, I will go!" Harvest Moon stands too, as the others begin declaring their intent. Her hand shoots up into the air, then sweeps like a striking hawk to catch the falling chunk of bread as it falls from her now vanished lap. (Reflex 20) Through her head the storm still rages, carrying on its winds the song of adventure.

He takes one more look at the assembled group that was to become his squad, and nods slightly.
"I am still in" he calls out.

Gerox watches and listens as the others start volunteering and he stands up and glares around him at the others. "Are you people insane or just stupid! Most of us have just met a couple of days ago or just a few minutes ago. Now we are going to get on a ship, travel six months from our families, and and be put into a hostile situation where we are going to be "trouble shooters"." Gerox starts pointing at the group with a scornful look. "We have elves, a dwarf, humans, a big shaggy minotaur and even a gnome. Lets face it, groups that haven't always mixed well together and we are going to be trusting our lives in each other. "Troubleshooters is WLA speak for expendable assets. We are going to be watching each others backs, and most likely burying some of us before we are through. Are we ready for this?
Gerox face breaks into a grin. He pumps a fist into the air, shoots a ball of fire into the sky and says, I am! Sounds like fun! Sign me up!

Smiling at Havest Moons exuberence .... " yes .. its going to be exciting ..... i've never been on a real ship like that either .... just a few of the water taxi's in plateau city ..."
" but the best part is we're going to need to get a few things for the trip to make it more comfortable ... and things to do for the journey ... its going to be six months ... so time to do a little shopping " laughs Peza to Havest Moon
With a wide grin she turns to Captain Theringer " i'm In too !!! .... any helpful hints of things we might need to bring along ??" ..... inquires the raven haired girl
From the corner of her eye, Harvest Moon spies the gripping in one hand a pendant threaded upon a cord about his neck. He is very interesting as, at the same time, he turns a shiny coin over and over and over in his hands. It is the coin that catches the attention of Harvest Moon. But two other things also become readily apparent to her eager eye. Tentatively she approaches.
"Hello. I am Harvest Moon," she says, introducing herself. "You are thinking perhaps that you will not go to Rum? I know your symbol. It is Waard. Am I not right? You should go. You should go with us. You will be lucky for us." By this time, Harvest Moon is taking the man's arm. Under her fingers she feels the links of chain armor. "Come sit with Peza and I."
"Come. Come with me." She tugs more insistently, drawing the armored adherent of Waard to the place where sits and the impossibly tall Polearm leans against the wall. "We will need you. And we will be adventurers together."

At the proclamation that he is a 'shaggy' minotaur, Barratore stands and the growl ends with a violent snort and one great hoof slides acorss the ground as a bull might do before charging. Several thoughts and challenges race through his mind and before he can formulate a responce other than crushing the man, Gerox gets through the dry witted humor. Teeth grinding and feeling slightly foolish and still quite full of adrenaline, Barratore finds himself at a loss at what to do.
The ability to quickly calm down was never a strong trait. Staying angry and breaking things, that he was good at. Not doing so, certainly not and so more moments pass and still he simply stands ther, his mind working in slow motion. Embarassment building and no way out of it. Intolerable, his eyes dart for an escape from this self imposed hell...

Gerox's eyes go wide as Barrtore steps forward and Peza steps in-between them. Gerox nimbly grabs another pitcher of ale and walks over to the minotaur. He looks up at the beast who is literally almost three times his size and then down at the pitcher. He forgoes the glass and just hands the whole pitcher to the fighter. "My apologies friend. I meant no disrespect, but only meant to lighten the mood. I hope you don't hold a grudge! If we are going to be on the seas for 6 months, I don't want to have to sleep in the crows nest the entire voyage."
Gerox turns back to the Captain and asks, "Six months is a long time at sea. I assume we are going to be making stops for provisions along the way. Do you know where we are stopping?"
Brom (RichP); AC: 16 (T 12, FF 14), CMD: 18; HP: 15 Friday June 24th, 2011 10:47:40 PM
"I do have one question," Brom says after the others start to accept the offer, "Does it pay any sides room and board?" He says with after swallowing a large mouthful of whatever drink is at the table. "Don't get me wrong, offer sounds great, but don't buy ale and don't keep me sword and armor working good. Sounds like this trouble-shooting not gonna be swerving tea and cake to the locals." He says looking around the room. "We gettin' some coins from WLA or we keep what we find?"
It is as though there is a high and howling wind sweeping through her mind. The people, the pictures, all of the events of the recently played out past sweep and swirl about, tumbling and scattering in a confusing tumult that is, in some glorious fashion, so very exciting.
"Peza is being attacked!"
True danger has a feel. One knows it when in its presence. It is like the feel of the air before a storm. There seems none of that feeling here.
"Come. Comecomecomecome." Harvest Moon pulls the cleric of Waard to a place where they might present a united front with Peza. She takes a defensive stance as she had been taught, with her fists balled and visible. Her eyes flick to the polearm, leaning against the wall. Oh that she had it now in her hands. It is big, and looks so very fierce. Those were her exact thoughts when she pulled it from the muck of that field as she made her way to Plateau City. That she still, to this day, has had no cause to use it, seems immaterial. It would be very impressive, and that is what is important now.

