Tishe` rushes to the tavern, and she finds the brothers there with Helga. They inform her, Callie is sleeping back in the stable and is fine. Thar heads out, and so far he's gotten 2 types of answers. #1, No idea where where they went. #2 No idea where they went, and may they never return either. Kahlan comes out of the Tower with a mouth full of biscuit and another in her hand, and watches as some of her friends are running all over searching for clues. Falmar is located in the stable, where he's taking care of his mount.
When someone finally gets to the field where the King had set up camp, it's barren, not a soul there to find. The wheat, (which the king paid the farmer for) is trampled flat, as if people had been walking on it, there are only a few trace paths leading out of the camp, and it looks like they also came back in, it's almost as if they just vanished into thin air.
The only thing that remains, is the latrines they dug in the afternoon.

With different people checking out various different possibilities, it doesn't take very long for the checking to be finished.
No one in town is missing, only the King and his people, and they aren't really from town. The field has traces of people walking back and forth, from one tent to another, there are also tracks leading to and from town, with all the matted grass, you can't tell is they used carpets to leave. The village Witch, attracts Tishe`s attention. "They've left it seems, but I fear the last of their kind has yet to be seen. I would ask, that you all stay near WatcHaven, I see darkness in the future. What kind of darkness and what it has to do with WatcHaven, I have not an idea. I shall see about what further I can divine out of the future so as to be prepared." She turns and leaves Tishe` to continue about what she was doing. Falmar, rides around the edges of the fields that surround WatcHaven, he sees no traces of the large sized foot prints leading into the surrounding forests. He does spot some game trails, he also scares some of the wildlife, well he doesn't, his mount does. He also notices that the town's folk manage to give him a lot of room when he rides around as well.

Thar accepts the envoy's explanation and says with a polite nod, "Thank you for your honesty and hopefully we'll be able to work this out in a way that is beneficial for both our land and your kingdom."
He thinks for a moment about information they might need and says, "So essentially, you're asking us to help find the king and bring him to the kingdom and face their form of legal justice? I understand how we inadvertently broke the spells that controlled him, but wasn't that punishment enough? Furthermore, you know that the king's not going to come willingly and whoever tries to apprehend him will end up in a fight."
"In fact, I'm not sure how we'd even find him. Do you have any advice on how he or his men could be located?"
Pausing, he adds, "I'm still concerned about picking sides here. I see the queen's honor is besmirched by the king's adultery, but on the other hand, who are we to step in and essentially become her supporters? I also see that the king's throne was taken away from him by the queen, so his position is that a usurper is ruling his country... Aren't there other options besides a trial? What about a meeting between the two and an independent party, sort of a marriage counseling or mediation between two parties? Is there no room for her forgiving him? I'm trying to find a way that won't end in bloodshed between both of their forces... But I'm not ready to step in and take her or his side..."

Edmund folds his arms across his chest.
"I'm sure we all appreciate you coming down here to speak to us," he begins. "But I think that, given the gravity of what you are asking, it would behoove us to speak to the Queen herself before we take on any of these 'little tasks' that rightly ought to be her own business."
"Moreover," he continues, "I think this is hardly a particularly significant request given that the last run-in with the Queen's loyal servants nearly cost us our lives, and required that we fight them, to the death, in order to preserve ourselves from their unprovoked assault. --Upon which outcome those remaining fled, threatening death and retribution from your Queen! So, no, I don't think it is entirely prudent to join forces with a woman thus served--at least not until we can ascertain for ourselves, by speaking with her ourselves, what her motivation actually is."
Edmund looks to Thar and then back to the Ambassador. "What my friend here says is more than correct. You want us to knowingly take sides now, whereas before we were merely doing as anyone else would in helping a man we found along the road. In fact--" here Edmund pauses and looks at the Ambassador with his eyes flashing sternly "--in fact, we left him alone!. We spoke to him, and then left him alone and continued on our way! It was only after we were viciously attacked by your countrymen that we went back and tried to help him again. Had we not been assaulted by your Queen's guards, none of this would have happened!"
The sorcerer looks at Tishe and says, "Moral obligation, you say? There is your moral obligation. None of this would have happened but for the Queen's guards. Let them tend to it, then. We have done no more than anyone else might, and none of this would have happened but for their provocation. I'll be dashed if I am to be used as either faction's pawn again."

