The Gathering DM Dan K Thursday August 11th, 2011 7:49:46 PM
Ok continuing our list
Sean is playing a Human Ranger Toregan Dondarin Josh is playing a Minotaur Rogue Corey is playing a Halfling Sorcerer Tack Greenword MacK is playing a Centaur Cleric Andrew is going Wizard ...human? Cory....? Erik...?
who am I missing?
Andrew Thursday August 11th, 2011 8:11:02 PM
Human, named Henrix Sharpsword.
MacK Thursday August 11th, 2011 10:48:40 PM
Actually, I think I'm going to play a barbarian, if it's alright. I'll re-email you with my new stat array (I still want to be a centaur since centaurs are awesome.)
Erik Friday August 12th, 2011 1:37:28 AM
I might give the druid a spin -- I naturally lean toward playing humans.
I just have to make sure I can think of a solid enough druid concept that both fits the setting and can work for me for 20 levels. I do like the non-neutrality of druids in the Wold, so that makes things more interesting to me.
Zach R (DM) Friday August 12th, 2011 7:16:09 AM
Hey guys, if you have questions, still ask them. I am moving today and may not have internet for a bit. Direct any questions to Daniel. I'll still try to answer, but just know I may be a little slow on the response.
Erik Friday August 12th, 2011 3:20:26 PM
So the idea right now is for some sort of Lawful Good druid, a settler from elsewhere, having been sent by his druidic mentor to the region in order to:
Provide counsel to the other settlers in how to tame the local wilderness in mutually beneficial manner. Act as a missionary to "civilize" any primitive local druidic cults. Root out any organized evil immortal or druidic influences on the local wilderness, and coordinate an effort to destroy it.
Some questions I have regarding this are:
Does this idea even work? If so, where should he be from? Would any of the other players like their characters to have been former acquaintances of mine? He could certainly use a partner that could function in a more direct diplomatic manner -- a bard, a paladin, or even a sorcerer might work.
I guess that's it for now, I'll share more of my thoughts later.
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Friday August 12th, 2011 3:41:18 PM
Still having trouble with the backstory, but I have Toregan's reason for traveling to Cthonia. Hes a hunter by trade and by lifestyle, so he would be there to hunt big game. He's sure to get a lot of money if he hunts enough of the beasts that live there, maybe enough to settle down early in his life, so that for him, hunting can be a challenge he takes on of his own will, not a necessity of life. He also has a second reason that ties directly into hunting the creature in the Thunderlands. He knows that he is prepared to hunt dangerous creatures, and also knows, that the prospect of land free for the taking will draw many fools who are not prepared to face any dangers lurking there. By hunting the dangerous creatures that live there he will be able to provide safety and security for anyone who travels there as a byproduct of his actions.
Andrew Friday August 12th, 2011 6:09:50 PM
Can clerics in the Wold choose to not devote themselves to any deity or deities?
The Gathering DM Dan K Friday August 12th, 2011 7:54:18 PM
OK let me throw this out there, the opening of the Cthonia game area is going to incorprate why teh PCs are going to Cthonia.
From back story and such, you don't have to get to complex, remember 1st level....generally means young and thus not too much history. Backstory wise the area you want to story yourselves to is Floating City. http://www.woldiangames.com/Woldipedia/index.php/The_Floating_City you can be from the city of course or from nearby wilderness or perhaps the family or your came from much further away, spent every cent to use a magical gateway 'Wold has some of these here and there' to get to teh Float to start anew or what have you.
quick Thoughts Erik... travelling to Floating City puts your druid within easy reach of several 'wild' areas some far more so than others like the Crying Woods that are said to be alive and sentient themselves
Andrew...yes Wold clerics can be non specific The Pantheon Devotee These clerics choose to worship one of the Woldian Pantheon's as a whole, instead of focusing on just one deity. These clerics pick either the Pantheon of the Gods of the World, or the Pantheon of the Gods of Testing. They may choose their domains from any in the core rulebook, but may not choose Woldian unique domains. They must still meet the requirements for alignment based domains. Pantheon Devotee's work to promote the Pantheon as a whole. DM's would prefer teh Pantheon of the gods of the Wold
Sean that works good, I would add you came to teh Float as the nearest location to find out more and to gear up so to speak
Feel free to write any of your histories to entwine so that you know each other or some of you as part of the back story. ex. Toregan is camping one night on his travels to teh Floating City. Druid elders point young druid in the correct direction so that he comes across Toregans camp. they meet have common things and decide to travel together to Float
Andrew Friday August 12th, 2011 8:03:02 PM
Hmm I read about the pantheon devotee but I was wondering if you could go one step further and avoid worshiping any deities, instead devoting yourself to a cause or concept.
PS. Corey, I e-mailed you my spell list.
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Friday August 12th, 2011 10:04:16 PM