They have a tendency to pull limbs from their sockets." (Had to use it. Seemed like a perfect scenario for the quote.) He then looks to Harvest holding her polearm. "Are you sure you know how to use that thing? Maybe you should put that pig-sticker down before someone gets stuck."
"Come on folks we're here to make some coin, see the world, and not die a horrible death. Let turn it down a bit. It's gonna be a long journey."

"The name is Lemick 4-Leaf Sted, and I do chance drawing the luck of Wardd for myself and those around me." He pauses wondering how much more he'll announce to Harvest Moon when things get tense between others present.
Considering this could turn bad real quick among people that should be friends if they are going to be battling orcs as well as being in close confines for weeks, Lemick considers how to end things without anyone loosing face.
He grabs a mug and stands himself where he had previously been sat, "I propose a toast, that bestows the luck of Wardd on those that drink to it. To the tallest among us looking to the minotaur , may he warn us of danger to come, and to the shortest among us looking to the gnome, may he also warn us of danger to come and may our talents gain the eye of Wardd as our luck in Rum impresses even him with the number of orcs slain and treasure gained. To friendship unlike any the WLA has seen before!
He stands tall knowing attention has turned to him, and as each takes his/her cup in acceptance, they feel the blessing of Wardd wash over them. (cast bless)

Rum Pre-Module:Sal's Answers (DMSteveK) Sunday June 26th, 2011 1:58:15 PM
Captain Sal Theringer is sure a strange sort of person-in-charge. Amidst the declarations, anger, and soothing, he doesn't even move from his spot; lounging in a chair near the table under a tree. Like a litter of puppies that wrestle and gnaw and establish thier pecking order, the WLA Captain lets the group get used to each other and waits for any questions or thoughts to be sent HIS way.
"There are stops along the way", he tells Brom, "none of the ships would be able to keep 6 months of stores on board. I'm not a sailor, so the captain of the Sea Sprite would know better exactly what the planned ports are. Since the islands that Rum is going to be are to the far West, I would expect the fleet to go near Alisidur and the Taur Isles at least."

Barratore nods and begins moving to a single knee, so as to be ona closer talking plane with Peza. "I am Barratore of the Starlight clan. An honor to meet you." Casting an eye towards Gerox, Barratore is about continue when the other woman moves quickly to Peza and takes a fighting stance.
A challenge? The minotaur eyes the woman up and down. No, he decides she is not challenging him. Perhaps some form of bond with Peza. One mistake already, he'll let this go easily enough. Females were odd creatures to say the least.
Standing again, he takes the pitcher from Gerox, "Consider the matter forgotten. I ask your forgiveness for my rash reaction."
Turning as Lemick speaks he hoists the pitcher and puts most of it down his throat.
The Taur Isles, it would be nice to see the homeland. Only stories from his fathers fater had ever been told of the isles and the long history. Stories Barratore paid little attention to as they were simply rather boring to the martially driven youngster. Still he felt his heart lifted at the mere prospect of setting foot upon them. Perhaps he could convince the captain to make port if he did not already intend to.

Tom watches the exchange between the minotaur and the gnome. Were he a betting man, he'd give good odds on the minotaur. Then he remembers that he is a betting man.
Fortunately, before he open his mouth and likely get himself into trouble, Lemick proposes a toast. Nodding in appreciation, he raises his glass, hoping that the matter is settled between the gnome and the minotaur.
"Yip!" Harvest Moon leaps straight up, striking downward into the air with her fist. When she lands there is the broadest of grins upon her face. It is all so very exciting. All of this. Harvest Moon takes Peza's hands, and, reaching way up on the tips of her toes, she whispers in the human girl's ear. "He is lucky. He is from Waard. I new that he would be lucky."
Nearby, she can feel the size of the minotaur. He is so very big. He is there, kneeling when she looks over her shoulder. In some ways he appears much bigger when he is kneeling, closer to her, closer to the ground. He has such a large head. With big horns. His ears are like those of a cow or horse. He has a big snout with the large nose holes of a bull. And his eyes, they are so large and darkly beautiful with the lashes of the most impossible length.
"oh." The small word comes involuntarily to Harvest Moon's lips, so very close to Peza's ear. And then Harvest Moon spies a nearby table. Slowly, and though with caution, the half-elven girl inches her way to the table, her eyes every locked on the minotaur, Barratore of the Starlight clan. When she reaches the table, she fumbles for the largest of the stoneware mugs. The smell of the amber drink is strongly of yeast. The weight of it in her two hands moves from side to side. It is the liquid that sloshes as she moves from the table to the Barratore of the Starlight clan and raises it up for him to take.
"I am Harvest Moon," she says, as she offers up the large mug of ale. "An honor to meet you," she continues, putting his words to use for herself.

