Alexi AC 25 Tch 12 Ffted 22 HP 66/66 CMD 22
Thursday November 17th, 2011 10:06:11 PM

Alexi isn't particularly tired, having been suspended for who knows how long. He feels edgy and needing to stretch his muscles so he starts moving things into the tower. He moves those boxes and things that one person can move unless another offers to help.

After doing the best he can, he finally retires to his room. Removing his armor and putting on some spare clothes from his backpack, he lays there in bed wondering how he is to find his horse. If he'd known what was going to happen when the idiot talked to the ring, he could have mounted Lobo and thus both would have been transported. But as it turned out, since he didn't return to his starting point, returning to the Iron Adventurers' starting point instead, His horse...

'Shoot, that was so long ago who knows where Lobo could be by now. I sure hope he's all right. He has my Mailed Fist saddle blanket so maybe someone returned him to the nearest battalion for a finder's fee. Looks like I'll be needing to send out some letters.

Alexi falls asleep and dreams of looking for a teeny-tiny horse in the middle of a haystack of humongous size.

Beltrin sleeps soundly, dreaming of what he might do with the new-found wealth. He rises early, stretches out the kinks and soreness that are inevitable when one gets battered around by skeletons, trolls and various giant insects. His head cleared, he studies his spellbooks and eats a leisurely breakfast.

So much to do back in the city! But I guess that I'll wait around for this master decorator to show up, it might be amusing. In the meantime, he unpacks a few of the crates and looks for some furniture that might fit his simple tastes.

Beriothian (Will)-- AC:22/16/16 HP:57/57 CMD = 22
Thursday November 17th, 2011 11:11:31 PM

Beriothian retires to his room, making a mental checklist of the days events. How could the rogue have overlooked the fact that their group has no way to cure poison? More than once the elf has watched members of the group gather poisons objects, Beri himself had poisoned himself numerous times on a particularly fetish trap on a door lock. When morning comes he will need to remember to discuss restocking the group-loot with a few life saving necessities.

Thursday November 17th, 2011 11:36:26 PM

After thinking back on Twice reputation, Bosk decides a better course of action is to seek out Heather Bodrey, a peculiar healer in Mud Town who might be sympathetic to his cause. While he is there he will see if she may have a cure for Zane that will speed along his recovery.

Restlin (Carl) -- AC: 14/12/12 CMD: 15 HP:43/43 (Spells) - Wand charges: 41
Friday November 18th, 2011 6:08:23 AM

Obviously, Restlin underestimated the poison's affect on Zane. He doesn't beat himself up too badly about this seeing as he's no healer and was obviously stunned by their new found fortune.

It's no night for drinking, though. The Iron Adventurers have stuff to do!

Seeing Bosk head out to find someone else to heal Zane, he realizes that this is something they should be able to do for themselves. He wracks his brain to think of some way his talents with magical scrolls and wands can be useful in creating the goodies they need, but darned if he can figure out how to make wands for spells he can't possibly cast (OOC: thought I could make a wand of CSW, but the Pathfinder rules state I can only create them for spells I know). Looks like the group will have to pay retail. He'll seek out Zeoll to find out how many chits they earned fighting in the ring.

Seeing how well taken care of they are at the moment, a good chunk of their loot should probably go towards keeping everyone alive.

"Tomorrow, " he decides before he finally hits the sack and sleeps, "I should start putting together some scrolls for us."

The morning after/DM Buzz
Friday November 18th, 2011 11:25:45 AM

The group gathers in the tower and calls it an early night as the recent events have taken a toll on all, in different manners.

In the morning, a very flamboyant middle aged man comes by. He introduces himself Vani Whimpledinkle. He has three younger men with him that act very subservient to this master decorator.

Upon walking into the tower, the first thing he notices is a crack in the floor, he tells one of his men to make a note to have that fixed. "Nooowww darrrrlingssss , tell me a bit about each of you so that I can bring your character out in this....this.....semi adequate dwelling." His hands and body moves in large swooping patterns.

Once the preliminary meeting with the decorator is done, the group goes about other business. Some want to go to Mudtown. Others want to gather magical aids for future needs. Perhaps a few mundane torches wouldn't take up to much space either?

(ooc: Vani is a high level Elemental Specialist. He can help make rooms bigger or smaller, with magical additions if you desire, within the reason of physics of course. Supporting walls are still a necessity.)

Restlin (Carl) -- AC: 14/12/12 CMD: 15 HP:43/43 (Spells) - Wand charges: 41
Friday November 18th, 2011 6:08:08 PM

"Well," Restlin starts, "this semi adequate dwelling is haunted by two little girls who knocked him <points to Bosk> clean out. Just a word of warning. You may want to watch what you say.

