"Don't mistake my age for lack of skill." He says to Windpaw. "Many a'man fell because they underestimated the skill of their prey. Wouldn't ya say."
Totally missing whatever the lioness was attempting to get, Brom looks up at Barratore. "Death to the dogs!!!" He also raises a tankard of whatever he was drinking. "Strength, cunning, endurance, you against your prey - a hunt sounds like a great challenge."
Brom all but dismisses any secondary challenges proposed between the wemics and the WLAers. "What tale would that be for the victor. Tales of killing hellhounds, those are stories to tell! What say you." He says directing his words towards Windpaw.
DMSteveK - Hellhound Hunt Wednesday September 28th, 2011 6:40:19 PM
Windpaw takes up the chant, and soon all the Wemics are dancing around the fire with Brom and Barratore; "Death to the dogs!" "Death to the dogs!"
More wine is poured, and back slaps and bear hugs, bumping of chests, and other testosterone-filled stuff. It is a heady moment!
When things wind down, it is noticed the female Wemic did not join in the parade around the fire. But she smiles, showing teeth in a feral grin. "So it is chosen the deed our guest-friends will do to get the Pearl. Go to Hellhound Ridge and slay a Hellhound, returning with its dead body. That would truly be a deed worthy of praise and reward. And what better reward does our Pride have than the Pearl?"
The other Wemics heartily agree.
Windpaw guages the failing light. "Therre is about an hourrr of light left, plenty of time forrr you to go to the rrridge and kill some Hellhounds! Be warrrned, they arrre strrrong and filled with firrre in thierrr mouths. And they arrre rrrarrrely alone. It appears the WLAers have a choice. They can hunt Hellhounds and the Wemics will give them the Pearl, they can attack the Wemics and steal the Pearl, or they can let the liontaur village get drowned by water elementals. Nobody ever said heroic choices were easy!

Crag then moves over to Barratore. "Well, this was your plan. Lead on. As they said, we have a little light left. Let's make use of it." He then makes a gesture in the general direction of the ridge.
On the way there, Crag offers Barratore or Brom an enlarge person spell once the hellhound shows up. "I got one. You'll be a little less agile and easier to hit, but you will be stronger, and you and your weapon will be even bigger. I will throw that, then a bless, and then join the battle if there is any left."

Barratore jumps and thumps and belts out a few great howls as he moves about the fire. A roaring fire to his right, a fire of drink in his belly and enough testosterone to level a mountain, Imod this was what being alive and a minotaur was about. Barratore nods readily and looks at his companions, "Time a plenty to slay a few dogs and return."
Not a complete fool or idiot though, Barratore listens carefully to the words of Windpaw on the dangers and tactics employed by his soon to be enemy. "Windpaw, your pride knows much of these dogs, how far is the reach of their flaming breath?"
With Crag adding encouragement, Barratore is off in the direction of the ridge. The minotaur figures that he, the tough dwarf and Brom could take one. If the others came, they would be assured success if not, they would simply need to be a bit careful. Pulling a large javelin, Barratore answers Crag, "An Enlargement would be great." DMSteveK - Hellhound Hunt: To the Stream Thursday September 29th, 2011 1:41:28 PM
Some of the liontaur stay behind with those heroes not going on the hunt. It is obvious that "Iron Shot" Tom has drunk a little too much of the heady wine and is in no condition to go on this hunt. As the party members know, tomorrow will be too late to hunt and get the Pearl, for the mermaid made them a promise...
Windpaw, the female Wemic, and 2 other warriors go with the WLAers out of the village and south along the crest of the beach. Soon, the ridge that makes up the southern crest of the moon-shaped bay is prominent, only a 30 foot wide stream separating the fertile plain where the group stands from a more rocky promentory.
The Female Wemic speaks. "Yes, guest-friends, they are the actual hounds from the Lands of Unrest. Tomi, the great god of all Taurs, long ago saved the Wemic in the Great Cataclysm, leading us by dreams to come to islands far from the mainland. The dreams urged us to find the Minotaur and the Centaur, and, together, bring peace to all children of Tomi." "But our ancestors lost thier way. The horror of the Cataclysm made them turn on each other, some clining to the ancient ways to please Tomi, and some forsaking the hunters way as if the ancient ways were what caused the Cataclysm. Both groups forgot the mission of Tomi. In anger, Tomi sent the Hellhounds to our islands as a test and reminder of his calling to the Wemic. And as long as the Wemic do not bring peace to the Taur, we will battle the demons of our past."
Windpaw then gives his last advice. "Thierrr brrreath is no more than 10 feet away, but can strrrike a grrreat numberrr of warrriorrrs in that distance. Count yourrr warrriorrrs as you crrross the strrream. Be brrrave and do not rrrun. Be surrre to quickly kill thierrr driverrrs to avoid the main pack. It will be good to live a tale for the Lion People in which Barratore Steelwind plays a part.
Leading with her small sharp nose, as though sniffing the wind, Harvest Moon approaches the stream. Her eyes scan the water for dangers. Her ears listen for the bark or howl of dogs.
With but a single look behind to see who might be accompanying her, Harvest Moon enters the stream and begins wading across to the rocky ridge.