"Payment for the trip and establishing the WLA location in Rum will be free induction into the WLA, which is worth 1000 gold each, and the associated training which many consider priceless. If you don't want induction at the end of this trip, we'll pay 500 gold severance, and you may stay in Rum or book passage back, whatever you want." Captain Sal Theringer gives each of the group a bit of a flinty stare. "Finders keepers within reason for other treasures. Pirate booty is legitimate loot, for example, but crime will not pay."
An innservant comes into the private courtyard, loaded down with crusty loaves, bunches of multi-colored grapes and a bowl of berries, crocks of soft white cheese blended with dill or hot peppers, and a couple of pitchers; one filled with water, one with a light cider. He also hands a scrap of paper to Captain Sal who reads it and scowls.
"I've got to do some coordination. Your common meals are paid for here in the One Mile Inn, and there are two tents with the WLA badge near the corral with cots for sleeping. Baths, laundry, general store, or exercise yard can be had by asking one of the servants."
The servant tugs on Captain Theringer's sleeve urgently. The grizzled warrior sighs and rolls his eyes, but is already striding to the door. A second later and he is off.
The heroes seem to have a feast and the afternoon to themselves...
The great mug nearly slips from her upraised hands, nearly spilling a torrent of ale atop her own head.
Payment? One thousand gold? Baths and laundries and more food than she has ever seen before! She has stumbled into the company of people of unimaginable wealth.
Harvest Moon attempts to turn her head, craning her neck to follow the back of the Woldian League Captain as he walks with very long and heavy strides out the door.
"Barratore of the Starlight clan," she says, her voice coming strained with the effort of contorting her body in two directions at once, "do you wish the mug of drink?"

He looks around at the others and says, "I know we will have a long voyage to learn about each other in detail but it seems we are going to be a team. Maybe we should take a few minutes to tell a bit about ourselves. Our skills and abilities at least and maybe a partial history?
I will go first to break the ice. My name is Gerox Shale and I come from a large family of jewelers. While I enjoy cracking and polishing a gem and putting it into a setting as much as the next guy, I found sitting behind a counter waiting on the over indulged a bit boring so I went to sea. The last couple of years I have been learning the trade of the sea and enjoying it but my powers starting to come in. Seems I have a talent for magic. Don't even have to study. Spells seem to just pop into my brain. I found out that sailing after you learn all the knots can be a bit tedious too but slinging spells at evil doers is very exciting and I hear it can be more profitable too.
My Uncle is a upstanding member of the WLA and recommended that I hone my skills here with comrades whom I can trust not to be glad to have me in the company just because I am the slowest runner. They can get away while the enemy hacks me to pieces. I have a good feeling about you folks. I know we just met but I think our group can be something special. I am sure I will be proud to call you my comrades and you never need worry that I will run out on you. Ahhh I guess that is it. Anyone else want to go?"

Seeming slightly nervous, obviously something unusual for the Dwarf. "This whole pirates and ships and water thing.... I'm for keeping me feet on solid ground. A ships solid enough as long as it ain't sinking or falling apart, but as far as water goes...Dwarves sink."
Rum Pre-Module: Snack and Abilities (DMSteveK) Tuesday June 28th, 2011 5:27:34 PM
With Captain Sal Theringer gone, the group gets down to eating and learning a little about themselves. None yet ask the servants of any requests or information.
Harvest Moon is agog with the wealth that she has found herself in. All the food she could want? A bath and bed to sleep in every night? A THOUSAND gold? Two gold seem like a hoard to the girl from the poor side of the track. It's like the WLA is offering her a doorway to palatial living.
Crag is worried about dwarves and deep water. Even without a hundred pounds of armor, arms, and equipment on him, the dwarf wouldn't swim very well. With it... well, add a long rope and he would make a passable anchor!
Peza fantasizes about pirates and sailing on the open ocean. She enjoys the food with obvious enthusiasm.
Gerox lets his mouth go and talks and eats alternately satisfying his two biggest needs. The gnome, being a veteran of sailing, understands that one of the most important things on a ship is keeping your footing. Without being relatively agile (ie Acrobatics skill), the best some people were able to do was just hold on the pitching, slippery, sloping deck. And THAT was in GOOD weather...