"Not that I'm disagreeing with you, far from it! Anyway, enough about the tower. Let's talk about me. You see, Master Whimpledinkle, I'm in a jam. I'm a wizard of some fair ability without a place to scribe my scrolls, brew my potions, and do all the other sundry tasks that occupy my time. I don't even have a proper stand for my spellbook. I have faith you can remedy this situation. Now, I have a feeling my fine companions here, and they are fine companions Master Whimpledinkle, but I have a feeling they will talk about their desire for simple surroundings. The liontaur there <points to Zeoll> may want something organic, for example. That is all fine, of course; some people enjoy the simpler things in life. Master Whimpledinkle, I am not one of those people.

"You seem to know your thing, Master Whimpledinkle, so I will trust you with this basic requirement: I want luxury. I want to to push the line between elegant and gaudy, but...and this is important...I don't want to cross that line."

Furnishing seen to, he turns his attention to Zeoll. He's pretty sure Zeoll was holding their chits from the ring. It seems like something Zeoll would do. "We should all have a share of the booty, I'm sure, but setting aside a group fund for items to make sure we don't lose a member to poison and whatnot would also be a worthwhile investment, don't you think? I'm thinking a few potions to cure poison and disease should be purchased before splitting the remainder up. How much was our total haul, anyway?"

Zeoll (HP35 of 35, AC22, CMD17)  d20+5=18 ;
Friday November 18th, 2011 6:13:04 PM

Zeoll explains some of his long history to the designer, eager as always to learn and share information. He mentions his early life in the wild part of Liontaur Isle, sleeping under the stars, hunting small game. Then his time with a band of liontaurs, centaurs, and minotaurs, trying to bring peace to a troubled part of the Wold. Three years spent dead in the Lands of Rest. A return to life, and quests won and lost. Then a period of quiet wandering. And finally a new home in Hook City.

The liontaur does his best to speak knowledgeably with the designer about the internal structures and parts of the tower. Bard-Trained Knowledge Engineering 18.

Zeoll adds to what Restlin is saying. "I sleep out of doorrs, in the rrooftop garrden, and all I might need is a simple awning to keep the rrain off. Howeverr, I would like a small rroom forr two young girrls, with toys and nice beds and a place to play. They may be dead, but that does not mean they should not have a rroom of theirr own."

OOC: I remain personally confused about loot and treasure. Could someone go back through the module and figure it out? Or I can, but it'll be next week.

ooc: As you wish, here is the treasure count (I added the totals in white chits at the end. A red is worth 5 white, an orange is worth 3 red):

Zombie fight:
Coffin #1: 5 white chits
Coffin #2: 1 red chit (5 white)
Coffin #3: 1 orange chit (15 white)
Coffin #4: 5 white chits

First two fights:
The hole on the left holds a solid gold urn with no lid upon it. Inside the urn is many White Chits (fifteen total) and two Red Chits. (25 white)
The hole on the right has a blue satin pillow with 1 Orange Chit and two Red Chits, resting easily upon it. (25 white)

Extra Centipede Fight:
A new hole in the floor opens. Inside is a green satin pillow with three red chits. (15 white)

I believe that is 95 white chits, worth a total of 9,500 gold.

Zane, waking up in the morning and still feeling clumsy as all get out, heads down stairs with the rest of the group, as the gaudy person starts asking what each is looking for. He'll wait, until the others have gone and then speaks up.
"Contrary to popular belief, I also enjoy the finer things in life, just what I consider as things is far different from some others is all. I'm interested in a comfortable bed. A couple lanterns that can be shuttered as to block the light, as well as a small bookcase. A nice mat on the flood so as to absorb somewhat any falls that should be taken. I also would love swing rings or posts of varying height to keep up my practice of acrobatics and such.

"Zane, Bosk has gone to visit a friend of ours that may be able to help with your condition. For once, I agree with Restlin, we need to invest in some magic to keep ourselves upright. I know that I've sucked more life out of Kyan's wand than I deserve."

Beltrin greets the designer with one raised eyebrow Well, not the sort of man I'd normally consort with, but best to be cordial, no sense in making him angry. "Well-met sir, my room could certainly use some improvement. I prefer simple things, although of the highest quality. I need a well-lit space to continue my magical research, both in books and with my tools. And of course, a comfortable bed and a chair for reading would be most appreciated." As he starts to turn away, he pauses as if thinking twice "Oh, and who did you say we have to thank for your services?"

OOC: Thanks for putting that list together Will. I think that we should get another wand of CLW (and Kyan shouldn't need to chip in for it, I know that Beltrin and Zane used up quite a few charges). And either a wand or a few scrolls of lesser restoration.