Seven heroes cross the stream, most by their own power and Gerox by holding onto Barratore. The stream is mountain-fed and cold, but pure as the best water, and is 4 feet deep at the worst of it. It turns out Gerox was smart by hopping a ride with the minotaur. Crag, weighted down with his armor, has no difficulty keeping his feet, but has to do a couple of jump-bobs to catch his breath as the deeper water closes over the dwarf's eyes.
Still, the heroes are soon safe and wet on the other side of the stream. "Iron Shot" Tom is sleeping off the wine along with several liontaurs, and Leapold elected to stay on the SeaSprite when the others came to the village.
Harvest's keen eyes can't see anything moving about in the sparse undergrowth of the rock ridge. And nothing immediately jumps out, either. The ridge rises before them without a noticable trail, and the heroes can see the cliff that falls into the sea about a mile away...

DMSteveK - Hellhound Hunt: Which Way To Go Monday October 3rd, 2011 10:46:08 AM
Harvest and Peza checks for tracks. This seems to be a popular ford, because there are many prints here; most medium-sized doggie prints and a few large cat paws. While Harvest can readily see several paw prints that go towards and away from the water (unskilled tracking), she can't see in which direction to go. And that's where Peza comes in. It takes the woman less than 5 minutes to get everything figured out, rejecting older prints and concentrating on the ones closer in. The most recent hound prints are nearly 18 hours old (ie last night) and there was a pack of at least 9 of the beasts who came down to the edge of the stream, patrolled back and forth for a while, and then gathered up and moved up the ridge towards some rocky outcroppings.
Gerox suggests a look at other prints besides hellhound, and Peza can easily see a 2 day old trail of large cat pawprints that emerged from the stream and glided up the ridge.
Barratore, Crag, and Brom keeps alert, only the barbarian looking carefully in the undergrowth. Brom is fairly sure nothing is close enough to pounce out.
Lemick takes a deep breath, but for the stream, growing things, and the faintest smell of brimstone, he gets nothing specific. (need skill checks for more information)
There are two obvious trails to take from what Peza has found. The first is to follow the hellhound pack to the rocky ground, and the second is to follow Windpaw's route along the crest to be bait. A third thought is to range along the stream like the hellhounds did the night before and pretend to be bait...