Feeling more comfortable that he thought among random strangers and non-humans, Lemick counts the number of colleagues in this adventure. Numbers hold power and determine what type of luck or miss-luck is around the corner. Anyone looking can see Lemick is counting various things -- swords, humans, dwarves, little folks, big folks, etc.
Eventually he rejoins the group, having already said his talents for the group.

Captain Sal Theringer leaves and informs the group they have the run of the place and one thing in particular. Barratore waves a servant over. "Excuse me Captain Theringer mentioned the general store, what provisions can be had there? Specifically I want to see to acquiring a Longbow of appropriate size."
To the gathered group, Barratore speaks, I am Barratore Steelwind of the Starlight clan and have thus far spent my life in the training of combat and warfare. With the gods blessing I will continue that training in and about the area of Rum with you."
Harvest Moon steps back first one pace, then another. On her face is a rather pleased smile. It is a rather proud smile. He had accepted the mug. It was nice.
And then the smile falls. What can she say? She has no skills? None to match these very fierce and capable people. Nothing that they would be interested in.
"I think ... I think that I would like to see the ocean," she says. Her voice sounds very small in her own ears. "I ... Has anyone swam in the ocean before? Could you teach us? Come, Crag Hammerfist." Harvest takes hold of the dwarf's arm and begin pulling him to where her polearm leans against the wall. "You can learn how to swim. We can both learn."
Breaking off from the dwarf Harvest Moon snatches her polearm from the wall. "I will learn," she says, and then heads with determination for the door. "But first ... " come the her last words before exiting through the door " ... I must find the sea."

"I'll just toss ya and the dwarf on my shoulders and we can run away together. And if that don't work," his face get serious,"I'll see ya in the Land of Rest, 'cause if they've caught you they've already killed me." He holds his straight face for a moment before he can't keep any longer before once again bursting into laughter. "Don't fret, little guy, Brom's gonna keep ya safe. Come on, let's drink."

"Hold on girl. Learning to swim sounds like it might be a wise idea, but wandering off at night to find the ocean doesn't seem so wise. Just ask the serving folks where it be, and relax yourself tonight. In the morning, when there be light to see by, perhaps someone here will teach you to swim. And perhaps i will consider it as well. Doesn't seem natural for a Dwarf to be swimming though."

Tom enjoys the reverie with his new found companions. He shares his story, such as it is. A comfortable farm life, a few years on the road now and the adventures he's had. As the day wears on his thoughts start to drift. It seems although whats before him is as grand an adventure as can be. Never did he think he'd find himself at the edge of such a thing. He finds it more intoxicating than the ale's he's been drinking. And a little scary, though he doesn't show it.
Eventually though his thoughts turn to more practical things as Harvest mentions swimming.
"We should all learn to swim a bit, seems a little foolish not too. I wonder if the WLA can help with that? If not, I can show anyone that want's some pointers, there was a watering hole on my families farm we used to swim in.
We should also see to things like arrows, bolts and sling stones. I'll need more myself for six months. Running out if there's pirates is no good. "
He inquires about places to purchase weaponry from the stewards, seeing if they have any suggestions.
If the day hasn't gotten too long, he goes with Harvest and whoever wants to go swim, showing whatever pointers he can.
Rum Pre-Module: Snack and Abilities (DMSteveK) Wednesday June 29th, 2011 12:37:08 PM
The servant, a affable but forgettable young man, leads Barratore and anyone interested to a side room off the master Inn hall that is a small place to stand with a counter. The man gets behind the counter and puts on an apron. "Now sirs and ma'ams, what can I get for you? We don't sell any weaponry or armors here, only general items that travellers can make use of. (ooc: You can purchase anything non-masterwork from the normal "Adventuring Gear" and "Food, Drink, and Lodging" lists in the Pathfinder Corebook)
The same servant answers the questions about other goods. "South Harbor has some good weaponsmiths of various kinds, but it is quite busy in town right now. I don't see how anyone could get a business transaction fisished before the fleet sails."
....
A middle-aged woman who comes in for empty plates and to refill pitchers tries to fill in Peza on the fleet and Captain Theringer. "Rumor is all the nations and many of the guild-companies are in together on the investing, planning, and building of a new city off the western edge of the ocean. They call it Rum, which I think is short for Random Uncaring Management. It's hard enough to get three people to agree on what to order for dinner, how much harder is it going to be to run a whole city? Harumph. At least they seem to be going at it the right way. A whole army of Fixers! The things that these nobles can do! They can't stand still and have been 'Fixing' South Harbor for the past month while waiting for supplies to come in. The roads, roofs, and rails have never looked better!"
"And the WLA is involved too. That's good. Now, I don't know much about them, but that Captain Theringer has been staying with us for nigh on a month himself. Quiet man, but if he says he'll do something, he does it, no worrying about words not matching actions with him. I seen him out in the corral, too, a practicing with his swords. Never seen anyone move that fast in all my born days. If that is the type of people that will make sure the common folk of Rum have peace, then I'm all for the WLA."
...
Brom and Peza do a little arm wrestling. (d20 + Strength Total = winner)
"Yes. Very well, Crag Hammerfist," she says. Now more sedate, her enthusiasm of but a moment ago dampened by the fear that she might now be expelled for having none of the skills or prowess possessed by the others, Harvest Moon retreats to a quiet corner.
She leans the polearm against the wall, and folds herself into the angled niche where the two walls meet, and draws her legs up so that her knees may be clasped by her arms. From there, she watches the others.