At the designers arrival, Kyan simply leans on his door frame and waves and a hand at the men when they go to take a look at his room. The carpentry tools, saw horses and a layer of saw dust can be seen behind him as well as the makings of various pieces of plain, though sturdy pieces of furniture. "I'm good. Maybe could use a lamp."

OOC: Of course the party rogue had the list of wealth. He probably has a list of ALL the characters wealth sorted by easiest to grab by value. I'm all for loot going towards party items before being split up. Another wand, some scrolls, etc.

Also FYI I plan on swapping Kyan out soon with another character due to the APG being introduced

Alexi AC 25 Tch 12 Ffted 22 HP 66/66 CMD 22
Friday November 18th, 2011 11:05:27 PM

Alexi watches the goings-on and is a bit perplexed at seeing them count something called 'chits'. The group seems to think what they have is a lot. A lot of what? Alexi scratches his head.

"Yesterday you guys mentioned a cost to become a citizen and move about this city legaly. How much is that in those chit thingies? I could seek some temporary employment to help pay it back."

Alexi explains to the decorator, "I like the open spaces, the grasslands and such. Besides a comfortable bed and a writing desk, I'd like some paintings of the countryside to hang on the walls. A mapcase to store maps would do nicely too. A modest wardrobe should top it off. Now, if it also within your jurisdiction, a small stables somewhere on ground level would be a good thing too."

Bosk AC: 20/11/18 CMD:20 HP 61 of 61 Spells
Saturday November 19th, 2011 12:21:10 AM

Ah yes, Chits...they are the monetary system of Hook CIty. I'm afraid if you want to earn some Chits you'll have to stay with us for a while. It is pretty much impossible to make money in the city with out getting licensed and going through mountains of paperwork first. The chit is a magical currency only used within the city, and each colored chit is the equivalent to a specific level spell. In fact, you can choose chits of a certain spell and use the chit to cast the spell, in essence using your money up. That said, it is an expensive way to cast a spell.

The chit system is as follows:

100 gp = 1 white chit = 1 Cantrip*
500 gp. = 5 white chits = 1 red chit = 1 1st Level Spell*
1,500 gp. = 3 red chits = 1 orange chit = 1 2nd Level Spell*
3,000 gp. = 2 orange chits = 1 yellow chit = 1 3rd Level Spell*
6,000 gp. = 2 yellow chits = 1 green chit = 1 4th Level Spell*
12,000 gp = 2 green chits = 1 blue chit = 1 5th Level Spell*
24,000 gp. = 2 blue chits = 1 indigo chit = 1 6th Level Spell*
48,000 gp. = 2 indigo chits = 1 violet chit = 1 7th Level Spell*
96,000 gp. = 2 violet chits = 1 black chit = 1 8th Level Spell*
192,000 gp. = 2 black chits = 1 clear chit = 1 9th Level Spell*

Upon entering the city you are typically accessed by interrogators. As for as wealth goes, the interrogators only measure your financial wealth, not your personal wealth, so if you are bringing objects into the city for sell, they will be appraised. In other words, don't try to sell your gear unless you do it in the Catacombs, unless you declare the items for sell when you enter.

No one may leave the city with Chits. All money made or earned while in the city must be converted back into a precious metal standard of coin. If anyone came into the city with one thousand gold pieces and they convert five hundred of that into Chits. The remaining five hundred gold is all but worthless unless it is getting smelted down into jewelry. If they earned ten White Chits when they are done with their selling, those White Chits must be converted back to gold or whatever at the current exchange rate of the city, when they leave. Those ten White Chits may not leave the city proper. (Any other questions on this, please do not hesitate to ask. I want us all to be sure we understand how this works.)

Exchange rates are based daily (Game day, not our time)

1%-10%, there is a 10% decrease in the value of gold.
11%-40% there is a 5% decrease in the value of gold.
41%-60% the exchange is even.
61%-90% there is a 5% increase in the value of gold.
91%-100% there is a 10% increase to the value of gold.

Characters will not know the exchange rate until they attempt to enter or leave. (That is when the DM will roll the percentage.) I cannot tell you how long it took us to get used to the currency here, and we are still adapting to the mounds of paperwork. I am personally thinking about hiring someone to do all my paperwork for me.

Beriothian (Will)-- AC:22/16/16 HP:57/57 CMD = 22
Saturday November 19th, 2011 12:29:18 AM

As the early rays of dawn find there way into the tower window the party rogue begrudgingly emerges from the warmth of his sparsely furnished bedroom. Things have a way of changing rapidly in Hook City, a stark difference from his Elven homeland. Back home little changes from decade to decade, yet here even your closest companions seem to change on an almost daily basis. Of course, it was his monotonous life as an elf and a desire to experience such changes that drove the elf to leave his village in the first place.