Harvest, too, sees the story of the tracks near the bank of the stream.
Lemick and Brom look back at the Wemic on the stream's far shore. They are already withdrawing from the stream in a tight defensive formation. It appears they are taking the proximity of the hellhounds and the coming night very seriously indeed. Lemick makes an assessment and figures there is about 50 minutes of good light left in the sky, followed by 10 minutes of heavy shadow before full night.
The first suggestion is to range the stream, but several heroes object in that the heroes clustered together with a safe back to the stream may make single or pair of hellhounds not reveal themselves, and only get attacked by an entire pack. Peza and Harvest can see that the prints are older, at least only from the hours of complete darkness...
Another suggestion is for Harvest to play 'bait', but Brom quickly nixxes that idea.
Barratorre suggets following Windpaw's prints. It would be away from the presumed lairs of the hellhounds and a known path to get a hellhound driver/chaser.
A minute passes in reading tracks, ranging up and down a little on the stream, and contemplating the plan of action.

Harvest Moon nods at the decision made by Barratore Steelwind. Along with Brom, she ranges ahead. It is difficult to follow the tracks upon the stony ground and she soon gives up in favor of keeping a wary eye out for the dogs. They would have to rely upon the dogs to find them rather than the other way around. It may also be very important to spy the dogs before they themselves are spied. Harvest Moon keeps a weather eye. The advantage from such might mean the difference between life and death.

DMSteveK - Hellhound Hunt: 48 minutes to Night Thursday October 6th, 2011 1:38:06 PM
Harvest sees the Hellhound, gives Brom a verbal nudge, and pretends to panic, hustling back down the ridge. Brom (DM assessment from post prior to Harvest), follows, making sure he is behind the monk. The uneven ground makes it impossible to run, but that is true of the hellhounds as well, I hope! (ooc: Harvest move 30 feet, hustling is 60 feet. Brom can move 40 feet and easily keeps up to Harvest).
The Hellhound that Harvest spotted wastes no time in anger, but leaps up to give chase. The dogs get within 30 feet, Harvest and Brom are only 10 feet away when the ambush launches!
Peza calmly holds her fire until the Hellhounds get to point blank range and fires at at the nearest hound, nearly missing but satisfied the bolt slams into a vital spot in the shoulder.
Crag waits until Peza shoots and then Enlarges the minotaur, Barratore growing to Huge size. Even crouching, the taur is 10 feet tall!
Lemick waits, javelin at the ready. On the signal, he lets it fly but the uneven surface causes Lemick's javelin to fly way wide.
Brom catches the movement of another hellhound and hears the half-dozen more in the distance. He runs behind Harvest Moon until Peza lets fly, then the barbarian allows his battle joy to take over. Spinning with his greatsword unsheathed, he moves forward and launches into the wounded hellhound driving it into the ground, bleeding hard!
Gerox is dizzy, but prepares his magic missile spell thinking that he doesn't want to get to close to this thing. (ooc: without a Ready certain action or a damage roll, DM can't carry off 'ready', and so Gerox only prepared this round.)
The huge-sized Barratore stands 20 feet tall and hurls his javelin, piercing the second hellhound. Drawing his sword in a smooth motion, he ensures he is in range of cutting down the hound. ......................

"Hurry! We must go!"
Even more distressing is a thing that she had not noticed before. Those of the Adventuring League born with shorter legs cannot run as fast. Even with a strong person to carry the body of a dog, they will only be able to move as fast as the slowest person.
The dogs will surely catch them. Unless ...
Harvest Moon looks about. Is there some way in which the dogs might be slowed? A fall of rocks? A tree? Or, perhaps there might be quicker but more dangerous path to the river? As she keeps pace with the slowest among them, Harvest Moon searches for something that may be of use in the area around.

If there is some way to block this trail with the large boulders and dense brush on either side... Harvest sees a huge boulder that looks large enough for the job and precarious that it may be able to roll. She knows it is going to take a LOT of muscle to get it moved...
Crag moves as quick as his Dwarven legs will carry him, ignoring any attempt at being made into a sack of potatoes.