The affable man in an apron serves Peza and Gerox, and is more than happy to package and have a runner take the packages to the SeaSprite for Peza's generous tip. (P&G: reduce your money accordingly)
The nondescript man muses while putting together the packages. "Well, I haven't heard any talk about really cold or really hot. I guess that means the islands are pretty much the same weather as around here. You know, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Since they say it will take the fleet 6 months to get there and it is a beautiful Spring Afternoon right now, you will probably be getting there in the Fall." He shrugs as if that bit of thinking was almost too hard for him.
"You are very kindly, Peza Tefani," Harvest Moon replies. "I will try to help if I am able."
And then a bold plan births within her brain. It is an outrageous plan, with dangers equal to the rewards. If she is sent away from the Woldian League of Adventurers, she could find the boat, and she could sneak aboard. Would it be possible? And what if they found her when the boat is many many miles out in the sea? She would never be able to swim that far and return to land.
But, if they did not, she would then be carried to Rum. She would be with the others. Perhaps then they would take her in. It could work. The only question that remains to be answered is, would it be right?
Instead of speaking of her plan, though, Harvest Moon rises from the corner and places her elbow upon a nearby table. "Would you like to play that game, Peza Tefani?" she asks. It does not seem a terribly difficult game. Though it is instinctively clear to the small half-elven girl that greater weight and strength provide a distinct advantage.

Lemick walks around and watches, after his days of walking in a seemingly random direction, his feet are making their point known that it shouldn't become a habit.
He watches are some order supplies planning all the little details for the coming adventure, while other play about. Being fairly solitary, he's just as comfortable sitting back and watching as participating.
To no one in particular, he thinks aloud to him, "In two days time, the wind will take us. With luck it will speed up to our destination."
Finding a place in the shade, he sits. "With luck to me, I share to others," he whispers. With his left hand, he digs a small hole and palms a gold coin into it, then with the same motion, buries it.
"I will do so, then ... Crag," says Harvest Moon, speaking the one name as though it is more difficult then two. "My mother would call me 'Boo' Moon. But she has passed." Harvest is momentarily silent, her mind on the feeble-minded elf who loved and raised her child in the wild and impoverished Contested Kingdoms. "Thelonious gave the name 'Harvest' to me," she says then, picking up from where she had momentarily left off. "He is the one who taught me how to fight."
"You should please call me ... " The face of the half-elfish girl draws down into a mask of thought, as though, having been confronted with the choice for the first time, she considers what she would like to be called. " ... please call me, Harvest. I would like that, please."
Then, she leans across the table, bringing her head in close to those of both Peza and Crag. Her voice is low and frightened when the question finally works its way loose and escapes. "Do you think that they will send me away? Captain Sal Theringer? When they find out that I do not have skills such as all of you have?"
Peza Thursday June 30th, 2011 10:10:08 PM

Lemick and Iron Shot speak of good fortunes and luck. Lemick speaks of the letters in the sky, a clear sign of Wardd.