"But I am not like most others, and am determined to do more than most others might because I have been blessed with abilities that most others do not. And so have you. I feel that these abilities should be used to bring peace to others and take care of others in the Wold that may not otherwise be able to help themselves. Edmund (HP: 95/95, AC: 17, CMD: 20, Sp.Resist: 18) Tuesday October 18th, 2011 11:34:12 PM
Edmund looks aside and down, arms folded and lips pursed thinly. He clearly has formed a very negative opinion of both the Queen and the King, and everyone associated with them, at this point. No doubt it has something to do with the fact that they constantly disturb his quality of life. Stubborn he is, and has ever been, but not without cause. So, he voices those concerns which have been raised, doing his best to remain equanimous in his reply.
"All actions have unforeseen, negative consequences," he says firmly. "--Even the best actions. If we spend our lives trying to prevent any negativity that results from what we do, we'll spend an eternity in doing nothing or cleaning up, and in doing either we will only cause more problems, anyway."
"What is essential is that we accept responsibility for things in which we are knowingly culpable. In this matter, we were not knowingly culpable. Moreover, I have yet to see objective evidence that--even if we were--that we have done any wrong. So the Queen says one thing, and the King says another? Very well: let them sort it out themselves. After all, it's not our kingdom. They clearly have forces to handle this, they have their own laws, they have their own culture. Wherefore do we have the right, the arrogance, the presumption to pick sides based on our external interpretation of how things ought to be in someone else's kingdom, and then to try and choose what sort of society will result? For such will be the result of our actions."
"No," the sorcerer says. "Governing one tower is more than enough trouble for me. Even my faith in my not insubstantial capabilities is daunted at the prospect of choosing sides; a choice that will result in the future of a nation--a nation which is not my own, and whose culture, language, and people I am entirely ignorant of."
Edmund pauses and sighs before adding a further thought. "That said, I will abide by the wishes of the group, but if we decide to become involved, it will be against my judgement, and my assistance will be to adhere to those honourable oaths I have sworn, and for the preservation of that same honour in the assistance of my friends Thar and Revi, to whom I have been countless times indebted even to my very life."
Turning to Tishe, he adds finally, "If you are even remotely interested in sensible action, you won't rush into a decision again, right here, before you've met with, at the very least, the ambassador--if not the Queen herself. You have personally spoken to the King and promised to assist him. Will you now promise to assist the Queen, whose men have tried to deprive us of our lives, without even seeing her? I do not cherish the notion of being a pawn--but to be the pawn of a feckless, indecisive, and hasty leader is truly intolerable. Please try to exercise a little circumspection and patience?"
With that, the sorcerer falls silent, waiting for the arrival of the Ambassador.

IC: "Well, if he is returned, Alive, he will be brought to a trial by the Lords and Ladies of our Country to decide on his fate. He has been banished for quite a number of years, it may even be decided that he has paid enough for his crime. He may be allowed to regain the throne, or he may not, that would be decided by the Court. I very much doubt he'd be executed for a dalliance with a woman, whom he was not married to. As for finding him, I imagine you could follow the trail of missing animals, you know, like Cows and such. For getting into a fight, it would be by his choice that a fight would be started, not any who went to inform him he was to surrender himself further trial by the Court. It can be arranged for a visit to our Country for an interview with our Queen."

It would seem that perhaps there is more of a cultural misunderstanding here, perhaps, that is causing all of us to go off a bit half-cocked. Soldiers aren't diplomats. Soldiers fight, kill, defend. The Queen's "men" may have been only doing what the believed they had do do. He who believes his hands to be perpetually Black, starts to see everyone else in shades of White...
" It would seem that we still need to know more. Finding the King may help us understand what he faces and possible to better understand what caused the ruckus in the Tankards."
Not waiting for a response and seemingly unconcerned with the new arrival with the Witch, Falmar leaves to mount Dondit and sets out to patrol the countryside looking for dead cattle, or furious land holders.

Finally, he says, "OK, how about this as an option? We go and try to find the king. But when we do, we try to convince him to come voluntarily for some sort of mediation or counseling between him and his wife. We can explain that we're here peaceably and want to avoid further conflict between the king and his wife, and ultimately strife within his kingdom. If we can resolve it peacefully, he and his men can return home to their loved ones. .... That said, we will NOT force him to return home unless he wants to, and NOT force him to submit himself for a trial. Also, we will NOT give his location to the queen or any of her minions, so that the king can communicate with us freely without worrying about being taken against his will. It's essential we earn his trust and maybe try to get this settled."
"On the other hand, if the king doesn't want to come home voluntarily or enter into mediation, then we simply leave him, tell the queen we tried and it's not going to work and then let her find some other lackey's to go and capture her husband."

While everyone, except Falmar who is out riding his mount around the nearest fields and farms, are deciding just what to do about the King, the Queen, her Ambassador and their part in this whole convoluted mess they seem to be caught up in, there is a commotion out in the village square. As people head out to look at what is causing this ruckus, there is a group of 5 people standing in front of the Twin Tankards have a rather loud discussion. "I'm telling you, the Poster said this tavern on it. And that their last known encampment was on the out skirts of this hole in the wall, what is it they call this dung heap?" This is being said by a dwarf, who looks like he's just loaded down with weapons. A halfling answers him, "I believe it's called WatcHovel or something useless like that." She has a dozen knives visible scattered about her body. A 30ish human in a cloth three piece suit speaks up. "Don't even try telling me this is wrong, I have brought you four here at great expense, now give me my money and I'll leave you to your business." He holds out his hand, and the Dwarf hands over a pouch full of something that jingled. The man in the suit opens it up and then nods, vanishing in cloud of black smoke. The dwarf looks to another human, this guy is dressed in green leathers, "Find us their trail, there will probably be others here soon, and I aim to get that reward. Now, let's get going." The forth member of the group is another Dwarf, this one has bright orange hair cut in a mohawk. He has tattoos covering the rest of his visible skin. The group of four heads to the edge of WatcHaven and examines the Kings old camp ground.