Harvest and Barratorre team up on the rock. Standing from here it is obvious that this path is not the only way down, only the most convienient. With Harvest's keen eyes and Barratore's great strength, the rock wobbles, and then is heaved down the side of the slope, a scree of smaller stones and earth sliding, bumping, and bounding along. With a crash, the large stone wedges in between three other rocks and a couple of bushes, making the path a tight squeeze even for Gerox!
Seeing nothing more to do here other than earn a heroic death, the two WLAers scramble down the slope and back to the trail, hustling to catch up to the others.
Brom has problems of his own, the darn thing's healing! Dropping the hound, the human barbarian unsheathes his greatsword and runs the hot body through. The flaming eyes glare at Brom, then dim and go out, well and truely killed.
Now that the carrying hound is actually dead and the path is blocked, the WLAers make a dash for the stream. A minute of scrambling downhill later and the belling, tormented calls of the Hellhounds change as they arrive at the rockfall. They scramble up and down slope, flowing around the blockage, but precious seconds are wasted by the pack!
The Hellhound pack is gaining, but slowly, too slowly. Even though the dogs are on thier heels, before the WLAers, there is the 30 foot wide, four feet deep stream!

DMSteveK - Hellhound Hunt: At the Stream Tuesday October 11th, 2011 9:27:05 PM
Harvest runs to the river and gives a tremendous leap, splashing down nearly on the far shore!
Brom pauses to get Gerox on his shoulders, and then, staggering under his unwieldy load, splashes most of the way across the stream. (standard action to have Gerox climb aboard, move action 40/2=20 feet across the stream.)
Crag bulls his way through the slow moving stream, his armor keeping him on the bottom. Though he has to hold his breath in the middle, it is only seconds before he crests and is near the far shore.
Gerox climbs up Brom and tries to fire a magical bolt at the leading hellhound, wounding it in the flank. (unstable Concentration DC 11 to succeed). He then has a precarious ride over the stream.
Barratore runs hard and makes a leap nearly equal to Harvest, making a great splash next to Brom.
Lemick takes a short step into the water and then turns to menace the arriving hellhounds with his javelin and a splash of water.
Peza runs straight into the water and doesn't stop untiil she gets to the far shore.
.....................
The Hellhounds don't slow down from a Magic Missle or a splash of water. Boiling down the last few feet to the stream, most howl and begin pacing the shore, but two have other plans. Unable to charge Lemick because of the difficult terrain and having run too far to fry the hero they splash into the shallow water, one on either side of him, growling and snapping thier jaws!
(ooc: Lemick, holding a melee weapon, can make an AOO against either hound.)
(ooc: hellhounds can't charge [difficult terrain], and can't double move then use breath weapon. Two are, however, in a position to AOO Lemick as he tries to withdraw as only the first 5 feet of withdraw allows no AOO and he has 10 feet of threatened squares to retreat from.)
.....................
Peza is all the way across the stream.
Harvest is 25 feet across the stream.
Barratore, Brom, Crag, and Gerox are 20 feet across the stream.
Lemick is five feet into the stream with one hellhound on either side of him and eight more pacing the shore within easy flaming breath range!!!

The prayer quickly becomes a curse as Barratore's blade is as far off the mark as it can get. Borrowing from his months aboard the Sea Sprite, the warrior spins a series of curses and lineage questioning taunts directed at Waard that might even make the foulest demon blush

Lemick is shocked he has placed himself in this position and that the dogs actually entered the water. Jabbing at one of the beast as it approaches causes him to lose his footing (hit: AC 3).
At this point, Lemick would most often be shouting curses to Wardds timing, but this proves difficult as he dives towards the rest of the party (defensively?). With the hope that his heavy armor protects him, Lemick dives under the water to avoid the flames likely coming.
(OOC: Not sure bonuses on 'swimming' when you can touch the bottom, but Lemick intends to stay underwater for a bit -- the armor making this part easy, and use the current to float down and across.)