What does one say to people who are so very kindly? Sometimes there are no words that can speak the feelings that are in one's heart. Harvest Moon wrings her hands. A sting comes to her eyes that waters her vision. A quiver comes to her lip as she says the only thing that she can say at this time.
"Thank you. You are so very kindly to me."
Whatever can she do to repay such? There is great joy in receiving the benevolence of others. But, at the same time, or so it just now occurs to Harvest Moon, there is also a great feeling of helplessness. The expression of deep thought that comes over Harvest Moon's face appears, in many ways, like one of dire distress.
"I know! I know what I shall do." Harvest Moon takes one hand of Peza's and one from Crag, transferring to each her enthusiasm through the touch of her hand. "Before I set out for Plateau City, Thelonious gave to me a book of many blank pages. On the first page he made a drawing of the way from our place in the Contested Kingdoms to the place of Plateau City." As she explains, Harvest rummages in the big compartment of her pack, finally producing a book which she lays upon the table and opens to the first page. There, as she described, is a rough map starting in the north, with a marked path that runs east skirting a large area marked as Culverwood: Steer clear, and then dropping down south after that to eventually meet with a circle labeled Plateau City, and including various and sundry markings for other hazards and geological features as well.
"I shall see to buying a map," says Harvest Moon. "We will follow our way from here in South Harbor until we arrive in Rum. Along the way, we can mark the many places that we find." More rummaging in her pack produces a stylus. "Now, we are ... here." Harvest places an 'X' at the southern end of the wart-like bump of land shared by the circle of Plateau City. Next to the "X" she writes: South Harbor: We start here.
At the counter in the small room off the master inn hall, Harvest places a small dirty bag that clinks with the coin within. "I would like to buy a map, please," she says. "It must show the land from here to Rum." When she opens the string that holds the bag shut a scattering of coins, copper, silver and gold, tumble to the countertop. A count would reveal twelve gold, nine silver and five copper.
"Will this be enough?"

Seeing as he has time, and that the water would feel good on his worn feet, Lemick heads towards the docks. "Well, Iron Shot, I think I'm going to head to the docks and sock these feet of mine. Rum Pre-Module: Equipment and Sparring (DMSteveK) Wednesday July 6th, 2011 2:02:41 PM Harvest and Crag visits the general store. When Harvest asks for a map to Rum, the non-descript worker looks lost. "I do have a map that you can look at and perhaps copy down, but the boss says it isn't for sale." He pulls out a large scroll and unrolls it on the table. Yrth . "I've been told this is all the land of the entire Wold", he says in an awed voice, and that most people only know about the land of the Elennian Penninsula. THIS is the Penninsula", he points to the bottom right side of the map where an almost-island is connected to the major land mass by a narrow mountain-filled neck. "And Rum is supposed to be HERE." And now he points to a small moon-shaped island in the middle of the map.
The man is confused for a minute or two, and then offers Crag to buy some waterskins. "You can blow them up with air and I bet they would float", he says brightly.
Brom finds a quiet corner off the Inn's main courtyard to take a nap.
Lemick announces his intent to check out the docks despite the great crush of people down there right now. Trusting in Wardd's Luck, he walks into the main courtyard intent on continuing on his way and down the hill through town and to the docks. As he walks out the main gate, a horse sidesteps, causing Lemick to smack into its chest. Looking up, he discovers it isn't a horse, but a Centaur in chainmail who looks down his nose at Lemick. "Watch yourself, human", he says coldly.
Barratore, Gerox, and Tom go to the main courtyard to loosen up with some practice. The minotaur is able to loosen up when he notices two humans in armor and swords lounging by the main gate. They are snickering and pointing... at Barratore.
Barratore Steelwind (Dan K) AC: 15 (T 11, FF 13), CMD: 18; HP: 16 Wednesday July 6th, 2011 7:09:56 PM
"Comrades in arms are always welcome." Barratore loosens up to get a sweat on and talks as he does so, "Colored lights that knock you out? Those must be some lights." He quickly holds up a hand, "Rest assured i believe you. While no sorcerors or wizards for that matter are part of my clan, my uncle Maris Stormcloud could perfomer such feats through song and demonstrated such things now and again."
Barratore draws nearly 8' of steel from the sheath and moves the weapon through a few large circles when he notices the humans pointing his way. The minotaur snorts as his eyes narrow to gauge them. He had already 'stepped in it' as his uncle Metascar would say once today and so he checks himself against his two companions.
"Perhaps we have sparring partners at the gate." Barratore glances down at Iron Shot, "Do you think a challenge would be order comrade?"
"It is not for sale?" Harvest Moon raises up on her tip toes to view the map as it is spread out across the counter. She turns and gives a wry smile to Crag standing nearby. And so, in ways such as this, are plans unravel. "Not for sale?" she repeats, as though stating it a second time will, in some inexplicable way, make it not so.
Worse yet, from the corner of her eye, Harvest Moon watches as the gnome ... Gerox Shale, was it ... goes off to play at combat with the dark-eyed minotaur, Barratore Steelwind. It is something that she would very much like to see. The follower of Waard also goes off, he in the direction of the docks. There would be swimming there. She would very much like to try her hand at swimming in the sea.
Harvest Moon turns her eyes back to the map. She had promised. With a sigh she watches as the others leave. Then she firms the expression upon her face, drawing determination from the act of exhibiting a look of determination. Then, taking book and stylus, the half-elven girl begins the tedious process of copying the map into her book.