Edmund smiles ever so slightly as he hears Tishe declare that the potential for leadership of the protectors is not what she desired. "Leadership?" he says rhetorically. "Well, that is something I have some famliar--"
But the sorcerer is interrupted in what would almost certainly be another very grand and eloquent speech as a group of what appear to be ne'er-do-wells arrives on the scene. Falling silent and listening, it is not long before Edmund puts his hands on his hips as he watches the development of events.
"Did they just call this a hovel?" he demands, quietly but breathlessly. "A hovel!? Edmundia is not a hovel! Well!"
The sorcerer fumes for a moment, watching the group head towards the King's former campsite. After a moment, he turns to his own companions, now speaking far more calmly.
"Let's go be diplomatic, then," he says, looking to Thar, Revi, Kahlan, and Tishe. "But something tells me that, this time, it will be swords that carry the day. This lot doesn't look much like the chatting type. I'll feel much better with a brace of weapons arrayed patiently behind me, ready to defend and protect. Maybe it won't be needed, but it will be a stern encouragement. I'll provide the carrot; just be ready with the stick, if we need it."
With that, Edmund proceeds down, slowly and in as non-threatening a way as he can, towards the new arrivals. As he approaches them, he raises a single hand, palm outward, and says, "Hail there, guests, and welcome to Watchaven. What brings you to our modest village?"
Edmund will then, if possible, get as much information out of them as possible: where they came from, who is employing them, who they are looking for, where they have been, and what sort of experience they possess.

Bliss edged the corners of her lips as she spoke, "The gods have blessed me today. Here I was, bored, sedentary in my daily works and seeking some diversion, even if it was fleeting in nature--and lo' you have come. Not one, or two, but four reprobates to brighten my day, and my blade."
She hadn't been long in Watchaven, but the time she had spent was unsatisfying. The call of battle, the hard edge of pain that accompanied the strike of the steel rending flesh and bitter bite of bone giving way to wielded blade--she missed it profoundly. She craved its lover's call, the prospect to wipe away the monotony that life heaped upon her day after tedious day.
Slowly drawing her two handed sword and beginning to breath deeper, heavier as she nearly started to pant in anticipation of the glorious bloodletting that was about to ensue--her voice a sultry mix of lust, passion and enthusiasm, she said invitingly, "There's a toll to be paid when you come into our town and show such wanton disrespect; The price for such stupidity? Pain and blood.

He calls out to everyone, "Please, let's not fight here and I'm sorry for my friend's reckless actions! I'm the town healer and I'll heal Gunther if you'll just stop fighting! There's no need for bloodshed!"
If the fight stops, he'll go and heal Gunther and Revi...

Even through the red haze of battle, Revi could tell the blow from the oddly haired dwarf was masterful--then there was the buzzing of flies, odd bits of screaming and shouting from her companions, especially from Edmund who was screaming like a little girl. The barbarian smiled and stepped back, letting the rage ease away after the dwarf had his say, then she felt the grip of the spell Edmund has just unleashed on her and she turned her head and grimaced at the mage for making an unfortunate error that was going to cost him. Planting the tip of her sword in the ground, her smile returned as she said enthusiastically, "Well met Gunther! You're not like your pansy friends, nor one of mine. You are indeed an asset to your race." Pointing to Gunther's massive chest wound, "My friend Thar will take care of that flesh wound for you and if you're up to it, your drinks are on me at the Twin Tankards," hiking a thumb over her shoulder, "Unless it's too early in the day to get your drink on?"
Smiling, Revi genuinely liked the orange-haired dwarf, he had balls, unlike one of her more effete companions-- also, she knew the proper way to start diplomatic talks with a dwarf. Waving off any attempt at healing her, Revi hoped Gunther would take her up on her offer.

The brown-haired woman scowls and gives meaningful glances at Thar, Snafu (wherever he is), and Kahlan. Of the original heroes thrown into Cinnamon Valley, they are the last, and they most understand the industriousness of the people and the reason they are here at WatcHaven in the first place. "Let us be with our new friends, my packmates, and save themselves and Cinnamon Valley from themselves."
As Tishe' follows the others to the inn, she mumbles to herself. "Gonna have to have a talk with some packmates before we leave WatcHaven, and gotta get some things straightened out. Packmates don't threaten other packmates for one. That's not the way I weave."

"You have no right to threaten anyone Revi" the invisible Snafu said. "You acted like a complete buffoon and you did it right in front of a bunch of townsfolk... kids included. Your lucky someone wasn't killed, and now you have the nerve to threaten Edmund? What he did was right and sensible. You should thank him, not threaten him."
"And for the record, if anything happens to Edmund you will face quick justice" Snafu promised. "That's the way it's going to be in this town. I will not let assualts go unpunished. This town deserves better from its protectors."