What are the languages of the Wold? I've checked the Woldipedia, but I can't find any mention of languages. Does the wold use the basic languages as the core rulebook?
(Josh) Meranus Stormhorn AC 16/12/13 -- CMD 18 -- HP 15/15 Friday August 12th, 2011 10:51:41 PM
Hopefully the name/sheet link worked...
Question: A minotaur spends fifteen minutes in a bar extolling the virtues of natural strength and minotaurs in particular to a random person. The random man is a Stinger of Jankassis. Would it be in the Stinger's nature to send the minotaur to a land filled with beasts of natural strength that can put minotaurs to shame?
Erik Friday August 12th, 2011 11:45:13 PM
Should we be newly arrived to the floating city, or could we be born and raised there?
(Andrew) Henrix Sharpsword AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 11 -- HP 10/10 Saturday August 13th, 2011 2:12:34 PM
testing post name.
The new icon for Cthonia is awesome. Who made it?
Ezra, the Second Sunday August 14th, 2011 2:24:37 AM
I have a couple of questions, I would like to play a wizard, or a face rogue. I see that there are both listed already, any issue with so much casting in the group? Next, I see that Centaur's are listed as having minotaur weight capacity, is this an error?
(Josh) Meranus Stormhorn AC 16/12/13 -- CMD 18 -- HP 15/15 Sunday August 14th, 2011 2:43:39 AM
We do not have a face rogue. Well, there's a face, but it ain't a pretty one.
Erik Sunday August 14th, 2011 3:19:22 AM
Ezra, hi!
I said I was going to play a Druid but I'm thinking I might just play a Fighter. I don't know if I'm up for all the book-keeping involved with a caster. Sure its easy at low levels ....
Anyway, yeah. Play a caster. I'll play a Fighter. We'll be a team of awesome.
Ezra, the Second Sunday August 14th, 2011 11:13:30 AM
Ok, I'm stating up a human wizard. Next question, are traits from APG in use?
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Sunday August 14th, 2011 11:34:43 AM
APG has yet to be approved for the Wold. So for the moment, anything from the APG can't be used right now.
Ezra, the Second 2d6=9 ; Sunday August 14th, 2011 3:11:52 PM
Roll for gold...
What languages are common where we are/will be? I have a couple of language slots left. Also, is draconic still the language for arcane, or has high woldian replaced it?
Corey Tack Greenword AC 14/14/11 -- CMD 11 -- HP 12/12 Sunday August 14th, 2011 4:50:54 PM
Ezra, just so you know, we have a Transmuter (Henrix) and a Blasty Sorcerer (Me!) on board already, so you won't be the only one slinging spells. Don't change your concept on my account though, just thought it would be best if we all work together on our spell lists to avoid too much redundancy.
Oh, and I had planned on being a party face, what with my 20 charisma and all - I don't even need to use my magic to charm people!
Ezra, the Second Sunday August 14th, 2011 5:29:38 PM
Glad to hear it... I'm majoring in conjuration with a minor in illusions. So no issues with cross-purpose. And Henrix and I will probably want to share spellbooks soon anyway. I'm still fleshing out a few details on the char sheet.
Is Avenger an available PrC? If so, I want to build my background to head in that direction now.
Ezra, the Second Sunday August 14th, 2011 5:36:33 PM
Which Knowledge skills is Hendrix covering?
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Sunday August 14th, 2011 7:29:19 PM
Toregan only has Knowledge: Nature, and hes going to invest in that so that's one less you need to worry about.
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Sunday August 14th, 2011 7:31:51 PM
Scratch that, messed up. He also has Dungeoneering and Geography.
(Andrew) Henrix Sharpsword AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 11 -- HP 10/10 Sunday August 14th, 2011 7:49:33 PM
Henrix is a booky knowledge freak, so eventually he'll have at least one rank in each one. No worries about party knowledge, just cater your ranks to your concept =) But he will primarily be focusing on Arcana and Religion.
Ezra, the Second Monday August 15th, 2011 1:54:40 AM
Oh, I plan on having a rank in each as well, but since nature and religion are currently covered, then for first lvl i will cover planes and possibly geography.
MacK Monday August 15th, 2011 6:44:14 PM
Sorry, I've been having some Internet problems recently.
I'm still looking at a Centaur Barbarian, and am very happy to have another melee character!
Zach, I'll send you everything soon.
Ezra, the Second Monday August 15th, 2011 7:13:59 PM
So what's the typical posting rate, and has a start date been determined yet?
(Josh) Meranus Stormhorn AC 16/12/13 -- CMD 18 -- HP 15/15 Monday August 15th, 2011 8:35:39 PM
I know we're supposed to post exactly once a weekday; there's stuff in the Woldpedia about it. What I'm not sure of is if we'd be penalized or frowned at for making multiple posts in a day, like if two PCs were having a conversation.
(Erik) Leonan Songsteel AC 21/13/18 -- CMD 19 -- HP 13/13 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 12:32:26 AM
I'm still polishing my fighter up.
His Appearance/History needs some work.
He doesn't have much in the way of helpful skills beyond Profession (Soldier) and a pretty mediocre level of Animal Handling.
If anyone wants to link character backgrounds together, let me know, I'd be happy to try to work something out.
(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 9:25:35 AM