The elf slowly makes his way down the stairs and heads into the kitchen. As he prepares his first pot of coffee he catches a glimpse of the two spectral girls running around the corner. He wonders briefly whether they are excited about finally getting their home furnished after years of the place being abandoned. As the rest of the party starts to make their way down for breakfast talk turns to purchasing antidotes and healing wands.

I thought about that last night as well. We definitely need a way of curing poison, we would have been at a huge loss if Zane had been incapacitated, or worse. And a wand has proven invaluable when healing, I would hate to run out of charges when we need it most. I know of a few specific things I need to pick up in the near future as well in order to do my job better. Are there any other items we think would be wise to purchase as a group?

As Beri finishes his coffee he sees a flamboyant man enter the kitchen and start talking about increasing the ambiance of the room, and the rogue immediately guesses that this must be the decorator. After a few moments Beri starts to answer the man's questions.

A little about myself? Hmm... well, I suppose more than anything I resemble what the humans refer to as a renaissance man. As an elf I've had the time to learn a lot of skills, and I see my versatility is one of my greatest strengths. I am a man of finesse and precision, though at the young age of 100 I still occasionally let my excitement get the best of me. Despite looking the part of a rogue, I am still an elf and miss having a bed built for someone of my tall stature and covered with the fabrics of my homeland. As for my style, I like dark woods and leather furniture, and will need a few book cases. Probably also a table to work on my hobbies in the back.

The rogue leans in a little closer to the decorator and whispers.
And just between you, me, and Wardd, can you add one of those bars hidden inside an old giant globe of the Wold?

ooc: If you are planning on swapping Kyan out then Beri really will need to create a list of your inventory sorted by easiest items to pilfer >.>

Saturday November 19th, 2011 12:47:43 AM

Bosk takes a while to think about the layout for his room. I would appreciate anything you could do to make my room a bit larger. I spend much time in prayer and in constructing magical and achemical items, these areas would be best on the outside of room along with a huge bed. As you can see, I have a wide selection of large weapons and armor that I must be able to store. Space and storage are essential to me... Do you mind if we speak a little more privately for a minute?

Once the group is out of hearing range he asks Vani, the high level Elemental Specialist, about his abilities and confidentiality. Among the special features he asks for is a few secrete compartments that open into some sort of non dimensional space that only the cleric can access, preferably where any magical abilities are temporarily suspended. Although he doesn't reveal the reason, at least one of them would be to hide the teleporter the group has hidden, buried deep beneath the ground under their shop in Mud Town, that can take them to the Temple of the Illithad where a great evil still remains. With just a though it caused the Iron Adventurer's to commit the darkest of deeds against two children. Someday that creature will pay, but until that time they do not want the teleporter used. Fortunately, it is believed the creature is unable to get access to the teleporter within its temple. Another might be a wise place to store Malphaz ring.

Assistant DM James
Tuesday November 22nd, 2011 12:49:43 AM

Bosk rummages through his bag a bit before pulling out the Hook City Documentation they had received. [b]When we formed the Iron Adventurer's we were giving the option of having a President and Vice-president for the corporation or a board of equal members with a Chairman. If we chose to have a President and Vice President the cost would have been one Green Chit, but we consider all in our group to be equal and opted for having a board instead. Besides, being an adventurer can be dangerous and the cost to switch the President or Vice President was very high. To form a committee the cost is one Orange Chit per person documented on that board, just as it is to add a member to the board.

I know it is expensive, but the problem is you cannot work without a licences and registration. You even need proper documentation and paperwork just to enter the city to look for work. Our group experienced that nightmare first hand. We only got inside after saving a village and having someone transferring us their writ of passage as a reward. As for work, we have only been here a short time, but we got lucky and have made quite a name for ourselves by saving the city from a zombie attack. That is supposedly why someone unknown benefactor is renovating our tower and delivered all the furnishings. I may be suspicious by nature, but rarely have I encountered someone with such wealth and generosity. I have a feeling that this is more of a down payment than a gift. If not, we also have a standing offer of payment if we can track down a troubadour and bring them back to the city.

Beriothian ponders for a moment whether Bosk is right about this being a way to curry favor with the IA before offering them a job. He had been assuming that this was most likely a gift from Dustin, the last descendant from a city founder whom the group had petitioned Gargul to let return from the dead. This extremely wealthy man had no offspring and had only come back to be with a certain young woman. While there are certainly others out there who might be this generous after saving the city, Dustin still feels like the most likely source of such gifts.

OOC: Steel Grass armor? Now that's exotic armor indeed! Ha! :)