When a lull in her conversation with Gunther provides it, Revi will take the time to address Snafu's concerns, "Snafu, I understand your concerns, but what I did, I did. To be in the middle of combat and have someone who is supposed to have your back try to ensorcel you and give your opponent the opportunity to behead you in one swipe, no, I don't see that as reasonable behavior. I was the only one in danger and I have come to accords with these bounty hunters or at least one. It may have not been your way, or Edmunds way and yes, I was brash and reckless but when I acted, regardless of the situation I expect you and the rest to have my back. This Wold is filled with dangers untold, one day you may be ensorcelled to commit something you may not want to, or know something that cannot be conveyed in a few words and requires you to act or you just go on a gut feeling. I will be there to back you up, not second guess you, not attack you because some law says otherwise. As for my threat, all I said was 'Your day is coming', not 'You're dead' or anything to that effect. Burning one of Edmunds biscuits would have just a disastrous effect on the mage as punching him, believe me, he loves his tea and biscuits that much."
Edmund (HP: 95/95, AC: 17, CMD: 20, Sp.Resist: 18), Invisible Sunday October 23rd, 2011 11:50:25 PM
((OOC: We're working things on in e-mail and I've calmed down a bit. Please forgive this hot-headed player, who has none of Edmund's patience and who lacks the same arrogant little brat's redoubtable goodwill.))
Edmund knows that Tishe, Ramen, and Thar can handle everything that remains, especially the latter whom he knows to be more than capable at healing just about any sort of injury. Instead of going to the tavern for some merry-making (Edmund feels quite sick to his stomach from the sight of blood and gore), he stomps off to the tower where he ponders what to do.
Flinging the door open, he strides into the common room, talking to himself in a most agitated tone. "There are laws!" he exclaims. "We have them! We are the protectors here! And this--this is how we set the example for the townspeople! What good are laws if those who enforce them feel they need not follow them!? Chaos! Disorder! Lack of vittles! Rack and ruin!"
Edmund's face is actually quite red and he argues angrily in this way for quite some time. Eventually, he manages to settle down--largely because his mouth is dry and his voice is hoarse from rather a lot of shouting, and he needd to sit on account of feeling rather faint after the day's exertions.
"Something will have to be done," he says to himself quietly as he sinks into one of the armchairs. "Someone is going to have to speak to her. Can't have her greeting people with an axe blade. Lucky he seems an impossibly reasonable fellow. What if he weren't? Don't even like to think about it. She should have consulted us. Madness. Absolutely mad. And then what did she mean about my day coming? Quite out-of-control, I should think. What is one to do?"
Whilst this last, rambling, rhetorical monologue is delivered, Edmund closes his eyes and fiddles with his ring absently and, shortly thereafter, he disappears entirely.
Snafu - AC 30, HP 112/112 Monday October 24th, 2011 8:16:15 AM
Snafu took a deep breath to settle himself, paused and then spoke as calmly as he could.
"Revi, we do have your back. But we can't just go around chopping people with axes, especially unprovoked in this town. It sets the wrong example. The sight of seeing so much fury and bloodshed probably scared the life out of some of the kids too."
"Anyhow, you're right, what's done is done. We'll get past this, but in the meanwhile try to understand Edmund. From our perspective you assualted the dwarf and he was defending himself. Edmund was trying to stop you from killing him... that's all."
"But there is one other item of business" Snafu added. "I think the people that witnessed this attack deserve an explanation... their kids too. It would be best if it came from you."
"I'd go with you, if you wanted me too."
Thar, AC 27, 124/124 HPS Monday October 24th, 2011 10:56:54 AM
Thar waits until the furor ends and moves quickly to the dwarves side. "I'm sorry for my friend's attack on you but I guess she thought she was doing the right thing. Let me see those wounds and I'll get you stitched up. You may have a few scars but you'll be back to full strength before you know it."
He tends to the dwarves wounds, healing him where needed until he's back to full.
However, he does interject into the conversation between party members and says with a compassionate tone, "Revi, my dear friend. I must agree with the others on this one, that we can't go attacking people for no reason. We're the law here and we've got to set an example, and attacking visitors is not a hospitable way for the protectors of the community to act. I know he cast some spells on you but that was because he thought something was wrong with you or maybe you were suffering some sort of malady. We wouldn't have never let you be killed or injured by that dwarf and as Snafu said, we've got your back. And please, let's not make public threats against each other, as the townspeople need to see us unified. We've got enough on our plates without having to worry about a colleague sneaking into our room at night and doing us harm. I must say, at least for me, if anyone did go in and threaten or injure Edmund at night when he was sleeping, they'd have to answer to me personally. I'd do the same for you Revi if someone came into your room and threatened you. But I won't stand by while we fracture apart. As a great leader once said, united we stand and divided we fall."

Looking to Snafu in particular, "I'm not good with kids, best you handle it if you think it needs handling. If I talk to them, well, they may need therapy thereafter--kind and gentle words and me just don't mix."
Taking a deep breath, she continued, "As for Edmund, I would not hurt him. If I wanted too, I would have done so back there after he could have gotten me killed. If Gunther was of a mind for it, and I had fallen to Eddie's spell, he could have lopped my head off--then what? You don't know his mind, but I know his axe. He is a masterful axeman and I would not like to give him any advantage if we had to cross blades again--as I'm pretty sure I would lose in that contest. But fate is a fickle mistress, she doesn't always favor the deserving."

Very good question DM. How can a group claim to be the law of an area when the lawmen attack completely unprovoked.
That would be akin to a modern day police officer walking up to military personnel traveling to town on orders, shooting him, and saying, alright let's go have a drink, exchange war stories, and you tell me why you are here.
Most places with any kind of law would put said officer in jail to await a court day.
Imagine if drove to a new town and mentioned you didn't like the smell, and a police officer ran and started bashing you over the head with his baton.