(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 6:28:41 PM
Okay, I like this sheet better. I have 3 languages to choose, and since I haven't heard anything about Avenger PrC, I wrote the background with that goal in mind. I am open to any suggestions before we start on the character.
(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 6:38:27 PM
It appears that Toregan, Meranus and Yngvar may have had opportunity to meet on the road and travel to Float City together...
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 8:11:23 PM
I won't deny, it would probably be useful for Toregan to have met someone along the road, if only so he can actually communicate with one of the group.
(Josh) Meranus Stormhorn AC 16/12/13 -- CMD 18 -- HP 15/15 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 8:41:12 PM
It could work with Meranus. He has to sleep sometime, and if he still gets robbed, at least he'll have had extra time to study the miscreants. The idea of anyone killing him in his sleep has probably never occurred to the minotaur...
Oh, and Sean - Rangers have a d10 HD in pathfinder.
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 9:45:30 PM
Whoops, my bad. I could've sworn it said d8. Guess I misread it.
(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Tuesday August 16th, 2011 11:27:45 PM

(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Wednesday August 17th, 2011 3:15:09 AM

I don't think anyone keeps the sheets the way they get them.
The Gathering DM Dan K Wednesday August 17th, 2011 9:22:09 AM
hey guys sorry about the gap here
When the game starts, sltaed for Monday but if everyone has PC's fully ready we will go earlier. I will be going through t Sheets today Posting is 1/day when the game is on. Everyone should get each others email so you can discuss ideas tactics and such when the game is going this board is only for posting actions languages are common Core book save that of Tauric for all the Taur creatures. Minotaurs cannot speak common by default
We want to keep posting to a 1/day type thing (Sometimes the DM will post an exception to this) to allow for those who simply cannot because of time access or what have you post more often. Experieince has shown that players tend to feel left out as it were if they go to post and 3 others have had a back and forth for 3-6 posts. Also it can very suddenly create alot of back reading to catch up.
Toregan, Meranus, and Yngvar met at an inn on the road to Float City Henrix and Tack
On the gods of Testing....I need to re aquaint myself Ill do that and get back to teis topic
(Andrew) Henrix Sharpsword AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 11 -- HP 10/10 Wednesday August 17th, 2011 3:01:06 PM
Tell me if there's any problem with Henrix's equipment... he's cutting it very close to medium load, and he has a lot of gear that's not given a RAW weight... if there's a problem I'll reduce the gear rather than take the speed penalty.
I will make minor revisions/additions to fluff (appearance, history, personality) as I come up with it... obviously this is an ongoing thing even going in the game.
Beyond that, character sheet is good to go and I'm ready when you are. =)
(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 10/12 -- HP 8/8 Wednesday August 17th, 2011 4:46:09 PM
Let's just hire a porter to carry the luggage...
(Josh) Meranus Stormhorn AC 16/12/13 -- CMD 18 -- HP 15/15 Wednesday August 17th, 2011 4:56:16 PM
That doubled weight thing for large creatures is brutal, considering large size only increases your carrying capacity by 50%. His adventurer's outfit is 16 pounds by itself!
(Sean) Toregan Dondarin AC 17/14/13 -- CMD 17 -- HP 9/9 Wednesday August 17th, 2011 5:02:26 PM
Yeah, I mean a porter costs, what, 1 silver a day since they would be classified as untrained laborers? 3 gold for a month of someone lugging your stuff around. Alternate route, get a cart and a mule, donkey, or horse. Now you have a ride and a place to put your stuff. On second thought, the porter might be classified as a trained hireling because of where we are going, and would probably ask for a decent amount more due to the risk.