Harvest Moon calls to her friend: "Run, Lemick of Waard! Run for your life!"
Gerox yells for Lemick to, "Dive under the water and swim! You will be protected from their breath!" From the shoulder of Brom, he casts another magic missile at one of the hellhounds flanking Lemick, succeeding and doing minor damage.
Crag, water streaming from hair, beard, and armor, finishes crossing the stream. He drops his axe on the shore and pulls his crossbow.
Barratore spins, the hounds were only 15 feet away and so he takes a step into the stream and, with a prayer to Wardd, fans the air about the hellhounds.
Brom finishes moving across the river, dropping the hell hound on the far side with a thud and pulls his sling to cover Lemick. (ooc: sling loading is a move action)
Lemick is shocked the dogs actually entered the water. He misses an opportunistic jab at one beast, and then turns and dives underwater and towards the rest of the party. The two hellhounds menacing the cleric snap at him, but the underwater cleric is too difficult to strike! Lemick crawls along the bottom until he strikes the furry pillar of Barratore's leg, and comes up spluttering.
Peza raises her crossbow and further wounds the hellhound on Lemick's left! .....................
Six hellhounds release a breath of flame that shoots 10 feet over the water, but doesn't get near any of the heroes. The two hellhounds in the water are bathed in the flame, but seem to have no problem at all with the fire of their own pack's breath.
The two hellhounds in the water withdraw and move out of the water and away from the stream. (Barratore, being 15 feet away and a 20 foot reach, gets an AOO against one hound.)
At the same time, leaping from some nearby bushes, a full dozen Wemic warriors charge down to the side of the stream, making a furious caterwauling and brandishing spears and javelins. Windpaw leads them, shouting: "Warrriorrrs in trrruth! Thrrree cheerrrs forrr the Woldian Herrroes!" A feral grin splits his face, and he looks extra fearsome in the dimming light of day.
The remaining hellhounds, now outnumbered and intelligent enough to realize that while they can't attack across the stream , the same is not true for missle weapons of the heroes and Wemic. With a last soul-wrentching howl, they lope away to be quickly lost among the brush and rocks.

Wounded Hellhound: AC 16 HP 16
Lemick: conducting a Withdawl action, Lemick gets 5 feet of free movement without an AOO, which he chose to go underwater. Lucky Lemick indeed!

Still cursing and shouting, Barratore swings at the departing hound. Again the blade misses which simply prompts a further stream of tirades directed at the god of luck. The Minotaur stops just short of hurling the weapon after the departing pack. Barratore sheathes it, and storms across the stream to where the wemic have gathered. He folds his arms across his chest and wears a decidedly angry sneer upon his face
Why Imod had abandoned him he had no idea. Worse still was that he did not know how to undo such a thing. Left to the whims of Warrd was not a state he could remain in. It would surely mean his death and more than that it would mean the death of one or more of his collegues and likely innocents as well. The only possible bright thought is that it is his weapon that is cursed and not him. They would be in Rum soon and it is with that thought that he will be returning to the Sea Sprite
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al Thursday October 13th, 2011 1:09:43 PM
Harvest Moon stomps about in the water, shouting wordless calls of derision and sending splashes of river water in the direction of the retreating dogs. Finally, with her baggy robe plastered to her slender body and river water rolling from her in sheets, Harvest Moon climbs up onto the bank with a tremendous grin upon her face.
"We have beaten the dogs!" she declares, waving about a hand, completely hidden by her large sopping wet sleeve. Harvest Moon prepares to march up to the gathering of Wemic Lion Men, but is suddenly diverted by the body of the felled dog. She approaches cautiously at first, from the rear. But, once assured by a few experimental pokes, that the creature is indeed dead, she approaches closer, examining the fierce teeth and smelling its breath to see if it carries the scent of fire.
"Do you think that there is a fire still burning within the dog's body?" she asks. "And is an animal such as this good to eat?"
Gerox Shale Thursday October 13th, 2011 1:19:19 PM