I'm not much of a bounty hunter, but I do think it would be fun. Fun, but lethal. There's something about this king that ain't right. Quiet snoring seems to emanate from one of the chairs in the common room. Curious chair; snoring chair; what magics have ensorceled you thus? Is it not the heavy-lidded result of being left long unattended whilst matters of great moment transpire elsewhere? Here, in front of the fire, what chair would not sleep? Freed from the peculiarly abject nature of its function, it might revel in that otherwise numbing ignorance which furnishings are treated with.
When such consideration is but the preamble to the swift application of a swarthy person's overlarge fundament, perhaps it is better for a chair to remain quiet, unobtrusive, and unconsidered. And yet a cat may sleep upon it as an act of commiseration: the animate and the inanimate together united; one shunning, the other shunned, and both the happier for it. So let us rejoice at the prospect of the snoring chair; for it is a happy chair, and there is little enough happiness in the world that we should be glad of it when we observe it.

The young witch is thankful that Revi's unprovoked attack has not created any immediate major backlash. In fact at least with the mercenaries, it seems to have resolved itself quite nicely. I think we are out of time to wait around for a resolution if these mercenaries are showing up."
Tishe' is more worried about the Ambassador, Barry, and the Village Witch. She looks around, locking eyes with Snafu and Thar to meet up with the trio and see why the Cinnamon Valley folks are all shuttlecocked. "What's the pattern and where are the snags?", she asks in her most serious voice.

Per our DMs request, let's move on with the story and end the ooc conversation here.
Personnally, I think the non-judgemental, reasoned conversation we've been having is good, but this is not the place to have it. - Lynn's Cafe. This board is for arguments. Nothing much is happening there right now and we can pretty much take it over for this conversation if we want. - Email. We can keep it on email if we want.
The DMs and/or this ACDM will delete all future oocs on this Board that deal with Revi's attack on Gunther and succeeding action/reactions.

Same goes for Snafu the Liontaur and his magical tricks of the trade."
"In any event, you raise a good point" Snafu continued in a more serious tone. "This town is still trying to get it's feet firmly under it. Sometimes we don't always exercise our best judgement, but I think we can all agree that turning visitors into skewered beef isn't the preferred approach."

I'm not saying I want to have a hostile relationship with them, but I don't want to set a precedent for dealing with future issues or visitors. But I'll honor whatever the party decides, as we've got enough on our plate with the king vs. queen problem."
He is happy to speak with Tishe' outside (I think that's what you intended Steve). Inside the Tavern, with Revi and Gunther.
" Ah, curse the luck. I dinna think it was my sparkling good looks that attracted ya in the first place." Gunther downs the first shot of whiskey placed before him. When the barkeep returns and fills his glass agian the dwarf looks at him and says," Leaving the bottle would make yer job alot easier, else I think your arm will get tired of pourin' before I get tired of drinkin'." The second shot gets dumped on the mostly healed and stitched wound that Thar was kind enough to close. Though the alcohol must sting like a hot coal against tender skin the berserker never flinches. Turning back to Revi , Gunther continues, " It's too bad you don't wanna tag along. The bounty is far too rich for this to be an easy catch, ten thousand gold in gems is quite a prize, especially if you know a gnome who can double that when he sets them in jewelry. " He reaches into his pocket and withdraws a folded up poster. On it is stated clearly that 10,000gp in gems will be awarded to the first person to bring the Deposed King Akhum to Queen Adeela in Masa Samak. The bounty is clearly for a living Akhum, since it mentions he is to stand trial for adultery. " These posters were hung in most tavern's and hiring halls in Plateau City. Me and me boys got that hopped up mage to teleport us here so that we could get a head start. With a price like that on his head I can't see as we will be the only ones lookin' for him either. Kinna ye tell me how he is guarded? Ye seem to know somethin' about him since you want to know about our bounty. Maybe there's a finders fee in it if the information proves helpful." During this entire exchange Gunther's glass continually gets lifted, emptied into his mouth, set down and then refilled only to be poured into his mouth once again. It is astounding how he can still be able to string one thought into the next much less speak at this point.
Outside, in the street with Thar,Tishe, and Snafu the other three Bounty Hunters answer questions and pose more of their own.
Uther, the heavily armed and armored dwarf answers Snafu's question even before the liontaur pops into view." Does my brother appear to you as if he would give a rat's arse if you were a girl or not. He thinks most things that don't involve you standing half naked and screaming obscenities at a hundred screaming orcs that want you dead is effeminate somehow. Hell, he calls me a Nancy Nervouspants for wearing all this bloody armor instead of trustin' in a few tattoos and a bad attitude to stop blades from killin' me. Our family has a rich tradition that one member of the clan must be a Berserker and uphold the clan name. Gunther is older and therefore HE got the choice of who that clansman might be. Of course he is also crazier than a hatch full of boobies, at least that's what Ma always said. So don't take it personal like." At this time Snafu pops into view and Paddy, the halfling wearing all of the knives nearly leaps out of his skin. GADZOOKS MAN!! You're onena them Wemic thinggees . We don't see alot of them where I come from. When Gunther said he would show us the sights boys he weren't half kiddin. First that bar in Plateau City and now this town. All we gotta do is catch that fella and take him to that Queen and we'll all be rich!"
When Thar mentions that only citizens deserve the right to not be outright attacked as they passed through town the mood goes from cordial to far more calculating. Paddy looks terrified and the tall cloaked figure seems to be scaning the square, looking for and exit. Uther is the first to speak, " Hold on there a second. I know ye healed my brother up and all but are you saying that because we are not from here it's alright for someone, anyone to just rush up to us and drive a sword clean through us? Not sure I like that, not sure at all. Paddy, Get Gunther out here. I think we need to be going to collect that bounty. I know I'LL be passing wide of this place on our return trip." His hands stray to his weapons, but it seems just for comfort, he does not draw them. Perhaps the memory of Gunther, unarmed and spitted on Revi's sword makes him think worse would happen to an actual ARMED dwarf.