" this should be intresting to see that massive Barratore swing his sword around .... bt Waard its bigger then me " ... says Peza aloud
With wave at Leapold ... " come on ... lets check it out "
Leapold HP 9/9 AC 17[T15][FF12] Wednesday July 6th, 2011 10:07:08 PM
Leapold walks out to the courtyard with Peza at the invitation. He watches those at practice with some interest, most were better with swords than he was. Straight up fights aren't my style he thinks to himself, Better to win before your opponent knows you are there.
He notices the guards at the gate and notices that Barratore see's them as well. Things are about to get interesting he thinks. If they want to provoke the Minotaur that's thier business as long as everything stays on the up and up. If it doesn't well, fighting dirty is something the young rogue is good at, and it might as well be time to try out this looking out for others Marcus was always telling him about.
Gerox Shale (George) Wednesday July 6th, 2011 10:17:06 PM
Gerox punches Barratore in the knee and says, "Let me handle this." He ambles over to the guards and says, "Excuse me sir but are you on duty? My friend is looking for a friendly bout and since his sword is twice as big as I am, he feels bad swinging it at me. If you would do us the honor, could you spar him? Of course it would be flat of the blade only? I know he looks scary but he is truly a kind fellow."
Gerox looks around and says, "Of course he does have a bit of a temper. He is very sensitive about his horns. If you don't mention his horns, I am sure you will have a good time." Back in a louder voice he says, "I will buy the first round after the match! What do you say? Are you up for it?"
Crag Hammerfist AC: 18, HP: 11/11, CMD: 13 Thursday July 7th, 2011 4:23:50 AM
Crag contemplates the possibility of a couple blown up waterskins keeping him afloat, and decides it's not likely. He sees Harvest start copying the map down and figures it will be a bit. "I'm going to get another drink Harvest. I'll be over there when you are done. Then perhaps we can look into this swimming thing."
"Iron Shot " Tom | HP 11/11 | AC 18/13/14 | CMD 18 Character Sheet (Troy) Thursday July 7th, 2011 9:07:53 AM
Tom follows over with Gerox, his hands crossed over his chest. He stares unblinking at the layabouts, the message unspoken: Mess with the bull, you get the horns.
"So", he says after several seconds. "since that is the end of the snickering, do you want to spar or not?"
Lemick 4-Leaf Sted/Anthony hp 9/9, ac 20/12/18 Thursday July 7th, 2011 11:03:54 AM "Watch yourself good sir, " Lemick blurts out to the man on the back of the horse before looking to see that it's indeed a centaur and not a human on horseback. "Ummm, pardon me," he then adds taking a step or two back. Bending down almost in half, Lemick takes a quick look underneath to confirm, before adding "sir"
Oh dear, have I offended. I wonder if he'd let me ride him to the bay?
Lemick was caught off guard day dreaming and looking forward to seeing the ships and the bay. How could he have missed such a big creature?
"I meant no offense, but was thinking of the ships and the water in the bay, I've never seen either and am soon to set off on quite an adventure helping the WLA defend the future city of Rum." Lemick looks up to the Centaurs face wondering if it is setting off on a similar quest.

...........
Harvest and Crag pore over the map of Yrth, copying as best they can all the details into Harvest's book. The better the copy, this could potentially be invaluable in the future! (ooc: how's your drawing skills? roll, take 10, or take 20)
Lemick checks, and it is indeed a 'sir', and wonders how best to not offend a person of such a different race. His best doesn't seem to be nearly good enough. The Centaur snorts; there is no other word for it, and pushes forward, knocking Lemick back into the courtyard. (ooc: Bull Rush, improved 27 vs 10 CMD = knockback 15 feet) Lemick goes stumbling backwards, catching himself just before he bumps into Barratore. "For someone who has never seen the water, you are very wet behind the ears", the Centaur says, dripping scorn. "You are a foal, not yet fit to muck stables."
Barratore, Gerox, and Tom are sizing up the two armored humans and offering them the opportunity to spar with the minotaur when Lemick is ignonimously thrust into the courtyard. The humans crack up laughing. "You see that, Duff?", says one. The other slaps the first on the back and says, "Ol' Dagada sure showed him. What if you got a pet cow?" he counters with Gerox, "And you even taught it to talk!" Barratore, having been in South Harbor, knows that these two do not have the livery of the Watch; they do not seem to be affiliated with anyone. The two push off from the wall into ready stances as if they are expecting Tom or Gerox to try something, thier hands are not near the sword hilts. (Sense Motive DC 10 Highlight to display spoiler: { they are in defensive fighting positions, and grinning like school bullies})
Peza and Leapold come out to watch Barratore, but instead find the minotaur, Tom, Gerox, and Lemick facing off against two laughing humans and a glaring centaur. They can also see others are gathering; some workers from the Inn, some guests, some people peering in from the roadway.
Anyone in the Courtyard... Perception DC 10 Highlight to display spoiler: { there is a fairly obvious human druid and a half-orc behind the centaur looking ready to intervene.} Perception DC 15 Highlight to display spoiler: { A half-elf in leather armor is lounging up on the roof of the stable, gleefully taking in the scene. }