Lemick sputters a bit, trying to grasps exactly what happened in the moments he was underwater. The scent of burnt air lingers for just a moment before the river's current sweeps it away. He makes a mental note to consider the test Wardd gave him and his fear in his faith. "How many others can say, 'I have stood before two hell hounds, one to either side, and near a dozen just a few feet away.... to stand moment later unscathed?" Lemick isn't boastful, but the telling of the story has potential, given Windpaw's own tale.
Lemick manages a smile to Peza. "Not exactly what I had planned, and I felt stuck between two hot tempered B-----, not a comfy position be they four legs or two." He finishes it with a laugh as the enomority of what could have happened finally filters through his thoughts.
As the congratulations and comradiare goes around, and talk of what to do with the body is discussed, Lemick requests some of it's blood for research once the group arrives in Rum. "Surely their properties to avoid fire damage could be shared, if mixed correctly with some other ingredients."

DMSteveK - Congratulations and the Pearl Friday October 14th, 2011 6:35:39 PM
The WLAers are all happy the mission has been a success whatever the individual assessments of thier skills and luck. Barratore and Gerox feel they were next to useless and start thinking of ways to change that status. Peza, Crag, and Harvest are in varying degrees of happiness at the defeat of such a formidable enemy with nothing more than a little dirt and a dunking. Lemick experiences some aftershock at living through such a close call, and Brom considers the taste of Hellhound.
"Do not trrry it", advises Windpaw, "the flesh is terrrible. This is a currrse by Tomi, wherrre we, hunterrrs and using all that we kill arrre ourrrselves the hunted and even when we kill them they arrre useless."
Still, it is a grand party that returns to the Wemic Village.
It is Brom and Lemick that the Wemic shower with more than thier fair share of attention at the party that goes far into the night. Brom is for not only killing and carrying the hellhound across the stream, but doing it with Gerox riding his shoulders too! And Lemick for counting coup against the hellhounds, standing amid them, splashing them with water and getting away safely!
At the end of the party, Windpaw presents the WLAers with a large silver sheened sphere. "Behold, for you the Perrarl. Yourrr rrrrewarrrd, yourrr honorrr!!!"

Harvest Moon approaches the ale with as great a caution as she had approached the fallen dog. The other League Adventurers, however, are imbibing of it greatly, and they appear no worse for it. They are, in fact, very joyful.
The drink has a rich yeasty smell that is very different, but not unpleasant. Harvest Moon drinks, and then quickly spits the mouthful back into the mug, spitting to clear the taste from her tongue. It was not necessarily bad in a bitter or poisonous sense. But it was highly unusual. Startling. She would drink a little. Not so much that she would become staggering and vulgar as she had seen others become. Just a little.
Harvest Moon weaves in her steps as she finds her way toward her friend. "I only thought to drink a little, Peza," she slurs. "Now ... I am drunken." And Harvest Moon sits down hard upon the ground, her legs folding under her. A liberal amount of ale escapes the wooden mug in her hands to splash the front of Harvest Moon's robe.

When it becomes clear that there is not, but, rather, the fog is, instead, within her head. Harvest Moon attempts to clear her head with some vigorous running. For the most part, this is quite successful. Especially as it can be combined with the trip back to the shore which must be done in all haste.

Barratore nods to Crag a very satisfactory grin on his face and he too locates a bottle of wine to 'get the nights taste from his mouth'. Several heroes have hangovers and find various means of overcoming the obvious drawbacks to include having the "hair of the dog" as it were. There is a little discussion on the benefits of that remedy, but in the end, to each thier own medicine.
Windpaw and the other wemics decline meeting the mermaid. In there mind there is no need, and nothing the heroes say can change thier minds.
"Iron Shot" Tom is angry at himself for missing the hunt and not helping the group, and he announces that he will stay with the wemic village for a while. It seems to be a parting of the ways...
The group, led by the little gnome with the big Pearl, get back to the SeaSprite by the dinghy and then have Artus sail them near the set of rocks the mermaid had pointed out the day before. Sure enough, the mermaid surfaces and looks up at the group. "It is time", she says, "do you have my Pearl?"