Revi examines the poster carefully, "I'll be honest with ya Gunther, as I'd not like you to get killed before we become better friends--and you are a might handsome dwarf, but I've got other commitments, if you know what I mean. Anyways, 10,000gp is not enough. This king and his entourage, they're powerful. One in particular is his right hand man, Bohamm. Quick to temper and has the power to back it up." Shaking her head, "Definitely not enough. Be careful with this mission of yours, Gunther." Revi then proceeds to tell the dwarf all the necessary info he requires--number of guards, typical camp layout, guard shifts, arms and armor and apparent powers and abilities. "Good hunting, Gunther. May your axe find the heart of your enemy with every strike."

Kahlan couldn't explain it but she truly liked the witch. Maybe it was her practical level headed approach to everything or perhaps it was her sincere concern for others.
Kahlan enters the bar and listens to Revi and Gunther's conversation as she gets a drink of her own. Domi knows she needs it.

The other three mercenaries are outside with Thar and Snafu and herself with the Ambassador, Barry, and the village Witch waiting either patiently or stormily. Tishe' turns to the ones whose presence is really going to decide things, the Ambassador, Barry, and the village Witch. "What snags are in the pattern?", she asks, hoping the Ambassador hasn't given an ultimatum to the Cinnamon Valley.

Out in the street
The ambassador answers without any preamble." Snags? Whatever do you mean? All is proceeding as it should be. The posters have clearly been hung in every tavern and hiring hall in the Wold and worthy hunters come to return Akhum to stand trial for his crime. The Queen had hoped your town peacekeepers would rise to the occasion and bring him in, but you had not seemed inclined to do so. If the enticement of 10,000 gold in gems interests you more than him being brought to justice then the Queen has authorized me to pay you for the service." Morgantha looks on awkwardly, but says nothing. Barry says" The Pitchfork Council would require proof that Akhum has committed some crime in order to allow him to be taken from our lands. Do not think that just by hiring some thugs you can just waltz in here and..." Ambassador Asra cuts him off and says " As I assured you before I am all the proof you need of Akhum's adultery. If not for his crime I would not even exist. Do I need to spell this out for you again?" Her eyes blaze with anger at having to publicly announce the circumstances of her birth, but she states the proof for Barry again and for Tishe to hear as well. " The former king WILL be brought back to Masa Samak, and will stand public trial for his crime, and he will pay for it. Thus it is written in the Laws and this shall it be carried out. The Pitchfork Council's assistance in this matter would be appreciated, but is in no way required. Already the hunters come for him. Sooner or later they will find him and return him to the Queen. It is inevitable." The ambassador turns on her slipper shod heel and walks away towards the Twin Tankards and her room, leaving Morgantha, Tishe and Barry standing in the street watching her walk away. Barry does not seem happy.
Inside the Twin Tankards
Kahlan and Ramen, have settled in the bar where they have ordered drinks and are listening to the conversation, a very civil one at that, between Revi and Gunther. Revi and Gunther have just finished discussing the who, what, where, and why's of Akhum's camp. He seems to be considering her words when Paddy, the young female halfling from Gunther's group, bursts into the tavern and runs up to Gunther, nimbly avoiding 2 serving wenches and at least 4 patrons without breaking her stride. Winded she says to the dwarf, " Uther sent me to fetch you. The other Protector's out there are saying we aren't citizens and have no right to claim grievance if someone," Her eyes dart to and then quickly away from Revi," should run up and stick one of us with a sword. Uther wants no repeats of what happened a few minutes ago and wants to leave. NOW." Gunther protests that it must have been some hot head that said such a thing but Paddy plunges on. " Nuh-uh, it was that nice cleric fella that stitched you up said it. He sounded like he was pretty serious and none of them said no when he said it. I can't take a hit like that, boss. I work in the shadows and toss my blades, accurate as a marksman, but I don't have the strength to be wounded like that and live." Her eyes flick to Revi again, making sure she is well out of reach of Revi's sword and that it is still on the human woman's back where it can't hurt her. An angry look crosses Gunther's face and he stands up to leave. As he does so the Whiskey hits him and he grips the table edge for a moment. Wood cracks and splinters as his grip must be quite fierce. Clearly he is angry. Probably his better judgement has been impaired by his rapid draining of the whiskey bottle. The likelihood that he will say or do something foolish rises as Paddy can see that he IS drunk. She goes pale as a ghost since Gunther has never allowed ANYONE, not even that fire giant that one time, make threats toward his brother. " I'm sure, sure he didn't mean it as a threat Gunther, but Uther wants to make sure nothing bad happens. Please don't be mad. There are a lot more of them than us. I'm sure it will be alright so long as we just get out of town nice and quiet and peaceful like." She is hanging from his forearm as he walks away from the table and straight arms the door off of it's hinges.
Outside, Snafu and Thar continue to talk, unaware that they may have said something to anger the dwarven Berserker. Seeing the door fly off the tavern and the inebriated Dwarf standing in the door fuming the only comment to be heard comes from Shadow. It is a simple line, but clearly one he gets to use fairly often. " Now you've done it. Here we go again."
Thar, AC 27, 124/124 HPS Wednesday October 26th, 2011 5:17:18 PM
Thar calmly listens to the mercenaries (Uther mostly) complaint about fairness and laws and such. With a patient but firm tone, tone he says, "Yes, maybe it would be good if you did leave town. Know this though... you're welcome to pursue your business, but if you endanger any of the townsfolk while carrying it out, you will answer to us. Our duty is to protect them and among them are many who are dear to my heart. If you act peacefully, then we should get along fine."