I made a slight error with my health because for some reason i read the rangers hit die as a d8 not a d10. I actually have 11 health. Also, I made the edit to my gold, and still have more than ten left over.
Corey Tack Greenword AC 14/14/11 -- CMD 11 -- HP 12/12 Thursday August 18th, 2011 12:44:53 AM
We don't even need a porter - a donkey will carry our stuff around for the cost of feed. And that's only if it can't graze on the way, which will usually be the case.
(Ezra, the Second) Yngvar Hefnd AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 12 -- HP 8/8 Thursday August 18th, 2011 1:12:03 AM
While that's true, a pony costs 30g, plus equipment. A trained hireling will cost that much for 30 days, and cook meals, do the laundry, etc An untrained porter can be had for 3 months for the same cost.
(Andrew) Henrix Sharpsword AC 12/12/10 -- CMD 11 -- HP 10/10 Thursday August 18th, 2011 1:40:59 AM
Maybe our characters should have this argument, lol
Corey Tack Greenword AC 14/14/11 -- CMD 11 -- HP 12/12 Thursday August 18th, 2011 1:54:04 AM
(this is more-or-less in-character ;) ) So your argument for hiring a porter is that we can pay 30gp for a pony now, or pay infinity gp for a hireling? Also, the SRD lists a donkey as 8gp, rather than 30 for a pony.

"I'm heading to the wildlands, and the human that told me about it mentioned a whole lot of mesas and plateaus.... that means climbing. If need be, I can make multiple trips with different loads. I'd rather not make that same trip with a panicking four-legged over my shoulders. Beasts of burden bind your steps."
Corey Tack Greenword AC 14/14/11 -- CMD 11 -- HP 12/12 Thursday August 18th, 2011 5:03:48 AM
"Surely you've never traveled with a donkey in tow - I assure you, there are few more surefooted creatures in the world than the ass, a plains horse can't begin to compare. Also, if it's climbing you're worried about, then how would you expect an untrained human to keep up with us on a sheer cliff, all the while carrying our excess gear? No, if we're carrying extra gear, I daresay we'll be sticking to the foot paths one way or the other."
Zach R (DM) Thursday August 18th, 2011 11:12:26 AM
Sorry for lack of posting over the past week. I just moved my family from Virginia to Mississippi. Do not expect to start with someone in your employ. You will be able to RP it out in game if you like. Just keep in mind, it is rarely a good idea to bring wit you on a trip, more than you can carry. If you're porter gets scared and runs off, or your donkey is killed, or you come to a place that won't allow them. You get the idea.
Regarding languages, Stand languages plus Tauric. There is also a High Woldian but your characters would not have a way of knowing it as it is a mostly dead language that takes years of studying to learn.
For those of you who may have emailed me in the past week and not gotten a response... my apologies, please resend them and I'll get back to you. It won't happen again.

Zach and I are not perfect and some things are going to go awry, interpretations, misclues, missed bits and so forth. Assuming it is not a grand screw up of biblical proportions it is our intention to not back up but be adults and move forward striving to not make that mistake again. the goal is to not bog down action. This site is about fun and being a hero. I tend to give the heroes the benefit of the doubht If you don't post it, we will not be assuming you did it. Perception checks, stealth checks, knowledge checks searching for traps and all that good stuff. non combat posts can be several minutes of actions. Combat are strictly 1 round at a time unless expressly altered. Try not to If then us and your fellow players to death generally DM's will take actions in the order they are posted Zach and I rotate every few weeks. I tend to post b/t 830 and 10pm new york time, not sure where Zach's time will fall

[ instead of { (don't shift). It's basic html, as far as I remember. Also: there's a type in the end of it - you're missing the part of the last bracket - {/link} before you swap out the characters.
Grats on the first day. :)