The boat ride back to the ship, and the short trip on the SeaSprite to the Mermaid Rocks is taken by a quiet and serious-faced Harvest Moon. Perhaps the effects of the drink from the night before still linger within her. Something presses down upon her mood, weighing it as would a sack full of stones.
Perhaps it is this which causes the frown on Harvest Moon's face at the demanding tone of the Mermaid's question. Rather than answer question as asked, she instead addresses a different one.
"The Wemic Lion People did not slay your friend on purpose, Lorelai," says Harvest Moon. He came upon your friend, the Giant Clam, by accident. I suppose that your friend the Giant Clam feared an attack and seized upon the paw of the Wemic Lion Man. From that moment, only one could live."
She then re-tells the story of the wager faced by Windpaw the Wemic Lion Man, in which he winds up in the end with the Great Pearl.
"It is sad. But it death comes to all."

He goes up to Iron Shot and shakes his hand. "I hope you can join us in Rum. I think we are going to need you. You will always be welcome with us."
(on board the ship)
Gerox pulls off his backpack and pulls out the pearl. He examines it one more time and regretfully holds it up and says, "Here is your pearl. So what does it do anyway? I see that it is magic?" He then holds it over the rail and says, "Should I just drop it?"
Crag Hammerfist AC: 18, HP: 11/11, CMD: 13 Wednesday October 19th, 2011 7:34:09 AM
Crag, about ready to drop-kick Gerox back into the hellhound territory, manages to hold his temper before Barratore hands him another bottle. "Lot to learn we do, about each other" He mumbles to Barratore as he tries to calm down. "Grabbing a Dwarfs drink. Imagine. That's like trying to make him lay down his axe and surrender. You're more likely to get the axe in a way ye didn't plan."
Crag makes his way back to the ship, not all too pleased to be aboard, but now comfortable with the motion. He wishes Iron Shot a safe journey to wherever his road may lead as they part.
Crag waits quietly at the returning of the pearl, as others try to advise upon peaceful relations.
Barratore Steelwind (Dan K) AC: 15 (T 11, FF 13), CMD: 18; HP: 16/16Character Sheet Wednesday October 19th, 2011 8:58:26 AM
Barratore grasps Tom forearm and most of his upper arm in his powerful grip "Good speed to you friend and my hopes we cross again in Rum.". Back aboard the Sea Sprite, Barratore is very comfortable not having to speak with the mermaid. That is until the diplomats get going. "The wemic are hunters and warriors. You would do well to keep that in mind."
DMSteveK - Lorelai the Mermaid Wednesday October 19th, 2011 3:47:06 PM
Lorelai listens to the heroes with a detached air. She is clearly unconcerned about what the Wemics do on land and what thier little traditions are, and she is much more concerned with her own position as guardian of the Pearl.
"I do not know what the Pearl does, only that I am to guard it for my father. I did not even know it was magical. You may drop the Pearl right into the water and I will find another hiding place for it. Please drop it in the water now."
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al Wednesday October 19th, 2011 3:55:11 PM
"You are not very nice," Harvest Moon snaps. "At first, I thought it best to help you, as it is best to offer help to all who need it."
The small half-elven girl climbs further up upon the rail to better harangue the mermaid in the water. "I think that it would be better if you would fetch your father for us," Harvest Moon says, shaking her finger at the mermaid while gripping the rail between her body and her upper arms. "I think that it would be best to speak with him first. We will release the pearl to your father."
"He may then speak to you about the proper way to present yourself to others."