Lemick re-balances himself and smiles at the Centaur attempting a different tactic. OOC: Perception: 10,8 Lemick sees the two ready to aide.
"Now your just being plain rude sir. If I had to guess, it would seem you are trying to overcome some shortcomings of your own. You've either got 3 left hooves, or," Lemick again bends down to check it's 'sir-ness' in an obvious manner before continuing, "well never mind, I see the problem and I'm afraid I can't help. "

Out of the corner of her eyes she catches the human and half orc ....behind the centaur ,,,, and gives them a nod .....and movement on the roof of the stable gives away the half-elfs location

Whispering to Leapold ... " somebody is on the roof .... careful "
As the duo of swordsmen step forward ...Peza adresses them ....." No need for talk like that about My Friends .... thats not nice ....... you disrespect them you disrespect me .... now we don't want trouble .... but if its trouble your looking for " as the raven haired girl eases her crossbow off her back .... and cocks it shoooook and keeps her eyes on the duo as she loads it with practiced ease ...." i suggest you move on " finishes Peza in an even but firm tone .....
Brom lifts his head to survey the scene. Bullies were just his style. He stands, without drawing his sword decides that he is going to teach these punks a lesson.
The veins in his forehead start to bulge and his jaw clenches tight as he charges the centaur and clocks him in the head.

Drawing is not so simple as others make it look. There are so many very small details. And making a shape that is exactly the same as another is also surprisingly difficult as well. She puts the stylus to the page, and the line that she draws does not look anything like the way in which she imagines it should. It is as though the stylus deliberately draws a different thing. With a look of horror and disbelief on her face, Harvest Moon tears the first page from the book and begins again.
Her second attempt goes somewhat better. But the lines that she draws are too inexact. The shape is recognizable. But it is not sufficient.
From the beginning of her third try, however, Harvest Moon can feel that this will be the one to come out perfectly. Something in the manner in which the lines come out are all so very perfect. When she finishes copying the last of the many rivers that cover the map, Harvest Moon eyes the whole with a critical eye. She nods her head, and a satisfied smile spreads across her face.
A noise from outside catches her attention. What is going on outside?

Leapold takes in the courtyard and the group in it. He has already seen the human, the Half Orc and the Elf on the roof when Peza says something as well. (perception 22)
He nods to her and whispers back as Brom clocks the centaur. "If the centaurs friends aren't content to let this brawl be between him and Brom and jump in i'm afraid we may need to intervene as well. I really didn't want to end up back in jail, but i suppose we should back up our new comrade."
Leapold eyes all the strangers warily trying to decide if its going to be bruises or if they intend to spill blood so he will know if its an improvised club he should be looking for or drawing his dagger.

Gerox Shale (George) d20+2=3 ; d20+2=6 ; d20+4=22 ; Friday July 8th, 2011 8:11:14 AM
Gerox is totally oblivious to motives of the two "guards". He isn't stupid though and realizes that they aren't at all scared of the large minotaur which rings alarm bells in the small gnome. He knows he has no wish to even think about sparring Barratore. In fact he is pretty sure he is going to have a nightmare tonight over the whole subject.
Gerox is unsure how to defuse the whole situation. He doesn't know his new companions well yet but he realizes that Brom looks like he is going to just lose it. He decides to try and be tactful turns to his friends and says, "I am getting tired. I has been a long day and I my feet are already sore from the long walk up from the harbor. I have been at see for to long and not used to those extended walks. How about we go back inside and I will buy a round of drinks." Gerox turns back to the two bully boys and says, "I am sure the Captain wouldn't want his new recruits brawling which I think this is about to turn into. How about I buy you a drink and you can regale us with your exploits and tales of adventure. You both look like you have been on a few. What do you say?"

Tom's eyes dart to the potential backup, but he's committed to his course.
He starts speaking while stepping up closer. "Come on now, don't you think thats a bit too...
And then he just hauls off and decks the guy who called Barratore a cow.

Crag patiently waits on Harvest until he hears the commotion in the courtyard, at which point he wanders out to the edge to see what's going on.
"Headstrong fools" he thinks to himself. "Hard to sail to Rum if you are in jail. Well, do I get myself thrown in jail as well, or wait and bail them out? Bah, what self respecting Dwarf stands back while his comrades are in a fight? Even if they are idiots."
Crag moves over to stand by Brom, watching the Human Druid and the half orc(spot 12) waiting behind.