Tishe' feels as unhappy as Barry looks, like things that have been looking so hopeful for the orphaned heroes has quickly spiraled so out of control that disaster looms in every direction. The actions and words of her packmates have made many people decidedly edgy in and out of the group, the Masa Samak are sending hordes of mercenaries into the Valley looking for Akhun, and now it looks like the very tough mercenary is all shuttlecocked again!
"Here we go again", she mutters, unconsciously echoing Shadow. And then louder.
"Both groups just recently stopped beating on each other, why start again? Gunther, you and Revi have solved your differences. Be Content."
"Uther and Thar. As Protectors we'll protect any innocent person in the Cinnamon Valley, and that includes Uther and his team. Revi's attack on Gunther was a mistake, but they are over it. We're not going to do any unprovoked attacks on people, that's not right. Stop spinning up and getting all shuttlecocked!"
"I'll separate us if needs be, but I don't think we need to resort to more blood."

"Thar, visitors to this town should be entitled to a few basic rights. One of those rights should be to not get skewered in half for no good reason. Without rights like those this town will die... make no mistake about it."
Snafu considered his companions carefully and soon realized that they probaby made better criminals than sherriffs. I'm a former thief... Revi is nuts... Edmund is completely self-absorbed... what a gong show
Snafu snapped back to reality when the ambassador stormed off.
"That reaction reveals much" he said. "Apparently the Queen doesn't give one willy nilly about the laws of our land or our council. Our borders are likewise meaningless to her. This will not end well... with so little respect what would stop her from one day taking this land for herself."
"We need to make our presence felt within our borders. These bounty Hunters need to know that they have no right to act against the King when he is within our borders. On second thought, we need to find him and protect our jurisdictional rights by protecting him."

But at least he would find some common ground with the Paladin. Edmund always had a fondness for them--and small wonder; they are the only people who love goodly order as much as he does.
Nevertheless, the snoring continues, the fire burns warmly, and invisible white robes remain unfouled by invisible red blood and invisible blonde hair.

After all, human diplomacy is something I've never been skilled at... " Mouth twisting in a smile, he adds wryly, "After all, if we start a fight, then I'm the one who's going to have to heal them and us afterwards, and that's a lot of work... However, what do you want to do about the ambassador's comments that they'll get the king by anyway possible?... I'm concerned about innocent bloodshed in the future..."
Louder so that others can hear, he says to Gunther and Unther, bowing his head slightly, and trying to improve relations... "My apologies if my comments weren't stated clearly and I'm sorry if it seemed I was threatening you. That was not my intention"

Gunther has stalked nearly in front of Thar when the man retracts any threatening words. The vein that had been pulsing hard and strong in the dwarf's forehead recedes a bit. He continues to flex the hand that the axe appeared in, but nothing bad happens. In a tightly drawn voice he speaks, his eyes not leaving the group of heroes." SHadow, get us out of town, headed toward the last known spot for a camp, that intel is still good. Other things I will discuss with you once we are on the road. Make it happen people." Turning to Revi, his face softens a bit and he says, " Thats a hard way to sober up. May your foes wet themselves and run before you, and may I never become one of them. Fare the well lass." "Thar, I don't like what the Ambassador has said nor what the Queen has done. But that doesn't mean we should be able to attack anyone who is holding a bounty poster. I think anyone should be able to move about as long as they obey the laws of Cinnamon Valley. When anyone breaks the peace, that's when we interfere. And just because the Queen has made our position very difficult, I don't think that gives us the justification to start cutting threads."
The witch turns to Barry with new worry lines. "That said, I think the best way to ensure there aren't fights and bounty hunters, and violence all over Cinnamon Valley is to find the King ourselves. Whether we knock him on the head and take him to Masa Samak, convince him to come in for an arbitrated settlement, or just get him to leave a trail out of Cinnamon Valley is not as important as protecting the people of the Valley."
Tishe' hopes the others agree with her and can quickly get set and moving to be ahead of most of the bounty hunters.