--------------
Here's your important people:
APG Coordinator: Rob! [AKA Dr. Cleaver] He's been heading up the change, dealing with Cayzle, Stephen, and myself.
APG Surgeon: Jerry. [AKA Dr. Gericko] He will be the final say on all surgery, though I daresay I'll have plenty of other doctors, sexy nurses, and machines that go "bing." He will log all PC surgery in case there is a question about it later.
APG ER Staff: Cayzle [AKA Nurse Ratched] SteveK [AKA Chief Resident Gray]
They are here to help you with all your needs -- ESPECIALLY helping vet PCs wanting surgery.
(The Rules Board remains a great option for rules questions and advice)

Here's your Surgery Information:
1) Players have four weeks [until Nov. 7] to complete all APG-related PC surgeries. Later surgeries will have to go through the usual less streamlines process.
2) Players will email surgery request to their DM. The DM will reply CCing their favorite ER STAFF member for consultation and the surgery will be approved by the DM. [If we split up the load you should get a shorter response time.]
3) The DM will email Dr. Gericko [use that name in the subject line]. He will give final approval and log the surgery for future reference.

Peza Wednesday October 19th, 2011 8:51:44 PM
Peza is a little taken aback at the mermaids detached attitude ....she is glad Harvest has spoken up about it ... " stepping next the young waif .... the raven haired girl stands with her friend ...
" Well said Harvest ..i agree with you " as she stares down at the fishgirl .... ... you have a very selfish attitude ... many lives were at stake ... the wemics for taken the pearl ..... ours for getting it back .... so i wonder what kind of trouble you'll be in when your parents come and set you straight "
Gerox Shale Thursday October 20th, 2011 8:32:33 AM
Gerox looks at the others and then back to the mermaid. "Do we really want to meet her father? Yes she is rude and spoiled but I have found most nobility is and she sounds like she is from a noble family. Lets be done with this. We have accomplished our task and prevented the loss of innocent life. We aren't here to try and teach folks manners. Besides do we want to delay? We have rivals on those other ships and we need to keep an eye on them. I think we need to move on.
(in a whisper) Besides if she really does have access to water elementals, do we want her summoning them and possibly damaging the Sea Sprite? We still have a way to go!"
(ooc I was trying to wait to let others post but have to get moving today. So I will have split actions. If the rest of the group agrees with Harvest, I won't drop the pearl this round, If the don't care, then I will)
Barratore Steelwind (Dan K) AC: 15 (T 11, FF 13), CMD: 18; HP: 16/16Character Sheet Thursday October 20th, 2011 9:23:09 AM
Barratore furrows his brow a bit at the conversation in general and feeling he needs to add more to it, the fighter speaks up. "Give her the pearl so we can continue.". To the mermaid he adds "One of those little traditions you might want to keep in mind is the one that involves testing thier limits and claiming treasures found, like pearls"
To Barratore the sea creature was not actually rude or spoiled or any other negative trait the others bestowing upon her. She was direct and very much like the wemics and many other races, she was not overly concerned with what others were doing. That seemed to be a very human trait. The need to get everyone to be friends and build relations and interdependences. The drive to be part of a greater whole. Barratore was undecided on whether or not it was a positive or negative trait.
Harvest Moon (AC17/T17/F14; HP10/10; CMD 18) - Al d20+8=14 ; Thursday October 20th, 2011 11:27:25 AM
A brightness comes to Harvest Moon at the support of her friend, Peza. But Gerox Shale seems of two minds about returning the pearl to the Fish Girl without the intervention of her father. And Barratore Steelwind appears not to wish to be bothered with waiting.
A frown comes to Harvest Moon's face. Could she be wrong in this? The half-elven girl scrutinizes the mermaid, Lorelai, eying her for signs of deception. Through the miasma of last night's ale, however, no clear hunch comes to her.

"Aye, give her the pearl, and let's be on our way."
Lemick 4-Leaf Sted/Anthony hp 9/9, ac 20/12/18 Friday October 21st, 2011 10:31:23 AM
"Harvest, while I agree with your stance, that was not our deal with the mermaid. Our deal was to return the pearl to her, not her father. Perhaps in hindsight we spoke to hastily to offer our aide without any conditions. Such as it is, it's a reflection on us should we speak one way and act another."
Lemick says this in a caring way, in support of Harvest's idea, however also feeling it's not the time or place to carry it out.