Snafu - AC 30, HP 112/112 d20+22=24 ; Tuesday November 1st, 2011 4:48:17 PM
OOC- sorry... Halloween and all.
"I vote we go find the King" Snafu said. "And if any bounty hunters try to stop us in our land, they should be taken down and brought to justice. We can't just sit around when stuff like this is happening."
...
Snafu heard and saw the mass of whatever charging towards his beloved town.
"Jeepers creepers!" he said. "Something is coming..."
Kahlan Palance -- AC 18/17/13 -- CMD 32 -- HP 132/158 Tuesday November 1st, 2011 7:21:58 PM
Kahlan's good-bye post is in the DM post.
Revi AC30/16/30 | 140/185HP | CMD 37 d20+17=30 ; Tuesday November 1st, 2011 8:25:56 PM
Not knowing Kahlan very well, Revi's goodbye was short and sweet. When she had gone, she quietly turned to Thar and asked, "Who is Skalipy?"
When the tremble is felt, Revi notices what the others have seen, "Probably elephants, or maybe some domesticated Bullette's, now that wold be interesting!"
DM - JC Big and Bold Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 9:17:25 AM
Coming around the corner of the house that was blocking it's view from those at the tower is an elephant. It looks like it's seen some tough times, it's left tusk is broken off at about 1/2 it's length, while the other tusk is capped with a steel tip, that looks decidedly sharp. It's wearing a harness which allows it to pull the house sized cage behind it. Well, maybe not house sized, but it is huge none the less. It looks like a very sturdy cage, well made with thick steel bars and cross braced with even more steel. It's mounted on 8 of the biggest wheels any of you have ever seen, they must be at least 12 feet across. Lost due to the size of the cage and the elephant is a much smaller shed mounted at the front of the cage, it's about 12 feet wide and about 8 feet tall, mounted on a platform built on the front of the... dare I say it, wagon. Sitting at the front of the shed, is a minotaur, he's as scared as the elephant, but at least he still has both of his horns.
Pulling up in front of the tavern, he yells out in Tauric, "Whoa there Mabel, we're stopping here for a bit." The elephant stops it's forward movement and just stands there and the Minotaur swing to the side and climbs down the cage by useing the cross members as a ladder.
The village children gather round and are staring at the elephant, since it's the first they've ever seen.

Ramen Elowyn AC 24 (AC 27), CMD 25, HP 105/105 Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 12:22:56 PM
Ramen rides in on his own new steed. A brown mare. The coat of Pantheon covers her flanks. " Well Marigold, I'd say we have company."
Tishe' (AC:23 CMD:16 HP 108/108) Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 12:48:46 PM
The witch's pock-marked face frowns sadly as she responds to Revi. "Skalipy is a devotee of Marteus and had a kidnapping and murder ring that we broke up just before you arrived. He got away, but not before capturing, torturing, and then killing Kahlan's partner. We have always intended to track him down and end his threat, but have been sidetracked by the Masa Samak problem." ........
Tishe' continues to have her Broom fly higher to get a good look at the... well, animal. "It looks like a Ranthom with feet!", she says incredulously. The brown-eyed witch keeps her distance from the walking Ranthom's tentacle, having been swallowed by one while on the Sargrass Plains.
Circling above, she feels she needs to establish some communication, and calls down to the scarred minotaur. "Many Shadows", she calls in greeting, "I am Tishe' Weaver of the Cinnamon Protectors. On behalf of the Pitchfork Council and legal authority in Cinnamon Valley, I must ask your intentions with your... elephant and your presence at WatcHaven."

Thar, AC 27, 124/124 HPS Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 2:28:26 PM
Thar looks up and up and finally can see the top of the massive elephant. It seems that they've got another bounty hunter to deal with, and he shakes his head, saying in a frustrated tone, "You've got to be kidding me... This keeps getting better and better..." He lets Tishe' do the diplomatic stuff and focuses on keeping the children away from the elephant, making sure that it doesn't accidentally eat or crush any of the little ones...
Revi AC30/16/30 | 140/185HP | CMD 37 Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 4:41:29 PM
In response to the Skalipy incident, "Huh, I would leave too if such a thing happened. This Skalipy character needs to be brought to justice, far moreso than a philandering king."
Walking up to the minotaur and hearing what Tishe says, Revi adds as she thumbs toward her, "What she said. I'm Revi, also a protector of this valley." Then pointing to the elephant, "That is one nice elephant! I know a halfling that's been dying to get one. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it and how much did it cost you?"
Snafu - AC 30, HP 112/112 Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 5:10:24 PM
"What do we have here" Snafu said in shock when the Minotaur pulled in.
"Welcome to Watchhaven" Snafu said in Tauric as he bowed slightly. "Snafu is my name. Saying hello to visitors is my game."
"So what brings you to our not-so-quiet little town?" he asked soon after.
Edmund (HP: 95/95, AC: 17, CMD: 20, Sp.Resist: 18), Invisible d20+22=40 ; Wednesday November 2nd, 2011 11:48:34 PM
Edmund moves up to Thar's side, "What's an ephuhlunt? That thing? Good heavens!"
The sorcerer will try to greet the visitors and learn as much about them as courtesy can manage. After his rest, he is in top form, and simply radiates gentility. (Diplomacy=40)
